Reviews of Market Diner

Wherever I go I'm always searching for hidden little gems/unassuming places because you know you're almost always guaranteed a great meal at an affordable price. So I was really looking forward to breakfast at Market Diner.
It's your typical greasy spoon diner tucked away in an old building across from the main market @ Pike Place.
The service was polite & friendly.
The menus have definitely seen better days. They have pretty basic standard diner fare except they have Crab Eggs Benedict & I confirmed the Crab was real (not imitation) & apparently fresh. So that had to happen.
We also ordered a Grilled Chicken Sandwich w/Fries, The Philly Cheesesteak w/salad, two coffees & a Peanut Butter Milkshake.
The Benedict was okay. There was a good portion of Crab but it did not taste fresh. It tasted & looked canned. It was also cold. The hashbrowns kind of tasted like it was cooked in old oil & not on a high enough heat as they were very greasy. You could definitely taste the oil.
The other items I think were better. The others in the party enjoyed them & the portions were hearty. The fries were the same as the hashbrowns though, while crispy they were oil logged.
Coffee was standard & the milkshake tasted like a Reese Peanut Butter Cup.
Overall I'm glad I got to try this place, but with a bill at about $80 after tax & tip, I don't think I'd go out of my way to come here again.

Perfect little out-of-the-way diner inside Public Market just off Post Alley. I had a crab avocado omelet from their all-day breakfast menu. The omelet was stuffed with real crab meat and fresh mashed avocado, the hash browns were done perfectly (crispy and brown outside but soft and fluffy inside) and the English muffin was even crisply-toasted but still soft inside.
Prices are reasonable for the area.
I can recommend for a late breakfast in the Pike Place Market area!

I hate eating in touristy spots coz they are not authentic n not catering to locals. Came across Market Diner, small place with maybe 10 tables. I ordered French toast with sausage n coffee. Coffee was typical diner coffee that I enjoy. French toast was awesome, light n fluffy. Side of sausage was brought to table 10mins before the French toast came so it was a lil cold. No biggie but why not bring it all together.
Enjoyed my breakfast feeling satisfied. Good food, no wait and you don’t have to go thru 80 items to decide what u want like other touristy spots.

Great food, great service! Although its easy to miss, The Salmon and Chips were great, the fries were delicious and the salmon was very good. Great service, amazing food, 100% recommend!

Oh man...HIDDEN GEM!! Great breakfast!! We had Eggs Benedict & Pancakes & Eggs. I mean just delicious, southern cooking your mama would make for you Sunday morning! Really, really great and affordable.

A hidden gem, easily missed if you don't pay attention! Their clam chowder and kobe burger is my favorite, serves king crab legs and bunch other breakfast menus. Unlimited pancakes in the morning as well

I love this place! I'll start by saying that this is a small establishment and you can easily walk right by it if you are not really looking for it. I was turned on to this place by a couple of the fruit vendors who let me know that many that work in the market eat there. That is always a good sign. I have been many times the food has always been excellent. I'm partial to the Dungeness Crab Benedict. I've compared it to many others in the market and this is my favorite. The staff is also very nice and the service is fast. If you are in the area and want a really good crab Benedict, then this is the place to eat. I highly recommend it.

Good little hole in the wall. Best French fries I have ever had!! The fries were the perfect crunchy on the outside and warm and fluffy on the inside.
The girl serving and bussing was sweet, and being the only one on the floor, she was amazing at keeping up on everything, kudos to you!
Jacob Lee
I genuinely think their cheeseburgers and fries are some of the best in the city. They're really simple, well-priced, and well executed. The lady I've seen each time here is also blazing fast; she handles the entire restaurant by herself. Happy I found it.

Grabbed a Clam Chowder bread bowl for 10 bucks. Service is not bad. I'm from out of town so I don't know chowder, but it seemed pretty good! Everything else on the menu seems fried
William Brewer
Excellent place for getting some seafood benedicts (salmon and crab)
Marilyn Terry
This is a quaint little spot for breakfast. I ordered the Denver Ommlet. It was ok... I didn't finish it. They might have used roasted red peppers rather than bell that threw the taste off for me. The pancakes looked great at thr other table though... go for the pancakes.
Alice Jackson
Good classic dinner, service was really good, very close to everything being inside the market, good breakfast options for veggies too
CM Evans
Love this place. They didn’t waste any money on decor. Looks like some place in a strip mall but the food is killer.
John Schneider
Very small spot (seating for maybe 20) in the building across from the main Pike Place building. I live 2 blocks away and eat breakfast here every couple of weeks. The service is great even when busy, breakfast food is realllllly good (pancakes & hasbrowns specifically). The coffee is also extremely good, even for Seattle. If the weather is cool, it will be chilly in here too.
Reed Turner
Very small Diner in Post Street Alley! Great breakfasts. Especially the pancakes!!

Fresh ingredients, good value; would recommend. Burger was great

A little restaurant a little bit hidden, but great taste and at a great price, it looked empty but don't let that fool you about the quality and tastiness of the food.
Alita Moore
A perfectly average diner. Maybe slightly below average, but I think I came on a slow day. The bacon was 7$ and cold / wet. The pancakes were meh. The syrup was meh. The coffee was burnt (albeit, a staple of diners). They didn't have cocholate chip pancakes; which, is a first.
Maybe they do other dishes great but pancakes + bacon + coffee was sub par at best. And it's not exactly cheap.
Average average average.

What a great place to get a great meal at great price in the heart of Pike’s place and zero wait. Unlike most places in the area this little hidden gem generally had seating available. The food was what you expect to get at a diner and the coffee was welcomed. We came here several time and I would highly recommend this hidden gem.

Me and 3 of my kids ate here today, it was seriously a hidden gem inside Pike Place. My daughter and I got the mushroom swiss burger, my youngest got the BBQ burger, but the award goes to the Ruben my son had. He inhaled it, it was so good. Not really sure he chewed at all. Great service, clean tables, delicious food, all together it was a winner.

Sunday around noon we were walking around Pike Place market, looking for a quick bite and a quiet place to sit and talk with visiting friends. We discovered the cozy Market Diner tucked in a corner. We decided on the Kobe beef burger, served with smoky bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and sautéed mushrooms with a mountain of delicious crispy fries on the side. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. I love a good burger and this was the best I've had in ages. Would highly recommend!

We found this little place at the market. It wasn't busy (unlike many of the other restaurants here) so we knew we were taking a chance. We were pleasantly surprised! We were seated right away and were served exactly what we ordered. The food isn't fancy but it's tasty. The atmosphere is very simple but the service is excellent - they really make an effort to understand what you want. Not expensive.
Charlie Townsend
Fries are on point but everything else is just ok. Thought I was getting 3 pieces of salmon but really when I moved it I found out it was 2 and 1/4. Fish was not fresh but hey it's not terrible.
Angie Magness
One of my favorite market stops! Friendly service and delicious food! We love the clam chowder bread bowl, and the fish and chips!
Emily Rigby
Delicious salmon and chips!

Best Breakfast Deal in the Market in my opinion as a Market employee. Don't judge by the interior (get off your high horse already). 2 Breakfast sandwiches (Egg, bacon or Sausage and cheese on a english muffin) for $5 including tax is a ridiculous deal in my opinion in this day and age. You can even call ahead and pick it up. Good luck finding a better deal for a breakfast sandwich that doesn't taste microwaved or pre-made. Simple Fast and Cheap, if you expected more than show me a better option for 5 flat w/tax....mmmhm thought so. Have fun waiting in line for 30 minutes for a glory post on Instagram/Facebook at (insert overrated Pike Place tourist trap) not to sound like such a hipster but in my opinion its the truth for SOME spots. If you still have something to say its easier to hear you when your not yelling out the window of your Tesla. Just eat the damn sandwiches.
Jon (Jon)
They do what they do well, and for a reasonable price. Best fries in the market, hands down. And usually less crowded than other places, as it's kind of tucked away. If you need a break from the masses of the market, pop on in, grab a nosh, relax.
Carter
Hard to find , but amazing food & drink
Jonathan Red
Fun little place. Could be a little cleaner, but otherwise great food and good service. If you're looking for something a little cheaper and much less crowded I would definitely recommend the Market Diner.
Jasmine Moinette
Fresh halibut was delicious. Speedy service and affordable prices.

Clam chowder was pretty good. The bread bowl was great. Onion rings looked great, but I did not have any

Amazing! It was quiet when we went and it was perfect; everything tasted so good and everyone was really nice! I was going to take pictures of the food but was too excited to eat it!

(Translation) From the outside the place does not attract attention but the food and the attention was super good.
It is not comparable to an elegant restaurant or anything like that, but it is highly recommended for a more on-the-go meal.

Por fuera el local no llama la atención pero la comida y la atención estuvo súper buena.
No es comparable a un restaurante elegante ni nada por el estilo, pero súper recomendado para una comida más al paso.
