Fantastic German bar serving cold bocks and dunkels on tap. Their fish and chips hit the mark with a crisp exterior over flaky white meat. I’m picky about coleslaw, but they nailed it with the right sweetness in a vinegar base. The service I received was excellent. The bartender was courteous and helpful (a rarity these days), and my waitress (Tiffany) was warm and attentive. Well done. The space filled up about 6:00, but they kept the service moving and always had space to accommodate those who came through the door.

Very authentic bar. You walk in and immediately smell the potato salad and schnitzel. The bar tender fit the bill. There's a good selection of beers perfect for washing down the flavorful food. It's not much a brewery though, as they don't brew any of their own beers. I had beer cheese soup with popcorn that was a great appetizer to warm up on a cold day. I followed it up with the jalapeno, cream cheese brautworst topped with sauerkraut and grilled onions and German potato salad. The brautworst is one of the best I've had. The potato salad was a bit too vinegary, but still good. My wife had the pork schnitzel sandwich with kettle chips and a side of garlic aioli and was very pleased with it. Overall, great place for some authentic tasting food.

When we arrived, it was not clear if we seat ourselves or need to wait to be seated. There was no sign and no one to greet us. Apparently, one seats oneself. It took a while for someone to come grab our order, but otherwise the service was fine. The food was ok, not terrible but nothing exceptional. We had the Schweineschnitzel & Spatzel, as well as the mac and cheese. The schnitzel was a bit dry, and the spatzel was a bit bland. I’ve had spatzel many times, and I find it helps to have some strong-flavored cheese or butter on it, which I did not detect. The mac and cheese was decent. There was live music playing, and while it was fun, it was extremely loud (we could hardly converse).

Stopped by Glueks for some beer and appetizers before the Twins game. The service was fast and friendly and we loved the decor. The beer was ice cold and the giant pretzel and fried walleye was the perfect appetizer before heading to the baseball game.

Cute little German pub. It was super busy when we went but our server (didn’t get his name but he had a Yankees cap on) was very attentive the whole time and continued to check in with us as we waited for drinks, food, etc. We were also in a hurry to make it to the game and he helped us cash out fast and efficiently. Food and drinks were both great! Fried pickles were the best I’ve had in a while

Walked in after 20 years between visits. Glueks has stood the test of time. The place has a great vibe any time of the day. Has accommodating staff good eats and the friendly locals make this pub a must if your looking boot of beer or a dynamite schnitzel.

Great food and great beer. I got a "sausage party", which came with two sausages, kraut, and warm potato salad. The flavor was great, and I loved the presentation with little flags for each sausage. For beer I got the Haus Red. Really drinkable and decent prices.

Very cool old bar/restaurant Downtown Minneapolis - actually one of the oldest. Old timey atmosphere...lots of stained glass, old photos and a really looooong bar👍👍 I tried 3 different beers in the cutest 4oz glasses...Edward the Golden, Hofbraeu dunkel and Grainbelt Elite...all pretty good The Walleye fish n chips were very tasty, my first time having Walleye - much better than Cod! Our server was great 👍👍 For spring - early fall there's a biergarten in the back. We all really enjoyed this place and can recommend it

Fantastic, let me reiterate, absolutely fantastic food. The beer is also delicious highly recommend the pilsner, such a good easy drink. The sausage sampler was the best thing we ate, closely followed by the gigantic pretzel. Loved the vibe in the place. Great service at the bar. 10/10

Edit: visited again a few weeks later and ordered the poutine again. It was completely different! The meat was in chunks instead of shredded and served much different. It was not a good as the last time I ordered. Key: inconsistency. Got there a few minutes before opening and we were welcomed in by a cheery server. I ordered the poutine (as a fan of poutine who will travel the distance to get it). It was such a crazy mix of flavors (dill pickles, sauerkraut, corned beef) that it was incredible! It's on the starter menu but enough for one person. I can't wait to go back and order again!

One of my favorite U.S. bars/restaurants! Not only an establishment that has been around since the 1930s, not only a place that has their own brand of beers, but a super classy establishment with very friendly people, with great German food and a wonderful beer selection. Favorite place to get German beer on tap in downtown. Food is also great. Be warned bands that play here like to play way too loud for the size of the venue. Favorite dish is usually the walleye sandwich. The deep fried picked spears are yummy for a appetizer.

The food was absolutely fantastic! I ordered the Four Sausage Sampler. OMG... BEST, BEST, Bratwurst I've ever had!!! It was amazing and very flavorful. Definitely will go back for that again!! My husband ordered the Black & Bleu hamburger. He said it was the best hamburger he ever had. I don't like hamburgers really, But I tried it also, it was very, good and juicy. The thing we didn't like was our server. She was always rushing around but I never saw her do anything only stand by the bar and chat. She was never at our table to make sure we were OK. Or if we need anything else. It took her forever to bring our drinks (water/bar drink). We got our food from another server. Then when my husband finally got his drink he ordered. He didn't like it. It wasn't what he thought it was going to be. So when the server Finally came back over again after I had to flag her down and yell excuse me!!! we told her it was not good. Can he order something different. He had one sip out of it. She got a attitude with us and smiled. Then when she walked away to tell the bartender about the drink that he didn't like and would like something else. The bartender laughed and rolled his eyes. It took 20min till my husband got his other drink he wanted. But by then we already eat our dinner. So Food that we ordered 5 stars. But, Service was 3 stars. I will go back and try it again cause of the food. But I hope we get better service next time. If not, definitely won't be coming back. By the way I gave her 20% tip too. Why?? cause I'm hoping she was just having a bad day.. But she didn't deserve a tip at all!

Awesome place. Very inviting staff.. Great beer. I loved the cream ale. We also had the pretzel sticks and the fried walleye. Both were great. I'm not sure which was best: the beer cheese or the mustard dip. This is a totally unpretentious, refreshing German bar with a nice front patio and rear beer garden. The place is huge, with ample bar and dining room seating. I'd watch a game here for sure. I randomly wandered in here, and I'd go back to Minneapolis just to get one more of their house cream ales. I went here twice and had a great time.

Possibly the best bar in downtown Minnespolis, or in all of the Twin Cities in general. This hallowed watering hole has seen some of the most legendary Minnesotans grace its booths, including Flip Saunders. I've never been here and not found myself basking in its glory and comfy cozy atmosphere. Plus, the drinks and food are absolutely fantastic. Can't beat their fish sandwich during Lent!

Awesome period appropriate interior; lots of woodwork. This is not a place for private intimate dinners. A beer hall/dining hall feel to it. Long shared benches along walls with small table and chair to accommodate any number of guests. Lotta people grouped together, but it's a great way for small talk, meet new people, and see the food that neighboring groups order. Omg and fried pickle SPEARS. I got the Schweineschnitzel with Spätzle entree. It was delicious, the dill sauce was perfect...I'll admit I was craving Jagerschnitzel, but that dill sauce. Yum. My friend enjoyed the brat plate.

Restrooms stink! This must be fixed or I will never go to this place again. Considering I was at this place only once in 25 years, my threat probably doesn’t matter much 😂 but the service is nice. Also, great pretzels! Exact german style. Perhaps the restroom is similar to the ones in Germany too. After all people drink beer and use the restroom a lot. Prince tribute dance show was so so. Probably gotten better as we left at 945am. Prince would have done the same. I got some memorabilia though which was cool. Some guy was selling the remains of a collection from late Mary Boyer. She passed few days after Prince had passed and was a very big fan of his at age 93. She collected tons of stuff and Prince had interacted with her all the times. There were pics about that along with LPs, vinyls a lot of vinyls. I picked up some rare purple 45 and a nice looking Batman one. Speaking to the person who was selling these for the Mary’s Estate was very eye opening. RIP Mary and of course @Prince

On a recommendation from a colleague, my husband and I stopped in here for a bite to eat before a concert. It’s a funky little place with a unique vibe for sure. The place was packed, and yet, the service was fantastic! We were seated quickly, our server was very attentive, and our drinks were kept full. We didn’t wait long at all for our food, and it was delicious! So glad we were told to eat here, we’d definitely come back!

Great German bar and restaurant. Themed nicely, feels cozy, but seats many. Guests got various things and said they were great. I had the bleu cheese burger, it was fabulous. Where ever they get their cheese, it was near perfect. Service was prompt, we stopped in right after the lunch rush so it was pretty empty. Lunch rushes will fill up during the weekday. I'd imagine before games also, due to vicinity of the Target Center/Field. Good selection of tap and bottled beer. Quite a few local brands.

As always, the beer was fantastic. There was a live band playing the night I went which sounded great. My only complaint is the $3 cover charge. Really? I got 12 ounces of beer and had to spend $11. Definitely worth a 1 star reduction. Your beer prices should more than pay for the band.

This restaurant is a very exciting place to go to! I love that they have different bands/DJs every Tuesday through Fridays and/or Saturday nights. The diversity of music genres they have is awesome! Most definitely a cool place to go to on the weekends! Everyone that works there is very nice, especially Julie, Cordell, Ashley, Dan, Matt, and Dave! They're all very knowledgeable about a lot of different things about the food items, the music schedule, and the area in general!

Can't say enough about Kaz about the staff at Gluek's for taking care of our alumni event. They have reasonable prices, good selection, but most importantly, excellent service. Easy to work with and super helpful, Kaz made it a breeze to plan our group event. And even when a whole bunch of RSVP's didn't show up, they still took good care of us. Thank you! Was looking forward to this place due to the good reviews and German food. The interior is warm and inviting. The food and beer were good, the only place they fell short for me was the service. The bar was half empty yet it took the bar tender quite a long time to check on us, and then when we were eating and needed another round, we had to sit for quite awhile with our glasses empty before we were checked on again. They also forget water that we had requested. Pretty lackluster service.

This place is amazing. It has a unique, German feel that's genuine—nothing contrived. There are tons of menu items that are fabulous, but my favorite is macaroni and cheese with chicken. It's the perfect balance of creamy, cheesy, and hearty. They also have great beer, of course. Please go there. You will not be sorry that you did.

We are in town for The American Legion Convention. A group of friends went last night and recommended it highly. The place is a bit crowded but not bad. Wonderful decor loved to mounted animals on the walls with Christmas lights on the horns. Really liked the deer tail. Had pretzels sticks they were huge. The table beside us had the real pretzel and it was at least a foot across. Looked amazing. Think we may go back for just that and a rootbeer float. Enjoyed the meal very much.

This is a great place to go before or after an event downtown. Wonderful food and a great beer selection. The beer cheese soup is great. Make sure you get the fresh baked pretzels to dip in the soup. The BLT is fantastic. Plenty of bacon and fresh tomato and lettuce. Try the house beers they are very good.

Gluek's is always a good time. Love their beer selection. Last time I had a cider out of Boston called the Downeast. It was incredible! Their large pretzel comes with excellent beer cheese and mustard dipping sauces, and the dough is flown in from Germany (so I've heard). I have never had a bad experience there!

Great place to get a drink with friends. If you can all agree on a beer you can get a tower which is 110 oz split between several people can make your night a bit cheaper if you're worried about that. Food is amazing, I always end up getting one of the giant pretzels that comes with the best beer cheese soup in the side.

Literally the best pretzels ever!!! That was the main reason why I went there and was not disappointed! The buffalo wings on the other hand weren't crispy at all and the sauce was literally so watery that it fell off of the chicken, so my boyfriend wasn't very happy about that. I would have given 5 stars but the wings marked it down a little bit.

I went to this restaurant before a Twin's game with friends and we wanted to eat somewhere beforehand that wasn't too crowded, had good beers, and good food. Overall we really liked the place. We really enjoyed the the large pretzel, their brats were pretty good, they had a variety of beers, and their beef stroganoff was phenomenal. What wasn't so phenomenal was their service. Our waiter, we would say, hated his job. He wasn't friendly, he would take one person's order from the table and immediately try to leave before taking everyone else's orders, he failed to bring a condiment we had requested, he was disinterested and unhelpful. When we asked his opinion on beers, cocktails, or food he gave very poor and vague answers which made us disinclined to ask any more questions, because god-forbid we trouble him with another inquiry. We loved the restaurant, the food, and the beers (beers honestly could have had a heartier head on them, but they were good, nonetheless), but not the service. Either the manager or the owner needs to get their staff in gear and put a little pep in their step or make some cuts. When I think of a German-themed restaurant, I think of a lively, enthusiastic staff and an environment full of merriment. This was definitely lacking. My last recommendation is to avoid the bald waiter unless you want to feel unwelcome. He sucks.

Took light rail to the twins game on a sunday. Got down there early and we decided to stroll around town. Figured lunch and a drink was in order and we came across Gluek's. Wait staff was very good. I ordered the black and blue burger with the egg on top, she ordered the sliders. I had probably the best ever in my 41 years and hers were phenomenal as well. Craig, the cook from 2 sundays ago and all the staff and ownership, awesome job. Were planning another trip on the light rail just to go there again even without a game. Applause. 5 outta 5 stars. Thank you for a great experience and food.

This is my favorite bar downtown (though it basically wins by default, most of the stuff surrounding it is awful). The atmosphere in here is German beerhall-esque, the beer selection is respectable, and the giant pretzels are indeed giant. Come to escape the club-inspired hysteria surrounding this place; if you can't stand the crowd at 508 in the evening, you'll love this place.

I hate bad reviews. I do my utmost not to give them. This place is neat, solid three for the history, atmosphere, friendly help. The food, is a solid 2. Not even close to what I expected. The snitzel is a country fried steak, not terrible, but not a snitzel. The gulasch soup is beef minestrone in a heavy paprika base. Not the gulasch I get over in Austria. The sausages are ok, but for the price for about a sausage, sausage and a 1/2, with crackers and fillers, it’s, eh. As a guy looking to be blown away, or to got an authentic German food experience, I was underwhelmed. The staff was super friendly, the bar is absolutely neat. Just the food that really wasn’t what I would call great. Spot for drinks? Solid. Dinner with three friends? Maybe order an appetizer and go from there. Sorry! With so many food spots in MSP, I’ll stop in again for a pint, but that’s probably about it.

Gluek's has become a standard gathering place for my friends and I. We have meetings there, dinner conversation is easy, the back room is very good. A big fan all the way around. Parking is expensive in the area (as someone driving in from the 'burbs) but available. The lady who takes care of us on our meeting nights is a lot of fun to work with.

Gluek's is a good place to get a good tasting, hearty serving of food that will not break the budget. With the exception of the Gluek's taps, you have the usual local crafts and domestic yellow beers. The decor is nice and there is a separate room in the back of the restaurant that is generally quieter than the front when band's are playing. Overall a good place to spend some time if you don't want to deal with the club crowd.

Get them "naked" (aka served only fried sans any buffalo sauce) with buffalo sauce and homemade blue cheese (also delicious btw) on the side. Just loads of "crunchy goodness" that might blow your mind! Yup, pretty much a life-altering experience!
