Reviews of Frank's Oyster House & Champagne Parlor
Oremo
First of all, they may have the best fried chicken in Seattle. It's boneless, and portion size isn't huge but it is juicy with crispy skin. For oysters you have your choice of raw, baked or fried. Can't go wrong either way there. Another shock is that the burger is really good. At an oyster house, who knew. I only reason I'm not going 5 stars is that it is a little on the pricey side given the minimum decor. So I would say its more like 4.5 stars.

The oysters and drink were tasty but the other menu items were only ok. The rockfish crudo was much too thickly cut and the fish quality was not good (soggy and flavorless). I would recommend coming for only the oysters and champagne.
Yandong Li
Really good oyster, had ordered the baked oyster bingo, very tasty. The two main dishes were okay, not quite as impressive, so was the cocktail.

This is our second time to Frank’s and it is BEYOND amazing. The first time I had the seasonal ravioli. Tonight I’m enjoying the gnocchi. Both times my hubs has ordered the steak and it’s been cooked perfectly. We always start with a dozen oysters and dirty martinis, and everything is always INCREDIBLE! Do yourself a favor and book your next date here. The ambiance and fare is exquisite and the service is wonderful. We can’t wait to come back and I haven’t even finished my gnocchi yet.

this is just a review of the cheeseburger, to go. an excellent meat experience, asked medium rare, probably got on the way to rare but i’m fine with that. substantive patty. good meat taste, though not much added spice (also fine). did not like the pickled onions and other toppings. i would prefer fresh onion, and simpler, which means i won’t likely re-purchase. but that might just be me..

Food was delicious! steak, oysters, cheddar biscuits, and the best fries I've ever had. Service wasn't great but overall glad we went there. Atmosphere was great.
Caleb
Really good bacon, donuts, waffle, chicken &waffle. Not a fan of the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits are dense. The gravy is a dark gravy. Maybe some people will like that?
Excellent service. Attentive and friendly.
Came here for brunch.

A little off the beaten path is this neighborhood gem with quality cocktails, a notable wine list, and some tasty dishes. While the oysters are always a good choice, we also enjoyed the bib lettuce salad, pork belly, and the fried chicken. 👌 …

I have been eyeing this restaurant since I moved into the neighborhood a little over a year ago, and finally had the chance to eat here for my birthday. Everything was as good or better than I anticipated. We had the deviled eggs, mini lobster rolls, fried chicken and waffles, macaroni and cheese, and banana split. The deviled aggs were good, the lobster rolls would have been easier to eat if the lobster could be more stuffed inside the roll but were so tasty I wouldn't mind liking what dropped out of the roll off the plate, the fried chicken is heaven, the waffles were perfectly done and the fois gras butter and bourbon maple syrup with amazing, the macaroni and cheese was delicious, and the banana split was better than I could have ever imagined with the amarena cherry whip, bruleed bananas, and chocolate and caramel.... service was prompt, friendly, and they did not rush us through our meal or out the door when we finish eating. It was a delightful experience, and I hope to be back soon!

Cute restaurant with outdoor seating - great 🦪 oysters and the ravioli was good too!
Great drink selection as well. Super helpful staff
Ham burglar
Pretty yum food for brunch . Our server was just incredible and everything came out quickly. They're not redesigning food and offer pretty standard fare..but be sure to try the Oyster Poboy !
Anon Ymous
Staff was cool and the food was fairly tasty ! We tend ti look for menus that offer somwthing different ir some type of twist on classics and this place offers one or two options like this! The drinks were very good and we loved the oysters
Matt Casey
Wow hell yes. Been wanting to dine here but it's been a pandemic preventing me. So glad to finally get here it was delicious and the people here are terrific. Will be back!
Jason Brown
Really nice. 4**** experience. Great Oysters and drinks. We had a great time, again. Thanks
Yoshio Hasegawa
I came to Frank's on a Saturday morning during brunch and had a great meal! I enjoyed the Frank's Madame, an open faced sandwich with a delicious sweet and savory combination of flavors! In addition to a side of salad, with a nice light balsamic dressing.
Don't forget to indulge in their bottomless mimosas on the weekends!
Alison
We've been meaning to go to Frank's for some time so with a trip to U Village in our weekend plans, we committed. The place is cute, not fancy but rather on the rustic side, which is a nice change from some of the Seattle slickness that abounds in this town. The food was really good, Bloody Mary was delicious, and you can't beat bottomless Mimosas. And they serve real maple syrup!!
Sue Kim
Great cocktails and oysters. We also had fried chicken. So good. We've come here several times and each time the atmosphere is relaxed, charming, and friendly. Get local gem.
Jenny Lai
Wonderful atmosphere and cozy interior. Dinner service was well rounded and food was decent. My group of 7 ordered just about every oyster dish available on the menu, crab cakes, garden salad, pasta, and salmon.
The raw oysters on ice and fried oysters are great. However, the experience did not leave me craving for more nor do I feel inclined to return. This is NOT a reflection of the food/service but more of "I'd get more impressive food and value somewhere else".
Should the opportunity to return arise, I will give them another try and update this review.
nicholas jones
Had an amazing new years eve here. Set menu was fantastic.
Cecilia Nguyen
Went for dinner. The oysters were fresh and tasted great. Mixed drinks were tasty. Also ordered the clams with pork belly. Clams were good, but the pork belly was very tough and chewy.

We live in the neighborhood and used to love Frank's but the past couple of times we've gone they've really missed the mark. Last time, the hostess argued with us about our reservation, and this time we had several issues with both the food and the service.
We went for a birthday dinner last night and the service started out great but seemed to drop off throughout the night. The food and drinks both took extremely long to come out and when the food finally came our orders were wrong. I noticed the server didn't write anything down and had to come back to ask me again what kind of wine I had ordered so I think that was part of it. My boyfriend ordered the cheeseburger medium-well, but it came out very rare. I ordered the steak and asked to substitute the fries for a salad which the server said would be no problem, but when the food came out it was steak and fries. I sent that back and reminded them I had ordered it with a salad, and when it came out again they brought it with the wedge salad instead of the cara-cara salad I had ordered. I just ate it at that point so as not to keep the rest of my group waiting but that wedge salad they gave me was tiny (smaller than the size of my fist) and the steak was not good. For a $35 plate I would expect a lot more than a small "just ok" steak and a tiny salad. The wedge salad was just lettuce with 2 chunks of bacon and 2 radish slices...I'm not sure what the hype is all about on that salad but the green goddess dressing was good. I don't like bacon or radishes (why I didn't order this salad in the first place) so I ended up just eating the lettuce with dressing.
Our drink glasses and water glasses were left empty for a good while during our dinner and when we ordered some post-dinner coffees we weren't asked if we wanted to see a dessert menu which I thought was kind of odd. We probably would have ordered some since it was a birthday dinner.
Overall, I still like Frank's for the vibe and ambiance, but the food and service has seriously declined, especially for the price.

I hadn't been to Frank's in at least a couple of years. The food is always good but, this last Friday, it was really memorable. The baguette with ash butter and olives was delicious-- salty but so flavorful. The rockfish crudo was a stand- out, as was the Cracker Jack ice cream sundae. Wonderful meal! The only thing that I didn't love is that the outdoor seating is packed so closely together that you were literally bumping up against your neighbor. Even in the outdoors, I didn't love being unmasked in that tight of a space, not to mention that it was just not super- comfortable. Indoor seating looked lovely, though-- and there were several booths open-- so I'm not sure we were told there was only outdoor seating available.
Dawen Shen
The oysters and pasta were fantastic here. However, the service leaves a bit to be desired. We informed the server when seating and ordering about a peanut allergy in the party which was forgotten.
Tracy Cambron
Nice presentation with the oysters, enjoyed the fried chicken. We also had 2 appetizers, but not super memorable. It was quite expensive for the portion size. Roasting hot inside the dining room.
Oliver Robin FitzGerald
Excellent service, great food. The pork belly was KILLER. Definitely recommend the 'homey' dishes (chicken & waffles, Mac n cheese etc)
Nice overall atmosphere, high end but friendly. The wood and warm ambient lighting is wonderful. Unique light fixtures make it simple but elegant and interesting.
William Callaway
We usually go for cocktails and oysters but they also have a great full menu. Frank's is great dining, everytime. A go to, local favorite.
Tim N
We went here after a bad experience and walk-out at a different oyster restaurant and were pleasantly surprised by Frank's. Oysters were excellent, the salad wedge was delicious and unique, the main pasta dish was very tasty, and the drinks were mixed exactly how they should have been. In addition, the three servers we were helped by we're all very cheerful and pleasant - a necessity for a fine dining experience. I don't live in Seattle, but I'll be back again during my next visit.
Robin Turner
This place was intensely busy. While I had a hard time getting service the food was pretty exceptional. I ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken was boneless and served with thick waffles. They were good. I may try coming back at a less popular hour.
Marissa Bruno
Oo! Frank's is one of my favorite Seattle restaurants. It's a wee bit pricey but well worth it. I have been here for both brunch and happy hour. Happy hour is good but they kinda skimp on the food. Brunch though is DELICIOUS. The chicken and waffles is to die for.
Regan Brossard
Rather disappointing menu. Went for happy hour but server advised us not to pick any items on that part of the menu because "they are just little and won't fill you up". Expected to see more oyster options but pretty limited selection. Fried oysters were recommended against because they wouldn't fill you up either. Oysters on the half shell were a happy hour special and were good. Also very loud group next to us made it difficult to have a conversation. Not that the restaurant was at fault for loud customers. We also were swatting flying knats from our food which is strange for February. The house white wine was good as was the Bodi IPA from Georgetown brewery.
Brandon Klassen
Great food and terrific service. The ambiance is subdued modern. You could say it's 'hip'. Interesting twists on traditional bitters-based drinks. Oyster selection is excellent as is the short but appropriate wine list. Only two taps but both to my liking (Ft. George and Breakside). We will be back.
Wesley Schauble
After seeing this place listed as the best place to buy fried chicken in Seattle according to Eater, I had to check it out. The fried chicken was bursting with flavor and what was unique about it was they had butchered it off the bone without losing out on any of the flavor. The mashed potatoes and biscuits were also great. It wasn't the best fried chicken I've had in the city but it was some of the best. I'll be back to order something more healthy in the future.
Lin Po
Amazing! This place does everything right! Food exceeded all expectations, staff were EXTREMELY friendly and helpful, ambiance was relaxing and romantic, but the vibe was also very casual and laid back. We had the Ahi Tuna Crudo, Salmon Chef's Special, Franks Mac and Cheese, the Banana Split, and the Cracker Jack Ice Cream. I could tell you what I loved about each of these, but I would have to write a novel. All of them were incredible! This is one of the pricier places to eat in U District, but worth every penny!
Dana Hurley
Frank’s is a neighborhood gem and worth a commute to as well. Their burger is one of the best in Seattle. They have so many wonderful starters and different bites to try. Their bar is a great meeting place when we aren’t in quarantine. Wishing the team safety and health.
Mackenzie Krell
Always excellent! Literally every single thing on the brunch menu is beautifully prepared and deliciously satisfying. The servers are friendly (if slow sometimes, but whatever, talk with your table) and bottomless mimosas are a treat! The hollandaise is tangy and not too thick.
Jay
I have literally no complaints. We got Frank's Mac & Cheese, their Salmon Special, and the Ahi Tuna Crudo. Not only were these dishes prepared beyond perfection, but the service that accompanied the meals set a golden standard. The restaurant is cozy, and the ambiance is apropos. Everything was WELL worth the price, and to top off our courses, we enjoyed the Banana Split. Even this household dish was taken to the next level by Frank's, and summed up the night perfectly. I highly recommend this restaurant and cannot wait to go back!
Bob
Come for the happy hour cocktails and the appetizers NOT the dinners. They are expensive and executed poorly. My medium rare flat iron steak was cooked well done, tough and small. The roasted vegetables were burnt and bitter. Everything we had for dinner for a group of 6 was off.
Maia Hammy
Delicious small plate and dinner delectables, many seafood-y. But oysters are oysters: The short oyster menu is, essentially, fresh, pan-fried, or baked. If you go the fresh route, you get choices in the way of price ($3 or $3.50, and yep that's each!) and type of oyster (they had maybe 6-8 options when we were last there). All the food was amazing. My Americano was to die for -- like a doppio, really. But the portions are tiny so we sadly left a little hungry. The cocktails are lovely, but the beer offerings quite sparse (might need to check out the brewery across the street). Also, the decore only looks comfy and the male waitstaff tend to defer decisions to the man at the table, ugh. Overall, good experience, not great, but we'll always come back for the oysters.
Jamie Klouse
A bit expensive, but a wonderful experience with well made food. The staff are very kind and the ambience is warm.
Josh Phebus
This place was great. I just took off one star because you kept the cocktail sauce hostage and didn’t ask if I needed anything else.
Rob Miller
Delicious, every time. It really is a fantastic secret that has been kept here - located in an unassuming neighborhood in North Seattle, this has consistently been one of my favorite places to go for brunch or dinner. Fantastic burger, too!
Kyungwan Han
Very nice oyster house with friendly staffs and super quality food.. Every dollar I spent was so worthy it. Has great time with friends in such elegant setting
T
Delicious chicken on dinner menu. Amazing oyster po' boys on happy hour menu. Bartender initially comes off a bit...brusque, but is actually really very hard working and competent. Great place for dinner or cocktail/appetizers.
kelli Anderson
I love going here, the food is super yummy and the staff are always friendly. With that said, I ordered from here today on Postmates, and well... It's just as great delivered!! I highly recommend this restaurant for brunch, whether dining in or takeout, they know what they are doing!
Alyssa Kelly
Delicious fried chicken! Strong mixed drinks. Pretty expensive prices overall. Street parking only. Not a huge place so there may be waits to be seated. Was difficult to manage sitting together with a group of ~8.
Stephen Peterson (StephenMeansMe)
Went there for brunch. The chicken and waffle is indeed tasty, though (as to be expected from an upscale sort of place) the menu is on the pricy side - for me, at least. Definitely worth checking out, but maybe only on special occasions if you're on a budget.
Daniel C
I went there with two friends today for Sunday brunch. We were told the chicken and waffles were to be had. Wow! One of the most satisfying brunches I've ever had. Have told others about the place and will definitely go back!
Cory Sims
The chicken and waffles were amazing. Not a huge portion, but not a small one either. I'd say perfectly right in the middle. That + terrific service everytime I have been in. Will be a frequent brunch visitor from here on.
Sue Ellen
The food was amazing. I had the fried chicken and a wedge salad. The service was great. A wonderful place to visit with family and friends. No matter what you order you will not be disappointed.
Ryan Jones
I like oysters, I like here the best. Small spot so call a head. Great hh spot before dinner!
Tim Mcrae
Just had a most enjoyable Sunday breakfast! Small but exceptional menu. Great chefs and friendly and accomodating staff. Well done.
Matt Hickman
Mediocre at best. Unimpressed by the service and the portions. Several things forgotten and lack of attentiveness to our table. Not what was expected for an upscale restaurant on a low-volume night. It was decent, but not great. Will not be be returning.
Matthew Spies
The oysters and chicken and waffles are not to be missed. They also have a fantastic bar with lots of specialty cocktails. Great neighborhood gem.
Emily Johnson
Great food, great service. Selection was smaller, but still diverse enough to try different things. Definitely would come back! Would not recommend for kids, though.
Daniel Kim (Danny)
Ok food but not ok prices. Oysters were the best part of the meal. The drinks were way overpriced for what you get. Would much rather spend that kind of money at Walrus and the Carpenter.
Sydney Dratel
Very uneven service and food, and the oysters did not taste fresh. Great burger, though.
Sara Lee
I went here with my husband to have brunch. The food tasted ok. However, I liked that they have not typical brunch menus. But the portion was very small for the price.
Danita Day
Excellent service & food & cocktails
William Hershman
Interesting choice of brunch dishes, nice atmosphere, and very reasonably priced. It didn't seem too busy, but I'd definitely recommend checking it out!
Sara Martinez
The Happy Hour small plates were fabulous. Service was great. Planning to go back to have the three course dinner special.
Sam Lee
The oysters were fresh and delicious. But the real kicker was the Mac & cheese. Definitely consider that one when deciding what to order
Jesse Roberts
Super cozy place with great service and an awesome menu. Oysters+chicken and waffles in the same venue is hard to beat.
Zachary Macmillen
The bar room is great for cocktails and happy hour if you only have 2-3 people. Otherwise you are better off in the main restaurant
Gary Burns
I kinda liked the 4 oysters on a bed of some kind of foliage. Nothing much with it. Asked for tarter sauce was brought one little serving although there was 2 of us. Too expensive for what we got.
Karin C.
Friendly staff, seasonal and standards on the menu, fresh food and creative drinks from a full bar. Great happy hour!
Pete Heine
Casual and delicious. Great variety of oysters and all were amazing. Nice to be able to sit outside here.

The food tasted good but didn't arrive in a timely way and the food was cold upon arrival. The server didn't even apologize for the cold cheeseburgers and fries. They warmed the fries after we asked for it but it didn't taste as good.
