Simple, straightforward, american cuisine! Everything was made to perfection. I had the Chicago dog, which I believe is a must try for any adventurous eater in their life. I have to say it is the most unique preparation of a dog I've eaten and in a good way. We also had the cheese fries, I tried the onion rings, and had a chocolate malt shake which was one of the best I've had. The order was on time, correct, and everything you'd need for to go was in the bag (napkins. Utensils, etc.) Absolutely loved the food and the environment, although I took the food to go. Only thing I'd say is their large is quite large so the portion sizes were a little big for me, especially the shake so keep in mind it'll be more than enough, even for some heavier eaters out there like myself.

1st time at Portillo's. All I can say is wow. The Portillo hot dog was awesome. The Maxwell Street Polish sausage was amazing. The chocolate eclair cake was out of this world. Everything had great taste, price is reasonable and great customer service. Joey V says, "I'll be back "

It's like going to Disney but with much better food. Gorgeous interior and incredible sandwiches. You have to try the Big Italian with peppers, it's the best! Honestly eat that thing.

Portillo’s straight from Chicago. Quick service, the cheeseburger is awesome! The only downfall is that you cannot get a combo, just order sides seperately that bumps up the price.

I was in Tampa for a few days and to my surprise….. Portillo’s!!! This place is like no other. I had the pleasure of enjoying the location in Chicago. This was a high standard to meet and the Tampa location didn’t disappoint. I enjoyed the fully loaded hotdog and I was instantly taken back to Chicago. Excellent service and everything the Portillo’s is known for. Enjoy!

Wow. This place is amazing. Great food at great prices, and the Chicago Prohibition-era theme was great talking point to teach my kids. They visited Alcatraz and Al Capone's spot, and it made for great fodder, but the dogs, rings, and fries blew me away. It was really good and very well run, clean. Top notch

Grabbed lunch with the kids. It was pretty empty and we ordered right away. Staff was very friendly and it all came out quick. The portions were pretty small though. We had to go back and order more because we didn't get full. Other than that it would have got a 4/5 rating.

Enjoyed our first visit to Portillo's. Food was really good and it was plentiful. We only wish they would offer combo meals for a more reasonable price instead of pricing everything separately. As we looked over a paper copy of a to-go menu ( with no prices) it looked like they offered combos but after ordering we were charged for each individual item. $33 was a little more than we expected for lunch for the two of us, especially for sandwiches and fries. Live & learn. We will return but pay more attention to the prices.

FANTASTIC! Love the food & service! Everything from Chicago hot dogs, beef sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, cheese French fries, etc... it’s all great! Their ice-tea is awesome! During COVID times you must ask for ketchup when you pickup your food at the counter. Pro tips: do the survey on your receipt for free fries on next visit! Just take a screenshot on your phone for the code! Also, sign up on their email distribution for a free dessert during your birthday month! You CANNOT go wrong with Portillo’s. 😋

4yrs ago I gave this place a 5 star! It was flavorful & they offered the tamales. Update: 9/4/22 Italian beef was flavor less & I paid $40 for my entire order. The hotdogs were decent but come on don't do Chicago like this! Add some flavor to that beef!

Kind drive-through staff! They accommodated our last minute changes with a smile. Ordered the plant-based dog and eclair cake. Everything came out quick and fresh. Staff provided extra napkins and utensils for everyone without us asking. There are a lot of veggies on the hotdog, almost like a burger, but it somehow works. Surprisingly satisfying.

I’ve enjoyed Portillos from my childhood in Illinois ware this chain began. A lot fancier than the good old hot dog place I used to enjoy but brings back so many memories every time I walk in to get a couple Chicago hot dogs.

Best hot sliced beef sandwiches, Hot Dog's, Burgers, fries in town and you can get just about any toppings you want from hot peppers to sweet peppers and the peppers come sliced long, aju sauce, different cheeses, relish you can also have your beef sandwich dipped whole in aju. Pending on what you get it may be a little pricey. It was $35 and change for me and my dad to eat but we also got a piece of Chocolate cake. They also have really good Strawberry Short Cake and other deserts that are out of this world.

Food was amazing, the chocolate cake shake exceeded expectations. The lady who tour order wasn't the best, I ordered a combo but she rang up individually so it came out a little more expensive, and when we ordered a shake, she rang up a small shake and never asked if I wanted to upsize. Probably just as well for my calorie count, but next time I will make sure to get a large. Will go back for sure when in the area next.

Food was great, I was surprised to find one outside of the Chicago area, that is the only place I have seen them on the past. The only reason for the 3 star was because of the girl at the pick up counter. I went back up to the counter to get a refill on my drink and waited until I was acknowledged. She looked at me and said with a very short tone "if you want a refill you have to go to the drink station " I said I was sorry I thought this is where I was supposed to go and ask where it was. She point to her right and I thought she was pointing at another counter so I went there and the gentleman there said it was over there pointing where I had just come from. Not seeing anything in between the two counters I decided to just leave. I started to walk away when the girl at the first counter called out and said do you want a refill or not. I go back and she takes my cup and moves to the end of the pickup counter and fills my cup. I was literally 3 steps away from the soda machine when she pointed and said you have to go to the drink station. I hope she was just having a bad day and is not like this to customers all the time.

When we were driving by my wife screamed PORTILLOS so loud that it startled me. We then visited 3 separate times during our trip to Tampa. Great location. Hope they expand into Tennessee as well. Italian beef dipped with cheese fries and a chocolate cake shake. #chefskiss

The burger was very runny. Not very enjoyable. Atmosphere is very weird with the layout of the tables and seats. Personally I prefer the orlando location. More upbeat

I grew up with Portillo in Addison Illinois. They had a little stand with wheels Mrs. Portillo used to bring us hotdogs at lunchtime in first grade. So good. I usually get the beef combo with sweet and hot peppers but everything is good here.

They're still insisting you wear masks here. Dining room is not nearly as awesome as the Buena Park, CA., restaurant, but has a lot of the same decor. No tommy guns or mob mans. A disappointment, after frequenting the BP establishment from the beginning. However, the dining room is bigger, and has 6 booths.

Glad to see they have locations other than Chicago. Love the Italian beefs and Chicago dogs, hard to get authentic ones outside Chicago and you can get then here. Although the place gives you the feel of Chicago, the food almost compares with ones you get from visiting Chicago. Dipped should be dipped, soaking wet not little wet. Also itailain beef hot, should be spicy and not mild. Other than that reminds me of Chicago, glad I was able to visit here. Staff and food were great.

Probably the closes way I’ll get to a taste of Chicago lol. Extremely different experience that I loved, food was well prepared and just delicious! The fries with the cheese were out of this world! I got an Italian beef sandwich dipped with hot peppers, it was sloppy and just tasted great! Also got a Chicago stile hot dog which was the best hot dog I’ve ever had! I had to come back here because I tried this place a for the first time when they first opened and didn’t know what to order so I had got a cheese burger then my friend looked at me crazy and told me to get the beef sandwich, Chicago style dog with cheese fries. Was money well spent will be coming here more often!

We visited Tampa on vacation, we live in DFW but are from the Midwest and love Chicago food and so when I saw Portillos was in the area we had to make a stop. Just as amazing as we remembered! We were a bit short on time so did an online order and it was ready on time and everything was excellent - cannot wait until y'all come to the DFW area! :)

I love the burguers, the beer, the service and the atmosphere. The bathrooms are clean, the servers are polite. The only downside it's the shakes , the quality it's poor, it's better a frosty or a sonic than one from here. The Italian beef sandwich is soggy, wet and the beef is dry . They need to drenched the meat in meat juice to give it a flavor and hydrated again the beef... never again the Italian sandwich. The chicken sandwiches are good, the tomatoes are fresh, not grainy, if you know what I mean. They haven't mess up my order so far since I have gone there. The beer it the right temperature, glass are clean and tables too.

Enjoyed the seasonal salad Apple Walnut with raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Tons of gorgonzola cheese, apple squares, baby spinach...all fresh & delish. The burgers were flame broiled & huge. The side of Ciabatta bread & butter was plentiful & again, fresh as can be. As I was leaving, a young man asked how everything was & left a BOGO on the table! Great food, cool atmosphere & nice folks. Def recommend. They also do catering & check out the "gift card offer" in my photos! 😉

Fast, best customer service and excellent food. Tried this for the first time, Don't see many of these in Florida. When you pull up to the building it looks like your back in time, really cool decorated outside, clean and neat. When you walk in the inside is really cool and easy to find the register. Now ordering is a different story, there's so much on the menu to choose from and they have so many different ways that the food is fixed it might be hard to figure out what to eat. The Chile is amazing with the hotdogs, the sweet sausage with beef topped with peppers and onions was excellent. You can also get it without the bread, which really gives you a great flavor. You will enjoy the shakes and cake's too.

Awesome food but I've had "mixed" experiences here. First time visiting was perfect and we got everything in our order correct. Second time they forgot half of it (a salad that never got made) then handed it to me without bread....and everything just took a while. I'm guessing this was a training day :-P Either way, I still highly recommend this spot! Great Chicago style hotdogs and their chopped salad is AMAZING. Get em both.

Just like Chicago without the large lines!! I was surprised at how dead it was at 1130am. In Chicago the lines are wrapped around the building and out of the parking lot with 2 lanes open and people outside taking orders. Beef and Burgers are just as good as they are in Chicago! Highly recommended!!

Great service! Clean place. Employees are all decently satisfied, it seems. They all smile. They quickly notice you and ask if you need anything or a refill despite being super busy. Very polite. I didn’t like how flimsy the chili dog packaging was (we dined in but I mean what the chili dog came in). However, their good attitudes make up for it. Great service!

Brothers birthday pick, happy 46 to him. I've been here before, the quality is always good. Lots of clearance for wheelchairs. You go through a corral to order, they give you a pickup number no loudspeaker interrupting your meal, it's just a human calling your number. Ate a fabulous Italian sausage smothered with Italian meat. Crinkle cut fries and an upgrade to a milkshake rounded out my standard order. As a sidenote, ordering an Italian sausage without the meat topping is more expensive. Don't ask me, I don't make the rules. Their salads used to taste like rotten lettuce 🥬, but the quality has improved immediately in the last year. Also have a perfect Chicago dog. I guess since that's where they started, they darn well better!! No pictures this time, great selections of desserts. That's a wrap, err a bun... Either way, this review is done. Post note, bathroom's are wheelchair accessible, if you can get the employees on their phone's out of the singular stall in each gender.

This is extremely average, over-priced, cafeteria food jazzed up with a nice atmosphere. The cake shake saved it from only getting 2 stars, and the employees were pretty pleasant too.

Good first experience. Burger was tasty for someone who usually prefers a medium patty to a char-grilled well one. The cashier was really friendly and funny, and food was prepared pretty quickly. While more expensive for a burger combo than your run of the mill fast food at a place that doesn't offer wait service, the burger and fries were better than average in portion size and taste. Next time definitely going to downsize the meal and try a shake or dessert option. Overall, I'd go again, but for $17/person for a lunch meal after upsizing charges and taxes, there are definitely better options for lunch specials nearby that offer better value for the money and more exciting/tasty options. For dinner, where specials are less common, Portillo's is a solid pick.

We got a chili dog, burger, fries and a shake. All the food was absolutely amazing. Literally every single item. The burger meat was not greasy at all. The inside is large and beautiful. Seat yourself. The staff is friendly. A+ experience. Unequivocally the highest tier in fast food without a single doubt.

My Italian beef was very good. My wife got the guns sandwich, it was kinda chewy but ok. The onion rings were good, but I like battered rather than breaded. The staff there is excellent, super friendly, very helpful. Overall a very good place to eat, next time I go for hot dogs!!

Great atmosphere, unfortunately the service and food was terrible. When we finally got our orders they looked like they were thrown together (couldn't eat as a sandwich they were so messy. The ice had completely melted in drinks before getting order, and everything tasted like it had been dipped in liquid smoke! $50 was too pricey for a couple of hot dogs ad and a hamburger and 2 small drinks. I really wanted my money back!!

He helped me choose from the catering menu, to take more home for supper. I will be back this week to take some back to Mt. Top Pa. Please come to Pa. Florida is too far away! YUM YUM!

And this is the other location in Florida. I hope they are looking to open more around the state to make access to their products better. My preferred meal is a beef dipped with hot Giardiniera, fries and a coke but everything is good given the chance. They even have beer available at the dessert counter. They make really good, ribs and pasta and I have even enjoyed a salad. Something for the whole family and any Chicagoan's looking for a taste of home. Take the time and enjoy the decor while you are here, and it is different in every location.

The food here is absolutely fantastic. I grew up eating portillos in Chicago, and I am really happy that this Tampa location kept the consistency going. The only reason for 4/5 is because there was quite a long wait for the food during the dinner rush. Besides that this is a great restaurant and I will be coming back for sure!

I’m from Chicago so I’m familiar with Portillos. Decided to try this one yesterday. Ordered online thru Google. Besides a little confusion with my order, my order was complete, which I much appreciate, and the Italian beef sandwiches were outstanding. I drove 30 min each way. Worth it!

Came for a late lunch. Grilled chicken salad for the Mrs and a Maxwell and fries for me. Both were excellent as always. Not at all crowded and there were some tables and floor that needed some attention. Cashier was friendly and the rest of the place was great. Also glad to see they haven't caved to the paper straw hysteria. Recommend Portillos all the time. Simply great.

Food is always tasty. I usually get the jumbo chilli dog and onion rings. Extremely good onion rings. The large milkshake is big enough to split. Service is usually slower than other fast food places, BUT your food is cooked when ordered. So your food is always hot.

First time eating dinner and was very surprised with the service! The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was that of late Chicago, it was welcoming and am exciting place to eat at! I would recommend going after Bush Gardens! It's a little hidden but worth it! I would recommend going with Family or friends and enjoying the night or day out!

I have lived in Chicago for several years prior to moving to Tampa. My husband is your typical suburban Chicago guy who enjoys his beef sandwich. So yes, we indulged like fat people eating Al's, Portillo's and (insert famous Chicago beef sandwich places here) when we feel like we earned it, which is usually after we walked 5km with the dog. So when I aced my US citizenship interview in Tampa, what did we do? Celebrate at Portillo's like fat Americans that we are (ha, I am now an American!), ordered grand chocolate cake milk shakes that are around 1500 calories per drink, onion rings, fries, and beef sandwiches. It's just the price of freedom. Everything in this Portillo's is the same as with Chicago, even the onion rings and the yummy shake. But, I have to say, the beef sandwiches are too dry. In Chicago, no matter which branch you go to, if you order a dry beef sandwich, it will still be soggy enough to wet the bread. You bite into it and the sauce will explode in your mouth and melt with the beef. However, in Tampa's Portillo's, the beef sandwich is so dry, you taste the iron in the beef. It's sad. I certainly felt less American as there's less oil, less fat, and less calories enveloping my mouth in this particular Portillo's. I hope they improve it to Chicago's standard because I am willing to gain 30 pounds to get to eat those great sandwiches again.

Authentic Chicago food, The grilled onions were perfectly layered on a char grilled Polish sausage on the Maxwell Street. I order it on there wonderful Gonnella French rolls as you can see and add an "Ever" Chicag Dog on the side. Great joint, thank you Dick for coming down here!

I grew up in Illinois and have eaten at Portillo's many times. It has always been one of my favorite restaurants, so imagine how excited I was to find one in Florida. Unfortunately, the Italian beef was missing something and did not taste as good as the Illinois version. The onion rings were okay, but they were mostly just breading. The prices were very high for the quality of food. The restaurant looked like Portillo's on the inside but, unfortunately, the food was lacking. In illinois, Portillo's is always jam-packed with customers. This place was almost completely empty. That should tell you something right there...

One of the staff was kind enough to share some of the history of the founder of Portillos and I was pretty intrigued and love hearing success stories such as this restaurant. Founded in the 60’s as a hot dog stand! The food was incredible and very well priced for the quality. Would definitely recommend. Music and atmosphere were applauded as well.

Pretty good place! I've only been there once, and it was very unique. They call everything over a speaker, and it's pretty impressive. The staff was friendly, but seemed to need a little more training before being put in front of a busy crowd. She was unable to answer any questions and had to go find someone to help. I wish I had pictures to share the experience. The place is unique in it's "to go" style eatery. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The burger was tasty, chili cheese dog looks awesome, and the Italian beef made me regret not getting it instead. Would definitely recommend if you need something quick to eat.

We drove by and saw this place from the road. From a distance, I suspected it might be an Italian place but then I saw the sign said they server burgers, so we pulled in. I kind of thought at that point it was like a typical American style bar and grille but was pleasantly surprised when I got inside and saw it wasn't. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the whole vibe of the place. Even the music gave it a sort of old timey Americana fun feel. It makes me sort of think of boardwalks and fairs from old movies or movies that are supposed to depict old times. I even like the little touches like the star neons on the high black ceiling. The service was quick and friendly and the food was good and there are a lot of choices like burgers, ribs, fish, salads, pastas, malts, shakes, etc. considering it basically is a grown up hot dog stand. Highly recommend for American faire.

This is a mixed bag review. First visit to our neighborhood Potrillo's, used drive thru due to time constraints. Service was incredibly fast, prices meet the market standards and cashier was friendly. We ordered the Italian Beef (dipped) added onions and sweet peppers. Meat is flavorful and tender, onions and peppers nicely grilled, gravy on point. I did enjoy this sandwich. Also, we ordered the Jumbo Chili Cheese (no onion). Let me start with saying that we FIRST eat with our eyes...appearance "fail". More chili on the paper and coffee filter than the dog. I don't recall ordering chili paper...but that's what we received. Secondly the entire dog was smashed inside of the coffee filter. Portillo's, even Circle K has hot dog boxes, and they cost less?? Regarding flavor, there was none except "odd". Seriously hoping we won't regret eating any of it as the dog itself was funky. Chili was just a watery paste with 2 beans. Epic Fail Portillos! Fries were good, you can tell oil was clean and not broke down as they didn't have taste of other foods that you get so many times. Coleslaw was "ok", very basic. Not much effort put into it.

There’s nothing wrong with the food, we ordered a curbside pick up and I waited 30 minutes with two other cars that were in the spots and I decided to come in to see what was the hold up. The worker stated oh we are not doing curbside pickup due to short staff. Our food was sitting there for a bit and luckily it was still warm. Right before we got there someone was working curbside because I watched the guy bring out food to the car. They should put a note on the curbside pick up sign for us to come in.

Prices are average/reasonable and it will not break the bank. There is plenty of seating in the dinning area and they can accommodate large parties. When it was delivered by Door Dash I took the order inside only to discover the extra sauce was not included. I called the store on Fowler and expressed my disappointment of not receiving the extra sauce. The female who said she was the manager told me I can come by to pick it up. I already paid the fee plus tip for delivery why would I drive there to pick up sauce. She said that there was sauce on the sandwiches. The sandwiches were dry! . I think I've decided I like their Beef-N-Sausage sandwiches Extra Gravy. This time I got the Combo Beef and Char-Grilled Sausage sandwich, which I think I might like more than just the Italian Beef sandwich. I recommend either of those two sandwiches. I also got the (I believe limited edition) strawberry lemon Cake Shake. It was good at first, but it was way too much frosting and sugar and was hard to finish. The Chocolate Cake Shake is much better and much more balanced. – A note I always forget: for their drink sizes, think Checkers. Usually with shakes, places do a small and a regular, with the latter being like a medium. Their "small" is a medium, and their "large" is definitely large. Separate from this visit, I have had their Flounder Sandwich (without the tartar sauce), which I would not order again. I didn't find a difference of worth to distinguish it from McDonald's Fillet-O-Fish.

It's been four days and I'm still thinking about it. Very popular place around lunch time. The line was a little long and they only had one cashier doing his best. We weren't in a hurry so it didn't bother us; but I bet people on their lunch hour might get a little frustrated. We were in the mood for hotdogs and the Char-grilled Maxwell Street Polish sausage and the Chicago-style Beef dog didn't disappoint us! The fries and malt shakes were also yummy! We had to clean our table before sitting down. Don't know if that is normal or they were short staffed or staff didn't care.

I love the nostalgic feel of this place but like every busy popular place it has its issues. I have been here several times and the food is good but my only complaint is that no matter what you order something is always cold by the time you get it whether it be a burger, hot dog or fries at least one of them is always cold and I can't understand that because they are making right there in front of you. However, I will continue to go back because the food whether hot or not does taste great.

Tampa is so lucky to have a Portillo’s in town! The hot dogs are EXCELLENT, everything is made fresh to order. You really cannot go wrong. Fries and onion rings are crispy and delicious. The service is excellent and fast. Prices are more than reasonable. I highly recommend the strawberry malt. It’s one of the best milkshakes I’ve ever had. If you haven’t made Portillo’s part of your regular life, you really are missing out.

Glad to see portillos in Florida. They have the best burgers, hot dogs and beef sandwiches. On this visit we ordered the beef. It was really good. I like it dipped meaning they dunk the whole sandwich in beef juice. Its so good but messy the juice will run down your arm. Have napkins on hand.

This place was freakishly good! I've never been to any of their establishments before so this was new and fun! I loved the styling and the layout. The staff were very friendly and patient while I struggled to pick something since everything looked and sounded so good. I choose the double bacon cheese burger and I would recommend it to anyone who's having their first visit. I recommend this place in general for what its worth. 10 outta 10 I would do again!

The food is amazing. Everything we ordered was delicious but the customer service is even better. First the gentleman that took our order was so friendly and on top of all our special requests. Secondly the General Manager (wish I could remember her name but I'm bad with names) was above amazing. We had one issue with our order, the door dasher never showed up with our order. 😆 The GM immediately told me they are making our order again and she is personally driving it over to us at our hotel. Less than half an hour she brought us our fresh and hot food. Not only did she go above and beyond personally delivering to us, she threw in a piece of the most delicious lemon cake (my boyfriend's fave btw). Next time we are back in Tampa we will be ordering from them again. Love this place!

This place is great! Food's good, wait time was excellent (Got food for a party of 7 in about 5-10 minutes on a busy Friday lunchtime). Plenty of seating, decor (1930s Chicago to be exact) is spot-on, with vintage photos and old newspaper adverts. The staff are very friendly. In the two times I've visited, one of the waitresses had a short conversation with my party, and the food deliverer was very enthusiastic (he shouted out order numbers in little rhymes and had a good attitude, he had glasses, and a ponytail, great worker!). If any of the managers read this, give the guy a raise! If you're ever in the area, need a quick bite, even if you're just staying the night on a road trip, you should definitely visit this restaurant! Checks all the boxes, you won't regret visiting!

5 stars for service, cleanliness, atmosphere, and convenience. 4.5 stars for food in its category, the burger was delicious but I would have used a bigger bun, fries were fresh out of the fryer and not overcooked. All the staff had masks and face shields, cleaned the tables before and after we sat down, and maintained social distancing the entire time we were there.

Always have a good experience at Portillo's. Sometimes I'll go for a dog, but my favorite is the Italian Beef, extra wet, with hot peppers. Add a cold beer and, occasionally, one of the wonderful desserts and it's a perfect experience. Definitely recommend for a quick, casual meal that is sure to leave you satisfied.

The food is of a solid quality, the staff is very friendly to you. Interior and music are pleasing and bring the jazz mood. Especially liked their burger. The meat was very nice and chewy, sauce was A-1. But, for the price/quality the place definitely loses to its competitors. Wouldn't be my regular visit for that reason. We received great service at the counter with excellent recommendations for new visitors. We ordered a Hot Italian with sweet peppers, a cheeseburger all the way, and fries with a side a cheese sauce. Everything was great. I expected fast-food quality, but was pleasantly surprised to be wrong. The decor inside is very "old Chicago" with great attention to detail. Will be back.

So, my wife and I are from Chicago (where portillos originated) and coming here is a little slice of home. It was like walking in to any of the numerous other locations in and around Chicago. The sights, the sounds, the smells all the same. My only grip was with the speed of service. For any of you who have been to one of the Chicago locations knows the incredible speed and amounts of business they deal with. This location however didn't seem to have the same precision, but maybe it's just my high standard I've been lucky enough to experience. All in all, I'm so happy to have a little slice of home away from home.

So I am not rating on the good since we didn't eat because I wanted a cocktail and they don't sell liquor there. Having said that this place seemed pretty cool almost like a cafeteria. And the Italian food smelled amazing. They also have other things as well.. including hot dogs🤗. I will definitely be checking this out the next time I am in Tampa.

The food is great but if there's a line inside do yourself a favor, go through the drive thru or order online. The past two times I've gone (9:30 pm) it's taken over 20 min to order and receive one Big Beef and nothing else. Each person in front of you in line adds another 5-10 minutes to your order. A bit disappointing, we drive 30+minutes to enjoy the BEST charbroiled burger in the Bay. The strawberry shortcake did not disappoint, it never does. Please consider taking orders for a full sized cake. Great holiday treat.

Services was great and food is amazing! If you're not familiar with this place they are very famous in Chicago mostly for the Italian beef sandwich. I always add mozzarella cheese on mine and do the medium juice, so it's juicy but not falling apart. The spicy peppers have quite a kick so if you're sensitive go with sweet. Can't wait to come back!

My bf & I stopped in about 2 weeks ago & had lunch. He had the Italian sausage & Italian beef combo and I had the Italian sausage, pepper & onion...both were DELICIOUS!! Our experience was so good that I just had to speak to the manager & let him know. I told him everyone we came into contact with were great. They had smiles on their faces & went above & beyond for each customer. I also told him that I’ve been in Florida for over 16 years (from Jersey) & this was the very 1st time I had an authentic sausage, pepper & onion sandwich! I told him how I’ve had everything from a sausage crumble (yes, sausage crumble!!) sandwich to slices of some sort of sausage thrown on a roll. The sausage I had at Portillo’s was the real deal & was served as a whole link & grilled along with the peppers & onions. The bread was also some of the best I’ve had since moving here. If you’re looking for authentic Italian sausage & beef, this is the place to go!

Long time Portillo's fan from years in Chicago. The beef was seasoned perfectly which can be problematic when visiting after the dinner rush. Dog had that crisp snap that makes it worth the special trip, but what's with the hideous green relish? You know your roots - stick with the brown! Chopped salad is always a winner,, but I have to say I miss the lemon poppyseed muffin they had prior to switching to bread. Finally, the strawberry lemonade shake is a winner of an addition for a tasty summertime treat to wrap fabulous meal. When ever we are in Tampa in the future, we WILL be back!

This place is amazing!! We originally found this place in Chicago and fell in love. We were so excited to see that Tampa had one. Whenever we go to Busch gardens we have to come here. We get the “portillos dog” which is a hot dog with a pickle, onions, sweet relish, tomato, and a pepper. And then we order the beef sandwich dipped with American cheese and hot peppers. AMAZING!! As I’m writing this review I want it again. Lol. Original and tasty!

I have had their other sandwiches such as their grilled chicken sandwich and cheeseburger but am really impressed by how juicy, tender, and filling the Italian Beef sandwich is. During the time of COVID, they do a good job of adhering to social distancing guidelines and enforcing masks which makes the experience less anxiety provoking for picking up or dining in the restaurant. Make sure to try their cheese fries and their cake shakes (but just know you will be super full by the end of your meal). Thank you for great experiences over the years!

I'm a Chicagoan & was thrilled when they opened this so close to my house. Saturday, they goofed my family's take out order real bad. I was able to talk to the manager (Calvin), explain the situation & get the order corrected on my next visit. People make mistakes, but I was very satisfied with his earnest apology and the steps he took to square away the issue... thus its still my fav burger joint. 3yrs later & customer service is still above reproach. They messed up part of the order. Apologized with a smile, corrected my order & gave me a piece of 🥮 for the inconvenience.

Have been eating at Portillo's for over 45 years. Obviously I'm from Chicago. I was thrilled when they finally came here. I drive over 25 miles at least every 3 weeks or so to get my fix. As many years that I've been eating there I think the only thing I eat are Itialian beef sandwiches or beef and sausage combo or Chicago dogs. The food is great just like home, but my complaint is two fold. The service is terrible, and lately their beef sandwiches have shrunk in size. There is no doubt in my mind they are cutting back on the amount of beef they are using. I have been going there with several of my friends ever since they have opened and they have all noticed the big difference. I would eat a beef sandwich, fries and a drink and be totally stuffed. Now I usually go back and get a dog as I'm still hungry. The food is still great, but less portions and mediocre service is a negative. None of the many areas in the Chicago have bad service. NONE!

Great experience overall. I've had the beef sandwiches shipped in (frozen and do it yourself ) which was great but really wonderful to get the real deal at an actual restaurant. The Italian beef with extra gravy was excellent. The juice from the gravy soaked in the bread, combined with the spicy pickled peppers were delicious! My wife got the chili cheese dog which was pretty tasty as well. Only complaint was the chili was pretty sloppy, but this is the kinda food you gotta use your hands! Highly recommend this joint!

Excellent....got into Tampa after dinnertime and took a look on Google and this place sounded good. Had a really good Italian Beef sandwich with fries..ya gotta get at least the extra gravy on the beef. I'm not sure how it would go down as a dry sandwich. Taste like the sweet Chicago I know and love. Bother the Italian Beef or Italian Sausage are like no other anywhere, unfortunately especially here in Florida. Also have large delicious hamburgers and Chicago Hot Dogs like no other., Meat Ball sandwiches are very good too. Great salads of all kinds, just can never seem to get past the wonderful aroma of their Hot sandwiches. AND they have the most delicious chocolate cake you’ve EVER had plus a luscious Lemon Cake when in season.

First time there and it was very good. I had the bacon burger and fries and my husband had chicken sandwich and onion rings. His onion rings were not the best but everything else was excellent.

Cheese fries are AMAZING!!!! I love them sooo much. Their chocolate cake is just as delicious. Anytime I crave cheese fries this is the place I love to go to. I wish they had one open up in Wesley chapel though. I have to drive for it.

A definite taste of home - always visit when we are in the area! You can't beat the beefs and they make the best onion rings - yum! Tommy loves their tamales but I am a fan of the bacon burger. Don't think I've had something there I didn't like.

Food is always great! Employees are nice and the atmosphere is great. Get a number 5 and add a Chocolate Cake Shake. I'm hungry again just thinking about it.

Loved the atmosphere & menu. Love their salads, vegetarian lovers! The menu has something for everyone. As a treat I tried the hot dog. It was great with peppers, tomatoes, bunch of veggies on it. You've got try Portillo's! Their prices are great as well.

Really fast service, Amazing chocolate cake shake. The food was alright about what'd you expect for burgers, hot dogs and fries. You can seat yourself anywhere you'd like after ordering and getting your food.

Better than most fast food. I found the chili dog to be pretty tasteless but we had a steak sandwich that was really good and we like their fries. Not quite sure what all the excitement about it is but it's a decent place for fast food and a beer.

From Chicago and when I miss the food from back home portillo's never fails me. Tho you guys should bring chocolate malts and pizza puffs down like you guys have up north (Update) Found out that they actually have chocolate malts shakes exactly like back home all thanks to the branch manager Tarplin in which we had a great discussion about back home. Thank you ! Anyone looking for Chicago style pizza puffs they can be found at marathon's gas station on 40th.

Back in the 90's my career relocated me to the Chicago area. I lived in Naperville. I was looking for a great rib place and several mentioned Portillo's. I left behind one in Michigan. Not only is their ribs great but so much more. I was so pleased when two opened here. Recently the Tampa and Brandon locations stopped serving ribs. So not happy as I found that out when I went to one. I see they are back on the menu so will call my local one to ensure they are back.

Burgers and fries were really good but customer service really stunk. The young woman who took our order was not polite at all and after messing up our order we were treated like WE had made the mistake. Really infuriating. Atmosphere was hip and the decor was really cool, however, we don't plan on going back.

I got a chicken sandwich and it was very tasty. The lemon cake isn’t on the menu but is a summer treat that was delicious! Very generous portion and I will get again soon. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I loved the atmosphere

Drove 30 miles, back and forth, for an Italian beef, was craving. I don't regret the ride. My extra dipped, hot and sweet peppers, big beef was perfect. I encourage you to try Portillo's, they're are a franchise out of the Chicago, Il area. They sale great salads and ribs, along with burgers and an assortment of other delicious comfort foods!!

Have heard about this place for a while and decided to try it out. Walk in and order and wait briefly for food to be prepped and delivered to pick up area. Got the Maxwell dog and combo beef and sausage sandwich. Both were delicious. My wife got the baked mostaciolli and was happy. Cheese fries are crinkle cut with a cup of hot cheese to dip in. Really enjoyed our experience and definitely will return.

Great place to eat. Food was delicious and the staff was really nice. The cashier was fantastic. The inside was so cool old pictures and memorabilia. The outside was nice to and I liked the outside seating options.It was fantastic.

The food was delish. I tried the chili cheese dog which was kind of on the small side, but great tasting. The fried chicken sandwich on croissant was very good. I didn't care much for the tamales but my friend thought they were good (not great). The strawberry shortcake was also great. I would go back again!

I was an over the road truck driver for 10 years so I've been all around the US more times that I remember. I tried portillo's before in Chicago and now in the Tampa area and I have to say there was no difference between them same flavor you going to get in Chicago you're going to get in Tampa. Had some lunch and of course I couldn't pass the chocolate cake. If you don't eat anything else from portillo's definitely try the chocolate cake and order another one to go you will crave it later. The staff was great the food was phenomenal and like every portillo's store the decor was excellent. Next time you are in Tampa or Chicago you should stop and try it believe me you will not regret it. Did I mention the chocolate cake?

I literally just left and the food was great! I moved to Orlando last year from Chicago and was just craving a Italian Beef dipped with hot peppers and cheese.. it was just like home! Also, my trip was really special because of the hospitality that Sammie gave my boyfriend and I... he was so nice and sweet! Perfect FOH person! He should be recognized!!!
