Very friendly service and exquisite barbecue. The smell of Barbecue Cooking is worth the visit. The ribs are a dry rub and have great flavor on their own. There are two House BBQ sauces, regular and hot. Real homemade onion rings as well. A beautiful bar area and lots of history of celebrities visiting over decades.

We Catered the Market BBQ food truck for a corporate event in Bloomington. The Food was amazing and the staff were extremely efficient. They got through 350+ people in an hour and a half and everyone was ranting and raving about how delicious the food was. We will definitely be using Market Mar-B-Que again for our events

Thank you for helping Elim Lutheran Church of Robbinsdale celebrate their 100 Year Anniversary during the Whiz Bang Days parade! The food was delicious!! The crowd loved the food truck and the event. Even though we dodged some quick rain showers, people came back for more fun! And we sold out a half-hour early so I consider that a win! Mike was great. (I didn’t get the other helper’s name.) We will definitely do this again next year!

Everyone really loved the food today!! We will definitely be using you guys again! :) **I wanted to add a little more detail to my previous review... I chose to cater lunch from here for a work event, and needed to feed about 50 people. I placed a catering inquiry through their online form. They called me back right away, went through the menu choices that would best suit our group setting, and were so gracious that we chose to use their family's business. I was so impressed by the ease of everything and their communication was great!! We had our own courier service scheduled to pick up our order the morning of our event. The driver got there a bit early, but our food was hot and ready to go. We ordered Pulled Pork and Chicken Sandwiches, Mac & Cheese and Coleslaw. The portion sizes were appropriate, and no one was left hungry. The sandwiches were individually wrapped and the sides were packaged in individual servings as well. This made the process of serving lunch SO much faster and easier all around! If you're thinking about using them for an event, I highly recommend that you do!

Ate there for dinner on 1/4/23. Food was good. I had the 20oz ribeye. I asked to substitute extra coleslaw for for the fries. I was up charged without notice. Seems like a simple substitution and should hardly be an up charge. Lastly, got the bill and they added a $3+ wellness charge. I googled it and determined it's for employee benefits. Wish this was disclosed in an obvious way. Again, food was good. Service was good. Luckily I am traveling for work, so the money wasn't mine! I would recommend Market BBQ, but would make sure to ask before I make a special request based on dietary needs. Also, very glad they were open during the snow storm while many other places weren't.

I have never eaten at their restaurant before today. Any previous experience with Market BBQ has always been through the food truck or the fair grounds. I LOVE this atmosphere and the expanded menu here in NE Minneapolis! I'm so glad we ventured out of our suburban neighborhood tonight! TIP TIME: There is limited parking at this location, but plenty of seating inside. So, if you don't want to fight for a parking spot or walk a couple blocks, come out on a Thursday! TIP #2 They don't make their own desserts. Instead they partner with another local favorite, Sara Jane's Bakery in NE. They serve up fresh baked personal pie options to choose from. They are amazing! I love the cherry and strawberry rhubarb. My husband loves the key lime and french silk. They have 3-4others too!

I have only been here once but plan on going again. I had the open faced chopped brisket plate. Everything was quite delicious, as a southerner I had to use the hot BBQ sauce to get my desire spice. It quelled my BBQ cravings as someone who has been away from home for a while. I cannot wait to go back and try something else!!! I highly recommend!

Market was really cool to be at. It definitely has the old-school vibe going on, and we learned that all the decor, including the ceiling tile, was painstakingly moved from the previous location. I'm definitely romantic about history, so that felt neat, as well as the signed black-and-white portraits all over the walls. The food was good. I was a big fan of their dusted pork rinds, and I'm a big fan to a fault of chicharrón so my rec is a big deal on those (I guess?). The brisket was lovely, tender with a good smoke to it. I prefer Texas-style, but this isn't that so 5/5 on the brisket. Good job. Ribs were very flavorful, but I feel they might have been overcooked at too high a temperature for too long, rather than a low slow smoke. I love smoked meat and do a lot of it myself, and these ribs were DELICIOUS but dry and too chewy. I make my own ribs with a bite and chew, "falling off the bone" is too tender. These made me feel like I had to work hard to get meat off the bone. 3/5 on the ribs. Sides were delicious though. Coleslaw was the best I've ever had, honestly, and the fries were PERFECT. Sauces come in hot and regular, and as a fan of spicy food the hot was awesome, plenty of long-lasting heat with a great overall flavor. Good job Market, delicious food overall. I'm not sure if the ribs were tougher because we got their early (around 4:30PM on a weekday) but that's my only complaint.

Had an amazing meal here last night. The restaurant looked good - it's old school. We were sat right away and our server was awesome (I think her name was Tory) she was super attentive and quick. They had a nice Happy hour special so we got some drinks and the smoked wings. The wings were smoked and then deep fried and tasted amazing. Our meals were incredible too. I thought the brisket was some of the best I have ever had. The pork chops were really good too. I really enjoyed that all of the meats tasted differently - different seasonings. I have been to plenty of places that the chicken/pork/beef all taste the same and its hard to differentiate. That isn't the case here. Our sides were good too. We both really liked the coleslaw. Wasn't a huge fan of the beans. I saw another reviewer say that the fries were salty - she is right, but I like them that way. Incredible meal and glad to see the addition to Northeast.

The smell as soon as you walk in the door!!! FANTASTIC!! FANTASTIC!! FANTASTIC!! We could see the pit from where we sat and I even went to see them turn the meats on the rack, good Lord, it brought back memories of Southwest Texas!!! The flavor of the ribs was great, with or without either of the sauces. But.....buuuuut....try the sauces, as J.J. used to say, " Dy-No-MITE!!!! The Cole slaw was very good, not overly sweet, very tasty, best I've had. The fries were delicious, but next time I will ask for less salt, they went down quick anyway!!! Loved the atmosphere and I wonder if all the pictures on the wall are of people that have eaten here because it is a great collection of puctures!!pictures!!! Loved this place, highly reccomend it!!

Market BBQ is a spot that we’ve recently tried out. Which resulted in us going back several times with in days. I have been looking for good BBQ in Minnesota and was very moved by Anthony Polski the current owner , who is always in the front when we show up and has an amazing personality. This man shakes everyone’s hands warmly and has amazing energy when it comes to running this place that his father has had for over 70 years. It’s hard to find people who have pride in their work. I highly recommend the ribs that are perfectly smoked and tender. I’d choose their corn bread over a birthday cake. We were thoroughly impressed since Q has lived in Texas and Kansas City Missouri , major BBQ areas. This place brings us joy and THE KITCHEN STAYS OPEN UNTIL 2 A.M .

I have had ribs throughout the USA and I love these ribs! They are real meat, not "pulled pork on a bone". They have an amazing flavor and bite. If you have ever been to Rendezvous in Memphis, you know what I mean. These are just as good as the best of Memphis but with a better flavor. And that is without sauce. Amazing. Keep doing what your doing Market Barbeque!

I am writing a review because this wonderful picture came up in my Facebook timeline from this date in 2015. My brother, a buddy, and myself took our annual baseball trip and picked Minneapolis as our destination (we are from Chicago and they were playing the Cubs and Sox that weekend/week). Among the many amazing places to grab food in the Twin Cities, we stumbled upon Market Bar-B-Que. It was the only thing open when one of the games let out, so we decided to try it that night............and the next night. My brother and I got the double fried hot wings both nights and our buddy got the wings one night and ribs the next. They do food the right way and I salivate every time I see this picture. Well done, folks! I will be back again one day.

Had an absolutely wonderful experience. We've been coming here for many years foods always great, very pricey but worth it. The service is also always fairly good but never found over the top service until our visit last week. Let me say, we had Jennifer and she made our dinner wonderful. I was a big fan of market bbq at their old location in loring park but I love the new location more! Same amazing wood decor and food even better! Best hush puppies this midwest gal has ever had. I don't have a favorite meat because everything I've had was good. Even the chicken and I rarely like chicken. Staff is awesome. Parking can be easily found on side streets.

I absolutely love this place. It is beautifully decorated with all the nostalgia you could dream of in a BBQ place. The food and the pricing I find to be one of the best on the North side. My go to is the Rib Tips and the Brisket❤. No sauce needed but it is a beautiful complement. Jordan was such a pleasant young lady to speak to. She was very happy and more than ready to help me with pulling up the menu on Google maps. She was even willing to tell me the history about the restaurant while I waited for my order. The conversation with her would make anyone want to return to this BBQ restaurant just to experience just a little bit of that history. I will definitely be returning to dine in when they're ready for it.

I don't ever write reviews good or bad. However Market BBQ has been a tradition for me probably since I was 7-8 years old. We would always go on Sunday night after the RV Show in Feb. I have continued that tradition with every RV dealership I have worked for thru the years. Last night the Family owned dealership I have worked for for the past few years has also had that tradition thru the years. Last night we had the honor of coming to your new location with all of our employees and some out of town manufacturer reps and some other dealership friends. I must say I along with everyone that was with us were very impressed. You really out did yourself the restaurant looks and felt just as I remember thru the years. And I must say the rack of ribs I had last night was probably one of if not the best rack of ribs I have ever had. I now have to make plans to bring my dad in for dinner It was my dad who brought me to Market BBQ for the first time many years ago and he still remembers your original location before you moved to Nicollet location. Thanks again to you and your amazing staff for an awesome dining experience last night and looking forward to my next visit.

The biscuits are heavenly. Warm, soft, and flakey. The meat is always good. The atmosphere is nice. It's spendy, but worth the treat. Far superior to Anamales, which is a another NE BBQ joint. For my money, it's the best BBQ joint in the TC, edging out famous Dave's and Baker's Ribs. I wish a saw the food trucks out at breweries more.

Meh "Minnesota-flavor". Sorry guys, but Market seems like an old school survivor from days when there was a lot less competition around and flavor needed to be minimized in order to suit Minnesota tastebuds. This was my first stop at Market in a good 15-20 years (and I remember eating at the old location as a kid near where Target Center now stands), and it gave me no real reason to come back again any sooner. Ribs were cooked well but flavorless. Same went for the smoked wings. The BBQ sauces are a strange sour concoction that did not help. The absence of flavor in the sliced brisket made it taste more like sliced roast beef, which would have been good if it hadn't been served drenched in that sour sauce (PLEASE... put that stuff of the side... or just throw it out). $9 for a little loaf of cornbread seemed a bit much. Actually, the prices of everything were a bit much. For $30 per person I'd expect something much better (and served on actual plates rather than paper-lined metal trays like they use in prisons).

We hired Market BBQ for our Bluegrass Wedding reception. These guys know what they are doing! It was so nice to not have to stress out about anything. They arrived right when they said they would and were open to serve out food at the time we had requested. They are well oiled machines! The sandwiches were delicious! This place needs new staff! Greeter was dressed in shorts and a dirty T shirt. Looked and acted like he was from the 70s series Welcome back Kotter! This place has lost its Class! He having been a long time customer I was showing the place to a friend in town for the holiday, I was embarrassed by the very casual attitude and clown show of the staff.

Stopped by on a weekday night to meet a need for barbecue. Ordered brisket with a side of ribs. No hassle when I ordered a double side of slaw instead of slaw and fries. The meat itself was ok. Ribs were dry and I was disappointed that they didn't remove the membrane. Brisket was decently tender, but didn't realize I needed to request the sauce on the side. The thin slices were swimming in sauce that I almost thought was ketchup. Decent 'cue, just not my favorite.

Absolutely delicious, brisket was actual brisket, pork was moist, toast was buttery, and everything was just fantastic. Neat place, moved everything over from the old location. Strange music selection, but fun.

Great local place, but I was a bit disappointed by the quality in the food. The brisket sandwich was okay. The loaded baked potato did not seem fresh. The butter and sour cream were in the other bag with the salad, and I didn't see them until after I finished the potato. I want to support our local restaurants, but I'm less inclined when the food quality could be better. I probably won't order from here again. I agree with another reviewer that they could shorten the menu and try improving the quality.

I went to Market Bar-B-Que for the first time a few months ago, since I enjoy good barbecue and knew this place was a Minneapolis legend! It was a very 3/5 star, 'okay' experience, and the place was nearly empty despite it being the middle of the dinner hour. Service was good, but the ribs were not succulent or especially flavorful, and the fries were okay but lukewarm/not that seasoned. The brisket was also okay, but not great, and the house BBQ sauce just lacked a bold flavor. All 3 of our party--including one true barbecue aficionado--concurred that it was not what we expected. If I return and have a more 5/5 experience, I will certainly update this review!

It’s been a few years since I’ve visited the old Market when they were located at their original homestead on Nicollet, so I thought I’d try them recently at their new locale for a call and pickup. Ordered their half rack pork ribs and onion rings and as always, an excellent choice! Perfectly seasoned and smoked, succulent and loaded with flavor like the beat of the Texas barbecue houses I would frequent when visiting my brother in Houston back in the day. The hostess at the front desk was a total sweetheart like I remember their staff (pre-pandemic) and she ensured we had plenty of accessories and napkins and classic sauces which are as always, some of the best out there. I even a bought couple bottles of their awesome sauce since it has no preservatives, it’s made fresh and must be refrigerated. Highly recommend this place if you want authentic pit smoked BBQ!

When we walked in the smell of BBQ smacked us in the face!! From that point on there was no disappointment. Service was excellent and the food was even better. Being a Southerner I had high expectations and they met every single one. The ribs were dry rub, add your sauce as you want it. Perfect! I came from out of town for my uncles 70th birthday party. The staff were very friendly and attentive - they did a great job!!! The food was good too! The ribs and chicken were tender and tasted great! I was was expecting a buffet, but was told there wasn’t room upstairs for that which is understandable as the room was packed! I would have preferred paper plates versus eating off the trays. But other than that, I had a nice time and will definitely be back when I’m in the Twin Cities again!!! For the price - and for the hype - this was a big disappointment. Everything was fine, but that's as far as I would go. We had two full racks of ribs for our table and left a full rack for leftovers. Not because we COULDN'T finish them; because they simply weren't that good. (I have never in my life left ribs for leftovers.) The coleslaw that came with the ribs was good, but the fries were soggy and under-salted. The sides are inexpensive ($4) but tiny, and with few exceptions, unexceptional. Corn bread was quite good, mac and cheese was gooey but not particularly cheesy or flavorful, and collard greens were VERY good (though lacking spice). Overall, most backyard BBQs outpace this meal at Market by a mile. A real disappointment for a Minneapolis institution.

Food was delicious and definitely lived up to its reputation. I had the chopped bar-b-que beef brisket sandwich and it was great. The chocolate peanut butter dark beer hit the spot perfectly. We had a group of 10, and our service during the noon hour was tops. The parking lot was small and a pickup truck trying to find space there complicated things for a few moments, so we parked around the corner on the residential street, and it was nice and quiet and safe there. Would love to return there again to try another dish.

Market BBQ has a great atmosphere of the classic restaurant they say their ribs are not fall off the bone... And they're not kidding. I am a little disappointed in the dry rub ribs they had grate flavor but very little meat that I really had to work at to get off the bone for $19. My wife on the other hand had the brisket sandwich awesome brisket sandwich there was so much meat on there she ate her fill and I topped myself off with the rest of her brisket, it was very tender very juicy and Delicious. $13 was a bargain for the brisket sandwich. I will definitely be going back. P.S. excellent wait staff she attended to us very well.

Easily the best bbq in Minneapolis. My family has been going for three generations, and the high quality standard has always been consistent. While it’s hard to turn down a half rack and shrimp, the recent addition of the Philly on the menu is a must try. I’ll put their coleslaw up against anyone in the worlds. What a world. I just moved here from Louisiana and have been craving some delicious barbecue. I happened upon this place and what a blessing. I was able to get in on Valentine's Day with my family. And the experience was wonderful. Our server was a true delight and made the experience. Absolutely magnificent I would have two highly suggest trying the onion rings or barbecue chicken the portions were great, and we all got to bring stuff home.

Very dissapointed. I loved Market barbeque at the old place, and I was really excited to try this new location. We ordered the smoked chicken as appetizer, it was beautiful when I saw it. But it was so dry, almost to the point of rubbery. Then the ribs, nothing like the juicy tender meat that melted in the mouth I remembered, the rub used was the same as the chicken too ! Pork steak plate was good, again with the same flavor as all other meats, and way too many fries and toasts. I might go back again, hopefully the chef just had a bad day.

I have been going to the Market Bar-B-Que for 40 years in their various locations. They recently moved to 20 NE Lowry because their former entire block is being demolished for apartments. With that being said, I picked up two full slabs of ribs and two chicken dinners. I can not express enough how amazing it was. It has always been my family's favorite BBQ restaurant (we did like Rudolph's as well but it recently closed). With that being said, the ribs where huge, meaty, little fat and not too salty. The full chicken dinners included a half chicken of which the pieces were huge. Their regular and hot BBQ sauces were as good as ever. The overall quality of our entire meal was wonderful. I highly recommend you try the new location. Get there before 5:00 PM, as they have been very busy.

The staff were very friendly and the place has a nice ambiance. I ate the ribs and I know that they advertise the proper cooking of ribs, which is they shouldn't fall off the bone, but these were still a tad underdone. I've eaten and cooked enough smoked ribs to know. I did not eat the brisket, but if the ribs aren't done right then I'm not sure I would come back for brisket, which is the most notoriously difficult cut of meat to properly BBQ.

From the late '80's through the '90's, I ate at the old location at least a couple times a month, but hadn't been to the Market BBQ for nearly 20 years until today. The ribs (and seasoned wings) were every bit as good as I remember. The new spot is great and has same feel as the old place. If you believe ribs should fall off the bone, this is probably not your place. If, however, you believe ribs should have a bit of a "tug" and you like a nice dry rub, this is the spot! Servers and staff were as awesome as they were in the old days. It's not cheap, but it's worth every penny.

This place is a Minneapolis institution. They just recently moved to Lowry Ave. but brought everything from the old restaurant with them, so the place looks exactly like the original location. I love the sliced brisket sandwich. But my favorite thing is that they have really good hush puppies! It ain't a real bbq joint without hush puppies. Friendly service and consistently good food.

So this was my first time trying market bbq, Which is surprising because I have lived in Minneapolis all of my life and used to live maybe 3 blocks away from the location. I ordered for delivery and got the turkey sandwich with fries, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, and some chili. The food was absolutely delicious! Loved the sandwich and can’t express enough how delicious the mashed pots were and the Mac and cheese. I am also excited to see they have candied yams on the menu which I haven’t had since my grandma used to make them years ago! I definitely will be ordering from here again!

It is interesting to see how many new distilleries (where the truck are parked) are spread around our city now. The chefs in each truck are more than accommodating. Very lovely brisket, pulled pork was excellent. The hot bbq sauce is quite tasty. Mashed potatoes and gravy are great, the gravy especially was really flavorful. Mac n cheese was wonderful. Only thing that was lacking in flavor was the cornbread, try adding real corn to it. It's very moist and tender but needs a bit of a flavor punch. Overall, highly excellent and I have a new favorite bbq place!

I've ordered delivery from here twice, late at night because I get off work late. They're one of the only decent places that will deliver food at 10 or 11 at night. The food was just okay both times. The mac n cheese was cooked properly, but bland. Their hush puppies and fries were fine, but under fried so not as crispy as they should be. Tonight I ordered the fish hoagie, and recieved fish n chips with very stale bread instead. I think this place would benefit from scaling their menu down, and focusing on a few well made items.

Went to the new home for Market BBQ for dinner. Pleasantly surprised by how much of the old place was in the new place. Right down to the same pattern tablecloths and carpet on the dining room floor. Plus most of the staff returned and were happy to be back in business. We loved the onion rings and plenty of BBQ sauce tableside. The speciality cocktails were good and mixed strong. And the brisket and pulled pork was tender, smoky and oh so good. It is worth a trip to the new digs which are as easily to find. But go.

Pulled pork Sandwich OK, cat fish nugs cold and greasy. Grits and biscuits goods. Chicken fingers OK. Coleslaw not house made That's not a tough execution. I went hoping things might have changed since they moved over NE. Not so much.

I fell in love with Market BBQ at its Nicollet Ave location. Everyone can debate the style of ribs but if their style is your style you'll love it. I suggest getting rib tips if you're into a juicer rib option. Also, their new location is more intimate but maintains the feel of the old place. As it should, they brought everything, including the ceiling tiles, with them.

The new place on Lowry is beautiful! The service was very good. The onion rings were very good. The coleslaw was delicious. But I was very disappointed in the fish sandwich I ordered. The fish was too heavily breaded and very overcooked, and the bun was much too big and dry.

We've been eating at the Market for decades so we were really excited to see it was open. Didn't realize it was essentially opening weekend last night! We were almost ready to bolt when we saw the line just to put our name on the list and we were a group of eight. We decided to give it a chance even though it was packed. IT WAS WORTH IT!!! Our server was fantastic and the food was just as good as we had remembered when it was downtown. The only reason it's not at 5 stars is because when we came in to get a table, no one was at the desk for about ten minutes and it was confusing who was managing the list for a table. Even so, it worked out well and we'll be back again.

I had the rack of ribs for $30. I'm not a fan of their ribs primarily because you have to chew them off the bone. My preference is ribs that are more tender. They tasted great though. Just not a fan of this style of ribs.

A “newer” building that Market Bar-B-Que opened in NE Minneapolis. Good indoor decor, a large bar with a few tables outdoors next to the building (not a patio). Plate portions are huge! The ribs are dry rubbed, not the fall off the bone type. Not bad, but just know what you are ordering (aka read the menu) to avoid a painful letdown.
