Reviews of Maypop

Maypop is a modern, creative restaurant that fuses Southern and Asian cuisines. The menu is pleasantly short and changes every few weeks. My partner and I shared the summer melon salad, the toasted marrow bone topped with Georgia peach curry, and the homemade wok-fried egg noodles with jumbo gulf shrimp. All three dishes were delicious, like the Maypop pie for dessert. Highly recommended if you're looking for a refined and somewhat upscale dining experience.

My favorite restaurant in New Orleans was Maypop! The blend of Asian flavors and dishes fused with classic Louisiana food left me speechless! Each dish was beautifully crafted by Executive Chef Michael Gulotta, with the perfect balance of spices and flavor.
My favorite dish of the night which is a must order is the Blue Crab Dumplings. They are topped with a delicious coconut milk and mushroom sauce bringing SO much flavor to the dish.
The service was wonderful and the vibe was perfect for a fun Friday night out!

I love all the flavors of these creative dishes! I was a bit disappointed in the crispy oysters because they weren’t very crispy but they were still good. The noodles were delicious as was the fish! I love the amuse bouche and complimentary little desserts they bring out for you, tasty lagniappe! It’s just a bit pricey because it’s not all that filling.

What an INCREDIBLE restaurant!!!! I’m a solo traveller and was so excited to come here. Gutted that I could only order for 1 because I would’ve loved to try every dish!
The food here is so unique and I loved the ingredients and combination of flavours. I’ve not eaten anything like this back home in London. The fried catfish was beautiful (I rarely ever see catfish on a menu), and the sticky pork was out of this world. The bread is exceptional. (@diningnotdashing)

The menu is undoubtedly unique, with a combination of native New Orleans cuisine enhanced by the chef's travels/experiences in Asia. You definitely cannot find the same pairing of tastes and textures elsewhere. Each course has an incredible balance of flavors - rich sauces complimented by something tangy and fresh. The attention to detail, service attitude and knowledge, and creativity are top tier. It's a must-go in NOLA for any food enthusiasts, I especially loved the bone marrow appetizer.

Overall great place for dinner! Came here on a Monday evening with prior reservations so we were seated right away. It’s a modern and chic feel to the restaurant.
Food was good—top favorites were Roasted Marrow Bone Topped with Georgia Peach Curry, Wok Fried Sticky Pork Shoulder, and Crispy Fried Oysters. The Hand-Pulled Lamian Noodles with Louisiana Blue Crab and Cambodian Marinated Skirt Steak were okay too. For dessert, try the Expresso Martini and the Halo Halo—both yummy!

Maypop is always a unique and delicious dining experience. Great happy hour, we took advantage of $6 glasses of wine and the steak steamed bun app. Fried oysters and Bibb lettuce salad were super tasty, as were our entrees. Will be back!

The experience was amazing. The second we walked in, the host made us feel special. Honestly the interaction made my day. The waitress was incredibly helpful, and service was prompt. Dessert was delicious. My husband's enjoyed their food.
My one complaint is that there was surprise cilantro in my dish. If you have the cilantro tastes like soap gene, make sure to ask about cilantro. The server asked if we had sensitivities, and I said no, so it was definitely my fault. Just a heads up that cilantro is not always marked in the menut.

A group of my friends and I picked this place on a whim. We knew it was Asian fusion but didn't realize that some of the food had Southeast Asian flare. In particular Cambodian flavors. We all ordered a bunch of plates and liked every single one. The least we liked was the chicken wings, but it didn't stop us from enjoying ourselves. The atmosphere was nicely designed and the staff was wonderful. Southern charm they say.

I visited this place to surprise my sister whom I had met over the phone in April, but never in person. Thanks to a hometown friend she made it possible. The restaurant looks homie from outside but its very acceptable inside. It was very well kept with tables waiting for patrons. They have a ooen bar as well. The bathrooms are cleaned & up to date. I entered & waited while talking to Jeremy the host & sharing with him the plans. He was very polite & was willing to help with accommodating us at a bigger table once the surprise took place. Yes, she was surprise & shock, so she say she knew something was up. The food & drinks was awesome. The waiter was excellent. I had a fried catfish dish that had some tangy sauce that was perfect. I also had fried shrimp with fries, which the batter was too hard & was not needed. The shrimp was big & juicy. We were able to order a couple of dishes & shared amongst us 5. The cook is on point with seasoning & texture. Everything was cooked perfect.

Amazing food and service. Michael gulotta out did himself once again. It’s always a treat to eat his food. This specific menu was something very special. The snails melted in your mouth and the pasta was perfectly Al-dente. Tons of fresh bright flavors followed a rich savory finish. Our server was super knowledgeable and we were taken care of our whole meal. It was as if my Italian grandma was raised in the country side of Thailand or India. Explosions of flavors you’ve never imagined. The orange slice with the radish and jalepeno as you sink your teeth into the creamy filled blue crab dumpling was best bite I’ve had this year, and a must try if your visiting maypop.

A must eat in Nola. Wow. Amazing noodles, ridiculously tender fish, and excellent bread. Complimentary amuse Bouche and chocolates were a really nice touch. Ashlen B. went above and beyond for birthday dinner and was truly an excellent server.

In a sea of restaurants that are [more or less] putting out the same types of food, it is guaranteed you will find completely unique and incredible eats at Maypop.
I’m not even sure what you’d classify this type of food. Definitely Asian fusion but it’s simply better than that. Everything here is simply delicious and unexpected.
New Orleans needs restaurants like this.
Thomas Lewis
Everything was delicious, fresh, and interesting. Staff was amazingly knowledgeable and attentive, knew all the dishes and ingredients. I’d recommend this place for anyone coming to NOLA.
Sophie Collett
I can’t remember having a more delicious meal! Such an interesting Asian inspired menu. It’s small menu which I personally like and everything we had was done so well. I would go back to New Orleans just for this!!
Drew Hollomon
This was a phenomenal experience. I am so glad that we found Maypop on Google maps. We couldn't find anything that jumped out at us, being we were in NOLA and there was a ton of stuff. Some of the best food I've ever had! The creativity...the fusion between creole and Thai flavors lends to a truly inspired menu. Would recommend 10/10 if you are in NOLA!
Katerina Coops
Excellent meal, great service, a bit above average price-wise and smaller portions as you'd come to expect in a good restaurant. If that is what you are looking for, well worth it. Oh and the cocktails are great :)
Kaitlin Murphy
We had an amazing experience dining at Maypop! The sweet corn Tom Yum noodles were so delicious and probably our favorite dish there. The staff were attentive and even gave us a little appetizer and two little dessert caramels on the house. A beautiful well decorated space as well and wasn’t crowded!
Tasha Canyon
Reservations were easy to make online. We enjoyed the surprising flavors of Cajun Asian fusion. The menu, although seemingly small, provided us with some great deep flavors. The portions were not huge but with each course, we were able to enjoy every morsel. By the end of our dinner we felt very satisfied. The ambience was delightful. Parking was plentiful. The servers were helpful and friendly. We can’t wait to go back, especially when they start serving dim sum again. I recommend the Maypop pie and the four year old ham (aged in house prosciutto). Delicious.

Possibly one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. I was in New Orleans for a work trip and didn't realize I needed to make a reservation, but they were able to seat me at the bar. Staff was very friendly, especially the host, and the food was incredible. I had the shrimp and noodle dish and I'm usually not that impressed with shrimp, but this was tender and flavorful and the turmeric curry sauce was amazing. In addition to what I chose off the menu they also brought out a mini-appetizer and an after dinner chocolate. Definitely check this place out, but be sure to make a reservation!
Paola Macrini
With no doubt Maypop was our best meal in NOLA.
I loved everything, especially the asian-creol fusion style in both location and food. We had noodles, duck breast and an amazing dessert. Everything was on point and I would go back with no hesitation if I was in town. My advice is don't miss this place if you are a foodie.
Phil Wingo
A outstanding meal.
Myself and 8 others in culinary industry.
Went in on a Sunday evening.
Ordered 2 of everything on menu.
It was a feast.

Every bite brought tears to my eyes. Service was attentive. Drinks excellent. Food perfect. I would honestly be content flying back home after just having had that dinner.
Mike Hall
Upscale dining with delicious unique dishes.
The food here is super tasty and brings together flavours that really complement eachother. You are served with a couple of light bites to start off with on the house which is a nice touch. Also, you are given 2 very small but delightful chocolate coffee gooey fudges to finish up after your meal.
Our starters were amazing and 10/10, with the mains following very close behind. Cocktails were original and well executed and service was attentive.
Dropping a star for the dessert, lacking the finess of the other dishes where the look of the dish came higher than the eat.
Jesse Balaity
One of the most enjoyable all around dining experiences I have had in New Orleans after living there for a decade and returning many times to visit. The host greeted us with so much enthusiasm (and cool shoes!) setting the perfect mood for a fun dinner. Our server - let's just say we wanted kidnap her and keep all of her bubbly charm and hospitality for ourselves. Each app and entree was better than the next, with vibrant flavors and perfect presentation. The space was so beautiful we didn't want to leave.
Spencer Cofield
The restaurant setting was nice, but the food was just mediocre at best. I expected a little more food and was disappointed with the portion size. I ended up trying the braised beef pasta. Very tasty but for $21 I expected a little more. I left the restaurant still hungry.
Sarah Leipold
These look like small plates, but they are not. We left stuffed. Eggplant pasta was the best past I've ever had. Yummy and chill place to get a break from the french quarter/bourbon street.
Sresan Thevarajah
Exceptional food and exceptional service. Everything we had was really good and I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in town.

I always seem to visit Maypop before attending sporting events or concerts in the area, and I’ve yet to be let down. Top-notch, friendly service and consistent, tasty food have been guarantees for me over the course of several years. It can definitely be overlooked considering its proximity to the Dome and an atmosphere not conformant to the typical New Orleans style, but it is a great change of pace from creole food. American food and they always find a great way to bring curry to the party. Lastly, I have more than once walked away thinking “those bartenders were great”.
Gabriel Grant
Truly superb! Everything about this restaurant experience was perfect! The staff was friendly and inviting. The food... oh my... the food was exceptional! The bone marrow appetizer is a must!!! This place is really something special!
Andrew Haas
This is a fine dinning experience. Food, service, drinks all on point amazing. Price with dessert and drinks is about $60 a person. The service and presentation make this quite a value. Food is really good. It’s always changing so no recommendations just get what sounds good.
Nicole Cundiff
We (a couple from rural Idaho) with gluten allergies, just flew in and picked the place due to closeness to our hotel. It was just phenomenal. Exactly what we are always looking for in a restaurant when we travel away from home. Fresh. Flavor profiles off the charts. Fantastic Service - thanks Joey!
JP Mei
We had a big party of 10. Food is flavorful, but dishes are on the smaller side. Service and staff is great. Restaurant is at the quieter side of town. Music is a bit loud for a big table like ours but likely comfortable for a table of 4 l.
Eric Tucker
I usually don't rate when things don't go well, but this was different.
I was with my client and coworkers. The drinks and appetizer were good. I ordered the duck, and 5 minutes later was told they ran out, so I got the swordfish. The food was good, when we received them: 25-30 minutes after ordering, and the other 2 received their meals a few minutes after the appetizer. It wasn't just the length, but the stories that went along with it.
When the manager came over, I explained the situation. She understood and comped our portion.
Not sure if it was a fluke or it's normal, but I wouldn't come back.
Rajeev Majumdar
Wow, this restaurant is well staffed, attentive, and all the dishes are well constructed and perfection!
Trish A Tovar
My BF and I were there for HH, and it was very very good. I loved my drink the "Pika Pika" was excellent. Please be aware the HH is only for the drinks they have on the HH menu. If you go there and order a vodka tonic(any vodka such as kettle) it can run you to 12 + per drink. Food was great. I would recommend the pork belly appetizer as well as the Fish dish.
Christopher Gross
Delicious food and a chic atmosphere. We enjoyed the pork shoulder and the lamb shoulder for dinner, and the creme brulee and some kind of coffee chocolate mousse for dessert.
Would highly recommend coming here!

We celebrated my friends birthday at Maypop and it was the best choice to highlight her special day. This has to be my very first restaurant review where I highlight the staff before the food! Don’t get me wrong the food was delicious but more on that later….
From the warm welcome of the Host, Jeremy to the attentiveness of the General Manager Martynique! Everyone we encountered during our visit had that “We’re happy you’re here.” vibe. The atmosphere was perfect to chat and enjoy the company of old and new friends alike. I totally forgot to take pictures, as I was totally locked, savoring the moment.
It’s very rare to have such an attentive GM offering food and wine pairings. Martynique suggested the bibb salad, bone marrow, swordfish, and Cambodian marinated steak. Our entrees were plated beautifully with nice serving sizes, and served at the appropriate temperature. Each dish was packed with flavor. The wine pairings suggested definitely enhanced the dining experience.
Maypop is now my most recommended restaurant in the City. Can’t wait to go back and try lunch.
Jonathan Perok
This food is amazing. The fat guy in me wishes the portions were bigger but I didn't have a bad bite. Starters to finishers were great. Had the oysters, calamari, Lamian, and Expresso martini. All great. Go for it. You only live once.
Anya
For the price and the expectations based on reviews, Maypop was sadly disappointing. I had the caramel glazed pork shoulder which had a nice taste, but the pork was fairly tough to chew and the combination with the salad was kind of boring. Others at the table agreed that their food was fine, but disappointing overall. Our server was not very attentive and left us sitting with empty plates and a dessert menu for 20+ minutes. So overall ok, but too expensive for ok.
Adam M
Want an amazing meal? Then don't pass this excellent restaurant up!! Went specifically on a Saturday to get the dim sum. It is served only on Sat. and Sun. for brunch/lunch service. I Highly recommend going here for the dim sum. I ate every single thing pictured by myself and it was so delicious. I will always spend my money here. Not only is the food fantastic, but the service is also high quality, and they will take very good care of you. I will be back. Enjoy these photos and I hope they make you hungry :)
Nik Kontrimas
Amazingly unique food. I found many elements of SE Asian flavors in the dishes and they were done great, but then the chef adds a spin to bring NOLA cuisine into the dish to make it unique. We tried 2 dishes from each section of the menu and enjoyed them all. Definitely give this place a recommend because of its uniqueness you can’t find elsewhere.

We had an amazing experience and meal here celebrating a friend's birthday. The staff is on point. Very accommodating to larger parties. Food, drinks, presentation of the food and the ambience are top notch. The restaurant itself is very beautiful and serene. Definitely recommend this place. The food is unique and delicious at the same time. Sometimes, when a chef decides to go out of the box and mix flavors or gets too fancy, the food suffers, but this is not the case at MAYPOP. Superb job with the menu items! Very creative and scrumptious!
Yu Quan Cao
I really enjoyed this place. The waiter was so nice and friendly. The restaurant gave complementary appetizer and dessert bites. The texture of the noodles were just perfect. I wasn't to crazy about the garganelli's tomato red curry, luckily it was on the side.
Johnny Torres
So from start to finish of our meal ! All great experience! The food was amazing. We seen the Chef at our Chefs convention. The bone marrow appetizer and the crab appetizer, were so delicious!! The plating of the dishes were very nice. Also the waitress knew the menu back to front!!! Awesome experience. A must to eat at when in town
Maryann LaSalle
Fabulous food and service. Our waitress, Sarah was lovely. The quail was wonderful. We loved it so much, we ate there two nights of our 6 nights in NO.
Stanley John
This fusion restaurant totally surprised me. Four dim sum dishes made two grown men comfortably full. The flavors and textures were all unique and satisfying. From smoky to steamed to crunchy. A full range of joys for our palates. Did I mention delicious? Never bland and never too spicy. Sure there’s some heat, but fear not. (Not pictured was the apple “cake” a deconstructed dessert with apple cake, pralines, raisin granola & brown butter ice cream. As soon as I saw it I was confused and disappointed but the first bite changed my mind. A total winner and shockingly not as sweet as you’d imagine. Give this place a try, allow yourself such Joy.
Graeme Crawford
Fantastic. The perfect Asian/Cajun blend across a delightful menu of carefully executed and balanced flavors.
Really neat modern interior, I had exemplary service at the bar for lunch and couldn't believe how low the check was given the quality of the food and experience.
Yokesh R
Crazy Mardi gras along with heavy rain forced us into this restaurant. And first we thought it may not be a place for us. We couldn't be more wrong. I loved the ambience - sleek and upscale. A very welcoming host made it difficult to just turn back. We finally got a table and the menu was provided. Ooh it was pricey but the food seemed unique. Decided to try all the chicken dish and the desert section. The food was just superb. So much flavors and finesse about the food ☺️ My wife for once fell in love with the Italian food. Just an amazing experience in all.
Jade
Service was great! Food was definitely not for me but my other two friends enjoyed their food. Lunch menu is very limited and we got a fancy bottle of water. Kind of a class environment so if you like vitanamesse, Italian, and Cajun food all mixed into one this is the place for you.
Hayden T
If you're looking for an upscale place that has affordable pricing Maypop is for you. The service was extremely good. The waiter gave frequent refills and helped up navigate the menu. The food was to die for. I highly recommend ordering the bread service. I think the coolest part of the experience was the little tastes of things on the menu they brought us while we waited for our food.
Lisa Heindel
I absolutely loved this place! We went on a Saturday afternoon when the dim sum menu was offered and will definitely make a return trip. Tasty cocktails, small plates that allowed us to share several different items - perfect for a nice, leisurely lunch.
Stephanie Simms
Unique dim sum. This was a rare occasion where EVERYTHING on the menu sounded awesome. I wanted to try all of it and we made a pretty good effort. I was not disappointed by anything. The highlight for us was the lamb dish but each dish was surprising and so delicious.
Lana Williams
Overall really liked this place. Fopd presentation was beautiful! The fried oysters were a little too spicy for my liking and that is the only reason for the 4 stars. Everything else was delightful.
Shawn “Foodie for Thought” Hayes
Ok- you definitely need to give Maypop a try if you are a foodie. This place has an excellent menu with eclectic dishes that blend Asian, Cajun, Southern and healthy styles.
Their happy hour is a great way to test the menu out and have a Ginger Smash cocktail ($6), one of their signature drinks. I had several!
The Seafood TomYum was outstanding and not too large so I was able to explore the menu more.
If you want to have a great meal swing by and try it out- you won’t be disappointed!!
Tave Fitzpatrick
Personally I like the apps better then the entrees. Wings & oysters are really good and get the hot sausage steam bun for happy hour. Usually not packed during the weekdays. Solid drink options as well.
Mallessa Y
Since it was my first time here I went with the popular items that the waiter suggested. They give you a mini curry beignet to start and wow it was really good.
For starter I got the Crispy Fried Oysters from P&J Oyster House. The oysters were crispy and had a really spicy, interesting flavor. I really like the soy aioli and the cheese that goes with it. It honestly had me wanting more!
The waiter suggested the Corn Meal Pasta with Coconut Milk Alfredo and Curried Blue Crab. The flavors for this pasta was not as interesting as I thought for the price I was paying. The serving size was pretty small.
For dessert I ordered the Dark Chocolate Cremeaux and it was sooo amazing! The flavors goes so well with each other.
To close the meal a server gave me a piece of matcha powdered with chocolate...
The atmosphere itself is contemporary and I love the aesthetics! I think the food overall was good, service was great! But the menu is a little on the overpriced side. I recommend coming here if you're adventurous and wanna try a twist in Southern-Asian fusion.

We were recommended this restaurant by our guide on a food tour and decided to try it out. They had some difficulty taking down our number correctly and so we had a forty minute wait for our reservation, but they gave us four orders of complimentary appetizers which more than made up for it. The food was excellent - some very different takes on classic New Orleans flavors. Everything on the menu was delicious; our favorites were the roast duck which also had a very generous portion size and the squid ink ravioli.
Marcus K.
Excellent place for a meal. They do a great job of fusing various flavors and styles into their own. We had fried oysters and fried soft shell crab. Hard for me to describe but they were unique and way above average of what you get anywhere else.
Besides the two dishes we ordered, they gave us two additional freebies. First came a small savory beignet topped with foam. And at the end came out two small chocolate delights.
Excellent. Don’t miss this unique restaurant.
Brian Ferdman
Remarkably creative Asian-Creole fusion dishes are the calling card of this more elegant sister restaurant to Mopho. The flavors and presentation will knock your socks off, and you'll probably have to ask a lot of questions about the exotic ingredients. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant, one of my favorites in a city that does fine dining like none other.
Rex Bell
My wife and two children visited in June of 2022, but unfortunately my youngest son became ill and made a huge mess on the table. No fault to the restaurant. He just happened to get sick at that time. Our server was Ashlyn. (Hope I spelled it right) The server was very helpful with the whole ordeal as my wife and I were both very embarrassed and disappointed that we had to leave without getting to try the restaurant we had heard such great things about. Long story short, my wife and I were able to return to New Orleans (without children) on 1/17/23 and were finally able to try this place. We had the same server. I am glad we did because Ashlyn was outstanding as well as the food. We had a wonderful experience and I cannot think of a better experience in recent memory. Everything we had was impeccable. Thank you to the entire staff at Maypop for putting up with us twice. My only suggestion for improvement would be to hire an in house body builder ,to open the champagne table side. Cant wait to return. This is a must stop for us from now on.
DS B
What a treasure, we had the best experience! Shawn took such great care of us, the food was amazing (in a wonderfully surprising way), and the ambiance was cool.
Bucatini was great, chili crab was delicious (spicy though - much more so than the traditional found in Singapore - we used some of the sauce with the bucatini and it was awesome!), oysters were delicious, and the pork shoulder was good (a lot of fat though - two slices were pure fat and a good portion of each of the other slices were too, but it was a very tasty dish).
One side note: the hostess was very rude. We made a reservation via OpenTable for 9:30p (the last reservation offered on the site is 945 and the restaurant “closes”/stops seating at 10). At 9:27p, three minutes before our reservation, we got a call from the hostess asking if we were coming; I told her we were a block away. *If you don’t want people to dine 30 minutes prior to “closing,” don’t offer the reservation slot on OpenTable! When we walked in at 9:30, there were only two tables seated (with about 30 empty tables) and she tried to seat us at a pub table/high top with a window on one side and a pillar/wall behind one of the two chairs; we asked for a normal sized and height table and she smirked. It was bizarre. Why would anyone seat a guest at the tiniest, most confining, restrictive table in a restaurant when the restaurant is practically empty? Punishment for dining late? Whatever. We looked at the menu online and ordered promptly and asked for everything at once so the kitchen could close (at that point we felt so unwelcome and almost left, but are glad we stayed because the food was great!). And, BTW, we were not the last table to leave, so some courtesy on the hostess’s end could have been afforded.
Victor He
I'll be honest, the place looks fancy and so do the clientele. The food looks appetizing and it is. The price point for the size? Not so much. I'm paying $30 for an entree that doesn't even fill up the plate, see for yourself. If you're a food person that's into eating a bite and is content, this is the place for you. For the hungry guys like me, best avoid this place
William Dalton
When you live in New Orleans, good dining times are expected, but exciting and fun dining added to great food always makes the event MUCH MORE MEMORABLE
The atmosphere is comfortable and the service team very on top of everything. (there is a unique wall map that you have to see yourself to believe)
We ordered cocktails and the oyster appetizer to start. We knew we were in for a great meal! All of the courses ordered were new and delicious. Chef Micheal is also a partner in the organization. He even popped out of the kitchen to check in with us. As noon approached, the place filled up nicely. Even with a good crowd having a nice time, the noise level was never an issue.
We have had friends tell us Maypop was great. We are now huge fans and we have already made brunch reservations for a couple of weeks from now.
Darryl Shorts
Maypop was a wonderful foodie experience. The multi-course meal experience is always something special to me and Maypop, really does a fantastic job of executing it. This was my first time visiting this restaurant but I can assure you, it won't be my last!
Prepaid Champ
They should call it the Kung Fu as my taste buds were getting tossed around all night long...and they liked it! The surprising blend of Creole/Cajun dishes w Vietnamese components was very welcome and not something seen too often. I enjoyed the sweet flavor profiles hidden between the savory profiles combined together to create constant flavor explosions. Basically the food was yum ,it was slightly provocative and always surprising. The service is also impeccable and highly recommend this place to all.
Greg Dubya
Wonderful dining experience. We came in for our 10th anniversary meal. Great amuse bouche, oyster with squid ink appetizer, squid ink fusilli pasta dish, hand pulled noodles with mapo sauce, gelato with coconut macaroons, and after dinner caramel. Wonderful fusion of flavors. I would suggest a pinch more Sichuan peppercorn in the mapo sauce to give it a bit more authentic heat.
kay arnold
We had a great lunch here! And the service was fantastic. Not to mention they brought us a free small bite before our meal and homemade caramels at the end of our meal. Yumm!
Madiha Khan
This place is amazing. The small plates during happy hour are inventive, delicious and delivered with flare. And the drinks are excellent too. On top of that the service is really fantastic - you should definitely pop down!!
Jessica Liang
My favorite NOLA restaurant! So much flavors!!!! Get the calamari!!! Cool decor and nice staff!! Would recommend.
My favorite was the fried chicken but everything was delicious
Kindra Roy
This place was amazing! From the atmosphere to the food! The service was outstanding! The food was so fresh and like nothing I've ever tasted! Definitely memorable! Very handicapped friendly once you get into the restaurant! The parking lot was tricky but I made it! Pictured * complimentary curry beignet, crispy fried oysters, soup dumplings, The Badoin which was like a cheese boudin stuffed bread, shrimp stuffed mirliton, wok fried egg noodles with curry shrimp and complimentary salted caramel dark chocolate dusted truffle!!! Perfect birthday meal!
David Go
The garganelli was absolutely fantastic! The fish was delicious and desserts were something to look forward to after a scrumptious meal.
We ordered several dishes to try and I really appreciated the waiter recognizing our gastronomic curiosity and served each dish split onto two plates. Bravo!
At the end of the meal, I made it an effort to approach the chef at the open kitchen to let him know how much we enjoyed our meal.
Karthik Narayan
Respectful staff, knowledgeable. Food was amazing, I just wish they had a few more vegetarian options. The presentation was nice too. As soon as you enter the restaurant, you will appreciate the double height space, subtle lighting and interior design. Romantic, chic and personal
Steve Moncada
I haven’t been to a place with a menu so exciting in a while. Maypop’s decor and service easily put it in 4-star territory. The food — every dish — is a huge, go-for-broke, swing-for-the-fences endeavor. Sometimes it really hits, sometimes it really misses, sometimes it’s average. In total, it’s above average... but I think this is the kind of place where “do less” would make it outstanding.
Teneha B
Great place for originally created entrees and slammingly good drinks. The staff is extraordinary friendly & give superb customer service.
You won't be bored or unpleased with anything here.
Love the décor, very trendy & super chic!!!!
Go take a load off and enjoy your Asian fusion cuisine.
cedric lee
My friend recommended this place and I'm glad she did. We shared a few small plates and shared them prior to the NBA game. It's a cool Asian-Creole fusion. You will find many New Orleans staples on the menu fuzed with Asian spices and traditions. A definite return.

This was a more upscale plays than I was expecting. I felt underdressed even though I was wearing business casual clothing. The food was very good although something that I would typically not order. Our waiter was immaculate. He was one of the most well-mannered, professional, and knowledgeable waiters I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. The food came out to us in under 10 minutes easily. The waiter was able to answer all of our questions regarding the food, the decor, the history of the restaurant, and he even had thurl knowledge of the owners backstory and the vision the owner had for the restaurant.
I would definitely go back with a date.
Alexis Winning
We came here for drinks and apps on our anniversary. It was about 5pm on Father's Day and the bar was empty so we sat there. The place is industrial clean. I loved the shelve room divider separating the bar and main dining area.
We had a fruity mojito. Its been a few weeks now, but I think it was strawberry? It was so good. We each had two!
They brought out something at the start and finished with a little beignet. The beignet had that asian creole fusion that made our appetizers droolworthy. It is a newer restaurant but I highly recommend it!
Jason Broom
Maypop is definitely one of the best restaurants in New Orleans. They are creating dishes and flavors that can not be found anywhere else. If you are looking for something different to eat then your average NOLA cusine this is the place to go. #Geauxeat
Fabiola Campoblanco
Out of this world good. I had these shrimp curry noodles, and we got three different types of desserts and they were all amazing!!!
Lushanda
The food was amazing, taste was great and the quality of the food was good. The service was great. Just different in a good way.
Masha Jenkins
Great food. The portions are rather small, but each dish was packed with flavor! The server gave our table a complementary desserts! Would come again. 😁 …
Katrina Polacek
The most amazing experience we had visiting New Orleans. The service from Turner was amazing and everything we ordered was just as amazing. Would highly recommend this place hands down!
Thanks for the wonderful evening!
Alex Avalos
Was t expecting to enjoy this place as much as I did. The attention to detail in these infused dishes shines through! Noodles and Thai inspirations oh my! Yes please!
Ham burglar
Confident flavor profiles colliding with deviations from dishes you think you know create wonderful new taste bombs that explode with every chew you take. The chef describes it as Local Cajun blended with Vietnamese (another large part of the genetic makeup of the NOLA community) to create dishes that remind you of home while simultaneously transporting you to other flavor worlds. The sweet is often hidden amongst the Chefs Tasting Menu ala local home grown Peaches and balanced by local homegrown tomatoes to create flavor combos you think you recall (one dish w peach nut and tomatoes, when eaten together reminded me of general Tso's Sweet n Sour). It was surprises like this that left us all impressed. The service here is Grade A and we had the great pleasure of having Michael as our server / food confidante.
This is a new staple for us and a must go anytime we are in NOLA. Chef Michael and his team really provided us w a magical experience and we are lifelong fans now
Nick Brooks
Outstanding, the best food dining experience we had during our trip. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable, her recommendations were impeccable and the overall ambience of the place was vibrant, yet relaxed.
The food, wow. The oyster appetiser with bourbon aged soy glaze was phenomenal. We were given a few amuse bouchés which was a nice surprise, the seafood beignet was delicious. The tom yum entree was perfect from start to finish, delicious seafood and a nice spicy kick. I'd go back here in a heartbeat, a nice lighter Asian take on often heavy and rich creole indulgence!
Bee “Bee” Nicole
The atmosphere was unique, the service amazing, and the food indescribable! I wish I had enough room for dessert because all of the options were things I would never have thought to pair. There house made Ginger Beer is to die for.
Christina T
I really liked the vibe of this place. The decor is modern and cute. I love Asian and Creole food so the idea of their marriage was ideal for me. I really liked the curried hot chicken. It was unique and delicious. I recommend if you are staying downtown Nola!
Joseph Bodenmiller
An impressive dining room and clearly inspired menu with complex and beautifully curated dishes. I was however slightly disappointed that my dish lacked the depth of flavor explained on the menu. Not bad at all but disappointingly simplex. I was also disappointed that drink service was not in sync with ordering dinner. All that said this was only my first visit...anything can be slightly off for anyone on any given night. I will be back as I respect this chefs creativity and skill. Hoping for 4 or t stars next time!
Lydia Heller
Where to begin with this place... In a word: WOW! The food was sublime, as was the service. From start to finish I was blown away by the flavors and attention to detail in each dish and drink. I was particularly impressed by the PikaPika cocktail from the drinks menu but the food was what really stole the show! The crispy fried oysters were indeed crispy, yet nice and juicy. The roasted marrow bone was what dreams are made of... a true work of "meat butter" art! The blue crab dumplings were so delicate yet flavorsome and the broth was really delicious. And as a huge fan of duck... the crispy duck breast did NOT disappoint! I could have eaten 10 of them!!! I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Aidan Hale
Don’t let the small plates fool you! You’ll have just enough room for the mouth-watering desserts. The desserts and the food have complex flavor profiles that have you tasting all of the different flavors separately in quick succession with every bite. The servers are gracious and polite and pull off a good delivery of the menu with a lot of small details to remember! The apple crumble with dill crème fraîche, pictured here, was incredible. Their menu is always changing and is also seasonal! I will be back again and again!
Trevor Holder
The food was very unique and very delicious. The Pumpkin Brown Butter Agnolotti Pasta was my favorite. It had the perfect balance of flavors and the sauce was so good
Alina Barnett
The food was great, but it was expensive compared to similar restaurants in the area.
The buns were especially good!
Unfortunately, the suggested wine pairing did not pair well. I'd recommend getting a different drink.
Protiti Mondal
We had a really good experience here. The service was impeccable, our waiter was really friendly and had great recommendations. The Masala C-A-B cocktail was really tasty, Keffe 46 was interesting.
The portions were generous; we had everything family style. The pork jowl appetiser was incredible.
Alanna Fitts Lee
Delicious food, great drinks. Celiac friendly! I was able to enjoy gluten free fried oysters and soft shell crab with an interesting twist and they were both amazing. The restaurant took great care of us!
gabe landes
Every dish was amazing. Super friendly and attentive staff. My dad: “this is the best meal I’ve ever had”
Emily Chao
Super attentive server, went above and beyond to make us comfortable with excellent recommendations! All the entrees were delicious but I especially enjoyed the savory beignets, bread service, and drinks
michael yong
Nice fusion. Totally enjoyed the food and service. Jessica was giving great recommendations. Cocktail was also surprising. Can't wait to go back
Eric Triche
We had a nice meal with good food. The prices were steep for what we got (rather small portions). The service was lacking in the warm kindness that New Orleans is known for. The staff seemed really unhappy to be working there.
Jackie Adams
went to this place with some friends on Saturday night. we were able to make a reservation and get in within 30 minutes of calling. the hospitality was top notch, great service and accompanied by well thought out menu. I had the steak and peaches and I was impressed. steak melted in my mouth.
M. A. Miller
Hip spot in the CBD for Louisiana/Indian flavors. The was a vegetarian option in the appetizer and salad courses but not in the noodles or entrees. I asked our server who explained that they could make a dish minus the listed protein, but I wish there were an equally creative dish made to be vegetarian on its own.
Parking is like anywhere in this area - luck up on a street spot (often metered for 2 hours) or find a garage. The 412 O’Keefe garage is close, monitored, and very clean.
The bathrooms, while dimly lit, were clean and as ambient as the restaurant itself.
Karen Kosinski
Dim sum brunch is incredible--we ordered one of everything and never looked back. The oxtail dumplings and the seared octopus shumai were personals favorites. Also, definitely order the watermelon and roasted eggplant with blistered peppers.
Bill Henriques
Amazing dim sum / Cajun fusion restaurant in the new South Market area. I think we tried every appetizer on the menu and let me tell you that was amazing. The cabbage salad was one of my favorites but the sesame balls and the boudin balls and the merleton were great. the spicy fried chicken with the egg on top was really good but hot; I had the cold noodle salad with eggplant, beets and strawberries. Definitely try visiting Sunday for brunch! It was a real special treat especially for out of town guests.
Brad Boles
Needed a place to take some clients out and we wanted something a bit different than the standard New Orleans fare. Wow did Maypop deliver. Amazing interpretations of classic New Orleans dishes through an Asian lens. One of my guests said "This is one of the rare restaurants where the food tastes as good as it beautiful". Simply Amazing. The duck curry and the blue crab with hand pulled noodles (pictured) especially stand out.
Nic Arteaga
The menu is ... unique. I wasn’t quite sure how I was going to like what I picked (I got the chilled buckwheat noodle with blue crab and sesame). It was excellent! I was glad to have given it a try.
John Won
Everything was good. People were nice and accommodating ; restaurant was clean. Everything was savory and had a good balance of tastes.
Salayna Pereira
The menu options were perfectly unique for our group of foodie girls & our guys who just wanted to eat! The appetizers we had were pretty filling. I believe it was Vindaloo Wings and chicken sausage on sesame rolls. It only left room for this fig & mushroom toast that tasted equally amazing!
Margo Argo
Nicole makes the BEST vodka soda. Be careful, though. If she is pouring you will only need one lol
George Erwin
Took the recommendations from friendly waitress Neha, glad I did! Fresh, delicious and unique food...crispy fried oysters and spicy buttermilk fried chicken.
Barbara Glickman-Williams
The most amazing, delicious and unique meals! Chef Michael is truly a culinary genius.
Benjamin Dunlap
Ashley the bartender is the bomb. My wife and I ordered a dish that was prepared perfectly, but did not suit our personal tastes. We insisted that we pay for the food, but she discounted it anyway. Excellent food, excellent attention to customer satisfaction.
Julie Smith
Unbelievably great experience! Every member of the staff is so friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Our server Neha was amazing — knew everything on the menu and spot on with service. The manager Martinique was so helpful and jumped in wherever she was needed. And bonus we got to meet Chef Michael! We had the bread service - do not skip that, oysters, Bibb salad, catfish, and pork shoulder. We visit NOLA often and there are lots of great places here—this is by far the best meal we’ve had in a while. Thank you Maypop!! ❤️🙌
Nina W
Came here last night for a solo dinner and this is now one of my favorite places in New Orleans. I ate at the bar where the bartender made amazing drinks and offered wonderful suggestions from the menu. So pleasant! Drinks were on point 👌🏾 I had the fried oysters and they were amazing! The Gochujang Mochi Brownie 🤌🏾 chefs kiss! Staff was INCREDIBLE! Great vibe for dinner or just stopping by for drinks! Thanks for the hospitality ❤️
Ana Navarro
Completely amazed. A highlight of our trip. Had the duck and pork shoulder. We were both mind blown with the flavors. The kitchen and bar really take their craft seriously. Will definitely make it a point to come back when we're in town again.
Carlyle S.
Delicious! Nice lighting, drinks could have been better
Carishma Arun Shetty
Great New Year's Eve menu and wine pairing. Just delicious food and good service.
Thomas Krajewski
The ambiance and service were great, the location is convenient and the menu is not overwhelming but offers some variety. Found the skirt steak a bit on the gummy/chewy side but otherwise the food was very good. Would eat here again
Chimene Okere
Amazing service, affordable wine bottle deals, and delicious starters. Recommend the bone marrow
Michael Rudolf
Staff is amazing. Food is amazing. Atmosphere is amazing. I would definitely recommend checking them out.
Mackenzie Greer
Maypop is phenomenal. The food, the vibe , the service. Everything. I have celiacs, which makes eating typically a miserable experience, and maypops diligence with helping make things gluten free was so awesome. The salad was one of the best I ever had and I would never think I would want spicy strawberries on a steak, but now I demand them. Incredible!
angela s
I had a great time with my husband and friends. Food was delicious I had the best chicken I ever had service is very good can’t wait to visit NOLA again
R L Shultz
This place is really amazing. The food is terrific *even for New Orleans* and the fusion of South Asian, African, & Creole cuisine is inspired. Very much worth a visit--or multiple visits. Maypop will be going on our short list of restaurants we regularly come back to when we visit New Orleans.
Julie Anderson
An amazing dining experience. One of our favorite places!!
G L
The decor is nice,. The service is excellent and the food 2as delicious and drinks were made very well. I do recommend this restaurant.
jing yuan li
Very yummy dinner , a good memory! Can’t waste any bite😎 …

The bibb salad and the fish are must haves here, get the ube crème brulee if you still have room, delicious!
The F3RF3R12
Great food! Waiter was very nice. Be sure to try the Coffee!
Cynthia Lamantia
Very very tasty starters. The boudin balls were delicious. Great vibe. But very pricey.
Mac Link
Everytime I visit this place they deliver good food across the whole meal. It's always delicious and unique!
Lindsay Horn
The food was amazing. Everything we ordered was interesting and flavorful. We didn't get the best service sitting at the bar top. Bartender was not friendly or helpful. It was difficult to order food, more drinks and water. We would still go back to give it another try and hopefully get better service at a table.
Justin Mills
Unique dishes, great food. We had the bread service, oysters, marrow, pork shoulder, and blue crab dumplings. All were good to exceptional with the best being either the oysters, marrow, or shoulder.
taras c
Wonderful menu, super unique, well done, friendly service. Wasn't busy when I went which was nice because other places around like Mothers always have a huge group in front. Had the gumbo app and the fried chicken on potato salad with egg. Great flavors.
Shelly Butterfield
The food is amazing and very creative. The service is a little stiff considering the location in Nola, but the food is worth it.
Jonathan Corriveau
We just had the most wonderful meal. Bone marrow & crab dumplings were absolutely to die for. Definitely our best dinner in New Orleans.
Alex B
This restaurant doesn’t rest on its laurels. Service was excellent, offering good recommendations for how the dishes pair with one another. The food was delicious and unique. Appetizers, mains and dessert all met our expectations and did not disappoint.
Beth Higgins
Haven't been in several years. It was so good. Every dish was phenomenal. Brought out complimentary amuse bouche and chocolates. Gin drink specials were fantastic. Michael always delivers good food.
Sean Harris
Ok, so the food was really good. We had the fish (which was Pompano, over fermented black beans and greens in a way I've never had them before...soooo good), the shrimp ravioli, and the beef shank with papardelle, all delicious. The environment was also quite lovely. The only thing that wasn't amazing about our experience was our server Ashlyn. Sure, she was reasonably nice, but very low energy, she reached over us several times and we felt like we were always looking for her.
Here's the thing, people go to restaurants for all sorts of reasons. We go for the food AND the service and the food was awesome, but the service...it was just ok.
I just found out that this restaurant is affiliated with MoPho, which I also love. There is a server there named Michael, he knows that menu intimately and is excited about the food and it comes across in how he explains it..and I gotta say, it truly makes all the difference in the world.
John Dicasali
Fast and friendly! Amanda at the bar will take fantastic care if you. Will be coming back for the Sunday dim sum.
owusuaa agyare
Great food. Delicious ambience. Nice service.
Jon McB
Had an out of this world Dim Sum meal today. Best fried green beans ever!
Juan C. Vargas (Personal Wellnes Coach)
Delicious!!! The food was great and service too. We love it!
Kendell
OMG! The Chicken Vindaloo was very delicious. The atmosphere and the service was great as well. If you go, please ask for Lil Miss Nola504!
Javits Metoyer (KingGeedorah)
I've been to alot of restaurants in NOLA and this one is in my top 5 favorites along with MoPho restaurant.
David Yang
The food was decent but not worth the high price tag, especially given the portion size. The worst part was how long we had to wait for all the food and drinks to come out
Johnny Tran
Been here twice on two separate trip for lunch and dinner and this place never disappoints. Great fusion food
Quinn Sisson
Absolutely beyond indescribably the tastiest selection of food I have EVER had. Every dish is a 10/10 no question about it. Put every other restaurant to shame. I came for happy hour had almost one of everything and my mind was blown. Best flavor I have ever experienced. Tha k you Maypop for opening my eyes to what food should taste like.
Robert Travnicek
This is one of the best restaurants in New Orleans. We have eaten at all the famous and not so famous restaurants around the world. This place is special. Go to the website and just look at the food and menu. also 5 star service. The place has concrete floors and walls so if you are hard of hearing go before it fills up. I am 81 and have eaten for a hobby and cooked all my life you will never forget your meal there.
Shirley Gentry
The service from our waiter was amazing. He was terrific, working with the chef to make vegan options with no compromise to the impressive flavors of their dishes. These were they most complex flavors I have experienced in a dish. Memorable, between his service and our food, an truly nice experience with friends.
The only negative was the hostess.. Managing the basic task of her job seemed to cause more effort than she could manage. Maybe we caught her on a bad night, I hope. Anyway, that aside, it all went went and will definitely go back.
Lauren Johnson
Went on New Year's Eve and had a one night only prix fixe. All the dishes were super tasty and original/creative. The kind of dishes you'd actually remember later. Great service from cute, hip but friendly servers. Good cocktails. Cool decor, interior. A dining room you'd feel comfortable in whether you were dressed up or casual. Only complaint would be the portion sizes. Maybe this is specific to a 4 course dinner but they were like what people joke about portion sizes being in upscale, trendy restaurants.
Teamer Tibebu
Maypop was incredible from start to finish. The food, amazing. The cocktails, amazing. The presentation, amazing. The service, amazing. And to top it off, the chef came out and talked to each and every table when he had some free time.
Preanka
Most excellent service and most excellent food! Gives a whole new meaning to fusion and contemporary! From Jeremy greeting us and Neha, our host, and all the staff and, of course, the food, made for a very delightful dining experience! A must!! Thank you!!
Harper Hart
The food came out briskly but also, was timed perfectly. To my surprise, an amuse bouche fritter began the meal with a punch of flavor and the rolls and HOMEMADE pasta proceeded. The portions were robust, the flavors were dynamite (I mean lemongrass sausage?! Homemade pasta?!), and the service was excellent.
Andrew Cunningham
Absolutely delicious, savory, flavorful food with top notch service and a relaxing atmosphere. Connor is one of the chefs and is doing some incredible work at that place. HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.
Alejandra Urdaneta
Holy sh!t - this place is FANTASTIC. The food is amazing: we ordered the fried oysters as appetizer, and then as entrées we had the Gulf fish ratatouille (out of this world) and an off-menu special that was an egg noodle pasta with chanterelles, crème fraîche, blue crab and roasted figs (it was so good that we vote it should be part of their regular menu). They have great service and ambiance. Please come in and try their amazing restaurant, you definitely will leave amazed at their food and with a huge smile on your face.
Max Sadrieh
Some of the best food we've ever had. Extremely highly recommended.
Our favorite dishes were the slow braised duck, the baoling and the passion fruit tart (Maypop pie). We also loved the sesame balls and the hand pulled noodles as well as the bread with coconut butter and shellfish pepper jelly.
The wait staff was excellent as well. The hostesses were gracious and friendly. Our waiter was both warm and professional and had excellent recommendations.
Last but not least, the setting is very pleasant and it was quite calm when we ate dinner.
Overall a can't miss based on our experience.
Robert Perecko
This location is convenient to the Hyatt. My friends and I dropped by for drinks and appetizers after meeting the chef/owner at the American Culinary Federation conference. The oxtail bone marrow curry was delicious! The crispy fried oysters were good too; Very fresh! The kitchen brought out a couple complimentary treats as well that were yummy. I’d love to go again and try the entrees and noodles. Our server was also very nice and knowledgeable about the menu.
Sandra C
One of the top three meals I’ve had in New Orleans. Every dish we got was both delicious and unique. The service was excellent all around, staff were not tense or rushed, were genuinely nice. Our server actually made a point to tell us “stay and enjoy your time together as long as you’d like” after we’d already paid the bill. The atmosphere is clean, stylish, and modern but not pretentious. I asked for a mocktail and they made me up something excellent. Not every restaurant has been as skilled (or sometimes accommodating) with NA beverages during pregnancy. If you like Compere Lapin this place is similar in terms of achieving delicious unique dishes that I don’t think you will find anywhere else, and it has similar pricing and volume of options too. Maypop has a more intimate feel though. It’s not loud, you can easily have a conversation, and it’s more off the beaten path. We are so very much looking forward to going back.
Miranda Walker
So so glad that Maypop has reopened. There is really nothing like it in New Orleans, and it is an asset to the neighborhood. A few things on the menu stay the same, others come and go. If you’re anything like me, you may not be able to fully envision what a dish may taste like while reading the menu, but just trust that it will be fabulous. My favorite thing on the current menu is the pasta with coconut milk alfredo, crab, and sausage. Others with me had the short rib (great) and gulf shrimp dish (also great). Appetizers and drinks are also great. With covid in mind, the spacing is still set up very generously, even with most restrictions gone. If you are looking for somewhere that is still being cautious, this is the place.
Siamrath Boonsakul
Wow! What an experience! Our server Justin also made this dinner experience memorable and was very prompt with our service as well as being such a great help and instrumental during our food selection process.
For starters Justin helped pick out:
Birb Lettuce Salad: They were bit lettuce chunks tossed in a very tart vinaigrette served with some type of Indian/South Asian hard-crunchy flat bread. It was really delicious! It was so refreshing, and it really helped cleanse the palette of the Bone Marrow Dish.
Crispy Oysters: Wow! This was the first bite all three of us had when it first landed on the table, and I can tell you we were so impressed by this dish. It had everything you wanted in a well rounded meal. It brought the fat from the fried portion of the oyster, it had the acidity in the pickled vegetables that garnishes it, it was seasoned well, and it was so flavorful. Great choice!
Roasted Bone Marrow and Green Garlic Curry: My partner and my friend has never had bone marrow before so they didn't know what came out. But with a little instruction (it really only takes like 2 seconds to show them where the bone marrow is) they quickly scraped some off, put some on the Roti (which is really puratha bread but Thais call this type of bread Roti bread) and scraped some of the green garlic curry onto the roti. Delicious! Extremely fatty and coats your entire mouth with fat, but worth every bite. We ate some of the Birb lettuce salad which has that nice tart vinaigrette to really help cleanse our palette of the fat.
Entrees and Noodles:
Maypop Crawfish Ettouffee over Gnocchetti: this was the most bland out of all of our dish, but I was the only one that liked it for that blandness. My two dinner companions didn't care for this dish that much, and it was sadly one of the two that made it's way into a to-go box because it was not finished.
Gulf Shrimp in Smoked Paprika over grits: The curry was good but was not very flavorful. If anything the shrimps on this dish was extremely salty and pretty much encapsulated the seasoning of everything else that it seemed to have made the curry lose it's curry taste. This was the second dish that our table did not finish and made it's way into a to-go container.
Hot Smoked Duck Ham over Cashew-Sticky Rice: WOW! I LOVE THIS DISH! I'm Thai and do a lot of Thai cooking. I'm not sure where the chefs got their inspiration from, but the raw garlic, the Thai chilies, the acidity from their onion-ginger saute sauce definitely reminds me of home cooking, but definitely elevated. This was mine and my partner's favorite dish of the night. It was spectacular!
Beef short rib in Rendang Curry: This was my friend's favorite dish and our second favorite dish of the night. The beef short rib was braised so well, it really had that perfect balance of fattiness and tenderized braised meat. It was garnished with some type of pickled radish sliced thin (likely daikon), and another type of julienned radish that was sliced. It had a really great flavor overall and we really appreciated the craftiness of the chef's creation.
Overall: The drinks were awesome, the food was amazing, and Justin was an amazing server. We definitely enjoyed our first time at Maypop and will definitely be back!
Vaasav Gupta
Amazing restaurant, great food and kind servers. Recommend the lamb for lunch. The kitchen was kind enough to give us complimentary appetizers and dessert bites. Overall a very unique experience with an interesting fusion cuisine, fast service, and a very nice modern industrial ambience.
Lenny
The food was as beautifully plated as it was delicious! The service was great and very knowledgeable about the restaurant.
Rae
The food was amazing and so was the staff! Highly recommend! There menu changes often which is nice so every time you visit you have a new delicious surprise.
Bradley Wilson
It was pretty dope! Honestly I am not used to small portions; but, they gave enough for it to be filling and not fill you up. Each item had a unique about it and they were able to change the recipe for food allergies. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience.
Fermín Lizarraga
We went there for lunch, and we had a great experience. The food was truly delicious, and the attention received by the manager was excellent, we asked him about a couple of places in NOLA and by dessert, he brought us a list of like ten places to hang around in the city. This was incredibly nice of him, as only one of us had been in town before. In summary, we ate really well and the staff were so cool!
Matt Minga
Our server was great. We had food allergies in our group and he went back to the kitchen and confirmed what on the menu was a possibility for those in our group. The way our server handled this was enough for 5 stars, but the food was absolutely excellent. It was a very interesting menu with great flavors. No one in our group had any issues afterwords. I would highly recommend this place.
Sven Vazquez
This place has ruined other food experiences for me.
The food was fantastic. The flavors that flowed through each meal were unlike anything I've yet to encounter in this life.
The mixology was top-notch. The bartender was very skilled. The overall customer service was beyond my expectation.
I try not to attract too much attention to myself but I have never before had to resist clapping more than after this meal.
Mikaliah Bell
My experience here at this restaurant was by far the best food experience I've ever had. Chef mike the owner is an amazing cook. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anybody who would like to try something different. I was very pleased with the quality and taste of the dish I tried which was the Head cheese and Blue crab soup dumplings off of the dimsum brunch menu. The best!!! I feel like this should be the first dish for first timers to try. I promise you won't be disappointed.
Mark H
Southern American and South Asian fusion? Phenomenal. Generous and wide-variety choices for Happy hour. Dinner was outstanding- all appetizers, entrees and desserts had sophisticated flavor profiles and layers. We had 2 happy hour apps and two dinner menu apps - all were tantalizing. Dinner entrees were seafood based pastas, both with rich flavors and spices. The s’more dessert was innovative and had deep flavor without drowning in sweetness. I’m here all week...might have to come back again!
Lesley Fisher
An unexpected surprise. On our recent trip to New Orleans we came across this restaurant.
Service was outstanding and the food was so spectacular that I wish we had dined there on our first night and not our last so we could have revisited it again
Every bite had an wonderful layered taste and no two bites were the same. I was truly sad when the meal was over. I just wanted it to go on and on
I like the simple but tasteful decor and the openness of the restaurant due to the outer walls being glass
I wish they could open a restaurant up where I live in Canada so I could be a frequent diner
Jennifer Booker
This was the best meal I've had since before the pandemic. We went at happy hour since we had a 3-year old, and Jessie, our server, was amazing. Get the Ginger Smash and order everything on the HH menu!
Amy
Not just an incredible taste experience but also a texture experience. Really enjoyed the Chaat Salad and the tofu. The lamb dish also received rave reviews. Great and interesting cocktail menu and it looks as if they are working on their wine selection. I'll be back for the amazing food and the friendly, prompt, and attentive service.
Jazmyn Blockson
Real talk... I was ready to give this place a bad review. Cause I thought they were fronting. Server asked off top about dietary restrictions which I definitely appreciated. He gave me recommendations and everything seemed good. But the food they made for me had all types of cheese on it even though I was very clear about my zero tolerance for dairy. But when they came correct with the order I realized it was love. I’m so glad I ordered my food to go because the sauces on the side will definitely be remixed at home. I ordered the lamb shank btw. All in all this for sure was my best meal in NOLA... might be the best all together no cap 👌🏾
Katelyn Jo
I've been here twice and if I lived locally I am sure it would be a mainstay. This would be a great place to eat and share appetizers or dim sum with friends. Entrees are generous for quality faire. Cocktails are tasty and creative, too. The two waiters that I've had were very knowledgeable and professional and were proud of their chef who is a talented transplant from August.
Jeremy Thacker
The food was outstanding and the variety was great as well. I can't say that the style of food was my favorite but I could certainly appreciate the quality. The decor is cool and modern and it attracts a hip crowd. Our group was a little rowdy and it's not that type of place. Our waiter was very good as were the drinks. We ordered family style and ate to our fill. For a group of 10, our bill was $550. We all drank a lot so this seemed very reasonable based on the quality and quantity of the food and drinks we had.
Bobbette Oreilly
Michael Gulotta is amazing and very creative - treat yourself to dinner at Maypop and you won't be sorry. His pastas, salads, desserts are all unique but so delicious. I have brought out of town clients here many times and it is always amazing. Because of the brilliant atmosphere and delicious food, I’d visit Maypop again and you can go with your family, friends or whosoever you wish to.
Joshua Simmons
One of the better dining experiences I've had in awhile. From the starter to dessert, dishes were unique and well paired. And if that weren't enough, the entire staff went above and beyond in every way, making everyone feel like a revered guest. A++
Pierre-Adrien Mante
Incredible and imaginative food, nice staff, cool decoration.
Nathan H
Great service and great food at this unique Southern and Asian fusion. The prices are a little more than usual but it's worth it.
Anat wechsler
We had the greatest evening at Maypop. Sat on the bar and had a lot of small coarses. All of them were amazing and the coctails were some of the best we ever had!
The vibe is posh and cool and the service is very very good.
Would definitely return!

Wonderful culinary experience! Everything we tried was delicious. We particularly enjoyed the brisket. Don't miss this restaurant, not inly offering amazing food, but a cool and trendy ambiance.
Did I mentioned the staff was amazingly friendly too? They were so accomodating when I mentioned my husband is allergic to crustaceans. The chef changed some dishes that had shrimp paste for us, everything was super delicious and we enjoyed every bite :)

Excellent service. Extensive menu. Delicious Food. Loved the ambiance. I thought it would be more expensive. 👀 - pleasantly surprised. I hope they don't hike up the prices later.

Went for Sunday brunch; asian-fusion menu in open dining area with festive ambiance. Great drinks and many menu choices so everybody can find something. We dined ordering small plates and sharing among the table. Everything was great, including the service. Recommended.

Every bite was scrumptious!...the waiter and the whole staff made my experience wonderful!...I asked questions that my waiter wad happy to enquire about. I was esp. happy with how he treated my Granddaughters, looking at them and making sure they were going to be pleased with their meals. The staff was so attentive!.. I dropped a pair of chopsticks and right away my waiter (Michael) came to the table with a fresh pair because he heard my pair hit the floor....like I said, the food was so delicious, even simple green beans, my favorite dessert was Maypop pie!...great place to take the family...looking forward to my return!

Food was good but service was abysmal. It was slow and inattentive. I sat at the bar and it was very difficult to get the server’s attention. After another couple commandeered the server’s attention for at least five minutes—apparently they needed to ask questions on the menu—the server should have checked on the other people at the bar to see if they needed in anything after five minutes. Instead, she looked at the floor and then took forever to ring in the complicated couple’s order. The only saving grace was that the restaurant wasn’t busy (which, of course, makes poor service even more inexcusable). I can’t imagine how bad it would have been at peak hours. The food was also slow to come out. Hopefully they can figure out the service issues because the food really was good. I personally wouldn’t go back until someone else confirms service is better. I don’t have that much time.
David Dolnick
Creative awesome delicious food. I was surprised that the food was as good as it was. The bread service, smoked fish and fries oysters are a must and started the meal off perfectly. Go with friends so you can try more of the menu!

We had second thoughts about eating here since we saw the lunch menu online but got there for ther dinner menu which was interesting but a little weird but stayed anyway and we were really glad we stayed.
Everything we ate was really delicious and flavorful in unexpected and surprising ways. The gulf fish entree was an albacore tuna and was tender and delicious. The dark chocolate s'mores was ridiculously good.
russell dearman
Service was incredibly slow on a Thursday night. Waiter had an attitude. Food was marginal, at best. Ambiance was amazing, which is the only reason I am giving 3 stars. Yet another New Orleans restaurant not deserving of the hype.
Manny Lavery
The food I had was absolutely incredible. I had the Braised Beef Shank Parpadelle and it was with out a doubt the best dish I've ever had in New Orleans.
John Gannon Padgett
I've been to New Orleans twice, and Maypop three times. I think that says enough.
Chad J Palardy
Totally amazing experience! Service was solid as rock. Date night for my wife and I and well be back. Apps were outstanding and as my wife said the lamb shank I got was straight up gold star. Were still glowing from the meal today. I totally suggest you tale my recommendation and go.
Brent Fradella
This place is on the pricey side for the portions is my only knock. I tried a little bit of everything as I was with a large party and ohh my God- these flavor combinations were like nothing i've ever had before and really tasted amazing. There's an oxtail marrow appetizer that words will not do justice to describe how delicious it was. Simply fantastic. Everything I tried, even the desserts were really good and full of flavor combinations. I really loved this place and you should go there immediately.

Best meal in New Orleans so far and the agnolotti that I had today was the best pasta that I’ve eaten in the last few years by far.
Incredible food and good prices too. Not expensive for what it is at all.
Chuck Brown
Had lunch with coworkers, first time here. Service was good, food was a little to "showy" meaning they favored style over substance. Lots of restaurants have "Buffalo" oysters but Maypop chooses to put theirs on top of a black substance (squid ink?) that added nothing to the dish. In my opinion it actually distracted from the flavor of the oysters. It didn't taste good at all. The roasted eggplant was very good and the touch of watermelon that added a little brightness to the dish was a good choice and did enhance the flavor of the dish. I may give them another try but I wasn't overly impressed on this visit.
Myche Tician
One of the many Super Hyper trendy eateries popping up downtown. I'm not so sure about their consistency or quality control.. My dish consisted of handmade noodles, most of which were clumped together into a solid lump. The bowl was hotter than the food within. There are some really good flavors in some of their dishes, but it takes quite a long time to get food. Their macaroni and cheese is anti-climactic, with extremely undercooked macaroni topped with a very Bland cheese Bechamel. I found the Roux In Their gumbo to be burned . Probably for every item I was impressed with there was something I was disappointed with. 50/50. Probably the biggest thing I was put off by was how outrageous the prices are for drinks. The cheapest draft beer is $7 and you can't get a glass of wine for under 12 and the wine selection is really really sad. I don't mind paying $15 for a decent glass of wine but I could have gotten better stuff from the supermarket down the street at fraction of the price. The portions were also hit and miss. They have some interesting bread with a creative pepper jelly that you have to pay for. $4 for 4 small rolls. I think the food has potential but the execution seems mercenary.ū

Maypop is one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in a long time. As a matter of fact it allowed me to regain an entire taste bud. Mind you I’m far from a foodie, and I often would just eat Pizza under my bed and listen to ninja turtle 2 soundtrack on repeat. The margaritas were delicious, and every course was absolutely delicious. The service was absolutely perfect as well. I would Highly recommend Maypop. Try the custard pie and drink 9 drinks. Perfect place. 5 stars .

After a long day of flight delays and rerouting and traffic around the Saints vs Vikings pre-season game at the Superdome, we finally checked into our Hyatt Regency room about 1930. Daughter Rachel had read reviews of Maypop, only about two blocks from the hotel, so we headed out sans reservation (we had to cancel our Upperline reservation because of the delays). A table near the bar was perfect. The service was perfect (thanks to Turner), the manager (alas, we forgot her name) was friendly and interested in our experience at Maypop, and the food, well, the food was pretty much some of the finest either of us has had in a long, long time. Other reviews call in Cajun-Asian, and I guess that would do. Daughter's D-Tom Yum ("to die for," she said) and my gulf fish dish both excellent. Salad one of the finest ever, with lettuce that must have been picked in the hour before it arrived at our table. Fried oysters also very good. A dessert with black olives? You gotta try it. Great ambiance, with maybe a bit hefty noise level. All in all, a grand two hours plus from champagne to appetizers to main courses to chats with Turner to desserts and finally coffee. An experience we'll remember.
Doug Heckman
A perfect spot after a long day of travel. Flavors were sharp, unique, and fresh. Vibe was energetic, but not over the top. I found myself slowing down to make my two courses last longer. Even their lettuce salad was interesting. Thoroughly enjoyed the cornmeal garganelli with blue crab. I look forward to a return visit.
Vicki Smith-Jones
The food is well prepared however the portions are on the small side and as i am personally not fond of oysters, duck liver, octopus, beef belly, etc and there was no non-neveau selections i rated it a little lower. If you are into their menu then five stars. The bread rolls are absolutely 5 stars!
Dustin Walker
Friendly wait staff and they did a great job explaining each dish and recommending good pairings. The food is good, but the portions are a bit small. Some interesting flavor combinations. Not your typical NOLA fare.
Neha Patel
Amazing food and service. Jonas was very knowledgeable and extremely nice! Beautiful ambience and lots of vegetarian options to choose from. I had noodles dish, Spring Carrot Gemelli, and it was out of this world delicious! I am a picky eater and I'm really impressed so, that says more than 5 stars!
Léo Talbot
Everything is homemade in this restaurant and you can feel it! I was thinking with a small menu like this each item is a superstar and I was right. We took a roasted pork shoulder and one of the best fresh pasta I ever had in my life. Friendly staff and top clean restaurant with a revisited modern style. Waiters follow every step for a quality service: ask if everything is good each time (even drink), took back fork knife between service even if I triend to hide them, professional wine service. The best part was the dessert! Simply amazing with a mix of dark chocolat cremeux, red vermouth ice cream and shredded olive candy. If you want to have a completly different restaurant experience go for it!
Jennifer Fernandez
Interestingly delicious! Loved the unique flavor profiles which made it exciting. Super relaxed & soothing atmosphere. And our server was superb. Thanks for a tasty fun night out Maypop!
Sebastian Zelechowski
Nice food and wine pairing. Caveat: not a big choice of dishes, and some dishes were fried in dough, which i don't like too much
Matthew Gibson
Food was okay. Our appetizer was incredible, so I highly suggest getting the Boudin, only available Saturday and Sunday. The meals themselves were average and I felt a little over priced. Service was excellent as was the atmosphere.
Yvonne Chalker
The food is excellent! If you go at Happy Hour, be sure to get the chicken wings. They are extremely spicy, but are to die for. It does get very loud when full, but it seems that every place is like that these days. Highly recommended.
Jordan Albritton
Really good food. Some eclectic options. May not be great for picky eaters, but everyone in our party enjoyed their food. Particularly enjoyed the Vietnamese coffee and the blueberry thyme gelato for desert. Also, although there are no vegetarian options on the menu, they are extremely accommodating. The vegan in our group loved his meal.
Alicia Cahill
The food was so unique and delicious. I had the hand pulled noodles with lump crab meat and it was one of the best meals I’ve had in my life. The atmosphere was awesome and it was easy to get reservations.
Phyllis Domingo
Popped in not realizing it was Asian, spicy nouveau dishes. Neither of us can tolerate spicey or hot for different reasons. The wait staff, manager and chef were most accommodating. I got a lighter seasoned pork on rice dish ...yummy and they did a special pasta for my friend that she could enjoy. We were treated so courteously although posed challenges for them. Thanks!
E S
Went here based on the positive reviews. Three of us went for a late lunch during the week. Service was good. Waiter was attentive and was knowledgeable of the menu. We tried the bread service, lamb with roti, garganelli pasta with crabmeat, and Bibb lettuce salad. The salad had no Bibb lettuce that we could see. Instead it was green and red leaf. The bread service was ok. The lamb and pasta were great. Both delicious with a nice blend of flavors. The salad was good, but the cashew crisp made it. We also had the sazerac, que rico, and pikapika. Que rico was the standout. We also received a table service of small dumpling with horseradish foam. It was ok.
If you do not like Asian flavors, I would not recommend this place. There were two items (table service and pepper jack jelly) with fish sauce and/or shrimp paste.
We would go back for the lamb and pasta.
Keelin Mallory
Had a fabulous meal and wonderful service!
Amy Steele
Oh good lord this food is delicious. If you're considering eating here, just go. I'm writing this review a couple months after I dined here, so maybe I'm biased or misremembering things, but here goes. I tried the head cheese and blue crab soup (first time, unexpected, very tasty), tumeric curry egg noodles with jumbo shrimp (deeeeelicious), and some tasty little dessert thing that was brought out "just because". Handling this menu was difficult for me because I don't go out often (i.e. had to google "head cheese"), and I wanted to order everything. This place gets an A+ for taste, creativity, and presentation. If I lived in New Orleans, Maypop would have all my monies.
Alexis Palmer
Tonight's meal was perfect down to the last detail. This place gets me.
Sergio Gonzalez
Chef Gulotta has done it again! The restaurant's design is beautiful. I went with a group of six. The service was amazing, the food presentation impeccable. I had the lamb and that was out of this world delicious. At the end of our meal they asked for feedback so they could improve this recently opened venue upon our experience, so we gave them our thoughts. These were very well received and they thanked us for the imput. After that they gave us a BIG discount. Couldn't recommend this place any higher. Go and try the lamb now!
Camille Rome
I really love this restaurant. After dining a few times, I'm always excited about the menu, cocktails and desserts. I went last night with my husband and we had the octopus pasta, scallops (special), and steak. It was all delicious with interesting flavors. The octopus was a bit chewy, but that's octopus I guess! We had 2 desserts: the pavlova and maypop pie. Divine! The pie reminded me of a key lime pie, but with passionfruit. The pavlova exploded with flavor. I also loved my cocktail, Elysian Fields. I highly recommend this restaurant for the adventurous palate.
Quentin McInnis
Admittedly I was a bit afraid to try this place as I really do love Asian cuisine but this establishment takes such a unique spin on it! The menu is unique and so bold. It truly is fusion done right! The atmosphere is pretty nice. It has a business casual type of feel to it. I highly recommend this establishment!
Audrey Kidwell
Great service, with friendly staff who answered all our questions about the menu. The food was delicious - New Orleans inspired, without being the same old staples. Lots of creative blending of flavors. We were impressed by their use of Sichuanese ingredients.
Beth Moore
Highs:
I would go back just for the Amazing frozen drink: Lafitte’s Grog!!!
Atmosphere great vibe!
3 1/2 stars:
The food had intense mix of flavors too much for me personally. Delicious appetizer: lemon fish with picked beets and sweet potato tots.
Not a fan of sheepshead, which my husband said was the fish they always threw back in the water!
Lindsey Hall
Food was amazing, service was super slow. Five stars for food and two stars for service. Sorry :/
Fannie Bennett
Jonathan has waited on our party a few times now, he is fantastic. Timely, on point, very friendly. The atmosphere of the restaurant is hip, but not so loud that you cannot have business conversation. There is not one entrée that I have tried that has not been very tasty, and well prepared. Big thumbs up for Maypop!
Everett Baudean
My wife and I ate here last weekend, and I thought it was incredible. I've eaten at many nice restaurants in the NOLA area (though living in Baton Rouge, not as many as I'd like), but this one stood out. I'm usually a little bit skeptical of any kind of "fusion" cuisine, as it doesn't always work. Mixing one thing that is good with another thing that is good doesn't always work well, and rarely accomplishes something that is actually better than the component parts. However, that was not the case here. Everything I ate was delicious, and in a way that I didn't really expect. The fusion of eastern and western flavors really worked. I'm always a fan of newer, more avant garde sort of foods, as long as they succeed in being better in addition to just being new. Maypop achieved that for me. Even just the bread service with the sweet and spicy shellfish jam exceeded expectations.
It is pricey, but no more than any other NOLA restaurant of a similar level of quality. We didn't even order entrees, as after the bread, a cocktail, and a noodle dish each we were satisfied. The noodle dishes were somewhat small, but the price wasn't ridiculous, and the quality was extraordinary, so on the whole I think the value is pretty high.
Stephen Thorne
Went here for drinks and appetizers twice on our short visit to New Orleans. Totally recommend this place for the drinks and the food! Service was EXcellent. Drinks fantastic. Food was awesome. If you are looking for a cool, hip place for drinks, this would be a great choice.
Syndie Pich
The food, drinks, service, atmosphere was too die for!
Dorian Kristmanson
Great service and very well presented and flavourful food. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. He gave a good suggestion for wine pairing. The ambiance was pleasant and not too loud. Would definitely recommend Maypop!

Updated Review (3 stars): I went here for a private event and got to try more of the menu and found a few favorites. The lamian noodles are really good and they had a delicious take on peaches and cream for dessert. They also had a great take on a tom collins with gin and grapefruit juice. Didn't much care for the appetizer/entree. I think the chef/owner is trying really hard to do something unique here - it's just not exactly a fit for my palate. I guarantee you won't taste anything like this menu anywhere else - that is both a compliment and a warning.
Old Review (2 stars): Went here recently for the "dim sum" brunch they've advertised pretty heavily and wasn't too impressed. The staff was very friendly and the space is gorgeous and open but I can't really say I liked any of the dishes I had. I obviously didn't expect anything close to authentic dim sum but thought it'd be fun to see a local chef take on some of the classic dishes and add local flavors to them. My favorite dish was probably the sesame balls with pork sausage but that's because it was just ok. The bacon scallion pancakes were way too thin, the turnip cakes tasted burnt and I can't say the oxtail dumplings had any real flavor to speak of. The Octopus shumai were interesting but I'm not sure what the mustard was there for. Finally the Salt and Pepper Shrimp were tasty but there wasn't exactly a "twist" on them - I could have gotten more for less at any other dim sum joint. I'll have to come back and try this place for dinner or something but my impression is that the kitchen mashes up flavors so erratically that it can be very hit or miss and for me it's a miss.
Byron Tyler
One of the best “fusion” meals I’ve had in a long time. They truly bring out the best in the various cuisines: Cajun, Indian, Viet, Italian, etc. I wanted to try everything on the menu, but I only ordered a couple amazing appetizers: the Burrata and Gumbo. They are able to do with their dishes is innovative and will leave you wanting more!
Leslie Johnson
Eat here if you're kind of adventurous. The food is unique and different, but we really enjoyed it. Truly some of the best service I've ever received. It's a gorgeous restaurant too. We loved the squid ink fusilli.
Blake Knight
Great experience. We were outside and it was a lovely time. The server was knowledgeable and nice. The food was delicious and well plated. I would absolutely recommend and return!
James Novis
one of the few places where service is as good, if not better than the food. it's an interesting menu of modern-American asia-fusion. Beware if you have an allergy, they are peanut heavy, although the menu doesn't indicate it.
Jill Savren
Delicious food and really great service!
Natalie Dalba
Maypop is exceptional, in both service and cuisine. The exquisite pairings of flavors are both refreshing and satisfying, with new twists on classic favourites. The presentation of the food is what you'd expect of a five star resteraunt, yet it is casual and inviting in ambiance. Absolutely check this place out, worth every penny. Neha was our server, and her passion for every detail made the night. Cannot wait to come back!!!
Fady Baky
This is really well done fusion! Creole + SE Asian cuisine results in some really unique flavors and an awesome dining experience. I definitely recommend doing an appetizer + noodle dish + entree, which ends up being a little expensive, but worth every penny! The service was excellent and we enjoyed every recommendation our server made.
Mango Mango
Appetizer and desert were great. Ordered the soft shelled crab for main course and it was deep fried and couldn’t taste anything but oil. Had to give it back. Ambience is nice.
Krimo “VVVVV”
The food there is absolutely delicious, you should definitely stop there if interesting flavors are your cup of tea. Big shout out to our amazing waitress whose name I've unfortunately forgotten; she's a small blonde woman with a nose piercing, and very very awesome.
Melissa Pendergraft
We were looking For authentic Cajun food however when we got there we found it was Asian please I and a inspired food. Totally not what Google said it was totally not we were looking for. However servers were very nice. I'm sure that if we had wondered that type of food it would have been very yummy.
Olga Kourilova
Stopped in for lunch recently and can’t wait to go back! Fried oysters on top of bourbon soy aioli and topped with pickles and manchego had a touch of every sort of flavor one could hope for - crunchy, creamy, tangy - they were stupid good. My lunch mate had the snapper and I had the swordfish and again both had such great flavor combinations and textures. Swordfish came with this charred okra that I’m now obsessed with trying to recreate. Honestly can’t say enough good things. The bartender was great, too (Ainsley I think?)! She gave excellent suggestions, was incredibly kind and patient and just had perfect intuition for pacing and service.
Shanice Becton
Just ate here and the food is so amazing. I'm glad to see an establishment focusing on quality and not just quantity. Perfect size portions and the food mixes so many great and creative flavors that balance each other. Has been my favorite restaurant so far in NOLA!
Derek Fournier
Nice bar. Good service. Convenient spot near the theater. Prices were high but it was worth it.
Did not eat but the food looked quite good.
Gerardo Orellana
We were 5 people and all of us order different plates. All of them were great in flavor, however the Lamb plate for dinner was the winner. Drinks were also really good.
JD Petro
Anyone below that did not rate this place 5 stars neither understands, nor appreciates stellar level complexity in the art of cuisine.
It is, hands down, from start to finish, a 5 ⭐️ restaurant and a 7 ⭐️ Chef running it.
It actually aggravated me to read a poor review.
If I’m recommending, you should be going.
James Pennington
Great food and atmosphere. Was a bit embarrassed asking for a company discount,as I work for a partner company. After a very long time waiting, my friends were getting embarrassed as well and made the comment if it is this much trouble we will just pay the regular bill. The discount was going to go to the server as tip, which is what I've always done. The manager came over and told me they applied a smaller discount, but that they don't normally give employees from our store a discount "because there are so many temporary staff". Kind of makes sense, but I am one of only 5 or 6 kitchen employees and I work regularly. And I really wonder how many of these temp workers are working for this store, just so they can get a discount on food once in a blue moon. Really kind of just put a bitter taste on my tongue after such an awesome meal.
Kelly B
Delicious fusion cuisine. Excellent creative cocktails. The portion sizes were perfect. Reservations are definitely needed. This place stays very busy.
Stephen Manuel
Loved the combination of flavors, everything is very fresh. Lunch menu has a great variety and service was spot on - we will be returning to this this place soon. Hand pulled noodles were outstanding.
Jeff Oliver
Special place with magical chef that gives you much more than normal. Nothing simple or shallow, the food was complex with flavor that had been worked at professionally. The staff was very professional and the place has great energy.
Katherine
Very tasty food. Modest portions.
Matthew Hyland
Incredible food. Vindaloo chicken is great.
Simon Mcrowdy
The bartender was amazing, so knowledgeable and great at multitasking interacting with the customers. Bone marrow was delicious. No photos available sorry.
Aavery Mundt
The atmosphere is very modern industrial schick. The food is delicious but it is a very limited menu and rather a bit on the pricey side. Stop in for an appetizer and a cocktail and maybe trundle on if you have a significant appetite.
Lyn Morein
Amazing! Simply amazing! Dim Sum brunch was incrediblr and chef paid special attention to my friend's mothers allergy to MSG, even going so far as offering to create something just for her. Highly recommended.
Sam Bridges
An absolutely amazing culinary experience!
Moritz Marti
Amazing food and excellent service. We will be back:)
Dan Meisler
I went here for lunch when visiting New Orleans. The food was amazing and the service was great. My wife is a vegetarian and she did not have many options on the menue, but the chef made her something just for her.
Highly recommend this place.
Jen Vandeveer
A bit pricey but delicious. Waitstaff a little slow during a not-busy lunch hour. Glad I escaped a mediocre conference lunch at the Hyatt for a nice, enjoyable treat at Maypop.
Loulou Dickey
Great food and nice change of pace from the rich southern food. House made pasta was outstanding. Service is top notch!
Flubbering Philistine
I've been to like 4 Thai places in new Orleans and this manages to taste more authentic than 3 of them
Fusion is usually a gimmick but here its taken seriously as a way to emphasize the Asian flavors under the guise of "familiar" food
Go here if youre from out of town and miss proper Indochinese flavors or aromas
Alternatively go here if you want to learn what proper Indochinese aromas are and why foreign spices can be so fascinating
Quinn Forman
Quite a lovely place very tasty food, excellent service.
Maribeth Capelli
AMAZING food and service! We had the Bibb salad, crab & pork noodles, macchiato, strawberry angel food dessert, and oysters. They even brought out a complimentary beignet with a twist. Every single item had so many flavors and we couldn't even choose which one was our favorite because they were all so great. Chef Jay is bomb!!! Definitely will be back next time were in New Orleans.
Fares Amari
First time at Maypop and have to admit, I didn't know what to expect. The vibe is upscale and modern, the food is out of the ordinary with flavors and a style that I'm not sure you can find anywhere else in New Orleans.
I would recommend this place to everyone.
Saskia Marchant
Great food, carefully thought out and thoughtfully put together for a great foodie experience at a reasonable cost, but why, people, put your lovely food on chipped plates? I couldn't understand it when you've gone to so much trouble! Hence 4 and not 5 stars. Go for the food, not the the dishes!
Benina Lopez
Visited about a month ago. This place is an experiment for your taste buds. They combine flavors that I didn’t think would make sense and they kind of force you to try something different. I’m so glad I finally got to try this place out! A+ on service, presentation, and taste.
Tyler Charles
Very chic Vietnamese themed New Orleans establishment. They have a bao bun that is to die for! Do yourself a favor and try the Vietnamese iced tea! So good! So, so good!
At the end of meal, they serve you a couple cocoa-dusted house-made caramels, which I'm afraid I might be addicted to! rather than the chewy, stick to your teeth kind of caramel, these melted in your mouth like a snowball in a fireplace. How they made them, I guess I'll never know. But man were they good!
Rylan Domingue
The pastas, bread & desserts alone are worth going!
Jeff Kaemmerling
Exceptionally tasteful, full of unique flavor profiles blending south East Asian flavors over classic Southern fare! I went for Brunch. The shrimp mirliton with XO hollandaise was superb, and the sesame balls(stuffed with pork and cumin chutney) are absolutely to die for! Voodoo iced coffee is perfect balance of sweet, espresso, and alcohol. Also, sleeper menu item is their bread service. GET IT, you will not be disappointed.
Aleksandra “Sasha” Pegova
$$$ and rather small portions which is typical for such restaurants
Interesting menu though needs clarification since some descriptions were unclear without help of the staff
Which is ok as well
Came for dinner
BIBB LETTUCE SALAD
$10 salad that looked like a modern art sculpture
literally 3 lettuce leaves stacked on top of each other with a coconut&cashew crepe. Spent more time cutting rather than eating it. Presentation makes sense, cause if it came precut, the portion would look ridiculously small
Tasted nice and fresh, no complaints about that
GULF FISH WITH ROASTED PUMPKIN, SMOKED HAM HOCK AND RED BEAN SALAD
Tried this meal from my friend's plate. Nice crispy fish fillet, pumpkin was not roasted though, even further it was al dente
ROASTED RAPINI WITH COFFEE CURED COPPA FROM OUR CASE
Instead of Rapini the plate had Brocoletti
tasted fine, al dente as well
would prefer if they were more charred or further cooked
TURNIP STUFFED CURLUGIONES PASTA IN BLACK APPLE BROTH
Did not taste like it was properly seasoned.
Pasta looked pretty but tasted tough and chewy
Had no problems with returning it to the kitchen
Reasonable and professional manager
AUNT BONNIE'S APPLE CAKE
Ice cream was delicious
Cake itself was not as impressive
Decent espresso - no complaints here:)
3 stars because there is nothing in my power to make this place more like-able to me
and after tasting these dishes there is no desire to come back and try further
Jamie Hopkins
Very upscale restaurant, but they were still very family friendly. Food was sophisticated and flavorful, though the menu is very limited. Service was great. A bit pricey for the serving sizes.
Jane Zhang
We were a group of 7 and tried a variety of dishes on the menu. Found some really interesting dishes and enjoyed everything we had! the drinks were delish too! Would highly recommend
Clarissa Ragland
Absolutely amazing experience from start to finish! Superb service and dishes!
L. V.
Great service, pricey size, definitely a better fusion Asian restaurant type than the typical ones out there. Some of the dish were simply having too many flavors.
Samir Patel
Amazing food and drinks. Service was really good. A very innovative menu!
Damion Heersink
Outstanding. I haven’t had such delicious Asian Fusion in several years. My dinner was world-class, and the atmosphere and service were excellent as well. We’ll be back very soon.
Roel Harinck
Great restaurant! Wonderful dishes, very flavorful and exciting. Desserts are delicious. The restaurant has a nice decor and ambiance. Go for it, you won’t regret it.
Mark Unverzagt
A very worthy addition to the restaurant scene in the CBD/South Market area of NOLA. Delicious, fresh ingredients prepared with innovation and attention to detail. Service and drinks were excellent too with fanstatic desserts.
Alexis Y. Mueller
Excellent service, creative wine list, and out of this world flavors! The new lamb shank and roti, soft shell crab entree, and cold wasabi/ginger blue crab over local tomatoes app were all insanely delicious! Everybody go!!!!!!!
David Li Sik
We went in the middle of a Thursday afternoon so they were not busy. Great staff and service. The food was excellent albeit a little small portion-wise.
They did give us some free hors d'euvres while we were waiting for our food. I thought that was a nice touch. It gave us an opportunity to sample other things.
Layla Bird
Amazing; immaculate service and our food was PHENOMENAL - highly recommend for folks visiting town. Loved out hostess with the purple sparkly boots!
Elizabeth Ilberg
Nothing better cures the sins of the Big Easy then brunch at Maypop. Our party of 8 adults celebrated a 50th birthday weekend and enjoyed every entire thing on the menu (twice-lol). From coffee to Spicy buttermilk fried voodoo chicken, wok fired egg noodles to mimosas, Bloody Mary’s to crispy fried oysters, calamari and “the baodin” bao bun YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!
Jeremy Cooker
Fresh, locally sourced ingredients, prepared beautifully. Awesome vegan options, great ambiance. Chef Michael Gulotta is one of New Orleans' best-kept secrets - but not for long.
Alex Garmendia
Fantastic. Go there. Great vibes. Good atmosphere. Exceptional service. Everything we ate was top notch. We had everything on the menu besides the bibb lettuce.
Denis VERBOCKHAVEN
One of my best culinary experience in that price range. Food is all around a mix of Asian and Gulf : it’s surprising, well dressed and tasty. One not to miss !
Jose Martinez
Incredible food offerings in a very modern environment. The food choices were interesting and refreshingly different. The flavors melded together in ways that were unexpected but were beautifully complementary.
Chat Chow
Drinks weren’t the only thing on the menu during our weekend at Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans – there was plenty of good eating also to be had. To help us soak up the libations from the night before, we headed to Maypop’s much buzzed about dim sum brunch.
Maypop, which is home to Food & Wine 2016 “Best New Chef” Michael Gulotta, is located in downtown’s South Market District, and features a unique menu of elevated, Southern-influenced Southeast Asian cuisine. For the brunch menu, Gulotta and Chef de Cuisine Nick Stackeni created an array of non-traditional dim sum offerings showcasing different styles, ingredients and flavor profiles.
We started our meal with Savory Curry Beignets with wasabi & lime leaf powder before diving into the dim sum. Other traditional dim sum style items included the Spicy Bone Marrow Broth serve in a quart container, pan-fried Turnip Cakes served with housemade XO sauce, Octopus Shumai made with housemade octopus sausage stuffed dumplings topped with chili oil and spicy mustard, and Bacon Scallion Pancakes made with a small amount of grits for extra texture and served with a spicy cucumber kimchi and oyster salad.
While there were plenty of choice from the menu our highlights certainly were the pork and cane syrup sausage stuffed Sesame Balls, that are a savory play on the traditional Vietnamese dessert bánh rán and are both crunchy and chewy with a flavor that resembles pancakes and sausage. The Oxtail Dumplings were also a standout made with beef jus and turnip kimchi, and those looking for southern brunch fare the Crabmeat Toast can’t be missed. It’s made with warm crab and asparagus salad tossed in a green garlic vinaigrette, served on thick cut housemade bread and topped with a spicy roasted garlic and coconut oil hollandaise.
It’s New Orleans so you must have a drink (or several) with your meal. Our favorite drinks were the Vindaloo Bloody Mary made with spicy curry and clove flavor; the Espresso Sua Da with hoodoo chickory liqueur – a powerful pick-me-up and Maypop’s twist on a Vietnamese iced coffee – and the Maypop Java Freeze with frozen Mount Gay silver and eclipse rums, passion fruit, coffee and whipped cream.

Delicious combination of flavors on each dish. Great service

This is hands down my top recommendation to people for dinner or lunch. The ambiance is relaxed and casual but the food is mind blowing. The bibb salad is so freakin delicious, and not in that "Oh I'll just have a saaaalaaaddddd" kind of way. It's rich and crammed with flavor. My boyfriend and I go there often for date night because we can each have 2 drinks, a personal app, 2 entrees dessert and coffee for around $150 AFTER a well-deserved generous tip.

The bone marrow was mind blowing. The atmosphere and the look of the restaurant was perfect. The cocktails were great the smoke meat was amazing great time!
Kaisey Allen
Atmosphere is nice. Location is nice. My server Shawn (sorry if incorrect spelling) was nice and attentive. Good was good and I appreciate the small menu with lots of good choices.
Akhil Panwar
nice modern decor but the food can be improved. The menu looks like fusion of various asian dishes. I had roti lamb which was not upto the mark. though i would rate 5 stars for the waiting staff
Colm
Phenomenal, innovative and fresh tastes. My personal favorite asian fusion-type restaurant possibly ever. Get the bread service and the softshell crab and thank me later.
Kat Witt
Flavor layered upon flavor. Every dish I tried managed to be rich AND nuanced. And original. Even the steadfast crispy P&Js are a surprise here.
Plus the team is gracious and generous. Home run.
Bryan Carmack
Dishes seem to have way too many clashing flavor profiles that didn't seem to go together well at all. Nice atmosphere, but it has sacrificed good taste in favor of unique ingredient combinations.
Robert Breaux
Food and service were top notch! Came for a friend's birthday and they didn't disappoint. The frozen gin drink was awesome.
Richard Forshee
Maypop was fabulous! They serve an updated Thai cuisine with some Creole touches. All the food was delicious, and the service was great.
Brandon Winins
Excellent food and drinks... Only reason this isn't 5 stars is because of consistency... Servers are very attentive and nice... Food is an experience you shouldn't miss... Great dishes... Great prices...
Melinda Alleman
Beautiful presentation and phenomenal experience with my tastebuds
Oriyan Prizant
The mains were so good. Desserts were disappointing even though they looked very pretty. The attitude at the door was uncalled for.. we just wanted to add another chair to the table and they were very inflexible about it.
Michael Williams
Wow - the Asian / Cajun fusion food here is very good. Tried a number of things on the menu with friends. Able to eat keto, but not vegetarian very easily.
Leslie Molson
Maypop is in what is now a standard industrial space, with lots of natural light. I came for happy hour, and the drinks were fine, but the food (appetizers) was merely serviceable, not really having the taste suggested by the menu, for example, the "vindaloo" wings weren't spicy or hot, just wings.
Nikki Winders
Had both dinner and dim sum brunch here. Both were amazing! Trendy, cozy atmosphere and professional, friendly service.
Larry Janicek
Nice and clean, service is slow but think that's part of the experience, drinks are good, food is good but temp was warm not hot, of you know Asia food the lack of heat is disappointing.
Natalie Rose
Maypop was bursting with diffent flavors! Highly recommand. One of the chefs, Jay, told us, to come through and try it out. Our expectations were met. Try the salad it bomb!

When I confirmed that I was, he said he just wanted to make sure I what was aware of the Covid-19 situation and restrictions in New Orleans. I appreciated the fact that they were trying to look out for tourists and anyone else that might not have been in the know in that regard. must try
YJ Park
The food was amazing. You have to try the crispy fried oysters.
Erica Johnson
Creative fusion of local and Asian cuisine with tasty results. Don't be afraid to ask questions as the menu doesn't always tell you everything you want to know about a dish.
Rusty Havener

Service was good. Food was delicious. Can't stand the seating arrangements where you're packed in next to strangers. No privacy and it feels like you're in a college cafeteria with the chatter and lack of space
Denise Frysinger

Great quality service and food. Drinks were also nice. One of more hipster places in New Orleans
