Reviews of The Butter Milk Ranch
Terrence Mahnken
A charming, chic eatery featuring familiar favorites and unique creations. The portions are huge, the flavors are exceptional, and there is something for every palette.
The Double Stuffed Everything “Bagel” (actually a big, fluffy, buttery croissant with everything bagel seasoning on top) was amazing. The ingredients were so fresh, and the side salad was delicious. A perfect, light side for such a rich sandwich.
Their baked goods are fantastic as well. How could a giant, soft cookie topped with Cinnamon Toast Crunch be bad?!
The atmosphere and decor (like their menu) blend modern with traditional, familiar with exotic, simple with fancy. We will definitely be back.

Omg the wait was long as I can see they have a lot of customers we usually as a family don’t like waiting but, this hour wait was amazing our food was delicious. We order the biscuit as our starter then the chicken and waffle ,blueberry pancake ,and dirty south fried rice. The food was YUMMY YUMMY in our tummy I love it so much. The vibe was great and if you look at their menu it probably would be a hard decision on deciding what you want to try as everything looks good.

New spot in 12 south, which is split into a bakery/coffee spot and the restaurant in the back. Be prepared for a minimum of a 30 minute wait. Their menu is very diverse and they have a dry aged meat selection which is great and full of flavor. It's a very inviting environment and the staff is kind. The food was delicious and unique. The drink menu has lots of different flavors. We had brunch so I got mimosas. The pastries we tride were good only recommendation would be to heat the chocolate in the chocolate croissant. Other than that we will be back. Thank you for the great food and hospitality.

This place gets five stars all day, I’d give it six if I could. Easily one of the coolest breakfast spots I’ve ever been to and the food is amazing! The entire place has a bit of a homey, mid century, cabin sort of vibe It’s just perfect. Starbucks has nothing on this place haha. Everything is just so fresh and delicious. I really love the hot chocolate so thick and strong it’s almost like a coffee. If you’re ever visiting the south side of Nashville please go here I promise you will not be disappointed!

My favorite dining experience during our visit to Nashville - and we ate EVERYWHERE. Long wait (35 min) for brunch but worth it. Great menu, we could hardly make up our minds! We ended up with cheese grits, steak and eggs, salmon on an everything croissant, fluffy, scrumptious blueberry pancakes, bacon, and andouille sausage - we wanted the beautiful, delicious pastries too but we were stuffed! Wait staff is helpful, happy and friendly and the premises are clean with lots of natural light. Definitely recommend for breakfast or brunch.

One of the cities greatest new restaurants, my friends and I have found our favorite breakfast/brunch/lunch hang out.
Every plate is like a breakfast work of art. Best French pastries, amazing coffee selection, and attentive and gracious hospitality.
I took a pic of the kitchen team.
It’s truly a show kitchen along with a suburb dining experience.
Impressive interior, beautiful dining and a great 12 South outdoor patio.
Epic! Take time to enjoy this special experience.

Best breakfast I've had in a long time. The server was very friendly and knowledgeable about everything on the menu which had lots of interesting choices I'll have to go back to try. I didn't get a picture of the beignets, but definitely get them. They were perfect! I'll definitely be back

This place has been on my list for a while now and finally got a chance to go dine in. (I’ve gotten pastries and a sandwich from the front counter before)
Was seating by the fireplace which was really nice and cozy but my husband was facing the windows staring into the sun the whole time. Even with the shades down people in the room were having to wear sunglasses so you may not want to be seated there.
Beignets were absolutely amazing. In addition to powdered sugar they had a sprinkling of sea salt which was a lovely addition. Would come back just for those again and again. We split the hot chicken biscuit and Turkey sandwich. Everything was very good. Perfect balance of flavors.
Our one complaint was the sourdough the Turkey sandwich was served on was clearly so burnt… Like should-have-been-thrown-out-level burnt, yet they served it. As a very finessed bakery that left me puzzled but we didn’t want to fuss with sending it back because we were very hungry and it was very busy.

We took our family of 4 (plus a friend) to Buttermilk Ranch! We are locals and we were pleasantly surprised by the food, ambiance and how family friendly it is.
The snickerdoodle latte (iced) was a favorite at our table. We got different entrées and they were all delicious. You can’t go wrong with any item in the menu. While they don’t have a kids menu, it was easy to find something for the girls to eat. They have high chairs and restrooms are family friendly for both moms and dads.
Now, expect a wait during busy times. We got into the waitlist at 10:30 and the table was ready at noon if that tells you anything. This place can be difficult to get into if you decide to go on a whim. Luckily for us, we were able to go to church and find parking in time before our table was ready.
If you want to grab a few pastries without dining in, there is no wait time for that. We got the churro croissant and the crème brûlée croissant and it was devoured.
I give this place ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Out of 5! We will be coming back.

Its a beautiful place, great food, you pay for what you get, but on drinks? They charged $7 for a 6oz of orange juice? And for any other drink in my opinion is WAY too expensive. And please of your getting a substitution be aware that they may charge you more than you think, I would have liked that my server would has let me know that how much does each fixing would cost. And the potatoes don’t look as good as i would like, they are a bit messy and a lot of just crumbs.

What a wonderful place. Not only is the food incredible, the staff is so friendly. Innovative food that just tastes lovely. I love how it was decorated for the Christmas holiday. Made you feel like you were eating in a gingerbread house. This place is a gem
Linda Mitchell
Breakfast was fantastic. Took home some pastries and they were delicious. We arrived at 9am on a Sunday and were seated quickly. Waited about 40 minutes on food. By the time we left at 10am, the wait was 2 hours! Get there early but if you don't, It is worth the wait!
Paquita Poindexter
We ate at the bar because bar seating has access to both the cafe and restaurant menu. Our bartender Ericka was fabulous and very personable. Highlights from the meal included the croissant cube breakfast sandwich, smoked trout tartine, cheesy grits and dulce de leche pancakes. The pancakes weren't overly sweet because of the goat cheese and squash. If I lived in Nashvillw, I would go to this place every weekend. Yum!
Córdova Bleu
New spot alert 🚨 Beautiful building and decor . That along is inviting to the people . Great service, flavorful food. And dessert is smacking good . In house meat preparation. I never been in a restaurant that has it displayed so clean , no smells . It was definitely an experience. Check them out and thank me later .
Stefanie Bomar
We went when it was all decked out for Christmas. Looked super cool! Very tasty stuff. We had the cubed sandwiches, which were great. Only taking one star off because we both felt our sandwiches could've used a bit more meat, compared to the croissant. But the croissant itself is delicious. Great place to bring kids to as well. Yummy baked goods and nice milkshakes and ice cream sodas. Definitely worth a visit!
Jimmy Monreal
The southern Benedict eggs were flavorful and hearty. The habiscus margarita was refreshing. The pastries were out favorite part. The biscuits were simple and perfect. The mango habanero pastry was a pleasant surprise and well worth trying. It does have a subtle kick to it.
Laura Chapoy
Great breakfast spot. Huge portions, so plan on sharing your favorite food.
Pancakes come in 3, and are easily able for 2-3 people. Starters of Biscuits and Poblano Sawmill Gravy, Not a fan of the gravy, but was ok. 12 South Breakfast of potatoes, kale, scramble, green onions, Avocado comes in a skillet. Very flavorful!
Aquarius X
enjoyed a wonderful delicious breakfast, & tasty mimosas… atmosphere was relaxing and even offered a patio setting! due to my server I will be rating 4 star as requested no spicy ranch & rather than correcting it he offered me to try it, & I simply just accepted the wrong order. Even a table beside me interrupted our conversation due to her order being wrong. Will be returning to give another chance!
sean mckinney
The food here is perfect. I can’t say enough good things about this place. The beverages are well crafted, the pastries are as good as anything I’ve had in France and the food is amazing. I love the menu with so many a la carte options available. The atmosphere is very chill and approachable right after rolling out of bed. Buttermilk Ranch is five mins from my condo and I plan to be there weekly.
Marilyn Wen
Great breakfast place. The key lime beignets are PERFECT! Scramble was a really good blend of cheese veggies and fruits. mimosa was average and a bit overpriced. Overall experience was incredible. Will visit again.
Caro Wood
Stopped here by chance on local google search as we were passing through Nashville. And were positively delighted with their fare of fresh baked goods and amazing menu. Ordered the wagyu steak & eggs, beignets, eggs benedict. Wish we lived closer to come here on the regular!

I would give this place 9/10 because of the price, but then again, there is true artistry in the way the food is made and plated. When I read about "breakfast cubes" I thought I was going to get a slice of a breakfast casserole.
Honestly the menu screens are sitting high on a wall next to a light bar and trying to read it hurts your eyes. I didn't see the other menus sitting around because of the crowd in front of us... So I went for what I thought would come out bad to test the new place and it blew my mind! These croissant cubes are extremely delicious, the creamy filling of cream cheese, cheese, and egg was perfectly placed/cooked into the middle. I loved everything about every bite I took. The croissant itself was actually buttery throughout despite the darker corners from the creation process. I don't know how it's done but boy, do I wanna learn after this! I'm still drooling.
I think for $7 they could have probably filled up the small glass of orange juice that I ordered... Like I said, price point is the ONLY reason I'm giving this 4 stars.
Not to mention the fact that they have FREE PARKING! so many places around here make you pay. Another big reason to go back. You can't park anywhere anymore in Nashville for free.
Olena Boyko
This place is worth a visit if you're in Nashville. Definitely one of the better places to get a good bite. Delicious sandwiches and pastries, and they're beautiful too! Plus the space is so cute and well lit, and all of the staff were so friendly.
Zandra B.
Just go. Please. Like now. Lol. I had an amazing first experience at BMR recently with my husband. We had a great waitress who took her time & explained the menu to us & what the fan favorites were. I ordered the breakfast croissant with ranch potatoes. I couldn’t get a good picture of my husbands food because he had already dug in like he hadn’t eaten in days lol, but he had a pancake, sausage, eggs, & biscuits. The biscuits & sausage were superb. Everything was super fresh & I loved hearing they make everything in house. Awesome experience. Will definitely be back!
Darara Borodge
Truly a gem of Nashville. Friendly staff, amazing pastries, food that doesn't make you feel bad about yourself, and an affogato milkshake to die for. You don't want to miss this place!
Honky Tonk Party Express
If you want an experience for Breakfast / Brunch come here! The best spot on 12th Ave. Our bachelorette parties love it! Almost all of them have this place on their to do list when visiting 12th South.
Mercy Dutcher
This place was to die for. The cinnamon roll was by far my favorite thing I think I've ever eaten but the breakfast sandwiches were also amazing. The banana pudding elcair looked GORGEOUS but flavor was disappointing. Would have loved to stop by again. SO GOOD! 😍🤤
Joana Borges
Not only this is and amazing place where me @jojo_stickers and @bougettsandarrows have our iconic Dolly Parton, the Ranch has so much history in it’s architecture and previous owners, as it has the most delicious food you can have.
Go check it out! It’s as 12 out of 10

Breakfast, lunch, and small-batch bakery in 12th South with fun pop-up bars after hours & private events. The vibe is airy and chill, the drinks are amazing, and food is great. You can find parking in the lot or along nearby streets.
Sadie Ball
beautiful restaurant with amazing, unique food. Definitely will be going back again and again. If you want good coffee and good food for a good price, I highly recommend visiting here.
Brittany Davis
Buttermilk Ranch has really filling food. The portions are large and the prices are great for such a large amount! Try to join the wait list online so you don't have to wait at the place. Parking is all street and throughout the neighborhood.
Sunnie Williams
The buttermilk ranch offers a full service or counter cafe experience. It’s cafe offerings include beautiful handcrafted pastries, nutritious to go breakfasts and delicious espresso. However my friend and I opted for the full service dining room! On a Sunday mid morning, they projected we’d wait an hour and a half but we only waited 40 minutes tops! The staff was very nice and the food was great!!! If you don’t eat meat or dairy, they’ve got ample sides to make a great breakfast of your own. My favorite part was the house made bread. Do not skip that! A great addition to 12 south. Keep up the great work Buttermilk Ranch!

In town for work/CMA fest. Place is FANTASTIC. Music is poppin’ even at 9:30AM. Service is impeccable. Ari took REAL good care of us. Gruyère and Chive omelette is to die for. Make sure you get a side of sourdough bread to dip in the chive/garlic oil. 🤠 …
Rick Petri
So good! They've got the savory sweet thing down to perfection, something for everyone and a great place to get your day drink on!
Ashley Liu
Amazing food. Relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff. Hands down the best breakfast place I’ve been to in Nashville!!
Brandon Jones
Awesome chicken & waffles (the hot ones)! The portions are huge, and the breads are creative and delicious.
Alice Kemmer
Just visited this new restaurant! We had an hour wait which we took advantage of doing some shopping. The restaurant is beautiful. The service is great! I had the cinnamon twist coffee and it's everything it's supposed to be. The Pumpkin Crunch pancakes which, had no flavor at all. They are big and fluffy but I can make a better pancake at home. If you want pancakes in Nashville you need go to the pancake professionals at Pancake Pantry. The bacon is smoked with not enough smoke at all. I view it as a grocery store level. Benton Bacon which is a 45 minute drive from Nashville is a better choice of bacon. Over all we will be back but will not be ordering the items listed above. Save your money and skip these menu choices.
Patrick Londino
I expected to find a traditional breakfast spot when in walked in but it feels more like an upscale bakery. Self-described as a breakfast, lunch, and small batch bakery so I think that’s spot on! We had the Bacon Squared and Highbrow Appalachian. These are like an artisanal “crosanwiches” and they do not disappoint! Roll up your sleeves , smash ‘‘em down, and shove them in!!! After breakfast I went back to sample their baked goods… chocolate chip cookie, gingerbread chuck cookie (Christmas time), and a pistachio lime(lime cheesecake mousse) all very good!! I guess my review shows that I love this place! Gotta go if you’re in the 12th South hood!
Trevor B
Popular place, high quality food great service. I personally feel their menu needs some work. The cornmeal waffles isn’t it. Not only all 4 of us got and didn’t really like it, others nearby said same thing. Overall good place just need some tweaks rather than try to be “unique”.

What can I say about the Butter Milk Ranch that will make this place stand out from all your typical tourist attraction restaurants. For one, the decor is awesome. It is the perfect setting to host a private or public event. The food is definitely a page out of the mind of a creative chef who loves to experiment with different ideas. The breakfast squares are a hit. Tried the C'Reuben and it was quite satisfactory. The prices are typical of a restaurant that is in the 12th south area. Although the breakfast cubes are contingently small for the price, this spot will definitely have you coming back for the warm atmosphere. It is worth the visit, if not at least twice.
House of Warmth
5 stars plus!!! We are staying in downtown Nashville and were looking for a place for breakfast and I’m so glad we found this place. It is a one of a kind place with the best breakfast food ever! The OJ was fresh squeezed. The ham and cheese omelet was the best I’ve ever had. The pancakes were delicious and thick. The biscuits were very tasty and the wheat toast was fresh baked! All I can say is WOW! We almost disregarded this place because it was further away but I’m glad we didn’t! One of the best breakfasts we’ve ever had! ❤️🥰

First time at the Butter Milk Ranch. My youngest boy took us here for lunch. Nice place with outdoor seating. Lots of tables inside. The atmosphere is on the loud side and I have to listen carefully when conversing with my son. The menu took time to review and select a dish. Not a menu with typical dishes. I ordered the turkey sandwich and fruit side. Enjoyed it. My boy ordered the fried chicken sammy. It too wants good. While it seemed busy, out lunch came out in good time (17 minutes). Will return another day.
Silvana Villamizar
This is probably one of the best brunches I’ve ever had. You can’t go wrong with anything you order from the menu. The food is filled with flavors and the green juices are also great! It’s a must add to your Nashville itinerary if visiting.
Ella Fayer
Not very vegetarian friendly, both in that many of the things have meat in them (like their queso, for example) and in that the menu doesn't have any sign for vegetarian so you have to read through every name and description to find the few vegetarian options. They do have impossible sausage that you can sub in a few places. That said, the food we did order was delicious. We got the Kale and Grit Bowl which was excellent and some kind of Benedict (not finding it on online menu and not sure on name) with pimento corn gravy and impossible sausage.
The service left something to be desired. We were there when it was half empty (8:30AM on a Saturday) and our server was disengaged. We asked for an extra bowl because we'd share, and that did not come out. We asked the food runner again when the food was dropped off, and he said yes and never brought it. Only about 10-15 minutes after we got our food did our server check on us and tell us she'd bring the extra bowl.
Angela M Ferguson
Super friendly with amazing gluten free options! Lots of gluten free pastries as well!
Armando Martinez
Great service and attentive waiters, I tried the spicy chicken and waffles nothing special and lightly salty. My wife had the the cheese and ham omelette also nothing fascinating about it. Maybe we selected the wrong plates. Coffee was good and strong.
Sherri Harrell
Let me 1st say our server Jada was amazing 👏. She said it was her first day on the job, she very nice and sweet! The food was good and plenty on the plate for the price!! I would definitely come again! …

Might be the best restaurant in Nashville. You're not gonna get fancy small plates but there's not a restaurant in town that is as consistent at delivering amazing looking and tasting food. Food is meant to be an art and they definitely do this with their creative seasonal dishes and their mainstay items. It is very evident that there is a lot of effort in what they do here.
Jay C.
Great location, delicious food, and amazing service by Ari. My wife stopped by here with a friend a few weeks ago and was raving about the food. But wow, she wasn't wrong!
Between the fresh and flavorful menu options, to the French press coffee, to the warm and cheerful service who made us feel like family, I couldn't ask for a better place to visit.
Steven Gill
Whole crew enjoyed the food and the service! Normally I take pictures to show off the food but we all did a brunch and were starving. Only complaint is the spicey chicken and waffle could have had a little more kick to it. Fast, well made, and the coffee was good. Not sure if you get refills on the coffee though. We fished our first ones with the meal. Also if a group, get the biscuits and gravy as a starter. The different gravies are a cool. #TeamCornGravy

First time trying out. Did the to go route since I only had an hour for breakfast. Ordering was simple hostest was the sweetest and the place is super clean and amazing display case. The food and drinks are worth it BUT our food ticket got lost and when we were just given our drinks and informed the lady of our missing food she looked at me like I was lying. Took 2 more tries and finally got my full order. Felt the customer service fell flat in that department. Plus felt super awkward and in the way. Maybe Ill try again.
Jessica Stragand
Waited an hour and a half but that was no issue because we walked around and got coffee until our table was ready. Mimosa I got had an odd smell to it almost as if the juice was spoiled or something which threw me off, but it wasn’t terrible. The basket of assorted pastries was great. Breakfast was good too! The ranch was my favorite part . It was a good experience but not memorable enough to go back.
Don Casey
Great food and service. Wait was well worth the time!
Alison Mann
Hannah was a complete rock star!!
The super cool chic's behind the bar hooked us up with great bloodies, amazing food and some fabulous suggestions on where to go while we were in Nashville. Highly recommend!!
Gerald Ferguson
This was a gem find. It was reccommended to me by Frank when he visited the restaurant where I work. Interior is absolutely gorgeous. Staff was extremely friendly. Was suprised at how quiet the kitchen was despite being an open kitchen. And that poblano corn gravy ?!?!?! I wanted to fill a swimming pool with it and dive it because it simply is that amazing. I will definitely be back for another go around.
Ashley Reichmann
We had BMR cater our wedding morning get ready and they were so great! We ordered food for 20+ people and they made it so special and organized everything for us! Needless to say the food was incredible and people are still raving about it!
Matthew Ellstrom
Awesome Breakfast/brunch spot. The pastries are unique and creative and they have something on the menu for everyone. My favorite is the biscuit Benedict with house ham, the fried rice is awesome too.
Ashley Cates
Love!! Get the biscuits and gravy! I also had the corned beef hash and it some of the best corned beef I've had! As a local who tries to avoid most of 12 South, this is definitely a reason to go over there!
Danny
We had breakfast there. The pastries are to die for.... My girlfriend got some kind of mushrooms, grits and vegetable bowl. It was amazing!
Allison Radford
We saw this restaurant on the news and were very excited to try it. It did not disappoint! The restaurant itself is charming and we loved the decor. It's a busy place but we didn't wait long to be sat after signing up on their online waitlist. We had a really personable and great server, Kaitlyn, who recommended some dishes that were so good. We also had a couple cocktails that were very refreshing. We also got an iced latte and cookie. We loved the food and the whole experience. We drove almost an hour and it was worth it. We will be back and hopefully we can have Kaitlyn as our server again. Kudos to the owner and chef of this place!!
John Arkesteyn
MK our waitress was knowledgeable and helpful, service was great, food was absolutely delicious. 10/10 recommend!
Steve Betz
Do yourself a favor and get in here to eat breakfast/brunch . We stopped in on a whim, place is off the charts decorated up for Christmas - Very friendly staff , fast service, great food , I’d like to say eating here was like going to grandmas but honestly she couldn’t cook Croissants and pastries this good.
Peter Bedrosian
Croissant was so glossy :) great vibe, coffee and pasties. The LAX breakfast sandwich was really good and filling.
Estela Castillo
Beautiful place, great coffee, tasty food, nice servers. I definitely recommend this place.
Craig Stoltzfus
Had breakfast here 2 days in a row. Great and unique breakfast items. The croissants were a work of art. The pastries were great looking, but I did not order one. Hot chicken and waffles were very good. Sat AM was busier than Sun.
Coby McLaughlin
Phenomenal all the way around! Great service, atmosphere and food!! The eggs Benedict was bursting with flavor and played beautifully! Almost looked to good to eat…almost😉
Would highly recommend for a great brunch meal!
J. Andy Stiff
The management and owners are top notch. They know how to handle an issue and still deliver a 5-star experience. Spectacular food. And yes, if you’re a local, worth waiting an hour for.
Brooke Ramby
My favorite breakfast spot in Nashville! Great service and food every time!
Raymond Isbill
Definitely not for me. I'm more of a waffle house kind of person and there's not much for traditional breakfast items on the menu. Also a bit expensive but it is Nashville so....
Carly
The food and service were great! I ordered a pimento cheese and ham omelet. I chose the fruit as my side. One warning - some of the fruit in the cup was very old and my assumption is that it had gone bad. My blackberries and a few strawberry slices looked absolutely terrible. I imagine that they add fresh fruit to a container and scoop when someone orders it - but unfortunately my scoop must have been from the bottom.
Anyway, the omelet was wonderful, but the pastries were LIFE CHANGING. I'm not joking. I ordered a Vietnamese coffee croissant and a churro croissant - I had literal tears of joy leaving my body when I tried them both. I will also say that I purchased the pastries on a Thursday, put them in the fridge, and didn't eat them until late Friday evening. They were still delicious and not dry. I wish I lived in the Nashville area, because I would visit this place often just for their bakery items.
I will also say that the interior is very cute, clean, and inviting. Thanks for the great meal, Butter Milk Ranch!
T Jones
Incredible, friendly, flavorful, clean. What else do you want????
Chris Day
Great food, coffee tasted a little burnt. Very busy but we still got in and ate quickly. Would def go back!
Paulo Villamil
Big shout out to the host Bailey for accommodating my girlfriend and I impromptu birthday surprise! The manager also went above and beyond for us on a busy packed restaurant on a Saturday!
Emily Paisley
I was looking for a place to hold a ladies luncheon and as I was on the way to another location, I noticed BMR as drove down 12th Ave. I was impressed with its curb appeal, so I turned around and walked in. I loved the decor and ambiance of BMR, the smell of the bakery and food being prepared was also enticing! The hostess greeted me immediately with warmth and a smile. She gave me my requested menu to look over to see if BMR would have a good variety of options at an affordable price point. At this point, I was sold sold sold! I asked if I could speak to a manager about holding a luncheon there. Jennifer exited a staff meeting to address my request and concerns. She was more than hospitable, friendly, and eager to help me plan my lunch. The day of the lunch, Ari was assigned to our table and he honestly couldn’t have been more suited for our event. He was pleasantly personable (but didn’t make it all about him - that’s a thing), completely knowledgeable, and definitely efficient. I will ask for him every time I go in there from now on.
The food and cocktails were the prize! Every single person that attended the lunch could not say enough about their meal and experience. Note, it can get loud in the restaurant, so please keep that in mind. I am so thankful to have stumbled upon this yummy gem! Can’t wait to return. Thank you Jennifer, Ari and all the back of the house staff that created such a memorable experience!!!

Went on opening weekend! It is amazing food with a great staff! Can’t wait to go back it’s our new favorite breakfast spot!
Molly Lake
Wonderful brunch! Loved the crispy small size of the pancakes, the perfect side to the delicious kale and grits bowl I ordered. Will be back! Come hungry, the food is great.
Madison H. Dennis
Pros: food - could use more salt though (on everything); croissants and biscuits were outstanding; wish they served butter with the pastries.
Negatives:
Waiter attentativeness
We came here with two 3 year olds and instead of being quickly waited on, our waiter was hardly anywhere to to be found, and when we did see him, he was just chilling and chatting it up with other staff and not seeming to care that our kids were becoming restless by the minute and we needed attention. It took an hour and a half from the time we were seated to the time we were done, and that was entirely too long for a breakfast place. It should have been 45-60 minutes tops. Made for a very frustrating experience. It was also really hot & loud in there.
Overall would recommend if you enjoy a quality croissant. Probably better to just take your food to go.
Edwin Jacobson
Delicious food and the wait staff was great the entire time. The space was very well designed.
Lauren Kaplan
Delicious! The food was amazing; expertly prepared, high quality ingredients. And the restaurant is beautiful - bright and airy. The music is a little too loud, but I get it, it’s part of the mood. Get a table in the front room if you can.
Adair Macauley
Delicious !! We loved everything but especially the beignets
Debra K
Very nice establishment and environment … food excellent with vast array of choices and friendly staff. You will go home with pastries!
Jacob Pawelczyk
Stoped by for their pop-up Christmas bar the other night. Bartender was awesome and drinks were very good. We also had the Yule Log baked good and it was superb! The restaurant was tastefully decked out for Christmas. Great scene, will definitely come back to check out Breakfast!
Chessie
Love the place but they need to keep the fireplace on during cold days! Also as a Nashville native, I will warn you, it's not a big plate of Southern breakfast food so you gotta appreciate it for what it is (more Euro style - smaller sandwiches). Tastes great!
Dawn Luken
Loved the food here. Normal breakfast fare with a delicious twist. The food was fresh and they make everything in house. You must eat here when in Nashville!
Claire Cole
I might edit my review later since I plan to return to try the pastries and baked goods.
However, both sandwiches we ordered were a bit off. The ham on the Ham and Cheese was very salted and tasted almost like prosciutto, which is not what I expected and I didn’t like it very much. The ham just tasted like it was trying to be expensive and high end…if that makes sense. It is ham and cheese on a croissant, why does it need to taste different that what was advertised? The shakes were very good, but I think everything was too expensive for what we were given. I will return to try the baked goods since how can you go wrong with dessert? $50 for two mid-sized sandwiches and two shakes is way too much.

Sat at the bar today with family and Erica was our server. She was absolutely incredible, probably one of the best experiences with a server I’ve ever had; she’s was on it!! Loved the food and really enjoyed sitting at the bar, get the pancakes, they’re so good!

Awesome breakfast and lunch restaurant. Baked goods are insanely delicious. Best crossaint I ever had. Great service. If you go during peak hours expect a wait.
Annika Faucon
The Rueben croissant was amazing. So delicious, so filling and in very cute shop with a very cool vibe. The desserts also looked incredible, can’t wait to come back to try them!

I never write reviews but our experience here warranted one.
Food- Great food and drinks, no complaints there.
Stafff: We came with a party of 3, were seated quickly even while the place was obviously busy. Our waiter was running around working very hard bussing tables, taking orders and just seemed overwhelmed with the amount of tables he was responsible for. He was amazing, however, the management was horrendous. We witnessed multiple wait staff get scolded my management. One manager in particular (brown hair) was very rude, rolling her eyes and knit picking every little thing her wait staff was doing. We witnessed frustrations from several wait staff toward the management and believe they are working hard in an environment where the management is extremely disorganized and their expectations are unclear. Their prices did also not reflect what was on the menu. We were charged $4 for a croissant when on the menu it said $2 upcharge. Our waiter said that is the way management has them bill it. So again, a management issue. Wait staff work extremely hard and in this environment in particular they are under appreciated and poorly treated.

Polite staff & tasty croissant, however, $9 for a 3” x 3” (possibly smaller) sized sandwich is absurd. I got the Highbrow Appalachian
Steamed Farm Egg, Fennel Breakfast Sausage, Apple Butter and Smoked Cheddar Cheese.
The croissant itself is thick so I feel you get an actual croissant size, but the egg is a single and the sausage patty is nothing that will fill you up.
I’d still get it again if I truly wanted a croissant sandwich.

Great food and service. The waffles and smoked bacon were on point!
Ben Boyd
The food was great. My partner got steak and eggs and she loved the chimichurri sauces that came with it. The pancakes are huge and filling.
Clinton Stoll
Good vibes. Have gotten their pastries a few times and they're exquisite. Would like to try their breakfast food as well but I'm sure it's awesome.
Lawrence Avenue
Been a big fan since opening day this winter!
My opinion: It is the best brunch menu and space in Nashville.
Good food and they know what the f*ck they are doing at Butter Milk Ranch!
Daniel Jones
Amazing brekkie. Croissants too damn big, we were advised to get boxes by Cynthia, and she was right!
Cassi Patterson
Newer joint in 12 south. Good food but trendy

Wow, we got some of the breakfast sandwiches, a Ruben, and the cinnamon bun. ALL AMAZING. Arthur brought our food out and was very nice, I felt bad that we kept bugging him about grabbing a coffee refill, cream and sugar, and mustard. But he kept insisting on helping us. Thanks!
Brad Boyer
This place is great. Food is fantastic. Crowded for a weekend brunch.

Kiss (insert bakery here) goodbye!
Whatever it is, this place puts it to shame
I've had the chocolate filled croissant. And at first glance you're like: "Oh, it's just a boujee croissant, how good could it be??" but no....
It changed my life!
The only bad thing I could say about this place it makes me pretty depressed when I finish the last croissant. Oh the agony!!
But it's all better when I return to get my fix!
And Yes, it's better than 5 daughters...sorry you were my old fave 12 S bakery. Still 2nd place though
Sean Ray
Everything was incredible here. Food, service, pastries. Absolutely no notes. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Best cornbread I've had in years!! Get it with the hot chicken!
Allen Dennis
This is a beautiful space and nicely decorated. No staff were masked, which is a turn-off for us. The staff is friendly. We were disappointed with the (bacon^2)cube and croissant; the LAX salmon + pretzel croissant was the high point for us.
Rose Davis
Amazing food! Wonderful and kind staff and the most beautiful atmosphere!! Beautiful plants everywhere and the food tastes as incredible as it looks! Love coming here!

Cute place, super nice staff but definitely overpriced food. Croissants are good but not 5 stars and $10 good. A nice place to try once but probably won’t go back.

Love that you can add yourself to the brunch waitlist from your phone before you come. Really solid brunch/lunch spot!

Had the cornbread n hot chicken skillet, it rocked my taste buds, so moist so yummy so perfect.
Wilson Harwood
We were super excited to try this place, but we’re slightly underwhelmed. The atmosphere was great, but there were a few things that made it a three star experience. They overcharged me for my drink and food came out luke warm and kinda cold. It was tasty, but hard to get passed the cold food. I think they are just super busy and things fall through the cracks. Kinda expensive though for what you get. Ultimately, I don’t think I will be going back.
Morgan Loomis
Absolutely insane gluten free food.
Faleesha Gonzalez
Amazing experience
John Mehney
This is my first experience with an upscale restaurant and I have to say it was amazing. The kind staff and warm smiles made it a welcoming experience. The food was well prepared within view of our table. Great portion size and great flavors. You should try the pastries they are beyond good. We would Absolutely go again.
Jenny Shelton
Ari was amazing!!!!!
Angela Maston
Excellent staff, the food is always amazing, and they have numerous gluten-free items! I'm Celiac and appreciate the fact they have gluten-free cookies too haha! Trust me... order the Greyerre French Omelet. I know, I know "it seems too simple" but it was one of the best things I've ever had, and I'm a BIG foodie. Also, the chocolate chunk cookie is practically more chocolate chuncks than cookie, so go for it if you're gluten-free!

OK, OK, I realize that simply watching the Great British Baking Show does not make me an expert on pastries and patisserie, but it does help me understand what to look for. And WOW, The Butter Milk Ranch knows what the heck they're doing. It's not just that their croissants clearly don't come out of a tube like the ones I'd known my whole life (lookin' at you, Mr. or Ms. Pillsbury). Look - just looooook at the photos. Lamination FOR DAYSSSSS. If you know, you know. And now I know that my former "meh" attitude toward croissants (and I use that word very loosely here) was unfounded and naïve. I've been enlightened, and now I can never go back. Not that I'd want to. The Butter Milk Ranch has turned me into a croissant enthusiast. Keep doing what you're doing, y'all. It's amazing. Oh! And also, the cashier heard my sister mention it was my birthday, and when we got home I saw that she had added a candle to my chocolate peanutbutter cake. So sweet! Now that I think of it, I haven't even tried the dessert yet; we're still working our way through enough croissant to feed a small army. But I have zero doubts it's going to be amazing too.
TLDR: Go get you some croissants from this place. Like, now.
Zach and Jenna Hoggard
Everything we tried was absolutely amazing. Chanel waited on us and the service was perfect. The most surprising part of the meal was how amazing the pancakes were! We knew the croissants would be fantastic (and they definitely were), but the pancakes were so good! Worth the hour wait!
Brayan Contreras
The fresh pastries are absolutely amazing! Be sure you get there early, before they sell out. My recommendation is the twice baked almond, or best of all, the Babka Croissant. Their actual breakfast is good but not the best but again, the pastries and coffee make up for it
