Reviews of Cock of the Walk
Ken Walden
The food is excellent! We like the fried catfish, fried chicken, and fried shrimp. The peanut oil provides a great flavor. The steaks are also delicious. The restaurant has a great atmosphere with a little water stream around the front with a small bridge to the porch. The wood-floors and wood-panels gives a relaxing vibe. AND the FAMOUSE HUGE rocking chair is a great place to make fun photos of family.

This place was a pretty cool visit!
If you haven’t been here before, try it. Be aware though the menu is pretty limited, but what you get should not disappoint. They use that good ketchup. Kind of a cowboy campground feel. The pie was fantastic.
Tony Gettler
We stopped in as a large group, about 30 folks, and they were able to accommodate us easily. We did stop in ahead of time to be sure and were gladly welcomed. They served up fried pickles that were awesome, fried catfish, chicken, and shrimp that were fantastic. There were raving reviews from the entire group.
I do have to add my appreciation of their honesty. On the front door is posted a sign that describes that they, like most other places, have a staff shortage. The sign says that the folks that did come in WANT to be there and deserve our appreciation and patience. I loved that sign because it's true...you ALWAYS catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

Nice family friendly restaurant! Food was hot and fresh. Our Waiter was really nice. The sweet tea was delicious. Will definitely be back !
Susan Clark
Limited menu yes, best pickled onions you’ll ever taste yes, flipping cornbread yes. Food was overall pretty good, a little pricey but most places are. Would go again but I don’t think it would be a place I would go to super often due to the limited options. I’m sure there are lots of other pretty good places around the area to try too
melissa glover
Great food. Limited menu but that was fine. The "fixins" were good and our server was great!
My Real Santa
The food was so delicious and generous portions. The catfish was some of the best I’ve ever had. The service and management were all so very nice. They are definitely on Santa’s “nice” list!!!
Nick Michael
The catfish was some of the best Ive ever had. I can't say the same about the the fries and hush puppies... The overall feeling of the restaurant is old and dated and you can tell an older clientele is what is going to be there.
The shrimp was pretty good but wished it had a little more with the order.
The men's bathroom smelled absolutely terrible.
Overall I didn't hate it but I'm definitely not planning to go back anytime soon.

My family and friends had a great dinner here this evening. My children aged 1 and 3 were great and really entertained by the fans, eatery and unique environment. Our server Kory G was fantastic. He was very kind, attentive, on point, knowledgeable and helpful. The food was really good as well as the fixins, sauces and sides. The price was reasonable and the plates were HUGE! We took home more food than we could eat there after all the bread, slaw, onions and beans. Only thing I would change would be the variety of menu items. The menu is very small with few choices although the available choices are good it's just very limited.

Hubs and I were in town doing some sightseeing and decided to stop here for dinner. First let me say USE EXTREME CAUTION when entering this business! It has 2 sets of double doors - I was struck by both sets from people exiting the building. The doors are solid, without windows, so no one knows your there. We got here around 7 pm for dinner. The host was ok, but did take me a few minutes to figure out where we were supposed to go to sign in. We did have a 20 minute wait so we went to the bar. The bartender was friendly and the bar area had a 100 health score. Never did see one for the dining area though so don’t know their score. Our waitress Ashley was just down right AWESOME! She greeted us with a big smile, and was vey professional. She is an expert! Now to the food. Once you are seated they bring out coleslaw, pickled onions and cornbread. For my part there was a little to much pepper in the coleslaw and I wasn’t really a fan of the pickled onions. The corn bread was very good even though a little toasty on the outside. I ordered the 12 oz sirloin med rear. It was perfectly cooked. Hubs had the Red Feather Sampler. We each shared our dinner with the other. The catfish, fried shrimp, and the fried chicken tenders were very good. My one drawback and reason for not giving a better score was the chairs. They are excellent to match the Restauraunt decor but they are not comfortable in any way , shape, or fashion! Made my back and legs very very sore! Hubs and I were to full to test out the deserts so hopefully someone else will review those.

I remember going to the location in Lafayette Louisiana frequently as a kid. The hush puppies are still delicious. The tin cups with perfectly sweetened ice tea are amazing. Lots of fond memories and delicious food even though my childhood location closed 30 years ago. Highly recommend.
Dominick Jeno DiMeola
They really do have the best practice that I've tasted in Nashville so far! They're hush puppies are really great also to skillet bread or skillet cornbread. Definitely try their onion ring and fried pickle combo appetizer it was very yummy. Everything is good about this place the only thing I would change was I wish their tartar sauce was a little bit different but other than that always fresh and always tasty
Amber Glaister
Absolute hidden gem!!
The food was incredible, it just kept getting better the more I ate.
The hush puppies were amazing and the homemade pie was beyond delicious.
I ate far too much but I just couldn’t stop it was that nice!!
And the staff were so friendly as well
Carolyn Donaldson
Old Nashville tradition. Delicious fried cat fish, home style cornbread and very tasty Cole slaw. The waiter flips the cornbread from a cast iron skillet and catches it. Just a nice little truck for entertainment. If you have to wait for a table, don't worry; it is worth the wait. Very tasty fare.
jason warren
Our service was great. We had Kory G. He was the most welcoming waiter we have had. Which we always have a great experience, he was the best though. Drinks stayed filled and he helped us make a decision that helped save us $$. He seemed to be a man who loved his job!! Food was great as always.
Lauren Ward
I loved the food here and the style of eating.
David Skater
Not what we were expecting but a pleasant surprise. Love that they brought out appetizers (cornbread, coleslaw and pickled onions) as you dont get that trearment everywhere anymore. Fried chicken was excellent! Service was excellent! Cost was less anticipated. Some things could use some updating but regardless still a 5 star in my opinion.
Silverado Roy
It was not the way I remembered. At one time this was a great place, with great food, and a fun environment. This time not so much. The service was pretty slow considering there were not alot of people in there. The food was ok. Not really worth the money. The fried pickles were basicly just batter and grease. Not much pickle. They used to be some of the best around. The beer was good and cold. I don't see myself returning if they even stay in business. It looked to be like it was on its way out.
michael mayer
This was a destination restaurant many years ago, so it hurts to see it so empty. The good: server was excellent and on top of things. Catfish, shrimp, and fried pickles all fresh and hot when it hit the table. Cornbread too. The bland: fried pickles and greens could've used more seasoning, fries and hush puppies were old on the same plate as the good catfish and shrimp. The bad: something in that lobby STINKS. If I'd never been before and the lobby odor was my first impression, I would've turned around and gone somewhere else.
Marc Lee
Southern cooking at its best! Tony was amazing!
Jimmy “Life” Ronsonet
Food was alright, bigger problem is lighting. Extremely poor lit parking lot, barely illuminated the walkway to the entry point and inside wasn't much better. I ate a steak that was tender but covered in black pepper. It was ok, like I said I did eat it but they got a little carried away with it. I'm Cajun, I love seasoning, so maybe that will help add some perspective.
Pearce Toney
Their catfish is soooo good and that tarter sauce is out of this world. The amount of an order of fries is equivalent to 30 large fries at Mc Donald’s. I NEVER eat coleslaw. I always push that away since I was a child. I actually HATE coleslaw. Someone said ..”taste it, just give it a try?”
I tried it: that was the best stuff I EVER had in my life. I had to take some of that home, and I’m about to go get some more right now. I thought the cornbread would’ve been better (maybe a little sweeter) but overall I still give this place 5 stars.
Link
Fun place to come if you enjoy fried catfish filets, fried shrimp, or cornbread flipped in an iron skillet for all to see! It used to be all you can eat! Their dinners also includes choice of potato, complimentary hush puppies and white beans. The cornbread is extra but I think it’s worth it!
Keith Landers
We went there for dinner with a party of 16 people on Saturday night. The food was okay but considering the price will probably not be back.
The staff seemed overworked and did their best but were not capable of handling the mass quantities of people at the restaurant or simply at our table. Each staff member I met seemed like we were bothering them as we asked for something
I had the chicken tender salad ($13.95) and for that price you would expect a good salad. Tender was okay but would have been better at Zaxbys
Wife had shrimp dinner. Again good but not great. Considering the price it needed to be better
Same for all of our guests.
Food okay but for that price it needs to be a
Much better experience
Greg Jones
Accommodated our group of 15 at a late evening meal for an Army unit reunion. Good food, good helpings, good service.
Laura Richée
Saw this place years ago and wanted to check it out. Finally came for my.birthday and was disappointed. The flavors were OK, but everything was greasy! I know fried food is greasy but there are varying degrees of greasy. And this was on the drippy side. The flavor of the fried pickles was spot on. Their condiments were amazing (the ranch and honey mustard were awesome) and my mom said her favorite thing were the pickled onions. On a different note our waiter was great and friendly! And the mixed drinks are STRONG! Overall I'm glad we went and I got to experience it, but we probably won't be back.
Selwyn Momberg
After driving past going into KOA a few times we decided to give it a try. Nuff said!! We going back every night. The Red Feather sampler again and again. One serving is way than enough for two. And yes, as in another review, the chairs are a touch lacking in comfort. Don’t let that dissuade you. Take a cushion. $$$$ wise …. Hold back on the wine and malt beverages and you walk away around $30 and a healthy tip for Chad the server.
Randy Smiddy
I've heard of this place for years when I've been in Nashville while attending SPBGMA but I just never made it. Well finally this was the year and WoW! I hate that I waited so long! My wife loved it as did I! We got a 1/2 kettle of beans, coleslaw, pickled onions, and skillet cornbread. Our waiter flipped the bread before he placed it on the table. We also ordered the 1/2 chicken and catfish as our meal. The chicken was seasoned amazingly and the catfish was as well. Ohhh and you use a pie pan as your plate and a tin cup for your drinking cup as if you were on an old riverboat. I can't comment on dessert because we had so much food first. Plenty of food for under $40.00!!
dewayne johnson
Best catfish in Nashville, plus everyone like watching the cornbread flip. Eating off ton plates and drinking from tin cups is one of the coldest beverages you will have
Shawn Huddleson
What a great place for some good old catfish, shrimp and chicken! Their sides like collard greens, coleslaw, pickled onions and cast iron skillet cornbread are awesome! They even flip the cornbread at your table. They waiters all were period costumes and the plates and cuts are tin, adding to the experience.
Rebecca Birmingham Montgomery
We asked a local bus driver "where do YOU go for good food?" He recommended this place and OMG - it was AWESOME!! We ordered a sample plate of shrimp, catfish and chicken (all fried". I'm from East Texas- and I've eaten plenty of fried catfish- but this IS THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD!! Skillet cornbread and Cole slaw was delicious. Turnip greens ROCKED!! Tea served in tin cups. Oh. And I don't know anything more about this place- but I think it's haunted. Thought I saw something...
Tammy Georges
Our waiter was fantastic! Very efficient, friendly, and fun!
The food was really good too!
Wythe Crisler
The server will come and flip your cornbread for you. This is very important. The act of flipping the bread 10 feet in the air adds lots of flavor. Just kidding, if anything, it cools it off a bit so you can eat it since it comes out pretty fresh.
The coleslaw was really good. I've had better hush puppies before, and the chicken and fish weren't the best I've ever had, but were not bad either.
Overall, the ambiance was pretty good and it's a fun place to go, but I wouldn't go here again just for the food.
Tara Hale
This place was so cute! Amazing food and great service! I would definitely recommend!
Shana Harris
Absolutely loved the service food and drinks. Everything was absolutely good our waiter was a young male and he was absolutely sweet and very attentive to us. He repeatedly checked on us and recommended great drinks will definitely go here next visit to Nashville.👍👍 …
Farron
My favorite restaurant ever since I was little! My family drove up from 3 hours away to bring me for my birthday and it tastes just like it always has. Delicious and well worth the calories (and the drive)!!!
Bama Princess68
Great service and great food. Our waiter was fantastic. He threw a skillet of cornbread into the air and caught it. I thought that was neat.
Melissa Rogers
Food was good. Price was a tad high for the amount of food. We went on a very busy night so our server seems pretty stressed out.
Skylar Thomas
I have been here so many times and it is always so delicious! The cornbread and coleslaw make the whole dinner. Get the catfish and you will even have some to go. It is so wonderful! And make sure to sit in the big chair!
Vonetta Allen
My cousin suggested we try this restaurant! He highly recommended the fried pickles! This restaurant was the best choice for our visit to Nashville! I can't wait to come back to eat at the Cock of the Walk! Our serve Stephen was spectacular! The food was fantastic! It made me feel like I was on the farm from Little House on the Prairie!
Tawana Holifield
First time visiting
Waiter did his best as a new employee of 3 days and a table of 10
Food was good
Loved the vintage ol pans and cups
Eleazar Pyscher
Excellent food, service, price. Can't be beat. From the warm greeting at the door, to the flipping cornbread, delicious coleslaw, pickled onions, amazing catfish, chicken and shrimp, fries, hashbrowns and the sweet iced tea, everything is amazing.
Vickie Keisling
My family has been eating here since it first opened. Always have great service and food. Never had a bad experience.
David Dunn
If you like southern fried food, this is the place. Sides are served family style. Everything we had was great. Chicken, shrimp, catfish and steak is the menu. Sides are Cornbread, greens, beans and slaw. The slaw is awesome!
Jessica Kingsbury
An awesome experience with Ramsey, our delightful server.
The food was amazing and the Red Feather Sampler was enough for both of us to share!
S B
Consistently good food, catfish, cornbread, slaw, onions, fries, that amazing tarter sauce is good on everything! Wish they could move to the Nolensville area.
Eddie Causey
Everything was just what I thought would be. Really enjoy eating here. Always friendly staff and great food
Shane W
Had dinner with some family friends that were in town and they were looking for some southern cooking near where they were staying. We elected to try this place out. At first I was nervous because it was Friday night and the lot wasn’t too full. We were a little early for the typical dinner rush. I think it was right around 5pm.
Most all of us had the sampler platter since it had a mix of catfish, chicken, and shrimp. All was delicious and I bite that even though it is all fried it doesn’t taste the same. Like when you go to a catfish buffet in Arkansas and they fry everything in the same oil so the fries taste like fish. This was notably different. I loved the flavor of all three choices. The family style coleslaw and pickled onions served with the meal are amazing. Never knew I liked picked onions. Cornbread is on point! Overall this was a really good experience with a very friendly sever. Good value too!!!
Tracy Hanft
It was truly an awesome place. Our two sons and their beautiful wives and 3 grand babies. Took us there for our 38th anniversary. They told our waitress and after dinner she brought us two strawberry shortcake for us. The best waitress I have had in a while. She was right there to make sure are drinks. All of the staff was amazing. We will be going back and we recommend it to others.
Dawn Kirk
Our server was friendly and pleasant. The menu is limited to fried chicken, fish, or shrimp and a few steaks. However the food was tasty and portion sizes are good. They need to cook the fries a bit longer. Overall happy with our dinner.
Jeremy W
Used to have great meals here. Now, not so much - and certainly overpriced compared to what’s plated. The cornbread was scorched on the bottom, the beans were over-peppered, the pickled onions and the slaw just don’t have the same flavor they used to.
Catfish was good as was the fried chicken. Server forgot to bring out the honey mustard and the tartar sauce and it’s ALWAYS about the sauce!
Overall C- when it used to be a B+/A-
Daryl Reuter
We went for beers at the bar. I enjoyed the tall frosty glass of Bud light. A great hang out.
Larry Curry
This is my favorite catfish place in the world. Their fried dill pickles are good too.
Jacob Cox
I absolutely loved this restaurant, the staff was extremely amazing here and they got the food out to us as quickly as they possibly could. On top of that it's close to a mini golf course which in my opinion made it that much better.
alan booth
Went to this place on the way to the airport and I absolutely loved it! Nice ambiance and decor, fun cornbread tossing servers and the food was delicious with really great portions for the hungry guest! Really great fried catfish served family style!
Stacey Brown
Interesting name. Interesting decor, very rustic and log cabinish. The food was good. Menu is minimal and all food is fried...all of it. Those pickled onions were super good as well as the cornbread.
Marquibe Smith
I grew up eating at the the very 1st location in Natchez,MS. I'm glad they expanded to Nashville, I have a taste of home here always!
Michael Phillips
COTW never misses and this is my favorite location! From the cornbread to the last shred of slaw, always fresh and always cooked right!
Douglas Dotson
Had lunch on Sunday afternoon, food was great we were there at 11:30, seated quickly and food was quick too.
T Greer
Our visit today was wonderful. We had a large party celebrating my husband's birthday and they accommodated us despite the shortage of staff. Jude, our waiter, did an excellent job handling our tables alone. The food was hot when it came out and was very good.
Mark Byrne
As you walk to the door, and as you enter the door, there are several signs that attempt to tell you how privileged you are to eat at COW, and if you don’t like it you should leave.
If you sit in a rocker in the lobby waiting for your table, more signs are posted that address parties of 16 or more, must be on one check, and the sign goes on to say that you should not come here to argue about that.
It made me wonder that if a group of friends get together, who pays?
If we have alcohol drinkers and water drinkers, who pays for the alcohol? Do we all have to bear that expense?
I would not expect you to pay for whatever extras I order, but I guess I haven’t yet understood how lucky I am to get to eat here and give them my money.
There are other options for fried catfish in and near to Nashville.
I have been eating at COW since it opened, and stayed with them when it seemed they would go out of business, only to now see how their “hospitality” is really gearing up to treat their customers.
Just my thoughts.
Stephanie Joanne
I have lived in Nashville most of my life, and I had no idea this place existed! What a surprise! I totally enjoyed the pot of white beans, lil iron skillet of cornbread and pickled onions that are brought out to the table even before you order! We shared the combo with catfish, shrimp, and chicken, we were so full, and still took half home! The service was friendly and fast! The only thing I did not like were the cobwebs in the bathroom, and although the thousands of business cards on the walls...they are pretty dusty too..
Boyd Simmons
Loved white beans, cornbread, slaw and pickled onions. Kind of surprised, no fried chicken, but chicken tenders.
SOᒪᘜᗩᒪᙓO
Very cute place! I had the filet mignon am6d it was excellent! Tea was amazing too!
Marty Bruce
The food was great. Our server was exceptional.
robyn bradley bryan
They have the best catfish fillers and jalapeño corn bread I have tasted in YEARS. SO GOOD!
Server was sweet and efficient. The huge rocking chair was fun. Great time to honor my late father, whi lived catfish. It was the first anniversary of his passing, so we were pleased we chose this eatery.
Casey Gibson
Great place! Awesome food and staff!
SHERRY GREEN
Our server, Alex, was fantastic....friendly, excellent service.... the food was absolutely delicious...fish, shrimp, beans & cornbread was awesome... great experience.... thanks Alex
Tom Christoe
This is a fun place to eat. They do a good job on the food in a family style if that is your thing. Or you can order individual meals.
Go earlier than 5 if you want to get in quick.
coletta
Flip those pans of cornbread. Catfish was the bomb and so was the fried chicken tenders.
Unconventional 4
The service was great! The staff was nice! The food was excellent! The sweet onions and cornbread are delicious. We went for my grandmothers birthday she had a nice time.❤
JR Bonds
Just visited last Wednesday and the place was clean and the food was awesome.
Michael Rosiek
We totally enjoyed the southern cooking. The fried pickles were the best we ever had. The sampler plate was very good and enough for 2 to split. Our server at the bar was out going and had a great sense of humor . Good time!
D Cripps
Great food, great service by Kory even when short handed.
Lee Radford
The food is amazing...One of my go to spots everytime I'm in Nashvegas...
Shelly Manis-Raley
I was pleasantly surprised by this place. We were seated immediately and our waiter was our favorite for our whole weekend trip. He was so personable and honest and the food was really good. My friend and I ordered shrimp and steak and split the entrees. Our waiter had extra plates and was on top of everything without us even asking. We also had a friend become a tad queasy due to car sickness and he accommodated her amazingly. He brought her crackers and a plain baked potato immediately. The cornbread is truly southern quality, the “fixings” were all fresh and good, and if you like steak, try the ribeye or try the fried shrimp, both are amazingly good. I only deducted 1 star due to the place seems a tad old and needs a good dusting over. Cobwebs are an issue but the rest seems clean, including the bathroom! I’m also kinda shocked they had few options for t shirts and they really could have some doozies with the name of this place being what it is…almost a tad let down by this.
Stacey Clayton
One of Nashville's best kept secrets. The food never disappoints.
Jordan Yeckering
Great food and a very interesting environment!!
Todd Ford
The food was fresh, hot, and very tasty. No salt needed. Also, sweet tea in a tin cup. What's not to love? As always, Well Done COTW!!
Dody Curtis
It was really a good experience. Food was great...I had the platter with shrimp, catfish and chicken tenders. The white beans were good. My hubby had a ribeye (medium rare) he said it was really good.
Ronnie Choate
Got there when they opened and still a 25 minute wait. The place wasn't really busy 😕. They are struggling like a lot of other places with staffing problems. The whole country is going to hell and people just don't seem to care anymore. The prices have raised on their food dramatically and some things were out of stock (THANKS OBIDEN!) I didn't even stay to eat. But I remember the food being delicious the last time I ate there. They still get five stars though. They're doing the best they can.
D Kelly
One person in our party loves Fried Catfish. It was great and the tarter sauce and cocktail sauce were very good. The sweet tea was tasty. Our server was delightful. Beyond that it was okay. There are so many great places in Nash to eat that it has to be hard to compete. The baked potatoes were old. The Fried shrimp was overly salty. When we entered the overwhelming smell of grease made us rethink our choice, but we stayed. ( we were meeting other people) . It was also very dark and odd when you walked in the door. Not sure what it was that threw us off? Maybe the seating in the waiting area or the two take out windows? Loved the business cards on the walls, everyone needs a statement. It is hard coming back from Covid, so maybe that is why it was struggling a bit. We probably won’t visit again, but if you are looking for good fried catfish and cornbread, it is worth a try.
Lavesha Johnson
The server was pretty good! I believe he was also the bartender. The drinks were very good! The silverware that was already on the table in a bucket didn't look to be clean. Table wasn't wiped down prior to us sitting which probably means the chairs or salt/pepper holders etc wasn't cleaned either. The food was decent. It didn't come out as hot as expected.
Melissa Clifton
The food here is amazing and the service is great (greens and corn bread) soooooo good!! And this huge rocking chair to sit in!!
Dale H.
Been there 3 times, 2 of those were this summer. I could make a meal out of the sides alone. I love the pickled onions, white beans and coleslaw. Also cool how they freeze the tin cups before filling them with your drinks, so cold the ice doesn't even melt. The catfish is good as well.
Jessica Benson
Hands down omg pot of beans are so good the greens are amazing the coleslaw is better then kfc period the catfish is amazing shrimp to onion rings are so good an our waiter was friendly huge portions of food.
Christina
Awesome southern food. I'm not a cole slaw fan but I believe they had the best. Now I'm hooked. Don't let the atmosphere inside fool you, they have great food.
Doris La'Shelle
Hands down the catfish dinner is my favorite. I want to know the secret to their coleslaw.. I have never had coleslaw this good and the sweet onions topped it off. Their Skillet cornbread is the perfect size for the meal and it is a wonderful compliment to the beans. If you never been here go and if you've been here go back. You can dine in or you can carry out... If you place an order over the phone 15 minutes later it is ready. And when you go make sure you get a picture in the big rocking chair.
Vicki Relph
Very nice staff. They even unlocked the door so we could get our food after closing.
Lillieth Whyte
Loved it. Wouldn't choose catfish as a first choice, but this was good. So much food, never had fried pickles before, it was better than expected. Sever was wonderful also.
Mark Byrne
Food was good.
Service was good.
Management has an attitude.
Lots of homemade signs with warnings.
Basically, if you don’t like it, leave.
Be careful management, you may get your wish.
Rachelle H
Large portions. good country food! Can't make reservations unless you have a super large party.
R M Calhoun
We come here every time we visit Nashville. Good food. I took off 1 star because its not quite as good as 20 years ago when we first came but they let us know up front they were very understaffed so we understood. Still had excellent service from an obviously tired staff.
Rals Man
Cole slaw with pickled onions was amazing. Had catfish and shrimp keel boats. Catfish just ok. Had better. Shrimp better. Didn't care for skillet bread. River fries very good. Once for the experience is enough.
Craig Cochran
Great catfish and fixin's. The pot of greens were delicious! You won't leave here hungry!
Cynthia Williams
Thus is family's goto place when we have visitors that have never been to Nashville. Always a showstopper. My family actuly went back the next day because they loved the food and atmosphere so much
Tena McCoy
Not impressed, pricy. Limited menu, greasy fries, and pickles were flavorless, waiter was nice, short staffed as all of our country but could of had 1 of the three very unhappy hostesses help do something, my steak was cook perfect BUT it was very tough and grisly..hubby's was better, Cole slaw was yuck, didn't like silverware sitting in cup on table,..I was like so the people before me probably touched all of it!!! We camp at Koa behind it alot,..to many awesome places to eat than to come back here.
David Petty
$24 ribeye was ordered medium, came out medium well with char marks and was very dry and over seasoned. The Service was excellent and all the other food was great! I don't gripe on food while in an establishment, I'm not looking to get it off bill or free food, I deal with what I get. The cornbread was amazing as always!!
Kim Mize
First time to visit and will not be the last. Food was fresh, hot and really...really good! Service was great..
Gail Roberts
If you like country food greens, cornbread, and beans you'll love this. Fish and chicken are great. More food than you'll be able to eat.
Dan Shook
We ordered the Sampler and it was very good. Plenty for 2 people. Service was first class. Would highly recommend dining there.
Don Dixon
Food awesome, very peppery, spicy I thought it was great. Wife didn't so much care for it little to spicy for her taste. Love the pickled onions.
Shane Follis
If you like catfish and the best cornbread around this is your place. Even when busy the rocking chairs are an enjoyable option to wait in. Service is always good. Only advice I would have to the restaurant is bigger cups. Although I enjoy the metal old timey cups I wish they were bigger. All in all would recommend it especially for large groups, plenty of room and plenty of food.
Alzona Parker
They have wonder cat fish, shrimp, all seafood, full bar, food cook fresh to serve, hot cornbread. Open at 5pm.I am back 2021.
Paul Deter
My wife and I stopped in because we were at the Nashville KOA for the weekend celebrating our 38th anniversary, and it was within walking distance. What a great place! The catfish was awesome and our server Ashley's made the night even better. We will be back and hope she takes care of us us again.
David Joy
Unique place, Pretty pricey.
Food is great.
William Clark
I'd always heard good things about this restaurant. My daughter had been there before and raved. So the wife and I we're at Uncle Buds with an hour wait.
We called the restaurant and wouldn't you know it...no wait. So we went to Cock of the Walk and was pleasantly surprised. The teas they served were really good. And the dinner ware was cool.
I liked the fact that they didn't have a huge menu. To me it made me think they concentrated on what they do best.
The food was really good. Except for the fries. Our waitress Lexie was a charm. The cornbread was really really good and so were the hushpuppies.
I'll definitely go back. Might be awhile as we enjoy new dining places. My hats off to this exceptional restaurant.
Kathryn Briskie
I thought this place was delicious. I had the shrimp and catfish. The sides and coleslaw were delicious, and the pickled onions were amazing. The fried shrimp was absolutely excellent, however, the catfish which I heard was amazing was only so good. The tartar sauce was also extremely heavy on onion so much so that most of table can eat it. I would definitely go back again but I wouldn't get the catfish next time.
michelle
Amazing food. Great service for a party of 50 and had 2 servers that worked so hard. Will be back soon.
lara carter
Waitress was stressed and unfriendly... very short staffed. Wasn't to impressed by menu offerings.
Fish was great, everything else not so much.
Ernesto Ramos
Is very different in very homely
Lori Odom
Inconsistent quality, but usually a fun and good place to visit with out of town friends and family. Their cole slaw and tartar sauce are excellent. Their grilled catfish is worth a try also.
Andrew Budzinski
Always great food! My family use to stop here anytime we drove from Michigan down to Pensacola (about once a year) but I haven't gotten the chance to go in the last couple years until just a few weeks ago. The food was just as good as I remember! The menu is small, but it's all delicious and the atmosphere is very family friendly.
David cox
Service was great we both ordered the chicken it was really good the coleslaw and greens were amazing would of like to try the deserts but was way to full,
The next time we're in town will be back here also.
Brandi York
Always great! Friendly staff and the food is amazing. The options are big so definitely recommend ordering less meals than the number of people in your party. The food is served family style and comes with sides of slaw, onions(which are amazing), and cornbread!
Tina Lay
Best coleslaw and catfish! Loved the tartar sauce too. Great food and service.
Vince Williams
The food was good. I arrived one and a half hour before closing. Was seated in the bar area with no one else in there. Felt like I was stuffed in an out of the way place with no Windows. I have had better visits there before. Felt like I got cheated out of the whole dinning experience they normally offer.
John Taylor Jr
Incredible service and incredible food. The catfish is perfectly fried, not too greasy but crunchy all around. The amounts served are generous. The Cole slaw is an absolute must, it is genuinely the best I have ever had.
Kirk Kelsey
Great food, awesome atmosphere, service Great. Portions were substantial (you won't leave hungry) my first time here and WOW I am impressed will definitely be going back soon and often .
Chris Runde
The menu is very limited, but the food is good! Steak, chicken and catfish pretty much. Food comes with fries and hush puppies. They have jalapeño in the cornbread and hush puppies, which makes them amazing. They also have beer and booze. Don't come for variety just come if you're looking for chicken, steak or catfish.
Kathy Stout
Catfish, chicken and shrimp. Love the sides most...greens, cole slaw, pickled onions, hush puppies. They flip the cornbread in an iron skillet. Giant rocking chair. This place is just fun even if the tables are a little sticky. Reasonably priced. Service is always friendly and attentive. Good choice for a large group.
edward conner
Had not eaten here for a few years, but it was like going home. The catfish was excellent, the slaw was exactualy the way I remembered it (best I have ever eaten), and if you go away hungry, it's your own fault. Our server, Chase, was nothing short of awesome. If you are looking for a great dining experience, this is the place.
Beth
Great place to eat if you like good old southern cooking. Simple menu and reasonable prices. Flipping the cornbread is entertaining. Best slaw I've ever eaten. Each of us ordered different meals and shared (we still had food left for to go boxes) if you love fried pickles theirs are THE BEST! Get there early to avoid waiting.
Michael Hall
Good restaurant with a unique dining experience. Drinks are served in tin cups, the beans and greens are brought to the table in the cooking pots. Don't let that fool you though... the food is good. Catfish and chicken with fries and hush puppies made fresh. Was skeptical going in, but I'm glad we decided to have dinner there. Great staff as well. Highly recommend.
Brenda G. Sizemore
Our first time here, but our daughter in law has been coming here since she was a small child with her family on yearly vacations to Nashville. The cornbread and coleslaw were delicious! The coldest water we have ever drank, and it was 90 degrees outside! The shrimp, catfish and chicken are incredibly good! The French fries are the best! Will be back! Our server was great! Loved the atmosphere.
Melinda Duncan
Love eating here! Our server, David, was fabulous! Very attentive and friendly. Food was hot and delicious. The cornbread is one of my favorites. With little bits of jalapeno, it is a perfect side with the catfish and chicken.
Maddy Miller
Great family restaurant! The atmosphere is really wholesome. We loved the pickled onions they give you when you sit down. The food was pretty basic, but still very good. The drink special situation was confusing. The outside sign said red sangria, the waitress brought me a hurricane, but insisted it was a very berry sangria. I checked the sign on the way out, it said red sangria. Also, I know what sangria tastes like...it wasn't sangria, it was a hurricane (the other drink special). So I think maybe more communication when servers start their shift would help. Either way, service was ok and food came quickly.
R Batey
Really good food, moderately priced, family-style sides. What really made them stand out was the phenomenal service. Our server was incredibly patient and kind with our children; both whom are on the Autism Spectrum. My son was so enamored with her, in fact, that he actually ate something substantial!
I can't speak to how Service is during peak hours, but we went on a weekend evening and they weren't terribly busy, no wait for a table, and as I mentioned, amazing service.
Tanya Jenkins
It's been many years since I last ate here. The fish and shrimp are just as I remembered. I enjoyed the coleslaw and the cornbread. I thought there were more side options. The service was good and friendly. If I'm in the area I would definitely be back!
Carrie
We absolutely Love this place. I don't even like catfish normally or tartar sauce but their food is phenomenal an I like both here. Simple menu chicken, catfish an shrimp with sides. Really good fried pickles as well. Our waitress was Amazing I wish I could remember her name , she was absolutely exceptional. Give it a try!
Paul Farrier
Large fried chicken tenders, but I could have gotten them grilled. Very good. Juicy, tender, and served with hush puppies, fries, cornbread, coleslaw, and pickled onions. Much more than I could eat. The service is fast, friendly, and professional. Price is moderate with a rustic atmosphere. I'll definitely come back with my wife and or adult children. I'm enjoying this southern hospitality.
scott martin
Found this gem of a place by accident.
Glad I did, had the best catfish I’ve had in years. Our waiter was outstanding! Will definitely drive the 3 hours to here again.
Greg Tucker
We love to eat here with family or just us. The food is tasty and atmosphere enjoyable. Staff is usually upbeat and friendly. They do a trick tableside where they flip a pan of cornbread high in the air and hopefully catch it before serving. Waitress gave my 16 y/o son (at the time) lessons. Great memories!
Wesley Hovis
The food was delicious. We had catfish and shrimp. The fried pickles were amazing. Service was just ok and that's why I only gave them 3 stars. Our waitress would just disappear for over 5 minutes at a time and would have to flag down someone else. Will definitely come back, just hope the service is better next time.
Emily Kimmons
Amazing environment and a fun experience for anyone. Quick and friendly service in a historical landmark. Visited by Charlie Daniels, Trace Adkins, Reba McIntyre, and Johnny Cash's sister, Joanne Cash. The food is quick to the table, and the servers are very kind and hospitable. They put on a little show with a cornbread and flip it super high into the air and catch it back into the pan (most of the time) 😂. Regardless, they'll always bring another pan of cornbread out to the table quite fast. The catfish, chicken, and shrimp seem to melt in your mouth. There will always be dirty reviews about every place, but in my opinion this place deserves five stars across the board. There is so much effort put in to preserving the customs and the experience here. The place has been around since 1983, and it's still going strong. I recommend this place to all people who can appreciate a homegrown southern experience.
Nate Patrick
Good food, fun atmosphere, good option to experience while in Nashville. Went here with a large group, which was fun, though it was loud and hard to hear with all the hard surfaces. I ordered the chicken with fries and it was very good, great flavor and plenty of food. Don't forget to take a picture in the giant rocking chair in the entry.
Jarl Balgruuf
I love eating here. They have great food (if you don't mind fried) and the service is always friendly. I like the old mountain cabin type atmosphere. The slaw and pickled onions are infinite (as far as I know) and delicious. Every time I'm in Nashville I eat here. Even when they're very busy the wait times generally aren't too bad. It is a bit noisy and cramped but it's worth it in my opinion.
Cantuse Thisnamehere
I tried it while I was in town with my family. The staff was friendly and the food portions were big and tasted good as well.
LaKeesha McWilliams
For a couple who only eat seafood and looking for something different than the boxed restaurants, this was amazing. We got our drinks in tin cups was something different but nice. Our host was the best ever and he flipped the cornbread almost touching the ceiling but not missing a beat or a crumb for that matter. The onions they give you was surprisingly delicious that I asked for some to go. Food arrived fast and was delicious. Next time Im in Nashville I will definitely come back.
Tina Johnson
Ordered fish and shrimp was good but I also order some white beans and all this is to go. Got home all food was still semi hot but shrimp was soggy, catfish and fries was good. But the white beans I ordered wasn't cooked they were still hard.
Should have told me so I could have ordered something else.
I tried cooking them some more and they're still hard I paid extra.
Sara Moore
Wasn't overly impressed with the food I received. Not much of a menu. Don't come if you don't want fried food. Good service though. Love the big rocking chair.
Jenny Moye
The food and service are not memorable, but the giant rocking chair at the front is what I remember. It is an average place to eat, with nothing spectacular about it. They used to have lollipops at the counter, but you had to purchase them for 25 cents, which seems petty to me, as the food is not necessarily cheap. It is also not a place to go if you want to get out of there quickly. You almost always end up spending an hour and a half to two hours there. I have no real complaints, but nothing really stood out about it.
Ladema Huffman
If you leave hungry it is your own fault! The pinto beans tasted like grandma use to make and the cornbread was devine! Loved it when they flip it in the air!!!!! The slaw tasted amazing. Now on these items they bring you enough for a meal itself. We had the catfish that was cooked to perfection, shrimp that were huge and the chicken was so tender & juicy. My husband was very skeptical at first after seeing the prices, but after the meal....he was very impressed!
I did this review once and posted pictures but not sure what happened.
M D
The food was very good, and consistently so. The beans and cornbread are favorites. Like many popular restaurants, over time it appears that the upkeep of the floors and restrooms might use a little more attention to make the whole experience excellent.
Karen Seals
A TON of food! We were a party of 38. One server handled everything for us and was as efficient as if he were 3 serve staff.
Timothy Getz
Charming historical building, good service. Unfortunately almost every item on the menu is deep-fried. Fish, chicken, shrimp, fries, everything is saturated with grease. Prices are on the high end for what is really just fast food. Cole slaw was good. Cornbread was bland. Sorry.
Brian Elliott
I had the Red Feather Sampler, with chicken, catfish and shrimp. I was very impressed with flavors. All meats were juicy, and had great taste. The sides were family style, which included very good Cole slaw, surprisingly delicious and addictive pickled onions and delicious corn bread. Definitely worth a visit if you are near it
Katy Smith
My family and I were there during rush hour and still the staff greeted us and make us feel at home. The menu is a little different than typical places as it is more a family dinner as it all comes out together. The catfish and shrimp is to die for and the slaw is the best I had. I actuallly love KFC's slaw and there's is so good as well. My server to very nice and personal.
Kimberly Sims
David was a fabulous server! We were there yesterday. The food was good. The shrimp was good, but the catfish was a bit greasy. Cornbread was good! Thanks David and my brother in law said you saved him with the trick for acid reflux!
Teri Williams
The catfish took me back to my hometown Camden Tn. Thought I'll never get a chance to taste fried catfish like my Uncle George Smith again. The food had such a positive impact on my family and friends, we'll be returning soon.
BRYANT BURRUM
Best Catfish Ever!!!!!!!
Went here to celebrate my Birthday, absolutely the best catfish around. The fixings are so look good. Staff is friendly, helpful and keeps your glasses full. Recommend everyone eat here at least once. Once is all it takes and you will be hooked.
J. Frost M.
Had the catfish fillet dinner x2. Great food. $40 + tip for two to eat but we brought home a pound of fries, a whole conrbread, two pieces of fish, and half a pot of white beans AFTER we ate our fill. Great service. Will def be back.
Debbie Smotherman
I hadn't been here in a long time. But we went Saturday...it was just as delicious as always!!! Waitress was excellent!!!
Emily R. C
I was unsure about this, but heard good things. VThe menu is small and to the point, with a couple of options. The food was AMAZING! They start the whole table with slaw, pickled onions, and corn bread (all delicious) but coleslaw was the BEST I'veever had! I had the grilled shrimp, so delicious! Our server had a trainee, they were both great. Very efficient and friendly. Food arrived quickly, hot, and tasty. The history of the place was pretty cool to!
Mark Weeks
Delicious catfish and chicken. We love the greens and slaw. The staff is very friendly and efficient.
shawntruitt68
I ordered the sampler platter. It had chicken strips, shrimp, catfish, and hush puppies. All of it was battered and fried goodness. They brought out cornbread and coleslaw for the table which was actually quite good as well. We had fried pickles and onion rings as an appetizer which was NOT so good.
Robert Guy
I ordered the sampler and replaced the shrimp with extra catfish, (allergies to shellfish). The waitress was helpful, curtious, friendly and the food was at our table in about ten minutes. The chicken and fish were fresh and hot. I'm not a tartar sauce fan, however theirs had what I assume was dill in it and was excellent. I will definitely go back and take friends or family.
Terri Wilson
Best strawberry shortcake in Nashville!!!
Wendy Savage miller
I love this place, we use to go all the time years ago when kids were small and it's still the best catfish and they throw the cornbread up and catch it in a pan. If u ever get a chance. To go Dont miss out. It's a great p li ace and so many stars has been tbere
Tina Arter
Fish and shrimp, slaw, corn bead were good. Fries were cold. The little metal cup of tea ran empty several times. Menus is very limited
keith hert
Food was really good plenty of parking atmosphere was great highly recommend
Catherine Brooks
Chantha the manager treated me like I was one of her kids. She loved on me and fed me real real good!
Angel Gollar
The food was really good,a little pricey, again though really good...they have a smaller menu than a lot of places, again really good & lots of side refills
Alleria Brown
Best place to celebrate any occasion. Food was delicious and the service was great!! Atmosphere family, I love the old time tin ranch cups and plates. If you like to have a cocktail, there's a whole other side for that.
Marie Gamble
Seriously, the BEST catfish I've ever had - and every single time I go, it's equally as good! And they're tartar sauce is amazing - as is the fried pickles. Service is always great, food is abundant and reasonably priced - I only wish there was one closer to Cookeville but I will drive for this food, hands down!
Tabitha N
My kids always love to watch them flip the cornbread into the air and catch it with the skillet. The food has been amazing each time I have been there. The wait staff has always been pleasant and accommodating.
Hiedi Fox
Coleslaw was good, fries were good, cornbread was good...server barely spoke english, steak was tasteless, table wasn't sanitized and everything on table (salt/pepper shaker, steak sauce) had a nasty film over it all, and noticed (after i ate coleslaw) that coleslaw tub was not cleaned either....
Frank Seddon
The service was friendly and helpful. The food was good. I had the catfish. I did not eat the coleslaw though since the container it was in looked like it had just been moved from table to table several times without being washed.
Susan Scott
It's different. Very limited menu - steak, fried chicken, catfish and shrimp (can get these grilled) with coleslaw, pickled onions and cornbread for the table. Cornbread and hush puppies have jalapenos in them which I didn't like. Cornbread was cold and only "buttery tasting spread" instead of real butter. Hot cornbread with lots of real butter is my style. Just average at best in my book.
Walt Robinson
Yea old unique building but that means they've been putting out consistently good food for years. Menu is simple. Catfish, chicken, shrimp, steaks. Comfort food. Service is professional and food comes out fast. Fixings are plentiful...get a bowl of the beans for the cornbread! Drinks in old school tin mugs too! Most everybody walks out with a leftover box which is a good sign you get bang for your buck. Great meal experience!
Lisa Archer
Food was great, serves was less then desired. We had plates piled up around our two seated table. Hubby ask if he could get onion rings instead of fries and waitress just stood over us and shook her head "NO".
David Rucker
We celebrated a birthday here while traveling. They met all of our expectations and more. The food is served family style with generous portions. The catfish is excellent -- I am speaking as a Kentuckian, and Kentuckian's are very choosy about their catfish!
Chris Moore
Service was outstanding but the food left something to be desired. Greens were bland and shrimp too peppery.
Kathy Mahon
This is a fun place to eat. Good Southern fried chicken, wonderful catfish, big shrimp, excellent coleslaw, cornbread, hushpuppies, and pickled onions. My husband and I split the Red Feather Sampler. It was all of the aforestated food. You get tin cups and plates to eat out of, very unique. They serve the coleslaw, pickled onions and cornbread family style. Everything we are was excellent.
Keri Chandler
It was good, but because of Covid they do not really do the family style type eating. It is more of endless chicken, fish, etc. So you finish your plate and ask for more. Not the same experience, but it was good!
Melanie Longoria
I really enjoyed the catfish and the service was great. The only issue I had was the tin cups, would have rather had a real glass. The tin cups gave my drink a metallic flavor and they're too small
John Reed
Best stop in Nashville as always. This is my all time favorite restaurant. Great catfish and cornbread. I don't know what their onions are or why they taste like apples but they're delicious.
Brian Snedden
Great food and a simple menu. Dinners come with cornbread, onions, beans, hushpuppies, and fries. It's all fresh and there's plenty on the plate. There's hooks at all the tables to hang your coat but you won't want to take it off as it is very cold inside.
Mary Simpson
It was different!! Different types of items that came with the meal(pickled onions, small cast iron skillet of corn bread) the tableware was old timey metal plates & cups. It was good, just a little something different! There were only a few items to choose from for entrees (& a little confusing to this dumb blond as to how much you are choosing) but it all comes out on 1 big metal tray & was very tasty!
Jason Weakley
Catfish and fries was delicious, and so were the hush puppies. Coleslaw was tasty, but very wet, but that didn’t bother me. Everything was great except the price was high. $14 for lunch was a bit steep.
Leland Evans
Markie, our waitress, was a lot of fun & knew the menu well. We were a little weary of the name, but once we went in, it's an interesting themed-restaurant. I've had better catfish, but the shrimp & chicken we're great. They start you off with cole slaw & pickled onions and a mini skillet of cornbread, and they are really good.
Jay Buchtel
Best coleslaw in Nashville so far. Ordered 2 catfish meals got enough for 4. Cornbread and hush puppies were great. Service was excellent.
Curtis Butler
Great place to take the family. The food is ordered by the plate but comes out on one dish. Makes for a home meal and you can just eat and share. We ordered 4 plates and it fed 6 of us. You can always just order more if needed.
Gloria Lockridge
I enjoyed my food. I love the white beans but they should have been hot not warm. Other than that the waiter was very nice and made sure we were taken care of.
Felicia Mackie
I've eaten here 3 or 4 times now and have enjoyed each visit. Their cornbread and cole slaw are the best.
Bill Bois
If you like fried food, it's good. Limited menu.
Brenna Rhoton
Wow! Loved this place! Good food!!!
Bill Mullins
Service was decent, not great. Slaw was good, beans tasted like someone had smoked a cigarette over them. Shrimp and catfish were good, chicken was a bit dry.
Holly Mae
Not the best catfish I've had but it's pretty tasty! The chicken is amazing. The coleslaw is amazing. And the staff is super nice. They make sure you get everything you need.
Glenda Murray
The catfish, white beans, cornbread, and coleslaw were delicious. We had a great waiter who served 11 of us. Would recommend.
Josephine Woodson
This place is amazing it was everything my stepdaughter said and more. We really enjoyed the food and the scenery our waitress was awesome we most definitely will be coming back 👍🏼👍🏼 …
Clean Worker
Food was good and plentiful, wait staff was pleasant, time from seating to eating want very long either. The cornbread and the steak were probably my favorite.
Jason Hatton
This place has a great lunch special. I got the shrimp. It came with fries, cornbread, pickled onions and coleslaw. The food and service were great. I loved the cornbread.
Sasha Ledezma
Great service - everybody I spoke was friendly . clean place , comfort country feel .
Out catfish dinner was ready in 10 min, everything down the the tartar sauce tasted homemade.
We will definitely be coming back and will recommend it to our family and friends.
James Hopkins
Service was very good.
We ate there twice while visiting Nashville.
Prefered the catfish.
We had greens, pickeled onions, beans and cornbread for our appetizers.
Yum,yum
Jaye Dillingham
Went in the middle of the week not very busy so food came fast and was great. Great server who did a great job suggesting the right size foods. Would definitely go back.
Justin S
Had the Ribeye and it was pretty decent. Not that many options on the menu, but the bar area, and staff were friendly and responsive. It came with a salad, baked potato, and bread all pretty good. Most likely you will be taking a to go box as the portions are large.
Melissa D
Our waiter was excellent, friendly and efficient . The food was fantastic! It was delicious and everything came out fast and was hot. Definitely one of our favorite places in Nashville!
Corey
Steaks, fried chicken fingers, fried shrimp, fried catfish. Fries, slaw, rings. That's basically the entire menu. Food was delivered in 5 mins due to the limited choices. It was good, but not much to choose from. No veggie sides, no salads other than side salad. Not at all what we expected given the place's reputation.
Jenn Durham
Great place to eat. They always feed you more than enough and you will always be able to take some home. Best catfish and cornbread around. It's also fun watching them throw and flip your cornbread up to the ceiling and catch it in the skillet.
Jabs Meyer
Jalapeños in the cornbread were a little too spicy for us. Probably an ok place if everything you like is deep fried. We did like the coleslaw. But will check out some other venues next time.
Brandi Nicole
Hands down the best catfish I have ever had! Actually everything we ate was seasoned well and delicious. Heather was an amazing server, super friendly and great customer service!
Danielle Byrd
The food, the staff were awesome! We had the fish and a side of turnip greens and all the extras. 👍🏼. If you're looking for good home cooking this is the place be!! Oh did I mention the sweet tea. Mmmmm …
T Anderson
Everything was flavorful, and plentiful. Our waitress was more than accommodating.
Art Wells
Great atmosphere and service....as for the food I got a Ribeye and the wife got the filet mignon and all I can say is WOW! I have not had a steak that good outside of a very expensive 5 star restraunt in a long time....highly recommend this restaurant!!!
Robin Trent
GREAT ENVIRONMENT!!! Food wasn't that great. Fried pickles were awesome. Online menu prices are NOT AT ALL accurate. Very limited selection. VERY OVERPRICED. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Though someone recommend it to us. Don't think I'll be back. $85 tab for 2 adults 1 kids, no alcoholic drinks.
Rick Collins
I like this place a lot. The food was great! The server was very good. 🙂 Will go back soon.
Candace Blackstock
Our server was awsome. Food was ok..my pototo was served luke warm and so were several people's fries. The best parts of the meals were the fried meat items and the community sides. Ordered a sirlion that was pretty dry...but not their specialty. Server Alex was amazin tho and was quick to make things right.
Carolyn Dawson
Fantastic food and atmosphere. Eating here is so much fun. It's very dimly lit at night so beware. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Doesn't provide a large variety of healthy options, but that's not why I go there so I'm okay with that.
Robert Anderson
Great catfish. When you go here, be prepared for fried food. If you order family style for 4, they will bring out a plate of 8 catfish and 8 chicken, over a heaping pile of French Fries. The Hush puppies were especially good, but also fried.
You will Definitely have your fill of food when you go here.
Amanda Chandler
Always have great food and great service
James Boucher
Stopped in while in town from Massachusetts and absolutely love it. We tried a little of this and that and found that a simple menu is all you need if you can make food this good. On the way out the sign says "We had to be here you had a choice" if you were near my home I'd be back often but I will be back each time I'm in town. Thanks
Dolly
Yes very southern country cooking. The chicken tenders are very good but the breading is a bit peppery for my taste. Also the corn bread is good but has jalapeños in it and you can’t get it without. My husband loves the cole slaw and says it is the best he has ever had. They serve that and pickled onions for everybody. A friend had a steak and said it was also peppery but good. We were there when they were getting ready to close and they put all the chairs .. with the feet of the chairs in the tables so we are hoping they wipe the tables clean every morning. 😳
Larry Hott
Great eats, generous portions.
Roger Howard
This place had awesome food, great environment, friendly staff, and was an all around great experience. They serve everything family style and the portions are amazing. I would definitely eat here again.
Suzy Shrader
I love Cock of the Walk! I eat there everytime I am in Nashville. I found one also in Pensacola, Florida. Wonderful Catfish, with all the good southern trimmings. The servers are always friendly and fun. The portions are large, always more than I can eat, so I take leftovers home. Reasonably priced. My only complaint is they are not open for lunches.
Todd Clements
I really liked their cold slaw and pickled onions. You get a pan of corn bread too, with whatever you order. I had 2 PC's of Catfish and Chicken which was really good. It's kind of off the popular tourist area of Opryland by the campgrounds.
Sonya Glover
They were obviously short staffed but our server was very good! Coleslaw is yummy! And jalapeño cornbread was too!
Geo B
Great food. Great service. Get the catfish.
Keleen Carlson
always delivers an outstanding meal and value! homemade tartar sauce is second to none, fish pieces are smaller than average but it's the best part of the fish, not a huge piece with lots of mucky parts or over-fried skinny parts! skillet bread is similar to mexican cornbread and delicious and served hot. pickled onions are a great ornament as well as the cole slaw and beans. And if you don't like fried foods they do offer grilled!!!
Tinman
Food is ok, service is excellent. Typical tourist spot with the usual photo ops and lines depending on time of day. Easy walk of you're staying in one of the nearby campgrounds. Dinner for 2 around $50 w/o alcohol.
Larry Aikens
A catfish is delicious. All the fixin's country style. More than we could eat! Good value. Encourage you to make a visit.
Steve Illgen
Recommended if you are in the Opryland area looking for a place that serves Southern-style comfort food. The facilities are clean and the service was good, But what makes this worth five-stars is their amazing friend chicken filets, which is among the best I've tasted in a long time.
Michael Delaney
A really cool experience! I've passed it dozens of times but we finally made time to try it out! Absolutely loved the catfish, and that's coming from someone who DOESN'T like catfish.
Kimberly Beeny-burford
First time visiting and it was awesome! We had a large group and they seated us pretty quickly. Food was great and prices were about average but the staff and ambience was great!! Wish there was one near me!!!
Jason Rodgers
Food is good and service is acceptable. The lighting is pretty inadequate in some areas. The lunch crowd on Sunday is very manageable. Overall this is a decent establishment. We used to frequent the location in Opelika, AL which appears to be a cut above the Nashville location.
Diane Nunez
Food is served family style, good fried catfish and coleslaw, fries ect. Our server had been there 6 years, very pleasant and helpful. Good casual place to eat.
Dennis Bockus
Fantastic food. Served in a old tin plate setting
With chicken. Catfish. Shrimp. Fries. Coleslaw and pickled white onion. Sampler plate is definitely enough for two adults
Rikki
The food is delicious. The menu is limited, but I would rather go somewhere that does a handful of things very well than have a giant menu that is hit or miss on different items. Best catfish I’ve ever had.

OOOO MMMMM GGGGGG.... wow Wow WOW!! It's that time again folks... it's MMMMMAAARRRRSSSSHHAAAAAAALLLLLLL with your Googly Google Restaurant Reviews!!!
Ok, so if you know me or have read any of my reviews (which you should have by now because I am ALL OVER GOOGLE) you know I like to give these looooong drawn out reviews but man... I can't do it this time. The food was so good, I don't want to talk about it... I just want to go back and eat MORE!!!
- Atmosphere of the restaurant gets about 3.5 stars: it wasn't the most cleanest place (but granted, I am a little OCD about cleaning).
- Seating gets 4.5 stars: it was very accommodating and plentiful (even on Father's Day). Has two levels.
- Staff gets a solid 4.75 stars: very friendly and accommodating just not enough to go around but again it was Father's Day
Aaaaaand the food: 5 out of 5 stars and I. WANT. MORE. I ordered the chicken tender salad (grilled) and I have never tasted grilled chicken tenders that maintained flavor and its juice. The hush puppies were deliciously amazing and the catfish and chicken pretty much melted in your mouth. FOOOOOOOD IS WINNING!!
Ok, that's it. I'm leaving it as that. Come to Nashville. Visit Cock of the Walk... and eat until you SOUL is content.
As always... HAPPY FEEDING!
Marshall OUT!

We had a wonderful experience!!! Ashley was an amazing server!!!! Was a lot of fun and very attentive to our needs. Food was so good and was stuffed when I left. Would recommend her and the resteraunt
Jimmy Kent
It's always great food and service. Tonight was particularly an outstanding visit for me due to the beautiful company I was in all while unknowingly to me an ex girlfriend claims to have sat in the doorway of the next room over and watched me enjoy my whole meal and company.
Flash A Million
Fish was okay . Loved the pickled onions with it. Didn't like that I order catfish fillers and got what appeared to be catfish nuggets , but oh well.

DELICIOUS FOOD, FRIENDLY AND FAST SERVICE, AND AWESOME ATMOSPHERE. TRY IT TODAY YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!
Roby Dorsett
Pretty good food. Wife loves it. The pickled onions were too oniony tasting for me. Love the tin cups and plates. Gotta see the flipping cornbread. Good service and large portions.
Sherry Arnold
The service and food were both great. We will definitely return. Awesome cheesecake too!
Matt Schubauer
had to check it out because of the name, but other than that its a great place with great food. I especially liked the onion n cole slaw appetizers they gave the table.
Kim Robertson
Service wasn't very good. Food was ok, lots of pepper used in slaw and chicken. I really think it's overpriced.
Brianna Payne
We were on a trip & headed home, we had one last hope for a good meal from the trip & Cock of the Walk did not disappoint! Our server, Heather was awesome & took great care of us!
Keyana Edwards
This place is absolutely delicious! The limited menu scared me at first but they stick to what they do best and it is! The fried shrimp is a must. The staff are always friendly and have great hospitality.
Joyce Wright
Cock of the Walk is our favorite catfish, casual dining place. We are locals and love the family style food and the overall entertaining atmosphere. Come early for the freshest catfish and you will not be disappointed.
Missy Phillips
Lance was the best server that we have ever had anywhere. The food was really good too.
Kevin Ward
Great fun and great food. Very busy, don't come if you're in a hurry. Catfish was amazing 👍✌🇺🇲 …
Rhett Rhemann
The food is very good (although a limited menu) if you like down home southern cooking. And personally, I like to enjoy it as it is meant to remind you of a different time. Great place!
Charles Miller
Love this place! The catfish is awesome and after trying desperately to find decent fried shrimp, in Nashville, I finally found it! I am spoiled, because I moved here, 2 years ago, from Jacksonville, FL, where there were Mom 'n Pop seafood places on every corner. Cock of the Walk finally satisfied my craving for the fried shrimp I was missing so terribly!
David Delph
Absolutely love this place - best coleslaw ever! The Catfish, Chicken, fries, Hush-puppies, cornbread, and pickled onions - everything was awesome! Great service to boot!
Brian Evans
Served family style Cole slaw, corn bread, and pickled onions (really good) to start. Friend selections were good and tasty. Service was friendly and fast.
Gayleen Callahan
A fun time! Food was like my grandma used to make! Greens were yummy and chicken and catfish too!!
Jason Anderson
Way over crowded. Food was ok not great. The catfish which is the main thing they serve was muddy tasting. If you eat catfish regularly you know that's not a good thing.
Nisha G.
It was just ok. My first time there and i dont think i will be going back. I ordered chicken and fish and my server gave me shrimp. When i told him i ordered chicken and fish. He told me "well they gave you shrimp" and didn't fix it. I have shellfish allergy.
Bruce Dzadek
We shared one meal and had plenty. Fried shrimp fish and chicken but no grease whatsoever
Christopher “czar” Smith
excellent food! More food then you know what to do with. No way will you finish one of their plates. For $12 you get fish/chicken, hush puppies, way too much fries, skillet bread, pickled onions, and a bowl of slaw.
Watching your server flip your skillet bread before serving it is nice entertainment to.

Lightning was terrible in the Adventure room at 4:40pm couldn’t see to read menu without phone flashlights. Food was good. Maybe alittle over priced. But tasty. Slaw was great as well turnip greens. But I can’t stress enough about the lightning in the Adventure room
GREG FLORES
From the time we came in till the time we left just awesome great service super atmosphere and if you go best ever catfish. Prices great for families and plan on taking some home because servings are large
Adam Whatley (Titanupadam)
Food was good, Slow service salad came out after meal Drinks are in small cups so you run out faster than normal. It was simply okay. Probably won’t be back.
Christian McKown
Only a few things on the menu. Food was Delicious though and service was very good. However, the floor was sticky and personally, the atmosphere seemed off. It is broken into sections which to me, it doesn’t add anything to the atmosphere.
Haley Green
Words can’t express how much I love this place. Good atmosphere, amazing food, great service, and ALL of my family can fit around the big farmhouse style tables! ❤️
C Marks
Nice atmosphere and good service.
William Johnson
That's the coldest water and best coleslaw and catfish and fried dill pickles and onions money can buy. The service is great also.
Sherry Carpenter
It's a great place to eat. Everything was "very good", the fried dill pickles we're just as I remembered. So good,we went through 2 orders.
Cayce Lassiter
The Catfish was delicious, and my wife enjoyed the Chicken Tenders. Our server was Poneshi W and she did and wonderful job. We will be eating at the Cock Of The Walk again.
Brian nannie
I always enjoy eating here. The food is delicious and the fried pies are perfect for dessert!
Susanne Hill
Fries were hard. My chicken had several small bones in it, and the flavor/seasoning was just 'okay,.' There was nothing special about it all.
Brandon Davis
Food was cool. Don't know if I was totally impressed, but I'd go again just to take other tourist. Can't say I'll be just dinning there for myself.
David Chism
If you like fried catfish and cornbread (as I do), this is a great place for casual dining. The menu is very limited, so if you don't crave catfish filets, you may not enjoy this restaurant.
Stacy Lozano
It has very good food and Dawn was a great server.
Jeannine Glaus
Food was good, service was great and we didn't have to wait long at all for a table even though it was Mother's Day
Senior Smith
Good catfish and good chicken. Not the best I've had and definitely not as good as the reputation but good none the less. The bread flipping was...anticlimactic at best. Maybe that's some of that southern charm.
Xado Yamen
First time here out of town from Memphis! Heather was our server and went above and beyond for us! The food was amazing will definitely return anytime I visit Nashville :)
Leah Lepinski
Limited menu but food we ordered was very good. We went with grilled rather than fried. A lot of food for reasonable cost. Service was friendly and efficient.
Joshua Holman
The food is amazing! The menu is simple and the staff are excellent. We don't make it out there as often as we'd like.
Lady Mjölnir
Everything was delicious. Generous portions served with some of the best cocktail/tartar sauces I've ever had.
T Adams
Love the pickledcucumbers and onions and coleslaw! The server we had must of been new, but you have to start some where. Chicken and catfish were excellent.
Arthur J Fischman
It literally is the best catfish that I have ever eaten! The greens, the marinated onions, YUM! I never give 5 star reviews but I did here.
Rob Gideon
Absolutely great food. The cornbread, grilled catfish, grilled chicken and grilled shrimp were great. Service was also top notch.
Ethan Kendrick
Food was great! Love it!
Karen Anderson
The food is always good and the service is great.
Shannon Moles
The coleslaw and chicken were delicious! Maybe not the best place for an individual to go (the portions and sides are generous) but would definitely recommend!
David A. Willmore
Food was good. Workers seemed a bit perplexed with the size of our group. >100.
AJ Dominick
I have to say that the staff will help you order the best meal for your group and work around allergies. I appreciate the latter so much because it means my family can have what they want and I can have grilled tenders.
Charlina L. Burns
The staff was great.. we booked +20 people, we didn't have to wait for serves. the ribeye was juciy and tender. just little too fatty but season great..
Cecelia Eurales
Food was VERY GOOD. I didn't like the darkness of the restaurant and it smelled like a rest area bathroom & fish when you first walk in. Not a good smell when you are hungry. But the food was delicious.
Mark Vickers
Good food and good service. I will definitely eat here again
Karri Kuehn
First time here, and it was as I expected. A warm, inviting country restaurant. The food was decent. A little over priced for what it is though.
Casey Scott
Not for everyone but the food is very good, best to eat fries first as once they cool down there's no saving them, pleasant staff some better than others, ask for Jessica, Devon, or Zack if coming. I recommend the shrimp and chicken as they are by far the best that this place has to offer.
john keplinger
Don’t go by menu prices one here. They are about $6 off on each steak. 8oz Filet $26.95, 12oz Rybsye $24.95, 8oz Sirloin $16.95. That’s from the menu on the table. When asked, they don’t know anything about the menu prices online. Lol
Tanika Dotson
I loved it food was delicious large portions service was great and the price was just right
Shirley Vaughn
Food was great but our server started out ok but wasn't good. Had to ask for water. He was slinging chairs around to sweep up right beside us . Made so much noise it really bothered me.
Wendell Stone
Met up with some old buds for a meal. Great fish and fixings. One of the best catfish places in Nashville. Highly recommend.
S.S. Taylor
Good meal.
Interior needs a deep clean.
Paul Johnson
Great meal and good times
Tamara Redd
The best slaw I ever ate in my life! My steak was cooked perfectly too.
Mitch Fishman
Small menu with many deep fried options. Cock of the Walk isn't one of my favorites but they had a constant flow of people. Food comes out very fast.
Ray Trusk
Was expecting whole fried chicken.
Smoltzie :D (Smoltzie)
The cornbread flip in the pan was cool.
The catfish was good. The chicken was also decently good. Not the best but certainly not the worst
Monica McCullough
The food and atmosphere are good. They flip your corn bread at the table, drinks come in old tin glasses (love that) staff are super and are very interactive and helpful.
Donnita Hearns
The food was really good and the staff was nice...
K Howard
We had a party of 15 on Sunday and Jodi knocked it out of the park with exceptional service and thought of everything. Everyone enjoyed the food and we had a great time. Thanks Jodi!
heather Ellis
We have always frequentative this place. It has a limited menu it appears they took the whole fried chicken off the menu and just have chicken tenders but the food is good service is good you could just need a little more tidying up.
John Aguiar
The best staff, and great food that leaves you “fat & happy” when you roll out!
Connie McVicker (aka The Traveling Coconut)
Love this restaurant...Mississippi and Nashville. Always get the catfish and fried pickles and devour it. I can never figure out why the floors are always so slippery or sticky...the only downside I could ever make!
Michael Garton
Food is always good with the exception of deserts ( my opion) , but the amount of food you get you probably won't order it any way. Cost is about 20$ each but you may could split an entre between two people.
Shelia Morgan
This was my first time here, but similarities to a resturant in Alabama. We loved the greens, cole slaw, onions. I had fish and shrimp everything was great.
Antonio Summers
A different place. The atmosphere was inviting and had a western motif. Everything came out hot and fresh.
