Drove by this place when thinking about dinner and drinks and boy were we happy we stopped! Has a very low key/dive bar vibe but was a blast and the food was great! Service was quick and staff was friendly. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and we were pleased with everything. We did not get crab or lobster dinners but will be coming back to try it. Highly recommend!!

This place is not a fancy fancy if you choose for dating. It's for local people or hang out for fun at noon. I went for lunch with 1 of my coworker who born and raised in Tampa. He told Crab shack has been here forever over 40 years or even more since he was so little. I got mine crab cake big, crunch outside have a lot of crab meat inside which I think a lot of kids will love this food. Yummm My friend got the whole smoked Mullet fish. All looks good. I will come back.

This is an absolute gem!!!! I would literally eat here every day if I could… seafood is fresh and local… amazing diversity of dishes… frog legs, blue crab, alligator, and the list goes on and on and on - wow!!! Love this place!

I'm not a huge seafood fan, so it would take a little more than just tasty crab for me. It was an enjoyable enough lunch experience, and I have no complaints about the food or the service. But if it weren't for the fact that they have stone crabs, there wasn't anything that will specifically draw us back (apart from its super convenient proximity to the beaches there).

First time here. Found it by chance driving by one day and stopped in tonight. Wow, SO GOOD! It was super busy and when we left, there were still people outside waiting. However, the wait is not long. And everyone that waits outside has drinks and are having a good time. It llooks like a hole in the wall dive from the outside but these seem to always be the best places! Highly recommend!

This is the ultimate place for CRAB! Potato salad is bomb, hush puppies are crisp and perfectly seasoned. The staff and other patrons are extremely friendly. Definitely go for the smothered crab option. The smothered crab made my tastebuds explode. Highly recommend and will be back.

The food was awesome. Very delicious. The wait time was something to be desired. From the time we were seated, to when we got our food, it took about an hour and a half. If you have the time, go for it! The wait staff were fairly attentive, so that was good. I guess good food takes time.

What a great place of you're looking good seafood between the blue crab with butter and garlic sauce to the fried oysters is a must. Would definitely recommend if your looking for a good seafood spot with friendly people and great drinks you can't go wrong here.

Wow this place was amazing!! Great food, amazing service and such a cute environment! Paula was incredible and extremely knowledgeable too. We had soooo many questions about items on the menu, and she knew everything thru and thru. Not to mention she was just the biggest sweetheart ever! The whole team there is great. All the waitress help each other. You can tell they are little family and have a lot of pride in restaurant and food. Here from illinois visiting friends that live in the area and we plan to make this a Go to Spot now.

I am a Fried Clam LOVER and these are some of the best I have ever had. Extremely fresh and crispy. My grandparents got the Fried Clam Sandwich and Daily Catch and said it was some of the best seafood they'd had in years. As we were driving home they told me they can't wait to come visit me in Florida so they can come back (they don't like anything these days so that is a HUGE compliment). Super fun, local spot with extremely welcoming staff. Would 10/10 recommend and would absolutely go back (I already have and I have only lived here for three weeks)!

If you want great Seafood at a fair price, with great service, Crab Shack is the place to go. This old rustic spot has been around a long time. There are many selections, for all tastes. There are items as well if you have dietary restrictions. With that being said. Don't expect anything fancy. And like all great places, they catch on, and soon begin to get very crowded during prime time. I think the owner is doing great, and in a position to expand the dining area if he should so desire. Put it on the bucket list if you haven't been yet.

Great Experience - Country Clubbers Beware ! Meeting friends as a party of four we decided on this place because it was half way between us. Very glad we did. This is a shack as the name implies. Down home not pretentious atmosphere with a terrific menu variety. If you are looking for upscale or yacht club you will not approve. Then there was Paula - she was terrific. Earthy and fun, she helped us navigate the vast menu to zero in on our favorites. We thoroughly enjoyed her. Our food was really good and well prepared. Hail to The Swamp Platter !! We would absolutely return.

New to the area so my mom and daughter wanted to try a new seafood place. I'm not a seafood person so I got blackened chicken breasts (tough on the outside but a little juicy inside) and fries, my mom got the fried shrimp (good) and then my daughter got the crab legs and fries. She was disappointed it wasn't in a bag with the juice and corn like most places. She was happy tho. Workers are nice but the restaurant is very cold.

Great food sold at reasonable prices. The clam strips tasted fresh not frozen. It came with Cole slaw that had nice flavor. I also got the soup which was nice. The soft drinks are free refills. They were sold out of some items.

Waitstaff was phenomenal but I got the Buffalo Chicken sandwich n FF. Nope bad decision. FF tasted stale and were just not good. The Buffalo was not spicy at all and I asked for Hot. Just seemed like the food had sat under a warmer longer than it shld have. Chicken was dry but the overall size of my meal was great. Wish it tasted better tho

I'm a fan and a regular. It's like Cheers. Paula, Jess, Dee and the team are the best! It's that old school Florida, off the highway, close to the water kind of vibe. The servers really seem to tag team and work together extremely well. The service as a result was wonderful. They are friendly, attentive and quick. I really appreciate that because it's a rarity these days. It was very clean and has extremely easy parking. The clam strips were super yum. The batter is perfection. I prefer a slightly juicier clam strip but this was still delish. Oyster stew is what lost the star for me. It was good, but the broth was too bland and the oysters were super sandy or grainy. I should have gone with the clam chowder.

The people in this establishment are very nice from the bartenders to the hostess to the servers even the busboy. The food is just so so. For starters I happen to love potato skins and there's are served with crab meat in addition to bacon and cheese. They were presented on some iceberg lettuce which I found to be a little distracting truthfully. The baked potato part seemed a little underdone and most of the wedges did not contain any crab meat but the ones that did were pretty interesting. For $7.95 I would say this is not a bad deal if the potatoes were cooked better. For my entree, I got the seafood platter or something like that that had scallops and fish and shrimp on a bed of rice. I got mine broiled and I chose a baked potato and a salad with blue cheese dressing as my sides. The salad is nothing more than some iceberg lettuce a couple of strings of onions one slice of tomato and some not so great croutons. The dressing, in my case blue cheese,, was actually great with big chunks of blue cheese it's served on the side in a little plastic cup. Short of that though it's a pretty worthless salad. The baked potato was undercooked But the server did bring me some extra sour cream which was nice. The main entree was fairly decent with a good assortment of shrimp and scallops and about a 3 oz piece of fish. To drink I had a Samuel Adams Boston lager draft which was pretty cheap but it was also a tad bit on the warm side. Overall the place is just okay nothing spectacular.

Well this might be my shortest review.... As it was my own fault for not asking the price. But we looked on line and even called to confirm that they did have all you can eat crab. 30 min the opposite direction we drove from going home to walk thru the door with a big sign stating 74.99 per person for all you can eat crab legs. We did an about face back to the vehicle

Went today 11/5/22 Started with cup of clam chowder and their famous crab claws sautéed. As usual Spectacular. We split the Super Feast. Wow so much food. It was outstanding. Wished we lived closer but worth the trip from Riverview. Highly recommend

Great tasting food, outstanding customer service, great cooks, nice local fishing decor but very clean (not your high end fancy restaurant setting, definitely more local setup, but very nice and friendly). Highly recommend for a family meal outing or just by yourself.

Cute side of the road shack with good service, reasonably priced. However all the food is over cooked. Shimp is mushy. Clams are very hard to chew. Pasta didn't have much flavor. Frog was good.

Crab (Blue, Dungeness and Snow) were good. The Grouper nuggets were sensational. Went back just for the nuggets! Third visit this trip. Amanda and Anthony have superb fast efficient service. Our new favorite (tied with grouper nuggets and largest fish sandwich) are the Crab Shack Blue Crab claws. We will for sure go back every time we visit Tampa or St Petersburg.

We visited Crab Shack while visiting family in Florida. We were very happy with our meals. The crab was wonderful! Only down side was they were out of blue crab, but otherwise it was great!! I highly recommend giving them a try if you're in the area.

Went with the family, we were sat right away, we had arrived around 3:30 p.m. Party of 7. Ordered drinks and appetizers, no smoked fish spread (one of our favprites) but there was Calamari, Gator Bites, and Fried and Sautéed BLue Crab Claws. Everything was Delish. Dinner, we all ordered something different, 6 steamed Blue Crab, healthy crabs, Shrimp Scampi was demolished, Soft shell Crab sand, Grouper Cheeks, Fried Fisherman platter, Smoked Mullet, Admirals platter. Everything was fresh and delicious. Server's were all working together and Happy. Excellent service. Only regret was not ordering the "Corvina Dinner" one of best items on the menu.

Great experience! The food was really good. They even reheated my crab legs because I waited too long to eat them and they got cold. Great customer service. Good parking. Clean restrooms. Shorter wait time to get seated than our favorite place on the beach. Portions were good healthy sized.

The oysters were good size and price, the Florida wildlife sampler was an experience for sure. Ultimately, anything deep fried is typically good. The beer selection was mediocre. I reckon that I’m not particularly enthusiastic about cooked seafood but that shouldn’t keep you from enjoying all the various, edible critters Florida has to offer.

This place was awesome. Plenty of food for the price. I was stuffed. Got the crab sampler, snow crab legs, Dungeness, there was plenty. Cole slaw and potatoe salad is home made and boy were they good. Its just a shack, perfect for eating seafood. Staff was helpful and very nice. I will be coming back!

Absolutely highly recommend! Gator meat was fried to perfection! Never had scallops before and they are SO GOOD HERE! Them Maryland crab cakes are fiiiiiireee!!!! Top notch, I plan to order more before I leave the city. (I'm here visiting for my anniversary from GA) fries are like stringy fries, tasteless but add some salt and pepper and you'll be fine, their shrimp and fish is good too. Now their daiquiris are too expensive and taste like NO alcohol is in it (not worth it to me) food IS THE BEST I HAD that I went back and bought more right before heading back to GA Bought a shirt as a souvenir. If I ever visit Tampa again I will Absolutely plan to visit again.

This place looks like a bloody dump from the outside. I would have never stopped to try anything in it but my older friend, and coworker, judgement prevailed, overriding my “go by the looks” first impression. Lad, was I glad! The food was deliciously tasty, the service second to none, overall, a blast. Don’t let the appearances deceive you and give it a try. I promise, you will not be disappointed.

Great hole in the wall sea food joint. Prices are pretty good and seafood was really fresh. Options are pretty standard fried fare with a few good non-fried options. The oysters were my favorite, crab cake huge but just decent tasting. Service was a bit gruff but fast. I will definitely be back next time I’m kayaking at Whedon

Childhood favorite! Crab Shack is a Tampa/St. Pete local seafood spot off Gandy Blvd. located on the St. Pete side of the Gandy bridge. I ordered steamed oysters as my starter which were DELIGHTFUL & DELICIOUS! I also order the shrimp alfredo which was very disappointing. The alfredo sauce was watery, tasteless, the shrimp were fairly small and appeared boiled. Also enjoyed a pina colada or two. Overall I enjoyed the experience and will definitely return. Not sure I'll have the white sauce again but so many other options are available to try and enjoy.

Staff was very courteous & knowledgeable. The king crab was excellent; full of tender meat & easy to crack. The pies (Reece's & Key Lime) were sweet & smooth. Prices were decent. The decor is neat & definitely has the coastal feel. Restaurant & bathroom was clean & neat. Some things, specifically the seating, could use upgrading as they are worn down & broken/ripped. Lunch was pleasant & employable.

Wonderful gem of a place. When ever my husband and I travel to this area we have to come here ! We literally came straight from the beach and it was such a relaxed atmosphere. This looked like a little hole in the wall and I was so excited because those are often the best places that have amazing food... The service definitely lacked here tonight and with all the seafood restaurants in this area there is nothing extraordinary to write about... Our bill tonight was $100 for 3 and not one of us left full or happy... The waitress was told about a gluten allergy and thought it was okay to just remove bread from the plate that was served with the mussels... She left dirty plates from another table on our table while she went to process our credit cards... Drink refills didn't happen until asked..

The is a fun small restaurant with really good seafood. The stone crab dinner fo $25 is fantastic with one pound of crabs claws and fries or rice salad or a large portion of cole slaw. Great dinner. The blue crab dinner looked great with huge crabs. Great bar. We really enjoyed our visit off Gandy and 92. Plenty of parking out back and on the sides. Easy to find.

I came here on a whim on a Saturday afternoon after a friend of mine said their snow crab is delicious. I was here around 2 pm and there wasn’t any wait. It's a small location with the inside feel of a small town pub. My waitress, Tiff was very attentive and did a great job with suggestions, since it was my first time. I opted for a 1.5 lbs of snow crab, their coleslaw and French fries with Cajun seasoning. My order was perfect to. Get me content and not over full. Like I could go run or play basketball or go on a roller coaster and I’d be fine. On to the food: Snow crabs - 5/5. Very fresh and perfectly made. I highly recommend asking a waitress to show you the “proper way” of consuming crabs so you get big chunks of meat and none gets wastes! Service - 5/5. The waitress was incredibly friendly and helpful. My drink never finished as she always kept me fully refilled. Fries - 3/5. Really nothing to write home about. Coleslaw - 4/5. It was more saucy than actually fresh cut coleslaw. But it was flavorful, I personally prefer ones that are dryer. The crabs were delicious and the service was spectacular. The sides aren’t stellar and the bill can get pricey for those wanting to hav crab (market price based on weight). Overall a 4/5. Although the place may seem casual, the bill was nothing but. The entire meal cost me $38 before taxes. So if you’re expecting a cheap bill, this place isn’t for you. Although the quality of the crab is top notch, so don’t let the humble looking structure make you think otherwise. Overall this is a great casual place in Tampa Bay to enjoy some very fresh and delicious crab! I would recommend stopping by and trying it out whether you’re visiting or a Florida resident.

Just how I remembered it! I had to order the old favorites. Oyster shooters, Jumbo cheese sticks, and some fried grouper cheeks. Lots of seafood and something for everyone. Great food and drink specials and worth the drive!

This is a Crab Shack that's been around for a long time with good reason. My wife came to this place when she was a kid with her parents. She couldn't wait to take us here. We were not disappointed. Food tasted fresh and delicious. This is an old school restaurant/bar where locals dine also. Well worth the visit and remember it's a local place not a fancy chain place.

Great service, good food except the tuna. It was edible but not the quality I’m used to. Everything else however was great and our drinks were refilled promptly.

I didn't even get to eat here, but will definitely be coming back to try it when I get a chance. Was out for a long bike ride in the heat and started to cramp up around the 90km mark. I dropped in front of Crab Shack to stretch out, and Dominic kindly came out to check on me, offer ice water, and asked if there was anything else he could do to help. If this show of kindness is a reflection of how well Dominic's customers are treated, then Crab Shack is more than deserving of a 5 star review.

It's the best quaint authentic Shack Style restaurant that was built in the 40s. A meal going to cost you around 15 bucks and it's more food than you can probably handle in your life. Worth every penny. Huge portions. You can even get a whole fish!!!!

The bartenders, Jessica and Paula did an outstanding job. Had the Dungeness Crab was wonderful. Also had the calamari, Wisconsin cheese curds and the garlic butter peel and eat shrimp ,all were excellent.The oysters were soo fresh and juicy can not recommend more!

I am vacationing in treasure island and have not been impressed with the quality of food for the top dollar prices. So I chose to adventure out to st Petersburg in search of some excellent crab options. Well this is where I landed and I must say they exceeded my expectations! I had more food for $30 than I got for $50 on the beach. I had better and timely service and I even had a knowledgeable waitress. This is the place to be!

I was really impressed with this restaurant. Over for the hockey games this weekend and gave the place a try Friday night. Loved it. So wife wanted to eat there again tonight. Had the snapper that the waitress suggested and it was the best I've ever had. Casual atmosphere and friendly people. Ask for Rose - best waitress anywhere! I highly recommend this place!

A cool hole in the wall that serves fresh seafood and fish. It's a bit small in there so at busy times there might be a short wait, they have picnic tables in the back room so on occasion you wind up eating "Family Style" and make some new friends. My go to meal here is the shrimp dinner and my husband's is the fish dinner. Monday is "All you can eat fish" night, you only get one serving of fries and slaw or salad, but the fish is unlimited all for under $10. Meatless Monday on the cheap!!! The service is always quick and a happy staff. Don't pass this place by!

The service was great but that food was awesome. We had looked all over the place for some crab legs that's all we wanted were some crab legs. My friends came from Missouri and we had a girls trip. Way it's been a few days in Naples and we were going to pass a grill and we stopped here to eat the food was great the service was pretty quick. The staff was kind of courteous. The waiter and waitresses are very good at their job and they earn their tips that's for sure. Will always make sure we stop by because the food was great.

Food was very good. We had fried scallops appetizer, which didn't even need dipping sauce. We also had a Big Fish sandwich, which we split. It was very tasty without being overly breaded. A great little place for a casual dining experience.

Get down, get dirty....and love the food. You don’t go to a crab shack for the looks and the cloth napkins, you go for some delicious crabs... this is the place. It was messy, but the food was great. Had the sampler with the blue crab, snow crabs and Dungeness crab, yummy!!! There was a side of rice, forgot to eat that ;) The service - excellent. Loved the folks there

While the food here was largely tasty, for the prices the portions left much to be desired. Also, some of the wait staff wasn't do friendly and seemed super unhappy to be at work. We left a generous tip nonetheless but there could be improvements. Really enjoyed the clam chowder but the oyster stew was actually not amazing and I had to add salt to make it work. Would come back if could take advantage of dining special.

This place is a good, hole in the wall type seafood restaurant. Good sized portions, and the food is tasty. I think the pricing is fair, but not great for what you get. Everyone in my party had various fish options, which I would recommend. I got the shrimp and chicken, and the chicken was a bit dry. They were also out of clams, which were supposed to be in dishes 2 people ordered, and they delivered the dishes without the clams and just said nothing about them being out until we asked. Overall we will come here again as an occasional stop, but don't plan to be regular customers as the value just isn't quite good enough.

This is a great little local restaurant. There are lots of staple seafood dishes to choose from, with crab being the star on the menu of course. Sides like slaw and fries finish your meal and they are excellent. Don't forget to get a piece of peanut butter pie to finish your meal. It's amazing.

Friends took us to this "new to us" restaurant for a birthday celebration. Its homey inside, very casual. The service was exceptional, especially considering the place was packed and there wasn't a lot of wait staff. Our waitress was attentive, friendly and very quick about bringing our food plus anything else we asked for. I ordered the crab and it was outstanding. I am rather picky about my crab, tired of mediocre crab being served at many restaurants. Mine was fresh, not soggy or over salted, and easy to break open. Cooked perfectly. The sides were amazing as well. This will be my go to place for crab from now on. Loved the casual, relaxing atmosphere as well. This is an incredible variety of seafood on the menu as well. Something for everyone.

First , no lobster told haven't had it for awhile changed that upto week and a half when I mentioned I made the trip specifically for the sandwich. Even checked facebook and website but manager said I should have called.🤔 Ordered crab cake sandwich it was mushy and barely warm. They later offered to take it and warm it up but it had lettuce, tomato, onion and sauce so I said no it would be a mess. Did not offer to make another one. Spent over $70 and expected more. Waitress was nice but didn't check back but hostess did and wasn't very pleasant until I brought it to the attention of our waitress. Great French fries though. A shame because I have been there before and this was a special outing for a friend and she had crab cakes too.

The crab shack is a nice cozy little restaurant. Its not very big but the food is good at a reasonable price. I had the grouper sandwich and blackened fish and both were well prepared and tasted great. The service is very good and all in all a pleasure to eat there. The reasons I did not give them a five are 1: its a little too small for me. 2: the menu is ok but some food on the menu is over priced. 3: Its a bit out of the way. 4: it has limited parking. Please do not be discouraged to go there after all the food is good. Cheers

A no-nonsense crab shack serving up the best quality seafood in town! While the Crab Shack is certainly divey and not much to look at from the outside (or the inside for that matter), the crab legs and other seafood is worth a stop in. Everything is fresh and perfectly cooked, probably scooped out of the bay just out back. Coming straight from the beach, we fit right in with our flip flops, sunscreen, and still wet swimming suits. The place was pretty full with locals (cuz what tourist would be able to find this spot) and service was friendly, if also a bit no-nonsense. As a northerner, I needed some extra help from my local Tampa Bay wife to figure out what to order and how to eat it, but the crab I had was delicious and rounded off a great day at the beach in St. Pete. Don't pass up on the Crab Shack!

This place has all you can eat crab legs for 50 bucks per person. Sounds expensive but that is a really good deal the crab legs are snow crab and they are very tasty. I have not tried anything else on the menu as I have only been one time but my wife and I definitely would return for the all you can eat snow crab legs again. This deal Is only available specific nights of the week call ahead of time to be sure it's still an option.

This restaurant has been a seafood favorite of mine for 30 odd years. I had the softshell crab. Yum! Employees are so helpful and friendly. The prices have gone up but so has their overhead. For crab, this is a great place to go. They have multiple options for crab and offer other fresh fish and shrimp. The non-crab options can typically be broiled, fried, or blackened. Since this is a seafood restaurant, prices are around $6 - $12 for appetizers and $12 to $30 for entrees. We've had crab, shrimp, and fish, and enjoyed it all. I probably wouldn't order the you peel shrimp again because they didn't taste wonderful (no, it's not because I don't want to peel them; I enjoy peeling shrimp at cajun boil restaurants). The portion sizes are large and worth the money charged. When they are busy, they try to join smaller parties together at a table to get people in and out quicker. That worked great for my wife and I and I was glad to see a restaurant that is willing to go the extra step to help people (and sitting with other people is not required when busy, but it is an option). I look forward to the next time I visit Crab Shack.

Colin made us feel welcome as soon as we bellied up to the bar. He made excellent food recommendations. Everything was fresh, cooked to perfection and very reasonable prices. Other people at the restaurant were very friendly and made suggestions on what to see and do. Not your typical bar and grill. The people here make it worth the stop. Two thumbs up!

Local seafood restaurant with offerings for land lovers. We went with our family to celebrate our anniversary. Fresh oysters were excellent as were the fried shrimp and scallops. Daughter ordered chicken parmesan with white sauce.....huge portion. Daughter's boyfriend ordered philly cheese steak...ate the entire sandwich! We love Crab Shack!

This place is simple but delicious. You can guarantee that the food is fresh and is prepared with care. The staff is very responsive and friendly. Just be prepared: 1) it's small and usually crowded to where you could wind up sitting with other families... which is fine. 2) wear a jacket if you end up sitting in the sun room. The AC works really well in there. 3) be ready to stuff your FACE!

This is one of those places you could easily miss, just drive by without a thought, just a collection of brightly painted sheds. But, if you did, you'd be missing out on some great food. We had a plate of delicious oysters, served simply with a little horseradish and cocktail sauce, not briny or gritty, just perfect. And the blue crab, so very fresh, served with a scattering of garlic and clarified butter with some dipping sauces on the side. They also have a full menu of fried and broiled seafood along with smoked fish for those who prefer their their food a little less of a challenge to get at.

I love this little dump! It has a hole-in-the-wall feel that reminds me of the seafood shacks I grew up with in Maryland. I got a burger (yeah, I know, seafood place, but a hankering is a hankering and I did what I had to do) and it was really freaking good! SO got some oysters and the fried seafood platter and he said they were great! He loves oysters and is pretty particular about them, and he said these were excellent. We're going back so I can erase the shame of not ordering seafood at a seafood shack.

My boyfriend and I visited this place on the first day they reopened at 25% post quarantine. We shared the “Swamp Platter” which was not bad (So much food) but I really enjoyed the fried shrimp 🍤 . The servers were all super nice, the tables were clearly marked to keep with CDC guidelines and the GM even came by to welcome us. We will definitely be back!

Atmosphere, value, quality... Amazing. Sat at the bar today and had the Crab Sampler and the amazing Cajun shrimp. Unfortunately they were out of Blue Crabs, but they doubled up on my snow crabs. The crabs were delicious. The rice was small in proportion and the fries... well lets just say I love fries, but didn't eat them. Unless you like rock hard fries. Why not 5 stars? Because the server behind the bar was about as enthusiastic as a rock. I get it, your not happy, but can you at least pretend that you like your job... please... she was very pretty, I have to give her that. Anyway. If you like seafood; this is the spot you've been looking for. I definitely will go back. I hope the bartender is in a better mood or doesn't hold this review against me.

Came on a Monday night and got the fish special. The fish was cooked perfectly but tastes like air. There was no seasoning on the fish at all. The environment is loud, the tables are really close to each other. It's literally a shack and that's the one thing I really loved about it. Add more seasoning to the seafood and the place would be 5 stars in my book. Other than that, it was a good place to go on a Monday night.

Love the internet. Landed in St Pete's from cold Michigan. Needed quality seafood and beer in a casual setting. Googled for seafood joints and this came up. I never would have found it otherwise, and I doubt I would have stopped even if I did. What a wonderful bar. Paula took care of me and handled all my food choices. I am no stranger to pricey restaurants, but this joint serves seafood at a tenth of the cost and all of the quality. Worth a stop for sure.

I visit this place every time I go to Tampa... the trip isn't complete if I don't. This amazing little restaurant is one you'd just cruise by if you didn't know any better. It has some of the freshest seafood I've ever had! My family and I visited it recently and all I can say is DELICIOUS!!! Their wings are tender, tater skins are spectacular, and the shrimp and fish is great! Everything is always served hot, fresh, and on time. Excellent service is consistent and always happens. To anyone who gave this great restaurant a negative review, I have been going there for as long as I can remember and have never been disappointed; don't be afraid to give things a second chance. :)

My family and I have been there twice and it Is the real deal when it comes to fresh great seafood. The all you can eat fried fish on Mondays is great and their oysters are amazing. Out waitress Camila is super sweet and gives outstanding service. We definitely look forward to returning.

The food was good but the waitress, no. She never said you welcome, she questioned anything we ordered, and at the end she said a racist joke about our card not declining/so we won’t be washing dishes after all... like she was surprised. We were the only black people there btw, not one customer nor staff. Also, the restaurant needs to be cleaner and it seems funny when we walked in, we almost left. Should of walked right back out.

Couldn't seat our party of 10 at the same table after a previous phone call assuring us they would not have a problem. They seated 6 of us, then it was 10 minutes before they seated the other 4 at a table close by. Competent server, drinks were the usual, 2 clam strip appetizers were served warm, and not cooked well enough for my taste. The oysters on half shell were deemed good, crab legs adequate, chicken and fish was breaded nicely, food was served warm, not hot. My baked potato had seen the warmer for awhile, didn't melt the butter or sour cream. All in all, a marginal meal that I won't hurry back again.

This is a small hidden gem of a place. I often eat out solo and usually sit at the bar. Colin and Jessica are wonderful bartenders and made me feel right at home. The steamed blue crabs were delicious and the clams were very tender and NOT chewy. The fries are skinny, crispy, and hot. Yum! The fish dip is amazing and smoked fresh on the premises. This little place has amazing food and is so unassuming. The manager is also very nice. Will definitely keep the "Crab Shack" on my list as one of my favorite seafood "go to" places. It's been 15 years since I have been here. It's still great. I'm not a big fried seafood fan, but there is only one thing that you want to order here - the "feast". It's huge, you'll need help eating it but it's super fresh, and the crab cake with it is worth the price of admission!!!

Ate there one time after who knows how many times driving past. The food was incredible and the service was good, too.Headed to St. Pete in 2 weeks, will definitely eat there at least once. The fish, shrimp, scallops and fries are all top notch!! Wish they had one across the street but that might be asking a bit much in rural Indiana. Needless to say, we stopped there TWICE before heading back home (the second time was on our way out and both days were just as fantastic as the previous trips. if you don't eat at the Crab Shack Restaurant, you are cheating yourself out of some amazing food at a very affordable price. Heading down again in February and can guarantee that, unless they are closed, that we will be eating there at least twice during our stay. I love having a go to restaurant 1100 miles from home that I know will be top notch EVERY TIME. Keep up the great work folks!!

I give this five stars because it's a Crab Shack and I love Crabs and Seafood. Yes, it's a crab shack and don't look for anything fancy, because this restaurant been around for years and it keeps that old Florida Restaurant look. There is plenty of seating, with some booths and some type of pic nick tables in the back. I always go there because they serve Blue Crabs, and my wife enjoys many several choices of sea food. Their seafood is mostly fresh. The oysters on the half shell are shucked good and cold. Many specials to choose from. The service is good and staff are friendly.

Wow, wow, and wow. We were hanging out at Gandy then came here to eat. You have to try the Deviled Crab Claws. They come swimming in butter and the flavor is unlike anything I've eaten before. The Gator sausage is also delicious. I'd never eaten Gator before. Those two starters, then 3 adults split the Super Shack Dinner, which is a little of everything fried - cod, shrimp, scallops, clams, and Maryland crab cake. Everything was so good and it was plenty of food. Fried stuff is best eaten fresh, so try the Super Shack, split it with friends so you leave room for Dairy Joy on the way back to Tampa!!

This little unassuming restaurant on the side of US 92 is a reminder to me of "old time" FL! The food isn't overly fancy in presentation, but oh boy! Is it ever delicious! The price is moderate, and the portions are more than adequate... You won't leave hungry! I personally love their made in house mullet spread... yum! And their sauteed scallops are served over a bed of yellow rice that is perfect... and then it is all accompanied by their delicious cole slaw! I didn't have any, but the ladies seated behind us were RAVING about their Key Lime pie... I would highly recommend this restaurant for a casual, tasty and not too pricey lunch or dinner!!

A family favorite for years; I rate the Crab Shack highly because the food was so good and the waitress, Rose, was excellent. This is a rustic, laid back atmosphere. Coming here from Kansas we were all about fresh seafood. This place has daily specials on crab and it's a hot spot for the locals. I'm allergic to all shellfish, so I had a burger which was just okay, but what do you expect when you go to a Crab Shack, huh? My husband loves seafood and he loves this place. Since he only gets shellfish when we eat out, we go here often. The prices are reasonable and shellfish are done well. It does get crazy crowded, so either go early or later on the weekends or be prepared to wait.

This is a nice little spot. The name should tell you that its an old Florida style seafood dive so don't expect anything fancy, but the food was good and the service was quick and friendly. Their fish is fresh and portions/prices are great. Coleslaw is over mayonnaised, however, and the tartar sauce lacks pickles and seasoning (maybe they got a great deal on mayo?). I was also looking for some more local catch / specials. Recommended for a quick seafood bite, but far from perfect.

Our waitress Daisy was super nice and suggested great dishes for dinner, the restaurant is what it says it is, a shack but it's has the best fisherman's atmosphere. Middle-of-the-road seafood place. Way too pricey for the meal. The dining experience was a little underwhelming- but it depends on your mood. Perfect for a group of friends. Not to fond of the seating... where you share your table AND your condiments with others. I was overwhelmed by the noise and not how crowded it was. The food was uninspired...😐. The service , however, was very good and the staff was attentive enough. The decore was poor. Again I must stress if you want a group of friends and just to have a little fun, this may be the spot for you. Just don't expect anything too great.

What a great place to grab dinner with friends! Very easy going atmosphere and delicious seafood. Renee was our server and she was excellent, attentive, and kind. We had a party of five and everyone raved about there food from the appetizers of oysters and crab potato skins to the main entrees of seafood platters, soft-shell crab, and crab legs. A long time restaurant winner nestled in between South Tampa and Saint Petersburg.Family owned and operated since 1967. I've been coming here since I was a child. I wish they would open one in South Tampa. It's always worth the drive. The staff is professional, and personable as well as hard-working. You can tell.they enjoy what they're doing. Always a pleasure never a disappointment. I couldn't imagine somebody not giving 5 stars to a restaurant like this . I go out to many restaurants and I have worked in the restaurant business and I know what's good. The atmosphere is comprised of professionals, families, and people from all walks of life everyone is invited. Very nice clientele.

Went for the Oyster stew but got the stone crab instead. Waitress actually downplayed the oyster stew, and I'd been wanting to try the stone crab since moving here. Staff was friendly but I had to ask for a couple of things that were forgotten. Food was good but not outstanding. Make sure you request the crab shells cracked, I cut my hand on one!

Sometimes its not about how the place looks like but how Good of a service you're getting. Never been here before, I just walked in and was surprised by their prices, their menu, food & service. Lots of seafood to choose from. Tons of specials also.The food was Amazing. 5 stars.

I searched for fresh or local seafood near Gandy, asked a friend and came up with Crab Shack. The fried whole Corvina Fish was delicious and crispy. I was also lucky to catch them during stone crab season and got some of those. My friend sent me for oyster shooters in beer, but i didn't check on that. The place was clean. It would've been lovely had it been on the water, but i just stopped along the Gandy to dip my toes.

We travel to Florida once or twice a year. We found this place on our last trip. The building is very deceptive. The service here and the atmosphere are excellent. The crab claws are great! We now look forward to coming here, even if it means a few hours of driving out of our way. It is worth the drive.

This is an authentic old Florida seafood joint. The decor is real kitchy and the floor is uneven. The meals and appetizers simply taste good. The portions sometimes require a take home box. Always good oysters and fresh boiled shrimp. Snappy servers and cold pitchers of beer. 99 times out of 100 you will have a good meal in a dining room full of others who enjoy value and tasty seafood.

You can't go wrong at the Shack! Their fish is really fresh, our neighbors love the oysters and whole cooked fish. My wife and I really love the shack fish fingers, shack fish dinner, and breaded shrimp. The breaded shrimp are awesome! I know it sounds really plain, but go for the salad when they ask you for salad or cole slaw, even if cole slaw is your thing. Also make sure you get the house dressing with it. It isn't the wildest salad you will have ever seen but it will have some unexpectedly great flavor with their house dressing. The Shack has that dive bar feel, really hole in the wall local place to go to. It will be busy during peak hours but they turn around tables quick. If you're seated in their main dining area and it's just a couple of you, don't be shy when they seat another couple next to you and enjoy the experience. Unless the other couple smells, that could be bad... but you will get that family atmosphere which is great. Service has always been fast and on point. Every server we have had made sure your cup is full and your order comes out pretty quick. We haven't had a mix up yet and we have been there most likely 10+ times.

There is no dish like crab shacks Smoked mullet !!! They have the best seafood around.. never had a bad meal in decades of going there. We had to go right back two days later I had to get another smoked mullet bake it again in your oven it’s even better the next day. Four stars because the restaurant has discontinued public access to their guest Wi-Fi. The manager says their Wi-Fi was hacked and credit card information was stolen, and doesn't seem to know how it happened. I showed her the guest WiFi SSID was still broadcasting and if she expected it to be off, they need to review the router settings. Also, I expected the issue came through the primary Wifi and not the Guest band, since Guest bands are normally locked out from seeing or connecting to any other network devices. I paid cash and suggest you do the same until Crab Shack fixes it

For my 1st time at the Crab Shack I must say I was confused with the pricing on the snow crabs & the other similar choices. It felt small once inside & hardly had room for eight on their biggest table. 3 out of 6 ordered some type of crabs & my legs just happened to come out the back cold. This is our GO-TO place in St. Pete for crab legs. It's divey (hello, it's called the Crab Shack), and the location is nowhere convenient, but we love it all the same. It's the kinda place where the townies go, it hasn't been renovated in, well probably ever, and a lot of the seating inside is benches and picnic tables with clear laminated tops covering local advertising from the 80s probably. But the food is delicious and reasonably priced. You'll easily pay $10 more for the same crab at Crabby Bill's and likely get some soggy crab legs. They have all you can eat crab leg nights and something for everyone on their menu. We keep coming back and it's the first place we recommend to tourists.

What a great dinner. Good pub, tavern setting. Had snow crab, blue crab and dungeness crab plate and will say its the meatiest I've had in years. Recommended off the beaten track. Worth the trip.

If you want a nice laid back atmosphere with a stocked bar and seafood that's fresh, cooked well and full of flavor this is the place to come to. My taste buds are doing the happy dance.

I wish I was rich enough to afford crab legs, because this place probably has the most accurate and fresh stock of crab in the area. They make a really good fish sandwich for guys like me. Place was pretty warm though, it's like a little shack with benches inside and has like tarps for windows or something. Cozy.

Thick New England clam chowder, crab cakes filled with crab not filler and fried oysters that is tender inside and a crispy outer coating. Worth a stop at this clearly local eatery. Ask for sweet tea.

My friend and I came here to eat lunch today and kill some time before heading to the airport for our flight back to Ohio. We travel aaaalll over for work and have a major preference for seafood for food choice. This is one of the best places we've had. U-peel shrimp, steamed green back mussels, fresh shocked oysters, steamed scallops, king crab, snow crab... we tried all of what we deemed the most important parts of the menu and were absolutely not disappointed, it was so good! We adored our waitress, she was attentive and friendly. It was nice to chat about the tattoo convention with her, I'm terrible with names but she has a full arm sleeve and we could actually have a relatable conversation. All around great service, I hope we travel back this way for the show again next year so I can come back!

This place is great for a quick snack or a good meal it has great sea food and it gets sold out quick so get their early. The service is great and they are really nice you might wait some time for your food but the wait is worth it for the delicious food. I recommend it and it doesn't only have sea food it has chicken pastas, chicken wings and other non-sea food related food. My experience was great I rate it 20 out of 10.👍

Great food and atmosphere. Don't let the old decor throw you off-- the food is definitely seasoned well, spicy food is spicy, and waitstaff is very cool. Plus it doesn't matter how old you are (24, 27, 29 haha) the early bird dinner is soooo good! Also keto friendly!

On the plus side, they have gator and frog legs. On The Not So plus side, the food was mostly just eh. Wasn't necessarily bad per se, but it definitely wasn't the best food that I ever had either. So, all in all I would say if you happen to be heading by it sure stop for a meal. But I wouldn't make a big trip out of my way to get there.

Love this little place. It's pretty cramped inside and needs some updating but its has a great local atmosphere. They have a variety of crab to choose from along with other great seafood choices. We always get a dozen blue crab and a pitcher of beer!

Awesome! Chicken parm is huge be prepared to take half home. The "all you can eat" fish fry was great too! Rose, our waitress, was the cherry on top. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and treated us like family and I am partial to waiters and waitresses who choose to get to know me, my kids, and my family vs one that just does the bare minimum. So if you like good food, laid back atmosphere, and friendly staff then this place is it! Sorry didnt get any pics this time I was so emersed in the experience lol.

The seafood here is actually pretty good. Coming from South Louisiana & South Mississippi where spectacular seafood is abundant, it's actually difficult to find good seafood here though we're on the Gulf. However, the building to this place is a dump & it smells gross, especially by the bathrooms! I'm literally afraid to see what the kitchen looks like! You would think they would do some improvements somewhere. I ordered crab legs, which were delicious, but when our not-so-nice server picked up my plate to remove it she spilled my unused butter all down my legs & on my shoes. She never apologised nor said anything about it but watched as I scrambled to get it cleaned up. That's why I'm giving this place 3 stars which I think is generous.

Atmosphere was really nice for a first time visit . Ordered oysters and crab legs . The crab legs were cooked perfectly just too salty . Other than that that the service was great . All servers help each other out and constantly looking for full buckets to dump the shells . Definitely would come back lots of fun !!! Will be returning !!!
