Reviews of Tea House Chinese Restaurant
Nilly Rahimi
I have no words for how authentic, delicious, and rich the food was!
Ask about dishes if you’re willing to explore and try new things! I hope you enjoy the hospitality and the culture this place has to offer.
Bravo 👏
I will for sure come again with an even bigger appetite to try the different dishes besides the one I ordered today.
Cheers.

very cute seatings. Food was displayed beautifully. Our soup dumplings did not have any soup in it. Was very disappointing. Strawberry drink was delicious. Majority of food tasted a little bland. Not sure if we just don’t have the tongue for their food but unfortunately we won’t be returning.
Thanks for the experience.

Absolutely wonderful! $50 to feed 2 people + appetizers and, of coarse, hot tea. The booth seating areas offer sidewalls with closable curtains for privacy on your special night. Above and beyond service, and the food was filling but in a refreshing way. Gotta try the dumplings 🤌

If you want to live your best life you MUST eat here! This place offers a one of a kind experience. I have never been to a fancy Chinese restaurant, but since eating here, I have seriously been missing out!
When we arrived we sat down at our table in the middle of the dining room, and we asked them if we could eat in the private room they said yes! I have only seen this type of dining on movies.
The pork buns were absolutely one of the best. Also the scallion pancakes, king pau chicken, sesame chicken, and the fried tofu dish. I can’t wait to come back and experience this a second time!
Stephen Wang
Solid dining experience. Szechuan style cuisine was pretty okay, not the best I’ve had. Appetizers were a bit overdone and disappointing (sesame balls and fried donuts). Overall good food, just can’t quite justify a full 5 stars for the price and the food.

When it comes to authenticity, this is THE SPOT!!!!
Tea House offers the best of the best, and I mean tasty, crunchy, warm food. I was reminded of my time in Yueyang and Weifang eating some of the dishes. The 凉皮 (spicy cold skin noodles) is hands down still my top dish when eating Chinese Meals.
From the service, to the aesthetic and the food. It all adds up to be an overall 10/10. A bit on the pricy side but I did order like 9 dish’s…..

I highly recommend it!
It was our first time dining here, and we did not get disappointed. Food was exceptionally delicious. Customer service was on point. A+ overall experience!

If you haven't been here yet and you enjoy truly authentic Chinese food... what are you waiting for? This place has been a go-to spot for my partner and I for over a year now and it never gets old.
As far as their American Classics go, my partner orders the General Tso's Chicken each and every time we go! He says it's the best he's ever had.
I've tried a handful of dishes here, but on the American Classics menu, my favorite is the Tiger Pork. Holy moly, is it delicious! The Tiger Pork is so crispy and is tossed in a tangy, spicy-sweet Tiger Sauce. This one is a 10/10 for me and I've ordered it more than 5 times now.
I would also highly recommend the following:
Eggplant Pork Noodles
Beijing Mu Shu Pork
Sesame Chicken (A very safe choice for those who are used to Chinese-American classics)
House Spicy Pork (This dish is served in a spicy, chili-oil broth and I would highly recommend it on a cold day!)
If you're feeling adventurous and you want to try one of the more authentic and interesting dishes, I'd tell you to try the "Guo Bao Pork." This dish was truly unique in regards to my own palate, and although the flavor caught me off-guard at first, I ended up really enjoying it!
Our favorite appetizers are:
Meizhou Pork Buns
Pork Soup Dumplings
Szechuan Dumplings (Served in a spicy, chili-oil)
And for dessert? They have the absolute BEST Sesame Balls (filled with sweet red bean paste) I've ever had. I'm pretty sure they make them in house (but don't quote me on that) and they are incredibly soft, chewy and bigger than others I've had elsewhere.
The bottom line is... GO TO TEA HOUSE :)
Oliver Jonelis
Always a great experience. Authentic Szechuan is incredible. Bathroom could be cleaned better and lit. Parking lot needs to be plowed.
Doesn't matter totally worth the meal!

We went here for lunch Friday. The decor was looking a bit tired. The benches had holes in the cover and my chair was super loose like it needed all the screws to be tightened again. Some of the tables were just folding tables with no tablecloths on them. Everything needs a little love and a bit of a refresh. Our server was nice, but inattentive so it took long to get things like water refills etc. The food was good, but the portions were designed for sharing with a larger group so it didn't make sense for only two people. It would have been nice to choose a smaller or larger portion so we could try more dishes. My favorite thing was the vegetable eggrolls. They were nice and crisp and the filling was very flavorful. The scallion pancake was more of a crispy wonton than a pancake. Hubby had the smoked duck. He loved the flavor but is was cut into weird chunks full of bones. The spicy tofu was good, but serves about 4 people.

Wow. I haven't been here in a long time. Large menu selection. Do many choices. I didnt knownwhich to pick. I had the szchechuan dumpling and love it. Spicy and sweet chicken dumpling!
Sasha Renee
The food was so delicious. They have a lot of vegetarian options. I had the king pao tofu. I loved it. Generous portions. Great for sharing. The service was also great. I will definitely eat there again.
Annie H.
The food was so delicious and authentic. I never even knew we could have good food like this in minnesota. The fish was mouth numbingly spicy. So crispy and hot.
Shahrin Shabnam Upoma
Loved their dumplings!! Ambience is nice, staff is friendly, service was good. Will return definitely.
Razi Ahmed
Took my parents and my cousin here for his birthday! It was a great food experience for all of us!
Though they were a little short staffed. Things still went very well!
Will be back again soon!

The best Chinese restaurant we came across in the Twin Cities area. Their hot dumpling soup is just what you need in Cold Minnesota winters. That along with Szechuan Cold Noodles, Kung Pao, Sesame Balls and Boba Cha are our default orders here. Just love them.
Uzma Ali
We really love the food here. We've been here twice and once with Chinese friends so we know it's authentic. The food is delicious. We came with a large party so we got the family room complete with the lazy susan to spin around the food to share. Would 💯 recommend their potstickers and serrano beef noodle soup.

We had Tea House cater our wedding this past July. It was awesome. Yolanda was so nice to work with. Our guests loved the food. Tea House has always been a special restaurant for our family, and we were so excited to share it with others on our wedding day.

Restaurant offer take out, pick up, and dine in. We dine in. Love their menu items because I love their spicy foods. We ordered 4 items, kang bao shrimps, chicken with jalapeño, tofu and beef soup, and pork bellies with garlic sauce. They delicious, we shared, cost less than $20/person. They offer fast lunch menu too. Next to Minneapolis Marriott West. Good for large group and quick lunch. Located in stripe mall.

Authentic Chinese food!! Great, fast service! Everything we ordered was delicious. We especially enjoyed the dumplings in the hot & sour soup. They do have a nice kick!
We ordered 6 items and had plenty for our party of 4. Walked out paying $130 including a few cocktails. We will return!

This restaurant has Beijing style in decorations. It's flavours have Sichuan and Beijing style. Every kind of food is thoroughly same as Chinese. Can you imagine that two people eat five plates foods?! I strongly recommend Everyone come here to taste what is really Chinese foods.
L
AMAZING Chinese spot in an unlikely location. As someone who lived in Sichuan Provence i always am on the hunt for food with a familiar spice. Highly recommend checking this place out!

My son and I really liked the food. I did all appetizers, spicy wings, good flavor not much heat for those who can’t handle heat. Szechuan Mala Fries, the spices on these fries was delicious they were just a bit too greasy. Pan Fried Dumplings, my son said they were really good. Pork Egg Rolls, very crispy and good flavor. And lastly the Pineapple Shrimp Fried Rice, super good, sweet and spicy flavor (no-heat).
The only negative thing I can say which I’ve seen in other restaurants as well, spider webs and dusty, full of streaks windows. Will definitely be back with my husband to have a taste of the other delicious looking dishes.

I cannot tell you how wonderful our Christmas Eve dinner at Tea House was. The place was very busy and there were signs on the door asking for patience in a time of short staffing - you would not have known it from how well-run everything was. The hostess greeted us immediately, sat us at a table for two immediately, the waiter was super attentive (he even asked us, unprompted, if we wanted to move to a booth further away from the chilly front doors - what a pro!), and probably most importantly, the food was delicious. Best Chinese I’ve had in the cities - we’ll be back every Christmas Eve. It’s tradition now!
tyler thiessen
Truly a great restaurant. Perfectly sized menu offering diverse selections without being overwhelming. Atmosphere is genuinely authentic, clean, and fun. We just had a large group (40 diners) and their kitchen staff nailed it. Very impressive. A ton of hard work goes into running this place, we really appreciate it.
Katie M (FirebyMisFire3)
The food was awesome. Many ethnic dishes, they also offered the American style Chinese dishes as well. Met up with friends and we just had a nice time. The server was very patient with us because we kept getting into conversation and not looking at the menu, so he was very nice.
Stephanie Randolph
Like other reviewers said, the restaurant itself is a bit run down but don't let that scare you away. The food was really good. It's some of the best Chinese food I've had in Minneapolis. I got the cream cheese wontons and the Pork pepper bowl. I highly recommend going.
Jay Wu
The service is good considering it’s Covid times. The restaurant is dark, it goes for that kind of atmosphere. I wished it was brighter, or at least lit more appropriately, at the spots that matter, such as the food and maybe a low glow on the face. The fish dishes were the highlight for me. The food were well cooked, but the seasoning can be better. The Kung Pao was a bit on the saltier side and the eggplants were missing a bit more sauce. Overall 4/5
Estelle
My server was very attentive and the food came fast, hot and delicious. It was a late laid-back lunch.
Adam Steiner
I've been coming here for quite awhile, maybe even a decade now? It is in my opinion the best Chinese restaurant in Minneapolis. I'm not at the University of Minnesota now, but still visit several times a year and I always stop. 3PM dinner? Sure! Their kung Pao chicken is perfect. Haven't found a better version anywhere else, East or West Coast.
Emily
Genuinely some of the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. The prices are a little higher but totally worth it over your usual Chinese restaurant. A nice expansive menu, great flavors, I can’t wait to try more dishes in the future!
Amy Xio
I've been here a few times, and it's been a hit and miss. I probably don't know what to order. We got the bento box and sausage fried rice. The meat in the bento box was not good. It smelled off, but the egg and tomato was flavorful. The sausage fried rice had zero flavor and just tasted like greasy rice. Disappoint $45 meal this time. They have so many option though so their other dishes are probably better.

This place was jam-packed, but it is large. I will start out by saying we only ordered items we had not eaten before. The Shanghai pork buns had a tasty filling but we were not expecting the "taro flour" bun exterior - at least this is what we decided based on it's stretchy and rather gooey consistency. The house beef roll was slices of beef and what I think was hoisin sauce surrounded by a crisp scallion pancake. The pancake was nice and the flavor was good but the meat was really tough. We found the same thing with the kudai lamb noodles. The lamb cubes were tough. The noodles were thick and nice, but my husband stirred in what turned out to be a huge glob of fresh grated garlic. All we tasted was garlic..much a shame. Our waiter graciously offered to bring us a new one without garlic but we said no. Our Beijing style mu shu pork was tasty, but you have to like cucumbers and black tree fungus mushrooms, because the dish contained a lot of them.
I would try this place again, I think, but be very careful about garlic in dishes!
Parking is confusing. It was unclear to us if we could use the hotel parking lot.
Colton G
Got the Spicy Pork Chitterlings, House Spicy Pork and the Meizhou Pork Buns, they were amazing! Very great sauce with the chitterlings and Spicy Pork, and you still get little flavor bursts from the veggies and other ingredients. The steamed buns rocked, and I'll give huge props to anyone who can actually make these dang things, because I've been told it's far from easy.
10/10 will totally eat here again.

Yolanda is fantastic. She ensures all of her guest's are taken care of. The food was fresh and fairly quick. I'de say this place is great for date night. Definitely returning.
Russell Lagore
Fantastic food! Don't go when you're in a rush though. Also, I swear I witnessed one of the servers only rinse his hands for a few seconds -- no soap -- after using the bathroom. YMMV
Nia Dyer
Can't reccomend it enough. The atmosphere was gorgeous and i had the gua bao pork and sweet and sour fish. The fish was so well cooked acc balanced and savory and the pork literally melted in my mouth. Will definitely be coming back next time I come down.
Patricia Kirk
I have been here twice now, the first time I had triple delight, pan fried pork dumplings & beef brisket rice bowl n it was all delicious!! 2nd time was tonight! I got pan fried chicken dumplings & veggie egg rolls & king poa chicken low mein & asked if they can do low on the spicyness & it was great again! Friendly staff.
Mai Yang
Everything my boyfriend and I ordered was AMAAAAZING! He was not expecting his dish to be HUGE. We had a lot of leftovers which we were TOTALLY okay with because we loved all of it. 100% RECOMMEND!
Lisa Williams
I like the ambiance of this place, but when you come in a group you are expected to share all of your items with the table and then pay for a portion of the total bill rather than what your order cost which is a bit strange to me but as long as you're expecting it, that's fine. I enjoy the food, and the staff is friendly.
Marina Duchesneau
Authentic traditional dishes with amazing flavor!!! We loved the menu, the service, and the experience!! We ordered the shanghai pork buns, eggplant in garlic sauce, and shredded pork in garlic sauce, all pictured below. Each dish was excellent. There is so much to try on the menu, we will be back!!
Mark
If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. Outstanding, authentic Chinese food. This is a worthwhile dry, even coming in half an hour from the suburbs!
The Serrano Pepper Beef is amazing, and the Tea Smoked Duck was quite good (although it arriving cold in places was a surprise.)
Great portion sizes. Highly recommend!
Autumn Miller
Good food and atmosphere. Asked for the soup to not be spicy, and it was still spicy. My favorite was the beef scallion pancake. Overall, the food reminded me of food I had in China. Also, really enjoyed the chrysanthemum tea.
G Santana
Having brunch buffet, taste like a real Chinese food, the spice ingredients it's peppercorn. Not really my taste but can be good for a people who missed the mainland chinese foods.
Frank Raasch
Worth the wait, worth the price and worth the challenge of parking. This place has some very delicious and authentic food. We love the serrano beef. The heat is there but not over powering. The flavor is spot on. You will not be disappointed with this dish or many of the other ones here.
Ryan R
Seriously everyone! You all need to try this extremely authentic, bombastic Chinese food! It's our favorite asian restaurant by far in the Minneapolis area! Szechuan Cold noodles! Many fish dishes! Dan Dan Noodles! And the absolute best Sesame Beef EVER! This place is to die for! I have DREAMS about this place! Get there!
Sadegh Behdad
I tried the scallion pancakes and tea smoked duck. They were both really delicious. Our waiter was very corteous and helpful. I will definitely go back. Great food!

Chongqing spicy fish, shredded pork, great 👍👍
NaN Null
I decided on a whim to try their more expensive entrees and was pretty floored with how good it was. I hear their lunch is reasonably priced and pretty good too
Audrey Kidwell
LOVED the food and atmosphere at Tea House! I lived in Sichuan for 13 months and so can attest the grilled fish, cold noodles, and stir fried water spinach are all on point - very authentic. I can't wait to try more things from the menu! My only complaint was that our service was a little spotty. Our waiter didn't seem very knowledgeable about the menu and forgot to bring my husband his drink. Still, not a deal breaker for us, since authentic Chinese food can be hard to find!
Nian Liu
It's the best/most authentic Chinese restaurant I found in twin city so far. Sweet and sour fish fillet, double pot pork, smoked tofu stir fried, grandma's braised tofu, scallop with glass noodles, pea tip....all very very good. The only dish I ordered that I didn't like much was the smoked duck....flavoring is not quite there yet. Overall I'm very happy with the restaurant 😊
Honghan Ye
The food we ordered is very delicious. Really like it!
CelestialRose
Food was delicious. Great prices for the amount of food. Definitely enough to share with the table. The jasmine tea was very nice as well. Will absolutely come again.
Meg Trast
What an awesome place! My partner, a friend, and I (three of us) visited for lunch at the recommendation of a local friend, and WOW it did not disappoint!
Our food was hot - and some of the most delicious I’ve ever had. We ordered Hot & Sour soup, wontons, dumplings, and pork buns. Each item was cooked to perfection and bursting with the exact right flavors.
The service wasn’t terribly friendly, however it was obvious they were incredibly short-staffed, and considering out food came out fresh, correct, and very fast, I’m honestly impressed beyond words.
There is on-site parking for the restaurant despite it being in a downtown area, which is also a huge draw.
I adored my experience with this restaurant and will definitely be patronizing Tea House Minneapolis every time I’m in town. I’m actually looking forward to my next visit just to have this amazing food again.
Tuan Hoang
Very authentic and flavorable lamb noodle soup..
Amanda Milbrett
I got the braised pork rice bowl and all I have to say is wow. The pork was so tender and juicy, the presentation was on point.
I also got soup dumplings, they were not as good as I expected them to be. They were pretty dried out with barely any soup in the dumpling itself. The waiter seemed annoyed to deal with us but honestly that really didn't bother me. I am still thinking about that braised pork to this day 😍
Joseph M Switek
Great food, big portions, reheats very well. I especially enjoyed the cream cheese wontons.
Michelle Chaput
I go here with friends after we have to visit the U of M medical center off Huron as it's right around the corner. The only reason 4 star is that you have to be prepared to spend a long time there, BUT I think that's due to the food being made to order and so fresh. I swear, the beat scallion pancakes I've ever had! I am posting pictures of the scallion pancakes, pan fried dumplings, green beans, spicy lamb dish and large plate of Sole that melted in your mouth! I don't know anyone who has been disappointed eating here
M B
Usually packed. Food was good but a bit too sweet for my taste. They’re understaffed so expect slow service
Shion Love
Wow! I only ordered delivery but I had to come here and leave a review. Everything I've ordered has been AMAZING. And the Scalded Chili Noodles are one of the best noodle dishes I've ever had. Great prices for great food, I'm a new fan of this place. Wish I had tried it sooner!
Patrick Shaffmaster
Fantastic atmosphere and great food. The dumplings and green beans were delicious appetizers. The main course of General Tao was some of the best I've ever had. Staff was friendly and very helpful.
Bruce B
Food was fantastic. Service was a bit slow but they are very short handed. But once your food comes out service was good.
I'll give this place A+ for the food.
Sam King
I didn't like Chinese food much until I went here, but the food here was absolutely incredible. If you go, make sure you don't get too many entrees as the entrees are very large.
Ted Sothern
Real Chinese food with a huge menu. Have been here multiple times and have never been disappointed. Good cocktails, too.
Andrea Kiepe
Great, authentic Szechuan food and good service in a convenient location. Eggplant noodles, pork with smoked tofu, kudai lamb noodles are some of my favorite dishes.
Felicia Lin
We ordered House spicy beef and General Tao chicken. These both have wonderful flavors!! We will come again!
Jennifer
The food is fantastic! Love the crispy scallion pancakes, Kung Pao tofu, and Szechuan green beans. The servers have been courteous and very fast.
Micah
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at The Tea House with our grandson and his girlfriend. The waiter gave excellent suggestions and the food was SO good!
Megumu Jansen
Very good authentic Schezuan food. The weekend buffets are popular but so are the menu items.
Mike Cook
We had the Shanghai Pork Buns, some pan fried chicken dumplings, and an order of the Kung Pao Chicken. Everything came out quick and was super delicious. Went home with enough for another serving in leftovers and was under $40 before tip!
We will for sure be back, awesome place with tons of flavor!
蛾Notmin
Fantastic food and enthusiastic service. Weekend brunch was pretty busy, so it took a little longer, but the food was worth it. All the entrees were bigger than expected, so definitely a place to go with a good appetite. Sadly, they don't have dim sum anymore, but they still have many items from it. If you're going for brunch, try the soup dumplings!
Robert Nielsen
Got high AF and ate here with my friend. We ordered 4 entrees and the sweet/sour soup, so we got a diverse experience. Everything was very good especially, 'The Pot'. Like an Asian gumbo or goulash but less soupy. 5 of 5. Will eat here again soon.
Brittany Rasmussen
My family and I went here, and shared multiple dishes. My parents and nephew can be hard to please in a restaurant, but every single one of us (all 6 of us) enjoyed our meals. This is a restaurant where people with different tastes can all leave happy.
James Rendt
Food is phenominal and service is well. Theres also super compy booths that make you feel like an arabian sultan while you dine. Had some vegetable dumplings and eggplant in gatlic sauce which is hands down best ive ever had. Super vegitatian friendly!!!!
Jonathan Fischer
Some of the best Chinese food I have ever had. The ambiance is excellent.
Jake Dasilveira
Had a lovely dinner. One server took care of 13 guests and did a fantastic job. Scallion pancakes, sweet and sour chicken, veggie fried rice, and spicy chicken wings were all phenomenal. Can't wait to come back here and try more dishes!
James Palka
Outstanding food, lovely setting. Best eggplant and scallion pancakes I've ever had
Peter Goldberg
Had a wonderful dinner sharing scallions pancakes, Scalded Chili Noodles, Meizhou Bowl (dumpling soup), and House Spicy Tofu. All items were delicious, and came in surprisingly large portions (a big benefit for me). The restaurant was also nice but welcoming. It was a great place to go for a family dinner.
Emily Lu
Great food friendly staff. Love the brunch buffet on weekends.
Nub Thoj
The service and layout was great but the food, not so much for the price. The cold garlic noodle and dumpling was pretty good but if you want good duck, go somewhere else. Small portion, smells burnt, dry, not very meaty and lacks flavor. Nontheless, it was a good experience.
Leonard Tao
Decent Chinese food with real Chinese cooking. This is one of the place provide cloest Chinese tradtional food in Minneapolis now.
However choice still need to make wisely if you want to skip American Chinese.
Kristin Spencer
I really liked the tea house. The food is authentic and tasty. It is on the pricey side, but worth it once in a while. Our waiter was friendly and attentive
Alexis Homstad
Great food, even better price. We got Kung Pao Shrimp and House Spicy Pork. 10/10 would recommend!
Lewis H. Mumford Sr.
We've eaten at several Chinese restaurants before, from New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Atlanta, Seattle, British Columbia. By far the Tea House is the Best! We will be back!

Food better then okay
My daughter loved it:)

Super good. Especially like the soup dumplings. Have not been let down by this place

Very good Service and outstanding food, once I got seated. It was hard to get anyone to notice me thy were so focused on takeout business. It was worth was the wait though my was server very knowledgeable and attentive. Food was really nice quality, served very hot and quite quickly after ordering. Highly recommend!
christina marie Johnson
Went out with a group a week or two ago. We had a sizable group so I will cut some slack in there but all in all I felt underwhelmed by the experience. The menus are a little confusing, the service was on the slower side, and at one point towards the end of the meal I ordered some thing else and it never came. The vegetarian menu was a bit underwhelming and would be nice to see a plant-based option clearly listed. But that’s really besides the point the main reason why I scored it a three star rating was the quality of the food and the service that night. I do intend on going back to see if I have another experience.
A Dor
Impressed with the food and variety of entrees here, it's not run-of-the-mill American Chinese (although they do offer those dishes if you want). Had a group of 4 for Sunday lunch. The service was prompt. Ordered several appetizers and entrees: egg rolls (not our favorite bc of the glass noodles but not bad), hot and sour dumpling soup, Lazy Dragon (bao-like alternative), Family Tofu (amazing fried tofu with mushroom and veggies), pork soup dumplings, beef with potatoes (sounds Midwestern but it's not!), Pork Ribs with Winter Melon Soup, and YaChoy chicken. The menu is posted online with prices.
I really liked the decor and ambiance of this restaurant and was happy with our service. We look forward to returning for those amazing dumplings and bao buns!
Jacob Villaverde
Gem of a restaurant I found only just recently. I've been looking for a dim sum (soup dumpling) place since there isn't a Din Thai Fung within a thousand miles... Decent alternative for the price. We will be repeat customers. Stylish atmosphere with private booths.
Shirly Moua
The food is delicious here. Their Mei Zhou pork buns are very delicious. It is not overly flavorful, but enough where you can taste the authenticity of it. The bun is soft and fluffy. The Shanghai pork buns were okay, just not my style. Perhaps to others, it may be more suited to their taste. I will say that it is quite juicy the minute you bite into the shanghai pork buns.
Their dumplings are good. The chicken tasted similar to the pork, I assume the ingredients are pretty similar with different meat. Szechuan dumplings were delicious. I'm just a big fan of chili oil and this dish was superb for me. I pretty much dipped everything in the chili oil. lol
The Dongpo Steamed Slice Pork Belly was really delicious! The down fall was the portion for the price was def. not worth it. I would buy it again, but with that hefty price for the portion. I'll have to reconsider how desperate I want the pork belly.
Overall, this is a great place to eat if you are craving more of an authentic chinese restaurant. The downside is the price is pricey in a certain aspect. Pork bun portion for the price DEFINITELY worth it! :)
april m
ugh everything here is just so good!!! the garlic eggplants, scallion pancakes, green beans, rib tips and so much more. there is also a st paul location! the scallion pancakes are different than usual, they are more fluffy and bread like than the typical flat bread style. love both kinds lol.
Victoria
Had dinner here last night for the first time, was definitely impressed. The first thing I noticed was definitely the decor. The place was seriously beautiful and has great ambiance, perfect to bring a date to. The food was also great as well. We ordered the spicy wings, the Szechaun dumplings, pineapple and shrimp fried rice, couples beef, and a soup of some kind (drawing a blank on the name). Everything tasted great. My personal favorites were the Szechaun dumplings and pineapple shrimp fried rice. Service was also really good as well. Look forward to coming back here
James Haney
We really enjoyed our time here. There wasn't a line to be seated, but nearly every seat was filled the whole time we were there. The restaurant was clean and stylish without being guady. My girlfriend really appreciated the pillows at the booths.
Some of the items were out of stock, or took awhile to come out of the kitchen, but most dishes arrived quickly, had great presentation, and we enjoyed the flavor and textures. The dishes were much better than just generic Chinese restaurants, while being just as generous in portion size. It felt like a lot of the seasonings were alittle too similar, but the is menu is huge, so it's a pass.
The prices we're on par for that midpoint quality of Asian food, and the food's quality was good value. The service was friendly, but nothing special. The spicy dishes we're not particularly spicy, and I personally didn't care for the spicy wings unfortunately. Overall, this is a recommended restaurant to visit.
Kirk Duffy
Everything was really good, so much to choose from.
Mengying Wang
I celebrated my birthday every year here in Tea House. Their newly coming out dishes are great( duck soups, traditional Chinese sausage, etc)
Jose C
I have always wanted to try soup dumplings and other dishes like dandan noodles, so I was really excited that these items were at the Tea House. I thought the broth and meat in the dumplings were delicious, and I enjoyed the dandan noodles. The broth was flavorful and spicy, and the noodles were cooked just right. The person I was with had beef noodle soup, and the broth was amazing and the meat was flavorful and tender. The atmosphere is vibrant and the restaurant was busy. I thought the prices were reasonable too. The selection of dishes looked amazing, and I hope I get to come back to try more.
I gave 4 stars because instead of physical menus, you have to use a QR scanner app to scan the sticker on the table to see the menu. I could figure it out, but I can imagine some people struggling with this.
Joseph Aguilar
Great food, a bit long wait but it is worth it
Nathaniel Campion
Best Chinese in Minneapolis.
Make reservations ahead of time for Friday or Saturday dinner.
Ziqian Wu
All you can eat breakfast buffet is definitely worth the price.
Michael Metzler
Excellent food, especially for the large variety available. Great service given it was the lunch rush and they were short on staff. Definitely will go again.
Shelly Knight
Absolutely loved every dish we ordered and the restaurant service was great! The authentic dishes and interior brings me back to living in Northern China. We ordered sauerkraut fish soup, lamb short ribs, triple delight (potato, bell pepper, eggplant), scallion pork, xiaolongbao, fried milk dessert, and Jasmine tea. It was perfect!! Thank you for making my visit a delight. :)
Jenny Palmateer
Great food choices lots of unique dishes. Ok service not great
Nori Miller
Amazing”! Food delicious food and great service. I loved it would go back there again
M's Adventures
Excellent Chinese food! However, it is fairly expensive.
Patrick O'Connor
It's kind of a tradition that if we are within a few miles of the Tea House we'll stop in if only for their chili dumplings. Perfectly seasoned. Just a bit spicy and most enjoyable. This last visit was to check out their brunch buffet. We enjoyed an excellent variety of authentically prepared dishes. So authentic that unfortunately we could not accurately name most of what we tried. But we were there to try new and different items and in that respect we were successful. Other diners & staff were helpful when we had questions. Overall a very enjoyable & educational experience.
Lin Mei
This place has extremely authentic Beijing-area northern-style Chinese food. Not a very clean or high-end place, I must say. But this authenticity just blew me away. I have lived in New York for five years but this kind of 肉龙 and 木须肉 is something I haven’t tasted for a while since I left China.
Arielle Hermanson
It was very pleasant! We sat in one of the curtained booths, so the added privacy was very comforting. Our server was so kind and efficient, and the food was amazing! Highly recommend the Meizhou (?) Pork Buns! We'll definitely be returning!
JUAN GARRIDO
BEST FOOD EVER!!!! Trust me I am very picky I this place is amazing
Roger Korf
The staff was wonderful and helpfull. They always have delicious food with large portions.
S F
You get there and it seems as if it is just struggling to survive. We sat at a table that still had someone’s food sitting on the windowsill. The waiter is a bit rough but warmed up once he realized we were ordering multiple dishes. Besides all of this I had to give it 4 stars due to the food. We had the garlic chicken wings, lazy dragon, pan fried pork dumplings, scallion pancakes and pork egg rolls. They all were outstanding and being a New Yorker who has eaten in China Town in Manhattan on a regular. This is the closest to NYC Chinese food I have had.
Yamini Karandikar
Nice ambiance and lots of menu options. The food was pretty good.
Kerensa Erickson
The service is friendly. The food is good, but it tastes different every time you go there, like a different chef does the meal each time. The seasoning is just never consistent, which is unfortunate. Despite the delicious food, the food always looks overly drenched in oil/sauce, which is the complete opposite of the professional photos they have displaying the food in the menu. I recommend this place, but there are days that I don't feel it ranks any better than a China Buffet.
E
Calm, cool atmosphere, private, comfy booths with curtains and pillows. Veggie szechuan dumplings are delicious. Eggplant in garlic sauce and shrimp with scallions dishes were both terrific and served with white rice. Also had the cool cucumber salad with sesame oil and that was delicious as well. Very friendly and good waiter. This place is so good, my boyfriend took clients to lunch here and then brought me back the same day for dinner!
Irina N
We came here for the first time and were pleasantly surprised how awesome the service was and food was bomb! The decor was on point as well. Definitely coming back.
Ben Gorichs
Everything on the menu is fantastic. Decent number of vegan options, though we always get the triple vegetable and the spicy house tofu.
Tara DeCrow
This restaurant exceeded all expectations. The pork buns were top notch. The general tso chicken was the best I have ever had. We are very excited to call this one of our favorite Chinese restaurants in Minnesota now.
Cori Bazemore-James
Everything we’ve tried here has been really great! Authentic food, good service.
Stephan L K
If I want Szechuan dishes, this is where I go.
Abhinav Asthana
Great place great food, not always clean or presentable but the sheer quality and speed of food makes.uk for lack of ambience and service. Would definitely reccomend. Rice quantity has gone down in recent times however and no brown rice with orders you have to do a separate fried rice for it
Brittany Zachman
Worth the 1 hour drive. If you go here please do yourself a favor and have the pork soup dumplings. Also the ice Jasmin honey tea is fantastic.
Jon O
Super good food! Complimentary tea. Good service! Be prepared to view the menu online though.
Nisrit Dhakal
Food and service is good. They have a wide array of dishes spanning from authentic/semi-authentic to the typical American-Chinese dishes so there should be something for everyone. Prices are mostly on par, maybe a tad bit higher, than other Chinese restaurants
Suggestion: for takeout orders, put the rice and the entree in separate containers if necessary. I got the house special pork to go and it came in one container and half the rice was submerged in oil. It was good but I couldn't finish it because I didn't want to eat spoonfuls of oil.
Sharon Ramirez
The best Chinese restaurant in town. Nice decor, exquisite, (more) authentic food. Yum!
Marie Tchang
Excellent service and great atmosphere. Read the reviews and rating so bf and I went to try it out. Food service was quick and waiter was nice and helpful. Food is great considering it’s not your regular Chinese fast food which I definitely enjoyed. Will definitely be back to try out their buffet option.
Gloria Yin
The most authentic Chinese restaurant in town! Love the food there and very friendly staff.
Andrew Hou
Large portions and delicious authentic Chinese food. The decor and restaurant itself is really nice as well, and the kitchen had our orders out quickly. If you're not sure what to order, the waitstaff will be happy to help you find something, service is fantastic!
Karen Wang
Decor is nice. When we were seated, they asked us if it was okay that the server would take maybe five minutes to get to us. I thought it was strange since five minutes is not considered absurdly long to let people look over a menu. But perhaps management has been reading some of the other reviews on this page... Our server today was fine, in my opinion.
We ordered the sliced pork belly, Shanghai soup dumplings (小籠包), and pan-fried pork buns (生煎包).
Soup dumplings had thick skin, but flavor-wise were pretty good. The pan-fried buns were yummy, but had a lot of liquid in them as well, similar to the soup dumplings, which surprised me. Pork belly was very nicely cooked, although I didn't personally prefer the vegetable mixture that was served underneath the meat.
30$ for two people, we were full and we took home about 1/4 of the pork belly dish. I'd come back. *shrug*
Corey Butler
First time visit. I waited 10 minutes, watching my food get cold while the employee behind the counter tried to process my payment. I made the order a couple of hours before, but apparently something was wrong with their computer. When I got home, I realized that I had been given the wrong order, even though he definitely had my name right while trying to straighten out the payment. I ordered Kung Pao chicken, fried rice, asparagus, and sesame balls. I received General Tso chicken, shrimp and pineapple fried rice, dumplings, chicken wings, and sesame balls. So almost the same. 😀 Anyway, it was not what I would have ordered, but it it was actually pretty good. I rate them 1 on customer service, 4 on the food, 5 for the humor of the situation, and 4 overall.
Breanne Pedretti
If you want authentic Chinese food, be sure to stop by Tea House. Honestly better than any other Chinese restaurant I have been to. Will definitely be returning!

Update of the update: we’ve been here several times during the winter/spring 2021 during Covid, and it’s been a godsend to enjoy their food again despite the price. The House Spicy Beef and Fish are great and the Pork in Garlic Sauce is so delicious. Still the best in the Twin Cities.
UPDATE: prices have been raised recently. The base dishes aren't worth $16 dollars each. The food is still good just not worth it for the price.
Original review: The Beef Noodle Soup (spicy) was delicious! Their Mei Zhou Fries Rice is also great. Don't order Americanized dishes here. Order the authentic food! It's so good.
E Yanng
Wooooow, this is my new favorite place! Probably my favorite Chinese restaurant in the twin cities. You should go here. I’m coming back to try the other food options. Great service too.
Sammer Elkhateeb
Absolutely delicious and authentic. Their eggplant in garlic sauce is unmatched — order a watermelon juice for the full experience. I would also suggest ordering their house beef roll. If I don’t visit them throughout the year, I always know where I’ll be on Christmas. Highly recommended.
Ell Erhart
Tea house is my top 5 favorite restaurants. If you want authentic food, this is the place! Perfect for a big family gathering with a lazy Susan table seating.
Their duck, tofu, pork belly garlic sauce, potstickers/dumpling and etc is so delicious 😋
Highly recommend it!
Bradley Batdorf
I love this place! There is a location in St. Paul closer to me, but I go out of my way to go to this location over the other one (I'll let you make your own assumptions as to why). The food is outstanding, and worth every dollar you pay them for it. I couldn't recommend a better Asian cuisine restaurant in the Minneapolis area. Thank you for providing such great service and food. Also, their menu is unbelievable. I've never seen such an extensive menu for meal items.
Samantha Hentig
Visited here today for lunch - wonderful and friendly service! Everything came out quickly and was so fresh and delicious! Highly recommend!
Kayla Seymour
Amazing food! Great menu from a selection of authentic food to more Americanized items. The price is more than great for the portions. They have a pick-up set up that is easy to work with and the staff are extremely nice!
W Angela
The food in this Chinese restaurant is very delicious.
Tiny Toad
Fantastic food, very poor service. Last time I went with my mother and grandfather we were never checked on until I specifically requested help. We were sat down, but nobody came to take our orders until I asked. When we ran out of water or were ready to pay and leave, nobody checked until I asked. Other than the poor service, the menu is diverse and delicious. They even make slight alterations to the meal if you ask, like substituting sauces or meats.
Kara Rheingans
Love this place for original Chinese food! Great choices and good food. This is the real deal. They have the ambiance, good service, cozy seating, romantic, quiet, culture, nice lighting, good for large crowds, families, couples, and just a quick bite at the bar. It is a must go!
Rachel
Delicious General Tso’s chicken. A couple dollars higher than other places but worth it. Pro tip: skip the door dash delivery and go pick it up. Saved us $25!! Excited to try more on the menu.
Ian Allen
Authentic Chinese cuisine with a fun atmosphere. Came with some friends on a week night—we arrived early and were seated in one of their great booths—complete with pillows to truly relax while eating. Despite being empty, by 6:00 it was totally full and bustling. While everything was good (great happy hour menu), the duck was the real standout. Deliciously crispy, it was also an incredibly hearty portion for only $16. Most restaurants in the area charge you $30+ when you order duck and you end up with a couple of slices of a duck breast. This place was great and I’ll definitely be stopping again sometime soon.
Judy
A beautiful restaurant. Elaborate detail in the interior so don't let the exterior fool you. You'll feel like you're time traveling or just traveling to China.
Nice restaurant features:
Self serve utensils in the private booths
Server Call Buttons in the booths.
Very cozy, traditional design in booths.
Rectangular and round table for groups.
Bar with stools for solo dining.
Items Ordered:
Dan Dan Noodles
Lazy Dragon
Serrano Chili Beef Soup
Mapo Tofu (I did not taste)
Dan Dan Noodles:⭐⭐⭐⭐
The price matches the portion. It's a nice size for small appetites. To me it felt like a kid's size version. See photo of chopsticks over the bowl as a reference. Flavors are delicious. You might feel a slight mouth numbing sensation if you're not used to the spices.
Lazy Dragon: ⭐⭐⭐
This is definitely an item to share with 2-3 people unless you love Lazy Dragon. Two pieces was all I would really want to taste. More of a Dim Sum side item. Soft and fluffy bun. Pork flavoring was good but the texture felt a bit drier than what was pictured in the menu.
Serrano Chili Beef Soup ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The distant family member of Pho. The beef was tender and the broth was delicious. Didnt need to add anything else but if you want to add chili oil, you can. Don't be intimidated by the "Serrano Chili", the kick is mild and cooked into the broth. We avoided eating a chili just in case.
Parking: Very limited as they have only one row of maybe 7 -10 max spots (including 2-3 of them being takeout only) Paid street parking is available.
Dehang Zheng
Very reliable and great quality every time. There's not many other options better than this around here for good Szechuanese cuisine. Sunday all day happy hour is a great option if you want to try various small portions of authentic dishes. I also heard the weekend brunch buffet is excellent too.
Morgan Kuphal
Fantastic food and great service! The atmosphere is neat and you can get seated in private booths which are great for talking to your table without having to raise your voice.
Leo is an abouslutely great server. He greets you warmly and always makes sure you needs are attended to even when it get very busy.
Aunt Mustard
Idk why but the food here us above and beyond the quality of others in the city
Chelsea McCay-Bachtiar
Really very good. It is expensive but if you have time to sit and enjoy or go to the buffet and take your time eating as much as you like than it will be worth it. Buffet is $20. Average dish is $15-16 so you will walk out spending at least 20 or more per person. Pretty busy on Sunday afternoon. All the food was piping hot and so tasty.
Frank Moreno
3rd time we eat here...twice prior to pandemic and now. Food is AMAZING! 1st time there was a long wait (Christmas day), but it was way worth it. Authentic Chinese and American Chinese selections are all delicious! Definitely going back. Thank you!
Jo Nelson
Food was good, wait time for food wasn't bad. Flavor was alright, big serving sizes but meat was a little rubbery. They seemed understaffed though, everyone around us and us as well were looking and waiting for what seemed like the only waiter working the front half of the restaurant.
W Moy
Surprised by the quality of the food and service. Lots of very good chinese food options in this area and this rates right there. Will be back.
Jason Ostenson
Tea House Minneapolis is fantastic. The food is delicious, meal size generous, the servers friendly and attentive, and ambiance is traditional! The turntable at the center of the larger tables makes it easy to share all dishes with friends at the table. The soup potstickers are a great starter, all six dishes we ordered were delicious, and the fried milk is everything one would want in a State Fair treat just not on a stick. Things to know, they share a parking lot with the neighboring hotel which is a little confusing and works out well as there is ample parking and the spiciness levels are based on MN don't cha know not New Orleans or even close to Thailand.
Ashley Xiong
Food is okay overall but with inconsistent quality depending on who the chef is that day. Service could be better for sure. Like today I called to order something for pick up. The Chinese lady who answered the phone clearly sounded unhappy for some reason (which was unprofessional). She said the dish I was trying to get was unavailable and then hung up on me before I could say thanks. Most of the servers are helpful when I dine in, I'll give them that.
Jennifer Ta
Delicious! You should try fried ice cream (at the top of the photo)!
Henry Nieberg
While the food could be a little spicier, every single dish I had ordered was packed with flavor. My favorite things on the menu were the house spicy pork and the dumplings. The food comes relatively fast, and even though it isn't the best Chinese I've ever had, it's the best I've had in Minnesota.
KZBay
Food was good. Had House beef roll and a pork belly dish, both were very good. Went here with the Baozi (pork buns) being my main focus. They were cooked perfectly just thought the pork needed more flavor. They came last because they are more complicated to make fresh than the other dishes I ordered so I was also pretty full by that time. So save room in your belly because they are filling. Will be back many times I'm sure. Wanted to try many things.
Pat Addy
The food is fine. It was really busy. My wife got served her food and finished. Then the server finally made his way over to us and I asked him where my food was. He said that they were busy and my sesame chicken and fried rice takes too long.
I told the manager who walks around with her purse on her shoulder throughout her shift and she said that they were busy.
The manager and busboy spilled all over the floor and didn't clean it up whatsoever ... scary.
Ahhhhhh..... ok
justin demike
I have friends that have worked in China. They say this is the only place in town that truly feels like dining in Beijing. They have a great weekend buffet style brunch that includes congee (rice porridge) you get to customize; classic pork buns, and surprisingly delicious savory stir-fried pancake to name a few. And staff is always friendly. It's like a mini vacation to China for your taste buds, you need to dine here!
T T
This is my favorite restaurant. High quality foods and great services . Every one in my family can find his or hers favorite dish. My son loves the Shanghai Pork Buns.
Brandon Voigt
The atmosphere here is casual, which makes for a good experience. Though, I wish the seating was more comfortable. The staff is friendly, especially if you're trying to practice your Chinese. The food is affordable and most dishes are rather good. I'm not a tofu fan, but the Kung Pao Tofu is very memorable to me. Same with the Shredded Pork in Garlic Sauce. Quantity is fulfilling. Definitely worth revisiting!
Patrick Kelly
This is true Szechuan Chinese. I've had many different things here but the House Spicy Pork or Beef (nice spice level) are my favorites. Very nicely decorated dining room and the people are always friendly. If you get appetizers and entrees, you'll have a nice amount to go.
The booths have a call button that alerts the staff that you need something. Like on an airplane.
Julie Maki
Seriously the most authentic Chinese food and experience I have had since living in Beijng years ago!
My husband and I even used our (rusty) Chinese with the owner and waiter.
I already can't wait to go back and try some more dishes!
Tyler Gardner
This is one of my favorite places to bring friends and family from out of town. I love the food. The Chongqing Chicken is amazing and mouth numbing in the szechuan way. I like going on Christmas day. The green beans are tasty. The kung pao tofu is a delight. The wings are crispy and well seasoned. Haven't had a bad experience and the food is always hot and fresh.
Marshall Mosiman
I've been here several times, and haven't had a bad experience yet. Most recently had the Shanghai pork buns and eggplant in garlic sauce, and was delightfully surprised by the dish's strength of flavor and balance.
Cal Jones
Absolutely excellent. Seriously, one of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had. Will absolutely return!! Thank you, Tea House!
Don MacLeod
Not your typical American Chinese food. Don't go in expecting what you think of as, "Chinese Food". That is not what you will get. Thank goodness. Way more beautiful to look at and oh my goodness, flavorful of all things. Everything doesn't smell or taste the same.
I have never had Kung Pao Tofu that tasted like this and I have eaten it all over the US. New flavors that I will be going back for, for sure. I highly recommend you try it out.
I hope to get back there soon and see what else is different from the normal "Chinese" fare.
Steve Rowell
What more could you want from an authentic Chinese restaurant?!? Tea House blew our expectations right out of the water! Having lived in Los Angeles and had countless meals at countless Chinese restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley, our bar for tasty is pretty high. Chengdu, Szechuan, Beijing styles all represented here at such a high quality. We will be coming here regularly as long as we call Minneapolis home.
Amy Trimbo
The best Chinese food and service I've had in a long time! Our waiter was very nice and helpful. Everything we ordered was spectacular- especially steamed pork buns, Lamb noodle soup, and scallion pancakes!
Robert Uhing
A very nice place with excellent food. The best hot and sour soup, as well as spicy fries. My serrano pepper beef was to die for, and a huge portion. My son lived his entree, as well. We will be back in town, a month from now. I think rhe TEA HOUSE will be a part of our visit.
Mike Shank
Be sure to park in designated spaces for Tea House not in Days Hotels spaces. Restaurant and hotel share parking lot but Tea House only has spaces along University road. Great food. We loved the Kung Pao Tofu (ask to kick up the spice if you prefer spicy. Mild as currently served) and the Garlic Eggplant. Harris provided excellent service. Nice booths for a bit more private dining. Nice rooms for small groups. Read the excellent menu descriptions. This is the real deal. Good drink selections. Late afternoon Happy Hour with appetizer and drink discounts.
charlotte hollander
We have gone here since right after they opened. Have tried many dishes from the menu that I have never had before, and they are always surpising, and quite delicious. My go to is the House Spicy Beef. Meat is so tender, and the broth haa just enough heat to kick a lil (it builds slowly).
Brianna
food is great! super busy and slow service, but prices are more than typical prices.
Jagnoor Singh
My favorite Chinese food place in Minneapolis. This place is amazing. The spicy beef tendon , Kung pao tofu and the best of all “the house spicy fish” are to die for...
I have searched everywhere, i searched up and down, i searched in and out... i searched high and low and middlish for a good Chinese food place in the twin cities and this place is by far the best of the best....
The staff is attentive and courteous.. they make great recommendations.
The drinks menu is awesome with wide selection of regular and rice wines and whiskies..
Dan DeBaun
Got some takeout from here yesterday. So good! Mongolian beef was excellent and the order was ready right on time. I also really enjoyed the pea shoots.
Ruthie Stein
First thing is the authenticity of the building design, furniture and of course the food. After studying in China, this place brings back many memories with their delicious food and atmosphere. Very good service I might add. If you're looking for a taste of China in Minneapolis, this is the place!
Nick Qiu
Best Chinese food in Minnesota. Super authentic and great portions. Please support your locally owned businesses!
Jonathan Lin
Tea House is a pretty authentic Chinese Restaurant. It gets really busy on game days and weekends. Be sure to come early or late. I love the chive chicken and beef noodle soup here.
They have weekend brunch buffet which is not bad too, but a little pricey for what it is.
Florence tran
The Tea House is one of my favorite places to go when I'm on the University of Minnesota campus. It's a nice place and there is plenty of parking for those of with cars! The food is also really good! Every time I'm here I always get the Scallion Pancakes and the Dan Dan Noodles, both are great! The lunch dishes are also pretty good as are the juicy buns!
Seeing as this is the Tea House, I would also like to recommend the tea! They have several different kinds but they are nice to combine with all of the yummy food!
Scott Minnesota
Whomever says great Chinese food can't be found in Minnesota has clearly never been to the Tea House. Food is excellent and our server was fantastic! She was awesome!
Scott Deyo
Food was delicious, service was slow. Server took over 15 minutes to acknowledge us and take drink orders, and kitchen was extremely slow. We have been before andhad not had the same experience. The food is worth the inconsistent service, just be warned.
Boundary Creek Moped Club
Tea House on University is my favorite for authentic Sichuan
I am always on the hunt for excellent Chinese cooking, this is it. Don't go here for sweet and sour or any Americanized dish. Staff is so courteous. Love love love this place
Deng Fodan
The performance of chefs there is not stable. Ordered same dish in different days, one is extremely delicious and the other is mehhhh...
Overall I would say I'm willing to take the chance to have lunch/dinner here because most of the time they have high quality appetiser, soup, entree, and beer options.
Still don't get a chance to try their Sunday morning Dim Sum yet. If I can wake up earlier I definitely will try.
It is in top 3 on my list of "places to go for a chinese meal" in Cities.
Steve Coughlan
"Bento box" option for lunch is a good sampler (and filling). Hot and sour soup came with it and was excellent (good heat without being fiery).
Greg “Bosco” Robinson
The Tea House serves wonderful meals. The menu has dishes which highlight several different regional Chinese cuisines.
The ambience is comfortable. The staff are all top notch.
Ryan Mahato
They have awesome food. I love the food no matter what I order. This is the place to go to have great food with your friends and family. But sometime you have to wait for little longer but it is worth.
T R
We have eaten here with Chinese friends and students from the U of M and we have never heard anything but positive comments. I try something different every time I come. But I also always get the beef rolls every time. I have yet to have anything bad and I am always blown away with flavor!! It is so delicious! You should give it a try.
Ben Polzin
Honestly the best Chinese food hands down in the twin cities. I dream about the Kung Pao Tofu & scallion pancakes. Also they have a beautiful pepperomia plant in the window that is seriously beautiful and impressive.
Mike McMahon
Food is fantastic! Great service! I had the House spicy pork, honestly the best Asian dish I have ever had!! Portions are huge!
Kitty Thao
Parking was confusing. It's a shared lot with a hotel. Food was ok. Dan dan noodle was nothing like what we expected. Fish was drenched in gravy. Gratuity was auto added for 2 people. Was going to tip, until we saw that it was already charged. Look at your bill before paying, as you may accidentally tip twice due to this. Probably won't be back.
Julie Beauvais
While the food tasted good, the service was not great during this visit. I was brought the wrong order and didn't receive my food until my friends were done eating. Also, we were not offered more water until after I was done eating and we had paid the check. I have always had good service, so I was very disappointed this time.
Logan Orr
I loved Tea House! The food was very authentic and delicious. I was visiting from out of town, and I would love to go back when I'm back in town!
Gordon S
Best authentic Chinese in the area. The Kudai lamb noodles are one of the best dishes in the city. If you come here and order orange chicken or whatever you are missing out.
Sarah Zieke
Work nearby and was craving quality Asian food. I tried the House Spicy Pork. It was delicious, beautiful, and only $9 (during lunch). The service was quick and great. Definitely coming back.
Jessica Long
We went here for dinner before going to the movies and the food was amazing. We got different items and ate family style. The service was great as well. I would definitely go there again!
Muhammad Khalifa
Forgot to take pictures because we were too excited to eat. Fantastic Chinese from many regions, although the Sichuan, Shanxi, and Shaanxi dishes were the highlight. Highly recommend the sesame-rich Sichuan cold noodles and the Sichuan dumplings.
Deb Miller
This was the absolute best Chinese food I've ever had! Amazing!!!
Robert Christiansen
Went to the Tea House in Stadium Village this morning for their Sunday brunch. It was packed as usual and the food was great, as usual. For authentic Sichuan cuisine, it can't be beat.
bill johnson
Great food. I couldn't stop eating the dish i ordered. A flavor explosion.
Thyra Lindberg-Wysocki
Best chinese in the Twin Cities. Authentic, delicious food in a nice and relaxing dining room. Yes, prices are higher than "chinese take out" but this isn't take out americanized chinese food so this makes sense. It's no more highly priced than a typical italian restaurant and I don't know why people assume chinese food HAS to be cheap.
B K
To be honest, feel very jealous for UM students who can go there whenever they want. For me, I drove over three hours for having lunch there and came back in the same day. I guess that is enough to prove how amazing the food is. Poor me!
Amber Grajkowski
I love this place! The staff is so friendly and the food is excellent. I highly recommend Sweet and Sour Chicken and their Lo Mein. We visit here often. The atmosphere is very relaxing. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Thomas Handorf
This place is just the best! Great interior and lovely decorations. The food is so damn good! The prices are very great and the portion size is big to bigger.
Paul Weimer
My favorite Chinese restaurant in the Twin Cities
Faz
Food taste was excellent. Portion size were impressive. However bathroom need attention as well as the front desk. More attentive reception goes a long way. 4/5.
Demcie Mesteth
Great food, great atmosphere. The waitstaff is patient and attentive. The menu is set up a little differently but everything was delicious!
Annette J
Good food. Very friendly staff
Angela Norris
Great food! Wonderful atmosphere but service is a little slow...not enough to stop me from coming even during lunch hours. Quality food is everything and they definitely deliver.
Robert Wicks
I was craving DanDan noodles and theirs fixed the craving. The Tea House is one of the most authentic Chinese cuisines in Mpls/St.Paul area. You won't be disappointed
kristin anderson
$16 brunch had a wide variety of legit food. A couple Americanized options were available for the shy. Everything was well labled and delicious. It was a full house for Sunday brunch... rightfully so.
Noah Harber
Always good. I like the booths along the back too. Cool enclosed feeling. Traditional lo mein, orange chicken, and Pekin style pork are my favorites.
Chicken Dumpling
There are two things that I will focus on when making restaurant selections: 1. Is it authentic? 2. Is the environment good and representing the culture?
1: As a Chinese, I am being 100% honest to say that Teahouse offers authentic Chinese food, some dishes are even better than what I've tried in China. It is not your "American-Chinese" food restaurant , so it might not be a good choice if you are only looking for "orange chicken" or "kongpao chicken" etc. If you don't want to try anything that sounds weired like pork chitterlings, pork feet, or couple's beef slices, that will be a pity because thoses dishese definitely tasted way better than it sounds. However, I will recommed a dish that sounds really normal but tastes surprisingly good-- "Meizhou Fried Rice", proven by all of my American friends.
2: The environemnt. This the place where I will choose when I need to host a meal for my friends, boss, guests etc. It is well decorated and has lots of interesting details. The curtain to give your privacy; the names above the rooms are real locations from Beijing; historical Chinese costume piece like chairs, room decorations and even the restrooms.
In a nut shell, it is a restaurant I will highly recommend for everybody. This is the place where you could have a taste of Chinese culture or carry on those memories in China.
mitchell byers
Their kudai lamb noodle bowl is the best on a chilly fall day. The chunks of meat in the thick broth is savory and has the perfect amount of spicy.
Brandon Honeck
Great quality food, great staff. Their brunch buffet is amazing during the weekends. Interior atmosphere is nice. Highly recommend checking this place out.
Kristel 'Owlsneeze'
Fabulous Garlic Pork and it was the most flavorful Beef and Broccoli I've ever had!
Jack Carlson
I've loved this place since I was a kid!!! Amazing food, great atmosphere and phenomenal people. Egg rolls are a must, as well as the Szechuan Dumplings.
Yuriy Maksymovych
Delicious, great variety, most items on the menu have pictures, and the service was fantastic! The prices might seem a little steep but the portions are generous and the flavour is exceptional.
Elizabeth Alexander
Fantastic food across the board. Favorites include the schezuan beans and house beef roll. So good, you have to experience it!
Jeffrey Bauers
I have only have takeout from the Tea House. I got the General Tso chicken and it was very delicious. It was a very large portion, and I would say well worth the price.
Paxia Her
Great flavorful dishes! May be a little heavy on the sodium at times, but the rice helps. Must gets are the serrano pepper beef, chive chicken and pork belly with garlic.
Anuj Abhishek
Great food! The eggplant curry is awesome as is kung Pao tofu. Top it off with a pot of flavoured tea and you will have been in food heaven!
C B
Great taste! Authentic Chinese food.
matt diamond
Delicious food as always, truly one of the best lunch spots around.
Timothy Stodola
Really good flavors, reminded my friends of real Chinese food. Only negative was some dishes I expected to be spicier. Overall great experience.
M K
Snack was awesome! Little pricey but worthy to try.
J Sweds
Best Chinese I've found in Minneapolis and the west suburbs. The Kung Pao and Chicken in Garlic Sauce, as well as the beef lo mein, are great if you like spice.
Paj Dawb Yaj
The dishes are very traditional and will light up your taste buds. I would recommend tea with your meal.
Ywh Krgb
Great service, delicious food
Andrea Backes
I am not a huge fan of Tea House. Nice decor, ambiance, but the food is not great. They have a large, varied menu- but for the lunch specials you get a lot of grease and sugar.
Arielle Ehrlich
Food was ok but very greasy. Made a reservation for Sunday night for a party of 5. They couldn't find the reservation and sat us in a 4 person booth. It was a little frustrating and didn't need to be that complicated.
Steve Lauterbach
Tea House had been our favorite Chinese restaurant since we've lived in the Twin Cities and it never disappoints! The Kung Pao Chicken is the best I've ever had!
Renee Minyard
Incredibly authentic dishes. House fish is amazing. The spicy chicken wings are a surprise!! Probably my favorite wings ever!!!
Juhaan Johar
Definitely my most favorite place for real Chinese food! Reminds me of my summer in Beijing :) This is my happy place! Try their Sichuan shredded pork and house spicy pork
Michael Kollar
This is best Chinese food in area.
Michael Xu
Came here back in March and I was seriously impressed by the selection and authenticity of the food. The buffet felt very homey and is definitely a step up from typical asian buffets.
Quentin Vaterlaus
Good food and lots of it. Had the duck and it was tasty, but not much more than protein. Wish they would have warned me about that... Would have gotten something else had I known. Still delicious
Andrew Biancini
My go-to Chinese restaurant. One of the only reasonably authentic restaurants in town. Don’t come here for your lo mein or kung pao chicken. They have big pictures in the menu, be adventurous for once.
Kellie Wilson
This place has been completely revamped. Suitable for business and date nights or mornings. Full variety of freshly prepared dumplings. Pure Szechuan heaven!
Michael Kipper
Authentic. Tasty. Amazing. Absolutely the best Chinese food in Minneapolis. I recommend the Sesame Chicken, steamed buns and Kung Pao Chicken.
Aaron League
I had a good experience here. The food was good, and the atmosphere was even better. The decor to food price ratio was pretty good, making this a good restaurant for semi-formal dinners or moderately priced dates.
UltraDew
Ordered Crispy Fish - WOW - best thing I have eaten in a long time!
Super crispy and spicy.
Would highly recommend.
Garrett Anderson
All around solid for authentic and classic American Asian dishes. Can't go wrong and the service is excellent!

Pranay Sheela
Awesome experience. Amazing food.
Eric Majerus
Very good Chinese food. Popular with native Chinese so it isn't Americanized. Our wait was excessive for walkin but considering it was a Friday night that should be expected without reservation.
Chris Chen
Good environment but it's a bit pricey.
Thom Dieterich
The food is most authentic you’ll get in the Midwest, the service is timely, and the staff is a pleasure.
Tea House never (NEVER!) fails to deliver a great experience.
eli nord
The food was top notch however the service was bad. The wait staff was very nice but extremely untimely and we ate here on a Tuesday night with not much business. The food gets all three stars here.
Joe Webb
This place has good Chinese food. We normally go with the sole fish and pea tips. Over all, good quality with good service.
Parry
A little on the pricey side. Soups have a little too much msg put in them. But overall, relatively authentic, good menu. A go to spot for chinese food
Stanze Smith
Amazing food. Decent prices and a perfectionist atmosphere for all sorta of meetings, fun times out. Good on your own or in groups
Anika Duckwall
Excellent walleye and friendly service.
tamara hayes
Kick ass food and a lovely environment. Plus one of 2 places in twin cities that can make a mojito. A couple of appetizers and 1 entree for 2 people was plenty.
Heather Bartishofski
The used to be extreme good, but not as good as before now. Still like it though, but I definitely can taste the difference
Charles Vittitow
Food is a step above the typical Chinese fair here in the states. Service decent.
Tate Fontenot
Amazing food but make sure if you can't eat spicy food you tell them that.
The spice ruins the flavor, bit the food is amazing.
Christine Merle
Fresh and tasty. Best visit in a few years. Previously felt it was going downhill in service and quality but this visit was much improved.
Peter Neill
The staff are great, the food was so good and the portion size was way huge. but it could use more detail on cleanliness.
Derek Nelson
Got takeout from here one evening before a gopher football game. Mongolian beef. It was delicious but pricier than other nearby asian restaurants.
jenica green
I mean it’s really good , food is flavorful and the server was very nice but the food got me sick.
Yousif Del Valle
Great food but....
Always check your order in store if you order carry out or you'll be disappointed and upset when you get home. Happened more than a couple of times
