Amazing food! Cheap price for huge portion. We had like 4-5 boxes to take home 🤣 and the owner was really sweet, he let us try some herbal fresher from Nepal. Very interesting experience 💕

Always enjoy my time here! They have great vegetarian dishes, my favorite is their okra dish, even if you're not vegetarian (I'm not), I'm sure you'll still love the flavors each vegetarian dish offers. Love their curry and garlic naan. I usually end the meal with leftovers to take home and a cup of chai. They cater to all spice levels for their dishes. The staff is super friendly and happy to answer questions about the menu items. *note: pictures were taken on separate visits*

The momo dumplings are so delicious and were perfectly steamed. I'm not sure what the sauce was but it was amazing. The naan was extra buttery. I ordered mild spice for my curry, and my friend ordered medium. I was not strong enough for hers. The curries were fine. Plenty of seating and parking. Fast service.

Came here for my birthday lunch! Wanted to try a new indian restaurant and this place has a variety of different food, my sister and dad said they'll come back! So very good food & service!! We got chicken tikka masala which was AMAZING, the size of the chicken in it is great. Coconut curry, my mom liked it. Spicy fried rice, not exactly sure what its called but my dad got that, he said medium spice was very spicy for him! 2 Samosas, plain naan, and chicken momo's! Wish we got more naan in one order & wish there was more chicken in the momo's, too much onion for me... but my sister really loved it! Whole fam enjoyed it so yeah, this restaurant was a great choice!

It was a great experience, food was great. They had these specials for two which was an amazing deal which came with two entrees rice dessert pickle and a soup and costs between $24-28. Try it out when you are in the area. Friendly staff that were super helpful. They warned us when we were over ordering too, usually they just let you order. Definitely will return to try more food on their menu. They have a lot of vegetarian options, and local regional options. Even with the bread they have the garlic naan which is awesome but they also offer roti (which is healthier) and both stuffed and non stuffed paratha. They have a medium beer selection but there is variety in it.

If you want to eat the best food and also get a homely treatment and vibe, with owner showering some freebies/snacks to taste.. then THIS IS YOUR PLACE!! This would be my first restaurant in US where owner comes and gives some homemade pickles to try, getting good after food mouth fresheners without any limit and much more! Try the steamed momos (dimsums) they are out of the world. Every item was amazing. Wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

Not to exaggerate this place is one of the best places I’ve ever ate at. I would give it more stars if I can! I highly recommend this place without hesitation ! My family and I ordered the Coconut Shrimp curry and Chicken Tikka with fresh garlic naan bread on the side. Great for dipping the naan bread… PHENOMENAL is all it is! Thanks for the great experience will definitely come back.

Was visiting MN for work and stopped by Himalayan Restaurant for lunch based on Google Reviews. This place did not disappoint at all. Great food that tasted authentic and every staff was friendly. Also, their special salmon Tikka is a must try.

Great experience every time I visit!
Trust me I live in Michigan but the moment I land in Minneapolis the first stop I take is for a nice warm Masala Chai (Tea) and a quick Momo snack at Himalayan Restaurant.
Must try!!!

Food is finger licking good here. The owner is so kind and welcoming - he brings the whole Nepal to you with his warm words! I had a great dinner with great experience. Anyone looking for authentic Nepali food and experience, this is where you are going to find it. ✨🌟🌟 …
Prabin Poudel
This is one of the best Nepali restaurant in US. I visited often while in here at twin cities, tried all varieties of Momo, they are tasty and delicious. Biryani and choila are good too. On top of this owner Prabin dai is also welcoming. Definitely visit again.
april m
the lamb Tikka Masala was yummmyyyy. we got the sampler platter and the pyaaza tasted wonderful with the dipping sauce, but I feel without the sauce it would be too plain. kothe was probably my favorite from the platter. I wasn't a huge fan of their veggie momos in terms of flavor. I would 100% order again!!
Brianna Ellsworth
Seriously some of the best food I have ever had! If you love Indian/Tibetan food this is the place to go! I drive an hour to the cities just to eat at this place! MoMo’s are to die for, and their Creamy Kathmandu Curry…without words! Don’t walk, RUN here, It’s worth it!

Great place to have a flavourful meal. The restaurant has outside gazebo style seating arrangement as well as indoor seating arrangements. I'll definitely recommended outdoor seating for summers! The ambience is much vibrant for an outdoor dinner experience! The food offered is flavourful and has various spice level offerings based on your requirements. They so provide separate spice sauce if asked, that way you can order medium spicy if unsure and later spice your meal with side sauce. Momos are highlights for this place, being a Nepalese, Tibetan and Indian cusine based restaurants. The steamed and fried momos are a must try. The service is good. The restaurants has its own parking space comfortable for 15 or so cars. Overall a great place to try a different style of cooking with friends, families and co-workers!
Jalaja Gundrathi
The best Indian restaurant. The owner is very good - takes good care of the customers. I have been multiple times - creamy kathmandu curry , okra and momos are my favorites.
Davonte Davis
Phenomenal traditional cuisine with a fabulous lunch special that serves 2 hungry individuals. Includes: 2 soups, 2 entrees w rice, 1 side dish and a desert. Also, the best garlic naan in town!
Pratima Pathak
Very impressive Nepali restaurant!!
I loved the food. The owner is friendly and the servers are great. Very authentic. Love the decorations.
Shreya Pandey
Best Nepali food in Minneapolis. The owner is very sweet and brings us complementary pickles, papads etc every time
Zoe Sblendorio
One of the sweetest owners. They have good service with a cheerful relaxing atmosphere. And THE best Nepalese food I've ever had. The curries have the perfect amount of spice and simmer. Can't recommend this enough. I personally get the vegetarian curries, but I've had the fried rice too and it is just as good. Perfect for a date with your loved ones.
Jared
Highly recommend! Jeera aloo is the dish to get (the potato one on the right side of my picture.
Also pictured - chicken tikka masala and garlic naan.
The owner is very nice and remembers all the repeat customers.
nidhi sehami
Best Momo's in the entire city! And amazing thukpa and Fried rice! Also love their chai more than the coffee ! Palak paneer is also a must try!
Shahrin Shabnam Upoma
We ordered the non-veg combo which was enough for two people. It comes with two entrees, dal, dessert and a chutney/achar. We also ordered alu pakora as an appetizer. Everything was freshly made, served hot and tasted good. My only complaint would be the service. We had to wait long to order our food, and then even longer when we needed something. There were at least 4 servers, and only two tables of customers including us, both were a party of two. One of the server started vacuuming while we were eating our lunch, not a pleasant experience when dust is all around your food. But if you decide to take out, this is certainly a good place.
Fardosa G
The food is so so yummy I enjoyed the atmosphere and the customer service! The owner is such nice guy and helpful with menu and food choices of your flavor he makes he every you please I will be coming back again!!!
Minrui Tian
The paneer and lamb takkia masala were insanely good! The lamb kebab was also worthy to try.
L Chanel
Fantastic first experience. Great service all around - servers help at multiple tables so we met everyone, each of whom were lovely and were so well taken care of.
We ordered a lot of food! Appetizer sampler, Tandoori chicken, garlic naan, plain naan, and a combo which included choice of: soup (daal), meat curry (chicken Tikka masala), vegetarian curry (green coconut curry), side (aaloo achaar), and dessert (Lal Mohan).
We like spice and eat a lot of Indian and were pleased with the heat from medium hot. A little bit of heat but mild enough to really taste the flavor depth.
My +1 grew up in a Pakistani household so he can be a tough critic about food from these areas and we both loved our meal! My favorites were green coconut veggie curry and Tikka masala. We will definitely be back!

We LOVE LOVE LOVE Himalaya!
We have been coming for years. The food is delicious. Amazing, fantastic. I have never eaten anything that I haven’t loved. The buffet is the BEST VALUE in town. The owner remembers our family and has always treated us with such hospitality and beautiful customer service. Great parking.
Faux
Menu was clear and waiter answered all our questions. Food was hot and fresh and the sauces were explained to us. Everyone was very nice and seemed to care about making sure the food was to everyone's spice level and satisfaction. Service was a little slow even with us being the only ones there. Will definitely come back and recommend to others!
Abhimanyu Ghosh
They have probably the most authentic Indian-Nepali food in Minneapolis. Really friendly atmosphere and great service, but the food takes the cake. Everything I order from here tastes great and exactly as it should.
Always recommended their poori (fried bread) and goat curry in tomato gravy.
Update: Still a great experience, with easygoing vibes, great food, and the owner is super nice. Small but nice patio too.
Mariah Klingeman
If you’re looking for incredible food that is clearly made with love and care, look no further. This place impresses me every time. They don’t make massive portions, but what you get is so special and delicious. It sounds so silly but I think love is their #1 ingredient. You can really taste it.
Megan S
The food was excellent and wait-staff was attentive. They had nearly a full page of vegetarian and vegan friendly options, and I chose the Katmandu Curry - delicious! I went with mild and my husband went with a 3 on their 1-7 spiciness scale. He likes spicy food, but quickly wished he'd gone lighter. He still ate all of it though! We'll be back with friends and family for sure.
Smile Winget
Had the most amazing dining experience for just love their authentic momo and all their foods made with love and passion. One of the best place to enjoy food with flavors spices, served with joyful smile and warm hospitality, reasonable price and huge portions. Love the vibes, staff and at special pan at the end is to die for. Must visit this place worth for every penny you pay. Excellent vibes, food and service which is budget friendly. The restaurant logo says made with scratch totally fresh and worth it. All the star 🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠❤️

This place is great. I highly recommend the appetizer sampler, very much enjoying their mo mo's and onion/jalapeño fritters. Unfortunately I don't recall the name of my entrée, I just know that it is mushroom based. The Himalayan flavor really comes through and they even have Himalayan coffee. This place is a local favorite as well, and I could easily try every item on the menu. Highly recommended!
neha agarwal
The food is awesome as always. The hospitality is very good. Staff is good. Will definitely recommend

Hands down the best Nepali food in the town. I am a Nepalese and lived in Dallas area for 5 and half years. There is an abundance of Nepali restaurants there but Himalayan Restaurant in Minneapolis is the place where I found the best Nepalese hospitality and homely ambience. The pyaji and the vegetable mo:mo were awesome. All the correct amount of spices in the chutney and the dish overall makes them an authentic Nepali food. Totally satisfied with the experience of dine in.
Demia Black
The food is always delicious! We’ve been coming for over a decade. Our kids have grown up at Himalaya! They know us when we walk in the door, remember what we like and encourage us to try new foods! Thank you to all the staff for what you bring every day...greatness.
Gaurav Shrestha
Very warm and family friendly environment. The owner was very nice; he was personally going around the tables making sure that the food was good and the customers were happy. I would highly recommend this place; the best Nepalese restaurant in the twin cities.
Claire Mitchell
Best curry I’ve had around the twin cities. Very kind family owned restaurant, they know and welcome us every time we come in. Our favorite dish is the Chicken Tikka. Would recommend to anybody and everybody. Perfect place to eat during the summer because they have a gorgeous outdoor patio.
Mari Akimoto
My family and I have been eating here for years, it is by far one of our favorite places. The owner is so wonderful and makes you feel welcome. The food is always fresh, authentic and absolutely delicious. Highly recommend supporting this restaurant!
barkha bunkar
Best Momos Ever..!! Paan was super delicious too.
Ben
The best Naan I have ever had! Slightly sweet. My food was fantastic. I've had better rice, but that will not stop me from recommending you to eat here. Service was slow the day I went for lunch, not sure if that is a regular occurrence.
Suzanne Durkacs
Our first time at Himalayan since it was so close to a show at Hook and Ladder. It was so warm on this late October night that we ate outside on their patio. Delicious food and friendly speedy service. We parked in their lot, but there was plenty of street parking on Lake. By the time we left for our concert the patio was full and many people picked up their takeout.
Harris Kleyman
Himalayan Restaurant has fantastic food and excellent service. Their staff is consistently going above and beyond, and their pace of service doesn’t change regardless of how busy they are. They also have an awesome takeout area that keeps food very hot for pickup. Highly recommend and a regular customer! Thanks for everything.
Peter VanKoughnett
I've been here probably 20 times. It might be my favorite restaurant in Minneapolis. I like dining in because the ambience is wonderful.
Kathmandu curry is my most ordered item. The daals are excellent. The combo deals are amazing value, perfect for a date.
Pravin Dhakal
We are a regular here and really like the food. Food is delicious and reminds us of home. A lot of vegetarian/vegan option and very good service. Owner is friendly and is always present to make sure you have a good experience.
Barbara Deane
We happened to be in the neighborhood and saw the good reviews oh the Himalayan Restaurant and decided to check it out. They were right! We shared an order of chicken choyala and an order of garlic naan. Both were excellent. The choyala was just right - fresh and creative mix of seasonings without being overwhelming. Good amount of charcoal flavor on the chicken. And just the right amount of heat. Portions were plentiful. Service was fast friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.
Yuliya
Amazing food, I loved the salmon tikka dish! Was able to try several dishes with my dad for an affordable combo meal price. Definitely will stop by again when I'm in town!
J H
One of the best restaurants I've been to in the twin cities. A fantastic spread of foods, great sauces and pickles and a very generous owner. I'll be coming back to try more of the menu!
Sujan Parajuli
Best Nepali authentic restaurant in town. Loved the Paan.
Elizabeth Banks
Unlike other Indian restaurants, this restaurants food tastes like authentic Tibetan/Indian/Nepalese food. I like how they didn’t try to adjust the flavor for American tastebuds here. It tastes like the real deal and it looks good too. That’s what makes it so unique, aside from it having beautful interior/exterior. 10/10 will do it again
Aims Rau
I am a foodie and know many places with good cuisine around Minneapolis but whenever I crave for Nepalese food, Himalayan Resturant has peaked my interest in recent days. The food tastes great especially their momos. The owner is a gem of a personality and always extending his service beyond the dining experience.
Jorg Lueke
Good and interesting food with rich deep flavors I will definitely come again, on our last visit the service was a bit slow and confused though the staff was completely friendly and helpful
Alisha Keointavong
So much flavor. Everything was really good. We got the appetizer flight , garlic naan, and goat Curry. Enough to feed 2 people.
Gunjan Shakya
I love the atmosphere here. The food tastes nice. Just doesn't really taste as authentic as it should. But I don't blame the owner for that because he is preserving the most of authentic flavors while also pleasing the American palate. The friendly nature of the owner more than makes up for the lack of authentic taste. Feels like a home whenever I visit. Ask for C. Momo (Chilli Momo), Jhol Momo, and Nepali achar when you visit. These are secret menu and are only prepared upon request.
Ayantu Bikila
Himalayan is my go to spot!!! I have never been disappointed by them. The owner is the sweetest guy. The food is immaculate & service is amazing. The samosas, garlic naan, & chicken tikka masala is to die for!!! I don’t write reviews often by they deserve it!!
Jyoti Rajlawat
This is me and my husband's favorite restaurant to eat at. The food is delicious every time and the owner is an extremely kind man. He takes extra care to make sure his customers are taken care of. I overheard him talking to some customers from out of town and was very impressed to see him show them what mn nice really is. The experience and service he gave them was just as great as the one he gives to us every single time! Definitely go eat here if you are in the cities, and try the momos-you won't regret it! 5 stars all around!!
sara mccullough
Food was good. Service was a bit slow but our waiter was super friendly and nice. Will definitely eat here again!
vivek agarwal
Amazing food !! If you are looking for authentic momos (dumplings), this is probably the best place in MN to go have it. There are plenty of vegetarian options as well and all of them are equally delicious. We liked the momos (both vegetarian and chicken), chicken choyla, aloo katar ( potato and jackfruit ) a lot. Their Naan is the best we have eaten in the twin cities. Their menu is quite extensive and we have tried a lot more things and everything is equally delicious. Serving size is more than handful and we end up taking food home in boxes every time.
Owner is very kind and generous and always makes sure to take good care of us. The serving staff really does a great job every time by keeping up with the orders and service.
And their spicy is really spicy !! Love it altogether !! Our favorite eating destination.
Ju Hee Park
Owner was super friendly and kind and the food was amaaaazing! Highly recommend!!
Archana Desai
Truly a hidden gem! Can't believe we haven't been here before. The food was EXCELLENT. The weather has started to turn cold and the chai was so perfectly made to warm us up. The kids loved the lassi, which thankfully wasn't loaded with extra sugar. The Momos, saag paneer and vegetarian thukpa were all great. And the green curry is a must try! The management was also super friendly. They gave us some toys when we sat down for the kids to play with while we waited for the food. Love this place and we can't wait to go back!
Amita Nakarmi
Great place for authentic Nepalese food. Friendly staffs and varieties for food choice. Food taste really good. Feels like eating at Nepal. Decoration and environment is very nice.
Rebecca Seppanen
Me and my husband just went here. The servers were so nice! We did the combo meal with a meat And veggie curry and split it. I also had chaya. We also ordered garlic naan. We loved everything in front of us. I had this on my list of restaurants to try and also had recommendations from friends. Highly recommend. Also some of the best naan.
Matt Davidson
My wife and I love this restaurant! We come here at least once a month, and my wife’s family has been coming here for years. Authentic food and great service!
Alondra Cano
Locally owned and tasty food for the whole family, our go-to spot for buffet and staff lunches. Consistent quality and prompt service, a true neighborhood gem!
Katy Friends
Got takeout. Food was beyond awesome! Wow! My friend and I split the combo meal thing. We got the garbanzo bean curry as well as the chicken and coconut with raisin. The chicken and coconut is a favorite. I cannot wait to go back and get it again. There was also some type of potato salad that came with us that was phenomenal. The only thing that was not exciting was the traditional soup. Tasted like water compared to everything else.
Mark Brady
Been here a few times, It was very good each time, not seen the buffet.
Deb Sherrer
Every experience I’ve ever had here was excellent. Whether I was dining in or picking up take out, the food was always perfect and the service was excellent. I highly recommend them.
Yaoying Li
Always like to go there. Everything is so delicious, fresh, warm and comforting. I had couple meals here. It’s consistent in tastes of food. Mango dessert is really good. People are friendly. It gets busy sometime and it can be slow, but not too long.
Jenna Hougen
SO GOOD! Everything we ate was so flavorful. I want to eat everything on the menu. Vegetarian and vegan and gluten free friendly!
Chris Storlie
Lovely little place with fantastic food! Support local and small businesses!
Mike Curran
Absolutely fantastic, as always. They have a $25.95 combo meal deal with daal, two curries, a side, and desserts. Absolutely the best deal in town.
Niroj Kandel
Best food in town. Best part is hajmola and supari.
Ariane Laxo
Nearly everything on the menu (except a few fried things and naan) is gluten free, though the menu doesn't label it all GF. Tasty and safe for celiac!
Kasey Salazar
Delicious food, great environment, owner is very attentive to his clients! Recommend 100% must try the chicken tikki masala with their garlic naan!
Dinesh Shrestha
If you are hungry and want to taste varieties of food in reasonable price, then this is the excellent place to go. This place has varieties of delicious food. Nice and friendly environment. Easy access. Near from the airport. Have enough parking lot.
Surekshya Sharma
The food was great!! Everybody loved it. Would recommend if any one of you want an authentic taste of Nepal ❤️❤️❤️
Yasmin Ali
Honestly one of the best meals i’ve ever had, especially their garlic naan is the best in town!
Evan B
Spectacular experience. A table absolutely loaded with food for a steal of a deal. Everything was delicious and the staff was friendly. It's a place I'd really love to visit again.
Update: still awesome.
Cat Brooks
DELICIOUS food & friendly service! The momos are THE BEST! Really enjoyed the palak paneer too and the garlic naan can’t be beat. Highly highly recommend this restaurant!
T Tsen
Placed a to go order with a very friendly person. The momo chicken dumplings were so delicious. A must try. So juicy and fresh with great combination with the red sauce they come with on the side.Chicken tandori and veggie soup were good too.
Jim Schutjer
We enjoyed this restaurant a lot. Our recent visit on a Thursday evening was our second; I think the place compares vary favorably with Everest on Grand where we’ve eaten numerous times. The sauces seemed just shade lighter and less earthy. The vegetables - though certainly not under cooked - were a little more identifiable.
Our server was efficient - but not really attentive or friendly. The prices seemed a bit less then Everest. Parking was easy. The dining room appeared well tended. The manager/owner was highly visible.
Mathangi Swaminathan
This place never disappoints! Their momos in tomato sauce (thupka) is delicious and I come here all the way mainly for this. The service is great, there are lots of vegetarian options. Their wheat noodles is also incredibly delicious.
John Elzaibak (الصندوق)
Great food, I got the chicken Tikka, wad good.
Brady Lange
Absolutely delectable!
I ordered takeout Himalayan Restaurant’s Ram Toria Aloo (Okra) [Extra Extra Hot] and it had a solid spiciness level to it. The okra, potatoes, and tomatoes were cooked wonderfully and the Nepalese spices brought everything together! The Half Momo (All Vegetarian) were delicious as well!
I hope to be ordering again soon!
Jacob Eng
The food is hand made and extremely delicious!! Lots of good flavor and a very great experience overall!
Russ Banta
Food is fantastic! Friendly, attentive service, comfortable seating and a very nice patio. They were very busy, (Friday night) but service was very good, food came out in good time, no delay at all. Definitely will come back next time we are in town!
Abigail Boone
Fresh delicious lamb dishes. The food was exquisite! Many flavors meshing together for absolute perfection. The mango chutney is fresh and very yummy. Very nice people
Dillon Lee
I had the Himalayan platter and the kataar-aaloo and both were fantastic! Excellent savory profile and juiciness on both of the dumplings (Kathmandu mono and kothe), and delicious caramelization on both the samosa and pyaazi!!! I was very impressed overall, and would recommend a visit for anybody that likes curries, tasty meats, has gluten allergies, or wants a new savory spin on jackfruit that's also vegetarian! 10/10!
(P.S.: I accidentally ate both pairs of dumplings before taking a picture because they looked and tasted so good!)
Mahesh Thakurathi
Excellent authentic Nepali food. I had goat curry, momo, naan and they were delicious. Owner is super friendly and helpful. He gave us several dishes to try out without any charge. I Highly recommend this place.
IHTMT78
The restaurant is very nice and clean. Plus, it has nice outside seating. The owner is super nice. Great service 👍 We have been coming here for so many years and the favor is always consistent. Our favorite dishes is Goat curry, Fish curry, Momo, Chicken Tikka Masala and of course my #1 is Garlic Nan bread. They make it fresh per order. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
Aayush Ratna Tuladhar
Authentic Nepali food in the heart of Minneapolis. We are regular customers of Himalayan and love coming back here. They have great vegan options as well. Highly recommend if you want to try Nepali, Indian food.
Rhoda Giir
This place is a 10/10 highly recommend! Great customer service, food came quickly, and the food was delicious ☺️
Nader Banilohi
Wow some fine Nepalese dishes on the menu! Amazing spices! The momos are a must have anytime you come here.
Susmita Manasi
I really like this place. The food is super delicious and the price is reasonable. This is in fact one my favorite restaurants in Minneapolis. I specially love their combo meal. It comes with multiple items and is a very cost effective choice for 2 people.
Satori L
Came here with a party of 3 and we all shared our dishes with each other. Everything was delicious and we ended up recommending this place to folks we met during our trip! It has a really cute garden/outdoor seating area that faces the street!
Kaja Vang
I’ve been coming here for the last 3 years, and the chicken tikka and the paleek paneer is always perfect and consistently made! I’ve always had great service - even when they’re super busy. On top of that, the prices of the food is decently priced and the restaurant atmosphere is wonderful and welcoming. All of my family, friends and coworkers have been brought here and have been loyal customers since then as well. Love this place, I literally consider the owner my father by the way he treats me and my partner and how he already knows our order but still asks what we would like - just in case we wanted to try something different.
Darcy Widmayer
Love this place! Very friendly staff, nice atmosphere and incredible food. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options. The veggie green curry and Kathmandu curry are excellent!
Stephanie Freund
I come here for the Tikka Masala and Garlic Naan, but have found other amazing things on the menu. Their lunch and weekend buffets are a good way to try things you're not sure of. I love supporting this local business, especially when the owner donated 100% of the proceeds to Nepal when they needed help after the earthquake. Support local, support the world.
S SH
This place is amazing, the staff is very friendly, service is quick and the food is just amazing! I always stop here whenever I'm in Minneapolis and always have enjoyed the atmosphere and my time, highly recommend especially if you enjoy Nepalese food.
Ramesh Shrestha
I loved their Nepalese Steamed Chicken Momo. The owner showed great hospitality and I will visit this restaurant again for sure.
Jinal Suthar
Very delicious food! The Memos are extraordinary in taste. Kathmandu curry and naan are outstanding. The owner is very humble. Excellent place for delicious food!!
Jim Wirwille
My first experience with Nepalese cuisine and it was delicious. The garlic naan is a must try!
Dharma Raj Basaula
Such a great place to have authentic NEPALI food! The best momos around the twin cities metro area. The owner(Prabin dai) was so friendly and other staffs were nice too. Definitely my choice of place that feels like home. Oh, and the mitha pan is a must try!
Ben MacKinney
Amazing food! Probably the best buffet in the city. Healthy fresh made, new dishes everyday and locally sourced. Also it's Nepali not Indian.
Jennifer
Amazing food and friendly staff, was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. Great authentic dishes and welcoming owners, will definitely come again.
Darshna Jain
Very tasty food. I always enjoy my time at the Himalayan restaurant. The uncle is really sweet who loves to feed people. Love Palak Paneer and Chilly momos!!
Anna Hori
We enjoyed our lunch! Good food, especially the chicken tikka masala. Also we liked all of the plants!
Brandon Mullins
We have been coming here since Himalayan was just a small place on Franklin over 10 years ago. The food is as amazing as ever and the team running it the very best. Highly recommended — it’s almost enough reason to move back to Minnesota!
Aayush Barma K C
I’ve been here countless times and I always head out of this place similing and full. The place and the setting reminds me of home. Please enjoy the variety of savory Nepalese dishes in this place and eat to your heart’s content.
Patrick Kelly
Surprisingly good lunch buffet with fresh, well prepared ingredients. It's all tasty and quite mild but they change every day. You can tweak your selections with tamarind, mint or hot sauces.
Bobby Long
Very good service. Food is excellent and a great price. $25.97 combo meal for two includes two entrees, side, dessert.

They have an incredible dinner for two combo meal -- two entrees, soup, achaar, and a dessert for like $25. Ask for digestives at the end of the meal!! Try all the digestives! You won't forget it.
Ashree subedi
Awesome service. I come to this place mostly because I miss this paan!!!
Binita Subedi
I had Great experience with this restaurant. The food was delicious and I absolutely adore owner uncle :) He was so friendly and made Paan for us.
Kailee Carlson
Ok the flavors in the dishes at this place are incredible. Our waitress recommended the Chicken Tikka Masala and it was SO GOOD. You choose your spice rating 1-6, 6 being the spiciest. I chose a 2 thinking it would have somewhat of a kick to it, but it was extremely mild. I would do at least a 3 or 4 next time. It came with delicious Jasmine rice and I got the garlic naan as well. You could smell the garlic on the naan as soon as it was on the table. I would highly recommend these and I took about half of everything home so I can enjoy again later! My friend had the Chicken Tandoori. It was basically tender chicken with a little side of sauce and some veggies. It was good, but I would do the tikka masala over the tandoori. They have a parking lot in front otherwise free street parking around. Ambience of the place is nothing fancy, but it's clean and they have quite a bit of a seating. Will definitely come back.
Mohammed Farah
Love the food and the customer service. My friends and I had the opportunity to speak with the owner and he was very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend!!
Amber Sousa
The best authentic food in minneapolis! My all time favorite restaurant. Get: Samosa, Chicken tikka (medium hot), with Garlic Naan.
Mark Ogawa
My family brought me to The Himalayan Restaurant for Father's Day because they know I really enjoy their offerings. I have eaten here enough times that I've tried most of the items on their menu so I ordered my favorite: The Chicken Choyla. I ordered it very spicy as is my habit and was satisfied. I was only slightly disappointed that their hot sauce was a bit heavy on the vinegar but overall the meal was quite tasty. If I were forced to choose, I would probably have to say that the hot sauce at their St. Paul competitor (The Everest) is a bit better but I would not hesitate to eat at either establishment. Will definitely return regularly. {:^D

Mawrgyn Roper
My favorite lunch in Minneapolis. I only go for the buffet. Different buffet menu every day. Best customer service.
Paul K
Good food and friendly staff. They could use a bit of updating, and most lights were turned off. It was a lunch time meal and it just felt dark and closed in because of the lack of lights. Most people that came in were doing takeout and yet it was very quiet inside with us being the only ones eating in there.
Law 2012
I’ve been there with my wife and kid, my daughter is kind of person who never stay still while eating, the owner was very kind that he gave some toys to her and he didn’t forget to clean it up before hanging to her.
I didn’t mention about the foods because this is Indian type with lots of herb, if you prefer light flavor you might hate it. But for my family specially my wife who was first time trying Indian food, she loves it.
We’ll go back to see them in the near future :)
Cary Johnston
The food is fresh and delicious. It's busy so you have to wait a little sometimes, but it's worth it!
Natalya Guijarro

ANANT AGARWAL
Good food.
Feedback- 1)The momos filling could have been better.
2) The taste was great for everything we ordered but the service could have been better; i give them the benefit of doubt that’s its mother’s day eve and its very busy.
Highly recommended for good nepalese food.
Garvin Jellison
Great food! Reasonably priced, large portions, decent spice range. Love the Himalayan Platter for sample of the appetizers, great for 2 people to share. Staff was very friendly. Will be back frequently
Joni True
Fabulous food but cooks negligent with special orders and slow service. Waitress never came back or asked is everything OK 🤨 …
Andy McClure
This place is so good. I'd love to point out highlights for you, but honestly, everything here is amazing. It's rich and flavorful, but not too heavy. They have a very efficient carryout system, which is nice, as it's a busy, popular spot. Expect a wait for dine-in.
Sunita Karki
I always come here to try momo. It is one of my favorite places. I love coming here not only for the delicious food but also for the wonderful experience this place creates. Thank you so much all the servers for being so polite, welcoming, and respectful. See you soon! : )
Phil Denuh
Always a great place to stop and grab a bite. We love their Naan bread, so crispy but yet soft, so crunchy on the bite but not over done. All the food we've had here is always so good. Definitely encourage anyone to go and try their food.

Best Nepali restaurant ever. The owner is super nice, and the hospitality you will get from there is beyond impressive. Must try their momos. If you are southeast Asian, ask for the mouth fresheners after eating, they make awesome paan.
Rachana Chhetri
Food is very good. And the best part is it’s environment and hospitality. I really suggest to go over there.
Alyson Sweet Mohamed
Our favorite restaurant with the best service and most delicious food. Visit a few times and you will become family. Try the palak paneer and goat curry. Anything savory goes beautifully with the mango chutney. Don't miss the momos or the chai! Well, we havent tried anything here we didn't love.
Thank you for many years of amazing food and smiles. We will be back everytime we come home to visit. -Alyson and Ali

Best Nepali restaurant in the midwest! Food is authentic and the owner (Prabin dai) welcomes you with smiles all the time. Been here multiple times and this place never disappoints.

Service was a little slow, but the food was amazing. The momos and the kothe made for really fun and delicious appetizers. The whole meal was worth it even if it took some time to arrive.

Celia Gould
What a wonderful place! Casual but with a wonderful ambiance! The food is beyond delicious and the service is bar none!
xavier frank
I’ve been here twice now and the food is very good. I’ve tried a couple of their curries and they were a delight. The samosas are also wonderful here. I have to take off one star because the service is very slow.
Jessica Nelson
A few years back when I moved to the neighborhood I ate here with a friend. I had never had curry before...Their coconut chicken curry absolutely rocked my world. My eyes LIT up! I instantly became obsessed. The flavor, the spice profile and balance was absolutely divine.
The portions are quite large, enough to split or take home. Makes great leftovers. I even take home the sauce if I've finished the chicken, it's that good haha. Everything I've tried there over the years has been absolutely wonderful. Not a disappointment to speak of.
The staff are kind, courteous, speedy, and attentive.
I have tried curry elsewhere but theirs was and remains unforgettable.
MAHESH CHIMANPURE
The food is always awesome. I am going there from 2017 , every time food quality and service is always great.
Jon Hilgers
Absolutely our favorite restaurant in the Twin Cities. The owners are warm and great and super welcoming. Tons of options for both carnivores and vegetarians / vegans. Everything is delicious so it's hard to recommend one thing. Try the momo, which are Nepalese dumplings. All of the curries are delicious, but I particularly like the jackfruit and mushroom versions. Husband loves all of the chicken options: choyla, chili, tandoori. Try anything, it's all great.
Update: We had Himalayan for lunch today and it seems impossible but everything has gotten even better. So so good.
Amal Mahdi
I recommend this restaurant for anyone, it’s actually very good and food is tasty(;)
Nolan Urban
The aloo ko ochar I preferred, the recipe is phenomenal. Additionally, k haven’t found another place that serves moola ochar (curried radish)
Lynne B
Service was good, had the lamb curry and it was a good sauce with very tiny bits of overcooked lamb meat...Samosas had a very thick tough outside but the inside was good...rice was not as flavorful as Basmati Rice I have had at other restaurants. We also had a shrimp curry that was flavorful with large shrimps that unfortunately were tough to chew... I do not reccomend their mango lassie because it had some weird spices in it that made it taste like a bad eggnog.
Would I go back there....No.
Jasmine Grika
Wonderful staff and food! Such an authentic place to go.
Hamdi Nur
Amazing food and great service! They are so friendly and I love coming here for the food!!
Yashraj Ahir
This has to be the best Nepali/Pahadi(Mountain) food in the whole of Minneapolis-Saint Paul twin cities area.
We had Momos and the Thukpa. The chutney with Momos was amazing, we had mild hot and very hot as our chutney spice level varieties.
The Thukpa noodle soup was really amazing, we could feel the freshness of the vegetables and the whole make of the item.
The service was excellent, the feel/music/vibe was really Indian and the owner really cares about the people, place and the food here.
Also, on a different note, we got free mouth freshener (Pan) from the owner Mr. Pravin.
Good place.
Siken Dongol
Great place to eat authentic Nepali and Newari food. Place is full of amazing painting from Nepal.
Shrey Pareek
Really amazing place. The food was excellent. Their momos and hot sauce are a must have combination. The staff was extremely friendly and made us feel at home. The owner was really sweet and provided excellent service. They also gave us 3 pieces of free garlic naan. Would definitely recommend it to everyone. Go here just for the homely environment, even if Nepalese food isn’t something you would do normally.
Baadal Chitrakar
I haven’t really tried their Indian foods, so I can’t really comment on it but for Nepalese foods, this is the best restaurant in the metro. The taste is very authentic and is also reasonably priced. I am not affiliated to this restaurant, but I can easily say that this place is a lot better and reasonably priced than the Gorkha Palace. Gorkha Palace’s samosas are better than here, but that’s about it. Himalayan is the place to go if you want to try authentic Nepalese food. And the owner is really kind hearted as well.
Steven Reierson
Best Nepali food I've had in the US so far. Service was great - the owner gave us free refills of chai tea. The atmosphere was also really nice with lots of potted plants, bulb lights, and a cozy outdoor area.
Ying Jin
Food is always amazing. The flavors are so balanced and subtle. Seasoning is always on point. This is one of the best restaurants in the twin cities. Don't sleep on it
Catherine Glenn-Stone
I love this restaurant! Everything I've ever had at the Himalayan Restaurant has been extremely delicious and seasoned perfectly. The space is beautiful, the owner and staff are so kind and very attentive, they have off street parking, a lot of vegetarian options, and the best mango lassi in town! I ordered take out today and the owner packed it up with an amazing amount of care. As always everything was fantastic! I look forward to the day when it's safe for everyone to eat indoors again and I can go to their awesome lunch buffet.
Abel Martinez
Very good food we go many times and big servings, very friendly
Charlotte Tenneson
the lamb curry is the best curry. definitely the highlight of my week 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
Soni Basnet
Great food! Great place! And overall great 😊 people! Love it here 💕 …
Caitlyn Baxter
Delicious! The restaurant is clean and spacious and the staff were so kind and friendly. There were a ton of vegetarian options, and everything we had was absolutely fantastic. We had the Himalayan platter (subbed veggie Kothe), creamy Kathmandu curry, regular and garlic naan, and mango lassi. We can’t wait to come back!! Bonus: the staffs comfortable banter with other patrons told us they were clearly regulars, and created such a positive and lively atmosphere.
Suzu Tamu
Lovely restaurant, amazing staff and the owner is very friendly; food is very reminiscent of Nepal will come again 😊 …
K
SO GOOD. Really nice staff too. Closest Nepali food we have found so far! On-site parking is a huge plus as well!
Carrie
This is, hands down, my favorite restaurant. I have ordered food from here on a regular (like, embarrassingly regular) basis for the past 7 years I’ve lived in Minneapolis and have never been disappointed in the quality of food. I’ve eaten in the restaurant 5+ times and again, the food is consistently delicious. The staff are friendly and kind. I bring all my friends and out of town visitors here. I’m a bit of a fan girl, you might say.
Jamie
I got the chilli momos with lamb and the chicken fried rice. The momos we're wonderful: the lamb filling was juicy, the wrapper dough was tender, and the chilli sauce the momos were smothered in was delicious, hearty, and perfect for a cold winter's day. Just the right amount of spicy. The fried rice was also good: rice was the right texture and it was flavorful. I was pleasantly surprised to see so many vegetables in there and my extremely picky 5 year old nephew was able to be convinced to eat a broccoli floret (which he'd never eaten) and stated he liked it! That is high praise! I knocked off a star because of the chicken. It was dry and hard to chew. The flavor was good, but the chicken itself was hard and unpleasant to eat. Like it was either way overcooked or frozen for too long. I'd love to go back for momos and veggie fried rice. But the chicken will stay off plate for now.
Sailesh Timilsena
Great food. Great service. Every time I come to Minneapolis, I always visit this restaurant.
Shaleen Meyer
I've been going here for decades now. I absolutely love it and if you haven't been, then you're missing out.
mani ajjarapu
Great momos and vegetarian dishes. Kathmandu Curry is my favorite
Nikesh Niraula
A fine place for Nepali and Indian dishes. You should definitely check it out.
Tusha Devjani Barman
Have been going to this place since 2014. I love this place specially their momos. These are the best in twin cities. I also like their choyala, kothe ( fried momo),chicken tikka masala and garlic nan. Overall nice environment inside the restaurant. Plenty of parking spots.
nasra ali
If you were amazing food taste and great owner that cares for his customers don’t be shy to try this place. Everything I came here my food was out of 10
ulson shrestha
Very good food! One of the best Nepali food in the city!

My favorite restaurant! Great food and wonderful service!
Jake Dhillon
Cute local family run restaurant. Food was great, coconut shrimp curry & garlic naan...mmmm Owner came over and greeted us. Very welcoming. Enough space for kids and families.
Simran Khatri
Great taste and welcoming environment.
Nepalese in MN must visit once
Jessica Toliver
The Himalayan is hands down a staple of Minneapolis. Their food is always hot, and flavorful and the owner is always so kind. Whenever my coworkers and I have a long day at work at ANW Hospital we will always order lunch to go from there to lift our spirits. I always get the Palak Paneer no Paneer sun Tofu. It always never fails me and is always so delicious!
Emma Dressel
I’ve only ordered from here twice, but i’m absolutely hooked. Very very very good food. Try the coconut chicken curry, chicken chili, aloo paratha and the mango pudding. Staff is super sweet and friendly. Food is prepared quickly. I’d give 6 stars if I could.
Anubhav Luitel
Himalayan Restaurant has always been one of my favorite restaurants for a variety of reasons. First, as soon as you enter you are greeted with respect. All the employees are so polite, friendly, and respectful. Second, I can order without thinking too much because I know that no matter what I order it is gonna be delicious. I would choose to go here whenever I get a chance.
I went here for a take out on Dec 4, 2020. Yes! I love this place so much that I remembered to post a review even after two and a half months.
I strongly recommend you to visit this place now that dine-in is also open. The ambience is really peaceful.
Thank you Himalayan Restaurant for always serving us with great food and great service! :)
Alex Clark
Amazing place, the best in town. Maybe even the country!
Kishor Kaphle
Amazing place for Nepali and Indian cuisine. We had Steam Momo, Kothe Momo, they were tasty. Owner was so friendly. Mitha pan at the end was exceptional.
Sara R
Incredible. Very authentic.. if you’ve had the real deal in Nepal you’re gonna love this place!
Nick Thorsen
Food is tasty, owner is nice and makes sure everyone is having a good time.
White-people spicy is definitely a mild, I would recommend mild-medium for those who are comfortable with Cholula hot sauce.
Rutvij Shah
One of the best places to eat Nepalese and Indian food.
Kaitlin Khanal
This is one of our go to stops when we visit the metro area. They have the best Nepali Food around. Having a family born and raised in Nepal, coming to this place is like coming home. We have yet to have anything that we didn’t like. The vibe is relaxed, the food is amazing, and the people are wonderful. You will not be disappointed.
nabin ghimire
Authentic Nepali cuisine, one of the finest nepali and Indian restaurants in the Midwest region. Must try place. Will visit again.
Mohamed Barre
Absolutely great food and wonderful hospitality each visit!
M Nadim Sz
The best Indian food I've ever had. Very nice management and staff. I'll be going there each time I visit Minneapolis.
Ben Tientcheu
Loved the Tofu Biriany here made with olive oil. Friendly workers and owner. I keep coming back.
Ve Loves to Eat
Unlimited rice, cute setting, friendly boss. Personally loved the Khasi ko Masu (goat curry) and Creamy Kathmandu Curry. Support Nepali-owned restaurant 🇳🇵
Kushal Koirala
Awesome place. The food was delicious and the staff ensured that I was well taken care of. Will definitely visit again.
Benny charles
Love this spot. The food is great, but that's not even why I'm writing. Doordash dropped the ball and brought me the wrong order. The restaurant then went out of their way to bring me my correct order themselves. Above and beyond service. I'll recommend to anyone (and don't forget the food is crazy good as well)
Arati Pokhrel
Very authentic and wonderful service!! The owner is super nice and is always there to help you get the best experience. It’s a go to place for me and friends!! Highly recommend!
Rebecca Montanari
Five stars for the food and SO MANY vegetarian options. The green curry is one of my favorites as well as the bean soup.
It's so nice to have a place that offers a wide range of vegetarian options so you can have a meal with lots of different items - you're not just stuck ordering the 1 vegetarian item on the menu like most places.
The restaurant itself is not the prettiest (E Lake St location), but each time I have dined inside, the servers were nice & there is off-street parking. Last time I went, they were pretty backed up with to-go orders, so be prepared to wait a while during busy times -- which is to be expected during COVID times!!
Rory Banta
Amazing food, good atmosphere. If you like Indian food then you will love this. We ordered a lot and all of the dishes were nothing short of great.
Gabriel Watkins
Food is great, service not so much. And all of our sugar was brought to us wet..... that's gross. Waiting service just needs to be more attentive.
Ashea Sparrow
My family love love LOVES this place. We have an energetic 3yr old who has made restaurant dining nearly impossible with the exception of the buffet at this place. Kids 7 and under eat free which is awesome for the pocketbook, since I never know if he's going to eat like a bear or a bird. The food is fabulous and the staff are kind and attentive. Eat here, you won't regret it!
Henri Parenteau
Awesome food and great service! Love the mango lassi
Hannah Joyce
One of my favorite places to eat in the Twin Cities! Fantastic menu, buffet, and friendliest service. I use them regularly for catering too. Always a hit with people who are trying their food for the first time.
Bhavana Harish
Very nice place, tasty food and the highlight is the very friendly owner. Thank you for your hospitality.
Carlos Acosta
This is one of my favorite spots in the twin cities. The owner is super nice and friendly and really brings a welcoming atmosphere full of heart. The staff are courteous and accommodating and friendly to boot. But let's get down to the point: the food. I've had the coconut chicken curry and I dont think I could have a bad day after eating it. The curry has good body but not too weighty along with a beautiful flavor accented by a slow heat that dances on your tongue. I had a medium spice level. I like spicy foods but not over the top spice. Medium was a good level for me. Ask your servers for more info if you wanna know the heat levels. Overall, this place is a treasure for the community and I cannot give proper justice to how good the food is. Highly recommend.
Paul Turnbloom
The food was delicious. I had a vegetable curry on special, and it was one of the best-tasting curries I've ever had.
We did wait quite a while to get our food, but that doesn't seem like the typical experience here. (I think the server accidentally forgot to put in our order because everyone else was served considerably faster.) Not a huge deal. I'll definitely be returning.
K Gerdes
Favorite tikka malasa ever!! I always have a great experience here. Always get garlic naan!
Tyler Thurmes
Best spot in Longfellow! Came directly here after my 14 hour drive back from Estes
Jasmine Rivera
Friendly service. Good flavors, chicken cuts are diced as their potatoes in some entrees less desirable but tasty nevertheless. If you love spices ask for their hot sauce on the side for an extra kick ..they should bottle this stuff.
Shmuel Rouache
This is by far the best tikka masala I have every had. Their Na’an is out of this world as well. Never been disappointed in any dish I have ever ordered here but the Lamb Tikka is my go to. Literally have had dreams about this food. A must try! The staff and owner are always amazing and friendly as well.
Raju Karki
Got myself some lamb tikka masala very hot and it was amazing. Naan was warm and soft and the tikka masala was just on point. Always a good time here
Amina Ali
Amazing food, amazing workers and owner!!!!! I would definitely recommend this place
Karl Bunday
We went to the restaurant on an evening date after shopping in south Minneapolis. The service was friendly. We did not know this cuisine at all. Hat tip to an earlier reviewer who mentioned the chicken saag, an Indian dish that is very tasty, served with basmati rice. The Nepali dish aloo tama was spicy for me ordered at medium spice level (as we ordered everything we had that evening). The Tibetan noodle dish thukpa gets much of its flavor from the meat that comes with it, but we ordered the thukpa with tofu so it was bland and again more spicy than I am used to. So in the future I would order the Nepali or Tibetan dishes as mild (the Indian dishes as medium should be wonderful to my taste) and order meat as the protein with the Tibetan dishes.
Diksha Desai
Best momos place in town. The jhol momos and chillis momos were so good
ayushma sharma
Best newari food in Minnesota! We visit here every time we are in town. Wo/ lentil pancake is one of my favorites!
Gemma Gutierrez Becerra
We ordered two Chicken Tikka Masalas and two Garlic Naans. Food was delicious. This is my fifth time here. The food never disappoints!
Nilesh Jambhekar
Delicious and authentic food. Unlike every other restaurant they actually make their food spicy on request. Owner is a genuine sweet heart.

Home away from home . The taste, the hospitality, even the owner was so nice . Definitely check them out
Sourav Dey
Amazing Food. Every item is good. Must try the soups, Kathmandu Curry, goat curry. Owner is very cordial.
Must visit if looking for authentic himalayan test.
Jeni Bozic
Discovered this place years ago through Nepali friends and it has become one of my favorites. Great buffet, wonderful staff and a charming, welcoming owner. I live out of town now and I visit here every time I'm home.
If it isn't buffet hours, try the momos for sure
Hadi
Get their momo, it is great! Stay away from they biryani...
Helen Radovic
Super good!! I got the okra potato dish and mango Lassi both of which were phenomenal. Highly reccomend, especially if you're vegetarian as they have lots of veggie dishes.
Vinicius Taguchi
Excellent experience and wonderful food! Our friends brought us here, since it's one of their favorite restaurants. We were a little overwhelmed by the sheer number of delicious-sounding options, but the server was very patient and friendly, and even helped pick out recommendations for us based on our personal tastes. The owner was also very welcoming and made us feel as though we were guests over for dinner in his own house. This is some of the best food we've had in the cities and we can't wait to go back again.
Nicholas Willette
I love Tikka masala too much.
I don't have too much to say as I get the same thing every single time. But the:
- chicken Tikka masala
- garlic naan
- vegetable Tikka masala
Are very good, would recommend
Sabera Kapasi
Hands down, the best Nepali / North Indian restaurant in town! I day dream about the momos. Not kidding. Absolutely delicious. And all the Nepali food is very tasty. The best part is, you can taste the freshness, as there is no stale smell of old reused oil. The food also in general is low on oil. The place I go to when I miss home - the manager always takes such good care of all the customers. Lovely place and a must for a good meal. They are also very good with large groups - no compromise in service or warmth of people.
Jash Jain
The place is well maintained and excellent staff and service, but the food is not just upto the mark. Have been brought up in the foothills of Himalayas, one thing I can say with surety is that the food did not do justice to either Nepali or Indian cuisine. The momos were bland, puris thick and soaking in oil. The only thing that I loved was the Aloo Aachar. Disappointed!
Pete Spengler
Wonderful outdoor seating with equally wonderful tasting Himalayan cuisine!
Barry Groover
I ordered the appetizer pakoras and the chyau aaloo. It took a minute to prepare, which was good, it was all hot and fresh. Huge serving of 7 or 8 large pakoras were delicious, with two tasty chutneys for dipping. The Himalayan spices were out of this world. I got the heat 2 out of 7 and it was perfect. The rice was fragrant and properly cooked, neither hard or underdone nor mushy. I will be back.
Girish Uprety
One of the best Nepalese food in the Twin Cities.
Jacque G
Extremely good, top class Nepalese food in an inviting atmosphere, but the server didn't bring our appetizer and it had to be reordered. It arrived after the main dish. We split the check with friends and they charged us for their appetizer and didn't charge them. Basically the order got hosed. But the food was excellent.
Amanti Melkamu
Amazing Biryani Rice with beef! They were about to close and let’s us eat our take out on there patio while the sunset, it was a vibe
Omar Mohamud
Been coming here for awhile 10/10 food great customer service:)
Jenna Carpenter
Adorable little restaurant with great food! Their Himalayan Platter appetizer had a good sample of staple flavors to the region and we all enjoyed it. Service was friendly and welcoming and they have free parking available on site- highly recommended.
Amy Workman
Order to share is the way to go. Our go-to's for years are the palak paneer, lamb biryani (great spicy), Himalayan app platter or just the pyaazi if two of us, vegetable saag (also great spicy), any curry, garlic naan, and always a mango lassi. Wonderful place. Great for take out because nothing really gets soggy and they're fantastic at packaging.
Krupa Patel
An amazing restaurant with the best owner. They have the best momos!
Aimee Brask
I love this place. Everything is so good and fresh. Lots of vegan options.
Nischal Thapa
Great food and awesome hospitality. If you want authentic Nepalese food, try places that serve a mix of Nepali and Tibetan food. This place serves great Nepali and Tibetan food. We lived it.
Mary “Etta” Wint
Delicious food, easy parking, decent prices for the quality of the food.
Alok Shr
Authentic Nepali food, worth visiting. It has a nice ambience and friendly staff. My favorite is the morning buffet, eat as much and try everything on offer, always plenty to choose from ☺️ problem is eating too much. Not available currently in the COVID times. Other favorites are momo- or dumplings, noodles and Nepali thali. Definitely will return back for more. Worth trying!!
Joseph Schurhammer
Went there with my wife and two daughters as we struggle to find good Indian food in our hometown. We had been here previously for the lunch buffet but I was unimpressed by it. It was okay but nothing special.
Today we ordered several dishes for the table, including the lamb saag, chicken tikka masala, and palak paneer. This meal was considerably better and the staff was attentive and helpful. We were all very satisfied with the meal and consider it one of the best Indian meals we’ve had in Minnesota.
Hassan Osman
Great Restaurant with delicious food.
Nicole Johnson
I love the food and service at this restaurant. The dishes were so good and flavorful my husband and I ate there two days in a row while on vacation. Special thank you to Ava for recommending the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Garlic Naan Bread. Everything was delicious!
Piyush Hota
Within the first few hours of stepping into the state of Minnesota, discovered this heaven! Till date the BEST food I have ever had in the United States. Must try the momos, choyala. I think everything you eat here is just amazing. Very courteous service. In one word, this restaurant is just "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious"!!
Alissa Haws
If I could give this place 6 stars I would. Friendly staff and PHENOMENAL food. Going to be
We got the platter of apps and a combo meal with chicken coconut curry, it was enough food for 4 people but my husband and I are almost all of it on our own it was THAT good.
If you like spicy, order the extra hot instead of hot.
Disclaimer - I don't eat Nepalese food often, so if you do often this review might not be for you.
Akhil Kshirsagar
Fantastic hospitality and delicious momos! Surprised my wife here during a recent trip as she loves momos, and she swore by their 'jhol momos' ! Even for a non-momo person, I really enjoyed their taste and flavour. The server and owner were really friendly and warm, and always ready to look after us..the owner was also very nice as he recommended certain dishes based on our tastes..it was a very enjoyable meal, with nice music in the background and a comfortable setting..I would highly recommend this place, especially for their momos! We hope to return soon.
Kolten Pingeon
I haven’t been to the actual restaurant, but I’ve gotten takeout twice. Both times I got the chicken curry and garlic naan and both were incredible. Highly recommend!
Nick Entinger
Their food is just as good as ever takeout style. Their lamb choyola is like nothing else in the world. Just go and order some takeout, you won't regret it. Side note they have probably the best vegetarian menu in the city.
Naomi Koski
I lived in Nepal for a while when I was younger and -save cooking it myself- I have never been able to find truly authentic Nepali food. This place hit the nail on the head ! The food, the music, the smells, the energy- AMAZING !!! 11/10 would recommend this place to anyone and everyone who enjoys (or wants to try) south asian cuisine !
Elizabeth Wald
Himalayan is always a great place to go. We've been going there for years. The owner is very passionate about making good food and helping others. The food is not only delicious, but the restaurant is very family friendly. My kids absolutely love going here. The daal is excellent. The chai is a must have. The buffet has amazing vegetarian side dishes. My only complaint is that my favorite vegetarian dishes are never on the weekend buffets. My husband and I do occasionally go here for dinner on a date night and enjoy the food immensely.
Shanti Gurung
I moved from Los Angeles in Jan 2020 and was looking for a Himalayan/tibetan restaurants because I just love mo:mos, biryanis and chicken curries. I was introduced by my friends to Himalayan Restaurant. The food is phenomenal, I really really love their Jhol momo. The ambience is very soothing and welcoming with traditional music. I am always enjoying my dinner and lunch here. In summer they have their patio open and it just looks so fresh cause of the natural flowers and beautiful lights. Lastly, the manager and employees are always so friendly and sweet. I once ordered food around the closing time and they waited for me past the closing time so I could pick up my food. I just love Himalayan restaurant in overall.
Michael Mosley
This place looked interesting and looking at the menu online ahead of time I was planning to get a sampler of appetizers. However when I went in they had an inexpensive buffet which I chose instead. It included meat and vegetarian options, rice and bread as well as desserts. It was delicious and very reasonably priced. Flavorful but not too spicy. On the way out the owner told me they have the buffet daily but rotate dishes for each day. I would go back again.
Brian Rochel
Outstanding restaurant serving the best North Indian/Himalayan food in the area! The quality of the food is amazing, great flavors using high quality ingredients. And the service is great as well, with the very friendly owner always there to greet guests. If you haven't tried it, you must; if you have, you know what I'm talking about. The lunch buffet is also one of the best values in town.
Castaway Family email
Always hear its good food from doordash customers. Lots of orders they are fast and correct
Jeff Heskin
My wife and I ate here in 2016 and it was great! We had the buffet so we could try as many different foods as possible and every single thing was tasty and unique. The prices are very reasonable, ~$12.00 for the buffet. Employees were friendly and helpful. The ambiance was beautiful and peaceful. Even the restrooms were nice.
Neeta P. Regmi
Awesome Nepali cuisine !!
You will love there !
Have to be there to believe it !
Mick McConnell
Everything was delicious and our server was great!
Sonja Kosler
Met up with family here. Now a new addition to my foodie list. Jeera aloo - wow. Atmosphere bright and unpretentious. Friendly service. Meal arrival a bit slow yet worth the wait.
Rajat Bhatnagar
Vegetarian Dumpling s were terrific . Superb ambience . A must go place.
Fuad Abdi
This restaurant is very nice and they have good foods
Michael Davis
Our server was amazing. Food was amazing. Started off a little slow with people sitting around and not helping sit people down. Didn't ask for Vax card.
Aakash Joshi
This is the go to place if you want traditional home made food from Nepal. I have been going here since 2009 and the place never fails to disappoint. The la carta prices are very reasonable and the lunch buffet deals are the best. The spice level is adjusted to taste and the owner understands the demand from customers with different background. Best Nepali restaurant in Minnesota hands down. Nice and homely ambiance.
Nimer AL-Shadfan
Excellent authentic Asian food. The dumplings are extremely tasty. I also had the chicken Tikka masala at 4 spicy level with garlic Naan - very very delicious. Daal soup is really good.
Samira Moalim
Amazing customer service! great food. 10/10. 🫶🏾 …
Kate Heitzman
Don't let the look of the outside, or the inside decor, deter you from trying this place. The food was excellent. We had the shrimp curry and the salmon curry. I got a spice level of 3 and it was perfect. The service was just right. Not annoying, but attentive as need. I also like the fact that they leave a small pitcher of water on the table so you can help yourself as needed.
Anjani Singh
Food was good, biryani could have been better.
Jerome Liggett
Called ahead for party of 7. No issue there and we were seated as soon as we arrived. Wait staff was friendly and ready for questions. Meals were excellent both for our vegetarians and meat eaters. Fun atmosphere and it was packed by 8pm. There was a fair number waiting but I would say it was worth the wait. Best experience in a while for me. Will definitely be returning and would highly recommend.
Benjamin Miller
Started taking out from here more. Good food in nice sized portions. Mango lassi is a treat for the ride home for sure. If you want one for home order two. Medium is pretty spicy for my midwest tongue. I would probably explode it I ever got the really spicy there....
gabrielle halseth
The cuisine was fabulous!!! Have tried many Indian restaurants with my Indian boyfriend and this is by far the best yet!!! Very authentic. Family owned and the owner was so nice. Absolutely loved this experience besides eating so much that it hurts 😭 The pricing was reasonable and went well with the portions of the food. 5/5 I found my new favorite place for indian/ Himalayan food at last!!!
Tejas chothani
This is probably the best place in the twin cities if you are craving for Nepali cuisine or food which is similar to the Indian cuisine. The service is also really good. The owner literally treats you as if you’ve visited his home. Highly recommended.
Prajwal Dhungana
Great place and amazing food . Loved it
Sunisha Gurung
The food really reminds you of Nepal. If you been here, you can really recognize the flavor/taste. 😁 …
Susan Armstrong
We went on a Sunday and enjoyed the buffet, a chance to try a number of different dishes. I got full before I was able to try as much as I would have liked, so we must go back! All four of us declared the food to be some of the best we've ever had, and my mom's eaten in Nepal. The service is friendly, there's easy parking, plus lovely art on the walls. This place is a winner.
Sushmita Shrestha
I have lived in the States for a while now and have eaten at so many Nepali restaurants but never came across to a restaurant that had an authentic taste of Nepali, Newari food. Unexpectedly, I found that taste that reminds me of Nepal and homemade food here at Himalayan restaurant. I genuinely loved the food, the people, the vibe of the place. The owner dai was so kind and friendly, got a good service and the variety of food were not too oily or creamy or tasteless. I could tell that the food was fresh and spices were mixed well.
I would 100% recommend this place. At least, try it once if you want to get a sense of what authentic Nepali food taste like. Hands down, the best Nepali food in the States. 👏🏼
Zok Wobblefotz
Momos: Amazing. Tika Masala: Spectacular. Lamb Curry: Terrific. Pyazzi: Fantastic. Service: Great. So dang good!
Jenna Sandoe
Hands down FAVORITE place to eat curry in the whole city!!! The creamy Kathmandu Curry is my FAV but any of the tikka masalas are phenomenal!!! The garlic naan and momos are also amazing!! Love everything about this restaurant! 💜 …
Rich Harrington
Great food from a locally owned restaurant. Service was prompt and friendly, and the dining room was comfortable, though it can get loud if other tables are talking a lot.
abdifatah yusuf
Fresh, Healthy & Made from scratch (Home Cooked Style). I am a loyal customer for over 5 years. Buffet has lots of varieties and fresh. Thursdays buffet Menu is my favorite Goat curry yum! Staff are amazing and welcoming. This is Homes... One Love!
Sriranjitha Raghuraman
I think all restaurants should take a page from their book - serve just a few authentic and tasteful dishes rather than a huge spread that is half-made. We went in for a lunch buffet and I was initially disappointed because it had just 2 vegetarian and 2 chicken dishes. But I soon ate my words along with the delicious food and bottomless chai tea. Kudos!
jl hatlen linnell
The food is gorgeous, and the staff are wonderful. They genuinely work as a team, baxking each other up so nobody is missed. Manager swung by our table with three fidget spinners for our autistic daughter, and I always felt like staff found a great balance between giving a family space to enjoy a night out while being quickly available when we needed their attention.
The food is gorgeous. Quality central Asian food as mild or spicy as you want it, with a delightful balance of seasonings so it's tasty ans robust with or without adventures in capsaicin.
Cesar Roman
Really nice place, food was delicious and service was exceptional, really nice staff. I'm for sure coming back and letting my friends know about Himalayan Restaurant.
Katherine McDowell
The Himalayan Restaurant is one of our favorites in the Twin Cities! The staff is incredibly friendly, and we have always had impeccable service. The menu has a great variety of dishes-our favorites being the biryani and the mixed curry. We love coming here, and will continue to do so well into the future!
Robert Vincoli
This is our absolute favorite restaurant in the entire state! Their buffet is spectacular and their staff is always friendly! We were so happy when they moved into a bigger location and they always seem busy. Word of the wise.. the Friday buffet is the BEST! Fried tilapia nuggets with chicken coconut curry.. YUM!
THANKS HIMALAYAN!!!
=)
Sajan Khadka
Really awesome food. If I miss home I come here to eat. Donee forget to try c-momo
Iman Dirie
One of the best restaurants in town. Phenomenal food
Wenn Townsend
My favorite place for lamb momos! Excellent naan as well as a killer lunch buffet!
Roe
Ordered food at 6:38 , told it would be ready at 7:45, and didn't get it until 8:32. Second Time it's taken extremely long. If you're in a hurry to get your food I'd order elsewhere. That's what I'm gonna do atleast, Food is really good though so I will most likely come back //// update - ordered many times from this place I love their palak paneer , it may take 40 min to an hour to be ready but it's very good
Matthew H.
I have been here a couple of times and the food really is amazing. If you like some heat in your food, too, they can really do it up. My server both times was inattentive but that's the only thing keeping it from a 5-star rating for me. Easy parking, clean place, terrific food.
Jon Peterson
I have been going here since the old location opened. So that’s like around 13 years or so. I go often, it’s my favorite restaurant in the state (probably the country).

Their food is very delicious. Their lunch buffet contains a good variety of vegetarian dishes, which are less oily and spicy and thus healthy. The service was excellent too. The waiters were very friendly and waiting time was also less.
Nicole Williams
This is the best place I have tried in the cities. Everything is so delicious, fresh, warm and comforting. It’s consistent in quality and flavor, which is hard to find. I have not had the pleasure of dining in but take away is awesome!
adam eggert
Great food! VERY friendly staff. The owner always brings my 2 year old son a few toys to play with while we eat. My son Loves it! Great lunch buffet! One of our neighborhood staples.
josh king
Excellent food. Excellent hospitality. Highly recommend. Owner, or possibly just the host went out of their way to make sure we had a good experience, and it was unprompted. Go here for legit dumplings. Extra hot is not crazy hot, so go full on if you like a little spice
Vang Xiong
We have been coming to this restaurant for the past 10 years. Always great service, excellent food, and a great family-friendly atmosphere. We started bringing our kids here when they were toddlers and now they are teenagers and still have their favorites from the menu. The owner is warm and friendly and is always happy to have us.
Fern Weiss
I love this place. The food is always excellent, service as well. The ambience is mellow, the background music(traditional) is exquisite-for those to whom it might be important. My only problem-I can't seem to move away from the Lamb Saag when I am there for dinner. The lunch buffet is always fresh. They really keep on top of it. Just a sweet place.
Jamin Acaso
Food is super tasty, very friendly staff. Lunch buffet is great. Things are clearly labled what is vegan. The lunch buffet varies by day off the week, some days are better than others for vegan options. Tuesdays and Sundays are best!
Gina m
Amazing place to eat I highly recommend it! We drive 1hour and a half to come here it's completely worth it. If your considering it go and try it! It has amazing customer service and you can tell the owner loves his place and the food it is all filled with so much love. He makes you feel welcome and very happy he is a kind smiling man! Thank you for this second visit!
Pema Choden
Excellent food, great atmosphere, very friendly staff and owner. We will definitely be back.
Girish Pandey
Authentic Nepali food with friendly owner. The foot was perfect and the spice level was maintained. This is my go to place for Nepali food.
The owner is so friendly that he even served us extra desserts (pan and masala and achar) after we were done with our orders. Put this in your list if you're around Minneapolis and want to try authentic South Asian Nepali food.
Aras
This is my favorite Indian/Nepali restaurant in the Twin Cities! The food tastes so fresh and clean. Love the atmosphere and service is amazing. The owner is so personable and always makes you feel welcome. You won’t regret eating here:)
Freddy Manderfeld
Food here was fantastic! The manager was super nice, saw him being really attentive to all patrons and was kind to a group of children at the register. Our server was a bit subpar and we ended up having other servers and the manager help us. Definitely worth the visit for the food.
Derek Esh
This place is unreal good. Try there curries and you won’t be disappointed. A once a week stop for me😃😃👍👍 …
MaBo
Favorite restaurant in the city! We have been eating here weekly (sometimes several times a week) for the past 6 years. Some reviews comment that service is slow, but that isn't my experience. I know the food is cooked from scratch and for me it's well worth the wait! The food is also consistent every time, always fresh and cooked to perfection. We order something different every time and it's always good. I literally could eat here everyday and never get bored of the food.
Ayush Thakuri
Delicious food. Goat curry and biryanis were tasty as always. Mango lassi and the Taj beer can never go wrong here! The Outdoor patio is designed beautifully.
Kash Siddiqui
Never in 37 years of my life i have seen a restaurants where kids were given tons of toys to play with and were offered free fruit. You guys are amazing! Food was pretty good too. Will definitely come back!

I always miss momo from Nepal. Himalayan is my best momo place. Thank you prabin dai and nabin dai for tasty momo.
Icxiuh Martinez
The food here is incredibly delicious! So scrumptious, you can tell the ingredients are fresh and made from the best spicies, my senses are invigorated and fully satisfied
We love it here, the service matches the food excellent and always so warm and welcoming with a very peaceful atmosphere. Everything you look for in a restaurant!
Douglas Erickson
Excellent, on time take out. Currently limited indoor seating due to covid. Biryani always excellent. Tried Thukpa with chicken, (Tibetan-style rice noodles mixed with fresh garden vegetables in a savory broth). Excellent chicken noodle soup for the soul on a fall day! Timely, yummy, not cheap yet a great value.
Yibeltal Watttero
Amazing owner and great service. Highly recommend checking this place out.
asva keynan
Amazing food and wonderful customer service!
Kassa Hana
amazing food and the service is great ! the best indian food in minnesota
Brian Aust
The green curry is sublime. I have now had it twice in 3 weeks. I thought it was good the first time I had it. Tonight, I could not get enough. Excellent food served quickly and good service. It only helps all the more that we live close enough to walk here. A very worthwhile place to eat for locals and out of town folks.
Jerzy Guzior
This restaurant has some of the most exquisite food I've ever eaten, which is why I return regularly every week. The atmosphere is light and relaxing, and the customer service is very friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking new food. Good job guys.
Ron Deen
I have eaten here many times and I still love the food! Probably the best Indian/Nepalese cuisine in the Twin Cities! Excellent vegetarian choices, nice setting, very attentive staff and the food is always fresh. Never a long wait. My favorite dish is Aaloo Cauli, I have tried other vegetarian curries and think they are all great too. If you like this cuisine, this is the place to go. Definitely try it!
Bikal Nepal
Very friendly owner, delicious food, beautiful ambiance with hanging flowers and light music, good serving portions.
Rohan Shah
Simple food but as a "Desi" I was surprised by how different the buffet options were. The food was also quite fresh. Highly recommended. Service may be a bit slow but it is more than compensated for by the geniality of the employees. Bonus - the owner offered me pan and other delicacies at the end of my meal.
Pragalv Karki
Good food and service. Outside seating is phenomenal with ambient lighting and great vibes.
walter
Food in our take out order was excellent. Pick up was a bit uncomfortable with 4 different delivery drives waiting in small vestibule. I wont do a 6:45 pickup on Friday again, but I will be back.
Alynna
Amazing restaurant and food, treats us like family!!
Coltan Adkins
I brought a couple co-workers out for some food, and found ourselves at this wonderful establishment. Only complaints I have are for those who want to sit down an order food. We asked for menus, and after a few minutes of waiting we had to ask another waiter to grab some. Then it took a while for them to come back to get our order as well. We were only given four sets of silverware out a group of five. After our delicious food had arrived, and promptly devoured we waited for what seems like a fortnight for someone to come back. A couple of us wanted boxes but were never offered, and never saw the server again. We left without our food, but other than those negative things it was a good experience. I think we will just come back for the buffet next time.
Natalie Losik
This place would be a slam-dunk 5 stars if the service were faster. I've been coming here since they were at their old location, and there was never this problem back then. Since they moved to the new location, the service time had become unbelievably slow. It took them almost AN HOUR to take our drink order (and he took the entire order all at once because we'd been waiting so long). The place was practically empty when we got there (a little after 4 pm), there is no excuse for that. The only reason we keep coming here is the food is really, really good (cannot stress that enough), but definitely don't come here if you are in a hurry.
Brock R
Great food! The Masu-Daal-Bhat combo is really well priced and good for two people. The curry spice isn’t as hot as I’d like but the soup, Aloo-Tama, spits hot fire.
Rhonda Schubert
Excellent meal at Himalayan Restaurant today.
The flavors were delightful. Definitely going back soon.
Nicholas McMonigle
The food was great and very reasonably priced. The service was perfect, and the food was brought out quickly. I recommend this for dates, small and large groups, and even to go orders. The mango and rice puddings were amazing, too! Definitely going back
Brian Kroeger
The food is the best we've found in the twin cities area! Order everything, it's all delicious.
Kendra Roedl
Favorite spot for this type of cuisine. Sooo good for dine in or takeout. Can’t go wrong with most of the dishes. Be sure to also get some garlic naan and a mango lassi.
Patel Vipul
Really Nice Restaurant, food is really good. Owner and staffs are really professional and friendly. I will definitely recommend this restaurant.
Caitlin Percy
LOVE this place. The owner is a hardworking local that meets you at the door every time with a friendly smile. The food is phenomenal- I've been to over 12 Indian/Nepalese/Tibetan restaurants just in the twin cities area and this place is by far the best of them all. Have been coming here for years and can't imagine what I'd do for Indian otherwise. Service is always great.
Portia Nolan
I have been here many times and the food is always good. I introduced my family they all love it my favorites are the chicken curry lamb curry and garlic naan. You can get food very mild or very hot depending on what you want i like to switch it up on different visits and if you like really hot they difinatley bring the heat. Delicious!
Patrick paur
Love the food here! My go to place after work.
Andrew Dyer
I ate a very nice meal there last night. The food was quick, the service was very attentive and the price was pretty good considering I had an appetizer, main course and dessert. Yes I was quite full when I left but not stuffed. The portion sizes were very good not too big or too small.
Try the lamb (any one) mine was tasty!
Chhabindra Nepal
Awesome food. Very welcoming owner
Hannah Davison
I really enjoyed the quality of food and service here. It was my first time trying this restaurant. I highly recommend. The buffalo dumpling were delicious! I will be back 😊 …
Kathleen Staley
The food is amazing! They also offer a buffet every day which has a different menu daily. Everything I have tried is absolutely delicious. The restaurant is very clean, and the staff is very friendly and attentive.
Negma Farah
A thorough mix of southern Asian cuisines, the cooks at Himalayan really know what they are doing. My favorite dish is the chicken choyola (I don’t think I spelled that right lol) it is so amazing and so full of flavor! A couple of naans with that dish and your taste buds will be sent to heaven! Other fav dishes are the lamb biryani and goat curry!
Priyanka Joshi
This place has a really nice environment and gives a cultural feeling with the decors and music. The food here is alot better than other place. They have lesser selection in buffet but it is very healthy as they use less oil and the taste is alot better. I usually go there twice a month and everytime I go, the owner always gives us a warm welcome and nice customer service.
If you want to eat any indian or Nepalese food, I really do recommend to come here and try their food.
