Had a meal here on my girls birthday and again when family was visiting us. The meal was good and staff was alright but not great. Ordered fried ice cream before leaving though and they forgot about me and my order for a good 20 minutes and no one could help me out so they loose a star for that.

Simply delightful! Service is on point, discreet but effective. Clean and upbeat house music playing with colors brighting the atmosphere. This place makes you happy from inside out. Bellow you see sashimi appetizer, filet mignon carpaccio. The highlight of the evening was the ‘fantastic tuna’ (giant piece of tuna wrapped w spicy krabmeat, avocado w dive cilantro sauce) paired with Nigori crème de Sake. So delicious!

Had one of the most amazing dinner experiences in my life. The hibachi chef was awesome. He did all the tricks and made it a show for us. Our food was really tasty and the portions were pretty decent. I loved all the food I had there. One person in our group was celebrating his birthday and they literally had disco lights going when we sang for him. They Brought him a nice ice-cream desert. We ordered sushi but I was so stuffed I couldn't try it. But my group said it was great! The cocktail I had was also super tasty. The hibachi chef sprayed sake into our mouths which was super fun and got me buzzing. Love this place. I recommend it to anyone who wants to eat great food all while having an awesome time.

Hostess, manager was on it, watching the whole operation. It was a busy night but she got us right in. Food was good, big portions at the hibachi grill. There are multiple hibachi s in the same room, making for a very loud, festive time, more so than others I have been too. Might have just been the college birthday party crowd on a Saturday night. Giving 4 stars because apps came out late, no glass for the beer, had to ask for chopsticks, all minor things. Would go back.

Great place for lunch. The sushi was perfect. More meat, less rice. It's the only place in Tampa Bay that I've found that does this. And it's perfect! So delicious!!! The Hibachi Shrimp & Steak was also spot on. Definitely coming back!

There are a limited number of Hibachi restaurants in Tampa and Koto's is conveniently central. After seeing the overall review score I was a bit skeptical, but this place did not disappoint. The service was fast and friendly. Temper your expectations it's Hibachi, but would recommend no less. The kids loved it and I'm sure I got some extra serving. Great place for family and kids. We had edamame, California Rolls, and Hibachi. We will definitely be returning for my son's birthday.

Nice atmosphere with decent food. The chefs are cool and won't hesitate to joke around with you in a playful way. I got my steak hibachi medium both times and it was cooked just how i like it. Prices are reasonable for a hibachi. For $21, you get rice, noodles, grilled veggies, steak, and a couple of pieces of shrimp. It also includes a cup of salad and a cup of clear soup. Overall, it's a nice dining experience worth trying.

Let’s be honest. It’s not Kobe but it has its own charm. Love the saké shots they shoot into your mouth and the cooks have a little more freedom to have more fun. Food is good but not the best hibachi in Tampa. Still. Living in South Tampa for a few years this place has a special place in my heart.

This place is one of the best hibachi/sushi places that I have ever been to. Me and my family aat and ate at the sushi bar and had a great time. The service was amazing and the food was even better. I got the chicken teriyaki,a sweet potato roll(for people who may not like fish), a California tempura roll, and yaki soba. Every dish was amazing and I had lots of fun watching the sushi being made in front of me. I will definitely return to this restaurant.

Wonderful experience while we were staying nearby on vacation. Fresh ingredients. We visited during the week and didn't have trouble getting seated. The tempura, seaweed salad, soups and sushi were are wonderful. I am definitely keeping this on my list for when we return to Tampa.

So much Fun for a pretty good dinner. Food is prepared right in front of you with lots of entertainment. I would try to call ahead for a reservation… we tried but we’re told no. We still went … waited about an hour but it was worth the wait. Decent portions … and really fresh. Our chef was really good and kept us entertained. We even got a birthday discount for our daughter. You have to show proof it’s your actual birthday so we brought her passport. It was definitely something that everyone enjoyed!!!!!

Definitely the best Hibachi place near downtown! Although they did seem quite understaffed on Valentine’s Day, I can’t blame them because all restaurants are feeling that currently. I can say that the service was excellent and our food tasted great! I had the steak and chicken combo and my wife had the salmon and both were excellent, along with all the hibachi sides. It was also a very fun environment, and I will definitely be back.

Been going here for years, and it's still my favorite hibachi to go to. Between the kind staff, clean place overall it feels great to be in. I've had every cook in this place cook my dinner, and never has my steak come out different than what i ordered with me or any of my friends. Been going here for over 6 years. I waited a very long time for my food and we even had a mix up with the bill. However, the food was delicious and the manager made up for all of our concerns. She even game me a to go meal after the waiter threw my leftovers away when I stepped away to the bathroom. Sophia is the owner, she was very pleasant and professional.

I’m like a sushi connoisseur - this rice was old. And that makes the sushi completely not worth the money. My husband (the kind of guy who eats chicken sandwiches with no toppings except mustard) said the food was good. The staff was friendly enough I guess.

I've been to quite a few hibachi restaurants in the bay, and my experience here was hands down the best! The chef was entertaining and performed everything with enthusiasm. I had the filet and chicken and it was worth every penny. My daughter had the childrens steak and she loved it. The server was friendly and quick. Very relaxing atmosphere as well. We will definitely be back again, they're sushi selection looked amazing as well. Will definitely recommend to friends and family.

We were visiting, love Japanese Steak houses. Feel let down. Was not that busy but was a wait. We were seated at basically a separate table but that was ok. Service was rushed for no reason. Cook was nothing special, no jokes just normal basic stuff that anyone could do. Salad dressing did not taste good to us, was not given a choice, normally ginger or oil & vinegar. Steak had a odd taste, like they tried to fake a BBQ flavor, very off putting. People beside us ordered shots 3 times never received them. Will not go back.

Very Good food at a decent price, I got the chicken and salmon combo and it came out perfect, it came with rice AND noodles. Not only was it a lot of food with some left to take home but the best part was talking to our chef, his name was Augustus and I would go back just to have him again. Very funny and knee how to keep a conversation goin with multiple parties who had never met before. All in all A PERFECT place to get hibachi with a great atmosphere and customer service

Our third time eating here and this restaurant does. not. miss. From the great service and drink prices to the entertaining hibachi chef. We even ate here after Gasparilla and while we had to wait an hour, all of the employees from the host to bussers, were on overdrive to sit and feed a large crowd. I hope they were awarded bonuses. Great portions and flavor. Our favorite hibachi, hands down.

The Sushi was the best we ever had, my wife and I really liked the food and drinks. The greeter was great and some of the staff were really nice, however our waiter was horrible she rushed us and not even had any recommendations. I ordered a beer and thought she was going to pour it on the glass and not even that, I said thank you a few time she dint even agnoledge the fact that I was grateful. If you cannot be in a good mood and provide good service you should not be in the service business period. I will definitely come back here and eat because the food was amazing, however I will ask for a different waiter.

They were so accommodating to my seafood allergy, our server Crystal was so kind and reassuring the entire way, I forgot to tell them about the allergy and our server was just so kind. The portions were huge I got extra rice and did not need it because it came with so much! She was there to cater our every need, didn’t have to ask for a single refill, and it was perfect. I went during lunch and got the dinner menu, next time I’ll just stick with the lunch since the portions seem reasonable. They have one cook during lunch so Hibachi isn’t as available like dinner, but we were fine sitting at a booth and enjoying ourselves. I love this place it’s my second time so we will be back!

The food is always pretty good. The grill tables are a fun time. They do sake shots for those of age which is always entertaining to watch. Their food also holds up well if you do it as a to go order. One of the better places in South Tampa if you're looking for a good grill table experience. Be prepared for it to be loud and chaotic - especially if there happen to be a lot of birthdays on the night you're there, but it's definitely all part of the experience.

Straight forward menu. I had the filet mignon and sea bass hibachi. Also did fried oysters and veggies tempura for appetizers. Everything was well cooked and seasoned. I was surprised because places like these are usually very high in saltiness. They make strong drinks too. Had the Raz-Tini. Excited to go back

Really nice place, welcoming environment and custo er service that is top notch. The server was nice, the food was tasty and their late night happy hour was pretty cool. I like the gyozas and the sauce they came with, it has really good flavor. I tried a lot of different things during my visit and there wasn't one item i did not like. The plum wine was really sweet but they replaced it for me with no hassle. It was good, just to sweet for my liking. Pay them a visit.

This was probably the best hibachi experience I've ever had. We went on Valentine's Day and were able to get in without a reservation at 8pm! Amazing! The food was downright amazing. Our chef was SO enthusiastic and FUN. Free sake shots! The pina colada was also really good.

Food and service were good. We didn't want to wait 45 minutes for tableside hibachi so we sat in a booth, which was fine, just not the same experience. The restaurant won't take hibachi reservations for less than 4 people. There were only 3 of us. One complaint-we ordered the Turtle Molten Bundt for dessert but, sadly, there was nothing molten about the "turtle" caramel. It was a solid glob in the middle of the bundt. They obviously didn't heat the cake enough to melt the caramel. 😫 I will say my Chilean Sea Bass hibachi was very tasty, as were the filet and salmon entrees. The edamame (plain, not the spicy) were flavorful and cooked just right.

I can't complain about Koto. We were greeted right away, brought to our table and had our soup and salad within minutes of sitting down. I liked our chef the best, he was a hibachi pro and made our meal very much enjoyable- I think his name is Roy. Our portions size was very generous, and as other reviews mentioned, the noodles, rice and shrimp appetizer are a bonus. Finally a place where my husband can leave satisfied.

very nice clean establishment. the hosts always seem a little flustered but the waiters/waitresses are always nice. we went last week only 5 minutes before they closed lunch and they were hapy to serve us, our food came fast, and its all very yummy. damn good prices too if u go for lunch. 10 bucks for 3 rolls, miso soup, and salad! this will be one of my regular spots :)

Love this place!! They take reservations. Otherwise you will wait a bit Sometimes for hibachi but I’ve never waited too long. They let you share a hibachi plate for an additional $7 which gives each person soup and salad. No other Japanese place does this!!

The staff was shot-handed (and it sounds like that was the norm) so we weren't able to order drinks or food very often. The hibachi chefs were good and they cooked up the steak and lobster perfectly. This is a popular place for kids' birthdays, the birthday music/lights do not fit the atmosphere and can be annoying, so be forewarned.

We utilized the hibatchi for an early family meal. We like to go to Bennihana occassionaly so this is what Ill compare it to for rating. Our chef was fantastic, included our toddler in the actities as well as the baby. The food was good to great. Surviving a dinner out with the littles is a feat in itself, the Chef made it enjoyable for everyone. The dinning room could use a spruce and the cuisine was a little more family fare but overall a 4- 5 for good experience, good food, and my toddler ate veggies yall... that man deserves a medal.

We tried Koto as my other half loved sushi and I could have a steak. According to her, the sushi was excellent and the lychee Martini was fantastic. Unfortunately, my experience was less satisfying. I had the volcano filet mignon. Yes, it was tender but definitely not cooked medium rare. It was also served covered in sauce which was all that I tasted, spoiled the flavour of the meat. Whilst not a bad meal, definitely not great and not worth $70 for two.

To Tytiyana Wheeler and all the viewers in this website, I feel it is very necessary for me to defend myself. I am the server that Ms Wheeler's described as "Horrible" but she can't even find a detail of what kind of horrible service she received that she can write about. So now let me tell everyone what is the truth. It was on Friday night, Ms Tyriyana Wheeler and her friend were sat at my table with 7 other customers, they ordered Sherry Tamples with extra cherries and extra grenadine to drink, Spider Roll without caviar as appetizer and 2 Hibachi Dinners. They were greeted by me with smiles, their drinks with special requests were served quickly and correctly and they never have a chance to see the bottom of their glass because the timely refills I offered. Right after everybody gave their dinner orders, everone was served with a soup and a ginger salad as quickly as within two minutes. After Ms Tytiyana Wheeler drank her soup, she asked me to take her salad away and give he another soup instead, and I brought it to her right away. Their Spider Roll was served before their dinners and they ate them all. Right at the moment the chef arrived to their table and ready to cook, Ms Tytiyana Wheeler's friend wanted to change her order, she wanted No Noodle but Extra Fried Rice, and then Ms Wheeler wanted to change hers too, so I talked to the chef who is right behind me at the table about the changes, he went right back to the kitchen and came out with extra rices then he started cooking. During the cooking and eating time, I constantly went back to check on table every few minutes and ask Everyone like "How's everything so far?" " How's the food taste?" , and the responses were POSSITIVE at all times. Yap, possitive response from Ms Wheeler and her friend too! When they're done eating, Ms Wheeler ask for togo boxes for leftovers and Yumyum sauces togo which they got it rightaway. And all these times they were served by me with smiles on my face and friendly tone of voice. . Now come to pay points, Ms Wheeler wrote a BIG "0" on tip section on her credit card slip, so I figured there might be something wrong at this visit and I am possitive it wasn't my services. So I asked them again "How's everything tonight?" They answered " It was good." Then I asked " How's my service tonight? Did I take good care of you ladies ? " . They answered " Oh, you did great, service was good" . Then I showed them the credit card slip they just signed with big "0" tip and ask " So the service was good like you said , why you don't want to take care me? ". And thsee following words poped out quickly from Ms Tytiyana Wheeler's mouth " I HATED the food! ". WOW, what a dramatic turn on that !!! So I told them if there was something wrong with the food or they don't like it they could always tell us at the beginning or ask for a manager at the end to solve the problems , so they asked me for my name and ask me to get the manager for them. I sent them our manager, and he refunded Ms Wheeler's dinner despite the other 7 customers at the same hibachi table enjoyed the exactly same food so much and taking the leftovers home as second day's lunches. Remember this part, Ms Wheeler and her friend asked for boxes too! After Ms Wheeler's bill was adjusted and refunded, I handed her the new credit card slip and walk away to give her privacy to sign, and she wrote a big "0" on tip again after her problem was addressed and solved and just left quickly. Now she left this review after she left the restaurant saying the sevice was "Horrible" , I must step up and tell everyone the truth that Ms Tytiyana Wheeler tried to hide and tried to misdirect our customers, trust me, some people are good at this kind of misbehaving.

I have to say I have eaten in alot of hibachi steak houses and I have to say this one was one of my favs, not only from the staff and cook but everything from star to finish was spot on, I dined with my little niece and from the waitress to the cook were excellent to my little nice, from the waitress bringing Ice for her soup, to the cook making sure he diced her shrimp before serving, all in all I had a excellent experience and I am sure there is another family out there that would enjoy the same experience as I had from this excellent establishment
