Reviews of Ivar's Salmon House
Clifton
Upscale casual environment with good, friendly and professional service. The view is decent and relaxing. They accommodated my party's vegetarian requests quite well. To start, I had the crab and goat cheese dip which was mild and tasty. Girlfriend ordered fried avocado tacos, and I had Taste of the Northwest, which had perfectly grilled coho salmon, delicate Alaska halibut, and amazing seared scallops. We finished it off with a creme brulee, which really hit the spot. It was pretty busy even at 4:30PM on Saturday, but had no problem with the reservation. I spent a fair amount of money but I think it was worth it. I'll be sure to try this spot again!

Took a visiting coworker to this restaurant because it felt like the best restaurant to represent the foods of the Pacific Northwest. The restaurant interior was very beautiful and was pretty busy. Decided to order this seafood combo because I love variety. A bit on the pricey side, but so worth it for the freshest top quality seafood. Everything was cooked well and tasted great.

They currently have a Feature Entree that was amazing - must try! It is the Alder Grilled Salmon with Snow Crab topping and Yukon Gold garlic smash. One of the best Salmon dishes I’ve had. We had other items in the menu that were good.
It has a nice view of Seattle and the water.
Kyle Huber
Really enjoyed the Taste of the NW entree. Fish was cooked perfectly.
The wine list is pretty good, with some creative cocktails as well.
Do your best to get a table by the window for spectacular views of Lake Union.

I have been here for a few times, i tried salmon and few other seafood items. They were all delicious.
- Nice decoration inside
- Very kind and friendly people
- Clean place in general
- View from windows is amazing. Seattle skyline, I-5 bridge, Lake Union all look beautiful. I recommend getting a table near window
- Internal decoration with art gives a very nice calming feeling
- Parking is usually ok, but problematic sometimes

Waterside restaurant, so there is some charm to it. It was crowded when we got there and we had to wait 20 mins after being seated before someone asked us anything. Food was okay, but nothing extraordinary. The view was not that spectacular, but it was a cloudy-rainy day. Once we ordered, food was delivered quickly.

Perfect fall weather on a Sunday morning for a reservation and was lucky to be sat on their outdoor patio. Great views as you are dockside on Lake Union, but a bit noisy with traffic crossing the bridge overhead. Boaters can pull up to their dock to dine in a 3 hour window. Food was solid and just filling enough. Service was fast and efficient. We were some of the first to be sat and order as they opened at 11:30. Got one of their free parking spots too!

This was my first time to this restaurant on lake union. But not my first to the Ivar’s chain restaurants. I live about 48 miles away from this establishment.. I must say this restaurant was the most beautiful and clean out of all of them. Today i came here with 7 others for lunch (11:30am) after we were done eating I ordered a large clam chowder but when I got home it looked like a small (a cup). Also my drink was never refilled.
Other than those two disappointing things the food and service was almost excellent.
Jennifer Pohly
Good food with an amazing view and ambiance! My personal favorite was the tuna. The salmon lacked flavor in my opinion, but was still perfect texture wise.
Catherine Petersen
Delicious food and beautiful views! Their alder grilled salmon with Yukon mash & asparagus was AMAZING. My dad had the northeastern platter with halibut, cod, shrimp & clams. The 4 ⭐️ rating was because his meal wasn’t the best he’s had there. Clams were a little overdone and he wished there had been more shrimp (just 2) and halibut. But, my dad comes by for dinner every time he’s in town, so that’s saying something.

It had been awhile since I’ve ate at this Ivar’s location. Do like the Native American Longhouse look. Met for mid afternoon lunch with some out of town friends who were on their way for an Alaska Cruise. Seem to work out well since the restaurant was not busy at all. Our waiter was excellent and food was great, not overly priced.
There is a “fast food” service area in front where you can order take out. There’s also a deck area on the water where you can eat along with a dock for those who choose to travel by water.
If you’ve never been here, it’s worth checking out.
Mari Vel
I would honestly come here just for the view! It's spectacular! The food is great aswell and the serving staff is fantastic! I always have a great time here!
Kevin Morimoto
Went for a birthday party and the food was Delicious (Appetizer Tower, Salmon Poke, Fried Northwest Platter) what prevented a 5 Star review was that twice our food was sent to the wrong table next to us.
Erline Coolidge
The salmon was very good. Cooked perfectly. It was a group dinner and we didn't have to pay. So I don't know what the prices were. They allowed us to alter our wine selection. The waiter was excellent at his job. He had 22 people to cater to.
carly cressman
It’s a 5 star environment and location and parking.
The food is just mediocre. Not bad. The ahi tuna app was the best part of the meal.
Worth checking out once or twice. Lots of nice seating.

The Salmon House is the home of one of Seattle's most recognized seafood brands tucked away on the shores of South Lake Unione this gigantic cabin features uniquely decorated, fully carved wood trim and an incredible atmosphere has a deck just right to Lake Union where you can enjoy a sunny afternoon with your family and friends, I recommend you order the classic Chrome chowder and some other dishes to share at the table, the taste is quite good and the prices are very accessible. quite wide and you will spend a pleasant time in one of the secret places that this city has.

My date and I both wanted the sit down Ivar's experience as I have heard good things about this Seattle area favorite. We started with outside waterfront seating which was endearing but deafening from the nearby freeway and a bit cold so we moved inside. The service was abrupt but acceptable as our waitress was exhausted at the end of her shift, it did take 15 minutes to get a beer though. The food was the weak point, the halibut was a bit overcooked but the rest of the northwest basket was okay except the fries. For a $20+ the fries which were most of the basket were incredibly limp and disappointing, and the fish that wasn't overcooked was on par with any $10 Friday night fish fry at a local bar. If I were to return, it wouldn't be to the salmon house but to the small street food side of the restaurant.
Mikayla Cole
The waitress was wonderful and attentive. The view was amazing! The food, however, was very bland. The amount of food was good for the price. There were no free refills for soda which I didn't know and the price for that was way too high.
Maria
Good food, nice staff at the outdoor bar windows to take orders. Awesome views on the lake (take walkway to waterside behind the restaurant). But do prepare for the worst "order taking workflow" you've ever seen!!! Give part of grill order at one window, get in separate line to give drink or side orders & then pay. Either they upgrade their POS so that 2 order receipts come out for different staff and we can pay all at once, or they keep one line in/out (fix the barrier so all people flow to the 2nd window w/o interrupted flow). The 2 separate signs with "instructions" are confusing, so we end up wasting time asking the poor cashier to confirm the order & pay process. When it's busy, like a summer Sunday afternoon or evening then the chaos is amplified! It's the most ANNOYING WASTEFUL WORKFLOW! I'm sorry to the Cashier's and workers for getting grumpy but it's confusing and a broken process. Fix it; get a POS workflow consultant to make a proposal and upgrade.
Jim Olave
Great seafood especially the Salmon. Definitely will return. Very good service and the place is awesome!
Sarah Baker
Great food. Sat at the water's edge and watched the water traffic on Lake Union. I had the lunch combo of clam chowder (creamy and flavorful!) And the shrimp brochette. The seasonal vegetable was green beans. They were cooked perfectly al dente and provided the perfect balance to the fish. Service was a little slow, but server was polite and professional. Great stop for tourists.
Fifty Five Kay (Vince 916)
The food was excellent and the staff was attentive! It is easy to see why it was a favorite restaurant of my Aunt and Uncle. And the views are great! Just what the family needed.
Abdul Aziz Bah
Got the Pistachio Crusted Halibut, it was delicious, the rice gave me a taste of Senegalese benachin. The server was great, loved his customer service. The view was also amazing so will definitely check it out more often.
Deena Dahbour
Nice outdoor seating. I tried the northwest sampler I think it's called. It was ok. Kind of dry so I asked for more sauce and it tastes better after. Not sure I would go again though. Kind of overpriced for a plate that I didn't feel was too special. My friend ordered the salmon pasta and she said it was good. Honestly the 3 stars were for the outdoor seating with a nice view and by the water.
Joe
Our server was knowledgeable of the menu and had great recommendations. Our table on the water was beautiful, though a little noisy with the local freeway, but still a fun, relaxing atmosphere.
My wife had the king salmon and loved it. I had the strip steak, which can be a throwaway item on a seafood menu, and it was bonkers food. So tender.
It’s a nice place. Check it out.
Dave Gustafson
Very tasty salmon, and the decor & atmosphere were nice. Great views of the water and Seattle skyline.
Travis Michels
Views from the patio were gorgeous. Slightly overpriced, food was plated extremely bland and didn't have much flavor beside just the fish fillet taste, but those were cooked well. I'll likely be back, just wasn't quite a 5 star experience.
American Dance Institute
Ivar's Salmon House promises exceptional food, value, and, oh, what views. We entertained dear friends from out of town who enjoy good food, so we searched restaurants for a place with good food, good value, and something extra.
I chose Ivar's Salmon House for the above reasons, its reputation, appealing "Native Long House inspired" architecture by Seattle architect John Adams and fantastic waterfront views.
Much more interesting than the Seattle waterfront restaurant views, IMHO. Northlake is a busy, busy place with boats, both large and small (paddle boards), going by all evening.
The Seattle Needle lies to the west, and the city skyline to the east. As nighttime darkness descended, lights on the boats, skyline, and the Needle all came to life. The whole experience was magical.
Bob Morgan
Views, views and more views. Right of the water with good food and of course their world class chowder. Off the beaten path but known as a great waterfront option.
Robert Howard
Got the best table in the place, the SW corner of the dining room. Gone is the great corn bread & the substitute dinner roll was a bit stale. The King Salmon lunch, however, was excellent! Wish that the beer menu had some barrel-aged stouts & porters but they had have something dark & full-bodied.
Grant Dishman
Fantastic lakeside venue with a stunning view serves incredibly fresh seafood. Started with a bit of their world famous clam chowder and a mixed green salad with a zesty balsamic. Main course was fresh crab crakes with mango salsa. Watched the sunset as we finished dinner. If you are in Seattle you definitely want to put this on your menu…
Sami Saurus
The food here is amazing. And the service is fantastic as well. And it's a GREAT view of the city! Our salmon was a bit dry, but they were happy to swap for a more moist piece. Its a great place for a nice dinner.
Bill Mackin
Maybe our waitress was very busy, but our food arrived warm instead of hot. My red potatoes were a little undercooked. The fish I had was nothing special. My scallops were done well, but they reminded me why I don't normally order scallops; no flavor. The view outside was very nice as the sun was setting over the city and the lights were coming on.
Antoinette De Santo
Nice to be inside salmon house. Unfortunately, the restaurant was not quite ready for the crowds on Father's Day. Food was good but not great. Repeatedly heard wait staff apologizing for order errors, issues. Wait staff had way too many tables to provide the EXCELLENCE in service normally given to guests. Waited 25 min. for 1 dessert and even the burnt cream was overly burnt.
Usually a spectacular experience but today fell a little flat. Appreciate the effort and know it will improve with time.
Alisha Nicole
Best seafood around. Ask for table 9, you won't be disappointed. It is the best seat in the house with spectacular views. We come here when I go to Seattle for my cancer treatment and this is always something I look forward too. Service is always great and food is sooo delicious 😋
Haley O'Connell
Order one of there many salmon dinners and you won't be disappointed. The serving sizes were ample and tasty. There are better places to go in Seattle if you're craving fish and chips. Service was friendly, but they seemed a bit understaffed.
Antoine Victor
The food is great! I loved the smoked salmon chowder! Unfortunately because of Covid the dining room and bar are not open 😡
The chowder bar is open so you can order your food and eat on the patio... Hopefully the bar and dining room or at least the bar and patio will be open by summer!
Maybe then I'll increase my rating to 4 or 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐
Henry Woodward
We ate at Ivar's on New Year's Eve, 2022. It was a large party, me and my wife, my Mom, two sisters and their husbands, my brother, and my niece and her girlfriend. Neither Google Maps nor Siri were able to accurately guide us to the location... both got close, but would never have gotten us there if we hadn't seen a sign from a couple of blocks away. The food was good and the service was OK... I think the staff was stressed and in hurry to prepare for the big party they were having from 9PM until midnight. My sisters (both Seattle residents) highly recommend the place, and swear that sitting on the patio is the greatest thing to do in the summer. Maybe, but I-5 runs right over the top, and to me, the traffic noise is overwhelming.

This is about the famous Clam Chowder at the restaurant. I have ordered this almost every time I visited the restaurant. It was delicious, creamy, sea food taste until last night when I ordered one. It was extremely white like bleached wheat flour, gooey, tasteless,..
Please make sure you offer the quality food as you usually do.
Dajion Grant
Simple, no fuss fish n' chips spot. I went for the cajun classic and enjoyed the seasoning which was just the right amount and the tender flaky cod. One member of my party ordered the salmon and was disappointed in the lack of flavor in that meal. Another member had shrimp which they had no issues with.
gene yee
100% better than Ivars Captains Table food wise ! The Manila clams were VERY good ! No sand in them and they tasted right ! the fish & chips all nice large pieces of fish still hot ! unfortunately the Cod sandwich was supposed to be pan fried, instead it was deep fried. Other than that, Very satisfied !
Syndy Blair
The view and service were incredible! It's a shame the food was so bland! I ordered a coconut shrimp that I think got mixed up with a teriyaki rather than citrus sauce that was gross. For $17. Portions were overwhelming I think in an attempt to compensate for lack of flavor. The crab cakes were ok. Nothing to write home about. I think I'd prefer not to dine there again based on cost and lack of taste. Otherwise, it was a positive experience.
Siyu C
I ordered some Ivar's famous fish and chips here. The fish was ok, it might just be not the right season yet. The service looks great but I didn't really get to experience it since I ordered takeout.
AJ Shina
Visited for the first time in 6 or 7 years. Food was still fantastic, you can't beat the patio views on a nice day. The service was friendly, but very, VERY slow. Took over 90 mins to have lunch, it wasn't very busy either. Got a comped soup for our troubles.
Joe Hochwalt
All 6 in our party had good meals. Service started a bit slow and the server wrapped up a couple other groups. He was very engaged with the group and snapped photos of us for posterity.
Hunter Freedman
My favorite Chowder bowl place in Seattle. Not as expensive as the boardwalk Chowder places and way better tasting.
Soo delicious with the sourdough bread bowl.
Monique Holston-Greene PA
Service wasn't great at all. Waited atleast 20+minutes before waiter even said hello. We almost left! Food ended up being really good but service sucked. Next time in town, I would give it 1 more try to see if it was just a freak situation...
Richard Sutton
Nice restaurant but casual and unpretentious. Not the best seafood in town but great for families and visitors.
Dani Tworek
Halibut is out of this world and the atmosphere is awesome. Great daily happy hour as well. Ivar's never disappoints.
BRIAN OHARA
Fantastic location on the lake; numerous salmon options as well as other fish including the always wonderful halibut fish & chips.Plenty of parking - - best to make reservation.
Ginette DiDomenico
Right on lake union. great diff margarita with cranberry. Tried the NW platter and it was delicious and fresh tasting
Launi Harrell
I've been here before, and each time am impressed by the service and freshness of the food Worth waiting for happy hour.
Xochitl Castaneda
This is a really special place to break bread with family and friends. The food is good, the view is the space needle and downtown. The decor is pacific northwest native American.
Brandon Crain
Wonderful food and a beautiful restaurant! Everyone was very kind and attentive making our night out very enjoyable.
pelican antics
Food was very well cooked and seasoned. Definitely a place you go if you are wanting low carb fish entrees. I wish they had a little more on the menu but overall it was a good experience with a good atmosphere.
Michael Kirk
Another great dinner with family. Great food, great service, great view.. after 40 years still the best..
Mark McVay
Great spot right in the lake. Very friendly staff. Good food. Under the highway so outside tables a bit loud. We arrived by kayak which made it more fun!
Heather R
This is my favorite Ivar's location and I've been going there for many, many years. I sat on the deck on a beautiful day and enjoyed a wonderfully-prepared meal. The food there has never disappointed me. One thing I did notice because I was alone and not distracted by conversation is how noisy it is out there because you're basically under I-5. I didn't care, though. It's still beautiful and fun to watch all the goings on on the water.
Clay Major
Gorgeous views, fantastic cocktails, a unique and charming atmosphere, and the seafood was incredible.
Zhaolin Zhang
Awesome location with a great view! Be sure seating on the outside area to see the space needle
Connie Hanson
Excellent service and great shareable appetizers. My dinner caesar salad was not good. The dressing had no flavor at all. So I don't recommend the caesar.
Fernando Lopez
First off let's start with the good, the place is put together to look like a traditional log house with some amazing art pieces commissioned from tribes in the Pacific Northwest and it has some amazing views of the city from lake Union. The food on the other hand is more akin to something you would find at an olive garden, the pesto pasta with salmon was bland and so oily you couldn't taste the salmon in it, the apps were all very firmly entrenched in the "did they get this pre made from their supplier territory", and I'm not saying they were bad just very average, the one standout was the pistachio crusted halibut, really nice cut of fish and the tomato relish really popped so i would definitely get that one again! If you just want a place with a nice view you could do worse but in a city like Seattle you can also do much better at that price point.
Lizzy Thorne
The salmon here is to die for, and the views are spectacular. It's worth every penny to eat here.
Diane Frazier
Partyof 4. Great food. Matt was a nice server. Loved the table by the water. Desserts were good. My only complaint was the whipped cream on the creme broken was full of salt. Wasn't very appetizing with tge rest of dish and I had to remove it. It was communicated to server who said he would let cooks know (?) So I guess that was it.
Mary G
Guests to Seattle always live the Salmon House. It's a double pleasure when our table of 6 absolutely cleaned their plates! Cudos to staff and cooks. Keep up the good work. We'll keep showing you off.
Barbara Kramer
The food was wonderful as usual . EXCEPT I wouldn't have ordered desserts if I had known there was no coffee available. On top of it, this was an annual birthday dinner .
Sandy Sproule
Ivars Salmon House is a must for us to treat out of town guests to food,NW culture and incredible Seattle views. BUT, this time the halibut and chips were expensive and we just barely could find two pieces in the large basket deliverec to the table....the cole slaw and tartar were twice the size of fish pieces delivered. Our server was wonderful so we didn't make a fuss. We treated our guests to better fish and chips once we returned to Bham. What a food disappointment.
Chaz Vossburg
Great views of downtown Seattle and the water. The food was excellent as well. Cajun Salmon and Chips was delicious. Their clam chowder is also really good.
Fred Gowin
Best crabcakes I've ever had. The cornbread pudding was very good, and the grilled broccoli hit the spot.
george jahn
Nice enough. Food was good, simple enough menu, noisy. I guess prices are the new normal, at least compared to pre-pandemic.
Sue Frause
I hadn't been here since the '70s. Nice atmosphere and view, but the food here is not up to par compared to their Mukilteo restaurant. I was surprised and disappointed. But fine service!
Jim Wright
Excellent food preparation, & quality. Attentive service. Charming ambiance & beauriful views of lake Washington. One of our favirites in Seattle.
Joyce Rice
I was there for a large, catered, goodbye event. Great meeting room/space. Now to the food - the best part was the salmon. The asparagus was lovely. Pasta was alright.
The construction surrounding the area is over the top and you want to plan well for arrival, if you have a specific meeting time.
Jonathan Silliman
Very pricey, but a classic Seattle institution. I’m always partial to the crab cakes, and they make a mean bowl of chowder.
Wyatt Mauldin
Waiter was quick and out of our way. We got a beautiful spot by the lake inside and let me tell you, the food was AMAZING. Super fresh and full of flavor. Absolutely loved my experience.
Matt Casey
I love Ivar's. Got the jumbo prawn and fries with cocktail sauce – sooo good. Also love their salmon chowder and clam chowders.
Dom Weldon
The same Ivars we know and love but with a beautiful view of the lake and downtown. Definitely worth a visit.
Arlene Beauprey
The view is amazing, the restaurant is so clean!! The people who work there are fantastic!! The food is outstanding and delicious 😋😋 I would give this place a 20 on a scale of 1-10!!! I plan on going back over and over again!!! Love this restaurant!!!!!😍😍♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ …
nancy talbott
It was fine. Food didn't come out as ordered. Drink glasses were empty often. Server seemed perturbed that we assumed bread was complimentary. He was quick to tell us that it wasn't in any restaurant which is absurd. We had just had dinner downtown Seattle and sourdough flowed unabated. We had 7 in our party
Our bill was substantial.
Donna Ivarsen
Good food, and service, beautiful place to sit outside along Lake Union
Kevin Vliet
The Alaskan Halibut & Chips was delicious comfort food but the Rhubarb Crisp was a tad bit sour.
Scott Goins
Awesome food nice view great service from our waiter Paul. Will visit next time I'm in Seattle.
Eric Hang
Takes reservation, great service, great food. Kid friendly
Evie Allen
Best atmosphere around! We love to take out of Towner's here for the views and food is good too. Great happy hour menu!
Ross V
Whether you walk up to the Fish Bar or have a reservation inside at the Salmon House, you'll get delicious food, friendly service and a view of Lake Union. My family and I have been coming here for 40-ish years and it's always a good choice. My most recent visit was my first in almost three years: my sister and I got oysters and chips then walked around to the seating area on the dock. Good food, great company, 75 degrees, and a view of the Space Needle. A fantastic lunch.
Matt Levey
Incredible views from an awesome setting. The food was outstanding and the staff great, they really accommodated our large group with grace.
JOSE MIGUEL ASTURIAS CALDERON
Best salmon ever! Highly recommend this place!
Uday Shanbhag
Beautiful restaurant and bar. Very good choice of cuisine. Nice fish dishes. Beautiful place to sit and dine. Worth visiting more than once.
Mark Hillman
The Salmon House is always a favorite. Great view and a wonderful place to bring out of town guests. They're happy hours one of the happiest in town. A real iconic and historic Seattle area restaurant.
Charleen Lee
The food was delicious! And the view was beautiful.
Ed S.
Ivar's Salmon House is an icon in Seattle and a treasure. The Salmon House is fabulous but this rating is for the quick service fish bar out side.
The fish n' chips are amazing--5 Stars! My issue every time I'm there is that all the tables, all the time are dirty. They have food matter on them and they're never wiped down. Gross. If they could clean up a little better I'd be appreciative.
Lisa Benzel
We rented the Nisqually room and had a medical school graduation party with heavy appetizers from the catering menu. The food was spectacular, service (thanks Brad & Nate) was superb, and the view was splendid. We will go back again!
Deniz Twelves
Honestly the food was just ok. We had the seafood tower, some sort of bizarre clam dish, and a bowl of soup. At these prices the seafood should be much better quality. Go to Chinooks instead. The views of the water are lovely but this place is very outdated for a fine dining experience in 2022. The service was very spotty for a Saturday night.
Robert Hallwood
Great place for seafood dinner. Menu options are not extensive, but NW fish varieties are covered. Terrific grilled halibut dish. Their clam chowder is okay, on the mild side. Sadly their coleslaw is tasteless. I go for the seafood. Scenic setting.
Lori Smith
Certainly not the best food, but not the worst. My $40 halibut entree was just okay. Very underseasoned, could have desperately used a sauce like a lemon beurre blanc or something with flavor. The mashed potatoes were cold and in need of salt. Hot food should be hot and not plated 15 minutes before being served! The best part of the meal was definitely the view and visiting with family.
Lindsay
Very expensive for lunch, but very delicious too. The decor is great, the view of Lake Union is wonderful, and the service is excellent. One of my favorite places to eat when the patio on the water is open.
Garrett Steele
Fantastic place to go! Great view of SLU into Seattle! Go early to get outdoor seating 👍 …
Eric Kang
Very good food, very beautiful views of lake union and downtown Seattle
Maruf Z
The interior of this restaurant is amazing! Nice wooden Polynesian interior with a sick view of the lake!
Katie Burns
Delicious restaurant. Outside offers views of Lake Washington while inside seating is surrounded by beautiful wood carvings done in the style of the local tribes.
Jonna Oral
We came from out of town and had a wonderful dinner. Halibut fish and chips were the best I’ve ever had. Wonderful food and excellent views.
James Thompson
I had the Blackened Halibut and my wife had the the Taste of the Northwest. Both were excellent. The service was great.
Todd Osborn
What more to say, Ivar's is legendary. I always try to visit when I'm in Seattle, never disappoints.
Pavan sai
Great food with good view of south lake union.
Try their Salmon platter.
Vivian Zirk
Prices for lunch seemed steep but service and food was good.
Andrew Hoehn
I’ve always put Ivar’s in the “tourist trap” category, but we decided to give it a shot on a recent Seattle weekend, and were really happily surprised.
Very pleasant ambiance. Fantastic nighttime views of the Space Needle across the water. Seriously good fish, good options for kids and great service. We’ll definitely be back.
Jim Jaskovsky
The server, Marcus was terrific. My lunch not so much. The clam chowder was decent. I had the Cesar salad, which was bland with fried calamari on top. The calamari would have been excellent except it was cold when served.
Ashkan Talaee
Nicely waterfront located restaurent with good view to space needle with good sea food and service.
Denize Kearns
The food was wonderful and the decor was super unique.
kdzy
Absolutey delicious and the staff went above and beyond...

The chowder here is super good! It was pretty inexpensive and the ordering was quick!
Steven Sterner
Awesome. The place is great for out of town guests and those special evenings. Food is great. The atmosphere is so relaxing. I just can't say enough good things about this restaurant. I love the place.
Jennifer Rao
Casual Lunch - Spectacular View - Beautiful Architecture - Wonderful Native American Art - Good Service - Well Cooked and Diner-Style Plated “Alder Grilled King Salmon”!
Aldous George
I tried the Duo Salmon. It was aight. Nothing to complain about but wasn't particularly impressed. Perhaps it was my high expectations.
URWILCOM
My favorite location. Great fish and chips with a great view of downtown Seattle.
Scott Simon (Walis)
The food is good but, best of all, it also offers a very rich ethnographic collection of art by Northwest coastal First Nations peoples.
Martin Eyman
Beautiful view excellent waitress, reasonable prices excellent food !

A Seattle icon. We used the walk up window to get a take out lunch of clam chowder and fish & chips. One of the few establishments that offers both Boston*and* Manhattan style chowder (my favorite). Took a while to get out order filled, but I think maybe staffing shortage may be the reason. Still worth the wait.
Paul Boultbee
Run of the mill. Our table was a large group and had different halibut specials and nothing was special. Fish cuts were end pieces or uneven, slightly overcooked and dry on top. Wine list limited.
Denise
While we were in the boat we noticed another boat docked, so we decided to give this a shot. The inside was not open to eat inside due to the covid, but could order from outside. It had heaters when waiting in line and when we waited for the food, which was nice.
The smoked salmon chowder was delicious and the salmon plate was good. I enjoyed the rice and corn bread.
Peter Leung
A wide selection of great salmon and other seafood options.
Lois Mandell
Delicious food, fish was so fresh and our waitress was very attentive. Would definitely come back here.
Jedidiah Bartlett
Food was good, nice ambiance. Wait staff was very green, servers and other staff corrected mistakes quickly, but we werent explained that they were having happy hour when we ordered so got different portions, service was very slow. There was a good soccer game on that seemed to be pre-occupying the wait staff.
Mischa M
All stars for the view and gorgeous wooden interior.
Crab cakes and calimari were overbreaded, extremely oily.
I did not try the desserts, but maybe it's better for that or cocktails?
Cable_Guy613 M
Perfect dinner. I liked their coconut shrimp and the cedar plank salmon.
Bret Fair
I've also responded via email, but figure I might as well post here too.
I ordered the Clam Chowder, Salmon Duo, Ivarita, and Barrel Aged Manhattan.
My partner ordered the Taste of the Northwest, the cheesecake, the Maple Old Fashioned and the
Blood Orange cosmo.
The clam chowder was reasonably good, and priced well for the quantity served.
The Sockeye Salmon was well prepared. The Coho salmon on both plates was overcooked and dry. I did not try the halibut, but the scallops were small and overcooked. The potatoes on both dishes were enjoyable, the greenbeans were ok (a bit overcooked).
The cocktails left a lot to be desired. They were incredibly straightforward with little to set them apart from any other bar/restaurant (aside from the addition of maple to the old fashioned, which was cloyingly sweet).
The review is from the perspective of cost-value ratios. If I had the same food served at half the price, I'd be rating it 4*, but at this cost I'd expect far better quality control.
I presume a large part of the price is simply to cover the cost of the view, but for the price charged I feel the food was precisely "Okay," so rated it accordingly.
Jim Rawley
Our waiter Paul crushed it and the bartenders, pre-meal, were a blast!
David Thomas
Salmon was OK.... Not good for a place that has its name as such. I was expecting amazing.

Mood - Coming Home
I am a weirdo I will admit it. I like fish, but I dont like it when there is a profound fishy taste. I enjoy sushi as long as it is not fishy tasting. This is where my being spoiled, as to how fish is supposed to taste comes into play. Growing up around the ocean and on the Puget Sound we know the fish is caught daily and everything is fresh. Going to Ivars was always one of those things we would get excited about as kids. So I knew it was a must.
Upon entering was greeted with great customer service and ushered over to a table right by the water. Funny part, when I lived in Seattle I would always get seated at the table right beside the table I sat at this day. So of course my mind was flooded with memories.
Opted for the Famous Fish and Chips of course. The taste was beyond familiar and just as I remembered. Add some of the Malt Vinegar, def that Tartar Sauce and My Oh My. A little piece of heaven in my mouth. So flaky , so perfect.
Interior is wonderful. Totems carved out of wood everywhere. It was very clean. The staff was very hospitable and courteous. Even offering suggestions on what else to get. Exterior is amazing. There is outdoor seating, and if your lucky enough there is a boat dock for you to pull right on up and tie your boat for a quick bite.
Would most def recommend - pricing is reasonable. It almost felt like I went back in time. Not much has changed. Maybe just the faces that are now working there.
Peggy Reiber
Always a wonderful time--great views. Everyone raved about their meals from Salmon and fish sandwiches to fish and chips--all at Happy Hour prices!!
Kristi Cundy
Delicious food. Many choices. Reasonably priced. Great service and wait staff. Beautiful views from most tables. Will definitely return!
Mattison Hain
I would limit ordering to the fish and chips, which were very good. I was a little disappointed with the salmon salad.
Jessica Norgard
Love the scenery and the food!
solomon melles
Our server was not good, we tip him $20, and he said he looked awesome tips, and he was not happy.
Celeste Delostrinos
Delicious seafood plus a great view of Lake Union and downtown Seattle.
William Beuttler
Awesome meal!! Great service and wonderful food!
Natalie Tsui
Great menu with a wonderful water view. Service is always good, one of my favorite place for happy hour.
Bj Hedahl
Icon building with huge wooden beams and native canoes hanging from ceiling. A wall of windows overlooking Lake Union and downtown Seattle with a dock to arrive by boat or sit outside. The menu is all about fish, with many options and presentations. The bar serves up it's own menu with local drinks of many varieties. There is also an outside walkup window for to-go fish-n-chips. Parking lot is fairly large but can be busy....
Patrick Hollister
Indoor dining has reopened! Crab cake on a salad. It was good. I like crab. Some of the ingredients overpowered the crab. Not my favorite crab cake in town. The ambiance of this place is wonderful!
Anne Nguyen
Food is always amazing here. Love the drinks too. We had a table of 17 with most of the people being kids. The server was so good to keep everything straight and even separated our checks.
Definitely worth checking out if you never been.
Highly recommended the outside patio during nice weather. Amazing view of the water and fun to see boats go by. Truly a Seattle icon spot.
John Sanchez
Extremely nice staff! Food was a but expensive, but it was very good. You pay for the vibes and I think it's totally worth it.
Chris Millar
I'm so glad that this Seattle icon opened it's doors again! They do that alder smoked salmon right! The Longhouse with its location on Lake Union provides an excellent setting to take in views of the city while sampling salmon.
R Tan
Service was great, but the Ceasar salad was drowning in dressing. Chowder is good. Don't understand why a staple salad is made so poorly
Josh Lang
First visited in November 2021. Liked it so much I flew back to Seattle to visit my uncle but told him it was also to get my Ivar's fix
Brian Moore
The food was fabulous. Had the seafood medley. Service was also very friendly. Place has great ambience, the walk there was a little rough.
Bob C
Best clams around rated this well though for location it's perfect. The other menu items are are okay
Sophie Jerwick
My caesar salad with crab was perfect! (Appropriately) inflated pricing for the great view.
Amie Look
Went there for brunch today. In the past 30+ years have probably been to brunch here about 5 times. It is ALWAYS wonderful & today was no different. All the food was EXCELLENT - ate in the bar to get a view table right away. Our waiter was helpful, not overly present, but just enough. I was taken aback by the note in with the bill explaining that tipping is not necessary (due to the recent min wage being increased to $15). But it was very informative & useful. Ended up leaving about a %10 tip even though the explanation was thorough & noted how well the staff is paid & compensated in other ways. The waiter never let on that we weren't expected to tip, yet still gave us excellent service. I don't live in the area anymore so this is always a special treat. If you want to impress someone from out of town I would highly recommend treating them to the Sunday brunch at Ivar's Salmon House.
Alex Song
Friendly service, decent food, great views!
Paloma Pineda
Spectacular service!!! The food was good. Had some great drink recommendations from the waiter. Got there during happy hour, very good deal!
Autumn Seyler
Staff was friendly and accommodating, the fish and chips aren't quite as good as the ones on the other side of the building, no nonalcoholic beverages listed on their website so had to order a drink in person.
Briant Cummens
Food was good. Setting is great, staff and service were exceptional. Happy hour sharables were reasonably priced. The main menu is a bit pricey.
Justa Girl
This is a classic Seattle institution and you can't beat the view of Lake Union. You can go into the Salmon House for traditional dining or pick up outside. But go inside. They have a really great happy hour menu of all your seafood favorites everyday. It only becomes $$$$ if you order a specialty item. Either way food is great. Well, the Salmon Chowder has always been a little too salty for my taste but good food overall.
Gabriel Salcedo
Good place and good food. Tried the taste of the NW. Portions could be a little bigger (wouldn't mind paying a little extra). Service is ok
J. Gatica
Tasty salmon entrée. Great service. Lakeside location. We chose to die inside a opposed to on the dock. But you can pull up on your boat and dine here if you do choose.
Tammy Angrimson
Best seafood I have ever tasted. The staff were so friendly and nice. The view was beautiful
Carly Revier
Very mediocre seafood if you're ordering from the window. Got fish & chips and a salmon salad. The chips were soggy and the fish was fine, nothing great. The salmon on the cesar was flavorless, and the cesar salad was bland and boring. Pretty much a pile of romaine with a tiny bag of not-fresh croutons and cesar dressing. I had to doctor it up at home with more cheese and fresh cracked black pepper, though it was still lacking. For nearly $30 for lunch, I expected more.
Mike Christensen
Awesome place, great service, great food, great views.
Nothing bad to say about it.
Shashideep Chaudhari
Excellent food and service accompanied by nice ambiance and view of south lake union and space needle. Expect delays on weekend oh well, don't go this place in hurry.
Andrew Monary
My wife and I were in Seattle for the afternoon and decided catch an early dinner at the Salmon house. Got seated a table by the window the view is great. Tried the smoked salmon chowder and both of us had the Salmon sampler. Which was delicious 3 types of Salmon. It was fun to compare the taste of the different salmons. All fire grilled and a little smoky. The mashed potatoes were silky and had small chunks of skin and potato in them, which I liked. The seasonal veggie was brussel sprouts which were nicely cooked with some a little firm and some softer, I also like this variety. Will be back to try some more of the menu.
HARMONY O
I HAD THE COHO SALMON (BLACKENED) AND GARLIC MASHED POTATOES AND SQUASH TOSSED IN BUTTER .... SO YUMMY! THANK YOU I haven't been there in 30 years I was expecting corn bread n honey bring it back so good !
Wyatt Delahunt
Great overall experience here. For guaranteed seats always call and make reservations though. I'm a big salmon fan, so I always have to try it out a whatever seafood place I'm at. Ended up going with a seared sockeye and they cooked it perfectly. Not overdone in any spots and the butter sauce worked well with it. The server was only around when they needed to be, so that's a plus. I like my dinners to be private. Well, as private as it can be in a public restaurant.

Robert Cala Sr.
Service was spectacular, waitress are very efficient and trying to make sure you feel welcome. The food was good, except the salmon was a little bit overcooked, other than that...it's a pleasurable place.
Nathan Winning
Very good food and great views. Service was very friendly and the atmosphere inside was really nice. Loved the decor. Really enjoyed our meal here!
Nick Pisciotta
Had an amazing experience here. All of the fish is incredibly fresh and salads are very tasty. There is a good selection of wine, and the chowder is to die for. Ambiance is perfect; try to get a table near the water. Little pricey, so come prepared to spend some change.
Ray Ray
We used to go to the Lobster Shop for Brunch..... NOT ANYMORE!!! The Salmon House is WAY BETTER!!! Fresh Seafood and a huge variety to chose from.. The staff are amazing and all very friendly! ! The best part about the Brunch is the BLOODY MARY BAR!!! The views are also amazing.... Everything about this place is Amazing.. We always have a good time and leave stuffed whenever we come here.... So glad I found this place.....
Karyn Porter
This is a great place to bring family and out of town guests for lunch and dinner. Great city and lake views. The food honors the great Pacific Northwest with fresh seafood cooked just how you love it! Other food options as well. The blackened salmon salad is so delicious! Staff is attentive.
Mollie Harms
My parents visited from Michigan last weekend so I wanted to do something special. This was a really great choice. We went on Sunday for Brunch - the food was excellent, fresh, plentiful, our server was attentive and kind, the views were great, the restaurant was beautiful, and it was worth every dollar. Come with an empty stomach, and start with the unlimited crab legs!
Douglas Fong
Great fresh seafood. Service was a bit slow though as the place was was packed. Great views.
Daniel Roberts
Cool old school grill with lots of native art and wonderful views.
James Gill
The fish bar is out front from the more upscale Ivar’s salmon house. A casual place to order at the counter and grab a table down at lake union or next to the counter. Had the salmon entree with rice and a side of chowder. Excellent food and service here, highly recommended!
Melissa Ploeckelman
Yum! Great view! Wonderful food! Had a party of 6 and EVERYONE loved the food they got! Totally worth a visit!
Ben Slivka
A Seattle Institution. Great views, lots of room, efficient staff, reasonable prices. Not fit for foodies, but otherwise fun.
Nicholas Richter
This is the Ivar's to go to (unless you specifically plan to walk on to the ferry). Parking is plentiful and you have a choice of either the outside fry bar and eating out on the barge, or going inside for a nicer meal. Some of it is the same, so if you are there for fish and chips you can stick outside.
The happy hour here is also a pretty good deal. It is food specials, but the prices are reasonable and you get a view of the lake while you eat. If you are eating inside, this is what I recommend.
Shemeka Archer-Grundy
Enjoyed my meal. Great seating by the window overlooking the water. Could've gotten a little more attention from our waitress towards the end but good service otherwise.
Craig Jorgensen
Great food. Great views of the ship canal and the city. Wonderful service. Reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere. What more can one want?
Alex Chambers
Great location with some nice views of the lake and downtown Seattle. Food was solid but nothing outstanding. It's a big space so probably good for large parties.
David Nickerson
Great food, love the outdoor seating deck looking out over the water. Bit pricey, but worth it...at least for the salmon.
Mike Carson
Great Sunday Brunch! I loved it!
LOTS of selection with QUALITY food. (includes Ivar's famous fish-n-chips & chowder) Also had excellent service from the wait staff...our coffee & waters were never 1/2 full (I'm an optimist)
Really about the best value around for only $29 (my 3 year old son, Max Danger, ate for free!)
Recommend reservations... (did ours on my Droid phone)
Sharon Callaway
Our favorite meal while visiting Seattle! Amazing service and delicious entrees! Wish all of our meals while visiting PNW had been as yummy as Ivars. A must have!
Ann Weinzierl
Wonderful views of the water and city. Watched a bunch of classic wooden boats cruise by. The scallops and salmon were amazing
Shadow
The food is always amazing and the views are too.
Abby D
Excellent service, good food. Requested a seat by the window and they honored the request which was awesome. Nice view of lake union and clam chowder was great. Would recommend.
Brian Harrison
Delishious food, good view and fun friends. Had some salmon skewers and mussels, very tasty.
Ashman Dodd
Great food and theme. Was recommended by mutiple people. Service was very polite and helpful. They have a large selection of different salmon to try. Amount of food is generous as well. Would return again.
Cathy Clark
Great atmosphere, lake front views, Northwest decor, awesome waiter and happy hour specials. Get Uber from downtown Seattle. I had the salmon combo wow
Daniel Archer
The staff was friendly and the Mule was fine. We ordered some onion rings and they were really pale and few in the basket. We will tray again another day
Brenda Frost
Great venue and nice selection of seafood entrees. Gorgeous views of Lake Union. Good happy hour noshes and a fabulous deck
Ali Buhlaiqa
Let me start with saying it's bit expensive restaurant, but it worth it. The Ivar's Salmon House have excellent location with amazing view, the service is professional, they took their time to explain to us the different types of salmon. The food is delicious especially the fresh salmon sampler with the different types of salmon you can try. It's busy restaurants so make sure to call to reserve table before you go.
Lilia Canales-Compton
Food is really good, very polite employees. I think they can improve the system to help customers, it took a long time to get our food because the strage way they take the orders
Mike Srok
We wanted to find a place to celebrate our 2 year wedding anniversary with as close to the same view that we had when we exchanged our vows (we were married on a ship on Lake Union) and decided after looking at the menu and website, on Ivar's Salmon House. A very wise decision! Upon arrival, we were seated immediately...and our table was perfect! Right on the window, with the view we hoped for. The food was wonderful, and the service was exemplary. Our waiter, Eric, was very knowledgeable and helpful, and volunteered to take our picture, leading us outside to the perfect spot for some pictures we will treasure always. This is now more than a restaurant for us; it is a fond memory and place that we will revisit time and again!
Gaffer Venar
The indoor restaurant is rather upscale. The Fishette, however, is exceptionally approachable, offers refills on fountain drinks, has a varied if almost entirely fried menu (there are healthy options available), is *very* handicapped-friendly, and a good social spot. Even in the rain. Good for groups, too.
Randolph Camp II
Absolutely the best food in service I've ever had definitely recommend the same and sampler, bartender was right on point made my drink perfect very seldom do I ever get it made right!!!
Glenn Yee
Great atmosphere.. our server MARCUS was fantastic very knowledgeable about the menu .. it was our 1st time there so he suggested a few menu items.. great suggestions.. food was fantastic!! Will definitely return
Donna Marion
The fish and chips were great, not greasy at all, and the coleslaw was pretty light. The clam chowder was pretty gelatinous but tasty. We ate out front at the seafood bar, and our food was ready very quickly.
Betsy De La Rosa
Awesome food, service and views. Highly recommend it!
Sue q
Lovely cozy place with so many history, and beautiful view over the lake. The food was so good, and survice is great. The place is a must with no doubt
Raphaela Güntensperger
I have been her the second time and really wanted to go again after I had a nice dinner here on my last Seattle visit. It was great again. They ask you what doneness you prefer for the salmon and make it really delicious. The wine list is great too und don't forget about the view across the Lake Union (you might want to reserve a window table in advance). I will want to go there again next time I am in Seattle.
Keith&Kelly Clark
Glad we dined at Ivar's Salmon House. Upscale casual is how I would describe the atmosphere. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Would do it again for sure.
Garry Hilton
The food was awesome. The Halibut encrusted in crab meat was the best I’ve eaten.
Average John
Seen this place on the food channel. Did not disappoint. Parking was below average but the food was great.
Olivia Patricia Lee
Ben the bartender was great! Let me try the beers (he would have let me try all 12 if I wanted) and gave me a recommendation to get the mussels in curry sauce - never had curry or mussels and they were a great choice! The hefeweisen was great too! Huge place and good, personable service here at the bar
Lisa Merritt
Great views right on the water. Indoor, outdoor, and bar area seating. Fun atmosphere for happy hour. I sat outside, took forever to get my food. Actually think the waiter forgot me. Food was not remarkable when it did arrive. Three stars only for atmosphere.
Brain Knot
Good food. Both the claim chowder and salmon chowder were delicious. The salmon sampler entree was also good, which they split it onto two plates for us to share. On the downside, the service was spotty, with the staff seemingly overwhelmed. They were slow to take our order, unable to keep water refilled and so on. Still recommended for the view and food.
Miranda Peterson
Great views and vibe, good food. Lots of seafood options. It’s on the more expensive side, but makes for a nice treat.
Catherine Conway
Great food. Great service. Wonderful view of the city. A great place to take guests.
Jess C
Great location, great service, food was just okay.
I ordered the lunch special, Alder Grilled Alaska Troll King Salmon, thinking that a restaurant with "salmon" in the name must know a thing or two about it! Turns out it was a little dry and not very flavorful. Surprisingly, the accompanying seasoned rice and broccolini was delicious, but not enough to entice me back.
Antonio Dorantes
Great happy hour but very slow service. Pleasant stuff but we waited way too long for everything
Beri Rubash
Yum! Excellent food. We were there in a large group for a rehearsal dinner. The service was outstanding. Our server came back several times and asked if there was anything else he could do. We had a couple of children and our group and he was sure to accommodate them. The entire experience was great.
Lauren Hardin
Love this Ivars and love the location. It has been recently remodeled and is lovely. A spectacular view of the lake and not from just one spot in the restaurant. They have considered the view from most seating areas. Good happy hour, good food, good service and a great place to take out of town guests for a show of the city.
Stickman Jr
Docked my boat to this place and have dinner there. Waiter was so nice and the foods are so good! We are definitely coming back again!
Timothy Ho
No tipping required! What a novel concept. The restaurant itself is perched right on the banks of Lake Union. A lot of tables are available right by the window offering views of downtown Seattle. Food was okay, a bit lukewarm and the house favourites seemed to have come suspiciously quick after the order. Overall, fair for the price and oh, did I mention the no tipping??
Wave Blakely
The cornbread is why this Ivar's is better than all the others. They have honey by request and it is the perfect pairing for salmon. The happy hour is one of the best in town. And the service is fantastic. They really take care of the food and customers here.
Eleanor Cozart
King salmon was perfectly cooked. Enjoyed the outdoor seating.
Andrew Selby
Delicious dishes in a wonderful venue, with great views. The service was very friendly and efficient. 4 stars as the meal was very expensive and for that price I expect just a bit more.
Guy Wilson
Perfect in every way. The waiter gave us proper attention and visited the table at all the right times. Not too much. Not too little. Just right. I've been here 4 times and it goes without saying the food is amazing. It is pricey, but I can afford $25+ meals once in awhile and enjoy myself. Overall great experience.
Jason Zhou
Food here is delicious. Has great options for holding meetings in their private rooms. They can accommodate a wide variety of group sizes, with a selection buffet and banquet style options to choose from. Easy to work with to organize events.
Lorenzo Da Pozzuoli
Quite simply, "The Best"! My out-of-town family and friends will meet with me here every time they visit. Sunday brunch is an event worth considering no matter what the weather. I call ahead for reservations.
Come by boat or seaplane for an added treat. Men, if you plan to visit "stag", and if you are married, bring a note from your wife, or you will not be permitted more than one cup of clam nectar (side effects, you know, yes?).
Jan Pareja
I took a few friends visiting from California and the lady working the counter was very friendly. She even gave us free samples of the chowders so we know which one fit our liking. You can't go wrong with any of the chowders and the fish and chips are crispy and tasty.
Julian CDL Driver
Omg one of the Best places to enjoy and Excellent meal and a good drink.
Excellent view and very friendly staff.
Thomas McGukin
Oh my goodness! The food was great and even had an alright view of the city during my meal. I got the fresh grilled salmon which was $26. A little pricey, but reasonable. I would consider this one of the most expensive items on the menu. If you are in the area I would give it a go!
Heidi Draffin
Good service, great atmosphere, good reliable seafood. You can't go wrong.
Nikolay
We always come to this place by boat. They have a nifty dock on the water for you to quickly hop out for a snack or dinner. You can either get a quick fish & chips or chowder at the window, or you can go inside for a seated meal. Great seafood! Highly recommended! Stay Clam!
Jess Chu
Halibut chips were delicious!
Jay “JP” P
The service here is top notch and I really enjoyed the food. I highly recommend their happy hour.
Todd Wilson
My favorite local place very good food and service. Great atmosphere.
Kristen Vanvalkenburg
Seafood was cooked to perfection. Watching the boat traffic was entertaining.
Rachel L
I had lived in Seattle for years before I discovered that this restaurant is actually 2 parts - an outside walk-up with counter service (great for fast meals!) and a beautiful, upscale indoor restaurant with a spacious deck. Outside has classic Ivars fare (chowder, fish and chips...) and inside offers delicious seafood dishes served up in a beautiful environment. This location's deck sits directly on the water (people can literally drive their boats up to it) and makes for a lovely summer evening dinner spot. Even if you can't make it to this one, keep your eyes peeled for other local Ivar's Salmon House locations - these are beautiful indoor restaurants NOT just walk-up counters.
Aron
The food is great. Really nice place, no cheap but I think is worth it. Our server was beyond expectations and he even find an off menu salmon burger for one of our guests (photo). Definitely try one of the two special soups from the house.
Evi Ho
Very good and fresh seafood, but not the best I've ever had. I had the shrimp and dungness crab cocktail appetizer and taste of the northwest entree. The staff and waiter was attentive and helpful. I would like to go again and try the other options they have since the food is decent. It is however missing the wow factor for me.
David Warren
One of the Seattle tourist spots that the locals go to regularly. Go to the bar after 3pm for happy hour. They not only have discounts on local beers and ciders, they have great deals on food too. Also, they pay their wait staff properly, so tipping is not expected.
Blaise Nelson
Had the fish and trips out on the deck. Great experience!
Chris Risner
Went in for late brunch on a Sunday. We had the crab bisque and the caesar salad with blackened salmon. They were both very good. The service was good but quite slow due to the waiter in the bar section handling all of the tables. If not for that, this would have been an all around excellent experience.
Lis Weller
Always incredible food, awesome views and great service, brought my boss from NC and he was blown away.
Don Mix
Hands down one of the best restaurants in town. Great food served in a cool neo native atmosphere. Wonderful service, and when you get the bill you won't be upset. The view of Lake Union adds to your pleasant experience.
Daniel Betancourt
Great place. Amazing views, great staff and amazing food. The fish and chips were on point!
Shannon Counsellor
Wonderful experience. Food was great but staff was amazing. Friendly, great service and on thier game.
Clifford Kentros
An absolutely amazing dining room of historic proportions serving good, but not great seafood at pretty eye-watering prices.
Niall Jones
Such a cool building. Amazing views from most seats, really interesting decor, can't complain about the service either.
Food was really nice and came quickly.
amy grant
food was okay and the service was alright too, everything took a while. the drinks were good and the staff was pretty nice all around
Ric Lewis
Great food, great service, amazing building, gorgeous views. Highly recommended.
Steven Felton
Went on a kayak trip for my buddy's birthday, stopped in to the Salmon House and pulled our kayaks onto the dock. The service was great and the salmon chowder I had was delicious. I would recommend the Salmon House to any of my friends.
Bob Campbell
Wonderful clams everything else is kind of average. Location in view or priceless
Sonya Weasner
Great view, friendly staff, delicious food! I highly recommend the blackened cod tacos - tons of flavor and so tasty!
Lucy S
Great and well done food! Was their for a meeting- Their meeting room is spacious and accomodated a lot of people.friendly reception from the staff
Austin Harris
Nice staff, good food and lovely location/atmosphere. Definitely a must try!!
Lu
Great food. Perfect blends and good amount of food. The view is also amazing
Christopher Roberts
Gorgeous view of the water and lovely restaurant. We enjoyed our meal and service.
Ben Dubin-Thaler
Big group had a buffet setup. Everything was fine except the salmon was terrible. Poor quality meat, or perhaps it had been cooked too long or boiled. I had a salmon steak in Portland 3 weeks ago which was one of the best I've ever had, so this just made me sad to even put the meat in my mouth. Maybe Ivar does a better job with individually choked steaks, but the pile of steaks in our buffet soiled their good name in my mind.
Darlene Athey-Hill
Excellent food in a wonderful Waterfront location. It's not inexpensive but it's tasty! My steak was cooked perfectly. My husband loved his salmon. Nice place to take visitors.
Matt Fuhr
Always a great experience. Love the fact that they have happy hour everyday after 3 or 6 in the bar area. It's by far my favorite seafood restaurant in Seattle.
Jake Kronika
Built as a replica Native American Longhouse (for which the builder received awards due to the authenticity of the replication), the Salmon House has a bit of charm and ambiance not found in the many similar restaurants around Puget Sound. The seafood is excellent, of course, and the surf and turf shows they have land-based fare down pat as well. Although the location is directly below the Ship Canal Bridge for the Interstate 5 Highway, the noise is entirely blocked when indoors. Outdoor seating is also available, and situated on a floating platform providing beautiful views of Lake Union, the Seattle skyline, and all the boat and air traffic in the area. A real treat!
Michael Sinitsa
Great views for the price, and you are mainly paying for the location. The salmon was good but not mind blowing, for $26.00+ I suggest looking around.
Buzzfeed made a video on their salmon dish, well, we went in search of it and were disappointed to find that they changed the seasoning and dressing for the dish, so if you, like us, was looking to satisfy that craving, I suggest you specify exact dressing you would like to see on your salmon.
Carolyn Rathe
The wait staff was excellent. I feel the food quality has gone down. I had clams. They were so tiny I could hardly stab them with my fork. Very chewy!
Jake Meador
Really great restaurant, delicious food and awesome wait staff! We sat on the barge and it was chilly (October) but still a great evening. The happy hour runs from 3pm to Close and definitely made the fifth star for this review. Thank you! We will return!
Brent Sindelar
A great place to start or end your evening. Great setting and scenery. Food is good. like any dining experience in Seattle these days, just don't even look at the bill, just pay it and pretend that part never happened...Tip is included here now.
Tyler Akidau
Love this place. Always something good on the fresh fish side of things. Great views. Watch out for the little cornbread muffins; they're like 95% sugar. Gack.
Chriselda Evaro
Amazing food and View. Tucked away from touristy area so the prices are much softer and the food is classic and delicious. I can't stress enough how great this place is. If the weather is nice try to sit out on the back deck. The photos are the view from our table.
Jeff Perkins
We were at the take-out bar, ordered and went down to the picnic area by the water. Small pieces of fish but very well done. Great view.
Jessica Cramm
Traveling from out of town and we went to this wonderful restaurant by recommendation of our local family members.
The setting was picturesque Seattle. Right along Lake Union with great views from everywhere in the dining room. There is a nice place to walk close to water and was great to explore as we were early for our reservation.
The food was amazing. Everything that we ordered came out promptly and was exactly as ordered. Very accommodating to our special request although we did call ahead and prearranged it. We did not explore the drink menu as it was a family dinner but it looked to be adequate and on par with the experience. There were wine pairing recommendations in the menu.
The service was great. We had a very large party and I was left wanting for nothing.
Pricing was what I expected for the experience. If budget is a consideration this might be a deterring factor but not enough for us.
Would highly recommend this restaurant for those looking to enjoy the bounties of what the Pacific Northwest has to offer.

Wonderful service and excellent seafood! I'm a seafood foodie with allergies. I can always count on Ivar's to get it right and serve amazing food! Thanks again!
Richard Volin
Good food but portions are getting smaller. Good service with a great view. $$$$$

Unique place .if you are visiting Seattle you must visit ….
Y Park
Food was prepared well and the service was outstanding. We were here for late lunch on Sunday without reservation and we had a good time. Make your reservation ahead of time for lake-side seating. For any special days, I
would recommend this restaurant compare to other lake-side restaurant up on Edmond or Everett.
The location of this restaurant is great, but it could be tricky to find if you are not familiar with this area.

Best seafood on the waterfront, real Alaska salmon as advertised ,not farmed and labeled as wild like all the other fake restaurants in the area , polite and respectful wait staff, I WILL RETURN ,
Kevin
It was my son's wedding night and it was superb. We ate outside by the water and it was beautiful and food/service was the absolute best.
JP
Seattle classic with great food and views
Eileen Price
The building and view are half the experience, really beautiful! The food is pretty good, reasonable service, pretty spendy, but a good place to go for the ambiance.
Aga K
Been here many times. This time for brunch which is great - awesome selection of seafood and other foods. The fact that you don't have to tip is great as well. Highly.recommend for happy hour as well.
Lesley McDaniel
Large waterfront outside dining area, with an awesome view, the inside is beautiful as well. This is a large restaurant with a complete menu ranging from seafood and steaks, wonderful appetizers. This was suggested to me by a coworker who came from Seattle. It was excellent food, friendly, attentive wait staff. Worth the trip.
Ashley Sheperdigian
Absolutely wonderful. Delicious halibut, crab and salmon. Reasonably priced... better than downtown seafood locations with lots of parking. Happy hour drink pricing on weekdays 3-close an added bonus!
Zackary Rosner
For the price, there must be way better, seasonal food worth spending big bucks on in Seattle. *I took into account the no-tip policy into my price assessment, just to be clear *. The food was good, but NOT great or blow-you-away amazing! I ordered the special, which was halibut. It's early July, and somehow they had a chanterelle garnish on top - chanterelles don't arrive in the US until at least mid-August, and in WA/OR, September. So that was wierd. Blackberries too. The view is obviously great, and the interior is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen - Pacific NW Native American art, canoes hanging from the rafters, and longhouse construction. So that was nice. Plus the staff didn't seem all too engaged, and the service was not what you would expect from a shwanky restaurant. Overall though, the food just isn't that great.

This doesn't rank among my favorite local restaurants. I went with a large group as part of an event. The food is fine, but nothing special for the price. Service was slow and scattered, but that might just have been because there were 14 of us.
JB West
The fresh halibut was excellent. Love this old place, I hope it never changes.
Elle Thompson
The Salmon Caesar Salad and Salmon Chowder meal I had was wonderful. Salmon was cooked perfectly over alder wood and the Salmon Chowder--my first try of this vs Clam Chowder--was, in my opinion much tastier. Staff was efficient, friendly, and attentive. Kudos!
Tom Hornik
Very good seafood. Great views of Lake Union. Excellent service. Great prices.
Chris Uyyek
The view and atmosphere is fantastic, and the wait staff are attentive and friendly. Parking is good, and accessibility is good for people who are limited with their mobility.
Philip Cole
The food is good, but the prices are too high for what you get and the ambiance.
Shannon Treen
Amazing place to eat and spend time on the waterfront and I am grateful to WORK FOR AND WITH SUCH AN AMAZING TEAM
Tristan Graham
Great selection of fresh seafood and situated right on the water front of lake union. We sat out and enjoyed the sunset before heading up to gas works park for the 4th fireworks. If you need something to warm you up I recommend the blueberry tea !
Michael Strickland
The fish in my fish and chips was dense and flavorless.
marilyn shannon
Awesome food and service and atmosphere.beautiful lake and weather as well
Scott Jackson
This is my new favorite restaurant. Salmon chowder soup was the best thing on the menu. Everything I had was cooked to perfection. Highly recommended! Side note: tipping is not expected as it is included in the cost.
Debi Grace
The food was tasty. Our server was perfect, she was friendly, efficient and there exactly enough. The two very best things were the views of the city and lake Union and the quiet. Even when it got busy, it wasn't noisy we could hear everyone.
Ron Weisman
Great atmosphere. Definitely more upscale than other Ivar's restaurants I have eaten at. The food was good, excellent fish. Great service, very knowledgeable server. Unhurried dining experience. Quiet enough that we could talk and hear each other well.
Michael Bzdawka
Excellent service. Very good food. Outside dining is very noisy due to freeway traffic on bridge
Craig Simpson
Excellent food, great environment and friendly guest service. A must for guests from out of town.
Bradley Layfield
Super cool dining room. Nice place to take visiting family that are not too into the food scene.
Alexzandar McCourt
Salmon chowder was flavorful. Seafood cocktail was small but good. Salmon sampler with the lemon fennel sauce was great. We usually avoid fennel since it tastes like liquorice but we couldn't even tell it was there.
carol olsby
Love it now is my favorite place to go our waitress was do great, will ask for her again. Thank you.
KyLynn Hull
Always a great stop to take out-of-town guests. Perfect city and Lake Union views. Mesmerized by all the boats slowly cruising by. Terrific local seafood happy hour and good drinks!
Marysol R
Great view and delicious food! Next time I’ll try to get a seat in the patio
Karie Simmons
Great location every seat has a view of the water. Great food & service!
Mark Thaggard
Fantastic food! We ate at the North Lake Union University of Washington area and it was excellent!
Ryan Brown
An amazing place to stop by the fish bar and eat it down on their waterfront dining. The interior of the restaurant is also quite impressive if you want a different type of experience.
Cassie
Service was not great. Chowder was really good.
brookdog fishing company
Service was excellent. Food was incredible - we had the cedar plank salmon and more than a few appetizers. Decorating is engaging. What else do you need to hear. If you’re looking for a unique dining experience with great food and service in a cool location - look no further
Jennifer Grant
Happy hour all night is a great view and a good deal but my stomach always feels unsettled after eating here. I want to like it so much but I am usually disappointed
elizabeth moore
Wonderful seafood Great service. The view and boats on lake union. If you are local or visiting put this one on your list.
Keegan Falk
The decor and views are excellent. Over the years I think the food quality has dropped and a little overpriced for what you get.
Aaron Torres
This is my go-to when we have visitors in town. They gave us some awesome coupons over New Years and their food is generally excellent. They also have a variety of gluten-free options. The price may seem a bit expensive, but keep in mind they moved to a no-tip policy recently.
Sheila Jensen
Very old school Seattle, warm decor, good service, and delicious food, especially (of course) the salmon, which was perfectly cooked. Also have a walk-up To Go ordering place outside with the standard Ivar's menu, which is good for grabbing a quick bite
D G
Delicious, great views and atmosphere. Just come in knowing you'll spend over thirty dollars per plate and you won't be disappointed.
William Hastings
Excellent food and service is great. We try to go there every time we’re in Seattle.
Kenneth Glaesemann
Great food.. ..couldve ordered one of everything exceptional service too...😀😀 …
Ben Levine
Seated us quickly when busy, was great bisque, and managed good food in a packed house. I cleaned my plate. Nice service
Mitchell Snyder
This is my favorite restaurant in Seattle and I've been living here for 4+ years. I've taken dates here and have had my birthday dinner here on several occasions. The food is amazing and the service has always been excellent. They have superb waiters and the menu is always on point.
Barry Levenberg
Corner table good service. Place was empty inside but started to fill up outside when we left. Halibut and chips was really good.
Charles H
Love their fish and chips and sitting in their bar area for happy hour makes the meals very affordable.
JB Soleda
Very good seafood, fast service and friendly.
Their specialty are smoked salmon dishes.
The atmosphere is relaxed, but the view into the ocean is beautiful!
Be prepared to pay for all these item $$$.
Patrick Manning
Excellent food, excellent atmosphere, excellent service, with excellent views. Agway love going here.
Dr. Musubi
Really good food from the fish bar next to the Salmon House. There is also a really scenic outdoor dining area behind the restaurant that everyone can access (without going through the restaurant). A bit of a wait for food but that's to be expected at a popular place like this.
Alex Sargeant
The best place on Lake Union for Salmon & chips. And halibut.
Luis Congdon
A bit pricey but it's got a beautiful view and if you like sea food it's a great place to go.
carol rhoades
The decor and the view are absolutely the Best! The customer service was exemplary. They have a decent wine and beer selection. The halibut was a little disappointing but everything else makes this restaurant totally worth it. I'll definitely return.
Megan Hall
This is the absolute superior Ivar's location. Fish seems so much more fresh than anywhere else, great location with nice (but little) seating. Definitely worth the visit!
AJ Santiago
Good food, great service and nice view of the water.
Philip Kwan Ho Kwong
One of the location with the best view, near by the water front and can see the space needle from afar. It has a large parking lot across the street and is free.
Food is great as usual and they have patio seating over the summer time. I will definitely come back for more.
Many mistaken this for the fish bar in the front but the restaurant is located at the back!
John Clark
The food was awesome and the service was second to none! One of my favorite restaurants and definitely my favorite in Seattle.
Kathryn McDonald
God I love this place! Get the happy hour fish and chips. Cheap and yummy.
Anthony Monaco
Great place, great location, great food. Service is good but slow when busy.
Frank Hoyer
Nice ambiance and friendly people. Love the seafood meals.
Mike L
Been here several times but the most recent was the worst. The wait was long, the soda was flat, the food wasn't great, and neither was the service. Ended up going again today and we had better results using the take out window vs. being served. Seating is not nearly as good however.
Gary Weir
The food isn't bad but also isn't as good as the prices would suggest. Seems like you're really paying for the view.
chris lepkowski
This place was one of the best tasting most romantic places I've been too in my life hands down, loved it!
Gee
Good views, delicious seafood, lots of fresh catches, great service, good serving sizes and fast! Nice patio on side! Can accommodate large groups! Drinks were okay.
Abhishek Chavan
Great food and ambience. The staff is full of character and made it an enjoyable evening. He never wrote down a single order for any of the 7 of us, but got everything spot on even with modifications. He was proactively paying attention to details and we never had to wait for him to show up. He was back at just the right time and proactively checked on the needs of everyone at the table... Absolute superstar!
John Lyons
Great spot to stop while out boating the Seattle waterways. Friendly prompt service & amazing views! Fish & chips were amazing of course and my son loved the Alaska true cod BLT!👍🏻👍🏻 …
Sara Rosas
In love with this food. I went with my friend in her boat and just stopped there to buy some food.
Shelby Georgopoulos
Was really nice atmosphere, the food was good too. The view was amazing.
David G
Been wanting to try this location since I noticed it one day while driving across the bridge above. Ivar's seafood restaurants are all awesome but this location is uniquely designed like some sort of Native American lodge or something and has wonderful views of Lake Union and the Space Needle. Food was amazing as usual for Ivar's. Best to make reservations as it seems to get quite busy.
Ben Kenawell
Delicious food. Great wait staff. Beautiful views of Lake Union.
Susan Smolders
My dad and I really enjoyed our meal here. We had a fantastic seat looking right out onto the water, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious! I'd definitely recommend Ivar's Salmon House.
Mitchell St Clair
Great atmosphere and view of Lake Union. Separate seating for the bar area, but high quality service in either. Great PNW woodwork and most importantly, amazing food.
Louis
Our food was fine, and the service, while slow, was adequate. The only reason for 4 stars was the amazing location on the water, under the ship canal bridge. It was beautiful
griselda suarez
Great view, great food. Server gave attitude to all of our questions
Kieron Gillmore
Best cedar plank Salmon ever!! NW platter was good, but not great.
Allen Greenky
Last night before temporary closing, salmon house known for having curated salmon and other seafood was down to only coho and fish n chips, a sad farewell..hopefully they will be back in the spring when we can revive good memories with good friends.
Jay Green
Great food and location....right on the water near the docked boats.
Ed Mitchell
Great local place in a great location. Food was excellent- suggest sharing
ß Love
More than a tourist stop… great for family celebrations 🎉 …
Yaier Ron-Rubinstein (BaBa)
As expected food.
Service is okay.
Clean place.
Clean washroom.
Great location!
Mariah “MoMo” Starke
One of the best places I've eaten in a very long time. My waiter was amazing and tentative. I'll be back every time I'm in state again!!! Best clam chowder I had!! I'd recommend this place for everyone
Matt Karaca
Very historic place, I strongly recommended this place. Prices are really high, however 8 really like tastes and atmosphere!
Therese M. Schmitt
Great view, excellent service, best of all delicious food!
Cynthia McNabb
I dont eat seafood but the rest of the family does. I had their burger, not expecting it to be good. I was surprised as it was one of the best I've had, a lot of flavor, tender and a good size. I'll go back!
Jonathan Cannon
Good food, reasonable price, good service. Interesting view of Seattle.
Matthew Winningham
THE Best! Food was awesome. Service was amazing. A tremendous overall experience. A lot of what I remember from my childhood and the last time I may have been there nearly 30 years ago. Even the kids mask faces were what my sister and I remembered them being. We were celebrating my uncle's 75th and my wife's 4xth and it was fantastic!
