I heard about kolaches just recently and this place was a great recommendation by a friend who visited who lived in Texas. Love the savory and sweet options, they make the perfect duo. The bread was nice and soft with the perfect amount of delicious filling. I enjoyed the egg, cheese and bacon along with an apricot and pistachio one!

Fast, friendly service, and fair prices. The store is fairly small so I’d encourage you to get these to go. The kolaches themselves are amazing. They have several sweet and savory options that would satisfy just about anyone. I got one of the “spicier” options and did not find it spicy, but I was coming from months of eating Arizonan Mexican food so it’s hard to compare. This is a cost effective way to get a good breakfast or lunch, especially if you get one savory and one sweet.

First time visiting this place. The place is pretty small located in a corner of a shopping strip. Has some pretty cool interior decoration. Got the bacon, egg and cheese Kolaches that was really good also got the sweet version of the mixed berry kolache with raspberries and blueberries along with cheese. I liked the bacon egg and cheese one better than the sweet kaloche. Would visit again. The prices are also pretty reasonable.

One of our favorite places to visit anytime we visit the Salt Lake City downtown area. The food is so good that there's no other place like this in the SLC area. Make sure you visit early in the morning, to get a chance to taste all kinds of flavors.

Prior to Hruska's, I had no idea what a kolache was. Now my life has improved significantly. The best way I can describe a kolache is a breakfast bun stuffed with all sorts of good stuff. We ordered the sausage, egg, and cheese, sausage and gravy, sausage, cheese, and jalapeno, raspberry, and strawberry kolache. None disappointed. The jalapeno was so good. Great flavor with very little kick. The raspberry and strawberry kolaches were very good as well but on the sweeter side (think more of a dessert). I have a rule where I don't order stuff biscuits and gravy at breakfast places because my wife's family is from the south and has that meal mastered. However, my wife ordered it and it was very good (one of the best attempts in the state). Be prepared to wait in line and the daily specials sell out quickly. It's a small place with some seating in the back on a patio but I'd plan on taking the kolaches home with you. They're open at 6:30 and close when everything is sold out for the day. The buns are around $3 each and they are filling. I think most people would be satisfied with one but I always order two (they're so good)! We'll definitely be back to this place.

Delicious. Filling. Cute! A friend brought these fresh kolaches into work, and they were still warm. We were surprised at how hefty they feel-- it is STUFFED with all the good stuff. I had a sausage jalapeño egg kolache and it was a tasty breakfast and I wanted to elbow my way for a second bun. We'll be checking it out on our own some other time.

We got two savory and three sweet pastries at ~8:30am. They were a bit cold and doesn’t seem like fresh baked as they claim to. The bread is okay, not too hard and not too soft. Just doesn’t taste and feel like it’s made on the same day. Nothing special with the flavor too.

I love breakfast foods, but I didn't really feel like having pancakes or waffles or whatever today. Hruska's picture on DoorDash caught my eye and I decided to take a closer look. I've never heard of kolaches before, but they looked so good so I decided to try it. This is now my favorite breakfast food place ever! They were so cheap, I decided to try a variety of the kolaches - a savory one (sausage, egg, and cheese), along with a raspberry, cherry, and strawberry. They smelled SO GOOD when they arrived. They were cooled down a bit, understandably, considering the temperature outside and the delivery time, but the reheating instructions worked great for the savory one. (I decided not to reheat the fruit ones and eat them room temp or cold instead.) After just that one, I already felt really full - which rarely ever happens for me - but I really wanted to try one of the fruit ones right away as well so I tried the cherry one. Both kolaches were AMAZING, and I put the other two in the fridge for later. Between the low cost and the amazing quality, I 100% will order again, and when I get the chance I'll definitely be checking them out in person.

This was made for being ate in the car one handed and not making a mess or distracting driving… other than it takes so good you wanna take a pic of it after the first bite! Was told to grab some kolaches last minute, (but early in the am), and glad I got there early. The place was kinda hidden in a strip mall near the IHC Memorial Clinic. I got there around 8:30am and was able to do a mixed order of "savory" kolaches. The young lady assisting me was very nice and quick with the completion of the order. As I was paying, ten other customers walked through the door. The bread was amazing! If you are going to order more than two dozen, you have to call in or preorder. Get there early or they will run out... They are THAT busy!

Texas in Utah!!!! This sausage and gravy kolache was a meal in itself! The flat version with the fruit and cream was a GLORIOUS dessert for breakfast!! You cannot come to Salt Lake City without eating here. The staff was inviting and knowledgeable about what they were selling! Feels like stepping into the Czech stop in West, Texas!!!

Pictured here we're the Twilight Specials from the end of July: Harry's Birthday Cake - Gooey half-baked chocolate cake in the middle and topped it with pink and green icing Butter Beer - Caramel, butterscotch, cream soda and marshmallow Dumbledore's Sherbet Lemon- House lemon custard and pop rocks. And the Fruity Classics - Peaches and Cream, Strawberries and Cream and Raspberries and cream. So delicious!! The ordering could be a *little* easier for the Twilight orders (there are a lot of steps with door dash), but not too bad. Go support this bakery if you are in Salt Lake.

I have not eaten a single thing at this place that wasn’t absolutely amazing! They have multiple choices and always fresh and delicious! I only gave 4 stars as my husband and I have encountered both outstanding and horribly rude staff at both the state street and sugarhouse locations during our dozen or so visits. I know it can be a stressful job when you are such a popular food location, but that is no excuse to treat customers rudely. To all of the staff that have been kind during our visits, we greatly appreciate it!

This place is a treasure! We've gone to the Provo locations more times than I can count, but moved recently to the Salt Lake area. This location is much bigger and has more stock. The kolaches we're fantastic. I'd say what ones we think are good, but everything we've tried is great. My last time in one of the staff asked if I'd tried their hot mustard. I'm not even a mustard guy really, but this changed my mind. That is some killer sauce. Love this place and the people that work here. Definitely will be back.

Wonderful Czech bakery with a wide variety of kolache (kolacky) flavours. Savoury fillings like egg and cheese, or sausage and gravy, and sweet fillings like cherry, blackberry, peach, or cinnamon. I really like the pastry itself, as it has a hint of sweetness without being overwhelming, it is light and fluffy inside with a delicate outer crust. The great fillings are a bonus. Super staff and cute back patio make this location a repeat winner on my list.

They're fantastic! A must stop if you want to try a great kolache! For me personally my favorite kolache is one like Pearl Snaps Czech kolache with their potato roll like fluffy soft texture versus these firmer bread / roll. But they're great nevertheless! There's is a more traditional yeasty dinner roll type. Which is also fantastic. Contents are always top notch! Love the cream cheese on the sweets. Other items not rated but relevant: Service I've always been super happy with even though at certain times the line is quite long. It's a small place not really room for eating in so plan on ordering and taking with.

What are Kolaches? It’s simple- they are delicious and something you need to eat a lot of...and you can get them right on S 900 E at Hruska’s. These are a big deal in Texas...but began in Eastern Europe and are buttery pastries filled with fruit or savory meats and cheeses. Hruska’s was on DDD on the Food Network and its sausage and gravy featured didn’t disappoint although my personal fav is the blue cheese and mushroom. Save a spot for the sweet fruit and nut kolaches...but beware...they are closed on Sunday...so make sure you grab some of the frozen poppers to fix at home that day!!!

Hruska's Kolaches in Murray, just like in their other locations, make for a delicious and unique breakfast. My wife and I love to order a few of their savory and sweet kolaches. I personally like their egg, cheese, jalapeno, an sausage kolache.

I love the kolaches here , but I have to admit a lot of the time the people that work there are rude. I have a lot of friends that love this place too, and we have spoken about it before. It seems a lot of people know that their customer service isn’t up to par. Just because you are busy, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t treat people un- kindly that are patrons of your business. I was in this morning and one of the girls that worked there snapped at me when I was simply asking for a replacement of one of my kolache‘s that a few minutes prior the one I wanted was out, and then I saw it be restocked. I think a reasonable request. It’s sad because I made an extra effort to get here early this morning and now it started my morning off wrong. I really like this place, but every time this happens I always debate not going back.

Best breakfast! There lines are super long but they are quick. If you see an empty tray of the one you wanted, don't fret, most likely a fresh tray will arrive by the time you get to the front of the line! The many and changing options are great for any craving.

Delicious! I crave these all the time since I found out about them. The bread is soft, doughy, and absolutely heavenly. I love the savory and the sweet ones; they are all just so perfect. Very filling and a great deal! I visit at least once a month to get a bacon egg and cheese and a strawberry kolache, and constantly rave about them to anyone who will listen. If I could give a higher rating than 5 stars I would.

They never disappoint. Sometimes I wish they would have more plain traditional varieties like I remember my Czech grandmother making but I get that they need to cater to the masses. They do have fantastic new flavors that she never made and that I love including vegetarian options. No dine-in yet. Get there early before they run out or if you want more than 2 dozen (because who wouldn't) order at least 24 hours in advance. This lil' dude loved his sausage, egg n cheese and raspberry and cream kolaches.

These kolaches should have a show off with the klonasniks at Four Czechs down in Dallas, Texas. (They're both incredible!!!) The staff was very friendly and as soon as you walk in you can tell it's a homemade bakery. I was on the run and couldn't grab more photos but this place is so worth the try. Side note, nothing here is vegan although there are a couple vegetarian options that are absolutely delicious!

If you love yummy soft baked goods, this is your place. We came here for the first time not long ago and were not disappointed. Their pastries are soft and fresh. We had some chocolate and some fruit flavors and loved them all. I would suggest showing up earlier in the day as the best flavors seem to run out fast!

I had no idea what a Kolaches was and I have been missing out. They are amazing! It's kind breakfast wrapped up in doughy love. They have great parking, same lot as Even Stevens. Tons of vegetarian options! I couldn't even eat 2, super filling at a great price.

Forgot breakfast and was going on a big hike. I got the Texas Style kolaches, which has a Polish dog, cheese, and pickled jalapenos. It was good! They advertise that they're open until they sell out so I would recommend earlier rather than later

Seriously the best Kolaches I've EVER had and I travel for a living!!! Not to mention the atmosphere made me feel right at home during pride month 😂 I got a Ranchero, a Mexican, a sausage & gravy, a Texas style, a peach, and a cold brew coffee kolache. I had every intention of saving 3 for lunch, but they were so delicious I ate them all!!!

Never had another kolache, but I don't see how a food could possibly be improved from what Hruska's is putting out. Don't sleep on their sauces either! One warning, don't even bother with the coffee here, as it's definitely viewed as an afterthought by the staff, and tastes like it as a result.

Absolutely fantastic! I got the Argentinian empanada. Very strong lemon flavor (which I loved). Really dense and solid. They have such a great/wide variety of both savory and sweet kolaches. Great and friendly service. This place is incredibly popular for a reason. I highly recommend it! I think there's only one vegetarian option, but my coworker said it's delicious.

Got the sausage egg cheese/bacon egg cheese. The one with egg peppers avocado. Peach bourbon & strawberry Nutella. Got 6 for $20. Came a hour before closing on Monday, there was a selection. Shared between 2 people. I say go with 1 savory and 1 sweet per person because these are huge and filling! I would come back!

If you have not had these before it’s time you do yourself a favor and go get them. They have about as many flavors you’d ever need for a morning stuffed roll. So delicious. I thought they only had their Provo location so when we moved to SLC I was sad, little did I know they had one next to my doctors office! Guess I’ll be doing morning visits from here on out.

The cream kolaches were amazing, reminds me of my Czech grandma and what I grew up with! I wish they sold other Czech foods and pastries as well. They should definitely expand! I love having something Czech in Utah! There’s not much here, it’s even hard to find a Czech who speaks Czech anymore.

Quick good food for a very fair price. Saw them on the food channel and have been 3 or 4 times since. Friendly staff who are helpful with ordering if you've never been. Good balance of sweet and savory so there is something for everyone. This is one of those places that is more than food... it feels like a fun family event. Don't expect to sit and eat though. Even pre Corona there was very limited seating. Love that they make a certain amount each day and they're done when they sell out! Good reason to get there as early as you can.

This was one of my go to breakfast places when living in Provo. SO yummy. You do need to get there asap in the mornings to have the full selection but that is one of the things I love about it. I’ve never gone where there isn’t a line of some sort (because it’s that good and that worth it) and they have something for everyone here. I usually get at least one sweet and one savory option when I go. You won’t regret coming here!

I visited today (8/5) for my first time and got a sausage egg and jalapeño kolache. It was pretty tasty, baked to perfection with an ever so slightly crusty exterior. It was hot out of the oven and didn’t need reheating. Service was nice and friendly. Interestingly, the door sign said masks recommended. However, not one of the six workers was wearing a mask, not even on the chin as is so often seen. I recommend visiting.

This place is really overrated. Ordered two Kolaches. “Beef stew” was cold and contained almost no beef. It was mostly veggies that were undercooked. Cold, crunchy carrots and gravy in a bun - not a 5 star breakfast. “Texas style” was better but not amazing.

Great flavors and special menu items (today was chicken and broccoli with Asian 5 spice). It's a little hard to find tucked into the corner of a shopping center, but well worth it. Parking can be rough when it's busy, but visit in the off times and you'll be fine. A great value and my kids love the fruit kolaches.

Place seems to be going downhill. Used to be super tasty every time. Gooey, Soft, cheese ratio excellent, bacon thicker. Now is consistently worse every time. Sometimes too cheesy, sometimes bread is over or undercooked. Eggs can be rubbery and bacon can be sloppy. I will still keep trying and hope the quality goes up. Would give 2 stars but used to love this place so much so they get 3

Just discovered this place about two weeks ago and I've already been back twice. It's quick, affordable, and delicious. Perfect if you need to grab a fast breakfast on the way to work. For those who aren't familiar with kolaches- it's a soft bread that comes with various fillings- sweet or savory. The sweet are somewhat similar to a Danish, whereas the savory are more like a pocket with the filling entirely enclosed by the bread. My favorites of what I've tried so far are the bacon, egg, cheese and jalapeno, along with the sausage, egg, cheese and jalapeno. Looking forward to going back again and trying more varieties!

This was the only place outside ot Texas where I had heard of kolaches. Turns out the owners are from Texas! Totally worth the drive. My daughter told me about this place. Drove almost all night from Cheyenne to get there as close to opening as possible. We bought several, went back to the car, ate all of them, and went back for more. The sausage gravy kolaches was particularly good as was the one with the polish sausage, cheese, and jalapeño. The fruit kolaches were great too! Recommendation? Get there early, go there often!

If they've sold out of my favorite flavor (plain cream cheese), he'll make me some fresh ones within 10 min. We ordered 4 dozen for our family at Christmas and they were gone in an hour. Probably my very favorite breakfast in Salt Lake! So many different flavors and they also always have seasonal flavors that get switched out. The sweet kolaches also make a good dessert. Make sure to go to the back table area where they have some homemade sauces that are unique and delicious!

I love Kolaches! I am a fan of the Provo location as well. I like that this one has more space than Provo. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because there have been multiple occasions at this location where I order a kolache with egg and it has egg shells, which completely ruins it. Of course that will happen sometimes, but I feel like it happens often enough that I am scared to get the egg ones, so I choose something else. I feel like I didn't have that problem ever at the Provo location, don't know what is happening different. But everything else is great!

We heard about this place from Diners, Drive ins and Dives, and we thought it was so good! We came close to closing, so the selection wasn't as big, but what we got was superb!! Lots of flavors packed into each kolache, and some very yummy sauces to go with them! And the restaurant itself has such a fun quirky vibe to it!

I've been going to this place since it opened. Great breakfast food! Truly an original concept for Utah. Kind of a bummer that the food Network blew this place up. The line gets out the door on Saturdays after 7:30 and there are times in which people will order several dozen and wipe out the small shop. They just implemented a new rule because of this. If you want 2dozen or more, call ahead and they can make a batch for you.

Who knew kolache was Czech for heaven? These little wonders are the only way to start a good day. They bake until around 1130 (contrary to how people on here make it sound) so if you dont see the flavor you want wait a couple minutes and it usually comes out. Be sure to try the hot sauces as they take them from being amazing to being unbelievable. If there is a line don't let it scare you. These guys move through it pretty quickly. They also have weekly weekend specials that are out of this world.

We LOVE Hruska's Kolaches!!! Sometimes we drive down from Davis County just to have them. Our whole family had something we like here. Kolaches are like a large white roll filled with amazing things like sausage and gravy, or chorizo, or bacon and eggs. They also have sweet ones that have fruit and cream cheese. So good!

Here’s the deal: Lines out the door are the universe’s way of telling you that you are making good choices in your life. In the case of Hruska’s, it’s a fast line, which makes it all the more wonderful. We tried the Gumbo, Brisket, Texas Style, peach, and raspberry. Tears. Actual tears. The dough was fully cooked but insanely buttery soft. The fillings were marvelous but not overpowering or overfilled. Who was I before Hruska’s? I honestly don’t remember anymore. Stand in the line. Get the kolache. Forget your own name.

Very unique place in salt lake City. I highly recommend going there. there isn't any seating so you'll have to get the food to go. Make sure you get there early because they tend to run out of the various things on the menu. They have some custom hot sauces you can put inside the dishes which are really good.

Hruska's is always a tasty choice, and yes, I say that after living in central Texas. They have a wide variety of sweet and savory kolaches, and all of the ones I've tried have been delicious. The wide ranging selection includes great vegetarian options. The only downside is you have to get in early, but it is worth it.

The food is delicious, the service is good, and the price is great. I’ve had most of their flavors at this point, and I’ve yet to encounter one I didn’t like. Their kolaches are delicious whether eaten promptly while still hot or many hours later when they’ve become lukewarm from sitting on your coworker’s desk all morning. They’re also very filling. One kolache is a very sufficient breakfast, though you’ll want to get another one for later. The location is clean and pleasant, but be aware that there isn’t a ton of seating. You’ll likely want to take your kolaches to go.

I had heard that Hruskas was the best in Utah so I decided pick up a bunch of Kolaches for my office. I got there at 7:30 (an hour after they opened) and was surprised that so many options were already sold out. I'm not mad about it, must be pretty good to sell out that fast. The employee was very helpful in picking out different flavors and drew a nice little map on the box so we knew which Kolaches were which. I also love the store's Texan decor. Nice touch y'all. And my word, the Kolaches were incredible. Most of my coworkers (including myself) have never had a kolache and I think we are going to make this a regular thing at work. Every flavor was delicious and the dough itself could bring a grown bull rider to tears. You guys at Hruskas are killin it. Keep up the good work.

Old kolache place in town got me hooked and Hruska's more than makes up for the long drought in SLC. The bread has a great texture with just the right amount of sweetness and the fillings are very flavorful and of good quality. I went looking for egg, cheese, jalapeño, and breakfast meats but found quite a few great surprises. The Cuban style pulled pork kolache were fantastic! Sweet tender pork with just a hint of spice and citrus ending with a well balanced vinegar tang. These are really nice and satisfying. Grabbed a box for the office and they were super popular. Great to see such flavorful vegetarian options too!
