Reviews of Ono Hawaiian Plates
Christopher Robinson
What a wonderful surprise to find this restaurant in North Loop! I’ve wanted to find some great Hawaiian food in the area for a long time, and they went above and beyond! Had some amazing loco moco (with spam, because obviously) and the mac salad and kalua pork was delicious! Before I finished my meal I was already thinking about the next time I could come back! Highly recommended!!!
Lauren Tennant
I love this place. The katsu and BBQ chicken combo comes with rice and a scoop of Mac salad which is super creamy and delicious. It's enough to feed two people at a very affordable price. I always look forward to exploring their menu. All their sauces are really good, my personal favorite is the soy honey mustard.
kaceyvu
Pretty decent food with fair pricing. Out of what we ordered, my favorite was the poke. Not on the same level - in terms of flavor) as what I got in Hawaii.

It's not often that you're served food that looks EXACTLY as pictured online, but with Onos, you get what you see. We got there early on a Saturday and the food was served fast. The pork and the teriyaki chicken stood out to us-- the katsu was well made but nothing special I thought the Mac salad was a little bland, but the sauces saved the day with spectacular flavor. The servings are generous for the price point; it would be easy for 2 to share a meal. Cool venue and worth a visit; it definitely made me nostalgic for another trip to Hawaii.

This is one of my go-to dinner spots in the north loop at the galley! I usually get the regular Katsu plate but the tuna poke is also really good. Katsu curry is okay - there is a little too much curry for my taste / it’s more of a heavy meal, but if you’re starving, that might be a better choice.
The Mac salad is my favorite side here - it’s SO good and I usually get an extra side of it to take home and eat later for next day lunch. Service is great - super quick and efficient and the prices are solid for the large portions that you get.

This place was amazing!! I tried the Japanese style vegetable curry and it was sooooo good!! I also tried the hurricane fries, also amazing! Also very reasonably priced! Will definitely be going back! Also shout out to Keven who made our food!! He is the best! Everyone at Ono seemed very nice!!! Also the macaroni salad was bomb!!
Phillipe P.
Authentic, family owned Hawaiian DELICIOUSNESS!!! Staff is friendly & food tastes fresh. We tried the short ribs, pineapple rice, katsu chix & are definitely coming back to try the other items on the menu.
Chris Valenty
The best Hawaiian food in the Twin Cities!! Just as good as any restaurant in Maui & Kauai! Everything on the menu is delicious, our new favorite is the Garlic Shrimp & Kalbi Short Ribs.
Mariah Lowinske
Took me right back to my childhood with the katsu Loco Moco! That flavor on the breaded chicken plus OMG on that pasta salad was so GOOD!!! Something initially I didn't like about the gravey but in the end the meal was filling and most importantly satisfying with every bite. Worth another trip or two or three! 🥰 ps. The spam sushi also surprisingly good 😮 😋 😍
Aleksandra Jeffrey
Tried this place finally, and we loved everything. The slow roasted pork, and chicken katsu loco moco were great. We also tried the spam masubi. Everything was very delicious

Really happy we came here for dinner! It is across from our AirBnb. Location is awesome and there are other restaurants in the same building (food hall) so everyone in your party is happy…however…everyone in your party will leave HAPPY and STUFFED eating at Ono Hawaiian Plates.
I lived in Hawaii for awhile and these are authentic Hawaiian plates. Katsu chicken was bomb, loved the Kalua pork. Mac salad was great and not too mayonnaise-y.
Give this place a try! A serious bang for your buck! Easily can share a plate between 2 people

Came here for lunch. Located in the north loop galley. We had the loco moco and kalbi short ribs. Delicious! Mahalo nui loa 🌺🤙
Ka
Yum! A hidden gem for those who actually love Hawaiian comfort food. Top notch quality in a very unusual location but delicious nonetheless. My only suggestion is to add an a la carte section so we can try a bit of everything without having to purchase an entire combo. Mahalo!
Jill Dahlke
Very friendly staff. Food came out before we sat down. Got the poke deuce love the spice. One bowl fed two of us very full.
J Bright
Friendly staff, timely prep, good food. My last trip some additional side sauces I had ordered were forgotten which made me sad but other than than that, it was on point.
Emily Lu
Friendly staff and so many good choices and all are delicious! Can't wait to try the poke bowl next time!
Katie Knauer
Amazing food!! Fresh quality ingredients, put together with care. We got the Hawaiian Ahi Poke Bowl & the Katsu & Hawaiian BBQ Chicken Combo. The BBQ chicken was the most tender thing I've ever tasted, and rice was cooked to perfection!
The Ahi was fresh and melt in your mouth. The rice however was a bit over seasoned/very salty but still delicious.
Rebeca Ho
Come hungry because Ono Hawaiian Plates is generous with their portions. Very tasty food in the North Loop!

Hawaiian food is something MN doesn't get a lot of so I'm happy to see this place to try out! We got the chicken katsu, Hawaiian fried rice, and the shirt ribs & shrimp plate. The chicken katsu was juicy and moist, but lacked salt for my taste.. I wasn't a huge fan of the sauces, but I would order it with the Japanese style curry next! We liked the Hawaiian fried rice--it was good, but lacked salt too. And our favorite was the short ribs and shrimp! The shrimp was well cooked and the ribs were well seasoned. We didn't care for the Mac Salad as much. Overall, food was well cooked with some flavor. Would revisit and add more salt!

Heard about the $3 spam musubi, and felt I should try it. It did not disappoint. I normally like ham, bologna but don't really have spam very often, So I was a little wary. This was such a good bite and worth the stop! I had a day in Minneapolis and went here as a stop. Had to hit it again on the way out of town too. Your taste buds will thank you later. Go there.
Joan L
Absolutely love this place! I find excuses to go hang out in the North Loop just to have an opportunity to have lunch here! Having been to Hawaii numerous times, this is a stellar culinary spot in MN! My favorites are the pork with teriyaki chicken plate and the ahi tuna with pork bowl. Absolutely delicious meats, juicy and flavorful.
Geno R
I got the chicken teriyaki and it’s absolutely delicious. It takes like the one I had as a kid growing up in Asia.
Harris Kleyman
I’ve been drooling at Ono’s Instagram for months and finally realized it was down the street from work. Tried it, and was NOT disappointed. The flavors on everything from the marinade to the sauces were fantastic. Highly recommend and will be going back this week. Quick service, fair pricing, and great quality. The grilled chicken with teriyaki sauce was a favorite.

There’s a reason why this place is practically 5 stars. It’s one of the only restaurants that opened when the Galley first opened and it’s the only one still here through the pandemic. The owner keeps the hawaiian food simple and delicious. Ived ordered 100+ times and each time the meal is superb. They are only place where you buy spam masubi. This place definitely can become a weekly meal, without getting bored.
Noah Thompson
I was so excited to give Ono Hawaiian Plates a try and it definitely lived up to the hype! I tried four different meals and all of them were fabulous! Thank you Ono for bringing a slice of Hawaii to the Twin Cities!
Ruby Dang
I’ve heard a lot about Ono from my friends that the reason why I had to check them out. From the traditional Hawaiin plates that are served with rice and creammete noodle pasta salad. The dishes were tasty and with large portion. The Kahlua and Katsu combo was perfect, crunchy yet tender. The Miso chicken and pork Kahlua pork was on point as well, sweet and tender. The service was prompt and pleasant. Will come back!
Alice Lor
This place is consistently good. They were also able to accommodate my same-day request for a family pack meal. Ono Hawaiian Plates is one of our family’s go-to restaurants.
Mariam Rehman
Ever since I heard that a Hawaiian restaurant was opening in Minneapolis I have been so excited to try it! I grew up on the West Coast and ended up trying a variety of different Hawaiian food when I lived there.
I ended up trying the BBQ Chicken + Chicken Katsu combo. I was expecting the BBQ chicken to be doused in more soy sauce or flavor but it was plain grilled chicken. It was still good - especially dipped in the teriyaki dipping sauce - but not as flavorful as I expected. Not much salt. Same could be said for the Katsu. The breading texture was great but again - not much salt or flavor. It was still great for a healthier take on Hawaiian food but I think I was expecting it to have more teriyaki or soy flavor - just based on the Hawaiian food I have tried before. Maybe I just didn't order the right item? Regardless the amount of chicken was huge ! An easily shareable serving.
The 2 scoops of rice were delicious - perfect sticky rice and felt comforting. I had plenty to go with the chicken.
The mac's consistency and texture was great - but again, it wasn't very salty as typical Hawaiian mac that I have tried. I also felt like the scoop was tiny compared to the portions of everything else.
There were three dipping sauces - Katsu (which tasted like ketchup), Teriyaki, and Soy Honey Mustard. The Honey Mustard had a strong wasabi-like flavor. The Katsu just tasted like ketchup. The Teriyaki was my absolute favorite. In fact, I wish I got 3 containers of the Teriyaki because it amped up the flavor of the chicken tremendously. Where the food lacked salt, the Teriyaki sauce made up for it.
I would order from here again and try something else next time but my honest advice would be to increase the salt / spices for the chicken in this plate. And perhaps increase the soy/teriyaki sauces also. I think this small improvement can make a huge difference!
Kim Larsen
Food was JUST LIKE HAWAI'I! The North Loop Gallery as venue is pretty loud, tho. Impossible to hold a conversation without shouting. I'd go back for the food anyway.
David Neubarth
Excellent food at a fair price. Earlier this year we visited Kauai and fell in love with their cuisine. This food took us back to the island in the middle of a mn winter
Kelsie Mercer
This place is delicious! 100% authentic! The food came out fast and hot. Very generous portions too! The owners are from Maui and are so friendly! We already have plans to return next week! Mahalo for the delicious meal! 😊 …

If you are in search of delicious, authentic Hawaiian plate lunch, look no further! This sweet little spot is located in the new Nordic food hall complex in the warehouse district of Minneapolis. There is something for everyone on the menu. I had to try out the Luau bowl complete with tasty kalua pork, traditional poke #pokeisnotasalad and the best Mac salad I’ve ever had. The sauce/glaze mixture on the poke was true to a classic poke dish, absolutely phenomenal. I took the SPAM musubi to go and it was fantastic. It was like I had been transported right back to the island. If I lived closer to this restaurant, I’m quite positive I would eat here once a week! Can’t wait to go back and try more of this Hawaiian inspired menu. Mahalo!
iTravel
Good portion. Some are reasonably priced, some items a little expensive but the portions are pretty good. Good presentation. The food could use more seasoning, it was bland.
Cassidy Nelson
I forgot to take a picture of the food but this place is a must stop! Chris at the register was awesome in helping us order exactly what we wanted and the serving sizes were massive. Everything was delicious and we have left overs that we can’t wait to get at tomorrow! Such a fun spot, can’t wait to go back!
Greg LaBerge
What a perfect lunch or dinner place. Huge portions for the price, excellent food.
The BBQ Chicken is stellar, and the new smoked roast pork, smothered in gravy and mushrooms is simply amazing.
Come grab some hearty food and get a drink at the bar in the Galley, it'll be a good time.
Hedwig love
First of all the food was so delicious 😋 also customer service is amazing. My favorite to get I the chicken katsu, my fiance got the chicken katsu with chicken teriyaki as well as some short ribs. ❤️ …
Joshua W
Was good, it wasn't very special or different but it was quality food. The musubi needed more soy but that's my preference.
Garrett Koland
Simply the best. I keep trying new dishes once a week, never a bad one.
Peter Schmidt
Food was excellent, atmosphere not so much. Dining hall style was noisy and crowded.

I want to start by saying that this isn’t really a review. This is an open letter to Warren and Jesse that I have wanted to share for some time now.
I have been a customer of Ono Hawaiian Plates since they were still doing takeout only one night a week from Cook in St. Paul back in early 2019. I once drove through a snowstorm from Minneapolis to St Paul and back just to grab plate lunch. I remember Jesse’s smiling face when I showed up covered in snow from the 15 seconds it took to walk from my car into the building…I wonder if she remembers how happy I was that there was FINALLY someplace in Minnesota that I could get “local kine’ “ food.
The drive home through the snow was brutal. It took nearly an hour to get back to Minneapolis. The entire way my mouth was watering from the smell circulating through the car. Finally when I got home I tore open the bag and was ready to go to town, but I wasn’t ready for what happened next.
When I took my first bite I wasn’t just having dinner—It turned into an experience. You know that scene in Ratatouille where the mean old guy has a bite, then gets thrown back to his childhood? That’s what happened to me. A flood of memories from my time with my family in Hawaii all came rushing back. Spending the day at Waimea Bay jumping off the rock, then driving back through the north shore and stopping at the hole in the wall shops that only said “PLATE LUNCH” on the outside but had a giant menu with endless options inside. It didn’t matter though because I always ordered the same thing—teriyaki chicken. It came with rice and mac salad. Then I would get a spam musubi just in case I was still hungry afterwards—or for a snack later.
Back in my dining room I hadn’t realized it until that exact moment… but after driving through a near whiteout condition snow storm my habits were right there with me. When I looked down there was a teriyaki chicken plate with mac salad and rice. There was spam musubi wrapped in saran wrap on the table next to the styrofoam box. It hit me at that moment. I didn’t just order some takeout—I ordered some of the happiest moments of my childhood. Realizing this… I smiled, wiped a tear from my eye, then had one of the most memorable meals of my adult life.
In the years since then, OHP has expanded their menu, made a brick and mortar shop that they can run every day of the week (if they want to), survived some of the hardest economical times for restaurants due to the pandemic, and become one of the Twins baseball teams favorite places to order from. For those of you who have not visited and are still reading this, I hope you take this into consideration: Ono Hawaiian Plates is more than just a place for lunch or dinner. It’s a cultural Hawaiian icon in the heart of the Midwest. If you have spent any extended period of time in Hawaii— it’s a place where you can go to relive those experiences. Most importantly though, it’s a place where you can get the true feeling of Aloha in the Twin Cities.
Jesse. Warren. From the deepest part of my heart and soul-- Mahalo nui loa. Thank you so much for giving me (and others) the chance to experience what it’s like to have just a little bit of Aloha in the Land of 10,000 lakes.
Hannah Marie Belisle
This place is unreal 10/10! Amazing! Go here! Food was so good. HUGE portions. Perfect.
Rien Harms
FANTASTIC!!! DELICIOUS!!! Can’t beat any other Poke Bowls out there. The portion matches the cost of the meal. Drove from Burnsville and it’s worth the drive! Thank you for making such a delish meal❤️
Noah P Hood
Perfect place for a late lunch while waiting for some live music and happy hour on our summer vacation. The service was excellent and the food was both fresh and hearty!
Benjamin Wiebusch
Phenomenal! Authentic! Fast Service! They took time to explain dishes to us as we looked at the menu! I've been back with friends two additional times.
Lon Jasper
Large portions, great food.
Had the Chicken Teri/Katsu plate and Short Ribs.
Cafeteria setting many food options and a bar in the middle!
Alistair Tang
This is my favorite place to eat in Minneapolis! Truly delicious, authentic Hawaiian grub down to the massive portions and amazing tastes. They've always impressed me with their consistent high-quality-- the katsu is always crunchy and I've never had anything over-cooked in all my many times dining here, which can be rare in this city. There's a lot of over-priced, half-baked restaurants in Minneapolis, but Ono is simply the tastiest food that happens to be at the best price as well! It's always worth a visit and it's the only place in the world where I always order extra sauce!
Michelle Perks
Love their Hawaiian food! Any plate you get is going to be good and definitely reminds me of the food we got while in Hawaii. The large portions can be easily split between two people or one very hungry person.
The Kailua pork is AMAZING and I tried the hurricane fries for the first time, they were sooo good. Highly recommended checking out Ono Hawaiian plates if you're looking to try authentic Hawaiian food.
Kayla Blain
Delicious Hawaiian food and fast service!
Jen Yaaj
Seriously delicious -you just have to try it!! Everything is flavor packed and authentic! You can't go wrong with whatever you choose here! From something you'd think was basic like the spam masubi or also the mac salad was SO tasty! My favorite among others is the Poke Deuce Bowl. The price was a shocker but honestly they don't skimp anything -it was filled to the brim so every bite was worth the money! You just have to try it!!!
Karl Pasche
Fantastic Hawaiian food. Having lived in Hawaii when I was younger, eating the spam musubi was a poignant moment of food nostalgia. Straight forward local (To Oahu) dishes.
Lillian A
Just ordered for the first time. I am so mad at myself for not finding this place sooner! The food was SOoooooo delicious! And the smell of the food actually reminded us so much of Hawaii!!! Sweetest staff ever! Especially the lady who handed us our takeouts. We will be back FOR SURE!!! I am definitely going to tell friends and family this great place too! Mahalo!!!!
Riely Jesme
Order something, anything with the garlic shrimp. I ordered the garlic shrimp and kalbi short ribs and it was spectacular. Delicious garlic butter all over the large, perfectly cooked, snappy shrimp with a little extra splashed over scoops of white rice. The short ribs were also perfectly cooked and rich with a really tasty sticky sweet sauce over the top of them. Everything was perfectly seasoned. 10/10 cannot wait to go back and check out other items on their menu: poke, chicken katsu, and the loco moco which I caught glimpses of as they made their way to other tables all looked divine.
David Schmid
Delicious plate lunch! Loved the flavors of Hawaii, especially the mac salad! Ono grinds! #UHGrad

I have very happy taste buds!
Amazing flavor meets Hawaiin ingredients! Taste the islands here! Their poci bowl is top notch. The Hawaiian fried rice is an absolute crowd pleaser- My picky 3,5, and 8 year old love it lol they will even eat a whole plate.
The staff is so nice and accommodating!
Ono Hawaiian plates is a real treat and reasonably priced considering they import a lot their ingredients from HI.
Marco Martinez
Hands-down the best chicken Katsu in the cities. Service is great they are always friendly the food is always done right and prepared quickly. 10 out of 10 stars. Definitely my new favorite Place to eat.
Jimmy
I thought the food has been consistently fresh and tasty the many times I’ve eaten there. It’s also great value. I have a large appetite and the portions filled me up with good quality food at a reasonable price.
Chelsea Novotny
Best poke I have had in the Twin Cities. It’s a bit on the expensive side but it comes with a lot of tuna which rarely happens with poke. Less vegetables as well if that is what you are in it for. Taste and portion is above and beyond!
Jaclyn Davey
I ordered the roasted pork and it was amazing. Killed it before I could even think to take a pic unfortunately, but portion size was huge and I haven't had a roast like this before in my life. This place is honestly a gem everyone should know about in North loop. Owner is a stand-up gal!!
Tria Vang
Flavors and freshness of poke was on point! Probably the best poke we've had outside of Hawaii. Service was fast and portions were perfect.
Alex Dachis
Ono is a solid option if you’re in the mood for those classic Hawaiian style dishes that are hard to come by elsewhere. Portion sizes are also huge. I’ve tried the bbq teriyaki chicken/chicken katsu combo (fantastic), and the bbq teriyaki chicken/garlic shrimp combo. Avoid the latter…I ordered that tonight with a friend and the shrimp was unpeeled and drowning in butter. There was a pool of butter in the takeout container which seeped under the rice and chicken and turned the meal into just kinda gross, and was just unnecessary. I just smelled
like butter the rest of the night. Other than that, only other criticism is with the mac salad. Too much mayonnaise…it’s sort of just mayo and noodles. I feel like with less mayo and a little more love/flavor would make it much more enjoyable. Will likely give the ahi tuna bowls a try next time…
John Scheirman
You know those restaurants where you're worried about ordering the wrong thing? You don't need to worry about that because everything at this restaurant SLAPS.

Taste reminded me of our last trip to kauai/oahu. Large portions, very quick service. Definitely recommended.
Strangegurl44
Bustling area, staff is nice and helped with questions. Food was excellent, hot
Forest
This place is the BEST! They accommodated my specialty order and honestly went above and beyond for it. The people who work here are so nice. The food is amazing, for those who grew up eating plate lunch, it really hits the spot. Super comforting and filling food!
Kia
Service was friendly and nice. I got their spam musubi and luau bowl. Pulled pork for luau bowl was pretty greasy. But the tuna was delicious. Spam musubi was okay.
Kylie Inman
Owner is definitely Hawaiian or born and raised. This is Hawaii quality. Even the POKE and that is HARD TO FIND in the mainland. Thank you for thus gem in the Midwest
Jeff K.
Excellent food and service every time I’ve been here!
Wafflesaurus Rex
Great service, just ok food.
Chicken katsu texture was good, but flavor was just so-so. Also, katsu sauce tasted like ketchup. Kalua pork worth trying as was the garlic shrimp and spam musubi!
A taste of the islands in the Twin Cities.
Bronson Barney
Love this place. I'm from Arizona and haven't been to Ono in a long time. It was a super fun vibe but sadly was a little to pricey since it was in a little venue. Still the food was great and the portions were big! Good experience all around
Tim Benson
Wow this place was so good, the chicken tower sandwich and hurricane fries were delicious. Also tried the curry and chicken meatloaf. All very good! Shout out to keven that made our food!
adam seifert
Nothing like this in Minnesota. If you're missing island style cooking, this is a place to check out. I ordered the spam musubi and the Pork Chicken combo. It was so much food!! I think I'll get 3 meals out of it. Staff is super friendly and food was delicious! Quantity and quality is reasonably priced for the area.
Yesenia Anderson
My kids agree: The spam musubi was better than Hawaii.
Gabriella
Wish they had a location outside the north loop cause I’d definitely go more often but worth the bother of a sea of people and cars to grab takeout. We’ve had their pork, shrimp, ribs, and chicken dishes and have all been excellent. Their fried rice is a secret star. This place never disappoints.
Benjamin Schuster
Get the Smokey Pulled Pork and the Spicy Island Sauce.
JC Hsie
Great Hawaiian food. They have most of the staples you expect short ribs, katsu, moco locco, BBQ chicken, etc. Love their hot honey mustard soy dip. Super friendly management. It's definitely worth a try and it's on my wife's list of favorite restaurants.
Craig Genereux
Food was good. It's really has a few things to offer. No Lau Lau, or Kalia pig, not much for sides. Not much of the Hawaiian experience I was hoping for. $$$ for what you actually get. Bathrooms were not well kept. Nice out door patio. Bar was okay.
Ying Thao
Great food and great experience! The staff was really friendly, knowledgeable and patient. I will definitely recommend and come here again.
Nemesis
Amazing food honestly. Their Loco Moco is to die for and their Hawaiian fried rice is really good. I recommend coming here if you have a craving for any Hawaiian food, itll knock it out and do more. Ontop of that they're super friendly and love doing business.
Kalae Verdeja
Wonderfully responsive! incredible customer service! AMAZING PEOPLE and FANTASTIC FOOD! 'Ono is the best word to describe the menu... great variety, generous portions, all made to order.
Highly recommended!
Owners are wonderful people that genuinely care about their customers.
Alayna McCalley
Cried after I took my first bite because it was SO GOOD.
Ryan Blum
Had the Spam Musabi and the McMahi sandwich, the special. Both were extremely flavorful and the sandwich was HUGE and came with a kimchi aoli. Definitely will be back!
Thomas Kuisel
Got the chicken Katsu takeout. they gave me so much food! easily 2 meals worth of chicken and rice for $9. What a deal. and it tasted amazing too. Support these guys!
Kristin “Kiki” Klun
The food is always delicious and the staff is amazing! Unfortunately there's no signage on the building and they are tucked away behind another business, but that's not their fault. It just makes them a little hard to find!
Chris Andrew
Tried all three kitchens on a date nite... no doubt ono was the best! They say "everything on the menu" is good and I'm starting to believe them! Good staff and fast food compared to the pizza next door... definitely recommend!
Patrick O'Hara
You all have no idea how long I've been waiting for a plate lunch spot to happen in MSP. My dreams came true w this wonderful establishment! I survived on plate lunch while living on Oahu and I would regard this place as a step above, high class, baby. Ono grindz for sure.
Thomas Monroe
The food is delicious! Reminds my wife, and I, of the food we had back in Hawaii! Reasonable prices! Friendly staff! Highly recommend if you are looking for a taste of the Hawaiian islands!!
Lance Aune
Our party ordered various dishes. The OHP burger was one of them.
It was the best s**t ever!!
Service was prompt too.
Go there, eat their food!
Wont disappoint
Shanin Garbow
Great food...brought is back to the islands! My mother in law is a Native Islander and had a fun time talking to Chef Warren! Mahalo to the fantastic staff! We will definitely be repeat customers!
Chris Freborg
Authentic, delicious, generous portions at fair price. Easy to order, quick, friendly service, great dinning hall and outdoor space.

Nicholas Severson
Great food and great service glad they finally opened I'll be going there alot
Drew Manupupule
I lived in hawaii for 7 years this is the most authentic hawaiian food in the entire state. So very good. Tip them well they deserve it.
Benjamin Czeck
I've been hoping for a true Hawaiian food restaurant to come to MN and this place doesn't disappoint!! I was stoked when they opened the brick and mortar location instead of the pop-up style they were doing for awhile. Most authentic Hawaiian I've found on the mainland 🤙🏼 …
Megan Bender
I think I found my favorite new spot! Customer service was excellent and the food was amazing. I’ve been trying to find legit teriyaki since moving from Seattle 10 years ago and this place has it.
Said Shaiye
I got the garlic shrimp & bbq Hawaiian chicken — so, so good. My friend put me onto this place and I was NOT disappointed.
The rice was on point, big fan of the sauce they drizzled over top. Subtle but smooth detail. The shrimp was excellent, & the BBQ chicken? Oh, man.
Took me back to growing up & all my Samoan & Tongan friends would have neighborhood BBQs at the park every weekend. Real island flavor all over this plate. The Mac and cheese was on point too!
Pro tip — keep some Hawaiian Sweet Rolls at the crib and toss one onto your Ono Hawaiian Plate when you get home. Thank me later. Can’t wait to try the rest of the menu.
Stop reading — order now!
Orrin Bare
Very good. I had the terryaki and chicken katsu combo 2ith fried spam on the side. This ended up being way too much food for me haha. It was all really good though
Heather Spinar
Absolutely delicious, might seem pricey at first glance but you get quite a bit of food and is very delicious. Highly recommend the Japanese style Curry with chicken katsu.
(I also appreciate when I asked them if they could make the Curry spicy, they did. And it had just the right amount of zing!)
dee olivera
I'm from Hawaii and this food is the real deal.
Jared Menk
Katsu, island chicken and the short ribs were all fantastic, but the mac salad is the one. Killer food!
Christian Rieck
I went in thinking the food would be good. The food was over the top. The meats were tender and juicy, everything was really good. I will be taking people here for a few meals.
Byron Emmons
Very tasty! I have had this one on my radar for months and finally stopped by. Very tasty! Large portions and wonderful staff. Can't wait to stop by again and try more of the menu!
Josh Tunks
Everything I try at Ono is fantastic, my two favorites are the Mixed Poke Bowl and McMahi sandwich.
Noah Jeffrey
The Japanese curried vegetables with chicken katsu was delicious! And very generous portion sizes all around. 🤤 …

A taste of Maui in Minneapolis! After visiting Maui several times I couldn't find a decent Hawaiian place in Minneapolis until now. Ono Hawaiian plates is a MUST. their Kalbi ribs and teriyaki chicken is a MUST! Also try the Musubi!

Been to the brick and mortar location 2x now
Loved everything I've had there so far
The chicken katsu, teriyaki chicken, kalbi ribs, poke nachos and mac salad are all fire af
I suggest going during happy hour so you can get the nachos and katsu cutlet app, they're both dank af
Wish they had more Hawaiian drink options but other than that, it's a home run

Only authentic Hawaiian food in the city. Maybe even state! If you don't eat pork try the katzu chicken!

Food was excellent! Closest thing I could get tasting like Hawaii so we went to try it out. We ordered the chicken katsu (the sauce was tangy, not a fan) and kalua pork combo, garlic shrimp (scrumptious and flavorful) and bbq chicken combo, the fries (tad on the sweeter side) and the loco moco. Not disappointed at all. Food and service was great.
Only thing was it's inside of the north loop, seating is limited on Friday - Saturday night (5 pm) and it was loud. First time here and we brought a little one. Will try to come earlier and or on a weeknight to avoid the crowds. And - there are 3 other restaurants available.

Food and service was great for my pick up order, it was super quick service and ready, hot and fresh upon pickup. 😎 I have been craving good Hawaiian food since I moved back from Colorado last July so this was just perfect to satisfy my craving.
Jerome Hinds

My first time trying Hawaiian food and eating at the NorthLoop. The food was delicious and tasty!!!! The plate size was bigger than we thought but the perfect amount for one serving. It was definitely worth the price we pay for! The place was such a nice place and easy to order. You can order at the table or right at the place which is right behind the bar, my bf and I miss it! 😂 the chicken Katsu hit the spot for me as I was craving for some katsu. The kalbi has a good flavor and juicy! Everything was just delicious that once you eat, you just can’t stop! The fried rice was like no others! Perfect amount of meat and moist with flavor. Again everything was jsut sooo good!!! I’ll say please do give this place a try and experience the deliciousness that I experienced! 🫰🏼 my bf and I are definitely going back soon!!!!!
