Reviews of Nonna Rosa's Ristorante Italiano
Arasu S
The food was excellent. The waiter was awesome, but it was obvious he was being run ragged; they are very under staffed.
The salmon was done very well. The risotto with portobello mushroom was excellent; very flavorful. The margarita pizza was pretty good. Their wine selection is pretty good too.
We'll definitely be back.

Appetizers were awesome. Rice ball the dip and sweet and spicy shrimp. Yum. When dinner came on the menu it sounded so good. Unfortunately we had to ask for more sauce because everything was dry. Ended up taking home the entree to doctor up. I will try them again maybe for meatballs and spaghetti

We have enjoyed this restaurant since they opened their doors over 10 years ago. We've appreciated how they accommodate our needs; as when we were on a carb restricted diet - substituting two green veg and no potatoes... They wait staff is friendly. We always feel welcome. My husband enjoys their gnocchi, which they make on site. I enjoy their salmon. My favorite salmon is their grilled salmon. I also enjoy it on one of their dinner or lunch salads; and their stuffed salmon is delicious as well. In addition to the meal we've enjoyed their Happy Hour special when they offer 1/2 price wine bottles... - in the Summer - cocktails on the patio are a delight.

Went there on a Friday night for a birthday celebration. All the food was good! I had the Cioppino with mussels, calamari, shrimp, scallops and salmon steamed in a white wine tomato herb broth. It had really good flavor and looked like the lighter side of their menu vs. pasta and bread. I would order that spicy if I went there again. The look of the calamari definitely turned some people off at the table - tasted decent! I did try someone's gnocchi and that was really good as well. Overall, a fun place to go.

Great food and service. I was there with a party of 4. Everything was amazing. I Kept it simple and went with the spaghetti and meatballs. It did not disappoint. Loved it! They have a lot of drink specials and happy hour specials. Give them a try.

You find the main entrance in a back parking lot. It's by a McDonald's, Metro by T-Mobile, and a laundromat so it's odd to see back there. The entrance was fancy once but a bit worn now, and behind clutter.
Inside it's a narrow little restaurant with a tiny bar but nice. Food was good.
Beth Gasser
Great atmosphere, attentive staff, extensive menu. Loved my aperol spritzer and gnocchi I ordered. The homemade balsamic vinegar dressing was delicious.

Garlic cheese bread with meat sauce, Veal Saltimbocca and Tarimasu. Perfect, perfect and perfect. Service was great and very friendly. There was a cute waitress named....wait, can't post that. And, serving size was more then adequate. In fact, if finished, make time for a nap, trust me.

It was lovely. Great cuisine from appetizer to dessert. Been here many times and never disappoints

Based on our recent Saturday visit, the food was very good to inedible. Table of seven, I loved my spicy shrimp, it was tasty, hot and a large portion. Others said their food was only warm with a cement like angle hair pasta thrown in. The service left much to be appreciated with many snafus… lack of training, long & busy night or ??? I’ll try again sometime on a weekday.

I've visited this restaurant twice over the last couple months and I have mixed reviews. My first experience was great; I'd say 5-star. The waitstaff was friendly and knowledgeable. Good wine suggestion and the food was delicious. We went back because it was that good. Unfortunately, the second time was not so good. We were seated at a table where the prior guest's bill was still on the table (it wasn't picked up until after we had ordered)... strange. The waitstaff was friendly, but very slow... seemed unorganized. It took forever to just get drinks. The waitstaff was unable to help with wine selection. When the food arrived, as it was being set in front of me, it was almost dumped off the plate. Kind of made a commotion, but thankfully it didn't spill and I could enjoy my meal. The food was delicious and I wanted to feel better but then about halfway through, I found a piece of plastic in the food. Maybe just "bad luck"on this second visit... but unfortunately, I'm not sure we will return for a third.

THEE best pasta I’ve had in my life. I ordered the gnocchi vesuviani and holy crap… the pomodoro sauce with the goat cheese was soul-satisfying and utterly captivating. The gnocchi pieces were larger than anywhere else I’ve ordered gnocchi. The combination of fresh, soft gnocchi with that heavenly sauce was unforgettable. I’ve never in my 31 years of life had better Italian food. I’m so excited to return. The menu has so many options. 100/10. You read it right, one hundred out of ten

Food family owned neighborhood restraraunt. Nice place and there are sone really good entrees!
Update... changed to 5 stars. Went for early Valentine's Day dinner with my wife. Busy night, had to sit at the bar. Rack of lamb was perfect and my wife's ravioli was amazing. We usually just get it to go, but very much enjoyed our experience sitting at the bar. No drinks, just dinner. Brett the bartender was an awesome server and always gets our to go order right.
Phil Robbin
Overall, a nice place, pleasant atmosphere, great service, and well prepared meals.
The only detractor was that the spice level was a solid 1 out of 10. I get that some people don't like a lot of spice, but there was not a hint of salt, pepper, garlic, oregano, basil, etc. anywhere, which is unusual for an Italian restaurant.
That being said, I would still recommend Nonna Rosa's.
Kristine Pollock
The food was delicious. I came at an off time(a little after 3), and it was not busy at all, but it was evident that none of the tables had been cleaned up in at least a few hours. There was also a staff person shouting obscenities and trash talking the restaurant in the back so loudly everyone could hear it. I will return for the food, but would strongly consider getting it to go as the experience was not great for dine-in.

Upscale white tablecloth Italian restaurant in the heart of Robbinsdale.(across from the Wicked Wart.) The place has a warm, almost cozy, feel to it. Although busy, our party of six was seated and waited on quickly. I had the generously portioned Chicken parmigiana which had tender chicken and a flavorful sauce. Everyone was satisfied with their meals. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. They have a nice bar and good sized outdoors dining area.

Great customer service. Cute place and food was good. Prefer calamari at Olive Garden though but it wasn’t bad.

This was a group dinner of 10. The service was spectacular. She was very attentive, professional and all the orders were taken correctly. The food was awesome. All food came out at the same time and was hot and fresh. All in all this was a very positive experience and we will be returning again.

Best Italian restaurant in the Twin Cities. I recommend the olive bowl and deep fried ravioli for appetizers. The house red is amazing!

(Original post 1 mo ago, just edited a typo.)
1st time coming here and we were pleased. My husband and I were early arrivers and glad to see happy hour honored in the restaurant seating area. The customer service was excellent. My only request would be that they wear masks but the interactions are so short and far between I still felt comfortable.
Their drink special of Cabernet with hot cider and cinnamon is amazing, I ordered one pre dinner and one post.
The waitress nailed my wine preference and suggested the Valpolicella which was light bodied but dry, a perfect accompaniment to the Araceli (risotto balls fried and covered with marinara and pesto). It also went well with the tasty Italian flatbread, but beware it does have a bit of fennel.
The marinated olives are delicious and so reasonably priced at $5.
As a previous review mentioned the bread was lackluster. It was dry, but slathering it with the herbed butter helped. Am I going to dock a review for bread? Good grief that's not why we came here.
Overall it would probably be a 3.5 so we rounded up.
Atmosphere wise, it is nice but not fancy - tablecloths and comfy chairs with ambient lighting and jazzy music. I would like a candle to top it off, and even a few in the window would be wonderful, but that's a mere suggestion.
If you want to scroll down for other reviews note that some of them are biased, after dining here we can see that more clearly now.
We would dine here again if they were closer to home. We recommend Nona Rossa's for a nice quiet couple's evening out with good wine, great food, and hopefully even better company and conversation.
Mike W
Very traditional Italian restaurant with an extensive and varied menu and wine list. And their patio dining area has a European feel to it. We had a wonderful meal.
Madelyn Shafer
Sat at the outdoor patio and was attended to quickly. Social distancing and masks were present. Service is great there. Food is well in hand and similar to our experiences in Italy and our Italian grand mother’s cooking. We’ve become regulars with their takeout. Just as good as in resto.
Bunker
Great little Italian joint with very good food and very good service! I had Lasagna and a caesar salad, both well-prepared and well-proportioned. I will return for certain👌
Rory Prodoehl
Friday night dinner on the patio. Amazing meal and equally amazing service. If you like homemade Italian, this is the place.
Melanie Blazar
This place was delicious! The staff was so friendly. My whole family had a fantastic dinner (the portions were huge!)
Melissa Enger
We hosted our post wedding dinner here this past month. Jesse, the owner was SO easy to work with. He had excellent communication and his response time was seamless. The day of the meal, our server, Unique, and she was a ROCKSTAR. We had 43+ kids, and she knew exactly what to do and where to go and even cut our cake perfectly. Woman of all trades. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding. I recommend this place for casual dining or small wedding events. 10/10 FOR SURE!
Jeremy Burns
This surprise gem was a treat to dine at. They have an large menu of traditional Italian dishes with a great wine menu. Atmosphere was comfortable and inviting and the staff was friendly and attentive.
Viktoriia Hatfield
Really amazing place. Cool authentic food. Desserts are a little bit overpriced but in general this place is awesome. Don't even hesitate to eat there. Its really impressive and amazing
Tom W
This little gem of an Italian restaurant is as authentic as you will find anywhere in the Twin Cities. Their chefs are actually Italian and they know what they're doing. In addition to the basics, they have a selection of delightful seafood dishes, evening dinner specials, and a fantastic wine menu. The small, quaint dining room is perfect for a romantic dinner or larger groups.

My hubby threw me a surprise retirement party at Nonna Rosa's. What a wonderful experience! The food was great and the staff was attentive and so pleasant! The room provided was free of charge and was a lovely setting for this special time. Management worked with my husband to provide the very best experience possible. It was a home run! Highly recommended!!
Nicole Churchill
Excellent chicken parmesan, perfect lunch portion. So many Italian places skimp on the marinara sauce but not here. Cesar salad also very good. Hubby would probably PSD on the shrimp barely soup next time but kudos to them for trying something different. He did love his tortellini quattro for though. Wish we lived closer; we'd go back. Quaint mom and pop kind of joint.
gary bongard
Best food I've had in a long time . Try it and you will see.
Audrey Lord
We had lasagna, totorlini, spaghetti, and carbanara. All excellent and good portion size (see pictures).
Mary Buboltz
Went there on 3/24/2022 had a reservation for 5.30pm.Service was quick.
Have been to this restaurant many many times and have always enjoyed it up
till tonight.I ordered the chicken fettuccine for the first and last time.
All I had basically was a bowl of dried pasta,There was hardly any chicken and no sauce. Left all of the pasta..Also the bread you offer is so bland.
Will be back again as one bad meal hopefully won't spoil my experience with you
shawn Severson
In the mood for great serviceand even more amazing food? this is your new favorite Italian restaurant. Wow... so yummy.
Maryn Gonzalez
Server was wonderful, food was good. Hopefully new management doesn't disrupt things too much
Rob Conde
I've been here a couple of times so far and the place is amazing! It's a charming little place with delicious Italian food, a good bar and wine selection and fantastic service. I heartily recommend giving this place a chance, as I will definitely be going back.
Nicole Kirkpatrick
Pasta bar is amazing absolutely delicious, huge variety of ingredients large portion s & very cost efficient. Calm unique environment able to enjoy inside or outside dining.
Sheila Mensching
Had such a wonderful time at Nonna Rosa's * Spur of the moment decision on Father's day, we were seated outside patio, super shady and the breeze kept us cool. *Our server Becca was delightful, our orders were splendid (TRUE Italian!!). We have not had such since moving from New York 32 years ago! Nonna Rosa's is my New Best Place to eat!
Spenser
Nonna Rosa is one of the best Italian restaurants I've had the chance to visit.
The staff are very friendly and have great recommendations, the building is wonderful and their food is incredible. The Gnocchi bolognese recommended was delicious, a wonderful melt in your mouth texture and the sauce so flavorful.
It is definitely worth checking out and I will 100% be stopping by again.
Deb Kauffman
Our waiter Madilyn was absolutely astonishing! The experience was very personal especially when the head chef Juan came out to speak with a member of our party. We will definitely be coming back in the future. I haven’t had a restaurant experience like the one I had at Nonna Rosa’s in a long time. Excellent food, excellent people, and an excellent atmosphere!
Eliana Burns
I had an absolutely wonderful experience with the staff at this restaurant, much worse experience with the customers. A woman was causing a scene, clearly being rude and demanding to staff. This included calling the chef names and lying on a google review. Melanie Nicole was this person, and I am especially disappointed to see such a dishonest, disgusting review (I unfortunately was far to close to the action). Thank you to all staff members for doing the best they could in such a situation. After causing a scene for an hour, she finally stopped. Great food, great service, and ungrateful customers. I appreciate your professionalism!

Chicken Brushetta!! Delicious 😋 …

Enjoyable dinner experience. This was our 4th visit there. It was busy with lively atmosphere. We got seated right away and offered water, but it took a long time before the server could catch up with us to order and get drinks. She acknowledged they were under staffed, which is a challenge right now for many businesses. Once we ordered, the food was well timed, and we'll prepared. My wife had Veal Parmesean, and I had the Shrimp Scampi on Angel Hair Pasta. Both dishes were nicely done, but I thought the Scampi had the winning edge. We also had salads as a first course which were not award winning, but good. This is a sweet little place which I recommend. By the way, they have a nice patio dinning set up, but it was too hot to take advantage of on this visit.
Emily Sundell
Ordered take out tonight, it was so yummy! I had the Gnocchi Vesuviani and a Ceasar Salad, both great. The service/host tonight was also great. I felt very welcomed even though I just made a quick pick up.
Nicole Gregersen
Omg had the best dinner in a long time. Only sad thing is they have been here 11 years and this was my first time. We will definitely make up for lost time. Unique, our server was knowledgeable and attentive and even explained what dishes she was walking by toother tables. Food was beyond amazing!
Abigail Sears
Chef Juan was AMAZING. The soup of the day was fantastic and our server Madilyn offered to bring me the recipe. I ended up sitting and talking with chef Juan about the soup after our meal (which was also yummy). Loved the kindness of the staff AND the food!
Tom Thorsen
Brett was great. Food was good but could have been more saucy kind of dry. The big takeaway for me was proportion size was half as big at the same price. Still deciding if I'll order there again. By the way I've been a customer since they opened.
Missy Isles
So good! We ordered takeout during quarantine, and everything was hot when we picked it up! Salad and soup as sides, chicken parmigiana and baked mostaccioli. Everything was amazing! We'll be recommending this place to family and friends. Online ordering was easy, too, which is a big plus these days. The next day, we were already craving more!
Joe C
Service was decent. Atmosphere was okay. The food was less than impressive this time around. Bread did not seem fresh or flavorful. The seafood was chewy. And they were out of stock for many items. Including our first choice dessert, port wine, and our selected beer. On the plus side it's a local establishment in a great part of downtown Robbinsdale. And the pricing is very reasonable relative to the portions.
DeAnna Williamson
My daughter and I went to this place for the first time yesterday. We order the shrimp appetizer. It was ok there was very little shrimp for $14.00. There was 4 pieces to be exact, just cut up. The offered 2 sauces one spicy and one non spicy. The non spicy has pork in it ( my daughter 💕 this sauce) and the spicy doesn't. So you might want to bring yourself some yum yum sauce I you don't like pork or spice.. The spicy does have a really good kick to it so if your sensitive to spice that will not be for you.
I originally order the Veal $23.00. It came with mash potatoes and veggies a good serving size of them. The Veal however was few and far between and way over cooked and tuff. Had about 4 small pieces of it in a sauce. Tough meaning you needed to chew it alot in order to digest it. It had some flavor but nothing to write home about.
Our dishes came with salad or soup. Salad had 2 choice House, which I choose, and ceasar. Wish I would of taken photos. The house salad was nice and dainty they have their own balsamic sauce they place on top, so no options on dressing. Not a full salad but it is just an opening item. The soup on the other hand didn't have any broccoli in it to begin with. It was a cheddar and broccoli soup with no broccoli and a bit to much butter. Needless to say it was not the best dish. However my daughter like the soup anyway.
My daughter tried the rack of lamb $60.00 medium rare. The lamb was tender but a bit fatty. She liked it alot. It also came with potatoes and veggies. There is a photo of that above.
The wait staff was amazing she caught when food wasn't correct and returned these items immediately. She tried to resolve any issue that came up or that she thought would come up. Very helpful and patient. She even suggested food that she thought we may like. Her name was Unique and she definitely was. A very nice women and a good server. They are very lucky to have her.
She suggested another dish for me. She thought I would like it with out the pork sauce. There is a photo of that dish as well above she also brought out a cheddar and broccoli soup with broccoli in it. Thank you.
This time the broccoli had large chuncks and needed to be cut down to bite sizes but at least they we in the soup.
The second dish didn't work out for us as well $23.00. Without the beacon sauce the dish was left with no flavor. Looks yummy though. My daughter took the dish with her because to me it looked as if the sauce was still in the dish just on the bottom. She said she was going to doctor it up and the eat it later. Kuddos to my daughter. All in all we had a great time we met the new bar tender there. She was also amazing had us laughing so hard and her smiles were contagious. Between the two of them, the server and bartender these ladies had us enjoying every moment of our time even though it was a bad situation.
The wine was good and so was the desert. We had ice cream. We tried the tiramisu and anther one that was green and with alot of alcohol it was good as well.
We will return again and give this place another try just because of them.
Now before I finish this review. I wanted to let you know they do have a nice outdoor patio to eat at. This is where we sat. The Indoors is nice as well. It is cozy and a little tight but I believe that is for a family setting. Nothing like family especially in an Italian restaurant.
This place seems to be pretty busy for we saw people of all ages there eating and enjoying their stay. They are very respectful and do hope you enjoy your time at their restaurant. This place is spending as you can see. However if your looking for good service and a nice environment this would be a good place. The food well that you will have to try and let me know. I am always curious as to what other pallets think and hey maybe next time I'll try your favorite dish.
Megan Gaffey
The good: their takeout system is really good.
The bad: I had the gnocchi with Bolognase sauce and the appetizer sampler with flash-fried calamari, zucchini and shrimp. My food was only so-so, and it costs too much for me to be ok with so-so. The gnocchi wasn't sticky enough. And the calamari wasn't crisp and light, it was rubbery and the breading was too dense.
I would eat there again, but I would try different things and hope they were better.
Scott Linge
SPAGHETTI SALSICE was excellent, the sausage was finely ground and fennel fresh. The SEAFOOD CANELLONI was the best my wife ever tasted and generous portion at that. Soup was great but my salad was a little sparse; however, the lettuce was freshly cut and Caesar dressing excellent.
Don't listen to these one star reviews, I've been a patron for 10 years and this new owner has really made excellent improvements to a storied fine dining establishment. And don't forget the off-street patio!
Monte Goldberg
So I am just visiting Minneapolis for a few days with my wife we came to see our daughter. We were deciding what to eat and ended up here. We got here late on a Sunday it was still crowded but people were finishing up. So we started with a bottle of wine (1/2 price on select bottles Sun. and Mon.) and two appetizers mussels in a delicious sauce and shrimp calamari and artichoke fried with two dipping sauces. Both really good. Then we shared veal parmigiana and eggplant parmigiana with spaghetti both very good. Service was good and friendly atmosphere is simple and cozy. To find a place this good is not that easy.
Aaron Bush
Nice, quiet and calm atmosphere. Very fresh food made by the chef right in the middle of the dining area. Great drinks too
Josh Rolfs
I got the Mediterranean pasta dish and it was very delicious. The sauce was a mixture of Red wine and feta cream, making a purple sauce that is very unique looking.
Barbara Korf
You know that the Italian food is going to be good when you walk in to the restaurant and you hear the staff speaking Italian. I had eggplant parmigiano and it was so tasty! The portion size was very generous also. My husband enjoyed his baked manicotti. All the staff was friendly and the Italian atmosphere is lovely.
tim seldal
Loved it! Great steak with amazing sauce and fixings. Great mashed Potatoes. Great & unique chicken with mushrooms. Great mixed drinks! The sunrise drink is a great one... Josephine our waitress was awesome! Really enjoyed it and her!
Andrea Hall
Great food. Enjoyed the patio and the beautiful day.
Matthew K
I frequent this restaurant once or twice a month. I've probably been about 12 times and I've been disappointed 1 time. The rest of the time, it's been one of the best steaks - cooked to perfection. Very rarely, will I go out of my way to compliment good food/service. Nearly every time I make a point to compliment the chef and my waitress. It's not "fast", but, it's not "slow". I like that they're not trying to get you in and out as fast as possible. and it's not like I waited a half hour to get food, so it's great for conversing with your guest. My wife and I usually finish a conversation as the food is arriving at the table.
Kaitlyn Meyer
They have a great happy hour and a nice patio. Unique was our server and she was awesome. I love the Arancini!
Kimberly Williams
Thanks to Tina, Hayley (sorry if I spelled your names wrong) and all those at Nonna Rosa's for serving us a wonderful and safe dinner during the time of COVID-19.
Their food is always fresh, fabulous and delicious. My now husband proposed at this restaurant and we had our pos-mini wedding dinner here. They were able to accommodate our small little group outside and safely.
They service has always been fun, great and prompt. Also, the value for your money is great! I almost always go home with leftovers and if not I've had one of my most delicious meals.
If you have never had the chance to go there get any appetizer, the Diavolo is delish as is their bolognese sauce! BON APPETITE!
Mary Frei
Great place. Excellent authentic Italian food. Awesome atmosphere, ambiance. The patio is great. The service is just wonderful. Can't say enough about how much I enjoy dining there.
Jonathan Smaldone
As a transplant from Long Island, New York, this place has fantastic Italian food. Whenever family visits or for special occasions we go out of our way to eat here. Great service and the half-price bottles of wine on Sundays is nice as well.
John Nagel
Celebrating our sisters birthday. Great food, great wine...but what made the evening ,Was Mattie she was a great server. She was friendly, professional and attentive.
Veronika Skor
A wonderful neighborhood restaurant - one of our go to great value restaurants- where it's homemade, dishes are huge, the staff is great and happy hour has some of the best deals on drinks. I would say the dishes are American-Italian more than traditional Italian in nature but the food is cooked well, tastes fantastic and is clearly made from scratch.
Nirvana Rodriguez
Had been wanting to eat authentic Italian food for the longest. I just moved into the neighborhood and, I seen there was an Italian restaurant close to me. I ordered multiple things to go. The service was great! as for the food.. well, I’ve had better
Maybe I’ll come back
Alicia Losier
YUMMMMM. I admit, as a bit of a millenial foodie, I was skeptical with the pics of the interior that it would be all that good. It was REALLY good. And normally, I'm not much for Italian food - I know, call me crazy. Huge portions. Entrees served with bread and salad or soup.
We went as a large party on Mother's day in the evening. Our server was FANTASTIC dealing with our group of 10 that can just be such a handful. She was gracious. Lovely. The food was awesome. The wine was great.
Highly recommend coming here and tip well because they work hard. Much love, Nonna Rosa!
Denise Godwin
I was here 2 months ago and it was awesome, so for my husband's birthday I suggested Nonna Rosa's. This experience was a 1 star experience, but since last time was awesome I am giving it 3 stars.
Their Shrimp Scampi angel hair is the best! I think their seafood menu is their strong suit.
The downside here is the service was painfully slow. The server was obviously overwhelmed and my husband even said "I would hate to see what happens when they get busy".
I would try it again but be prepared to wait, wait, wait.....
Jed Dordal
The food is very good. I was surprised by the flavor in the dishes that I've had during the two times I've been there.
The setting is nice. The staff is very friendly, too.
I think the portion sizes are a little small. And I was frustrated with how long it took the waitress to come around. We were done eating for about 15 minutes before she came to check if we wanted our checks. Then it took 15 minutes to get the checks. And another 15 to process the credit cards. It was over the lunch hour, so I would expect that a restaurant understands that people don't have all day. Also, I agree with the previous comment that mentioned how there is no one to greet you and no signs telling you to wait to be seated. Both times I've been there, I've awkwardly wandered around with no direction. They don't even acknowledge that you're there.

Great food, family run,
A Lot of Love in each plate!
The Gnocchi was delicious!!!
Joe Dancho
Pretty good Italian food. Sometimes the quality is inconsistent. Depends if the chef/family is arguing or not. Don't let the dynamic stop you...super cool atmosphere, but no two vistis are the same. And I mention this in a positive light. Enjoy!
Mitch Rossow
The new owner kept the same amazing menu and expanded the wine list. The interior is all new and beautiful. A classic Italian restaurant with a comfortable clean atmosphere. Chao!
Mariah Cordero
Delicious food. Absolutely beautiful restaurant. Small enough to be a great date place without being too loud. Friendly staff!
Cynthia Lettermann
A very tasty Italian restaurant in downtown Robbinsdale. I have gone past it a hundred times, but finally we walked over on a warm Spring night. We took a chance going without a reservation, and eventually made it in.
We started with an appetizer called Arancini. These are tasty breaded and deep fried rice balls stuffed with mozzarella cheese and marinara and has a bit of pesto.
Our entrees were Chicken Bruschetta and Shrimp Scampi. But first, we had an Italian potato soup and bread service. It was so creamy and tasty with meaty bits of chicken. A nice change from a loaded baked potato soup rut found in so many restaurants.
The Bruschetta's chicken breasts had a combination of a tomato blend and mozzarella. These covered a bed of pesto olive oil tossed spaghetti in a cream sauce with toasted goat cheese.
The Shrimp Scampi were deliciously cooked in a lemon and white wine sauce. This was a Vampire halting dish with an amazing amount of garlic. Can there ever be too much garlic? As a dinner, it came with a grilled vegetables and baked potato sides including an herbed butter.
We finished dinner by sharing a lava cake and a scoop of their house-made chocolate peanut butter gelato.
So, if you are looking for a special meal, this is a good pick. If you think Olive Garden is great, Nonna Rosa will disabuse you of that notion. Better food and prices can be found here, just make sure that you get reservations.

Visiting family and decided to come try this place out for the very first time defiantly won't be my last! I love the atmosphere and friend feel of the restaurant! And my server christina recommended the salmon ripieno.
This crab stuffed salmon had this amazing cream sauce and homemade garlic mashed with fresh veggies So so good!! Christina defiantly made my experience enjoyable and I will be back the next time I'm in town!

Good seafood selection. Picture of shrimp, artichokes and calamari appetizer. Tomato dipping sauce it came with (comes with 2 dipping sauces) was bland. Shrimp with angel hair pasta tasted as good as we've found. Generous, flavorful el dente pasta and shrimp. The pasta was just as good the next day. Meal came with bread and choice of soup or salad.
Fun atmosphere decorated with murals and brocades. Great for place for date night or to enjoy with friends.
Would enjoy seeing more healthy apps, though that may just be me. Prices reasonable for a better than average meal. Looking forward to next time.

If every salad tasted this good, I would eat salad for the rest of my life. The food was delicious and the portions were good. The only thing we didn't enjoy was we weren't greeted right away and the chicken in the chicken parm was flavorless, although the rest was delicious. Over all, I would recommend this place. Cooked by real Italians, delicious, and good atmosphere
Mike Spude
Excellent authentic Italian food. Service and atmosphere we're wonderful. I was I town for business 3 evenings and ate dinner there twice. I'll be back for sure.
Randy Kreisel
Entrees great. Desserts meh.
We have been visiting Nona for several years so this visit was probably an anomaly. As usual, the meal was wonderful. Sadly, the desserts were sub par. I had canoli, the shell was thick and hard making it difficult to cut. The filing was tasteless and the chocolate syrup tasted "old". My wife had Gelato. It was full of ice crystals.
Adrienne Bates
I absolutely love this place!!! The servers are awesome and the food is made from the heart and big portions too. Enough to always take home! Unique is my favorite server, shes sweet, personable and always attentive ! Thank you so much we love you guys!!
Anthony Larson
Everything was great except our server. She was super spacy and just walked around aimlessly while everybody was waiting. The other server worked her butt off while ours did not. She took forever to take our order. She didn't refill our beverages. It took 30 minutes just to get our salad and soup. Food was excellent though!
Kenneth Zimmerman
Visited for the first time after new ownership. Carbonara is still good. The sauce for the gnocchi was thin and was more chunky than before. Still worth a try.
Jennifer Gibson
We've been here twice and both times have been great. Our second visit the restaurant was very very busy. With our final bill, the server gave us a voucher for next time. We'll be back soon, the carbonara is my favorite!
Steve Alley
Nonna Rosa's will always be a family favorite for us. Always plenty of parking out back, and a friendly staff. The side porch is great during the summer to enjoy those sunny days and evenings. The menu has a lot of wonderful options that should appeal to everyone. The well stocked bar inside has lots of choices... So, if you are looking for a nice bottle of wine or a relaxing cocktail, they should have you covered. When we first started going to Nonna Rosa's the prices seemed just a tad high UNTIL you see they give a generous portion and how good it all tastes.
Tom Riedel
Amazing! The atmosphere was inviting, the food was top notch and our server, Unique, was wonderful.
Carter Burns
The Marsala is creamy and delicious, the salmon risotto is my favorite, and the food isn’t overpriced. They are hit or miss though depending on who is in the kitchen.
Robin Mirtica
We were invited to this restaurant by my sister and bother- in - law. My sister ordered an appetizer plate. Everything on it was great except for the bread, which was stale. As a restaurant, how would you not know the age of your bread. Which should be replaced every day. My boyfriend's food was hot hot on one end and cold in the middle. Why he didn't say anything is puzzling to me
Lee Jacobs
My wife and I are new to the area.. starting to get out and do some dine in at local restuarants. If you haven't been here,, it's a must go to place. Awesome food and service! We will definitely be doing this one again.
Lisa Xiong
My first time doing dinner here. I've come for lunch a couple times and it's not as busy. The wait was long even with reservations. Dinner was too busy, orders were forgotten. If you're hungry and want fast service don't eat dinner here. Better if you are wanting to just chill, wait, talk, drink, and wait some more for your food. The food was a bit expensive. Olive Garden would have been better or Bucca de Beppo.
Adam Schenck
Lovely family Italian restaurant, locally owned. Good service, portions, grub. Located in up and coming downtown Robbinsdale. Natural fresh ingredients.
Michael Casey
Service was excellent and the food delicious! The price was easily half of what it could be for this quality. Can't imagine how you could leave this place a bad review!?! Comfortable seating, quint setting. Feels like Italy or New York Italian restaurant. Definitely come back! 👍🙂 …
Gracia Macks
Great wine selection and fantastic happy prices. Excellent service. Very mediocre food though. Nothing was particularly good or bad.
Theresa Ziegler
Spacious and comfortable outdoor dining area -- was absolute perfection on this glorious fall early evening! The food was great and the service was friendly and so capable!
Ronda Disch
Solid. Loved the atmosphere, it reminded us of the Italian bistros we visited in Italy. The arancini was excellent, pasta dishes were good, but a little heavy on the sauces. Overall, we're really glad we gave it a chance.
Mike McCallister
We have been eating at Nonna Rosa's for years, and always enjoy the food. We especially love the build-your-own "pasta bar" option for lunch. And the outdoor patio is delightful at the right time of year. Separately, the owners are great members of the community, supporting city events and activities.
Dani Zere
The food and service is so amazing we rented the place and got married there. We had our wedding outdoors on thier beautiful patio and then brought everyone inside for third wonderful food. Happy hearts and stomachs are found here.
Ryan Follmer
Not sure where these one star ratings come from??? We made our first visit this week. I had been wanting to try this place for months. As other have said, this is a small, quaint place where the chef is literally 15’ away preparing all the food.
We ordered drinks (both lemon and orange ‘cello) as well as an app, main dishes and dessert. All the food was very well prepared, hot and timely. By timely I mean not “fast” essentially, but timed appropriately. Drinks were delivered quickly with app shortly after. About the time we were ready for salads, they arrived. Dinner was not rushed like a chain restaurant. Entrees were right in time, giving you time to appreciate the food and actually enjoy a meal.
If you are looking for a burn and turn type Italian go to Olive Garden.
Food was very well prepared. My wife is a NY Italian and this meal did not disappoint. House made cannoli was also a treat, as was the gelato.
Long story short, go here for a nice dinner, a dinner you want to spend some time with your company where the food is great and the setting is small and intimate. Plan to spend a few hours. Have an espresso...
Kim Y
Delicious food, nice atomsphere, parking sucks but everything else is great. Great italian food.
Sam Michaels
Go for the lunch special pasta bar, it's a great deal, the food is quality and you get a healthy portion (and affordable enough that you can keep coming back and trying different combinations). Bonus: it's not as busy at lunch. Servers are always pleasant, even if it seems under staffed at times.
Martin Bacigalupo
This was our third time going to Nonna Rosa's. The first two times were outstanding to the extent that it completely swayed our deciscion tonight on which of our top Italian places to go to ... bad choice tonight. Under staffed, food was bad (Veal was way over cooked and pasta tasted like Creamette), waitress messed up huge (we really wanted to try the Shrimp Fritto but didn't get it after two attempts), and then she gave us a dish of chocolate ice cream to make it better ... wife hates chocolate ice cream. The waitress did give us a $10 gift certificate but not sure it will get a chance to get used because it is likely when faced with the same choice next time a $10 gift card won't sway our decision to go to Ninja Rosa's. Too bad ... a restraunts response to a bad experience really does make a difference when people make a future choice
John Besse
I went to Nonna Rosa's for the first time ever today despite living up the street for years. The service was very friendly, and the food was delicious and fresh with good portions. The patio is very cozy. Forget the chain restaurants, this place actually has some heart in their food. I'll be coming back.. with friends.
Dropla
I love this place, every time I go, I wonder why I don't go more often. I guess I really don't go out to eat that often, which is why, when I do go out, this is one of my go-to spots. It's clean, the staff looks happy and the food is great! I can't say enough good things. Oh! Also, the food is cooked where you can see it, which is kind of fun! Also, I watched wayyyyyy too many kitchen nightmares, so, I get a little leery sometimes haha! No worries here! Clearly they are confidant about their food and not afraid to show us what they have!
Mom Sandie
Nona Rosa is the only place we will go for Italian food. Tina really knows how to run a restaurant and Francesco is an actual Italian person from Italy and is a top tier chef who actually cooks the food instead of delegating it to a staff. Not only do they love their customers, they give back to their community. I will always choose a local over a chain any day and I urge you to give Nona Rosa a try. You will not be disappointed. For those complaining about wait times for food-yes, they make everything fresh, not ahead of time in a warmer waiting to be served. This is not Olive Garden, people.
Patricia Osborne
It is our favorite restaurant. The food is extraordinary. Great family recipes, quality ingredients, great service, lovely atmosphere with wonderful music. What everyone looks for in a dining experience. You must try it.
Denai C
Went here for a friend's birthday dinner. The server was amazing and attentive. They made the food to order for those who had food allergies! The only reason I dropped a start was for the slow service. The food seemed to take a really long time to come out. The restaurant was not all that full so I'm not sure why so slow...
Ingrid Zaharris
We went there this past Saturday and were less than thrilled. We have been there before with mixed results. The salad greens and cucumber were very bitter and overpowered the delicious balsamic dressing. The blood orange bellini was not very good. The pork balsamica was seriously overloaded with mushrooms. The chocolate lava cake and gelato portions were tiny. They were out of creme brulee (this has basic staple ingredients!) All told, this was not worth $75 plus tip. What was good? Tiramisu, spaghetti carbonara, and arancini.
Dan Ahlfield
We had a wedding rehearsal dinner and it was the most amazing experience ever, Nonna Rosa staff took great care of us and we made wonderful memories, everybody went home full. They outdid themselves with making sure our gluten-free eaters had what they needed and even created a couple of desserts for the people that couldn't tolerate Dairy, excellent job by everybody we will be back here again, and again, and again...

Overall, a very good place, large portion size for a decent price. I'm not one for traditional foods, my Italian food is pasta and pizza, but this was very good, and by all appearances, authentic Italian cuisine. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a good Italian expiernce.
Dianne Star
We were part of a large party who arrived at different times. The server did a wonderful job keeping track of us and our orders. Food was delicious.
Jill M
Staff was absolutely wonderful, food was ok. Bread that came with meal, don't bother. 1 dish came out with cold mashed potatoes. One dish was a little dry. The 3rd dish was good. I'm willing to give this another chance next time as the staff was great.
Chell M
We were just there last night 9/14. What a wonderful relaxing experience we had! (admittedly was a bit worried after reading the unflattering reviews prior) I took my Bf there for his birthday. And Nonna's was EXACTLY what we were looking for. We sat in a quiet romantic corner and shared a bottle of wine, had a stuffed mushroom app ( i could of eaten more of them hehe) but then I prob wouldn't have eaten my meal. The main area was very nice (sorta cool that they are cooking right there) We took our time and just enjoyed the experience and our wine and ordered on our timeline. Both of our Entrees were VERY good. (and we are both pretty hard to please, we both cook very well, so finding a place for us is difficult, bf cooks by profession). I had CHICKEN BRUSCHETTA & he had the GNOCCHI BOLOGNES, both was very delicious. Salads were..."ok" that could be better but so minor, its salad. Bread and seasoned butter were good! Now about the service: If Josephine could read this: You are the most amazing server I have ever had! I can not think of the last time I had service such as yours. You def appreciate that after all the low to sub par service at most places. This Server is Attentive, pays attention (even when busy) she acknowledges you and possible needs. She let us enjoy our time there, but always came to check on us in every aspect. No rush to get out (which at most places, they are giving you your bill by time you start your entree). But we never had to wait or want for anything. If anything she waited on US. I can not speak for ANY of the other service staff but if you go Josephine is truly a gifted server. We will be back! Now if your looking for fast in and out dinner where everything is premade and comes frozen. This lil Gem is Not for you. It's def a place to enjoy. Would be perfect for any romantic date! I looked at the patio, seems nice as well. For all the neg reviews I read about Nonna's as I sat there having the most enjoyable time and good wine and food, I just shook my head in wonder at how others were so upset by this place. In any case, Thank you Nonna Rosa's and Josephine for a wonderful evening!! (I did make reservations btw, since I was unsure if needed and wanted to ensure seat)
Marci Franz
This is a fantastic neighborhood restaurant. We love the patio. They have a great happy hour. We dine in or sometimes sit at the bar and have a glass of wine and order our food to go. They also have fun special events such as wine tastings. We highly recommend Nona Rosa's.
Matt Then
First time here, came for Valentine's day. Was very busy as expected, but after we ate there, can see why. Smaller, cozy restaurant. Food was good, service was excellent, made for a great night.
Donna Martinson
Wonderful Mother’s Day Dinner here. All were pleased with their food and wine. I have a plan to bike nearby trails for several miles and then enjoy a piece of their tiramisu, inspired by just a taste.
Kari Winning
Nonna Rosa's has fabulous food and even better service. My favorite thing about Nonna Rosa's is the neighborhood atmosphere. It is clear when you walk in the door that is a local place and everyone is friendly and inviting!
A S
The food here is awesome. Compared to past years some portions have gotten smaller, but still great taste. Decent service staff, the ownership service is on site and excellent if you have them help you!
fruitofthespirit galatians522kiyee
The Alfredo with Shrimp(very large) had the best sauce creamy thick and smooth. The lasagna served very perfect thin layers of beef, vegetables and hot cheese. The food served hot. The servers are friendly and hard working. Best Alfredo I ever had tasted.
Gary Brenk
1st time here, Josephine promised our table of 7 a great hot meal, delicious chorus of tasty delicitbles, and fun times drawing on the paper covered tables. Josephine, and the Chef's crew delivered an outstanding portrayal of fine dining. Food was hot and timely , nothing was cold but the ice water, bread was indicative of Italian cuisine! Come and experience it for yourself!
daniel rowan-fuller
Wonderful food, and overall dining experience. This is not fast food, plan on taking your time. We didn't realize this, and were limited on time so we had to rush off, but I look forward to next time when I'll give myself more time to really take it in.
Brianna Carmichael
Great service and the food is delicious. Portions are very generous and they do not skimp on the seafood in the cioppino which was really impressive. I ordered it spicy and it could have been even more spicy but all in all it was very good
Scott Fitzgerald
Love this place!! The food and atmosphere is excellent. The owners of the restaurant have been there every time my wife and I go they ensure a great experience. They also have a nice little patio that is dog friendly :) I can't say enough good things about this place.
Lindsay Game
I love this place, food is amazing, the customer service is great. They make you feel like family. This should be rated the best Italian food in the metro area.
Angie Donovan
Really great authentic tasting food. Their pastas are amazing along with their staff. Everyone should try it if you haven't.
C Willi
Owner is very involved and friendly and funny!. New remodel. Menu pretty much same. But classy atmosphere delicious food!(veal)
Scott Scheerhoorn
Nice authentic Italian. Mid price range. Two for dinner no cocktails $75. Rack of lamb $30 5 on a 10 scale. Vitello saltimbocca 8 on a 10 scale. Apps were $10 each, calamari and steam mussles. 9"s.
lindsay morrow
This place is fantastic. The food is wonderful. Service is great. Atmosphere and ambience is spot on!
Suzy Harris-Ferguson
Food is great, need more servers though, our poor server had the entire patio and it was full. So, order was slow and incorrect.
Bradley Sidle
Chef makes the most delicious Mailino Mediterraneo (Mediterranean Pork). Fabulous gelato made fresh daily, and perfect wine pairing with the advice of the excellent staff. My absolute favorite.
Joanne Segner
My first visit...had fettuccini..caesar salad..bread with garlic butter..and chocolate lava cake...nice decor..friendly and efficient staff..unique was our waitress..did a great job..loved the glass my beer came in...stayed two hours..very relaxing place..wicked wort brewery directly across the street..have craft beer and music Thursday thru friday there...loved my meal and will be back!

Cristine Bergeson
This is a great place to go for a date, a party, or just a terrific meal! The food is awesome, the atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff is top notch. Parking is hard, but it's worth the trip!
Ryan Jedlicka
Food was ready on time, food was great. We picked up food. They followed capacity restrictions for those diners that dined in and all employees I saw wore their masks the time I was there
Amy Logan
The food was delicious and large portion sizes. Staff was very courteous but on the slower side. That is why I rated a 4 out of 5 stars
Mike Mitchell

Gayle Matson
We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Nonna Rosa's!! The food and the service are amazing. Stop by for a bite to eat, you won't be disappointed!
Kimberly Murray
I love Nonna Rosa's! We are from out of state and whenever we are passing through, we make sure to have a date at Nonna Rosa's. It is so wonderful to have the tastes of Italy right in the midwest. It is so romantic, but you feel comfortable wearing casual clothes (which my husband loves). I highly recommend a night out at this restaurant!
Katherine Betzel
Awesome food. Tastes like what I've had in Italy! This place was recommended to me by an Italian; he says it's the one place in the cities that tastes like his mother's homemade Italian food.
Lynn Peterson
Nonna Rosa's has excellent food. Sometimes the service can be slow if you are under a time constraint during lunch. Experienced dirty silverware during my last visit. Overall a great place to eat!!
Deneen Gannon
My go to place for italian. Salads, pastas and deserts are all wonderful. Also a nice outdoor patio.
Tommy Ward

Trever Hesse
Great food and service. Went there for lunch. Lots of options. Very nice owners. Love the mom and pop place. Will be going there again for sure

I had the chicken marcela. It had an unusual sweet flavor. I wondered why they didn't put parmesan cheese on it. Disappointed. It just didn't have the flavor. Sorry.
John Richard

Gigi Belle
Lovely place, warm and welcoming people and atmosphere. Yummy food. Looking forward to going back this summer to sit on their outdoor patio, sip wine, laugh with friends and dine.
Jen Anderson
Decent flavor, but meatballs were dense and the portion size of the artichoke dip was tiny.
Tori Thoreson
This place is so good!!! I love the carbonara and the service was great!
Isaac Hanson
Our waitress was very knowledgeable and helpful and the food was out of this world. The group of 8 of us all got different things and they were all to die for. I will be looking for any excuse to come back to Nonna Rosa's again.
Sarah Hodgson

Becky Timm
Very tasty meal, kind of slow service and got a middle table. Our fault for not making reservations for 730 pm on a Friday night. A neighborhood favorite!
Jackie Thompson
Service slow tonight. When we were served one of the specials for the night, one of the sides was substituted without our knowledge and with something the patron particularly doesn't like. Not tbe waitresses fault but poor kitchen communication.
Jess Montgomery
My favorite little itallian restaurant tucked into adorable, little downtown Robbinsdale. Tina and Francesco are like family. They and their staff make us feel exceptionally special every time!
John Bandy

Tom Peets
Good food but call to make a reservation to be sure you get a table. We got lucky they had a table left the night we just walked in off the street.
