Reviews of The Blue Crab Restaurant and Oyster Bar

Considering that I'm a local, I was impressed with this experience. We had a group of 17 and they don't take reservations for groups over 10 or 12. I called Seth, the manager on duty just to give him a heads up that we were still coming. Seth was a rock star and was as accommodating as he could be for our large group. We started early (5:30pm) with drinks in the upstairs bar area and were eventually seated at two tables near each other. We ordered lots of appetizers and main courses but the standouts for me were the Shrimp and Grits and the Seafood Pasta. Both were excellent! This is also a nice place to catch a sunset and hear some live music.

Really enjoyed the fish and macaroni. The gumbo was good but maybe missing something that prevents it from being amazing. A little under $78 pre tip for two entrees, coke, and an alcoholic beverage isn’t too bad. The views of the water are calming. The wait was about 30 minutes on a Friday so it was worth it. Everything on the menu looked good. Next time I’ll try something fried.

Great place right on Lake Ponchatrain. Great View, amazing sunset, nice breeze, good food. Delicious food, fun atmosphere and good music. Food was delicious! Service was great and I'm coming back just for the Blue Crab Dip... Highly recommend and I will definitely return.

Incredible happy hour deals on oysters and drinks! This alone makes it one of our favorite spots to eat whenever we come to NOLA. It's certainly not fancy, but we didn't come here for for that. Service was extremely good and fast. Will be back for sure!

Beautiful day in New Orleans today so we decided to go have dinner by the lake. Finally I got a chance to eat at The Blue Crab. It’s usually too busy during the weekend. The food was delicious. We had the fried oysters and catfish. Serving size was good because you get side I wanted a salad but you can get French fries, veggies and more. The calamari was probably my favorite of them all. I’ll need to come back to try other items from the menu.

As a local, I somehow had managed to never dine here…but very glad I finally have! I brought my foodie grandmother who loves this place, and we were pleased with the overall experience. The food was delicious and plentiful, and my drink (Blue Crab Collins) was perfect for a summer day. We got the bbq shrimp and onion rings as appetizers + the crab cake sandwich and combo seafood platter for entrees. I would recommend any of those options, although the fried seafood wasn’t my favorite of all time. Plenty of tables and a live band downstairs. I will say, it is a little annoying to not be able to make a reservation…you can call ahead to be placed on the wait list but still will have to wait once you’re there. (This was mostly just frustrating to explain to a hangry grandma lol) There is an elevator which is great if you have an elderly person or someone who is mobility-impaired or disabled. It was busy on a Saturday lunch but nothing too much to cause an especially long wait. Our server was a very attentive and patient woman, and she gave great service (I think her name was something like Gloria?) It’s lovely to sit and watch the boats go by! We will definitely go back!

This restaurant is lovely. The server was excellent and the food was absolutely delish. The Blue Crab Platter was great and I requested the catfish and shrimp to be grilled. We also substituted the fries for sweet potatoes fries. The chargrilled oysters are the best! We sat outside on the upstairs patio and the view was amazing. We were entained after dinner at the ground level with a great band. I highly recommend this restaurant 👌

The food was really good. The staff was very welcoming. I had the grilled catfish with mixed veggies. The catfish was good really well. The mixed veggies were soft but not too soft. I sat outside and it is a great view of the lake.

Food was very very good. Portions were more than enough for one person per plate. Its on the water and made for a nice dinning environment.

Leaving the Blue Crab with full, happy tummies!! Do yourself a favor & get the gumbo...instead of pairing it with the traditional potato salad, get the brown sugar corn muffins! 🤤🤤🤤 I've never tasted anything like it! I'll be thinking about these for a while lol. Hubby enjoyed a dz chargrilled oysters while I had the Blue Crab Collins cocktail which was super "refreshing" like a blueberry lemonade! Also had the fried seafood platter that included a soft shell crab (delicious) & onion rings...all of which were great. Service was prompt & friendly. I definitely see a return visit in the near future
