Reviews of Purple Cafe and Wine Bar
Team Ultimate Exposure William & Bug
So we stopped in here to have a quick drink after walking around and we took a seat at the bar. The young man at the front was very nice and had a great Pink Suit on. The girl at the bar was okay not to engaging but that is fine. We both had a different wine and then tried the Mac & Cheese which was amazing. As we looking around there was a lot of amazing food from the burgers to the salads. Then men sitting next to us had the braised ribs and OMG they smelled great. Those are a must try. Great wine Lise and the inside is beautiful

I haven't been here in a long time because my last visit was okay! Last night was absolutely a comeback! We came in at 9:30 pm (closed at 10 pm) and they were politely serving us. Our server has a fun, friendly, and energetic personality. Even though the restaurant closed he still take his time and manner to serve us without any rush. Every dish we had last night was delicious! Very favorable and fresh! I always love the atmosphere here. It has a classic nice romantic vibe. The price seems to be on the high side but again it is in Seattle so the living cost is much higher. The check had a presetting of 22% for the tip. You can adjust that to customize 20% or more. I usually don't tip 20% unless is extremely excellent service but I left it as is because I thought our server deserve it. Parking is hard but on a weekday evening is not too bad.

Good dinner before catching a play at the 5th Avenue Theater. Wine was good and food was excellent. Had risotto with ribs, and daughter had steak. Both were excellent and delicious. Prices are on the higher side, but not too bad. You can find decent wine for $50-60 a bottle. They have some expensive stuff too.

My applause to the atmosphere! Classy, impressive, and current. Love the wine tower, open space, and vibe. Best fries I’ve ever had—I know, I should be commenting on the wine list and fine dining, but as a fries “connoisseur”, they were tops. Special cocktails are also excellently crafted. Attentive, professional service. I’ll remember this place!

This is a lovely spot for dinner. It has a very cozy atmosphere with a beautiful wine column in the center of the restaurant to admire. The wine selection was as expected, there's plenty of variety to choose from. The food was not as good as I was expecting though, it was a little on the salty side. We had a Brie appetizer, the steak, clam linguine and lobster linguine. The Brie was excellent, the crackers had a nice salty sweet flavor that went really well with the cheese. Both pasta dishes were a little too salty, but the steak was cooked nicely with good flavor. The only change I would make to this menu would be to have less salt in the pastas.

So glad we decided to have lunch here. Sat at the bar and ordered grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup. Not something I'd typically order but so glad I did. Best grilled cheese sandwich ever. The soup was a little spicy for me but nonetheless very very good. Great portion size, could have shared. Great service and pleasant environment. Love the design of this restaurant. The metal front doors and winding indoor staircase are 2 design features that really make it a fun experience and with great food and service, it's an easy decision to return again one day soon

The restaurant was super empty but we were told there were a 10 minutes wait due to the lack of reservation. 30 seconds later, we got our table. We were served by two different servers who were utterly confused of each other. Food was amazing tho. Burger was awesome! Ambiance was nice, and one of the two waiter was also very delightful.

Love this place! Large selection of wine and exquisite hand-crafted cocktails. Every appetizer we tried was fantastic, but the Gorgonzola dates are by far our favorite!
Nicole Simbulan
Beautiful restaurant with great ambiance! Our food was great. We ordered brussels sprouts, bone marrow app, basil fusilli, bolognese, and wild mushroom risotto, as well as a nice bottle of wine. They had a great wine list! I made resys at 9:45, but was unaware that they were closing at 10. When we came in, the hostess told us that we had to order everything at once. We felt rushed throughout the meal. Everything came out at the same time. If I knew they would rush us, I would have made it earlier. Definitely coming back though!

So glad we stopped by here on our recent visit to Seattle. We were looking for dinner and wine in a nice atmosphere, and Purple did not disappoint. Service was friendly and attentive, and the food was great. Nice variety of wine by the glass; good selection of prices and styles without being overwhelming. Looking forward to our next visit!
Yandong Li
I like they have every dish with a recommendation of wine pairing, great selection and choices of wine! The bone marrow is a little raw, fisherman stew was also just alright, shrimp pasta was pretty good.

Met up with a friend, we had dates stuffed with blue cheese and fried calamari along with wine. Ahhhh!! Appetizers were delicious! Great wine selection. Amazing customer service, our waitress was friendly and attentive! As soon as I got back home I started recommending Purple Cafe and Wine Bar. You must try their stuffed dates!
Noel Tiongson
Perfect for a date night or to bring any of your out of towner friends here. An amazing bar with delicious food and refreshing drinks. Well managed. Attentive staff. This is one of my favorite bars now.

Gorgeous spot with great food! Our waiter was super helpful but also verified anything he wasn't sure about. Appreciate the honest information! I had the mushroom soup with a fried chicken sandwich. Everything was super tasty!!
Finished off the meal with the Carmel chocolates. Loved the salty sweet! Perfect ending!
The cocktails were also very well prepared! Lots of unique and delicious combinations!
Agnes Roter
A reliable spot to visit. A great, well priced meal and nice wine reco. Impressive interior design and a fantastic vibe. If reservations are unavailable, try your luck anyway and see if you can snag a seat at the bar.
Eric Nisley
Beautiful bar. Love the “Duo” option for wine. Basically you get two small glasses of wine 3 oz side by side. Wife had the French Dip I had the impossible burger. Both prepared well. Service was excellent. We sat at the bar which is great for people watching. Spaced out at the bar. Prices are reasonable. Our meal with two duos and one full glass of wine was $125.
Manali Chanchlani
This place has a great ambience, friendly servers, and amazing drinks, but the food is pretty okay. We ordered a bunch of mains but didn't find anything worth the price.
James Brown
Went without a reservation and was able to get an early seat. Food was really good, as were the custom cocktails. Service was good and I'd go back again.
Etienne Lescure
Superb experience. Food is to die for, everything is delish. Tried the crab cakes, beet salad and duck confit (pictured below and is very very filling, think heavy).
Would go back for the wine and cocktails alone, but that food is so good that I’d have to eat something too.
Nader Takawi
An elegant place. The staff is super nice and knowledgeable. They have a huge wine selection. The food there is amazing. I highly recommend it for a date night or a classy hangout. Parking is located below the restaurant.
Gary B
This has to be your Go-To place when you are in downtown Seattle! Food is exquisite, "setting" is dynamite, service is amazing. Huge menu, huge wine selection beautifully displayed and outstanding architectural layout on the inside. Somailloi on site, extraordinary selection of seafood, steaks, vegetarian. They have everything and in a relaxing easy going atmosphere!
Clay Martin
Nice place, excellent service and good ambience. Two meals of pasta and both were unfortunately over-cooked, soggy is the best description. Good wine pairings, recommend going with the DUO offering of two wines from different countries.
Sav H
The interior has this wow factor and nothing lives up to the hype. Everything was over priced and not that great. Service was bare minimum and not good. It's also not safe for celiacs so I couldn't eat. Unless someone else is paying, I would not come back here.
Keladry MT
I cannot express how wonderful the experience here was. First, the staff was incredible. Just so kind and thoughtful. I have a dairy allergy and they were SO sweet about it and really made sure everything was safe for me. Second, the food was SO GOOD. Third, my drink was PERFECT. Honestly I was floored, would go a thousand times. Seriously, the service was just outright phenomenal. If you have not been here, go.
Andrejs Strateicuks
I am a loyal Purple customer for over 3 years. Have visited their restaurant >30 times (big portion of those in Bellevue before they closed). Overall, I love their place/concept. That said, today I got into a strange situation. I walked in and asked for a table near the window, pinpointed two small tables that I liked and where I usually sit. Host told me that they are not seating in that area now and offered me the place in the furthest place possible. I had three small groups behind me and guess what, two of them were seated at the tables that I asked!!! I am not sure if they have adjusted their seating standards or host just had a bad day, but I felt left out and disrespected.

Best shrimp linguini and black cherry trifle. Plenty of wine. Fabulous pork chop. Wonderful service.
Nandhini Kanagaraj
Lovely ambience! Very friendly service!! chicken marsala tasted right from heaven and they have great wine pairing to most of their dishes along with the menu. Just wow. It was a perfect dinner with my husband. Also do get their crispy cherry apple dessert ☺️

Reserved a table before the Sounders match. We are happy they are still open in downtown as a Pre-game dining option as so many places have closed during COVID. The staff was friendly and we were sat at our appointed reservation time Service was efficient as our party of 8 was able to enjoy their meals and arrive on time to the game at Lumen Field. Nice ambience- clean, high ceiling, lots of windows. Proof of vax required. Appreciated they had a mocktail on offer. Paid street parking or in a nearby lot. Family friendly.

What a wonderful dining experience! From the moment we walked through the doors (and had our vaccine cards checked) we had a fantastic evening at Purple Cafe.
Our server, Selena, was witty, knowledgeable and attentive. She was versed in the suggested wine pairings but also suggested other wines when we veered from what was the suggested pairing.
We started with calamari which was light and crispy as we leisurely sipped our cocktails.
My three dining companions all ordered the Seared King Salmon. The consensus was it was one of the best salmon dishes they ever had. The accompanying combination of grape tomatoes, basil, corn with tomato vinaigrette, complimented the salmon in a highly satisfactory manner.
I chose the Corn and Mushroom Pasta to which I added prawns (Selena's suggestion.) This is a seasonal offering which also had, pancetta and pecorino Romano and was served over orrechiette. The soft, sweet crunch of the corn with the pancetta were very flavorful. The portion was large so I did not finish the pasta. The prawns were a slight disappointment. Though they had the light crunch of being perfectly cooked, the exterior was slightly "mushy" suggesting that they were frozen rather than fresh.
A side note that there was a selection of gourmet sandwich type entrees.
We treated ourselves to dessert. Sea salt caramels, cherry apple crisp and vanilla bean creme brulle. They must have been delicious from how fast they disappeared!
The atmosphere of Purple Cafe was fabulous. A soaring ceiling made it almost feel that we were dining outdoors. Wine was displayed in a circular tower at the heart of the bar, with a spiral staircase to reach the highest bottles. Tables were space so that you did not overhear conversations.
Highly recommend this venue for your next evening out!
Lane Kuhlman
We are here as a foursome and it was a fabulous place to eat before heading to Benaroya Hall for a National Geographic Event. I had the Vegan Brussel Sprouts Hash with Gewerstraminer which was fantastic. We also split the olives and Calamari which were delish. My hubby had the Short ribs and loved them. The atmosphere is beautiful.
Henali Patel
My favorite of the many wine and cocktail bars I tried while visiting Seattle last month! The ambiance is so rustic and cozy!
The service was also great and our waiter upstairs was super sweet with letting us taste a few before deciding :) thanks to him for the bday treat because both my friend and I were there to celebrate our bday weekend!
Get the BRIE from appetizer menu!

Delicious!!!! Loved the ambiance, although our seating wasn’t my favorite. My friend got the burger and he really liked it. My boyfriend got the crab macaroni and although not a big portion and expensive, it was delicious! Crab had a soft buttery taste to it. My friend and I got the basically pesto pasta and added chicken. We moaned with each bite! Drinks were fine. We will be back!
Veronnica
The atmosphere was lovely. I would go back for a happy hour anytime. Food was not my favorite, one note and over priced. Their sweet potato entree was legitimately just sweet potato with a scoop of other vegetables. Their crab Mac and cheese was so rich and didn’t have anything to break it up, overpowered the crab meat and could not taste the truffle.
Joy Montgomery
Great vibe! Came for a late lunch and the food was stellar. Definitely recommend.
Vincent Randy Heslop
Interesting menu, a bit different from their competitors. Creative and yummy! Great wine list and small plates. Only true drawback is the noise level, hard to have a conversation. Seems to be due to the interior design.

Great wine, great food, great atmosphere. I think everyone probably comes for the tower of wine but they stay for the pouting of the wine in accompaniment with the food. They offer “duo” pouring of types of wine where you get two half glasses of two versions of that type. We did bordeaux and rhône. They also split our steak for us which made sharing that much easier. The crab cakes are some of the best I’ve ever had. It’s my understanding the upstairs portion is open Friday and Saturday for a more cozy, bar setting. The upstairs also has a retail wine bottle selection for taking home or enjoying in the restaurant. All the service was next level, very helpful and attentive. Will definitely be back.
Brittany Mulder
I absolutely loved this place!! The wine was wonderful, I had the Rose/Orange and the Chicken Marsala with the wine to pair with it was delicious. The atmosphere was just right definitely would go back and recommend
Heather Conner
Came for a late night meal and bottle of wine. Beautiful atmosphere, and knowledgeable sommelier helped us walk through the wine list. Had the risotto with prawns, delicious and flavorful! Servers were professional and attentive. We’ve been to several of the Heavy restaurants and have not had a great experience, so we were pleasantly surprised for our great experience at Purple. We sat at a hightop table, and behind us was an engagement party. Cool to see that a large party can be accommodated here. We’ll be back for another date night in the future.

Ben was a great host. The food was good and they give big portions. The bread pudding was delicious.
Kimberly Weaver
The food was amazing and my son said he wants to come everyday and he hopes you become a trillionare. He hopes everyone has the best time serving people. We will be back for sure. He gives this place a good review because he likes your food.

Last night in Seattle and best meal. The Purple Cafe has a great open concept. The Fisherman's stew had a great depth of flavor and perfectly cooked seafood. The charred pork chop was cooked perfectly and came with excellent veg. This was by far the best dinner we had here.
Blake Burroughs
Food was delicious. Wine selection was fantastic. Unfortunately, Purple Cafe and Wine Bar had the worst service I have ever experienced. It was truly that bad. I worked in the industry for 5+ years, so I am incredibly forgiving with service mishaps... however, the negligence I experienced here was astounding. If you're going to market yourselves as a premier restaurant, the service needs to match.
Adriana Barrera Riaño
The food is pretty good and the portions are sooo big. They offer also a variety of drinks including cocktails and different kinds of wines. The service is pretty good, the servers are so helpful and answer all the questions and provide recommendations.
Jim Power
Good atmosphere, nice selection of wines. Tables fill up quick so make reservations or go before 6. Had a chicken sandwich, which was delicious, made with rosemary and other spices.
Jake Benson
Great food, cool ambiance. Make sure to get a reservation.
J Jordan
The food was delicious. However, the service was not. We were rushed by our server on each course, and she was of no help with choosing menu items, was unsure of where the wine was from, and never asked if we needed the sommelier (who's help is excellent from experience with past visits). We took our friends for their first time, and it was definitely a disappointment in the service category
Joy Laydbak
The rotating wine selection here is the real deal. Always interesting options and never bad wine. Service is good. My only complaint is a lack of gluten free food, so I've never eaten here. I just come for the drink
Andrea Leigh
Always enjoy this place. Good for groups and business meals. Great food and wine selection. They have a private room upstairs you can rent for groups. Walking distance to many major hotels.
Vicky Assis
Beautiful place. Knowledgeable wine staff. Food was excellent. 2nd time I've been to Seattle and 2nd time here.
Raymond Catania
Very good, the menu includes wine pairings for each item, the food was above average, not fantastic, but worth the cost. Would have been 5 stars, but the server was not particularly attentive and like I said the food was not fantastic.
Sresan Thevarajah
Food was good but the service was better. Came here for a birthday and purple worked with me to accommodate my needs while following guidelines. Great service by staff!
Aurora Adair
Wish I could give five stars, but the service wasn’t great. Went here for our anniversary and sat between two couples. It was very clear how little we were being checked up on and asked about our experience. Don’t know the reason. Wish we had a better experience.
Daniel Hall
Mildly over priced, but the food is pretty good. Our reservation was ready slightly after our check in time (table for 10, so slightly understandable). Service is decent, the check-in folks had smiles, but the servers did not. The food arrived promptly and hot... Definitely a plus. The menu isn't large, just 2 pages, but what they serve is again, pretty good. If you're on a date, be prepared to spend at least $100. Lobster Mac and cheese is $30 alone and I believe the NY steak is $39. The duck is also $30 and the Bucatini as is on the cheap side at $24. Oh, and they have a LOT of wine. A lot.

I'd recommend at least trying this once. The wine rack is something to behold. I hear there's a secret entrance, but I obviously can't verify that.
Sai P
Great wine bar with a huge collection. Great food too. Tried the pizzas and they were unique and tasty.
Try to get a reservation. There were long wait times even for a Wednesday.
The views from both levels are great.
Evone Elia
This place is AMAZING! Nice, pleasant, a place of a date or with a few friends. Prices are just right for this place. It's not formal which I love although you can be. I definitely recommend if you're out in the city and you want a quick bite or if you want to sit and hang out and eat. I recommend the brie if you like that, grilled cauliflower you must try, if you like (or love goat cheese) go with the goat cheese and sourdough bread, if you like blue cheese (I'm not a fan but it was good) the dates, crab cakes and the pasta was all super delicious. This is what I recommend if you're coming in for wine and snacking instead of meals, if you want a meal try the pasta.
Please let me know what you think or what you recommend!
Angelica Goldman
Nice atmosphere. The food was spectacular. The appetizers were very good & beautifully plated. The staff was also attentive. Overall great dinning experience.
Hailey Bohlman
Amazing service, amazing food, and obviously spectacular wine. The prices are super affordable, but they take care of you like you're in a high end restaurant. It's the perfect date night spot. Also, don't be afraid to ask for a wine recommendation, the somollier that helped us was incredibly friendly and approachable. Found us a great bottle that is a new favorite of my fiance's!
Tatiana Avdjiev
OMG, loved that place! Service, setting, food, drinks - everything was amazing! I wasn't even hungry and couldn't stop eating my calamari and everything that came with them. :) My cocktail was delicious - fresh and crispy, just the way I like it. We had a nice view from the second floor overlooking the round bar and the tables and enjoyed it very much. I visited quite a few other restaurants in the next couple days of my stay but nothing was as good as this one. It's on the pricey side, but so are all the other ones without the same quality... I can't wait to go back to Seattle to go there again!
Julie Winter
This place is amazing! Stopped in because our original spot was closed for Reno and we were hangry. HH menu and TONS of great wines.
Artichoke dip and the calamari simmered us right down. So good! The wine list is a gazillion pages. Settled on a WA Merlot. My friend enjoyed a local gin which I love the local thing.
Anastasia Pudul
Tables for 2 are quite small and located too close to each other. But overall food and service were good. They have some vegetarian options.
Richard Sales
This is a great place to go to for dinner most of their dishes do include meat. But the service is great. They have a big selection of wine, and foods. My whole family loves the food. The place is well decorated and has a unique cool design. I liked it!
emily p
Came here for a birthday dinner. Excellent food and pretty decent prices for downtown Seattle. Ordered appetizers: dates, beef tar tar, baked Brie, and chicken pate. Food ordered: lobster Mac & cheese, rib eye steak, kale Caesar, prosciutto pizza, and the short rib. Some of the best old fashions in town and a 122 page drink menu.
Jonathan Erbacher
Very good food, good wine selection, and awesome bartenders. The atmosphere is very upscale and stylish. My only critique is that it is a bit overpriced.
Ashley Dekarz
As soon you walk in the atmosphere is perfect crossbreed between a cozy Irish bar and a modern restaurant. Eric gave us phenomenal service and was very knowledgeable about the wine selection. We had the truffle Mac and cheese and it was delicious. Will return again!
Leica G
Very good wine pairing. We love their grilled Brie. Goes very well with their recommended wine. The seafood stew while it was nice, was a tad too salty for my liking.
Chase Roper
This place was amazing. Brought my wife here for Valentine’s Day (made reservations about a month in advance) and it went great. Even though the place was PACKED, our server assured us there was no rush so we enjoyed some wine before selecting a starter and took our time while enjoyed an amazing 3 course meal and suggests wine pairings. The setting is low light and has a sleek style. They do add a 20% gratuity to the bill but honestly I would have tipped that regardless based on the service anyways. Accommodating, friendly, and patient even while being one of their busiest nights of the year. We will be back with friends for sure.
Gaby Murphy
On a short break to Seattle we were directed to Purple and went along to give it a try. Very glad we did..... everything about the place is great. Fantastic service from Sean was the start of a memorable experience. Striking decor with real attention to detail is what Purple is all about.
Huge and varied wine selection....chose a full bodied Georgian red which was delicious and a real bargain!! Food was fantastic and my carnivore husband broke the rule of a lifetime and chose the Impossible Burger.....a vegan offering! It was really good and an unlikely convert has been won. My pizza was excellent.....great dough and delicious fresh toppings.
Cannot recommend this place more highly and I am looking forward to returning on my next trip to the city.

PURE PURPLE PERFECTION.
I thoroughly enjoyed an early dinner at the bar of Purple Cafe & Wine Bar. While not a wine aficionado (by far) the bar had a nice selection of beers, ciders, and meads to satisfy my troglodyte palate. Service at the bar was friendly, practiced, and knowledgeable. I loved the large, open, chic modern metallic atmosphere. I was not very hungry and settled on a savory mushroom sherry soup and the Purple chop salad with prawns. They were delicious and I would recommend ordering both. If you are in Seattle, I recommend you stop in for a chic dinning experience!
Ming, Eddi Chau
Hosted a buffet style dinner for a group of 23 at the loft patio and it was amazing. Eddie the manager and Andrew are all super friendly, although the appetiser took some time to refill at the beginning but everything went out really well eventually. The area is private and the food is great, all my coworkers had a great time enjoying themselves. Highly recommending Purple for group event!
K. A Wilson
This place was recommended. The wine tower and atmosphere was the draw. It was a bit warm inside but still pleasant. We had the brie and an order of spicy prawns with fries. I ordered the Purple chopped salad. It didn't quite meet my expectations in appearance and it was warm. My date for the evening ordered the Seafood stew (pictured). I think he enjoyed his meal. He did the recommended wine pairings with everything. I did not. I would go back for the appetizers. And the banana bread pudding for dessert.
Jon W. Lee
Great food and drinks. Waiter was on point with the wine recommendation. However, their cocktails were average. Overwhelming selections of wine lists. You must know what you are getting or you might have to rely on their recommendations.
Sarah Lee
Went here last Sunday and got great customer service. The light was little dark but very romantic. I would recommend this place for date night :)
Also, get brownie for dessert ! They are actually going to freshly bake it if you order it. That was the best dessert I ever had!
Angel Latterell
Staff very nice and helpful, great wine recommendations. Went for lunch and the fare was a little less diverse than I expected- but there just happened to be enough to make my decision exciting. A Dungeness crab roll- taste was very good although subtle.
Stephen Tschudi
Our server was attentive and polite. The house hamburger was simply the best I have ever eaten, bursting with seared beefy notes and done to medium rare perfection. I applaud their "Duo" model under which you have the option to order two small glasses of exemplars of a wine varietal (Bordeaux for my beef, one example a 10-year-old French Bordeaux and the other a 2-year-old Washington State) rather than one glass, the better to learn the differences and appreciate the subtleties. Not cheap but not gratuitously expensive. A hit.
Vladislava Kursheva
Lovely spot with a great exterior. Food was different than I expected. But good!
Debra Bernstein
We stopped two locals by our hotel The Renaissance and asked them if could recommend a restaurant for us. They both said in unison The Purple Cafe. From the moment we walked in the two hostesses at the front greeted us so warmly. They said they were taking reservations but we could get on the wait list. We did. They called us and sat us at the bar. Both gentlemen at the bar were so friendly but Andrew stood out. He gave us the best food suggestions (very similar to what the girls up front recommended). We ordered the spicy prawn and frites. Outrageous flavor. Then I ordered
the Bistro burger. The best burger I ever ate in my life. What a wonderful experience that I will share with my friends. Thank you Andrew for making our day extra special. Your customer service will not be forgotten. You are phenomenal.
Debbie and Jeff Bernstein.

Great place. Amazing ambience. You do need to reserve tables because this place is quite busy on weekends. I ended up getting seated at the bar which wasn’t terrible at all as they provide you full service there as well
Kimberly Hetrick
Fun atmosphere, good food, rushed service ( Making assumption that workers are in short supply). Worth a visit.
Yunbi Nam
They have tasty Riesling. Recommend to try their baked brie. They validate parking but you still need to pay $5 (can be wrong with the number)
Alison
Always a pleasure to visit as the space is lovely, especially after dark, and the employees are friendly & helpful. I think the employees think all patrons are from our of town so we feel like tourists when we visit. The food isn't blow-your-socks-off delicious but it's solid and the bar program is up there. They even gave us caramels for my husband's birthday!
Skip Gumble
Delicious food. Excellent service. Good duo wines.
Katt Wade
We stopped in at Purple after dinner, which was almost a shame as the food looked delicious! We did get some sourdough (warm, wonderful) and I eventually caved and had a creme brulee. We got recommended a delicious bottle of wine, and our server let me try a couple first before we got the bottle. The place itself is really interestingly done, and we sat up on the top section and could people watch everything below. Really lovely as a late night drink and would like to go back and try the food.
Johnny Desrosiers
The service was wonderful! They were pretty busy but still able to help us quick. Some of the drinks weren't available but their recommendations were just as good! Can't wait to come back! DEFINITELY the place you want to bring a group or a date.
jms2564
Classy lunch & dinner resto; wine bar at night too! Had the Dungeness crab mac & cheese & paired glass of sauvignon blanc to go with it! My hubby had the roast beef dip, a sandwich that came with an au jus dip delish too! And to cap our lunch, the mildly sweet banana bread pudding! We will be back!!!
Sarah El Helou Rodriguez
Beautiful place, awesome for a date night. The food was delicious they offer gluten free and dairy option. All the pasta can be GF. Perfect selection of wine! We had Alfonso as our waiter and he did an excellent job! Thank you!
Patrick Conlan
Great wine selection, cocktails and small and large plates. Buzzes at night with theatre and symphony crowd. Would give it a five star review but the door staff seem to think they are at Studio 54 and that kind of attitude doesn't work in Seattle.
Serina Gee
I like that you can dress casual or classy, and the food was pretty good. Not sure if it's worth the price, but I definitely didn't have any complaints. We got the lobster Mac and cheese, the calamari appetizer, the stew thing, and a glass of wine each for about $110 before tax and tip.
Brittany Parmentier
Overall a decent experience…Our server was very dry with not a whole lot of personality or emotion. Food and wine I would rate overall a 4/5. The fries were delicious and perfectly cooked. I ordered the Beets and Goat Cheese salad. It definitely needed more goat cheese but besides that it was a really well put together meal. My friend ordered the chicken salad, it was sub par. WAYYYYYYY too much celery in comparison to the other elements of the dish. I’d recommend dining here but don’t order the chicken salad if you don’t want a boat load of celery.

This place arguably serves the best tomato soup you have ever had! We also had the veggie pasta which was fantastic! The ambiance is very pleasing as well!
Russ Lund
Party of 6 without reservations and they found a way to make it work. Great food and wine selections. Very friendly staff.
Peter Gebert
Went twice in 3 days. First time sat at bar and was fantastic. Bartenders cheerful and helpful. Decided to make reservations for dinner . Though food was fantastic, didn't seem like waiter wanted to be there, however the sommelier was great
Karteek Paruchuri
We had great experience dining at this place. I took my wife for a date night and it was great experience. The place is buzzing with multiple groups celebrating various events. It has a nice warmth & modern ambience. The food is delicious. Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée deserves special applause
Monica Palochik
Love this place. So many wine choice! Love that they have a description for all their wine by the glass choice and if you order food they give you wine suggestions for each item! The place is so cool with the wine being from and center.
We had their wine flights and a couple of appetizers. The dates stuffed with gorgonzola was amazing!
Next time we are in Seattle we are going to Purple first and often.
Rachel Raynes
Nice ambience. Overall good service and drinks. Unfortunately, the food did not hit the mark for the entire party of 6. Seasoning was way off and menu descriptions didn’t seem to match. Seafood was overcooked. Sauces seem to be their weakness.
Eleni
Had a great dinner here, we were seated a little bit after our reservation, the entrance was packed. Waitress was very helpful, asked if we had to be somewhere and kept a note to make sure everything came out on time for us! Great atmosphere and food was delicious.
Emily Hamilton
We had so much fun at this place! There's nothing I love more than a business run by a person who loves what they do. Every detail is so well planned and carried out. From the architecture to interior design to food ingredients, flavour, and plating, the staff carries out the vision of yours restaurant very well. This was a great discovery and definitely worth the prices.
Diana Neal
Lovely atmosphere, fabulous food and wine, and great service! A thoroughly enjoyable experience!
Rich Pyles
Super atomshere, spectacular wine tower, pricey but great food. Take a date!
Steve Brooks
Urban atmosphere. Great wine selection. Colorful wait staff. Smoked salmon appetizer, generous serving, large flakes.
Jasmine Fortune
Went here for a birthday celebration and had a great time! The food was good and the portions were big. Overall good atmosphere and would definitely return!!
Michael Knoell
This is one of the coolest wine bars I have been to. Food is awesome, wine selection is fantastic, happy hour is a great deal, staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Can't go wrong!
molly mitchell
So the waitstaff is definitely really nice here! I came in for dessert and wine. I ordered from the bartender a sickly sweet wine. When I expressed how I didn’t like it he very graciously offered me something else. I then got the dessert i ordered which was a trifle. The whip cream tasted old and the dessert just didn’t taste fresh. I sheepishly asked if I could get something else. Again they were very kind and let me get the crème brûlée instead. The Creme brûlée was much better.
Christina Bowman
100% recommend the baked brie appetizer. I'm not big on seafood, so I got the mac & cheese sans lobster, which had the just delicious breadcrumbs on it. I also tried the cheeseburger with fresh greens, which was absolutely perfect.
Huge shout out to our bartender who helped us find the perfect wine, apps, entrees, & dessert to celebrate my birthday. He was so helpful & provided such next-level customer service, that would have been enough to make me return. The creme brulee pushed things over the edge & made me believe a future visit was needed.
...Seriously, get the baked brie appetizer. 😍 Everyone about this experience was worth repeating

Purple Cafe and Wine Bar is an amazing place. I would definitely advise making reservations before you visit the restaurant. The entrance has a heavy iron door. Once you get inside the restaurant you get transported to a different world. The ambience is perfect. It gives you an upscale feeling. There is a huge tower of wine bottles in the middle of the restaurant, which I loved. The staff was very friendly. When we were confused about what wine to order, our server introduced us to the wine connoisseur. He discussed with us the various wines they had to offer and suggested us a couple of wines based on our likings. And I would say it was definitely spot on. We ordered grilled cauliflower, baked brie and GORGONZOLA FIG. I loved the baked brie and GORGONZOLA FIG. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. The food is unique and has an amazing taste. It is definitely an expensive place but worth visiting at least once.
Jared Holbrook
If Caroline is there ask for her! Absolutely an amazing experience. Walked by and said "wow lets go in here" and it was one of the best decisions made. Ask if you can go up the wine tower! Super cool experience!
Jennifer van Arcken
Visited with my daughter. The service was great and very friendly. The atmosphere is beautiful. In my opinion the food wasn't worth the price.
Eben Cortez
Delicious food and good wine. The gorgonzola dates are really good, as is the grilled cheese with tomato soup.
Cody Chaussee
Food and drinks are great! Low light elegant atmosphere and great staff who are knowledgeable about their wine selection. They even comped us a dessert since it was my girlfriend's birthday! Keep in mind that this place is expensive, so it's easy to spend over $100 on a meal with a drink for two. Also there is a mandatory service charge of 20% so don't forget about that. Their gorgonzola dates are my girlfriend's favorite appetizer! Cheers!
Jubilee Slivkoff
The space and ambiance are stunning. The food, however, is very lackluster. Prices are what you'd expect in that kind of place in Seattle, but flavor was bland and not worth it at all.
Caroline DeJong
Lots of vegan options! Good wine. Get the duos! Romantic date night place in the heart of downtown.
Alisha Thompson
Me and my mom really enjoyed the Purple Cafe & Wine Bar. Being from northern California, we are always wine tasting in the Napa and Sonoma valley areas so we were interested in finding a good place to enjoy wine. We went around 2:30pm and it wasn't really busy. We sat at the bar because we had just come from having lunch and only wanted to have a few drinks. The view from the bar was really nice due to the high windows giving a wonderful view of the street. The bartenders were very friendly and knowledgeable about the various wines (and the selection was pretty massive). We both had a wine flight trio and a glass of sparkling rosé.
Allen Tucker
Great ambience with an incredible selection of wine. They have preselected flights on their menu which is a fantastic idea.I got the 'popularity contest' and wasn't disappointed. The basil pesto pasta and the calamari was on point. A bit on the pricy side, but I actually like that they include the gratuity as a 20% service fee. Glad they are taking care of their employees. Good on them.
Matt Davis
This place is stunning. One of the prettiest industrial setting bars I've ever been to. The giant winding staircase with wine bottles is very cool. We had a few beers and wine. Both were average to good. Would definitely go again.
Jerry Ridder
We enjoyed the Purple Cafe and Wine Bar but there are.a few quirks to consider. The space itself is beautiful with a huge central wine staircase and upper and lower dining areas. I recommend the balcony for a quieter, more intimate experience. Just about every food choice is paired with a wine...some more successful than others. We started out with the cheese plate and soppressata paired with two half glasses of wine to match the cheeses. The half glasses are 1/2 the price of a full glass and a great way to sample multiple wines without committing to a full glass. The serving was ample but be aware that the bread, olives and almonds are separate at $5 each. Regardless... get them. We had the crabcakes, pepperoni/mushroom pizza and the cranberry/Chicken salad...all with nice wine pairings as our second course. The pizza was excellent and a great size and could be shared. The crabcakes were good and the salad was huge. Service was OK... not really attentive but very helpful once you got them. The bill comes with an automatic 20% added and a disclaimer stating that this is retained by the company since good wages and benefits are provide to the staff. I don't agree with this concept but you can decide for yourself. In any case a separate line is available if you want to leave an additional server tip. Bottom line...very good and probably worth the price...hence the 4 stars.
Paul Beck
Had a fantastic dinner and wine. I sat at the bar by myself for dinner, and Earl took fantastic care of me. The selection of wine and food was great. Highly recommend
Rene Groot
Very nice place with Urban vibe. There was ni table available, so we had a Diner on the bar. I choose the *GRILLED HANGER STEAK FRITES* and didn’t regret. Prices are reasonable and food quality is good. Nice friendly staff. Definitely a must goto place.
Catherine Edwards
Purple Cafe and Wine Bar is absolutely fantastic experience. The owner Susan is the kindest most magnificent gracious person I've ever met. The four of us had the best service, the best food, and the most wonderful time. Just ask Susan what to eat and she will take great care of you. I can't rave bought this place enough! The restaurant has been in the neighborhood for many many years and she can tell you all about the history of the neighborhood as well. We felt like family & will be back again and again!
Meghan Nygren
The ambiance was amazing, with a spiral stairwell around a wine pillar to the ceiling. Really great food and wine selection. I ordered a duo wine (two smaller servings) and it paired really well with the pesto dish, salad, and asparagus/mushroom appetizer. We had immediate seating for 2 at 7 on a Wednesday.
Dennis LaMaster
First date night out for my wife and I in a while. We were doing dinner and a show. We choose the Purple cafe because of the proximity to our venue. We did not have a reservation, but was lucky enough to be seated without a wait. We were greeted and treated well by our wait staff. Drinks, appetizer, meals were all delicious. We were in and out within an hour. We had a fabulous time and would come here again. I highly recommend it.
Jim Halas
Great wine list, fantastic food and attentive service.
Jordan Sigmund
Delicious food and crazy diverse and expansive wine collection. Fantastically kind and helpful service. I went on my own to grab some food and a drink at the end of a work day and was not disappointed. Word to the wise, it's not cheap for a full meal and a 6oz pour. Additionally a 20% gratuity is included with your check.
Akshay Ram
Nice basil pesto, Washington red wine and chocolate gnache tartlet.. the grilled cauliflower was a little bland.. nice plane for a romantic dinner.. decent vegetarian options.. exhaustive wine collection..
Mikael Mengistu
Great food here. The steak was great and the fries were thin and crispy. Good drinks and friendly staff. Great vibes for an evening out in downtown Seattle. Definitely check this place out.
Clara Baggett
Excellent wine selection and the Duck bacon carbonara was incredible... I would come back just for that. Love the ambiance of the place and the wine special in the middle is really neat.
Jennifer Wujcik
First time back since CO-VID. Lots changed - no paper menus - bring your phones to scan for menus -- truly do not care for this new aspect of dining out. Terrific service though - very patient with us! The menu is completely changed from before. I had the crispy shrimp sandwich with sweet potato fries - sandwich was spicy (no thanks) and the fries were over cooked (also disappointing). The reason for the 4 stars was the service - I may go back and have something different - undecided at this point - Purple Cafe used to be one of our favorites....
T. Christon-Stewart
Purple isn't a large chain, and it's tastefully elegant while sporting industrial chic decor. Seating is cozy, the wine tower is awe-inspiring, and the food is delicious. Not an expansive selection, but the options are tasteful, with decent portions and extremely fresh.
Sierra
The food was very good and the service was as well. Beautiful restaurant with a great wine selection.
Travis Benson
My brother in law and I sat at the bar and chatted with the bartender a good while about Washington wines and we tried a good majority of them. The location is great and the layout of the place is pretty nice. If you're looking for a good place to kill some time and drink some wine this is your place.
Ben Bauer
"You get what you pay for". This place isn't cheap, but also not unreasonable. The food is very high quality and the drink selection is amazing....check out the wine tower in the middle of the place! Fancy lunch, date night...
Andres Castro
I was curious to visit this place after reading some reviews where people said they felt discriminated against. I must say, I saw none of that. Great treatment, staff could be a little friendlier but you can’t expect everyone to be in a good mood all the time right? Good service, good food. I will come back.
Susie Voong
This place is amazing! I loved everything about it. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable and the wine list is superb. High quality ingredients at very reasonable prices. We ordered the burrata, filet mignon, and a New York steak and everything was tasty.
Amanda Thomas
The staff at Purple was top notch! From the host, to the server, and even the manager stopped by our table to check on us. He noticed our table had a slight wobble, and offered to move us to a different table. It wasn't that bad so we didn't move, but we appreciated that he noticed and offered. Our server had such a finess as she moved around the table. Wod definitely recommend if you have the opportunity.
Faith Murri
I could get the same dish but it would taste better in a larger serving size for half the price at Applebee's
Craig Jackson
So much artistry in the food. Focused on quality, not quantity.
Ezra Bae
In town for an interview and dropped by for some wine. Really nice decor and vibe. Staff is friendly as well. Can't speak for the food but they have a novella of a wine list. I got the pinor noir flight. Three different types of pinot from Patton Valley. Very good. You get east, west, and south. South was my favorite, followed by west and then east. Service at the bar can be a little slow.
Phil Schubert
Excellent place, wonderful food and their wine pairings were expertly done. It got a little noisy but would come back and recommend for sure.
ValQuay
I didn't come for the food🤗😣 We had a flight of wine. My server was awesome, I love the look & feel of this restaurant. Perfect for a date night. I was with my best friend & we still have a great night. …
Abel Rivera
Read a lot of reviews before going here. Was able to get in last minute which was great, we always order calamari if a place has it, this portion of meal was not great, but after that, things got much better. Chicken Marsala was fantastic, my wife had crab cakes, and my son had the Crab Mac and cheese. All we're phenomenal. Great wine selection!! Staff was attentive and friendly.
Chandan N
Romantic dinner place. Good food and drinks. Service was not that great though. Waitress kept asking if needed a box every 5mins while we were still working on our food. Reservation is recommended.
Joel Rubim
A special place to dine in Seattle. Excellent wine list, good food and the desserts, ummm. Great service. We have been there three times (2010, 2011 and 2016). If you arrive and have no place, have a winebar on the upper level where you can taste a good wine while you wait for a table.
Oscar
The duo wine pairings were spot on and delicious. The bistro burger was great but the fries were not crispy, although they tasted pretty good but the texture was off. The friends I was with really enioyed and recommended the pesto basil pasta and roast beef dip sandwich.
Jennifer Lai
Stayed at the W Seattle so this place was really convenient to stop by. Their dessert and wine pairing was delicious! I'll definitely be back 🙂 …
Anna Grigoryan
Great ambiance and wine selection but I was not super impressed with the food, taking into account it was a bit expensive. Definitely would go again and may be try a dessert or just wines.
vital braun
Service and ambient are awesome, the restaurant itself looks amazing but the food is what needs to be definitely worked on, food was extremely salty, pasta dishes were the only ones that were not, also there was more than one of the menu options that weren't available but the staff was not aware of it so 10 minutes after Putting the order in we were informed of this and had to re-order which made the waiting time even longer for the whole table.
This is a expensive restaurant, but the quality of the food is not paired with that. It's not that the ingredients are bad, but the management and preparation are off, if you are going to charge a premium, it better be premium.
Dale Lear
I ate here often before the pandemic and was delighted to be back. Decent wine list, good food, and great service. Late afternoon martini and shepard's pie was delicious. The massive iron chairs and iron cutlery have been replaced with more manageable items, but the atmosphere and service continue to be great. South side tables are farther away from the music speakers and preferred if you want to coverse with your companions.
Michele Wier
We ate here last night for dinner. The ambiance and service were very good and our meals were delicious. Unfortunately when we received our bill I was in for a surprise. I eat vegetarian/vegan and ordered the Impossibe Burger off their menu. It was one of the reasons we chose this place, because it could accommodate both me and my carnivore husband. The server asked me if I wanted to add bacon, which was a little odd but since this burger isn't necessarily just for vegans it didn't flag for me. They also asked how I wanted it cooked, and again this didn't raise much of a flag for the same reason. But when the check came, it listed the Bistro Burger, which is their regular meat burger. I haven't eaten meat in over a decade and was worried I would get sick. It was delicious and there wasn't a noticeable difference from the many Impossible Burgers I've had (a testament to that brand) so I don't believe there's any way I could have known for sure. I had a few tummy issues overnight but thankfully nothing major, my soul hurt a bit more than anything. I didn't say anything to the server because I wasn't sure what the point of that would have been, the damage was done. But this is a good lesson for me to make sure to double check when I order at a non veg restaurant. Other than this, would definitely eat here again!!!
J Alvarez
This place is Amazing and the staff is phenominal...Lobster ac and cheese was to die for and the wines and beer such a variety to choose from!!!
Jenny
Second try at this restaurant, still not impressed. Drinks are good but the food was mediocre.
T “Mintedjuleps” Shoemaker
Delicious Elegance. The Best Mac~n~cheese & cream brûlée in Seattle.
A great wine list. It’s worth the wait. Great for special occasions, romantic date, or just because. Trust me, you may want to order some to go because there will not be leftovers.
hjc#2
Went there last night for a birthday. There were 6 of us.
We had so much fun. The food and service were exceptional. We all found something on the menu and we all commented how good the food was prepared.
One other thing to mention is that it wasn't super loud and we could actually hear each other talk.
What a great evening at Purple.
Laurel Clark
It was packed when my friend and I went, about a 45 minute wait but they offered us the community table which would be just a few minute wait. The community table was upstairs, fairly empty side from one other couple. Our food arrived very fast and was delicious. It is expensive but it's good quality.
Mary Kovis Watson
We had a great meal at the Purple Cafe last night. My chicken marsala was divine! My friend had the Spanish Mussels and was totally delighted with how good they were, and she is a long-time cook. The bread was excellent, with a crusty exterior and fluffy body. The cherry cobbler with ice cream was the perfect ending. And of course the wine was great. Would go here again without hesitation. Great service as well. We loved one of the waiters' shoes, sports coat, and helpfulness. oh, one last thing -- they require vaccinations and ask to see proof. This was absolutely wonderful for us, and made dining rather stress free.
Mouni Reddy
The burger and sweet potato fries were great. Good drinks, I loved the Perennial cocktail.
Expensive but given the location, mine ambience and quality of food it gets a pass. I see a lot of people doing business happy hours here, but I'd rather use my morale budget in more cost effective places and go out with the team more often.
Ben French
Huge windows. Classy decor. Great service and accommodated pur allergies.
Samuel Rad
Environment, food, staff, decor, service and everything else about this place was absolutely amazing. My favourite spot in Seattle.
Cocktails are great, staff are very helpful and nice and place was packed.
Pete Robinson
Fantastic as usual, but the fries portions can be cut in half (at least)!
Jennifer Wagoner
Amazing food, vibes, and bartender knowledge. Great wines... Great place!!
d s
What a treat. Mushroom soup was excellent, creamy and rich. Duck cassoulet and crab Mac n cheese - on point. Great atmosphere in a beautiful setting; wine selection is stunning and our service was friendly, relaxed and professional. We're very happy we stopped in.
Christoph Erben
Stylish iron clad interior with a central wine tower. Best to go here for drinks with some food on the side. We actually had some problems with the food, but the staff really tried to correct it, so 5 stars.
David Houck
Food was generally good, after they fixed an issue.. They served a chicken breast that was 25% raw... uncooked. They removed it from the table and replaced with properly cooked breast. However, there was no follow up. No apology. In such an instance, a chef or manager would come to the table and offer an apology and usually some compensation.. purple management did nothing. Raw chicken is odious...not simply a matter of taste. Wine was good. Fine wine list and menu.
But they have two unhappy customers.
Olivia Bell
Craft cocktails were amazing. Foods on the pricier side but definitely worth it. The atmosphere is beautiful. Definitely recommend this to anyone in the downtown area. We were lucky we were able to walk right in, but a reservation is probably a good idea
Teoy Thompson
Bartenders are super nice.
I ordered a Bailey's and coffee. The drink I order quite often in other places appeared curdled. The bartender attempted again and he said the same thing happened.
I then ordered creamy asparagus soup. It was ok. Not great not bad.
I thought I'd definitely try the crab cakes because of all the Yelp reviews. They were Meh🤷🏽♀️. For $28 I could have gone with a much better choice.
I attempted to tip it off with dessert. They started to get busy so my order was talking a while. I asked to get it to go and he said they can't make it that way. 😳
"Because of how the creme brulee is packed, you can't get it to go"
I ordered cookies and asked for my check. That also took a bit longer than expected.
Ambiance is really nice, maybe something else on the menu would have been really satisfying. Like another review mentioned, don't go for the crab cakes.
I'm not sure I'll be back whenever I'm in the Seattle area.
Mrudula Voruganti
I went there for dinner and didn’t like the food though the ambience and drinks are great.
Daniel Knudsen
This place is solid. It’s a little pricier for the portions than I would normally go to for myself, but it was perfect for a team dinner and it was really easy to make a large reservation.
Theresa Johnston
Great wine list! And the space is so so so pretty with the floor to ceiling windows ⭐
Pratikshya Panigrahi
Service was great. Food and ambiance was great. But our waiter was a bit rude and in a hurry to get us out.
Anthony Sarria
Nice upscale wine bar. They have baked brie which is so yummy
Alejandro Quetel
One of my absolute faves! Took my friend there for the first time and he kept raving about the food, service, and atmosphere! Will return with more people
Bridgette Gutierrez
The short rib was waaay better than the pasta
Kai Silva
Decent food and amazing wine , but the ambiance is really nice
Ellie Cummings
...nice place. great selection of wine by the glass. Lobster mac n cheese was really good, as was the chicken, bacon, and brie sandwich.
Sebastian O'Shea Campbell-Cooper
Amazing atmosphere, aesthetics. Architecture, visuals beautiful food drink service exceptional. Loved it. Check it out!.
Gilles Chapellon
If you are planning to do wine tasting in the area(Hollywood and around in Woodinville) , this is a great place to end your day for a nice dinner, however, especially during the weekend, make sure to reserve well in advance as the place is usually completely booked. You can still try to get a table while there, but wait time can be very long. The quality/price ratio is great. We usually order the Gorgonzola Stuffed Dates $8, the baked brie $17, the beef Bolognese $25(used to be wild boar) which are all great dishes. They have a good wine list with well priced good option (we usually order the Grey produced by Mark Ryan). They have also vegan options (such as vegan burger) which is perfect for us since my daughter in Law is Vegan. It is sad they closed their restaurant in Bellevue post Covid as we used to go there often when open.
DeVon White
This is one of my favorite places. Great Vegan options and wonderful drink options.
Jodi Godfrey
Delicious wine, amazing gorgonzola dates and baked brie, and impeccable bread pudding
Jerry Z
Pros:
- Good selection of wines. I ordered 4 big glasses and don't remember the rest of the night 🙃
- Beautiful place with a great ambience. Perfect for date night or a nice night by yourself. This in of itself is a win.
Cons:
- Staff was okay. Not the level of service I was expecting but it wasn't bad though. Just curb your expectations I suppose.
Nathan H
This place is a little pricey (nothing crazy, but more than most) but the amazing atmosphere and delicious food make it worth it for special occasions.
Inna P.
The food and wine is really great. Would highly recommend.
Imogen Caroline Brendel
The location makes it worthwhile: stunning downtown views whilst sitting inside what I can best describe as a glass jewel box air rounded by some of America’s finest architecture. The food is a bit uneven, ranging from very good to fine. Service is usually pretty good.
Guðmundur Ólafsson
Wine 5/5
Atmosphere 4/5
Service 3/5
Food 2/5
Don't order the cesar salad unless you want a handfull of black pepper in the sauce. We got a salad with a ton of black pepper cracked over it. Legitimately spicy. We returned it and asked for another with less pepper which was still spicy. Also the chicken cranberry salad was 45% apple, 45% celery, and 5% chicken
Luc Vincent
I was disappointed. The food was ok but not spectacular. The wine selection, which I remembered from previous visits as a highlight has been cut to a very small list and the only WA wine I was somewhat interested in was not available... Purple Cafe, you can do better.
Manika Ranjan
Amazing food and ambience. And it has a unique look to it. Food was really yummy. And wine was good too.
Rashmin Dave
It's good nice place with lot of wine selection. Less vegetarian options. But pizza is good. Try to make reservations. Generally it's busy. Good for group, friend or date.
Jeremiah Anderson
The mussels and bone broth were out of this world. First class service and comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommend it!
Addy
We came here for drinks and appetizers and it did not disappoint. The ambiance is fantastic, the service is great, the wine selection is awesome, and the baked brie appetizer was delicious! I think it's pretty cool that they check for vaccinations at the door as well. If you are immunocompromised and worried about Covid-19, this place cares.
Lynn Mitchener
Great venue, ambience. Food well presented and tastes as good as it looks. Staff very friendly. Love it
Eric Miller
Excellent wine selection and fun atmosphere. Only stopped here for a glass of wine, but a great place. Fully COVID compliant and takes your vaccination record at the door. However you feel about it, just know this is a requirement and common in big cities.
Sarah Alexander
The lighting is a TOO dim for my taste.. As a food person, it sucked that I could not see how my dish looked. It tasted REALLY GOOD and so fresh. The server was really attentive and his wine suggestions were just perfect for our meals. But the lighting......
C L
Works when you need somewhere to go but wine by the glass on past 2 visits has been flat. Food is average. Nice atmosphere and service
Andrew Rodriguez
We came in without a reservation for 5. They were able to still stir us within 10 minutes. Started with the brie appetizer. Was baked very well, everyone in our party enjoyed it. I had steak and it was made perfectly.
Cody Gregg
I have been eating at Purple for a decade and, until today, always considered it to be a "must visit" for any trip to Seattle. Tonight, our food was still pretty tasty, but the service was lackluster: We asked for our wine to be decanted when we ordered our appetizers, only to have the server show up with the unopened bottle right before our entrees were served (about 40 minutes later and despite having asked another server to confirm that the wine was in fact being decanted). I also ordered coffee with my dessert, which our server never rang in and didn't mention again. I still consider this to be a reliable spot for a great dinner, however, I have higher expectations for my next visit and really hope they bring back the lobster mac and cheese.
I also miss the no-tip system, where the cost of service was built into the price of food. That was always something I bragged on them about, which is sadly gone.
Kyle
I come here a few times a year and I don't even drink wine. Love the food. Spicy shrimp is the best appetizer on the menu and their French dip is one of the best I've ever had
Diane Collier
Love the Purple Cafe and Bar. Great wine list, fabulous food and wonderful staff.
Sadly the coffee is awful. Perhaps they can change the blend or just not charge when the diner complains.
Amanda Marie
It’s a beautiful Bar and for years every time I have driven past it told myself I had to stop in.
Well I finally did and it was ehhh ok.
*
The food was mediocre, the service was slow, hopefully it was an off night but nothing jumped out at me to want me to go back.
I would definitely go in for Happy Hour or for a cocktail with friends.
Greg Pryzby
Sat at the bar for drinks and appetizers. Nice place and can get busy.
Ninad Ligade
I like this place, it has good ambience and tasty food

Overview:
Had high expectations for this place to be well above your average restaurant but it fell a bit short. I waited to write a review after my second visit since I wanted to give it another shot. Side note - you'll most likely want to make a reservation which is what we did. First off, the restaurant looks great. There is a bar at the center of the restaurant with a huge spiraling staircase. Bottles of wine are stored all along this tall area. Our waitress provided good service and she recommended a great red wine. Another waiter who came by also recommended a nice mascato to my sister.
Food:
Overall I think the food is okay, nothing too awesome but certainly not below average. We started off with beef tartare and roasted brussel sprouts. I enjoyed the brussel sprouts and thought the tartare was okay. They add a pickled veggie in their tartare which was interesting but not my favorite. For the main dishes, I had the New York Strip and my gf had the Veal and Pancetta Bolognese. I thought the steak was decent, again it didn't stand out to me but it wasn't bad. My gf's bolognese we pretty dry though. It seemed like it was just the pasta and meat but no sauce. Maybe I need to eat more bolognese but didn't expect it to be so noticably dry. Finally, we had the bread pudding for dessert and I really liked this so highly recommend getting this if you saved room for something sweet at the end!
Christina Terry
The perfect aesthetic for an out of towner. Our service was fantastic and friendly waiter helped us navigate the menu. The stuffed dates were perfectly paired with the Syrah and our meal was delicious. This was a refreshing break from the tourist trap of other parts of Seattle. We will be back!
Greg Lentsch
Been here several times. Great happy hour, great wine selection and a fun place to meet friends
Christine Procopio
Great atmosphere and we had a FABULOUS waiter! I forgot to ask his name. 🥺
Harold Miran
This place was amazing. Food was great their wine and cocktail selection was great. Just a heads up, they're requiring verification of vaccination or negative test results prior to dining as of 8/18.
Marie Tchang
This restaurant is absolutely beautiful inside! I love the huge display of wine as soon as you walk in. The ambience is super romantic. Lol. I loved it! Also, if you haven’t had their Brie appetizer, I HIGHLY recommend it! Soooooo good! I’d love to come back!

I had an overall good experience had good customer service and good atmosphere. The food on the other hand was okay I ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup it was not flavorful but the salad was good. I think their main focus is wine and the more expensive dishes are the best to get.
Olivia M
Great wine and excellent food. Fresh ingredients ✨
Peter Fernandez
Beautiful venue. Great wine selection and cocktails. Attentive servers.
Annaka Shewchuk
Came here on a Saturday date night for appetizers and wine flights at the bar. We were seated pretty quickly, but I’m sure wait could be a lot longer for a table, as the place was pretty packed. The atmosphere was great, and acoustics were designed so the place didn’t get overly loud or echoey despite the huge open space.
Our bartender/server was super great. He took our orders pretty quickly and was attentive despite being responsible for a full bar section. While setting out our flights and food, he accidentally knocked over my glass of water, which poured onto my lab. He was super apologetic and got help and supplies to get me dried up really quickly. I was having a good evening, and wore a dress that dried quickly so it wasn’t upsetting and we continued to have a wonderful evening. At the end of the meal our server ended up comping BOTH wine flights and 2 boxes of caramels, after we had ordered only 1 to go. It was such a nice surprise and so sweet of him to do.
The food and wine at Purple are always great, and kindness and service were beyond expectations. It was a great night and we both had a wonderful time. We plan to come back to this location with friends and on other occasions.
Chelsea Hoang
Amazing drinks at the bar. Our bar tender was Chrissie, attentive and talented.
Anna M.
Lovely. Delectable. Ambience. The food was full of flavor, I do recommend to start with the stuffed dates! The wine...oh the wine, all the wines. They have an extensive selection and are very knowledgeable. I will say that it gets loud and that's do to it's popularity, so I highly recommend making a reservation in advance.
Annemarie Crivelli
I can’t say enough good things. The food is incredible. The ambience and staff are great as well. Come here...you won’t be disappointed.
Melody Broten
I can't say enough about this place. The dining area is simply gorgeous with lovely views of their circular wine display and street views full of twinkling lights. I tried the Brussel Sprout hash, and it was beyond delicious, one of my top 10 favorite meals of all time!! I visit here every time I'm in Seattle. I wouldn't miss it!
Ginger Thomas
Great food. Great atmosphere. Great staff. Especially CJ
michael daw
Great food, great atmosphere and great service. We had the brie which was excellent and I enjoyed my pizza. I did not like my sparkling cocktail I ordered but I think that has more to do with my preferences rather than the drink itself. They have a wide selection of wine and wine flights available.
Marie Dymkoski
Modern, open concept. The craft cocktails are good and the wine inventory is amazing. The food is fantastic!
Jesse Parce
Very tasty food and attentive service. I would definitely come back.
Elise Livingston
Great atmosphere. Thorough wine menu with great descriptions. Lobster mac and cheese and creme brulee are a must!
Kelly Kim
Great service, great wine selection, great foods!!
Yvonne Simpson
If you love wine, this is your place in downtown Seattle! Their wine menu is a rather thick binder and their wait staff is very knowledgeable. Now, I don't drink wine, but I do love their food which is pretty seasonal. There is a nice variety of dishes, including options that aren't too pricey. I like to take out-of-town guests, especially wine connoisseurs.

I’ve been to Purple three times over the years, all at different times and with different company. The first time was with a colleague after work; I had a french sherry mushroom soup that was absolutely divine to the point of being inspiring. I tried to make it myself (and went through a lot of trouble to secure the space, tools, and ingredients) and while mine obviously wasn’t as good, the fact that it inspired a guy who doesn’t cook to try and cook should speak volumes.
The second time was after changing jobs and being taken out to a “welcome to the workplace” lunch. It was a pleasant experience if not one that distracted from the restaurant.
The third experience was in July 2021, during the period when all the restaurants were reopening after the COVID-19 pandemic. Most of the things that make Purple great were still there: the service was second-to-none, the space was gorgeous and exciting just to be in (legend has that it used to be the University of Washington bookstore, hence the name Purple), the selection of beer was small but carefully curated, the wine and booze selection was gigantic, etc. I had the opportunity to experience three dishes: the Dungeness crab mac and cheese (which was amazing), the baked brie (which I loved), the fried calamari (which was familiar and also exciting), and the main dish I has was the halibut which was admittedly bland. ¾ isn’t bad at all but I was surprised; Purple isn’t the soft of place where you miss on food very often.
Overall, I rate 5/5 would recommend (although considering the pricing probably for a special occasion).
Iryna Lahoda
Not bad, a bit pricey. My lunch was delicious.
Sandy McGovern
Excellent GRILLED CHEESE& TOMATO SOUP! GREAT SERVICE!
Francisco Manzo
Amazing wine selection, great food. Highly recommend the braised short ribs, they basically desintegrate in your mouth.
Brad Ambrosi
We stopped in here for a quick dinner before heading to the airport. We got there at 5, with no reservations, and it was super busy as there was a show close by we didn't know about. They got us in and service was outstanding! Antonio was our server and went above and beyond and we only had a quick soup and sandwich. He still found a way to make us feel special and got us in and out fast. Food was great and can't wait to go back for a full dining experience. You must check it out, great place
Alex
Visited for dinner and left happy. I loved the cozy interior with a vine stairwell and heavy doors. Our server was awesome and the food was excellent. Really the best lobster mac and cheese I had so far. Lots and lots of lobster. Desserts were also great.
It’s a bit on a pricier side but it’s worth it. Great experience and we would definitely come again.
Christian Vargas
The vibe here is amazing! Our server was very knowledgeable of the wines offered and was extremely helpful when helping us choose our wine flights. Also the food was good (I had the pesto pasta with chicken), but I think the atmosphere is what makes this place. Great spot for dates or to relax and have a nice glass of wine. Would recommend to people visiting Seattle.
Anthony Riek
I've eaten here many times since I moved to Seattle, mostly whenever I am trying to feel a little fancy. It can be as cheap or as expensive as you'd like, great apps, wine for every budget. The service I've gotten here always goes above and beyond to be helpful, and the food is fantastic. Whatever your entree is you have to get the baked brie, it's amazing. The restaurant itself is also very beautiful, insanely high ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, and a spiral wine filled staircase in the middle.
Tina Brennecke
Very cool vibe and design. Food was very good. Great date place! It's extremely dark inside, making it a bit difficult to see what you're eating. Service was great!
Bryanne Hill
Went here with a friend for dinner and we loved ever minute of our meal. The food was delicious, the flight of wine was delightful, and the dessert and accompanying dessert wine was delectable. At no point did we feel rushed out of our table and our waiter was the perfect balance of attentive without being intrusive. I will definitely be back!
Quinton Andersen
If you want to feel fancy or just want a romantic date, I believe this place is the right spot. I came here for a girl friend's birthday. We showed up with a large group (about 20 of us), so the hostess arranged us to be in a private dining room.
The service was good and organized. The waiter made sure that the bills would be separated and took down orders for drinks first before he would make his second round with food orders. I simply got the beef tenderloin (from appetizer menu), and it was enough to fill me up. Beef was very tasty and tender, so it lived up to its name!
I would definitely recommend. Yes, you may park at Lincoln Square Parking, but don't be like me and not take a parking slip before you leave your car. I got lost for a good 20 minutes before my friend could help me locate the vehicle again.
Katie Zeleski
Fantastic service! This is a gorgeous restaurant! We were cutting it very close on time to get something to eat before heading to a show at Benaroya. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with our selections, and our food and drinks arrived immediately. Everything was delicious, and the whole vibe of the restaurant is very fancy, without being stuffy.
Pricey, but worth it. They hit the big stuff and the little details perfectly.
We are excited to come back when we have time to linger over each course and glass of wine. The spiral staircase in the center of the bar in the grand room is captivating, and their wine selection is beyond impressive. Can't recommend this place enough!
Ekaterina Nechaeva
Looks fancy, the wine menu looks like a novel book and has its own table of contents! Very appealing for wine lovers! Food was ok, good, not outstanding. And it's very noisy (we were here between 5 and 8pm). It's not a place for an intimate evening, but rather for a loud friends gathering.
Galen Wahlmeier
Service was very good. The server was very personable and helpful. Which could have been like a snobby French waiter because the tip is part of the bill. The wine selection was immense. If you don't want to pay the usual restaurant markup for a bottle of wine they offer a $20 corking fee service for those that want to bring their own bottle of wine. The food did not disappoint. There was a varied selection of food types that would cover everyone's tastes.
Roy Johnson
Amazing wine list. Food is excellently paired with their wines.
Ryan M
The wine selection is awesome. The food is really good.
5/5 WILL come back.
Zach Danz (defaulttidus)
My girlfriend and I always have a positive experience at Purple. We have been to both locations, and they certainly have a different vibe but at both the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming!
The wine list is very extensive and the staff is more than happy to help you find the right wine (or wines!) for your evening, to pair with an appetizer, entree, or desert or simply to have alone.
Purple Cafe is certainly on the expensive side, so be sure to check out the menu before you arrive, and very likely you’ll need a reservation for dinner-time visits.
Rachael Bourke
Atmosphere and vibe is great, service was excellent. One thing we would have liked is if there had been more crab in the crab Mac and cheese. For $32, it did not seem sufficient. Otherwise great food and drinks.
Trina Miller
Really loved this place. Great look and vibe going on inside. Staff was friendly and on point. Although the place is a huge two story open-concept room, the noise level was perfectly fine even though it was packed. Impressive wine selection and the food was delicious: Gorgonzola & Fresh Fig Pizza along with Basil Pesto Pasta. I could easily make this a favorite spot when visiting Seattle.
Catalina
Great food! Their lunch special is great when you're in a bit of a rush and not looking for a heavy meal. Our server was Collins and he was amazing, truly made us feel at home. Head ups though, they automatically charge a 20% service fee so you don't have to tip but that can bring up your check higher than you may have expected. Food and service were worth it though.
Owen Bligh
Staff was incredibly attentive and friendly. Food out of this world. Highly recommend the steak frites and the crab cakes. Very nice wine list offered, too.
Jen H.
Great service. Chill upscale feel. Parking lot underneath building for $7 (with validated ticket). Pretty good house-made chocolate sea salt caramel candies. Crab cakes and Pesto pasta lacked flavor. Surprisingly delicious roasted cauliflower appetizer.
Deanna Shaw
Great food, good parings and follow up by the bar tender. I stopped by during a business trip and really enjoyed the food here. Unique and creative, the food here will delight the senses. The pairings recommended for wine were on target and the bar tender recommended a good follow up for the end of the meal. Overall this wins on food alone.
Amanda Del Bove
Food and service were both incredible. Special shout out to the amazingly cooked asparagus appetizer and then again as a side that I substituted in with my steak! Definitely a fun place for a group, high ceilings so it is a bit louder but very fun environment
Karena Lindstrom
We have been here a few times and have typically always enjoyed the food. However, our last visit was disappointing. The Gorgonzola and Pear Pizza, as well as the Pesto Pizza were well baked, but the flavors were not well done. The Crab Sandwhich was mostly bread and greens with very little crab. Everything is always a bit overpriced here. The saving grace was the creme brulee for dessert with the suggested wine pairing- that was delicious! It is important to note that a 20% gratuity charge is automatically included in your bill, no matter the size of your party! It says this in small text on the bottom or the menu, very easy to miss. Considering all the other fantastic food places in this city, Purple is not necessarily worth stopping at. The decor is very cool. Our server was also courteous and friendly.
Jillian Harvey
Fortunately, we had a reservation, and it didn’t take too much time for waiting. I ordered Basil Pesto Pasta and my friend ordered the Filet Mignon, which is one of the top choices.
The pasta included spaghetti, tomatoes, pine nut breadcrumb, lemon zest and cheese. It was really good.
Gabrielle Sivage
Their lobster Mac and Cheese is amazing. I wish I liked more on their menu, or it changed more, and I think when a place like this does pizza you often get a stilted mix of food when you're not anticipating a pizza place. That said, I've never had a bad meal here and even had a fab post work gathering with over 10 people and everything, including the service, was good. It's not the warmest or friendliest place, but it's still a winner.
650NINJARIDER
Nice atmosphere. Didn't care for the calamari. Good wine selection.
Jenna Dale
One of the best meals I've had, can't wait to go back. The seafood stew and the short ribs were outstanding, as well as the grilled cauliflower and the peach and berry cobbler. Ben helped create a delightful culinary experience with spot-on wine recommendations. Simply wonderful!
Don Hennick
Yeah it's a down town wine bar with good food and pensive waiters. Was it worth a hundy with an assumed 20% tip included on the bill.....
[nelo] mijangos
Great Pizza! And a lot of selection of wines. Great ambience and decoration.
Christine Ivans
The only reason I give it 4 stars is the food is a little overpriced. The food is good and staff is great. Their appetizers are the best items on the menu and their wine selection is amazing. The place is well designed and appealing to look at. Make sure to make a reservation any time past 3 because the book up and you'll get turned away if you just show up. Plan your trip.
Jessica Kessler
I am a huge fan of Purple Cafe. The space is cool, the service is great, and the food is delicious. It's consistent. The wine selection is amazing (and amazing to look at - you'll see what I mean when you go). I've never had less than a terrific dining experience here -both for dinner and for lunch- and will continue to return for years to come.
Adam Steward
Absolutely fantastic! It was our anniversary and they treated us exceptionally! We even got to sit in their private den, hidden behind the wind rack in the middle of the spiral staircase! Cannot give you guys enough stars, incredible food, wine, cocktails.... everything! Thank you!
Sara Warner
We came here for a team lunch and the food was amazing! Our waiter was funny and attentive, even taking time to answer questions about the restaurant's history. I had the Moroccan chicken bowl and the chicken was melt in your mouth tender, the pomegranate molasses reduction was extremely tasty, and the flavors just melted together so well. I also had their hot earl grey tea which was served as loose leaf at the table. Really worth the stop :)
Sarah Kimsey-Sauro
Had one of THE BEST TIMES at Purple Café and Wine Bar last week. First, Joe was our server and he went above and beyond to make us feel at home and treated us like queens. We had 5 kids with us and he never ONCE acted like they were an inconvenience to him (which often can happen at nicer restaurants). He engaged with them and asked them what they were hoping to do while in town- and then gave us moms the details on how to make it happen.
The ambience, food, and wine were all delicious too (do yourself a favor and get the baked brie and crab cakes) but even if the food hadn't been 5/5, Joe being as amazing as he was would have made it all great anyway. We won't hesitate to come back next time we are in Seattle.
Fara Souls
Loved the steak so much. 👌😋 …
Mylinh Nguyen
I come here whenever I can. I love this place! The people at the front desk always seem overwhelmed and a little on the snippy side, which is what prevents me from giving 5 stars, but the food and the service once you are seated are both amazing! Great wine selection, great food pairings, and great service. My favorite is the chopped salad, always so good! I had a special there once that was a risotto with steak, and it is hands down the best meal I've ever had! I wish it was a regular on the menu, I would come in more often if it was!!!
Sean Happenny
An awesome experience! We got the Baked Brie as an appetizer and it was amazing as usual. I had the special Brisket Mac and Cheese, which was even more incredible than their regular lobster mac, especially with the wine pairing. Our server was on her top game as well, as she paced our meal perfectly and brought our check out without us asking because she knew we were going to the symphony after dinner.
Deepak
The food was a little dry than other places. We ordered pizzas and pasta and all of us felt the food was dry. The cheese and the veggies did not mix well with the pizza dough. And for the pasta, my friend said she did not feel the veggies blended well together. The place has a good ambience and maybe and the food not being very good could have happened to us by chance. We will give this place a retry after a while.
Danny Cawood
Great food, nice venue, pretty pricey
David M Gordon
Delightful dinner. Ambiance is fantastic: A gorgeous space well-designed to be open and airy, with ample elbow room between you and other tables and yet remain in the thick of things. Our waitress was more than excellent, professionally top-notch.
We enjoyed (see photos)...
* Housemade Sourdough bread. Served appropriately hot. Yummy.
* King Oyster Mushroom Pizza. Every bit as delicious as it looks. Thankfully large enough to share the bounty.
* Pacific Seafood Stew. Delicious but its serving size was disappointingly small. Not worth the price.
Wine recommendation by our waitress paired perfectly our meals.
We will return frequently to enjoy other many other meals.
Zachary Ahrens
Had a great team meal here with about 20 people. Service was attentive and friendly. The dining area was roomy and private enough for a group our size.
The food was better than I remembered from my last visit. So much so that'd I recommend Purple to someone who didn't drink wine. Excellent experience all around.
Matthew Castle
Great ambience (dark, romantic). Tower of wine is the visual showcase.
I enjoyed their cauliflower starter (perfectly cooked and nicely seasoned) and the recommended wine pairing. Service charge included. Good date spot. $$$
Stephen Nowroski
Stopped in for dinner (with children), the hostess found us a nice table. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The short ribs were fantastic! I paired it with Oban 14 year single malt, it was a great combination. I highly recommend this place for an excellent meal and top notch service.
David Potterton
Always a great experience. Delicious food and quick and efficient service. Favorite place to go while in Seattle.
Rory Litwin
Five stars, but if I could give a place six stars, I would give other places a six but not this one, if that makes any senes. It was excellent, but overall there was something about the experience that was less than stellar. I think I know what it was. Our server was just a little too formal, to the point of creating a slight awkwardness. The servers seem like they went to waiter school, and I know there is such a thing. They seem like they have training to work in high end restaurants. This place does an interesting thing in combining a formal level of service with casual street clothes. The servers look like they are wearing what they were wearing before they came to work. So it's an interesting mix of casual and formal. The space is very big and nicely designed. A really big room with high ceilings, which is not what the word "cafe" suggests. The wine list is very interesting and has a feel about it of being personally curated, with no intention of being comprehensive. There is a partial emphasis on local wines. The food is pretty much top notch. If a foodie has complaints they should back off on their hobby. The noise level with a bit up there but conversation was not difficult. I would go again.
Swap
I love the ambience of this place!
I’ve tried their crime brûlée, it is yummy! Their wine collection is expansive. I don’t know too much about wines, but their staff were very helpful and helped me pick one that my best friend and I could enjoy.
I tried their pesto pasta. It was delicious. I wish they’d more options for vegetarians. I don’t want to eat the same dish every time I go there! Hence, the missing 5th star!
Cameron Lowell
A decent spot for Americanized Italian food. I'm not a big wine drinker so it kinda loses that appeal to me, but it is a super pretty restaurant with the big wine tower in the middle. Main bummer is that the prices skyrocketed but the quality is still the same, I wouldn't personally pay more than $15/plate for the food but it's more in the $20+ range. For the money there are places nearby that feel less like a chain restaurant. Great place for business lunches.
Varun Jain
One of the best fine dinning places in Seattle. Great for date nights. They have excellent wine pairings. Also good vegetarian food available. Folks are down to help out in wine selection and offer tastings as well
Brian Birkholz
Had cocktails at an off hour. Staff was fantastic. Very accepting given the time. Will be back soon
Corinna Christman
I did not drink here, so I can't speak for the wine, but the food was delicious. We especially enjoyed the bacon dates pizza. The server even gave us complimentary samples! They did add a 20% service fee automatically. Delicious!
Joshua Miller
The food here is always good, but never seems to step up beyond that. It doesn't seem interested in reaching what could be a better experience. The food, experience, and drinks always sit in a nothing to write home about category. This might be why it stays relatively empty most afternoons, or it could be the just too a bit too high prices. Skip, heavy restaurant group has much better experiences out there more deserving of your time.
Michelle O'Connor
It's been a while since I've been here, but it's still a good lunch spot!
Eugene Chang
Stopped by with colleagues after work and ordered the following:
Gorgonzola dates: Small but tasty
Spicy prawns & frites: Best fries in recent memory
Baked brie: Excellent for table share
Sophia Yuen
DESSERT! We already had dinner, but still wanted to try this place and thought what better to go with wine than dessert? Well, not really, but that was the thought at the time, haha.
We got 3 desserts with wine pairings to share between the three of us and we were stuffed! We got the chocolate cake with hazelnut, banana cake, and lemon ricotta and they were all delicious! I would recommend any or all of them! The lemon ricotta was the crowd favorite as it was perfectly sweetened yet a little bit tart and light and fluffy. I only like one of the wines, but I'm not a wine person so that doesn't really say much about how good the wines are. Be warned, the prices are a little steep as one dessert and wine pairing pretty much costs as much as a meal there.
Overall, it a cool and classy place to grab some wine, dessert, meal, catch up with friends, have a date night, etc. They also have a cool spiral staircase showcasing all their wines.
Bob Dupuis
Consistently good across the board with a diverse, locally focused menu with options for all (incl. Vegan) and a very serious wine list including an amazing selection by the glass with a ton of Washington state options. Knowledgable and friendly staff who are attentive without being in the way.
Momen Mokhtari
The food arrived in a timely manner without mishap. We were a large party and everyone got their food around the same time.
Tyler Lund
Very cool and trendy place for some wine or cocktails, though they have a decent beer bottle selection as well. The food menu wasn't as exciting but had some upscale sounding small plates. The center of the place is a multi story wine cellar tower that contains the many choices they have. The wine selection is awesome as expected and covers a huge range from affordable to ridiculous. The Oregon and French wines we tried were excellent.
Jennalyn Samson
I wish I had more pictures from this bar but oh my goodness this place is incredible! I love the food, the wine and the service. We went for lunch to avoid the crowds and this was the best idea! It was practical empty! Would recommend to anyone!
Lucas Duffey
My favorite wine bar in Seattle. Really good for happy hour. I still need to go for regular dinner.
Great wine selection. They have several awesome wine tasting trios.
Baked brie was pretty good - I haven't seen that before. It was like a brie filled croissant pastry.
Sourdough and goat cheese was also pretty good.
Riley Brandau
Went with a group of 9 friends at 8:30 (had a reservation). If you like wine, this place is for you. They have hundreds, if not thousands of bottles stacked against the wall as well as in an impressive spiral staircase-like structure in the bar area.
Lots of different things to eat. From steak and seafood soup to sandwiches, pizzas and burgers. I think everyone in my party was satisfied with their meal.
This place definitely earns it's 3 dollar signs. Sandwiches and appetizers are around 15, entrees are in the high 20s to 30s, and glasses of wine generally run $10-15.
The only odd thing about this place was the choice of music. The EDM that was being played was more for a club than a nice upscale wine bar/restaurant. They did change it when they overheard us commenting on it, though.
Matt Knezevich
Went for Restaurant Week and was not particularly impressed. Of the two apps and two entrees, only one thing was seasoned properly (the others were either over or under), some things were bland, and or server was less accommodating than I'd expected at a place with Purple's reputation.
I'm glad I got to try it. The ambiance is fantastic and the wine selection is outstanding.
Sadly, I would never bother going back. I would not trust my good to worth the price, and I would struggle taking advice on what wine is actually good, rather than what wine they want to sell for their own reasons.
Tory Meyer
The place is a great location as I work upstairs. I have been here a few times and the service is always exceptional. Attentive but not to the point of hovering. The food is good but for the price I wouldn't call it great. Recently I had short rib dinner and the halibut. Both were fine. I am someone who does not drink and while I get this is a wine restaurant and bar, it would be nice if some of the options on food didn't focus on liquor. Deserts are an example, everything has some sort of booze sauce except the chocolate cake which isn't very good.
ranu singh
The Baked Brie is fantastic!! The vegan burger was good, not great. The pesto pasta was average at best. Ambience is very pleasing. And the extensive wine selection doesn't hurt.
wilsonamyc
Really good happy hour. Excellent bread and the calamari is some of the best it there. The drinks are very good. Great cocktails and huge wine list. The interior is beautiful and elegant. It would be a great place for a fancy date.
Brian Francis
Went for drinks and had a great time. The unique drink was very good!
Emily B
I had the lobster mac n cheese and a chardonnay wine flight. Food and drinks were delicious and I would definitely recommend them even though they are on the higher end. The service was okay. I ate at the bar and the waiters/bartenders came only when needed. They didnt make any recommendations nor did they follow up as often as they should have.
Haroon Chaudhry
From the moment we walked in we were welcome with excellent service and a smile. From the Host to the GM we had an excellent experience. Our wonderful host Andrew was very detailed and fun in explaining the background stories on the wines we chose, ee made it very fun and enjoyed our visit and will be back to frequent our new favorite place in Seattle. Coming from a Chicago we appreciate the service and product.
Tiffany Dillinger
Purple is one of my favorite restaurants! They have an excellent selection of food and anytime I have guests from out of town I take them there. It is a perfect blend of 5 star food and excellent service. When I went most recently, the bartender was extremely attentive to my deaf mother and even attempted to sign to her. Great atmosphere, good service, and top notch food!
Sheri Morrison
Great food, good service, modern upscale atmosphere. Quite dark at night with low lighting and just a candle on the table. Small, eclectic menu. Several different wine flights to choose from. It took awhile for our food to come, but was worth the wait. The San Marzano Tomato Soup (which happens to be vegan) is delicious! Great sweet potato fries. Duck is served very rare so if you prefer it more cooked, be sure to tell them.
essence j'dyn
The ambiance in the evening here is great for dinners with friends or close family, the space is open, the tables are bigger the lighting is subtle and the spiral staircase with wine is a standout centerpiece. For me while it's nice, purple is not the ideal romantic restaurant for one on one dates, but good for couple dates.
Oh, and the food is good, quite good actually and priced at what you'd expect from there. The wine selection is expansive, we often order flights to enjoy and learn more about the wines they offer.
The 5th ave theater is nearby and I often come to Purple before a show, very convenient.
josh helms
Every staff member is so wonderful and polite! It is certainly a nice treat to come here every once in a while and knowing they will still have the same menu items I love.
Beat wine selection in Seattle!
Jacob makes one hell of a cocktail as well!
Holly Palmer
Great place all around. Will return on my next trip to Seattle for sure!
John Togno
Excellent food and service, lose a star because their suggested gratuity was post tax not pre. Having said that their approach to service was clever and customer focused. When we told our server we wanted to share the appetizers they can out halved on separate plates. Simple but smart. The pizzas were fine and plenty of wine by the glass with suggested wines for reach dish on the menu. The wine was reasonable priced. The apple pie for c dessert was excellent
Nick Jordan
Went here for dessert and drinks. Friendly staff, great cocktails, and the bread pudding and creme brulee were really good
Jeremy Heinrichs
Purple is always a great spot in service and food. Really miss Purple in Bellevue so gave this location a try and really enjoyed.
Brenda Bae
Food was delicious! Everything was cooked perfectly and flavorful. Antonio was our server, he was incredible! Definitely ask to be seated in his area. Very personable and made our experience so enjoyable. We loved it! Highly recommended.
Vivian Mills
It's my favorite place for a bite after going to the symphony. It has never disappointed me. The wine list is extensive and the cocktails are imaginative and tasty. The food is always excellent. I'd recommend reservations here.
Abraham Tehrani
Great wine selection
Nick Butler
This place has a short but fresh and tasty menu. There is normally by reservation only during the week day for lunch. The wine list is extensive and complete. The servers and Sommeliers are on point with friendliness and knowledge. It is on the spendy side but nice for a business lunch or special now and then. Grab an early dinner or happy hour here if you can, it wont disappoint.
Gabriel
The atmosphere was great. They have a great wine list and a very high value wine flight list. The service was great even though we had our 3 year-old with us. We will definitely be returning!
Leon Billingsley
Purple Cafe was an unexpected culinary surprise. With a massive wine tower in the middle of the cafe, you would figure they would be a good wine bar. But everything we ordered for lunch was outstanding. I can safely say this was the most sumptuous chicken bowl I have ever had thanks to the variety of flavors in the dish.
Stephen Scammell
Lovely bar with a great wine storage area. The food was really good, plenty of flavour and great local wines.
Eric Woelker
The food and staff were great! I really appreciated the cool decor and the circular staircase that circles around the huge wine shelf was very cool. The large and heavy metal door is cool as well. Overall, I would definitely go back.
Mohit Bhushan
Eclectic wine bar with a large selection for vino lovers. Short and carefully-curated food menu with wine pairings. Service was superb. Ambience is very nice for lunch or dinner. Nice place to dine in style for business or leisure.
Carl Siegrist
Had a very nice dinner with wine. Definitely adding this place into our Seattle dining rotation.

This place has everything you could ever want from a wine bar. It has wonderful wines, great lighting, a fantastic menu, and windows at every angle. They take pride in having a wonderful selection, and for those who are just going for happy hour, you won't be disappointed! You can try amazing wine and nosh at great prices. Warning* Watch out for Theatre nights, cause they are so busy that it loses the personal touch.

Great place, great "ambiance", there wine selection is crazy and amazing. Only thing I can say I wasn't 100% happy about was my New York strip. The meat was good but there was barely any flavor to it.
CJ Rocks
Our server was very professional and polite. This place is very trendy and always a crowd. Ambiance is great! I only gave 4 stars because of the upstairs layout. Most tables and view are great upstairs. But we were put in a corner facing outside with a view of a side of a building and a parking garage. Not very romantic or ideal for any occasion. . . . especially my birthday.

Perfect Meal for the Perfect Day
We ate at Purple on a whim after getting engaged that night. It was a close walk from where we got engaged and had availability. Absolutely the best decision we could have made. The service was phenomenal and the food quite fantastic as well. We splurged and did all the wine pairings that came with each course. The pairings were wonderful as well. We will continue to come here every time we are in town.

As soon as you walk through the door, you realize just how much thought they put into the design and decor. The ambience was wonderful, and just as much thought went into the food. I had the steak and it was fantastic! The staff was friendly, and my only complaint is that the chair was way too heavy to move :P

Great for a workday lunch date downtown. The service is stellar, the space beautiful and inviting, and the food delectable and appropriately portioned. Their wine by the glass selections are extensive with some pretty unique pours, if you feel up to sneak one in before heading back to the office.

Recommend!! Great wine list, love that many of the food items recommend wine pairings. Good food, good service. A few minor issues with our bill, we were a large group, but they were taken care of quickly and easily.

This place has a great atmosphere, including a giant wine tower in the middle of it. Food is good, not outstanding, but you're really coming for the wine. The wine menu is a book unto itself, with bottles, glasses and flights of all kinds. Servers are also knowledgeable and helpful if you have questions. It can get pricey but that's downtown Seattle for you.

This place is amazing!! Delicious food, great wine flights, and the center wine staircase is absolutely beautiful.

Awesome food and our wait staff was amazing!!
Ryan Kaylor
The server was awesome, very knowledgeable and exceptionally attentive. The food (salmon) was delicious. Wine selection is extensive but there are a number of flights and pairings that feature wines from the Washington/Oregon region. I don't find myself in Seattle often, but I will definitely return to Purple Cafe when I do.

We had a wonderful dinner for our anniversary. Great bottle of wine too. The service was excellent, attentive but not obnoxious. We had a delightful evening! We will definitely be back.

Awesome atmosphere, and tasty desserts!
We stopped by for desserts, and got the brownie and the bread pudding. They were reach fantastic! The brownie was rich, and not too sweet, with fantastic whipped cream on top. (The bread pudding was also delicious, but it's hard to beat chocolate!)
The interior of Purple was amazing to see--we had to walk around the whole restaurant just to take it in. There's a massive spiral staircase with so many bottles of wine, all surrounding rooms on multiple levels. Look for the secret door ;)

My last night in Seattle and the best dinner to end it with. Our waitress was new and when we asked her on wine preference she was upfront with us and went and asked and they ended up suggested a bottle that was exactly what we were looking for. Meal and service was amazing, cannot wait for my next stay dt so I can go back. I come to Seattle once a year to see my best friend and this will be our new spot xoxo

Delicious food, helpful servers, and great selection of wine.
The menu has a good selection of interesting appetizers, pizzas, pastas, and sandwiches. You can't go wrong with anything.
Two highlights are the baked brie and the brussel sprouts for appetizers. Truly great.

Probably the best meal we have had!!! The bar tender was AMAZING and very knowledgeable! Would recommend this restaurant to any that wants good food and good wine. The food and atmosphere was well worth every penny spent.

Great place!
Lovely ambeince!
Beautiful selection of wines from all over the world!
Menu has wine pairings with the food selection. The staff is pretty courteous and thoughtful too.
I'm glad we chose this for our anniversary date night :)
Highly recommend this place!

Don't be fooled by the unfortunate name. Purple Cafe is an upscale, full service restaurant that has good food, a full bar and a fantastic wine selection.
This location is perfectly located near mass transit options including light rail. Parking is atrocious in Seattle. During lunch or dinner hours it is best to have a reservation as Purple is very popular and wait times long.
Service is generally spot on and fast but not too fast. Prices are mid-range with most entrees I have had priced around $20. The lobster Mac and house burger are my favorites but there are a wide range of options including the impossible burger for herbivoirs.
The environment is industrial trendy, cold, cavernous and usually very, very loud. Not a great place for good conversation or an intimate meal but the bar is pretty cool and lively.

I ate at Purple and it was glorious. It's a little bit more than I would pay when I go out to eat but no complaints about the price. It was well worth it. Go for the wine. Stay for the sandwiches and sweet potato fries. Definitely try the dessert - we noshed on the salted caramels and they were tasty. It's a great place with a really cool metropolitan atmosphere.

We came here for dinner last August. We had a private area upstairs. The service and food were excellent. I am not a big wine drinker but the wine they chose to serve us was really tasty and subtle.

Awesome wine selection, including some highlights from the Pacific Northwest. I ordered the "Tropical" wine flight with the truffle pasta, and my wife ordered the local flight with the basil pesto pasta; both were exceptional and went nicely with the wines. Chocolate trifle for dessert was a smaller than expected portion, but still delicious. If you're in the area and wanting some good local and global wines with food to match, look no further.

My husband and I had a spontaneous dinner here and I was pleasantly surprised. They were out of the wine I had ordered, but the Sommelier was able to offer a similar wine in the same price range that turned out to be quite delicious. The meal I chose was simple, but expertly made. We will definitely be returning.

What a great wine bar and restaurant. Staff are friendly and the wine pairings interesting and well priced.

The food and wine was great but it was just too cold in there. By the time we had finished our first couple of appies my wife had her scarf on and I was back in my sweater. By the time we had finished the next couple of dishes my wife had her gloves on. There were people at the bar still in coats and scarves. We had been planning on meats cheeses and red wine flights but we just weren't comfortable so we paid and left.

Expected better execution of the food for the cost. Don't get me wrong. Good flavors, here! But the technical part of the food, the texture balance, was completely missing.
It was a late, light dinner, no booze (11 pm on a Friday). We ordered the grilled/roasted (can't remember which) cauliflower, the mushroom soup, and the 1/2 portion chopped salad.
Flavors were good.
Service was on point.
My rating is based on the fact that it's a moderately expensive place so I have higher expectations for the food.
The cauliflower was soggy and not colored well. I think because the sauce has a little bite/spice the cauliflower is meant to balance it with the sugars that are supposed to be extracted from roasting (carmelization). Anyway, that's what I was expecting. This cauliflower was not caramelized at all. It had the texture of steamed cauliflower. I like steamed cauliflower! But I was expecting something more caramelized and with a firmer bite. This was a passive, soggy piece of vegetable.
The soup was fine. Nothing to write home about, but I love mushroom soup. It was well balanced, without the common problem of too strong mushroom flavor.
The salad was super flavorful. But again, I expect more from the food at those prices. The flavor should come with texture. Is that out of line to expect? Maybe. Honestly, not sarcastically, just wondering.
The chopped salad texture was a little limp. It felt like salad that had been dressed but left out for an hour or two. But, it WAS delicious. Maybe it's supposed to feel soft?
Regardless of the above, everything else was great. I'd eat here again. I'm sure food that's made not so late might be exactly what is expected: 100%. We'll try a proper lunch, next time.

Good food and wine. We revisited after a number of years and liked it all over again. The Happy hour is a good way to end your work day or begin a fun night. The wines by the glass are top notch and the food is good also.

I had a good time and would definitely recommend it

We were traveling with another couple and were actully looking for another wine bar and couldn't find parking. This was second on my list so we went in. We didn't have a reservation and it was the beginning of dinner time but they sat us anyway. The waitress we had was so nice and very knowledgeable and entertaining. They had a wonderful of different kinds of selections of wine flights. We each loved the ones she recommende for us after inquiring about our tastes. We went looking to purchse some of the wines. I would love for the wineries to be 1/2 as wonderful as this wine bar. We have freinds that live in the area and they will be bringing their friend here. We didn't eat, but the menu and the food they were serving looked wonderful and we will definitely make a reservaton and spend time her on our next trip to Seattle. There is only one down side to this place. The front door is so heavy it took more than one of us to open it. Part of the adventure!

We had an excellent time! Asked for wine recommendations and it was delicious!

Elegant dining room and upstairs space that is always pleasant to sip wine in. Cocktails are also quite lovely. I enjoy the French 75.
For a plant-focused meal, the roasted vegetable & puy lentil dish is flavorful and satisfying.

Nice environment, amazing taste, a little bit expensive
Phil Hudson
Great atmosphere, nice pasta dish, was quite spicy, waiter offered to have it recooked which was a nice touch.

I'm from a much smaller town, so going here was A REAL treat. Very fancy and expensive!... But worth it!
Came here with winemaker friends and they had the sommalier come to the table to discuss and recommend wines... Very entertaining to hear them banter back and forth about obscure qualities of Greek and Spanish wines.
Great food. Great wine. Great service.
Matt Tatoczenko
While it looks fancy from the outside, don't be dissuaded. Chill atmosphere. Not too loud either. Food is good and they provide wine pairings with most of the meals.
Food is good tasting but portions aren't very big.
Overall, good place. I recommend you try it out.
Nicholas Bergmann
It's been two years since I've been to this restaurant / bar, but I still have memories of how amazing this place is. I didn't get to try the food, however I still greatly enjoyed the drinks and atmosphere. I recommend going at least twice; Once during the day when all the natural light is shining through those huge windows, and once at night when the lights of the busy street become part of the atmosphere.
Gus Labayen
A regular go to for many people. The entrance perplexes me but the service has always been excellent, from the servers to the cutlery and presentation of dishes.
The low light romantic lighting is good for your significant other, but conversations tend to be loud enough to make it first date material if you get bored. Their wide selection displayed in the center spiral staircase is unique and iconic from the outside.
Go here if you’re in town but there are surely other places in the neighborhood worth your while.

My friend loves this place and he took me there. Food and wine is excellent. The vibe is chill, and the staff go out of their way to make sure you have a good time. It's a little pricey, but apart from that there isn't any reason you shouldn't be checking it out!
Trevor Park
Wonderful selection of wines and cocktails. Great spot for grabbing a bite and having a couple drinks.

The interior had a subdued, modern-chic feel. There was a winding circular cabinet in the middle, with seating on the ground floor, as well as upstairs. My friend and I asked to be seated upstairs, instead of on the ground floor. Some of the seating areas upstairs seemed like study desks, which is why we requested to sit in another section. They have an entire BOOK of drink options. If you're looking for a place to go with a variety of wines from different locations, Purple is a good place to go. The descriptions inside were also quite witty.

I've heard so much about this place, so I was looking forward to the business lunch we had scheduled here. It's a nice place -- was pretty packed for lunch so I definitely suggest making reservations, which we did. We were seating at exactly 12:15p. The lunch combo is the best value at $15 (any 2 - soup, salad and sandwich). Looking forward to trying their dinner menu sometime.
Jenny Shaw
They have a wine selection that is out of this world. Their cheeses are amazing and the food is excellent.
The service is prompt and their staff is attentive. I highly recommend the lobster macaroni and cheese or the gorgonzola and fig pizza. Honestly everything I've tried there has been delicious!
Liana Williams
Stopped in unplanned and I am so glad I did. My husband and I sat at the bar, completely underdressed, with the intentions of ordering a cup of coffee to pass the time while we waited for our ferry.
What we ended up having was a complimentary tasting of 3 Madeira wines after ordering a glass that was suggested that paired beautifully with the apple crisp dessert we ordered. The servers were very knowledgeable about their offerings and fast and I only wish that we had more time to spend instead of having to run off (literally) for our ferry.
Jacob Hubbell
Mouthwatering entrees paired with a range of tasty and exciting wines that will leave you excited to come back. Truly exceptional customer service worthy of a 5-Star world class hotel. Relaxing and enjoyable to the last drop but save room for a tasty desert you won’t regret!
Jean Winthrop
Loved the views from the dining area, beautiful trees and golden light in the early evening. The menue has selection for most tastes. Our baked brie and lamb pizza was delicious. Four stars because the noise level is difficult to carry on a conversation.
Sebastian “Paaleez” Campbell-Cooper
Atmosphere, food, service exceptional. Had a lovely time.
Denise & Dave Foster
I just had a 20 person party in one if the back rooms at The Purple and the staff, food and wine were amazing. The pairings were superb. Anna and Tyler did such a great job, I remember Anna from another very positive dining experience there. I so appreciate her style. She was attentive and handled the crowd with such professionalism. I would highly recommend The Purple!

Was in Seattle for five days and came here twice, once for a work event and once just for dinner. Was not disappointed either time. Most amazing wine selection I've ever seen! Loved the pea shoot salad too.
