We were looking around for something quick to eat and stumbled upon this gem. The food was hot, fresh and so flavorful. We had the seafood egg rolls which are some of the best I’ve ever had. For my lunch I had the French toast and chicken. The French toast on the French bread *chefs kiss* was some of the best I’ve ever had in my life. There was so much flavor and the wings were seasoned to perfection. We were really impressed!

Such an awesome experience! We were driving through New Orleans via I-10 and decided to stop for some Po ‘boy sandwiches as I hadn’t had one before. Food was great but really it was the owner and staff that made it such a great experience. They all checked on us, had such pleasant attitudes and seemed genuinely interested in what was going on with us. Would 100% come back to see them next time I’m in town. Parking is street parking but we had no problem with it even with a 16ft moving truck. Music is R&B/Jazz vibes and I was just bobbing along to the music while drinking my slushy. So good!

We discovered this gem on our last night on our recent visit and it was some of the best food we had on this trip. It will definitely be on the top of our list when we are in the area! Great service, super nice staff, neat atmosphere, and fantastic food! We ordered take out, but would have loved to sit outside to eat. Will definitely visit next time!

I love this place! Tried the charbroiled oysters and they are one of a kind! They serve breakfast all day too so our table had all of the best things between the four of us. If you’re in New Orleans, you need to check this place out. Just barely off the beaten path in so many ways. Unique and delicious.

They serve breakfast and lunch all day. The service was great! We ordered The Island drink which was sweet but refreshing! We also ordered a shrimp po boy which was delicious from the batter on the shrimp to the bread roll it was served on and the shrimp burrito which was seasoned to perfection! Great little local spot, definitely worth trying.

This black owned business is a diamond in the rough. The food was excellent. High quality fresh shrimp on my poboy. My wife and the shrimp and catfish platter with fries, she almost didn’t finish it with out my help. Highly recommend this place. Staff was attentive and courteous. Will be back again.

Absolutely fantastic, one of the best meals we had while in Nola for 4 days. The shrimp and grits were other worldly, amazingly seasoned and cooked. French toast was crisp on the outside, soft in, just perfection. Wish we had more time to go back to Nonnos. Great service too, Vicky was great!!

I’d like to start by saying the owner is a great guy! I met him personally and he’s the epitome of New Orleans. For that reason alone we will be back (although the food was quite tasty). A small restaurant that serves good food and drinks. Me and my wife enjoyed our time here and this location will be frequented by us for years to come.

Love Nonnos for a couple of reasons. To start, the seafood eggrolls! I love when we are surprised by an innovated spin on local cuisine and these eggrolls did not disappoint! All the food was good as you would expect from this home-cooked corner eatery. It is a little walk from all the action of Bourbon Street buy it is beautifully scenic and well worth it.

I had the French toast turkey bacon and two scrambled eggs. The French toast was made on French bread. It was sweet enough to where I did not have to add any syrup eggs will cook perfect and buttery. I did also pick up a t-shirt from them. I will be going back to this place next time I'm in New Orleans. Thank you for an excellent meal.

Best breakfast I ever had. French toast, hot sausage, shrimp grits, eggs, homemade biscuits so soft. OMG. Came back for lunch and had seafood egg roll and chargrilled oysters. Flavors, seasoning are on point! Also the homemade lemonade and tea drinks are a amazing!! They owners are awesome. Go here ASAP!

We’ve enjoyed breakfast here several times. The service is always top notch, I’ve never seen the bottom of my coffee mug. The food is amazing - eggs are always perfectly cooked and the french toast is the best I’ve ever had. 5 stars all the away around…a very enjoyable place.

We enjoyed a late breakfast ( they serve breakfast all day!) at Nonno’s and , what a breakfast it was! Don’t miss this spot- it is situated nicely on a corner which adds to a sweet neighborly feel. Perhaps you will be treated to some karaoke singing like we were - coffee and a little Al Green! They brew a strong cup and the food was delicious. The French toast- made using pistolet , was perfect without adding a thing- beef sausage prepared split and just right to make it crisp on the edges and the eggs? I am sure you have never had eggs like these - seasoned and exactly over medium. Creamy grits adorned with shrimp and a griddled biscuit! Came home with leftovers because I ate that biscuit hot first! Lucky me, I get to have shrimp and grits again in the morning . If you are fortunate, maybe you can have a chat with Shermond , the owner before you leave . We are so happy to have discovered a new favorite and we plan to be regulars.

This Place felt like home. This is my first time ever visiting on My B’Earthday which is today. 👑🎊 Literally everything about this place was absolutely Amazing — from getting greeted and seated by “Summer” , meeting the Owner and also having Diego keeping the place clean. When I tell you I Enjoyed each moment. It’s Worth It (especially those endless Mimosas 🙌🏽🤣😉) and those Top Tier Platters. Chileeeeeeeeeee I was beyond satisfied. Delicious soul food. Came in here for some breakfast, and was greeted by a very friendly hostess. I had a plate of grits, eggs, sausage and toast all for $10. The food had a lot of flavor, and inside was cooler than the humidity and heat from outside. Their chicken and waffles dish looked good to, but I was fearful of falling asleep after :). Very friendly waitresses too.

Omg we were intending to go to another restaurant and ended up landing here. There is no red carpet at the door but let me tell you!!!!!!! The food was freaking amazing…per the usual the people were so sweet (southern hospitality)…. I ordered shrimp & grits with French toast… my boyfriend order the nanos French toast & the hot sausage sandwich… we almost hurt ourselves trying to finish it. Will be back !!!!! It was worth the money, worth the time, just freaking worth it!!!! Try it and thank me later !!!!!!

I ate here here the first time today. I had heard about their cauliflower po-boy, so I wanted to try it. It took like what felt like a long time for the sandwich to be prepared (especially since I was the only one there and they were about to close), but I knew that meant that they weren't rushing good food. And I was right. The fried cauliflower po-boy exceeded my expectations. Very flavorful. Spicy. With all the right dressing. The texture was crunchy, in the way that fried shrimp would be. I was delighted from first bite to the last. And while I was waiting, I was also delighted to spend company with the fine folks who owned and ran the place: down-to-earth, friendly people offering good food and a good company. There is nothing more New Orleans than that. I'll be back.

Great breakfast, friendly service, fun atmosphere. I had the French toast and was told to try it without the syrup first. Great tip! It needed nothing on it. So good! My husband enjoyed the snapper and grits and was almost able to finish it. The servings are plentiful and satisfying. We waited about 30 minutes to be seated, but it was all worth the wait. Big shout-out to the hard-working staff. Such a great experience. We’re sure to go back. 💜

Very surprised at tge sauce never had a cheese sauce on my shrimp and grits but it was tasty. The grits needs some salt and pepper but still tasty. I asked for extra sauce packed up my left overs and hit the road...Now when I got home I put some Slap Yo Mamma on it and stirred it up and ate it the next bay...it was the ISH the next day!!

My partner works a block away and has been telling me about the restaurant and the owner for weeks. I tried the food for the first time today and was not disappointed. It was every bit of delicious that my partner said it was and it was more than reasonably priced. The restaurant itself has been redecorated since the space was taken over and it looks great inside. If you want simple, southern, yummy food and want great service, Nonna should be on your list of places to try. One last thing; if you get a chance, check out the owners story. It's inspiring.

Nice bright and cleaned up from the prior ownership. My wife had the catfish platter and the fish was cooked perfectly. She had a special request and the chef came out to the table to get the details himself and made the catfish just the way she wanted. The hit sausage patty has a nice heat kick to it. The French toast is flavorful and the right amount of sweetness. I didn't need to cover it up with syrup. We'll be back for more fish.

I have always had this place on bucket list to try. Me and my husband finally came down to New Orleans for our honeymoon and we got our chance! Every last thing was gloriously delicious! I can't recommend enough! Amazing food for a great price! Not to mention all staff there were so friendly and the atmosphere was nicely done!

I came to NOLA for a week and visited all kinds of fancy places, NONNO’S was the only one that inspired me to leave a review. This place has E VE RY THING!!! The food is amazing, the place unpretentious, the prices are a bargain and you can tell that they’re not just for the profit. NONNO’S is a labor of love. The food has soul and the ambiance has grit. We went there for breakfast and it was -packed- so we decided to come back for dinner when it was less crowded. Their breakfast menu is all day but their lunch menu starts at 2pm. The steak and eggs was meant for a king and the chargrilled oysters were the best I had in NOLA and I must’ve had them in at least seven different places, yet NONNOS had their own special touch. You’ll really be missing out if you don’t visit. I’m not posting any photos other than the outside since I don’t want to ruin the surprise. Thank you NONNO’S for having us and looking forward to come back some day. Much love.

I was able to successfully find this place with the help of one of the local tiktok influencers( trecie @bukutriece on tiktok) if you’re not following her please do! She’s literally amazing and I don’t even know her personally. Our waitress Jasmine was sooo amazing and was very hospitable and gave so many great local recommendations. Everyone I know I tell them about this place and everyone has had a wonderful experience. If this isn’t enough let me just say don’t walk RUN and get the French toast no syrup needed. We were looking for a cup of coffee and stumbled across this awesome place. The shrimp and grits were delicious! The biscuits were fluffy and so tasty. The turkey sausage was delightfully spicy. And the coffee was nice and strong, just what we needed to get ready for another fun day!

Was recommended to go here by a local when we were visiting the week before Halloween and we are so grateful. The vegetarian burrito was one of the best burritos I’ve ever had, and I live and grew up in Southern California. Our waitress Starr was just amazing, and we are so glad we went. There aren’t enough words to describe how AMAZING this place is. We’ve been here for breakfast 3 times during our 6 day trip. Firstly, the staff is very warm and welcoming. We came here directly after leaving the airport and we really got a glimpse of true southern hospitality. The first time I was here I ordered the French toast and eggs. OMG the French toast is soooooo good. It’s crispy on the outside and soft and buttery on the inside. The second day I got the shrimp omelette. Also out of this world. The omelette was huge and every bite had shrimp. The third time we came I got the fried chicken and French toast. Let me tell you something, I have NEVER had friend chicken so good. It was fried perfectly. Honestly the best fried food I’ve had the whole trip. Please run, don’t walk to this amazing family owned establishment. You will not be disappointed.

We called that day to make a reservation for the evening and the person on the phone was so nice. As soon as we entered, more niceness hit us in a variety of ways. Nonno's had incredible service and food. The waitress seated us right away and never kept us waiting long for her to come back and check on us. We ordered the signature shrimp and grits with a biscuit, the catfish plate, chargrilled oysters, and one piece of French toast. The portions were substantial and the food was rich and flavorful. Melt-in-your mouth catfish, perfect grits, and phenomenal biscuit. Also, the waitress was super kind and asked us if we wanted more drinks before happy hour was over right at 7pm when it ends! They had live music too and it was good. Super cute and quaint atmosphere as well. Highly recommend!

This place was one of the best places we ate at in New Orleans. The food was unreal - try the pasta with a lamb chops! The service was great and we loved the local feel to it. It was slightly off the beaten path (which we like). Highly recommend this restaurant.

I went there with a group of 5 for a birthday dinner and they seated us almost immediately. Everyone loved their food, me especially. As a vegetarian it is hard to find good vegetarian places and their cauliflower poboy is to die for. I only wish they had remolaude sauce but it was still delicious. My boyfriend had the shrimp and grits and loved it. My friends ordered the catfish and shrimp and loved it. We also ordered a few cocktails which were delicious. The service was amazing I cannot remember the young lady who took care of us but she was very sweet. We will definitely visit again.

Our first stop on a day trip to NOLA did not disappoint! Hubs had the snapper plate w/ potatoes and I had the gumbo special... THE BEST GUMBO I HAVE EVER HAD!!! Snapper was delicious as well! Great vibe, friendly staff, we will be back!

MUST HAVE!! We ordered the chargrilled oysters, French toast with chicken, waffle with chicken, and the shrimp and grits but with the grilled red snapper instead. Everything tasted so so so good. The French toast was definitely like none other. No eggy taste just delicious. Diego waited on us and he had great energy and a great smile even though he was extremely busy, he did a wonderful job. This would be my spot if I lived in town.

The food was yummy. Need to comment on the service though. While the waiter was friendly as can be, he seemed a little over eager. He dropped by every 3min to see if i needed anything else and then came with the bill when i was still half way with my food (saying that i should take my time). Then a moment later he showed up with the card reader, i was still not finished with my food.. Got me a little stressed to say the least. Not sure what the rush was about.. Was it the end of his shift? It's not like there were people waiting to be seated..

I'm unsure of if I've ever been to a better place. I love the food, service, atmosphere, etc. The owner takes it up a few notches by ALWAYS coming out to greet you and make you feel valued. Not to mention that their sweet tea is the absolute best, no arguments.

The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The signature drink was higher than the food and it was in a small glass. The plus is that the drink did what it was supposed to do. It tasted good and gave me a buzz, which doesn't normally happen with cocktails. I'll go back for the food.

I have to admit it... I liked the idea of this place because of its location. Then I saw the menu with its pricing and it seemed about $5-$10 more per plate than made sense. My buddy ordered the chicken plate and it was a bit on the pathetic side for the price. Then my Po'boy showed up and it looked good. Then my wife's seafood fries arrived and well, my opinion changed a bit. My buddy still says "over priced but delicious". The Po'boy and seafood fries were absolutely delicious. The drink prices aren't listed. My wife and I had 2 standard drinks and combined they were $45. Surprising and unpleasant...but they were delicious so your call.

After searching online for what felt like an eternity for a place that all 8 of my family members would agree on my brother in law chose Nonno's. We found parking right away, we were seated immediately upon entering. Zero complaints here! Everything we ordered tasted great, my husband ordered another cup of gumbo after finishing the first one he loved it so much. Our son who is the pickiest eater I've ever known asked if we could go back the next day for breakfast! The poboys were perfect, bread was not hard or crunchy and tasted amazing. The staff is the most warm and welcoming group at any establishment I've ever dined at. The waitress Was so cute and friendly and hugged my sister in law and daughter goodbye as we were leaving. Needless to say, my brother in law chose the Best Place for us to have dinner after all!

Our experience here was pretty great. We were in town for a wedding and stayed in this neighborhood. We ate dinner at Nonno's and then breakfast on another day. There were 8 of us at each meal and together, we tried most things on the menu. Everyone's food was fantastic. The service too, fantastic. While in town we ate at many other restaurants, some of them very pricey; Nonno's was as good as the best of them and way better than most. Go!!

I was debating posting this because I don’t want the secret to be out; this amazing place is walking distance from my house! Nonno’s is the real deal. In a sea of outsider run tourist traps, Nonno’s is a remaining true New Orleans run restaurant with real New Orleans home cooking. They have one of the most delicious breakfasts and brunches in the city (I haven’t even been for dinner yet!). We often get the shrimp and grits and the French toast and fried chicken, all of which is astounding. Chef Shermond is a consummate gentleman who routinely checks in on all of his clients. You really are missing out if you don’t come here. The poor reviews are basically about people being upset they had to wait for brunch on the busiest days of the year, so ignore them; the food is delicious and the staff make you feel like they’re taking care of you at their own house. Salam Shermond! (This review got the approval of my wife who is pregnant and from New Orleans, so if that doesn’t sway you I don’t know what will 😉)

The chef came out and talked to us. When we told him everything was excellent, he smiled and said, "Thank you". I had the fried oyster po'boy, my son had the roast beef po'boy, my wife had the spicy sausage po'boy, and my daughter had the chef salad. It was all delicious. I really don't think you can go wrong with anything you eat here. Also ... the sweet tea was the best I've ever had in a restaurant. In fact, the only sweet tea I've ever had that is better is the sweet tea my grandmother used to make. Also... Leona Tate ate here! The atmosphere and service are also top notch. Showed up during the first week of Mardi Gras with a group of 8 (close to their last seating) and they were kind enough to fit us all in. 221222 update: I think they've moved, but Google Maps had no problem finding them. Stopped by for breakfast, and wound up with shrimp and cheese grits and a fabulous conversation with the bartender. And Lonnie is still with them so say hello when you see him! I had a cup of gumbo and half an oyster poboy and the seafood egg rolls, and everything was incredible. Service was amazing, and when you go, say hello to Lonnie. Parking is a little weird because the road is under construction, but you can park in the median right across from the entrance. Oh, and rumor has it, the seafood topped baked potato is amazing, as are their drink specials.

Some how the chef preformed a miracle and turned chicken strips and waffles into rubber. You want chicken and waffles go to mommas house in the east. 2) The grits needed salt. And they forgot to bring salt and pepper to the table. This is not a slight against them just an explanation of why we couldn’t salt them ourselves. NOW FOR THE TWO STARS 🌟🌟 THE FRENCH TOAST!!!! It’s just good! That’s it. The little chicken wings that come with it…. We’ll just maybe bring your own side of chicken from Manchus to the table…. I’m joking. But that would be funny. Hehe. AND THE CRAWFISH FRIES. This cheesy crawfish etouffee needs to be on everything. 1) smothered breakfast burrito! Drop that etouffee all over the burrito. Also just two eggs biscuit and etouffee. Over priced for such small portions,catfish Po'bot should have at least a whole filet on it and a few two. But bare bones a full filet with all the fixings. But this was half a filet cut down in half to fill the baget not a French loaf. So,No this let me hungry and unsatisfied both due to cost and size of my meal. Out of the way, hard to find, but well worth the effort. It is on the small side for restaurants. However there are a few tables on the patio (sidewalk) if that interests you. Staff were wonderful. Managed my family's confusing order with ease. Even if you are not desiring a sit down meal. Their drip coffee is quite good. I can see sitting outside, reading a book while enjoying several cups over an afternoon.

I ordered the shrimp and grits with a side of French Toast & let me tell you something. NOTHING COMPARES! The customer service was top tier above the rest. As soon as you open the door, you’re welcomed with a smile & greeting. That alone made me the happiest. I LOVE good customer service. But, back to my plate, I’m not a huge onion and bell peppers girl unless it’s cooked all the way down, but it mixed so well with the cheese grits. The shrimp was actually fresh and cooked perfectly. Now, that French Toast, truly mouth watering. Even the regular toast was really good. I didn’t have to add jelly nor butter. I can’t wait to visit again! 12/10, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Nonno's Cajun Cuisine and Pastries is a fairly new addition to New Orleans Restaurant lineup! The food here is superb. Nonno's serves breakfast all day. Very good Creole treats like homemade French toast actually made with real poboy bread and the batter is so good that you can actually taste the ingredients and it is very moist and crispy. Oh, I want some right now! French toast is addicting! The Shrimp and Grits are actually delicious! I never order Shrimp and Grits from restaurants, but I tasted my Husbands order, the dish was superbly tasty!! Shrimp were prepared just right and the creamy, Garlicky, cheese sauce has just the right measurements of each ingredient so that the cream sauce does not overpower the flavor of the shrimp or the buttery grits. Oh my goodness, the fried chicken wings served with a nice sized, delectable Waffle is to live for! Those chicken wings are seasoned to perfection and you can actually chew the meat. Crispy but not hard crispy. The Waffle has flavor. Well I can go on and on, but you need to go over to Nonno's and enjoy the mystical flavorings of New Orleans!

Like John Wayne Gacy without all the clowning around. I don’t know how they do it. I even got the shrimp burrito because I just couldn’t get enough of their food. Me and my man order the shrimp and grits and French toasted turkey patty and scrambled eggs. The shrimp and grits was a good plate of food so I wouldn’t order French toast plate on the side because it was a lot for me to eat but my man ate it all and he also order the veggie egg omelet and it was long and thick so that was also a lot and he ate it all too. All the food sizing is GREAT the prices are worth the food he makes the chef is really nice and it shows he loves his food and love cooking. He also will be doing a little Christmas basket for people who don’t want to cook for Christmas dinner and I will be getting my hands on those baskets. My son and I was able to visit this lovely restaurant on 9/25/2020 and oh boy were we in for a treat! Let me start off by saying that the staff was so amazingly friendly and went out of there way to make sure we had everything we wanted (because we were greedy, well I was🤭). The restaurant was very neat and clean, there was a gorgeous mural of Alvin Kamara on the wall(Who Dat, im such a fan). How many times can you go into a restaurant and meet the CHEF 🤭🤗, he was so nice and friendly and real, and I could tell he is very passionate about cooking. We had the shrimp plate with shrimp and crawfish pasta, everything tasted so delicious, the shrimp was so big and juicy with flavor from the shrimp to the breading, even the salad was to die for very tasty, and that pasta will make you round house your entire family 😂🤣. We will definitely be returning very soon!! Geaux Saints!!!
