A dining experience perfect for a date night. The courses were delicious and unique, paired with wines (optional). Plate presentation was on point along with the flavors. Service was timely, efficient, and friendly. The menu is constantly changing and a surprise to you that night. Overall great experience and make sure to go next door to grab some tasty drinks and play some pool while listening to vinyl. $$$-$$$$

Small and cozy Minneapols restaurant. Six course meal of masterfully prepared and presented dishes. There is a wine pairing option. We were there with friends and we all had a wonderful time. The dinner pace was on point and the staff was courteous and friendly. Fairly priced too!

I highly recommend date night here! We waited two months for this reservation, and it was well worth the wait. Chad and I got here a little early and we were directed to the bar until our time was up. Great for socializing and beautiful drinks. Once our time was up, we were ushered to our table, and the fist course was started. We did the wine paring with our dinner, and can not say enough about how incredible dinner was. The technique to the creativity in our course. We were served six plates and every time the last bite left you wanting more. Thank you chefs for an incredible experience with my love.

Six delicious courses for $70 per person ($30 optional drink pairing). Had such a fun time here celebrating by my fiancées birthday. Staff were friendly and walked us through each course. The restaurant is small and cozy with great music playing. Well worth trying to nab a reservation to experience this place!

Amazing food, service, and ambiance. It’s also a very affordable course meal and 100% worth it and more. You will also not be left hungry after eating their 6 course meal. Excited to go again when the menu does its few week change.

This place is the cat's pajamas. They do a really nice 6 course tasting menu, and all of the courses are thoughtfully planned and the pacing is tight. The restaurant itself is very cozy (they also have a great music selection, and I often find myself surreptitiously trying to use soundhound between courses) and staff are fantastic. Overall, an excellent value - I haven't eaten anything here that I haven't loved. Special thanks for accommodating my shellfish allergy, which they totally didn't have to do. Just give them a heads up when you make your reservation.

Service was wonderful. Food was generally disappointing - I genuinely enjoyed 2 of the 6 courses and the rest were “meh” at best. The wine was not worth the alcohol. Space is small and quiet but lacks comfort and ambiance.

Oh, Tenant. We've been here three times, and I say without hesitation that it's our favorite restaurant not only in the Twin Cities or even America, but in the entire world. They clearly put their heart and soul into everything they make, and on top of that, are also super chill and fun to be around. It's a rare pleasure to feel like you've been invited into the community of people who run a restaurant and share their food with you, but this is one such place. Maybe the most amazing thing is, despite the fact that you don't choose the food, it is universally appealing. They have served me entire meals of things I would normally avoid and I've relished every bite. Could not recommend them more.

This review is a couple weeks late, but I could not just let it go. I firmly believe Tenant is the best tasting experience in the twin cities by far. We started in the side bar and our cocktails (both alcoholic and NA) were excellent. Best old fashioned I've had in a while. We played a game of pool while the bartender put a Mac Miller album on the record player. The vibes were immaculate and the bartender is truly a class act. When it was time for dinner, they brought us through the kitchen to our seats. Very quickly after we got comfortable they brought out the first dish and wine accompaniments. The open kitchen, along with the chefs personally delivering each dish, made for a very intimate dining experience. The simple yet elegant decor was calming, and allowed my senses to focus on the melange of flavors that were presented. I believe the head chefs name is Grisha (I hope I spelled that right) and he delivered a world class menu. My personal favorite was the pasta dish with a crab vodka sauce. The texture/flavor combination took me to a different place for a few minutes. All in all, Tenant has something magical going on and I have been recommending it to everyone I know. I am bringing friends to try it for our next visit in early 2023. Thanks again! Update: Want to give credit where credit is due, Cameron creates the world class menus at Tenant.

Menu varies but on our day the variety wasn't great. Two pasta dishes was a little unexpected. Wines were fine, not spectacular. Servers were friendly and efficient. No major complaints but on the same note, nothing to rave about either.

Exquisite 6 course menu for $50, a wine flight with three very generous glasses is $25. There is no menu, just tell them if you have an allergy, and they serve away. You must have a reservation to eat there, and they book one month out. However, the flavors are well worth it. You won't walk out here stuffed to the brim but you will be very satisfied both in terms of flavors, food quality and quantity. Everything is made freshly in house and they exchange one dish every week so the entire course menu switches up every 6 weeks. Great neighborhood place, we'll be back. If you like travail you will love this place and you wallet will too ;).

I’m so glad that this place exists in Minneapolis! We’ve been here three times now and it has been just as amazing of an experience as it was the first time. The space is low-key and cozy, there is always music playing from a vinyl record. Service is fun! The chefs literally run the whole show - from cooking to serving to personally greeting you at the door. Aside from being aesthetically pleasing, the food on their tasting menu seem to revolve around clean, vibrant, and interesting flavors. Which is what I’m alllll about! And let’s be real, the pasta dishes alone are worth going in for.. delicious. Already cannot wait to go back! Word has gotten out, reservations are hard to come by these days so be on look-out for when their new dates open up!

In an episode I watched in a recent binge of Anthony Bourdain's "Part's Unknown," the titular chef states that he doesn't think chefs are artists. Clearly, Bourdain hasn't been to Tenant, the hot new restaurant that has foodies screaming for more. Tucked away in the old Piccolo spot in the Kingfield neighborhood of South Minneapolis, Tenant is my new favorite restaurant and it might just be the best dining experience you'll have this year. When you first walk into the small restaurant, you might notice the clean, white walls with the occasional empty vintage frame. You'll see just how small, homey, and cozy the restaurant is, with only a few tables lit by candlelight and then a bar in front of the kitchen that seats about seven or eight people. You might notice the record player spinning staff and guest selected vinyl, ranging from Jay-Z to David Bowie to Michael Jackson, providing a fun and unique feel to the evening. You might notice the amazing smells wafting from the kitchen area. Or maybe before you even get to any of that, you'll be greeted by a member of the Tenant staff, introducing themselves and thanking you for dining with them this evening. Not only are they checking your name to make sure you're on their reservation list (which you will need, by the way), they make you feel welcome and at home. They shake your hand as if you've arrived for a fun evening at a private dinner party at someone's home instead of for a meal at a restaurant. As you're guided to your table, you'll notice that there are no servers, at least in the traditional sense. Instead, Tenant is a team. You might be served by one of the main cooks. The chef running the grill might refill your water. No matter who comes to your table, you're greeted with kindness and a friendly conversation, as if you're longtime friends. And they're always super knowledgeable of the menu and your meal's ingredients. This creates a unique dining experience as you can't help but feel that you're an integral part of the evening-- Guests of honor, almost. It's easily one of the best customer service experiences you'll have. Tenant offers up one option: a casual tasting menu of six courses that reflect the ingredients and cuisine of the season. This means you're always going to be dealing with the freshest ingredients. It also means their menu will change throughout the year (so while my photos are amazing, the dishes I got will be different than the dishes you'll get in a month). Each group of diners you arrived with is on the same schedule (adding to the importance of a reservation). This makes it easy for Team Tenant to stay organized and bring out the same courses to all the diners all at once. Honestly, I could spend time going over how every detail of each course was perfect, from the fresh herbs to the perfect homemade pasta to the sauces that graced my plate to the rich and subtle flavors that danced across my taste buds. But I'll leave all that for you to discover. In a nutshell, the food was simple, yet out of the highest-quality, perfectly plated, and out of this world delicious. It's an art. It is an art to bring you a coursed-meal that could easily be $100 somewhere else for only $60. It is an art to be this good and yet not be pretentious and fancy. It is an art to bring you foods you know and love, like ravioli, but make it refreshing and new by placing a quail egg and lamb sausage inside. Each member of the staff is an artist. OK, so there's more than one option if you include the drinks (there's a wine pairing you can add to your meal, as well as a small selection of beer and cocktails). By the end of the night, you feel like you're part of the Tenant team. Your private conversations will spread to others around you or members of the staff, and soon you're one big group dining together. You'll be asked what record they should play next, and rest assured, they have something for everyone. A fine dining experience indeed. Even though their menu and ingredients will change often, I hope that Tenant sticks around and stays the same.

I would give 6 stars if I could. Incredible experience from start to finish. They make it seamless from the start of calling ahead to learn of any food allergies or preferences. They have a nice bar next door to grab a cocktail before and once your bike is ready they transfer your drink tab over to your table. The 6 course meal is incredible and diverse. The explain each dish in its entirety and have a nice wine pairing to go with it. The ambiance is great, good space between tables, very intimate and not super loud. I will be returning!!

I have been to this restaurant many times and I have the best experience every time! The food is always fantastic, the atmosphere is so cozy and the service is unparalleled. Last night was our first experience at next door. What a delight! The drinks were simple and delicious. It's all such a great value and it felt like we were surrounded by friends (the staff.) The free game of pool and loaf of milk bread didn't hurt either.

Arguably one of the best restaurant experiences in the state. Very intimate with coursed meals. The coursed meals rotate weekly so you will always have something new when you go. The chefs are incredible with great energy. Old school record player playing with the chef basically DJ'ing. The feel is cozy like a getting a meal at home. They also accommodate Gluten Free patrons which is indistinguishable from non-gluten free food(pasta, pastry). A must go!

I sat at the counter in Tenant's intimate new space for a truly incredible (and affordable!) six-course tasting menu and wine pairing. The hand-made ricotta was easily a hit, and every course had a combination of tastes and textures that seamlessly complemented each other (for example, smoky roasted carrots and tangy balsamic reduction; and creamy risotto as a vegetarian alternative to beef tartare, paired with tart and succulent ramps). The service was unlike anything I had experienced, as the chefs deliver each course and wine pairing while explaining the hand-picked ingredients. I highly recommend making a reservation as this place is booked well in advance.

This was our first time doing a multi-course meal or anything of this style. We were thoroughly impressed at the quality and flavor of the foods, and the friendly and attentive service. Don't be discouraged if bar seating is the only thing available - it felt private enough and actually enhanced our experience by having a view into the kitchen to see how everything was assembled. I couldn't help but notice all the great energy and enthusiasm behind the scenes as the chefs worked together carefully putting together each plate. They all looked like they take pride in their work and enjoy working with one another. Good vibes and good food here, we're excited to come back again!

The six courses were well-sized and the first four were well paired with the wines, often surprisingly. The only issue I had was with the pairing of the fifth course, a roasted piece of beef rib, the wine lacked the body to make a great pair. One out of six ain't at all bad! And it's a quibble, really.

My husband and I have been to Tenant twice now and both times were a wonderful experience. Each course we had was delicious and thoughtful in its presentation. I would highly recommend the drink pairings if you are wanting the ‘full experience’. I was also touched when Tenant remembered I had a food allergy from our first visit there. When my husband booked a reservation for the second time, Tenant asked if I would be joining him because they were aware of my allergy. I have never had a restaurant remember that so it felt special that they did. We will absolutely be back in the future as this is one of our favorite places in Minneapolis! Both times we have left the restaurant feeling it is Michelin Star worthy. I wish I had photos of the food to upload but this is a restaurant where you want to put your phone away and just enjoy the experience.

This was easily one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The staff were so friendly, detailed, and attentive, and did an amazing job at presenting each dish of the six course meal and describing each one to you. The atmosphere was phenomenal; the restaurant only seats around 20 people maximum, so you are truly one of only a few customers and are treated that way. And the food was phenomenal; they have a set menu that changes every few weeks and each course was delicious and perfectly paired with a wine (if you choose to add it). Adding to the experience is the ability to watch the amazing staff prepare your meals. Highly recommend for a great meal and a great experience!

We had made a reservation a month out, but then had to reschedule for the following month. After the 2 month wait, tenant was unbelievable. I'm a picky eater, And there were ingredients involved that I normally wouldn't eat, but the chef's creations made even this picky eater smile during every bite. I love the concept of not knowing what you're having. Six courses, each a surprise, with a wine pairing for about a $100. Totally worth it.

I wish we can give more stars, everything was exceptional starting with the service, the vibe was casual, each course was simple, elegant, delicate, and each one out did the previous course, every bite was an explosion of taste in our mouth, they curated our experience since we are vegetarians and had a lot of dietary restrictions, kudos to the awesome people who run this exceptional place for really enriching our experience, we had our 5 year old son who enjoyed all the courses and a special call out to the owner Cameron who engaged my son in delightful conversations and even had him scoop out artichoke that was later cooked for us. We will be back to experience this culinary excellence again. I am glad Minneapolis has this gem of a restaurant.

We just ate at Tenant last night and everything was perfect! As we walked in we were warmly greeted by the chef and seated! Every course was perfectly paired with the generously poured wine. We got to meet each owner/chef as they guided us through the courses. The food was top notch; we especially loved the pasta dishes and the tuna over farro!! Definitely the best tasting menu restaurant in town!

This was an awesome dining experience. Their seatings tend to book up fast, so you will have to stay on top of it if you want a particular day and time. Each dish was full of layers of flavor and creatively presented by the chef tableside. Every bite was delicious. The wine pairings were a perfect complement to the dishes and the chefs and serving staff were lovely! This was definitely a highlight! Such a great dining environment, intimate and home like!

Definitely one of the top restaurants in the city. Incredibly personable service, great atmosphere, and above all, the food is flawless and creative and playful in ways that are honestly special. It's not cheap, but it's worth saving for. If you drink, get the wine pairings. Just do it. Edit 11/2019: I made a reservation mentioning that it was our first outing since having our first baby, and asking for a seat where we could see the kitchen. Not only did they provide us the best seat in the house (full view of the action) but Grisha welcomed us at the door and congratulated us. As always, the food was divine (roasted mushroom broth was the best bite of the evening) but what was truly moving to us was how the whole staff went out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful evening. And, while I'd like to chalk it up to the fresh baby, it's honestly no less than we've gotten every time we've been there. Grisha and the whole staff treat you like family the first time you walk in the door. Make a reservation at Tenant. You will not regret it.

Amazing service! Unfortunately we couldn't finish our meal and had to leave early due to some unrelated stomach issues my partner was having, but the server was very accommodating and the restaurant did not charge us for any of the meal. We will definitely be returning there soon.

This was probably the best dining experience I have ever had. Reservations are hard to come by so naturally our expectations were very high- however I have to say both the kitchen and wait staff exceeded those expectations. 5 out of 5 stars for Tenant MPLS. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. Go for the wine pairings and maybe a cup of coffee with the desert course. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

Overall, I am a little disappointed due to high expectations given previous reviews. While each dish had good to great elements, I only thought desserts were exceptional. At $60/person, it's reasonably priced for prix fixe tasting around the Twin Cities but not sure if it's quite worth the price. The 6 week rotating menu is not posted anywhere - would be nice if guests can look at the menu before making a reservation

My wife and I had the pleasure of a quiet dinner date at Tenant, and it will most certainly be again. The food was fantastic, the service amazing and the wine pairings were perfect. Definitely worth the expense and the drive.

Awesome. Easily the best restaurant experience I've ever had. Every dish had flavors I've never tried before, wine pairing was spot on (and generously portioned), atmosphere is masterfully crafted with the music and laid back vibes. Its almost like you're hanging out at a friends house and they are showing off their cooking skills. Highly recommend to anyone interested in a great night and trying delicious and unique dishes. And to top it all off, they have Hamm's, the beer you've been lookin for after a long days work.

This restaurant is one of the most incredible I've ever had and that includes a kaiseki restaurant in Japan. The food is always amazing with flavor combinations you wouldn't expect but work so well. We've now been 3 times and would go every week if we lived near by and could find the extra funds. It's absolutely worth a trip or two (or three!). Best meal I've had in Minnesota, with incredible service no less, and at an unbeatable price. The chefs themselves serve the food in an atmosphere of community, warmth, and true passion for the experience they're providing. The house music is played on vinyl and is as carefully selected as the wine pairings. The art is beautiful and framed in antique windows, and the counter seats are deep leather chairs, well in sight of everything going on in the kitchen. The chefs were also super accommodating of my fiancé's dietary needs, even going so far as to call us a day ahead of time for confirmation and clarity, which is super refreshing when so many fine dining establishments won't budge on their recipes except to drop a primary ingredient. As often as I can afford to, I'm going to be bringing people I love to this restaurant.

This is the best restaurant in Minneapolis bar none. You could wax poetics on the food, but it's not even neccessary. The seasonally rotating menu always hits home, but the vibe/atmosphere/hospitality is where the lights shine brightest. Cam, Grish, and crew set a high energy atmosphere with phenomenal food and it's all backboned by the record player adjacent to the restroom! A fun time is guaranteed for all, but that's merely scratching the surface. Reccomend for all, fun times follow.

Absolutely delicious food, I’ve experienced their food four times now and every time it was amazing. However my last visit while the food was good, my other visits were better. And unfortunately at the end one of the owners came out to talk to us about our reservation as we reserved the counter and had seven people. The one owner asked who made the reservations and then scolded us for reserving 7 seats at the counter. He ended it with saying “never do it again”. The wonderful experience we had was abruptly changed to a very bad taste in our mouths by how rude we were treated after spending $700. Honestly I may just take him up on the never again regardless of how good their food tastes. Such a disappointing end to an otherwise great evening.

3 of the courses were pasta not a huge deal but wasn't blow away by a tasting menu with three pastas. They finished with ice cream and mopped the floors while we were still there eating that was a little strange. Then gave us the wrong tab. Again the food was pretty good. You open the door from the cold Minnesota winter and enter Tenant - a warm, comfortable, friendly and intimate space full of wonderful smells and great ambiance. One of the incredible chefs greets you at the door and shows you to your seat. He doesn't check a computer or phone; instead, he leads you to your seat for the evening, which he memorized before you arrived. The menu has one option for food: dinner. I highly recommend you order the dinner. You can opt to pair your meal with the beverage pairing (also highly recommend this) which comes with generous pours of delicious and aptly chosen wines for the courses. Otherwise, you can buy wine by the glass, beer, cider, or soft drinks. The menu constantly changes, but each item is amazing. From the picked veggies to the rich meats to the incredible pastas to the *vanilla custard* Each dish is beautifully balanced in flavor, acidity, richness, texture, and any other measure you want to add. Truly delightful to eat the food here. Finally, the chefs were so gracious and made my friend a glutten free menu. They were so wonderful by calling a day ahead to make sure we were set on the glutten free meal and made a separate menu for my glutten free friend. It was just as amazing at the glutten-filled dishes. 12/10 would eat again. Plz go and support and enjoy.

On to the food: Tenant has a six course tasting menu - that's the whole menu. And it's wonderful. Everything is cooked perfectly.
