What a neat experience! A 12 courses journey of the chef’s lived experiences. Ask for a high seat overlooking the kitchen so you can see all the action.
I enjoyed every bite because it felt like a chapter of a story unfolding dish by dish. Stand out heros of the night were the Dabeli, Apple-fennel salad, Grilled Cabbage, and Fioretto Cauliflower Biryani. I worry I will never again be able to find a Biryani that tastes this transformative. If I could I would order it by the bucket load. The whole meal was such an amazing experience. As you would expect the staff was generous and the service impeccable. The best elevated Indian dining experience I’ve had in North America. Also the chef is super friendly! What a magical experience.
PS - There were lots and lots of vegetarian options too!

This is my new favorite restaurant in town. The service was the best I’ve had anywhere, food was unforgettable and packed with flavor, and I had a smile on my face throughout this culinary experience. Do yourself a favor and put this one at the top of your list. Easiest five star review I’ve ever written. Would give this place a Michelin star if I could because it’s just THAT good.

Incredible.
The experience here is unequivocal. They are doing something inspired that you will not find anywhere else in Tennessee. The stories are always engaging and the flavors are inspired and intuitive.
It’s your fault if you don’t think this is the best meal you’ve had in the south.

What an incredible evening. From pre-dinner drinks in the living room to the dining room experience, every moment was memorable. The menu is creative and inspired by family recipes. The drink pairings are spot on. You leave the evening feeling like family. Bravo!
Ben Hoback
Beautiful new space. Special occasion mainstay. Get there early to hang out in entry bar area and don’t be afraid to ask Chef questions. On the rare occasion I don’t completely vibe with a dish, it is still well worth exploration… all very interesting combos and techniques.

Absolutely the best restaurant experience in Nashville. Each part of the meal is crafted with incredible skill and love, and the staff really make you feel welcomed into their home. The chef talked to everyone, had a conversation with us, took every effort to make sure they connected with us personally. Their passion was in every element of the dining experience.
Lisa Mayberry
Fantastic service, outstanding food, and creative menu. They made sure my gluten-free free needs were met from start to finish.

Top 3 dining experience in Nashville and still my favorite. Whenever someone asks for dinner recommendations for a unique experience in Nashville, Tailor is always my first suggestion. Whether you are new to a plated dinner experience or it’s an old hat, you will not be disappointed. The experience is just as good as the food. A very cozy environment and experience that feels like you are in the kitchen cooking with them. Wine pairings spot on as well. My celiac wife had absolutely no problem eating Gluten Free.
Kat Glazer Barrentine
Service was incredible. Food was delicious. The space is beautiful. Honestly one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. I love that Chef explains each course and the history or meaning behind it all. So special.
Christine Lopez
The food, drinks, and service were all amazing. The chef’s explanation and storytelling with the dishes was unlike any other dining experience. Every dish was incredible. Our new favorite Nashville restaurant!
Jill Kilgore
One of the best dining experiences I've ever had in Nashville. Took my fiance here for his 40th birthday. The dishes were spectacular.& full of flavor. Loved the stories from the chef. Felt like a giant dinner party. Loved it!
Khushboo Golyan
A rare concept in restaurants, this place is incredible and the experience you walk away with stays with you forever. They have pre-fixed seasonal menus and select time slots on when they serve.
Once you get in, it's like walking into someone's house for a dinner party, the warmth, and hospitality you are treated with are fascinating.
Beautiful space and great-looking appetizing food that is delicately served to you by the chef himself.
Would recommend it to all who are looking for such an elite experience.
Austin Bragdon
Top restaurant in Nashville, in my opinion. This is absolutely worth what you pay for to get this type of experience. The ambiance, the service, the chef, and of course the food is top notch. James Beard worthy.
Christopher Heberly
Vivek never disappoints. The food is always delicious and inventive, with a homey warmth and adventurous flavor pairings. Each dish is accompanied by a story that both explains the dish, its origins, and a little of himself throughout.
The staff are always friendly, attentive and helpful and the entire atmosphere feels like you're in someone's home being fed personal dishes.
During this pandemic the restaurant provided a safe environment by limiting the seats, cleaning surfaces and wearing masks where appropriate while also making the customers feel comfortable and at ease.
John Stephenson
The space, the food, and the hospitality are all stellar. This is one of the best dining experiences in Nashville bar none. Vivek and Heather have created something truly special. Go now!
Satchel Fowler
Amazing experience! The food was delicious, the cocktails were unique and tasty, and the atmosphere and service were excellent! Highly recommended!

Hands down THE best dining experience I have had in Nashville.
The first line sums up the entire experience for Tailor Nashville. My girlfriend and I went here for our Valentine's Day dinner, and I was a little nervous with them being so new, but it far surpassed all expectations I had. Reservations are required, they do not accept walk-ups. This is also a tasting menu so the menu is set and you do not actually order anything (unless you would like something from the bar).
THE ATMOSPHERE:
Tailor Nashville is located on the backside of Mop / Broom Mess hall and has it's own entrance down the alley, which automatically gives it a cool, secretive feel. The space itself is very intimate, only about 16 or so tables with soft lighting which really gives it a romantic, unique feel. The decor is simple yet elegant with the massive chandelier being the focal point of the room. All of the food is prepared in the open for every one to see. During each course the chef personally tells you the history of the dish and fun facts about the ingredients, without dragging it on and even making us laugh numerous times. Sometimes with tasting menus the chef can drag on about how good the food is and so on, but this is not the case at Tailor Nashville.
Everything is paid for upfront when you make your reservation online, which can understandably make some people nervous. As a nervous buyer myself, let me tell you we will be back again and again. Not having a single transaction take place while we were there was incredibly unique and also incredibly refreshing.
THE FOOD AND DRINK:
A beverage pairing is optional, and I do recommend taking an Uber/Lyft if you plan on purchasing that as you have a drink paired for 6 of the 8 courses. The pairings themselves are expertly selected and paired perfectly with each of the dishes.
I historically have not a huge fan of Indian-inspired food, but this place completely changed my mind. This was like nothing I had eaten before and it was totally delicious! Every dish flowed nicely into the next and had me wishing I had more and more of each dish (although we were completely stuffed by the time we left).
THE SERVICE:
There are a plethora of restaurants in Nashville with excellent service, but few are as exceptional as Tailor Nashville. We truly felt welcome and comfortable our entire meal. We were the first ones to show up for the 8:30pm slot and chatted with the incredibly friendly staff. They will have you a seat assigned before you show up, but they were happy to accommodate our request for a particular table. Even with the table change they knew our names and that we had the optional beverage pairing when we sat down.
At Tailor Nashville, you don't have one particular server, but the entire staff at the restaurant. Everyone tends to all the tables collectively and they work like a well-oiled machine in terms of fulfilling requests or any needs there are. I would not have guessed that they had only been open for 2 months. Another feature that stood out to me, and it may seem small, but the team that plated the food wore gloves while prepping each meal which was nice to see since everything is prepared out in the open.
Hands down the best part of the entire experience is the staff. They are incredibly professional, prompt, welcoming, and also down to Earth. Tailor Nashville is an upscale dining experience with a laid-back attitude, and the staff embodies that. If you truly want to get to know the staff, sit at the bar.
We cannot wait to go back :)

The experience was great but not worth $200 a person. Everything started to taste the same to me bc of seasonings. My expectations were very high and not met but restaurant is stunning and service great and my drink was excellent (sazerac). Chef charismatic. We had a fun eve but would not go back bc ultimately food disappointed especially for the heavy price tag.

Honestly one of the best meals I've ever had. Vivek does an amazing job blending southern hospitality and South-Asian cuisine. You can tell not only from the flavors and presentation that the food is made with care and love, but Vivek tells you of the inspiration behind each dish, often coming from his family or childhood.
Audra Lafayette
I had the most Beautiful. Wonderful experience at Taylor. I definitely will be back. The atmosphere, the crew, the food and definitely the restaurant. Just Beautiful.
Matthew Rogers
100% 5 stars. What an exquisite experience. Vivek has crafted a masterful experience combining story telling and family dishes (with a twist of course). Space is very limited and you must book in advance. This is a perfect place for romantic nights or celebrations with friends and family. Each week is different, so you never know what you'll be getting but I assure you it will be terrific. If you are vegan or vegetarian, they will be happy to accommodate your dietary restrictions.

Indian tapas. Attractive and educative presentation, warm and lovely ambience. Suitably good service.
I call it "tapas" because portions were small and shared. I enjoyed trying the new tastes, but The Hubs, AKA my husband, found the food to be bland.
I enjoyed the drink package, but, if you have strong drink preferences, like The Hubs, don't buy the bev pack. Generous pours of something you don't like is just unnecessary.
Dinner is purchased as a couple, while wine flight is purchased individually. Whether single or couple, with tax and tip, the unique experience will set you back $155, or $275 with bev pack for two.
Jenise Pratt
Excellent & unique experience, great stories, and great service. Everything was so well balanced and a great blend of Vivek's family history to his current memories.
Teresa Benson
Dinner and a show. The best dining experience in Nashville. The chef and his team work together and exceeded my expectations. Looking forward to the new fall menu.
Amber Gardner
Super authentic Indian food with a cozy atmosphere. The drink pairings were unique, and the experience was a foodie paradise. We'll be back!
Nathan Gundy
Chef Vivek hosted a wonderful dinner, felt like I was at a friends place! Can't wait to go back! Beverage pairing was on point! Mom was correct can't be desert without chocolate!
Anthony James
One of the best dining experiences my wife and I have ever had. The combination of the chef coming out and describing the dishes and the brilliance of the flavor profiles, made for a very memorable evening. We will for sure be back.
Joby George
Amazing food, and an amazing experience. The owner shared why he chose each course and tied it to his past or its roots in India. Definitely an experience you have to try
Sam Maddula
the food was absolutely beyond amazing, hands-down the best “Indian” restaurant I’ve ever been to. I use the word Indian loosely, because it’s fusion, of Indian food (grabbing the Indian taste without being typical ), absolutely magical, the chef comes and gives you a story about each meal. It has all the makings and feel of a three Michelin star restaurant.
From the time you walk in until the time you leave, you feel like you are at the chefs house, like you are his family, being taken care of with warmth and love
If there’s any gripe I had it would be that the price is too low, the food and service were beyond our wildest expectations

Tailor met the mark for a special dinner with great food, service, and atmosphere. We were there in August, 2020 and my favorite dishes were the beets, potatoes, salmon, and duck breast. The chef told us about each plate and there is no chance I will ever prepare any of these dishes at home. The dishes are unique in flavor, complexity, preparation, and ingredients. There was more than enough food to leave me full and the two young men with us said at the end 'I was afraid there wouldn't be enough food, but I'm stuffed' - so don't worry about the small portions - there are many courses.
Billy Hadley
My wife and I are foodies. We have waited two years to come to Tailor. The venue is great and the service staff is great. It could be so much better if the staff would dress stylish. One would expect fashionable at a dining experience such as this. Not so. The food was OK at best. Every Course it was extremely spicy
Mariel van Tatenhove
Wonderful food experience. Fixed menu where east meets west with dishes that are a fusion of American and Indian.

What an incredible evening! I think Heather manages the front of the house, and she was extremely accommodating due to a loss in the family on my girlfriend's side. I couldn't be more grateful to her and the restaurant for their help. When we visited this past weekend, myself and everyone in our party was blown away! The flavors, wine pairings, service, ambiance, etc, etc, etc was absolutely perfect! The atmosphere was very welcoming and unpretentious and we loved Chef Vivek's explanation of each dish. The price was more than reasonable and we finished without feeling overly stuffed or hungry. There is so much thought that goes into each course and each pairing and the execution shines when left with the experience. I will definitely be back.

Our experience was very much in line with their intent to provide a meal and atmosphere that feels like going to a Gujarati/ southern American home for supper. The food was thoughtfully curated and well made. The sweet potatoes, the salmon in dal, the cocktails (especially the fruit tea punch), the stories, and a couple of the servers were extraordinary. As with other reviews, I could nitpick and say the wine pairings and the overall service could have some room to grow. But for my taste, I think the quality of the food and home-like dining experience make up for that.
Kelly Heyen
It’s way more than just a nice meal— Tailor is about the whole experience. The evening felt like one big exclusive-yet-approachable dinner party. We absolutely loved learning more about the food and the concept behind the restaurant— the chef came out before each course to talk about the dishes, and it made for a really unique and special experience! I love the way it made me more mindful of and excited about what I was eating. And the food was fabulous! We did this for my birthday, and it made for such a fun celebration!
Michelle Bergey
Absolute fabulous restaurant in all aspects: food, drink, atmosphere, and overall experience! The dinner was very intimate and engaging, and chatting with the chef and staff was definitely the highlight. The food was incredible and I was more than stuffed by the end. By far the best meal I had during my time in Nashville. If you are looking for a unique and delicious dining experience, I can't recommend Tailor enough. (Tip: sit at the bar)

I don't even know what to say other than it is truely amazing, life changing!... even if you are really into food and have eaten at restaurants all over the country. I wish i had pictures, i was too busy being in awe every time i took a bite.
The drink pairings were on point! They went with everything so well! They do need to put more wine in the glasses though. Even with small sips there wasn't enough for the entire course most of the time. That said i will definitely do the drink pairings again... just maybe talk to the host about a top off here or there 😁
I felt like family... no i felt like i knew his family and they invited me into their lives for an evening. Utter perfection. It was my 10th wedding anniversary and it was so wonderful to have flavors that my wife and i had never dreamed of having. We are going to come back to Tailors every season. We never want to miss another of this chef's creations ever again. We are also going to come back for this menu... again life changing!
Blerta Selden
The food is excellent and beautifully plated. The chef comes to your table and explains every dish and the story behind it. He thoughtfully experiments with flavors from his Indian background to create one of kind dishes. The ingredients are locally sourced and the menu changes with availability of the ingredients. The food and experience is one of kind in Nashville. Looking forward to the new menus Chef Vivek will create for us.
Casey Bond
Stop thinking/reading about booking a reservation here and just do it! Worth every penny and it’s more of an experience than it is a “reservation.” You learn about every dish directly from the chef (Vivek) who has interesting and witty stories to share about each dish and why they have meaning. Not to mention they taste amazing. Best meal we have had in Nashville and we do quite a bit of “tasting around town.” Enjoy it!
Darragh McNicholas
Tailor does an excellent job. Vivek Surti somehow ties together the best parts of a dinner party and a fine dining restaurant. The staff is warm, knowledgable, and generous, and the courses are a balanced mix of impressively decadent and perfectly simple. Their dal is one of the best dishes I've had anywhere.
Eddielicious M
Chef Vivek gives an oral history of each course being presented which is nice for us who are not familiar with Indian food and geography. And he is highly entertaining, he should do a podcast.
The food is delicious and served omakase style. Even if you don’t think you like “Indian” food you will enjoy this.
The downsides are you better be really comfortable with your dining partner because each course is served on one plate/bowl so your are sharing it. Like shared soup in one bowl? So prob not a good place for a business meal
And if you are a big eater you will leave hungry. But it’s $60 for like 7 courses so not unfair. The super delicious roasted squash course could’ve been a little larger (you got about 2 tablespoons here) and not cut into profit margin much.
Dave Thomas
It is an experience you will remember. The menu is a tasting menu style, they refer to it as dinner. The quality and flavors are very good and unique. The Chef tells a story with each of the 5 courses. You should definitely get alcohol pairings with your meal, they are well thought out and generous. This was our first but it won't be our last visit.
Allison Fox
$60 is not bad for a tasting menu in Nashville, but I was nervous after trying the popcorn waiting for us at our table because it didn't have a lot of flavor and tasted a little stale (I'm sure that just depends on the day you get the popcorn and whether you get a good, flavorful scoop). Every other course made up for it. As of February the menu hasn't changed since it opened (good idea to try and get the logistics of a new restaurant perfected before switching everything up!), but it was so good that we would come back for the same menu. We were glad we didn't get the pairing, mainly because we don't love white wine which there seemed to be at least a couple of the pairings. Regular drink menu was sufficient for us! If you want to interact personally with the chef/sous chefs, sit at the bar, otherwise just listen to the chef between each course for regular dining!
Thomas Johnson
Underwhelming. The food was good, the ambiance was nice, but the night we went was missing the spectacle and story, as the chef was out sick.
I'd been looking forward to hearing the origin of each dish, but with him missing the meal felt like a key ingredient was left out. The food on it's own didn't merit the hype or price. With him there it might have been a different outcome. Not sure I'll go back to see.
Also, be aware that every dish is shared between 2 people, so portion size is smaller than pictures imply. You'll get fed, but don't expect to leave feeling full.
Lewis Walker
I'm having trouble remembering the last time I had a dining experience this exceptional. The food is hands down remarkable and will be a meal I remember for decades! Vivek Surti serves up incredible twists on his families traditional west Indian fare. You will not be disappointed.
Kyle Caswell
Absolutely love this place. They always have a menu that will subtly knock your socks off, and it's such a cool experience where the chef comes over to spend time to chat. It gave us a chance to pick his brain about cooking techniques, etc. They also have very reasonably priced top notch bourbon. Weller 12, Stagg Jr., and Stagg BTAC were all available at under $20/pour, I believe.
Josh Miller
Had an opportunity to dine here previously and loved it. You could tell the love and care that went into each dish. Chef Vivek Surti even added the origin and meaning behind each dish which really transported you there. You should go if you haven't had an opportunity to dine at this multi-course, intimate dinner party.
Sagar and Sheena
Great food, ambiance, and personable chef! Have been to the VEA supper clubs over the past few years, but head chef Vivek Surti has outdone himself with this experience! He has done a great job merging traditional recipes with his own eclectic experiences to produce a one-of-a-kind restaurant. His Southern-Indian fusion theme is successfully achieved with multiple tasty dishes, utilizing fresh produce from local sources.
FYI - this is not a normal sit-down restaurant experience. He has two dining times per evening, and every minute of it is well utilized. Vivek has created an intimate environment, where you feel like you are at a formal dinner party. Not only is the presentation beautiful, but he does a fantastic job explaining the inspiration behind many of his dishes and the tasting menu is so much fun!
BTW, he extremely accommodating with dietary restrictions, cooking separate dishes in advance. If you have any concerns regarding any of the dishes, you should write them in when you are booking online.
Jon Treadon
Truely a one of a kind dining experience in Nashville. The food is an extension of chefs family and you feel like part of it throughout the whole dinner. His personal stories behind each dish are fascinating and make each service unique.
Kenny Tao
Epitome of Nashville dining in that it is overhyped and, at times, underdelivered. The dinner party theme is novel and interesting, but the stories seem somewhat contrived. Some highlights of the night were the chicken skin cracker on the fenugreek chicken breast (although you can tell it was probably made several days ago), chicken biryani, and fall squash. Much of the remaining menu items were forgettable and, oddly, served room temperature at best (maybe something to do with the heat being off that night?). Service was inconsistent with some giving us detailed description of the dishes while others dropped off plates with a brisk “biryani” before hurrying away. There are certainly some kinks that I would have expected to have been worked out after 11 months of operation.
Prina Maines
Every detail at this resteraunt has been thoughtfully selected by the chef and this attention shines through as he gives information about how each dish is prepared, the inspiration behind each dish. Not to mention the space is absolutely beautiful, the massive chandelier is on of the biggest I’ve ever seen. Tailor Nashville has moved to the top of our dining list!
JD Maines
This is a chef’s table dining experience. You can not compare this to your grandpa’s steakhouse. A culinary expert takes you on a tour de force that will change the way you view the dining out experience. The food is 5 stars prepared by Nashville’s best up and coming young chef Vivek Surti. If you want plain and ordinary go somewhere else. If you want something amazing and different, go to Tailor.
j phillips
Intimate setting with awesome food. Great concept where the chef/owner relays the personal story of each dish as it is delivered. Terrific service and interesting to see the direction that Indian food can take.
Reed Williams
Chef Vivek makes really genuine food. I wouldn't even call it fusion cuisine because I feel like that implies a certain intention, a certain winking at the concept. Instead, despite some very conceptual dishes, the food at Tailor never felt overly cerebral; it was a meal straight from the heart. You leave the restaurant at the end of the evening feeling like family.
Brooke Elliott
Unique, delicious, a curated meal like nothing I’ve had before. Definitely add the wine pairings as they all fit perfectly. The hospitality and service are warm and welcoming.
Chase Nelson
This is a great introduction to course meals that aren't the typical American or French we have so much of in the US. I enjoyed all the courses we tried but none stood out as anything world changing. If I was from the area I would consider coming back frequently, it's very good.
Michael Shull
This was, hands down, the best dining experience I've head in my entire life. You pay when you make the reservation, so all you have do is walk in and eat. Every course is explained in detail and the service is phenomenal.
Chris
The food was excellent and the ambiance was lovely. I thought the service was some of the best I have had in Nashville. In the overcrowded Nashville dining scene Tailor really stands out as a unique experience.
Elisa Cantero
Mediocre food, and even worse service. Overpriced for what you get (particularly if you pay for pairing - only two decent options out of the bunch). The chef's intent seems genuine, nostalgic and evocative but execution largely fails to deliver on the promise.
Cristina Plascencia
Incredible. The best food I have had in Nashville in such a long time and such a refreshing change from everything else. Please, do yourself a favor and eat here. There is no way I will ever miss a menu here again.
Esther Roskam
Food and course concept are very nice. People who say portions are small are not understanding a more European concept. Theme is warm and honey and drinks are delicious
Ananda Goswami
Very interesting Indian concept restaurant.
Nick Harris
Such an awesome experience - get the bar seats if you get them early enough. We loved every dish and can not wait until the menu changes to come back again!

The high ratings are merited. The presentation is part of the experience and the staff all welcoming and friendly. Every course served at the perfect temperature and texture. I wasn’t actually the biggest fan of the pork, but that is probably preference more than anything. The fruitcake and chai I’ll be dreaming of for years.
