Reviews of Mr. Ed's Oyster Bar & Fish House, Bienville

We ordered a dozen iced raw oysters, a dozen charbroiled oysters, and the Creole Combo for a party of four adults. The oysters were massive and we absolutely loved the raw oysters but the charbroiled oysters really take the cake here. The buttery, garlicy, cheesy, crispy oysters were to die for and we were all fighting for the last remaining on pieces on the plate! The Creole Combo was decent but was definitely overshadowed by the oysters. I'd recommend getting the Creole Combo if you want a sampler of some New Orleans classics.
The service was a little slow but the staff was very friendly and happy to answer any questions we had about the menu.

A must try. The charbroiled oysters were spot on and yummy af. We ordered the fried alligator which were okay. They were a little chewy which I did not like. But maybe that’s how the meat tastes. The creole gumbo was really yummy. I’d go again.

The food was done well. The blackened red snapper was the best dish we had there. The fish was cooked perfectly. The bed of vegetables below the fish were cooked yet still had a little crunch. The charbroiled oysters are the best I've had on this trip. They are big and plump with the right amount of butter, garlic, and parmesan cheese. You can still taste the oyster. The jambalaya pasta was good but compared to the other items it didn't stand a chance. Big plump shrimp and a lightly smoked sausage make it a good treat.

Best place in the Quarter for charbroiled oysters (I've been to sooo many places). Great food, large portions and compared to other more popular and well-known places, prices are equal to or less than those. The oysters on my fried fish and oyster platter were some of the largest, sweetest and plentiful. We're used to paying the same price for half as much at other establishments
We had great service, we sat at the bar which is our favorite place to sit at most establishments. Our bartender was super friendly, funny as hell, and fast. He not only kept us entertained but as the only bartender on tonight, kept up with the constant stream of drink tickets, most heavily with the popular NOLA cocktails but he knew by heart other cocktails that he delivered quickly.
We really enjoyed watching the interaction of the servers and staff with him and the other customers. Everyone was friendly and efficient with one exception who seemed to be having an off night. The manager wasn't happy and did take her aside. Other than the one server, we enjoyed the joking and banter between the staff and what appeared to be local regulars.

Their brevile and rocker fella oysters are delightful. Nice and warm with great flavor. We shared a seafood platter and shrimp and fish platter both very large with a good portion sizes. Their calamari was very small but tasty.

The food and drinks here are excellent at very fair prices. Everything tasted fresh and was nice and hot when they arrived at the table, with generous portions. My party ordered the char broiled oysters and they were especially delicious. This was the first restaurant we went to when we first arrived to New Orleans and I highly recommend anyone to eat here. The wait staff are very friendly and welcoming and always have good recommendations when you can't decide what to eat. But rest assured, anything you order will be great.

Stopped in on the Sunday of essence and surprisingly, there was not a big crowd. We were seated and greeted immediately. I ordered the paneed trout, but I didn’t know what paneed meant. It’s not something I would get again but it was not bad at all. The veggies and the potatoes did need a little seasoning but overall, it was good.
The charbroiled oysters were good. Next time I would just ask that they not cook them for so long. The charbroil flavor was stronger on some when compared with others.

The decoration is nice. The gumbo is amazing. We didn’t loved the food (creole sampler and crab cake shrimp pasta). We didn’t like the fact that they charge a s/c of 3,26$ if you pay with credit card.
For the price we paid for 2 persons, I recommend find somewhere else to eat.

Our waiter was amazing. I had the Jumbalya Pasta and it was perfect. Could feel the heat but it was not overwhelming. One of my table mates chose the Crab Cake Pasta and it was also very tasty and creamy. My other table mate had the Seafood nachos, and they were also delicious. We topped our meal off with the bread pudding and it was one of the tastiest bread puddings ever.

We were here on 2/7/2022 for my birthday celebration and went back on 2/8/200. Service is top notch. Manager is excellent! Food was amazing. Oysters are the best in town. Get the char-broiled ones. We were last there 5 years ago and loved it and it only got better. Atmosphere is so very today and comfortable. Eat here. You will not be disappointed.
