Reviews of Le Bayou Restaurant & Oyster Bar
a Cummings (aSeattleite)
Everything we tried was excellent. Izzy at the bar is charming and funny and a whiz with an oyster knife. He moves quick and takes care of everyone without breaking a sweat. Give that man a raise, seriously! We ordered a lot of items and he staggered putting them in so that we got everything super freshly made. Every oyster we had was great but the Bourbon St.-- Le Bayou's decadent take on Rockefeller is a must try. If you're looking for good food and even better people, Le Bayou is a must visit!
Empressive Curls
My party of six visited here yesterday. I was not in love with the bar backs aura (he was shucking oysters behind the bar). It was very blah and not welcoming at all. Our waiter was nice. There was no bread so we had to ask for it. Not very appetizing - hard bread with butter drizzled on it. The drinks were good. I order the hurricane, it was good. I ordered the shrimp jambalaya. It was decent. They are not stingy with the shrimp AT ALL. Had to ask for the air to be turned down because it was cold. Nice enough venue just not overly friendly staff.

This is some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. We’ve come here every night on our trip. The stuffed Cajun fish is incredible, as is the jambalaya, charbroiled oysters, the desserts, drinks— not a single thing has disappointed. Planning to go back again today to try the 🐊
Izzy is the best bartender ever! Go find him and say that LA Fun Events sent you!

♤THE BEST RESTAURANT IN BOURBON ST.♤
We only spent 3 days in NOLA
A friend recommended so we end up there...
First of all we both hate(yes, hate oysters)
But definitely this ones made change our mind
Super tender, full of flavor...just perfect.
The experience and the food was so amazing that we decided to came back yesterday...our last night
They were short staffed, even though they accommodate us in the bar...everyone with smile and attire to details...and once again the food was incredible...

This is one recommended restaurant when you visit Nola so we decided to give it a try. It's right on Bourbon Street, they have balcony dining. Cajun Stuffed Fish, oh meh, don't know what sauce they use by it was so delicious. Tried the fried alligator not bad. The service was good & fast. I definitely recommend to check it out

Stopped here for drinks and lunch. One of the restaurants on bourbon street that is more restaurant than bar, so I like that for actual food vs drunk food. Had the alligator bites and the taste of the Bayou which is 4 different cup samples of: red beans and rice, gumbo, crawfish stronger, and jambalaya. Our friend got the creole red beans and rice with sausage and chicken strips and it looked really good! This is definitely a place for some good creole style food and a hearty meal.
The Professional Tourist
Had fried alligator. Sea food player was big enough for two people. It was as good as the manager said it would be. The drinks were wonderful. It was a bit expensive but that's expected for the area.
Great balcony seats to overlook the street action.

Located right on Bourbon st so the quality and and prices made sense but the food was good and the service was great! We ordered 1/2 a dozen of the raw and charbroiled oysters, fried alligator, and crawfish crab cakes!

This was our first stop on Bourbon St. and it was awesome. We sat at the bar and had the pleasure of Isadore being our shucker and bartender(give that man a raise). He was very personable and showed us how he shucked oysters. Great conversation.
Oysters were amazing, better than the ones we had a 2 other “high end” establishments. We will definitely be back the next time we are in NOLA.

Le Bayou was a typical restaurant in the French Quarter that had a dude outside luring customers in with praises of something. My wife was lured by her interest in trying the fried alligator.
I hate to use the "gamey" description, but it was rather chewy and left something to be desired. It did not taste like chicken even though that is what my mind told me to expect once the food arrived. We ordered the taste of the bayou to share; it included: Chicken & Andouille Gumbo, Crawfish Étouffée, Red Beans & Rice, and Cajun Jambalaya. All were fairly bland and under seasoned. My wife had to douse all of it with salt to get a taste. I wouldn't say it was bad, but I wouldn't recommend it either. Ok if you're in a pinch, but there are several other food options in the vicinity.
