Reviews of Mandina's Restaurant
M St. Julien
I've dined at Mandina's on several occasions. This time, Mandina's took great care of our party of 20! We started with drinks and several appetizers. Everything came out hot and fresh. I enjoyed the gumbo and it's dark roux. The half catfish half shrimp plate was good although not seasoned enough for my palate. Others enjoyed the HUGE stuffed shrimp plates, the stuffed eggplant and many other options.

So this place was recommended by the car rental agent at the airport. Best advice ever! It may be higher up on the price scale for a quick lunch, but you get the bang for your bucks! The dishes were yummy, and portions that will leave you needing a doggie bag!! Don't forget to grab the savory bread pudding 😋 …

Nice historic restaurant you must try. Food is excellent, but the pork chops were kind of tough. You would be best to stick to their traditional Italian dishes or fish. Bread is served as an appetizer and was amazing.

Mandina's is, from start to finish, the type of place you would learn about because it's your grandparents' go-to, then you take your first girlfriend, and eventually revisit with your wife. However, being from out of town, this was our first time and we are in our 30s. My wife tried the turtle soup because it's something we can't get back home and was surprised that it was a similar roux to a gumbo but with a well rounded and less fishy flavor. After reading an article from bon appetit on the wall, I was inspired to try an Italian dish and ordered the pasta with shrimp. My wife got the boneless chicken, which was akin to a southern-style schnitzel. Both were delicious. Service is old school and memorable with nothing left to be desired.

Mandina’s.
The name says it all but my personal experience was more than 5 stars. Upon entering this beautiful, home like place you are greeted promptly and placed on the waiting list (Good food to those who wait). Get yourself a comfortable IPA, or a face shattering Campari Spritz. Come prepared to eat, the portions are meant for the NO Saints football team. Words do not express properly what goes on, your own personal experience is needed for a complete story. Enjoy.

Host told us 45 minutes and it ended up 1 hour and 35 minutes. We were a parry of 6 and told him we would split up to be seated faster. He ignored our request and sat several parties that were after us before us. Our server was awesome, and the food was delicious. Although the porkchops were a little tough.

Went in during one of the busiest times and manager super accommodating.
Waitress very kind.
Overall, decent food.
Green beans were too salty to eat.
Dessert was a little weird.

The food is absolutely amazing! The chicken parmesan is definitely our favorite thing to get here. It's the best that we have ever had! And our waiter Chris, was excellent! Definitely recommend!! Caesar salad was delicious! Shrimp remoulade. Appetizer samplers was great! And of course the chicken parm.
Debbie Moore
After suggestions on Facebook, we tried this place out while at a convention. We had a party for 7. We started with the onion rings. They were probably the best I’ve ever had. Our party had steak, gumbo, chicken parm, and fried shrimp. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced. Our waiter, Chris was excellent. We went back another night and had Randy who also did a fantastic job. We had veal parm, corned beef, shrimp and steak and again, it was amazing.

Popped in for a mixed poboy and was pleasantly surprised. The bread was so light and fluffy it really made the sandwich. It was by far the best poboy bread I ate all weekend. The fried shrimp and oysters in the sandwich were plentiful and delicious. I went on a busy Saturday night and had a wonderful time. The place was busy and tables kept turning over so the wait wasn't long for anyone. I can't wait to go back!

If I could give this joint six stars, I would!!! Magnificent!! Everything I imagined. Great atmosphere, great people, and great food!!
My buddy and I grabbed dinner here while in town for a convention and we were ecstatic. I heard about Mandina’s on the SEC TV show, True South, and John T. Edge was spot on. What a historical, neighborhood institution. This place is dripping with family legacy (fourth generation) and the service and flavors reflect it.
A guy who was picking up a to go order suggested the po-boy and said the bread is different than most places because it’s below sea level. Whatever…HE WAS RIGHT!! The sandwich was incredible. I had the fried catfish po-boy and it was awesome. It was a great mix of soft bread, scrumptious fried catfish, and creamy remoulade sauce. The tomato and lettuce complemented the sandwich well. My buddy said the turtle soup was very good as well.
The service was amazing and the atmosphere feels small and cozy. When you’re here, you’re family!
Dave Crenshaw
Not a bad item on this menu. Great vibe. Perfect service. From Spaghetti n Meatballs to Eggplant Etouffee - you can’t go wrong. Be sure to try the turtle soup! Great Negronis and perfect martinis. You will be stuffed after dinner - but don’t pass up the bread pudding. My favorite place to take visitors in this fabulous city!

We didn't wait to get seated, waiter was brilliant and gave us suggestions and answered all of our questions. I got the French Fry Po Boy with Brown Gravy (hand in photo for reference). I got the Po Boy dressed and with swiss cheese as per the waiters suggestion. I got my brown gravy on the side so I could dip my sandwich. The food was amazing and everyone enjoyed their meals. We also got the Peppermint Bark Cheesecake which was also tasted amazing. One of the best homemade cheesecakes I have ever had! 10/10 would love to go back again someday! 😋
Traveling Goose
I heard this place was good, so we stopped in! We arrived mid lunch rush but still didn’t have a very long wait, service was friendly and upbeat (even with a full house) and the food was pretty good! Not a lot of seasoning but still cooked well enough that it worked out just fine!
Vickie Montalbano
The turkey dinner was ENORMOUS! Enough food for three, no doubt. Wedge salad was perfect. Awesome bleu cheese dressing. A bit of a wait (to be expected) Service was great!
Harmonese Pleasant
Mandina’s has been around SO long. I love stopping by for a quick lunch. Food is always great— never had any complaints. Service is always A1 as well. I would say it’s an older crowd who typically goes here. You’ll find politicians every now and then, people who are on their lunch break of course. Great spot!
Ricky Simpson
Pretty good food here! The onion rings are crazy. If you like onion rings trust me you want to get you an order from here, you'll thank me later!
Kristen Quinn
Portions are enormous. We had delicious calamari for an appetizer. I had half a fried chicken with fries and my partner had the open faced roast beef. Both were yummy and plentiful.
Dessie Hristov
Turtle soup. It's the memory I have when I used to live in New Orleans 20 years ago. It's so hard to find good turtle soup nowadays... Mandinas has it. I finished a bowl and then indulged in a creamy bread pudding. I recommend! 2 weeks after Ida so they were out if a lot of things, but everything I had was really good! It has its own parking, so that is not an issue. Will come back , hopefully before 6 years pass...
Cindy Rhodes
Mmmm good! Shrimp po-boy, dressed, roast beef po-boy, seafood gumbo, hot french bread. All I can say is “uncle”. This was by far the best fried seafood and THE BEST ROAST BEEF in NOLA. This 75 year old iconic restaurant is a MUST!!!! Come and eat!!!
Rosemarie menil
People love to be here to eat thier favorite italian food..Specialty the seafood and pasta.
If you come here you need to show your vaccination card for covid.
Serving is large you cannot finish it and you need to take away to eat other day.
Went home full stomach.Satisfied customer here

Impeccable service in a cozy and casual atmosphere. I’ve had Mandina’s on my to do list for a while and finally was able to join a fiend for dinner this week. Yes, the turtle soup was amazing. I also had the Salisbury steak, which is smothered in onion and that famous roast beef gravy. My friend claims that the Italian salad here is the best on the planet. It was very tasty with lettuce, celery, olives, green beans, onion and that Italian dressing. I soaked up all the extra dressing with French bread that is served with every meal. Not a bad thing to say about Mandina’s.
Chris Drake
Friendly people, great experience and classic New Orleans dishes. The real Classics. New Orleans Italian specialties, fish and soft shell crab Amandine, buster crabs - the good stuff. Just go. The meatballs alone are worth it.
Ian Coffey
Great local restaurant. My wife and son went there for dinner. Everything on the menu sounds delicious. We ended up getting the turtle soup and fried chicken. Everything was great. We ended up getting take out from there two days later. Next time we are in New Orleans, we will definitely be back.
CRYSTAL SCOTT
Cane from Houston expecting good things, let’s just say never again. The stars that I have reflected the location, hospitality, service, and accommodations for our large party. Honestly, nothing was just good. I had the shrimp pasta (don’t ever get) it was very dissatisfying to be quite drank, myself and another person ordered and I couldn’t take more than two bites. Lost my appetite as the shrimp were undercooked. Tried a piece of fried fish and that wasn’t too bad. The sauce poured over it (some butter Worcestershire sauce) gave it more flavor. I heard that I should have tried the po boys because they are good. So if you are going, I’d recommended you get that. Sorry but I must be honest. :(
Andrea Gazaway
Good food and great service from Chris our waiter. They were out of oysters so we got double shrimp on the seafood platter--enough for 3 full meals when we added the Buster crab. Also got the kid's spaghetti (gigantic meatball), stuffed shrimp dinner and shrimp creole. Great way to treat my out of town family to some wonderful NOLA food and still have a price that was very reasonable! We will always come back!!!
Patsy Campbell
Mandina's is our must-go restaurant for family gatherings. We all love it for different things. I always order their fried oysters, that while simply done, are the best in N.O. And we love that so many traditional dishes are on the menu. It's the best place to take out-of-town visitors to see how locals eat.
Beverly Mangrum
My boyfriend wanted to treat me to a local favorite restaurant on my visit from NC . Mandina's was an excellent choice of good atmosphere, good food, great friends and fantastic service. Our thanks to Drew, our server, who took care of us with class and style. If you visit, please ask for him....he's the best! Great service with a smile....you made my visit memorable. Beverly Mangrum

The real deal. You can't get New Orleans Cajon any better. The service par excellence without a hint of pushiness. Although a very crowded lunchtime the food arrived extremely fast and it was the best I had at any restaurant that I visited while in NOLA.
Matt Laesecke
2 visits - A diamond away from the tourist space. Food is really good. Service is better. Be ready to wait for a table; talk to the locals as you do. Exceptional place between airport and city. Travelers rejoice!
Cierra Nellums
Really good food, The ranch and the spaghetti was the best part. Service was good, kind of wish that food was a bit better, but other than that it was really good. Definitely should add more choices to the kids menu.
Tawnya Kennedy
Outstanding!!! Thank goodness we saw how large the portions were before ordering. Shared a chicken parm and still so full we can't breath. All orders seen being set down on other tables we huge, including the burgers and onion rings. You leave here hungry, it's nobody's fault but your own.
Agata Surowiec
“Half-half” 1/2 loaf and turtle soup
Fantastic lunch! Highly recommend it !
Von Keller
An outstanding restaurant that is generally a locals place, easy to reach on Canal Street. Wide menu selection and big portions. Great fried seafood offerings . Poboys and wonderful Italian dishes all are available
Huang Elena
So good. The shrimp salad is fresh and delicious 🤤
Erin S.
Delicious! We (party of 3) went on a Thursday night and we were seated immediately. We got onion rings, eggplant parmesan, fried shrimp and oysters, bruccialone (rolled veal with spinach and egg). We so enjoyed our meals! Our entrees were all less than $20 and were huge portions! Would definitely recommend Mandina’s!
Brittany Flokstra
Our first lunch in New Orleans. We would have never found this place on our own...our friends took us here after picking us up at the airport.
We had three appetizers: shrimp remoulade, crab fingers in wine sauce, and fried softshell crabs. I had a shrimp Po Boy with gumbo. Bread pudding for dessert. Food was cooked perfectly and tasted great.
Lisa Poche
Walked in and waited 15 minutes. It was worth the wait. The crab claws and seafood gumbo were amazing with garlic bread. We ordered the meatballs and spaghetti, chicken parmesan and the creole eggplant. Every dish was delicious!!!! The service was really good. Definitely a favorite.
Chevy53 Bulldog
What the restaurant lacks in updated decor, they make up in the QUALITY of their food! While waiting by the entrance and old vintage bar, scores of seafood platters were being distributed to customers. What's impressive was that there was no fishy aroma in the air. Their seafood is superbly & exquisitely fresh! Everything from catfish, seafood gumbo, tail less breaded fried shrimp, oysters, seafood sampler platter enough for two to share, etc...is worth the wait. They also make great succulent steaks and sandwiches (Po Boy). They do not have an assortment of desserts but keep it very simple like their bread pudding. This place should not be overlooked but should be visited at least once if in town! They've established this restaurant in 1939 and it's still going strong! It can get very busy and wait times can vary from 15 to 45 min during the week; imagine the weekends! Bon appetit!

We had a great meal at Mandinas on New Year’s day. Our party ordered a few apps and dishes, including the calamari, seafood gumbo, eggplant parmesan (our favorite dish of the night), chicken parm, pasta with shrimp, shrimp creole, and catfish almondine. Food came out so fast! Portions were huge and we had plenty of leftovers.

NEVER!!! Had a bad experience at this place. What a great place for my family. Great people work here , (everyone has a great personality)
All of my kids leave full. There's food for all of my teen's difficult appetite.
Thank you to all that makes our experience so nice.
Tina Payton
I had half shrimp & half oyster poboy! Delicious!
It was so big and loaded with shrimp & oyster I couldn't eat it all. And the price wasn't bad either.
Piratepress
Came here for the Veal Parmesan and was not disappointed. The sauce was rich and flavorful, although the veal was a little tough. I think next time I might try the Chicken Parmesan as it should be more tender. The Crab Fingers in Wine Sauce was a big hit with everyone (although they work out to be $1 apiece). Fried seafood was light and crispy, with good-sized portions, and my wife raved about the green beans. Free parking is a nice perk, but the restaurant itself is small and very noisy. In the future, I'll be sure to avoid it on game days!
Robert Silberman
If you love the authenticity of old school, combined with great service and wonderful food, you must go to Mandina's. Best Shrimp Creole, ever!
Matías Gagliardone
Great Italian food and really nice staff. They always have a box at hand for you to take away your leftovers -there’s always leftovers as the portions are huge-.
Chris Bramon
I have been going to Mandina's for my Italian/Creole food fix for over 35 years. It's my favorite go-to in NOLA! You better be HUNGRY when you go, portions are big.
Caleb Johnson
Absolutely authentic New Orleans seafood. The food is noticably fresh and the atmosphere is creole to the core. I highly reccommend this resteraunt for those coming through the area!
Jim Kocian
Spent some time in Gulfport Mississippi last ye Took a day trip to N.O. Someone recommended this place, all I can say is AWESOME. A must if your in N.O.
Pete Conrick
Oh my sweet baby, Jesus this food was great. Turtle soup with sherry is outta sight dip the bread into the soup it’s amazing. Eggplant parmigiana is enough for 2 to split as well. Great for romantic dinner we have leftovers of the eggplant and Tchopitoulas IPA on draft was a winner too
Cindy Keely
Away from the noise of the French quarter, this restaurant was a great find! Had the sampler appetizer, friends tried pasta and fish dishes that were thoroughly enjoyed! locally-owned and operated
Gerry de gruiter
Classic New Orleans neighborhood restaurant....been years since last experience.....went with my wife and granddaughters. Gumbo was the best as I remembered....others shared seafood platter and one had shrimp pooh boy...all delicious...excellent waiter...fair pricing
Chris Hanes
WOW! This place is a hidden gem. Portion sizes are very large and the food is downright delicious. We can highly recommend the Crab Fingers appetizer, gumbo (the bowl is HUGE) and Red Beans and Rice on Monday night (that's when it's a special).
My wife got the grilled shrimp salad and it was certainly enough to share. Tomatoes, asparagus, eggs, purple cabbage: the works!
Additionally, the service is incredibly nice and helpful, especially our guy Torrey. I couldn't make up my mind exactly what I should order and he gave me some guidance on what may hit the spot. He was absolutely right.
This place is a short Uber ride from the French Quarter - a straight shot down Canal.
Wes
My food was extremely delicious. The fried oysters were the best I'd ever had and the gumbo was exceptional. I was disappointed in my server though. It took far too long to get my drink and appetizer order. I was never offered a refill on my soda either. However, I came to eat good seafood and they got that part right.
Odie Anderson
Celebrated my mother's 70th Birthday 🎂 here. It was so good. We had a spot in the back next to a window, intimate it was. Large portion sizes on the seafood platter, my mom and I shared and we still had leftovers! 😋 …
John Shea
Just stopped in for a cocktail at the bar on Tuesday. Great service & all the food going by looked delicious@!'Will be back for a meal soon!!
Marty McMann
Old restaurant that has such a cool classic New Orleans vibe about it. The food was amazing and they give you some pretty big portions so you'll have some for later. It's along Canal Street so the views are pretty nice of the trees and trolley cars that pass by. Staff was really friendly also, I was a bit new to that style of food and they made sure I was happy with what I selected.
Sooch
Great place to eat. I always seem to get the veal parm poboy, which is so good. I need to try their fried chicken next. It looked outrageous!!! The wedge salad was the best I've had. Everything is great there.
James Wilson
Awesome meal! A local filled me in on this place. Had the turtle soup, a greens salad and the Gulf fish (Drum) Almondine w. Fries. Excellent service and you definitely go back next time I'm in town. Highly recommend, especially if you want to avoid the french quarter scene.
Joe Darden
Tucked away in the neighborhood, this place is where the locals go, and for good reason. Everything on the menu will blow your mind without blowing your budget.
This time I had the BBQ Shrimp PoBoy special. Comfort food at its finest.
The portions are very large, so come hungry. You will not leave here hungry at all. You will, however, likely have to go back to the hotel for the food coma. So plan accordingly.
Dewanda Smalls
All of their dishes are tasty. Their seafood appetizer is definitely delicious, and it's enough to feed two people. Their spaghetti and meatballs are delicious also. You cannot go wrong.
Dave Sawin
Great food and service. Do not miss this chance to treat yourself to the best meal in the area. About 15 minute wait time, use the time to check out the menu.
Brittnee Blair
This place a has a wonderful true New Orleans atmosphere and friendly servers. The soft shell crab is a must order if you get the chance and of course the bbq shrimp po-boy was an absolute winner! If you get the chance to stop in while in NOLA, you won’t be disappointed.
Kenna Stephenson
Atmosphere amazes and dishes are authentic with perfect flavor balance! Bartender, Emily and Drew are friendly and helpful staff, if you have one night only in NOLA this is the place to EAT!!!
Jeremy Lesser
Just pure excellence. This was one of the main spots I marked off for my New Orleans trip, and lucky for me, I was staying literally right around the corner. Just pure perfection with every bite, I loved every minute of it!
Nelson Ochoa
Our server was very attentive and friendly. The food portions was huge, and food was tasty.
Greg Johnson
Will try Mandinas Meuniere sauce on some gulf fish. I may have had some bottled meuniere sauce at whole foods but It will be interesting getting some local cook and seasoned food.. Anyway I ordered some crawfish cakes as Lagniappe. Havent been here in 20 years. I do remember the food here was pretty good at last eating
J Roberts
We stayed at a AirBnB house across the street from restaurant. We were only there for two night but we ate at the restaurant for four of our meal....WE LOVED IT!!! It was great to order ahead and pick up after alone day of being out with the family. The food it fantastic. It is great because we have a very picky eatter, one that only likes hamburger, one that is on a Keto diet (what ever that is). Then there is me and my normal grandson that will try anything. (Our age range is 10-65 and there was 6 of us.)
If you get a chance you must try this place but I have two requests. 1- you try it at the beginning of your trip cause your going to fall in love with their food. 2 - watch out for the claws in the gumbo they just might surprise you....lol
Bon Appetit...
Sean Kirschner
Wish I had known about this place a long time ago. Everything was great. To include the vibe and the service. Best plate of spaghetti I’ve ever eaten.
Frank Valls
Is Mandina's. Is always good. Had a wonderful fried shrimp salad with a big cup of remoulade sauce to pour over it. Perfect.
Linda Shaffer
We had the best waitress! Service was impeccable fast, friendlyandefficient. We were a party of 8 with no reservations on a Saturday night, seated right away. We all tried different foods, three in picture Shrimp Creole over Rice and PeasCreole Eggplant served with Pasta (with Shrimp, Crabmeat, Ham and Seasoning)
Crawfish Etoufee with Rice and Vegetables and I can't forget filet. Everything was absolutely delicious and huge portions!
Jesse Ganpat
We wanted to try a new spot today and randomly picked mandinas. It was 4 of us and a baby. We had varying dishes, salads, sandwiches, gumbo and a Salisbury steak. We were not disappointed at all. Every bite was delicious. Even the complimentary garlic bread surprised us at how tasty it was. Service was always available without being too much. Will absolutely be going back.
Ren Maheu
Fantastic service, delicious food and drinks! This was also the cheapest fried shrimp platter i have found in the last 6 months. It was delicious! Thanks you Mandina’s, will be back soon!
Mike Chicago
Been here a few times. It's an old style Italian place, with lots of pasta dishes and seafood on the menu. They've been churning this out for decades and it shows. The portions are big. I had spagetti and meatballs this time. The noodles are average, the red sauce is seasoned and delicious, and the meatballs are fantástico. Herbs and flavor, good meat.... wonderful. I always say, if and Italian restaurant can't make good meatballs, no need to try anything else. Just leave.
This restaurant has me coming back.
Stephen Graffeo
A true New Orleans classic, not to be missed. A favorite stop after cemetery tours, in particular. Thanks, y’all!
John Fahrion
Generous portions, great food, wonderful atmosphere. I highly recommend this place!
Charles McCabe
My wife had spaghetti and meatballs, I had Italian sausage. Travis, the server was quick, responsive and kept us in drinks and bread. He was pleasant and professional. It was a good lunch.
Lena (creolebeauty82)
Food here is always delicious. Love the Veal Parmesean, various seafood plates and daily specials that never disappoint. And if your lucky sometimes you'll see local celebrities such as Irma Thomas.
Tyson Hutchison
The staff was great and the service was very fast! Great food to boot.
Gatlin Lowe
Our server, Drew, was absolutely amazing and the food was the cherry on top.
The pork chop and muffuletta amazing. The green beans are the best I’ve ever had.
Lauren Parker
This place is amazing with excellent service! Chris was our server and he was SO attentive and personable. The service and quality of food are both impressive and such a quality of this city. Highly recommend!
Salvadore Liberto
The gumbo is generally very good and the nice buttered bread - soft inside, crispy outside - is always tremendous. I must confess to have likely outgrown the fried seafood offerings, which now possess an overly-coated sameness. The French fries seemed to be battered in my latest trip, and this unacceptable. You're not running a Checkers. I will have to attempt the grilled offerings and perhaps the Italian dishes before passing a final judgment or avoiding Mandinas in the future. In the end, Mandinas, it's likely me and not you. I am the one who has changed from so many years ago when your fried shrimp with the golden stuff of one's boyhood dreams.
Tara Cayson
After Katrina, I thought this gem was lost forever. We recently went back to Nawlins and I looked it up just in case. It's back and better then ever. The only restaurant I will order turtle soup and for good reason...it is sincerely the best. We had already eaten when we arrived but I didn't hesitate to order the soup and crab claws. The servers are all awesome. The portions, especially sandwiches, are enough to share hands down. The "must go to" place in the big easy.
Julian Augustus III
Service was great. If you’re wanting to do lunch, then reserve and arrive early. Hamburger Steak with Mashed Potatoes and String Beans was clutch!
B N
One of my favorite New Orleans spots. There’s always a line
Stephen B Marshall Sr.
Seafood gumbo was great. The wait person advised us to split the order of Veal unless we wanted take home. She was right.
Chuck Bennett
Service is so so. Etoufee was bland, avoid the green beans, they came right out of a can. Shrimp bordelaise needed help. New Orleans has better.
Lynn Godley
Great service, nice waitress for our large table!! seated quickly had some wine and lived our atmosphere!!
John Dicasali
Exceptional and exceptionally friendly wait staff. Rich desserts, soft shelled crab topped with shrimp etouffe, and onion rings as big as your face. Try it all!
Dagny Krogh
Food was good service was good cannot believe they do not have sweetened iced tea at a New Orleans restaurant place was very crowded took 30 minutes to get a table but it was noon
Teneshia Smith
The food and atmosphere was great!! Prices reasonable, but the only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because the menu doesn't describe wats in the food!! Will definitely go back!!! I had the stuffed shrimp and all I could do was eat 2 outta the 4 cuz they're so filling
steve blank
Customer for over 50 years, always enjoyable but will not order the stuffed shrimp again not my jam but it will not stop me from going back luv luv luv mandina's.
Lance Gaulon
This also can be considered one if New Orleans must go to eateries. Every thing on the menu include the daily specials are truly home grown a must eat place in new orleans!
Lorne Wikstrom
Very good food. Nice selection of Italian dishes and some seafood. Burgers too.
Ralph Lindsey
Been going there since I was 13 years old... I'm 71 now... and the service is second to none...let alone the menu,it's still impeccable...very good 👍 …
Bri Goodwin
This place opened in 1937. Its a locals spot. Amazing food? Blended with Italian and Creole. The sauce is to die for
Rod Alonzo
Amazing po’ boys and gumbo! Excellent service.
DJ Lowe
Excellent service. Food was fresh, and tasty. Gumbo was very good, as well as the fried seafood.
Cynthia Olsen
Old fashioned Italian restaurant with a creole twist, right off Canal St. Where all the locals eat, multiple rooms, great for large groups, huge portions so think about sharing. Start with the eggplant parmesan sticks for the table and a drink while waiting. Went for appetizers and drinks and left not wanting dinner. Oyster artichoke soup hardy. Gumbo rich. Family style.
Jamie L. Lemay
Amazing food and perfect service by Kelis (unsure of spelling). We bought concert tickets last minute while at dinner, and our server printed them out for us! Who does that?! Delicious fried shrimp, onion rings, and soft shell crab po boy. Very simple atmosphere but very friendly.
Dennis Kamstra
As always food and service is the best. It's no wonder it's such a New Orleans favorite.
Kelly Grago
Charming restaurant away from the hustle and bustle that is Bourbon St and the French Qtr.
Spacious dining room, courteous friendly staff, and delicious food.
I ordered the Pork chop and my husband got the shrimp creole and both were amazing.
Do not miss out on the red beans and rice.
Delicious. We will be back!
Oscar Beltran
Delicious. I had the Sunday special, eggplant w pasta. My wife had the shrimp. Calamari to start off with. Server was great and attentive. So were the busboys. Clean room. Bathroom was clean. Lots of food, had to get to go boxes for both. This restaurant has been around since the 1930s so it was a nice piece of history to visit.

The best restaurant we ate at while in New Orleans! My husband and I say best Italian we have had to date and we travel often. I had a shrimp garlic linguine and he spagetti and meatballs. We always try new things but we wanted to go back for a second meal it was delicious! The waitress was sweet as well. I saw a show highlighting the restaurant a few months later. I think its call True South. What a great family run restaurant in one of my now favorite cities!
Regina Davis
Come for the turtle soup. Stay for everything. The wait staff was so attentive but they leave you alone to eat like they should. Drinks are good and strong, seafood platter is enough for two and the catfish is so good. Fried oysters are delish. Turtle soup.... Reviews are correct, this is how it's done. The fresh gulf catch was grilled and moist. Well worth the wait to get in.
Lisa Ramsey
Fantastic dinner large portions very historical feeling place! Helped a woman celebrate her 100th birthday too!
Michaela Williams
i visited this place last year and before covid it was on my to do list to visit this year. it took me so long to find my picture of food reason this review is past due. when i tell yall i aint never had fish so good i aint never. the waiter was a wonderful older lady. it was a great experience for me and my friends. i will be back. that crab ball was amazing. its so much more good things i can say about this place but i will end my review here.
Louie Playford
Away from the tourists. Great food, reasonable prices. Enjoyed the soft shell crab. Others in my party had an excellent ribeye. Seems like this place can get busy in the blink of an eye though. We were glad we beat the dinner rush.
Alejandro Hernandez
Staff is great, kind and caring. The food is among the best, and truly New Orleans you can have.
Russ Anderton
Recommended by a local and did not disappoint. My wife had the soft shell crab and I had the reddish - both were outstanding. Only thing to be aware of here is they like to fry everything - we loved it but realized that isn't preferred by some.
David Nguyen
Pretty good. Got the spaghetti and meatballs since I was hearing good things about the red sauce. It was pricey but portions are large. It also came with a piece of bread. Overall pretty good.
Dave Cecchi
As an out of towner this was a fun "more local" place to visit. Had the shrimp po boy and some of the legendary onion rings. Rings were delicious DO NOT MISS... The po boy was good but not great. Needed another 4 or 5 shrimp for the price. Service was efficient but disinterested. Excellent atmosphere. Maybe just a mis-order?
Robert Schindler
Mandina's is always perfect.we had a party of 7 and everyone was thrilled with their food.
Michael Richards
Me and my good friend dine here quite often. They have great daily specials. The turtle soup and gumbo are always quite tasty...
Cherrie
The food was delicious but the wait was 4 EVER. They need to get a new hostess..She was very slow and it was hard to recognize her as the hostess in plain clothes and a sweater. Make sure u eat a snack before u go.
susan foote
Great food, friendly, courteous, attentive staff! Huge portions!!!
Definitely recommend!!!
Rickie L Jones
It’s always cold in here. They make a good fish meniere
Emmanuel Bairaktaris
Typical New Orleans cuisine with a lot of typical dishes and daily specials, the portions are enormous. A good place to visit if you want to try the local cuisine in an authentic setting.
thadsjoint29
This place is a N'awlins original. The food is stellar and fresh and the old school atmosphere is welcoming.
Di Ma
Great home food . Great service!!!
kevin bernard
Great food , great waiter, no one should leave here hungry
Miguel Gances

April Fradella
The food is absolutely delicious. & their prices are pretty decent as well
Jammy Erwin
I can’t write anything about Mandina’s that would do the experience justice. This is a great restaurant and great food. Be sure to get the onion rings - you will not be disappointed. The gumbo was yummy and my fried shrimp po’ boy was perfect. Take the Canal streetcar up to Scott, and just enjoy this classic New Orleans Italian restaurant.
cedric lee
If you want real, down home, authentic New Orleans food, go here! I didn't get pictures because it was so good. I had the fried catfish along with red beans and rice. Let me tell you, the red beans and rice could have been a meal all by itself! I couldn't finish it. Great service and friendly staff. You could tell a lot of locals eat here as well.
Terry Pitman
We eat here every time we come to town, never fails, it is ALWAYS PERFECT!!!! My wife has to get the Creole Stuffed Eggplant! She always says it tastes just like the one her mom made!!! The PO Boys are great, as is everything else I have tried!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU CHECK THIS PLACE OUT!!!!!!!😀😀😀

The Warm, salty, buttery italian bread is worth the trip all in itself!
John
In New Orleans for Jazz Fest and the stop of the last day for authentic New Orleans neighborhood.food Always good!!!
Sherita S.
Great food, nice ambiance, reasonably priced. The entire team walks the floor to ensure cups stay full, tables stay clutter free, and guests stay satisfied. Our waiter was Chris and was/is hands down the best waiter I have ever experienced.
Robin Lunsford
Incredible food, turtle soup, onion rings Omg. And huge red snapper with alond Dean gravy. A must stop.
Tracie Odom
Love It Always Go There When In New Orleans
That Crab Ball and Garlic Bread Is The Best 🥣
Tony Cain
This was one of the most pleasant restaurant experiences I have had in quite a while. The food here is wonderful and the service is excellent. Locally-owned, multi-generation owned restaurant. Quintessential New Orleans. Took a group that had never been before. Everyone raved about the experience.
Mary
The food is always great! The service from our waiter was superb, and we enjoyed his suggestion on the eggplant dressing. 😋
Mike & Joetta Somervlle
Great meal and great service! We had eggplant and chicken parmesan, both were huge servings and very delicious. Our server was very friendly and personable, answered all our questions and steered us in the right direction. Thank you!
Quay Rashad
Wow!! This has got to be the best food and Smitty and Dwayne the waiter is the best in the CITY!
Vicky P
This restaurant is always a special treat! The spaghetti and meatballs are the best in town. I love the employees as they are super friendly and extremely welcoming. My Husband also had the liver which he hasn't stopped talking about. The portion sizes are more than enough to have leftovers and we always leave stuffed. They didn't have the bread pudding when we went, but we definitely will be back to try it since we've heard so much about it.
kaye nicholson
Good service. Incredible seafood. Delicious iced tea. #popularplace #seafood
Robert Peters
Everything in this place screams good food! I've never got something that I didn't love !!!
Samantha Russell
Best Hamburger. Don't get the muffalata becayse it isnt good and dont get the jazz bites even though they taste good they don't give yiu enough for the price.
Patrick Kaulen
We ate at this restaurant on Dec. 28, 2021. We were sat immediately and had some of the best service and food of our entire trip. We ordered the gumbo bowl (which was huge) and two entrees. My wife ordered the fried redfish and I ordered the shrimp sandwich. Both entrees we're enough for two, maybe three, people. The bread at the table was buttery and melted in your mouth. We wanted for nothing and had everything we wanted served to us in a moment's notice. This is one of the finest and most impressive restaurants I've been to in recent memory. Check this place out if you have any want for true cuisine on your trip to New Orleans.
scott mcclanahan
A wonderful experience, everyone coming to New Orleans should try!
Jeremy Little
Great service, shrimp and fish plates was huge and looked great.
Matt Galey
Great vintage restaurant on Canal near the Fairgrounds. Turtle Soup, Oyster and Artichoke Soup, and incredible Seafood and Italian dishes!
Paula Watts
The best food I've ever had! Wonderful service too.
Kirstie Bryant
Food was great 25 years ago and still darn good.
Brian Bogan
Service is tops great. I tried the BBQ Shrimp Po-Boy. I'm sure it's good but mine was not. There was no seasoning on the Shrimp and the BBQ sauce tasted like Roux that was half cooked. I was very dissapointed with the Sandwich. So much so that after I took a bite I passed it off to the table for whoever wanted it. My sister had a Garlic Oyster Po-Boy which was the business. Going back I can't express just how sad I was after that bite. I mean this spot came highly recommend and I'm telling you if this is what they tasted and recommended I'm dissapointed in them as well. The fried Eggplant was good but the oil should have been changed yesterday or the day before. When back in the city I might try them again when back in the city but if they miss the world will know.
Marcella Gilbert
What a Great place for seafood, while home visiting for my Moms and Aunt birthday my Aunt requested this cute little restaurant, you'd think it was Italian but oh no the Seafood platter was the BEST ,there was Catfish, Shrimp, oysters fries, huge onions rings and this crabmeat ball to die for! Omg, I wanted to take pictures but I was to excited and hungry. Yall go! Its well worth it! And the waiter Randy was The Best!
Beatrice Norwood
Mandina's has the BEST stuffed shrimp and their chicken parmesan is excellent.
Pia Jacobsen
Gr8 tasty food & fast service
Had turtle 🐢 soup & 1/2 oyster po-boy dressed
bonnie boylan
The biggest soft shell crab meuniere. Turtle soup was delicious.
Kimberly Reinerth
My husband and I both got the roast beef po boy and I must say I wasn't very impressed. There wasn't enough meat and a number of the pieces had gristle and fat to the point that my husband threw his away and I gave my decent pieces to my dog. I don't usually write bad reviews but for the price it should be much better. My in laws had Salisbury steak and liked it, which is why I gave a 3 instead of lower. Sorry guys but there's always room for improvement.
Rip Kerry Friesen
Great local experience. Food was great generous portions.
Yvonne Simpson
Not knowing anything about this restaurant, we tries it on our first night in NOLA. Amazing find! We enjoyed everything we ate from the crawfish etouffe to the red fish po' boy. Staff was excellent amd took time to answer our questions. We hope they have another 100 years in the business!
kelle thorsen
Delightful! From the salad to the fresh toasted bread, to the meal. The service was attentive and knowledgeable ♡♡♡
Barbara Yates
Mandinas never disappoints. Yummy onion rings and oysters fried like they were cooked for Jesus. Waiters that smile so big. What's not 2 like?
Jeff Knight
The Spaghetti and Meatballs, Eggplant Parmesan, and Bruccialone were delicious and Susan, our server, was fantastic! We are here from Maryland to visit our son and new daughter-in-law and grandson. If we lived here, we would make Mandina's one of our regular places to eat.
Carla S
Loved this restaurant! Visited on vacation and would definitely go again if I return to New Orleans. Everyone's food was fresh, well seasoned, and delicious! Authentic cooking. No microwaves in this place. Recommendations: Salisbury steak, spaghetti and meatballs, cheesecake, strawberry shortcake, onion rings, club sandwich, fried fish, shrimp pasta, hamburgers - probably everything on the menu. Service was excellent as well. Very friendly and accommodating staff.
Christine Meier
Great, old school restaurant. Turtle soup was delicious.
Cassie Sheffield
Nice place with some good creole favorites, huge portions, & quick service. We had a group of 8 & were seated immediately. The apps arrived promptly & the food came out soon after. The portions are plentiful & the food is perfectly seasoned.
Jason Penwell
The bartender was overwhelmed and seemed to be at a loss while we were trying to get drinks, waiting for the table. Once we were seated, EVERYTHING changed. The waiter we had was absolutely amazing (wish I knew his name, I’d recommend sitting at his table). The food was definitely delicious and portions were HUGE. The waiter went above and beyond to ensure we were happy and had the best experience possible while in NOLA.
Rachael O'Reilly
Top notch local cuisine at prices that won't break the bank. Homey atmosphere filled with art from previous Jazzfest posters and local performances.
Marvin Stephen
Best turtle soup in New Orleans, place is a gem will be back. Keep up the great cooking
Bryan Silversten
Great Italian / Steak /Seafood / Daily hot plate specials and fantastic service then throw in some mixed drinks... you'll have a great experience. Ambiance is classic New Orleans.
Lyle Buzzy Ragas
The Creole Catfish is Delicious!! Light, Healthy, the Vegetables Where Perfect & The Service is On Point!! ⚜⚜⚜⚜⚜
Hillard Wheeler
Food was excellent, but what made me really feel great was asking for my vaccination at the door. Because they cared, I could feel better about eating in this establishment. The server was outstanding he just was spectacular
Tricia O'Hara
4 Stars was given only for my entree. I ordered Italian Sausage and Spaghetti. The red gravy (as New Orleanians call it) was by far too much and too much like what you buy at the grocery store. It did not taste homemade.
5 Stars are given for the FABULOUS TURTLE SOUP AND WONDERFUL SERVICE. No one does Turtle Soup better. And our waiter was young and gave us better service then I received when I had dinner at Galatoire’s, a New Orleans institution, on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter.
Definitely go to Mandina’s on Canal Street. Just order something other than what I did.
Chai Montgomery
We enjoyed the casual dining and warm service at Mandina's Restaurant. The portions were ample and the food was good.
Melissa Moore
Good food and service. Chicken parm was great! Must try place
Stephanie Roshto
Top notch eeerything...
Charles Edward Lincoln III
Solid B++. But not "A". Great location on Canal near my truly excellent chiropractor Dr. Archer. Seafood Gumbo was fair but not "prize winning." Of course I know, because my Clairese is an actually prizewinning Acadienne cook. Crabcakes and Shrimp Remoulade likewise. Bread service was excellent. Waiter, also nice-enough, seemed either tired or slightly stoned.
Evan Wilson
Amazing amount of tasty food for such a low price!
sabtab
Delicious food, very generous portions and great service... we had fried catfish plate, the day gulf fish( redfish) with meuniere sauce and roasted potatoes, and a house salad( large enough for 2) with their delicious house Italian dressing. Everything was perfectly done. Highly recommend!
Ben Pittard
Generous portions, reasonable prices, great service and atmosphere.
Anne Sharkey
Amazing food, drinks and service. Everything was excellent.
Martha Mireles Keith
As a tourist I enjoy asking the locals where they go to eat and this was one of the best places that I've had gumbo at, and the service was excellent. Friendly staff and good food great atmosphere and family friendly.
Pat Burke
Traditional New Orleans eatery. Their small parking lot is very convenient. Service was very good and food was good but we wouldn't say exceptional. Portion sizes were reasonable tho. The biggest disappointment in our group was the steak lover. The waiter said it was a ribeye but it looked more like a sirloin or strip & he thought it cut harder and tasted tougher like one too. The turtle soup was as good as ever and the shrimp salads were delicious. The redfish almondine was nicely prepared. There are other places nearby that we prefer.
LaTasha Jackson
Good food and beautiful day to sit outside and enjoy the weather!
Adrianne Montoya
Delicious comfort food with generous portions. The Fish Meuniere/Almondine keeps me coming back, but the oysters are also excellent. Attentive, professional staff and charming old building.
Anna Bunch
I loved eating at such a historic and enchanting place. I didn't get the spaghetti and meatballs or fried catfish but I wished I could have after I saw those meals going out to others. The meatballs were larger than softballs and the catfish was stacked high on the plate. My meal was still wonderful as was my family's.
Dov Glazer
This place is popular and no matter when we arrive for dinner, there is a long waiting line. Last time we had the grilled redfish with boiled potatoes and string beans. Very generous portion, delicious meal! Service above and beyond the call of duty.
Christopher Lyles
Delicious food, wait staff was incredible!!
Paul Amiss
Every dish was delicious. Shrip creole, shrimp salad, catfish almondine.
mary bailey
It's one of my all-time restaurants that I must visit when visiting New Orleans!
Phillip Ward
Great service. Delicious food!
Jason Patton
One of my favorite places to eat when I’m in New Orleans.
Christopher Walker
Gumbo was amazing. The wife had the fried shrimp which she enjoyed. Free parking, a must in any New Orleans trip.
Kelley Q
Delicious gumbo, veal, french fry poboys. Great food . Parking bad on rainy days , wear rubber boots . :)
Tiffany Berntsen
I wasn't too impressed. Foos was bland. I got the shrimp creole special and something was really missing. It didn't taste bad, but it wasn't great. My significant other got half fried chicken. He loved the crust and juiciness of the chicken, but again, flavor was not up to par. Atmosphere... I'm not really sure, it was awkward and I don't know if it was our service or layout of the place. Service was nice, but wasn't significant in anyway.
Georgette Hastings
My family loves Mandina’s. Their Italian salad is the best bar none. Soft shell crabs and other fried seafood are delicious, BUT they have a miserable habit of forgetting important stuff like the dressing for the Italian salad or the meunière sauce for the fish on “to go” orders. Not sure how this can happen so consistently at what I think of as a quality restaurant, but it is really infuriating.
Robert Dickerson
Very different atmosphere for me not bad only different maybe because I am not a native we shared fried eggplant appetizer we both enjoyed (was plenty) and then I had real parmigiana with spaghetti that was a HUGE portion and was delicious. She had chicken parmigiana and spaghetti and it was also HUGE portion she enjoyed. The menu is quite varied and difficult for me to choose everything was enticing. Oh yeah, also had a cup of artichoke and oyster soup, a different soup for me and I enjoyed.
I would go again and try a few of the many different items on the menu.
Andrew Putnam
Had the one of the best po boys of my life here. The gumbo was also good.
Jack Sweet
Portions were huge. The seafood gumbo is great. I had the Wednesday Special, Stuffed Bell Pepper with Mac & Cheese and Lima Beans. The Bell peppers were and the Mac were very good. I don't like Lima Beans that said, when I saw these, I knew that I had to try them. I was blown away. They were fantastic!
Hugh
Delicious food. I got the gulf fish meunière and it was fantastic. A seriously large portion of fish in a delicious sauce. If you’re looking for friendly service in a old-school environment this place can’t be beat.
Skip the crab fingers though, to me it needed to have garlic to be a great dish.
donna valva
Would give more stars if I could. The food was delicous. Serving sizes extremely generous, and our server Stephaine was extraordinary. She is a skilled professional with such an authentically warm and friendly approach that we would go back to Mandinas just to chat with her again!!!
Tracy Crow
Love Mandina’s but last two times we went there the meatballs and spaghetti were not so good. Meatballs tasted like they didn’t have no seasoning in it just rolled up meat 😳. Please fix this! That’s my favorite thing to eat there! Everything else is awesome! …
Summer Gallagher
Chris, our server, was such a nice sweet guy, the food was very tasty, and the service even better. We had a 25 minute wait time, with a party of 7 so they were great about that. The sprite was bad, probably a issue with the soda machine, but it’s whatever. Overall a great time and a great experience.
TLDR, give Chris a raise
Gene Garza
Delicious food, good service and a very casual atmosphere. A decent selection of food. A little pricey, but still a good experience.
Alyssa Carter
There were so many good items on the menu that we had a hard time choosing, AND we were hungry. So we over ordered because they provide huge portions. They will split orders to share and this way you can taste a variety and then roll yourself home with a very full but happy tummy. Can't wait to go back!!
Erika Manning
Breaded veal and fries were amazing. Best fries I've ever had
Ted DeRuyter
Good service. Waitress was very friendly and helpful. Everything tasted good. Only disappointment was that everything was fried. However, that is on me for the choices I made. My wife had the creole eggplant special that was very good but super rich. Was difficult to even finish half. Still. We enjoyed the place and would recommend for a good locals restaurant. Their Old Fashioned are real good.
Wouter de Bie
We really liked this place. One of those old time restaurants with solid and affordable food. The spaghetti and meatballs was great and enough for two days and the catfish almondine was delicious. And the service was old style New Orleans no-nonsense. We got great recommendations from the waiter when he suggested remoulade on the shrimp cocktail.
Neil White
Very good at seafood gumbo, turtle soup, fried seafood of all types. Full of good old New Orleans middle class flavors and style.
Very food consistent. Always safe to bring out of towners because you can count on the same food and service. Strongest suggestion... add more grilled and saute' dishes.
Lu's Jewels
Classic New Orleans Italian. Soups & salads were good, toasted garlic bread, and awesome pasta dishes. The roast beef poorboy was great too. Too stuffed for dessert. Next time!
Spencer Mcdonald
10/10 Would come back, and recommend to those visiting Nola. Fantastic service, food, and atmosphere. Our waitress Susan/Dolly was phenomenal. We first became aware of Mandina's Restaurant from the show True South. When we began planning our trip from Lexington, South Carolina to Biloxi we made the decision to do a day trip into Nola, the time we have spent at Mandinas has been the best part about our visit. Getting to meet Cindy Mandina the owner was a true gift.
Julian Holloway
I wanted to love Mandina's. I was there for Red Beans and Rice Monday, and it was largely a disappointment. The beans looked and tasted like they came from a can, and the rice was bland. Their sausage is an Italian link, served whole, on a bed of red beans over rice. The sausage is a sweet, fennel-based Italian blend, which is not my personal favorite and in my opinion, doesn't serve the dish very well. The rice was unseasoned, plain, too starchy, and a disappointment. We dined upstairs, early in the evening on a Monday. They weren't busy, really, but five of us were seated beneath a noisy window rattler AC unit set to the lowest setting, and we were uncomfortably chilly. I'll give Mandina's another go, though, as the service was good, pricing is reasonable, and it's in a convenient location. Know before you go that they did ask for COVID Vax cards, and masks are required when not eating.
Ray Kalafsky
Really a great meal! I believe this restaurant is outside of the true hub of New Orleans but it is worth the few minutes to get here. The food will surely outshine the service which was a bit slow and uneven. I will 100% return when back in New Orleans in the next few weeks. Outstanding!
Roy Michel
Excellent appetizers and food! Great service, always attentive to the empty glass or dish. I had the red beans and rice, tasted like the beans mom used to make. Definitely worth a visit if you like Italian.
Peter Chanthanakone (Director)
Great service, 10% cheaper than other places but a bit salty....
Heather Verret
Went here after it was recommended by a friend & had one of the best meals we've ever had in Nola! Have been dieing to return! Amazing dishes served with southern hospitality.
Linda munoz
Great choice of food and wonderful service.
Sheri Wright
I love their spaghetti sauce, the oysters n shrimp, crawfish eutoffe, chicken parmigan. Eggplant with ham n shrimp!! Their gumbo and turtle soup is delish!! You basically can't go wrong there. Wait staff is excellent. Especially Nelda on the weekends. We just love her.
E A
Absolutely delicious! The servings are HUGE. Will definitely be back on our next visit to New Orleans!
Emily Young
I wouldn't say I had a terrible experience here but it was nothing close to good. The atmosphere is dingy, our server was not knowledgeable about the menu, and the food was very bland and overpriced. I had one of the Sunday specials (shrimp creole) and I was not impressed at all. It's too bad because this place was recommended by a local. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing.
kaimana misshmacon
Omg portions giant. Best mojito's in town. Food us crazy amazing. End with milkyway pie. I ran back in kitchen to tip these guys. Seriously great staff, cooks and food. Dont miss this place..i promise you.
Bennie Good
Perennial neighborhood favorite. Excellent turtle soup, shrimp remoulade and oyster poboy.
Alexander Barthe
What a superb restaurant! We got there close to closing and wondered how that would work. The staff were as professional as could be. Glenn took care of us with assistance from another gentleman making for a relaxing evening. I had the Mufalata PoBoy and the wife had a Shrimp & Oyster PoBoy. All in all, we have marked Mandina's as a go-to place when in New Orleans. All of the plates looked incredible and the staff were all very friendly. Well done guys...
Michael Young
Classic New Orleans seafood. Fried and grilled. Also Italian, spaghetti and meatballs, etc
Michael Sealy
Some of the best New Orleans has to offer. Lifetime tradition for this New Orleanian. Daily specials, perfectly fried seafood and onion rings, and Italian. True NOLA old-school cuisine
Queen Afua
Really good place great atmosphere and the staff is awesome I had the appetizer platter with the fried oysters, fried shrimp and fried catfish and it was delicious the Hilda old fashioned cocktail is a absolute treat
Jacob Wolf
Great food, atmosphere and service!
Carol Monaghan-Becker
It's fried oysters and fries for me here. Turtle soup, gumbo, and dessert are good too! Always stop here when in New Orleans.
Belinda Rose
2nd time here while visiting NOLA. Absolutely delicious. Seafood gumbo was awesome. Service with a smile. I highly recommend this local favorite on Canal St. Doesn't hurt to make a reservation.
Mike Anderson
Nothing bad on the menu....had the shrimp and catfish...delicious....great service
James S
We stopped in for lunch during our recent visit to NoLa. Everything was delicious! We started off with a cup of Gumbo and a shrimp cocktail and we ordered the Crawfish Etoufe and Shrimp Creole for our main courses. The portions were huge and prepared perfectly. Hands down the best Etoufe I've ever had. We're looking forward to eating here again next time we visit. Thank you for the exceptional hospitality and delicious meal.
Eric Allison
Great olde school New Orleans Dining experience with terrific staff & delicious food.
Bryan Johnson
Traditional old school New Orleans restaurant. There is no questioning the food here. You WILL think you're grandmother is in the kitchen. About the best part of this restaurant is the bad part about this restaurant IF you are used to the turn and burn atmosphere of any chain restaurant. You're visit here is meant to be like an old family dinner where you will take your time and talk and visit.
Ann Aleman
The young Busboy was excellent. Quite a help to his Waiter.
Lesley Gambino
Mandina's was packed. We had to wait an hour for a table but just stood at the bar and had drinks. The food was delicious and service great.
Chris Warner
Came recommended to me by a client of mine, definitely glad I came. Good local beer selection and great Cajun cuisine.
Kim Bryson
My out of town guests enjoyed the turtle soup, fried oysters and shrimp, pasta and shrimp and bread pudding. Large dining room with tables for 4. Large groups of families. Casual atmosphere. Good service. Noisy and up beat. A good example of local cuisine.
Sherri Clark
If you like flavor, don’t go here. The shrimp and catfish had no flavor. It’s like they didn’t use any seasoning at all. The French bread looked beautiful but tasted so bland. I was highly disappointed with the food.
I’m giving the restaurant 3 stars because the place was nice and the service was great.
Scott Buescher
The crab ball was amazing. Catfish was the best I've ever had.
Katherine Marcia
First time at Madina's. Gorgeous day to sit out side. I enjoyed my shrimp/ fries. Friend had spaghetti red sauce with sausage. All around good dinner
Don W (Don In 5)
Excellent food. It is definitely worth the wait. Great shimp poboys and gumbo.
Angel Gales
My friend and I went there-Monday around 12:00 noon. We ordered the seafood platter with soft shell crabs and gumbo. The gumbo and crispy garlic french bread were delicious.Platter was huge and enough to feed about three people. We enjoyed our meal very much. And we are going back again.
Kirk Kross
Very good place to eat with the locals 😀 …
Rati Tripathi
Thank you so much for this warm welcome to New Orleans! The gumbo is perfect in this weather. I really enjoyed the family atmosphere and I am appreciative of the attentive service from everyone. I will pass along the good word at my hostel and return for a proper meal.
I returned for a spice cake cheesecake. :) Thank you for your hospitality.
John Stile
Let me tell you! This absolutely the best and most delicious Italian cuisine I've had in the city of New Orleans. The staff were very friendly. The waiters were funny, friendly, and very attentive to our needs. Just an awesome meal and atmosphere. I can't wait to go back!!! Ty Mandina's and compliments to the best Chef in New Orleans!!!!!
Rose Michl
Good food. Generous portions. Had to wait a while to be seated. A little on the expensive side, but you get your money's worth. Had shrimp and oysters and fish fillets. Daughter ordered jumbalya, but was disappointed with the flavor.
Michael Hedge
Great food and have enjoyed eating here every time I am in town. I love the turtle soup and had the crawfish cakes which were delicious also.
The spaghetti dishes can be split between two people or you will definitely have enough for the next day.
The service is good and everyone is pleasant and helpful.
I highly recommend on regular basis.
B D Keane
Had a BBQ shrimp poboy and pumpkin cheesecake at lunchtime so delish. My friends from Tucson are now regulars when they come to town... worth the streetcar ride to midcity on Canal line
Ben Gitchel
Amazing as always excellent service and prime food
P G
Good food at decent price. This place always seems to be busy but we weren't rushed, even with a short line to be seated.
Rhodes Rules
Mandina’s is a go to restaurant for our visits to NOLA. As a couple we first dined at Mandina’s in 1999 when we were just 20 & 19. Still after 22 years, we always make sure we get a cup of thick, rich turtle soup and a bowl of hearty shrimp and rice creole. Highly recommend!!
Allyson Seitzler
Mandina's is one of the BEST Italian restaurants in New Orleans serving items with an authentic Creole flair. If you're a local or visiting New Orleans, Mandina's Italian and seafood restaurant offers traditional Southern home-style meals in a friendly, authentic environment. They offer everything from catfish to filet mignon, po-boys to Gulf shrimp dishes, original mahogany fully-stocked bar, and a list of delicious desserts. You can't go wrong here. Great for families and larger parties.
Doug Moore
The creole eggplant was excellent! It was a lot like a stuffing you would have for Thanksgiving but with seafood in it. Excellent service as well!
Laura Talley
Our server was fabulous. A very matter of fact woman who made her purpose known and did her job RIGHT. I liked her a lot. However the food is SUPER HEAVY and messed up my stomach for DAYS. Now, I say this with trepidation because I do lots of eating in NOLA, but the fried fish almondine just put me off food for a few days. I had to take it easy, which is not what I like to do when I'm surrounded by the best food in the world.
The food was good and it certainly could have been because I had never had the kind of fish they had on the menu at the time, but beware. It's a meal and a half.
Darrin Miller
Best seafood I've had in a long time! (From someone who hails from DFW, to be fair) The wait staff was incredibly nice, and the atmosphere was inviting and friendly. All four of us split 2 seafood platters, and we probably could have done fine with just one. Amazing fried seafood 👌 …
That's what she said. Literally.
ABSOLUTE BEST fried chicken on the planet!! (Their chicken parmesan is out of this world too.) Friendly, smiling waitstaff and dining room is always clean and tidy. One of my top favorite restaurants in all of NOLA and given the awesome array of food here, that's saying alot!
Tom Stolze
Amazing staff, great food, handled our large group without a problem.

Wow, talk about some great food in a foodie town. The seafood platter was so big, it could serve a table of 4. This place is so historic that they advertise "air conditioning". Service was pleasant - there when we needed him - invisible when we did not. The pecan cheesecake was stupid good. It is not a question of when if I will return, but when.

This place has a real New Orleans feel. The food is great and the portions are large. The waitress was very pleasant. A great meal.
amber
Our server was awesome. The place is always packed and smells good, but what we ordered for food was not as tasty as it was pricey. Make sure to order the half poboys unless you want 2 feet for $30! Our fried oysters weren't that good either. Theres fruit in the bread pudding too so heads up.
John S
Fried eggplant is some of the best in town.
Duke Beasley
Great food. Highly recommend the turtle soup. Soft shell crab was really good. It is pricey, but about the same as comparable restaurants. Take your sweetie there and they will be impressed with your culinary geography.
Peter Larsen
Friendly neighborhood joint. Serving sizes ranged from generous (grilled fish) to big enough for two (ribeye steak). Food was nice but not exceptional. Our server was friendly, attentive and efficient. Prices were a little high, but I'd go back.
Scott Key
Love this place! Great food and service, with a nice neighborhood atmosphere. Fair prices and no tourist trap. Just a few minutes up Canal. Put it on your list.
Ed Guillaud
Food was great, there fry cook does an amazing job. Everything was delicious. Would recommend it to anyone.
Matt Pelto
Went for lunch, great food, great service.
J Dial
Smaller menu but that’s ok because what they make they do it well. We did the seafood gumbo, 🍤 fries, PO boy and Chops.
Everything came out really well. The service is awesome. It’s the true definition of “mom and pop local spot” at its finest! We marked this one on the map and will visit another time.

Not knowing quite what to expect, my daughter, wife and I went to Mandina's early afternoon this Sunday, 5/31. We were pleasantly surprised to find the old place was just as wonderful as ever.
We were seated without delay in the main dining room, which had most of its tables removed, to honor the 6-foot spacing requirement. Attendance was modest in the early afternoon -- a little past 2 PM. The service was up to its usual high standard; Melissa waited on our party hand and foot, bless her.
My wife had only a light appetite, and she went with the crab claws in wine sauce. My daughter ordered the chicken parmesan, while I had a cup of seafood gumbo and the Gulf fish amandine. All were excellently prepared, with generous portions and were thoroughly delicious. Melissa was most attentive during our meal, and saw to our every want.
All in all, our visit made for a very pleasant afternoon -- a brief return to the new normal, which still includes many of the delights of the old normal. Mandina regulars should not tarry -- but hurry back to enjoy this quintessential New Orleans dining experience. You will not be disappointed.

Another great neighborhood joint in NOLA. The turtle soup is fantastic including the Sherry topper! Bring your appetite because the portions are large and very satisfying. The service is terrific and the staff is friendly.

Ive always loved this place and have been going since I was a kid. Always loved the food and atmosphere. A group of 6 of us went tonight, we had a good time and the food was on point as always. However, i think the attentiveness by waitstaff, in back dining area, could have been a little better and the constant slamming of dishes and the serving stands were a bit unnecessary.
Patricia Costa
First time in New Orleans for early Mardi Gras. Someone recommended this place for food. I ordered the grilled catfish with potatoes & string beans. It was good and I enjoyed my meal. And service people were very kind. Locals overheard we were from out of town and we're so friendly to come over and give us tips on places to go & avoid. Place could use an update on decor but overall was comfy and clean and enjoyable.
Theresa Gulick
Super good. The men in pur family loved the turtle soup and the Friday specials.
Stacey Rosenberg
Can take street car from French quarter on canal str. amazing homecooked feel and food
Byron Allen
HUGE portions! I had the seafood platter and couldn't even eat half of it! And the buttered french bread they brout out while waiting for the food was devilishly delicious! Also, excellent service. Great experience overall!
Lynn Charles
Good food. Oftentimes a place on my list when I go home. The shrimp salad is delicious and a must try.
early curly green
The food was delicious. The staff was very accommodating. After we paid and left to get ice cream, we had to return to use the bathroom and they were totally cool with it. Parking is strictly for patrons of Mandina's so be aware.
Ashley Hoover
It was our first stop after a 8 hour car ride. I was very skeptical even though the reviews are amazing. We started our meal with the crab fingers in wine sauce. I highly recommend trying this dish. Absolutely delicious, and I hate seafood. I had the stuffed chicken breast with green beans and cannied yams. The green beans had so much flavor, the yams where perfectly sweet, the stuffed chicken tasted like Thanksgivings. I was satisfied. My husband had fired shrimp. It was so refreshing having FRESH seafood.
The service is great. We got there a hour before closing and the staff was really accommodating. I highly recommend that you make this one of your stops.

10/10/10/10/10 💯 💯
I hope that explains how perfect their food is. High quality. The real stuff. I got the seafood platter. The crab ball was my favorite part. the breading on it all is literal perfection: flavorful and perfect texture.
Randy Parikh
Excellent food and service, waiter and waitress were good listeners and provided table and meal with specific request
Cathy Dandelakis
Excellent seafood gumbo and turtle soup. We split the seafood platter, which was good, because they brought a literal MOUNTAIN of food. We took home so much, we had another full dinner the next night. You know this is a great place when parking is terrible and every seat is still taken.
G Harrison
I was there today (7-19-21) for lunch. The food was delicious, and servings were generous. The service was great! But the place was full of flies!!! There were very annoying and WAY too numerous.
Janet Hamm
Great food and service!
lee d
Tried almost everything my stomach would allow! Great food
Kelly Hanson
Omg delicious! Huge portions! We shared the soft shell crab.
Jeff Leachman
Great! Highly recommend. Gumbo, roast beef poboy, spaghetti and meatballs. Just like momma made
Angela Sparks
Food was amazing!!! My husband and I ate here for our anniversary tonight. He got a steak and said it was great, I had the shrimp eftoufee that was phenomenal! Great experience and our server was awesome! Also they have parking which is unusual here in Nola, hubby says that’s a plus lol!
Shari Gordon
Went for lunch, I ordered 1/2 salad (with grilled shrimp) and cup of soup, taste good but I didn't care for the oyster & artichoke soup, it was more of an artichoke soup. If you like artichokes then you'll like this, I wished I ordered something else like seafood soup. Popular place, usually a wait, loud, good food, I would go back.

Who doesn't love Mandina's? Classic New Orleans seafood and Italian food for the every day crowd. Great drinks. Good food. Laid back atmosphere. If you haven't been you need to go.
Daphne Green-Benoit
I really liked the atmosphere. Even though there seemed to be some business lunch meetings going on there was a very laid back feel. The food was good. The service was great. The lunch special of the day happened to be pot roast❤️
Jen
Very good food we got a seafood platter house special to share. It was enough for bbn other of us to wall away fully satisfied. Atmosphere and service was awesome.
Marissa
The seafood platter was AMAZING. Our waitress recommended that 2 of us order and split it, so we did. Great recommendations from him.
Elizabeth Garcia-Smith
The food and service was good! Mandina's has been always known for good food. I'm from NYC and they are definitely over priced. NYC has authentic Italian and it's not that expensive; the ambience at Mandina's is okay it doesn't fit the price.
Reed Nolin
i ordered the seafood platter for both of us, and it was plenty. We had both already had gumbo and turtle soup, so unfortunately I was stuffed by the time the big pile of fried seafood goodness arrived. However, I still had the ability to eat most of my fish, and really enjoyed the fried oysters. I should have asked what type of fish, but didn't because I had drink too many Long Islands at that point. We really enjoyed the food, I will surely return, to this place, the next time, I am in the big EZSLZY.
Ellen Estevens
A classic New Orleans Italian restaurant, a combo of Italian classics as well as great seafood platters and poboys. I've come here when I'm in town for years and it never fails to please.
E Gib
Great NOLA vibe! I have been going to Mandina's for over 50 years and I'm never disappointed. My go to meal is their oyster po-boy.
Gina
Great service and wonderful food
Lucinda Jenkins
This place is quintessential New Orleans:family run, friendly staff, good "home cooked" Italian food. Large portions so be prepared!
Ann Von
The food is fresh and well seasoned. I loved the atmosphere and the staff was excellent. The only reason for 3 stars is the preparation of the shrimp. They do not devein the shrimp which I can't understand in such a nice restaurant.
Carina Brown
Food was good, a bit pricey and not much to choose from for those who do not eat seafood.
Holly Chapman
One of our favorites! My boyfriend always wants to eat here or order to-go! Haha and of course, I don't mind. Always satisfied with our food and/or dining experience.
rlp413
Had the turtle soup! Amazing!
Mary Jane Scott
Hadn't been to NO in about 20 years, but I am from southwest La. We came from New Mexico to visit family in April 2016 and had the best seafood platter I have ever tasted. Everything was cooked just right. I shared with my 5 year old granddaughter, who can put away some shrimp! and then passed food around to the whole table. We don't get good seafood here in Albuquerque area, so I was looking forward to enjoying dining in NO. Certainly was not disappointed. Thanks!
Toby Jason Potts
The food here is so good. The portions are crazy big.
M Hill
Food was good, not perfect. Great onion rings but shrimp was too cold when it was brought out. Waitress was busy and we had to ask for things more than once.
Kami Turner
The food was amazing. Our party had hamburger steak-grilled-onions-brown gravy with grilled potatoes and snap beans. It tasted soooooo good and the portion sizes for the price are very very satisfactory...one plate would feed a family adequately. Wow.
Keith Gonzales
Great Italian restaurant with traditional plates and seafood offerings. They have been around for a long time and it is easy to taste why. Solid restaurant with old time appeal, not noisy for the size crowd. A definite staple of New Orleans dining experience.
Janis Porche
OMG! Had half and half poboy: shrimp and oysters. So good!! Saw next table get daily plate red beans and rice...made me want that!!! Can't have it ALL! Will be back...FOR SURE!
Brandy Williams
I ended up here after Neyow's had a 2.5 hour wait. I was super excited about that mishap. This was my birthday, and I was trying a new place for the first time. My server made this experience amazing. I don't remember his name, but he was a taller, gentlemen- Black- and worked the section upstairs by the window. He catered to my guests. Now, the food, the food "spoke" for itself. I ordered the seafood platter appetizer. Jesus that was too much food, but was all good and worth trying to finish. The fish were fried but fresh. The shrimp had the perfect fish and flavor taste. And the onion rings were battered well. For my meal, I ordered the Chicken Parm....yassss! That sauce was perfect, the chicken was tender, juicy, and well fried and the pasta was perfectly al dente. Thank you for the lovely evening Mandinas.
David Sansing
Great NOLA Restaurant. Very big Menu selection. Daily Specials. And served at night. Eaten at this location 5 times. My favorite. Great and Great.
jon howell
one of the first places i ever visited in
n.o. over 30 years ago and its still there and still good.
fried food is thier stong suit
linda roberts
The food was great. It was very busy but there wasn't too long of a wait. I would return but I would not suggest there Italian food. The gumbo and bread was delicious.
Alicia Stensberg
Authentic New Orleans’ cuisine at its best! Full bar and menu with all the local favorites. The seafood gumbo and bread pudding were delicious! Staff were friendly and welcoming. Parking available onsite and the surrounding streets.
Jessica Chellberg
Pretty good, big portions! I ordered a club and it was huge and a side of French fries which came out a heaping basket, and the onion rings my bf and his mom ordered was stacked pretty good, very huge portions for your money.
Gregory Alexander
Excellent softshell crab. Very good service.
Fred Duplechin
Time honored greatness. You like oysters? Big, tasty oysters? This is the place for your overflowing oyster poboy! Great turtle soup and everything.
Phillip Kuhn Sr.
Been dining there since 1975, have never been disappointed with the quality or quantity of food. Service is always spot on.
Diane Romer
Fried oysters, shrimp and scallops. Fresh lightly breaded and delicious. Want a perfect Manhattan or great turtle soup, this is the place to go. Not a major tourist destination, mostly locals. Always good.
Victor Hastings
Perhaps my favorite New Orleans restaurant, one with a glorious history and a bright future, even though the menu barely changes. Neighborhood Italian and seafood, prepared flawlessly. Best turtle soup and shrimp remoulade in the city. Engaging wait staff. Great place to people watch. What more can you ask?
Jason Brown
In town for the weekend and decided to give this a try. They did not disappoint us! Not only is the food amazing, we feed a family of 6 for a very reasonable price. The catfish is probably the best I've ever had. Next time we come back we will eat here again!
jeff starke (iseektoknow)
Any time we meet friends in NOLA we eat here.
Over the years the quality and food has not changed much. That is a good thing. Another good thing is they now accept credit cards. I would hate to eat a meal and not have the cash to pay for it. But they do have an ATM machine around just in case
I had a 1/2 and 1/2 shrimp poboy fully dressed an a unsweetened ice-tea. Sometimes the unsweetened tea can be bitter, but this tea was good. It's the first time I've visited on a Monday morning the open at 11AM and there were already a few cars in the parking lot waiting to go in. It wasn't very crowded and we went upstairs and had a pick of which table to sit by. We sat by the window. My daughter was a little chilly as we were near the A/C-so she went to get a jacket. I was just fine. We go an appetizer of onion rings-piled high and my daughter got some fries on the side-and she said wow when she saw how many fries she got.
Upstairs was quiet and we enjoyed the mellow atmosphere with our out of town friends. Well we are not locals, but we get to NOLA about every other month. We will be back with other friends visiting or just to stop to get a bite to eat. As we left the downstairs area was bustling and noisy. But that's the charm of this lovely pink building. Almost like 2 houses put together.
Danny Braud
How we have to say it's a four-star seafood place excellent food fast on service Excellent wait waitresses and Waiters other than that the only bad thing to poker machines while that's no big deal and everything else was perfect I give it a. Four stars
D.B. Norton
Mandina's is a great place with even better food! The crabfingers are a must get and so is the turtle soup with sherry. You will not be disappointed by the huge portions! If you're hungry when you leave Mandina's you did it wrong. We had the fried soft-shell crab in a delicious brown butter sauce and the grilled shrimp pasta that was packed with flavor. Our waiter was awesome and very helpful with the menu. We always love making Mandina's a part of our trip to the Big Easy.
Jacqueline Jones
First time trying this restaurant. I will return. Order a seafood platter. One of the best seafood platter I have had. Thier Crab ball is to die for. Everything on the platter was so freaking good. Will be back on Friday❤❤❤❤❤
Rev. Albert Adams Jr.
My first time eating at Madina's. Nice atmosphere, our waiter was really nice. I loved the food; and I thought very reasonably priced. It's my wife's favorite place. Would recommend.
RJ Escoe
My favorite restaurant in New Orleans and turkey and oyster dressing with grill potatoes is just outstanding. Thank you for a great experience.

This is where my family goes to celebrate. Such a varied menu, something for my local tastes, shrimp for my wife and vegetarian options for my daughter. Always fees service. I've had the Catfish meunière a hundred times plus some soft shell crab. Turtle soup is always great
Carlos Bogran
Service good. Good menu selections. Food was room temp, edible but could have been warmer. My choice not to send it back. Would go back
Dale Washington
MY Family, has been LOYAL Customers of Mandina"s Restaurants, for OVER 60+ YEARS! The QUALITY of the Food, hasn't CHANGED! And, the Staff is still VERY PROFESSIONAL!
Bill Flagg
This is a good option away from the FQ and CBD that always has great food and service! We had a group of 8 there during the Essence Fest and everyone enjoy their meal. I went with the waiters rec on the fresh gulf fish topped off with crawfish etouffe that was amazing! But I have been here several times and always walked out full and happy! It's def worth a try!
Terri Kring
Our favorite neighborhood restaurant. Best turtle soup ever. Highly recommend
J T
The food is always excellent when dining in. I am never disappointed. I ordered from postmates and the half loaf gulf fish poboy was made to perfection. I decided to order again from postmates I am not sure what happened but the fish was not as good and the onions were overcooked. The onions were fried so hard I thought it was bacon.
Audrey V
My family has been going here for years/decades. Local restaurant. Recommend
Timothy Holland
With all the good food options in this food city Mandina's should be near the top. While locals and visitors could and do spend much more on food Mandina's is simply one of the best restaurants in New Orleans. Always outstanding food no matter what you order and generous portions.
Amanda Ray
Crowded and a little on the loud side, but the food is totally worth it! Large portions, excellent vegetables. I had the eggplant parmesan and it was absolutely delish! Would definitely eat here again.
Candice Thompson
A fantastic meal! Large portions!
James Richards
My waiter Steve Story was incredible. He advised us on every dish. Was very attentive when we needed him. Food was the usual great. The quintessential New Orleans restaurant.
Carmen Souhlas
Went on a Sunday about 7 PM. Only restaurant open. Food was good.Large servings. Service was very good.
I was a bit put off by the dirty floor. Not just dirt ,but food as well. I'm going to assume they were to busy to get to it. I've been there many times, it wasn't this bad. Granted for the price & their reputation it should never be dirty.
Ted Ball
Great food! My brother & I split a seafood platter. The fried filets were fresh, the shrimp and oysters were delicious and we fought over the crab. Excellent service even though it was close to closing time. Prices were not-too-high, $27 for the platter (menu says "market price" for the platter). Our cousins eating with us had wonderful food as well. The oyster po-boy one had was huge. We didn't order any of the Italian menu items, yet seeing them on nearby tables -- that's whst I'll order next time.
Sarah Tippett
We really enjoyed our meal and our server (Tim) was great. We asked for his recommendations from.the menu and he did not steer us wrong. The atmosphere was busy and bustling but really homey and authentic. I'm so glad we stopped in!
Michael Fredrick
Love it or hate it, Mandina's is a institution of New Orleans. It's butt ugly pink building sits proudly on Canal St despite Katrina. It's always great to go for happy hour and rub shoulders with the crazy old people that are regulars there. The food isn't bad, crab fingers are very good. Also the fish with the almonds, very good there.
Geoffrey Frost
One of the best restaurants in New Orleans.
Nancy Tanchel
The best friend oysters and truly the best onion rings in the world - yes, the world!
Patrick Nieto
Let me preface by saying that I am from Chicago so I know what good food is, and Mandina's has it.
Atmosphere:
My girlfriend and I showed up around 5:30 and we were seated within 10 min. As we got through our meal the place really started to get busy and there was a line to the door at about 6:30 when we were leaving. It got pretty loud as most of the main dining area is pretty open, but it was not intolerable.
Service:
Terry was a magician. He was a very good server and it was evident he had experience. He was able give me a recommendation for my dinner and he always kept our waters full. He was serving a large party as well as other small tables at the same time yet he never forgot to check on us.
Food:
This was the best part of the entire experience! My girlfriend and I were visiting New Orleans for the first time, and wanted to try some authentic creole dishes, Mandina's was perfect. I got grilled fish lafitte (saturday special) and it was delicious. My girlfriend got the grilled shrimp with pasta and it was also very good. For an appetizer, I would recommend the crab claws in wine sauce. All of these dishes were hefty portions, enough to bring home leftovers. Overall, I would recommend Mandina's to anyone looking for authentic Louisiana food, we would definitely go back.
Steve Stathes
Classic restaurant. The portions are huge and mostly excellent. The spaghetti and meatballs very ordinary wouldn't order again. The chicken parm is off the charts good. The service is always good. Very crowded at lunchtime. Not alot of waiting room
Stacy Bell
Best food in a town full of great food.
Ronald “Jay” Theriot
Mandina's is a loud, crowded, neighborhood restaurant. One must stand at the bar, because there is no room in its tight quarters for stools. Once we were seated (20-minute wait)I ordered the Grilled Shrimp Salad ($13.50), which was huge and delicious (no negatives), and the couple that joined me ordered a Seafood Platter ($24.95), which did NOT come with a salad, but did come with French Fries. It was loaded with Catfish, Oysters, Shrimp, and a large Crab Ball (which I sampled and thought was extremely good). The lady said she thought the platter was "average", but the husband said he thought it was "very good". I would recommend this restaurant. RJT

Mandina's Restaurant is one of my all-time favorite places to dine. The food is always excellent and the service is impeccable. I was in the food and beverage business for over 41 years before I retired. I can tell you all of the best restaurants as well as the worst restaurants in the New Orleans metropolitan area. Mandina's restaurant offers a five-star informal dining experience, to be enjoyed by all. Bon appetit.
Charles Conti
Had gone here several years ago and was not very impressed. Decided to go there again tonight and glad I did. Had the gumbo and the oyster and artichoke soup, both were very good and hot. My wife and I split the veal parmesan over pasta, it was more than enough for both of us
Michele Relle
We love Mandina's Restaurant! As locals we visit at least once every six months, we celebrate family events or just visit to enjoy the food. The food is consistently great, the atmosphere is usually loud, but tolerable, the dress code is anywhere from shorts to wedding attire, no one will be or feel out of place. I highly recommend this restaurant, they never disappoint and the price is good for the quality of the food.
Desiree Drake
I went to give mandina's a 4-star rating. And then I thought what would make it better to give it a five? And I came up with nothing would make it better, so it gets a 5-star rating from me. I haven't been to Mandina's in years.I had my father's memorial service at Jacob Schoen across the street so the tradition is to go over to Mandina's and eat once it's over. I ordered the most traditional meal I could think of from Mandina's. It was the Gulf Fish Almondine. It delivered. The buttery sauce with almonds that I remember from years ago was replaced by a more gravy sauce but was altogether wonderful. Fried oysters, the onion rings, the potato salad, the meatballs and spaghetti, and veal parmesan that others in my party ordered each were so delicious that no one left a bite on their plate. I am already anticipating a quick return for a meal at Mandina's. I can't go that many years again without enjoying the deliciousness that they offer.
Rick Tague
We ordered an appetizer and never came out . We had our entree first. We declined the appetizer since we are almost finished with our dinner. Food was delicious, service and atmosphere was mediocre.
Travis Watson
Excellent food and service. Very large portions. Definitely can share a meal and probably still take some home.
Paul Mata
Great home cooking. Made reservations, they have parking. Best appetizer was the eggplant sticks, very crunchy and wonderful marinara sauce. Seafood platter was excellent, everyone was pleased.
Jason Stawski
What can I say - Mandina's is my FAVORITE restaurant of all time, and I live in Colorado. Best seafood gumbo! Staff is always friendly and knows me and my family well. Every time I am in town we make at least two visits to Mandina's. There is not one item on the menu that I wouldn't recommend.
Tim Kilbride
Great local stop. Been in the same location for years. Good selection and great food. Daily specials. Huge portions. One of the best turtle soups in town. Place stays busy during peak times...be prepared to wait a little.
