Reviews of Flatbread Company
The Shepcoon
My group was walking around the Old Port and stumbled across this gem. The inside was nice and spacious, very clean. Sat next to the water and enjoyed some great brick oven pizza and drinks. This place hit the spot and became an instant favorite. The waitress was very nice and attentive. We will definitely be back.
Karuna Meena
Great food and server. Loved their local beer and whisky cocktail. Their pizza and pizza bread is quite unique. I had pepperoni mushroom pizza. It was delicious. Their brownie Sundae was also quite good

We have been to this specific location twice and have not been disappointed either time. We found this on our first trip to Maine while driving through Portland and specifically chose to come here again on our second visit. As long as it's available we will come back here. Keep up the quality, flavor and vibe.
Barbara Mele
Delicious pies with unique combinations as well as classics. Beautiful space that looks over the port, with an open format that shows off their two ovens. Gluten free option for the pizzas too!
Patrick Sawicki
Great food, solid selection of local beers and a good view of the bay.
You can get pizza or flat breads, the homemade red sauce is absolutely delicious, had to catch a plane, so couldn't take any with me :-(
I will definitely recommend to anyone visiting Portland and will return next time I'm in town.

This place is awesome!! It was the third place we went to that evening, so full honesty we were already a little tipsy.
I wish we had started with flatbread though cause it is fantastic! The staff are so friendly and fun to the point we really wanted to just ask our server to sit down and have some pizza and drinks with us.
Speaking of said pizza and drinks, they were phenomenal, we just got a cheese pizza but it was delicious and our mixed drinks were great!
Atmosphere is super cool, you can see where they make the pizza and they're tossing it in the air and the ovens are just right out where you can watch and it's just really fun!
Would highly recommend flatbread for a fun night out, just grabbing a quick bite or even a group celebrating something, absolutely a blast!
Jim Anderschat
I have lived in the area my whole life, but this was the first visit to Flatbread. Definitely worth the wait!
I had the Pepperoni and Mushroom flatbread and it was fantastic. We enjoyed a cocktail overlooking the waterfront and all was well.
Now I understand the huge lines I see during the summer. This place is legit!

I had a phenomenal Saturday lunch here! I ordered the individual side salad, the 12-inch vegan pizza, and a hard kombucha. WOAH, where do I even start?! The salad was super fresh and flavorful with crisp lettuces and a really tasty dressing. I loved the bits of Maine sea kelp mixed in along with lots of shaved carrots and celery. I finished the entire thing before my pizza even came out - it was that good! The pizza was sooo delicious, too. Hot with a thin, crispy crust and chock full of flavor. I loved the contrast between the sweetness of the caramelized onions + saltiness of the vegan cheese & mushrooms. As with the salad, I finished the entire pizza. The kombucha was very refreshing with a hint of ginger. My meal was filling but did not leave me feeling overly stuffed. My server was super friendly and attentive. I really enjoyed my conversation with her. All of the employees were friendly, and it was obvious they enjoy working there. I also loved being able to watch the pizzas being made while I enjoyed my meal. I can’t wait to return next time I’m in Portland!!
Michael L
The salad was quite big, but I still managed to save room for dessert after the pizza. The brownie sundae and blueberry crumble were both amazing. Glad we decided to get both and share.
Camilo Castelblanco
To begin, the atmosphere is great. There is 2 huge ovens where you see cooks making an incredible pizza (which is called flatbread). The taste is balanced(compared to many American versions of a pizza). It has a thin crust, flavorful sauce, and high quality toppings.
Scott Looney
After 5 or 6 seafood meals in a row, maybe you are in the mood to change it up a little. Wood fired pizza would be at the top of my list. It was later like after 8 and we sat at the bar, our bartender was great and treated us like kings. We sampled some of the local beers and ordered a few pizzas. I ate the entire thing. Nuff said.
danae russum
Flatbread seemed like a Portland favorite and now I understand why. It was so busy we had to sit at the bar but no problem since the bartenders were awesome and the food was even better. I started with a Munjoy Mule and their fingerling potato salad. Didn't leave any crumbs. Then we had the lamb special flatbread and the vegetarian special. Both flatbread were incredible.
Kristin R
We were referred here from the front desk at the HGI across the street and so glad we came in! I had a seasonal salad with strawberries and goat cheese and it was AMAZING. Flatbread were great and drinks as well. Will return again if we're in the area!
Scott Stanley
Very nice food and service. I had a sausage flatbread. It was very good. The restraunt is located in the middle of the downtown area. Many nearby things to do.
Vraj Thakkar
Decent Pizza, and friendly service. Outside seating is better and Summer Vibes are great. Better options available in Portland for Pizzas.
Will Gunther
Pizzas all looked amazing, I had the gluten free which was very good, not the usual dry cracker crust you usually get. The back is sheltered from the wind so don't worry about sitting outside.
Allie Taylor
This pizza place is honestly so hard to beat. Everything is homemade and fresh and you can tell with every bite. My kids love watching the pizza get tossed and put in the clay ovens. After eating here it's hard to compare to basically any other pizza place around. So good! Not to mention the service here is always amazing. The staff is so kind. Great vibes all around!
Pushkar Ghanekar
Great salads and flavorful pizza with fresh ingredients. Nice ambience and friendly staff.
Juliana Hacken
Delicious pizza and great dessert. The brownie had a hint of cinnamon that made it all come together nicely.
Michaela S
We shared the PE, it was delicious! The atmosphere was cozy but industrial. We loved watching the pizza being made. The customer service was great, everyone was very helpful and friendly. Tables were safely spaced.
PJ Hamidi
We loved this place. We ordered a vegan flatbread (with vegan cheese), and an individual house salad. Excellent food. Props to our waiter who recommended dipping the flatbread in the house dressing (ginger tamari vinaigrette I think).
Henry Voros
I typically veer more towards your traditional meat lovers type pizza, but decided to try the Chicken Bacon Ranch tonight. It was absolutely outstanding and I have no idea how it could be made any better. The crust was so light and fresh and the combination of flavors and proportion of ingredients seemed perfect. Some pizzas seem great at the moment, but just sit there in your gut afterwards because they are greasy, etc. This one went down smooth and makes you feel like you’re still ready for the night without weighing you down. 👍
Kelsey Bohn
The best dairy free pizza I’ve had! Really grateful for the dairy free option and that I could build my own since I don’t need it to be vegan. The proportions of sauce to cheese to toppings were perfect. My partner got the pepperoni mushroom with dairy cheese and loved it. We sat in the shaded outdoor area overlooking the water and it was lovely.
christopher benny
The ingredients were all fresh and tasted great. However the bottoms of some of the flatbreads were burnt and the taste was representive of this (some folks might like this but I personally felt that it took away from the flavor profile).
Daniel Ochoa
Great location by the water. Pizza was super good! Whole family loved it. We ended up coming again to eat a few days later. If you're in Portland definitely stop here to eat.
Lois Miele
Lunch, sat out on deck, beautiful ocean air, sounds and scenery. Salad with goat cheese was fresh and delicious. Very light dressing brought all the flavors together. Such a tasty pizza. Pepperoni and fresh mushrooms. The iced tea sweetened with maple syrup, I added a bit of lemon, was phenomenal. A must try. Childrens menu, dog friendly, all ground level and lots of room.
Troy Hollihan
Suuuuper yummy! Nice thin, crispy crust. Bold, delicious flavors. We got seats at the bar but there's deck seating right on the water. The staff was friendly and and attentive. We split the cheese pizza and the mushroom/ onion, we'll be back.
Becky Freker
Delicious! Fun vibe! Eco-friendly...vegan options! Outdoor seating by the water. Friendly staff! Can watch them make the flatbreads in the brick oven! Highly recommend if you are in Portland!
Elizabeth Yankowski
The potato and greens salad was fantastic, as was the Jay’s Heart pizza! Quick service and delicious food.
rodney alejandro
Great find on Portland’s waterfront. We arrived on a Friday evening had about a 40min wait to be seated. Got a great table overlooking the water. We were all hungry, edgy and waited another 15 minutes before someone came up to take an order. The waitress must of sense our hangry and immediately ease everyone with pleasant conversation. Kudos to her. Pizza arrived piping hot. Tasted truly freshly made with the right balance of toppings. The pizza crust was fired to perfection. Not too crusty and not too chewy.
Really enjoyed the experience and the food!
jess connor
The entire experience was fantastic! We loved the fact that we could see the wood fired oven, and the kitchen was extremely open and clean. The view was beautiful and entertaining watching the various boats come and go as we enjoyed our meal.
Our experience with the staff was wonderful. They were prompt, friendly and entertaining.
The food was second to none. It was probably the best flatbread pizza we have had in Maine. The desserts were also incredible, even the gluten free sundaes. The best part? For a family of 5, the meal cost us a fraction of the price compared to any restaurant in our hometown area and we didn't skimp on food, either. We had an appetizer, a meal and dessert with drinks!
We will be back this summer! Can't say enough good things about this place.
Chef
Have enjoyed Flatbread for years but last night was the best ever. Our waiter was outstanding. The local Vodka was awesome. The salad was perfect and the pizza insane! Best of all…..no waiting, no lines!!!
Cory Phillips
Been here many times. The salad with goat cheese is incredible. Superb pizzas, all of them are worth trying but my favorite is the mushrooms with caramelized onions. Great view in Portland also, check it out for sure. Service is also good.

The Flatbread Company is a small chain of restaurants that have locations nationwide and was started in Massachusetts in 1998. We visited the Portland, Maine location on Commercial Street. This place is know for their flatbread pizzas and their clay ovens that take the center stage of the restaurant. This location is offering indoor and outdoor seating and they are right next to the water so you can get some amazing views if you're sat at the right table. They do take reservations as the wait would have been over an hour if our friends didn't make a reservation for our party of five. The atmosphere is large and open with the smell of wood fired ovens filling the air. Our server was attentive and helpful as well as friendly. The food was good but wasn't amazing. Seems as though when they're busy, presentation isn't a priority. Overall I would come back to try other unique flavors but would probably skip the flavors you can get anywhere else.
My wife and I both got small flatbread pizzas. I got the Mopsy’s Kalua Pie, which had, smoked free-range pork shoulder or oven-roasted free-range chicken (I got both), homemade organic mango BBQ sauce, organic red onions, fresh pineapple, Sunset Acres goat cheese, whole milk mozzarella, Parmesan, garlic oil, organic herb mix. This was an exceptionally good pie. I really enjoyed the mango bbq sauce as a base and the goat cheese with the mozzarella really made for a pleasant taste. I really appreciate the fact that they offer higher quality meats and toppings as it really imparts better flavor to the meal. The only thing I didn't like is the ingredients were kind of scattered about in clumps. (See pictures) some slices had a whole bunch of pineapple or onions and some didn't have any toppings at all. They must have rushed through putting this together as they were busy and just threw the toppings on. I would like to have onion, pineapple, cheese and meat on every slice, not just on half of the pizza.
My wife got the Pepperoni & Mushroom which had All-natural, uncured pepperoni with organic mushrooms, their organic tomato sauce, whole milk mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, homemade garlic oil and their blend of organic herbs. This pizza was topped better than mine and had pepperoni and mushroom on almost every slice but my wife mentioned that the center could have been cooked a bit more and was a bit soggy and flimsy. It could have been that our pizzas were coming out one at a time and hers was sitting at the table for at least 5 minutes before the last pizza had reached the table so she wasn't really able to try it fresh out the oven. The sauce was lacking a bit on the pizza itself as well. She really enjoyed the flavor and liked her pizza but it wasn't anything special to me. It satisfies the pepperoni and mushroom craving though.
Lastly, we had the shortbread with whipped cream and strawberries for dessert. Again, presentation was lacking. It was okay but I wish they had caramelized one side of the shortbread or toasted it in a pan with some butter and drizzled some caramel on top. They dusted with powdered sugar but you could hardly see it.
In the middle of the restaurant they have these big boards that show where they source their food here and also list specials and beer selection. Our server let us know what they were when he showed up to the table and gave us a brief rundown of everything. The wife and I had a couple drinks and we appreciate that most of the drink selection that they had was local to Maine. I like this place but maybe would like them better if we went when it wasn't so busy.

Came here on a Sunday at 4pm and was able to snag a table on the back patio pretty quickly (30m maybe?). Bring a jacket, it's cold with those seawinds! Service was excellent and there was adequate social distancing. I think the food was quite solid although I've never understood why people lose their absolute minds over Flatbread. It's very good...but it's not mind-blowing, hence the 4 stars. We got 2 salads (the fingerling potato salad with dill creme freche and the seaweed organic salad) as well as 2 pizzas (sausage white and organic veggie). All really good stuff -- fresh ingredients, great crust, lots of toppings. Solid beer selection as well. Dessert was a warm banana bread with ice cream and whipped cream, which was demolished in minutes.

Flatbread CO. Took a minute to find their entrance, it's sort hidden. However, well-worth the search, they are truly great! Flatbread pizzas are even better then traditional ones, and their combos are -sometimes non-traditional but - perfect. Great enough to get me stop by a second time in a week. Cheers.

Don't order delivery through their website. It goes through door dash and we received a random person's sushi roll instead of our 5 large pizzas for a party at which everyone was hungry. Got hung up on about 5 times in a row when I tried to call flatbread to tell them. I understand it was a busy night but this is unacceptable. We specifically ordered from them because we thought it was in house delivery and it didn't say it was door dash until after we had entered payment. Ruined our party.
Edit: Got through to the business after many ignored calls and they resolved the situation financially and with additional compensation.

Delicious pizza, great view of the water, and very fresh ingredients!!!

My wife gave birth to our third child today, and she absolutely loves Flatbread so we decided to order dinner here tonight. After going online, they stated they were not taking online orders due to being at full capacity and being short staffed. I decided to come in person and try to be a good husband and make my wife happy, and was met by the most amazing staff, who were as excited as I was to hear about my son being born! They called their manager Amy over, who told me to order whatever we wanted, and that our meal was on the house! I was expecting to be kindly turned away, but instead was extremely surprised by the kindest people in the world who know how to make someone’s amazing day even better. Thank you everyone for celebrating with us and starting a new yearly family tradition of celebrating our son’s birthday at The Flatbread Company!

The food at the Flatbread company was good, but what really made a difference was the level of service and sanitization was really good to see. The restaurant had both indoor and outdoor seating and were following strict social distancing and seating rules. We ordered three pizza pies:
Casco Bay Community
Jay's Heart
Cheese & Herb
Taylar Haney
OMg so good! Definitely going again🤤😁👍😋
Claudia Salas Lyman
Great place for lunch and gathering with friends. Friendly staff and the food is very good. I am vegan and they had this big salad bowl in their menu. I was very happy with my meal and it also have vegan desserts. Only negative is the salad bowl was quite pricey and the vegan flat bread was a bit salty for my taste...but I would go again 😊
Amie A
Good pizza. They were down one pizza oven the night we were there so it took a while to get our pizza. Our server wallet us know right away. Cocktails were great. We were there on a Monday night at around 7 pm and they were out of a ton of things...steak for salads, certain cocktails, etc. Family friendly for sure.
Nora Cubberly
The greatest gluten free pie I have ever eaten!
Emma Conway
We had such a great meal here! Lauren was super attentive and the pizza was absolutely delicious! It was cooked perfectly with a nice amount of crunch to the flat bread (which is how we like it). We had the Jay's heart and a large was definitely enough for 2 people.
Emma “Snake Eyes” Baillargeon
Primo experience. I wanted a small corner to be able to write in/be left alone and that’s exactly what I got. My waitress only spoke to me twice; it was perfect. I tipped her highly for her service of ignoring me the right amount.
Leslie Snow
Wow did not disappoint. All was awesome.
Kelley Jorgensen
Fun, relaxed atmosphere. I'm dumb and ordered the salad thinking it was a pizza. It was fine, and the salad was good but the waitress offered to get me a pizza anyway. $60 for two of us.
Ruchika Kabra
We stopped at this place in Portland downtown while on a road trip from Acadia national park to Jersey. The restaurant has a very nice rustic feel to it, quite spacious and has outside sitting as well. You can see the pizza being cooked in fire oven. We ordered a customized veggie pizza with their signature marinara and fresh herbs. It was really really good! The crust had a nice crunch to it and it was not too cheesy. Did not get a chance to try the drinks here since we were driving but the list looked pretty tempting.
Deborah Bachrach
The place makes great pizza when they are slow and you dine in. I would give them a 4
Take out/delivery/ pick up:
I ordered their food for take out and it was cardboard and unbalanced in the sauce to cheese ratio. Also ordered and paid for two different salads at 2 different prices. I paid for the two different prices but didn’t get the blue cheese salad. So because of inconsistency I gave them a 3.
If you eat in it’s a 4 and get the hot sauce that burns your mouth but full of flavor!
Tina “Tina Las Vegas” LV
Homemade Sausage Pizza is divine! We added red sauce to it which made it even better (in my opinion) Such a
great place to grab a bite on the waterfront and enjoy the day. You won't be disappointed, I assure you!
Joshua
I'm amazed with how good the pizza is here! They've also got a substantial selection of beers and wines to choose from. From the friendly attentive waitress, to the cozy atmosphere, soft ambient music, candles and the wood stove all create a very relaxing environment. I love this place, and at a fair price with a water front view, this blew out our expectations. We're looking forward to our next visit.
John McIlvaine
Super bomb pizza, we got the weekly special, bacon, smoked gouda, it was delicious. They have gluten free options ($5 extra), wood fired pizzas, lots of beers on tap and they do beer flights!
Ruth Barton
Always a favorite, amazing pizza and drinks! Sat out on the patio right in the water, and had a lovely meal. ALWAYS get the Punctuated Equilibrium with mushrooms, and the homemade Sausage is my second option when there are a few of us eating. I'm NEVER disappointed! Had a sea urchin cocktail that was excellent. Also had a cranberry and vodka, talk about bang for your buck, $8.50 and it came in a pint glass!
Rayce Barnes
Very good pizza. Right off the water. Great quality ingredients. I will return next time. Beer flights available. Some delicious sweetener in everything....maple syrup. The hot sauce is incredible! Nom nom nom
Mieke Houbrechts
Great option for pizza in Portland. You can choose the pizza toppings to you liking, ingredients are fresh, staff is friendly. I'd recommend the Headlight Lemonade for drinks!
Ruth Boncorddo
I’ve had vegan pizza before but this was the BEST I’ve ever had. It had the perfect vegan cheese. Highly recommend!
Josh Lindgren
Great family spot with large comfortable booths. When you walk in, it smells delicious constantly. Give this place a try.
Avi S
I was very skeptical going into this place for a vegetarian-friendly meal in such a seafood-heavy place, even the menu was a little confusing, but I was very wrong. The pizza was amazing, we got jays heart and the community pies and they are amazing. We got shredded cheese, crushed red pepper, and garlic oil on the side and it made it even better.
Kyle M
Everything is farm to table. Salads, flatbreads, and a few deserts. The menu was a little confusing but if you are looking for a healthy pizza option that tastes great, this is the spot for you. A decent amount of beer, wine, and drinks available. I sat at the bar, great service, very friendly, and personable. Ordered a flatbread that came out within 10-15 minutes. Taste was amazing. There were a couple of dipping sauces, (hot and a dressing) the hot was a sweet hot and not for me but the dressing was nice. Finally got the brownie Sunday! Damn it was awesome!
Susan Montgomery
The pizza is AMAZING. We had Jay's Heart and the one with onions and mushrooms so so good. Everything is locally grown and organic. This restaurant is kid friendly. The brick ovens are open to the patrons. Our server Emily was just wonderful. The view was great also.
Brian Vickery
Best pizza in Portland. Hands down one of the best pizzas outside of Italy that we've tried. Fun to watch your pizza being prepped from start to finish right in front of you while you wait.
Jennifer
Nice pizza place. They even told us we could do half-and-half on small personal pizzas, so I took advantage to try more toppings. They have an interesting maple fennel sausage, but the star for me was a goat cheese, sweet red pepper, and Kalamata olive pizza. It was super good. They forgot the sausage on the sausage half, noticed that themselves, then brought me another full pizza, so now I have unexpected (but not unwelcome) free leftovers. It's good service when you don't have to bring their attention to an issue yourself, I think. It was very lively, even late on a Sunday night.
Kristyna Borden
Great location, comfortable dining area with views of the water and great service. The flatbread were delicious. The dough was light and tasty. The wood burning oven cooked the flatbread to perfection. We tried the Community and Punctuated Equilibrium. Both were delicious but the latter was my favorite. We had the beer flight which was a good deal and lets you sample different types. We liked the Bissel Bros and Austin Street. The two others were a raspberry sour and unfiltered cider. Ben our server was really friendly and offered great recommendations on the bear list. Would highly recommend if you're in the area and need a break from seafood.
Pedro Castillo
Awesome food, and the service was amazing, definitely I’ll be back. And i try one of the best beer in my entire life.
Brad Greening
My wife and I went here with our two children. We all really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. We will be back for sure.
Pam K
Absolutely fantastic wood fired flatbread. We ordered the cheese flatbread with caramelized onions and the vegan flatbread both of which were so, so delicious!!! Outdoor seating overlooking the ocean - watch the ferries and the drinks literally go on for days. Such an amazing evening with a delightful waitress!! We will definitely be back!!
Sunny D
I absolutely love the pizza, they have amazing Flatbread pizza. The outside seating has a gorgeous view of the port and the ocean. Their desserts are one of the best, especially their banana bread. I recommend coming here if you are ever in Portland.
Lauren Hanson
Yummy pizza, love the crust! When it has little black specks, you know it's truly wood fired..there is also the fire to prove it. Relaxed, chill vibe right next to Casco dock. Plenty of craft and local beer to choose from. Friendly and efficient service (thanks Timothy!). We really enjoyed it!
Katie Hall
Easily our favorite restaurant when we come back to Maine. We order parmesan and hot sauce with our pizza and enjoy checking out new and standard pizza options. This time we ordered a chicken bacon ranch pizza (sub mushrooms for tomatoes), a vegan pizza and a chicken, onion and cilantro tomato pizza. I tried the Rhubarb 75, but normally have the vodka drink at the top of the menu (something like "the headlight")-- both delicious. Service is great and the food is delicious!
Ryan Schneider
Came with a larger group and they did a great job accommodating us. All the different flatbreads we ordered were good, and the service was outstanding.
Summer Kubalak
Melissa was our server and she went above and beyond; our pizza didn’t come with chicken on it like we ordered but she immediately put in a new order and got us another one. We were so impressed by her kindness and efficiency. The food and environment were top notch as well!
David Mihalchik
If you are looking for a great pizza place on the water front in Portland, this is it! The whole family loved this restaurant. The service was friendly and attentive; the food was outstanding. Don't pass up the whoopie pie for dessert! We were only in Portland for two days and we liked it so much we returned the second day.
Stephen Pond
Such a great place and atmosphere! Love sitting at the bar while waiting for the ferry. Good food, awesome staff and a great location! Sometimes the wait is a bit long during prime times.
Jedediah McMunn
My party and I are from out of town and canme here at the recommendation of a friend who grew up in the area. This place was hoppin'! The food was damn delicious- vegetarian flatbread, Casco Bay flatbread, and pepperoni flatbread were on point. Seems all flatbreads are brick oven-cooked. Excellent selection of craft beer and tasty cocktails! Environment was nice, especially the outdoor seating area.
Wako Iwasaki
Food was super tasty. And having the GF and Vegan cheese options a super plus for our family. The taste of the alternative option was super as well. Love this place.
Bhavnish Tucker
I had a great visit! Fantastic service, and delicious food.
Went here with a friend and shared a Large Jay's Heart pizza. Came out very quick and was a fantastic pie.
The environment is very bubbly and cozy, with a nice modern rustic feel it. It was also very clean, spacious, and felt safe.
Would definitely come back for another bite!
phil pmgannon
Love the salad and pizza, but they have best hot fudge and ice cream antwhere
Chelsea C
In town for a weekend wedding and we ate here two days in a row!!! Bartenders were super friendly, flatbreads were delicious and the salads were so crisp, every dressing and dip we tried was good.
Mike Horn
It's a very hipster foodie place. They only serve pizza or salad. The prices are decent and the food is excellent. The quality is top notch with organic and sourced foods. The wait staff didn't stand out but the food and scene were top notch. Kid friendly too.
Matt Ferrara
The waitress was nice. The pizza was pretty good, maybe a little too much grease. They know how to make a well done pie upon request.
Gena Klaarwater
Amazing vegan & gluten free options, if required. Lots of care was taken with gf pizza to avoid cross contamination. Pizzas were loaded with veggies and Good Planet vegan cheez.
Kristy Lust
Very tasty! Especially enjoyed the veggie special on the day we visited. Great flavors. Friendly service. Brownie sundae definitely worth trying.
Keith Kaplan
Pizza is delicious across the board. It's a great experience to see how they cook it. They also have vegan and gluten free options as well. A must if you are in Portland.
Sabrina B
The waitress was nice. They had a fire the week before so there was a long wait. The salad was good but the chicken was over cooked.
CnJ Bernacki
Great atmosphere, super friendly staff and excellent flat bread.
Timothy Strong
Way way better pizza than I thought it would be. Pepperoni, roasted peppers, olives, and garlic. You won't be disappointed. Great view if you can get a spot.
Caitlin Adams
Most excellent pizza and first tequila shot with my granddaughter.....very friendly, attentive service. Looking forward to the next visit. Carne Flatbread pizza with Pineapple salsa, chicken with cream fresh Wasabi drizzle
Garrett Romines
This place is perfect. As someone from NYC, this is the best pizza. It’s just dreamy and perfect with their side of housemade ranch. The salmon salad and beer menus are great too. Can’t wait to come back.
RM R
Great flat bread pizza place right down by the port across from where the charter and ferry boats pick up. Great open high ceilings and laid back casual atmosphere, great for families - but still feeling sophisticated. Pizza and the salads were fantastic.
Bryan Nichols
Good food, served timely with GF and Vegan options. Main issue was the create your own seemed a bit confusing. I'm not one to ask questions so I just went with the one premade vegan option.
The vegan option had a great blend, the small was a good portion for a single person.
G O
Insanely delicious pizza, really good salad and excellent drinks. All on the water with excellent service and a great atmosphere. You can dine inside or outside, either way it's a fantastic dining experience I would highly reccomend!
Becca
The atmosphere here is great and so is the food and drink. Beautiful location right on the water and the pizza was delicious!

Large Pepperoni & Mushroom Flatbread
- delicious and the right amount for two people
- the only downside was that it was really oily, but still really delicious. My husband had oil dripping down his hands!
We were seated pretty quickly (window view, whoop whoop!) on a Wednesday night around 7PM.
Very cool interior, dim lighting, kinda noisy (had to talk above average)

Been here a dozen times or so. Great food great service and great cold beverages! Sat outside this visit and it was very tranquil.
Chris Woodsum
Great food with family. The atmosphere was buzzing as it was an incredibly busy night but the kitchen staff handled the crowd with ease.
Beth Gurney
Best service I've ever seen in a restaurant and also best pizza I've ever eaten and you get to see it being made and cooking. The food is all locally gotten and is just amazing. The flavors are incredible and the soda is all from Maine and the best you can get anywhere in Maine. Will definitely make thus a regular spot to eat even tho I live over an hour away!
Gregory Buzzell
Allergy menu is great but just a few details were missing (mayonnaise ingredients weren't listed). Gluten free crust was delicious but those with a soy allergy have very limited sauce options. Fantastic atmosphere, good times!!
Brandon Quarles
Chicken bacon ranch was delicious. Dessert was also really good. Must try the homemade ranch.
Rylee Pellegrino
So good!! The wait staff is a little "Portland" but super nice and overall delicious food. The blueberry lemonade looked great- I didnt order it, just saw it. Would definitely come back again for pizza and drinks.
Michael Berglund
Pricey for pizza but delicious. Even the unique sodas and fresh lemonade were great!
Jana Gill
Had a “vegan” pizza and added daiya mozzarella style cheese and the house made sausage. They put it in its own little tray to keep from cross contaminating. Also, organic salad was yummy. Really appreciate places like this one.
Paul Villavicencio
What a wonderful place! We were a party of seven and waited over an hour to get in. We put our names in at 7:00, but I have to say, it was definitely worth the wait! I can't even begin to tell you how delectable the pizza was and how friendly the service was and how clean this establishment was! I would definitely go here again! Thank you Flatbread for the wonderful experience!!
Joel Reavis
If you are even close to Portland you need to come here. One of the best pizzas ever, amazing beers on tap and great service. When you walk in you smell the wood burning ovens going. They also had some delicious desserts. My favorite restaurant we went to while on Portland!
Rocco Novielli
The atmosphere and views are great. The food was exceptional. I had the Wood Fired Margarita, if you like spicy then that’s the way to go.
David Mann
Elevated our pizza experiences. PE was awesome. We added maple sausage and skipped the black olives. Can't wait to go back on our next visit to the Old Port.
Alex Tey
Lots of delicious options—we thought the roasted red pepper and mushrooms came out very well. The gluten free crust was both crispy and chewy, which can be hard to find. We ordered online and didn't have to wait too long. It was just what we wanted.
Anthony Fontana
Visiting Portland from the NYC area, this restaurant was great to have in the middle of the trip for when you start to crave something other than seafood. They have great vegan/dairy free options for both Flatbread and dessert
motahareh tavakoli
My favorite pizza place in Portland. Delicious pizza and great deck to sit in.
Terri Coppens
Everything was great but I would just recommend maybe to invest in some heaters for the outside seating area.
G L
Good food. I ordered to go from their online menu and it was ready for the time I selected for pick up. There's lots of selection so everyone in our party was able to pick something they could enjoy. The greeters were friendly.
Isaac Kubalak
As the first stop on my family’s visit to Portland, everything about this place was incredible: a fun atmosphere, delicious food, and exceptional service. We got a flatbread that didn’t have one of the toppings we requested, but the staff gave us an entire new one at no extra charge nor questions asked. 10/10 would recommend !!
Kay Gotshall
Great food and pizza, even the crust was great. The service was quick and very friendly. Sat on back patio with a nice view, relaxing. Good beer too.
Lisa Yankee
Delicious food in a casual atmosphere with beautiful view... Best lemonade EVER! Friendly, efficient service tops it all off. Definitely recommend.
D Johnsen
Best place in Portland, especially for families! Fantastic food, atmosphere and I especially love their generosity!
Eugene S
Thank you so much for your amazing pizza. You all work tirelessly to make all your patrons happy. We are truly enjoyed your great service. This is a must visit place.
Karen Rathbun
Cool place to meet friends for pizza. They were super accommodating and the food was awesome
Katelyn Swanson
Delicious flatbread in the middle of Old Port! Loved the half & half option to try two types. Paired perfectly with the Raspberry’s My Jam from Foundation Brewing.
Kayla P
Really great salad and pizza—their vinaigrette was so fresh, had a little bit of a ginger taste! Really great food and super friendly staff! We would totally recommend!
Colleen Tobin
Food was tasty. Good variety of beer available.
Jay Allen
Average food. Good, just nothing special. Service was pretty meh, didn't see the waiter except at the beginning and when our food came out.
Andrea Fee
Gluten free pizza was the best ever. Great view and great food. Staff was okay...parking garage nearby was cheap and convenient
Derek Barbosa
Local beer and fresh eats. What more do you want?
Flatbreads were wonderful with incredibly fresh toppings!
Mark Vos
Wonderfull place at the Waterfront, awesome service, food and drinks.
Ashley White
My husband, 14 month old and I had a FANTASTIC meal here last night! We just so happen to be driving through town on acoustic Monday, and let me tell you the lady (I think her name was Layla) had an incredible voice! My son was so mesmerized by her that it was probably the easiest dinner we've had on our trip. Now to the food bit. We ordered the pepperoni and mushroom pizza and asked to only get the mushrooms on my half. This pizza was out of this world. The sauce was seasoned perfectly, it was fresh, and I totally could have eaten the whole large pizza myself had I known it was going to taste like that! The kitchen is wide open for you to watch as they make them, bake them and cut them. (Another thing my son absolutely loved) Overall, we were so thrilled that on our one night in town we just so happened to find this place and got to try it out.
Brett Lewis
Friendly service, great wood fired pizza and locally brewed beer. This is a good spot to grab a bite when you're visiting Portland.
Ryan Fischlein
I was recently on a trip to Maine and my wife insisted we stop at the Flatbread Company for dinner one night. She had been there once before about 12 years ago. She said the inside and feel of the restaurant had not changed one bit, in a good way. Our server was super nice and helped us pick out a flatbread. The food was delicious. I would definitely go back to try out more items.
Sarah Robson
We had the most wonderful experience at Flatbread. The food was excellent, and the service was top notch. We sat outside and enjoyed the wonderful views, while we drank delicious cocktails! Our server Courtney was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and drink list. The manager Johnny also stopped by our table to make sure everything was how we wanted! 10/10 recommend :)
Charlie Bacon
The pizza here is fantastic. The atmosphere is perfect. Our waitress was really friendly. They feature a lot of local beer. It can get very busy, but we called ahead and walked right in and sat down. We've been twice in two different trips to Portland and will absolutely go again next time we're in town.
Grimmy / EDandTRISH
Touristy expensive, ($9. Beers), but the food was good the service was good the view of the harbor was nice. The duck in her nest was intimating but adorable. 🤓
UPDATE: reportedly mama and babies did leave the nest. The door and deck area are open again.
E Mtz
Very great service and food. Dessert was amazing too.
Jenna was an amazing server!
Tracy Osbahr
Excellent flatbreads with wide variety of locally sourced toppings. Friendly, knowledgeable staff - and good local brews too
Donald Grant
Great flatbread pizza, great staff, and great service. If you're in town and are looking for more than just lobster, check this place out! Hint Hint: the apple crisp is actually homemade!
john paige
I’ve been to both locations in Conway and Portland, pretty much the same great service and the flatbread pizza is consistent and delicious. I would recommend the Cheese, pepperoni and or just ask for the roasted tomatoes. Awesome.
Bradley Green
My wife & I and our two dogs decided to got visit Portland for a long weekend. We had both been to Portland and saw it as a very dog friendly place. We looked up dog friendly restaurants and saw that Flatbread has an outdoor deck where dogs are welcome.
We had an excellent experience! The wait for a table was <10 mins. Our server was friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. We asked him to bring a small plate with plain chicken & cheese for the dogs and they accommodated. We had a fantastic fresh organic salad, two small flatbread pizzas and a whoopee pie w/ice cream for dessert. I had a local cider that was really good. The flatbread pizzas exceeded our expectations for taste and texture.
The atmosphere was great too. Several people came over to visit the dogs including one or two of the staff.
We highly recommend this place and will definitely be going back the next time we are in Portland.
Wayne Cadman
The food is great, it just usually takes a while to get it. The wood ovens are great but limit the speed in which food comes out. Just be prepared to wait, it is worth it! It's also fairly loud when busy.
Melissa Pierpoint
If I could give 10 stars I would. Good food, but absolutely amazing service. Every single staff member was working hard and in harmony. Very impressive. Recommend putting name on wait list as it's a very busy place.
N Curr
Their food has always been exceptional, but stopping by to visit a friend here I am seated at the bar and overheard they are two employees down on a busy holiday afternoon. Watching the composure and calm as they adjust to the added commotion impresses me enough to want to leave a review as I wait for my food. Every flatbread I visit is my favorite, but the view as well as the staff and their professionalism really takes this one to the next level.
Bryan Whitford
Despite its name this restaurant is not making simple flatbread. They are making truly awesome pizza. The experience was so worth it from start to finish. The check-in counter was organized and efficient explaining well the wait procedure. Our wait time ended up being less than the quoted time so that was a pleasant surprise. The menu offers your traditional create-your-own pizzas as well as special pies with traditional pizza sauce and some without. We opted for a classic pepperoni and mushroom pizza with some added caramelized onions. This pizza was truly outstanding with a light and chewy crust, flavorful tomato sauce, and natural ingredients. And of course our server was wonderful giving us some ideas and checking on us frequently. I look forward to my next visit.
Rebecca Turner
Good place for pizza. Lots of options for toppings, wood fired and also kind of cool because you can see the whole preparation process if you're seated near the kitchen. There is also outdoor seating by the water which is nice. Great place to eat between shopping adventures in the area. They don't take reservations, but will add you to a call ahead list and will text you when your table is ready.
Matthieu Cornillon
Really good crust. Super tasty toppings. Had the homemade sausage, community, and Jay’s Heart pies, all fantastic. And get a salad, even just to share: their house salad dressing is knock-your-socks-off delicious. All ingredients well sourced. Very friendly staff. Kids loved it. A home run all around.
Danielle Bresnahan
Delicious pizza. Very food allergy friendly, lots of organic ingredients. Service is very quick, waiters are very friendly.
Loraine Kubiak
We loved this restaurant so much that we went twice during our weekend in Portland. The salads and flatbreads were both incredible and the view is amazing.
Marie-Eve Barrette
Great pizza, fair price & nice vegetarian options. Wait time for takeout is a little long, but definitely worth it.
Ryan Tieva
Awesome food and a fun restaurant. Having the exposed ovens make it fun to watch the chefs at work. The interior is rustic-industrial, with maybe a hippy touch... and it all just works perfectly.
Great location in old port. We would've liked to be seated outside but it was very busy so we took first available.
Our server Chris/Kris ? was awesome and very upbeat. She gave recommendations that did not steer us wrong, my daughter even left her a thank you note written in crayon. Been here before, and we'll be back.
Samreena A
The P.E. is an all time favorite!
Robert Clark
We love this restaurant. Laid back atmosphere with friendly staff. All the ingredients are fresh and the wood burning ovens make the food experience unique and very satisfying. The prices are very reasonable for their generous portions.
Katie Yao
Although the order took a hour to make, the pizza was delicious. Got the pepperoni and mushroom pizza (with the fennel sausage and dried tomato) and glad it wasn’t greasy. A nice thickness that made for crispy crunch
Amy M
Flatbread doesn’t disappoint for fresh salads and tasty oven-fired pizza. They’ve brightened up the interior slightly, which is also nice.
Nathon Horton
Really good pizza. Great taplist with 24 options from within Maine covering all the major breweries. We ate inside but they had a very nice outside seating area with communal tables. There are a ton of great options in this area, but this one is worth a visit.
2022 update: not as many beer options but still has the standards you need from Bissell, MBC, Oxbow and Austin St
robert smith
My only issue is the very uncomfortable chairs. Bench wasn't much better. Don't sit in the chairs if you have low back issues. Also their takeout boxes are way to small for a few slices of the pizza. Otherwise, great food and service. Would recommend.
Julie Moskowitz (Jules)
Great food and reasonable prices. Definitely slightly above $ but not quite $$. However you can taste the difference in the fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
VJ
Wood fire pizza and beer 🍺: great spot to get both with water view. …
Doug Adelmann
Great atmosphere, great food and great service. After a week of nothing but seafood we wanted to change things up. I looked up several pizza places in Portland and this one caught my eye. We did a simple pepperoni and mushroom with no regrets. Dessert was amazing as well. It was raining so we ate inside but their outside seating looked amazing.
Charles Vochatzer
Ended up not waiting the 2 hours and ate st the Irish Pub next door.
Take out takes 75 min.
Smells good.
Pauline Rota
We enjoyed our stay here. It was clean, and very friendly staff. The pool is just beautiful. The restaurant was excellent. The golf course was very nice. Would recommend this hotel!!
Grant M. Bodine
If you have to get anything, give the Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza a try, it was amazing. The food was amazing, as well as the cocktails. The staff were very nice, and friendly. If your looking for a place to chill out on the water out on the deck or if your eating inside its a great experience.
Amjad Talib
Delicious pizza and all around great experience. We really enjoyed relaxed vibe and open oven setting. Even the no-bacon diners amongst us agreed, their bacon is fantastic. We were 2 starved travelers after a long day of hiking and no lunch. 1 salad, 2 small pizzas, and 1 desert hit the spot for us 🎯 …
Mark LoGiurato
Good place to get terrific wood fired pizza in a nice setting.
Christine Keidan
We went in here for a quick cocktail at the bar and a snack. We were fortunate enough To encounter a professional bartender. The specialty cocktails were on point. We ordered one of the flatbread pizzas the simple one it’s just cheese and sauce. Very thin wood fired with black and bits on the crust - excellent bread! I could’ve used a little more tomato sauce but that’s just me. For me, the cocktails really stood out.
Christopher Cote
The pizza was great. The crust was fresh. The sauce was perfect. We had the vegan, pepperoni, and a plain cheese. We also cut up an herb and cheese and ate it like bread sticks. I would certainly go again. Kid friendly.
Shar
Beautiful harbor views, lovely and helpful waitress, quick service, delicious flatbreads and desserts!
Jeff Edmondson
Stellar service, great atmosphere, my pepperoni and mushroom pizza had a crispy side crust, but a soggy and wet base. My mom's BYO pizza also had no cheese, hers was taken off the bill. The salads looked good at other tables.
William Horst
Amazing pizza made with local fresh ingredients. Their tap list is also awesome.
Rebecca Ayers
Always a pleasure when I go to Flatbread!! Mel, one of the bartenders, is fantabulous! Our waitress was super attentive & super sweet! Thanks Flatbread!!
David Goliath
Friendly staff, an abundant beer selection, and superior food makes Flatbread one of Portland’s greatest treasures. I truly love this joint!
Nick Rich
Chicken bacon ranch pizza, need i say more... oh, wait... the beer selection is great.
Kimberly Sandoval
COVID-19 REVIEW: First off expect a 1 hour plus wait time during peak dinner times for outdoor seating on the deck looking out to the water, as it is very limited. If you are okay with indoor seating it was available on the instantly so plan accordingly as they do not take reservations by phone it's first come first served.
We waited the hour for a table of 4 and we're very pleased with our table outside. Our server was very nice and had great beer recommendations. I would say the pizza is only good here if you know what to order!
Highly highly recommend sticking to sausage and pepperoni for meat options and adding onions or/and spinach to pizza you will not regret it. Our waiter made a mistake with one of the two pizzas we ordered and was kind enough to quickly rectify the situation by getting the correct pizza out to us promptly and comping one of the pizzas on the tab.
Overall, food is good and great place to drink beer and watch people coming and going on the docks and boat tours. Great for families that want to share pizza, pricing was reasonable for the area and quality.
Taina Tea
Ryan is great, I don't know if he is still there though, but I do know he is a great light & made my day Everytime I was there. Flatbread has always been my favorite pizza place. I've been all over Maine, nothing yet has beat FB for me personally. The one in Rockport is great too.
James White
Really friendly and helpful staff. Very please with the high quality, fresher food. 👍
Valeria Jesjunina
Really amazing! One of the best pizza’s I’ve ever had! Love the atmosphere, the staff is super nice, great music! ☮️ ❤️🙌🏼☺️ Great job guys! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 …
Brian Smith
One night in town and tried this great place. Had a really delicious P.E. flat bread. Definitely one of the best meals and experiences I've had on vacation. Restaurant sits right in the water and has a great atmosphere and service. Definitely recommend!
Khalid Khan
The decor, the brick oven pizza, the bar ... it's an experience totally worth it
Scott Walter
Great beer list and a fun patio with harbor views in the summer months. Pizzas and salads are unique and tasty
Matt Kelley
Went here based on reviews and recommendations. Great spot and it has an outdoor window to the bar so you can get a drink while you wait.
Our waiter was excellent. We told him we were leaving for Boston the next day and he got another staff member to write down brunch spots for us en route on the drive. That was really above and beyond!
The food was great. I can't give it 5 stars but it was really tasty. Part of the reason for 4 stars is because it lacked variety. There are only about 4 or so pizzas to choose from with red sauce. So pizza was very good but not WOW and the menu is somewhat limited. I'd still recommend it, though! Oh and no reservations makes it difficult to plan when you have kids and large parties.
Elizabeth Wright
I am not a lover of thin crust pizza, but this was one of my top 5 pizzas I have ever had. Friendly atmosphere. Great service. The first place I have ever been to that had a Pilsner beer on tap and it was excellent. To the boss: I was in your establishment Wednesday 8/7 around 1:30 for lunch and the young man working the bar was great. He is a keeper.
Louise Hamlin
Great vegan pizza available! They make a very thin crispy crust in their wood burning brick ovens. Service was fast. They have lots of seating, so we didn't have to wait even though there were 6 of us on Sunday for supper. It's a bit noisy, but wide open and roomy. Nice clean bathroom.
Barbara Giusti
Hosted and Waitress were very friendly. The pizza's delicious, no red sauce, just the right amount cheese and the crust was cooked to perfection! We ordered the sausage pizza. ** didn't care for the fruit flies 🤔 …
Abby Johnson
My best friends and I have been going here for at least 5 years, if not more. They do not take reservations, so always best to arrive sooner than you'd think. Staff is friendly and laid back; food is excellent. Some of the best thin-crust pizza in the country. Outdoor seating is always a little quieter but indoor has a great atmosphere, too. Extensive local beer selection a plus, too.
Patricia Falvo Held
Just enjoyed pizza in Naples, Italy and have to say these pizzas are creative and different and just amazing. Been eating here 10+ years and it rivals eventide, central provisions, and fore street as best food in Portland. IMHO.
Maegan Porpora
Great place for a group! We went here to start off a bachelorette party. Three pizzas and a salad was perfect for our group of 10 (along with drinks of course). Nice atmosphere and great views of the harbor.
Charlene Garcia
Had the community pizza and it was delicious. Great service, too! Would come back again!
Renee Captor
Great pizza! We wandered in to grab a quick bite while waiting for the ferry. Our expectation was typical mediocre at best tourist fare. We were very pleasantly surprised! The pizza was perfectly baked, with a thin crisp crust, a fresh sauce, just the right amount of cheese, and outstanding pepperoni. Delicious!
Nick Nelsonwood
Amazing pizza! They use lots of local ingredients and everything always tastes fresh. Their seaweed salad is a great way to start your meal. The view is fun as you get to watch the ferries come and go.
Country Peach
Super delicious pizza! The crust was full of flavor, which I find rare for pizza places. I also got a brownie sundae to go, because I couldn't resist, and it was equally as amazing. The staff was very friendly and we were seated right away, even though it was peak lunch hour.
odiejlg
Very cool atmosphere, with the back deck having great views. The pizza was very good also.
Caroline Connell
Pizza was a little greasy, but it tasted great!! View was amazing! Crowd noise wasn't too bad for a busy time of day. Waitstaff were friendly and you should always check out the specials! For two of us, we split a small pizza, a beautiful and tasty arugala salad with goat cheese and wild blueberries, and a brownie sundae. If you are a healthy eater, you could easily get full on that.
Chase Olson
The pemberton flatbread and the harvest flatbread were SO delicious. Nice people too.
Paul Furlow
Really really quality flavorful fresh pizza (it's pizza). Rustic dockside setting with plenty of space. Live acoustic singer was awesome. Great service. Perfect for kids or larger groups. Drink list is stellar and the view is very pleasing.
Fred Fridman
We had made a custom salad with roasted red peppers, kalamata olives and goat cheese and had one of the small flat breads - more than enough for 2!
Wil Greene
Absolutely super! Dining inside or on the dock & Super Pizza cooked in a wood fired oven & unique salads. Great service & atmosphere. Can't recommend it highly enough. A unique experience!
Angelo M
Great flatbread pizza. The best service in town.
Gautier Paux
We love Flatbread! We've been to many different Flatbread places in New England and the pizzas are always very tasty. The dough is really good and the pizza ingredients are too notch! My favorite is the pepperoni one! Portland's restaurant is well located and as always the atmosphere is really nice! The deck is great although we would not enjoy it due to bad weather when we visited.
Charlotte McClure
I rarely find restaurants worth their wait times. Flatbread is a notable exception, and I never mind waiting 30-60 minutes for a table.
The atmosphere and service is always so uplifting and lively - you feel like you're instantly among a huge group of friends. But even more than that, the pizza is incredible! Whether you go with a classic or one of their seasonal specials, you won't be disappointed. Solid beer and dessert choices to boot.
Gabby Ruf McAuliffe
Awesome space with good, fresh ingredients. Service was a bit slow, but other than that, we enjoyed our flatbread (nice hangover food).
Matthew Bowden
Good food, friendly staff. Reccomend outdoor seating for a great view of the harbor.
Mark Carr
I go to their Burlington MA restaurant all the time, but this one is my favorite because in addition to fantastic food, you can sit by the water and enjoy a five-star view. Love their salads, and the pizzas are really fabulous.
Alexander McClung
Nice atmosphere, view of the pier, great beers on tap, and the pizza is great too!
Kasey Ahlquist
My whole family loves this place. My three year gets really excited about the fire oven. The pizza is phenomenal. Nice thin, crispy crust and lots of local ingredients. And you can't beat the view. They have an outdoor bar that makes the wait just as fun as dinner!
Brock N
Always a hit. The Carne special is my go-to almost every time regardless of what's on it. They do a fantastic job
Jag Amitaba
Great Pizza. Great atmosphere in Portland.!
Aaron
Really enjoyed the environment, food, and prices. Great spot to enjoy a beer and some bread.
Kaitlin M
Really great, casual spot. I've been here a few times and the pizzas, salads, and beer selections are awesome. They have coloring materials for kids, the brick ovens are always raring to go, and the pizza dough is super crisp and wonderful. Crowded, so be prepared to wait if you go on a Thursday/Friday/Saturday night--it is not a *hidden* gem in that regard. They have outdoor seating that overlooks the harbor which is nice during the warm months.
Alex
Great pizza all around, no complaints. don't know what id order different next time.
Caroline DiNicola Fawley
I eat here all the time. This is by far the best GF Vegan Pizza I’ve ever had. The crust is amazing, and there is so much flavor In the toppings. The staff is so kind and accommodating. The most noticeable experience happened tonight when my car died out front. I had been asking around for a jump, and the hostess (Tasha) offered to jump me. She spent over half an our with me in the cold figuring out how to connect the cables, and finally got my car going! Then, who I assume to be the manager met me out back to ask if I was hungry (it was late and I had just finished a 3 hour commute so I was very tempted) I told her I was okay so instead she gave me a certificate for a free pizza. I wasn’t even a customer that night and I was met with 5 star hospitality. The food: A+ the service: A++. I will be going frequently! Thank you Flatbread team for saving my butt!
Rob Seal
Great pizza down by the docks. Our server was very easygoing and smart about helping our kids feel comfortable, too.
Kristi Sarchi
I ordered the house salad and when I mentioned the specialty salad with beets sounded good to the waitress suggested I add beets to my house. Fantastic! The waitress was commenting that not much had changed over the years but I did notice the pepperoni had changed. But seems more traditional now than it used to. Heavy pepperoni and mushroom pizza. It was fantastic. Wait staff is friendly and helpful and the view cannot be beaten
Dianne Roberts
We love Portland Flatbread Company! All the food is great, from the crisp, fresh salads to the amazingly creative and delicious pizzas! Twice this week we visited with a large group, most of whom were from out of town, and the very pleasant hosts found ways to quickly seat our party of ten and the wait staff was always fun, friendly and capable. The “waitlist texting method” worked really well; we were able to sightsee nearby until our table was ready. We highly recommend it.
Dianne
Eileen Clark
Flatbreads is one of our favorite places! Great old building on the waterfront. Relaxed atmosphere. Fantastic pizza and salads! Everything we've ever ordered has been wonderful! The brownie sundae is a tasty treat if you have room!
Alexander Kirchberg
The food was delicious! This would be a five star review but we were almost done eating by the time our coffee came that we ordered when sitting down. But if you want pizza, eat here!
Nicole M. C.
ASK FOR COURTNEY! After our friends’ wedding, the bride and groom and our very small group had an outdoor dinner here. Our waitress, Courtney, was the most incredible server I have ever had. She went out of her way, and above and beyond to accommodate our requests and took it upon herself to guarantee the bride and groom had the best time. She found candles to set on the table, snagged a vase with flowers from the outside decor to place on their table, she joked with us and was just so genuinely dedicated to ensuring our friends had an amazing evening. The food is great, of course, but Courtney’s attentiveness, creativity, and kind demeanor left us saying repeatedly, “she is just AMAZING.” All-star service from a server who deserves the best.
Mark D
Great Pies. Great salads. Great Quality ingridients. Awesome beer selection. This is one of those micro chains. I've personally been to 4 of their locations in New England. Very Kid friendly awesome location in Portland. Fairly Pricey for a pizza joint, but at least the ingredients warrant the price. Waits can be long on the weekends. Many times we've wanted to go but weren't prepared to wait with the kiddos for 40 minutes.
Jessica Gizinski
Servers here are really great. They have outdoor seating right on a dock on the water. Fresh organic local salad that was great. Pizza was amazing and they let you add and alter as you wish. Ended up getting a half and half pizza. They have local blueberry soda as well.
Michelle Marold
This place is great!! the atmosphere is very chill. happy welcoming place. We loved the house made Chicken ranch salad and the flay bread pizza. Nick our server was great. professional.
matthew hansen
Didnt take any food pics on my phone, but oh my it was amazing! Highly recommend!!
Sarah Barrett
We always have a great time at Flatbread! The pizza is great and the salads are too! However, I'm giving them a 3 star rating this time because we ordered delivery and our salad came without any goat cheese even though I specifically ordered it. It was disappointing.
LESLIE “MAXAMILLION” CRAINE
The staff was excellent. They took great detail on making sure that the order was taken correctly and then served properly. The price of the pizza reflected it's quality immensely.
Kinley Ellis
The pizza is soooo good.
James Beswick
The vegan pizza - just so much win right there. They have a large wood-fired oven so the pizza crust is just amazing. One large pizza, two drinks and tip came out to under $30 so definitely no complaints from my side. The service was fast, friendly and enthusiastic. If you get the right table, you can also enjoy a great view across the boats and harbor.
KP Patel
The people at the restaurant gave us our food quickly and efficiently and it was delicious. A customer even forgot their jacket and an employee (Joseline, who was awesome.) ran a block out of the restaurant to return it. In all, this is a great place to eat if you want authentic and unique pizza in a quick time with an outstanding service.
Noam Lautman
We had a great time with our server, Courtney. She was extremely attentive to all of our needs and felt like a member of our own party. She went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. The food was delicious, but service like Courtney’s is the reason we will continue to come back.
Chris Douglas
Great family place for wood fired pizza. Good service and great food. If your very lucky you can get a waterview seat or the deck on a warm day. May through September you will probably wait 20-30 minutes for seating. Full bar. Adequate restrooms.
Tracy Soltesz
Wow, local friends took us to dinner here. It was amazing. Everyone at our table devoured our flatbreads, they were so delicious. Great local selection on tap. The outside seating is beautiful and service really friendly. Even our kids loved it.
Sarah Cooper
This place is great everytime we go! Great relaxed environment and you can watch them cook the flatbreads!
Thomas Lyons
What a great place in Portland for some true wood-fired from scratch flatbread pizza!
Michael Szymkowski
Amazing food, great staff and a pretty decent beer selection. We always stop here when we're in Portland.
Michael Lynch
Call ahead if you are going for dinner after 5:30. Great pizza, rotating specials bring rare treats. Great tap list and friendly service. Not the speediest restaurant but everything is made from scratch by hand and is amazing so it's worth the wait. If you're visiting Portland this is the place to go.
patty depaola
Had the mobile oven for a wedding welcome party. The food was awesome and the staff was great. They made pizza's for 3 hours and were entertaining to our guests. Served 75 people with no problem.
A great evening and they did a great job!
Jexie Youssef
This is not your typical pizza place, in a good way! We got a front row seat right next to the brick oven and got to see the entire pizza making process. The end product was delicious. They offer unique flavors and topping combinations. You won't be disappointed with whatever you order!
Nabeel Khan
Situated next to the dock.. This place was overflowing with people but still managed to keep everyone satiated. The hostesses were helpful and nice and allowed me to sample the drink before ordering. People with smiling faces and some with their dogs were gracing the patio. I liked some of the meat breads wasn't too sure about the vegan ones. The salad was nice with the sauce only. But would love to go here again.
John Hoshi
One of the best dining outlets I've been to in the coast, it has a nice view of the marina while also having a classic old maine coastal feel. It's hard to put to words how great it is, the food is great, the waitress was nice, and the overall aesthetic was great too. I give is a 4 star and not a 5 largely because the seats were a little uncomfortable and the tables were a little small, but again that is part of the aesthetic, so I dont mean to be too picky. Overall, great place, I will go again and I'd highly recommend!
Justin
Awesome wood fire pizza. Always have to go to a Flatbread when we travel to New England.
Kevin Miller
Love the food, beer and atmosphere here although it's a bit dark in there at night its no big deal. Never had a bad pizza here. But they do cut them in like 3" strips. Never really understood that but hey, its still pizza and they're doing a great job here!
Kiff Allen
Thin crust brick oven pizza-. What's not to like? Windows in this venue add a lot of charm and character. Service is quick. While the everyday menu is yummy enough, their seasonal/holiday/general specials are as tasty as they are creative.
David N.
Delicious pizza and wonderful ambiance. We arrived during peak dining hours, yet we were seated right away and received attentive and prompt service. The next time I find myself in Portland I will be sure to dine here again.
Sean Mokler
Always amazing! Great beer selection with some interesting taps. Fantastic house salad I strongly recommend adding goat cheese to. Every pie is deliciously cooked with fresh toppings. The best brownie sunday anywhere.
Chris Bird
2nd time here after more than 5 years and it’s just as amazing as ever.
The food alone is outstanding. With a group of 8, including 4 kids, everyone was satisfied. Quality ingredients on all of their pizzas and salads.
And the beer...whoa...awesome local Maine selection of delicious and widely varied beers.
To top it off - the staff is super friendly and patient with all the busyness that comes with such a popular spot.
Flatbread lives up to its history and reputation. We’ll be back!
Gerry Doyon
It was our first time here and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food and service was great and the decor and very close proximity to the ocean was amazing! We'll come again.
sam tarbox
I stopped in with a group of 5 gentlemen on a late Saturday afternoon. We were seated, served drinks and ordered very quickly. I soon discovered my new favorite flat bread. It was made Greek style and was tasty.
Good selection of beers is worth mentioning.
The restaurant filled quickly after we were served. Get their early or you'll certainly be stuck waiting. However the food is good and worth waiting if you have the time.
Ryan Barr
Great pizza and awesome brownie sundaes! Gets very busy (sign of a good restaurant), which can sometime lead to servers getting stretch a little thin. Otherwise, almost always have a great meal here. Good place for those with kiddos too.
Pat Cotnoir
The service was great. The pizza was excellent! We had a nice table looking over the water.
Brad “bbb1999”
This is my favorite pizza place in Portland. It is great think crust style. My favorite thing is just a make your own pepperoni and fennel sausage. They also have very good and creative pizzas for their weekly specials. One I thought was awesome was a cheeseburger pizza. Tasted like a deconstructed burger.
Karen Gee
Great pizza, cocktails, and atmosphere!
Jay FitzGerald
The food was awesome and takeout was super quick. Fed 3 kids and 2 adults with a large pizza and salad with leftovers. Highly recommended and can’t wait to order again.
Kristin Soule
Flatbread is always a good time. Good beer, good pizza. Jay's heart is one of my favorites, bit honestly you can't go wrong. Locally sourced ingredients, great vibe and kid friendly. Highly recommend. Oh and they have gluten free options as well!
Rob R
Pizza was amazing! And the chilled homemade lemon tea was refreshing on the hot day.
Alyssa Shirk
Great pizza. We sat at the bar to get faster service because of the wait. Has outside seating that allows pets. If you are extra sensitive to spicy do not get the peperoni. I had to pick it off it was too spicy for me. We also paid to have rosemary added to it and we couldn't even see it let alone taste it. But other than that it was good. Also Long Island Ice Tea made by the short haired female is very strong.
Victoria Alles
The gluten-free crust was amazing but at $5 extra and the toppings being mediocre (under-seasoned and tomato sauce unimpressive), the overall feeling we left with was "not worth the hype." The hostess was very engaging and helpful with giving recommendations for dietary restrictions. You do get a view of the wharf and a fire if those are important to you. The vegan/gf brownie was also delightful.
Vincenzo Aceto
Amazing food all organic ingredients. Lots of options for all diets and food allergies. Amazing beer, great service.
Haasenstein
Usually a 4-5 star place, however our young waiter seemed alouf and stuck on himself as opposed to making sure our order was being prepared. 2 simple organic salads came fairly quickly, but waited 50+ minutes for a small pizza. Should have been made with salads within 20 minutes max. 1-2 star this particular visit and would never have that waiter again.
Serena P. Franks
Perfect pizza and outdoor seating is fun!
Marit Ivory
Excellent flatbreads. You can tell the ingredients are quality. Wide beer selection. Small patio.
James Stewart
Great ambiance and water views and delicious wood fired pizza and salad. Great local draft selections. Great place for families too. Been to Portland and North Conway locations but prefer Portland’s. Giant brownie with ice cream was scrumptious.
MARK PEZZOPANE
The menu is limited to salads, pizzas and desserts. If you like your salads and pizzas with organic ingredients, this is the place for you. The pizza is delicious, the service is prompt and the wait staff courteous. The beautiful view of the Portland harbor didn't hurt, either. I give this a thumbs up!
Peter Loesch
Great beer list and of course delicious flatbreads!
David Scott
After taking the ferry we were looking for a quick bite to eat and stumbled upon this place. They have some really good pizza. We had the margherita flatbread and it was loaded with garlic. It tasted great. You can watch them bake it in the wood ovens. There's good views of the water. They also have stuff for kids to color. I would recommend this for a good quick lunch.
Madi Bumann
Great pizza, atmosphere and service. Outdoor chairs are uncomfortable tho
Steven Swigart
Dough has great texture and consistency, fresh and great tasting home made ingredients. Very impressed.
Kevin Coleman
My family and I ate here for the first time. It was fantastic! The waiter was polite and the food was delicious. The decor was nice. In this era of COVID, it is vital to support local businesses like Flatbread to show our gratitude.
Stefanie Wozniak
Excellent pizza and the patio ambiance is great! Cocktails were not that good, but the beer and food were terrific! Friendly staff and it can get busy so get your name on the texting waitlist
Meredith Lowden
While stopping through Portland on the way home from Acadia a friend recommended to eat here. It was great! Such fresh ingredients and a great beer selection. Definitely a popular spot during the summer months while Portland is booming, but worth any wait. I have recommended this to several other people and they have loved it as well!
Mackenzie
This was a perfect dinner spot! We waited 45 minutes, but after we gave our number to the hostess, we were able to walk around until they texted us.
Pros
-Pizza was delicious
-kids enjoyed it
Cons
-If you are in a hurry, it isn’t the best place

We moved to Portland from Atlanta seven months ago and are very proud Mainers.
Prior to moving here, on our frequent and many trips to Maine over several years- one of our must go to fave restaurants was Flatbread Co.
Now that we live here- the delicious fare and excellent service are easy for us to enjoy.
Here's the go to place to chill and enjoy great pizza, salads and sinful desserts and a fabulous selection of local and top notch beer. Cool view of the water and ambience and the service is great- we are in Maine- you would expect great service in our great State.
Tom and his team make it an enjoyable experience!
Mike Devore
Oven-fired pizza. This is thin crust pizza and the tasty dough cooks into a cracker, which is exactly how we like our pizza. Wait staff made it easy to understand how to choose the toppings.
Andrew Glasgow
Had a fantastic vegitarian pizza option off the specials list. While breaking bread with a new friend. The pizza was exceptionally good, and came very quickly, especially considering how packed they were.
A bit noisy, but overall great experience.
Brigitte Whiteside
Salad of the day was different and very tasty. And the Pizza must be one one of the best I've eaten until now. Real friendly, natural and not 'overwhelming'. Apart from that an original place and good music.
Denise Chick
We had waited an hour and 15 minutes for our food which was unusual. The restaurant mgr gave us our meals free for being so patient. The food was very good. I love this place and I come everytime I visit my sister. It is pricey
Blake Burman
Fairly good pizza ( for thin crust that is) great dessert (the brownies Sunday is delicious), and a nice location. The only problems I have with the restaurant is the shared seating outside and the fact that the place screams "hipster" and has a very hipster like environment. Tourists (the majority of their customers) don't want that agenda pushed on them.
Kelly Duarte
Excellent food and atmosphere. Great location on Portland's waterfront. Always a good time and one of my fave Portland restaurants. Pepperoni and mushroom pizza always excellent. Also, the daily pizza special's are worth a try too.
Kenneth DeLorm
We visited just after the lunch hour and chose to eat outside on the deck overlooking the wharf as we had our 2 Bernese Mountain Dogs with us. Definitely dog friendly - brought a filled water dish for the dogs. Great choices for flatbread pizza, along with a build you own. Beer, wine, etc are available including many local and craft beers. Appetizers, salads, and sandwiches are also available. Reasonable prices and courteous, professional service. Handicap accessible. Family friendly.
Michael Powell
What a great place! The flatbread I got was really fantastic. Double wood fired ovens add so much to the great atmosphere. A must on your list.
Simon Liszka
Everything tasted fresh and the quality of everything was above what my fiancé and I expected! We will be stopping here every time we go through Old Port. This is probably some of the best flatbread pizza I have had and I’d recommend this place to anyone!
Joe Eragitano
Flatbreads is our favorite place for pizza and ambiance. Love watching them prepare our pizza. Great service and Great Pizza. Always bring new people there, that is how sure we are that our guests will like Flatbreads. So far 10 for 10.
Yummy.
Chad Rankin
Phenomenal restaurant. I love watching the food being prepped (they have an open kitchen) and the 80'e music makes this cozy restaurant feel like a great place to kick back with your friends and hang out. Oh! And the servers are AMAZING. Seriously. Tip them well because they work hard to ensure that you're happy with your visit. I appreciate the effort my server made to deal with my particular coffee requests. 😀
Bretton Wolff
Great pizza. Nice comfortable feeling. Good place to eat outside
Paulo Rodrigues
Excellent local restaurant that strives for local and organic ingredients. Half the table had a salad (highly recommend the steak salad) while the other half had a flat bread. The breads were also very savory, made in the oven right in the middle of the restaurant.
Busy crowd at 6pm on a Tuesday. Had to wait a bit before being seated.
Nancy Fedoce
The pizza was excellent. Wood fired. It was very casual, and a cool vibe. We loved our server Tim!!! He made our experience that much better. We we're stopping through Portland on way back to Boston. We can't wait to come back.
William Foster
Really surprising good food , nice interior and outside seating, good hospitality, nice beer selection to compliment the food
Douglas Johnson
Second time eating here. Fantastic food. Busy day and they slid the pizza out a little too fast. Mike made it right though, gave me the goofy one and had a brand new one re made to take home with us. Go eat here!
Joel Bolton
Outstanding flatbread pizza with great combinations of the local and organic ingredients. All baked in a wood-fired oven before your eyes. Salads are equally delicious. Casual dining right on the waterfront. Friendly staff. Nice bar too, including excellent local beer such as Bissell Brothers.
Amanda Graham
Delicious! Has lots of choices for vegans and vegetarians. The waitress handled our huge party capably and efficiently. Thin and crispy pizza was a huge hit with all of us.
Daniel Culbert
The flatbreads were amazing and reasonably priced. The bar was being renovated and they didn't have any beers on tap only bottles or cans. The only other issue I had is no kid's menu. I was there with my 3 year old nephew and could have used some simple options for him.
Alexandra Hitchcock
Could taste the great quality ingredients in both the pizza and salad, all the flavours popped. Band was fabulous and added to the atmosphere. My partner and I really enjoyed it xx
Elizabeth Ford
Small, limited menu, but all the pizzas are delicious and also gluten free friendly. Great mixed drinks that you can get from a drive thru type window while you wait outside, definitely have to have to try the blueberry lemonade!
Madison
Amazing service and great food. Loved the flatbread and dessert. Didn't get salad but looked amazing. 10/10 would recommend.
Sean Duffy
The pizza here is so good. The cheeseburger pizza was one of the best I've ever had. We can't wait to go back and try many more things! The only thing we wish they had was more of a selection of appetizers.
Ewing Fox
Excellent ambiance. Parking is a challenge but once you find a spot, take the time to enjoy dinner and a walk around the working Port. Only ordering suggestion, keep it simple. Some of their pizzas get a bit complicated and lose a bit of the magic.
Eric Hamlin
Nice place for wood-fired pizza on Portland's working waterfront. Open space with views of the water and a pair of large pizza ovens. Family friendly, and kids enjoy watching the folks work the wood fired ovens. Variety of seating options including tables, booths, and bar seating.
Pamela Price Wharff
Flatbread has a great casual, cozy dining atmosphere. The wait staff were all very friendly and we were amazed that our waitress took our order, did not write it down and all orders came to the table perfectly accurate! We arrived early...around 4:30, so we got a table inmediately, but this place gets super busy later.
Preston Warden
We used to go every week in 2018. They started going down hill in October so we figured it was off-season blues. We went back today 3/3 and they haven't gotten better, probably worse.
We ordered both the vegetable and carne specials and ordered vodka cranberry drinks. The girl is the same we always manage to get. She never writes things down but always forgets what you order. We told her vodka, cranberry, lime. She came back and said she put soda water in it (disgusting).
Plus we asked to add sausage to our flat bread and specified twice that we wanted to 'add" the sausage. We received sausage in lieu of Hamburg. Just aggravating is all. We loved this place in 2018, not sure we will go back in 2019.
Nathaniel Pendleton
Flatbread will always have a special place in my heart. The best pizza I ever had before I discovered the joys of New Haven pizza, it's got a great vibe, wonderful maple lemonade and a good beer selection, outdoor seating on the water, and a brownie desert to die for. Whatever pizza you get, make sure to throw some of that maple-fennel sausage on!
Friendsy Farm
Great location on the harbor, laid back atmosphere, friendly staff. I always start with the goat cheese salad (so refreshing!) and inevitably share a flat bread pizza with friends. Daily specials are excellent.
Sam Frederick
A Portland classic for locally sourced wood-fire pizza. Fresh ingredients, and a great rotating specials menu. My personal favorites are the Jay's Heart, as well as Jimmy's Free Range Chicken. The goat cheese salad is a must, the seaweed is a great touch and the house made dressing is a perfect compliment to the greens. Very busy and does not take reservations, so it's best to go on an off hour.
Shaili Patel
This place serves some of the best pizzas and cocktails I have ever had! The service and the location are fantastic too. Would definitely come back when in Portland again!
Daria K
Great atmosphere! Large space, great for groups. Drinks are good and food is delicious using local products. I just wish they had apps or small plates on their menu!
Jackson Pineau
Great pizza, great service, and an amazing view of the harbor!
Josh Haley
Hit or miss. Sometimes it's great. Other times I think the kitchen staff has had it with the tourists and makes it their mission to make them not want to come back. Either way, it's still too 3 pizza places in Portland for me.
Aaron Womack
Vegans beware: Both my wife and I got sick. We will definitely not be returning ever again. It was the only meal we had in common today, so there's no other culprit. If you're not vegan, I'm sure you'll love it. They probably have some cross contamination issues or just don't vet ingredients with enough care.
Mason Howell
The pizza is amazing! They're vegan friendly, have great service, and are so nice! The desserts are amazing and the view is lovely, if your in Portland go here! You won't regret it
Natasha Sheehy
I love this place. The menu is always seasonal. There's a great beer selection. The staff are friendly and helpful. And the pizza always arrives out super hot and quickly too.
Paul McAvoy
Always a great time when going to Flatbread. We took our dog (7lb Yorkie) and they let us eat outside on the deck (great view of the port, picture attached). Ordered the organic salad with goat cheese and it was amazing. For pizza got the Community Flatbread was also very good.
Rory McDougal
Good flatbread pizza with lots of interesting options, big spaces for large parties, and very kid friendly. Outside seating overlooking the water, this is often shared seating. Excellent drink menu, and an outside window to the bar to order drinks while you are waiting.
Kelly Austin
Best pizza! You can taste the freshness of all the ingredients they use and it's in a cute location and fun restaurant atmosphere as well. This place is not to be missed!
Jay Barriss
been in ME for 8 years and never been there. GREAT SPOT. outdoor dining available, pizza was great. solid friendly staff.
Christian Overton
The food is outstanding, the service is great and there is a wide variety of choices and interesting dishes. If you're in Portland Maine you have to stop by here. A great place to get pizza to take out on your ferry ride over to the islands.
Octobers World
Ordered different pizzas for take out. Jay’s Heart with sausage was EXCELLENT. Jay’s Heart with pepperoni was good. Jay’s Heart plain wasn’t that great 🙁 Punctuated Equilibrium was delicious. Jimmy’s Free-Range Chicken was THE BEST …
DaveIn NH
Great pizza every time. The Portland location has a deck that sits right on the water. Staff is always pleasant and the food is always good. Extensive tap list of local craft beers.
Jennifer Davies
Considering it is filled with locals and out of towners, great atmosphere! Wonderful beer selection and delicious food! Our bartender, James, was a delight. Very laid-back yet informative. Very genuine. I would definitely go back as well as recommend it.
Gururajan Krishna
We were visiting Portland,Maine yesterday and found this gem . Nice, cozy waterfront Restraunt with great ambience and beautiful view of the harbour . Staff are very courtious, friendly. Tried their vegan varities Their flat bread pizzas are great. Would have given 5* but for a small observation - one of our pizzas had very little toppings on one half of it's crust.
Russell Sprague
Flatbread is not the best pizza around, but it is the best flatbread. I have never had anything there I didn't like, and make sure you leave room for dessert! The waits can be long, especially on the weekends, and it is a very noisy place when it is busy.
William Church
My grandkids love this place. What more can I say. Good pizza. fast service. nice view of water. clean and reasonable price and it is in Portland. There is better pizza in portland but not with the view, and seating and on the water.
Izzy Diamond
Love flatbread. Great vegan options. Ate it all.
Brian Shilling
This place is 'gangster' in a good way. A colleague and I were traveling for work and found this gem. I had one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten and I have traveled extensively for years. This will be a pitstop on future trips for sure. Next time we will partake in the local spirits offered!
KAIZ3R53
Plenty of great views from any seat in the restaurant! You could be beside the fire, looking at it from across the room or out on the deck over looking the bay. Flatbread and Salad specials every Friday thruout the week. Amazing ingredients and gluten free crust available. Accomodations for benefits and reservations exceeding 10 people. Could be a wait (30min+) for your table, high top or booth but the Flatbread menu and local wine and beer collection will out weigh showing up at any busy time of day. All said and done, the delicious desserts and the warm atmosphere would make your meal if the wood fired stone ovens already hadn't.
Brett Miller
This was my first visit to Flatbread, it was enjoyable! The service was very good and the pizza was delicious! It's a super casual place with a good vibe. There's not much besides pizza and salad on the menu, but pizza is their thing!
Lauren Garrard
Though Flatbread already has 500+ great reviews (!!) I want to give a shoutout and say that the Portland Flatbread has been, without a doubt, my favorite pizza place since I was a kid. Always a great experience. I just recently visited with a big group of 7 for a birthday and our waiter Brian was SO sweet - patient, funny, and kind. He even brought out a brownie sundae with a candle & sang for the birthday boy without us having to pull him aside and ask. Give this guy a raise.
Jess Schwartz
such a great pizza spot! everything is cooked in the main dining room and the atmosphere is so busy and friendly! All the beers were local maine beers and they source tons of local and organic produce!
Jessica Simpson
Love this place, especially their white pizzas. Love how they support the community with fundraisers and use locally sourced good food. Good salads too.
Catherine Gonet
My friend and I had a wonderful table outside. Pizza delicious. Waitress nice. My friend's 1st visit. She said she will definitely return soon.
John Orzechowski
Fantastic pizza, great location. Watch out for parking there are affordsble spots you just have to find them in the area. Great pizza spot
Bob Meyers
Nice casual spot with creative and delicious pizzas and salads. Speedy and friendly service when we were there on a busy Friday night.
crazyjdkid
Waiter was a bit lackluster. Visited our table once over a span of about 50 minutes. Drinks remained unfilled and was not updated on progress of the food, especially after seeing numerous flatbreads catching fire and disposed of. Had to ask for straws, refills and the check. Although she seemed to be attentive to the table next to ours, but ours was simply ignored. The hardest working people in the restaurant are the younger girl and guy who check, cut and bring out the flatbreads. The food was good but the service ruined the experience.
Alexandra Lynch
The service is great, the food is amazing, and the atmosphere is cozy. I love how the kitchen is open and you can see the chefs cooking the food. They really put an effort into using local ingredients. Flatbread is a family favorite.
damon herbel
Yummy pizzas. Good beer.
Josh Gaylord
Great atmosphere, small flat bread is plenty for two people, too much for one as well but there's a guy across the street in front of the starbucks that prefers mushroom, if you're feeling altruistic. Guy at the bar was full of knowledge about their local breweries and distilleries. I had the wiggle fingers? bourbon, and it was one of the best I've ever had.
K Strzelecki
The atmosphere is way better than the food.. The pizza was OK but that’s it there is definitely much better pizza around here. They really need to get a margarita pizza on the menu also, very surprising that they do not have one and do not carry the fresh mozzarella to make it.
C Bas
I have been here twice. Once with children. Service is good when they are not too busy. A bit slow when they are packed, which is often. Nice view of the boats on the piers. PFD fire boat parked next door is awesome.
Eric Pyne
Had to wait for an hour outside in the cold for mediocre "flatbread", as they call it. Its pizza. Thin, tasteless, over-priced pizza. Everything is made to order and the alcoholic drink list is decent. That's why the 3 stars.
Gerry T
Always good. We go regularly. Excellent natural pizza, salads, local beer, killer desserts. All in a big rustic dining room on the Portland waterfront.
Angela VC
we love going here as a family for dinner, their food is AMAZING. oh personal favorite is the community (in our case the Somerville community) with added goat cheese. another nice thing about the Summerville flatbread location is that they have placed to bowl (candlepin style). The bowling alleys at usually all in use when we arrive, but it is all ways a nice surprise when on is open and we are able to bowl. flatbread has a very nice atmosphere. it will get rather loud, but not unpleasantly loud. The staff are all very nice and approachable, and obviously love their job. The one down side is flatbread does get rather crowded in the evening, but that's just more proof that their food is delicious!
Sara Furbz
Pizzas were delicious and staff was super friendly and attentive. Really cool atmosphere too. Great for families or just solo bar drinking.
So Sun
Legit some of the best pizza I’ve ever had, especially that goat cheese and pineapple one. This place is a must come, legendary pizza.
CFI James Parks
Understaffed, over taste, open atmosphere especially towards the wharf
Steve
I’m from the New York area and this made my VERY short list of the top 5 pizza I’ve ever had. Atmosphere is awesome, and the pizza is out of this world. You NEED to eat here if going through the Portland area.
Katrina Shaffer
Good pizza but service can be slow. The view makes up for the wait.
Lynn Smith
The food was fantastic. The ambiance was wonderfully fun. The food was outstanding. Try not to miss the apple crisp yum. The service was also very efficient and the server was very friendly. The view was incredible and the entire experience was really lovely.
Connor Baird
Excellent pizza! The service was great! The atmosphere was very unique and fun. The beer selection was good and the wine was delicious.
Seth K
This place is very good the fairly plan pizza we had was shockingly great
David Lefkowitz
This restaurant has awesome pizza. The add-ons are fresh and delicious. The dough is thin and awesome. Definitely have a meal here. Ourson is the best bartender in Portland.
Rocket Hart
Pretty decent on drink price, food is a bit expensive and the gluten free pizza isn't as good as Otto's but at least I can drink here. If your not gluten free though this place is bomb, they also make sure to let you know about allergies and what not
Lucas Morrill
Make a reservation on the busy nights or you'll wait a while, but it's worth it. The Flatbread pizzas are delicious and we had some added entertainment of watching them shovel these pizzas in and out of the wood fire ovens.
Alecia Wenslow
I love eating here. My husband and I go here whenever I can convince him to. When my dad and uncle were visiting from out of state, I made sure to bring them to Flatbread Company for lunch. They have delicious desserts and salads. I always get the maple lemonade to drink because it is so yummy.
Jeff Neuman
Terrific food, beverages and service along with great ambiance. We go every year on our way North. Also, we left a jacket by accident, and the staff mailed it to us in NJ...no charge. The folks that work here are just good people and represent Portland well.
Tom Long
Good vegan options and great ingredients that leave you feeling happily full and not bloated. Recommend as dining choice when not in a rush.
Lauren Sterling
Loved the atmosphere, live Bluegrass music and wonderful flatbread pizza.
Kas Waldron
I love going to this place! The inside is so warm and inviting and the food is so yummy! I've taken my family here on multiple occasions and they've loved it!
Michael Tarbell
Excellent Pizza! I am not a big pizza fan, but this was really good! And in a very trendy part of Portland. There is something for everyone in that area. Would definitely go again!
Chad Rankin
The server was incredibly courteous and the service was fast. The whole place has a cozy feel; with a real crackling fireplace. The flatbreads are fantastic. I essentially received a flatbread pizza, and I truly wasn't expecting such powerful flavor out of pizza. It was like the cavier of pizza flatbread. Anyway, I highly recommend the place if you're in Portland, Maine. The staff is friendly, it's very low-key, an excellent place to just sit down with a friend and talk over dinner. Oh, and they had 80's music playing most of the time. Kudos for that 😉
Colin Vorbach
The chicken bacon ranch pizza is fabulous, with awesome gluten free options! Our server Mike was super helpful and gave superb service!
Mimi F
Unfortunately I didn’t take photos here because I was so outrageously excited for my food.
I grew up going to flatbread co in Amesbury, went consistently to the Portland location all through college and revisited this week. I will tell you their food has no changed at all in the past 12 years! The casco bay with pepperoni is my favorite but they allow you to customize any pizza!
The ginger salad dressing is delicious too and perfect for dipping he crust!
I would I give Flatbread Co Portland 5 stars for the food and an extra star for a great atmosphere and location.
Greg Travassos
Maybe I just didn't experience the whole thing since we took it to go, but my wife and I ate here and thought the flatbreads were good but nothing special. She ordered a flatbread with a gluten-free crust and the crust was very good. However the flatbreads needed a little more sauce and they put too many pepperonis on our flatbread that it overpowered it. It all tasted good but it wasn't amazing. The wait was over an hour so we took it to go so I don't know if that played into it as well. Again if you need gluten-free thus place has good options.
Mike McManus
Made it easy to be vegan and still get great pizza! That's something rare on the east coast. Sometimes they are too busy and the staff has a tough time but overall a fantastic place!
Peter Eglinton
Always a favorite, ever since our grown-up kids were toddlers. Delicious pizza and salads.
Micah Malloy
Our families go to favorite when all the kids come home. Great food and atmosphere. Try the sausage on your pizza. The best!
Miranda Castleberry
Tried their Casco pizza very yummy! The ranch is also delicious. The pizza has a lighter crust. Good service!
Sokkalingam S Subramanian
Sat outdoors facing the water with my dog. Very friendly staff. Plenty of shade and the vegan pizza was good.
Heather Carney-Salsbury
Loved it. Onlyba 20min wsit on a busy holiday week. Had vegan flatbread pizza and it was great. We also ordered the vegan whoopie pie & strawberry rhubarb crisp; both were exactly what we were hoping for. Colleen was fantastic and so helpful. We will definitely return.
H M
Nice pizza and great views. Good for a quick bite before heading out to the islands or walking around old port
Megan Schuette
We had the chicken bacon ranch with a few cocktails and thought it was rather delicious. Service was great, and the outdoor seating was perfect.
Andrew Cammarano
This place is really busy and they know it. I ordered take out from a friendly guy. Took a stroll to wait, when I returned and asked about my food another person was at the register. She was rushed, but told me my name was nowhere in the system, no evidence of my order. Asked me to hang on while she helped someone else. In the meantime the original guy who I ordered from walked up, asked if anyone had helped me, I told him what the woman had told me, he instead opened the warmer cabinet, found my food immediately handed it too me. Salad was great, flatbread was so-so.
Kerry Gallivan
The pizza - even the GF version, the goat cheese salad, the outdoor deck on the water and cozy inside seating during winter. Continues to be a local go-go. The lines can be long be they are speedy. Enjoy a drink from the bar window on the dock side.
Dave Getz
Casual dinner. We sat at the bar. The bartender made well-crafted drinks and made sure our order was prepared to our liking.
Mohammad Karimian
The pizza here tastes amazing. Totally recommended. The staff were so friendly.

Great Pizza...Nice wait staff. Cozy atmosphere during the winter next to the fire ovens and nice out on the deck by the water during the summer. Will be back for sure.

Such a friendly waitress, loved the smell of wood burning ovens, every flatbread and salad we had was delicious. Mushroom flatbreads and the strawberry, goat cheese arugula salad specials were terrific.

Just wow! What a nice place just by the water in Portland harbour! They serve delicious flatbreads (pizzas) baked in a huge stonw oven and one of the most delicous salads, too. Try it out, it's more than worth it! You won't be disappointed.

Nice view of the harbor, good service, tasty pizza and local Maine beer.

Always great. Staple food spot for my family for 10+ years.

I've been here twice. The food is good and reasonably priced for the area. Both times I went there was a short wait but I've seen people wait a very long time for a seat. They have lots of options even vegan ones. Would definitely visit again.

A great location right on the water in Portland. The Brick Oven, Wood-Fired flatbread pizza is always excellent. And the local beer list is really outstanding too.

Busy restaurant with good seafront location. No complaints with food or service and particularly liked the music selection when we were (waitress said it was just random Spotify, someone had set it off on a late 70s / early 80s UK rock & pop path, which was great)

Great atmosphere, beautiful pizza ovens. I tried a pie I believe called the equilibrium. I can't wait to go again and get the same, because it was delicious. 🙂🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕 …

Flatbread has a great atmosphere and excellent staff. Their flatbread pizzas are really unique and taste great. The prices are a little higher than what some like to pay but I think it is worth it.

The pizza was delicious...perfect crust to topping ratio!!! Friendly atmosphere and great views.

Pretty good! We liked going here a lot. The service was alright, and we were seated quickly. The pizza was very very good, but a bit flimsy. Would go here again :D

Got the community pizza, did not like it.

So much greatness in one place. I was visiting family in Maine, and they said we had to go here for lunch. It was peaceful outside, great view, great service and great food.
#1 Suggestion - Blueberry Root Beer Float! wow!

We tried to southwest flatbread and I had sweet tea that was sweetened with honey. Both so good!

Fantastic local beers on tap. Wonderful ambiance overlooking the harbor. Had a tasty swordfish/pineapple/aoili flatbread pizza. Great time all around. Would absolutely return.

Had the beet and goat cheese salad added chicken to it. It was an excellent meal. I highly recommend it. They have several beers on. Tried two and enjoyed both.

Great pizza and beers. Spoilt by waitress throwing a glass at me, forgetting my order and no apology (may be she had a bad day).
Responded to Thomas' comment by e-mail to discuss but no further correspondence had.

Very good pizza and the atmosphere is awesome. Sitting dockside next to clay ovens that are woodfired for the pizza. So good. I think Dave Portnoy of Barstool should stop here and do a pizza review.

Amazing pizza with the best selections of topping combinations. Several Vegetarian, Vegan, and Gluten Free options. Best Pizza and amazing atmosphere!
