Visited in February mid afternoon to celebrate my birthday. Loved my experience eating here. The atmosphere is top notch. They have seating inside with a view of the water, or you can sit outside where you have a choice of sitting at picnic tables right by the water, or if you don't want to be in the sun, they have a pavilion with a bar area. I rate this a 4.5 because the food was good but I felt it was a tad pricey for the portion size. Service was kind of sporadic, however they were changing shifts. I loved the lobster bisque soup that I had and my grouper bites were really good. My son had the curry shrimp and he was a little disappointed because the tails were still on the shrimp, making it messy to eat and the portion was rather skimpy, not near enough pineapple in it. It was uncrowded mid afternoon but during busy times you can grab a cocktail and sit in a comfy chair around a fire pit to wait until your table is called. Also a landlocked boat that makes a great picture taking opportunity. Overall a fabulous experience and I will go back every time I'm in the area. I'm sure it's a great place to hang out and have cocktails while looking at the water!

Visited on a very busy Friday night. Vibe was great! Live music, a lot of people, and great weather. It was a party of 3. We had to wait about an hour to get seated so we got drinks at the bar in the meantime. Drinks and apps were delicious! Actual main course meals, no our fave. Flavor wise, everything was delicious but we all felt it was half cold. Compared to the apps that came hot and fresh. The key lime pie for dessert, highly recommend! Overall, place is fantastic and would give it another try when visiting the area. It feels like you’re in the Keys except you’re actually in Tampa.

Loved the food and atmosphere. Drinks were amazing. I had the rum runner and my husband had the watermelon daiquiri and guava/mango daiquiri. He s really enjoyed the guava one. Forgot my waiter name but she was amazing( went today).We shared a calamari, my son had the wings, husband had a pound of shrimp, I had jerk burger, and daughter had Mac and cheese! Everything was made to order and nothing wasn’t cold.

Perfect Friday date night spot. Live music, great ambiance, and perfect spot to catch the sunset. The breeze from the water really helped keep us nice and cool despite the blaring sun. They do not take reservations and is a first come first serve basis. We originally told it was a 35minute wait but were able to get seating at the bar. Our wait did take over that time but the view from the bar was perfect, so we stayed and ate. The drinks are great, tastes wonderful and are super strong (can’t taste it though hehe). Staff is very nice and facility is clean. Will come back to catch another sunset!

Hidden gem worth trying out! If you want a solid drink and a breathtaking view and live music on the weekends, this is the place to go! Best fish dip we have had in Tampa, and the wings are a favorite of ours as well. The bar area is the best place to sit if you can find a seat, first come first serve. Connor at the bar treats you with top notch service even when it’s been extremely busy. First time coming back in two months, Connor was so attentive and made some of the best drinks. We met Tyler recently as well, who was also extremely busy, but still made us feel welcomed and taken care of the minute we sat down. The bar staff has improved immensely and the service has improved all around. The locals only wish is the menu changed up seasonally!

I really enjoyed the seafood and the atmosphere. I never knew the restaurant existed and it is just past Hula Bay. I had Grouper bites with seasoned fries and my daughter had a shrimp basket. The seafood was very fresh and tasty. We sat outside by the water for lunch and fed some birds shrimp tails. The price was a little high so I wouldn’t recommend it for a stop if you are watching your money. The amount of food for the price is a little skimpy. The waitress was very nice and helpful.

You kinda feel like you are driving into a murder scene but when you get back there it is beautiful. The weather was perfect and there is tons of outside seating. We sat by the water and ate our way through sunset. The food was really good. Try the coconut shrimp. So good!

Great local gem! Waited 5 minutes for a table, and food came out supper quick. The food was very good and super fresh. Sat out by the water and they have million dollar views. This is 100% must go to if your in town. Pet friendly too!

Always lovely when you're having a couple cocktails by the bay. Fresh seafood daily! The grouper is Amazing! So is the Lobster bisque soup. Drinks taste great as well and not watered down or too much ice. All the staff is friendly and in my experience waits have never been too extreme.

Great fresh fish eats! They update you on which fish is being used that day for specific plates, which I think speaks for it's freshness. They had live musicians which contributed to the whole vibe and the view was spectacular from each seat. The staff was young, attentive and very friendly. Drinks were strong (to my liking) and correctly priced (in my opinion). Will definitely come back for more!

a great afternoon on the water. a ways away from Dunedin but worth the drive. smoked fish dip was THE BEST and we're snobs about it. the warm spiced shrimp were cooked perfectly with a great sauce. a definite go bk to!

An amazing place. We sat at the bar, it was very crowded but the service was great. We got the bacon cheeseburger and they came out fairly quick. We weren’t in a rush, enjoyed the live band and people watching. Check it out. Very relaxing. Cheers

Great place to catch a vibe by the water. They do not have reservations so either get there early or try to find a first come first serve seat at the bar area. Food was delicious especially the calamari as a starter. Drinks are reasonably priced as well. If you do decide to wait for a table you can definitely walk down to the dock and get a beautiful view of the bay area. 😉

Great place on the water. Visited on a Saturday night. The place was very busy but has a large outdoor area so people are not crammed together. The service was excellent and very fast for being so busy. Had calamari for an appetizer. Would highly recommend. The portion is large enough for 4 people which was surprising since it was only $11. For the entrée Mahi fish tacos, one of the best I've had. Also a good sized portion for the price. If you're local you need to try this Tampa hidden gem. If you are visiting Tampa, include this restaurant on your trip. Guaranteed to not disappoint.

We have been here twice and it is quickly becoming a favorite. The servers are extremely friendly and knowledgeable, the location on the water surrounded by palm trees is hard to beat, and the food is high quality and delicious. It is so rare to find a place that has all three. Highly recommend. We will be back.

The host and waitress were awesome very good service. I like they asked if it was our first time eating there. We did not care for the rum sauce that everyone was talking so much about but the drink were so so good! I had a pina colada and I absolutely loved it!! I will definitely be back for drinking night!

Went for drinks and apps on a Sunday. Great live reggae band was playing and oddly enough their stage was an old boat at the entrance to the restaurant. This place has great views of the bay and we even caught a momma and baby dolphin swim up to the edge where we were standing. We ordered bloody Marys, Pina coladas, and conch fritters. Everything was good including the service although beware the bacon used as a garnish for the bloody Mary is extremely greasy, so much so that I thought there was mayonnaise on the bacon!

This restaurant is definitely a five because of their ambience, location and drinks. The food, is bar food but it’s good. The piña coladas are delicious !!!! I love coming here and looking at the sunset and the ocean/boats. Casual dinning but make sure u make reservations since it gets busy.

Really cute atmosphere. We got there around 5:30 and had to wait about an hour for a table, but there was plenty of space to spread out and wait. The food is well worth the wait. My picky kid loved their mac and cheese (which I wasn't sure she would considering that it's made with penne noodles)! We also had the fish tacos, lobster bisque, and a bacon cheeseburger.

Nice place, fun atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. The food was somewhat basic, not high end, but probably satisfactory to most people. I ordered island grilled chicken with banana chutney and grilled Caribbean vegetables and rice. Is asparagus Caribbean? I’m not sure, but I think plantain is a actually a fruit. Anyway, the food was edible, but not fantastic. ‘Presentation’ is really important to me. It was lacking here- see pic for details. Overall, I had a decent experience though, and enjoyed the island vibe this place exudes.

My coworkers took me here for the first time, for lunch. The atmosphere was very friendly. It was a nice day outside. The waitress "Jenna" was very friendly and service was pretty fast. The Burger I ordered was ok, but a little under cooked. I would return for sure if the chance presented its self.

This place was awesome! We loved the chill vibe and our server was over the top sweet. She was extremely helpful as it was our first visit. We had a great experience and a must try for anyone who is looking for a place to eat! I had the fish tacos - Mahi with yuca fries. My wife had the catch of the day - swordfish pan seared with coconut rum sauce. Our daughter had the cheeseburger and fruit. The food was super tasty and delicious! We also tried the skinny margarita and piña colada. The drinks were refreshing on a warm evening. Thank you for a great experience!

The best lobster bisque I've had in my life! A beautiful spot in a tucked away location, but it's so much bigger inside than it appears with beautiful views. Great cocktails, everything I had was delicious.

As the signs remind you as your approach the front desk, they were voted #1 seafood restaurant in Tampa. Although the atmosphere was a bit louder than I prefer it, it was worth it. The food was excellent and well priced for the quantity and quality. I would definitely go there again to try their other dished.

This is the second time my wife and I have been here and we will continue coming here. The atmosphere is great right on the water or you can dine under the pavilion. The food is fresh and a great variety. Our server Casey was awesome! Very knowledgeable, very personable, and offered great recommendations. We will definitely be coming back and asking for him in the future.

Our absolute favorite place for a drink and meal on the water! Great environment and the food is always spot on. We rotate between the wings, fish bites, fish tacos, jerk burger, and shrimp salad. Almost always busy, but can usually find a seat somewhere. Wait staff is always friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and bar drinks.

Quality spot, great views from the bar and surrounding tables. There are TV's at the bar to watch sports and a few inside as well. Plenty of parking, lots of space for any occasion. Friendly staff. Fish tacos were fresh and evenly proportioned throughout. Salad was okay, shrimp was seasoned well, but nothing special. Pina Colada was quality, but could do with bigger floater considering how sweet it was. The shaved coconut is a nice touch. The only unpleasant thing I could say was that there were a ton of birds praying in the rafters of the bar area waiting for left out food. Look out haha they were not hesitant to make a move. Overall pleased with my experience.

Went on a Friday night and it was packed. Hard parking and wait was about an hour but they have a few sitting areas where u can wait, also has open air bar u can get drinks, had live music. Views were awesome. We were seated at a high top table and food was delicious. Great relaxing atmosphere and staff were all very nice.

Nice restaurant, beautiful views, great drinks, great food!! Only complaint is that there must have been a mix up with our food and we were waiting for over an hour. We couldn't really complain though, as we were sipping our drinks and watching the sunset and the dolphins!

Visiting Florida I went to this place with my sister-in-law and we had a blast, The service was amazing, super friendly staff The food was really good. Very tasty and the atmosphere. Oh boy, the atmosphere makes you want to go back again I will definitely go back especially in the summer. They also have music but when I got there the music was a little bit earlier so I missed it I was told spring summer they always have music so looking forward to visit again You will have great views for your pictures Plus you will leave with a great memory Strongly recommend you would pay the visit

What’s good foodies it’s ya fav blogger lol yo I ended up over at this lil hidden gem I been here a couple times mainly for drinks but today I said let’s get a crab cake! Now this crab cake was pretty impressive all crab minimal breaddddd it’s charbroiled say whaaaa this was a really good traditional crab cake it could have used a lil old bay but hey in general fresh crab can’t go wrong !!!! it was $18 came w fries my view was amazing check out the view on Facebook/foodies network 727 oh yo my waiter was attentive af 😂

This place is cute and on the water. We visited at night on a Saturday & it was pretty busy. We waited about 30mins for a table on the water (not bad for approx 50min wait time we were given). While we waited they have seatimg on the side of the water an rhe views were beautiful. Our waiter, Jake, was attentive to every detail. We had oysters, churrasco dish & the catch of the day dish along with grouper bite appz to start us off & key lime pie to finish up our night. All was delicious. When we return to tampa we will most definitely be returning here.

3.5 and Will return. Very glad we made a pit stop here: friendly service and good food. The restaurant can be seen on the east bound on Gandy Bridge. Smoked mahi fish Steamed clams Harken 2020 Chardonnay It’s in the Marina Pointe condo development (?), probably will get busiest as residents moving in. I don’t think they’ve indoor area. So go to the bathroom to cool down 😎 if you need it 😎. The parking lot is pretty full during a Wednesday lunch and it’s only less than half full. Our server is really sunny, sweet and decent, which brings me to recall why we love USA so much. Ok last, I’ve to brag about my encounter with Mr Baseball - Darryl Strawberry 🍓- ran into him at the airport and I asked for a selfie with him - my first ever. He’s so sweet and nice. Before I leave, I told him that no one has prettier swing than he and he’s the forever baseball ⚾️ player for me. He replied, “I appreciated it.” Hope he understood my chinglish 😂 TWO nice Americans made my day 😊 thank you.

Food and vibes - all amazing! Wish I had more time to spend here :) I came here for a last-minute dinner with some family and was very much at awe of the aesthetic here. Really felt like a seafood restaurant on the coast with the big boat set up at the entrance, the sand, all the white and the chairs and juat everything. A really open and spacious space too! We got some fried calamari for the table, and it was all finished super quick. Thin tings of calamari though. For the entree I got the Grilled Bay Shrimp with the rice and a side of Asparagus instead of slaw. Those asparagus were huge! But also well cooked. I asked for less oil, so it didn't seem too oily on the surface. Generous amount of rice and perfectly cooked shrimp. Best part - the Guava cocktail sauce that came with! Oh my that level of sweetness and savoriness together.. just amazing! I even asked for extra of that sauce to take home! My uncle and aunt both got lobster bisques, and really liked those too. They came in pretty mugs instead of bowls. Nice vibe! For the main they go the Crispy Coconut Shrimp and the Crab Cakes with Caribbean Veggies (fried plantain and asparagus). The shrimp were massive and actually looked crispy! I tried some of the crab cake; Actually got that flavor of the crab and it was good. Too oily though :( The kids got chicken tenders and fries, and finished it all even though they usually always leave food (parents were surprised!)! We also got dessert- Key Lime Pie and Rum Cake. Really good size on these too! The pie was just beautiful! Perfect amount of sweetness and zestiness and a good crust too. I loved it! Had only a bit and took the rest for my fiancé the next day. He really loved it too! The rum cake was really soft and light. Actual got that rum flavor with the nuts on top. Real good! I had also packed 2 of the Island Grilled Chicken to go (with only asparagus for the veggies on one). The chicken was charred good and seasoned well, but a bit overcooked and dry. The veggies here were VERY oily. Had to press out the oil with paper towels. Loved the flavor of the plantains though They also forgot the rice on one of the boxes so it was very sad to look at. Banana Chutney (came with the diah) though? Amazing! Had that chicken and asparagus and even some of my own added steamed broccoli with that chutney. Such a good one!

Came here on a Tuesday evening looking for waterfront dining and was not disappointed! We were sat literally on the edge of the break wall. There is plenty of seating, though nearing sunset, it was packed. The service was crazy fast! Our server was Kaylie and she nailed the appropriate mixture of attentiveness and letting us enjoy our meal, in addition to being very friendly and helpful with our menu questions. Though the place filled up quickly, we never felt rushed to open up our table. We had the fish bites appetizer and grilled Corvina (fish) sandwiches which were great. Our food overall was above standard pub grub and very tasty. Our (multiple) daiquiris were maybe not the strongest, but they had great flavor as well. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience here and would definitely recommend it!

This place was actually recommended to me and my brother on our business trip by our uber driver. We love the atmosphere, the food and the service. If you go by uber, be sure to order your uber at least some 10-15 minutes before leaving because they take a while to arrive. Great atmosphere to relax and watch the sunset with wine and good food

The facility was beautiful and the entertainment was wonderful. The dining room is big and noisy, but thats how I like it. The service was great, both at the bar and inside when we were seated for dinner. The food was good quality, delicious, but priced a little high. This is a special place to take your kids for a celebration, but not a romantic date.

We came in and were seated right away, then waited and waited for a server to approach us. Couldn’t help but notice how many staff members were standing behind the counter as we waited. As you can see from the pic we were directly in front of them so there’s no way we went unnoticed. My mother in law had to wave someone over, and the server explained that the person assigned to our table hadn’t shown up for work. So why were we placed in an unstaffed section and why did we have to ask for service if they knew our server wasn’t at work? From there, service was quick and the food was great. The waitress we ended up with was pleasant. The restaurant and view are gorgeous, and the live music was great. But we couldn’t shake the initial experience of being ignored while watching the staff laugh and joke. Not sure if we will return.

Amazing place to watch the sunset. The Pina colada is out of this world. You can’t go wrong with any of the dishes. The staff is amazing. There’s a good size crowd but you don’t feel like it’s too crowded. A little piece of the Florida keys in the heart of Tampa.

The drinks and scenery scored them a 4 star. The food, the day we went was bland. We ordered fish nuggets for an appetizer and jerk burgers. It's a seafood place so of course I wanted to order seafood as the main dish but after tasting the season-less fish nuggets I decided to pass. The view is amazing and it's a really nice spot to hang out. Maybe they had a bad day but the food was not good.

This is a really neat place. Definitely only for seafood lovers. My son and his gf are down visiting and they wanted fresh seafood. They said it was very good! According to them it was fresh and delicious. The ambience is a mix between backyard and casual upscale. The service was excellent and the only drawback was that in the beginning our server was kinda annoyed at my questions and it was a turn off from even wanting to even stay if I'm honest. It was awkward as well. I have a shellfish allergy and I FULLY expected to not be able to eat really. Like I said I brought my son and his gf. However when I asked if the burger would be ok to order if the burgers were cooked on the same grill, she was pretty catty. I could understand if I was asking for accommodations or being ridiculous but I asked a simple question. Other than that it was a really good experience. I would probably bring guests back.

Very cool place right on the water! Our server, Sean, was attentive, informative, efficient and friendly. Fish tacos and Shrimp avocado salad were delicious. The Bloody Mary was awesome! Can't wait to return. Only downside is not enough parking.

Awesome place. It’s much larger than I thought it would be and there is just a ton of outdoor seating. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table, but we were able to sit on some nice chairs and someone came up to take our drink orders while we waited with live music playing. Main issues were: would be nice to have more vegetarian options and the “make it caesar” option for the house side salad just means they give you caesar dressing…the salad itself is not a caesar.

The location and building are five star all the way. The raw wooden construction. The decks and the abundant picnic tables under the glowing lights hanging from corners of the rooves. The shell trails that meander throughout the grounds with circles of chairs for lounging around the palm trees. All make for an island atmosphere that is like a mini vacation to the keys. Thier is also a fine dock for boaters who float up for a meal with a long sidewalk along the waters edge leading to the restaurant. The food was passable but not what you would expect for the price unfortunately. This would not stop me from returning for a burger and fries and the Key lime pie is excellent. The vibe and the atmosphere make it worth a visit.

A couple friends gave us a few options to randomly choose from in Tampa for water front sunset dinner. . We ended up at Salt Shack and it was perfect! The location and sunset couldn’t be better. The way they have the seating and surrounding grounds designed is so unique and creative. The food and server staff was as good as it gets. We highly recommend this place. Brad and Suzanne

1st visit. Me and wifey arrived before noon crowd so seated right away by friendly hostesses. Great view of Tampa Bay. Saw several dolphin playing in the water. Love the tropical atmosphere. Sweet tea was well made. Bahama Conch Chowder was spicy but just ok. Mahi Tacos were average. Shrimp Basket was seasoned well but waaaay over priced at $18.50. Only six medium sized shrimp! Golden Rum Cake was delicious. Will definitely be back with friends but will try other dishes.

Right on water. Great views nice atmosphere. Crazy busy but still great service. First come first served at outdoor bar area. Seafood centered menu, but 2 options for vegan/vegetarian. Dock for boaters nearby. Definitely worth the drive!

I gave them a four star because our waiter was Phenomenal and the grouper, conch fritters was excellent . However I order the carribean jerk chicken with veggies to go and the whole meal was disappointing. The chicken was dry with no seasoning and the rice was dry as well. Good atmosphere. I was disappointed about that meal.

Beautiful place on the water and what an amazing view while enjoying dinner and drinks!! The service was excellent and the food was great too!! Special shout out to Conner for being the best and so knowledgeable and helpful!!! Absolutely loved the atmosphere and the live music was the cherry on top!! Can't wait to go back!!

Visited to see the sunset. We ate and walked around. Very clean place and live music. The drinks need some help. My sangria tasted like a juice with sprite no alcohol at all. Don’t forget a light jacket.

The food, waiter, and view (what view we had) was great. However the manger Molly was not. I arrived and me and my girlfriend waited about 30 minutes for a table. When I was called I asked the host who asked the manager if I could sit at an outside table near the water since there was one available and being cleaned up at the time. The manager said No that there is a party of 7 and that is the only table that will sit them, ok, no big deal even though we were their first. No problem. After sitting down for about 10 minutes I went to take a photo of the sunset and there was a couple at the outside table I asked to sit at. I asked Molly “is that couple your party of 7 sitting at the table you denied me to sit at?” She said VERY RUDLY AND SMART ELICIT “the party of 7 did not show so I sat the next table.” Ok, so we could have sat there, or even better, you could have came to my table and said hey actually you can sit here since the party didn’t show, since I didn’t even have my drink yet.. I mean that’s what a normal professional manager would have done. but no, instead I got talked to like I was an uneducated child and had no idea about the restaurant industry and how it wouldn’t make sense to sit me there…. Even though she sat a party of 2 at the exact same table.. FYI I drove 3 hours to have a weekend away and this is our last night here and we really wanted to sit at one of these outside tables even if we needed to wait longer to have the full experience of the sunset. However, It didn’t matter. I asked the waiter what’s the managers name and he told me and asked why which I explained. He said she is rude and no one likes her and she talks to everyone poorly and that I should see the reviews of her on yelp… my question is why is she still there?? Great place to take out of Towner's or pretend like you are on vacation. Amazing local and ambience on that bay. Have seen plenty of dolphins here on a nice day. Good food and amazing drinks. Very open which is great but can get windy and watch out for storms in the summer. Obviously more expensive than other local places but it's a good value for the atmosphere. First timer, we’ve been wanting to come here for so long. It was a little bit of a disappointment. The layout is beautiful, there’s tables everywhere, a huge bar area, tables by the water etc. We ordered drinks and unfortunately there was a huge bug at the bottom of one of our drinks, under the ice, and there was white squishy stuff floating in our other drink. Our server took those drinks off the bill; the food was ok. Our fries came out cold, and the burger was lukewarm. Our server had brought us new fries; just seemed like there was a lot going wrong and we didn’t want to continue complaining. Our server was also a little on the slower side with our table. Wasn’t impressed, would come back to watch the sunset and order a drink or something.

Super long wait. But still an experience while waiting for your table. Had several mixed drinks while waiting. Got to walk around the pathway next to the restaurant and the bay with views of the bridge. When we were sat at our table we were lucky enough to get a corner seat facing the water and even saw fireworks from across the bay. Food is really good and service is speedy.

Seafood bougie meets Jimmy Buffet while finding Tampa Bay's best kept secret sunset spot on the water!! Love this place and tropical vibe! It's a little pricey on the food side, but it's fresh and delicious, so worth it. Your drinks come in plastic cups, but that's the atmosphere and the view is what sells this restaurant. If you're lucky enough to get seated in an outside table by the water just before sunset, it's a beautiful place to relax with the sea breeze, pelicans diving for fish, boats passing by and the occasional dolphin showing off. Driving here you would not think this amazing of a place exists at the end of the road, and parking can be pretty tricky on the weekends, but it's for sure a very Florida, and Tampa style place to be! Definitely recommend the fresh oysters and ahi tuna with a Mojito!

I got the grouper bites for appetizer and fish tacos w/ regular fries, The yuca fries are good as well, and I topped it off with a margarita. They do have a very small selection of entrees for those who are vegetarian. They have two bars one inside and one near the bay. Great place for family and friends...or coworkers haha

Great atmosphere, great food and drink. This is an outdoor but roofed restaurant on the bay. Great views of the sunset from waterfront tables and the bar area. The place was crowded on a Friday night, so we had to wait. Definitely worth it. The service was excellent, our waitress Dani was very attentive. As usual I got wings to start, and they were terrific. Not your typical buffalo style. Very crispy with a sweet and spicy sauce. The Mahi in the Fish Tacos was one nice sized piece, cooked to perfection. I like that. The Lobster Bisque was superb. The house Salad was very good, fresh crispy and light. My wife had the grilled chicken. Caribbean style with banana chutney, pineapple salsa and plantains with rice and peas. Key Lime pie to round it out nicely. A house recipe. Excellent. I highly recommend a visit if you're near St. Petersburg Fl.

I stopped Salt Shack for the first time today. It was recommended by a neighbor. I took my Mom here while she was visiting from out of town. I have some critiques, but despite the downsides I mention below, I will be coming back for the good things I’ve listed below. Setting. I will tell you that the setting is great. The beach look with the palms, the fishing boat, and waterfront seating was great! Drinks. The mixed drinks (pina colada and margaritas) were tasty but light on alcohol, which is actually okay with me, but may not be for others. Dog friendly. I didn’t bring my pup but I wish I had. The place is dog friendly, which is great given the outdoor seating Food. The food was marginal in my opinion. First, I was surprised by the lack of options. I expected a little more. We had grouper bites as a starter. My mother had the island chicken entree. I had the lobster bisque and catch of the day which was served with rice and beans, plantains, and asparagus. My mother thought her dish was fine. The grouper bites were good, but the lobster bisque and my fish were okay at best. I won’t order either again. The lobster bisque was creamy but really fatty. So much so, it left a layer of “grease on my lips. It also did not have much in the way of lobster. I’ve had great lobster bisque were there were little chunks of lobster. My fish (catch of the day) wasn’t that good. Next time I come back, which I will given the setting and other positives, I’ll try something different to see whether I’ll continue to come back on a regular basis.

Great service and drinks ! The view of course is spectacular after all it's near the water. Being a vegetarian I didn't have alot of options here. But this place was chosen for a friends bday gathering. I still enjoyed myself sitting by the water and sipping on my pina colada. The fries were amazing and the other guest enjoyed their entrees. Update: I returned to Salt Shack this evening and my experience was so different. I brought a 1st time guest because I enjoyed it so much the first time. Not only did our server act as though he didn't want to come to our table. But the drinks were so melted (daiquiri and pina colada) and not even close to the yumminess I experience my previous visit. We didn't order much as she was ready to go after initial visit from server . Our host (one with sunglasses on) was very friendly but others acted like our server. Like it bothered them to talk to us . Very disappointed in my visit tonight.

Great atmosphere in a beautiful spot with great views. Our waitress Angelica was sweet and very attentive. The oysters were huge and the rest of the food was good. However the manager was a jerk!’ Our friends called ahead to make sure the place was dog friendly and they said they were. Most of the time the dog sat under the table popping up occasionally as people walked by and asked to pet him. He got excited when he saw a family member that he was familiar with and barked a couple times. The manager Todd came to our table and said if you can’t get the dog under control we are going to have to ask you to leave. We thought he was joking at first, nope he was dead serious and angry! First time here with a friend and it was a bad experience. We sat down outside near the bar and waited and waited. After 15 minutes, I had to call one of the server over. The atmosphere and scenery were outstanding but the service was just horrible. Just two of us and we waited for an hour just to get our food. Nothing was done so we asked one of the servers to check on our order and she just ignored us. Then we found our server and she told us that the kitchen was behind. The place is not even that busy. I think she actually forgot to turn in our order. We notified the server that we would leave in 15 minutes if the food is not out by then. Management comp us for the appetizer but heck , I rather pay for the appetizer to get a better service. Food waere decent. UPDATE: After 11 months, friends and family wanted to know if I know any nice place on the water for Christmas lunch get together. I told them this location has great view and atmosphere but expect lack of service, but that was 11 months ago since I’ve been here. So we decided to give this location another shot. Wow, the service was phenomenal. As soon as we sat down, we were greeted right away and had our drinks within 5 minutes. Then our food arrived within 15 minutes. Our waitress must have come back every 10-15 minutes to see if we need anything else. She was super awesome. Hat off to her. We all agreed that we had a best service from this place so far from all the places we’ve been to. It’s good that the owner read all the reviews and take it seriously. We all agreed that we will return soon with more friends. Thank you for a great, quick friendly service. Update to 5 ⭐️ 5 👍

Salt Shack is always incredible. Our server was so accomodating throughout our visit with some friends that had never been before. There was, however, a minor frustration that was definitely no fault of anyone directly. I guess there was a new way of waiting in line and they opened up the outdoor seating as first come first serve. That did not go over well at all with anyone we chatted with. Already with a 2 hour wait time, people who were in line for awhile before other patrons kept having people swarm the current people eating to try and get their table beforehand. That was such a terrible experience. But, again, that will not take away from our love for Salt Shack. Hopefully that changes with the line. People with kids who already stood there for an hour and half and just not being aggressive like these other groups is not cool.

Very popular and very delicious restaurant and bar for ocean views and sunsets with relaxing drinks or suppers. Portions are regular or small for the price, but tasty. Kids don't usually eat fish but downed the grouper bites like they were chicken nuggets. We just wish there were more of them for $18. Be prepared to come early for a seat, whether inside or the bar or seaside, or else wait quite awhile for a table. This is a very popular place, even though it's off the main roads quite a ways. Salt Shack owner would do well to expand the property and seating areas.

I never have big expectations on these type of restaurants but I have to say we had a great experience. The beachy Caribbean ambience by the water is very nice. The place is huge and can be very busy during the weekends, the service can be slow at times but is a place to enjoy the view and just relax. The food was unexpectedly good. The tuna tartare excellent! Caribbean fritters delicious, avocado shrimp salad amazing. We were very impressed and happy during our lunch. Definitely I'm going back to try other dishes.

There is plenty of parking. It’s actually amazing how many cars there were and that this place can hold so many people. I appreciate the variety in seating. On a busy weekend you can wait for preferred seating fully in the shade or find some around the bar area which is first come first serve. We were able to find a spot that was partial shade, partial sun. So it wasn’t bad. On my ig parentingfly you can learn about other cool places. The service was great and so was the food and ofcourse great views being by the water. Overall great casual dinning option to enjoy outdoors and FL sunshine.

They normally don't take reservations but were very accomodating to try to help us out with our party of 20 request that morning. The hostess was so understanding and did her best to help. The views of the bridge by the water are great. The place is large. Parking might be difficult to find on weekends. The drinks we ordered were made well. We were seated in the first come first serve area. It took 30 minutes for someone to come and ask if we have been helped or not. Other tables who were seated around us later were helped faster. Nice view of the bridge with sunsets. Service was excellent, had the fish tacos and lobster bisque. Ordered a bloody Mary which was pricey, but it said came with cucumber , bacon and an egg. Never had anything in it and still charged full price. Make sure they have the ingredients before wasting your money. Key lime pie was enough for two and very tasty. I would give it another try one day.

Love this place! Intown for vacation and came for dinner last night. Ended up with a primo seat for sunset. Enjoyed it so much we brought the kids and dogs back for lunch today. Right on the water. Dinner was calamari, conch fritters and smoked tuna dip. Lunch is avocado shrimp salad, oysters on the half shell and grouper bites! Service is awesome too! Brought out a water bowl for the 2 dogs before we even got our water! 🤩

Great spot on the bay. Although I didn't eat here on this occasion, I did have drinks at the bar. Was impressed with the tequilas and other liquor selections. The views here were excellent. Perfect spot for a date night. The whole atmosphere of Salt Shack on the bay is excellent. You really find yourself relaxing as soon as you get sat. The only thing I would critique about salt shack is their chairs. The chairs are quite uncomfortable and I understand that may be done by design so that the guests won't sit for to long and camp the restaurant but something a bit more comfortable that doesn't give you back pain would've been nice. I was at a bar stool.

What an amazing spot! We sat right by the water, there was an amazing breeze and the food was absolutely delish! My husband had the shrimp basket with fries and it was super tasty. I had the crab cake burger and my goodness, that had to be the best crab cake burger I've ever had in the state. The beverages were also delicious. I wish I took photos of our plates and the view but we got so lost in soaking up the moment and vibes. Definitely recommend a visit, we will surely be back.

Food came out INCREDIBLY quickly; we ordered three appetizers, two entrées, a soup, and one margarita; they all came out within 10-15 minutes! We paid under $100 for everything, not including tip! Nice waterfront restaurant. Great location with an interesting atmosphere! We always sit by the water for the great view! Lots of seafood on the menu. The coconut shrimp is so good! The waitstaff have always been friendly and accommodating. The front end staff can be less than friendly. I understand they are busy but a smile would go along way to welcome potential customers. They don’t take reservations. It is first come first serve so if you don’t want to wait 45 mins (or even 90 mins!) for a table get there at 11am when they open.

Atmosphere and taste of food was good, but portion size not as promised for price. Sat at the bar. Ordered fried shrimp (marketpriced $22) and before ordering asked how big it was. Was told it was a full pound. Received only 8 medium shrimp for $22. Not anywhere near a pound. Not even a half pound. When I mentioned it to the bartender, she giggled and said, "I guess I lied." Another member of our party ordered 1 pound peel and eat shrimp and the portion size was an actual pound. I would not have ordered the dish if I knew the true portion amount. I was not offered any extra shrimp or free drink for the mistake. Cannot say I will be back due to this unfortunate error.

The scenery was gorgeous although there is not an inside where you can sit so it gets really hot. The food was just OK! The drinks were on point! The waiter made me never ever want to come here again though. Funny they have a sign that boasts about their superior customer service but the waiter we had was snarky and rude. Went there today with my family, including two young children. From hostess to waiters, everyone was very nice. It’s a nice “chill spot” with good music and good vibes. The food was pretty standard to this level of service; a lot of fried/standard options with some fresh flair. Parking is pretty limited. My only suggestion would be for the outdoor tables against the rope to be leveled out. My kid’s drink accidentally tipped over because the table wasn’t level (nbd because there are shells on the ground), but our waiter was quick to get us another drink. My husband really liked the shrimp dish he ordered. I forgot the name. They were super busy, but it's a Saturday, so it was expected. We sat next to the water, so the views were amazing! I’ve been to this place many times and every time was a fun experience! Love the open relaxed vibe with multiple nooks to congregate in. My favorite spot is the picnic tables by the edge of the water; best spot for sunset dinner. I recently held a get together event with 20+ coworkers and Salt Shack Events did an exceptional job accommodating us, giving us our own space and our own waitress for the evening. Shannon, the assistant manager, was a great help in getting things set up. Our waitress was great, attentive, friendly, and fast! One thing to keep in mind when organizing an event of large group is that there is a minimum spending limit. They have a Wide selection of food and drinks. Love their catch of the day, and their Salt Shack Patron Anejo margarita! But best of all is the sunset views. Nothing screams perfect more than enjoying a drink with good company.

The food is excellent and I mean excellent. The service was not excellent upon arrival because we had no service for over 35 minutes sitting at the bar completely ignored. The bartender apologized and explained that we hit their peak time but at least I think we should have been acknowledged and offered a drink. Once we ordered food and beverages the service and the drinks and food were top-notch. The atmosphere will change over time due to construction it might be located near a military base of some sort but you can tell there is progress. Salt Shack is one of them the way they have it all set up and designed you don't know there is anything with an undersirable View nearby once you're inside the establishment. We will return on our next visit to Tampa:-)

Food, vibe and ambiance were on point, exactly what you would expect. Our server, Connor, was excellent he gave detailed explanations of the menu and drinks before we asked. The roasted oysters, steamed clams and mussels and BBQ wings were delicious. Oak grilled swordfish tasted delicious too.

Great place. Amazing sunsets. The parking is nuts especially depending on when you go, but well worth it. The Goomba smash is a terrific drink, especially if you like rum! Alan, the waiter, is awesome!!! Best waiter I've had here. The food is great too. The chimichurri steak is on point. So so good!!! If you go, especially for your first time, make sure you are there for the sunset. Absolutely stunning, but remember, super packed!!!

The venue is fun, causal, family-friendly. You can't beat the views when it comes to Tampa Bay views. We sat by the seawall and watched airplanes flyover low as they landed at TIA. Our server was friendly and gave us everything we asked for and did so timely. I was impressed by the food! This is not a basic seafood restaurant where everything is fried. I had the catch of the day - Pompano. The pina coladas are made from scratch. My husband said it was the best jerk burger he had ever had. They have yucca fries which I encourage you to try if you haven't before. Kids burger was generous portion and on a brioche bun. My daughter even ate it with fresh onions. I really liked the menu in that it didn't go too far in the Caribbean food direction and provided plenty of options for those with simpler pallets. We will likely return and try sitting in one of the different areas each time, much to look at from different vantage points.

Salt Shack was a bit of a disappointment. The drinks did not meet expectations. Example the Salt Shack Rum Runner did not taste go and neither did the margaritas. We left them untouched. The food was OK but again not worth the 45 min wait time. The staff was uninterested and appeared bothered at times so if I had to rate Salt Shack I would normally give it a 2 star but the scenery was outstanding and the restaurant layout was also impressive so I ranked them up to a 3 star. If you not interested in a nice view then I would not recommend this restaurant. They have potential to be great just need to improve on the quality of both the drinks and the service.

Gets suuuper crowded, even on weekdays it seems. Makes sense, as it’s a huge place and right on the water for proper sunsets. Solid beer list and other drink options. Food is just okay, leaves a bit to be desired. For the price, could be higher quality. And some of the prices are pretty absurd, even for fresh market priced seafood.

Quick service in a surprisingly well air conditioned space for an outdoor venue. Though the drinks were not refilled, I was given only the highest quality, fresh fish that I have ever tasted. Friendly, well knowledged staff with an invigorating view of the bay, I was most pleased with my experience. Fantastic first visit with my brother. We both live in Dallas. So happy to find this via Google for best seafood in Tampa. Even better, no waiting if you go to the deck straight away. We snagged two seats at the bar on Saturday afternoon with the perfect view and phenomenal bartender Keaton. As a food service veteran of over 40 years, she’s at the top of my favorite bartender list. Originally from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma (one of my stomping grounds in the business), she’s now a full Floridian thanks to a wise man who fell in love with her. Which would not be hard to do! Her service skills, customer rapport and knowledge of the menu are all at a 10 out of 10. But I have to tip my hat to Management. Very smart staffing during the most challenging time in our industry. Must have been at least 8 or 9 bartenders working this approx 35 seat bar. And what a well oiled machine. We sat near the service bar, which I love to do as both my brother and I were bartenders for FGI Friday’s waaaaay back in the day (think 70’s and 80’s). It was a treat to watch their different skills and chat with all of them. So friendly. I mean like SUPER HAPPY to be there. So bosses; good hires, proper training and engagement has paid off after two years since you built this beauty. BTW, that’s what I do now. Build restaurants all Over the SE. if I could ever be of assistance….. On to the food. Best swordfish I can ever remember and we took Keaton’s advice and had in blackened. Perfectly cooked with tasty compound butter, asparagus, rice and plantains. Worth $60 at Burns Steakhouse but only $26 at Salt Shack. Grouper Bites very good but could be warmer. I think they sat waiting on our other app, Smoked Mahi Dip. Why not send out apps as they are freshly prepared? No ones cares about that like they do for a main course. We waited about 15 min for apps. Takes three min to cook those bites. Anyway, still a 5 star perforce for this magically designed and built waterfront gem. 6 stars for Keaton! Mr. Rich appreciates the entire staff that made this day special after my brother and I visited our 96 year old mom 1.5 miles away. I will be back very month with several projects in the area and will always stop by and enjoy your hospitality. Until them, “Keaton! hold down the fort!”

Absolutely loved the ambiance, next to the water. Our server Anthony was phenomenal in explaining the menu. To start we had the coconut shrimp 🍤, OMG 😋...the citrus sauce is what took it to another level. We had the mussels & catch of the day, the grouper! The mussels were absolutely phenomenal & delicious! Flavor of shallots & garlic on point with the butter. The grouper was baked in a bag, loved that it had no "fishy" flavor! Recommend 10/10.

OMG the Jerk Burger was awesome. We'll be back. The view of the water was spectacular. Our server Cam Y was very attentive. The facility was clean and people were spaced at least 6 ft. apart. As tables cleared out, I observed the crew quickly bus and disinfect the tables. I was very impressed. Good food, clean and a friendly staff. And handicap accessible and yes high chairs for the kids. I decided to go there on a Friday around 5pm. I had to wait over an hour for a party of five table but I'm still giving a 5 star because the service and attention was better than expected for a busy time like that. To me waiting too much is very frustrating but if it's worth it I don't mind. Destiny, our waitress helped us out with the menu and cocktail choices and even when she was busy running around, she always stopped at our table to see if we needed anything. Service like this is hard to find these days. Food was excellent and I will be back. Keep it up!!!

This is not just a meal, it's an experience! Our waitress was awesome; food was amazing (the Mahi-Mahi spread/dip appetizer took me by surprise and the pina colada cheesecake puts the Cheesecake Factory to shame); and the views were, of course, beyond beautiful. Visiting from Texas and this being our first day in Tampa, I've gotta say that going to places like these makes me wish I lived here. It's family-friendly (we have 1 infant and 1 toddler asking to go again), spacious outdoor seating and even a scenic path to walk down with a drink is truly something special. Everything we had - from the kids' meal which I stole from to the adult drinks which I downed - was breathtaking.

We try fish tacos and were really salty, chicken sandwiches were just ok and yuca fries came with a horrible sauce on top getting soggy really bad. Not sure if it's always like that or maybe they had a bad day on the kitchen. We will give them a second chance to see how it goes.

This is my first time here. This place is literally 5 minutes from my house and I didn't even know it existed! I cannot express the FEELING of being here. It has the ambiance of a high-dollar Beach resort in the MIDDLE OF SOUTH TAMPA! There is multi-level seating and it seems as though the entire place was designed so that the sunset was visible from every seat. The food is simply AMAZING! I had the catch of the day grilled with lemon pepper and seasonings. It was simply superb. The restrooms are clean and the staff is very attentive. This place is now in my top 3 all time local favorites and I will be visiting again!

We love trying new places, especially ones that are independent and not a Chain. We were Not disappointed. The greeters and server were very good. The timing was on point and the Fish tacos were A-maz-ing. The bathroom was clean and the surrounding grounds were well taken care of. Only downside is the hightop chairs were too high for a 5'3" shorty like me, which is not on them just my personal preference. All in all jumping down off the chair was well worth it.

We wanted to go somewhere at first recomended by a local on the way but we got to get there by accident. Food was great (shrimps were very fresh and tasty) and bloody mary was the best I've had in Tampa so far. We liked a lot the view on the bay with chairs for a drink.

Fish on my tacos were more like room temperature but the blackened flavor was amazing. The shrimp curry was the bomb! Rice and peas on point for this to not be a Jamaican restaurant I was extremely surprised. Will definitely come back.

Salt Shack on the Bay is located on a lovely bay perfect for watching sunsets. I've been here several times and often suggest this venue for gatherings. The food is good with a decent mix of bar type food as well as nosh for the foodie. I had the raw oysters and Gaspar's Tuna Tartare. The service (and occasionally food) CAN be hit or miss. Today Destiny was our server and she was AMAZING. We had a large party of about 20 people spanning 3 tables and she handled everything with grace and excellent service. We were there for over 5 hours and Destiny's shift was coming to a close. Unfortunately the person taking over for her was nothing like her. One person in our group (who'd obviously had too much to drink) made an admittedly distasteful joke asking the young man if he was old enough to be serving us. The young man jeered at him, looked at our group and replied "I won't be serving you now". Having been in the service industry I understand that customers can be rude and unsavory, however I also know that you don't punish 19 people for the poor actions of 1. I was able to get another server to help us. He was pleasant enough. The manager also stopped by our group to ask how everything was. We didn't tell him about the bad server - but in hindsight should have (as a teaching moment for the young man and the betterment of the establishment). Previously I'd been there on a slow weekday night and sat at the bar. The service was terrible and they kept getting our order wrong & giving the wrong food to the wrong people (there were 8 people at the bar & 4 people attending to us).

Beautiful views of the bay and Gandy Bridge. The staff was super friendly and we were set right away. The restaurant was busy during lunch however our food was brought out quickly. The appetizer of calamari tentacles were over cooked but the rings we're cooked almost perfect. The grilled grouper was excellent and it was a nice size piece unlike you receive in some restaurants. I will definitely be heading back.

The best location ever! You might get the chance to see dolphins while enjoying your food! I ordered Island Grilled Chicken and overcooked Chimichurri steak, and there were absolutely fine and delicious. I would definitely go back!

Great spot to chill. The view and the atmosphere is top notch. Usually have some type of live music going. As far as food and drinks you're gonna get your average "beach bar and grill" type of fair. Everything is pretty average, but it is a great spot for friends, family, or group get togethers.

The atmosphere here is incredible. Great beach side bar. If you're just grabbing some beers, that's your best choice. The mixed drinks were pretty dn good.... Once you stir them yourself. For some reason, none came actually mixed. Just alcohol on top of the mixer. The rest of my party loved their food but my chicken sandwich was so dry that halfway through, my jaw hurt from trying to chew. So just come grab some beer on the bay and enjoy the scenery.

Complete outdoor hoppin' place! Good drinks & food, fun atmosphere of the islands with fantastic sunset views from almost anywhere you sit. I had the fish tacos. They were well seasoned with a tasty slaw and pineapple relish topping. Moscow miles were perfect. As this is all outdoors, prepare to clip your hair back for wind or dress as weather dictates.

Cool place when we went it was packed. There was a two hour wait for a table so we ended up just getting drinks and apps. The view was great, the sunset right over Gandy, making for some great pictures and views. The food was okay, the fritters we kind of cold when they came out, the tuna tartare was great but the peel and eat shrimp were over cooked. The cocktail list was extensive and the drinks were extremely affordable. Overall very cool spot.

I absolutely love this place. If your looking for a chill spot to meet friends, have dinner with the fam or have a cocktail with your favorite person this is the spot. We went to have a drink and enjoy the view of the bay. My mojito was on point, just the right amount of sweetness and lime plus I loved that they weren't stingy with the mint! Even though the staff were super busy they also maintained their professionalism with a touch of kindness. We had a great time chilling at the bar listening to live music and then took a nice walk down the pier. We didn't eat but the food looked and smelled amazing... we'll definitely be back for dinner soon!

This place is right on the bay and pretty big. I’m sure it’s beautiful for sunsets and or romantic dates. They had a live band that had a pretty decent playlist though the singer was ok, but on key. They had the band in the main center bar that was pretty big and well lit. The lighting was dim and not to strong. Hostesses were very nice and welcoming and we were seated with a party of four pretty quickly. Service was friendly and fast. Our food came out pretty fast as well and there was a good tone between the appetizers and main course. I’d say the food was ok and a little expensive for the quality. I wouldn’t come back for the food but defiantly the atmosphere. Good luck :)

Went there for a friends birthday. The drinks were okay. The only thing I didn’t like is that our server was amazing but the bartenders seemed a bit slow. My friend got the dirty martini and both times it was off. She hoped the second would be better. Nope. The food was absolutely delicious. Hence the 4 stars. We got the ahi stack and I wish I took a picture of it. We will be back. The sunsets must be amazing here.

The atmosphere and vibe is amazing here. I had to take off a star because the food is "ok" (needs more seasoning) and the wait staff is slow as heck. Even on a slow night they tend to meet up and chat instead of tending to their tables. Other than that it's a nice place to take anyone who is visiting without driving all the way to the Gulf Coast.

The reason I love Salt Shack is because of the atmosphere. Great spot for sunset, can walk near the water, outdoor bar, feels like you’re on vacation. I always get so excited to go, but I forget the food is not great 😔 Dry sandwich buns, expensive dry fish, expensive small and skinny steaks, it’s mostly dry and expensive! Also, last time we were there on a weekday and walked right up to the hostess, told them we want to eat inside, and got our names on the list for a 45 minute wait. We went over to the bar and got some drinks and appetizers, and got a text our table was ready as soon as the apps came out. We didn’t want to make our waitress by the bar have to wait for us, so we took our apps in hand over to the hostess booth to transition to our indoor table. When we got over there, she said it would be another 10-15 minute wait because we were switching from outdoor to indoor table, so we had to get “re-added” to the list, and several other tables were doing the same. We explained that we never wanted an outdoor table, we were on the list for indoor table so that is their mistake. They were too stubborn to fix the mistake and just kept repeating the same thing over and over, so we stood at the hostess stand with our beers and appetizers, eating and drinking there awkwardly. Several other groups came up and were seated before us. Twenty minutes later we finally got a table, after reminding the hostess several times that we should be seated soon. Our waitress was super super nice, probably because she knew she needed to make up for the poor attitude and communication at the hostess booth. We won’t be going back to salt shack, I’d rather go to Hula Bay!

Wonderful water view atmosphere. Food was good, beverages were well poured, only downside was limited bathroom facilities for the size of the location. The staff was very accommodating, and actually worked to allow a couple with a handicap to use a restroom while asking other patrons to wait to allow privacy. This was an awesome gesture, however, it did highlight the lack of a family restroom or additional facilities. I'm hopeful they can address that.

Our first time at the Salt Shack. It is on a Tuesday around 1pm – the crowd was starting to thin at this time. When we walked up, there was a bit of confusion, as to where the hostess stand was. There was no staff near the wooden stand to the left of the t-shirt display, so we kind of wandered in and stood by the pony wall. Kind of felt invisible at this point. My husband walked over to some staff members by the other wooden area off to the right for assistance. We chose to dine by the water at one of the picnic tables. With the breeze off the bay and the large umbrellas, it was quite nice. Our service was lovely and the food was delicious. One point that I felt needed to be mentioned, so mgmt. can possibly make some changes. The ladies restroom was not made to accommodate women. There is a short row of recessed can lights located between the row of bathroom stalls and the long shared sink. When you close the stall door, it becomes a dark, dank dungeon. And with no lighting above the sink mirrors, you can forget checking your makeup – nothing but shadows of doom and gloom. The only thing catching light in this restroom are the straps holding the mirrors up – filthy and covered in dust bunny condos. Please get some cute nautical lights, and place by the side or over top of each mirror and move the can lights back about two feet, so they are over the stalls.

This place is busy on a nice weather day. We sat by the water on one of their picnic tables. Reds, purples and oranges painted across the sky while dancing like fire against the water. Everything started out great. Even the dog was enjoying herself. We were munching on the smoked fish spread and fries, while the dog was slurping that cold water from a bowl our server, Lauren, had brought. Just then, the light began to fade. I saw movement out of the corner of my eye, ok, just a bug. Wait, that looks like a termite. Our main courses had arrived. Time to dig in. Literally. Between swatting the pests off our clothes and food, I had to eat some rubbery shrimp. I had been craving shrimp the past few months and this was the second time in completely different cities from seafood restaurants that my shrimp came out like shredded tires. So I felt completely dejected as this place was chosen by my partner and supposed to be having a great time. I wish there were more warnings about the bugs. We still had the feeling of their crawling on our skin for hours after our visit. One of the few great aspects offered from Salt Shack on the Bay was our server, so I haven't completely ruled out ever going back. I'll try it again.

Tried out this restaurant/bar on Sunday afternoon. Great location with a nice view of the bay and the Gandy bridge causeway. This new venue has a large covered dining area and another large pavilion with seating all the way around the enormous bar with several TV monitors on two sides. There are optional picnic and hightop tables available but not much shade anywhere else on the property. We ordered four different meals and all were very good in quality, preparation, and taste. This place seems to be a popular spot for dog lovers since there were almost as many four legged patrons and all were well behaved. Smoking is not allowed at the open-air bar pavilion area but there is a small designated area near the edge of the property. The bar area was possibly under staffed but it appeared they were just not focused on attentive service. This could be a real problem during a heavy crowd so I’ll have to update this review when I visit during one of those times. I’m very glad to have the Salt Shack in the SOG (South of Gandy) and wish them a great future.

I went for the grand opening today, July 1st. It had a soft opening prior to today's grand opening. They offered some appetizers from their menu. The fish spread was delicious, the boiled shrimp were overcooked, the ahi tuna was yummy, and the hushpuppies with sauce on it were very spicy for me. Now that I've been here one time, I know how to prepare for my future visits. Drinks are served in plastic cups, so now I know to bring my Solo cup koozie. It was very hot out, and my beer got warm quickly. Because it is on the water there is a nice strong breeze. Ladies with long hair might need a ponytail holder or a hat.

Great views. It was extremely windy on the day we visited but the location is great. The beers were reasonably priced, but no happy hour unfortunately. We had the hot peel and eat shrimp and some conch fritters and both were fantastic. I was in Tampa back in June abs my friend and I tried to come here and there was a two hour wait. So we were back in Tampa and finally got in! It was an hour wait, but we got seated within 35 minutes. My food was just okay. The calamari was great, but I was not overly impressed with my burger and fries. Great atmosphere though! I’d definitely come back to try something different.

My Family & I had an Amazing Culinary Experience here Today! There was a 10min. wait to be seated but it went past quickly. The Open Air Building is Nice and Airy with Lots of Decor to look at & Tampa Bay Also! It's Nice and Airy & the seating is Spread out Nicely So No one is 'Crowded'. The Food is Very Delicious & We Tasted the Best Fried Calamari Appetizer Ever!Some Restaurants Over Bread it & it becomes Chewy.,Not in this case though,YUM!The Staff was Very Friendly & Accomadating.The Prices are nice .I Highly Recommend this Restaurant & May Your Experience here be a Satisfying one also!😍

We made the mistake of going during the "golden hour" of sunset. Even on Tuesday this place is immensely popular at that time. We were told our wait was going to be about 75 minutes and it was closer to 60. Had a drink and a nice short stroll along the bay while we waited. I am kicking myself because I do not remember the name of our server because he was wonderful. He checked up on us frequently and our drinks were always kept full. He also kept us up to date on the progress of our food. The restaurant was incredibly busy and yet he made us feel like we were his only customers. The food was delicious!

What a great environment! The food was delicious and it made for a great date spot. My wife and I went here for a little date while visiting Tampa and it was a nice place to be. The warmers on the patio could use some work (I’m sure management already has enough on their plate) but worth noting. The food was very good along with the drinks.

Really great spot to check out a great sunset. Lots of fresh seafood on the menu. The crab cakes are some of the best I have ever had. Conner recommended the jerk burger as the best non seafood item on the menu, and it did not disappoint. The cooks know how to properly cook to medium here as well.

As we were driving down a somewhat industrial looking road, I was having doubts we were headed in the right direction. But, there at the end of the road, seated right on the bay was the oasis name Salt Shack! It must not be a very well kept secret because by the time we left the place was packed. I had a bucket of mussels that were delicious. My wife had coconut shrimp which she really enjoyed. We would definitely come back here when we're in the area. They are dog friendly and brought our pup a nice bowl of water. Also check out the nearby Picnic Island dog park.

Wife and I had lunch with another couple. You may think you're lost driving through a heavy industrial area before reaching the restaurant on the bay. We got there early so we could get a table on the water. Nice views. Food is good and drinks are reasonably priced. Good service.

Loved it! Great and scenic location... Floribbean atmosphere and decor. Staff is kind and courteous. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to dine...this time but the drinks and cocktails were fantastic. We'll definitely be back to dine and hear some good reggae music.👍🏼👍🏼🙂

My sister and I came here for the first time and we had a great experience. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming and our waiter was awesome. He recommended the rum runner drink and it was amazing. I appreciate his hard work! The food was excellent and we had a great view. Whenever I visit Tampa this will be my go to spot!
