Best of the best spot for some middle eastern food. Their starters are off the the chart. While you're order is getting ready they serve free bread and free spices mixed with red chilli sauce and oil which tastes amazing. They accommodate birthday parties or any celebration and the prices are very reasonable.

Halal and yummy food. They serve Mediterranean food. I like the fact that the food quality is kid of consistence. Also, they have a wide selection of food such as Mansaf (glad they serve it daily now), Mandi, Mahashi, Shawarma (checking and beef), Falafel… etc. Surely, I recommend this place.

Another fine restaurant and dining experience! My wife had the Petra Mix with babaganoush and the hummus, I had the Turkish kabob with the babaganoush and small salad. Delicious. All of the flavors complemented each other smoothly while also pronouncing themselves when eaten individually. The service was fast, friendly and polite. Looking forward to eating again!

First time going here and it did not disappoint. Delicious Mediterranean food with great prices. We had the Hummus, Beef Shawarma Sandwich and Chicken Shawarma Sandwich. Everything was delicious. The Hummus came with Pita Bread and a side of spices with olive oil and pickled veggies SO GOOD!! The Beef Shawarma was also amazing. The restaurant looked clean and the service was great as well. I will definitely be back to try more Mediterranean dishes.

If you're looking to try something different this restaurant is so good, I love Turkish and Arabic food specifically kibes which in Dominican Republic we call Quipe..I teach my kids to try and learn about food from different places, how they taste and how wide flavors and food choices can be ..we got falafel for my daughter and she love them because she doesn't like a lot of meat.. We got kibes, cucumbers 🥒 and 🍅 salad, beef kabad, mansaf (love the rice it tasted like it was cooked with rose water and have yellow raisins which give a salty and sweet flavor combination🥰) , pita bread was hot and delicious and a chicken sandwich.. We visited on a week day so not to many people.. place was clean and service was great..it looks like a mom and pop restaurant (family own) there is like three or two more locations in Tampa.. but we visited the one in Bush

We came to Petra bcz we heard about their incredible mansaf. We were not disappointed...it was truly amazing... just like we had in Jordan! Chef Yousef and his staff were most welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend the mansaf at Petra near Busch Gardens (not avlb at downtown restaurant). The lamb is so flavorful and prepared perfectly with the yogurt gravy...even the bone marrow was wonderful. Enjoy!

I’ve tried a number of Middle Eastern restaurants in the area and they’ve all been more or less good. I tried Petra’s Chicken Shawarma and it was very tasty. Chicken, pickles, that garlic sauce, what’s not to like! The place is clean, service was good and the waitress friendly. I need to come back at night and try one of their main dishes.

02/27/22 Service was great (Male server) Food was incredible! We had a daily special and kufta kebab. Review a year ago: Food is good but service is very terrible. We come here very often (+10 times) after Jummah but today was the worst one (1pm on 03/19). The lady with the glasses never brought the bread that comes with the daily special DESPITE of several times of request.

Definitely my favorite restaurant in Tampa! The hummus is beyond anything I've ever had, and the chicken schawarma plate is the BEST! It's a lot of food for a good price. It doesn't look like much from the outside, and the times we have been there hasn't been busy, but that just means better and faster service for us. The other patrons appear to be Middle Eastern based on their apparel, and when natives are going there, you know it's good stuff. Just a reminder not to judge based on appearance, location, or how busy it looks. I rave about Petra's every chance I get, and I try to take all my visitors here!

I enjoyed my Petra meal but I will not confuse it with the real thing (middle eastern food IN the middle east). Petra strives to fill your stomach cheaply with big plates of middle eastern style food supplemented and boosted by lots of cheap carbs of pita bread, rice and fries, with an eye on saving anywhere it can and I mean anywhere. This is not a culinary experience but the traditional dishes are seasoned nicely and the bill was so low I wondered if they made a mistake. If you miss the food you'll be satisfied and if you are not familiar with the food it will give you a fair introduction, go hungry.

It was my first time there. I dont know their language so didn't know what to order. The server got offended because we asked her to speak English. She did not bring any water or bread to our table. Didn't even ask us if we wanted anything to drink. She just brought our food and disappeared until she came back and put the check on the table, didn't say one word to us, just smiled and walked away. She spoke very clear English so I'm not sure why she got offended. I was so disappointed. I traveled all the way from Saint Pete to have dinner there because I had heard so much about this place. I really wanted to try their meat dishes but the waitress was having a bad day which crushed my experience, bummer... We left and went somewhere else for desserts and coffee.

first time here food was amazing service a lil slow on checking on your needs after food gets to your table.. you wait a long time to get your check. once you get your check then you wait a long time to cash out as they talk about their day and look at you 12 times before you wave them down to pay.

This is the best arabic place !!! We went there on sunday and ordered the family barbecue it was amazing! The meat cubes was very tough though but over all it was amazing. The hummus is perfect and the baba gannoush was delicious. I would definitely go back again. The girl was so nice and welcoming

Our family has been coming here infrequently since 2012 and we like it. It's clean and service is good. One of the ladies who works here is extremely nice. Didn't see her on my most recent visit though. Food is quite tasty as well and prices are alright. The restrooms could be better maintained, however.

Great place to have a group lunch. Cost was mid - about $100 for 5 people with appetizer, drinks, salad, etc.... We got there 3 pm Sunday and the service was fast. We shared the Grill Boat which comes with hummus, chicken, beef, lamb.... all good but a bit dry. Sauces are excellent and salads great. We also got the falafel appetizer. Best falafel I've had in a while...

I've ordered to go good before but this was my first time dinning in. The service was good but the food was a little disappointing. The garlic sauce tasted a little different, I didn't mind but my husband doesnt like mayo and he couldn't eat it cause he said it tasted like it had mayo in it. The rice was pale I guess they tan out of saffron...and the meat wasn't tender for the shish kebab.

I usually eat at the Greenlanda restaurant on 56th Street but this morning they were late to open so I went here to Petra for the first time. I liked the Petra much better with better food, better quantity and better price and way better service. The meat is so tasty, everything was perfect. Delicious- we shared the Mansaf. It’s a large plate of rice with a lamb shank that’s been simmered in a yogurt sauce. We also had the vegetarian mixed appetizer of egg plant, hummus, grape leaves and falafel. Falafels were good- it was all good. The waitress was very nice from Morocco.

Whenever we have a hankering for hummus and kebob, this is the restaurant we visit. My kids love the restaurant as much! Spacious, clean, family friendly, smiling staff, and quick service. But nothing beats the food they serve. We usually order Family Boat option which includes hummus, baba ghanouj, tomato and cucumber salad, a basketfull of pita bread, and a HUGE dish full of yellow rice covered with all kinds of kebob, grilled chicken, and marinated beef. Go there hungry!

Great food. We ordered the classic falafel platter. And a hummus wrap? Both costed us around $12. Which is like really cheap. The falafel patties were delicious and crunchy. They sell baklavas too which is damn hard to find in florida. Classic Turkish food is a go here ❤️

The Greek salad with Shish Kebah (lamb) was delicious and very well seasoned. The Greek salad didn't have much lettuce in it, however I didn't mind that I liked the chunkiest of the vegetables. It was a little run down as far as atomesphere goes but that didn't really bother me. Service was a little slow but they were attentive and keep me informed of when my food would be out. All in all I would say it was a good experience.

The food here speaks volumes to the quality and authenticity of each dish. If you want the best chicken shawarma sandwich in Tampa, then come here! It might not look fancy inside and it seems simple, but the food makes this place shine. The chicken kebabs, hummus, garlic sauce…a meal which makes you truly content. It can be busy here but all the servers are hardworking and do their best! Everything was cooked to perfection.

Wow. Authentic delicious food, great prices, friendly staff. If you like middle eastern food this is the place to go. One thing to note is that the music played here is also authentic, so some people may find it different than what they are used to it. Personally I love everything about this place.

I’m Palestinian, this food was prepared like a restaurant that has the consumer in mind. The Turkish kebab was spicy enough to not need sauce. The hummus was not the best that I have had, but better than most restaurants that serve it I give it 4/5. The salad was on point just had to add salt which is perfect, since not everyone needs the extra sodium in their diet. And the service was the best, smiles as I wish all the restaurant workers to have smiles! For a quick stop off the highway, I give it 5 stars for quality, service, and authenticity.

My family and I were visiting Tampa and went there for dinner. It truly exceeded our expectations. The food was exceptional and the service was wonderful. The entire staff and owner was amazing, helpful and friendly. We tried a variety of different dishes and all were delicious. Their coffee was very good. We've visited nearly every Greek or Mediterranean restaurant in our area. Always looking for something new. Although 15 miles away, we thought we would give Petra Restaurant a try. We arrived at 7:00 PM on a Sunday night and the place was packed. One table had 20 people and another had about 12. There were multiple booths with people in them too. We were quickly greeted and seated. The serving staff appeared a bit overwhelmed by the number of customers. While it took a while, the server came over and took our order. The food was fantastic! My wife and I shared a Greek Salad. She had the Chicken Kabobs and I had the Chicken Shawarma. Make sure you are hungry as the portions are rather large. You definitely get your monies worth. The Hummus and Basmati rice were delicious! Would highly recommend Petra Restaurant to my family and friends. Good Stuff!

Not good anymore as they use to be House salad I ordered came with Italian dressing on it with no disclaimer Since when do you put Italian dressing on a ARABIC/MIDDLE EASTERN/MEDITERRANEAN chopped cucumber and tomato salad (house salad) 🥴 Lentil soup tasted as if I was drinking a hot bowl of curry powder soup with out lentils in it **UPDATE 6/21/21 - came back and ordered another lentil soup with mansaf special. The food here is absolutely delicious. The chicken is very tender and the sauces are full of savory goodness (I highly recommend the chicken shawarma). However, what is consistently lacking in all my times I've visited this establishment is the service. Placing a simple sandwich order for two has taken upwards of 30 minutes, drinks have not been refilled promptly (sometimes not even brought out until asked), and the complementary bread with veggies were not brought out until asked. Though the service is quite slow, the food is so delicious that you're almost willing to forgive that aspect of your restaurant experience. Outside of that, the restaurant is clean, the servers are courteous and the food is reasonably priced.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant. I have come here at least every other week for over a year, and have never had anything less than a wonderful experience. The food is exceptional. Stopped by just to get a decent meal before heading to amusement park without knowing the area. Exceeded expectations! For just $10 total we got 2 of the vegetarian sandwiches, fresh and delicious, with friendly service in nice and clean interior. Highly recommend!

Good Food, authentic taste, and a good introduction to anyone wishing to try middle eastern food. The only caveat is that service is spotty, depending on your server. The two professional ladies in hijab are good, but the third younger server would just rather not be there. Worth a visit.

Supreme. I just love this food. I've tried most things here...and all has been perfected. Easily the very best Oven roasted Lamb shanks. Tender and juicy on a bed of Saudi Arabian rice. Best falafel, best humus by far. I promise you won't be disappointed with these authentic mid east dishes.

Lived and worked in the Middle East for many years and this is this truly authentic. Food was fresh and flavourful and portions were huge. Perhaps lacking in dessert options but otherwise amazing! Great place to take your family too. Will return for sure!

My experience was ok. Would not go again nor would I recommend. The food was ok. I had lentil soup and a kefta sandwich roll. The lentil soup had fried peta bread that needed the oil it was cooked in changed. The kefta sandwich didnt have much in it.

This is some of the best food I have ever tasted in my life! Went there today for lunch with coworkers and everything was absolutely incredible. Hands down the best hummus and falafel I have ever tried, I will definitely be back. Their kufta kebab sandwich was delicious and so moist. I just got back home from there and the service was great. Our waitress, Sondous, was great and was very nice and polite and so nice to talk to. The food was a bit saltier than im used too but never the less was still pretty good. The other waitress, Yasmine, was also so nice and welcoming. Definitely plan on going back since the service was amazing and the ambience was calm and peaceful.

We've been coming to Petra for many years, and we love it. The price is good and the food is delicious. They have the best babaganoush! I usually order the mixed grill - the chicken, lamb, and kufta (ground beef) are all tender and well seasoned. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean and comfortable. I give 4 instead of 5 stars because sometimes the service can be a little slow or inattentive. Drink refills are a bit slow. Otherwise, great place and we will continue to eat here!

They are always very friendly and welcoming and the food is phenomenal and consistently phenomenal. The prices are reasonable and plates always full! They go above and beyond and surprise you with “little extras” every once in a while. The restaurant is also very clean and service prompt. Go and go again!!

Wow. The food is GREAT!! A note to patrons though. Keep in mind the traditional dress of the middle eastern women. I originally walked in with a shirt that exposed my shoulders and quickly realized I needed to cover myself more out of respect for the other patrons and the waitresses. Took my friend here to introduce her to Shawarma. I'd never been here before. The food... Oh the food. It was so much better than I imagined. I got this dish with lamb and tomato, and it came with a bowl of what I thought was mixed boiled vegetables, but turned out to be packed with flavor pickled veggies. I wish I had a bigger stomach so that I could have ordered more things. Neither my friend nor I could finish all the food and it was so much better than I could have imagined. Then I got the bill. It was like HALF what I would have expected to pay for food of this quality. I now have a new favorite restaurant.

UPDATE: 7/18/15 - Visit: Totally awesome food once again. I got the Petra Grill and it was delicious, all the meats were super tender and spiced perfectly. Only downside this visit is the service was not that great - slow and brought out my wife's meal with the appetizer and gave some lame excuse as to why. Just own the mistake! Really good middle eastern food here. I got the petra grill with beef chicken and ground lamb with a side of hummus and babaganoush. The meat was seasoned perfectly and had a great grill taste. The hummus was creamy with a prefect nutty and smoked taste, same for the babaganoush. The service was good and the restaurant had average to good cleanliness. We will definitely come back.

Ordered the chicken shawarma and the mesabaha. Best middle eastern food I’ve had in Tampa. The chicken in the shawarma was moist and not dry at all. You could tell the mesabaha is home made, includes actual chick peas in the mesabaha which is adds a different texture, very tasty. Would recommend to anyone. Such a find! Today I experienced the best ever baba ghanoush of my life! The creamy combination of slightly smokey eggplant enveloped with all the other ingredients was like a symphony in my mouth. Same for the hummus topped with a true high quality olive oil. Their salad was so simple yet pure needing no extra seasoning at all. After the fire some years ago, this tiny Middle Eastern restaurant/market metamorphosed into a much larger restaurant, evidently accommodating a larger clientelle - and they are the cognoscenti! The food is superb! The atmosphere is casual, the location casual (in a strip mall), but all that pales when sampling the mezes, baba ganoush, shish-kebabs, pickled vegetables, warm, fat pita bread, and many specialties from Lebanon, Jordan, and other regions of the Middle East. Fantastic! I have eaten there often, and will endeavor to bring some friends for a small party!

Delicious middle eastern food made fresh! I don't speak the language and was welcomed. Mild to hot tasting with great flavor in baba ganoush but no tabouli, before they had the freshest one in town. Yo, the chicken kabab sandwich and pickled vegetables make my heart flutter. I've been daydreaming about them since I first laid my taste buds on that warm moist peta. The chicken has enough flavor to make up for all the unseasoned chicken in the entire state of Florida. The garlic sauce you get with it makes it somehow, 23 times better, which I didn't even think was possible. I might even name my next child Petra just because....damn.
