We wanted to make sure to eat as local as possible while in Tampa. This establishment hit every mark—even better it is both woman and Black-owned—and the food was good as well. The prices are a bit high but for the overall quality of the menu, the cost was understandable, so we didn’t mind paying the price. Just be sure to keep this in mind if you’re a large group. The seafood is a bit higher than most of the other entrees and there is little in the way of seating—a couple booths—as this is mainly a takeout spot. Overall, we enjoyed our visit to this location and would return.

1st time in the area and got a winner. First of all my food wasn't too salty which is a huge plus for me. The collard greens were seasoned very well and again not too salty and cut up at a nice size. I ordered whiting which was good I'd usually don't like as much breading on it but it had a good taste. The wedding came over a yellow rice which had a nice taste to it as well and again not too salty. Besides the collard greens I had a side order of macaroni and cheese. I'm not a huge macaroni and cheese eater but the macaroni and cheese to me was satisfying and good. I am so happy that it wasn't like just a box macaroni and cheese. For me the cornbread was a little dry but acceptable. Overall the store was very clean. I will definitely go back and try it other dishes. The portion that they gave was very good.

The food is exactly what I didn't know I needed. Tagged my mother and daughter along. They ordered wings but I went all in with the oxtail, yellow rice, mac n' cheese, and corn bread. My biggest regret is not ordering a to-go plate. I'll be back. 🤤

Okay so my husband and I had an oxtails plate each. I got cabbage and he got collard greens. Prices have gone up from what they say and that's fine, it's expected. If you're used to eating oxtails like we are they are worth the price. Anyways, our plate came with rice and cornbread and we both chose Mac and cheese as our side. Everything was good, I'm so used to having peas/beans in my rice from the Jamaican restaurants here in GA, this restaurant's rice didn't come with beans and that's okay. Everything was tasty. No issues. I also got the yams and they are good. Everything was good, we would definitely return.

The cajun butter shrimp & potatoes was really good! The collard greens were seasoned great. They didn't have meat in them. I liked the basa fish, but one piece over bread was $8 no sides. The strawberry lemonade was so good I had to go back for another cup. Customer service was lack luster but the food was good! I tried this black family owned soulfood/seafood spot off MLK in Tampa Florida yes It was #smacktastic. The strawberry lemonade was so bomb that I got 2 cups & one to go! It taste better than chessecake factory strawberry lemonade! Just not $5 a glass 🤭 Mini shrimp boil Collard greens Basa fried fish 🐟 (light &crispy & overpriced) Con's was the lack luster customer service.

This place was well worth the wait!! Took about 35-40 minutes. Food tasted great!! Strongly recommended was the best meal out of my week long trip to Florida. I came back 1 month later and enjoyed more of this wonderful food. The Mac n cheese was bangin!!

I ordered the jerk chicken, yams and macaroni & cheese. The meal comes with yellow rice. Overall the food was very good. The only downside was the texture of the yams. The meal was enough for me to share with my daughter. Also came with cornbread, which was Not bad but not anything special. I ordered the homemade strawberry lemonade which was pretty good too. Will absolutely be trying more from them. (The pic was taken after I already ate some, the plate was much more put together than this)

Food was good. Place needs to update the look along with the bathroom being dirty. The girl working the front isn’t helpful, rude scrolling Instagram while me and my boyfriend were trying to order! You can tell a lot of people travel in from out of town to try the food, and she wasn’t helpful or social able at all. She also said we couldn’t dine in, in a rude way after I told her the plastic container was melting into my macaroni and that it wasn’t safe ! She said “ we always do it like that” I was sitting down 5 months pregnant trying to adjust my food and she got an attitude about me sitting saying the dine in area wasn’t for use, but no sign was posted. I explained I’m waiting for my Uber. She needs to work on hospitality and communication skills.

I had 6 fried shrimp, yellow rice, Mac & cheese, yams and cornbread. Shrimp were seasoned to perfection..not too much or too little. Mac & cheese and yams could use a little more work, but yams were decent to be canned. Corn bread was amazing. They do give a lot of food, service was good and price was ok for amount of food you get. I'll definitely go back and try something else they offer because the menu has a lot to offer

Great small business - Black Woman owner. Scrumptious soul food - a tad higher in price than I anticipated, but totally worth it. The seafood is a bit higher than most of the other entrees. Super cozy - only two booths seating 4 each - obviously mainly serves takeout. Parking is tight. We enjoyed our visit and will return.

I’m from the Bahamas so I don’t usually eat soul food. My husband and I wanted some cook food and we came across this restaurant. This soul food was amazing. Probably the best soul food I’ve ever had in America. I definitely felt the love that was made in this food. (Def felt it in my soul) 🤣 Some of the meals came with cornbread and the cornbread melts in your mouth. 😭 Everything was amazing the only thing I needed was some hot sauce for my collard greens.

Me and my daughters had this for dinner last night and I almost cried because it was so good. Like seriously, I'm going back today ☺️☺️ I'm not from Tampa so I was looking for a good seafood and the fact that they have soul food too like wow Ohio count ur days best oxtail I ever had in my life and my mama is Jamaican 😬😬😂😂 God bless this business and everyone in it. My family and I came to Tampa for my son's performance in the MLK parade. I Google this restaurant and decided to check them out. Sooo glad we did. The food was fresh and absolutely delicious! I had the oxtail. Tender and flavorful. My husband had the catfish dinner! That catfish was soo dang good I wanted to order 2 more to go but we had a 4hr drive home. It was fried to perfection!!! Definitely the best we've ever had! Customer service was also exceptional!!!! Great place!!! Can't wait to come back and try more items!

The hush puppies were good.... The fries seemed to have been leftover and were cold. The fish was supposed to be catfish and it was more breading than fish and extremely thin. I wanted oxtails but they weren't ready at 3 p.m ??? Customer service was good.

This small storefront hides some very tasty food. Wanted to try their menu for a long time, finally stopped and I’m glad i did. I had a delicious Dirty Shrimp with garlic. They give generous portions, everything tasted fresh and tons of flavor. Next time I will try their ‘soul food’.

On my 1st visit I am going to report this was a great expereince, the establishment and the food was even better than that the reviews I had read, the food received was High quality and perfectly cooked as far as I'm concerned… The cajun shrimp was large plump and juicy The hush puppies were fried to perfection In addition to the Cajun shrimps associated pasta… I can find no fault in any of this and they have a full menu of other food I really want to try like Shrimp Shila as well.

Very yummy yams! Cornbread was soft and cake-like, yellow rice was good too. Mac and cheese had a WONDERFULLY baked top crust! But, the greens, catfish batter, and the Mac could have used a little more season salt. All and all, still very good for a first time visit.

Best Soul Food in Hillsborough County ! The mac and cheese is so cheesy and lightly salted, the whiting (fish) was so warm and lacked a fishy smell and it was all hot and fresh, making it an excellent option for those who want a good southern home cooked meal like I did .

Oh man I'm glad me and my girl decided to stop by before our trip up to GA. Ms Rene will hook your plate, sprinkle a special seasoning of love all over your food. Next time I'm. Tampa definitely stopping by for more of that curry chicken. Couldn't take a pic of the banana pudding before I dug into into, took one bite and couldn't stop.

Fried food at its finest! We had a large order and we were told approximately 30 minutes. It did take a little longer but well worth the wait! Excellent friend Captain's Platter and phenomenal fried catfish sandwich! Highly recommend!

This is one place you have to Go to if your in Tampa. The food was really good. This is consider one of those Hidden Gems that you come across. All the locals knows about it. I'm from Chicago and heard about it and had to go see it for myself. I truly recommend this place.

Food was delicious, best cornbread I have ever had. The jerk chicken was smooth, smokey and very delicious while the oxtail was fall off the bone. A little pricey but the large portions and the taste makes it worth it. Will deff go back when I visit Tampa.

Was visiting Fl and wanted some seafood went to this restaurant - I am very particular with cleanliness, smells, waitstaff attention, cost, selection, quality and quantity of items ordered. The hostess was very professional, well articulated, courteous and engaging. The smells from the bbq pit were overwhelming and had me longing for summer. I had grilled Grouper which was out of this world seasoned just right no salty taste the baked red potatoes, potato salad (like my mom used to make) was delicious and to top it off the red velvet cake was the perfect ending to a highly recommended meal. The food was amazing we spent $80 and it was so worth it the next time I visit Florida I'm so going back. Customer service was excellent. They were so sweet, welcoming and helpful. Mac n cheese was good, yams were amazing, and the blue velvet and red velvet cake was magnificent. The crabs although fresh, the garlic and Cajun crabs flavoring was off. It was bland and was missing something to give it that pow that I was looking for. However, I will be returning and trying other items because it may have just been an off day.

This is one review I had no problem writing. After searching for a good resturant in the area and nothing that's apart of a chain. We came across Ladies of the Sea on Yelp and decided to take a 15min drive to see what it was about and other than finding out due to the small store front location we couldn't sit inside to eat due to Covid WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED. We ordered our meals and asked question after question and NECIE did not get mad one bit. She explained everything to the "T" and everything came out just as she mentioned! We were able to enjoy the sounds of the community and sit outside at the picnic tables and enjoy our meals. This BLACK OWNED business is one that we will be sure to visit everytime we leave South Carolina and visit Tampa! Awesome customer service and great SeaSoulfood!

Although small the place was packed with customers but surprisingly the service was very fast. The food was super hot....Was not quite sure how they managed that though they did! Stopped in for the first time today. Very quaint little place and easy to miss if you don't know where to look. I ordered the Cajun Shrimp and Pasta dish. The dish was served with new potatoes in a very tasty butter sauce, the potatoes were perfect and well seasoned. The hush puppies were also very good and all the ingredients appeared to be fresh. The biggest disappointment in the dish was the shrimp. Being labeled as a Cajun dish I was expecting a good bit of spice and some heat and in this case there was absolutely no flavor to the shrimp, no spice, no heat, honestly tasted like plain shrimp with nothing added. The pasta retained some good flavor and a little bit of spice. Overall the dish was OK but the main ingredient in the dish left a lot to be desired. I will be back to try more items with hopes they will get the spice right next time.

My favorite spot in TAMPA!! The girls at the front are always so friendly. And I’ve literally tried everything! I was in love with the oxtails and that’s still my favorite but the turkey wings have become new go to.

We were in the search for quick bite to eat and in the mood for seafood. I'm absolutely love the Cajun crabs. I was pleasantly surprised the food was delicious. Prices I thought were reasonable. Plan on waiting for your food it's made to order which I really appreciated...very small restaurant only two booths, which is okay if your getting your food to go we were able to eat at the restaurant.

Excellent seafood! I ordered the garlic shrimp and pasta which included garlic potatoes whereas my husband ordered the dirty snow crab combo which included polish sausage, potatoes, corn on the cob, and noodles. Both meals were phenomenal. We have tried similar places in the area but this blew everyone else out of the water. Only two booths but we took our food to go and it was nice and hot when we got home. The potato salad was a little too sweet for my liking. We will definitely be back!

I discovered this place about a month ago. I have been coming ever since. At least 2/3 times a week because the garlic crabs are so good. One week I decided to order something else and that’s when my decision not to come back was made final. Their prices are way too high and they give you very little food. I wish I can post a picture of my plate I got on here. Never again. Good food but too expensive. You can’t get full.

The food was awesome! Huge portions, but cost more than you'd expect considering location. Owner and others hanging out were super friendly. Only 2 booths for sitting, and cramped. Neighborhood is a bit on the rough side. The super friendly and engaging server forgot to give us utensils and I asked for crab crackers, she said "sure" but kept right on talking to others and I never got them. No fountain pop...tons of Un needed pasta I could have lived without. But, it all tasted really good.

Did over 20000 steps at work and I was hungry.. Found this place called ‘Ladies of the Sea and Soulfood.’ located on MLK near 27th street.. it’s small has a 2 booths so no eating in and that was made clear when she asked for my phone number, so I waited in the car. I chose the Basa Fish ( grilled very well and was nicely portioned )over yellow well seasoned rice, coleslaw and really light and delicious Hushpupoies.. topped with diced onions and peppers..have to say it was really good. Not salty and the Basa is seasoned with a mild heat. If you mix with the coleslaw it marries well. The Basa was flaky and grilled just enough to maintain its moistness . The yellow rice was fluffy and slight moist from the Basa. The coleslaw, to me, had just a little too much Mayo. So it was a slightly thick but still well Seasoned . Prices are very reasonable . Would visit again just to try the fried catfish and crab legs... due to Covid all orders were to go ..

Visiting Tampa for the weekend as we have almost once a month for a while now, and while googling for possible breakfast options, came across Ladies Of The Sea! My wife and I are very glad we did! The service was excellent, but the food was the star of the show. We had two crab boxes (fried & dirty), an oxtail and a turkey wing dinners with excellent sides, an order of conch fritters, and the tomato base version of conch salad. My wife and I both make a mean conch salad (Bahamian roots), and as a better than amateur home cook, I can be very critical of food quality and cooking technique. Zero complaints other than perhaps I should have ordered more items! We had a fridge in the hotel! No worries... this one is in rotation!

I was told about a Little Spot called Ladies of The Sea, my teammates mentioned this place had really good seafood and soul food, so I wanted to check it out for myself, I tried Ladies of The Sea today and the food was really good not over seasoned, it was just right for my taste buds. I wanted to get the full effect of this place, so I ordered the Shrimp Shilah and the Oxtails Collard Greens & Rice with Potato Salad, ALL IS WELL!!!! We ordered the garlic snow crabs and shrimp platter. It came with corn and potatoes. The food was delicious, full of flavor, fresh nice and hot. We had to wait a while but it was so worth it. The hush puppies was hot, crispy and delicious also. We ordered the oxtails, collard greens and Mac and cheese to go. Looks good so far. The owner is courteous, helpful, down to earth and we was able to watch A movie of our choice on Netflix.

So I went on Google and Flavas BBQ as well as Ladies of the Sea & soul food popped up. I decided to go with Ladies of the Sea. I kid you not their food is so delicious and finger licking everything came out perfect. Food is made daily and seafood cook to order. I was looking for a soul-food restaurant since I moved here from Miami. Every time I searched, I was always directed to places that didn't even scratch the surface. I took a shot at the search again, and this time I added more elements of search within the search. I was directed to "Ladies of the Sea" I decided to give them a try. From the moment I walked in, I was assisted and greeted with a welcome. The owner Rene was nothing less than professional and courteous. Even though she didn't have to, she gave me an extra side for my wait. Funny thing was that I really wanted to try that side too (LOL). Once I made it back home and dived in, I was not disappointed. Besides traveling back 4 hours to Miami for some good soul-food home cooking, I can drive 20-25 minutes to "Ladies of the Sea"
