Reviews of Piece Of Meat

The food is amazing! The atmosphere in this small place has a nice mix between going out for dinner and eating at a friend's place. It's cozy setting, amazing food and friendly staff make a great combination.
Normally I'm not a big fan of an open kitchen because of the noise, but somehow they made it work here.
Only thing is the price, even though I do think it's a fair price for the amount and quality of food you get, for me it was quite expensive. Maybe they could include some small sides with dishes for those prices. Anyway for around $100,- per person you will have a nice amazing dinner here.

Delicious house made bread. The best steak tartar I've had in along time. The prime ribeye for two was epic, savory, beautifully crusted, just awesome. Thoughtful wine list, great for a steak house. Delicious ice cream pie.

This has been a restaurant on my list to try for years but had never visited New Orleans. Wife and I are here for a long weekend and it was one of our first stops. We split a charcuterie board, got a Hot Rye and a Fried Bologna sandwich — both sandwiches were incredible. Probably the best Pastrami sandwich I have ever eaten in my life; the fried bologna on the sandwich was a texture of fried bologna I have never seen, more along the lines of thick crispy bacon than bologna and was obviously a bologna either made in house or made for them. The flavor was unlike any bologna I have ever eaten. My favorite meats though were the Pattee and Head Cheeses on the charcuterie board; absolutely incredible flavors and textures.
I can’t speak highly enough of the staff. Everyone was extremely courteous and very willing to answer all the questions I had and provide recommendations. It was obvious everyone there truly cared about the food they were putting out and wanted to make it an experience for every customer that came in.

OMG I can't wait to go back! Roasted beet salad was delish & the BBQ shrimp app was yum! Ribeye was perfection! Great cocktails and awesome staff!

We had an ok experience having lunch here. The place is cozy but sort of small on the inside while outside was full of annoying flies. The sandwiches were hit and miss. The french dip and brisket were good while the pastrami one not very good. In addition they didn’t have ribs. The egg appetiser was quite good. They have a choice of sides. I took the coleslaw which was ok but also super small.

Piece of Meat recently made the transition from neighbourhood butcher/sandwich shop to neighbourhood steak house. As expected our dinner was incredible and unmatched by any other steak in town. The flawless execution of a perfectly grilled steak with a side car of sea salt was paired with the best baked potato I’ve ever eaten.
Their straight forward menu and simple
Cocktail and wine list will satisfy your sommelier friend and Guy Fieri Wannabe Buddy alike.
I can’t wait to go back.

The food was really good and we especially loved the steak. The steak had a great sear and very flavorful....it didn't need anything extra even though you can get horseradish sauce or chimichuri. Our waitress did an outstanding job. She was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. I would most certainly go back.

This place was absolutely delicious very small quaint place nestled on the corner but definitely a hidden gem! The boudin egg rolls were absolutely sinfully amazing! Was pleasantly surprised to have some sliced duck on the charcuterie board & the spicy mustard & almonds that came with it were a wonderful addition as well! This triple D spot is a must try while visiting New Orleans!

The BEST steakhouse experience I’ve had in New Orleans, ever! Do not sleep on the chicken liver toast - it was amazing. I was also impressed by the heirloom tomato salad, mashed potatoes, & broccoli (it’s served cold and for a second you think it’ll be weird, but it is everything). The steak was perfectly (!!!!) seasoned/cooked, service was lovely (shoutout to Peggy), vibes were high (amazing lighting/intimate feel/even cute + quirky bathroom decor). Oh & the tahini chocolate chip cookie served in a small cast iron skillet was the best dessert I’ve had in years. You don’t just need to eat at Piece of Meat - you *must*.

Went on a whim while visiting the city with significant other and so glad we did. Food was exquisite! Thick cut Pork chop, BBQ shrimp, tallow bread, sweet and spicy brussel sprouts, and glazed squash with yogurt we all fantastic.
Pork chop was tender and melt in your mouth and well seasoned. The squash was a excellent contrast between the inherent sweetness and the sourness of the yogurt. Brussel sprouts were soft sweet and savory. The shrimp head and shell on easily peeled and in a spiced broth with a hunk of bread. The bread with a tallow candle was also great tasting a visually appealing.
Ambiance was intimate and a good vibe. All in all a great experience.

I saw this place on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives and it was everything it was hyped up to be and more! Normally I would never order Bologna or a pastrami sandwich, but these homemade meats aren't like anything I've ever had before! Highly recommend after you've had your fill of Cajun classics in New Orleans, you gotta stop here and get a piece of meat!
Owen Courreges
One of the best meals I've ever had. The steak tartare is the best in the city, and the filet was absolutely perfect. Sides are a highlight as well, and service was attentive. I would definitely recommend them for a special occasion.
Niceguy618
I took my wife here dinner, and it was one of the best meals we’ve ever had. She had the Waygu steak and it was the best piece of meat she’s ever had. The beef tallow candle was a cool touch, and quite tasty. The Redfish was seasoned perfectly and cooked beautifully, it would melt in your mouth. The sweet and spicy Brussel Sprouts were a delicious surprise.
Michael Barton
Piece of Meat offers the best BBQ in NOLA without exception. The brisket is juicy and you'll want all the gristle. The ribs are cooked very well and are a bit licorice forward thanks to fennel. The boudin is a perfect blend. Snag an outdoor table. You won't need your knife. The brisket sandwich is famous, but I recommend you get the BBQ Platter on your first visit to sample lots of what they offer. You'll be happy either way.

An eclectic restaurant with an awesome menu, especially for those who enjoy quality foods prepared with a unique flair. Our entire party left satisfied and we will definitely be back! Cudos to the chef, Anthony and entire staff!

A little pricey
Delicious appetizers
Can highly recommend
Hank Recor
What a great atmosphere here! Love the vibe and the music.
Now let’s get to the food. Good gravy!!! Everything was delicious. Boudin egg rolls were the star of the show. Our sandwiches definitely too notch.
Nola Mech
Absolutely delicious. Nice smoked flavor and a variety of items with the BBQ plate. This place is in my top ten BBQ places in New Orleans.
Curt Donohew
Great food! Great service! Awesome atmosphere. Order family style and share - everything we had was great. Peggy gave us outstanding service.
Thanks for an enjoyable evening.

One of the best meals ever! Great service. Loved the beef candle. Steak tartare was to die for and the steak was cooked perfectly. Great wine selection too!
Dara P
The brisket was much too fatty for me. My first bite was a big chunk of fat. The Buffalo Jojos were hot ant tasty. Three boudin egg rolls were interesting. Friends enjoyed the Philly Cheese sandwich and the platter. Tasted the slaw and it was delish. Loved the outdoor seating. Big picnic tables stained a lovely shade of green and vanished for easy cleaning. The day was nice so we sat outside. I noticed there were fans for cooling as well as heating. Nice touch.
Mike V
In town visiting and we Luckily found this place by accident. BBQ plate was great, the meatloaf sandwich was so tasty and full of flavor, and the Boudin Egg Rolls were spot on!
Jay Tombstone
Went for brunch. The apple French toast was amazing! The biscuits n gravy were delicious too.
Misti Gaither
Really enjoyed eating here last Sundsy.. the Tasso Egg Benedict was delicious along with a side of breakfast potatoes! And if that wasn't enough, their Bloody Mary and Moscow Mule was on point !
Mere M
Pricey but delicious. I found the entree items to have far superior meat compared to other places but other items in the food to not be seasoned as well (not bad, just not as wonderful). But for a place where the piece of meat is the focus, it's quite appropriate. We tried the bologna, ham biscuit, corned beef hash, and the charcuterie board. Next time I would definitely come just for the charcuterie and drinks because the meat should certainly be the highlight. There is at least one vegetarian option! It is fun to sit at the bar and see how the menu items are prepared. Service is very fast and very friendly. They all appear to enjoy their work. Definitely will return. Photo is of the hash (after messing up the egg).
Wouter de Bie
We loved this place when it was an amazing butcher shop, but it got even better after they changed to a full time restaurant. Piece of Meat just took over as the best steakhouse in town with perfectly cooked steaks, ridiculous sides, strong cocktails, fun chefs you can have a conversation with while they cook the cow that's about to enter your mouth and Dion from Trinidad catering to all your needs at the bar. This place is worth trying to find parking in the neighborhood for.
Jason Broom
Pretty good. Ribs were a little burnt. Chicken sandwich was average. Potatoes were typical NOLA bar food. Average. #Geauxeat
Sandy de Bie
This former butcher shop upgraded to a steak restaurant and wow! It was one of the best meals I've had in Nola in ages! My wagyu was cooked perfectly and the million dollar potatoes and tomato salad sides were heavenly. To top that off, they had Ramhaus ice cream pie for dessert. heavenly!!
Lizzie Borden
Server was wonderful and did a great job choosing for us on some items. Food was phenomenal. All four of us had a great time trying things from each other's plates. The bread with the tallow candle was delicious.
Matthew Voorhees
Great place! Brisket sandwich was delicious. Girlfriend liked the steak sandwich so much, she got another one to go. Good drinks and Mexican coke to boot. So good! Plus they have the best salt and pepper shakers.
Brittany Tusing
SO GOOD! Run by all women (or at least as far as I saw), this spot has an open kitchen, a great menu with really flavorful dishes, and a chill atmosphere. The smoker is sitting outside on the street when you walk in so you can smell the smoke!
I went the vegetarian route and tried the No Animals Were Harmed (etc.) sandwich, and was a little worried I might not like it. I was entirely wrong. It was just as good as the meat dishes my friends had, if not better. The balsamic and goat cheese make it so flavorful and the textures are on point.
My friends got the Sloppy Pablo, the Boudin Egg Rolls, and the Bodega Bologna sandwich. Everyone loved everything and all we could say was “wow” over and over while we ate.
Highly recommend!!
Jacob Freedman
The food was excellent. Definitely worth a trip
Kim Welan
Just Wow! Do NOT miss the Boudin Egg Roll! Good counter-style service and so far everything I've tried (Hot Pastrami sandwich, Not Turkey & The Wolf Bologna sandwich, the fresh sausage patties, and if course, the Boudin Egg Roll -twice!) has been absolutely stellar. Prices may seem at first a little much for a deli/sandwich place but once you try it you'll realize you are actually eating gourmet food - without the bow tied waiters and the white linen tablecloths. A definite hidden gem for foodies and I will be back for more.
cong tran
Finally! I had to try it. I saw this place featured on the show DDD on the food network.
I ordered the boudin eggroll, bologna on onion bun, a lemonade to wash it all down.
I highly recommend the boudin. It was a stand out appetizer!
The bologna sandwich is unlike what I would have eaten as a child. It is definitely worth a try too.
I look forward the next visit to try the other prepared dishes and cuts to go.
Kevin Malagarie
Amazing food! Boudin egg rolls are to die for and the tacos are amazing! Baloni sandwich off the chain!
Jasmine Ballard
I was browsing for a spot to grab lunch today and noticed this spot was was named the #1 "hottest restaurant in New Orleans, October 2018" by Eater NOLA.
Let me tell ya, they weren't wrong. I got the steak of the day [with balsamic red onions, roasted pepper aioli, arugula on and onion roll cut]: tangy, slighty sweet, and savory perfectly balanced.
All the meats are cured in house. The butcher workspace is located right behind the cashier where you can watch them work their craft. The meat locker is also on display in the front of the shop. I have to say it's pretty neat to see the all the elements that go into making grade A meat for the pleasures of mastication.
Nicole Atkins
I got the brisket sandwich and it was really good!! The sauce and pickled onions really added flavor to each bite. Staff was very friendly and they had a nice 90s 2000s playlist playing. 4 stars only because soda tasted like the carbonation was off and second drink came from a can and tasted exactly the same so not sure what happened there. Minus that, everything and everyone was great. If I ever come back to New Orleans I'd stop by again!
Jim Oliver
Been wanting to check this place out since the first time I heard about it last year. It was on my list of things to do while we were in town last week and It didn't disappoint. The Tasso ham and headcheese are both really well done here, and if you're looking for a hot item to munch on the boudin eggrolls are freakin delicious. It's more of a place to go by handcrafted meat than to get a full-on meal, But if you're doing a charcuterie board or cooking dinner at home it's a must. The staff is also super helpful and friendly and the inside has a funky almost coffee house style vibe to it... But with meat. Had we driven down rather than fly I absolutely would have filled a cooler full of goodies to bring back to Chicago, which I fully intend to do the next time I'm in NOLA.
Carlos John
Piece of meat is the most consistent restaurant. Every meal has been so delicious.
Alexander Vallar
A random local recommended this restaurant to my party, and I'm so glad that they did. It's mouthwatering good! Whatever the butcher recommends, eat it. We order a little bit of everything; suggesting one particular dish is impossible. Everything on the menu is delicious. It's a short walk from Canal Street with quick access to the streetcar line. Get yourself to this local gem ASAP!
Iron Chef
Food was delicious across the board! A nice little surprise, can't wait till construction is done!
Todd Thozeski
This place defines consistency. Ya don't have someone new in the kitchen on the daily. Same peeps, same great eats.
Andre Sólo
The good: The food is just magnificent, with very friendly and helpful staff. Mouth watering goodness. The bad: The outside seating (which is all they have) has a REAL problem with flies. Like 20-30 per table buzzing in a constant cloud. I’m no delicate flower when it comes to eating outside, I can deal with bugs, but it was pretty bad. Would definitely go back for takeout or maybe just try in a different season and see if it’s better.
Matthew Greenbaum
Got the brisket sandwich today and the brisket was absolutely amazing. The roll was a little big but the brisket melted in my mouth. Possibly the best I've ever tasted. Highly recommend going here.
Jeanne Arnoult
Brisket sandwich and boudin egg rolls are a must have! Love the quaint bbq-y atmosphere and staff!
Kirby Glover
This is an excellent butcher shop, especially if you love high quality animal products. They are very willing to do special orders, all you have to do is ask. If you want organ meat, all you need to do is send them an email or call and work out the details and they will set things aside for you, it's great. I was able to get both calf's liver and lamb kidneys at a very good price when I visited, as well as high quality eggs, duck fat, and beef tallow. If you're going to go carnivore like I am in the process of doing, this is the place to go. Also, the service is fantastic, and their sausages looked amazing.
Nazary Nebeluk
Pretty decent lunch spot. I'm suspecting they're a better butcher then a restaurant. I had the brisket and it was fine - the onions nor horseradish had any real kick. We did the ribs as an appetizer - they were a little on the dry/leathery side. Definitely worse places to get a sandwich in New Orleans but I won't be rushing back here anytime soon.
Yasmin Eskandari
Great place for tasso, brisket and great sandwiches! Reasonably priced and good folks!
Joseph Davenport
We saw the Triple D episode about this place and waited what we thought would be a sufficient amount of time for any hype and larger crowds to go down so we would get an authentic experience. Beautiful Sunday morning, we enter into an amazing smell of meat cooking and a nicely clean establishment. We ordered the bologna sandwich, brisket sandwich, potato salad, and bounden egg rolls then bellied up to the bar seated closest to the kitchen. Food was hot, flavorful, and fast!! Brisket fell a part in ur fingers and then melted in your mouth! Bologna sandwich was perfect!! Bounden egg rolls are to die for and could be a stand alone meal with a side of potato salad!! This place is not hyped at all!!! Deserves every bit of respect and praise it gets bc it EARNS it!! Already called friends and are planning on coming back ASAP!!
Frankie Giovinazzo
One of the best places to eat in the city. Always an excellent experience.
Basteing and Rubbing
Loved shopping here before the stupid mayor did the vaccine card mandate. Used to drive 90 mins just to shop here. Great meat, great sandwiches. Great staff. Will come back when the city comes to its sences.
Thomas Planchet
The single best sandwich I have ever eaten, but it was small and I could've easily eaten two. $13 for a piece of meat (no matter how delicious) on a small bun with no sides is too rich for me, except as a rare treat. But, if you have the bucks, the brisket sandwich is awesome.
William Schoenbachler
Boudin and bologna sandwich were amazing, from Seattle for the week and so glad was able to eat here on our last day. Wish would have found this earlier in the week. Well done!
Connor Mustar
just stopped her about 2 hours ago and i was quite impressed. Didn't even mean to stop here either but we found it just by chance and we liked the name. I ended up getting a smoked brisket sandwich and it was fantastic. Full of flavor and the brisket melted in your mouth. My brother and father were also with me and they thought the food was amazing. the beans were also fantastic and full of flavor. Even ended up buying some salami at the end, too. Would love to stop here again, its just too bad i'm from California but i would definitely recommend this place to any meat lover out there.
Bill Whittenberger
The BEST brisket I've ever had! The sandwich was amazing! My friend had the steak sandwich and said the same thing! I'll definitely be there again to try their different items! You have got to try this place! Unbelievably great food!
Kelly Snyder
Well, Piece of Meat lived up to the hype and then some. Mom and I went for a late lunch last Friday. Such a quaint, cool spot. It’s small but they pack in a good amount of seats plus they have picnic tables outside. It’s still not quite blazing hot in Nola so we opted to sit outside, which was a great idea. The backdrop of Bienville Ave is beautiful and their smoker sits on the street right next to the tables, putting out a scent that Armani could never duplicate. We of course had the boudin egg rolls which were rich, decadent and just plain awesome. Mom had the fried bologna sandwich, I had the pastrami and let’s just say that there wasn’t anything left to take home. So happy to have this place in my neighborhood. For tourists, this is an easy 10 minute Uber from Downtown. Bayou Wine and Beer Garden is next door. Walk on over after an awesome lunch!
Ariel Tusa
We went here for brunch and it was excellent! The boudin egg rolls were so good. The chorizo scramble was pretty good, but the goat with grits was insanely good.
I’d recommend grabbing a full table if you sit outside. The small two top was kind of uncomfortable mainly because the stools are too tall for the table height.
Garrett Dipuma
Piece of Meat, at my first glance, was superb. Both indoor and outdoor seating areas are well planned out and comfortable. I had the bologna sandwich, and like it says, it’s not a Turkey and the Wolf ripoff. It was very good and the only thing similar to T&W’s was that it did not taste like an overpriced sandwich. I also had the boudin egg rolls. I’ve had boudin from all over the state, and this on is up there with the best of them. Can’t wait to try more of their food!
Paul Brebner
best steak ever in the mid town area - just excellent
James Van Pelt
This place is awesome! Great food, I had a brisket sandwich, my lovely wife had the bang mi. Both were very good, I don’t want to brag but they have some of the best smoked brisket in the city. I can’t wait to try their other menus items. Highly recommended.
Smithson Music (Rob Smith)
Best butcher hands down. The meats at this place are transcendent and will never disappoint. Like a new lover who is eager to satisfy, Piece of Meat beckons all of New Orleans to satiate their meat sweats within the finest of boucherie. Somehow they manage to serve the meat of royalty within proletarian surroundings.
Tasha Fierce
So I didn't have much time on my lunch break and I wanted a sandwich on the run.. I stopped in and ordered the chicken salad sandwich and got it pretty fast. I was hungry so I was just gonna take a bite just to get me back to work, omg... I ate the whole thing in the parking lot. I could not stop eating as each bite was a wonder; is this sandwich this good or imagination?? One more bite, I have to know...The bread, the seasoning on the salad and Lord have mercy, the blueberry BBQ sauce😍😍😍
ra Thompson
We had the BBQ Pork sandwich with Buffalo Jo’s and the “Not Turkey and the Wolf’s Bologna” sandwich with Regular Jo’s. Both were great!! Nice patio and located a cool area of NOLA. Check it out!
Bennett Price
The highest quality meat you can purchase in New Orleans. I wouldn’t even consider spending my money anywhere else. The deli counter always has something new and creative. Goat sausage, handmade hot dogs, country pate, duck breast, whole hens. It’s all fantastic and the staff is always ready so friendly. Can’t recomend this spot enough.
Amanda Torres
Great service, food comes out rly quick! They have a new sandwich of the day constantly and it’s always delicious!! Everyone thinks I’m joking when I say this but if I could only have one more meal on earth it would definitely be from here. Best restaurant in New Orleans.
Shannon Sipes
I had the steak of the day & requested it w/o the bun...it came salad style & was delicious. Hubby had the pastrami & said it was rich & really good. Definitely a good quality meat spot!
Janice Montoya
So freaking delicious. We kept saying “oh my god” between each bite, it was that good. Highly recommend. We can’t wait to go back! I also love that only women were behind the counter!
lorna lopez
Everything was delicious. Loved the spicy sweet Brussel sprouts
Carmen Souhlas
Good service. Inside & outside clean. Display cases for meats. You can ask for trimming a piece.Fresh meat for you to take home and cook. A bit higher than
Market prices. I got a soup bone for my dog. Next time I'll ask them to cut in 1/2 ,my dog is small.
Menu offers sandwiches, salads; plates & appetizers. Shop also sells specialty items such as pork rellion. Busy area , parking on street. Staff is eager to help.
And they sell T-shirts and tank shirts with the clever logo.
Jon Zotz
Steak of the day was awesome! Grilled perfectly. Nice selection of sandwiches to be had, with daily specials. If you're around the area, this is a great alternative to the standard po boy sandwich shop.
Jennifer goosman
Neighborhood favorite! Always good service, food, and atmosphere. Had the boudin egg rolls, ham biscuit sandwich, and JoJo's. Love the deli too! Will definitely be back as much as possible!
Megan Gray
This place is awesome! The food was delicious and they clearly have a sense of humor (fake body parts in dryer and cabinet for Halloween flare!) Its all the more top notch since they're also the butchers.
James LeBlanc
Went there for the fried chicken. Absolutely awesome. Delicious batter, fried to perfection, and nine of the biggest pieces of natural chicken I have ever tasted. Can't wait to go back.
Tim Gilthorpe
Had the Reverend. This sandwich will change your life. By far the best corned beef I have ever eaten. Had a side of the Joe Joe's. This place it really on point obviously ran and staffed by pros who care about what they are putting out there
Carolyn Mayo
Oh my goodness! Didn’t eat in, but stopped a a filet for the grill and then decided to try some garlic sausage as well. Delicious and tender. So, so happy to have them in the neighborhood.
Julia Woodiwiss
Great food! Absolutely delicious wings and brisket sandwich. Not busy in the afternoon so could get a table easily. Would definitely go back.
Martin Muñoz
Best experience in food at new orleana; you have to be there in your next visit
Raoul Bukowski
One of the best pastrami sandwiches you can get in town. It is smoked though, if that's an issue for you. They also have a meat counter that I always have to get something from. Pate to boudain to cured and smoked duck breast, I've never had anything that hasn't been amazing.
Ryan Gebhardt
Purchased 2 massive bone-in ribeyes and a wagyu strip. Quality of meat was fantastic, great marbling, knowledgeable staff, and great experience from top down. If you are looking for great meat at a reasonable price, get to this place ASAP
Justin Kray
Quality purveyor of smoked meats
Elle Mahoney
We’ve eaten and taken out food from PoM weekly since it opened. Love love love. The ONLY reason it missed that coveted 5th Star is because the SODIUM LEVELS are TOO HIGH. Come on, this is 2019! Let’s realize killing your client base is antithetical to longevity of the business. Keep up the great food.
Jamie Davis
Piece of Meat has the farm to table figured out! Great food, great experience and the staff tops it off! This made the top 5 on my NOLA foodie list.
Michael Mansell
Brisket sandwich w/pickled red onions & horseradish mayo is fantastic! They're doing brunch now on Saturdays & Sundays.

Anitra Keith
Food was phenomenal!!! And they have an amazing selection of meats you wont find many places.

One of the best (if not the best) meat and foods purveyor AND sandwich shop. They're informative and professional, and sell a ton of local goods.
Nikki Williams
I was in heaven just approaching the door. That divine smell of meat smoking.... rawr and the service was excellent. The good was out of this world. I am a giant fan.

Joshua Arndt
Ordered pick up. Food was ready in a short period of time. Outstanding flavors!
Gregory Nichols, Esq.
The lamb was delicious, what there was of it. I'd estimate the sandwich was about 85% bread and kale. A bit disappointing.
Clay K
Always fantastic! These people know meat. Boudin Egg Rolls are money! Whatever their daily special, get that.
Robert Barnard

Amazing food, fabulous drinks, and excellent service! The food is top notch but in an approachable and comfortable atmosphere. We came for brunch which was delicious. Favorites were the boudin egg rolls and the biscuits and gravy. Then we came back for Valentine's day and the food was mind-blowing. The tartare was one of the best I've had. Peggy's service was delightful from start to finish. Special thanks to the kitchen for making a substitute on the prix fixe meal since I cannot eat shrimp. Cannot say enough positive things about this restaurant.❤️🔥
