What a great spot. We got a couple of singles and a double deluxe. Made to order and loaded with fresh toppings. I added some grilled onions and it was worth it. Get a side of fries - they hit the spot.

Amazing burger joint! Great shakes! I had the fish n chips which was incredible. The little Asian lady running the counter is very nice and obviously cares about her customers experience at her restaurant. I recommend this place to anybody that likes some good old American grease box food!

This is the BEST burger mom and pop shop in Seattle. They change their oil and are mindful of fat/salt/protein proportions for the crispiest fries, perfectly balanced burgers and condiments. I highly recommend their fried fish sandwich and sweet potato fries. Their fries in general are spot on and I order them often depending on my mood--crisp and the perfect cut. They balance flavors to an addictive, loving level. The owners/operators are so accommodating and attentive--please treat them with the respect and love they deserve. This is LAST MEAL level. That said, if you're vegan (which I have been), I recommend their fries and onion rings, but they are NOT a salad joint (please...they can't please or cater to every dining option). You're better off in South Seattle (Columbia City/Beacon Hill) for vegan options. I cook vegan often and with many veggies, that's my forte cause I know my needs. Also, I find their portions VERY satisfying and more than enough... not a light eater. If you're expecting more...please let them know your expectations and ask for their suggestions! I wouldn't be surprised if they accommodated, you just have to state your needs. IE I ate a burger 6 inches across and 1.5 servings of fries--that's my bandwidth and was served default.

Stopped in before a show at T-Mobile Park and this burger stand is awesome. Great service friendly and easy going. Had their Lou's Special double burger made to order, fries, and small drink. They excelled burger was hot juicy and fries were perfect crispy and hotness. I recommend that if you need a bite before a concert, or ballgame you stop in and give them a try!

A wonderful family owned old-school flattop burger joint. Truly a Seattle institution. Hadn't been back there in two years, pre-COVID and they did not disappoint. The triple Deluxe with bacon was excellent. My doctor told me yesterday that my cholesterol was perfect... so I took a trip to By's to rectify the situation. Now I'm on the couch a happy man! :-)

Man tell you what, I've been coming to this spot since I was 16 years old. Every time I've came, I've never been disappointed. Triple deluxe buger with some steak fires on the side. Chicken teriyaki sandwich with some delicious curly fries.

The food is not bad and the service is pretty good and amazingly fast I would have no bad things to say about it except that the prices need to come down it just simply does not justify the cost but it's still a pretty good place to eat with a nice variety of different things and pretty decent quality food

Stopped by after shopping at Costco's. The burger with cheese and bacon was very tasty, with the right amount of lettuce, tomato, pickle and condiments. The fried mushrooms weren't as good as Kidd Valley's. These definitely seemed like they were cooked from frozen. Still not bad. A little pricey for a burger and mushrooms ($14), but was a pleasant experience with friendly, fast service.

By's has delicious fish and chips! The fries were generously cut, not soggy. The fish was perfect in a panko-type breading. The owner is friendly and chatty if things are slow. The restaurant is in a part of town that may seem a bit sketchy, but By's is worth the stop!

I got the grilled chicken sandwich and the fish sandwich both were really good. I had to come back the next day for the chicken sandwich and the lady smiled and said, "that chicken is really good huh, we use organic chicken." I think I will be coming here for my chicken and fish sandwich fix from now on, though they are a bit pricey. Excellent orange creamsicle and strawberry shakes and tartar sauce is also good.

Staff was friendly and service was prompt. Burger was dry and tasteless. Not enough bacon or cheese on the bacon cheeseburger. I'd be fine with this, but it was $15 for a burger fries and a drink. Too expensive for too little. They have non burger things I didn't try, maybe they're better.

What a hidden gem! I believe it was the owner who we interacted with, and she was super friendly and helpful. We ordered a garden burger and impossible burger with curly fries and an almond roca milkshake. Everything was delicious and we got our food quickly.

Been coming here regularly for over 20 years, always great burgers, and service. When I visited more often, I would get their great fish and chips too. Now seldom in area, but one of these days will try fish again! Daughter loves their shakes, if she's not with me I'll get one to go, for her. Actually first came here in about 1960, and the old Lake City location too, back when they were a 19 cent burger location! My usual these days is the Lou's Special, deluxe bacon burger, fries and drink combo, named after Lou Dapas, local burger restaurantuer (Burien, White Center, Wedgewood) If you notice, lots of burger joints pay homage to Lou with their menu (Zippy's, Loretta's NW, etc) Price keeps going up, but such are the times.

Best fish and chips I've ever had. Tender cod with perfectly crisp breading. Consistently excellent fries. Great burgers too - especially the mushroom cheeseburger. Quick service considering that everything is made to order. Fair prices. The setting isn't glamorous, but it fits the industrial neighborhood, and the focus is on the food, where it belongs. Highly recommended.

This place have been around for years.. I've only been going for close to 3 years. The fish sandwich is my favorite it's amazing three nice pieces of fish in between a bun with all of the fixings on it, everything's made to order which is a great right🙃 because who doesn't want their food made fresh.

This place has great burgers good fish excellent shakes fries need a little work they're not very crispy and go cold quickly but don't taste too bad I think the only bad point but yet it's a good point for them is I wouldn't recommend going there for lunch unless you have plenty of time cuz you're going to be waiting cuz they're usually pretty busy

Very good fries!! Soft Crunchy and dark golden brown that gives it a great flavor!! Their tater sauce I felt was quite unique. I’m not really a fan of tarter sauce and often skip it, but I tried theirs and felt it was different than most. Perhaps it was that special mysterious ingredient added to sauce. It was great with the fish and the sauce didn’t taste to heavy on the palate. Tasty sauce!!:)

I wish I took a picture of my Salmon burger. It was so delicious. It wasn't dry or covered in breading. You can see the salmon. I plan on coming again but with my kids. This place is very good. People are so nice and friendly. I loved it. ❤

Not a big fan of their fries, and have simply never tried the fish & chips (fries, of course), but I have friends and acquaintances swear by them. What I'm looking for in an industrial-area restaurant in any city, solid and dependable food made to order.

By's came up in my Google Maps search for a good burger when I was in an area I was unfamiliar with. I gave them a try and I am glad I did. Their hamburgers are fantastic! I was amazed at the quality of the burger I pulled out of my to go bag. One of the best made and best tasting I've had in years. The fries are real, unprocessed potatoes and the milk shakes are made with real ice cream. The service was friendly and fast. A great place to get a quality burger meal. Next time I'll try the and chips. Thanks, By's.

Pretty cool spot. You can tell it's been there for ages, but it's a cheap burger spot in sodo, what more could you ask for? Had lunch with a friend here today and I'd come back again. I'd probably skip the fries though, they left a lot to be desired (seasoning wise). Burger was great, and I've read great things about the shakes so I am planning on trying those out sometime. Quick and friendly service, with a smile!

I realize that there were and are tons of people inside of this joint but I really didn't find their burger to have a wow factor. The prices however seem to be pretty good when comparing it to a place like a Jack in the box. I ordered a peanut butter milkshake, and it only had a hint of peanut butter which was disappointing for almost $5 for a small. They had some specialty burgers so I would probably come again just to try those.

Burgers are ok. Fish and chips are great. Shakes are awesome. Prices are a bit high , but this is Seattle , all small businesses are having to jack up their prices to cover extra tax being imposed by them by the Seattle City council and guess who helps pay for it. The owners are always friendly service is fast the atmosphere is always good. if you're looking for a coffee forget about ladybug coffee which is in their parking lot I paid $10 for an Irish cream latte that'll be the last stop I'll ever make at the ladybug coffee place.

When you take the time to have some very unhealthy fried food, this is the place you should go. Their burgers, fish sticks, french fries are delicious. The service is also pretty good. The one odd thing about this place is that behind it there is a recycling center FULL of garbage (hence only 4 stars), but once you walk in, just go and enjoy your meal. I plan to go back.

Pretty good burgers and shakes that don't stress your wallet 😀. It's got that classic DQ-like feel of years gone by...but alas its pretty much like a dive/truck stop. Still, as dives often go, grub is good. And they do have buffalo burgers. Limited free parking. Inexpensive. It's small, so small groups only.

Its actually a decent burger and the fries are good and the shakes are thick. Prices are good. Where they screw you is if you dont say the exact name of what you what you dont get it. I understand that sounds weird but for example...Louis Special - 10.49 reads double bacon cheese burger with fries and a drink. If you order a double bacon cheese burger with fries and a drink they will price each individual item which makes that same meal 15.49 if you decide to get a shake instead of the drink they charge you full price of a shake making it now $18.78+$2 top and you over $20. Will I be back, probably it's on my way home.

I had the fish sandwich and tots. The tots were crispy. The bun was cold and the cheese was stiff. I also paid$3.99 for 13 tots. Not worth the price. My friend had the 3 piece fish. The breading fell apart but she liked her fries and strawberry shake.

Yes this is a dine-in fast food restaurant. The food is delicious. I had a regular burger meal; hamburger, fries and beverage. Loved it. Usually go on dinner break at least once a month. Lots of parking available-- rare, close to downtown Seattle.

Food is good. I like the fact it. Still looks as it did decades ago. Not many businesses can keep it historical. Sure it looks not so great and there are many undesirables wandering around its not the businesses fault. @ the reviewer that was wining about the bums and crackheads. I'm sure they do what they can to keep it clean and safe for their customers. I've seen far worst.. cough.. IMO, 99% places on Capitol hill (broadway) in particular however the difference is these people care.
