Recently had a company gathering here (Saturday 12-18-22). We had catering, drinks, games, and a private room. It was amazing. I loved the atmosphere. The aesthetic is great and loved watching sports during down time from the gathering. The service was exceptional. I love that the owner made sure to speak to us and make us feel welcome. We had chicken sliders, wings, pizza, and salad. Everything was tasty and the drinks were delicious. It was my first time here since I recently moved to the area. I will definitely keep this as a top option to hang with friends and future company outings. King of the Coop made our event a success. Thank you!

This location is quite underwhelming. I guess you would consider it more of a take out place than a dine in but there are tables out in the back. The chicken is unique enough and tasty enough to overcome the lack. I believe there is a second location on Howard maybe it has a better presence. Good spicy chicken!

We heard about king of the coop from one of the instagram pages and from there we came to know about the history of king of the coop. So for Friday night dinner we decided to have dinner at King of the coop. For the order after having discussions with our server Gabriella and after browsing through the menu we decided to order Nashville Tenders and Nashville Hot Sandwich. We got the order in 10-15 minutes. The only drawback is that it is a small shop with no seating so better be prepared to takeout the food. The food was hot and freshly prepared. The food was delicious and loved the sandwich as well as chicken tenders. Loved the food and loved the service. Definitely try out this place.

This place was recommended to me by someone as the best chicken tenders he has ever had. Well I had to check it out when in town this weekend. I went twice in three days it was that good. First by myself and then with my Wife. She loved it too! The tenders are amazing. They are Cajun style with a dry rub on them. Delish. The sauces are amazing. The fries Mac and cheese and tenders combination is exceptional. The one thing that wasn’t great was the time waiting and service the second time i went. It was a long wait for service and food, but the food was amazing. The decor is pretty cool too! Highly recommended.

Ordered the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich and the chicken tenders. Both were very good, the seasoning was well done and spicy. Added the King Sauce which gave it more tang. The Mac n Cheese was beer cheese mix which was tasty. Overall great food! This location in St Pete just opened and Is only offering takeout/delivery only. I ordered from their website without issue. The customer service was great.

Best Nashville hot chicken in Tampa! The level 5 is just hot enough to where I get a little sweat and still enjoy that awesome taste. Great sized portions, amazing food all around!! Grateful they finally came to St Pete!!

10/10 chicken tenders, the cole slaw is around $3.00 extra, when made right it is worth it! The employees and service is great and fast. Although the last time unfortunately we found a piece of metal in our mac and cheese. Thank goodness we saw before consuming it. Other than this there’s nothing really else to complain about. They also forgot my bread. Would and have recommended to friends and family !!

Perfectly done y'all. Perfect breading, spice, sauce, and dont even get me started on the "roll"-like bread. Coops juice is koolaid and lemonade. Classic. Fries were excellent as well. This is exactly what I wanted from a Nashville Hot sandwich!!

I guess the best Nashville style spicy fried a place around tampa. They moved to this new location just a block away which is quite specious . Barely any parking though. Absolutely loved the Nashville hot! The Hen is a for someone whose not into spicy. Both of them rocks. The fries are outstanding .

The ambiance is amazing! Such a good vibe! Great food, good music, polite staff. Especially Carlos. He made our first time experience here memorable. I love how the outside bar allows dogs and speaking of bar the drinks are made to perfection. We definitely came to the right place to kick off the weekend. We will definitely return!

got the tender basket, midway. the spice level was perfect- not extremely spicy, but also not for those who can’t handle it. tenders were very good, a bit sweet and powdery which was new to me, but not bad. fries were delicious. 7.5/10

I am trying to find some good Nashville hot chicken around town, and I expected the chicken from here to be much hotter, in my opinion. It was decent - maybe it tastes better when physically ordering from here, at least that's how it usually goes pretty much anywhere I've delivered/ordered from. The coleslaw was basic but good. The fries were probably the most delicious in the meal overall. The pickles weren't that fresh. The sauce that comes with the meal is good.

Can I first just say the banana pudding pudding was the best, most flavorful pudding I've had in a VERY long time? I legit was NOT expecting that. DELICIOUS. Although, overly sweet. Appreciated that the large is just $5.99 -- too. Not a lot of cookie, some crumbles on top and a slight dusting as bottom layer. (See pics.) That's fine; I don't like vanilla wafers, honestly. However, maybe only 5 slices of banana on top. Would've liked more of that. Even still, happy with this creamy sweet pudding and would absolutely get it again! Even if I can only eat a few bites at a time. FYI, the dry person who took phone order said I had to pay "before they will prepare this food." Um. Alright? I've heard stories about restaurants losing $ with so much food going to waste due to food delivery service issues. And it's not like I wasn't about to leave to pick it up. So I paid beforehand, no big deal. Though as I think about it, not sure why I wasn't more hesitant since I'd never been to this restaurant before, and had no idea about them or their food. She also said they'd text when it was ready, then gave me no estimate on ... how long that would be. So I just drove there right away and sat in the vacant lot next door, waiting for their text. Though the order taking woman was lackluster, once I arrived, all the employees I encountered gave a genuine-seeming smile and/or greeted me, so that was nice. The person who gave me my food was cool and nice. The worst part was the mac and cheese. It seemed like velveeta shells and cheese with a slight amount more cheese, and a slight hint of spice. I was sad about this. Some pics looked like it might taste like that; others looked like there was a layer of melted cheese on top, like it was homemade and baked. I hoped for the best (the good, gooey one). Sadly, I did not get that. I won't be getting this again. I have mixed feelings. I may come back one day and actually try the chicken. In the pics, it looked great. (That salad looks amazing!) But oh...! The banana pudding pudding...!! *faints*

Hands down. The best Hot Chicken in all of Tampa Bay. They have everything from loaded fries and loaded mac, to crispy tenders and flaky catfish. King Of The Coop is THE spot to go to in town for chicken. PERIOD!

This place was amazing! We all got the Mac King sandwich. I got Nashville hot and others were the Midway level. King sauce was elite. Got fries and collard greens. Very good greens lots if pulled pork in there. Will be back soon.

Wow, just wow! the food was pretty awesome, drinks were great as well. Customer service was a bit short staffed but the ones who were there treated my group and I pretty well. The Nashville hot sauce was pretty great so whatever option you make sure it’s tossed in it. The space is very wide and has a bunch of things to do inside and out and it seems like it would be a fun hangout spot. Definitely would go again for the fresh bread and the crispy chicken!

The batter is a little intense for the fried chicken however the sauce is amazing. The chicken strips however could use a little more love. The sides of hush puppies and fries though were really good. The waitress for her to be fairly new gave excellent service.

The seasoned fries were divine! We were advised to not get their spiciest option after we stated it was our first visit. I would say if you know you like spicy, just go with the spiciest option. We got intimated when the cashier insisted we didn't and found that our sandwich was almost on the sweet side for our taste buds. We look forward to returning though and getting their spiciest option.

Definitely one of those "hole in the wall" places, literally and figuratively (there actually was a hole in the wall in the painting picture) lol. It is shared space with Wicked BBQ, but you walk in and order and get your food to go. Parking is tight, but the food is AMAZING so I can see why they get so busy. We got the King Mac in Nashville Hot (pretty spicy on the back end-has mac n cheese, slaw, chicken and some MAGICAL coop sauce all over it) with seasoned fries. I got the Dirty Bird, in the medium level spicy (had a good flavor) with the sauce all over it and some pimento spread they use with jalapeno hush puppies (very filling). Definitely gives any other chicken sandwich place a run for their money. It was sooooo good!

First time ordering and it came delivered. It was hot, prepared well and looks like it would be a TEN. Sadly I was disappointed. The mac n cheese is spicy which I love but needed salt and some flavor. I ordered the Nashville hot sandwich-the first bite I couldn't even chew. It was hard and dried out from overcooking. The slaw on top was delicious. The fries were seasoned and slightly sweet and Smokey, different and I appreciated that. The pickles still had the stem, which I couldn't chew..little things like that can sometimes alter the perfection of a dish. A few slight changes and this could have been an exceptional meal!

Doesnt beat hattie b’s but I’m not going to cross state lines for hot chicken so it will suffice. Ordered the tenders. They were very crunchy. And They came with fries. Ordered the Nashville hot flavor. It was hot but not anything deadly. Fries also had a very good flavor too. It is a hole in the wall though. They need a fresh coat of paint or something. Parking is atrocious. There were 5 spaces and the building king of the coop is in is the same as a bbq restaurant. But service was efficient.

This site is rather lackluster. Although there are tables in the rear, I would say it is more of a takeout establishment than a restaurant. The chicken is distinctive and good enough to compensate for the absence. I suppose a second place exists on Howard; perhaps it has a stronger presence. Excellent hot chicken!

One of my favorite chicken restaurants is Gus's Fried Chicken in Memphis TN. This place "King of the Coop" has exceeded my expectations. Hot, Juicy and fantastic Crunch. Strips, sandwiches and much more. Enjoy it on the back patio. Top quality food and large portions. Great staff as well.

Not hot. I love Nashville hot chicken. This place makes good chicken and good sides consistently. The problem is that the chicken's not hot. I've had the coop's fury chicken several times and it's more sweet than hot. It's good fried chicken but I want heat.

This place is sick! I was always in pursuit of finding the best chicken sandwich and this here, by far, the best I ever had. I had many chicken sandwiches in NYC and LA, they definitely were great, but this here at the Coop is just right, nothing wrong about it at all, couldn't find anything to criticize! As much as I loved the sandwich, I must say that I am so happy I don't live really close! Otherwise I would have eaten there probably every couple of days 🤣 the stuff were all cool and welcoming as well. Their southern homemade sweet tea is top shelf kind of stuff. The BEST and most juicy chicken fingers I’ve had in my life. If you’re looking for a sign on where to eat: HERE IT IS! “The Biddy” claims “no heat, all flavor.” Exactly correct - smoky, slightly sweet, pepper. 20-25 min wait on a weekday lunch rush. Worth it!Oh, and the fries. Not sure how these are made and fried but they’re not your normal boring ones. WOW! Hope to make it to Tampa again to come again!!

This place has some REALLY tasty chicken! It was my first time there Saturday, we went as a group... everyone loved it! I have two 12 year old boys and the chicken was a little spicy for them they still loved every bite! I'm a Mac and cheese fan, so I had to try that as well...it was good. The hush puppies had a different taste, a little jalapeno I think. They were quite yummy! I recommend this place. Must Try!!! I had the Nashville hot sandwich, my son had the dirty bird sandwich.

Oh my!!! You can’t go to Tampa and not visit this place!! Order online for pick up or order and wait at their place. Wait time is not long! I had the chicken strips and waffles and I crave it since I’ve been back. I don’t know what they put in their seasoning but it is bloody good! The spice from the chicken and the sweet from the maple syrup is heaven. It’s an explosion of flavours in your mouth that one can only dream of. The chicken was so tender and juicy, the waffles were so soft, everything was delicious!! Love the little place they have. Parking available. A must place to eat from!

We hauled from Brandon so we made sure to call ahead to get our order in, we didn't have to wait much after we arrived. The chicken is definitely top quality, juicy and tender, the breeding is generous but not overpowering, and the fries are excellent! We had an order of midway and an order of the Nashville hot. The midway were delicious while the Nashville hot had just the right amount of kick! I'll just have to try the next level up to get that extra punch! The meal was great, the only thing, very minor, and why it's not five stars, is well, we ordered extra sauce, the label had extra sauce, we paid for it, but it was nowhere to be found, I looked at the order real quick, but I would have had to dig through the chicken to verify, not something too comfortable to do on a togo order in the car, my only complaint of the experience.

The food here is great! I love the spicy chicken tender meal with fries. The chicken tenders are always juicy with a nice crunchy crust. The fries are some of the best I’ve ever had. My only complaints are that they only give you a small cup of sauce (regardless of how many tenders you order) and charge extra for any additional sauces. Their water bottles are also small and overpriced. Overall it’s a great place to visit.

Found this spot one evening, just looking for something different in the area, and was not disappointed! It is a little spot right next to a BBQ place. There are some picnic tables in the back where you can enjoy your food under the shade of the trees and some cute stringed lights! The King Mac sandwich was delicious and messy, piled high with mac and slaw! The seasoned fries were also a plus! I will definitely be returning!

Great food real busy parking is not the best since it does not go all the way around and once you get back there it's really hard to do a turnaround. If your vehicle is big you're going to have to back all the way out once you realize you can't go around. It would be nice to have a sign out there warning customers about this inconvenience but other than that this place is top notch

In the mood for something a little spicy and stopped by for some Nashville Hot chicken. I had the chicken tender sandwich topped with coleslaw and pickles. Hot, spicy, and delicious! Came with a side of crispy coated fries. Place is clean and practicing safe distance. You wait in your car and they text when your order is ready.

I’ve been to this place twice in 4 months. I drove up from Fort Lauderdale to get this sandwich again while stopping at Busch Gardens. First time I had the King Mac, phenomenal. This time got the Nashville hot and just as good as the other. Tenders are fantastic as well. Just wish they would sell a T-shirt. Highly recommended.

The asthetic here is great can go to the bar and watch the games or dine in. The options between westshore pizza and king of the coup selection on top of hand crafted beers makes this a place worth stopping by. I will definitely be coming back to this fine dining establishment.

WOW was that good! Great sandwich, great fries, great service. The only thing I would do differently next time is call my order in before I drive over, just to cut down on the wait. Good fried chicken doesn't come out immediately, but calling ahead can cut that down by ten minutes, easily.

First it should be said, you might go into the BBQ side but it is same building just south of the BBQ place. There is no paper menus and the place has a lot of foot traffic. The sandwiches are HUGE and delicious. I got the biddy seasoning but my husband got the king mac (pictured). Both were delicious. The guy taking the order was very nice and helpful. We will definitely be back. Great price for the food we got. We sat out back on a picnic table and it nice.

WOW JUST WOW!! I’ve had A LOT Of chicken from a lot of different places and this place is off the chain amazing!!!! I will bring everyone I know here! The Nashville hot chicken sandwich is the perfect blend of hot and flavor. The coleslaw is next level good! And the hush puppies were perfect! Way to go King of the Coop! Update: Apparently the food quality and service have gone WAY downhill since they moved, according to reviews on here and on Reddit. That's too bad. Consider yourself warned. old review: Incredible chicken sandwich (I had the Nashville hot King Mac). Also maybe the best fries I've ever had too. You have to try this place. Docking one star because of the awful interior, I understand it was designed for take-out but it's still pretty run down and dingy in there, and could really use a touch of love. Looking forward to seeing the new Florida Ave relocation and updating it's future 5 star review. Edit: docking another star because they don't answer the phone

First impression is the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff! It was a great experience. The fried chicken had an amazing flavor and cooked to perfection. Minor breading which allows for the chicken to truly capture the true flavor profile. The pickles really caught me by surprise and it just pairs perfectly with the chicken.The hush puppies were just seasoned that lives in perfect harmony with their pimento cheese. The fries are so tasty and not overcooked, perfect crunc The coleslaw and mac n cheese were the low points of my visit. I am not a big fan of either, but impossible to win them all. Overall, it was a great experience and will definitely be back! I mean, you got a pescatarian to eat chicken. That's a win! Lol

Best fried chicken I've had in the Tampa bay area so far. The cook the chicken absolutely perfectly, not too greasy, and not dry either. The seasoning gives the meat an incredible flavor. Even the fries are better than most places you'll go to. It's an all or nothing level of heat, you either get no spicy or very spicy so keep that in mind. They also don't sell alcohol here, and don't provide water cups (only bottles for purchase). It can get a little warm in the inside seating, but they have outdoor tables as well that are cooler with the air flow. Will definitely come back many more times. Update 10/2020: They now offer a "Midway" seasoning that's halfway heat. It's still pretty spicy, but very flavorful and now my primary choice when i go.

I'm not a fan of fried chicken. This place however is amazing. The Nashville hot chicken is juice, spicy and full of flavor. Get a sandwich or the tenders, which come with 2 slices of bread anyways. The fries are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. I've heard the Mac and cheese is also fantastic. I particularly love the greens though which are too notch. If there's a line when you come, stand in it. It's worth it.

It feels like the quality has dipped a bit since the move to Flocale from their original location, but it’s still some of the best chicken in Tampa bay. Nice to be able to sit and enjoy their food along with a drink now, though I wish Flocale would just simplify things and switch to only counter service; I’m not sure if anyone would miss the table service.

They food was pretty good. I did not try any of the spicy sauces but the chicken was friend pretty decent. I loved the sauce it was pretty good. For me the Macaroni and cheese was not good I guess because I have pretty high expectations for the dish. The customer service was great. It's not that much seating but they also have seating outside. Also there's not that much parking. I recommend this place for everyone to try .

I was so excited to hear King of the Coop had opened. I showed up and they were packed and had quite a line. Despite the line the food came out quickly. I ordered the Nashville Hot Sandwich with fries and extra sauce. It came in this brown box and opening it was like Christmas morning. The two chicken tenders were to big for the bun so I had one tender with slaw and a pickle on bun and it was amazing. I ate the second tender on it's own and it was also amazing. The fries were fried perfectly, and the seasoning on them were amazing. My only complaint is that they had sweet tea on the menu and the tea was unsweet and you had to make it sweet, that's not okay when you have a fired chicken place. Over all this place is amazing, I'll be back for sure.

Love the smell of a hot new foodie spot!! And the King did not disappoint! Tucked away in Seminole Heights, the usual problem is parking. There are 5 or 6 spots in front otherwise, street parking. The spots are small and awkward, especially if it's high traffic time. It's a smallish location, with a fresh clean look. Bright, with a few tables of four, doesn't leave a lot of room to sit and eat. Knowing that we took ours to go. The food. Fried chicken. You can order 3 tenders or leg or sandwhich. Pick your level of spice from Naked to all the flavor none of the spice to Take the Throne! All meals come with fries and you can order the usual Southern sides. We ordered the tenders with extra pickles and a small Cole slaw. I got the Biddy and my son got Coops Fury (mid-hot). The wait wasn't bad and the had a line. Everyone was super friendly, make sure if you are ordering Togo you let them know. Getting ours, we barely made it to the car before cracking the box for a fry. WOW! Fries are fresh, crunchy, seasoned and delicious. The tenders were sitting crunchy on a piece of potato bread with a yummy dipping sauce. The tenders are crunchy, moist and juicy. They are amazing!! The pickles are brined perfectly with a hint of spicy as the finish. The Cole slaw was fresh, vinegar recipe. It was ok, it lacked the flavor of the rest of the meal. Which is sad. The flavors and freshness of everything else totally makes up for it. Expect this spot to be a new local favorite!! They do have hush puppies and mac & cheese, which I didn't try but I'm sure they are amazing!! I can't wait to go back!! Let me know what you think.

It was my first time here and the staff was super nice and very helpful with the questions we had. The food was just ok, to me. Everything was covered in paprika (not adding much, flavour wise) and my fries were just barely warm and my sandwich was super sloppy to eat and just slapped together but the homemade juices were excellent. Will probably give it another try in the future.

Went here as part of the grow financial promotion, so mind you my food was free. Either way, i'm personally not a fan of fried chicken but i would be lying if i said i didn't enjoy the chicken. It was heavily seasoned (the way i like it), and had a unique taste that i had never had in fried chicken. Although a little heavy, it was still very good. It also came with fries that i believed were seasoned but these were much better than your average french fry in my opinion. They had the crunchy yet soft texture i desire in a fry. The pickles were also a nice little touch on the side.. If i was a bigger fan of fried chicken, i'd definitely see myself coming back.

This place is a must try for foodies in Tampa. Innovative. Big chicken tenders, moist with thick tasty red breading. Not crunchy. Very interesting flavored. Can be a little heavy. I almost ate there two days in a row and I don't live close. I've only tried the flavored, not spicy ones. Sauce for the fries and side pickles also good. A simple menu. Chicken and fries basically. Street-y, dive-y atomosphere adds to the overall experience.

Very limited parking. Circled the block a few times looking for a spot. Inside very small. Almost no room to move around without literally stepping on someone else. Drink station was weird. Have to dig out your own ice from a cooler on the floor which wasn't very sanitary. Drinks tasted like they were all unsweet. We tried all 3. Chicken was ok but surprised they didn't have wings. They only sell tenders and leg quarters. Hush puppies were very good. Homemade pickles and Cole slaw were ok. Saw the restaurant on Instagram and had to check it out for myself. In my opinion it wasn't good enough to make me want to return. Also didn't feel like there was an air conditioning inside.

I've been dying to try this place & I finally had the opportunity to grab lunch here today. I'll start with the good. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich was excellent, the fries were great and plentiful, the sauce they served on the size kicked everything up another notch. Oh, and the service was fast & friendly. The chicken isn't really hot, like habanero pepper hot, it's just got a little heat to it, like cayenne pepper hot but the spice mixture is perfect to me. There are a few things that I feel could make this place even better. First off....the tiny little hamburger bun is just way two small for the tenders, slaw, & pickles. The sandwich essentially disintegrated into the plastic basket after my 1st bite. A large hoagie roll or maybe even a brioche roll would probably be much better suited to hold the generous portion size of the sandwich. Also, when I went to get my soda from the back part of the restaurant, the floor was greasy and slippery. And when I sat down at one of the little tables inside the restaurant, the table was dirty. From what I could tell, because it's an open kitchen, the kitchen was clean. It was a little past opening time and they were slightly busy & getting busier but I really don't know why the floor would be so greasy or the tables not clean. I just think they'd be much better in a different location because the place is small and cramped. I can only imagine the challenge of finding a place to park your car or sit & eat when it gets busy. Overall, I really liked the place and I recommend checking them out if you've never tried hot chicken before.

My only disappointment is those horrible butter pickles - doesn't go at all and I definitely missed the traditional flavor of the dill and the spice. They should change that, or at least give an option

King of the coop is amazing. The mac n cheese comes together with the coleslaw it's a great compliment to the fried chicken. I like it hot so I tried the Nashville hot. Had some heat but I will try hotter next time. Place is always jam packed. Show up late they may be sold out. Happened to me 1st time I tried. Also parking is scarce so be prepared to park on a side street. The way you line up to get your food is from the back so it's a bit awkward but the food is worth it.

Portion sizes are great and prices are reasonable. Friendly staff. Dem pickles? Dem picklesssssss. I’m still daydreaming about them. I tried the habanero spice sauce. Will probably stick to Nashville hot because that spice level was pretty high (although I typically enjoy spicy foods). They apparently run specials all the time (like $5 tenders boxes). ou live in the Tampa Bay area you need to come check this place out. It's no secret that o love good food, hell one look at me and you can tell that easily haha... but this place is amazing. Located in Seminole Heights, this is a new Nashville Hot chicken joint, that is definitely going to leave its mark on the area. While they are not prince's or hatty b's, they are incredibly delicious. I got the King Mac sandwich, which is a Nashville hot chicken tender sandwich topped with king's sauce (their version of comeback sauce), spicy mac and cheese, bread and butter pickles, and coleslaw if you want it. I'm not the biggest fan of coleslaw so I usually opt out of it, plus I wanted to get a real feel for the heat. The heat is spot on...perfect balance of heat and flavor and lingers just long enough to leave your lips with that familiar tingle. Overall, it's a great meal. The last time I was here, they asked my opinion on things, and I brought up the bun size and all and how it wasnt able to hold up to all the food they were giving out...and it seems that they listen to their customers, which is a huge thing for me...they changed the bun which makes the experience even more enjoyable...now they just gotta tackle this whole not having sweet tea thing 😂😂😂

Catfish is fantastic too- we LOVE the new location and have dined in 2x since the move! Different levels of seasonings so you do not have to have it Nashville hot if that’s not your thang. Plenty of seating, casual vibe and a nice covered porch out front if you want to sit out with your doggo. The employees inside were so nice at the register and the ones cleaning tables asked if we needed anything extra and were so nice and polite we noticed :-) Yes parking is busy but that’s life in the city. As a guy coming from london who has very little experience with Nashville hot chicken I was excited to try it this place. I was a little confused with the scale for heat at first so just decided to get the one in the middle for heat as wasn’t so sure how hot it would be. When the food came out it was put into boxes to take out. The chicken wasn’t hot enough for me tbh so if it’s your first time and your used to spicier food I would go above the medium heat level. The chicken was crispy and sweet at the same time, the slaw and pickles were tasty. The fries were seasoned nicely. Would come back. Pros: good flavor, crispy quick service, good customer service, cool aesthetic. Cons: no indoor seating in the chicken shop, wasn’t clear if you could eat in the restaurant next door.

Food is just ok. King sauce taste like a powder that they mixed with water. Apparently they already moved. BEWARE Their website touts old address and new location soon. Placed an online order, they said it would be 35 minutes so I placed the order based on this time frame knowing it would take me 20-25 to get there. 10 minutes after placing the order I received a text saying the food was ready. Great, cold food. Hurry and get going only to arrive at there old location. Person on the phone when I called couldn’t even tell the new address. I’m not from Tampa “down the road a few blocks” doesn’t help me if you don't know North from South.

Food is very good. I got the Nashville hot sandwich and it was delicious; everything about it. I would definitely get it again. However, this location and their is service/cleanliness is dreadful. The girl at the front counter (12/7) acts like she literally hates life. She didn’t acknowledge any customer that came in, just went through the motions and just sat there biting her nails. Gross. Also, it was so hot inside, AC was definitely not working. If that’s how it is when it’s cooler weather then I can’t imagine when it’s summer time. All in all, if you don’t care about customer service and the cleanliness of the restaurant and only care about food then this is your place. Maybe focus on the locations you do have instead of worrying about opening others. Quality over quantity. Just a thought.

Chicken was good but the macaroni threw everything off. The macaroni taste like someone was in the middle of making potato salad and said "let's add cheese". The macaroni looks like it would be good until you bite into it. The macaroni taste like they seasoned it with everything but cheese. I was confused 😕 to say the least cause its looks cheesy. So you really have to register your brain before taking a bite. Cause it looks like macaroni but taste like macaroni salad. Their fried chicken is simply fantastic! It's unlike anything else you can get in Tampa, their sauces are unique and freshly made... you can tell in the taste. Their fries are a revelation! I get the regular seasoned ones and they're savoury and sweet and crispy and delicious. Then you have their self made pickles to top it all off. I definitely recommend. The only issue is the lack of parking, but that's not really their fault. Try this place out!

Tried the Wesley Chapel location as our first time eating at King of the Coop. I'll start by saying it's very easy to order takeout online from their website. My order was ready 15 minutes faster than the original time stated. I ordered the Dirty Bird sandwich with the Nashville Hot sauce. It was amazing! The buns are fresh and are perfect! The bun isn't sliced all the way through, so nothing falls out while you're trying to eat it! Huge plus! The chicken was very tender, moist and sauced perfectly. The Nashville Hot sauce is very flavorful and pretty spicy. Pimento cheese and king sauce adds even more flavor! My wife ordered the same sandwich, but with Biddy sauce instead. She loved it! We also ordered a side of hush puppies and those were good too. Excellent food, we'll be back!

But if you're wanting to cry, coops fury will do the job! Of course you could get the middle ground, Nashville hot. Though they also have no spice options for the kiddos and those with a low tolerance for spice (me a year ago) lol The fries are seasoned to perfection every time and are amazing with some King sauce! We were in town on vacation and decided to stop here after visiting the zoo. The chicken strips were large and 2 was enough for me. We got the Nashville hot which we found to be the right amount of hot. It was flavorful with heat I could feel while not being overwhelming. I was able to eat it without drinking anything and I'm used to sriracha sauce. Pickles were good and paired well with the spice of the chicken. They were a very mild sweet pickle. I wouldn't hesitate to go back if I come back to Tampa. The only complaint I would have is that they didn't have tables and seats for us to eat there.

Just moved to Tampa from Miami and had this place recommended to me by a coworker. I'm a fat boy raised on fried chicken and the sandwich with the Coop's Fury spice is the best spicy chicken sandwich I've had. Its the absolute perfect balance of masochism and taste. My eyes were watering and I was hurting but there was still a great deal of balance between the great flavor and the burn. The fries also held their own. Perfectly doubled fried without much if any grease to the touch. Glad this place is within my delivery range. Wonderful chicken joint. Would definitely recommend.

The tenders are amazing, fries, pickles, and coop sauce are good, but the hush puppies were the worst I’ve ever had. They were overcooked, dry, and pretty flavorless (at least at the Wesley Chapel location). Couldn’t taste any jalapeño or cheddar. Online ordering was convenient, but now all meals are $1 more than what’s posted on their online menu and all other items have a .50 cent markup each. Insanely expensive for a tender meal. Their drink is equally overpriced at $3 for a small to-go cup. They used to provide a large one which was a decent value for the price. It would also be nice if they had an online code for the military discount they offer.

Wow, delicious food. If you order plain, you get regular chicken tenders. If you order mild, medium, hot, very hot - the tenders come with Nashville spice flavor. I really recoend medium spice level as mild was tasty and delicious, but a tiny bit of medium heat really enhanced the flavor more!

This place is BANGING. Hands down the best Nashville chicken in town. I got the “Hen” in Nashville heat level with a side of fries and their signature “Coop Juice” (koolaid & lemonade). The chicken sandwich was incredible. It has the perfect amount of heat, complemented by their signature “King sauce” to balance out all the flavors all on perfectly toasted buns, not to mention it’s a huge sandwich. The fries are one of a kind and always crispy and delicious and perfectly seasoned. Coop juice is essentially nectar of the Gods. They seriously give Chick-fil-A a run for their money. Do yourself a favor and skip Chick-fil-A, and come here instead. Same cost, but you’ll get an out of this world experience that you can here in Tampa.

This place has HANDS DOWN- the best fried chicken sandwiches you will ever have. I know, some strong words, but hear me out- we got two different sandwiches, each had their own distinct flavor. If you want a crazy, messy, very satisfying sandwich, go for the King. If you want something more manageable yet just as amazing in flavor, the dirty bird! Wow, the sauce, the bread, the chicken is super crispy and juicy. The fries are so flavorful with their spices. The staff were nice. There wasn’t a long line when we were there and food came out in good time. Food looked great, but the chicken was tough.The fries were great though! Think BBQ chip flavor on a crispy French fry. My 1.5 year old was serious about not sharing her fries with anyone. Hush puppies were super spicy (a little undercooked), but the pimento cheese is a perfect addition to tame the heat. I would like to believe that I would like the leg quarter better than the tenders that I ordered. I would definitely try it again because it seems like there are a lot of good reviews and Mr. Coop has the drive for success. I hope your business stays booming and tweaks are made over time to really perfect it all! I revised my review and added stars because I ate my leftover chicken the next day and the flavor really came out. I enjoyed it even more on the second day and so did the 1.5 year old. Chicken wasn’t tough on the 2nd day either. I might have just torn into the chicken too quickly while I was at the restaurant and it needed some time to rest instead of practically eating it straight from the fryer. Will be back soon!!

After dining here my boyfriend and I told all of our friends and coworkers about how amazing it was. The chicken was well seasoned and juicy. The fries were perfectly fluffy and crunchy. The macaroni and cheese was so well seasoned and creamy. We went on a Thursday night and it was packed. The owner came by and checked on every table to make sure everyone was enjoying their meals. The dining room is small but they also have outdoor seating. I don’t care if I’d have to sit in the parking lot to eat it. Totally worth trying and the prices are great for the amount of food you receive. I’ve never written a review before, but this food was worth reviewing.

This Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich was incredible. First off, it was 2 sandwiches - no joke. Two top buns and two bottoms and HUGE flavor packed pieces of chicken in between. The slaw on the sandwich was perfect. I opted for greens instead of the fries and they were some of the best collards I've had in my life. I had never tried this place until now but I'll be back. Love their fried chicken, particularly the Nashville hot flavor. They do a great job preparing the food, and the prices are reasonable. I will say their Mac and Cheese has also improved significantly since I first ate there when they opened, and has a decent flavor to it. The chicken, however, has been consistently good since I started eating here. My friend got the Nashville hot sandwich with the tenders tossed in the King's Fury spice, and she was sweating by the end of the meal. I also tasted it and can confirm that it's real spicy, so be prepared and make sure you get a drink of some kind (and maybe get some ice cream from revolution ice cream after you're done). I feel the Nashville hot has just the right amount of kick to it where you don't feel like your lips are on fire. Overall, a great fried chicken joint with good prices and plenty of food to fill you up for most of the day.

The chicken here is always amazing. They have a variety of spice levels to appease folks who aren't really into spicy food. I typically only get the tender basket, however friends of mine also swear by the King Mac. It's cheap, reliably good hot chicken. The chicken tenders were good. We enjoyed the sweet and spicy taste mixed in it. The guests really enjoyed the Lil Biddy and Nashville. The mac and cheese were bland. We should of order more cole slaw for the spicy chicken. I thought it was too vinegary and lacked the creaminess; others enjoyed it tho. We had a few orders of fries, but it arrived soggy. It would of taste great fresh. They should consider using paper bag to prevent that, instead of enclosing it in a box. We had placed an 80 tenders with sides on Thursday afternoon, and on Friday night, the staff informed us they threw away our order 🤦 which delayed our Friday party ☹️ The restaurant should have a better system of keeping track of large orders.

This chicken place is the business!! I got the mild tender box, my hubs got the hot tenders box. We got them for free on veterans days, which was much appreciated. Honestly I wasn't expecting to be impressed. The chicken was so crispy and its like a dry rub, not sauce. It came with a special dipping sauce, on the side. I never like dry rubs, so I was shocked. The coleslaw was ok, fries were good. I just wasn't a fan of the parking lot and we were a little confused with the signage. Thats the only negative!

I have been going to King of the Coop at least once a week since they opened. The food is amazing each and every time! I like my food super spicy, so I always get the Coop's Fury heat level...great flavor to go along with the heat. The tenders are fantastic but I'm absolutely addicted to the catfish! The service is great, they always have a smile and a greeting when you walk in. They give you advice on orders to make sure if you take away the catfish to eat it quickly so it maintains their high quality. The sides are solid and the spice is just right. Got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Crisp breading, spicy, and tender strips. The slaw added a nice sweetness since there was no tomato and the pickles were something special. Got an order of the hush puppies with pimento cheese, it was good as far as hush puppies go. Also the fries that came with the sandwich were above average. THE BAD, the structure is inconvenient for parking, picking up orders, dine in, and their employees. Fortunately they are opening other locations and I will wait for another one to open.

My husband and I really wanted to like this place. All the amazing reviews gave me high hopes, so we made the trek from Brandon to experience what all this hype was about. We had tried some hot chicken places in North Carolina, and we were blown away, so we were excited to try a place in our own state. We placed our order online when we were about 10 minutes out, to time it perfectly so that our food would be ready when we arrived. It tells you on both your confirmation screen on the website, AND the confirmation email, to wait in your car until you receive a text that your order is ready. Our estimated time comes and goes, no text. I checked to make sure I didn't incorrectly enter my number - nope, it was right. After about 10 minutes, I called to check on the status of our order. The woman on the phone said that our order was ready. So why no text? How long would we have waited had I not called? So when I walked in, our order was sitting on the front counter. When I asked the cashier how long it had been sitting there, she said 10 minutes. I told her that we were instructed to wait in the car until we were texted, but never received a text. She didn't seem to care. No apology offered, and an apology goes a long way. I told her I hope our food was still hot, and she said nothing. Fast forward to us eating in the car since the dining room is closed. We ordered my husband's sandwich with no pickles and no slaw - his sandwich had both things on it. They put the potato bread slices on the bottom of everything, so it's too soggy to eat. The macaroni and cheese had a weird, gritty texture. My fries had good flavor but were starting to get soggy. And my biddy chicken tenders? Flavorful alright, but way too much of one spice (probably paprika). And very salty. The best thing about our visit was the sweet tea. We drove away very disappointed, and will not be back.

Came in on a Friday at 6pm for a couple of sandwiches and mac n cheese. It took a little while but everything is hot and fresh, including the mac. The Nashville hot had some heat but it won't melt your face off. Fries were perfect. Edit: came back a month later on a Friday at 6pm. Service was fast, food was better. The hush puppies are crispy on the outside and super soft inside. The pimento cheese is on point. I tried the next level of heat and it was a little bit hotter but still not melt your face off. Also, the portions are big for a good price.

The food is 5/5 stars. The customer experience; however, is a 1/5. I have come here several times, and I’ve never once had a seamless experience. They leave the food off to the side for anyone to pick up. They will often leave small things in the order out. The experience when you walk in the door is also extremely claustrophobic and poorly executed. There is no signage telling customers what to do, where to go, or a line separating pickup customers and new order customers. There have also been instances where the cashier is sitting in the back talking and I’ve had to wait to pick up/pay for my order. I enjoy the food, but not the experience.

Finally! Real Nashville Hot Chicken in Tampa! I have been to a handful of restaurants in the Tampa area claiming to have Nashville hot chicken and they all have been NOTHING like the real thing. This is the real deal. The flavor was great and the long lines moved quickly. The fries were also fantastic. The only difference is that it is toned down from the stuff you find in Nashville. So if you’re used to...say...Medium, make sure you jump up a level or 2 here. If you like the real hot hot stuff I’d recommend going with their hottest level. Overall I was very happy and would recommend this as the ONLY real hot chicken in town.

I must have gone on an off day because I ordered the famous Nashville Hot and it was the most boring chicken sandwich I've ever had. I actually think KFC's Nashville Hot has more flavor. All I "taste" is paprika and chili with a little salt. The b&b pickles are also more like cucumbers realistically and that threw me off completely. Would like to try another sandwich next time but definitely going in with lower expectations. I went in thinking it would be like Bodega flavor and left with disappointment.

Hush puppies were like eating clouds of billowly dough dipped in a pool of delightful homemade pimento cheese. The only negative thing I can say about our experience i, I should have got more delicious sauce! I am not sure who got the soggy chicken and fries tasting like they were under a heat lamp but my only guess could be they didn't come pick it up when they were alerted their meal was done! So good. Fresh fried chicken, amazing pickles, white sauce. What is there not to like? And they're expanding their space to include more seating are and maybe better air conditioning? Note - Be careful with some of the higher heat levels! May be tolerable and enjoyable at the time but... You'll pay for it later... It's Nashville style. The normal Nashville is the safest bet.

They were super packed with it being a beautiful Saturday afternoon, but kept the line and people flowing. The wait was about 30 mins.but every bit worth it. This place is pretty legit Nashville Style hot chicken! We just went to Nashville earlier in the year and had Hattie B's. It's really close to it and just as hot. There's 3 tiers of spiciness and I'm good with "Nashville Hot" tier 1. Can't imagine the other 2 but those who love spicy pain, those would be for you. It's small inside but there are four picnic tables outside in the back. Prices are just about right and the wait after the order want long. Definitely recommend this place.

This is likely the best Nashville Hot Chicken you are going to find in Tampa. My wife and I are both addicted to it at this point. -Small joint with minimal seating and parking can be scarce. But neither of those things really matter. -Service is very quick. Even when they are swamped. -Pricing very affordable especially considering the portion size. For the standard platter, you get 3 hefty chicken tenders and a heaping helping of fries for under $10. Oh, and some pickles! -Both the chicken and the catfish are delicious. Try the hush puppies. Personally, I get the 2nd level of spiciness called Coop's Fury. It is perfect... if you can handle the heat!

This place is great! I've been coming here since shortly after they opened, and I've made attempts to introduce new people to it whenever I can. Your favorite chicken chain is obsolete now. Popeyes? Tried this spot today after hearing the buzz. Clean spot. Not the most welcoming staff but not the worst. My partner and I ordered fish, fries and leg quarters. Seasoning wasn’t bad but nothing compelling. We were disappointed to find that basic condiments you would expect were unavailable like hot sauce or tartar sauce. Also, don’t waste your time buying the Mac and cheese. It went straight to the trash. Definitely an okay spot to try out but probably won’t be back.

Oh my!!! This place is so good. I've had the King Mac every time I have visited this establishment. My wife has also had the King Mac but she switches out the chicken for the fried catfish. Which she says "Damn that's good." I absolutely love there chicken there staff. I'll keep on coming back over and over again every time I'm in the Seminole heights area.

My only complaint is that even with ordering Coop's fury - it wasn't very spicy and they didn't have any hot sauce (that I saw). King of the Coop is a solid new-addition to the Seminole Heights neighborhood. Their chicken quality is good, plenty of meat for the price. Fries are delicious. Sauce is good. Pickles are good. We spent about $20-something dollars for 2 people for a business meeting. My only issue overall is their chicken was a little over-fried which is pretty obvious if you look through any pictures of their food online. Compared to other fried chicken places I have been to in other cities, it doesn't quite match up, but I am not an expert on Nashville hot chicken and will happily admit that. Personally, I feel like the buzz for the place is fever-pitch and that's okay because it is exciting to have a new spot that is trying to change the chicken game and we're finally moving past everyone being overly obsessed with Chick-Fil-A and Publix chicken. Despite long lines and a huge amount of interest, they are knocking out orders fairly consistently and well. I noticed plenty of people coming in and out of the place. The restaurant itself is small so plan accordingly, I think that at the pace they are moving at they will grow quickly. For me, it's not something I'm going to probably be craving on a regular day, but it is something I will tell people to try and give a shot if they're looking for something new and different in Tampa. It's long overdue for this town to have more options in chicken and these guys are really out here trying to change things and I do support that.

Update: my boyfriend was talking about the sandwich he got ALL NIGHT. He insisted we go back today. Tried to call in but they prioritize in person consumers which is totally understandable, so I was on hold and ended up in their parking lot. Totally fine because honestly if I went to sit down and eat I would want to have their attention too. I got to order in the restaurant and the crew was awesome, super personable group. The meal was bomb AF and they graciously included the missing mac from yesterday. We will definitely be back... probably this week to be honest. I’ll start by saying the food is GOOD and I will most definitely go back. I took away a star because I got take out and when I got home (30 mins away) my side of Mac wasn’t in the bag. Bummer. Average Chicken for $9, Catfish was good, but it's not catfish, it's Swai or Pangasius. $7(one piece only) Loved the pickles!! Loved the Sweet Tea!! French Fries are really good, but huge amount. So this is just my personal preference but I like to be served when I'm in a restaurant. I don't like to have to serve myself and bus my own table and you will have to do that. It was very rushed you got to the counter and you really only have a choice of a couple of different items. It seemed like the owner was still training the kids who are doing the cooking....because I heard him saying how to batter the chicken and then fry it. There are only a few tables maybe 8 or so in the entire restaurant . It is very tight. Like some of the other reviews said The chicken was very tasty definitely on the spicy side and the mac and cheese was very good. They give you tons of food but it is pretty pricey. My boyfriend and I decided we would try somewhere else before going back there again.

There’s no flavor beyond the breading and heat. An overnight brine would make this place a THING. Right now, it’s alright if you’re in Seminole Heights. Nothing to brave 275 for.

I got the chicken sandwich with pimento cheese..which I have to say wasn't grandma's pimento cheese so I didn't care for it so much. That's really just me being picky about my pimento cheese. Please note that I have eaten at Gus' in Memphis, Hattie B's in Nashville, ChickNSnack in SC, Maryland's (Augusta & Plant City) among many others. KofCoop is OK. I ordered the leg quarter Nash. Hot. Unfortunately mine was overcooked (better than under!) and I was surprised how little meat was actually under the thick crust. The heat factor was perfect but the flavor was just OK. As others have mentioned, the fries were excellent and the sweet tea was good, but the chicken...just OK.

Just tried King of the Coop tonight and it was amazing. I ordered from Uber Eats and was looking for something new. I didn't want to spend a lot of money since it was just me. I noticed that Uber had recommended KotC as a great value. Let me tell you they did not lie. I got the Nashville Hot sandwich, it was MASSIVE and delicious. Just the right amount of heat with a touch of sweetness from the cole slaw. If you are like me and hate getting skimped on fries, rest assured that wont happen here either. I am glad I discovered King of the Coop tonight and I will be back! Great food + great value = 5 stars from me!

The chicken was good, the hush puppies were ok, my first order of hush puppies came out burned and one of the staff members tried to justify it but made another batch that came out better. The food is awesome. I drive for uber eats and had to pick up an order and the place was mobbed. It smelled so good i had to go back and try it for myself. Parking is horrendous trying to get in and out is a cluster (you know what) BUT the food is fantastic. I got the King Mac nashville hot style and it was out of this world. Either Uber eats and have it delivered or call ahead and have someone run in and get it while someone waits in the car it will be less of a headache. But definitely give it a try I'll be a regular from now on

Fantastic food!! ❤️ Service was ok! It was my first time there, I didn't know exactly how there menu worked with the different levels of spicy so I asked and the cashier replied there right there in front of you! Cooks we're super friendly! Not alot of seating space but definitely yummy food! 😊

Really good food, but lackluster customer service to be honest. Every time I’ve ever got food from here, there has been some issue and they cannot refund you on the spot for whatever item is missing. So be prepared for there to be some issue with your order.
