Delicious and authentic Jamaican food. Super fast and fresh. The plantains are a MUST try! They double as a dessert. The braised ox tail was savory, rich, and the sauce was amazing. The Jamaica pastries were also hot, fresh, crispy, and flavorful. Amazing for takeout and catering. They have an open garage door to let in fresh air from the street.

I had a wonderful time here. I saw someone eating the oxtail and I knew I had to have to and what a treat it was. I spent almost an hour savoring the bones and then ordered the jerk chicken and beef patty to wash it down. I seated myself outside ,the weather was perfect and some locals gave me company, which is always a plus especially when you are traveling alone.

Pimento truly is a staple for authentic Jamaican food. I visited on a day when they had fried fish as the daily special. The fish had crispy skin and a juicy interior packed with flavor. The One Love Special contained spicy jerk chicken, pork, plantains and coconut rice. Everything was tasty and it had plenty of heat too (did not take away from the experience). I will have to sample the rum bar on a future visit. Pimento Jamaican Kitchen is solid and worth a visit for great food and atmosphere.

Date night for some Jamaican cuisine! We made reservations for the Mpls location, and they have an awesome patio space. My husband had the jerk pork and I had the jerk chicken, both were delicious, but the pork was more moist. The spice level was enough to make our noses run, but not too spicy that we couldn't enjoy the flavor. Great rice and peas, which are my favorite. We'd definitely go back, the service was fast, I don't think we waited 5 minutes before our entreês arrived.

Good eats wings, beef patties. The rice and peas could of been a tab bit more seasoning for my taste but over all pretty good. The ambiance was perfect. We watched live band reggae music my fave. Very nice chill spot.

The food is so good here. There was no wait. The best Curry chicken I’ve tasted so far at a Jamaican restaurant. The food has lots of flavor. You get a large portion of food. This was my first stop when I made it to Minnesota. I always like to eat at Jamaican restaurants when I visit different cities and states.

Had the One Love, the Jerk pork was good, but I thought the Jerk chicken was a bit dry and lacked seasoning. Rice and fried plantains were good though. The Kingston kick sauce wasn't too bad either. Would love to try the bone in Jerk chicken next time.

oxtail and it was AMAZING. The meat fell off in the best way ever, cooked very well. I could also only eat their fried plantains for the rest of my life if I could. Hands down the best fried plantains I’ve had! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and finesse was kind to explain to me the most tasty meal on the menu and she recommended the braised oxtail and the curry goat which both were delicious! It has me wanting more so I’ll definitely be back! If you like karaoke, they have karaoke on Wednesdays and they also have a hookah and Afrobeats music on Fridays that’s a whole vibe! I highly recommend this restaurant!!

I stopped there and got my food quickly which was great. I got the goat curry and the flavor was great. I enjoyed the juice mixed with the rice and beans. My less than stellar rating is due to the poor quality of meat. As you can see in my photo there was a ton of bone (everything in the photo is either bone or gristle). I am totally okay with picking through some bones but this was 75% bone. It was hard to take a bite and enjoy the meal without running into a large chunk of bone. Another random gripe is the slaw. What I got was just chopped cabbage with some carrot sticks and no seasoning at all. I do not think that can pass for slaw honestly. I have eaten here in the past and enjoyed it but today I was just unimpressed.

Family run place with some classics and some new entries. I got the curry chicken and it was tender, juicy, boldly spicy but never heavy or too much. Rice and beans were also soft and flavorful. I will come back to try the other options. Nice patio and indoor space.

I would like to come back and try dine-in next time. I ordered take out for inauguration day (Jamaican in honor of Kamala Harris). I really enjoyed my food, and the jerk chicken was sweet and spicy, the rice and beans were delicious and flavorful, and I absolutely loved the plantains. It was mostly delivery drivers in the restaurant so the service was a bit short, but I would be happy to try dine-in.

The food is DELICIOUS. I ordered a Jamaican chicken when I found out they were out of the usual beef and I was not disappointed AT ALL. The seasoning on the wings was excellent although they were pretty well done (extra crispy?). Over all will be back, looking forward to trying the goat curry!

Pimento catered a work event for us and the food was fabulous!! The owner did our delivery and served our group of employees. We had the pork, chicken, curried vegetables, island slaw, sweet plaintains and variety of sauces. I LOVE that Kingston Kick!! We will use them for future events.

This place is so fun! The prices are an amazing value and the food is delicious. I especially enjoyed the braised Ox Tail, the sauce was amazing. The Jamaican pulled pork was also delicious. The plantains are almost like desert, (but they come with the meal!) I will definitely be returning

This is a great venue for entertainment and Jamaican food. There is a fee that you have to pay if you want to eat outside and not in the place itself where it is $15. I got the all special that came with chicken,plantain and ,beans. It was my fist time visiting here. I love the culture around this place and the customer service was great. I adore this place! Club on one side and phenomenal food on the other. I have had their bowls a few times and they never disappoint. Can't wait to see a show on their stage in the back of the restaurant. The bartender could have been more attentive but small issue in the big scheme of fun I had there.

Absolutely delicious! The slow roasted jerk pork with a side of sweet plantains is definitely worth trying. The Minnesota Nice is a really good sauce to go with it. I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try.

Amazing food all around. Their jerked pork and chicken are some of the best I've ever had and their rice and beans seal the deal. They also have a nice selection of Jamaican sodas. I highly recommend the pineapple ginger soda. I found them through my work using them to cater lunch and had to come their restaurant to try it fresh. It was worth it and I look forward to coming back many times again

The food was great, though it was eclipsed by the terrible service. I was given an initial prep of 45 minutes. I spotted them an extra 15 minutes and showed up an hour after I placed the order....only to find that it wasn't ready yet. They weren't busy at all, it was quite slow. More time passed, the cashier checked on my food, it was done and she handed it to me. I get most of the way home and discover that they forgot one of the meals. I drive back, the cashier waits on three customers before acknowledging me. When she does I am told that she just refunded the forgotten meal to my card. She admitted that no attempt was made to call me. She seemed to think this was a perfectly fine resolution to our dilemma. I pointed out that I still had a hungry mouth to feed and bought another meal. The service was terrible, even after making a mistake there was no follow through. I spent almost a hundred dollars here and tipped and I just don't feel good about this meal. I can't give Pimento's my money again. The food was great though.

Went here two times and my waitress was beyond rude. I had the same waitress both time. We Understood she was pregnant .but she threw our food at us both time i went rushed our order. Never once gave the food directly to me bu would sit on the edge of the opposite part of the table. She seemed to be nice to everyone but us.mind you the first time we went it was my birthday. The second time i went with my male friend who was Patted down before entering. but nobody else was... first meal was fantastic even though the service was trash the second time I went service even worse but nothing we ordered to eat had any Flavor . First time FINALLY trying Pimento. Do you want something that is different? Do you want something that is a collision of great flavors? Do you want a new restaurant on your regular rotation? Look no further!! One love was amazing and order a few extra sauces so you can dial in your flavor happiness! Also the plantains were yum yum. I can’t believe it but I never leave these sorts of reviews. And all along it’s across from Khunai Thai, the best Thai in the city!

Affordable, authentic, amazing Jamaican dishes. A local favorite in the busy uptown area. Make sure your meal has plantains (it will), because they are de-LISH. Kick back and enjoy your meal. WARNING : even the neutralizer (no kick) sauce was spicy, IMO.

Really wanted to try Pimento's, was looking forward to trying some West Indian food in Minneapolis. The reviews were good, so I made the long walk down Eat Street to try them out. I love a good, spicy jerk pork, so I was leaning towarwds that. The server was really friendly and helpful. Told me they had won twice on the Food Network, so my expectations were even higher. The One Love Special with two choices also piqued my interest, and on server's recommendation, I tried it. I was surprised to see that boneless chicken was cheaper than bone-in. Wasn't sure if it would be dark or white meat, but took a chance. The meals come with a choice of sauces. When I couldn't decide, the server brought me a sample of each, along with some jerk pork. I chose the Kingston Kick It. The portion was generous and the jerk tender. I wasn't expecting pulled pork, it was tender and mildly spiced. I prefer a hotter jerk, sliced and not shredded. I'd recommend adding shredded to the description. I found the chicken a bit dry (white meat), the rice was nice, and the fried plantains really good. The ginger beer was awesome - hot and gingery. Overall, the food was fine, but not the wow I was expecting.

It was a nice chill spot. I went to celebrate a friend's birthday. They had some really good music, and the food was good as well. There was a $10 cover charge to get in, but they stay open until 2 am and the kitchen stays open late as well. It was a nice vibe, and I'd definitely go again.

This place is soooo delicious!!! There are some off menu wings called Jamecia Wings and they are fried and spicy but cinnamon like and so good with the jerk ranch, rice and beans, curry veggies, plantains and beef patties. I always get a pink ting to drink and the pecan cobbler is so good. The jerk chicken, oxtails and the goat are good and light. The rum bar next door makes some good rum punch and the waitresses are friendly and fast. The environment is super friendly and I always meet new people there as well as dance non stop!!! They have an outside area but I haven’t enjoyed it yet. It looks nice and people are out there all the time but it’s too cold for me coming from the south. I will be back. I could eat here everyday.

I had the vegan veggie curry with the spiciest sauce and it was awesome. My husband loved the jerk chicken and Jamaican patty and my son loved the coconut rice and beans and the plantains. The portions are generous and the spice descriptions accurate. Note that the prices are higher on delivery services probably to make up for the fee- we were fine with that for the convenience but if you live near there picking it up yourself is a lot cheaper. Definitely recommend!

We went here specially for oxtail since my husband is Jamaican and loves this dish. I had specially called the restaurant to check with them if it will be available and when. They confirmed that the best time to get it is post lunch rush around 2 pm. Hence we planned our visit accordingly. We got there and found this chillaxed laid back kinda set up with the Carib beats as we expected. Placed the order for oxtail and 15 minutes later we were presented samples of got curry because oxtail wasn’t ready. The goat curry wasn’t bad at all, but our minds were set on oxtail hence we decided to wait. And another 20 minutes later our dish arrived. I would say we have had a lot better oxtail at other places and the price we paid for the meal wasn’t worth it at all.

You'll have to go early because they run out of food. And for good reason. All the meat on the menu is filling and hearty, and it can be as spicy as you want because they let you pick a sauce to have on the side. It's all paired with beans/rice and these super sweet plantains which balance out the smokey flavor of the meat perfectly. One of the best spots on Eat Street.

This is a great little spot for tasty Jamaican fare and a chill vibe - my daughter and I were looking for Caribbean late afternoon and found Pimento. We ordered curry chicken (which came with beans and rice, butter-fried plantain, and a little side of island style coleslaw). We also ordered a veggie pattie to share. The food was hot, fresh, and savory with great sauce choices (we picked the moderately spicy “MN Nice”) and served up with generous portions. An added bonus was the conversation with the north minneapolis ¨born-to-drum¨ guy who served up our meal with humor and zest for life that was a great match for our lively food. We will be back!

My first time having dinner at Pimento was decent. I enjoyed the rum punch better than the vegetable curry dish. I would have loved to taste more spice in the curry. It was very bland. The side of jerk sauce was VERY Spicy. You literally only need a "panch" which is smaller than a pinch. I'm not a huge spice person so if something is bland to me, then it's going to be super bland to those who like more spice. The bar side is off the chain. The DJ was playing old school hip-hop. We had a great time and I will definitely be back to try another dish along with the yummy rum punch.

Good stuff! Loved the atmosphere; they had the garage doors open since it was nice out and reggae music playing. I had the jerk chicken and rice with the Minnesota Nice sauce (very little kick) on the side. Nice sized portions. Chicken was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I especially love the plantains on the side...sweet and savory. The Jamaican patties were pretty good and flavorful. Order it all with a refreshing Ting!

We got takeout due to covid, though I would have loved to visit the location and try the rum bar. The food was out of this world! I cannot rave about the One Love bowl I got enough - the rice was so tasty and the slow cooked pork and chicken was honestly beyond words. My friend liked the Oxtail and the sauces were just as incredible. Highly recommend and honestly mad I haven't ordered from here before.

Wpuld say 3.5 stars if possible, for 3 primary reasons. 1) Although the food is pretty consistently good, it has certainly decreased in quality since I started dining here ~3-4 years ago. The sauces are still very good (sometimes often forgotten on delivery orders) and the plantains are still really good 9 times out of 10, but the chicken quality and portion sizes have both decreased. 2) The staff is hit or miss, either very friendly and smiling or short, temperamental, and "dont wanna be here" type of attitude. VERY disrespectful phone service the past few times I have called. 3) The general aesthetic and exlerience dining in is usually quality, and although I have not been to the Jamaican bar side of things my friends and I have never had an all-around sub-par experience here.

Pretty good, however it needs the sauce for flavor! We tried the One Love Special and beef Jamaican Patty (fairly spicy). Coconut rice was tasty. Definitely try the Jerk Ranch and MN Nice sauces! We’re glad they’re in our neighborhood!

Words do not describe how much I love this place. The employees are always welcoming and kind. The food is always flavorful and delicious. I normally get the one love special which is beyond tasty. It comes with a couple plantains which are cooked perfectly. The sauces are spicy (for Minnesota) but not overpowering. I have eaten here about 10 times in the past year and just cannot get enough.

Spicy beef patties were on point, curry chicken was tender and fresh- my partner had the bone in jerk chicken and jerk pork with the kill dem wid it sauce and, while definitely super spicy, had amazing flavor! On a street stuffed full with a surfeit of different restaurants, Pimento caught the eye with it's colors (both in the building and on the back of the food truck outside). It's a simple restaurant with counter service, but the things it does are all done exceedingly well. Between the Boneless Jerk Chicken and the vegan Curry Vegetables, we were blown away by the food. Head out into the backyard to listen to live reggae music in the courtyard! Grab a jar of sauce for thr road! The staff were all very friendly, conversational, and helpful. I'd absolutely recommend Pimento to anyone.

The closet match to the food I enjoyed in Jamaica. I appreciated the sauces that can adjust the amount of spice such as: Neutralizer, Minnesota Nice, Jerk Ranch, Kingston Kick or Kill Dem Wid it. Tasty foods, but the price is kinda steep for what you get considering the food is steam table style. Also portions are on the smaller side, but substantial if you get a mains and an extra side. I've eaten food from pimento twice before and enjoyed the food. Today however I found what seemed to be a nail clipping or claw of some sort, some string of plastic, and a hair in the food. Kinda gross and off putting.

I recently started going to Pimento for carry-outs after having not tried them but once when they first opened. I must say I have enjoyed my meal each time. They seem to have gotten better then when they first opened. I have only tried the Boneless Jerk Chicken which comes with rice, slaw and plantains, each of which are delicious. Glad to see a Jamaican restaurant in Minnesota! Had the one love (pork and chicken) bowl. The sides with the bowl we're delicious (coleslaw and plantains). I eat here 3 times a week, but you got 1 person working and 2 others chatting and doing nothing while the line goes out the door. Went to the Pimento Jamaican Kitchen last week with co-workers for an event. The atmosphere was very relaxed. The wait staff was very friendly and the food was extraordinary. The owner came out to welcome us and make sure everyone was taken care of. I can't wait to go back!

Tried this restaurant out randomly one evening. Felt like we had stepped into the Caribbean. The chicken curry and Jamaican patties were awesome! There was a little mix up in our order but the staff got it corrected and got us a couple free drinks for the hassle. Good food, good service, fun ambiance. I'll be back for sure!

I love this place. I consider their food comfort food. Amazing on a cold day, just right on a hot summer day. I also appreciate that everything with the exception one hot sauce and the few ala carte bread items, everything is GF. Their staff is great, three place is clean. The only thing they could benefit from is not having slippery marble in their entry way and more tables.

First time trying it after delivering from there for bite squad. Great food! Unique flavors. Seating was kinda weird and was a little chilly on a cool, rainy fall day. Live music was cool to have but as also a bit loud. Almost would've wished to have a door between the car and seating area. Cool space overall, would recommend checking out.

Got the boneless jerk chicken to share with my SO. At essentially $5 per person it was a great deal. Perfectly cooked and seasoned chicken. Lightly sauced, crispy slaw. Good service. Nice atmosphere.

Awesome flavors and great service! Got the Kingston style chicken and it was so flavorful. Tried the slow-roasted pork as well and that was fantastic. The meat is cooked very well and the sauces are fun. I really liked how the staff gave us samples of all the sauces, we got to taste all of them before ordering. Really great customer service. Would totally recommend!
