Stopped in for lunch and ordered their char-broiled cheeseburger. I've been to Portillo's in the Chicago area (and Riverside, CA) before and it's cool to walk in and have the Chicago feel going. Cheeseburger was awesome. Fresh ingredients. Fries were hot and crispy. I'll be back!

Who doesn't love Portillo's??? Nice to have a little bit of Chicago burns in the Tampa area. While we are not from the Windy, I spent a lot of time working in Chicago and Joliet with my last company. Portillo's was always nearby for those lunchtime quick fixes. The debate will go on for ever as to who has the best Chicago style hot dog and who has the best Italian Beef sandwiches in Chicago. I have tried so many of them and they all have different levels of likes and dislikes for me. But overall, Portillo's seems to reach a happy middle ground for me. The Dog is good and has all the correct elements. The beef is good as well. Good seasonings and tender as always. Love the krinkle cut fries too. Occasionally we will splurge on a cake shake as well. What I did not realize is that we have been visiting this location for the past 5 years and had not posted a review. As a foodie, I sincerely apologize for that. I will upload pics from previous visits today to help make up for lost time. Always clean and staff is always friendly. Fair warning, this place can get really busy. If you have been to a Portillo's in Chicago, it is no different down here. That says a lot for the chain! Nice job!

Portillo’s was clean and the staff were very friendly. The salad was good with the exception of soggy cucumbers. We ordered three hot dogs. They were all good but the outer skin was tough and difficult to chew. The French fries were not crisp but that is just a personal preference. The music was nice and the table set up was cute and provided sufficient spacing to feel less crowded. Overall the food was fine but this will not be somewhere we return to frequently. It was an interesting dining experience.

The food was ok. Wasn't busy. I ordered the #5 Italian beef and sausage. The bread was soggy. Beef wasn't hot, just blah. The sausage was burnt and tasted burnt. I use to frequent this location when it first opened years ago and it was great. Today = Not the Portillo's I remember.

First time at Portillo but not my last. Enjoyed the food burger was just right! Probably the crispiest onion rings i've ever had. Decor is pretty awesome super nostalgic. Staff was friendly and checked in a few times to make sure we weren't missing anything else. Simple ordering process as you order at the counter and pick up on the opposite side. Sit your self in first available table which there are plenty of.

Never thought traveling to Florida I would find a Chicago staple!! Had to stop haven't had a Portillos beef is some time! Well it didn't disappoint, just my suggestion get the combination beef and sausage with peppers (I prefer hot) Mozzarella and dipped, it is a mess to eat but it is soooooo good!!! Stop eat and get that Chicago flavor again!

All hail the king of Chilli dogs! So darn good. Not a bad item on the menu. Nothing compares to Portillos. Messy but so yummy. When in Tampa, stop by and grub Chicago style!!!

in the area for 2 days for work purposes, I stopping here tonight for a quick bite to eat. Over all, everything was good especially the beef sandwich. The only set back was the time in which I had to wait for the food, with not a lot of fellow customers in line. But overall everything was good and I would go there again if I'm ever in this area.

9/21/2022 6:22pm. Absolutely love Portillo’s. We each had the Single Bacon Cheeseburger with fries and a drink. This is our second visit and we have many more planned. Thanks Leon. You made our visit at the Brandon, FL restaurant perfect. Oh, we also had a slice of chocolate cake and an eclair. Both were delicious.

Always awesome getting a little taste of Illinois here in Florida. The Hotdogs were tasty. The beef didn't taste the same as it does in Illinois. Nevertheless it was a good treat. Drove 2 hours to visit this place and the shake machine was down. So disappointing. Was looking forward to a cake shake.

Prompt service, friendly, watching the whole food preparation, all Members looked engaged and on point. Loved the New Orlean style music. Clean place. I had the Polish sausage with mustard and sautéed onions. Very good. I’ll be back. Was my first time visit. 4.3 stars

This is a must! Dipped beef (or with a side of adju) with peppers (sweet or hot) and cake shake (standard and seasonal flavors) are a special treat. Must search Fluffy the comedian's bit on cake shakes. The only gripe we've ever had is that the young staff don't seem to be able to read. We've been there many times and have never had the order been complete, correct or consistent. They will fix it if you go back to the counter (difficult on busy days). For example, they dip sandwiches that were ordered dry and vice versa, we've gotten cake shakes with no cake, missing sides, sometimes one pice of sweet pepper and other times the full serving. It's still worth it though.

The Italian beef and Chicago dogs are my favorite! Don’t go home without picking up some Portillo’s Famous Chocolate Cake or the Lemon Cake! Did I mention they serve draft beer?!?

The only Portillos in the whole Tampa Bay area. They need to open a Portillos around the Clearwater peninsula-maybe on Gulf to Bay Boulevard or by the mall off of Rt. 19. Only stopped here because it was on the way from Lakeland, Florida to Clearwater. I had the usual Italian combo sausage and beef, dipped and for extra charge I love to add melted mozzarella cheese and both sweet and hot peppers. Very oily from the hot peppers but that's why it's so good. No other place has ever been able to match the taste and secret spices that go into the sausage. Worth the drive every so often and the Cheeseburger with bacon is my other favorite I get from this chain. Quite possibly the best cheeseburger from a fast food restaurant.

Hands down one of the best Italian beef sandwiches you will ever eat. Employees are friendly, it is clean and some of the best Chicago style food you will eat. My understanding is they import everything from Chicago, even the water, I have not confirmed that, just heard it. Doesn’t matter the food is delicious. When you order your Italian beef you have to get it “dipped”, it’s messy but oh so worth it.

It's an entire experience. From the signs to the vintage car, bike and peddle car, Portillo's isn't just a burger, hotdog and shake joint. Their greek salad was phenomenal. The shakes were delicious and the house hotdog was better than expect despite the odd toppings. The double cheeseburger was okay. Plenty of seating and parking.

Kind of disappointed to be honest. I came in with high expectations and less skepticism than I normally would've. My husband and I got the Charr Broiled Italian Sandwich with sweet peppers. The spices in the sausage were overpowering, and there wasn't nearly enough peppers. I ordered a side of gravy and was sadly disappointed. I expected it to be thick, country style gravy or something similar. Instead, it was soup like and had way too many spices. The best part was the onion rings. The food was okay, but I will never understand the hype around Portillos and it definitely wasn't worth the $26. We basically paid for the name and the atmosphere. Won't be frequenting here.

My son and I had the Italian beef. I guess I'm not an Italian beef guy. I'd rather have a steak and cheese from some place else. My wife had a jumbo hot dog with all of the traditional Chicago toppings. She said the hot dog was okay. To be honest, I was underwhelmed with the experience. We haven't tried the burger or ribs or pasta. Perhaps we'll have a better experience with that?

Love this place. My wife is from Chicago and has introduced me to the beef sandwiches and fries. Every time I am traveling through Tampa I stop here, everything is great and the service is equally as great. Tables are always clean, garbage is taken out, restrooms are clean, very well managed. This place stays busy and it's easy to see why.

CHOCOLATE CAKE. I mean the Italian beef is delicious but the chocolate cake is where it’s AT. Portillo’s does everything right from the beef to the chocolate cake to the shakes! This is a must stop and then you’ll stop all the time after.

I love all the reviews that say the bread was wet or soggy. That’s the point and they style of sandwich. Big beef is awesome. Cheese sauce is awesome. Sausage awesome. Get extra gravy on the side for a good time.

Interesting place. Went for my first time. A little confusing how to order if you are a first timer. Great decor and vibe. Kind of like you are eating at a restaurant in a theme park (in a good way). We had Chicago dogs (good except the pickle was as big as the wiener, lol. More like a pickle dog, they should cut them into slivers. Burger was excellent and so was the beef sandwich. Beer was ice cold. Very good experience. We will be back.

Enjoyed their beef sandwiches. Unfortunately the hot dog was barely warm and the fries were bit salty. But the beef sandwich was 100% delicious and that’s all that really matters! This location service was a little slower and disorganized than what I’m used to compared to the Chicago locations but they were doing their best and would 100% go again if I’m in the area. Portillos… please come the the Pensacola area I beg you!!! I would eat there every day if you did!

This was our first time at Portillo’s, and the cashier, Francisco, was very friendly and understanding. He was knowledgeable about the menu and walked us through the process efficiently! Portillo's had good food and service. I had the chicken tenders with fries. They were average compared to most other places. Their BBQ sauce was unique, but good. My favorite item I had was the chocolate eclair. It was well made and tasted great!

On our way to our vacation to Anna Maria island we decided to visit Portillos. We live in Orlando and ours doesn't open in a few weeks. Several of my friends had high praise of Portillos and looked forward to trying their food. The hype lived up to my expectations. I had the Italian beef and sausage combo with onions rings. My wife had the classic Chicago dog and my kids had the double stack burgers and they were all amazing. Can't wait till the Orlando location opens.. definitely really good food.

I was amazed when I found my favorite Italian beef restaurant in Florida. Just as good as my usual Bloomingdale IL location. I like mine dipped. This is not very far off highway I-75. How lucky Brandon is to have this!

There Italian Beef sandwiches are extremely good. Very tender beef and with loads of flavor whether you get it dipped or not but I would definitely try the sauce. I always get it to the side because of the mess it can make but you can't go wrong either way. The service is pretty fast for it being quite busy.

Super fun place! This is a fun fast casual concept with above average service. Well staffed and spotlessly cleaned. You can see right into the kitchen and watch your food being made. They have nothing to hide. Loved this place.

OMG! OMG! OMG! I didn't want to leave! I'm from Brooklyn and I felt like I was in Coney Island eating one of the best hot dogs of my life! This is not what I expected it went beyond anything I could imagine we had our lunch at about 1:00 p.m. and it's now 3:00 p.m. and I still can't stop talking about it. I had the Polish sausage with the onions and mustard and my husband had the Chicago dog and we shared both they were absolutely perfect. You can't beat the crinkle fries how can you not love crinkle fries they tasted delicious and having the drink with free refills was the icing on the cake. We are going to take my son for his birthday here. Did not disappoint and we are so excited we found this place. Carmen was the best I told her we had never been here this lady was unbelievably hospitable kind and knowledgeable. This Brooklyn girl found her hot dog fix. I'm so happy! All this over a hot dog and Fries would you believe it? 3 cheers for Portillo's!!

Went thru drive thru, and me and the wife have learned from experience with other restaurants to quickly check your order before pulling away. And to our surprise no straws for our drinks, so we turn around to ask for straws and the lady standing outside the window after being asked for straws continued talking to a current customer instead of quickly correcting the problem, we sat long enough for me to get out and slam my car door before she meet me at the front of the establishment to give me my straws which the whole problem could have been fixed if they would have just gave our drinks while we were waiting on the order. But hopefully the problem will be corrected as I have called the manager after I left and suggested that maybe they give drinks to the customers while they sit and wait in the future as most other restaurants too instead of handing everything to him at the same time and saying goodbye. Other than the altercation my wife loves their salad I love their sandwiches I can't say that I was impressed with this salad I got but maybe it was because I was already upset too.

Adventure With the Riveras

This is a repeat for me but I never put it in so I went again today with my friend and show them a great place to eat in the Brandon area and they're making another one I heard or they already probably opened it in Orlando if you like Chicago hot dogs Italian beef Chicago Polish sausage and different salads and other things they have in fries the Chicago style plus inside as you can see with some of my pictures it's like a museum in there all about Chicago and the Chicago fair and when Al Capone and all those times on the 20s and 30s they were there it was really interesting and you can go back in time especially for me I'm born and raised in Chicago and I go back way in the 1959s so to me it's very nostalgia and I have a great time every time I go there great service by the way and I enjoy it very much the food what I normally have there is the Italian beef dipped with fries I can get enough of that Italian beef oh it's so good I'm telling you you got to try it and if you have tried it hey do some comments here please let me know how you like it but if you haven't tried it put it on your bucket list so you can go and see it take a look at all the things they offer and try out the food it's delicious and please let me know what do you think and what your experience was guys have a great day don't forget give us a like put on your comments and reviews we'll see you till the next adventure see where the next adventure will take us.p

Florida Jeep Rides

To say I love hotdogs is an understatement. When my son said there is a place with hotdogs down the street I was ready. They have 3 types on the main menu. I had all three. The chili cheese dog was smothered in a generous portion of a hearty and good tasting chili. The dog was fresh and had a good snap to the bite. Next... the Chicago Dog. It was authentic with a fresh pickle and peppers. But I saved the best for last. Maxwell sweet polish. 110% perfect. I had to resist going for another. How do I rate my stars? Taste = one star Ambiance = one star Price = one star Service = one star Feeling satisfied = one star Hence what I review as five hotdogs up! Would I return and recommend? Absolutely. The burger tasted like it wasn't seasoned. And they ran out of ketchup and was not able to provide any for the burger or fries. I'll try them again but I was a little disappointed. Service from the staff was great though.

The atmosphere of this place is definitely it's main attraction for me, it is above average fast food, easily better than McDonald's or BK, but nothing crazy, parking is plentiful and easy to access from the main road, would recommend for cheap and fast eats.

We missed this Chicago eatery on our trip to the Windy City but took the opportunity to try it out when we saw it in newly opened in Brandon. So much more than a hot dog place, this casual fast service restaurant did not disappoint. The Beef Sandwiches were excellent and very affordable. I could see how this would be great for families or any large party. We look forward to another trip back.

Always delicious italian beef sandwiches. The French fries were lukewarm and a skimpy amount in the box. The large milkshake truly is quite large. We really enjoy a meal from here. The music was a bit hokey, but the decor was interesting. Plenty of staff.

Updated:. In case you want a healthier choice here, try the portabello sandwich with a baked potato and coleslaw. Big fan of this place. Food tastes great. Cool Chicago decor and vibe. The people who work here have a little fun, which is nice to see in a restaurant.

Wonderful Beefs and Hot Dogs. Simply the best outside of Chicago. (And really good if you're in Chicago as well). Being in Florida - Portillo's is the place to go for fantastic Chicago food. The only place in Florida to get a decent Chicago Beef Sandwich and a real Chicago Dog! I can only visit Portillos when I stop by the fairgrounds. Please, we need a Portillos in the Clearwater area! I came back to P in March for another Beef Sandwich and noticed a big difference in the size of the sandwich and how skimpy you are now with the beef!!! Not good! I used to need 2 hands to eat the sandwich and now, I used only four fingers! I know times have been hard but don't start cheating people by given them a less quantity and quality!!! Sorry, I dropped you from a 5 star to a 3. Here's a 2020 beef sandwich vs a 2021 sandwich pic. Bummer!

Amazing taste of Chicago. Ingredients trucked down to Tampa from up north to make the experience absolutely authentic. No compromises. Order an Italian beef dipped with Giardiniera. Heaven.

I loved the decor. It had a Fuddruckers feel to it where the decorations were concerned. It was clean and you could seat yourself inside or out. The portions were generous and tasted great. I also recommend the strawberry lemon cake milkshake 😋. The whole menu is good.

Had the beef and cheese croissant with fries and a sweet tea. Not to mention the highlight of the meal: the chocolate cake shake. Incredible! The feel inside was like every Chicago restaurant I’ve ever been to but on a different level, the decor was amazing and it really did feel like I had stumbled into the Windy City! 10/10 would reccomend.

Being from Illinois, this little gem made me feel back at home. The chocolate cake shake is to die for! It's so decadent. The hot dog is also AMAZING. I miss Chicago style hot dogs! I usually get the beef sandwich, bit this time I got the beef and sausage. It did not disappoint. Can't wait to go back!

I am now addicted to Portillo’s! The Maxwell Polish Sausage is my absolute favorite. The onion rings are deliciously crunchy and a must have! The lemon cake was divine too.

Good salad that comes with really good bread!! Hot dog was delicious and eclair cake was good. I love the atmosphere the room makes you feel like your are back in the early 1900s with the looks and music playing. Only complaint was that dining in did not come with silverware, the only option was plastic ware wrapped inside clear plastic individually.

I was lucky enough to live in Chicagoland for quite a few years. This took me back there instantly. The place is just too good. I get my beef dipped with both hot and sweet peppers. I get a side of gravy for the fries. This is totally a cheat day spot. If you're going to eat here, just go for it. I don't eat fried food as a choice but this place is the exception for fries. If you get it dipped, keep it in the wrapper as you eat it or you'll just watch it fall apart. It'll be messy no matter what. They have veggie options available so don't sweat it if there's less omnivore members in your group. This isn't gourmet stuff, but it is good. Great after a night of drinking. Great if you just want to have a simple meal with lots of bold flavors. They've got a couple of taps there if you want a beer. There may be TV's but I didn't notice. Seating is spacious but open so it can get loud. Overall it is exactly what I expected and loved it.

Sorry to say this trip to Portillo's was not up to par. Sausage on combo way overcooked - dry and tough. Ordered sandwich dipped but only a little bit of one corner was and I was charged 70 cents extra. Chicago beef sandwiches are always dipped! Fries were not cooked enough at all. Disappointed this trip.

Portillos was pretty decent. The restaurant was clean and the staff was nice. I ordered 2 chili dogs and fries. I could easily duplicate what I ordered for a fraction of the cost.

10/10 I would definitely recommend. Management seems to have a grip on this location as everything runs seamlessly for a customer. They have staff that are friendly and helpful. There is even a staff member on standby to clean the table once you are finished. I've been to the original location in Illinois and you wouldn't even know the difference here.

I went to portillo's yesterday and to my suprise, it was their birthday. Or yesterday was portillo's birthday celebration and they had a super deal that i couldnt believe. This location has the exact layout as the portillo's in chicago, the feel is genuine and the energy and food calls are all the same love and experience. I ordered 3 Italian beefs wet with sweet and hot peppers. I also ordered a strawberry milkshake. With my suprise, at the end of my order the team member asked me if i would like 3 pieces of chocolate cake for .56 cents a slice. I have to think, and i repeated "3 slices of chocolate cake for 56 cents an slice", then i said kn a polite manner, "yes i would like 3 slices of chocolate cake for .56 cents a slice". So my orders here fairly come out fairly quickly and i must say the 3 stack of chocolate cake was a great promotion and offer. I ate 2 Italian beefs, gulped down my shake and ate 1 slice for the best meal in a while. Thanks portillo's and the birthday celebration offer on the cake.

I have been to the Portillo's up north in Chicago and this location fits the mold. It amazes me how much this food matches the quality compared to the ones up north. Best of all, the prices here are cheaper than the ones up north due to cost of living differences. Definitely a place to check out if you want to try a taste of Chicago if you've never been!

Exterior looked interesting so I stopped in to try it. Inerior is nice enough and clean though a bit clumsy. Tables were too close together and music is a bit loud. Very focused on the festive nastalgia atmosphere. Counter service w I think two counters for different purposes. A bit confusing. My hot dog with fries were good and reasonably priced. Probably one of the best Chicago Hot Dogs in Florida, period! The crunch of their hotdogs with that poppy seed bun. Its interior is so much fun with the lively design, filled with props and lots of figures. Its usually filled up from what I assume because when I went on a Sunday afternoon, it was filled! But the great thing about them, is that they only took 10-15 minutes to serve our food. Check it out the next time you are near Tampa!

Chili cheese dog was delicious! The malts were so good, as well as their chocolate cake. Even my 3yr old ate the hotdog, which is surprising considering he usually only eats the buns. Lol. He even gave the food his seal of approval (a thumbs up 👍) which he does for all foods he loves. Wasn’t too spendy and the portions were rather large. Will definitely be back!

I was so happy when I heard they were coming to Florida and this is the closest location to me but the Tampa one is not too much further. You can get some Chicago style food like this around Florida but here they do everything right. From the Chicago Style Vienna Beef hot dogs to the Italian beef sandwiches to the fries you just can't go wrong. Poppy seed buns, hot Giardiniera and the best chocolate cake around. It is always busy here but the service is fast and friendly. If you live in the area or are just visiting and want a taste of home this is the best bet until you want pizza and then you have more choices.

I was craving a hot dog and the roast sandwich. Our girls had tender and French fries and they were delicious. The hot dog had relish, spicy pepper, mustard and pickle. It was perfect. We did order the beef and sausage sandwich dipped and we didn't like it since the bread was all soaked. We will come back but no more dipped sandwich just dry this time. It was good. I tried the chocolate shake and it was wonderful. Everyone was friendly and everyone was busy when we went after church. It was well worth it. Can't wait to try other items on the menu.

Portillo's is the closest thing to a Chicago hot dog available in Florida it is very good but part of the ambience is that the staff must know the product and how to pronounce it properly to a lot of Floridians it's just an expensive hot dog with salad on it and they just don't get it but to anyone who's ever lived or traveled through Chicago and hide a hot dog it's pretty damn good

First time I'd been here. A little confusing as one staff member told me to have a seat and I'd be waited on. Nope. You order at the window. The cashier who took my order was brand new and confused about my order of tea rather than soda, but nice. I ordered a hamburger all the way with fries. The burger was good, nothing special though. Granted, it was the first time in 7 months I'd had red meat. But the fries were excellent! Just toasty and crispy and soft-centered enough to rate perfection for fries lovers everywhere. The truck hoisted above the eating area was beautiful. The rest of the antique collectibles were intriguing, too. Not what I would expect in a fast food place. There were posters on every table encouraging applications for employment - and the employees behind the counter seemed very jovial among themselves. I doubt I'll go back, but ONLY because I'm much more vegetarian than red meat consumer. I actually stopped there by mistake because I thought it was a Mexican restaurant. LOVED the piped jazz!

The food was good and the strawberry smoothie was awesome. Only issue I had was I wanted to order an Italian sausage and the cashier said they didn't have any when I could clearly see some cooking on the grill, I guess she was just confused because a man who looked to be a manager said that some would be ready in about 7 minutes. But the cashier made it seem like there were none at all. I got my sausage with peppers and mozzarella cheese. It was good and the onion rings were good. Oh also my husband wanted hot sauce to put on his big beef and was told there was none..

This store really has it together all around! The employees seemed happy & motivated, very hospitable from the moment we walked in, food was ready quickly, very clean, and our food and milkshakes were so yummy as always. Extra impressive especially for fast casual with all those delivery/take out orders AND in times like this where restaurants are running so short on employees and product. I can tell from my experience, whoever runs this establishment really goes above in beyond not just for the customers, but for the employees. Such a breath of fresh air!

First off, if you haven't eaten here please do, portillos is not only a restaurant but a staple from Illinois, a heavy hitter if you will. I grew up on food from up north, Rico bennes, portillos, REAL CHINESE FOOD, UNOS, GIORDONOS etc The food in Florida has always sucked down here, touristy if you will. Not impressed at all! First time here. I will give 5 stars to the young lady who took our order. Had a craving for a hot dog. Requested a regular hot dog with relish, cooked onions, mustard & ketchup. I was so confused when I saw that black stuff and it turned out to be the cooked onions. Bright green relish didn't taste like relish. I ended up taking everything off and just eating the HD plain. My BF had double cheeseburger, he said it was ok. I ordered a jumbo hot dog combo and I was expecting a really big hot dog and it was regular size but according to them the sausage bag very thick compared to a regular sausage so the order was right but the ingredients were not much at all. The order process was anything but smooth. I accept the fact that I may not have articulated my order in a way that was understood by the staff. The menu is not necessarily created with the idea of making changes in order to please the customer, but I made no outlandish request. The food was of very good quality, flavorful, and well cooked. It was a bit expensive for what we received, but I do not complain about that either. I'm not sure that we will return, but I do believe that the food is enjoyable. There was a lot of other people there that must agree!

Happy to have this place in Florida. We moved out of Chicago out East and visit family in Florida annually and have made this a must stop every since they opened. Its about as close to the Chicago Portillos experience as you can get. The chop salad was awesome and beef and cheddar just as delicious.

I grew up and lived in Chicago for 23 years. I would eat Portillo's multiple times a week. This Portillo's tastes the same as the ones in Chicago. The Chicago style Italian beef is a must get. Each restsurant is decorated differently and this one does not disappoint. The staff is friendly and we saw them cleaning the tables after guests left. If you miss the amazing cuisine from Chicago or if you have never tried a Chicago beef I highly recommend you try this Portillos.

I've gotten the Chicago Dog a few times and it was excellent. Tonight, I got the Big Beef and it was nothing like the photos on the menu. Just beef on bread. No peppers or anything to add much flavor. I'll stay with the hot dogs. Staff always excellent, pleasant and service pretty fast. UPDATE: I’ve spoken to many people who advised I ask for the beef sandwich “wet” which includes gravy. I guess the employee didn’t offer or explain the 1st time. Returned 2 more times, got the beef “wet”. MUCH better. The Chicago Dog is still my favorite. Service always excellent.

Best Chicago dogs ever. Fast food includes Italian Beef which I also reccomend. They boil the dogs slowly as opposed to flash cooking and they use all beef. The poppyseed bun sets it off. And if you go online they will deliver a 10 dog "kit" for a home party.

For special diet folks, there is not much to offer here in that regard, sadly. There are no gluten free bread options but they do package everything nicely for you if you go without the bread. Having a Midwest spot in Florida makes me want to visit Chicago more.

The Chicago bowl is a GREAT addition to the menu!!! However our cashier made a mistake of pretty much our entire order. We ordered 3 Chicago bowls 1 with no cheese (1 without cheese was the one of the few things he got correct). He never asked us if we wanted sweet or hot peppers or gravy. Based on the photo and the fact that he didn't ask, we thought they came with both types of peppers. We also ordered 2 chili dogs 1 with chili cheese and onions the other with just chili and onions. The latter had a slice of American cheese and onions (no chili). We also had 2 diet cokes and a water. We got 1 diet and a water. Oh and the large fry we ordered ....we got a small. The food was fabulous as always but not really what we ordered at all.

In my opinion, not not much beats a real Chicago hotdog! Everything I’ve had from this place is really good. Definitely feels no different from any of the originals in Illinois. The desserts are also out of this world and the cake milkshake is unlike anything I’ve ever tried. We usually do curbside take out… and today we had an issue where an item was wrong. Credit to the management, when I got back in the store The manager was genuinely apologetic and really made it up to me (the return trip to get the right item). I’ll definitely keep visiting this place and would highly recommend

This a taste of sweet home Chicago. If you haven't been here before, come hungry. You have to try a real Chicago dog at least once in your life, right? These guys do it right. After you've had that, you must try an Italian beef sandwich. I like mine slightly wet, with AuJus on the side, but they'll make it any way you want it! For dessert you really have 2 awesome choices. Either their homemade chocolate cake, or they're chocolate cake shake. I prefer the latter, but it's almost like a meal in itself. You would be crazy not to go here!

The first time I went here wasn't too bad. The second time was a bit more awkward. I'm just not fond of restaurants that have a sign away from the order. Yes, I understand that you should just be able to remember what you wanted but sometimes you may wanna change your mind in the heat of the order. I suppose I could pull up the menu on my phone, but when you're driving that's illegal (unless you're at a complete stop). However, the food was pretty good and I actually had about a 25 minute and after that I took a shower and the fries were still relatively good. It's not too bad of a place I figure, but it's not something that I crave constantly. The wait isn't usually that long, so that's a plus. I figure that if you want a hot dog this would be a place to go.

Portillo’s has some of the yummiest hot dogs I have ever eaten and their hamburgers are very good, too. I’m giving them 5 star for the food but if I was reviewing the wait time they would get 2 or 3 stars. People I know from Chicago brag how fast this place is up north. Here in Florida, not so much. I only come here when I know I have some time to kill because I know from past experience I’m going to be waiting at least 15 minutes for a simple 2 hot dog, drink and fries, or hamburger, drink and fries order. It’s the tail end of the lunch rush hour, 1:46 p.m. and 15 minutes since I gave my order. They should hand out free beer so the wait wouldn’t seem so long.

It's good food and the decor is interesting! We went through the drive through and it was interesting. They put a number on my windshield but didn't take it off. The little piece of paper is still there. They have a good veggie sandwich which was good my daughter said. Mango smoothie was way too sweet, I had to throw it away. Chocolate cake was good. We drove five hours out of our way to have a taste of Home while in Florida. In the 15 years of eating Portillo's I've never had a bad meal. The service is fast, prices excellent, lovely outside porch to eat on, and a well-run establishment. The only trifling complaint is that it's difficult to get into the parking lot because of bumper to bumper traffic on the main and side road.

First time here today. Met my expectations for the quintessential Chicago Hot Dog. Authentic Vienna Beef hot dogs that gives you that 'snap' on the first bite. Short peppers, poppy seed bun, tomato, and the other ingredients that make it authentic. Clean restaurant, and staff I interacted with had a great attitude. Management stopped by the table to ask if all was OK with our meal. Looking forward to next trip to try Chicago Beef.

Take a trip to Chicago without getting on a plane, Portillos gives you the taste of a real Chicago dog without ever having to go to the city. The milkshakes are amazing especially the cake shakes where they use their famous chocolate cake in the shake. Everything that I've tried on the menu has been delicious. Fun atmosphere inside it almost feels like being at a fair or carnival.

I have wanted to try this place ever since it opened and I finally had the opportunity to do so. It more than met my expectations. I loved everything about it! They had a great big menu. They are famous for their hot dogs and their Italian beef although they also offer chicken. ribs salads. soups and pasta I ordered their char-grilled burger which was fantastic and fries which were great as well! And let me tell you I am very particular about my burgers and fries. There are very few places that I will order those from! Other menu items include desserts and shakes. The service was very fast regardless of how busy they we're due to the fact that they have multiple ovens and many staff members. There were about 5 people in line ahead of me and I had ordered and received my meal in not much more than 5 minutes. I love the ambiance and the decor made me feel like I stepped back in time to Old Chicago. There was plenty of seating and there was also an outside patio for dining which was large. There is a large lot for parking and they also offer drive-thru service . I plan to be a regular patron now.

On vacation in Florida this week. Just came over from Orlando. When we entered here, we felt we were still at one of the amusement parks that was trying to recreate a time era restaurant. The food was mostly good. Our sons really wanted the milkshake with cake. They really liked them. My wife and I got the #2 hot dog combo. They were alright. The hot dog itself was nothing special but the toppings and bun were good. I prefer burned grilled dogs, but to each their own. It was their tea that was pretty bad. Either over- brewed or old, it was fairly nasty. I was also a little disoriented on the food pickup. The shakes were done first, then a second visit for most of the food, and a third visit to pick up a salad in a completely different location.

I went here for lunch on a Tuesday. It was not crowded, but I did have to stand in line to order. I had the Italian beef sandwich, dipped. I did not realize that it meant that they dipped the whole sandwich! I guess that meant you have to eat it with a fork! But it was delicious, & the onion rings were good, too. I did several deliveries for this place so I thought the food must be good. Got myself 4 Beef Hotdogs with everything on it. They tasted awesome, but the hotdog itself tasted so good that a basic hotdog with ketchup, mustard and relish would have tasted just as good. Not to say the ingredients were bad; the ingredients were actually pretty fresh. The fries? Perfectly seasoned!!! I want fries with salt! I never understood how people would want to order fries unsalted... I'm not ordering unhealthy food and expecting it to be healthy!! =) I want to try their Chilli Cheese Dogs next because that cheese tasted real and satisfying. If it's not real, well kudos to you. You bamboozled me and my pending constipation. My only feedback would be something I noticed while making deliveries. I would suggest separating the cold salads from any hot food to stop the food from getting cold during the delivery process. Although most people might expect their food to not be piping hot as if they're eating their food right after picking it up from the counter.

The dog was amazing as can be expected. The Eclair cake was a bit of a let down...I guess I expected something better and it just missed the mark entirely. Great service amd very prompt. Also heard a manager speaking with her staff and she treated them with respect and actual care. Wish I knew her name because that is the way you treat people!

Awesome Italian beef & peppers, hot dogs, chocolate cake, awesome crinkle fries & the restaurant itself is very unique. Nothing like that here from Florida. You must try, you will love it. Kid friendly, comfortable covered outdoor seating. Before they opened in Florida my Dad would order it & have it overnighted every Superbowl. It came in a cooler, dry iced & you cooked it & it was great. Not quite the same without the atmosphere though!

The hotdogs here are pretty good. Lots of delicious toppings - tomato, pickles, mustard, peppers. The strawberry milkshake was really good as well. The parking lot was packed and the drive-thru line was long on a weekday during lunchtime. I would say it was a bit overpriced.

James, the crew chief was unbelievable. We had a couple slight issues but James rectified them and then some. The food is always ridiculously good and never a complaint there. Service is fast and friendly. The only other complaint would be that there should be a more coherent way for phone ordering. To not allow a phone order an hour and a half before closing is mind boggling. All in all you can't get this food anywhere that I know of anywhere but the Midwest. Highly recommended.

I have been to Portillo's a few times now, the Italian Beef is delicious and I highly recommend it. The chocolate cake is dry and not worth the hype. I also finally tried the Chocolate Cake shake which I was looking forward to, but I was highly disappointed. It tastes like a gritty shake and wasn't sweet at all. Never in my life did I ever think I would not be a fan of cake or a shake or even the 2 combined but it looks like Portillo's has struck out here in my book. Update: the Eclair is hands down the most AMAZING item on the menu!!!

The food is very good. But how you have to wait in a line just to get your food once you have already placed in your order is a bit awkward because you have a whole bunch of people who are just standing around and staring at each other. It is a little bit over price and the chocolate milkshake can improve as sometimes I feel like there’s too much chocolate cake as if I am drinking a liquid chocolate cake and not so much a milkshake. Highly recommend and getting the sausage dog with peppers the celery salt pickles and mustard with onions

I got an Italian beef and it was great, also got a dog and it was not so great. The beef was spot on Chicago style fare, the hotdog was like it was made by someone that saw a picture of one but had never tasted a Chicago dog. It was a bland casing dog, not garlicy like a Vienna or Hebrew, virtually no celery salt, and the bun was hardly steamed if at all. These are classic failures some clueless national chain would make. I expected better than that from Portillos.

It's OK. They try but it's nothing like Chicago. Growing up in Chicago, you're used to a certain standard when it comes to Italian beef sandwiches. When we say we want our sandwich dipped, that means the bread has to be dipped by itself, then dipped again while loaded. Your suppose to stand away from the sandwich to eat it cause it's wet. This place doesn't do that.

First time at Portillo's. Not sure I'll go back. I ordered a Caesar salad which, on the website, said is a chicken Caesar. I got to the restaurant and find they only have plain Caesar salads. Kind of disorganized pick-up as well; stand in one line to get the burgers and fries, then go to the other side of the restaurant to get my salad. My son enjoyed the chocolate cake milkshake, though.

I love tomatoes and peppers ! But wasn't a big fan of them on hotdogs! But I wanted to try the Chicago style just for the heck of it! The hotdogs were pretty good, however I really love mustard, relish and onions but there was not enough of either one of them to notice any one of them on the hotdogs! Fast! Friendly service! I will go back(Lord willing) but I will order my hotdogs without tomatoes, without peppers, lots of mustard, lots of relish and lots of onions! Oh' also thought the tote trays were pretty cool with the cup holders made into the tray so you don't drop your drink!

Never been to Chicago or had the famed Italian beef, so I think this is a fair assessment of our visit... Drive-thru is waaay awkward, but for $17+ we got the jumbo Italian beef, jumbo hot dog with all the trimmings, and a fry. My son demolished the hot dog, so no taste for me. I had the beef sandwich and it was just okay to me. To be fair, I got both peppers on the side and they barely gave me enough for half the sandwich...didn't find that their addition made it much better. I'll probably go back for a hot dog, but at $7 it's gonna be a planned purchase in the future!

Food was delicious. I had the Chicago beef and sausage combo sandwich with sweet and hot peppers and it was outstanding. First time I have been there but definitely won't be the last. Nice large dining room, fun music great place to take the family or a large group. A friend had the pasta with marinara sauce and said it was excellent.

The atmosphere of Portillo's greets you as you walk in the door. We got in line at noon time...ordered our food and we were eating lunch in less than 15 minutes. The hot dogs are very good and so were the onion rings. Didn't have room for dessert, but they looked tempting. I am sure we'll be back!

I have had the pleasure of visiting this location multiple times and this is one of the few places that routinely over delivers. It may take a little longer to get your food in the drive thru but only by a little (and this is without accounting for the shorter line that typically results in a shorter total time waiting) the food will be far better and your order will be accurate.

Italian Beef was terrific Hot dog bun was soggy and crushed from how tight they wrapped with paper!! Being from Chicago I know how they are made up there!! Get on them wrappers!!!! Otherwise great food!!! Drove 100 miles to get a taste of Chicago again!

Love authentic Chicago food. Although - they are not doing tamales at this time - which saddens us. But the Italian Beef - is pure Chicago and it's a taste of home for us. Hot dog - yummy!

Every location gives the same experience. Food is consistent and always good. I am finally starting to try other items beside the Maxwell St. Polish, Italian beef or Chicago dog. The spaghetti is very good, ribs are awesome and the char-burger and char- chicken sandwich were excellent. Love the strawberry shortcake as well as the rich chocolate cake. We need a Portillo's in St. Pete!

I have to say that I was kind of disappointed with the food. I love the nostalgia inside though. I ordered a big beef, which is their Italian beef sandwich just bigger with extra gravy. The beef itself was actually rather dry and bland but wasn’t bad. The hot and sweet peppers were delicious. It was just not what I was expecting. Plus the wait for the food was pretty long and it wasn’t even very busy. I’ll give it a try again though but next time its gonna be the hot dogs and burgers.

I can't think of another place that had truly mastered the art of the Chicago beef sandwich other than Portillo's! I occasionally make it to this side of Florida for work, and I ALWAYS plan a trip here. I always get the sandwich dipped, and I usually get the hot peppers. I will say that sometimes those hot peppers are surprisingly hot, so choose cautiously. The hot dogs are great, the shakes are great, and service is friendly and quick. If you're reading this, trust me, just go. It's excellent!

I would rate it 4.4 . Prices are reasonable. French fries were on point. I had the sausage sandwich. I felt they could of added more peppers. My sandwich had three slices of pepper so My boyfriend had the dipped Italian sandwich . He said it was good . My daughter had the hot dog . She didn’t eat the bun bc it had seeds on it. Maybe if they had seedless buns as a choice would be more helpful. Ambience was neat. We would try it a second time.

Really good fast food. The burgers have a nice char flavor. The fries are crinkle-cut and substantial, but not overly flavorful. Be sure to check out the chocolate cake and or the strawberry shortcake!

Only one comment, I was expecting a wonderful, tasty hot dog with all the trimmings. The trimmings were fairly good but the hot dog not so much. The skin of the hot dog was so tough and I ended up with a wad of hot dog skin in my mouth ....after I chewed the bite of hot dog for at least 40 seconds......thus I didn't eat much of the hot dog!!

Great decor and music but confusing place to order if you've never been before. Our particular cashier was a bit impatient and did not explain simple options such as what kinds of fries they had, where to pick up condiments, etc... The hamburger I ordered was a frozen patty, reheated and put on a bun. From first bite it was an average tasting burger but the patties are HUGE. Cool atmosphere but average food. If you're starving, eat here but if you can wait a few miles and want a burger, check out someplace other than Portillo's. 👍

Chicago favorite in a different state. This was great to see as a dining option while in Sarasota. The drive was well worth it. Italian beef and cheese on a croissant.... Heaven..... Chicago style dog is another favorite. Great food

First time there and OMG what a awesome place. The food was amazing fresh hot OMG Great. The staff was totally amazing even wearing masks you could tell they were smiling. Drove 45 mins to eat and try it out. Trust you me we will be back very soon. Thank you maybe bring that Greatness down to Sarasota Florida.

We are from the Chicago area and we're ecstatic when Portillo's came to Brandon. We drove all the way from Redington Shores to go there and get our fixed for the greatest Italian beef in Chicago dogs the chocolate cake shake and the chopped salad. However they have changed the chopped salad recipe, which now includes a lot of iceberg lettuce . it is not as good as it used to be but the trip was still worth it

Socially distanced and tastes as delish as the Portillo's in Chicago. Fast and friendly service. Clean bathrooms. I couldn't decide between my faves, so got the Chicago dog for there and the Italian beef to go. If you haven't been, you must go! I literally ate so fast, there is no picture.

My husband is from Chicago and goes through withdrawals if he doesn't get a hot dog and Italian beef. This is his go to place. He's sensitive to MSG and the last time he got a migraine after eating the beef, they may have changed the recipe. IDK
