Reviews of Urban Grub

We went here for brunch and it was good. Certain parts of the restaurant are very loud with people simply enjoying themselves, which we didn’t mind. Great grilled oysters. We picked quite a few things off the menu and enjoyed them all. Definitely a place we will revisit. We had reservations but still have to wait a few extra minutes. We did t mind. It’s a very busy place, so do be patient. Giving it 4 stars because our waitress could of been a bit more attentive- another waiter near by checked on us quite a bit.

We found Urban Grub super last minute, I called doubting they would have an available reservation but we’re able to get us in for 8pm. We got there a little early and they sat us in the chef’s table which gave us a full view of the expo operation. Thank you so much to the hostess Rue for squeezing our party of 5 in and giving us the best experience! Ryan Miller is hands down the best server. He knows the menu on the back of his hand. Very professional and passionate about his job. The Virginia Oysters were great! We ordered the Scallops and Double Cut Pork chop! They even brought us sweets from their in house bakery for my birthday! This was the best dinner we had while in Nashville!

We visited from out of town and looked for places that allow dogs since we had our pup with us. We were able to sit on the back patio area next to the bar. It is enclosed, heated and super cozy. Some of the tastiest food we’ve ever eaten. Literally every dish from appetizer to salad to main course was amazing. Recommend the pork chops! Krista took care of us. She provided us with the absolute BEST service. She gave us a run down of the menu and some of the local favorites. She was super fast and made us feel so welcome. It can be stressful finding a place to bring your dog to dinner in the dead of winter and Urban Grub was able to accommodate us. Lastly, the super friendly bartender brought out dog treats for our pup and offered to bring out a water bowl. Thank-you for the amazing experience, the best service, and delicious food! Highly recommend this place to everyone!

I’ve waited awhile to write this review, and have teetered back and forth between 3 and 4 stars. I’ve settled on 3 because the service and food were good, but there were several nuisances that made the meal very uncomfortable for me.
The environment, while cozy and cool, was very loud.
The crab fritters were a little mushy… good flavor, but I wish they were crispier.
The pork fries came recommended, and were fun to try. Some pieces were tough—I probably wouldn’t get again.
Tuna Poke was out of this world.
I would have purchased the basket of complimentary cheesy popovers and biscuits. SO GOOD.
Now…….. the entrees. I was disappointed in the servers’ recommendations for entrees. We dine at restaurants in this price bracket often, and these are by far the LARGEST portions I have ever been served. And for me, that’s not a good thing. When I was expecting a few pieces of fire-roasted chicken with a side of crispy rice and tasty sauce, I was served a WHOLE CHICKEN with a sprinkle of crispy rice on top and not near enough sauce. No one person needed to order that entree, though prepared well and very moist. It could’ve been shared by our table of 4. She did not recommend I order any sides to enjoy with my WHOLE CHICKEN either. Not a very fun meal to eat. I was very overwhelmed by the portion size and disproportionate ratio of meat to side/garnish/sauce.
The lobster risotto, again, prepared well, I’m certain had a whole portion lobster meat on it, with some extra on top. The other two entrees our table ordered were also 2-3 servings.
And as travelers from out of town, we were leaving the next day and did not need, or even frankly want, leftovers. I prefer to enjoy several smaller courses and leave satisfied at restaurants of this kind.
Again, good food, fine service, but beware of portion sizes. Split if you can… or better, Urban Grub, change your serving sizes.

This place is amazing. The service was incredible - our waiter knew the menu very well, gave excellent recommendations, and even told some interesting history about how the restaurant came about.
They items we received had very generous portions and the flavors were incredible.
They have a solid drink menu including great craft beer, wine, and cocktail selections.
The atmosphere got 4/5 only because it was very loud the night we were there. Aside from that, they have a (propane I think) "fireplace" in the center of the room and an exposed brick/ceramic oven by the kitchen that really add to the artisan feeling of the place.
Next time I am back in Nashville I will 100% be making another reservation!!

We love the brunch at Urban grub. Excellent service. We went on Saturday the 12th and our waitress was excellent. Friendly and very she attentive but always brought a chill vibe with her in a way that was refreshing.
Definitely (DEFINITELY!) Recommend going to the seafood/brunch buffet.
In my opinion, the best deal is to get a small breakfast entree and add one trip to the buffet to that.
You can put as much as will fit on your plate for that one trip, and they have beautiful fresh oysters and giant fresh jumbo shrimp, beautiful meats and cheeses and much more. I would recommend going through the bar by loading your plate backwards if you like prosciutto! :)
Pictured: The classic eggs Benedict with cheese grits photo number two is the lovely little breads and muffins and jam you get and in the background is a small sampling of what is on the buffet. (I wish I would have gotten a better picture of the brunch buffet items; It really is a beautiful layout of choices!!)

Cute, hip, cozy spot for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. The seafood was really good! The seafood charcuterie bar is phenomenal! The biscuits and jam are incredible, as is the shrimp and grits and the burger. The fries were the only menu item that was just okay. Definitely not worth lowering to 4 stars. The eating spaces were really nice. My party sat outdoors by the fireplace. They also have space heaters. The seating is very comfortable. Several outdoor guests had their dogs, so dog lovers may find this appealing. I'm not a fan of dogs around when I'm eating and we noticed our server interacting with the dogs several times. That was kind of concerning, but not the biggest deal. All staff were kind and accommodating. Valet is available, which makes for a really seamless experience. Will definitely be back!

We came to dinner here during our visit to Nashville. They had amazing reviews so we definitely had to check them out. Our waitress Bernadette definitely helped with her recommendations. *sidenote* I was freezing when I arrived and she got management to turn the fans off which was a win. For the appetizer we had the sweet chili Brussels sprouts which were so good. I had one of their specialty drinks which was like a mule which was yummy. The show stopper for me was the Wagyu steak. That had to be the best steak I’ve ever had in my life. It was hot and melted in your mouth tender. My boyfriend had the pork shank with street corn and grits. Everything that we had was absolutely wonderful. When we visit again I’m definitely stopping by for another meal😀

Nice ambiance, despite the flies. The shrimp and grits was delicious. Would also order the collard greens again. Some of the steak options didn’t seam worth the price. I was appreciative of the happy anniversary treat. Would def come back.

Reservation recommended as this place is very busy with good reason. The food and service shine at Urban Grub.
Basket of Complimentary Popovers and Biscuits - Delicious
Crab Beignets - Not a fan of the mush like texture and little flavor
Lobster & Crab Cakes - Very good quality - Bit pricy for two cakes
Shrimp & Grits - Simply Outstanding
I look forward to a future visit. 4.5 (5.0)
