Not your regular out the box pizza but great mixture of culture to create such an awesome pizza. We ended up getting the all meat pizza which included gyro meat and make sure to ask for the green sauce with your pizza, man does it make a difference. We went with the large and wow, it was huge. Love supporting small shops like this and especially if it's good food. Definitely stop in and see these guys if you want something different from your big chain pizza guys.

The restaurant is clean. The employee that took our order was professional and pleasant. He also made recommendations. We waited longer than we expected for the food; however, the food was hot and fresh. The kabobs & kofta were tasty. The French fries were the highlight of the meal. The servings were generous. We would definitely come here again. But we probably will try the pizza. Most customers were getting pizza to go.

Visiting the Minneapolis area from Colorado and stopped in on a whim. We were not disappointed and left more rotund than when we entered. The Beef korma with rice was delicious and warm on a cold day. The pizza was full of flavor and when dipped in the green sauce the flavor explosion was unmatched! The staff were also extremely nice and service was prompt.

After many times of trying food from their menu, I finally have remembered to make a review! I first tried their food several years ago at a catered event. There was a variety of Afghani food including rice, chicken and beef shawarma, and salads. I absolutely love everything I've tried and it's all packed with flavor. However, to me, the star of the show is their pizza. It's created on fluffy but thin dough reminiscent of naan. I've tried the meat lovers and the house special and both are amazing! There is a perfect ratio of meat, veggies, cheese, and sauce. My favorite part about their pizza is their green dipping sauce. It's slightly tangy, slightly spicy - and pairs perfectly with the pizza. It elevates it to a whole different level. I love their food so much that I actually ended up catering their food and booking their event room for one of the days of my south Asian multi-day wedding functions 4 years ago. Everyone had nothing but good things to say about their food.

Wasn’t able to get a pic of the pie due to how delicious it was! Meat lovers (gyro meat, chicken and, beef) is fantastic and this green sauce compliments anything you put it on (eggs, naan, rice). Everything is pretty good here, explore the full menu.

Really great pizza with a unique style to it. Their spicy chicken pizza is probably their best, followed by their beef pepperoni (both halal, and therefore a great option for Muslims). Great for dine. Take out and they also offer frozen pizzas to take home and bake later. The only criticism is that their menu items besides pizza, leave a lot to be desired. Just get pizza from here and you'll be in for a unique and good time!

Ordered the Meat Lovers Pizza! 🍕😍 Keep in mind I'm a pizza fanatic/lover. Pizza keeps me breathing. On the mouthwatering pizza is gyro, beef & chicken baked to perfection! I absolutely enjoyed this pizza, it's in my top 4 for sure. 9/10 only because more sauce on the pizza is needed. The changes I would make to the sauce recipe would be to add some brown sugar for a sweeter taste, and a couple pinches of basil. The pizza crust was phenomenal, tasting homemade. Speaking of homemade, the fries tasted homemade as well. I'm also a fry fanatic/lover and these fries were delectable! 10/10 and in my top 5. Well Done and take my money! 💯

Update: Football Pizza is STILL #1! 🏆✨🏈🍕 Football Pizza has to be the BEST pizza in Minnesota. The meat lovers pizza (with beef pepperoni) and my favorite Beef Pepperoni/Pineapple/Garlic are unbeatable! 🤤🍕 Their signature green and red spicy sauce is delicious with pizza. The chicken wings are also delicious (lean and well seasoned). Not to mention the ownership and staff are truly awesome people. I feel valued and like family when I stop in. I can't wait to see Football Pizza all over the metro area! I highly recommend making a stop!

i am gonna be honest, i have been here many times before, even back when they called themselves crescent moon but just never took a picture because i wanted to eat the pizza so fast that it burnt my mouth. this time was ALMOST the same story but i managed to snap a picture before the rest of this ‘za was gone. needless to say, the pizza here is really tasty and unique. the sauces are the special touch that you just have to try!

First time trying Football Pizza. When we went it was really quiet, the young cashiers were very polite and patient with us (since we took our time exploring the menu). The food came out in about 15 minutes. Very delicious and flavorful (don’t forget to ask for the sauces). It will deff fill you up and you might take some home given the generous amount of rice they give. Next time we’ll be trying the pizza!

Whole menu fire, my fave pizza is the Hawaiian. Sometimes I add gyro meat, but it’s perfect just how it is. Chicken, pineapple, onions, red sauce, cheese. Simple, effective, highly delicious. You really can’t beat their base sauce. It’s just the right balance of savory with a slight sweetness to it. Crust is on point — thin but not hard. Ingredients are well-proportioned. Plus, halal. Come on, now. Who else is doing it like that?

Meat Lover Pizza was best and delicious. Meat was so fresh and has taste. Hawaiian pizza is much better if you like pineapples. Classic Gyro: Meat was dry and specially the bread. it does not go with gyro sandwich. They need to use pita or same bread with thin layer so you can eat it as a sandwich.

This is the best pizza in Minneapolis, hands down. The crust is perfection, a soft, fluffy flatbread. I love the halal beef & green pepper, with a side of spicy cilantro chutney. Also, get a side of rice, you won’t regret it!

Excellent pizza; we had the meat lovers and the beef was exceptionally seasoned. The chicken wings here are crispy and the shami kebab were delicious as well. I was a little disappointed by their Greek salad, which I wish had less iceberg lettuce and more tomato, feta, and olives. Nevertheless, staff are very personable, hospitable, and friendly. In chatting, we were offered our pick of drinks on the house. Hope to be back again soon.

One of my favorites in the cities, I always make sure to stop by when I'm in town. Used to be Crescent Moon Bakery, but their pizza was always the draw for me to be honest. Always choose to "make the pizza spicy"! Green sauce is a must!

Well I love visiting new places and new experiences the place looked familiar, it was and still is crescent moon Arabic/Muslim kindve place but it has somehow become or has attached Football pizza while speaking to a gentleman who took my pizza order ( Nice guy by the way gave me a discount after I told him it was my first time there) I noticed people eating and talking and coming and going but I also noticed bugs flying around..I mean come on it's winter where and how is this POSSIBLE all kind of little nets, fly's, BUGS I WAS AFRAID ONE WOULD GET IN MY PIZZA lbvfs well I'm a pizza fan and for the most part it was good u know like okay they also have prepackaged frozen pizzas in freezer right n the lobby!! U will need to check this place out yourself I'm still undecided

Didn't know what to expect, thought it was just your average pizza joint. The dining area was the average pizza joint but was very clean. The Pizza was fantastic!!! My husband and I have been together for nearly 5 years and there has been only one restaurant that has remained a constant throughout that time: Football Pizza. My husband has been going here for many years, before he met me, so I came to know this place through him. We went from sharing leftovers one night, to stopping in whenever we found ourselves in the area, to even eating here when we introduced our parents to each other, which led to us getting engaged shortly after. Tonight, we ordered pizza for Thanksgiving and it was one of the best thanksgivings ever and we hope to make it a family tradition from here on out. Throughout all our major milestones and even when we are just craving some really delicious pizza, football pizza has always been there and we will be customers for life. ❤️

Got two small pizzas one was meat lovers and the other chef special which had egg plant in it. Very tasty and generous quantities. A must eat of you visit Minneapolis. 2020 Update: Do not walk in and place an order to go, takes over an hour to ready the pizzas. Always place an order over phone Atleast an hour ahead. 2020 Update: New location made me wait over salad for an hour, coz they didn't have ingredients, no discount for wasting 1 hour my time. 2021 update: Really good pizza, got a XL size meatlovers/chef's special, was made really well.

My favorite order is one large gyro pizza (a must try) and one large mediterranean which is amazing as well. This place has amazingly palatable pizza. Every one that I've tried, is lovely and a joy to eat. Real ingredients, a slightly buttery crust, cheese that's think and stretchy, but not so thick you feel gross after. It's probably the most edible pizza I've had in the Midwest. Not to mention, the price. Very affordable considering the quality. 10/10 will be going there on the regular (maybe weekly), even though it's 40 minutes away from my home.

This place is like a second home always clean and welcoming. I've been coming here for 15 years from the Como location to the central location its always been a wonderful place. Most definitely a place to bring the family and kids. The food is 5 stars all day everyday never have a they served a bad plate. I swear to god you will never have a bad slice. I ordered the pizza takeout, when I arrived the restaurant was bright and clean. The Pizza that I ordered was vegetarian and I added meat to it because I love meat :-) it was a giant pizza big enough to feed 8 people and everyone loved it. the sauce that came with it was delicious on the pizza. I would recommend this place to anyone especially if you get tired of Pizza Hut and Domino's and want something a little bit different

Had the meat lover pizza which is gyro, beef and chicken. It was decent. Not the best pizza ever but definitely good. To be a meat lover pizza the toppings were kind of light. I also had the gyro plate... eh. At best. The rice was flavorful. The meat was fine, typical gyro meat. The sauce, cucumber, was super watery. I was underwhelmed.

Persian pizza! I drove by this place many times thinking it was a sports bar but heard from a friend that it had really good pizza so I went to check it out. The pizza is amazing they also have the best spicy sauce and other sauces to purchase! It's not over priced or protentious. This is one of the best slices I have ever had. Go try rit asap! They also make acceptional flat bread so soft n fluffy. They have great customer service and are friendly as well.

Do yourself a favor and visit Crescent Moon Bakery now renamed to Football Pizza where the service is great by the staff who truly cares about your experience. Food is amazing with great tastes. I moved into Northeast during the pandemic, and I'm really relieved there was Football Pizza to boost my morale. Not only do they have wall length coolers of Chicken, Gyro, and Pepperoni frozen pizza, they also sell Aloe drink which I can still barely find anywhere. Ten outta ten.

Yes, the pizzas are shaped like footballs. Yes, the slices are big and gorgeous. Yes, it's delicious. You can get frozen pizzas to go, as well as, baklava, pita bread, and a wonderful assortment of sodas/teas/juices. A great lunch spot where you can watch soccer. This places reputation for good Halal food reaches as far was Washington DC, so I had to stop by when I finally made a trip to the twin cities. I arrived to Minneapolis on a Thursday afternoon so I had the best tasting pizza for dinner. The next day I came back for lunch and the afghani platter. Amazing. On Sunday before heading back to DC I had to stop by again and grab another football pizza.

As a teenager, I remember this restaurant as Crescent Moon. I was delighted to discover they have consistently remained at this location after so many years despite changing their name to Football Pizza. However, make no mistake about it, this establishment is a local Central Avenue institution in northeast Minneapolis. I believe the old Crescent Moon owners bought the building, I could be mistaken which leads to another minor observation: despite the new name, there is an upstairs area called: Crescent Moon Event Hall/Banquet Room. Perhaps you could host a conference or wedding there? Back in the day, during the mid-2000s, they offered an iftar buffet featuring Middle Eastern foods during Ramadan. I am unsure if the new restaurant has continued this tradition. Perhaps I am stating the abundantly obvious at this point, but Football Pizza specializes in halal foods. It is no secret, finding trusted sources of halal dining options is few & far between in the Twin Cities, but Football Pizza will not disappoint on a halal diet. In fact, Football Pizza is one of the top 5 restaurants I would personally recommend for halal Twin Cities dining. So, rest assured, if you observe a strictly halal diet, Football Pizza will deliver & satisfy. Although the pizza is phenomenal, I would also recommend trying their kabob or gyro plates after your first visit. Football Pizza also sells frozen premade pizzas at this location. My message to the owners is this: keep up the great work! You should try getting your frozen pizzas sold at local grocery stores like Cub or Byerly's after figuring out franchising, marketing, & logistical details. There is no reason why Football Pizza cannot gain regional distinction as the leading go to brand for halal pizza for Muslim families in a growing community. I am confident the market is there!

I have gotten their pizzas before and they were great. This time not so much. We got a 'house special' take-out. It was ready when I got there (at the time they said it would be ready) and being kept warm. It was still warm when I got home. When I opened the box it was apparent that the toppings weren't there as usual. We ate it and it was OK, crust was good, but not a lot of flavor that they usually have. I'm disappointed.

This place has been one of my go-to spots for delicious food in NE since I've lived here. They specialize in cuisine from Afghanistan. The pizza is delicious, but I am especially fond of the goat kourma plate. Even though I have a big appetite, I almost always have leftovers to take home. They also have a buffet every night during Ramadan that is filled with all sorts of tasty things. The owners are all fantastic people and the staff they hire are friendly and efficient. Give it a try!!

We got takeout pizza and it was amazing! The Chef’s special has eggplant, mushrooms and juicy kalamata olives atop a thick crust, zesty sauce and a sheet of cheese. Mmm. Went afternoon to try their lunch buffet. It was pretty sad, most the dishes were depleted or looking like they've been there since the a.m. I had to ask for more pizza to be made which they gladly did but was a ten minute wait. It wasn't as good as reviews I had previously seen before going. It also felt kind of gross, like clean bit not. My table was slightly sticky and it just seemed like no one was working too hard at that moment. I would give it another chance, either pizza on it's own or come early for the buffet.

Coming from a place where there are no Halal pizza places I had to take advantage of being in an area where there are multiple. I loaded up on the meat toppings obviously and it was a pretty decent pizza but certainly nowhere close to the best I have had. Overall a good experience though and I recommend this place.

One if THE best pizzas I've ever had. We had the all meat pizza and it was incredible! The sauces they had were even better and really set this place apart from other pizza joints. I wanted to try all the sauces but stopped at the red pepper and the green sauce cause they were that good! The red sauce is for spice but the green sauce is for an added flavor, a mix of cilantro and zest. I asked the owner whats in the green sauce and he said it was a secret. I would highley reccomend and will definitely be back here soon!

They were setting up their large room for a big community feast but didnt forget to tend to the news of the folks there eating early. I have been going to Crescent Moon aka Football Pizza now, for over 15 years. It was best when the family was cooking. Then over the years the food quality has changed, as well as the portions. It's now hit and miss. Even the best two items that they are famous for, Bukhari rice, and their pizza, became more or less a mere luck. Recently I took my family there, we were 10 so we made a sizable order, yet we had to bring the food from the cashair counter to our table, the rice was very salty, the pizza meat topping were over cooked. Just not at their best at all. I only took one star as I still hope things will be fixed and back to their old days.

Perhaps it was inevitable that this place would be renamed after its best-seller, but Football Pizza (formerly Crescent Moon Bakery) knows how to do pizza. It's a nice change on a classic: pizza, with a middle eastern twist. The pizza is some of the best in town, in my opinion. However, the service leaves much to be desired. For example, when you call ahead and order a pizza and they tell you 15 minutes, you might arrive to see your pizza leaving with someone else and wind up waiting 15 more minutes for yours. It's a pretty scummy thing to see, and it's happened to me more than once, and I've seen it happen to other people as well. They have to work some kinks out, but it's doable and perhaps some of it is cultural--I'm not sure. That said, the pizza is great!

I visited the Crescent Moon Bakery with a few family members right at noon on a Monday in Aug. I have have been reading how popular this place is but when we got there, there was only other person in the store. This left me curious because I knew we should waiting in line or at least fighting for a table. I didn't even look at the rest of menu we just ordered the large Football pizza which I think is a good place to start. Just so you know this is more then enough pizza for at least 3 hungry adults and maybe even 4 if every doesn't pig out. We grabbed our seats and waited for the pizza. It took about 10 mins for our food to arrive, when it did I ran up to the counter to pick it up. I was really surprised at the amount of meat on the pizza, plus the onions were cut just how I like them nice and big. Both of my boys who are 3 and 5 really liked the pizza. They had to wait a little bit to start eating but that is true with most pizza for them. After we were done eating I got up to check out their selection of items in the cooler and freezer. They had some Crescent Moon frozen pizzas and also some of their different flat breads for sale. As I was looking at the freezer items the Owner came up and we talked for a bit. I finally got to the bottom of the empty restaurant. Turns out it is the Holy time for Moslems called Ramadan. For this holy time they do not eat any food until the sun goes down. He said they have a big prayer time, and then a buffet afterwards around 8:30 at night. This place is the real deal and should be checked out ASAP. Be sure to start with the Football pizza.
