Reviews of Westward

Great food, scenery, and service! Rio was awesome 👏 Super helpful and very knowledgeable. The food was amazing! I ate the Duck with Hazelnuts and omg, let’s just say my taste buds were highly satisfied. If you’re in the Fremont/U-District area and are looking for amazing food and scenery, definitely check this place out!

This place is one of my favorite restaurants to celebrate a special occasion. The view is stunning! Came for lunch on New Years Eve and enjoyed the spicy clam dip (their house made potato chips are to die for!), oyster po boy and the rockfish sandwich. The service is consistently charming as well. A must go!

Have the clams - the sauce is divine, and the fennel is a nice accompaniment that didn't overwhelm the subtle flavors. Endive salad was perfect with delicate greens and bold flavors. The fritters were also delicious.

Went out for my birthday dinner. Haven't been to Westward since taken over by Renee Erickson. We had front and center Adirondack chairs on a beautiful August night. We were greeted by our server who was attentive and gracious all night. My husband and I enjoyed the food, drinks, and atmosphere. The clams were delicious. The high level of customer service was noticeable and appreciated. Looking forward to coming back.

We came to Westward for a seafood dinner. Oysters on the half shell were fresh and nicely presented with a cucumber mignonette or hot sauce. The spicy clam dip with house made chips was excellent and then dinner.....
Dinner is a selection of larger shareable plates. So, if you want a meal plated with sides you might find Westward lacking.
Come here for fresh oysters, small or large plates for the table and drinks.
Service was excellent. We will return for a daylight meal on the water of oysters, small plates and drinks.

One of the best views of Seattle especially on a sunshine day. Great place to entertain out of town guests, work teams or a date. The food was all delicious but limited- very few meat selections. The only minor disappointment was that we were charged $4 each for the very very small condiment sides (ketchup and hot sauce ) that were offered to go with our oysters and potatoes. The ambiance, staff and service are all wonderful.
David Botros
The oysters are amazing! The clams were perfect! I can't wait to go back and try other things from the menu! The staff is super friendly.
Anna Strygina-Kay
I love the location of this place and the vibe. Oysters are absolutely delicious! We also shared spice clam dip and Wolf Bread. For the main entree we had seared halibut and it was scrumptious.

I came here with two friends for dinner to get some good oysters because one of them really wanted to give oysters a go.
I heard good things about Westward so went for this.
We split two types of oysters (got 6 total, 3 of each). One was slightly on the sweeter side and the other in the middle of sweet and briny.
I was definitely not a fan. Just that raw feeling threw me off.
Both my friends liked the oysters though so I think it's just my personal preference on this here.
You then shared a plate of baked oysters and it was amazing. That garlic ancho butter went really well with the oyster itself. The perfect amount of spicy and just a good dish overall.
I also got a side of seared zucchini and this was so so good! I don't think I've ever had zucchini cooked this way taste this good! The right amount of charring and It went perfectly well with the pistachio salsa verde on the side.
The serving size for this was also fairly big and definitely worth the price.
My friends also shared the Pacific Octopus and seemed to enjoy it. I would have expected more quantity in this though.
Also really hoped we could get a table with a view but ours was on the inside and nothing great.

Went here for our office dinner. So the whole restaurant was reserved for us. It was amazing. Right by the water, with outdoor heated seating included. I tried two drinks - Under the bridge Chipotle Pineapple shrub and pina colada. Both were excellent. The star of the night was Halibut Ceviche. It was immaculate. The fire roasted chicken and the bread from Seawolf bakery were phenomenal. For dessert, there was corn olive oil cake with rhubarb jam which was delightful to end the dinner with. Definitely coming back again.

Came here on a rainy day for some cocktails and great views. Did not disappoint. We had the Boys of Summer cocktail and the sparkling rose. Both super good.

We were given a gift card so we decided to try it here during our stay in Seattle. We didn't make a reservation but we went there early for dinner, glad we were given a table immediately. Great service and great food, the chickpea fritters was awesome, spare ribs and duck leg were great, oysters on that day was not the best though, and wish they could include more fruits in the sangria. We did enjoy the scenery and overall environment.

Great location and ambiance, cocktails and appetizer were tasty, ordered the chicken which was very hard to eat a little tough. Overall good spot to try but think the value is a bit overpriced
Kimberly Pham
I wanted to love this place unfortunately I have mixed messages with this place.
Bake oysters were delicious, the short rib very tender and full of flavors, the chickpea crunchy with nice India spices, and the clam had a great combination pairing with the watercress. Great view with classy interior decor. Unique cocktails and a great beer selection. All the staffs were friendly. The price seems a bit pricey but is Seattle so nothing surprising. Somehow at the end of the night, I didn't have a wow with this place. There are a ton of restaurants in the Seattle area that meet the same or similar criteria so I likely will not drive my way out to just dine here. If I happen to be in the area then yes I will likely dine with them or Ivar's Salmon house.

Oysters and wine lakeside? Count me in! Such a great spot to split a bottle of wine and shareable plates. The selection of oysters was very impressive and we paired it with a bottle of wonderful Chenin Blanc (highly recommend). Other noteworthy dishes is definitely the clams!
Peter Swindells
Amazing spot for oysters on the water. Great selection of tequila and mezcal as well. The broth with the manilla clams will make you see God.
Alberto Grimme
Absolutely fantastic food. We got to the restaurant by boat which added to the experience. We ordered several items on the menu, all spectacular. I highly recommend this place. Scallop ceviche is incredible. Meal was accompanied by a white wine, Ribolla Gialla, from Italy, one of my favorites to order. Enjoy the photos!!

Westward is perplexing. It’s the kind of place you really want to love but there are a couple of things holding it back.
First, yes, this place is fabulously situated on the shore of Lake Union. The building it’s in is contemporary and interesting (although extremely loud inside). The staff are nice and helpful. What doesn’t work so well is the menu: it’s actually hard to decide what to order as the items on the menu (excepting the oysters!) don’t seem particularly appetizing. An experiment for you, dear reader—scan the online menu and see if any of the large plates call to you and make you excited to drop $100/person. Same with the cocktails—they sound interesting but not particularly appetizing (and $18 for a cocktail is really pushing it IMO). On my outing I threw caution to the wind and ordered a couple of cocktails and my table shared the fish main and the polenta main. All were only OK. The cocktails were too, I don’t know, creative to be tasty and the mains were well executed but not particularly delicious. And the final bill was surprisingly high for what was really perfectly executed but only OK tasting mains and drinks.
I hope Westward considers updating its menu to land great flavors and a really enticing menu to go with its already great execution, location, and staff.

Everything we had was excellent! The freshest variety of oysters, the clam dip, the fire roasted corn, the braised ribs and the chocolate pudding...all of it was delicious. Loved the atmosphere. Very trendy place.
Steve Stremsterfer
Lively spot with a great view of Seattle from the north. Busy place but seating was quick despite a corporate event occupying almost half the restaurant. Menu was modest and had a great variety of drinks and eats. Ordered spicy clam dip and seared halibut. Both were very well prepared and delicious. Bar was quick and had a nice selection. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Daniel Archer
Had a great dinner here tonight with my wife and daughter. The oysters were amazing. The cocktails were really good as well. We also ordered the Haliibut which was also really good. The location is amazing at the top of Lake union. This was taken over by sea creatures (walrus and carpenter, whale wins, and many others) in 2018 and has only gotten better. Big thank you to Jeremy and Renee!
Tim Kraska
We recently went to one of their spirit tastings (rum). Event was super fun, and they had good bits paired with the rum. Be aware this place is loud and it's difficult to have a conversation with anyone but the person right next to you. I had the duck confit and it was a middle eastern spiced version that was very good. The beet salad and oysters were also very good.

Most folks hit up Westward on lovely sunny days. If you can't wait that long, an overcast rainy day stands no chance against the sunny atmosphere and staff at this beautifully located oyster haven (though they offer much more than oysters). Excellent house-made chips and dips, oyster shooters (go mezcal if you can), a half dozen of your favorite bivalves, and a michelada will chase away any rainy day blues.

5 stars. It was beautiful in Seattle today. We sat outside facing SLU. We ordered the seafood tower that includes 18 oysters, 12 more oysters, civiche, and potatoes. Holy. I'd come here just to have the potatoes. They are excellent. The seafood and oysters were very fresh. Drinks are always great. Service always sweet. Loved the afternoon.
Chenyu Wang
Had brunch at Westward. Food is average. The fried oyster was a little stale. Also the temperature of the food was not ideal. But great location with beautiful view of lake Union and nice outdoor seating. Will visit for the environment more than the food itself.
Tierany Seriflame
Lovely ambiance, great options for outdoor, covered seating. Brunch was delicious, but pricy. Gender neutral bathrooms were a welcome highlight. Nice little place!
Susie Kim
marinated mussels (appetizer), duck leg (main), flourless chocolate cake(desserts) are awesome 🤩 and yes, oysters are fresh and tasty! Their sauces are a bit tangy and sour side which I think it can be improved, I mean baked oysters don’t have to be sour!!!
Services were kind, outdoor dining only so it can be cold
Zeke Cao
Portions are small but very tasty. Amazing view by the water.
Rober Haza
We love this place. We used to sit down on their deck when it was just the two of us and feast on fresh oysters. Now with kids it's still a great place, loud enough that we don't care about how noisy the kids get and they loved the halibut, ate it all.
Kim Parsley
Lovely waterside deck for happy hour or evening cocktails and oysters. The view over the water back to downtown is unbeatable. Comfy, modern Adirondack chairs and simple stumps make up the patio furnishings.
William Shadbolt
Great location on the water on North Lake Union. I've been here multiple times and the food has always been outstanding. The food is a bit different from your average high end Seattle seafood place but in a good way. Limited parking on-site but plenty of street parking.
Matt Perrone
Westward is a local restaurant with a bit of an upscale taste, with smaller plate sizes packed with taste. The menu is quite expensive with smaller portion sizes, but each plate is delicious in its own way. With plenty of things on the menu, whether it's appetizers, small or large plates, it's worth getting a few things and sharing. Their drinks are made well and can be interesting sometimes as they are always making new ones. The dill dip, fresh bread, root vegetables and potatoes are a must when you come here for smaller appetizers. The ribs were amazing and the sauce was just spicy enough so they delivered. They have a lot of seating both indoor and outdoor, but I'd highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time to make sure you can get a seat since they're usually quite busy. With a sweet view of downtown, plenty of heaters outside and great service, this place makes for a great date night or celebratory meal.
Joe B
Food and drinks are decent, but dramatically overpriced and not remotely worth it. 3 star food at a 5 star price.
Duck was tasty. Would recommend.
Salmon was mediocre. Would eat but feel regret at the price.
Pork was bad. Would avoid completely.
Waiter had no idea about the cocktails and seemed annoyed when we asked for recommendations.
Christine WH
oh wow what a delight Westward is! Beautiful location, amazing food, great service. Some standouts: the oysters were fantastic - esp the Olympias!; the mussels tapenade type thing (pardon my inarticulate description but it's the one with the ritz crackers!) the DUCK leg; and the cocktails! Loved dining here, even in COVID / rain conditions. thanks for a great experience!
Hillgreen HOA
Everything we order was delicious. The menu is small and limited. We enjoyed our evening and the cool weather. Thank you Ashley (our server) and all the staff for being professional and kind. Made for an enjoyable evening. Will be returning.
Gabe Blanco
Great place for seafood and other bites. Excellent wine and great service.
Caitlin Conley
One of the best patios in Seattle! Amazing views and great vibes. It’s a safe COVID hangout with strict social distancing in place and outdoor dining only. The recently renovated patio is nice but some of their original vibes seem to have died out a little bit (a little more “polished” now) and their menu is a teeny overpriced, but I think it’s easier for them to get away with that with it being a bit of a touristy spot. Always perfect hangout for a HH though with some good drinks and oysters.
Viktoriya Burkatska
Love coming here! The sitting area outside is amazing. The whole restaurant decor is so authentic! Love their seafood especially their oysters! The vibe of the whole place is very awesome. Good drinks, servers are outstanding! My only downside was that they removed my favorite menu item. They had the best steak tare tare in town and to my disappointment it was no longer on the menu. All the other food was delicious though!
Alexis Ward
Very very cute spot. $4 oysters on HH ($5 on regular) seems high, but for the spot I get it! Would consider coming back, but it's not your locals only spot!
Natasha
After reading great reviews about Westward, I squeezed it into my itinerary during our trip to Seattle. We arrived without reservation and were sat right away (it was early evening on a Sunday). We opted for outdoor seating which made it nice to enjoy the weather and overlook the water. We started with oysters which were overpriced for their quality and taste. For $3.50ea these oysters were just fine. They came with lemon and an extremely basic vinaigrette. They also could have been cleaned up a bit better as I kept getting some of the grit in my mouth.
For the entree I got the Halibut on couscous. I haven’t had couscous like that before but it was very good as was the fish.
By the end of our meal we each had a drink we wanted to enjoy and asked to get moved to the lawn chairs by the water but were told there was a 30 min wait time even though we saw multiple chairs that had been free for quite some time. Our interaction with the staff at this time was unpleasant. The girl at the front stand came off quite rude.
Max Soi
Excellent brunch with great views outside. Oysters are fresh. Dutch baby was fluffy and well presented. Chorizo was delicious - I liked the cumin which makes it taste like Chinese BBQ. Bread was fresh and jams and butter were high quality. A bit expensive.
Meltem Sari
The food was delicious, especially the oysters. The server was friendly and patient with my friends. Thanks again! However, the heating wasn't sufficient, and we were a little cold, but they told us ahead of time about that. It was our fault. If you are going to wintertime, get your blanket.
Sarah Thomas
Food is always amazing everytime I come here.
Shae Hurst
Great ambiance and good covid setup in the covered deck area. I stayed warm the entire evening. The cocktails and oysters were great. I think in general the food is just okay, but the space is beautiful, and the view is to die for.
Kyle Dahl
Overall: Delicious? Yes. Expensive? Yes.
The good: The food was fantastic all around. Quality oysters, very interesting burrata with balsamic drizzled on top of crunchy bread, and clams served in an incredible broth that we soaked our bread in. The patio offers a great view out to the dock and, on chillier nights, they have a fire pit to cozy on up by.
The not-so-good: $90 for 4 oysters, two glasses of wine, and 2 apps of burrata and clams. It really wasn't that much food, and honestly I left hungry.
Food/drink: 8/10
Atmosphere: 8/10
Service: 8/10

Bottom line first: beautiful restaurant located directly on Lake Union offering an array of seafood and other specialities for brunch, lunch, and dinner. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
There aren't many places in Seattle where you can sit directly on the water. At Westward, you can sit on Lake Union next to a fire and enjoy food and beverages that the restaurant has to offer.
The scenery and restaurant decor aren't the only things Westward has to offer. The food is great too. We came for brunch, which was great. The bloody Mary's were great and the oysters were fresh and served with a bright mignonette. The asparagus salad with poached salmon and lentils was our favorite. The lamb bolognese with fresh pasta and a fried egg was to rich and delectable. The avocado toast was good, but slightly overwhelming with egg/yogurt/etc that took away from the fresh avocado.
Overall, I very much liked Westward and am excited to go back to try the dinner fare or sit next to the fire during the summer and enjoy the view.
George Mulligan
Early dinner last night. A bunch of lip smacking, carefully shucked oysters, capped by an intensely flavorful Hama Hama clam preparation; simple, delicious, perfect! Warm hospitality, matched only by views of downtown towers, glowing in the sunset. Memorable in all regards.
Shelley Zhang
Great restaurant with lots of outdoor seating. The octopus salad was my favorite followed by the asparagus. Would highly recommend on a sunny day. Dress code is casual.
Nina Fitton
Best meal I've had in ages - their brunch was excellent, and their covid setup is great - covered, with heaters and waterside views. Loved it
Dylan
Local fare with a focus on seafood at a beautiful Lake Union waterfront location. Well crafted drinks, oyster shucking bar with lessons, and perfectly cooked rotating menu always satisfies. Service is on point. The outdoor patio and dock to moor your boat when visiting, is one of the most unique experiences in Seattle.
Kris Chen
Great view to the Lake and of course, good food and wine! Can just stop by have some drinks with fresh oysters during day time or evening. Few food selection but taste fantastic.
Katie Zeleski
Westward is always a home run. Great drinks, delicious oysters, brunch, dinner, you name it. Staff is friendly and helpful.
In nice weather, the patio is incredible - right on the water, great views, open air. In cooler, damper weather, seats by the wood - fired oven allow you to watch the amazing chefs work their magic. Perfect for a fancy date night. Can't recommend this place enough.
Casey Scoular
Food was good! The things that really jumped out to me were the clams (the broth is amazing, definitely order bread with it) and the oysters were great as well!
Corbin Nakamura
Checks all the boxes for a great time, especially in the summer. Just talkin brunch here but all tasty with an awesome view. Oysters were great. I also got the smoked fish salad (black cod) which was full of flavor. Cornbread and polenta were also delish. Laid back atmosphere and fun place to go with friends. Had to do 4 stars only because it's tough to match a NYC bagel

Have been coming here for years and have always loved the food and ambience/experience. My boyfriend booked reservations for Valentine’s Day because of this, and read that if we made reservations we wouldn’t be sitting outside. Wrong. We ended up sitting outside in the tent, surrounded by a cool breeze, tables squished next to us so we couldn’t converse, and electrical cords. The food was very good. Certainly not the best I’ve experienced here, but at the end of the day when you pay $175 for 2 people, you expect a far better setting (they charge based on food and operating costs). We came specifically for that experience, and to not even be able to enjoy the time we spent in getting dressed up because we stayed in our coats for dinner was a disappointment to say the least. For the experience we got, any $75 restaurant experience would have been the same. I would highly encourage more transparency in reservation setting from the restaurant. And maybe a slightly friendlier host. Our server, however, was wonderful. Also, be careful where you park, since their lot can fit like 8 cars. We ended up fining a local trying to break into our car after being there an hour. Wouldn’t recommend coming here for a special night.
Vinny Squillace
Great view of South Lake Union coupled with good cocktails and some tasty food. The selection is a bit tailored so not a ton of options, but everything you could want from a seaside seafood inspired place is there. I would come back just for the herb salad - it was so fresh!
Claire Carlson-Jurich
Elaine and Chelan made our night so special! We were there for dinner for a 30th birthday and they were so wonderful and thoughtful and accommodating of our special requests! Thank you ladies for making it an unforgettable night!
Aye Cee
Good food and drinks with a lovely view and good service. I do wish there were a few more non-seafood options, but everything we ate was really good. If you order the tomato tartine, get some poached eggs, potatoes, and bacon with it. It's super good together and makes a nice meal. I also appreciate being able to bring my dog to the outside area. I'd definitely come back, but ride share there or walk because the parking situation looks not fun.
Charles Lamb
Great lettuce gems (excellent seasoning) and scallop ceviche. Chickpea fritters with mushrooms was excellent.
Pankaj Patel
The only thing good about this place is the location being on the water, the staff was very responsive as every staff member serve all tables so there is always someone checking up on you, food came fast and drinks were great. The things I didn't like is there is no parking, food is very expensive as compared to other similar places, they share tables with other guests so you don't get your own table (we were party of 3) and all the wait staff had little attitude and definitely not friendly. We were here for early dinner on Saturday in June when weather was amazing.
Vlad Orlovskii
Fiancés and I favorite restaurant in WA. Everything on the menu is perfect! From the duck legs, to the bone in pork loin, all the oysters, to the fingerling potatoes. If I could give it 10 starts I would!
My complaint is to the City Of Seattle(wish I could tag them) And I feel so sorry for Westward to have to deal with this.. but the RV/homeless situation outside of Westward is absurd. I would personally donate to Westward to have them get more concrete blocks and tow all those broken down RVs and filth that's outside their establishment. Employees can't park, customers can't park.
I love you Westward! Sorry you have to deal with this.
Sydney Ferbrache
Mario is the BEST! We have been here several times and he always remembers our faces and says hi. He chats for a bit and is so personable. The food is great and the vibe is good. But Mario makes this place amazing! So thank you to him!!
Deejay C
Food was good but we had to battle the mosquitoes while at it. Cocktails was on point.
Arnold Lai
Great selection of oysters if your doing the patio deck The chairs aren't the best for eating but for drinks they are great great. So tell them you want regular bar seats if your eating. (2020 heat dome devastated local populations so a lot of Massachusetts oysters... Go Red Sox)
Maxx Goldstein
Been here twice and feel compelled to write a review considering how fantastic the food service and atmosphere is. Unique restaurant, the people are lovely.
Mattison Hain
Great date spot, especially if you get seated out on the patio! It can be a little expensive but worth it.
Samuel Owens
A lovely Tuesday night out. The oyster selection was so fantastic. And with such excellent staff, I will be visiting again!
Tuğçe Zor
Best oyster selection, best potatoes, best service, friendly and attentive staff, everything is perfect! Don’t understand the 4.4 rating, it is at least 4.9
Jannabeth Bannister
1st time here! Had a drink outside for HH with coworkers. It wasn't sunny, but it was manageable as there was a fire pit! Service was slow, as you had to wait till a server stopped by to order your drinks or food. You can't just go in and order. On a sunny day this place will be busy!!
Nouvion Fanny
We had an amazing diner there a few months ago, I'll make sure to come back next time I'm in Seattle
Aleks Kisielius
Went with some folks that were disappointed with the portions (too small). That said, EVERYTHING was excellent. Maybe not a go-to spot for most folks ($$$), but great Mexican-themed seafood option if you want to celebrate a special event.
Kimberly Rizzo
Love this place, especially for brunch. Highly recommend getting several dishes and splitting amongst your group. We got the pastry of the day, breakfast sandwich, Dutch baby, and baked beans. Everything was so good - hearty and delicious!
Christopher Anderson
I'd bet that I would have had a great time even if the outdoor seating and hottest-part-of-the-day beating sunlight hadn't turned up the intensity. Clearly a place to be scene venue; we were up-dressed for Anniversary and hardly even stood out among the eye-catching crowd.
Devon Palmer
I wish I would have came here during warmer days so I could sit on one of their lounge chairs and watch the boats go by. Other than that this restaurant feels very true to Seattle, unlike all the shallow Amazonian spots that are popping up all around SLU. The menu is consistent with PNW dishes. The service was perfect, our server came by just at the right times, and was very efficient, it never felt like I had to pause when someone walked by, everything was very seamless. The portion sizes were actually a lot larger than I would expect for a place like this, which is a huge plus, you don't feel like you're paying a fancy price for an uncomfortably small dish. This place is a must try for Seattle restaurants.
Maddie Oakley
We had a perfect Seattle late spring dinner at Westward. Our food was perfect, the views were unparalleled, and the service was wonderful.
We ordered: Seafood tower (everything was delicious), crispy duck leg, halibut, fingerling potatoes, bread, and cheesecake. Everything was delicious.
Raj Ajrawat
Not your typical "by the water seafood spot". Killer views and equally great seafood (looking at you rainbow trout, pork panzella, rigatoni). You will most likely need a reservation but if you have to wait just grab a drink down by the dock and soak up the view of downtown Seattle.
Cheyenne Gillooly
Stroller/baby friendly !!! Get the house made chips & oysters. Staff all seem to be really enjoying themselves too. Happy people
Darren Mosier
Excellent service and staff. Honestly can't say enough about that. Food choices are some what limited but the food was well prepared. Great views from outside. We did have to sit at a communal table which initially was fine, then a "hey look at me" couple sat down, I'm actually shocked at how shallow these two were.
mischa jakupcak
We love westward! There are captains portraits on the wall. The restaurant interior is impeccably designed. We love getting the option to sit inside privately or on the covered deck area ‘European style.’ It reminds me of living in a Wes Anderson movie. The service is delightful and they will provide coloring pages and crayons for entertainment. These photos aren’t from the restaurant- just pictures I’ve taken randomly over the past few months.
Jenny Mandl
AMAZING oysters, you can arrive here by boat if you want and the eggs Benny blew my mind. Everything was great and you can sit right on the waterfront. I’ll be back again and again
Paul Rico
Went the for brunch and got the breakfast sandwich. The staff was friendly and helpful and the location is awesome. The sandwich wasn’t that great though. There was a lot of bread for the amount of eggs that were in the sandwich and it was a little bland. OH, the potatoes were AMAZING though! If I were to ever go back I think I would do something along the lines of seafood.
Harris Yahya
I actually saw this place on the show "F***, That's Delicious", and I knew I had to stop by when I visited Seattle. It was everything I could hope for. Amazing location and views of downtown, excellent service, and of course outstanding food. I especially loved the breakdown of the oysters, all locally caught. I loved my experience here and would recommend it to all.
Joe Scanlan
What a great, relaxing place to chill out and pass a Sunday afternoon. Right on the water. With a really nice view of downtown Seattle. Food is great. Wine options are aplenty.
The pickles are very tasty. Chips and fish dip is very flavorful. I also had the fish Benedict with a side salad. The eggs were perfect. Very very yummy.
I would highly recommend Westward for both the food and the great location to just chill.
Little Byte
Went to a private event here and I can't wait to go back for regular dining. Service was very friendly, cocktails were delicious! You can't beat the views you get here. Love the outdoor set up of choosing a table or a large lawn chair to sit at and enjoy yummy food and cocktails. Establishment very clean and well organized. Parking is a little bit of a nightmare of only reverse angle on a busy road, but worth it.
Tegan Tigani
Fabulous lakeside dining! Although if you don't like seafood, maybe it's not quite as perfect... We love sitting outside by the water with a glass of rose and some local oysters. Hospitality is always wonderful and food is always fresh and delicious. I was also in awe of how many potatoes they served in the side of fingerling potatoes!
Ted M
Great brunch selections, good portions, excellent Caffe Vita coffee. Has a great view of the water on Lake Union. This is the smoked salmon Benedict that comes with a huge salad.
Garrett N.
Great views of lake union and the city and a nice happy hour offering of drinks and local bites, including a good selection of oysters.
Can Comertoglu
Nice ambience, absolutely unbeatable view, especially on a sunny day. It’s one of the few places in Seattle where you can be outside and enjoy the water while having good food.
However one constructive criticism might be that what they call a seafood tower only has two stories; and I don’t believe anything that says two stories should be called the tower. Maybe seafood condominium? Maybe seafood townhouse? But definitely not seafood tower.
Madison S
I genuinely do not understand the hype for this place. From the get go I had a bad impression since you have to park next to a camp of RVs along a road that is not very walkable. The oysters were good and entrees were good, but not excellent or worth their value. They were overpriced for the bland flavor and lack of variety in the meal. The overall environment is also uncomfortable. It’s supposed to have a gorgeous waterfront view, but this is blocked by the docked party boats. The bathroom is weirdly visible in the restaurant so you can see the toilets from your table, with no door or curtain separating the hand wash area. The tables are uncomfortably close together so it feels like you’re sitting in the lap of the neighboring table. I usually don’t give bad reviews, but for the $200 I spent there last night I think it’s worth it to warn others to take the hype with a grain of salt. This place is overrated.
Joanna Sylwester
Beautiful outdoor space right on the water and the folks working there are exceptional in every way. I thought the food was a little too high of price for the quality, but will be back for the great cocktails and view.
Stan Smith
OMG... This restaurant is a must do on your Seattle list
The food could be terrible and it would be worth the visit because of the ambiance and views. But, the food is outstanding and only topped by the service. Dinner choices are a little limited but I guarantee you'll find something that you will love. Do not miss it
Geoff Locke
Sat at the chefs table and had one of the best resturant experiences of my life. The cooks and the wait staff were spot on with their recommenadations. It will be hard to top this one. The trout asparragus and gagainto beans were to die for.
Caleb Osborn
Amazing views and even better food. Highly recommend the finger potatoes, roasted duck and the ribs.
Peter Anderson
Westward offers complimentary moorage for guests arriving by boat. The outdoor Adirondack chairs, fire, and dining area have great views across the ship canal and Lake Union to downtown Seattle. Inside is a full bar and more dining space decorated in a cute, kitschy, nautical style. I visited for brunch, and the food was okay but nothing to write home about. Service was slow and a little inattentive which I only point out because there is a mandatory service charge added to the bill. This brought brunch for 4 to over $200.
Nate Stevens
Stellar views, great oysters ordered from least to most briny right there for you on the menu, great service, and really spectacular cocktails (Paranubes? What?! Holler!). My favorite spot for oysters in town! 🦪
Ariana Honavar-Hiro
I've been to Westward multiple times since moving to Seattle and each time our experience is better than the last. They have great food, amazing drinks and wine list, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. To top it off it comes with an amazing view of Seattle.
Morgan
Enjoyed the views from the Adirondack chairs looking over the lake! The chips and dip was delicious and service was top notch. Would definitely recommend.
Kim Smith
Great location! We enjoyed the oysters, cocktails and dinners; the crispy duck was moist. Two of us had the halibut, which seemed like a rather small portion but nicely done, and the salmon special. The service was efficient. Overly efficient. Our waiter spent approx. 10 seconds tops, and rarely ever gave us a chance to add anything or ask a question. But overall a very good experience. Nice views of Lake Union from the two large deck dining areas. Parking can be an issue.
momo
Came here with a friend for a light meal. Under the Bridge Pina Colada was delicious, I wish it came in a bigger glass with less ice. The oysters here are fantastic! Service was exceptional and the view outside was nice. This is one happy fish.
Ashley and Jordan
One of my absolute favorite places in the city! Ambiance and views that are unparalleled. Enjoy Lake Union from adirondack chairs surrounding a fire pit!
Megan Elston
An awesome pre NYE happy hour to celebrate our anniversary. They were awesome. Oysters were fantastic, bean and squid salad was also amazing and good drinks, too. We were outside in their covered, heated tent and it was lovely. Can't beat the view!
Aubree Duncan
Amazing dinner. Loved the marinated geoduck, caviar, and the oysters were so fresh. Would definitely recommend checking out if you are a seafood lover. Unfortunately way to cold and snowy to enjoy the amazing views.
Ron Doering
I've been here twice now. It's great having a place right on the water, and the view is wonderful. The unique cocktails were awesome, and all very well done. Where this place is lacking is the food to price value. The first time, we spent $500 for 3 people with cocktails but no wine. For that spend,I expect a truly great dining experience. The seafood tower was mediocre at best. Oysters were good (but really.... they're oysters, they should be good) but the rest of the tower was just okay. The halibut was very good, short ribs were okay, the vegetarian option was pretty good, as was the clam dip. So most things were just..ok. The second time, split a dozen oysters with friends, an order of chips, and mineral water. My share of the bill was $70. Prices like this are justified if you've got the best food in town to complement your view... but they don't! So I would say definitely come for the view and have a cocktail, but eat somewhere else.
Michael Natkin
Beautiful restaurant, right on Lake Union. Sexy space but always busy so it can feel rather impersonal. Good cocktails, good small plates, always plenty of vegetarian options.
Nabeela Chaudry
Food and service was excellent, and the outdoor dining setting was beautiful!
Michael Jarboe
Oysters were spectacular both times I’ve been, but the overall menu can be a little hit or miss. There are excellent dishes, but they miss opportunities with other mainstays on their menu. The $6 bread, may be freshly prepared, but it lacks depth and the butter it comes with needs salt to shine. Similar story with the dill dip as freshly fried potato chips are unsalted and paired with a dill dip that has no other flavors than dill and bland cream. Really enjoy this place, but I wish they would make adjustments to some of their mainstays to match the quality of the rest of their offerings.
H. Stella Park
The whole trout and pot de creme were tasty. The beef tartare was greatly lacking in beef. And the chips and dip, while good, needed better attention to detail when frying the chips. There were clumps of chips stuck together that were crispy on the edges, but soggy and underfried in the center... gross.
Liam Bolling
Really great food. The pork was a bit cold which was odd but the rest of the food and drinks were amazing. The view is insane!
Leigh Momii
Go here for the view lakeside on Lake Union, paired with either oysters or share a few plates with a friend. Great for also have a drink on their relaxing patio on the waters edge.
andrew leask
food and drinks are great. get the Billy's tomato salad if it's in season. a bit on the pricey side but you can't beat the view of Seattle
Cam
Everything was amazing! Oysters, Octopus salad, bean dish, and braised lamb shoulder.
Philip Corriveau
Amazing food and service.. coupled with a great view of Seattle city
Daniel Tuttle
Exquisite food and service. Perfect Seattle setting with views of the city from North Lake Union.
The kitchen made me a ceviche dish with scallops, pickled rhubarb and pink peppercorns, which wasn't even on the menu. It was stunning.
Also had a raw octopus dish which was equally amazing. Friends had perfect clams, and two shared desserts were perfection.
Sol Bahng
The fried oyster po boy was pretty good. Everything else was just ok. Also had the dill dip potato chips, some kind of sausage that was strangely sweet, some kind of peach pastry thing, and crispy fingerling potatoes. I wouldn't avoid the restaurant, but I won't make an effort to go again. I know this is mostly an oyster place and can't give a fair assessment on their oysters.
Michael Rodrigues
Pure high quality seafood restaurant. Very few non-seafood options. No AC in the building. Beautiful view from the decks!
D. Andrew Gambel
I've been here several times, but each time it has gotten slower. For the price, there are simply way better places in Seattle with equally nice locations. I probably wont be returning anymore unfortunately
Stacey Moore
Great view. Staff are sweet. Clientele are snooty and douchey. Food is ok, but really overpriced. I had egg salad toast and it was just ok, but very small portion for the price. The spicy clam dip was disgusting. The oysters were great, but ask for the price. IF I went back, I'd just have some oysters and drinks.
Hannah Yang
The clams were sooooo goooooood. Everything else was great too and I love the decor. Can't wait to come back!
Mike Schmidt
We really enjoyed our experience here. We pulled up to the dock with our dingy and tied up. Took a walk on the nearby trail while we waited 30 minutes for a table. Did not order the multitude of oysters available but loved the pan seared halibut and manila clams.
Wesley Lo (Sweetnlo)
Great location for a celebratory event and getting drinks on the water. Food is great while can be a little spendy. One of my favorites for a warm sunny day in Seattle.
Christine Newman
Beautiful spot on the water w/ excellent cocktails and a delicious although somewhat pricey crab roll.
Logan
Oysters on point. Spicy clam dip amazing. Staff were amazing.
Frank Tupas
Loved this place! It's right on the water. Has a fire pit. Great staff. Great drinks! They're close to where my friend lives so we stopped by for a quick drink. Only food we ordered were the house made chips & dip. The dip was tonnato & capers. So good!! Appreciate the service as when we were out of chips the server immediately brought us more without a request from us. Appreciate that kind of service. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Seattle for dinner
Manuel Reyes-Gomez
They focus on oysters, which we are not big fans of, but they still have different great options, I had the duck which was fantastic. Drinks were good and strong, view is amazing and staff is very friendly
Emily Neuman
Favorite place in Seattle. Always make sure to stop by for dinner when I'm visiting! Great service. Great food. Great views.
Sarah P
Came here for dinner and had a mixed experience. We got 4 dishes total (2 small, 2 large) as well as a few drinks. The drinks were good and strong, albeit overpriced. 2 of the dishes we got (large clams and clam dip) were awesome and absolutely worth the price tag. The other two (baked oysters and spare ribs) were an absolute rip off. $24 for 3 skimpy ribs with nothing but broth and no veggies or anything?? Total came out to $140 (not including tip) and I just feel like it wasn't worth it.
Cristina Buenaventura
Amazing spot! Incredible view of the Seattle Skyline- definitely recommend checking it out for a sunset dinner.
The service is absolutely incredible. Everyone who stopped by was super personable, helpful, and made sure we were all set up for everything we needed.
CRISPY DUCK LEG : Salsa Roja, Turnips, Chard, Cherries
- Duck was super tender and well seasoned and the Salsa Roja had a nice kick. We ended up dipping our SeaWolf bread in it!
HAMA HAMA MANILA CLAMS : Saffron Broth, Watercress, Toast, Aioli
- Holy cow, this dish is my fav! The aioli on the bread that you dip into the broth is total 🔥, y’all. And the clams in the saffron broth, stahhppp 😻
HALIBUT CEVICHE : Pickled Red Onion, Avocado, Tarragon
- YUM! Citrusy, a little bite from the pickled onion, and creaminess from the avocado in every bite. It’s also served in a scallop shell. Beautiful presentation!
OYSTERS : Rotating Selection
- They list their oysters from sweetest to briniest, which is super helpful. I tried four different kinds- some were meaty and sweeter and I ended with my fav- small and briney.
The cocktail menu is creative and everything I’ve tried on there is delicious! Last time, Dan made us some incredible dealers choice cocktails that we LOVED!!
Elly Mioduszewski
Good food and atmosphere once on restaurant grounds
Lane Kuhlman
I drove past this this little gem many times and didn't even know it was hiding there. I went the first time last week because a coworker invited me out to meet them. I really love the cocktails and it has a spectacular view of Lake Union. Parking is somewhat limited.
Anthony Garcia
Great seafood and ambiance for a fun enjoyable dinner. Drinks on the water while waiting or even just to take in a nice sunset is worth it. The cocktails are imaginative and delicious. Great views of downtown compliment the detailed decor inside and outside. Parking is a little tight so arriving early is suggested otherwise you will have to park down the road.
Bella
Great ambiance, we were asked to sit at the bar (we had a reservation) because they were really booked, not ideal and might be bothersome for others especially as it was a Wednesday, but it was still enjoyable for our twosome!
Jill W
Great wait staff and bartender and oysters and small plates and view and and and...
Sarah Schafer
Incredible experience
Service and food really exceeded our expectations! Location is also just lovely. Knowledgeable staff with a real passion for making guests feel welcome and well cared for. 🥂
Cynthia Lepore
Food was good, but seemed a bit on the pricey side. Also, they made us wait for our table in the beach area that no one cleans up (really strong smell of Goose droppings). Lastly, they had cocktails for 2 to go while we waited for our table, but didn't give us a way to share the cocktail.
Paul Richardson (TheHomeWizard)
Flavorful salad,
Great wine, halibut, oysters (of course) views!!
Dock!
Amanda Doss
A local favorite for evening wine and oysters. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, don't hesitate to ask for recommendations. The setting is my favorite though, right on the water with boats and lights. Fire pits and heaters when it's cool.
Jj Del Carpio (jjdelc)
The views from here are great! Definitely bring someone here to impress them and show them a great view of Seattle nearing sunset. Just for that it's worth it.
Service is great, they gave a fine wine selection but I'm a simple guy of burgers and wings. I wasnt fond of their very limited food menu and this place is a weird place to just get a coke. So come here for a lemonade, city line views and later go to the place next door for a good chowder!
Russell G
Great restaurant! Was there only for 30 minutes, unfortunately, so couldn’t try more things, but from what I had - the chef there is a virtuoso! Very friendly staff as well.
Alex Stapleton
Unbelievably good! Great views and great food...
Brenda Frost
They've converted the beach pit to covered decks good for year-round dining. Mother's day brunch was great. Clam dip with home made chips had me all but licking the bowl for the last bits
Henry Friedman
Excellent selection of oysters. Order yourself a bottle of rosé and you’ve got yourself romantic summer night with the laydee :)
Charles McMicking
Had a delicious dinner here. Fantastic food by the water with a buzzy atmosphere. Fresh oysters- roast octopus and fresh halibut. It was a wee bit warm watching the chefs at work but well worth it to watch it all happen. Not cheap but good value for money.
Benja
I've been here three times over the course of three years. Views are spectacular, but the service is bad to the point of being memorable. The servers have the enthusiasm of a boiled clam. The oysters and muscles are tasty though.
Edgard Delgado
Great food, great location, great attention, not that great custom requests.
Brian Arnold
The location is great. We sat outside and had a beautiful view of Lake Union. The food and drinks were excellent as well.
Ryan Duffy
Love the atmosphere, vibe, and open plan!!!! The waterfront seating is beautiful. You just can't beat sitting in Adirondack chairs with s beverage stating at the water with the city skyline.
Barbara Ballard
Beautiful view of the city. But $50 for two drinks and six slices of cheese seems steep.
Claire Coppola
Went here with family to celebrate graduation and had an amazing time. Ambience and views are wonderful. Happy hour oysters were delicious. Lamb was the best entree I’ve had in years. They don’t offer too many dishes, because they do what they offer perfectly. Our server was polite, friendly, funny, and even brought us an extra dessert on the house to celebrate. Will absolutely be coming back here with my friends.
Robyn Fisher
The food and cocktails were phenomenal. The halibut. The spring onions. The bread and butter!! Oh and I'll be dreaming about that strawberry cheesecake for a while. I don't even like cheesecake but that was incredible.
Green Monkey
They have beach seating where you face the water which is great on a sunny day. Possible that you're going to wait quite some time if it's a popular day just because the seating is reminiscing of a warmer climate resort type seating for part of the waterfront patio area. Inside is cute. The bartender that served me today has also worked at some of the other Rene Erickson locations and has always been really super nice. I love her themes for the restaurants. Great food. Had the lamb hash for brunch.
TheJusticeCluster
Fantastic food! Do yourself a favor and get the heirloom tomatoes. The wood fired chicken was mouthwatering and the cocktails are well mixed and interesting! Pleasant atmosphere right on the water. We will definitely be coming back!
Karen Emery
love love this restaurant - especially on a sunny afternoon! please just BEWARE of the parking situation as there have been items stolen from cars and people along northlake way.
Alison
Great space and setting! We went years ago after they first opened and had a lovely time, tried to go back 3 times but they were closed for various reasons so we finally made it back. We sat at the bar on the left (not sure what the difference is between the 2). Small but perfect oyster selection. Nice variation of wines. Cocktails are solid. The chips & tonnato dip is addictive. Will have to come back some day and have more of a meal.
Megan Ellison
Amazing view. They have awesome Adirondack chairs that overlook the water on the patio outside. Its kind of a weird setup as that area doesn't have tables but they use the arms to put your beverages and plates on. Good selection of oysters and drinks. Drinks were great, very refreshing. The place is a little pricey, but its to be expected with the location. They also have indoor seating an patio tables. If you're feeling really fancy you can park your boat on the dock and walk up.
Roya Habibi
This is a must do in Seattle... ESPECIALLY on a sunny evening. If you can catch a reservation on their Adirondack chair seating, you'll be lucky and have such a pleasant experience! I unfortunately have never been ahead of the game enough to make that reservation, but it looks dreamy. The food is really unique, though typically smaller portions. Try out their homemade chips - the dip usually changes based on the season - because they are scrumptious. If you can catch a seat at the bar, you can keep an eye on the open kitchen and obsess over their well run service. The bartenders are also very friendly!
This is a MUST DO in Seattle -- if only for the amazing views -- but the prices are good considering the view and the food is also great.
Cody Walters
Wonderful. Perfect setting. Service intentional in a good way. Food delicious.
Brianne Burnett
Had a wonderful evening on the patio. Our waiter, Dan, went above and beyond in providing amazing service. He made great recommendations and it’s clear he’s passionate about his work!
Erica Gustafson
Stopped by Westward for dinner with a friend at 5:45pm on a Saturday. We put our name in with the host and was told we would be at about a 20 minute wait. We went inside to grab a drink and were surprised to see 8 open seats at the bar and multiple empty tables. When we sat down at the bar, the bartender explained these were reserved seats and we needed to check in with the host. When we tried to order a drink he told us we should go to the outside bar. After a 20 minute wait we were able to order our drink. The poor gal behind the bar didn't seem to know how to work the register, hence the wait. We ordered our $12 drinks which were worth the wait. After 40 minutes of waiting our table was ready which ended up being a few chairs outside. We waited another 15 minutes before our server came by to take our order. We were pretty hungry by then so ordered our drink and food at the same time. The food was really good though it took about 40 minutes for our dishes to arrive and prices a tad high for the portions. I'd like to hope that tonight was an off night with timing, flow at the bar and service.
Jenn W
Great service, awesome atmosphere and location, delicious food. The service here is really spot on - they really take care of you! The decor is also amazingly spot on and I love the theme. The portions of food are actually bigger than I expected, so two appetizers and one entree for two people was more than enough food and everything was really well thought out and delicious. I'd definitely go back.
Aaron Schneider
Just a delightful experience. Food was wonderful and service was knowledgeable and friendly. Our party of 4 had several appetizers and entrees to share. The break even shot was fun. We ended with a lovely moment looking at the lake with blankets in the chairs.
Lawrence Ohab
For 4 months of the year, Seattle is heaven on earth. If you're going to eat at this time, this is the place to go. Fantastic for dates or for drinks with friends. Definitely be sure to order the potatoes! Sooo good.
Josephine Stratton
Love the ambiance here. Modern, nautical, relaxed yet upscale feel. It’s on the water with seating outside including a fire pit! The food is good, however there is no comfort, familiar food on the menu – you’re pretty much forced to try new things there are seafood yet lots of non-seafood options as well. Try some oysters as an appetizer. Parking is not too hard to find.
Serge Lobatch
Came here for brunch. Spot is super cozy, with great nautical themed decor, but designed in a way that doesn't make it feel kitschy. Also lots of different outdoor seating options, from benches around a fire pit, to Adirondack chairs, to regular tables. Great ambiance for a night-time or day date.
Food was tasty, and plating was really great. Price was a little bit on the high side, but the portions made up for it. Pretty great Bloody Marys -- not too much horseradish.
Rare
A little bit pricy but so good food and fresh people.
Dennis Kornbluh
Great location, excellent food. Oyster bar has a nice selection of local bivalves. Visited once, and the service was a bit slow. Good to get there for happy hour, if you enjoy a bargain. The lamb shoulder is the best thing on the menu, IMHO.
Jeremy Hawkins
Extremely good! First time I've ever had a meal worth taking a picture of.
Leo Ward
Good vibes, great oyster selection. Bit pricey but get a spot on the patio and enjoy the view.
Judy Manwill
We had a limited menu, which consisted of the majority of the items having clams. One salad did not, the Dungeness Crab salad, while the dressing was very tasty, there was maybe 2 little slivers of crab. The cost was $18, which isn't crazy, but come on, you charge for crab, give some crab!
Deborah Au-Yeung
One of my favorite restaurants in Seattle with great views of the city. Awesome cocktails, solid service. Oysters on the half shell, amazing bread and butter. Came for a work event - everything was delicious.
Brandon Surma
I put this place on my radar because of the view. Finally visited for NYE and even without the view it didn't disappoint. NYE was a pricey event but the food was exceptional. I will definitely be back.
Kelly Bennett
Four stars for the food, but the view takes the cake, so I had to bump it up to five. The food here is great, but I'm a bit of a snob. I really appreciate their oyster selection and gigantes beans. Also, they had a new chef come in some months ago, and I think the food got better!
Jenny Dooling
Great Dining experience from beginning to end.
I would highly recommend this Restaurant.
Views of downtown Seattle skyline.
The weather was nice so we sat outside they have outdoor fire pit.
Mahalo (thank you)
Patricia Lewis
Great location on north end of Lake Union. Parking not a problem. It was cold and rainy the night we were there but the outside seating area with beautiful city skyline view would be spectacular in warmer weather. Roasted vegetable appetizer was good. Halibut fresh and quite tasty.
Paul Saunier
We were greeted in a pleasant and friendly manner. With no table available we sat at the bar and it was a very pleasant experience, talking to the gentleman preparing the drinks for the restaurant.
The oysters were just excellent; very, very expensive though... The clams were very good, perhaps slightly overcooked. The black cod was just excellent, melting in the mouth; but the overall dish ... was so tiny! Tiny piece of cod and one tiny serving of beans... I was soooo hungry, that did not do it at all! I was saved by ordering bread (and butter) which was excellent. My wife ordered a desert, which was very good; chocolate and ice-cream. It was huge, with a huge amount of sugar and fat... With one glass of wine each, our bill was quite high. Are we going to go back? Maybe... it will not be a priority.
Tyler Lund
An excellent seafood place with great nautical atmosphere and a wonderful outside space overlooking the city. The staff was super friendly and helpful and gave me drink and oyster suggestions since I wasn't very familiar with them. The suggested Guinness, though odd sounding, actually went very well with them. The clams were also very good, especially the sauce. Would coke back just to sit on the lawn chairs by the fire and watch the city at night.
Mark Hancheroff
We love coming by boat to visit Westward. The drinks are great, and they have one of the best oyster bars in the area. We usually end up with 2 dozen oysters before we are through, everything is amazingly fresh. And you simply cannot beat the views. the outdoor beach chairs are amazing on a hot day with the best views of downtown seattle anywhere.
Warren Jackson
A highlight of Seattle, great place to take guests. It is one of the rare restaurants that has a view AND has great food. The happy hour oysters were a hit. It turned out to be a great place to take kids since there is a little waterfront area next to the restaurant where the kids can run around.
Morgan
Sat at the bar and the bartender made me the most amazing drink based on the previous drink I had. Food was also delicious. Loved the energy that the staff brought.
Eric Veal
Great location. Pretty high prices. Service can be hit and miss and the place also quite crowded. RV parking across the street is insane.
Ghaddra González
Beautiful spot, very good service, overpriced.
Elisa Lou
Had a really great brunch here last weekend. We had no reso but were able to get seats outside in the wooden chair area, perfect for groups of 2. Service was superb and it was great fun people watching. Some good photo ops as it's right by the lake. We got the Salmon Gravlax and the Smoked Fish Benedict, both were fantastic. We were too hung over to drink more, but the cocktails seemed popular. Would come back again during the summer.
Monica Adj
Cool location and decor. On the water with views of lake union and the parked boats. Great drinks that are super tasty. Love the olives. Most of the food is great but a few items are misses or let downs.
Maria Stoddard
This place was so delicious! I started off with some Clams and ordered the Halibut as my entree. It was one of the best meals I’ve had in awhile. Everyone else in my party thoroughly enjoyed their meals as well. 5/5 stars and would 100% recommend
Rachel Sager
Great atmosphere and excellent service...we ate "family style" so we could all try...phenomenal food and cocktails!
Sarah Brauneis
Went for brunch and got the savory polenta. Beautiful views of lake union. Good drink options. The quality of food was great but the serving size was a bit under what would leave me feeling satiated. Plan on buying some sides and small plates.
Gavin Lees
What a great find! A fun, nautical-themed restaurant by Lake Union that serves fantastic seafood (and landfood, too). The selection of oysters is extensive, and they even have a bar where you can see them shucked in front of you.
I loved the butter bean dish (topped with breadcrumbs and melted goat cheese) and the Arctic char that I had. Definitely need to return to sample more of the menu!
Kyle Givogre
Wonderful place… and food!
However, what I believe was butter that came to the table resembled more of a salt lick.
Salt lick • A place where animals can go to lick essential mineral nutrients from a deposit of salt.
Roger Knopf
Great view, friendly and fast service, nice brunch menu. My egg and sausage sandwich was a little bland, surprising given the roasted garlic aioli, and pretty hard to eat as a sandwich but had to be eaten that way to get all the elements in a bit, a little frustrating. My wife's scone with apple butter was awesome, as was the Caffe Vita drip coffee.
JP
A wonderful restaurant with a seaside vibe on North Lake Union. Besides the great scenery and friendly staff, this place has amazing food for brunch. I brought friends here who were in from out of town and they absolutely loved it. Will definitely be back. Highly recommended. Outstanding.
rowen wu
Nice meal and lovely wait staff. Just disappointed that the duck leg with aioli was a little too salty - I wish it had been served with some pureed sweet potato or veggies instead to cancel out the saltiness. The aioli just added to the saltiness instead of balancing it out.
Chris McQuillan
Beautiful spot, right at the North end of Lake Union. Food has always been very good. They have lots of Adirondacks out to enjoy the view across the lake to downtown Seattle. There is even a fire pit encircled with oyster shells. Nautical themed interior which is very comfortable. There is even a little market for items to go. There is a tour boat business nextdoor, so when a of their boats are in the view is a bit obscured, but still very nice.
Nathalie Cushing
Make a reservation, we did, but the guy in front of us was told it would be a two hour wait! Great ambience, more expensive yes, but for top of the line seafood I’m not at all surprised. Worth checking out for sure!
Hugo Mesenbring
Really good but tiny tiny plates and the bill always surprises you in a bad way.
Nika Cull
Delicious food, awesome view, love the fire pit outside. Four stars because it was a bit pricey, make sure you don't block the bike path if you park across the street. We saw several people get tickets while we were there.
Jen Nguyen
Really great brunch spot. A little pricey, but pretty good!
Matt Mead
An extremely unique outdoor dining experience. Ultra-northwest feel with your feet about as close to the waterfront as you can get. The food selection isn't exceedingly substantial but its good for some gourmet snacks while drinking your drinks by a fire.
Anne Clark
This is in a great spot, nice selection of oysters, and brunch was great! Plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the delightful view and sea breeze on a nice day. A bit pricey and the service was a bit slow.
Ignacio Barcinas
Brunch was good. Views were great. We had the lamb hash and mushroom polenta. My friend's coffee was super late but they only had one barista for brunch so it's understandable.
I need to go back and check them out when they have their fire pit going. ...unless that was just decorative. Overall, good first experience.
Matt Dolge
If you are a pescatatarian this will become a favorite place to eat in Seattle. The views are amazing but the food is even better. The bartender makes delicious well balanced cocktails. This place used to get a five star but since moving to a 20% tip included pricing the service seems to have become a little less personal.
John Larrick
Food was very good. Portions not huge, but I did not leave hungry. The outdoor seating looks great, but I was there on a cold, rainy night. A reason to come back. It was nice inside, but somewhat casual.
Mo O
My new Seattle favorite! The food is amazing, the bars are nice as you still see the outdoor view and full menu!! Good if you don't have a reservation. Outdoor adarondaks and fire pit is perfect for just drinks! Always crowded but not noisy. Good flow and juxtaposition to the lake. Kinda spendy but when you see the quality and care of food preparation you'll understand why! Try the manila clams, secret broth has Rainier beer!
Trina Miller
I always mark this as a must-do spot for travelers in Seattle because it's quintessential Seattle - you get to be down right on the water in Lake Union, cozy up to a fire pit or have a sunset cocktail in an adriondack chair, eat good food. It's pricey so don't expect a cheap meal, but a nice evening in the city literally steps from the water. Take the time - it's worth it. So many places to choose in Seattle. I'd suggest you stop by Westward for dinner. The menu is simple but each dish is put together with a ton of thought. Great views of the Seattle skyline (possible good sunset depending on weather). Nice area outside with fire-pit for after dinner.
Tom Gebbie
I'm not the biggest seafood fan but despite that, the lovely staff and location of Westward more than made up for it. This is a delightful spot to share cocktails, oysters, and dessert with company.
Aleks
Probably the best oysters in town. I've been to a lot of places around Seattle and this had the best variety. I also got the cod dish and the sauces that they used with it were amazing. The staff is very knowledgable about the menu and their wines. I have celiac disease and they made sure everything was the way I needed to be. If you haven't tried this place you MUST.
Paul Secord
Expensive but excellent Manhattan (the bar is high)
Erik Mercier
Great fish and seafood restaurant in the Wallingford neighborhood. Though the menu seem limited, we tried 6 different plates, small and large, and oysters, and nothing was remotely disappointing. Service was amazing; we sat close to the main bar, and the main bartender offered food recommendations, pairing suggestions and even threw in some freebies.
To get there: from downtown, using Uber, it took us less than 20 minutes to get to the restaurant.
Robert Gorini
Incredible view, great food, good cocktails.
Holly Brice
Westward is a very cool experience. Make sure to make a reservation a few day in advance, they have a cool fire pit you can sit at until you're seated and then the food is delicious. I got the trout and they removed the bones right in front of you so you get a little show!
Dan Loyola
Very good food, great service, awesome view
Scott Meis
Nautical vibe, delicious oysters, killer cocktails and a stunning view back on the city over Lake Union to boot? C'mon, too good. One of my favorite restaurants in town, hands down. Personal preference for grabbing a seat at the bar to watch the oyster shucking and small plate prep in action (not to mention great convo with the bartenders) followed by a nightcap next to the outdoor fire pit. Always a treat for date nights or group outings.
Carly Quill
This is a great place for seafood and shellfish lovers. Their drinks are also very good (Greek wines, good cocktails, local beers) and they've got a great outdoor fire pit (blankets available) for milder evenings from which you can see the Seattle skyline.
Madeleine Harrison
EDIT: The owner has reached out to me to work through this feedback together.

This was my first time coming here and I simply had the worst experience. Unbalanced drinks, curmudgeonly waiter and uncomfortable interactions. I’m only giving this place two stars for the awesome decor and incredible view.
My friends and I work extremely hard and we wanted to relax and enjoy the evening. I heard wonderful things about Westward and had read great reviews, but other people were lucky and didn’t experience what I did.
The second I sat down, I got the sense that the waiter had already applied a label to me and the talking down started.
I tried my friend’s cocktail (she didn’t like it) and it was unbalanced. My drink was the same story.
We wanted to be closer to the water. My friend noticed the spot in front of us opened up. We waited for the waiter to ask if we could switch but he hadn’t been by for 7+ mins. It sat empty and the seating seemed casual enough to where she wanted to try the whole “ask for forgiveness” thing and shift up a row. Immediately he ran over and tried to tell us that those people “hadn’t left yet”. I looked around at the empty drinks and devoured plates of food scrupulously—yeah right man, way to make it awkward. They hadn’t been there for almost 10 minutes. They were gone. Then he made us stand there like social pariahs as he “checked with the hostess.” Look, I get it, I felt bad. Moving is inconvenient and probably not a great thing to do to a waiter in general, but just go with the flow and try to give your best service regardless. He made it into an unnecessary ordeal.
I missed a meal that day because of meetings and was starving. I looked around for a menu and asked my friends. So when the waiter came by I politely asked. In an irked voice, “I already gave you one,” as he picked it up, but didn’t even hand it to me. Okay, I apologize for not seeing it, but come on, do you have to be rude?
Needless to say, I didn’t get food. I had enough of his curtness and I didn’t want to reward it with an even larger tip on the food. I gave a fair tip on the drinks and left.
I was so uncomfortable and my first experience was tarnished by bad drinks and a bad attitude.

My co-worker and I visited Westward while we were traveling for work last week. The experience we had there was top notch from the hosts to the GM, Austin, everyone was welcoming and extremely accommodating. The atmosphere of Westward leaves a lasting impression. An array of amazing dishes to choose from (beef tartare) and unique views from the shore created a perfect intro to the city. I highly recommend a visit!
Sean Henderson
The food! The view! The service! All top notch as you should expect from a place serving potato chips with a caper dip for $14.
Our group tried almost all of the "smaller plates" thanks to the happy hour pricing as well as a few larger plates. We had no complaints about the food and we were there on a perfect sunny Seattle day for the sunset. Not much could go wrong under those circumstances and that was true to form. On a rainy day, I might have been pained by our almost $300 bill for four people (admittedly, about 50% of that was beverages of the adult type.) but on this night, with great weather, amazing view, and great vibes from a mix of Wallingford downhillers, and urban hipsters, all was good.
Yessika Pantoja
My favorite place during summer!! Loved it. Great service!
Aparna Das-Caro
Great outdoor area! Yummy drinks and snacks. Reservations needed for dinner.
Courtney C. Pangrazio
This is my go to spot when I need to treat myself or a friend. The pork is always cooked perfectly and they have a great selection of local oysters. The view overlooking lake union is majestic to say the least.
Dan Cumberland
I don't know what I love more, the food or the ambiance and view. Both are phenomenal. If you're looking for a uniquely seattle experience, this is your best choice. The menu features great seafood and the view of Lake Union and the city are amazing.
David Elkins
This is a terrific restaurant choice on the shores of Lake Union, Portage Bay of Seattle, WA. Besides great cocktails, and enjoyed a superb trout dinner. The outdoor patio with fire pit is so relaxing, with panoramic views toward Seattle.
Matthew Beck
Went for brunch and was surprised by the portions. I thought it'd be too expensive and small plates. It's pricey but the food is great and there's way more than I expected. Great views and decor. Great staff! Thanks!
Jj McCarthy
Very great location. There is a short list of food options and it is somewhat pricey when you think about the options. Seafood options are great especially the clams (that opens up the amount of options but still same choice unless your a clam conessuier). Great area to get a drink and wait to be seated
Alan lechuga
Amazing experience! We had great service the stafe was very nice and helpful and the food was delicious. We would definitely go back again if we get a chance to fly out to Seattle again
Gromkey Blackwind (Acidiac)
$$$$$ yikes 500 for 4 humans. With, lots of drinks. Food is very good and so we're the drinks and staff and views and or friendly and.
Greg Eastman
I had brunch on a Sunday, about 50% busy. Service was very good and the food was delicious. My friend had the lamb hash and enjoyed it. I had the Dutch baby pancake and the farm eggs, both excellent.
Geoffrey Hall
Incredible experience. Best meal in Seattle by far.
We shared oysters, clams, octopus, tuna crudo, gravlax, rainbow trout, pasta, roast potatoes, cocktails, and a bottle of Oregon red wine. All delightful. Impeccable, discrete, friendly service. Simple as that.
Barbara Gulten
Sea(and)food lovers paradise! perfect setting with a low key setting, so come as you may; dressed up or down. Fancy and fun without being pretentious. Practically always busy so plan smart, don't risk getting hangry, ... otherwise settle in at the bar by the dock for couple drinks while you wait for a table. Great service, and the beach fire pit makes it even cozier. Haven't tried any dish I did not like yet... This is one of those rare spots where all elements come together to create magic; scene, food/drink, and people. Its on my replay!
Taylor K
It's gotten a little too bro infested. The oysters are second to none, but come with very high rent. Your definitely paying for the view, which may or may not be worth it to you. If your used to casual Seattle this place may weird you out a bit.
Jason Weber
Beautiful space, recently remodeled as well as having created a beautiful outdoor dining area for the pandemic. Gorgeous views of seattle and the water, a great spot to take in the city.
Carrie Jordan
Good gourmet oysters, small plates, cocktails. The times I have been there it has been very crowded. I like the outdoor area a lot, but it is hard to get a seat. I suppose the crowd goes to show how good the food is!
Beth Anderson
This is the most amazing food service I think I've ever had. The food is amazing but the servers do a fantastic job, and the view is one of the best in the city. You should absolutely take your best friends here 😍 …
Marc Moray
Excellent North Lake Union, waterfront, location; with an award winning view of downtown!
Dylan Holmes
Stunning views, great drinks selection, and yummy oysters. It can be a little expensive but the view makes it worth it!
Chaoran Yu
Very fresh oysters. Tried several flavors and all of them were so good! My trout was also fresh and well cooked. Friendly staff and convenient location.
Jesse Hart
A lot of places that have a great location and view rest on their laurels with the food. This place gets the food right too. It's some of the best seafood in the city.
Trevin Chow
I'm torn on this place. I love the location, service and views. The food is consistently good, but I've never loved anything I've eaten here except the raw oysters on the half shell (which are hard to not get right given Seattle's access to high quality shell fish).
Nixon VanJustice
Parking at Westward is challenging, to be sure. There is some back in angled parking along a dimly lit road. But once you get inside the food is absolutely to die for. The yellowtail crudu is a dish I am still thinking of nearly a week later.
The staff are all upbeat, but not annoyingly so, and neither hovered nor were they hard to track down. They were quick to refill drinks and ready with answers about the menu.
Outside there is a fire pit overlooking the water with a stunning view of the space needle.
Allie Carscadden
Great atmosphere, food was very fresh and appreciated a decent amount of vegetarian options for offering a limited menu. Would go back for the atmosphere before the food but my fellow diners loved the fresh oysters and lamb shoulder.
Eric Miles
What an amazing space and the food was phenomenal.
Vivian Ramirez
Definitely one of the best casual restaurants in Seattle. Awesome drinks, food, views, & vibes. Right on south lake union. Great for taking out of Towners, celebrating with a group, or dates. All around awesome!
Kelly Delahunty
The view is amazing.... the service and food always leaves something to be desired for where it is and the potential to be so much more. I consider it more of a drink place... even the appetizer menu is mehhh.
Court Lorenzini
Went there for brunch. Menu was small but tasty. Nice atmosphere. Great views and outdoor seating looking over Lake Union.
Elizabeth Martin
Good food, with a great view, and great cocktails. The menu is limited, and doesn't seem to change much, but it's worth it to go have a drink and oysters by the fire pit overlooking Lake Union.
Joshua Kaplan
Would have given higher review, but the a staff member (busboy I think) rolled his eyes when we politely asked for water (like this was an inconvenience). The hostess station could also use a lesson in professionalism as there seemed to be an abundance of people waiting around without any purpose while guests were waiting to be seated. I would recommend for the location, but not optimal if you are looking to be treated as though you are more than an inconvenience to the hostesses and busboy.
Jill F Russell
We stopped by on a cold winter day, but because it wasn't raining, we wanted to sit outside. The bartender put hot toddies in a thermos and grabbed a bunch of blankets so we could sit around their outdoor for pit. Lovely!
Jake Nessirio
Amazing place. This is not your typical 4+ star spot. This is on another level. Everything is perfect about this place. Fodd is amaizing, staff is attentive, atmosphere is magical. Beware! It can get pretty loud inside, so if you want a quiet place - try not peak hours.
Travis Cos
Service was very attentive and sophisticated. Menu was daring and views are great. Chef didn't quite stick the landing on their 180 degree somersault dishes, yet still very good
Uffe Hellum
Great service, beautiful food. Way overpriced, the food itself was good comfort food. Beautiful song on the nw corner of Lake Union. We were lucky enough to walk right in without reservation, and consistently treated by fast and friendly staff.
rtGreatness
great place! fantastic view and food is delicious.
service was good but the waiter wasn't anything to brag about
Hope Smith
Nice location and atmosphere. Mimosas were tasty. Firepit was nice. Brunch was overpriced for what you got and my partner's breakfast sandwich bread was burned.
Cait Riggs
I really want to love Westward. But at the price point for dinner, the indoor seating area was so loud we could not carry on a comfortable conversation and the outdoor seating did not have enough fireside seating. The food is of excellent quality, but the ambient environment was lacking.
Andrea Severson
Great views, and always packed. Good drink menu too. I can't say what the food is like as I've never eaten more than appetizers here.
Adam Luchsinger
Cozy and cool spot for drinks and seafood on North Lake Union with views of downtown Seattle. Great HH with apps, clams, and cocktails.
seung hong
Great little hidden gem, yacht club vibes, affordable food and drink, friendly staff.
Erin Youtz
Our anniversary meal was loud and squished between tables. Food was good, but I expected better after hearing such great things. There was a view outside, but we were inside. Expensive, not worth the cost.
Jen *
Gorgeous early spring day for Aperol spritzes and avocado toast.
Paul Hochman
Knowledgeable, fun staff, in an amazingly relaxing location. On the water at the north end of Lake Union with Adirondack chairs, oysters, great drinks and unrushed service. Brilliant date night location.
John Shih
One of my favorite brunch spots in Seattle. The place gets busy on the weekends, so make a reservation or go early to grab a seat outside on the Adirondack chairs that overlook the lake.
Stanton Maines
I love the fire pit and you can’t beat the selection of local oysters. Farm fresh menu and an unparalleled view of Seattle make Westward a winner in my book spring summer and fall. Kudos!
colin elliot
Great for a summer cocktail at the bar, with good service and quality oysters. For fine dining I'd consider elsewhere as the food doesnt meet expections/the competition.
Trevor Park
Love the new ownership, such a great new vibe and love the new bar/shucking area.
Thanks for making the day special!
Nick Tomlinson
Great good and lovely atmosphere by the lake. Do wish they had a little mor options for breakfast/brunch.
Jeremy Lambert
Vibe is legit PNW chill. The oysters were super fresh. We even busted an oyster cherry! They also have a kayak launch.
Taylor Black
Lovely seafood place right on the water. Incredible service, delicious food, thoughtful drinks.
James Wagoner
Very nice space. The interior is awesome with a sailing/Wes Anderson theme. Didn't think the food was too good though. Menu is somewhat small.
Josh Dale
Amazing food, amazing service, amazing location and view - if I could give 6 stars I would! Definitely will be back and would recommend Westward to anyone wanting a one-of-a-kind dining experience on the beautiful Seattle waterfront.
Carley Callahan
Victoria made sure our evening was extra special and the food and overall service was excellent. Thank you Westward team for a lovely dinner - we will be back!
David Olsen
Beautiful setting and excellent food. We sat in the chairs facing Lake Union and Downtown Seattle. The wait staff was wonderful. It was a bit pricey, though.
Katherine Lee
Loved everything about this place. The seafood is glorious: fresh and fantastic. Service was attentive and thoughtful, with particular regard for a vegan I or group.
brenda krusemark
Great food, waitstaff was fine. Drink prices were too high for what you got- mimosa flute filled half-full, Bloody Mary in old-fashioned glass
Ryan Carlson
Westward has nautical casual with class nailed. Right on the steps of Lake Union with beautiful views and an amazing patio area make this a must visit for date night or a HH with friends. Try everything!
Justin J.
Came for happy hour. The aperol spritz was refreshing and the oysters definitely hit the spot. Beautiful atmosphere.
Christopher Norwood
We arrived via boat and they served us right in the dock! The food was phenomenal and the service was even better. We will be back as soon as possible.
Christopher Rhoads
The atmosphere here is awesome, the food is excellent to boot. One of the top dining experiences in Seattle, the fact that it's on the water is just a bonus.
Erik Embervine
Best oyster happy hour. Oyster prep and selection very good. Sides and mains are very good too. Kid friendly as well.
Matt Lewczuk
The food is packed with flavor, the wine list is delicious and the Westward team is incredible. Highly recommend!!
steven wayne
Great food. Nice outdoor views of downtown and Lake Union. Excellent barriers from the prevailing winds from the south.
David Duff
Just a cool low key place. Sat on Adirondack chairs watching sunset over the needle.
The servers was so nice!
Debby Roth
Sat at bar given suggestions for wine and food. 2 of three small plates great and wine very nice
Fernand Ricard
Our new favorite place! Nuf said.
Jack
Great service, good food. Technically child friendly, but no high chairs.
John Volkman
Fun/nice location (was the Lakeside many years ago). Super busy most of the time. Expensive - paid $18 for a pretty ordinary glass of wine the other night - eighteen dollars!
Ilona Darek
Love this place. You need to have a car to get there but it's definitely worth taking a trip. The food was delicious a d them we cpuld chilled out near the lake.
Abby Lombardo
Small portions, full of flavor. Impressive spot.
Ben Narcisi
Great view. Great food. Get the Blue Pool Oysters if you get them. Also the scallops crudite was phenom!
Shuting Shao
The services is fantastic. Food was very good too. Nothing to complain!
Also - if you are cold sitting outside, they have blankets to lend to you!
Jeff Zanatta
Three words. Craig, the server!
Delicious, dynamic food with bright acid and fatty balance. Never miss the smoked clam dip.
Jonathan O'Driscoll
Great view and very good food. I enjoyed it. Recommended to me by a local who knows restaurants and she was right on. Great choice.
Melinda Issakov
This is my ‘go to’ Summer drinks place to catch up with girlfriends. We love to sit outside and watch the water. You might have to wait for a spot but it’s worth it. If you can get there earlier you have a better Chace.
Shannon Okeson
A group of ladies and I were there for dinner on February 10th 2018 and was very disappointed in the service. It was a busy evening there and looked like short staffed.
The food is very good and great views of lake union.
Yasir Alfarag
Lovely spot for a special occasion. Best in the summer days, but still exceptional year-round.
John Park
Good but expensive spot for a few drinks and oysters. A good place to talk and chill, but probably not a good place to have a real filling.
Konvi A
Great cocktail drinks , oysters, view, atmosphere, simply Great
Melinda Hall
One of our favorite places in the city! Excellent food, tentative staff, and killer view. Always somewhere we take out of town guests.
Sue Frause
Great spot in an Adirondack chair with sunshine, fresh local clams and a fabulous salad. Plus cool cocktails and wine. Fine.

Jessica Pfund
All the food we had was absolutely delicious. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Enjoyed our night out.
Mike Kelley
A very good place with great food. Location and facility are fantastic. My only not is the food could be slightly better. It was good, but maybe could be better.
Matthew Peterson
Great ambiance, great service. Probably more expensive that it deserves. Food is just okay. Nothing to complain about, but I expected better for the price. I guess you're paying for the reputation and the view.
Seattle Matt
Very nice location, boat parking available, however all prices are a bit outrageous, even a side salad is $14, and happy hour ends at 5.
Hamish Hill
The new deck is really well setup, the service is exceptional, as always, and COVID measures were non intrusive catering to a fantastic evening out. Thanks Team
David Patton
The bar was remarkably uncrowded on a Saturday night where all the tables were full. It's location limits door traffic. The staff was particularly cheerful and knowledgeable.
Anthony Maiocco
Sublime. Top quality appetizers, oysters, and entree. Be sure to try and catch their happy hour, though short, it's great value.
so yeon Pak

Amazing deals on oysters and variety during happy hour. Unique restaurant and one of the best in Seattle.
Jing Su 蘇敬智
Food was tasty and rich in flavor. Portion sizes generous. Personally found the food too salty; hence minus one star.
Chris Spurlock
Very good food and excellent views. It is of course expensive and reservations at any time are recommended, but it's worth it for a special occasion.
anne maria jacobson
Food was overall wonderful. Ambiance lovely. View outstanding. Bar, host and food service less than average.
Paul Keire
menu was eccentric and not so spectacular and a little pricy for what you get; in counter to this, the ambiance was nice to be right on Lake Union, especially if you can sit outside
Y D
Awesome brunch and drinks. The food options are uniquely interesting and the interior is super cute!
Christiana
No line for Sunday brunch at 1015; in fact, the place was shared with only a handful of other groups. (Food was also great!)
Jim Butler

The did was amazing and the service really good, but my friend and i had to wait almost an hour past our reservation time, and were not offered any compensation whatsoever.
