So our waitress was great. It took awhile to get the food but it was good. A bit pricey and be sure to ask the price on menu items listed as market price. My husbands platter was $40 something. My sons shrimp pasta was $22.

The food here was pricey and okay. The shrimp was big but overcooked and the Alfredo had way too much dried herbs. Our server was friendly and quick. The fish tacos were way too spicy. They were out of Pineapple Upside-down Cake. The waitress said she has worked there a long time and has never seen them run out. She said the cake is small but warm. I asked about the Lobster Roll. The waitress said it was $33 and not worth the price. The clam Chowder Gumbo was amazing! It was the second best part of this meal, next to my Gorgeous Husband. 😍

One of the remaining restaurants in the area that gives you the old Florida feel. Food was extremely fresh. The chicken tenders were hug and golden fried to perfection. The lobster roll was pretty dang good, not cheap, and the hushpuppies were great. I also greatly enjoyed the fish spread which unlike other places, served diced veggies to top your crackers.

New menu from what I was told. special sounds nice, but then ran out fast. The prices are very reasonable, so as the drinks. Food is ok, but price and portion make up for it.

Every time we are in the area we stop here. We love the oysters on the half shell, the atmosphere, the nice casual dining, and the service has been great every time we have come here. Their seafood is great and they have great cocktails. I would recommend this place to anyone who hasn't been. If you like seafood, try this place.

Whenever I travel, I always try to eat what's best recommended in the area. Being down in Florida, you gotta try the seafood. All this comes locally and it taste so good. This little unassuming seafood shack is super popular among the locals and they have $1.50 draft beers everyday and AYCE shrimp Monday thru Friday for $31+. I ordered the Fisherman's platter and let me just say the sheer amount of food was crazy. It came with whole clams, scallops, cod, shrimp, onion rings, fries and 2 sides. The waitress was nice and answered all of our questions. It cost me $40+ so it's not cheap at all. There was a few problems, some of the fried pieces were undercooked and if I'm paying that much money for a meal I expect it to be fried properly, the rice pilaf was dry and the house potatoes had no seasoning at all. I was slightly disappointed in my meal but willing to give them a try again when I visit as it was recommended by a good family member.

Oh my goodness..PERFECT, relaxed, outdoor,bar atmosphere…..with an open seating plan and gentle music In background ….(I think).. It was exactly 5:30 pm, perfect temperature w/ a light breeze. My Aunt & Uncle have made this place their “little ritual”, when he vacations in Fl once a year!! So after my Boyfriend and I found out-That it was also my Auntsy’s Bitrthday🥳we drove down from N.Tampa, so we wouldn’t miss any of the Casual,Clammy Birthday! Festivities.#1-Excellent Good-I ordered popcorn shrimp with a side of steamed broccoli and a side salad..Very impressed.. The only👎 was the service. We had a table full of dishes.,and right before about we were getting our group pic, the waitress grabs my Aunt’s *Ahi Tuna Tacos* -that she purposely wrapped up after taking only 2 bites, so she could savor them at home for a couple days(which I guess it’s something she always does because she doesn’t go out a lot!!) So having waitressed and bartended at a few different places, earlier in life,I noticed these little bad I no’s as a waitress.On top of that I couldn’t get 1 person that worked there , help in sing Happy Birthday to my Aunt.Our waitress straight out said “No way”(Not even kidding), the bartender, whom we all saw many times to refill our own drinks, From Sweet Teas,Waters, and Budweiser draft.I asked a few people if the manager ,”Nick?” was there and I guess he was not there that night.🤔Lastly if you look at my Aunt’s face progressively through the pics, she was so sad about her thrown away 1.5 Ahi Tuna tacos, To which- just to put it out there -probably wouldn’t be so sincerely not a big deal to most, but-on the note that she is the most loving, non-judge mental, sees only the GOOD in All things, GODLIEST person that I’ve EVER KNOWN, not feeling that I have to explain her character too much..And after finding out what happened ( especially after finding out that she literally doesn’t eat out EVER, except this *1* night that she waits for all year, which just happened to be on her birthday this year, and wasn’t even going to say anything, knowing it had to be a mistake.So of course I -as the pit bull for the people I love in our little family-Very nicely explained to the waitress, just the ONE problem. Only asked if they could possibly replace both the tacos , she said the they couldn’t replace -.5 tacos but. St he would get her 1.For people getting paid on how attentive and kind they are to their customers,this waitress got “The Casual Clam” just 1 star from me, but the food was so fab, I had to give a least 3 stars, and maybe a tip that if WE ALL could be a little nicer to others in any situation /We could all possibly make this world a little more peaceful, one fish taco at a time!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I was a bit disappointed in the food for the price. I got the platter with fish, clams, shrimp, and scallops with fries and hushpuppies. I shouldn't have gotten everything fried. It might have been better if I got some things cooked differently. It needed more seasoning. Hushpuppies and fish are great and the did give a lot of food. Everyone was nice.

Low key laid back restaurant offering basic seafood baskets. The fried oysters and onion basket had good flavor. The oysters could have been fried longer but still had good flavor. My husband ordered fish and chips, we were hoping for catfish but they only had cod. It was still tasty though. The fish tasted fresh and cook perfectly. They also offered a nice selection of beer and and wine. We would definitely go there again.

Casual clam is a great little place to eat & have some afternoon cocktails. It has outside and inside seating. Outside seating is best for couples or small groups because seating is limited. Outside There are about 7 or 8 high top tabs, 2 or 3 long bench type tables for groups and about 3 or 4 four person tables. There is a full bar outside that stretches the length of the outside seating area, so it's a good size with a couple of smaller tv's. The wait staff was very polite & tentative. The food came out in a decent amount of time. Parking is a bit limited. Easy to pull into from 9th st. North. It's across from the winn dixie.

My massage therapist recommended this place and upon talking to locals in the downtown area about it, discovered they'd never been. Perhaps they're a bit snobby down south but this place is worth a shot. It's greasy and unhealthy but tasty and filling. The server got slammed after we arrived and did her best to maintain order. My friends and were there to reunite so we slowly grazed our fried delights. It's tasty but perhaps a side of hot sauce will complement it nicely.

This place was so good! I got their fried clam strips and thin, crispy onion rings with tiger sauce, as recommended by Julie, my server. I would go back for her kind hospitality on it's own, but those clam strips were great! Cool spot too with lots of friendly people, good music and vibes at the bar.

Mushrooms were fantastic and more than we could eat. My boyfriends chicken Philly was the best he's had! My blackened shrimp were perfectly cooked. Also tried the clambo, yummy. Excellent service as well. We'll definitely be back

Not impressed for the price, shrimp was dry. Very casual, fast food atmosphere with food served in plastic baskets, and drinks in plastic cups, everything implied cheap except the price of food. Staff was friendly though.

We went one night for dinner while visiting the area. I actually found them via Door dash. We were looking for somewhere near our hotel and hopefully not super touristy. This place was definitely what we were looking for! Indoor and outdoor seating available, simple menu for the most part but a decent selection. I got the shrimp tacos and they were so great we came back the next night so I could get them again before we left town. Definitely worth the trip!!

Delicious seafood spot! Can't miss it while in St. Pete. Great taste and cooked very well. I'm big on clam chowders so I wish theirs had more clams in it instead of tasting like celery soup...But I would come back to eat more seafood platters for sure!

Super popular neighborhood restaurant and bar with that special Florida feel. They have $5 burgers all day, every day but I opted for the clam strips which were FABULOUS. A generous portion, too! They also serve oysters and many kinds of fresh fish. Casual, upbeat and fun place to meet for a drink as well as dine. Open air.

It’s was our first time here tonight and we were pleasantly surprised to find such great seafood and friendly service so close to downtown. Fresh, fast and great prices. I had the fried shrimp, it was crispy with hush puppies and broccoli! So good... music was great too! We’ll be back for sure. Beats driving all the way to crabby bills just to wait in line for mediocre seafood.

The restaurant was very busy . Good music with a great vibe . The outside eating area was busier than inside . Drinks were very good . From the look of the menu board they have specials everyday of the week . Happy hour is daily 4pm - 6pm . Our server Aspyn was phenomenal . The portions of food were huge . I enjoyed the Clambo soup which is a combo of clam chowder & gumbo it was fantastic ! Main courses were clam dinner & my wife had the clam , haddock , shrimp meal with added scallops . Both meals were over the top delicious . We look forward to returning soon . Reminds us of Martha's Vineyard quality seafood . Great job Casual Clam !

Really tasty spicy gumbo, average side salad but with awesome Greek dressing, haddock sandwich. Nice chunk of fish that they even split up for sharing between the two of us. Excellent service. Free draft beer with Rays ticket even! Atmosphere is much more fun outside.

My mother-in-law took me here for my first visit for Father’s Day. We had hot boiled shrimp to start. They were firm and cooked perfectly. The sauce was delicious. I had the captain’s platter, why not it’s my day 😄. Everything was hot and fresh. Of course my sides were cole slaw and hush puppies. I had enough for lunch and took the rest home for dinner. We tried the pineapple upside down cake for dessert. This may be my first visit but it won’t be my last 😋

Casual neighborhood seafood joint with fresh fish selections sum this place up. Sit indoors or outdoors. The gumbo is average overall and fries are straight up frozen variety of stem fries. The fresh fish is excellent. The Amberjack sandwhich was done perfectly with a good portion of fish. Overall service is friendly.

The atmosphere, service, and food were absolutely amazing!!! I come here from KY and have been looking for the best seafood joint. This is by far the best all around.::::: ::::::::::::::::UP DATE::::::::::::::::::::::: I have brought several people to this establishment and left a very good Google review as well. BUT tonight 6/16/21. I had to go to the bar to order a drink, go to the bar and get it, waited 30 min and still no waitress, the bar tender yelled at me asking if I wanted another drink (Mine was long gone). I asked if I had a waitress she responded with "me". I had to go to the bar and ask for a menu and again to order my food. Every time the bar tender just watching me get up from my table to walk to the bar to wait on myself. The only time anyone came to my table was literally to drop off the food (way undercooked) and bring the check, wich i had to wave down the bartender lady and ask for.. So disappointed. I come here every time I'm in town but tonight is a disaster. Over a 2 hour ordeal.

One of my absolute favorite places to eat since I first moved to the St. Petersburg area back in 1994! I never stop in without having myself some of their delicious clam chowder either. Casual? Without a doubt! Dining is offered indoors in the cold air conditionining on our hot and humid days or you can grab a seat in the open air area and enjoy the natural breeze while you sample their absolutely delicious variety of seafood catches and specials of the day. The staff is always happy to greet you and service is top-notch from open to close so don't feel you need to turn away if it's 15 minutes before closing time. My last visit, we arrived at around 9:30 and they close at 10 pm. We wanted the all-you-can-eat shrimp and service was provided happily, promptly refilled and not once were we made to feel rushed. I've never been disappointed by a meal, service or the atmosphere here. People of all ages, local and visitors from out of state can be found filling this little gem year-round. If the parking lot is full, be sure to swing back by soon because you'll sure be glad you did!

This is my husband's favorite restaurant and one of the only places that we go that he doesn't complain about something!!! Inside or outside dining. Great for a group or just date night. I have been here with 2 people and with 14 people and have not had a problem with anything! Food is always good and servers know what they are doing!

Well of course the clam chowder was very good as usual. The blackened shrimp basket was also very good, along with the hush puppies, my sister shared them both with me. I had the Lobster roll, and the french fries. The french fries were very good. Couldn't pay the flies to eat the other. Kinda new that I shouldn't have ordered it, as when you say Maine Lobster, you always seem to get the claws and to me, they taste like rubber. I will never order that again. Thought it would be like shrimp salad since they described it with celery, but it was just ground up lobster meat with the rubber claws laid on top with old lettuce and I think I saw scallion greens, but no mayonnaise or juice of any kind, (lime) came with, but dry and tasteless, not an item that fits on their menu, since everything else works.

this used to be our favorite place to go when in town. Not anymore. Way overpriced for a clam basket. About 10 clams & 10 fries for $34. The food is very good. Clam chowder bowl was only a cup of about 3 ounces., not a bowl. We have had Ipswich clams many places down here and never paid that much and plates were so much bigger. We wont be back. $100.00 lunch is a little too much.

Great food but they really need to do a lot more marketing if they're going to survive. You can hardly see their sign from the street and in this market they're just not going to make it unless they put up better signage at the very least. But the menu is nice and it's pretty healthy if you just go to scoop in some lettuce

I don't do seafood due to allergies, but my roommate does and absolutely loves it !! I usually get the " all day, every day " $5 hamburger with $3.50 fries, or I do the N.Y. strip . The seasoning on both are perfect and both taste delicious and cooked to my requested temperature. They also have an outside tiki bar. A little on the pricey side, but definitely worth it.

The lobster roll was decent,but on a hot dog bun not toasted or super lightly toasted...for $32 and 5 bites later I wasn't impressed unfortunately,but the lobster salad had decent flavor is the only reason it got 3 starts and not less. Very disappointed in their whole belly fried clams. They advertise Ipswich whole belly clams. They definitely were not. I used to eat here often and I'm from MA. However, they do cook good food and service was great. We all enjoyed sitting outside

the food was amazing as usual when I FINALLY got it. the server was the absolute WORST I have had in 5 years of living here it took over 20 minutes to even get acknowledged and given a menu. it only got worse from then. the only time I got attention was when I was ready to sign the check I have been here many times but this was just AWFUL. thank god for the kitchen, they pulled this crapshow out and gave great food

This was our first trip here and the food was really good...I had the seafood platter and my word it was enough to feed 3 people. Wife had the lobster roll and said it was perfect. Margaritas were good. Only complaint we had was the little side patio allowed smokers and the roll up door was up and the disgusting cigsrette smoke was blowing into the inside seating

This was our second time here. We were looking for the same delicious experience as the first time. My husband orderded a bowl of the clambo (gumbo and clam chowder). It came right out. He liked it. I didn't. I ordered the special appetizer..the crab stuffed mushrooms. When I cut into the mushroom, I thought it might have been frozen, but it was raw. The stuffing was barely warm. This took 20 mins to bring out to me. Long after the soup was gone. I had asked the server if they were supposed to be raw and she said 'they run them under the broiler. " That was it. Our seafood platter, corn muffin were very good. Not pleased with the way the server handled this.

The food was really great, loved the lightly breaded shrimp and onion rings, and ahi tacos were good just needed more wasabi sauce. The outdoor seating was fantastic and great shaded areas to stay out of the sun. The service was just ok and didn't see our waiter much but he was very accommodating to our 5 yr old, having to move seats and food requests.

"Julie your an absolute Rockstar waitress!!!" After a shockingly bad experience with a very nasty (now former) employee we almost stopped coming here. But the clam strips are the best in town so we decided to give it another try. Julie is an exceptionally great waitress. She is very personable and friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. I loved it food was excellent and so were the workers prices were a little high but not to high i had the grilled shrimp platter it was $17.99 so worth it anyone in the st petersburg area visting please don' t waste your time at red lobster come here the food is soooo much better the environment was fun and casual as the name suggests you won't be sorry coming here i promise

I heard about the Casual clam on a radio ad and wanted to give it a try. It turned out to be such a great seafood bar! It's not on the menu, but they are famous for their $1 oysters which were incredible! Our server Melissa was an absolute sweetheart and she kept the food and drinks coming. Cute atmosphere in the outside seating area near the bar. The buffalo shrimp were big and delicious, the fresh Calamari medley was outstanding and came with fried broccoli and peppers. We also split an order of onion rings which were house made, sliced super thin and crispy batter fried and served with house made tangy sauce. Maybe the best onion rings I ever had! This is our new favorite spot, we will be back again soon and often! The only negative thing to mention is their mixed drink menu was fun and inventive, but the drinks themselves were pretty weak. They do have 1.50 draft beers which were fine for me with all of that delicious food! Definitely try it if you're in the area or if you're in the mood for oysters, you wont be disappointed

I am from Sarasota up in St Pete on a work assignment , I drove by this restaurant on my way there , on my way back I stopped in for lunch and had a fried clam and dinner , "outstanding" , the best I have ever had in the 30 years that I've lived in Sarasota , l am from New England (CT.) and have been looking for a place like this since I have been here , I will certainly make the drive back here with my wife for dinner in the near future

Onion rings were raw crunch and left out an order of mushrooms totally which we were told to get back in car to get as they didn’t think they could refund.did not seem to care. Then suggested on our way home from work tomorrow. Sounds like they lost the covid battle from recent reviews .There are too many others that do care

It pains me to give this place that I used to frequent 4 or 5 times a week 3 stars. The prices have gone up and the food is less. My waitress actually threw my casual clam loyalty card in the trash... and once I had her dig it out I asked for the balance on the card for the current meal I just paid for she said zero. Had to get someone else to show her what to do and I find out on a $80 bill I get 248 points. Now wait a minute that's all I get? That doesn't even cover the NEW SURCHARGE FOR PAYING WITH A CREDIT CARD.... WTH...I WOULD HAVE PAID CASH IF I KNEW THAT. place has gone down hill might not come back

Outstanding! Server, JULIE superior, expert with ALL menu choices. I had the AHI tuna wrap. Seared to perfection,A 10 without a doubt. Must try if you haven't already. Onion rings, the best! What a gem! We live south of the Skyway and decided to try this place on our way home and I am so glad we did! The service was attentive. The food was so unexpectedly amazing. We had Buffalo shrimp and Ahi tacos. Believe them when they say it is spicy! It was amazing! I am soooo picky when it comes to tacos and I could not have been more pleased. The Buffalo shrimp were huge and delicious. As a side, we ordered onion rings. Wow. We cannot wait to go back!

Stopped for $5 burger, but also ordered Long Island Iced Tea $9 and onion rings $9. Treated very poorly. Totally ignored, so tip got smaller and smaller. Shame. Visitors from upper Mich ordered same time as me. Still did not have food when I left. Horrible service!!

We had a great experience at the casual clam. I actually celebrated my birthday there and the staff and service was excellent! The bartender Bryan really made us feel right at home. He was so friendly and professional and really made this a great time. The food was out of this world. Everything we order was delicious. We will definitely be making this one of our go to spots.

I don't get here as often I would like. If your looking for authentic New England seafood this is the place. They NEVER disappoint you. Although recently the prices have increased like everywhere and everything else its still worth it. Been here before and was craving some steamers so went back. The flies were atrocious! You were literally attacked as you sat there. The "steamers" were the worst I've had, unfortunately. The shrimp tacos and the blackened fish sandwich were delicious. I like the open air atmosphere because covid is still active and I don't like indoor dining for that reason. My only complaint is that the music is too loud and it is hard to have a conversation without straining your voice.other than that, it really is a cool place to be.

Nice clean atmosphere. Outstanding customer service (Dawn and Manager). We had the shrimp and oyster baskets, which were cooked to perfection. They offer and provided a military discount. They comp a free shared dessert due to the clam chowder being served a little bit after the main course. They know how to make things right! We will definitely be back again.

A St. Pete gem! The best seafood you can get in the St. Pete area, including the beach. The Casual Clam had a total local vibe, which made us feel at home and welcome. Their oysters are shucked to order and some of the best I’ve had in the area, mind you, I order them as an app everywhere I go. Our bartender, Bryan, was wonderful. The restaurant was packed, as too be expected as it is “season” and we were still taken care of as if we were the only ones there. Thank you Bryan, and thank you Casual Clam! I’ve taken my two star rating to 5 again after the new ownership has revamped the menu and the food and service has improved vastly. I stayed away for a year and came back to give it a few more tries recently and have been very pleased. My husband really enjoyed the Shrimp Po Boy and said it was better than the one we had in New Orleans. The shrimp is amazing and I will never go anywhere else for shrimp. The hush puppies were great in fact everything was great. I have to say that you have made some great improvements even from the previous owners. Everything crispy and not greasy like it used to be, even the onion rings. The vibe is much better and the restaurant is cleaner. I have been very happy!

Nice casual Floridian restaurant with mediocre food. We wanted the fish spread, but didn’t because it came with gross saltines. I had the clambo which had a tasty broth, but was loaded with mostly potatoes. The lobster roll was generous, but was the rather tasteless local lobster instead of Maine lobster.

The food is really, really good. My wife is doing physical therapy down the street and my son and I have been driving around the area. After multiple! terrible take out meals and experiences at Tripp's Diner, we decided to try here when we saw a shrimp basket advertised while driving by. My son loves his shrimp! They have online ordering on their webpage which I really appreciate. The first time I asked if I could do a curbside pickup and was given a hard time about it. They went so far to tell me they "don't come outside" as I, sitting in their parking lot, watched their servers come outside to serve customers in the outside seating area. They did ultimately bring my food out to the car, which we appreciated. It's possible to safely pull up a few feet from the outdoor dining & door, so it would be very strange to not do curbside on a prepaid online order. The second time we went they gave us no issue when we asked for curbside pickup, but when the food was brought out to us the server was not wearing a mask.When someone unmasked hands me my food I am left feeling quite uncomfortable. If they're not wearing masks while you can see them are they wearing them in the kitchen? I would appreciate, if anyone from the business reads this, you please reminding your staff to stay masked while on duty, or at a minimum while interacting face to face with customers. I'm hoping next time they're properly masked and it was just a one off issue. The server who gave me my food the first time was properly wearing her mask. With those two pickup related issues mentioned, let me get back to the important part of my review - the food is amazing. Their lobster roll is amazing. Their shrimp basket is amazing. Their fries are very good. Their broccoli is very good. Their fish and chips were ok, I prefer a nice big piece of flaky fish to what they have (basically high quality fish fingers), but my son thought they were ok (He prefers the fish and chips at Zekos Mediterranean Grill). Their chicken philly (My wife isn't big into seafood, I know she's crazy) was also very good. I forgot to get it without mushrooms (neither my wife or I like mushrooms) and we both still thought it was good, which is high praise. It's also a bit pricey. $20 for a relatively small lobster roll. Nevertheless, I've had it twice, so clearly I ultimately decided it was worth it. $15 for the above mentioned gourmet-fish-fingers style fish and chips. $14 for the chicken philly. I'd honestly pin $14-16 for the lobster roll, $12-13 for the fish and chips and $10-12 for the philly as the price points at which I'd think I was getting a good value. I went back though, because ultimately the food was good enough that the expense qualified as a 'Treat yo self' purchase. None of these issues are serious enough to warrant removing any stars. When I'm fully vaccinated I'm going to dine in there and try their $5 margarita, if it's good I'll be very happy.

We have been coming here for years. Service is good. Seafood is fresh. Overall good experiences. This last time we went the portions were unusually small. Must have been an off night. Still tasted great. We will be back. Re response: I had a dinner with grilled shrimp and scallops. My wife had a full plate of grilled shrimp. I only received 3 shrimp. It tasted great as always and it was a busy night so no, I did not complain to the server. We have had many great experiences in the past here and will return.

Good clam chowder. 1st time visiting. Have a feeling be back often. Went back with wife today. Had a quesadilla with scallops 14. Cup of gumbo 5. 3 small plastic cups of bud light, 2 kettle one drinks. Somehow added up to 45 dollar's. Didn't occur to me to later to check receipts.. seems awfully high.

The food was great. They have some of the best New England Clam Chowder that I've ever had, and I'm quite picky about clam chowder. It's a little heavy on the black pepper, but was still so good that I scarfed it down pretty quickly. The portion sizes are pretty good overall. I ordered the mussels as my appetizer and they came in a large bowl. There were easily 30 of them in it, along with two pieces of garlic ciabatta bread. I was full before my entree even arrived. The mussels were FANTASTIC. They came in a garlic butter sauce that complimented the taste of the mussels PERFECTLY. (Pro tip: save the garlic bread for after you finish the mussels and then dip it into the garlic butter mixture leftover...it's to die for!) There was a slight lemon-y taste in the garlic butter that works well also, along with a lemon wedge served on top of the mussels, so note that there is citrus in it if you have any sensitivity to that. Not enough to really cause heartburn or exacerbate an ulcer or anything like that. The French fries that came with the entree were good. Slightly seasoned but not too salty. Crisp outside but fluffy potatoes inside. The chicken sandwich was quite large. I ended up taking it home to eat. It was all delicious! My husband ordered the chicken wings as his appetizer. He ordered them as mild because he's got a medical condition that makes it difficult for him to tolerate a lot of spicy food. Unfortunately, the mild wings still do have a bit of a kick to them. If you like some heat, they're great. But if you have reflux or ulcers or are sensitive to spicier/hotter foods, it's best to skip those. The cheese steak was good. It came with onions and green peppers mixed in, in addition to the cheese over top. It was juicy and tender and had great flavor. The setting is quite relaxed and comfortable, like you'd expect on a beach or something. Outside covered seating with fans. There is a bar. Casual Clam has a little bit of a sports bar feel to it, but it's definitely still relaxed enough and appropriate enough for kids to be present. It's quite close to the side of a busy street, so keep in mind that there are lots of cars nearby. You get a nice breeze coming through the seating area. They play music in the background too. We would both absolutely recommend this place to both locals and tourists. Just keep in mind that it's a bit pricey, so keep that in mind when planning a dinner out. Plan to spend around $60 for two appetizers and two entrées, before the tip. Also note that I have NOT been paid for my rating, though if Casual Clam decides to do so, I won't complain. I'd settle for a free bowl of your clam chowder though! (;

Update 6/1/22: The recent reviews are correct, unfortunately the menu is half the selection only cod fish no more Mahi or grouper hand made cajun nuggets or gumbo. Very disappointing. The very expensive lobster bisque was actually very good. I don’t know it’s supposed to be a seafood joint they don’t carry any seafood now. Its 2022 now things should have been figured out by now. Are the local waters that polluted?! I am so thankful that casual clam is still open with the whole Covid mess and challenges. I was able to recently go there and order very similar items that I normally ordered-I habe been going for 15 years and still plan to go I gave three stars this time because their gumbo seemed water down and didn’t contain any shrimp or crab the menu seemed slimmed down I couldn’t find or the waitress didn’t know of their Cajun haddock nuggets and I did not see any mahi or any of the big fish type sandwich items but I hope if I keep going back their business can get back to where it was where they could have their original menu and quality.

Hubbilious had steamed muscles w/garlic, white wine n butter, he said was good, he had a cup of Gumbo, he said was spicy but good... I had the creamiest New England Clam chowder... yummy! The Conch fritters... they were fried too hard and the Conch was chewy, over cooked. For my meal, I ordered a Lobster Roll. I haven't eaten it yet but the piece of Lobster I tried tasted good.... 💁🏾‍♀️Would we go back, I don't think so, there are other places we've been to that have been better and there are so many places we haven't tried yet....

I went here with my dad the other day for the first time. We came around mid afternoon and it was not busy which was nice for a quiet environment. The inside was decorated very cute with a whimsical sea theme and the space was cozy. The servers were very attentive to my food allergies and the whole experience was great. We visited two days ago. Great experience with friendly and informative bartender. My wife had the special - eight shrimpwith gumbo, I had the clam chowder and the steamed hard she'll clams. Excellent lunch, everything was great. The clams were superb, very clean with no grit - super for FL where it is tough to get real clean clams. The special was great with tasty gumbo and good blackened shrimp. You will enjoy and appreciate the Casual Clam!! !we are sitting in the clam right now My wife had the fish tacos and I had the clams once again. Absolutely fantastic!! Told waitress I enjoyed garlic so the clam bowl was filled with great garlic butter that I put the side butters in with the bowl. My wife loved the fish tacos with potato salad - loved the Mango sauce!! Again, five star service and food. If you have not been here, give it a try!!

Stopped here on the last day of our vacation. Nice little place, got menu selection for casual seafood. However the waitress we had was rude, only came to our table once and asked 1 person for a refill while the other drinks were empty. We sat where we could see the food come out of the kitchen and 2 of our plates were taken to another table then returned to the waiting station left to get cold. I had fish tacos that would have been good but were cold and stale.

I'm from Maine, moved to Conn. My husband is a Chef from Conn. Then we moved to Fl. He worked at The Orlando Country club and was one of Arnold Palmers chefs. He later worked at The University Club of Orlando. I grew up on lobster, clams done anyway you can think from mom and dads love of seafood and wonderful cooking. We had a very good meal tonight. The waitress were all very pleasant. The place was packed and the food came out in a very timely manner. We talked with the owner and hit it off right away as he came to our table and talked with us for a while. Very nice man. I give it 5 stars because the food was great the staff was great and the owner takes time to see his customers are happy.

We were looking for a place that served fried clams. That's what my mother wanted for her 79th birthday dinner. I found the Casual Clam online and we decided to try it out. The food was exceptionally good with generous portions. We ordered the shrimp platter, seafood platter and the captain's platter and the birthday girl had the fried clam basket. Everything was amazing! The children had fish sticks and fries. The fish sticks were huge and were actual slices of battered fish. Overall, it was a great meal in a comfortable little place with exceptional service.

Stopped in for a late dinner with my parents that have never been. I also haven't been in a good while so was a little nervous about showing them a good time. Upon arrival and talking with the server we find out they are under new ownership. No worries I thought let's give them a try! I had the Shrimp Loaf, Mom had the fisherman's platter, and Step-dad had the fried whole belly clam dinner. We also shared the clam chowder and the Cape Cod Chips with Feta. I have to say all three of us were very happy with our choices. Everything was prepared to perfection and the whole belly clams were light and delicious, you could taste the sea! Service was quick and the manager stopped by to make sure everyone was happy. For a casual experience with top notch seafood at a fair price I give them an A+ they will remain on my go to list when in the area.

The clam has been one of our regular dinner spots for years. They recently changed ownership and we were slightly disappointed to realize that many of our favorite menu items changed as well. The biggest changes were the breading and buffalo sauce. The new versions are not bad, but they are no longer unique and crave-worthy. The service is always great at the bar, so we will just have to find other things on the menu that make the visit worthwhile.

We have been coming to the Casual Clam for about 12 years. The food has quality has increased 300% since the new owners have purchased the location a couple years ago. The food quality is far superior than any other restaurants in the area and the price you pay Is very fair. They just purchased the property behind the restaurant and turn it into a parking lot which is very convenient and we noticed yesterday they installed new bike racks. Keep up the good work and Thank you for providing St. Petersburg with fresh new England seafood.

Best bang for the buck was their delicious shrimp dinner with two sides. Had mine grilled with side salad. Should have not ordered the salad because there was A LOT of good sized shrimp. Hush puppies were good too. Will be back again. Only 4 stars because outside dining is along busy roadside but otherwise good choice.

I've been twice now, and both times the food was on point!!! Coming from Key West, I like my seafood. Everything is cooked perfectly, not overdone or undercooked. Portions are quite large so bring your appetite!!! Prices are way fair, with five dollar Margaritas and all you can eat shrimp for less than twenty five bucks you can't beat it. I have never had a negative experience at Casual Clam. The food is AWESOME! I highly recommend the salmon sandwich and the clam chowder. My family has also said great things about their key lime pie. The outdoor seating area is cute and hidden from 9th street with lots of plants so that it doesn't feel like you are sitting on a main road. They recently started selling breakfast, too! All the staff are very friendly and personable as well.

The place is super clean, and i'm a clean freak so I appreciated that, but the food...eh. It was bland for me. I had the grouper sandwich and the fries. The grouper wasn't seasoned right. I had to put like 4 lemons on it for taste and the fries tasted like they weren't fried all the way so they were hard and didnt taste like anything. The staff was very nice though. Very attentive.

Sat 1/21/2017 my kid and I were in the neighbourhood and wanted to visit the CC since we love their food. The services was horrible. Waitress complained about previous customers (how they asked about calories of the food), fact that she had two tables right when she came in, had to keep asking for refills, not friendly at all, etc. I've eaten at this resturant before more than once in the past with great service (it is a distance from me) but this is the first time I had suck crappy service. My kid and I left with the thought of if this is how the service is going to be then we will not be back. Love the food, service needs major work.

I have had worse experiences at seafood bars, but this place was underwhelming. The raw oyster special had apparently not been rinsed at all, so every mouthful was gritty. They did seem fresh though, so I wasn't worried about getting sick. The fried belly clams were decent, just be aware of the difference between belly clams and clam strips, it isn't for everyone. My wife's clam chowder was barely lukewarm, but had an ok flavor.

Wow! Talk about a shrimp fest, we enjoyed large, juicy, perfectly cooked shrimp three different ways, AYCE $24. The sides were standard but tasty. Others in our party had grilled Mahi (fresh, moist, and tasty) and a sauteed crab cake served with a creamy remoulade sauce. The service was great, even though they were very busy, and the crowd was very friendly. The place isn't fancy, but it's clean, welcoming, and has indoor and outdoor seating. Great family and friend vibe. We all loved it!

Just had lunch there for the first time. It was awesome. I found my new favorite place. We split some items so we could try more than 1 think. The Clambo (clam chowder mixed with seafood gumbo) is a must. Then we ordered the whol belly clam basket and one of the daily specials (grilled salmon BLT). Both were great but the clam basket was huge and I can't wait to order it again. Also the staff and service were great. Just can't say enough!!

The Casual Clam always has a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. The food is always fresh, perfectly cooked, and quickly brought to our table by friendly and attentive servers. My favorite is the crab cake dinner: It is served with three, meaty, expertly seasoned, burger-sized patties of pure crab nirvana. The hush puppies are also the best I have ever had; with a light onion flavor and fluffy texture, they manage to be rich, but not too heavy and compliment everything on the menu. This place is an absolute gem and I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting their taste buds to dance and sing to the tune of la mer.

I ate there a few times and liked it but found myself in the last few years to just drop in and get some gumbo to go, which is awesome and now call o ahead required. The best New England seafood in the area. Friends from Boston Massachusetts who went with me told the staff it was better than some of their restaurants back home. Large portions cooked perfectly and specials everyday of the week. A little bit short staffed at lunchtime but the food made up for it. I had haddock, Ipswich clams w/bellies, shrimp, scallops, hushpuppies & coleslaw. $1.00 draft beer was ice cold.

Man.. I love these guys and had been raring to go back since the pandemic. I was perusing the latest reviews and saw that someone had mentioned them not wearing masks. We decided to give them a shot anyways, figuring that maybe it was an isolated incident. We walked in as they were just opening, used their restrooms, and immediately left. Not the servers, not the bartender/bar staff.. No one wearing masks. Really unfortunate. Just fyi for anyone else covid conscious or immuno-compromised. We drove down the street to another restaurant.. Every single staff member is wearing masks and maintaining distance.

I tried the buffalo style chicken sandwich based on other reviews. It was ok, certainly not bad. I would have liked it if it was a little saucier and hotter (it was very saucy, but prefer more). It would have also been more enjoyable with some ranch but I got only one visit from the waitress. The half and half (arnold palmer) was VERY GOOD. They have a nice "casual" outdoor seating area and it's a quaint place. The price was very fair and I'd eat here again after trying a few other places just to mix it up. I'm not rushing back.

What a wonderful spot. Before going I read the reviews. My mother, son and I showed up, and were able to seat ourselves. The waitress, Dawn, arrived just moments later. We already knew wanted clams and ordered 4 dozen steamers with a bowl of Clambo, a kids fried shrimp and fries as well as two cokes and lemonade for my son. Dawn didn’t miss a beat. She told us she was handling a party inside, but we could hardly tell! My mom is from Massachusetts and absolutely loved the outdoor experience while we waited. She said it reminded her of home. The drinks came to us fairly quickly, and the clams arrived about 10-15 minutes later with enough water for cleaning and drawn butter to cleanse a clam army! By the time we were halfway through the clams, the bowl of Clambo, my sons fried shrimp dinner and ice cold cocktail and tarter sauce arrived. Everything was cooked perfectly. The Clambo didn’t ‘look’ fancy. It looked homemade and tasted phenomenal!!!! We finished off the clams, and Dawn whisked the plates away (I love a clean server) as she placed a fresh coke down in front of me. She received our dinner orders before when she delivered the Clambo (lobster roll and red potato salad for mom and crab cake entree for myself with the Mediterranean pasta salad and country style creamy coleslaw), so dinner arrived about 10 minutes later. The crab cakes remind her of how her mom used to make her own crab or salmon cakes. The lobster was fresh and we could tell the sides were freshly made. Thank you for making her birthday nostalgic 🥳 We’ll likely come back every Friday. We want to try the whole menu.

Seat yourself when you arrive. We sat in the indoors room which had poor lighting, because the outside bar allows smokers and my wife is allergic. We ate the all u can eat snow crabs. My 1st plate was fine, but the 2nd plate tasted like they had been boiled in 10 lbs of salt water. The sides suck, except for the hush-puppies. We live near Myrtle Beach, SC so we don't usually complain, but the food was catered to all the Yankee tourist. I felt bad for the wait staff who was either short staffed that night or just needed more help, cause there were only 2 for the whole restaurant. I give them 3 stars for only going 1 time and we'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

I try to schedule a meal at the Casual Clam whenever I am in St. Pete on a Sunday afternoon. My favorite is still the fresh as can be haddock sandwich, a huge portion, grilled to perfection. And don't miss the fried mushroom basket as an appetizer!

Large portions. Shrimps are BIG. All you can eat....grilled shrimp scampi shrimp blackened shrimp breaded shrimp. Insert bubbu gump shrimp meme here. Almost everything on the menu is delicious, but my favorites are the fish spread, the steak philly, fried shrimp by the half pound, and of course the FRIED LOBSTER TAIL. It is everything you think it will be, so good you don't need butter!!

I was born and raised in Massachusetts and grew up on seafood. Since I moved to Florida in 2003 I have not been able to find seafood like back home. My girlfriend came across the Casual Clam online, we drove from New Port Richey to St. Pete to give it a shot, and the first bite of my dinner took me right back to New England. I was instantly a fan, and now will be taking my parents back so they can experience this Amazing little restaurant. Highly recommend trying it if you haven't. Vessy was our server and she was great. Casual clam is under new ownership and i tried a few items on the menu. Iwas impressed buy the size of the shrimp and taste. Big enough to use for big snook. I have visited this establishment 2x in the past 2 months. I do so wish I could go more often, but life (and small, mean-tempered, people who have a hard time keeping their sitting-parts in seats) have made that a little challenging. I can recommend all the fried seafood and fish as being pretty delicious. I would skip the crab-cakes. I've had them and they are fair (at best), but I am a crab-cake snob (being originally from the coastal Maryland area), so you may decide to risk it. To me, the real HOLY MOLY deliciousness is contained in the spicy (-ish) crab appetizer, the stuffed jalapenos, the potato salad, and the fried shrimp. I love that they have CHEDDAR cheese-stuffed jalapenos and that the batter for the shrimp is thin and flavorful without being over-spiced and/or fluffy. I HATE it when you have to play hide-and-seek with over-battered food. Fried food should have a thin, crispy shell, not a pancake layer so thick that you have no idea if the original item is in there at all! Other nice things: the food arrives so frickin' fast that I feel like there might be magic involved. Those small, grumpy people (of whom I wrote earlier) barely had time to scribble colors on their place-mats (let alone all other available surfaces) before our super-delicious, crispy offerings arrived. I would rate this joint 8/10 for food (as a seafood shack), 9.5/10 for service (only because certain people have led me to believe that perfection is absolutely impossible), and 6.5/10 for setting/decor (inside seating is very limited and it's effin' HOT in Florida).
