Neat experience! Awesome food. Love the hibachi style grill. Cost for us was about $40 a person. Seating is limited. Reservations are best. Will definitely go back to this restaurant again.

We got the meat lover for 2 with extra apps on the side. It was busy so we waited 30 minutes to order our food despite being seated right away. Personally enjoyed the experience but it's super crowded and was roughly $140+ for decent size meat with very little flavor.

Great first experience. You can buy the food for 2 or big groups which allows you to experience the different meats or veggies. You grill your own meat and vegetables on the grill built into the table. Our waiter explained everything well as we had never experienced this. The drinks were good also. My husband got the house saki and I got the mango punch. It gets loud so just fyi but the atmosphere is a comfortable one. The tables were clean, id just recommend cleaning the sitting chairs and booths also. We were definitely full when we left and will be back

Servers were quick and helpful for my first time there! Also recommended some tasty drinks! Had the dinner special for 2, and it was quite a lot of food for only 2 people but I’m satisfied. Meat was fresh and I enjoyed the garlic sauce that came with.

We had a very fun time here! It was a great communal experience to cook food together with your friends, try new things, and just spend time with each other. I celebrated my birthday here and would do it again in a heartbeat. We ordered the meat variety course and definitely felt we got our money's worth. The s'mores at the end were a nice touch too!

Great place to eat and food was great. Did the BBQ and love how they make sure you know how to properly grill each item. Can get a little pricey on some items, but recommend people to try it out. Definitely want to come back and try their ramens and sushis next time.

Took my boyfriend here for his birthday. We had the meatlovers and small saki came out to 112, not bad at all plus free smores after was awesome. I was nervous on how it works but Madison was BEYOND helpful and explained. I only wanna come when she's here. But the atmosphere was great. No reservations and it was no waiting. We didn't sit outside but they have a nice outdoor seating setup as well. And the free birthday shot is very rare so we were really greatful. 2 for 112 you get more than enough this place is great I'll come back just for drinks. I came here last Saturday night at 5:30 PM with my husband and teenage son. I was relieved to find the restaurant had free on-site parking. Parking was limited, but seemed to have the perfect quantity of parking spots for its visitors-not too many and not too little. We made reservations online two weeks prior using opentable.com and were promptly seated after showing them our vaccination records. We ordered spicy cucumber salad, shrimp ceviche, pork tonkatsu ramen, the two-person meat lovers combo, a side of the $60 A5 wagyu, a slice of matcha tiramisu, and virgin drinks. Our total came to $200 and something cents. We tipped our waiter $50 because he was very attentive, polite, and helpful. I’ll discuss the details of our meat lovers combo first. The miso soups came first and we drank those up. They were yummy as miso soup should be and contained small bits of square tofu pieces. The half salads that came with our combo were amazing. I think they were called the Gyu-Kaku salads. They were so fresh, light, and delicious. Our plates were clean. Then we also enjoyed the fried chicken with spicy mayo. It was flavorful and tender. Our dish also came with edamame and a few types of meats. I don’t recall what those pieces were called, but they were well-flavored/seasoned and cooked quick. The A5 wagyu was not worth it. It was very small (about a fist size), took longer than all our dishes to come to our table, and came partially frozen. I just expected something perfect for something of that label and price. It should’ve came out fresh or at least thoroughly defrosted. The meat was cut into thicker cubes. It was good, but not amazing and didn’t differ much in taste from the meats that came with the combo. The spicy cucumber salad was amazing. Crunchy, refreshing, juicy, and not spicy at all. I’m going to have to order this from now on every time I go. The shrimp ceviche was very basic. Nothing exciting or amazing about it. It was missing something and needed that extra pizzaz- maybe lime or mango. The pita chips were delicious, though. The ramen was flavorful and my son ate it all up. The matcha tiramisu tasted a bit too much like medicine. I think I’ll stick to the s’mores next time. Overall, I’d definitely go again, but will only order regular meats and not the expensive meats. Their price just wasn’t worth it. I can’t wait to try the other combos and see how their other cuts, salads, and dishes taste.

The waiter was super nice and the appetizers were really delicious. Slightly expensive for four shrimps to be ten bucks, but no complaints about the rest.

Absolutely delicious. Gotta try the wagyu when they have it available. This place is horrible if you don’t have a reservation. So make sure you make one before attempting to go. I’ve been here a few times and I’m not sure if there’s anything on the menu that isn’t delicious. Staff are friendly. You know the place is good when there’s always a line out the door.

This place is super duper good if you’re in for Japanese BBQ. The prices are reasonable. Each meats are well seasoned. They do each taste similar to each other though. To love to have veggies on the side when eating and this place gives you lots of veggies. It helps not to get sick of eating the meats. Everything was fresh! At the end, they give you marshmallows, Hershey’s, and crackers to make s’mores at the spot! If I were compared this to other BBQ places, this place would be the top of my list.

I always enjoy my time at Gyu-Kaku! I had lunch with my nephew there and it was his first time, so he was unsure what to expect. But after having a lychee fruit mojito, I think I helped alleviate some fears about what he should be expecting. We checked out the menu and immediately we saw this "meat mountain" and immediately knew that that's what we were going to have we didn't even have to check out any other portion of the menu. Along with having an opportunity to use some rewards points we also ordered some Toro beef which was awesome for him to taste for the first time as well. I always love getting the garlic rice bowls and then just being able to add my meat or vegetables with the rice. Ooh, and that chimichurri sauce.. I'm in love Although I think this one time our server may not have been aware that we were assigned at one of his tables and we were waiting for him to come and take our order, I hope you guys continue to be a great place to come and enjoy.

This Resteraunt is great for gluten free! The sweet soy, spicy, and ponzu sauces at the table are all gluten free, and so are most all of the marinades on the meat! Lunch specials and happy hour make this affordable and delicious! Also great for special occasions as the tables are large. No mask required. HIGHLY recommend!! (P.S.: Try the toro and yaki-shabu Beefs especially! Delicious and cheap!)

What a beautiful, intimate, and unforgettable dinner. A full sensory experience. We ordered the BBQ for two; came with a variety of exquisite meats that we were able to grill at our own table, at our own pace. Came with soup, salad, and dessert course at correct intervals. This is an ideal place for a date night or relaxing dinner with friends. You get to take it slow and have a wonderful dinner filled with great conversation.

We were readily accommodated at 12 noon. We have a reservation. Service is prompt. Our waiter is so nice. We got the meat lovers package and ramen. The quality of food especially the meat is top-notch. The Gyu-Kaku salad is delicious. This is a fun place. We will definitely go back again.

The experience was amazing. Our server was knowledgeable and helped our group of 5 order. We ended up with the meal for 4, but it was plenty for all of us. They brought us an extra miso soup and smore at the end. Easy to learn, just need to make sure you time the food items that need longer on the grill so you cook them long enough (chicken, shrimp).

Atmosphere is a 10, parking is about a 3.5, but you can't have everything. The food is really what you make it. I found all of the cuts of meat to be of superb quality. The sushi that we tried was fresh and tasted fantastic. Had a cocktail Fuji Tower i think? It was a bit pricey for what it was but everything seems to be that way nowadays. Overall great experience and will definitely go back.

The ahi tuna poke nachos are my favorite. We shared the meat lovers dinner for 2 and let me be clear, that's enough food for 3 or 4ppl if you share add couple apps. The bimibap sukiyaki rice is really good, but that stone bowl stayed hot for a while and eventually my rice got crunchy. The white peach Cosmopolitan was just enough sweetness without overpowering the meal. I don't typically like restaurants water, but I'll power through it when I drink 21+ bev. the water at Gyu was good.

Fun meal. Good food; I was surprised as to how much flavor they were able to get into very thin pieces of meat. We got combo B and it was nice to be able to try many different things. Just know, don't bother if your whole reason is because of the smores; those are a bit of throw away that you can easily do without them. But, of you want those meats, by all means get the combo. I'll likely go back some time.

I’ve been to several locations of Gyu Kaku over a number of states and have not had a single problem. Except a grand opening of one in Chicago when there was a snafu which they rectified with a pitcher of free beer. I love Gyu Kaku because of their consistency. Consistently DELICIOUS. This location is no different. We had lunch here and took advantage of their happy hour pricing. It does get pricey, so if you’re looking for a cheap dinner, I would think twice but it’s so so so good. And as a tip, I’d stay away from their cocktails. They are pricey and aren’t super good. They tend to be on the sweeter side and don’t have a lot of booze. Stick to their beer and sake.

This place will even persuade the most strictest people. When I was in high school, i went there every single weekend. The meat is extremely excellent, juicy and UNIQUE. They know how to turn normal boring things like broccoli into good food by introducing the cheese as a dipping sauce (trust me, i hate broccoli but i love this dish so so much). I have the Chef Special course for 2 people. Bibimbap is beyond expectations with the sauce. One little feedback Is that they should try to staff their restaurant more because their staff work really hard in the weekend, and the customer might have to wait for a while. I think this is absolutely fixable. For all the pros they offer, i will give this restaurant more than 10/10 if possible.

The food and service was good, but the service was slower than expected for how busy the restaurant was. The neat part is that you cook the meat yourself at the table. There was free parking and a kid's menu. We had a party of 10 for lunch and we were able to make a reservation. The lunch menu is significantly less expensive than the dinner menu.

Has greatly improved ever since my first experience. Quality has not dropped at all which I hope will never happen. Just wish cuts and portions were more consistent. Over the past 5 times Ive come back, there has not been a long wait for food at all comes out at a great pace. Theres a lot that could be improved on and I am very excited on the direction this restaurant is going. Hopefully one day you will bring back Horumon.

Gyu-Kaku is such a fun experience and great for a group outing with your friends. I easily made a reservation for 5 people over the phone. The staff were very friendly and understanding!! My group got the Yakiniku combination but because I’m allergic to shellfish we couldn’t have the shrimp but they allowed us to substitute the shrimp for something else! The appetizers, noodles, and main meat were awesome. It’s a lot of fun to grill the food right in front of you!! While it seems like there might not be enough food— don’t worry it’ll definitely fill you up!! I definitely recommend trying Gyu-Kaku in uptown Minneapolis!

Not bad but not worth the money . We went in a group of 5 . There’s an extra surcharge for 5 people or more , which is fine. Meat tasted old especially the fried chicken . It took so long to get anything we ordered even though there was only literally 3 other tables getting service so pretty empty. They also forgot a part of our meal and again waiting until almost the end of our meal to get us another drink we asked for 10 + mins ago .

Congrats on the location. The decor and set up is nice and gives a earthy feel, earth tone modern. Of course being new, we wanted to try many things. What stood out the most were the appetizers. They were very flavorful, especially the takoyaki and the stake sushi. The main bbq entree is average, the marinate flavor is ubiquitous. Don’t miss out on indulging in the apps, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Try it all. Would recommend.

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and we both love it so much. We both love the portion amount we both bought.We bought the meat lover for 2 people. It looks a little but TRUST ME it's enough for two people. Knowing my boyfriend who LOVES meat we both couldn't even finish it and had to pack it home. I love the seasoning of the meat. It was worth the money we spend on. May 2021 Picture was a recently in May of 2022 for my boyfriend birthday. We got the new meat on the menu Waygu!!!

Service was good, food was delicious, house sake was great. Definitely need to make a reservation ahead of time, it was full the entire time we were there (8pm-9pm on a Saturday) and it looks like it only seats about 50 guests at a time. Parking lot is pretty small too.

INCREDIBLE! Every single thing that touched our table was great. I haven’t had much experience cooking the meat, but our server was super helpful and even told us how long each meat should be cooked on each side so everything was perfectly cooked! TL;DR. Highly entertaining and engaging. Delicious meats and other dishes. Interesting drinks. Great service. Highly recommend. Gyu-Kaku is a fantastic restaurant for any occasion. The entertainment value comes from grilling your own food at your table. In each table is a small grill and you order beef, pork, fish, shellfish, or various vegetables which you then cook for yourself. The learning curve is small and it's quite quick because the foods are normally very thin. Regarding quality and options, I've now been twice in both a small and large group and have tried a ton of options a-la-carte and via their pre-defined package deals that they recommend for certain group sizes. Everything I have had has been good quality and tasted fantastic. There were definitely dishes that weren't to my taste, but other people always enjoyed them and ate them. Regarding drinks, they have a large selection of cocktails, sakes, wine, and beer, and everything has been great on that front as well. Finally, service is great. They're very friendly and provide great tips for food options and for how to cook. Go check it out!

We decided on a different culture of bbq this Memorial Day and boy this was a surprise! We didn't know we would be grilling. This was an absolutely awesome experience! The meat was seasoned well. The staff was friendly. The atmosphere was inviting. And the apps were yum yum! Just wish they had more restrooms & wish they had each grill item labeled when they brought it out... other than that, no complaints! In the words of Arnold schwarzenegger, 'Ill be back!' (we will)😋

The food is decent, you can’t mess up Japanese BBQ too much imo… the service was really slow during off peak lunch time and there weren’t many customers. Not sure if the server was also cutting meat and washing dishes? Got many things wrong and forgot a few. I don’t think he spoke good English either since he couldn’t understand what we wanted to order. He was nice and tried his best though. But please bring rice with meat so we can eat them together 😂 we didn’t order rice as a dessert.

I don't give 5 stars often, but this place deserves it. We came here for my birthday and had a reservation for 5pm. After a quick temperature check, we were seated immediately. The food was great. We got the 'Meat Lovers' combo which included several items and felt like a good value ($65) for two people. Our server Morgan was amazing and attentive. The other staff in the restaurant were great too. Overall great place with decent value. It's kind of like a Japanese version of Hoban (KBBQ a few blocks away). I'll be coming back.

The food was amazing! I would recommend selecting the bundle deal when sharing for a large group. We bought the “Yakiniku” which says feed 4 people but it really can feed way more people because the amount of food they bring out was a lot! The servers were very attentive and kind. Grilling was easy and they change the grill when the trays were getting dirty that way you can grill on a new tray. There’s limited parking at the location and street parking. Lastly, don’t leave without trying their sake bomb! If you come during their lunch special you get side of rice, salad, and miso soup.

I've ordered here through Doordash multiple times, everything is always fantastic! Perfectly cooked, perfectly packaged, high quality ingredients and a good amount of food. It has become my favorite place to order food from. From the website it looks like they have different menus for delivery and dine-in. Went for my mom's birthday. Spicy Tuna Volcano was to die for. I'm pretty bad at telling what makes meat good or bad, but the bbq items were pretty good. Didn't catch my servers name but he was very friendly and attentive. Overall 5/5, only thing I found a bit odd was the smell. When I first came in it smelled like ... sewage? But it went away pretty fast.

So this was my first time visiting this type of restaurant and it was so exciting! I want to highlight how clean our table was and the cool check-in process. They have this tablet that you stand in front of that takes your temperature. while they followed a lot of safety measures (wearing masks, gloves, the social distancing of tables) they messed up when they brought us the wrong dish, which we touched, and then they realized their mistake and gave it to the right table. I mentioned it to the waiter, he didn't really seem to care. That made me extremely nervous... They lost two stars for that. Hopefully, that doesn't happen on a regular basis... I don't see how that is safe or sanitary. We also were seated 18 minutes after our reservation time even after receiving a text that our table was ready. We ordered the Meat Lovers and it was jampacked with different kinds of meat. We also ordered the filet mignon just to have a bit more. The gyoza was delicious and so was the shrimp garlic noodles. I enjoyed the cocktails. One thing that was disappointing was being told after the glass had been empty for a while and asking for another drink, the waiter said "sorry, we're all out of that." Well, are there other options? It just didn't seem like he was very enthusiastic about being there. But overall, the food was great and I will definitely try it again.

10/10 would recommend! Definitely go for the lunch special. $18 for miso, salad, rice, and 3 meat options. The warm house sake is delicious. There are so many meat options, our favorites were hanger beef and beef tongue. The food came out quickly and 3 meat options were pretty filling. Friendly service!

Parking at this location can be tricky. This location is nothing closer to that excellent experience I had with Gyu Kaku in Toronto. Reservation was messed up. Staff wasn’t well-trained. Service was super slow. Needed to mention that the tongs for the grill was too hard. You needed to use your muscle to pick up the meat off the grill. When I asked, the server gave me a different one. They said that these are newer ones but more difficult to use, so they gave me the old one. I do understand some days are more rough than the others. But I think they need to improve their management skill at this location.

The food was fantastic! We order the chef's order (I think) and some apps, but it was more than enough food. We ended up taking the rest home. One thing I would of loved to have is the option to change out the soup. The order comes with Miso soup, its fish based broth, and I'm allergic to seafood. They are able to substitute the shrimp that's part of the dinner but not the soup. So I opt out on the soup, but its okay everything was delicious! *my date had my portion of the soup 😉*

This a smaller sized Japanese BBQ restaurant that I went to with a friend. I really appreciated the bundled bbq options that they had as an alternative to a la carte ordering. The bibimbap was the best thing I had, coupled with the grilled meat and kimchi it was worth every penny. I would say be prepared to spend around $50+ per person IF you are ordering alcoholic drinks as well. Awesome waitstaff and atmosphere.

Definitely a must try spot. Make sure to set up a appointment this place is popular. The food is cook yourself and has cooking instructions for your convenience. They have plenty of options meal deals and types of food to try and all in it was a great time the place is a bit on the expensive side but worth every penny.

Despite having a "limited" (it still has great variety) menu due to COVID, they still had almost all of my favorites, and some wonderful, brand new items to try. We love gyukaku in Chicago. I'm glad now we have one in Minneapolis 😊 We went again on my birthday and they give me a free desert! I still think they need to make sure to offer high-quality meat and cut into proper thickness to avoid grilling issues (too thin will get burn easily). I know that wasn't an issue when we eat at gyu Kaku Chicago. So maybe this is training issue since this location just opened a month ago.

Having lived in Japan, was super excited to see one of these pop up here in the Twin Cities. Overall, pretty good experience. I got the Yakiniku package, which I thought was a fair price but the serving sizes (said it feeds up to 4 people.. I question that) are a bit off. We aren't big guys, but had to order three side bowls of rice and two house sakes and additional round of the pork for the three of us, which came to around $220 and some change. The speciality drinks were only okay. Also, our reservation was at 530 but we didn't get seated until 6. Overall though, had a really good time. You are kind of paying for the experience (although, the food was good too. Highly recommend the pork and the filet mignon). If you haven't done it, definitely worth it at least once. Just know you might not get seated right at your time (there were like 3 reservations that were messed up when I was there), but the food is pretty good and the experience is fun.

Reservations are highly recommended. My husband and I went by because it was in a walkable distance to our new apartment. Everything was really delicious. Their menu is à la carte or they have good pre-selected menus where you can get a taste of a little of everything. It's small and intimate.

We arrived at 11:30AM and got seated after a short wait. The waiter was very helpful, friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, some of the meats where probably marinated a little too strongly though. I see why the wait times (to be seated or served) can sometimes be too long even with reservation: the customers are cooking their own food at the pace they prefer. We were 6 ppl, in a serious hurry (had to catch a flight) and were grilling stuff as fast as possible, but it still took us an hour and half to grill everything we ordered. Ppl can easily go over two hours which would initiate a chain of delays. So expect delays if you're going there in the evening, but it's worth the delay.

Friends and I went to dinner on a Saturday night. We had reservations and were approximately 15 minutes late since we were looking for a parking space. We were seated immediately. Our server was accurate and quick. The food is phenomenal. Our server was also very attentive and cleared our table of dishes that were empty - which is important when eating at these types of restaurants. We wanted wagyu but they ran out. The server told us that they get wagyu once a month due to supply chain issues. And people actually call to make sure the wagyu is available and if it is then they make reservations to dine and they run out pretty quick. For 3 people we spent about $120 overall; minus tip. Would definitely return again!

My husband and I made a reservation here for Saturday the 13th for our first wedding anniversary. When we told them our name they said we weren’t in the system. When my husband checked his email it said that it was made for Friday the 12th instead of the 13th and their system said that as well. Thankfully I am a paranoid person 😂 and always screenshot the confirmation screen after making a reservation online to prove that it was made for Saturday the 13th. The amazing owner came over and said that it sometimes happens to their system and moved a few things around for us and was able to squeeze us in if we could wait 20 more minutes. Me and my husband are not really “karen” when it comes to waiting a little bit longer and we are so glad we did! The food was amazing the staff was excellent, drinks were delicious! All in all we are 1000% going back!

The food was pretty good and I always enjoy these kinds of experiences. It would be nice if the chopped the meat a little smaller or separated the tendon. You don't get a knife, which is cool, but I'd like to have everything be more bite sized. The venue is pretty cool. They have a blender that's super loud, so that's kind of a bummer, but I bet the blended drinks are good, they were pretty popular. Over I had a good time and will likely be back

Wonderful experience. I will be going back as the food is amazing and of a great quality. You get a full grill in table and there are meals and plates you can order on the side if you want some authentic Japanese cuisine prepared for you. I had the Ramon was awesomely balanced with one of the most delicious broths I've ever had.. Believe me, every bite is worth it, seriously I had some steak, it practically melted as I ate it. It was amazing.

It is not great for people with soy allergies or vegetarians but is great for everyone else. My family particularly enjoyed the cooking the beef over the fire and picking it up like vultures. And the meat was fantastic even without a marinade on it.

First visit here was awesome, definitely a 5-star visit! Amazing food, delicious drinks, the server was hilarious and we had so much fun! Second visit was a 3-star visit. Waited for 40 minutes AFTER our reservation time while staff continuously told us it would only be another 5-10 minutes. We actually left and a staff member came out to get us because a table finally opened up. The food was great and drinks were good. The server barely spoke to us or visited our table. Definitely a very different experience the second time.

Food is great servers and staff are very friendly and quick. Food is a little pricey but it is worth it. The app gives you great deals and discounts when you save up points. Giving 3/5 because you now have to have your vaccine pass or a negative covid test within the past 3 days to dine in and it is not posted on the website. It is posted on the door. They will turn away reservations if one member of your party does not fit the bill.

Great experience here, perfect for a fun meal before hitting the other bars! The service was really great and the food/meat was seasoned well and really delicious. The food was the perfect amount, we left so full and I thought I needed more!! Thanks to our attentive server, she gave us tips and helped us cook the food. The grill grates were also changed periodically, and that was a really nice detail for me. I find the service at these kinds of places can make or break the experience, so I’m happy to say this the best in town of its kind ! We will be back

Great experience! The food was delicious and there was something for everyone in our party of 9 with kids and picky eaters. Jacob was a great waiter! The only downside is the reservations. They couldn't promise me the private table, then called 2 mins before my reservation to ask me if I was still coming. I felt rushed to get the private table that I was previously declined. Regardless, the food was great and the service was very quick, timely and responsive to our requests.

This might be controversial, but I feel like a $100+ dining experience should last more than 45 minutes especially since a place like this is about the experience. We were sat at a table hidden away in the back and while the staff were amazing and attentive, everything came out almost too fast? Like we ordered one of the 2 person combos with like 8 different meats and they all came out at once and we had so much on our table it would have felt odd to go slowly. Maybe we were just too hungry haha, but that was our fast food experience at Gyu-Kaku: overpriced and quick.

A pretty good rendition of Korean/Japanese BBQ. Swift and efficient service kept the food flowing and the tables turning in this busy place. We chose one of their set menus for 4 (for 3 people) and it was just the right amount. A nice selection of meats - mostly beef but a few prawn and other meats. Not the best I have had but good for Minnesota. Not inexpensive, but nothing is these days.

I had an amazing 4 course meal here that was amazing, but if I’m being honest I think the house salad was my favorite part, which is saying a lot because their bibimbap was also amazing! Their bartender Sophie was also very cool and down to earth!

The food here is fire! The meat is tender and almost melts in your mouth. Great salad and miso soup too. Our waiter Luis was awesome and very friendly. Over all a first great experience! Just make sure to make a reservation though because they do stay very busy especially on weekends. They also have a mobile app where you can make reservations and earn discounts. Just type in the name of the the restaurant and you'll find it.

The food is delicious and served promptly. I gave it 4 stars due to tables are not cleaned and they stated it was from lunch....its 430pm. I don't think there is an actual bartender because the person behind the counter was reading a chart and it took him 10 minutes to make a margarita. Overall the place is beautiful and the staff is very friendly I hope they iron out the creases. And I recommend and would come again.

Have visited other Gyu-Kaku locations and this one does not disappoint. Despite there being a full house and issue with getting tables inside, our experience outdoors was enjoyable due to Jakob and his dedication to customers. The meat we ordered was cooked to perfection despite us not having grills outside and we felt the pricing was justified. Parking can be a bit tough to find depending on the time of day, so plan to walk and cross a street or two just in case. Restaurant is fully accessible and they were happy to accommodate our party as needed.

Most of the appetizers were delicious! However, only a select few meat cuts were to my personal liking. The meat portions are only 3.5oz so if you have a big party, order a lot! The prices are pretty up there $$ for these small meat portions, but you can save money if you order from the preselected combo meals. There are happy hour prices for did and drinks, but those prices are only reserved for Bar & Lounge only, NOT GRILL SEATING. Overall, pretty good food, but prepare to spend at least $50+ per person to fill you up if not getting the combo dinners!

Last night was my first time going there with my sister who has gone there multiple times. Gyu-Kaku! One of my favorite Asian(Japanese) BBQ places! If you're not familiar with it. There's a little grill at your table and you're served plenty of meat that you cook yourself. There's a small guide as well to help you time your cooking. If you're lost well hey, ask your waiter/waitresses who are also knowledgeable about the cut and how long you should cook it. For the price, it is pretty pricey but the quality of meat and how its seasoned makes it worth it. I suggest not bringing naughty kids especially since there's a grill at your table. Drinks are great, food is great and all fun for your group of friends, colleagues or even family.

Depending on who your server is can make or break your experience. Our first time here was great because we had a wonderful waitress who paid attention to us and made the whole night smooth. The second time back, we brought our parents for a "thank you" dinner, and our waitress never refilled our drinks, didn't ask us if we needed anything, and actually forgot 4 items that we ordered. The food is good, but never will it make up for horrible service. We went on a Sunday night, and although they were busy, there were no lines out the door or anything--it seemed like a regular weekend night. Fingers crossed that your server is great! We will def go back for the food, but will not be tipping next time if we get the same waitress.

We went with a party of 5 and had a great experience. Maria was our server and Any the bartender helped out. We ordered the Shogun package which was enough food for all of us. The food was great, the service was excellent and we felt very well taken care of. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and family.

Went during lunch/happy hour. Therefore, the Japanese BBQ was at a decent price. Not too pricey. I enjoyed the meat. You have to pay extra for side dishes such as kimchi, veggies, etc. Amount of food is little compare to other bbq places. For two people, we spent about $79 and we weren't completely full. We had to eat again 1.5 hours later. Quality is decent. Quantity is not much. The waiter was friendly but it didn't seem like our business was appreciated. We ran out of water for a long time. The waiter and other staff walked past us 4 different times. I didn't want to ask them with the intentions that they noticed and will get to us eventually. We got so thirsty towards the end of the bbq that I had to raise my hand and ask for a refill. Our order was mixed up. Had to correct the order. Also, I requested for smores 3 times and eventually just gave up, lol. The only time the waiter gave us attention was when he brought me back the tip receipt after swiping my card and said, "Thank you both so much for coming in. I appreciate you both and hope you enjoyed your meal." He made the eye connection and all too. Wish his service was that good before because it'll would've improved our experience there. Hmm.

Was there this past wknd. Had a 30 minute wait for our table which isn't so bad cos we had a cocktail while waiting. Good variety. We had the Chef's Choice. I would have given it 5 stars if: 1) They had wiped/disinfect table clean before seating us 2) The meat could be thinker. Was way too thin! They burned quickly so watch for it. ( I agree with some of the reviews on this aspect.) Otherwise, we had a good experience!

Have you ever wanted to feel high from delicious meats? This is the place to do that. Perfect delicious succulent umami marinades. They're busy, service isn't always perfect, but if you are there for a good time and have a little patience it is wholly worth it. Been 3 times and will be back again. It was a busy Friday night and it looked like there was nowhere to sit, so I was surprised when they were immediately able to seat us in a secret back room :O The food itself was reasonably priced with great portion sizes, and we ended up making friends with (and sharing a round of drinks with) the couple sitting at the table next to us. Heads up that Japanese bbq is not the same as Korean Bbq. If you’re expecting “sides” you’re out of luck. They have rice and some sauces that you must pay for but that’s about it. Not my favorite place but it’s good if you are craving some bbq. It’s usually quite busy so either make a reservation the day before or prepare to wait an hour.

Tried this place yesterday and the food was definitely great, but wasn't as great as the ones we've had in Hawaii & Houston (same chain) plus customer service was not great. We had a party of 12 so we ended up getting 2 orders of the shotgun set which serves 6 people per set. Foods such as side dishes and apps came out first and meat usually comes out last (which is fine). We tried the "Harami in Secret Pot" and it was meh, it wasn't that great in our opinion - taste & flavor wise. One thing we did not like was, it would have been nice if we were able to substitute the edamame for something else since our party didn't really eat edamame and it was edamame bowls per person... it only took up our table space. The food overall tasted great but the customer service lacked big time. We never got water refills and we always had to ask to get our grills changed. When we asked our server to get the grills changed, she said yeah, she'll change it when we finished the few meat on the grill, but our grill was so charred that our pork belly ended up burning on the grill with the char.. she didn't come back to change it until after 10-15mins. I hope to come here more often in the future since the food tasted great but I was not too fond of the service here.

Absolutely fantastic! I love that the portion sizes are smaller and the prices proportionally less than other Korean or Japanese barbecues. That way you can try a wider variety of meats. They seem careful about covid which is another plus! Definitely recommend this place.

I was here today for dinner. The food and servers was amazing. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The place was super clean. As you walk in, there is a temperature checked so that you feel safe with the people around you. For pricing, I think is consider average. Amazing food and drinks, people that had problems with portions are probably fat or stupid, I am a big guy at 250lbs and i had no issues, Gyu-Kaku is a great dining experience hands down.

-Quality of meat/food is superb! For me, marinated sauce were too salty and sweet. -There is a designated parking space for Gyukaku customer only. This is a huge plus! especially considering the location. -When you get a 4 people table, one person will have limited space for the leg...this is a minus. The height of chair and couch is different too. -Following COVID safety precautions. -Tax charges are good and no extra service charge unlike some fancy Japanese restaurant in downtown. Overall, good experience and recommend the restaurant!

Spent four years in Japan with the Navy. Japanese food is easily the best food in the world. Gyu-Kaku is legit. Reminds me of Yakiniku straight from Japan. Service was exceptional, food is amazing. Atmosphere is absolutely fantastic. You get what you pay for, and it's a bit pricey - - but it's 100% worth it. Highly recommend 10/10

I had tried the Gyu-Kaku in Seattle and I'm thrilled to say that the one in Mpls is equally as delicious! There aren't a ton of tables so make a reservation and there'll probably be a wait if you have more 2 in your party. I'd recommend the bbq courses or a la carte beef! The build your own bento box is a great takeout choice! Definitely some of my favorite meals are here!
