Reviews of Hobnobber's Variety Bar & Restaurant
Angela Thomas
When my husband and I go to new cities we always go in hunt of the hole in the walls because they always have the best food. This place did not disappoint! Recommended to us by the doorman at our hotel. We love to eat where the locals eat. The couple that owned this fine establishment were good people! Great conversation, good food, big smiles, and I loved listening to the banter between the hard working owners that cook the food and their assistants that help bring in customers. If you have virgin ears beware, Lots of sailor mouths but I swear it gives this place character. Bring your appetite because the portions are big and food taste like it was made by your Momma with love.

Best to go early since it won’t be open late. We finally got a chance on the last day of our trip. What a treat! We got he fried fish w jambalaya. It included potato’s salad or fresh salad and I got Mac and cheese on the side as well as bread pudding. The place is behind/ adjacent to the bar but has its own path to it. The bathroom is inside the bar. You can get. A drink there and get your food too. The prices were very decent compared to all the other places we ate at. You order in one window and pick up and pay at the other. Please do make your way to this placr

My husband and I had such a wonderful experience. I had read the good reviews about the restaurant and wanted to try it out. When my husband and I were outside of the bar and restaurant, one of the cooks was outside and invited us in. He said the kitchen just closed, but if we wanted something simple they would cook it up. We both got the shrimp po boy with a cup of gumbo. We also got the bread pudding. The food was absolutely delicious. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. It it well worth the stop. I’m only upset we didn’t discover it sooner in our trip so we could’ve kept going back.
Anthony D'Amico
This place changed who I am as a person, on earth. Good people great food, came here four times in a week. Three times for breakfast, can't go wrong but try the shrimp and grits. Also, came for lunch and had a shrimp po boy. Special.
Jonathan Adler
Wow wow wow how have I never been here before?!? Shame on me! I had a hankering for a hot sausage egg and cheese and then I gravitated towards a couple other items and thank god I did. The shrimp and grits was perfection with regular sized shrimp (I don’t like the tiny ones) and a heaping pile of perfectly seasoned grits with tons of cheese. As for that gorgeous Mac and cheese you see over there, it is almost like a casserole in the best way ever. Sooooooo much cheese and just incredible through and through. 10/10 can’t say enough good about this place! Also all this for $25!!!
Ebonee Clarke
My husband and I came here today and let’s just say we couldn’t move!!! I had the crab cakes with shrimp Etouffe and Mac and cheese! I was so stuffed, and the food was hands down amazing. This is my new spot whenever I come to town
Garry Devine
Hole in the wall you wouldn't know existed if people didn't recommend. Grandma's home cooking, in a no frills back room diner like kitchen. Don't skip on the gumbo.
Douglas Watson
The shrimp and cheesey grits was very good. The location makes it very easy to walk right past this place. We were there for breakfast, but the were other items on the menu I would have loved to try. Unfortunately, we were only in NOLA for 1 night. Sorry, no photos. I was too hungry to think about taking pictures of the food when it came, which wasn't a long wait.
D Perry
Small seating area would be my biggest problem. About 15 tables inside but with social distancing only about 5 families should be inside.
Food was delightful, had many choices from the poboy lunch special to fish and grits and gumbo, hambers and fries to greens and fried pork chop, peach cobbler and potato salad.
You can't go wrong everything was tasty...something for everyone.
Friendly service, would appreciate more people wearing masks but it was down home friendly food and service.
Anthony Haney
Third time eating here. Food is delicious and portion size is great for the price.
I would recommend this place to anyone looking for that hidden gem in NOLA.. Service is impeccable and atmosphere is truly southern. If you are looking for a real authentic place to eat breakfast or lunch this is the spot. The cooks and owners make you feel like you are a family members house, nothing is held back, from food to conversation, to interacting with customers who are regulars. Drop by this hole in the wall Establishment and enjoy NOLA at its finest.
Ben Hardman
This is a hidden little gem in New Orleans. The "hole in the wall" will not disappoint. I had an Oyster Po boy which tasted like the oysters were shucked, floured and fried seconds before they were put on the sandwich. My wife's shrimp and grits were good as well.
The gumbo will not disappoint either it had awesome flavor, depth and spice to it.
Thanks Mr. Willy for stopping and helping us and then ultimately talking us into eating here. We were not disappointed and were very pleased with everything!
Shawana “Muva” L
I must say the vibe was oh so wonderful. The Swag of the fam in there was so homely feeling...to be specific I felt like I went to auntie- & uncle- house
My food was AMAZING , every bite the care we recieved, the menu, the Cooks!!! I'm thankful for the experience & the great food. I had a Mimosa as well which was a great suggestion of the folks who were in there vibing & living life... macaroni n cheese was on point too 😋biut seriously EVERYTHING LOOKS & TASTE GREAT

I was in town for work. We were staying a a hotel nearby which for some reason doesn't have a breakfast option. So i asked a local "were would you eat?." So glad we did. In all honesty it was the only food I enjoyed during my whole stay. Great breakfast place 👌 definitely give it a try.
Kate Haberl
I love Hobnobber’s! Fair warning, it is a hole in the wall - you can’t really see it from the street, there’s a hallway you walk down to get to the entrance. Once you’re inside, though, it’s great! The people are very kind, the food is very affordably priced and the portions are enormous. I was super happy with my food and the service. I’m no local, but I thought the food was plenty authentic. Great spot!
Andrew Sung
Went here for breakfast a few years back after an Uber driver recommended this place and did not regret it. The fried catfish was super good, as was the spicy tartar sauce that came with it.
Leigh Anne Burnette-Moore
Awesome locals hole in the wall. The food is roaring hot and utterly delicious. You can tell it's made from scratch with love. I recommend the smothered okra and gumbo!
Emiliana Leyva
Talk about southern hospitality. You are greeted right away by the staff who make you feel genuinely at home and promise to fill you up. Very patient as we perused the menu and ordered for a large family.
We ordered the pancakes, shrimp/grits, ribs, crab cakes, and bread pudding. We have not been fuller on this trip lol.
The environment is very mom and pop/make yourself at home while other tourists pour in to dine and several locals pour in for to-go.
Sad we only decided to dine here on our last day. Amazing food. DEFINITELY stop by if you’re in CBD and on your way to FQ.
david harris
Wayyy overcharged because we were tourists.. four of us had grilled shrimp with cheese grits.
The shrimp were delicious.
The rest? Grits slapped on a plate with shredded cheddar cheese thrown on top alongside a plain old biscuit out of a can and all served on a styrofoam plate.
The bargain price for this feast you ask?
$78
There's a reason there are no prices on the menu hung on the wall, I guess.
He charges what he figures he can get out of you 🤷
Dionne Gillard
The food was great, I actually visited again for breakfast, if I can change anything it would be the refill cups. They are 4oz's with ice you are only getting a taste of drink and you have to keep getting up to get a refill. When I asked for a bigger cup the owner as well as the cook barked at me saying "people waiste too much drink" not the response I was looking for.
K Kennedy
Hungry? Get in here & eat. Bar is at the front & the food is at the back. It's not the kind of place that appeals to the high maintenance guest (valet, concierge, butler) as it's plated on extruded polystyrene foam; it's no frills, generous portions at reasonable prices.
Josephine Kelton
While shopping, we passed a man passing out menu's for the restaurant stating it was authentic creole food. I told him we would try them for breakfast the next day. Only 2 out of 9 of us went (long story). When went went into this "BAR" we looked around and saw the restaurant in the back through a clear glass. When I say, "A HOLE IN THE WALL TYPE OF JOINT, THIS IS IT".
We both ordered the shrimp and grits. We waited for biscuits instead of getting toast and am I glad we did!!!! The shrimp was a tad bit salty to me but good. I could have SLAPPED THE HELL OUT OF WHOMEVER MADE THE BISCUITS- TO DIE FOR. We tried to go back Sunday morning, but they were closed. I'm back home now and STILL thinking about those biscuits.
THIS IS NOT A PLACE YOU WANT TO MISS!!!
Velonika Siale
GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT!!!
First time I've ever eaten grits without putting sugar on them! The red beans and rice was cooked to perfection, seasoned to the tee and hot like crazy good. My eggs were think and creamy just like I like them! My son LOVED his HUGE pancakes! The syrup in packets are SUPER convenient!!! And the ham was great! We can't wait to go back!
Mohamed Badaoui Najjar
Simple home cooked style meals secured in a very simple setting. The foods were really tasty and presented in a very simple setting.
The crab cakes were well seasoned and were balanced with a decent mac and cheese. The bisque was very creamy.
Nicole Cannon
Awesome food and customer service at a great price point. Will eat here again over the overhyped overpriced breakfast/lunch in nola!
N C
I am shook. At first I was kind of sketched out by this hole in the wall place. To get to the restaurant, you have to walk through this hallway and then the door is at the end.
It had a very diner type feel, but much more close.
I ordered the catfish with jambalaya and potato salad. I thought this is just going to be mediocre food. So far, the food I have eaten here from more high end places were good, but it did not speak to me. After slowly eating, I realized the food is bomb. This is the New Orleans cuisine is was looking for. The people working there are really kind and it has a super homely feel.
The potato salad is creamy and well seasoned. The Jambalaya actually has flavor instead of being a salt bath. The catfish is crunchy and the tartar sauce they provide is unique.
I randomly walked in today because some guy on a stool sitting outside the restaurant waved and said try their food. I took this chance and I am glad I did because this was the best lunch I have had since I moved here.
Sue Davis
We got there 15 minutes before they closed. Got a great oyster po boy and potato salad. They brought it to the bar. So good! Fun little out of the way place.
Devin Fischer
I had a very good experience at this restaurant. The cook was very friendly and the food came out quick. Recommended.
Billy Dana
Really good food. Probably one of the best gumbo's I've ever had. The shrimp po'boy was good as well. Good amount of shrimp. Breading was light and crispy. Reviewers aren't joking about it being tough to spot. Has a dedicated small entrance or you can walk through the bar to the back. Had a beer afterwards at the bar and the bartender was really nice and helpful. Had a good variety of local brews from NOLA, Parish brewing, and raft brewing from Shreveport. Also oddly enough but in a good way they had lagunitas on draft. Restaurant is only open til 2 pm so plan accordingly.
Jeff Pesula
Our Uber driver from the airport recommended this place - what a place! The bar up front has a good selection of local drafts and knows how to pour a good mixed drink.
The restaurant in the back is a hidden gem. They have daily specials that do not disappoint. The po' boys were overflowing with whatever you ordered (shrimp and oysters for us). They only do breakfast and lunch, but with their generous portions we often skipped a meal. This is a definite place for us to stop by when in NOLA again.
Anthony Sims
Wife & I went here for breakfast, was a place close by the wife had the fish & grits w/toast. I had grits, sausage patty, ham, bacon, eggs w/toast & a side of hashbrowns before we could sit down order was up. The service was great, staff superb, food to perfection 🥰. Except for the hashbrown it wasn't what I expected @ all being; from a different state I expected something totally different; but trust me though the version of hashbrown was different they we're remarkably delicious 😋 highly recommend "Hobnobber's" if ever in the city.
Just Me Being Me
WHOA! Brace yourself for this mouth full of wonderful you are about to encounter at this spot. This little piece of heaven on the other side of Canal street was a GREAT find! Couldn't make up my mind on shrimp and grits or fish and grits so I got a combo. Man were my tastebuds doing the happy dance! So good I ate here 2X during my week stay. I had food left over for the next day it was such a good portion. So technically....I ate 4X from this spot😊 The peach cobbler and bread pudding are to die for.
Matthew Madeja
Wow, the food was great! Just what we were looking for. Combos give you the best of both worlds and they are cheap! Taking the leftovers home for later! Wish they were open for dinner!
Jenna Jones-Lyons
A fantastic local restaurant. Everyone was very warm and friendly immediately walking in. They had an amazing selection and the most authentic New Orleans style food. As a guest in the city, it’s a must!
April C
My go to place while in New Orleans. Great food from a large menu for a reasonable price! Staff is friendly. Bartenders are great as well! Grab an alcoholic slushy on your way out. Lots of locals frequent it so you can get recommendations for other spots.
L Amos
Good value! Generous serving. I enjoyed the fact that the banana pudding was not so sweet. The corn chowder was pretty tasty.
Jasmine Jones
Great service, prices & food. If you're looking to save some cash & have a meal that you will have leftovers from, this is the place to go. Pancakes and omelets are huge and breakfast plates are no more that $6. It's gives you that good home cooked meal feel and it's attached to a cool bar where you can grab a drink. Casual place, with awesome staff and amazing food.
Lisa Tirino
Affordable, approachable home cooking. Corn crab soup was amazing. Delish shrimp poboy & crab cakes. Come hungry.
DJ Lowe
This is a very small hole in the wall, that if you blink, you will walk right past it. Counter service was very fast, food was good, even if a bit greasy. Prices were more than reasonable.
Maranda Parker
Holy Moly !!Come hungry!! The plates are packed to the rim ! As a family of 3 we could have shared one plate ! The food is so good and homemade .Well worth it.
Sarah Rehkopf
I can’t believe I didn’t find this place sooner. Our Uber driver recommended this place and I am so glad he did!!! Awesome service & a nice laid back environment. Food is obviously insanely delicious, come hungry! Huge portions!
Jasper Lockett
Great atmosphere with really good wings and awesome bartender. She gave us the ins and outs of New Orleans. Very friendly and ask about the owners breakfast.
Audrey Klein
Hobnobber’s is NOLA’s best kept secret and I’m hoping to change that! Amazing local fare - generous portions - and great menu variety with ever-changing daily specials. They even have team members sitting outside greeting customers. Thank you Big Dog for the barks and for effectively sharing the value prop of this gem of a place. Many thanks to Chef Paul and Cheryl Timphony! P.S.: the crawfish etouffee will change your life! Posting a photo a local favorite #redbeansandrice
Chandra Franklin
It was cool hole in a wall. We had breakfast it was ok. But I did love the staff really cool laid back people.
Nicole Burgess
This was my 2nd time dining here and I can honestly say this was worth the revisit. I had the fish and gritsand it was good! One of my daughters had the shrimp and grits and the other had pancakes... we walked out with a smile on our faces.
Angela B
At first I didn't think my son could come in due to not being 21 but then someone directed me down a small alley to the right. Down that small alley was honestly some of the BEST food that I've had since being in New Orleans for the last 5 days. Macaroni and cheese was some of the best that I've ever had. Can cakes were a little greasy but very good. Roast beef poboy was really good as well. Great prices for what you get and the service was terrific!
Kinyi Moon
This dive bar was recommended by a nice lady from the Rooster Club because of the awesome food. Unfortunately on this day, the Kitchen was closed but we met an awesome bartender named TY who was so hospitable and welcoming! He made us hurricanes and great rumshots. I definitely plan to come back for the food and because of this cool down to earth bartender! The music was great too. Thank you so much for the experience Ty!
aaron Cohn
Nicest staff, Excellent food. Had the shrimp and the alligator po boy. Out of this world!!
Vera Medici
The kind of restaurant where the cook calls you "hon" and you feel like you've been coming there for years even on your first time in. Lots of food for the very low prices! I had breakfast there and took a peach cobbler to go for later. Chunky cinnamon and sugar overload but in a good way!
Liz Thomason
Cute dive! It was busier than I expected when we went. We walked through the length of the bar to the back where the food/restaurant is located. The server was very kind. He gave us a few tips and tricks, best tables to sit at, etc. You pay when you pick up your food. That was a little confusing. It's a snug dive, but the food is totally worth it.
Ronald Smallwood
Went there for the first time today. My daughter and I shared the crab and shrimp casserole. Omg this stuff was delicious. Like homemade by your momma delicious. I can't wait to go back and get the stewed chicken. The mac and cheese was also very good. That's so.ething that I never like when I go out to eat. Definitely give this place a try, you will not be disappointed.
Tyler Griggs
We stumbled across this place for brunch and could not be happier we found it! Huge variety of food and lots of specials, really something for everyone. All the food we ordered was flavorful, fresh and hot, portions were huge, no one left hungry! Highly recommend the dirty rice & smothered okra w/shrimp. Thank you @hobnobbers!
Donnie Woodson
Breakfast is so good here. My family and I really enjoyed it. Super friendly people. Other guests there were all treating each other as family.
Amanda Fietz
A true hole in the wall. Don't let the paper plates fool you it's amazing. I got the fried shrimp poboy and the crab and corn bisque and it was amazing!! We sat in the bar area where they played some good oldies!!
Matias Lq
Very good breakfast, very friendly staff, very fast service, and low prices. Don't go to some fast food chain, this is better, cheaper, and faster.
Zach Hein
Good food, nice folks and great prices. You get a lot of food for the money and everything we had was tasty -- both breakfast and lunch.
Amber Scott
We were referred to this restaurant by the desk attendant at our hotel. Thank God for irreplaceable locals of the great city of NEW ORLEANS and their ability to decipher great quality food. Service was personalized and quite friendly. We got a delicious meal along with some great info about NOLA. You can get breakfast, lunch, or early dinner entrees at very reasonable prices. Did I mention the food was delicious. Also, there was a wide variety of menu items to satisfy any taste palette.
Edwin Carneal
Great food reasonable prices. Super friendly staff. Visually not so great. Still recommend
Lioness Jones
The Chef, Paul aka Master P is amazing and so is his staff! This food is the best in town and not overpriced. Went there and was ready to go back before I even left the place. Hospitality is great! We walked in 10 mins before closing and were going to leave to be courteous. They would not allow it. They were more than grateful to serve us. We'll be going back in the morning for breakfast and maybe again before we leave N.O. If you visit, Hobnobber's is the spot you should NOT pass by! It was referred to by a local which says a lot. We even took a pic with him we were so impressed.
Diana Ryan
Great service, food, and the people you meet are so friendly! I make a point of going every time I'm in town.
Stephanie Marzano
Great food! Don't let the location fool you. The owner and staff are very friendly.
Brian Smith
Fantastic shrimp and cheesy grits! People are friendly and the location is convenient.
Tameka Copeland
Hobnobbers is the place to be for great food and great hospitality! Shrimp and cheesy grits were DELICIOUS! I’m glad we found this place early in our stay. We will be back this week for sure! I almost missed this gem as the sign isn’t that visible to pedestrians walking the sidewalk. I saw this guy on the sidewalk and asked him, “ do you know where Hobbobbers is?” He looked up and said look here as he pointed to the sign. I was standing right under it. We both laughed. It was one of the workers. Great experience!
Sasha Campbell
I always visit when I go to N.O. no frills kind of spot. Right on Carondelet, steps away from the hustle and bustle of Canal. They give big flavors and big portions.
Try their cherry bombs at the bar... you won't regret it!
Michelle Mason
We was welcome by Mr. Kirk. He stated that the best food in town was here and he was right. Mr Kirk hospitality made me and my husband feel like we was at home the food was amazing I had the shrimp and grits and my husband had the pancakes eggs and sausage. You will leave here happy and full. If you don't come here you are Missing What New Orleans is all about . To all the staff here was absolutely amazing and welcoming. Thank you Mr. Kirk for welcoming us. Your presence and amazing spirit will not be forgotten. Thank you.
Victoria G
Didn't really know how to rate this one. Not a seafood lover but if you are then this is the place for you. Prices are reasonable
M Raye Turner
I am a very picky because of my upbringing. I haven't had catfish and grits in a lot of years. This was great and worth the wait. My birthday breakfast was on point!
Romiesha White
This was our first stop today after we checked in. The staff was super friendly and the food was amazing. I can recommend the gumbo, the oysters poboy, the crab cakes, and even the hamburger.
Jason Hulsey
Awesome place, had breakfast with my son. Tony took good care of us, very nice and friendly. Counter service, awesome selection with fast service. I highly recommend trying when visiting the big easy. Dinning area is tight so extra large groups might need to check for space, otherwise they offer takeout and delivery. Cool t-shirt 👍 …
Thesignyoda Tony
Awesome place, great history, top of the line food at a great price. Everyone treated like family.
Mary Vaughn
I had the grilled chicken with dirty rice and my husband had the cabbage with the fried pork chop. Both meals where absolutely delicious. Quick delivery to our hotel.
Carlo
Went to NOLA for our honeymoon and needed a quick bite for breakfast. We stopped by Hobnobbers (place is not visible at first to find as you have to enter a hallway from the street to get to the restaurant) and ordered shrimp and grits, gumbo, and a shrimp 'po boy.
All were more than worth the price and tasted very good. The staff was nice and offered us menus and seating on our arrival - small issue is that the place is small and it's hard to practice social distancing. Still worth the trip though!
Aaron Beaudry
Nice little hole in the wall, with the very best food, and the friendliest people, with out a doubt the best food I ate in the city
Carrie Schwab
Great food, try the shrimp and cheese grit with eggs and biscuit 🦐👍😊 …
Michelle Reliford
Recommended top me by a local, Hobnobbers is a wonderful spot for a great meal. Reasonably priced, absolutely delicious, and a friendly staff, this small hidden gem is now a personal favorite. The attached bar is a huge bonus because you can bring your drink right into the restaurant.
Sylvester Jordan Jr
Food was so good with a great bargain had to come back for lunch. I recommend this local and fresh pushing out food fast with a grade A taste. Little spot in the back worth the trip.
Tiffany Mac
The staff were extremely friendly, the crab cakes were delicious, & the chipotle tartar sauce was great too!!
Rick (RUN Fishing)
Great hole in the wall. The jumbo portions are pretty large and I like how the bread is not toasted which makes the sandwich too dry. Jumbo was awesome. Not too salty and tons of sausage Great deal and better than acme and Johnny’s We are coming back here the next time. Prices are good for the portion size and right off the st Charles trolley line So eat up and then ride the trolley. Oyster poboy was great too as well as the peach cobbler.
Sydni Cass
THIS PLACE IS LEGIT AMAZING!!!!! Had the gumbo and fish poboy combo. Hands down, THE BEST fish I've ever had in my life! The ingredients were super fresh, even saw the cook walk in with arms full of gorgeous produce! A true hole in the wall with super friendly staff and to die for food! And for dessert, definitely try the bread pudding!!!
Joe Ashe
I love pool and this was honestly my favorite place in New Orleans. They have an 8ft Valley table for 2$ a game. Cheap drinks and I LOVED IT!
OG 9ER
Great small joint that I must stop by every time I come to town!
Hunter Amy
Always makes sure to give the full New Orleans Experience! Got a dinner and a show tonight!
Jamie Slaughter
New Orleans is known for it's great cuisine, but, on this day, we were looking for something that was not too chic. Well, we found it. Food was ordered in the back...bar was in the front. Great place. Food was wonderful. Bartender was very friendly. If you are looking for fancy, this is not the place for you. A lot to be said for "hole in the wall" joints.
Boatner Howell
Uniquely New Orleans. Pass by a long bar, through a small door on the right. You order at the kitchen and they holler for you shortly after. The food is simple and simply delicious!
Brian Cruickshank
We were looking for that good Ole New Orleans cooking and Hobnobber's absolutely nailed it! We had Fried shrimp Po-boys and some steallar gumbo that hit the spot on our trip through NOLA! 10/10 Highly recommend and do plan to return next time I get a chance to.
Victoria Bradford
This is a fabulous find. We stay at the Holiday Inn Club a block away and found it one morning and stopped in for breakfast. Best breakfast I ever had!!! We talked about it for weeks. Now, we're coming back in December and we can't wait to come to Hobnobbers. I wish I could bring this restaurant home to Dallas. Highly recommend for good home cookin' !!!
Jeffery Morrison
Saturday Morning Lunch! Loved that you can get lunch early. We’re not big breakfast eaters & enjoyed an early lunch. Crab cakes & cheeseburger po boy we’re okay. But the gumbo & red beans/rice were great. Customer service was beyond excellent. A little on the pricey side but worth a visit for a genuine Nola experience.
david martin
Great local yocal breakfast corner. Tucked away hidden surprise. Huge breakfast for $7.00.
Elizabeth Griffith
What a joy to find this gem of a restaurant! It's casual and filled with homegrown town folk. The portion sizes will not disappoint, endless fountain drinks and the hash browns are so damn good! I went back the next day for lunch and had the hobnobber po' boy and gumbo lunch special.
This place is unique and a must go to!
Patrick Byers-Smith
Not sure what you want? Greeter gladly will share a menu who is open to giving suggestions. The food had a homemade taste, that made me want to go back. Not to mention they were on it when it came to refills, and cleaning up. Highly recommend!
Jason Nunz
Great food and local beers, was nice and full for a while after my meal hear.

This place is great!! My fiance and I are visiting New Orleans for the 2nd time and was referred here. The shrimp and grits are great. The pancakes are the bomb lol. And they give you more than enough for a reasonable price. Definitely make this your stop for breakfast or lunch. Oh the preach cobbler was awesome too.
Theresa Silva
The food was delicious and even better customer service. I couldn’t decide what to eat and finally decided to try the jambalaya, catfish and potato salad with a side of crab seafood bisque. It was a great choice and enjoyed every bite. I highly recommend this restaurant and the prices are reasonable. The only downfall is they close at 2pm and closed on Sundays. Next time I’m in town, I will definitely eat here again.

This place should be more poppin' my whole trip I c couldn't find that home cook southern meal I've been looking for. A woman at a drug store recommended this place and I'm glad I found it. I didn't know what to expect vat first because it is down a corridor and it's a smaller family style place. But I'm glad I had the chance to eat here. Best shrimp and grits in the city hands 👏down👏. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Definitely a must go spot when I come back to the city
Chaos In Nola
Awesome staff and the BEST shrimp and grits so far!!
Kaylan Heck
This place is amazing! They pulled us off the streets but i promise this is one of the best places for breakfast. I got shrimp n grits, they were wonderful. Everyone in my party got something different and we all left very happy
Lance Wave
Like all the reviews say... excellent food for a price you simply can't beat! I had the crab cakes today and they were some of the best I've ever had. the staff is more than friendly... they treat you like family! I travel to NOLA 3-4 times a year and I will visit them every time I'm in town. In fact, I'm going back tomorrow again for lunch!
Alyssa Carter
We are their this morning for breakfast. Scrambled eggs, bacon, roasts and grits were delicious and the mimosa was cold. What more could you want. The staff was charming and the atmosphere was pure down to earth New Orleans. Fred had a hot sausage po boy and then another, but it’s all good. He exercises all the time. You might miss the entrance if you aren’t looking for it and we weren’t. A nice looking young man invited us in and we enjoyed meeting Kurt, another fine gentleman!
Melissa Tilton
Great, welcoming place if you’re looking for something off of Bourbon street. Gumbo is amazing! The owners are very friendly and you can tell that they take so much pride in their business and meals they prepare using family recipes! Every thing was decently priced for our quick lunch stop. The bar tender was fun and energetic as well. She was telling us all about some of the art pieces on the wall! Definitely make this a stop! We will be returning every year on our New Orleans trip!
Kat Hall
Originally from Lafayette but been in Dallas last six years so we were looking for a good plate lunch and we found it here! The staff treated us like family and served us the best food we found in the area. We ordered the fried shrimp plate with mac and cheese, gumbo and shrimp poboy and the fried fish plate. Fantastic. All of it. And we took a lot of it back with us. I recommended this place to everyone we ran into who asked for a great creole meal. Can't wait to go back!
Mia Morgan
It was a great, out of the way spot for breakfast. Their catfish was delicious (and a little salty, but that's how I like mine anyway). Their shrimp plate was great as well and the service was wonderful as well. I'm glad we stopped by.
D Newman
This is tucked inside of their bar and very inexpensive compared to many of the other local restaurants. Very unpretentious, staff are friendly, the portions and food are worth making a return trip. Our plates of breakfast were less than $6 each (at the time of this review) and I'm telling you, it filled you up! They not only serve breakfast, but poboys, entrees and desserts too. Restaurant section is only opened until 2pm. My teenage son who is so conscious of the $, said he wished we found this place on our first day... smh... Definitely worth a try!
Charles Davis
Had a great time at Hobnobbers! It was easy to get to, right in the CBD, super close to the Quarter. My bartender Roxanne was incredibly friendly, and made sure to spend some conversation time with each of her guests. She was very knowledgeable about the area as well as local drinks. I would definitely stop in to see Roxanne again!
Alicia Taylor
Oooo We! Every dish tastes like it came from your Grandmother's kitchen. Paper plates and plastic utensils. They keep it simple fresh and funny.
Mrs E
This is definitely a hole in the wall restaurant. But don't let the location deter you from eating here. The food is awesome. And the portions are huge. The employees are friendly. There was a long line but it moved quickly. We would have never found this place if not for the desk clerk at the hotel we were staying at. So glad he referred us. Bring your appetite and be prepared for a delicious meal!!
David Rodgers
We were actually headed to another location for breakfast, but we passed by Kirk on the street and he SHOWED us the way! At first, you'd prejudge their establishment as a restaurant/bar (looking from the "outside in"), but this place is amazing...the KEY is to WALK IN!!
Everybody's plate and stomachs were full b/c of Hobnobber!!! Great prices and great food!!! KIRK IS THE MAN!!! Please visit this place!
randy sears
loved the food and service! ended up eating there quite a few times while we visited. will definitely go back again when we get back to NO. We were staying in a hotel on Canal St. I asked a lady at Walgreen's where I should go for a good breakfast. She recommended Hobnobber's. So glad she did!
JOSEPH CLARK
Awesome breakfast. Huge portions. Great, friendly people. A real hole in the wall.
Josh Coates
@Paul Timphony, you may not remember me but years ago I visited from Texas on the bar side...You happened to at bar side that night because one of your kids had prom or school event. We sat at bar and talked but the restaurant side was closed. I had been at restaurant side earlier in week during my trip but returned to find it closed. I mentioned that I returned because I wanted to try the poboy and red beans and rice...To my surprise, you went over the restaurant side which was closed and whipped me up some food. I tell anyone and everyone that is coming to New Orleans this story and always recommend your place as a must. Ill be returning to NOLA June 9-11 and will def come by and support again. Thanks for being so hospitable and providing some great food when I was visiting years ago. You've got a customer for life...Cant wait to be at Hobnobber's again soon!

This was a great place to have breakfast. The food was delicious and large portions, great prices. The staff made you feel like family. My husband had fried catfish one day and couldn't say enough about how great it was. I had shrimp with my grits, which were the so creamy. I've never had such smooth delicious grits in my life. We also tried alligator, which was great. We didn't have lunch here because we wanted to try other places, but I'm sure their lunches are just as wonderful.
Ms. Kael C
I ate here last year when visiting NOLA and could not remember the name of it to save my life. Luckily I phoned and a friend and found it. The service and the food was awesome once again. Yes it's a little hole in the wall but they've got the best catfish and grits I've had in a restaurant. The portion size is large enough to share. I won't forget the name this time.
Takisha Collins
Mom and pop place, GREAT GREAT FOOD. Did breakfast
Amy Baloo
My mom and I had breakfast here on a recommendation from the girl at our hotel. We like to try out places on the areas we visit that the locals prefer and not just where tourists go. It was fantastic. Don't expect anything fancy, just good food at good prices. I had the two egg breakfast and my mom had the hash brown breakfast. It was so much food we couldn't even pretend to finish it. They close early so plan to visit for breakfast or lunch.
Tiffany Dee
My first encounter with this restaurant was a to go order over the phone. The woman who took my order was extremely rude and seemed to try and rush me off the phone. My coworkers also placed their orders to go and had the same experience. We went to pick up our orders and someone in the restaurant also stated there were multiple complaints about this specific employee or whomever she was. We pick up our food and went back to work. I opened my food and my order was incorrect. This same woman answered the phone very aggressively and I let her know my order was wrong and she proceeded to say I may have gotten it mixed up with my coworkers, which I did not. I let her know the specific item I was given was something I have a severe allergy to and my break was over so I was not able to come back and get it. She stated she would have someone deliver the correct food to me and I would need to give them back the first order. The food was great but due to the lack of customer service and aggressive rudeness from this woman, my rating stands as is.
Olivia Christie
A guy flagged us down saying to give his restuarant a shot and if we didn't see anything we liked he wouldn't be mad if we walked out. We went in and gave it a shot. It was so good. The food tasted authentic. But the real gem is the customer service. I was blown away by great they were! Everyone in there was so friendly and helpful. They even gave us directions and advice on where to go next.
Beverly Hardaway
I needed something quick before departing for my cruise. This place is great!!! Easy to miss but please try it out
CJ Biro
Simple ordering, fast delivery, no lines, great tasting and looking food, huge portions and not pricey. So glad we found this place!
Chelsea Whitlatch
We went here after discovering the intended breakfast restaurant was closed. We walked in on a whim. The staff was extremely friendly and hospitable. Food was the perfect thing to cure our early morning hangover. Prices were good and portions were well worth the money.
Eric riggs
The negative reviews are hilarious! So many say "been eating here for years. Had one bad experience. 1 star!"
The truth is this place is light on atmosphere but HEAVY on great food! I mean really really great food. Huge portions at low prices. This is not a tourist spot. It's the real deal. Thank you guys and we'll be seeing you every trip to Nola.
Lainey Love
I love this place! Food is awesome and everyone is so friendly. Kirk is a great host! The ladies in the kitchen are so sweet and are the best at what they do. They serve breakfast and lunch. Huge portions. Come hungry! They spoiled me!!!
Matt R
Just what I was looking for in NOLA. When we got to the front door, the guy who walked us back and gave us a menu said the food is so good, we’d have to keep coming back. He was completely right. Huge portions for a great price. Food was awesome; the women cooking knew how to take care of you. The menu is surprisingly big.
They’re only open for breakfast and lunch. And it’s a simple diner-style place, with counter ordering and plastic silverware. Don’t let the decor keep you away though.
kiki
The food, the food, the food was very good and the service Cheryl offered was awesome. Can't beat the prices and the amount of food on the plate. I will eat there at least 3 times a week for now on. Can't wait to try the Meatballs and Spaghetti. I have been spreading the news. ❤💯👊 …
Mz Suzukilady
They are Definitely not stingy with the portions. Their pancakes are so perfect. Crispy edges n thick just how I like them. The grits and cheese are perfect! And Great Customer Service!
Alan Clark
amazing shrimp po boy and gumbo from this unexpecting "hole in the wall". Super nice people, great food and a real taste of NOLA.
Crystal Wilson
My husband and I were just walking by when we stopped to read the menu. The friendliest man ever convinced us to go inside and try the food instead of just reading the menu. Down a long hall to a small sitting room was a basic looking food counter. We both ordered from the specials menu. I got the shrimp po' boy with gumbo and my husband ordered the crab casserole with baked macaroni and potatoes salad. Grand total was $28. The same gentlemen who ushered us in also got our drinks and brought our food. He was so friendly. The food came on Styrofoam plates at an alarmingly hot temperature.... But that didn't matter. The food was better than I thought any food like this could taste. We actually took a to go box, which is something we never do. Thanks to the gentleman who convinced us to go in because without him, we would have kept walking!
Teal Matthews
This place is truly a gem. They treat you like family and welcome you like you’re one of their own. The food is absolutely amazing, and the portions are more than generous. I got shrimp and grits, and I have to say that they were the best shrimp and grits I’ve had my entire life. Shoutout to Big Dawg for taking care of me and DAB during our last day in Louisiana. We will definitely be back the next time we are in New Orleans! Nothing but love for Hobnobber’s!
crystal waye
We tried this place today, July 8, 2017. We wanted something different and in a quick walking distance to Nine West. When I tell you these people are blessed with their hands, I almost slapped my momma at the table and she was ready to return the slap. Customer service was on point and food was A++. We had the pancake special, hash brown special and the shrimp and cheese grits. To go, we ordered gumbo and another serving of shrimp and grits. We look forward to tasting the jambalaya and cheese burgers on our next visit....probably next month.
Best,
GA.Gals
Gabe Froio
The taste, value, and friendliness of the staff. No frills everything made fresh from scratch.
Randy Blurton
Great food. Friendly folks. Large portions and reasonable prices. My wife and I went for lunch, I had catfish and the wife had shrimp. Had enough left over to take back to our hotel room and have for supper. There are a lot of great places to eat in New Orleans to eat and Hobnobber's is definitely one of them! We will return.
Tiffney Widner
Ok, this was recommended by our hotel's doorman, who described it as "like if your grandma and great-grandma were cooking for Iron Chef". Well...... the shrimp and grits were amazing! I'll be back before I leave to try something else.
Carla Edgar
I love the shrimp and crab meat casserole it is to die for along with everything else they have on their menu what a wonderful place to eat at don't miss your chance try breakfast lunch it is all fantastic trust in a good old southern girls taste buds it's the bomb to eat at
John Robinson
Great food. Quaint atmosphere.
Patrick McGough
Fantastic grilled shrimp, cheesy grits and biscuit!!!!!
William Bronson
Had the best comfort food meal. Stuffed bell peppers and Lina beans with rice. Family loved it. It is old school experience.
meliastokes
Excellent food. Prettiest catfish I ever seen!! It was a perfect golden crust. Tasted great. Grilled shrimp and grits were awesome. Definitely going back!!!
Hotboy Ronald
IF you are visiting new orleans this is the GO TO place. You HAVE to eat at hobnobbers! THe best home style food in city.
Tiyante Bailum
My family and I was recommended to come to this place by a local who over heard us talking about getting some food. Now if you are walking to fast you might pass this hidden gem but when I say the food is delicious and the atmosphere is very welcoming. I’ll definitely be making a stop here every time I visit New Orleans.
Vincent Lai
Great place it get a poy boy, had the fried shrimp and oyster Po boys. Both were delicious and really fresh. Gotta walk down the side past the bar to get to the food. Then you'll find what I think is a very authentic NOLA Restuarant. Service was friendly, quick and was good to go and eat at the bar. There are heaps of beers to choose from, not just the standard American stuff.
Rebecca Dupree
Great food, great drinks, amazing people. Definitely worth stopping in for a breakfast.
Haftling von Miene Denken
Best cajun/creole food I've ever had! My husband had the jambalaya and catfish and I had gumbo and shrimp po boy and they were amazing!! My son got 2 pancakes bigger than his head and sausage and it was only $30. The portions were big enough we had food left to take back to the hotel with us and the staff cooked for us even though they aren't open Sundays! We will definitely be returning here before we leave New Orleans
Jesse Torres
The authentic LA atmosphere (behind the bar) and southern hospitality, like the food are amazing. The fried fish and hashbrowns are worth the time to find and pay for parking. The portions are large and the prices are in line with surrounding establishments.
Qdog Williams
My wife and i like to go to the city because we live in Louisiana about 2 1/2 hrs away! We came upon this place by chance because we didn't know anything about it. We found this place after getting off of the streetcar on the corner of Canal. We heard this loud voice of a guy telling people to come to this place and so we did! And we are so glad we did because this is our new spot when we come down to the city! We had breakfast and my wife had the Shrimp & grits plate, i got traditional breakfast but both plates were good! Definitely recommend eating at this place.
Weston Horton-Prouty
Great food, great service :)
Logan Singleton
Loved this place. Don't expect any fuss or frills. This place is old school, flattop style cooking with big portions and fair prices. I had the ham and cheese omelette and couldn't even finish my plate--and it was plenty delicious. Paul was very friendly and took the time to speak with my co-worker and I about a blog we are writing. I'll be adding a Hobnobber's breakfast to all of my New Orleans trips. Thanks to Paul and the Hobnobber's team for the warm hospitality. I felt like a local!
Miguel Torres
Best kept secret in New Orleans!! Soul food, Cajuns, Creole specialists. At incredibly reasonable prices. Catfish and creamy grits. Best grits in the south. Grilled shrimp. Alligator omelette. Everything we ate was spectacular!! Ate here everyday on our visit for brunch. They close at 2pm so limited window for a visit.
Chawn Simon
Everything that I've ever eaten from here has been absolutely delicious. Food is always perfectly seasoned. Highly recommend.
Thomas Kirk
Stopped in to watch a world cup game and I'm glad I did. I ordered the BBQ ribs and a half of a roast beef po-boy and was in heaven while eating. The BBQ came with some delicious Mac and cheese and the roast beef was sooo tender and flavorful. The kitchen isn't open all day but the staff is super welcoming and quick.
Linda Bynum
Loved it! Referred by Bria @ Wyndham Garden! The food was excellent! We felt right at home! We were met with "Who Dat" smiles and delicious Gumbo and Shimp Po-Boy! Oh yeah, the Peach Cobbler was awesome!
Ash Wilkins
First NOLA meal for a hungry (and thirsty) group of girls. Everyone loved what they got. We ordered then sat in the bar for a couple drinks. Great place to get away from the humidity and fill your stomach for a day of sightseeing.
Amanda Horner
If you're looking for a down home, greasy breakfast spot, this is it. The kitchen has just the right amount of grease over it that you know it's going to be fantastic. Delicious food, friendly staff. It's a bit hidden, so if you walk into a bar, it's ok, just go on to the back, it is worth it.
angela long
The food in this place is GREAT! I had the shrimp and crabmeat casserole with baked macaroni and cheese, potato salad and banana pudding. My husband had the crawfish and corn bisque with a shrimp poboy and bread pudding. We are locals and Hobnobber's is in our top 5 places to eat! If you want Great New Orleans food for a Great price, This is the SPOT!
Ursula Thompson
I had gumbo and a Hobnobber Po Boy for lunch and it was superb. The ladies in the back were really nice. The highlight of my visit here was our server Curt! He was so entertaining and down to earth. I'll visit again on my next trip to NO.
Rachel Douglas
Good food and good people its just a little hole in the wall and I just loved it
Mei Mei
Awesome custer service and food! Went two straight days in a row!

This place is wonderful. Absolutely amazing food, great servers and cooks, and an overall great environment! Would definitely recommend to tourist. 10/10 great restaurant! We’ll be sure to come back soon!
Sue Hardy
I went this morning, the shrimp and grits were so delicious. It was a large portion more than I could finish. Good amout of food for what you pay. Totally a hole in the wall but the staff was very friendly.
Travis Beraud
Food was pretty good & the service was fast to say it was crowded. Paid $2 to upgrade from smoke sausage to hot sausage because hot sausage isn't a breakfast meat. It was a little confusing because they served a hot sausage, eggs & cheese on toast for breakfast.
Ariel Rios
Visiting New Orleans, as I was making my way to California, I decided to go there for breakfast. From the outside, the place doesn't look all that special, but, I left very happy. The breakfast was plentiful and had a great homemade taste to it. I even spent sometime talking to the owner and another worker about various things and they were some of the friendliest people I have ever met, when eating at a restaurant.
Lorretta Baker
Hard to find won't break your budget. My husband had the fried chicken Mac and cheese and dirty rce. I had the shrimp and crab casserole Mac and cheese and side salad. We also had peach cobbler and a banana pudding.all for $30. Very good portion chicken was average. Shrimp and crab casserole was very good. You will enjoy unless you are bougee.
Rhonda Jasper
Loved this placed so much! Saints were playing the day so it had a good vibe, very busy and lovely team behind the counter. Breakfast was good and you definetly come out full! We would go again for the staff, the food and atmosphere 👌 …
Jared Martin
This place is, in a great way, very misleading. For one, you have to be looking for the place to find it... You aren't going to wander in. More importantly... the menu. I ordered jambalaya and catfish. I expected some jambalaya and a filet or two. Instead, I had a plate covered, thickly, with amazing jambalaya. On that, four or five filets were mounded on the jambalaya. The quality and quantity of the food were exceptional. My wife had the seafood platter, which was also overkill incarnate. This place is incredible. It deserves your visit and will get ours again soon.
B. McCreary
We stopped by for a drink before catching our flights back home. This is going to be one of our stops the next time we come. We had a great conversation with one of the employees there.
Jessica Wyers
This place never disappoints. Amazing food, great people. I've been going here nearly every time I step foot in NOLA for nearly 10 years. Best after a Friday night out and need to recover on Saturday.
michelle christian
Food was good and atmosphere was great 👍
Arla Utzman
This was a recommendation from our hotel staff. Talk about some of the best home cooking food. For breakfast you've gotta try the hashbrowns. The best ever. Here for the weekend and had breakfast everyday.
Dave Timmerman
Not easy to find but glad I did. Eat like a local is always the best way to go. Shrimp po' boy and gumbo. Excellent. Took 1/2 the po' boy home. Sat with a couple of local guys who made the lunch truly enjoyable. I will be back again before I leave NOLA. Kirk, thanks for showing me the ropes.
Alvin Hernandez
Delicious breakfast! Best pancakes n don't get me started on the hashbrown! Fire!!!!!! Mimosas were perfect!!!
Tara Cobb
Food was good. The only downside is there is a spending limit to use your credit card. So cash only very, unless you're spending more than 10.00. very inexpensive tho
zane wells
The best hole in the wall bar and restaurant. The guy has been there for 36 years. A+++
Maulin Shah
This is the first restaurant where I have been so blown away that I feel compelled to leave a review. We were in town for jazzfest and needed a place to grab a quick bite and avoid 30 minutes of rain. We ended up staying for two hours due to exceptional service and food. Seriously, the palce looks like a hole in the wall, costs about the same, but tastes better than just about anything else. Hell I'm a vegetarian but I had to break rank because the food smelled so good. 4 Days later I can still remember talking to Boy, Danny, and Donald as they navigated us through food, drink, and and some of the more absurd stories I've heard. Screw cafe Du Monde, this is a real New Orleans gem. If you come, make a point of talking to the staff and eating the gumbo and the crab corn bisque or you're missing out.
Carrie Cox
I went to visit New Orleans. Almost a year ago. I've been searching high & low for the name of this restaurant and I finally found it!!! Omg the BEST GUMBO & catfish po boy ever. It's been almost a year since I've had it and I think about that food all the time. I'll be back in August delicious omg
Shawn W Dagon
Every once in awhile you find the real thing! First and foremost the people- I believe Big Daddy on the outside ( Curtis) who talked us into trying while we parked. Your not going to find it by chance. Cheryl? the kind young lady that tracked me down when I left my phone on the Table..."Thank you"
Now the food - Thanks to all in the small but efficient kitchen, as a chef for years I can certainly understand the limitations of a small space. But what emerges is Food LOVE! I had the Gumbo...Bamm and a Crab Cake plate with Salad and Mac & Cheese... The guy I was with had the Shrimp Po Boy Plate with Gumbo- $ 11.95 - Big Fresh and delicious!! Well worth the trip ! Hope to go back soon- Thank you!
Cedrick Burton
Food was really good location was nothing fancy. Locals doing all of the cooking! Wait staff was simply put, down to earth. Would eat there for a quick bite again.
Wanda Anglin
This is a true New Orleans experience...anyone who does not give it 5 stars does not like the real NOLA. Casual is an overstatement and delicious, gigantic portions is an understatement. From the walk down a dark bricked semi-meandering corridor to the crowded tables and open grill behind the counter, it is a true Big Easy "locals" style place. Go hungry or plan to share a plate, especially for breakfast, there is always too much. Catfish for breakfast, yum! And the grits are to die for. Oh, almost forgot how super cheap the prices are. I go every time I am in the Quarter.
Momski Verde
Authentic homemade creole cuisine at its best!!! Grits and cat fish to die for, corn and crawfish chowder that coats your stomach and taste buds with a touch of love, the shrimp po boy is filled with an abundance of succulent fried seasoned shrimp, and desserts homemade on site that reminds you of grandma in the kitchen. This location will not disappoint, trust me, I'm a fat girl with pallet!!! 😃
Markus Leuschner
Wow...fast...Taste great..fresh...and cheap...friendly people...I will come back
Scott Crosby
If you're ever in a new place looking for a good restaurant search for "hipster restaurants". That's how we found Hobnobbers. This place is in the back of a bar, so you know the vibe is cool. You're greeted by one of the chefs as he explains the menu if it's your first time. The grilled gator poboy was epic. The gumbo was great for dipping the poboy. Everything is great about this place and the price is reasonably positioned to get you to return ;)
Sally L
Excellent service, cheap prices, amazing food!
Dominique W.
Loved the fried catfish and grits! The portions are huge for the price.
Sonya Greene
My husband & I were in New Orleans overnight waiting for check in time for our cruise. Up early & wanting more than just the bland hotel breakfast we started walking to find a place we looked up online. Not even halfway to our destination a guy asked us if we'd like to come in we politely declined an continued walking. About 3 steps past the gentleman we were stopped againg by a very charming and very convincing guy who guaranteed that we would be more than satisfied with is little "Whole in the wall" establishment. BOY WAS HE RIGHT! The food at Hobnobbers was incredible! I had a ham & cheese omelette & OMG the portions were huge. Cheese & ham in every bite and trying grits for the very first time was absolutely delicious. My husband had catfish & grits & he too was very pleased. The fish was light, flaky, perfectly battered & seasoned & fried to perfection. The added bonus to our visit was the cheerful hospitality of the staff. Special thanks to the gentleman who shared his memories of his first srow witnessed after he was relocated due to Hurrican Katrine. Great story & Great experience at Hobnobbers
Matthew Calvo
The best place for good old fashioned Cajun and Creole cooking for a great price! I would recommend this place to literally anyone. The Fried Shrimp PoBoy and Gumbo were the best I've ever had 😄 …
Art Without Fear
I used to order breakfast or an entree when I worked in the Quarters almost EVERY TIME. Consistent. Flavorful.
Decent portions ( I usually have nothing left )
And again.. FLAVORFUL.
Who knew toast could be so astonishingly prepared!
Cuau Sandoval
I was there Saturday late night, and found a good mix of locals and tourists, very friendly bartender, all around great low-key atmosphere. When you get tired of the craziness of Bourbon St, belly up to the bar, order a couple of drinks, and chill.
Monique Barker
Fantastic! The food, the staff, the atmosphere--couldn't be better. I highly recommend this restaurant and bar.
Linda Veren
After being enticed in by a guy on the street, I am NOT sorry we went in and had breakfast. Good food, friendly staff and we would have never eaten there on our own! Definitely a happy hole in the wall!
John Painter
Blink and you'll miss it. Great food and great, warm hospitality. Despite my stomach telling me to stop, i couldn't stop shoveling the hash browns down the hatch. Came in hungry and happy, left well fed and even happier.
Dexter Cooper
It was very nice to visit for breakfast my four years absence. Great to shake hands with the owner.
Lauren Charles
You go to Hobnobber's for a beer, but you stay for the food. We stumbled into this place after seeing a parade and really just went in for a beer and to use the bathroom, but when walked into the back room and saw the food everyone was eating we knew we had to stay. I am still thinking about that crab bisque we had. The best part is you don't even feel like you're eating in the middle of busy city. 10/10
Venita Brown
I've been going to Hobnobber's for many years, crab and shrimp casserole is my favorite, staff is friendly. Desserts also. They deliver in CBD.
Michael Hagan
Very cool dive with a traditional New Orleans grub restaurant attached to the back. The owner, Paul, is a New Orleans native and has been running this spot for 28 years. His roots are imbedded in the insanely good food. The Po' boys are po' boy prices, like they're supposed to be, without affecting quality and taste... Like they're supposed to be. And forget about the gumbo!!! I'm a tough food critic and the gumbo is the best I have ever had. Loaded with tons of seafood, fresh crab still in the shell, Andouille and a light rue makes it distinct from most I've tried. Go in, grab a drink from the great bar staff, and order bowl of gumbo and a Po' boy!
faraj haddad
Hands down the best. Its small and behind a bar but the staff are the best. Cheap and the best cajon food I've found! I didn't even know what crab n' corn bisque was before and know i want ot all the time.
James Thomas
From chi town and I love good food the best I've had try them out everything is good. And the employees are the funniest. 2021 of June
Grant Pruin
Wonderful food! Wonderful service! I wish I had more room for more food. People were kind, service was quick. Go here. You don’t know what you are missing.
Jen Bee
I haven't been back since June 2012, but there is nothing that I can forget about this place and I recommend it to anyone that's travelling to NOLA to eat there! You get full and will be completely satisfied and won't spend a whole lot of money. I had the gumbo/shrimp po' boy among the other things...just let me say this, DAMMIT WE DON'T HAVE THIS IN CALIFORNIA!!
Tianna Curry
The sweetest little spot in NOLA!!! This tiny spot will fill your soul with the spirit of what Nola is all about, We stayed at a hotel very close to this spot and knew nothing about it for 3 of the 4 day trip we took to N.O. on the last day of our trip we heard a man doing a shout out on the side of the street getting ppl to come in to this restaurant that we could not figure out where it was. We where so hungry and this guy was screaming out what this resultant that we could not see served. We had spent so much money on Bourbon st days prior, at all the Bourbon staples and I had never heard of Hobnobber's. We decided to give it a try. When walking in you feel like you have just discovered something great. By judging all the ppl that were eating or leaving you just knew this was going to be a slice of true non commercialized New Orleans dive. If your looking for table cloth and napkin this isn't the place, go back to Bourbon but doing as the locals do this is IT. We met the cooks sitting outside as we were leaving. They talked with us and became family that quick. lol We will be back in two weeks and cant wait to return!!!

Jambalaya so good that I can honestly say that I’ve now only eaten jambalaya once in my life - all of the other times were just salty rice, some tomato juice and shards of meat by comparison.

Thank you for the great memories

Good, small, less crowded spot to hang around during Mardi Gras parades. Please do NOT have their "has browns" - it's just a cup full of mashed potatoes + salt!
Ketan Patel
The most friendly staff I've ever met. It was a little quiet at 1 am on a Thursday, but it was the perfect environment to meet great people and gave a good night
Patrick Pagel
These grits, though.... These GRITS though.... My life has been changed by the cheap prices, huge portions, and copious amounts of butter and love put into this food. Thanks for hustling me in the door, it was perfect

We have been going to Hobnobbers since we discovered it in New Orleans 10 years ago! On this trip our friends wanted to try somewhere new so we did and it didn't even come close to Hobnobbers! We should have stuck to what we love because sadly they are closed on Sunday! Keep doing what you do and we will never skip your place again!
Ms. J. W.
GREAT Food... I feel bad bc I allowed someone else to pay for my food (meaning I gave them the money) but the person I told to take care of it for me only gave the delivery person a .0.25 tip. Oh god I felt soooo bad.. I had advised a 1.00 or so... Now he may not come back... I have been trying to call every since the delivery.... So I will keep trying... IM sooo embarrassed....I have to give a better tip than that.
