Reviews of Hong Kong Noodle
Stephen Wang
Solid little corner restaurant. A bit of a letdown for the first time, but not a horrible experience…cont below
The main complaint is that the broth for the noodle soup dishes we had were very bland—it was like your typical water + flavoring, not actually made with some heavy soup base/broth. Outside of that, everything else was lovely. Noodles and ingredients were tasty. The roasted duck appetizer was great. Will be back to try some of their other dishes sometime.

They only serve dimsum on the weekends during lunch. Wished they served it everyday during lunch! The beef egg noodles were so yummy and the meat proportion was generation! The chicken feet is chewy, soft and flavorful! Can’t wait to go back to try out their large menu list ❤️
Con: Parking can be difficult 😂

Unassuming corner restaurant, nice looking on the inside, not a ton of atmosphere but incredible food. High price but absolutely worth it, Authentic, amazing food. Prepare to have some great leftovers for tomorrows lunch too because the portions are very generous! I'd give this place a 6 out of 5 if I could.

I would say, expensive and mediocre. Not too bad though. So; detail wise, the potstickers / dumplings were most likely frozen, the meat and filling was eh, and while crispy it was slightly soggy at the same time. Then, I got the Mongolian shrimp which was also just average. The veggies were cooked well, shrimp doneness was good, but there were not deveined. This meant there was still the intestinal track which was not very appetizing. Also, I subbed fried rice for an extra $2 and the fried rice was pitiful- see picture. It was just kind of old oily rice with a couple strands of egg in it. Disappointed. Service was wonderful though! Fast + friendly workers

Extremely authentic Chinese cuisine! Just look at my pictures for proof. You must try the restaurant when you’re in the area because you won’t be disappointed.

We ordered take out and the food was mediocre. We had shrimp and mushroom, sizzling beef, Hainanese chicken and roast duck. The flavors for the shrimp/mushroom and Hainanese chicken were bland (I've had Hainanese chicken in Singapore and expected it to taste similar). The sizzling beef was chewy but it was tasty enough. The roast duck was the savior of our meal. It was crispy and flavorful and the side of rice compliments it well.
As others mentioned, it's best to dine in. Maybe our experience would have been different.

Great place for a big, shared meal with friends. Huge menu has a ton of variety and I was impressed with the food quality. Portions are very very large so it is easy to over order. The place was recently remodeled and I found the interior charmingly sunny and clean. Our group loved the Hong Kong style noodles with brisket, the melon smoothie and the salt and pepper squid.

This place has been my goto place for authentic Hong Kong dishes. I haven't gone back since the two-year pandemic outbreak until now. Foods remain top quality. However, the portion for the squid in salt and pepper flavor appetizer is noticeably smaller. Understood the cost of doing business has gone up recently. And prices across all items have gone up at least 30 to 50% compared to two years ago.
Updated 12/17/22: Dropped in on a Saturday for a warm wonton/beef brisket noodle, and was surprised that they served dim sum. Quality wise acceptable and fairly priced in consideration of the inflation.

Service was fast and efficient! Food is not all that bad either. Some items on the menu we ordered were not available however (beef short ribs, smoothies).

When I was attending the University of Minnesota, my friends and I would eat here at least once a month. The portion sizes are generous and there’s a wide variety of tasty Chinese food. Recently, the food hasn’t been as good as it used to be, but it’s still worth the trip.

At the first I'm not too happy about it the reason because I was waiting for stay at the table for about 5mins later and then I was call someone to come and order the food of course soon we are done reading the menu and then we are so hungry and then me and my kids we are ordering it about $56 foods of course I was need to tip them I was so happy 😊😁😊😁 and then I was just giving them$10 for the tip! So just FYI when they are busy pretty much should be about the meal time like the lunch time and dinner time so just be patient waiting for them ! that is what I earn it from today!

When Village Wok on the East Bank of the U of M closed (due to light rail construction), we started going to this place. When the pandemic came around, we stopped going there because they closed for a long time, and when they reopened, whenever we called, they said they only did take out. Too far to drive just for take-out! We finally returned last night to dine in, and the original owners were gone. It just wasn't the same. Garish bright walls and super bright lighting. The food was good, and portions decent. However, I think the new owners are really heavy on the MSG because my face got tingly, and when it was time for me to go to bed, I had a raging headache! Peking Garden left the East Bank due to the building of the new stadium some years back, so I guess it's time to venture outside of the U of M to find a new favorite Cantonese restaurant . . .
Tuan Hoang
The steamed chicken wonton noodle soup always hit the spot. There also a side of ginger, scallion and salt oil that's a perfect complement for the noodle.
Daniel Tan
They nail it again ... portions which feed 4 - 6, economical in the landscape of today's inflationary pricing ... and Hmmmmmm! SO GOOD
Rebekkah Gross
Hong Kong noodle has a very extensive menu featuring lots of poltry, beef, pork, vegetarian, and seafood selections. Sit down is available and the service is professional, helpful, and timely. I recommend their dinner plates that are available after 3 pm. The plates are entrées served with white rice and an egg roll or substitutes of noodles and fried rice for an extra buck. Their cream cheese wontons are made with imitation crab just fyi I didn't know when I ordered them and was a little thrown off. Overall it is good quality food and they stay open til 10 which is a plus.
Tim Drake
Wow! Had lunch here yesterday with a friend. The outside and interior aren't much to look at, but that's not why you come here. You come for the food. And it's spectacular Chinese food. The place was very busy. I had Kung Pao Chicken. My friend had Broccoli Chicken. Both looked amazing. Mine had great flavor, plentiful vegetables and was generous in size. We were served egg drop soup with the meal. Red pepper sauce on the table allows you to turn up the heat. It was all delicious. I'll certainly be back.
Rex Vang
Got our food within a couple of minutes after ordering. The servers were attentive and friendly. The food was great. My go to dishes are the fried sole filet and Japanese fried rice.
Jim Swenson
I'm a big fan of this place. I think the food is more like 4 stars, but its priced very well. This allows a poor college student like me to still get a very generous lunch portion. A lunch portion of sesame chicken with lo mein (+ an egg roll and soup) is like $12, and I can easily get two meals out of it. Also they serve some very decent dim sum dishes between friday-sunday. I think Yangtze and Mandarin kitchen make better dim sum, but HKN is probably the 3rd best around, and it is the most convenient. If their food cost %50 more this would be a 4 star review, but this place is a solid 5 stars when you take into account the price. Also some dishes like the walnut shrimp are easily 5 stars regardless of price.
Jason Yuhas
Had the Korean Noodle Soup with Seafood and Rice Noodles and it was fantastic!
Peng Hsu
It serves a good list of Cantonese takeout style dishes with very generous quantities. The price is inexpensive but the taste is just OK. I have nothing to complain about the service. Pretty fast and efficient. Staffs are friendly too.
James Khuong
I've been here multiple times already, and I'll definitely continue to come here again. The service here is the quickest of any restaurant I've been to, and the food here is also one of the best of the Asian restaurants in the area. I sat down with my party and they immediately gave us water, tea, and took our orders right away. Highly recommend going here if you're in the area, or if you're just craving good Asian food.
MD Islam
This is one of The best asian fusion restaurants in twin cities. The food is fresh, loaded with flavor,
Great menu selection. Unlike other restaurants with big menus, This place will cook things fresh for you.
The employees are friendly.
Tiffany Khots
I go here often. Food is delicious and has been consistent. I haven’t had a bad experience. I like the lobster deal they have. It’s usually crowded and parking sucks. The food makes up for that. 🙂 …
Thuy K.
This place stays packed. After eating here though I'm not completely sure why... I'll have to give it another chance bc maybe I'm missing something. I love that they give you hot tea along with the usual cup of water. The hot and sour soup was good; I added some chili oil to it though for added spice. I had the seafood tofu hot pot and it was quite bland. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for it? Anyway, I will say I was very skeptical of it when I saw the Vietnamese words on the menu. After learning the people there were Cantonese, it made more sense.
BinLee S
To me Hong Kong Noodle was just okay.
Maybe it was what I had? (Change my mind, I don't really know what people usually order from here)
I had the Spicy Salt and Pepper Shrimp which was served with white rice. It tasted ok, 10 pieces of shrimps for $18 is a very bad portion.
Jason Dai
I always grab a quick bite here whenever I am on campus. The salt and pepper wings with rice never let me down and the price is decent 👍 …
Surabhi Singh
Hong Kong Noodles is one of my favorite chinese restaurants in town. My friends and I end up ordering the same items on the menu but its still always a treat to our palate. We order the Chicken Mushroom hotpot, the golden fried fish with garlic and the anchoy. The first two come with a side of rice. The portions are very generous.
The lobsters are on the special menu and we order them on special occasions and it is Deli-ci-ous!! They are usually $32 but you also need to order two entrees to qualify to order the lobster. Worth it if you are in a big group.
The service isn't that great. But the food makes up for it. The place is usually busy and it opens up until midnight.
Liam Keffer
Absolutely delicious food at a reasonable price. You can’t complain about good free tea either. The only reason this isn’t five stars is because we ordered frog legs and they had run out, and we had to ask for more rice. Otherwise, a great choice for authentic Chinese cuisine.
Julia Eilers
Big portions, very good food. Served with tea. The cream cheese wontons and sesame chicken with fried rice are good. The dinner specials come with an egg roll. We didn’t try the hot pot but it looked like a big hit based on other tables. Other specials include a lobster dinner special and more. Right on the U of M campus near TCF football stadium.

This is my second time here. I am from out of state and this place is always one of the recommendations given to me.
The food is great. The service is good. The place is a little small, but they made accommodations for my big family of 20+.
Julie Hull
Great quality, lots of vegetarian options including mock duck and tofu dishes. The staff really takes time to get to know their customers. Service was very fast. Their dinner specials, which are available on the weekends for lunch, are a good bang for your buck. For $8.95, you get an entree, rice and egg roll. We also had the hot tea and a melon slushy, which was quite refreshing.
Jerry Lee
Oh yeah! A trip to the Eastside of the university of Minnesota and Minneapolis has never been so good.
Situated near the sports U of MN sports arenas, this spot has a great selection of vegetable, chicken, beef, and seafood dishes.
I arrived on a Saturday afternoon and I mentioned I was expecting a few more guests and was seated quickly.
The place has a cool and active vibe. My guest spoke some Cantonese and took over the ordering. The exchange was beautiful, breathtaking and bountiful.
The food arrived quickly along with tea. The feast included a beef dish, a fish/shrimp dish and a chicken dish. In fact my guest was able to get an off menu dish created due to his knowledge of the menu, the team and language.
The flavors were fantastic and the tea hit the spot. Of course, no matter how much we ate, we ended up with something to take home.
A place to consider begore or after if headed to a basketball, hockey or swimming event.
Doesn't hurt to bring a friend who can converse with team members in their language to create something special from the kitchen!
BTW - parking is a bit tricky in the area so if you are not taking public transportation, plan accordingly.
There are a few designated parking spots behind the restaurant for guests.
Enjoy!

Very good food and service. Large portions, at least 2 meals worth! Very close to U of M campus. Will definitely go there again.

Fastest service ever. Family tried a little of everything kimchi, squid, soups, chix, beef, noodles. Best chinese/Korean food. We are now regulars and go once a week. A little tight to get to because of the light rail, but so worth it.
E G
There is food, there's good food and beyond that there's Hong Kong Noodles.
The "aunties" remember your preferences and the food is as good as in China. The best place for Sunday brunch.
Michael Nguyen
Speedy and attentive service. Food was amazing and the restaurant offered a family friendly atmosphere. Would definitely come again for tea and rice
Eric Hu
Their food has always been delicious. Service has been kind and the redesigned interior helps lighten up the environment. They’re really great with their noodle soups.
Hari Gopalakrishnan
The vegetarian options are limited but the service is quick and the people are friendly. The vegetable tofu dinner special is excellent and their lunch special is great as well. The amount of food provided is enough to take you from hungry to full!
zoo nraug
If u like Asian food then this is one of the best place to get it. The food are great and it has been around for a long time. This restaurant is very popular especially for the U of M college students.
Anna Schwartz
Pleasantly surprised to find out this place serves dimsum on the weekends! You order from the menu and pricing is transparent. Dimsum is very popular among Chinese, particularly Southern Chinese/Cantonese. It could be a long wait if you get here after the opening hour!
Angi Lester
Usually I love this place. It's the only Oriental restaurant I order from. Normally hot and delicious.
Had a problem with my order this evening, thought I could call and it would be easy to fix. I had to argue my point with whoever answered the phone and then with the manager. Was disappointing to say the least. They finally took care of the problem but I never got to tell them that my egg rolls were cold and soggy. So what should have been an enjoyable dinner, wasn't. By the time I got back everything else was cold. 😞
Simon Yu
My absolute favorite for lunch and dinner. Limited seating and parking, the food is Authentic Hong Kong style!!! Very few places like this. It's definitely a hidden gem.
Ashley Sinniah
Our favorite lunch spot for Asian food. Clean, friendly staff, excellent food. Good prices although they did increase the lunch price recently to 10-11 instead of 7-8 dollars. We will continue to go back though because that value is there.
Brooklynn Nelson
Always a wonderful experience! Food is amazing and authentic! Reasonably priced and very fresh! I love that they now have live crab and lobster! Highly recommended!
Angel
Best authentic Chinese food. One of my favorite place to eat.
Franki Kung
Wonderful and affordable dim sum on the weekend. Clean and fast service. A pretty menu design :)
dylan salber
I personally really enjoyed the pho I ordered however I envied other customers delicious looking food. I got my order very quickly and loved every bite. You can be sure I will be coming again
David Truong
I like this place a lot. It's always nice for a quick and cheap bite to eat on campus.
Uyen Pham
A great place if you are looking for a Asian restaurant in Downtown Minneapolis, prices are a bit expensive but the service was kind and the food comes fast! Gotta rate this a 5!
Dani Cheng
The food is not as good as it used to. I have been there three separate occasions during the pandemic, there times equally as disappointing. The flavors were just like any other mediocre Chinese restaurants. It used to be one of my favorite restaurants in MN. So sad. I don't think I will visit again.
Jessie Capers
Delicious 😋 Thai Chicken, Good sized Eggrolls, and the Best Stuffed Won-Ton ever plus the service was quick and the server was awesome 😊 he even brought the food curbside for me. I will be back. …
Elle Elle
Food has been phenomenal every time! Dining in: waitresses are always busy but have never neglected our table. Takeout experience here has been great as well.
Zhou Fang
Dim Sum is very good here. Not that many items, but all the items we ordered were great.
Joseph Madigan
Great food, very fast service, good price
Ty Perelman
One of the best Asian restaurants in the Twin Cities, bar none. The food is always delicious, portion sizes are always massive, service is always above and beyond, and we always leave full and with a smile. I cannot sing its praises enough. Just eat here!
Lizbeth de Padua
All standard Chinese fare was perfectly seasoned and fresh. Relaxed casual atmosphere. Impeccably clean.
Kok-Kiong Yap
The pork is relatively tough and the black pepper is mild.
Adam Moren
Always a good time at Hong Kong Noodle. Lunches and dinners are solid meals there and we usually have leftovers to enjoy later. The menu is large with something for everyone and I encourage you to try different dishes each time. I just tried the spicy Thai seafood noodle soup, was delicious and I ate way too much! Also try pea pod shoots in garlic sauce, yum!
Staff is usually pretty busy so if you need something don't be shy.
Victor Cole
All so good. DELICIOUS. Brisk and efficient service. FOOD is DELICIOUS.
Donna Wong
Not as good as it used to be. New owners and cooks. The decor and atmosphere are definitely better, but the food isn’t as good as before. It really suffers when you take out, so for best results, eat in.
abby coutlee
The food is incredible and the staff is so friendly. Quick service. The portions of food for the price is amazing! I ordered sweet & sour chicken that came with rice and an egg roll for a little over $8 and it was so much food! My husband and I will split a plate next time we go 😊 You also get complimentary tea at your table. One of my new favorite places to go!
Sarah Nguyen
Super delicious, authentic Asian food! The prices are very reasonable for the portion sizes. We didn't know what to order so we asked the hostess for suggestions and everything was absolutely delicious!
Ee Vue
Overall I really liked the place. Corner spot and actually good menu choices. Not some fast Chinese food, rather a great combination and Ala Carta meals. It may look like a hole in a wall, but it's a treasure hole in the wall.
Dyan Sheely
absolute gem! you are greeted by the amazing smell of wonderful food to come! menu is several pages of options in every meat and seafood, plus an a wide selection of veggie based dishes. Main courses are extremely large, intended for sharing. The dinner specials offer a smaller selection of dishes that are flavorful and filling. The fried rice had an abundance of egg and was very tasty. Would definitely recommend
Leah A.
Fantastic, authentic food at reasonable prices. And they're open late, which is a godsend for second shift workers. We always order extra to take home for the next day.
I see complaints about the service. Yeah, it usually takes a few reminders before they remember to bring us sugar for our tea. And once we waited a pretty long time before we got our bill. But who cares? Both times they were busy (they've always been busy when we go there, regardless of time of day), and the food more than makes up for it. The staff have never been rude to us -- just a little swamped or forgetful at times.
Parking is located behind the building, in a lot sort of across from the tobacco shop, off Ontario St. There are reserved spots for Raising Cane's near the lot entrance, then spots for Hong Kong Noodle further in. It's free parking and we haven't yet had an issue finding a spot.
W Moy
My go to place when I need some quality Cantonese cuisine. Very friendly people with delicious food at a very reasonable price. Can not go wrong.
Daniel Kanani
It's been one of my favorite Chinese lunch options for years. Typical of a family-owned Chinese restaurant, they have a strong lunch menu that's for a fair price with plenty of options. I'm in love with their egg drop soup and they're hot and sour soup is great too. I love the beef options and the fried fish is amazing. The fried noodles are good but they're a little too oily. The chicken options are also solid.
Tuan Nguyen
Great food, good customer service (friendly, will work with us to please our needs). A little over price but good amount of food, most customer take some leftovers with them. Parking is very limited and don't park anywhere that doesn't have its sign on it. They will towed your car. And please pay attention on the ticket, they added tips already but won't tell you.
Jennifer Kwong
I've been to this place for years. I usually order the seafood chow fun and/or the pepper baby squid. The style or quality seems to have shifted over the years -- I think it use to be better. However, the food is still quite tasty, maybe a little too oily for my taste now. I've experienced poor customer service to okay customer service here, but it was never great. It's a good late night option for Asian cuisine though.
Iren Bishop
This is the best chinese restaurant in the cities! I've been going there for 11 years while in school at the U, and still go back now that I've moved away. The atmosphere is cozy, the food tastes like home and the take out is just as good!
The salt and pepper chicken wings are some of the best fried chicken in the cities! Their pan fried dumplings are absolutely amazing, and I've tried my share. Mongolian beef and pork fried rice are also a favorite for my husband and me.
We used to go once every couple of weeks and totally still would if we lived a bit closer! I would give them 6 stars if I could.
Zach Schoen
I only go here on Xmas for the last several years, not a regular. A few recent negative reviews I see here had me a bit worried/sad, but glad to report all is well. Great food, friendly service. A bit hectic tonight but they appeared to be handling it well.
Anyways, just posting in case anyone else thrown by those negative reviews last few months -- don't know if it's I'm lucky, or those reviews were bogus or what, but same great experience that I've worked into a tradition and will continue to do so. :)
aurianna philavanh
Went here with a friend who missed this food since she used to go to U of M. It was surprisingly so tasty. I've never had the chives and duck before but it was so flavorful with the congee. I would totally come back to try something else. We went at 11pm and the place got packed within 20 minutes; families, solo eaters, and the college crowd. Food came out quickly and service was great .
Jennifer Jones
They have the BEST food. Quick service too! My food was ready before the estimated time.
I never did get a confirmation from their menufy ordering tho. No big deal cause like I said my food was ready and hot when I got there!
jason maney
The customer service was exceptional n the prices fair
Delivery Boy Roy
The design and service of the restaurant is beyond beautiful, to know that my order will come out in less than 5 minutes is a wonderful thing. But the important thing is that the food is beyond par. Absolutely brilliant. 😘 …
iTravel
The staff tonight are friendly and attentive. I'm not sure if something changed but I'm glad the serving size is a little better.
The last time I was here, the staff weren't very friendly the serving was small.
We will definitely be back and hopefully this nice service stays the same.
Karen Lee
Always have been a repeat customer for 12 years. My whole family loves HK Noodles. I always bring my friends here to experience genuine Cantonese menu dishes. Staff is multilingual.
Rain Code (Varim64)
Dumplings were good, beef dish I had was well done but not very flavorful. Service was great and pricing was pretty reasonable. Their lunch specials are really great deals for the amount of food you get.
Brandon Voigt
I've been here many times for the authentic Chinese food. It's pretty good, though not great. The selection is vast, the prices are reasonable, and the quantity is fulfilling. The staff is nice, though sometimes the service isn't speedy as some dishes have come out warm. I'll come back when I'm in the area, but I don't seek this place out when I want authentic Chinese.
Amanda Krinke
The food is DELICIOUS and the portion sizes are massive—even with take out! My roommate and I can get a lunch meal to share and still have leftovers. A quarantine favorite for sure.
Sharon
Great value. Huge portion size.
I tried the "popular chow mein". It's an interesting choice and honestly didn't know what I was ordering but I was curious so gave it a shot, and it's alright, not the best Chinese food ive had but it's edible and I have high expectations for authenticity. I assume there's probably better dishes on the menu, but first time coming here so I just ordered that.
Service could probably be better but I didn't expect much anyways
Manasa V
I happened to find this one while looking for places that were open on a late Saturday night and they were pretty busy as to what i expected. The service is decent and the food tasted pretty good..the quantities are super huge and i could hardly get through half of my dish! I ordered a vegetarian version of Beef chow fun and it was expensive but yes it was delicious and not very oily.
Tâm Ngô
Been eating here for at least 10 years. It was delicious 10 years ago and still delicious today. Service can be spotty sometimes but the great food and charm far outweight it. Personal favorites are the fried peppered porkchop, fish fried rice, pork and chives.
S Chang
; One of my favorite Cantonese restaurant in the Twin Cities. It's a little infamous hole in the wall! LOTS to choose from, which could get a little over whelming, but the food is the BEST!!! Everyone gets complimentary tea (Oolong, if you care) fast and friendly service! Parking is limited, but they do have a small shared parking lot in the back and off street parking. Since it's around the U of M campus sometime parking can be an issue.
Food I like and recommend trying:
Seafood tofu soup
Salt and pepper shrimp or pork
Garlic shrimp
Japanese shrimp fried rice
AND FOR EVERYONE WHOSE COMPLAINING ABOUT TIPPING. DON'T GO OUT TO EAT IF YOU DON'T PLAN ON TIPPING! Any waiter/waitress work for tips. If you have never worked in the service industry, you'll never understand what it's like to work for tips and getting minimum wage or less. This rule is applied anywhere you go out of eat.
Kayeln Veren
Pros: Large portions, good quality, large selection/variety
Cons: Service is really inconsistent and it often seems like the staff are having a competition to see who can avoid their tables the most. Some of the times we have been here, we have had to actively get up and look around for help (to take our orders after being there 30+ minutes, bring the boxes we asked for 20 minutes before). Other times service is much faster than expected - but that tends to be on the off-hours when there are only a couple customers.
Overall, I like the food and - as a student - appreciate having something to take home after spending $10-15 on a meal. However, I find the service very disappointing and I often leave frustrated after an otherwise nice time.
Peter Nguyen
Few restaurants, when reopened for indoor dining post Covid, exceited me more than Hong Kong Noodle. I'll keep this one simple- I've had many entrees on the menu here. Some of them missed the mark, but thats what happens when you get adventurous with your ordering. But the truth is that I get 2 staple items every time I come here and they are some of my favorite all-time chinese dishes!
1) Roast Duck Wonton Noodle Soup - This is one of the best bowls of soup in Minneapolis. Chewy egg noodles, chinese broccoli, a generous portion of pork/shrimp wontons, and a whole roasted duck leg in a delicious broth. Add a scoop to chili oil to level up and it will knock your socks off guaranteed.
2) Hong-Kong Style BBQ Pork - This is on the appetizers menu, but if you order it with a side of steamed white rice it becomes an incredible entree immediately. It's a barbecued pork loin that's thinly sliced and fanned. No sauce, but it doesn't need it. Add chili oil if you need spice. Its incredible.
Jackson Joyce-Lynch
I'll be honest: because I'm cheap, I pretty much only get Hong Kong Noodle's dinner specials. $8 for a huge plate of food, and bottomless tea? Sign me up.
But I never get tired of it. They've got a couple dozen specials, all for around the same price. And this is just the specials; there's a massive menu with tons of options available, and they're very accommodating if you have requests. Friendly people, busy atmosphere, feels like home.

Unique Asian food. I can't call it Chinese, as they use various Asian flavors, but it closely represents Chinese. Food is great, but as so many people mentioned, service can be terrible. I try to limit it to take out if possible, and if it is packed like it usually is during lunch and dinner peak times, forget about good service. There is a reason why it gets that busy despite the poor service... it is the food. Favorite restaurant in the Dinkytown area. Only tip for new patrons is that if you're expecting Americanized Chinese food (sweet and sour, sesame chicken, etc.), this place is not for you. They have some of that stuff but if you want to go where Asians go out to dine out, give it a try.
Eric Kleinberg
Without a doubt one of the premier Asian cuisine spots in the Cities. Frequently SRO Asian clientele very telling. I have dined along side Asian restaurant owners and their family members who choose this restaurant. Authentic dishes. Sauces perfect. Soups Excellent with three noodle choices. Service fast, food out fast. BBQ pork noodle soup is the bomb. Japanese style fried rice pot, huge, flavourful and satisfying. Garlic green bean, hollow vegetable all premo. Parking available unlike most UofM venues. Priced moderately. For years steady performance. The real deal. Go, eat the hell out of the food, leave happy.
Jasmine Au
Brought my mom, aunt and uncle here from Iowa and they loved it. They're are very critical of food from their home town of HK so bringing them here was a success because they enjoyed everything they ordered. Huge portions and friendly service.
Tim Athey
Fast service. In and out in 40 mins during lunch rush. Line waiting to get seated, rush was so bad. Food was great. Flavorful, hot, and best are the lunch specials. Egg roll, hot and sour soup, and an antrel for $8.50.
P.S. They have forks for idiots like myself who cant chopstick well.
JJ Cutuli
Authentic noodles and the best I've had in the Twin Cities. This place was originally recommended to me by a Hong Kong ex-pat, and on Sundays (and some other times) one can appreciate that this place is a favorite of the ex-pat community as they fill the dining room. High praise, in my opinion. The veggies have always been fresh and delicious. If you look through the menu closely, you can figure out how to get some of the same 'combo' dinners at a more affordable price (through replacing rice with noodles and some other sides). Go with a group and order many dishes family style. This is a wonderful restaurant.
Ben Woltmann
Been here twice and will be back. Vegetables are cooked to perfection and you can actually taste them! No overpowering sugar or salt. One of the better options in the TC for less 'Americanized' Asian food.
Wind Warrior
Another one of my hot spots for Chinese food. I do not love the parking. It kind of sucks but will get parking occasionally behind the restaurant. They open late and can normally seat my friends and I.
Pastor Phillip Dailey
Good food quick service in a very convenient location they were also open late so that's good and they were busy even late at night. My only drawback would be the same problem I have a lot of Chinese restaurants, I like soy sauce and they skimp on giving out soy sauce packets. Other than that they were great and I would go back again.
Ian Buck
The portion sizes are very generous for the amount of money you pay, but the flavors were quite bland. Also, I found some steel wool in my fried rice, which is absolutely wild. I don't think I'll be coming back.
Dan Nguyen
I eat here almost everyday during winter time and at least 3 times a month the rest of the year. Love their beef brisket wonton noodle, hot pot and fried rice dishes.
I took my parents here who live their whole life in Asian and somewhat conservative and picky with food. I was actually surprised by how much they love the food here. My dad made us eat there 3 days in a row just so that he can get their congee, a dish that I actually hadn't tried and now is my new favorite.
The service is good but don't expect the kind of service from western restaurant. But they do try hard. I personally like this kind of service where they let you eat your own meal and call them when you need anything.
Christopher Howe
Been coming here since 2010. Now that Village Wok has been swallowed up by students needing luxury, it's the best place for Asian food on campus I think. The BBQ pork wonton soup is delicious. It's hard to pick a bad thing on the menu. Oh, and be prepared for curt, fast service. Like, really curt. Enjoy.
Oh. Parking can be hard. Just bank on walking a couple blocks.
Josh Pham
Great local place. Parking is a bit difficult at times but the food is worth it. A collection of Chinese food at decent prices. High end seafood is available like 2 located for $30. Plan to wait for a table for 30 minutes.
Blafm
I love this place, I come here all the time. I'm normally not a big fan of Chinese food, but decided to give this place a try one day. They have amazing high quality authentic food that comes in huge servings for what you pay for. I recommend the Kung Pao chicken dinner combo, you won't find a better value for your money anywhere else! Customer service is great too.
Jonah Yang
Mostly consistent good Chinese food. Dim sum is very comparable to mandarin, but less variety and a bit spendier I feel
Leah Groess
The lunch special is an amazing deal! I got beef & broccoli, lo mein, soup, an egg roll, and tea for under $10 and had a ton leftover. It was also delicious!
Hercules
This place is wonderful... IF you go when it's quiet and low traffic. We had lovely service and the waiters were fun and chatty! Our food was brought out quickly!
Jason Robinson
Wide variety, some dishes are very authentic. Hunan style house chicken steamed with spices, bok choy in broth, and chow fun noodles was a great combination. Watch out for the whole clove garlic in the bok choy! Jasmine tea isn't too flowery, a good compliment to any dish.
Definitely going to be back now that I know about the parking in the back!
Aditya Karandikar
My quintessential restaurant on campus for Chinese food. Went to college at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and was a regular here. They will regularly mess up your order, service can be hit or miss, but the food is on point. The attitude of the place can turn some people off but to me it's all part of the experience. The Kung Pao chicken and General Tao's chicken is fantastic.
Steve F
Menu featured a lot of authentic dishes. Food was good with large portions. No atmosphere at all.
Samantha Matuke
Great portions for a low price - perfect for the college student. They also have a quaint sitting area surrounded by windows, which is really fun for people watching while eating!
Nathan Jelinek
Love Hong Kong Noodle ! Personally recommend the dinner / lunch specials. The portions are very generous and aren't too expensive. They run a fast paced place and serve many people very effectively! Food tastes great as well!
Anuradha Uduwage
Great Food, Great Price, (Especially for Hungry Grad Students). Should try Mongolian Chicken, Sea Food Lo-Mein from HongKong Style Menu. Great Customer service, you can get the spice level as you wish. And If you pass the lunch hour by 10-15 minutes you might still be able to get the lunch special.
Bhaargav Sriraman
We ordered Kung pao chicken, Singaporean glass noodles and mangolian sea food platter. The noodles and chicken were amazing, would recommend if you're thinking of eating at this restaurant. The food quantity is generous and they serve their food quickly.
Peter Shu
Back in the day we used to come here 2-3x a week. That was when a couple could have Curry Chicken hotpot for two and walk out for about 12 bucks. Of course that was like 20 yrs ago lol. I have literally known this place since they opened in the 90's when I was a student at the U. It is for real home cooking, as I'm from HK.
When you come expect to order and eat family style as that is the way the Chinese do it. Look around and you'll find that the place is jammed night and day with the Chinese international students. It is the only true HK eatery in the city, hands down. Over the years they have added quite a bit to the menu. Our favorites are curry brisket, BBQ plate (BBQ pork, roast duck, white chicken), Golden Sand Shrimp, noodle soups, and congee. It is the exact food that Grandpa used to go out for late night munchies in Victoria...albeit at insane American prices, and continue to go up. Special hot pots are now $16.95. Needless to say we eat at home a lot more than in college lol. This is the spot. Case closed. If you haven't been, you are missing out.
Austin Nguyen
One of the tastiest chinese restaurants in the metro area! The walnut shrimp and golden fried sole fillet with garlic are my go to!! Never disappointed ordering from here!
Voss K
Bomb.com don’t sleep on this place the lunch and dinner specials are great. I’m Asian and I got high standards on food but I give this a 5 star on their food (crying right now) makes me feel like I’m back home :)
White Jack
great Chinese food i ever had
Matthew Gantz
This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. It's really just a hole in the wall (or as hole in the wall as a sit-down Chinese restaurant can get), but they have good chicken and rice dishes at great prices. Lunch special is more than enough food and super cheap!
Sid Moorhead
Hong Kong Noodle is one of my go-to locations for versatile dinner spot. They offer a range of great dishes at many price points, such as a $7.99 dinner special menu that has includes many options. It's a great place to take a family or even have a quiet dinner by yourself. The service is fast paced and an overall efficient dining experience.
Edwin Su
Really good chinese food with fair prices. The place is ugly but the food makes up for it. 2 fried lobsters for $30. That's almost the cost if you cook yourself. Visited here 3 times and tried different dishes. Havent been disappointed.
Jiaxin Zheng
Came here for the dim sum
Andrena Seawood
Authentic dishes and over sized enough to have leftovers for dinner, lunch specials keep me coming back to Hong Kong Noodle! My son is Pescatarian and he love loves the spicy eggplant and string bean lunch specials. I love the Salt & Pepper Pork Chops! They are savory, spicy and yummy. I also love the Beef with Snow Peas lunch special! Savory and the crisp snow peas are plentiful! Another can't pass up around the UMN Campus!
John Mount
Been coming here for 20 years. Always get the roast duck, wonton Noodle. It's cooked actually the same as it was 20 years ago when I went to the University. Exactly the same dish... Awesome food, clean, pleasant atmosphere.
Kia Xiong
Best eel fried rice you can find anywhere! I would not eat the korean seafood noodle soup though. It was just strange. The broth was sweet, it was full of kimchee and fish and no seafood.
lil flip
I am truly impressed by Hong Kong Noodle. Prior to eating here, I made sure to watch the entire Godzilla anthology so that I could be well versed in such a big part of Chinese culture. I also watched The Fast and the Furious Tokyo drift, skipping the others. I did this not for my own pleasure, but to better understand Chinese culture. I, and I will admit that I was ecstatic upon arriving at this establishment, told my server all that I had learned from these important influential films, only to be met with an extreme act of kindness. My server responded with a well intentioned joke, to lighten my spirits: "that's the wrong country you inbred." Hahaha I was so pleased to see that my new friend was comfortable enough to share a joke with me so quickly! To add to the comedic value of the situation, my server Kung Pao Chicken Chow kept a Stern face the WHOLE TIME! I'm going back every Thursday. Wonderful people. Cheers! 🍻
Khanh Nguyen
I would have gave this place a solid 5 stars. 1 star taken out because of the cleanliness of this place. The food is always good. Very consistent.
Gus Ohnesorge
Good food, but bad when busy. I have ordered takeout and specifically asked if everything on the receipt is there and they've said yes, only for me to get home and have something missing. This most recent time I didn't get an order of dumplings which was $7, and I'm not going to drive back here for that.
Jonathan Lin
Pretty good chinese food. They have a very affordable lunch menu. It comes with soup and egg rolls! Very filling. I'm always stuffed here. Normal people could probably get 2 meals out of it and it only cost 7-8 bucks. Pretty authentic hong kong style chinese food.
Bill Meinholz
Great food, love the new renovations and staff still amazing as well.
Wok Star99 (99)
Great food, great service. Its my favorite place for hot and sour soup on campus!
Huy Nguyen
The best noodle soups in the Twin Cities! We had wonton noodle soup and seafood noodle soup. Loved the wontons and the fresh seafood! Really hit the spot for us this evening 👍 …
Grant Nelson
Great family style food. Definitely bring a friend or two, order a few things and share it all. Fried sole with garlic is always a good choice.
Brandon Phan
One of the best places for Chinese food within the cities for both American and Asian palettes.
Personally love the portions sizes and the flavors.
Shalom cadenillas
My family and I have been coming here for 10 years and have enjoyed the food and service every time. Quality food with good portions for a fair price.
t y
I've been eating here regularly for years. The food just keeps improving over time. One of my top, go-to Chinese food places.
Jacklyn Nelson
Service is poor but we stop by every other time we're in the cities because you can't beat the food. Fantastic dinner specials (all day weekends as well).
Christopher D
Not sure what these other posters experiences were but I have been there many times and never had any problems just order something authentic. Food quality has always been good and service good.
Zackthony Jared
This place has fed so many scholars, engineers, lawyers and will feed many more to come. If you hadn't eaten Mongolian beef at 10pm cramming for your final, you haven't truly been to UMN
C L
well, besides the rude service and racial slurs. The food here is delicious.
I wouldn't recommend going here if your a person of color who is sensitive to racism
I will still eat here because it's very good food.
YeongMin Ha
Very authentic (without actually been to Hong Kong or any part of China). Awesome food. Good portions. Loved the experience.
Peter Goldberg
Good food that was fresh and served in generous portions. Vegetarian egg rolls were bad, but the rest of the meal [hot pot] made up for it.
Monte YellowBird
Amazing food, fast service and great wait staff. I will return
Quyen Tang
Food came out fast once we got our order in. Service was okay, just have to speak up for yourself if it's busy. Large plates a definitely a plus!
Chee Yi Ong
As a Malaysian student studying overseas, I sometimes crave for Chinese dishes and this is my go-to favorite. However, unless you speak mandarin or Cantonese, the service you receive will not be as good as others'. This is very true and unforfunate.
Brenden Greenwood
Don't listen to all the whiners complaining about service. This is just American entitlement clashing with Chinese culture and values. This is a real Chinese restaurant which means you are going to get real Chinese food and you'll get it pretty fast. Don't order Americanized dishes like sesame chicken. This Hong Kong style Chinese food which means you want to order noodles. Rice is not a Hong Kong dish so skip the rice here as it is dry and hard. Noodles is what they are good at. The barbeque pork wonton noodle soup is amazing. Get ur with fun noodles.
Justin Martinez
I used to go here regularly during my college years. Delicious, quick food for a competitive price. It may be somewhat no frills but does the trick for cravings.
Angie Wettschreck
We LOVE Hong Kong Noodle. The food is fantastic, don't waste your time or money ordering 'American' choose from the fantastic Chinese dishes. Dine family style and savor the deliciousness that is Hong Kong Noodle.
BRIAN SALAMI

Hong Kong noodle is my favorite fried rice in stadium village. It's cheap enough but the key is they're open late. Perfect for take out when headed back from the library after studying late.

Xiao-yu Luo
The lobster was too salty with too much soy sauces. Other dishes was excellent.
Viktor Brenner
Best Chinese food I've had anywhere. Try the stir fried green beans, even-perhaps especially-if you're not usually a big vegetable eater.
Sam Henry
If each item on the menu was a woman- I'd convert to Mormon, build a big commune out in the hills and marry all of them.
I would be eternally happy with my decision.
Sally Phu
One of our favorite restaurants for authentic Chinese food!
D G
Sometimes it's pretty good, sometimes you get plates of food that's simultaneously steaming hot and ice cold. If you speak Chinese they're nicer.
