Reviews of Nicky's Coal Fired
It was fine, but I have no desire to return. If you're in the area, I'd say a visit is worth it once. We drove from Hendersonville to check it out with some friends and felt it definitely wasn't worth the drive. If I did ever find myself back over there, the only thing worth ordering again would be the gnocchi. Other than that, it was mostly mediocre. Staff was great however.
Been wanting to come here for a while and finally have. Cheese sticks were good and marinara tasted unique, like it was homemade. Pizza was good but not great. One thing that disappointed me was my pizza was not. I feel like it sat out too long before it was brought to me. I ended up eating a few slices and and just taking the rest home where I can reheat it. Curious to try other things on the menu as they have more then just pizza. They dipping sauces garlic and the ranch were delicious!
Food was good but some how my order got "bumped" and had to wait over 45 minutes for on pizza. I'll have to give them another try. They did apologize and refunded my order and brought a tiramisu.
The pizzas are truly artisan; amazing crust and inventive creations.
I also enjoyed the spaghetti and gulf shrimp plate. Although there was plenty of seasoning (and garlic) the funk of the shrimp was still over-powering
Very cool atmosphere.
And Marshall was amazing in his service
...5 🌟 ➕ !! I've waited forever to get to Nicky's. Been following them on IG a while longing for the dishes they post especially the "coal fired pizza" and needless to say they did NOT disappoint... Celebrated the last day of 2021 with some clink clink drinks, the freshest of salads, fire roasted Olives, ummm yumm 😋 and the long awaited coal fired pizza- "Hey Paisano" (cappicola on the side please) drizzled w/ spicy honey ( oh Hello) OK ABSOLUTELY Ridiculously DELICIOUS!! Sitting under the Christmas lights and Tinsel garland I couldn't help but get a little misty eyed amidst the homemade Italian aromas and ambiance that took me back to South Philly- Simple pleasures are our greatest treasures and Nicky's in Nashville is just that! The Staff, The Chef & His Crew my goodness such awesome people making & serving scrumptious food with passion and love for their guests. IF you haven't, YOU must.. if you DON'T you are MISSING out on some of the most insanely freshly made fabulous Italian food one can indulge in ~ in Nashville, TN 👍👍👍👍👍THANK YOU Nicky's for the BEST NYE Dinner my Hound Brown & I shared with all of you #NashvilleLove 💜🤠💜
It was barely OK. Was expecting so much more from all reviews. Focaccia bread was burnt. I don't mean over cooked, it was burnt! The server laughed when she placed it on the table. When she brought the pizza we never saw her again. Had to go find someone to get us a box. Won't be back.
Man, can say enough good things about the pizza! Coming from Kansas we love trying new places in different cities! This is a must stop! I'll be back next time in March!
We got the gnocchi with beef, squash ravioli, and spinach-artichoke pizza. All of it was absolutely amazing. We couldn’t eat it fast enough. Wanted to order seconds of everything but all three of us were full. Service was ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ basically had 3 people waiting on us. Can’t wait to come back and bring more friends to enjoy it.
Really good food. Had the cheesy garlic bread and it was delicious. The meat balls and pizza were also amazing. Really neat atmosphere, laid back vibe. I’d definitely bring my girl here for a casual date. Triple D never disappoints
Great food and atmosphere ! Parking is very easy and Nicky’s is located in a great spot in the nations. We had the pepperoni and mushroom pizza, garlic bread, and the Italian salad. It was all so good ! Outdoor and indoor seating. We sat outside and had a great date night. Definitely will be back soon !
The food is great but I am not a huge fan of ordering and paying at the counter and then sitting down. When you do that, you can't really enjoy the full experience of ordering an appetizer, and then entrees. Also, if I wanted another drink, I couldn't get one because I already paid and servers weren't coming around to ask if you needed anything else. I had been there before a few years ago and the service was not like that.
Nicky's is one of my go-to spots for delicious pizza and pasta. The bolognese is probably my favorite pasta but they're all delicious. Tried the butternut squash agnolloti tonight and it was, although a small portion, rather amazing. The Aces high pizza is always hard for me not to get whenever I come in. 😅
Service is always great and the bartenders are knowledgeable and can make just about anything you could want.
Us North Easterners were surprised to find great Italian in Nashville. Coal fired pizza was great. Meat balls were tremendous and the Bolognese was terrific. The daily special caponata was one of the best we have had. Even the house red wine was good. Try the after dinner black walnut Nicino!!. All around very good experience.
Most amazing service for a party of 8 with no reservations! We were taken care of from the moment we got in line by Erinne E. She made our time waiting fill like no time at all. And once we were seated - wow - we got five star service! She went above and beyond to make our experience phenomenal! Thank you Erinne Edwards for a fabulous night🙌🏼!
Good pizza. Bizarre ordering requirements (example: you can't order a beer at the bar without creating an account and giving them your phone number)
Loved the happy hour special and the Thursday deals here. The pizza they make is with good quality ingredients and thoughtful combinations that work together.
Nicky’s Coal Fired has been a favorite of ours for a while, the food is great and the space is fun, even more so with their Saint Nicky’s decorations for the holidays. What is truly outstanding is the staff. They all have been great and seem to really care about everyone’s dining experience. Tonight, they truly shined. A huge shout out to Elliot, you made our night. Thank you!
Top dishes: Hey Paisano, Big Italian Salad, and the Bolognese.
My husband and I tried them out a few weeks ago on a Sunday night. It was early so there was no wait although it definitely was filling up by the time we left. We got drinks, shared a cheese plate, an order of the delicious roast vegetables (seriously try them, so good) and split a pizza (I can't remember the name but it had butternut squash on it) and gelato. Everything was so good and our waitress always great and very helpful with suggestions. We will definitely be back. Oh yeah and for all that before tip it was only $55.
Just went back today to try the spring pizzas and everything was 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 delicious. The date, Gorgonzola and pistachio pizza was amazing.
Amazing food! The drinks were very tasteful, all of the ingredients were fresh, friendly staff; everything someone would want in a restaurant. I sat in front of the prep station and watched the kitchen. From previously working in kitchens, i was very pleased on their cleanliness and attitudes, even under a filled dining area. 10/10. Definitely became a returning customer.
What a Nashville gem! The staff there made a great first impression and were happy and available to help throughout our entire dining experience, it didn't matter that it's casual service.
Everything we ate had so much flavor and love in every bite and we can't wait to go back. 100% recommend this to anyone living or visiting Nashville.
Thanks Nicky's team!
Nicky’s is an absolute gem. Their pizza is what their known for, but their pasta game is also amazing. Strong recommend. Love their whole menu and vibe!!!
We love Nicky’s!! The service is casual so you can come as you are, and then you are getting such high quality food, which is an amazing combo!
The staff is knowledgeable and super friendly, and we never felt like we couldn’t ask for help! This restaurant is a must and you can feel the love in every dish! Can’t wait to go back!
I had the Cheese Tortelli for dinner and it was amazing. The tomato sauce made me think of fresh tomatoes from the garden. I highly recommend this dish. Tiramisu for dessert is the perfect ending. Great food and great service. Will definitely be going back for this!
Went here for brunch. The pizza in a word: crisp. The crust was almost too crisp. Not sure if I’ve ever had pizza where the thin crust was that crisp. I guess that’s what will happen inside a 1000 degree oven. We had the margherita pizza, and the breakfast pizza. I liked the margherita. The breakfast pizza was a bit weird: it has potato on it, and I don’t think the potato works. It’s a little mushy and mealy at the same time. My suggestion: do crisp potatoes on it, like thin hash browns, or crisped cubes of potato.
The donuts with lemon marscapone were decent. Wish the dough was a bit softer and lighter.
The breakfast sandwich on brioche was good also. The bacon was nice and crisp, and the brioche was fluffy and light.
Service was fine.
Pizza is excellent and the service is great too. Their COVID protocol works well in that you order at the front as you enter and then pick a table. I’ve been a couple times now and the staff is always super friendly. The best part is I can walk here!
We decided to try Nicky’s pizza on a whim and lucky enough there were two seats at the bar, just as we like it.
The place was full otherwise and we recommend to make a reservation.
We enjoyed our cocktails, but not the draft Brightwood cider. It had a weird finish.
The appetizer was rather disappointing. We chose Pepperonata and Burrata. The bread was under baked.
For the main we chose Nicky’s supreme pizza, which was ok. It can use more sausage and less peppers.
The highlight of our dinner was a house made tiramisu aligned with a Guatemala espresso.
The staff was attentive. The bathroom relatively clean. The last can use a little something to put a cellphone or a purse on.
Overall, 4 stars for the dessert only.
This restaurant is a bagel shop during the morning hours on the weekend and it was absolutely fabulous! The bagel breakfast sandwich was so good and the quality of the ingredients is HIGH. If they do this good as a bagel shop, I have to believe their pizza is really good. I will definitely come back to try the pizza sometime!
So, Nicky's was fun. They had a minimalist, specialized menu which I appreciate at a restaurant. Their wait staff was bright and engaging. I ordered Nicky's Special, which was okay, but a tad too spicy for me. I'll try their pasta next time. I will say, their pizza crust is absolutely fantastic.
For dessert, I got their chocolate gelato with a shot of espresso. The espresso wasn't amazing, but it was great to dip the biscotti into.
The gelato, however, was the best thing I've ever put into my mouth. I mean that. It's the single greatest thing I have ever eaten. If you had told me the entire entire cost of the meal was what they charged for their gelato, I would remark that they could probably get away with charging more.
Don't sit at the bar because the brick oven is right there and you'll be sweltering throughout your meal.
Wow. Brick oven pizza and so much more. Came here on Saturday morning and was surprised at the brick offerings. We wanted to try their award winning pizza and was not disappointed. Definitely coming back to try more dishes!
Not super impressed with this place. The pizza was mediocre. Not bad but definitely better spots in Nashville. The decor was full Christmas which was fun. Service was a little off but giving grace with Covid. You stand around a table with menus to decide what you want, then order with host then sit. That process felt awkward and pressured to order quick so you can sit. I’m guessing it’s due to lack of servers though? Plates and cups got cleared before we were done instead of asking if we wanted more water or wine.
Had a very nice meal on a pretty busy Friday. Service was good. Focaccia bread was outstanding. Very light and baked perfectly. Also we really enjoyed the beef gnocchi and the shrimp pasta dish was good (pretty spicy). We would return.
Butternut Agnolotti was excellent. . . Very thin chewy yet crunchy pizza crust.
We had pizzas that were very tasty. One had honey with white sauce and the other was tomato sauce with crushed meatballs and the Thursday special is $10 pizzas which was a great deal. Loved the dining areas but you place your order as you come in which caused a bit of a wait. Overall, great experience.
Food is good, but pickup is always rough. This last time I saw my pizzas when I walked in. Host didn’t even bother to check and said they’re just not done. After waiting 10 mins, I walked over to kitchen area to see they were my pizzas. They weren’t busy when I entered, so there was no excuse while the host stood around. It isn’t the first time either over the past years, so maybe one day they’ll figure it out. Doing another hiatus in the hopes it gets better, but I have given way more than a second chance for this constant issue.
The food at this place is delicious. We had their big Italian salad and margarita pizza. I will have dreams about both of these dishes. They were amazing. I love the giardiniera they put in the salad. So unique and a game changer.
My husband and I visited this place on our trip to Nashville and it did not disappoint. We were pleasantly surprised to find out the owner is from Chicago, and as people with family in Chicago, it lived up to the delicious cuisine.
I waited patiently for this place to reopen because I was so hopeful...it was better than expected. The crust is superb. The sauce it tangy and hearty. And the flavors are just so on point. If you want a crispy pizza, get the St. Pasquale. All the others are delicious too but fresh mozzarella has a lot of moisture in it so it’s not as crisp. The big Italian salad is a must. I haven’t even tried their pasta yet and can’t wait to go back! Cocktails are on point. Go on a Thursday for 10 dollar pizzas but do expect them to be busy on this night...it’s worth the not very long wait.
Wasn't wildly impressed with the food, prices or service but it was okay. I enjoyed the atmosphere.
Bucking the trend. I was unimpressed. The pizza was limp and tasted more of burnt coal than of the "eclectic" toppings. The entire menu read of trendy flavors which would be wonderful if given a better overall rendering.
Delicious pizzas, and olive appetizer is also great. Beverages are poured right as well. Service could definitely be improved. Forgot one of our appetizers and, although it was comped, server largely avoided our table since his mistake. Therefore I never had the opportunity to order another drink to accompany my meal. Food is good.
Food was ok. Not really worth the price. My butternut squash was undercooked, along with my child's spaghetti. It's appealing from the outside.. maybe it was because we came close to closing I'm not sure? But I wouldn't really recommend this place.
The food was good. We had the oysters (very good), the meatballs (also very good), and a Pep It Up A Notch white pizza (not bad). Nothing was amazing but it was all quite good. They were out of salad which seemed a bit strange. The space is a cool converted hosiery factory. The star of the visit though was the staff. From the hostess to the waiter to the support staff, everybody was friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic about the restaurant. The incredible staff made the visit and we will definitely return.
The coal fired pizza was very good. The Margherita needs a little more cheese, but reminded me of some good coal fired pizzerias in New York City. The service was great and the place was very cozy. Home Alone was playing on a projection screen, American Ninja and a game on TV. Christmas lights hung throughout. The order and pay at the front desk before sitting was a bit strange.. Will definitely be back.
Always a great choice! We rarely frequent restaurants more than a couple of times, simply because there are so many great places in Nashville. But... this place is perfect for many occasions.
Great Pizza, fast service and food prep. Staff is very nice and helpful. Lots of interior seating and outside areas, clean and inviting. Highly recommend. Full bar and rotating beer selection from local breweries.
St. Pasquale and Aces High pizzas were really good; not so sure about the Coal Fired Olives.
Also not sure about the counter service format--seems to cause a confused line of people at the door with no natural way to order more drinks with the meal.
Service was very friendly.
Everything is super yummy. Any of their pizzas are highly recommended.
Excellent food, excellent service and lovely decor! My friends and I went for brunch on a Sunday right when they opened and there was no wait. If you're worried about having a table, you can book ahead of time on OpenTable. As far as brunch prices go, this place had reasonable ones. I had the pear salad and potatoes which were both delicious. My friends enjoyed the breakfast pizza as well.
Absolutely a perfect dining experience. We started with absolutely the best appetizer ever. The lardo, salami, and cheeses that absolutely delight and enlighten the pallet at the same time. The house wine was the ideal compliment to the meatballs with tomato marinara served alongside toasted bread. Then the main dish the wood fired pizza itself. It's delicately seasoned crust, with just the the right touch of sauce is delectable. It's the perfect night out,to be with family and or friends. Very highly recommended.
Good pizza, nice negroni and paper planes, and surprisingly good salads too! Very nice space.
The menu is small and is Pasta and Pizza. I usually find with small menu's food seems to be better. Our waiter was especially knowledgeable about every item that was listed on the menu. He was able to answer all my questions and concerns. I ordered a spaghetti that crushed tomatoes, ricotta cheese and oil olive. It was delicious. Not too overpowering. Every pizza that came out look awesome. We will definitely be going back to try one. This is not your olive garden or carrabba's. If you want Pasta or Pizza and want an elegant setting. You should come here. If you are looking for a menu that is a novel and cheap, this is probably not the place for you.
We have enjoyed Nicky’s several times. The pizza is good, but some of the other food is exceptional. We also had some great cocktails.
The place has a nice vibe with a very eclectic clientele. We were searching for great pizza...sad to find that they didn't offer many traditional flavors. We had the #2 white pie. It was good with a nice crust and it came out piping hot. We just expected something more after hearing the great reviews from friends.
As always, had a fantastic meal. The Focaccia bread is the best I've ever eaten. Four of us shared 2 pizzas and 2 pastas,...all 4 were outstanding. No reason for me to recommend specific menu items...anything you order will be delicious. AND...always great service.
The service was phenomenal and the green bean and corn appetizer was very tasty. I thought the gnocchi portion was very small and not that flavorful. We ordered a white and red pizza and thought both were good and probably would be our 3rd/4th ranked pizza place that we have tried in Nashville so far. I though overall it was pretty good but not as amazing as some of the recommendations we heard about the place.
UPDATE: we decided to head back to Nicky’s tonight for some more deliciousness. I tried to make a reservation online, but it said they didn’t have anything. We decided to go anyways and walk in. Well, they could not seat us. However, we decided to go sit next door at Southern Grist and had Nicky’s bring our order over to us. They were so kind to do so! Almost other restaurants would have sent us on our way, but the manager (Caroline) and staff at the front of the house went above and beyond for us. We truly appreciate too, as we came up from Franklin because he had HUGE cravings.
ORIGINAL POST:
I rarely bother to take the time to write reviews unless I feel passionately one way or the other. Let me just say....Wow!!!! I’ve left my review in three different spots. You are officially my new favorite Italian and pizza spot! Everything was outstanding! My kids (who dislike meatballs) wanted to try the ones we ordered. They devoured them! The pizzas were fabulous too! Everything was primo. Thank you for a warms and wonderful experience on a chilly, dreary day. We’ll be back very soon. ❤️
This was a great place. It wasn't too loud, even though it was fairly crowded. It's nice that they take reservations. The cocktails were excellent. The food was great. I had the Lamb from Porter Road (a local butcher shop) cooked in the coal fired oven. It was cooked perfectly - mid rare - without asking.
The surprise of the night was the Focaccia appetizer. Usually, this is a soft, okay thing at an Italian restaurant. Here it was exceptional. I guess they use the oven for it, and it makes it a little crispy on top and still perfect in the middle. It was a great start to the meal.
The pasta was good. I didn't have a pizza, but will definitely go back. They have a traditional bar with TVs if you're looking for a way to start your evening...
One of the most authentic Italian restaurant I have ever visited in the US! I wasn’t a huge fan of the pizza- as i prefer it to be more Neapolitan, but it was still delicious! From the giardinieri on the pizza and salad, to the wine glasses... I was very happy to dine here as a third generation Italian.
I had a perfect experience at Nicky’s Coal Fired! 10/10 for both service and food. The employees were all very kind and quick to bring out our drinks and food. We had appetizers, pizza, entrees, and dessert: all of it was incredibly tasty. If you have never had coal fired pizza before, then let me warn you that your pizza WILL have black spots on it. As long as you like that taste/flavor, you will love the pizza. I found it to be just as good - if not better - than the other Nashville pizza places that serve pizza this way. I highly recommend eating here and will definitely be back soon!
The food and the staff were delightful. A really chill environment, never felt rushed. Had a really unique daily special pizza that Incorporated all the components of a southern country ham/Thanksgiving meal but somehow wasn't overwhelming and turned out to be really yummy!
Loved the rosemary-sesame FOCACCIA, the sorghum butter was amazing and I could eat it by the spoon full. Keep the butter for your left over crust from your pizza. We also had the Pep it up a notch and it was delicious we had zero left overs. They even have a vegan friendly pizza thay my sister enjoyed. To top it off their drink menu is awesome. If you are a Bravo fan you will notice it right off the bat! The service was also outstanding.
The pizza here was excellent. We had a white pizza with sausage and ricotta I can't wait to come back and have again & service extraordinary despite them being busy. The owner made sure to chat with our table & even apologized for a table of rude customers near us who left. This place is delicious and affordable. Will definitely be coming back.
We had a 40 minute wait (party of 2) so we sat at the pizza bar top area. Food was delicious but the service was bad. It seemed like no one cared we were there at all.
Update: We went back for another effort. This time we sat at a table and got the full dining experience. I guess this place is just not for me. I have no idea how it's on so many Nashville lists. I'm leaving my review at a 3/5 but I feel like it could be lower since I have zero interest in going back. For what it's worth, the server this time was awesome, it was the pizza that disappointed.
Reminds me of a modern take on the original dine in Pizza Hut. The food was good. The service is weird, but likely more due to Covid.
Good place to grab a beer and a slice
Marshall is the best bartender in the house and will always steer you in the right direction. Jeffrey is the pizza maker you want making your pie!! We love Nicky's, be sure to ask for suggestions from Marshall, he's usually at the bar.
One of our favorite neighborhood spots! We always enjoy coming to Nicky’s (so much so that we’re holding our wedding there next year). Food is tasty, staff is wonderful, and it has a great ambiance. Their happy hour and brunch are what we frequent most. That brunch pizza can’t be beat!
Very noisy. The appetizer are pricy for an extremely small amount. Our waiter mentioned the special and my husband ordered it. He brought out everyone else's food but not his. He never placed the order so we had to wait another 20 minutes. The pizza tasted good but was soggy in the middle. I love that the food is locally sourced but there are many kinks that need to be worked out for the price.
It's a good restaurant and I'm willing to come back and try it again but I was expecting more. The charcuterie was tiny but very flavorful. Pizza was extremely thin crust but had great consistency throughout the whole pie, definitely my favorite part . The toppings were great but sparse. The server was the shining star of the evening. She wasextremely knowledgeable about the restaurant and menu. She is the reason I will give this spot another shot because any restaurant that has a trained wait staff is a place that is headed in the right direction.
We were greeted and seated warmly & quickly by Jeffrey. Chase was an excellent and helpful server. We had the focaccia, apple salad, pasta with clams & risotto. Everything was well timed & presented, fresh & delicious. We'll definitely be back to try their pizza.
Nicky's is fun spacious and well run. During COVID, we ordered as we arrived and then picked a table. The coal fired pizza is very good and crisp. The big Italian salad was very nice for a group. Wine by the glass or liter was good. We chose gelato for dessert, very nice. Prices are moderate and safety of everyone is paramount.
Everything about this business is just the absolute best. The food is incredible; the love for supporting the community through small farm and seasonal product purchasing, the warm and inviting staff, and the most loving, hard working small business owners make this restaurant a Nashville staple and one that will leave you feeling wonderfully satisfied in so many different ways. Thank you to the entire Nicky's family for giving our community such a gem! 💗
Excellent service, great drinks, absolutely delicious food. They had some great seasonal items in their appetizers and desserts (charred snow peas, meyer lemon cheesecake with strawberries). For me, this was the best pasta I've had in Nashville (Rabbit Sausage Campanelle in this case) and the pizza was a terrific representation of its style with a thin sourdough crust quickly cooked by a (obviously) coal fired oven.
This was a great restaurant in every way.
Cool spot. Unique way of doing things but the food was great and staff super friendly.
Oh my god. We tried this place out for the first time tonight and sat at the bar. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable, offering welcome suggestions from the menu. We tried the pea shoot salad, kale salad, focaccia, and the aged cheese. My husband also tried a pizza and the dry-aged pork. Everything was spectacular.
A great dinner option on the west side. Delicious Italian food and a good drink selection. Prices are a little high for the portions. They have rotating menu, but if the rosse pizza with onions and hot honey is on the menu, get it!!
Saw this place on DDD. Great pizza and butternut squash ravioli. Sat at the bar for full service, which was fast! Will def visit again next time I'm in Nashville.
Thumbs up on all counts: great atmosphere, service and food. We had the 'daily market white' pizza, which was delicious -- good thin crust, subtle blend of flavors. Yummy. Will definitely go back.
Got the potato white pizza. It was ok. The green on it tasted like parsley which was not listed on the menu.
Came here August 2021. Had a really disappointing experience one night (bad service and food) but was invited back a couple weeks later for a second try. I returned to give it another shot, and my 2nd experience was much much better!!!! I will return. & I respect the restaurant a lot for inviting me back for another meal.
I mean wow. THIS is real Italian pizza. Seriously delicious crust and sauce, not to mention the fresh toppings. The asparagus is so good that we usually get two orders to start. Also a great place to sit at the bar and watch the chefs create these masterpieces!
We had a wonderful experience and the good was great.
I have been here several times. As a local one of my favorite places to eat. The food is awesome and the staff are super friendly and service is always top notch!! There pizza is the best in Nashville IMHO, but really all their foods are awesome!!
Nicky’s makes me proud to live on the West side. We have so many great restaurants popping up, and this is one of them! The pizza is our absolute favorite. The classics are done perfectly, but they also have amazing specials if you want pizza that’s a little more adventurous.
Best pizza I've ever had! Staff made anniversary accommodations, and the night a success! Drinks were below average, service and food made it 5 stars. Highly recommended!
Really good pizza, especially the Gluten-free crust.
Great pizza, pasta, and drinks! Go on Tuesdays for their half price pizza menu! It's so freaking good
Always a great time! The team is friendly and provides great service. The pizza is cooked to perfection! Enjoy the wine on tap and keep going back to try out the whole menu.
We worked with Nicky's for our Rehearsal Dinner for our wedding. We couldn't have had a more incredible turn out and a better staff to make us feel more at home. First off, the venue is incredible by itself, the cocktails and food were absolutely perfect and they went out of their way to make sure we were fully accommodated to do what we needed to for the rehearsal. You certainly have customers for life with us, thank you for everything and keep that pizza (and cocktails) coming!

My friends and I were in the mood for some pizza the other night, so we decided to hit up this nice neighborhood joint. Brussel sprouts were delicious and the daily pie was amazing; it really hit the spot. Great job guys!
Another great dining experience in the Nashville! I had Mama G's Meatballs with Fusilli, and Pear Sorbetto for dessert. Absolutely excellent! My date had the Red Snapper with shredded Brussel sprouts and it was sublime! Service was also excellent! Limited Gluten free options, but the Snapper really made up for it.
If you're hungry enough you can definitely take on a whole pizza, they have traditional options and some that are definitely out there. Both are excellent. Service can be a little slow, and the cocktails are definitely on the pricey side.
wow! awesome food and dining experience. super fresh ingredients and the pizza was so thin and crispy...wish we had ordered more than one! the charred broccoli starter is a must. we also had a white pizza and the heirloom tomato bucatini...spectacular. our server josh was so personable and added so much to the overall experience. we live in charlotte and can’t wait to come back to nashville and nicky’s coal fired! don’t miss this little gem off the beaten path!
The Pizza is great, but the pasta and the meatballs are severely overpriced. I ordered meatballs and got 4 of them for $15 whereas the other person got 5 meatballs and pasta for $20. Prices throughout the menu could use tweaking (reduction).
The cocktails here are incredible. We split a pizza, because we weren't that hungry, but if we go back I'll probably get one just for myself. We enjoyed sitting at a high top and watching the kitchen work!
Food was great, but our appetiser arrived 20min after we ordered then we got our drinks. The manager/owner came over and told us and the server the first and second round of drinks were on her, because of an issues with dishwasher not keeping up with bar glasses. The bill came and the second round was on the bill. I understand it's the second night open and the dishwasher could not keep up with the glasses, buy more glasses. Moreover do what you say and customers will be alot happier. Portions are small, get a lot of items for the table and share.
A bit expensive, but well worth it.
If you're dining with one other person, I recommend getting at least two appetizers and a pizza.
The duck casarecce is great. My friend thought it was salty, but I suppose that is a preferential aspect. The service and atmosphere is wonderful and I really enjoyed the adventurous drink selection. It's great to see a bar that doesn't just do the expected but strives to create and introduce their audience to something new.
Super delicious cocktail and even better pizza! This place is a hidden gem - especially with their Thursday deal - you can't beat $10 pizza!
Service was good. The pizzas we had were not great.. Crust was burnt...ugh
Some of the toppings were good but one was suppose to have bacon and I don't think there was a whole slice of bacon on the whole pizza.
Disappointed better places in Sylvan Park for pizza..
However meatballs were excellent !
Food was good, the service was good as well. We had some issues with the timeliness of our food coming out and the staff were so nice. They proactively comped our meals that were delayed and were very friendly. They had several tv's around the bar with various games on. There were several other places in the area that were very walk-able. Will go back and try it again.
Top notch pizza and amazing in house pasta would be enough for five stars but drink selection and friendly helpful staff knock this one out of the park. Just wish the portions were bigger on the pasta. Love the ambiance as well.
This is a very nice boutique pizza restaurant and much more. They serve 13 inch thin crust pizzas. The pepperoni and red onion pizza is delicious. Two people will easily take down one pizza, but if you have a large appetite then I suggest ordering two pizzas or an app or charcuterie platter. That's right, I said charcuterie. They have house made cured meats, local cheeses and antipasti as well as pizza. This place is medium-priced. It makes for a great casual but nice date night.
Great ambience, service and food. Catch of the day - red snapper- was delectable! Buonisimo!
We went for the feast of the seven fishes - a seven course meal. It was superb, with amazing flavors, presented by an excellent server, who was unobtrusive but always kept an eye out. The meal was wonderful.
Awesome food. Very nice and pleasant venue. Great value and it seems like many people felt this way as the line to get in was fairly long.
We really enjoyed our visit to Nicky’s. Our table was decorated with confetti and a kind note wishing me a happy birthday. The service was excellent, the food was delicious and the drinks were on-point. We’ll definitely be back!
Great find...the pizza and dough were amazing.
Nicky's is the complete package. Every element of our meal was perfect. Firstly, the service was great. Very friendly and knowledgeable wait staff. The space is beautiful, and has lots of natural light. The coal fired oven, named Enrico, is impressive and visually appealing.
The drink menu offers a wide variety of beer, wine, and cocktails. I particularly enjoyed the frozen Fernet and Coke, which was a fun spin on a classic drink.
Food wise, we tried a bit of everything, and it was all tremendous. The pizza is obviously the star, with a wonderful, chewy crust and a wide variety of toppings in either a red or white base. My favorites were the the #2 White (seasonal mushrooms, spring onions, and riccota) well as the #3 Red (mortadella, olives, and mozzarella). All the cured meats and pastas are made in house, too. I highly recommend the Bucatini Nero, which is squid ink pasta with octopus, chiles, and capers. Seriously good stuff.
I'd be highly remiss not to mention dessert. The affogato (fresh espresso poured of gelato) was one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth, period.
Overall, I could not have been more pleased. Highly recommended.
Decent. Small portion and high price for artisan craft chef inspired pizza slices. Great for small person with vegetarian inspired appetite. Bad for man who is hungry.
Really enjoy their cocktails and pizza. Wine by the liter is nice when you're dining with more than 2 people. Excited for the warmer weather to try out their patio.
One of my favorite restaurants I’ve ever been to, not just in Nashville. Rustic Italian with some modern spins. The pasta is unrivaled.
Expensive for okay pizza and drinks (even if sodas) take forever to arrive. Sodas come in can, so no refills as a way to charge you more.
The atmosphere was amazing. Staff was top notch. And the food was unbeatable. Definitely worth going to.
Love Nicky’s. Great atmosphere, great service and great food. Ingredients are always fresh and flavorful. They also have a great wine selection!
If you've ever inhaled the soot while riding the train at Dollywood and wondered if it tastes even better than it smells, you should give this place a try.
Honestly, It wasn't bad. But when I heard 'coal fired' I was thinking Grimaldi's in New York City. Grimaldi's has the best pizza in the universe, so I probably had unrealistic expectations.
I’ve ordered some of everything from here. Pizza, appetizers, pasta and desserts. Everything was absolutely amazing every time. But especially the desserts. Probably the best in Nashville
Pizza was delish, appetizer of winter charred veggies was amazing.
Not really a vegetarian or food allergy kind of menu, but great crust and good proportion of toppings!
Just went I thought the pizza couldn’t get better... I tried the bagels. Perfect chewy/crispy ratio. Cream cheese has the right bite and creaminess. 10/10.
Local go to. We love Nicky’s !
The service was great. The pizza 🍕 was not as good as I hoped. I did enjoy the kale Cesar salad. …
It was a little pricey but love the pizze and very nice staff.
Nicky's Coal Fires is one of the coolest "hip" places on the west side. This Nations restaurant has great pizza, pasta, and desserts. One of my favorite things to order here is their gelato. They are located in the same building as Frothy Monkey on the corner of 51st and Centennial. The only thing I don't love about visiting Nicky's is trying to find parking. They share a lot with Frothy Monkey and parking during peak hours can be tough to find.
The staff was very nice. They were short handed, and we had a bit of a wait, but the staff went out of their way to make our visit better. Food was good, and the sticky bun was great!
Food was delicious all the way around--charcuterie plate, specialty pizzas, etc were fantastic. Really enjoyed the restaurant design as well. Will definitely make this a regular stop.
Pizza was ok, I've had New Heaven coal fired pizza so I guess my expectations were really high. The bread (not sure what it's called) that you can get for an appetizer was amazing.
Wow! Best pizza of its style I've had here. Really cool look on the inside. It was super crowded but it I did go at 7 pm on a Saturday.
Yes, made with cauliflower crust they have that here!
Delicious! We will definitely go back.
The pizzas are roughly personal size, which is a little eh for 18$, and a bit too soggy in the middle for takeout to work, but the taste is good.
This place is awesome. Waiter Dakota was very knowledgeable with all aspects of the food and drinks. We had pizza and it was incredible.
meal was great, service is minimal, wait was food was long but it was saturday night so that was forgivable. Id go back
THEY HAVE VEGAN OPTIONS! I have a dairy allergy and they were very accommodating. Had our company xmas party here. Waitstaff is very helpful and on their game.
Very good crisp and tangy sauce on the pizza, bagels were legit as well. Would definitely go again.
Nicky's Coal Fired is absolutely wonderful. I have been twice now and both times have had lovely experiences. The waitstaff is very friendly and the food is superb.
Fantastic appetizers and drinks, and great service, but I was extremely unimpressed with the pizza itself, which was largely lacking in actual sauce, cheese, or toppings. Let's call it the extreme end of "thin crust".
Great pizza! The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Neat bar. Good, newer place to try some pizza.
Amazing food! No reservations, you wait in line to order/get a table.
Exceeded our expectations and my girlfriend is from New York.
Everything we ordered was amazing! Great service and cozy atmosphere.
Excellent Pizza, Friendly Staff, Amazing Ambiance. Highly recommended. This is my favorite pizza in Nashville.
Excellent service, and delicious food! We had the Best Summer Ever pizza, along with a Margherita.
This place makes some great za! We got 3 and shared with the table. They were all very good, but the St. Pasquale was my favorite!
We sat at the pizza bar (you still get table service). It was fun watching them prepare the food and everything was fantastic quality.
Delicious, fresh ingredients! Friendly staff, great atmosphere, best pizza in Nashville
Amazing pizza. Amazing pasta. Amazing desserts. Definitely worth a visit.
Slightly upscale pizza restaurant. Fantastic pizza. Great drink menu. 'The Office' themed cocktails.
Really good, a little spendy but the food is high quality so I get it. Was a good volume level to have a baby with us at like 530 on a Thursday.
Great food and atmosphere!
Draft Peroni and cavatelli bolognese. Perfection. Probably the best Italian in Nashville in this transplant’s opinion.
Some of the best pizza in town. Great happy hour too.
Excellent food - more than just pizza, which was delicious though. Great service in a cool venue.
Had good food, and the service was nice, but wait time for food was through the roof. Love this place but they need a little more time to get on their feet and know how to run the place.
Typical oven pizza with fast food service and restaurant pricing. A low on value experience.
Delicious!! Pasta was perfect comfort food and the focaccia the best I’ve had
Great place!!! Excellent food and service. The quality of ingredients and the skillful cooking is a delight. Great for groups too!
Classy place with fantastic bartenders making some high quality cocktails. Pizza is also good.
Love the full on Christmas spirit!!
One of the best spots in The Nations.
Incredible experience!! Our server Jeffrey was so kind & knowledgeable & the food was delicious! HIGHLY recommend!
Great pizza! Just what I needed after a long week. Good beer selection too.
One of the best meals I have had in Nashville. The duck pasta was awesome.
Great food. High quality. I would recommend it to anyone. Modern take on classic Italian.
The Olives are to die for and the Pizza is Amazing
Great, new pizza place in the nations with "Italian style" pizzas. They serve food drinks as well.
Great service and great overall vibe. Pizza was pretty good but not great ....but I'm picky especially when it comes to pizza
Ive never eaten here but when i pick up side products they sell theyre always very ki d
The menu was not what we expected we were looking for more traditional Italian so we left and did not eat there.
Every dish is incredible, and the service is truly the best. Please come eat here!
You feel like family. Great service and would go back for the 'Hey Paisano' white pizza.
Best BLT I’ve had this year! Can’t wait to try the other bagels!
Coal fire Pizza is really good.. evry1 should try pizza it's real authentic
Everything was great except the pizza was burnt and had a strong coal taste
Great spot in Nashville off Broadway for some italian food. Go for the butternut squash ravioli.
Service was amazing. The menu was inventive, and local. The evening was wonderful
A wonderful dining experience. Pizza that you just won't find anywhere else.
Really delicious proper charred crust pizza
But their pricing is return prohibitive.
Very good for the items we had, but they had run out of a bunch of menu items.
Absolutely exquisite Italian cuisine and our service was phenomenal!
Good pizza , coolest place to hang out
Great food and atmosphere! We love the seasonal menu changes
Love this pizza. Never had a bad bite or drink
The food is good but portion sizes are small for the price.
Husband ordered the meatballs and I ordered a pizza. Both great!
Focaccia was insane. Absolutely incredible.
Beautiful, relaxed atmosphere with exemplary woodfired pizza options.
I am always a fan of going to Nicky's for dinner! The Nations is fun to explore too.
Best Restaurant in town. Attention to detail is impeccable. Service is outstanding.
I had heard these were the best 🥯 in town. They did not disappoint!! …
Cool addition to the neighborhood. Good food. Attentive servers. Try the butter bean salad.
Amazing food and service. Warm and welcoming atmosphere. A must do !
Very good Italian inspired (not authentic) plates but definitely overpriced.
Nice Quaint place, the Vegan Pizza is Delicious
Fun. Good location, but limited parking. Wish they were open for lunch.
Best pizza I have had in nashville
Really good pizza and great cocktails!
The ziti is FANTASTIC 🤗🤗 pretty quick service for how busy they were. Really friendly staff, too! …
Good food, but far too pricey for what you get.
Awesome food service beers and wines. Totally worth the price.

I went there after watching an episode of triple D. Their pizza is phenomenal, but I was a little disappointed with their meatballs....
(Translation) Very good but quite expensive.
(Original)
Très bon mais assez dispendieux.
