Highly recommend. The flavor of the food was 👩‍🍳💋 I had the fried catfish & my wife had the white bean/shrimp special. Sooooo good! You can tell they are learning the ropes so go in with that expectation for service. I saw several people coaching in the moment....what a great way to get on the job training. Tip well! They are all working hard!

Where to even start?? The premise behind this place is to teach and mentor youth. Add to that the food is amazing and you can see how they are a success... I highly recommend coming in for a meal, the catfish plate was fantastic and the jalapeño cornbread should not be missed! My wife had the fried green tomato sandwich with the sweet potato crumble, another great dish... Stop and meet the friendly and helpful staff, you wont be disappointed!

Getting some amazing food at Cafe Reconcile, a really neat place where they "transform the lives of young adults by encouraging personal growth, providing workforce development and training, and equipping young people with tools to achieve their potential." Highly recommend. Food portions were amazing for the cost. Absolutely loved the gumbo. The burger was spectacular, didn't even need dress it with anything else. The rice and beans was so filling. Didn't realize it came with sausage, else I wouldn't have ordered a side of it! Sooo filling. Will be back again soon.

A great meal just a short Uber ride from Canal street New Orleans. Gumpo was prepared by our server, the shrimp po boy was presented well and a huge portion. Jalapeno cornbread went well in gumbo. A winner all around!

Setting aside their very worthy mission, this is one of those rare places that you can tell every ingredient and everything done to it along the way has been studied and perfected and passed down, but comes together in a way that isn’t at all overwrought. Really some of the best, most artfully put together food I’ve ever had. I am really hoping to find a copy of their cookbook.

This restaurant has great food but the a few times there has been something interesting happening. Like, today, the system us down. I was asked to pay cash. Last time I was refused dessert, after my meal because the restaurant was closing. That helps me make a decision to return or not.

This is an EXCELLENT..place ..it's actually a restaurant that's sort of a help to troublesome youth program..to help them and train them to a great path and opportunity to be someone Great at a Chef/ Cook .. the food and service is EXCELLENT. Who ever came up with this 💡 ..is not only Brilliant but an awesome person for helping our Youth.. they are only open from 11 30 am to 1 30 pm ..the tips go to the school program to keep it going.. you can tip the staff or the program..we did Both ..God bless 🙌 this place ...Again EXCELLENT all around.

Visiting Reconcile is by far one of the best experiences of our trip to New Orleans. We found out about it because of Anthony Bourdain's show and the story behind its existence is beautiful, we wanted to go just for the cause in itself, but we were happily overwhelmed by the food. It was AMAZING, the seasoning of the food, the presentation of the plates, the service of the staff and I cannot emphasize it enough: THE TASTE OF THE FOOD is incredible. The prices are great as well, the three of us had big meals and dessert all for 53 dollars. I would recommend it to whoever visits New Orleans and encourage to find out the story behind the place, get involved with it and support the project because the outcome is astonishing.

The fried green tomatoe sandwich with bacon was too salty. The bread, which is corn bread was ok. Potatoe salad was bland. Co worker had fried portobello mushroom sandwich on french which she enjoyed and watermelon lemonade which she loved. Sauce for bread pudding was gritty, sugar not cooked properly.Service was great and pleasant atmosphere with easy parking in their lot.

We had a wonderful lunch here one of our best in a week long stay in New Orleans. The food and the servers are topnotch at great prices. Very friendly and warm atmosphere. Would definitely return. One of the best. A block or so away is the museum of Southern food and drink too. Thank you Reconcile for making our visit to NOLA even more memorable! This is a not to missed place in NOLA.

I go to Cafe Reconcile often and enjoy the food. The shrimp & white beans dish is great. It took me a long time to try it because I had never eaten it before. I grew up eating white beans with sausage and rice. Eating it with shrimp didn’t seem right. But I like white beans and I like shrimp. My friend convinced me to try it. I’m glad I did. You should try it. You’ll be glad too

March 16, 2017. Cafe Reconcile is the best restaurant that I ever been to. The chicken has a zing to the flavor, the mac & cheese is so cheesy that makes you want more, and the jalapeno corn bread is tangy and out of this world. The service was great, the food is fabulous, and the people are so nice. I hope I can go again and eat some more of their fabulous food.

Brought my mom here for lunch when she was visiting from Arizona. SHE LOVED IT. This is usually my go-to place for lunches. I love the mission, food, and service. I also cater from and hold events here often as well. I have never been disappointed. Shout out to Lisa North!!

i genuinely cant find anything to fault about this cafe, the food was mindblowingly good, healthy, inexpensive and filling (i think i paid around $15 for a meal that came with two sides + unlimited french bread). the service was even better - southern hospitality is real, yall. the best part was their mission. so honourable and theyre really saving kids lives. please consider donating to make up for the cheap prices!!

Another I've driven by for years and today I went. Started with an amazing turkey neck and was so pleased to have tried it. It led me to think the rest of the lunch was going to be wonderful. My friends crawfish po-boy made me wish I had also ordered one to go with my crawfish topped grilled catfish! Friendly staff and nice environment. I did notice a few tables with crumbs underneath, but this is understandable if you are familiar with the bread they use for the sandwiches--it's the best choice...

A friend surprised me with lunch thru Uber eats from this place and it was awesome!!! I had the sesame glazed salmon with mixed veggies and a side salad (not pictured) and it was sooooooooo good. It was flavorful and cooked to perfection. I will definitely be eating from this place more often.

Cafe Reconcile is a gem in Central City. Primarily a workforce development organization but also great food. They brought back the fried portabello mushroom sandwich which was my favorite for years. The catfish with Crawfish sauce is a great choice too. They have daily specials so of course try their red beans on Mondays. Staff is friendly and attentive. The chicken and sausage gumbo is delicious!

REALLY GOOD . My catfish was fried just right. The crawfish saws on perfect. Mac and Cheese was really good to. And the price is really cheap for what I ate. The jalapeno corn bread was good. But a little hard on the edges. Maybe 1-2 mins in the oven too long. But still good. Almost a perfect meal.

We found out about Cafe Reconcile from Anthony Bourdain's No Reservation show (RIP). The entire story of Cafe Reconcile was so positive, we decided to come for lunch even though we just ate breakfast less than an hour ago. The restaurant only open for a few hours during the day, check their hours online. The staffs were so friendly and nice, I really appreciate everything they have done to try better themselves. The foods were delicious, we ordered a large bowl of gumbo and a deep fried crawfish po boy. I would totally come back again the next time I'm in NOLA. Keep up the good work!

This place was recommended to us and in no way did it disappoint - it far surpassed our expectations.The people who dedicate their time and effort to run programmes there and the trainees who are doing all they can to make a better life for themselves inspire us to be respectful of all people, to not give up on anyone, each and everyone of us has so much to contribute to society. They have an amazing program there. They truly are being Jesus to the kids that can't seem to find their way. The staff help them to find a way and then once they graduate, they return as mentors. Food is delicious and the servers do a great job!

Dinner last night was perfectly prepared and served by staff that were extremely happy to be there. What a joyful experience! The Cafe's Mission includes: "With a new set of marketable skills, students interview for three-week paid Internships that transition into permanent Employment with one of Reconcile’s 39 employment partners. During this phase our youth get valuable experience in a supportive setting and hopefully can secure the offer of a more permanent job. Students without a high school diploma are referred to local HiSET programs and given space and support to work on their learning goals. Once students are matched with internships/employment, students and their employers work with Reconcile’s Employment and Education Coordinator who provides 12 months of follow-up support to help students and employment partners successfully manage students’ transitions. They are also invited to join Reconcile’s growing Alumni network and have the opportunity to serve on the Reconcile Alumni Council giving back to the community."

there are about 40 good reasons to eat here, and all of them work the kitchen or the floor or some aspect of the restaurant. they are young at-risk men and women who aspire to eventually work in some aspect of the hospitality business. some graduates of the program are already working in high-dollar kitchens. go on thursday for the shrimp and white beans. it ain't fancy, but it's darned good, and it's for a mighty fine cause.

What a neat cafe and organization. I ate lunch on “pay what you can” day and enjoyed a delicious meal. I also learned about this organization that provides employment opportunity, training, and other wraparound services to at-risk youth ages 16-24, a mission I fully support. The hospitality industry in NOLA is nothing if not booming and getting these kids working is a great start for many of them!
