This restaurant is absolutely phenomenal. From the second you get inside the staff take care of everything and guide you through your dining experience. They start with getting you seated and explaining the process then walk you through the course options, drink pairings, and more. Every plate was presented beautifully but beyond the aesthetic the food was absolutely amazing and each description was informative. We asked a number of questions and the staff seemed excited to answer. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Demi is Minneapolis’ answer to a Michelin experience. Food? Delicious and intentional. Drink program? Great. The non-alcoholic option is so fun too! Service? Impeccable and genuinely friendly. Presentation and ambiance? Beautiful. It’s DEFINITELY a splurge but I’d argue there’s nowhere else in town that comes close to this caliber of fine dining.

Journey for the Taste buds! We loved this experience the vibe was very relaxing romantic and educational. The tradition of restaurant was very unique from the building to the moving art on the wall. Maybe the best food experience of our lives. The staff was welcome and attentive and every single course was outstanding. My wife has a number of food allergies and we let Demi know ahead of time. They knew everything when we got there and it was so nice to not worry and have everything taken care of!

Amazing staff. Great food and a unique experience. Enjoyed trying new things. I don’t care for seafood and told them ahead of time and they had a special tasting menu for me without seafood. Extraordinary cocktails. This tasting menu truly took my tastebuds on a ride. Definitely enough food for someone to be full at the end. We had more courses that aren’t pictured. From my understanding the tasting menu is ever changing. Will for sure be dreaming about some of the things i tasted here. Some things I didn’t care for, but there were so many things to try that it didn’t matter.

When people say "treat yourself," Demi should be one of those places that come to mind if you are in the twin city area. Much care and thought go into every detail of your reservation, and it indeed shows through to their guest. As a solo diner, when I initially went online to book, I was met with a small barrier, reservation spots start for parties of 2 and up. I could not allow that minor detail to stop me with all the raving recommendations to try this place. I called them, and they politely booked for a party of one. If your reservation is after sundown, the inconspicuous building can be hard to find if it is your 1st time. Once you make it past those doors, prepare to be amazed and lose count of how many blissful times "WOW" will come out. Each course tells a story, walking us through the experience and wisdom the culinary team has picked up along their career paths. It's inevitable to notice the craftsmanship of their passion; this is true for both the food and the beverage side of this team. I opted to try the temperance pairings, as I enjoy exploring how creative the mixologist can get with NA beverages. There are no words to describe how amazed I was. In each course, the beverage pairing was perfect for the bite and left a smile on my face. With so much respect for the ingredients and methods used to bring everything together cohesively, I never once felt like I was missing out on something by going with the NA option. Chef Kaysen and the Demi dream team have respectfully earned a spot in my top 3 dining experiences of all time.

I was fortunate enough to receive a Demi gift card for two and secured reservations for a Saturday evening. Booking opens up the 1st of every month at 12:00pm - be prepared, as they fill up almost instantly. It is such a lovely experience from the moment you walk in the door. As you arrive, the mixologist will make a cocktail based on your personal preferences. You are then seated and from there begins what truly feels like a performance. The staff and chefs will tell you in detail about the wine pairing and corresponding course, ten courses total. Watching everything be prepared is so magically orchestrated…I love the horseshoe countertop seating, which allows everyone the opportunity to observe. All of the food was absolutely incredible, I enjoyed every single course even more than the previous one! At the end of your meal you are given an envelope with the entire menu and wine pairings listed out, as well as a box with a few little treats to bring home. The atmosphere is amazing, and the staff is so friendly, knowledgeable, and knows each guest by name. I really hope to have the opportunity to go back someday, I had such an amazing time! I cannot recommend Demi enough!

Demi is not a place you have dinner...it's a haven for a true culinary experience! Our meal was beyond outstanding. Each course was better than the one before. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. It's so much fun to watch the food being prepared and served...it was like a dance with everyone moving gracefully around and between each other. The food was stunning to look at and the wine pairings were spot on. We left feeling quite satiated. Even the bathroom is gorgeous with only candles and one small warm bulb for lighting. Chef/Owner Gavin Naysen stopped by to say hello and welcome us to the restaurant. He even served a few of our dishes and cleared some of the plates. We love that Demi implements a universal Hospitality Charge instead of tipping. We will definitely return...again and again. Thank you, Demi, for an amazing birthday dinner!

Food was 5/5. Comparable to the 3 Michelin star restaurants we’ve been to. Highly recommend. The mains were especially amazing - the agnolotti, turducken, and venison were flawless. However for the price, I expect a high quality of service and have to dock a star for that. Unfortunately we had a bit of frustrating communication with the restaurant before arriving. We simply wanted to understand their policies during inclement weather, as there was a blizzard coming, and without confirming with us they sent our reservation out to a waitlist and canceled on us. Thankfully they were able to fix this, but during the communication they didn’t seem to fully read our emails and responses were confusing. It was quite a frustrating experience to not have a phone line that was more available.

If you read my other reviews you know I am not really a long review / gusher but we've been looking for a place like Demi since La Belle Vie closed (yes 6 years)! Demi was amazing! Over Labor Day a few weeks ago I went to NYC and dined at four Michelin one star restaurants and Demi crushed all of them handily. In our party of four we had two pescatarians, one gluten free and dairy free person and one dairy free person (food allergies). It was not an issue and each one of us had our course tailored to us. They have a non-alcoholic pairing consisting of custom mocktails for each course containing elements of the flavor components of our current course. The attention to detail, immaculate presentation and feeling your brain firing dopamine from not only the novelty of the flavors and textures but also trying to comprehend the taste and texture as they evolve from first bite to aftertaste all contributed to the sublime experience. I had a few Ratatouille moments where flavors and emotions brought me back to childhood while simultaneously the flavor combinations combining like colors and shapes in my mind. It's been a while since I felt the waves of endorphins from each course. No need to leave town to experience amazing cuisine. It's a must experience place if you appreciate food artistry.

Imagine a fox chasing a rabbit in a field of wild flowers. The rabbit changing directions and the fox adjusting to those movements. This is the flavor experience of Demi. What first touches your tongue changes several times. The mock tail pairing was beyond my comprehension. Demi is the flagship dining experience of the Midwest.

Nestled between two buildings in the North Loop, behind Gavin Kaysen’s New American mainstay Spoon and Stable, sits Demi, arguably the most curated and exquisite fine dining restaurant in Minnesota. In a sleekly designed dining room, the square shaped, wood topped counter faces an open kitchen where the night’s (about) ten course tasting menu is prepared. Served up in bite size morsels, the food here is imaginative, flavorful, and precisely calibrated. Each bite delivers a unique array of flavors and textures with surgical precision. If the Michelin guide reviewed restaurants in Minnesota, it would be hard to imagine them not rewarding Demi with at least one star. The service at Demi is also phenomenal, each member of the staff is knowledgeable and engaging, and they are up front about additional costs beyond the original amount paid to secure the reservation (which, it should be noted, is substantial). All of this adds up to a unique, thought-provoking culinary experience that ranks among one of the best that I have ever enjoyed. That being said, it was also one of the most expensive. Diners should be prepared to spend a minimum of $200 per person (gratuity included) for food alone. Optional wine pairings and additional drinks will increase that cost accordingly, but given the excellent selection and curation of there wines and cocktails these are tough to pass up.

Went here with my boyfriend for our anniversary and I am SHOOK. The food was incredibly tasty (I loved the seafood they served and I don't really like seafood 🤣🤣🤣) and the drinks were amazing! I highly recommend the nonalcoholic drinks. Demi is so creative with them and they go REALLY well with the meals! It is going to be a lot more food than you think though, so prepare for that! By the time we finally got to dessert two, I was asking for mercy. Otherwise, the staff were so pleasant and kind and the atmosphere is warm and cozy. Definitely an amazing place to go for a special occasion!

Gosh, where to start with Demi?! I want to be detailed as possible without fully disclosing the current menu so you're just as in awe as I was going into my dinner reservations here on Thursday at 8:30 pm ... Let's start with the atmosphere: It's a beautifully detailed but small space in downtown Minneapolis. They can only seat up to 21 total guests so it was packed and lively. You're all seated around what appears to be a giant bar, where you're sitting directly facing all of the action in the kitchen. You're watching the meticulous detail that goes into every dish by the wonderfully vibrant staff at Demi (chefs and servers alike). Every waiter/waitress is extremely personable, the type of people that you want to instantly befriend. My personal favorites were Sara (Botchi), Sarah (with any h), and Teagan (fabulous mixologist who just doesn't miss). Diving right into the food: As you probably guessed, it's a sensational 10-course prix fix dining experience. Every meal is as gorgeous as the next and each is described by the chef who made it down to a t, every single ingredient is narrated so you know exactly what is in front of you. I took some brief notes in my notes app on a handful of savory and sweet bites before stopping to fully immerse myself in the experience ("live in the moment") so here they are: (1) Similar to the flavor profile of a Filipino Sinigang soup as a starter; (2) Amazing with the goat cheese foam and a hint of salt, there are orange beets and I've never liked beets until this moment; (3) Caviar, so delicious I had no idea I would even like this, so creamy and the perfect balance of flavors; (4) Guinea Hen so freakin good, I want more, perfectly seasoned and moist. {I'm going to let the photos speak for themselves!} Miscellaneous: *You can specify any dietary restrictions upfront (like my allergy to mushrooms). *There's a lovely woman named Teagan who takes your drink orders if you're not participating in the wine pairing program. If you don't know specifically what you want, leave it in her hands, she'll ask you for the flavor profile you're going for or simply the kind of alcohol you want and she'll concoct something wonderful. *The group of diners here are awesome, some have been coming back their 8th to 12th time, and this place is not cheap so that's true loyalty right there! *You have to practically make a reservation up to a month in advance because of dining availability and don't be afraid to take a time slot later than you normally would (we started around 8:30 and left around 11:00). *Be prepared to spend a pretty penny, for 4 of us in my group, we spent roughly around $260 per person which included all of our cocktails and the 10-course meal. *They automatically include 21% gratuity to your bill (but it's worth it trust me). All in all, for this being my very first fine dining prix fix experience, I left feeling satiated. You can't get any better than this restaurant and I wish all of the success in the world for Demi and it's staff (truly a great group of people). If you're visiting the Twin Cities and want a really special dining experience or even if you're a local, you have to try Demi, it comes 100% recommended. Cheers!

Went as a group of 4 on Halloween and had a lovely experience. Service was friendly and attentive, but a little cool at times. Nice physical space, as I am very in favor of compact concepts. Liked the counter seating, but again, wished for a little additional warmth from some of the staff. Food was excellent - only the mackerel course missed that mark (and it missed big). All other courses impressed, and some were truly outstanding. I will suggest that the pairings are essential! This made the meal for our group. Staff was well informed and everything was spot on. GM / Bev Manager was very good did some good guest making. All in all, one of the best evenings we've had in a number of years. It's not inexpensive, but I believe it's money well spent. Just what we needed and we will visit again. Couldn't quite muster a 5th star, but I wouldn't let that stop you......

I don't know if I could go here in the winter. Since there are two seatings you have to wait outside between if you get there early for the second seating. And also prepaid for a free dinner cocktail and we weren't giving it until we sat. The food was tasty, the concierge was nice, the less expensive wine pairing was very good, head overall was a fun experience. The flavors weren't the best I've had but they were very good. If they can organize that waiting period better and also directions to find it because it is tucked away almost an alley parking lot, it could get five stars.

One of the best fine dining experience I had, by the end of it I'm stuffed, it has a lot of courses and the service staff are very attentive! The taste here blew me away, but towards the end the amount of food gets overwhelming. Thoroughly enjoy the appetizers, which might have been the single best bite of food in my life

Demi is a unique restaurant with completely different concept. They offer you culinary experience. When you visit Demi you will try not one or two dishes, but definitely more than ten. In addition, they offer you excellent variety of wines specially chosen for their customers buy professionals. Their service is excellent. When you’re you don’t have a waiter assigned to your table, the whole staff is taking care of you!

If you are a true foodie you can’t visit the city of Minneapolis without trying this restaurant. Let me just start with an amazing customer service. The story start of me trying to make reservations online and not being able to secure a spot due to being over booked. So I land in the city and started making calls for the reservations, ended up getting a table for one around 815 for Friday.

Just incredible! The service was the best I ever had, even better than those three stars restaurant in NYC. Chefs come and confirm allergy and introduce each dish carefully. Also Talked to GK and he is amazing. The food is creative and absolutely tasty, especially the lamb chop. The wine pairing is special and I am glad to learn those wine. Fantastic food and a great experience. Everything felt safe and socially distanced due to Covid, but in a good way. All chefs had face masks on and all diners were seated at the corners of the counter making for a truly 'private' feeling experience that was safe to boot.

This is the best restaurant I've even been to, worldwide. It truly deserves every accolade. I hope I don't sound too pretentious here but I'm truly in awe. I'm a burger and fries kinda girl but I've eaten at a lot of these kinds of restaurants and frankly you usually walk away hungry and not that impressed. There are exceptions, and this restaurant is one of them. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming (actually warm in temp too so don't bundle up), the host and staff all introduce themselves and ask for your name. Their demeanor and attitude makes it feel like you are having dinner at a friend's, or at least acquaintance's, home. I have to say the service was unparalleled in attentiveness, attention to detail, and friendlyness. I do not even know where to start with the food or drinks. I don't think I can truly capture how a seemingly simple corn broth could have me in raptures...and that was only the first course. The food and accompanying drinks (non-alcoholic for me) tasted like home, as if the highlights from my childhood had been captured and put on several plates. I don't mean to say the dishes were childish or traditional in any way, rather each bite was so flavorful and focused that it transported me into a memory. If you could taste memories, these dishes are what you would want them to taste like.

Wow. From the moment we walked in the door at Demi we were treated to a flawless evening. It's hard to begin to describe the evening's service, but each and every member of the staff at the restaurant was attentive, knowledgeable and happy to be there. The seating arrangement in the restaurant gives you the opportunity to sit up close and personal to the kitchen staff and watch them prep, cook and plate the countless courses. Having eaten at Spoon & Stable and Bellecour a few times, the food was both exactly what we expected and yet so suprisingly creative and unique. Each course carried a story, delivered and described by it's chef. The pairings (both Demi & Temperance) were thoughtful, fun and accentuated the dishes they accompanied and bar staff gave us awesome insight into their preparation. Demi is definitely a unique gem in the Twin Cities. While it's not a place we'll visit often, we will definitely be back to celebrate a future special occasion!

5-stars does not do Demi justice. This is the best dining experience you will have outside of New York. Enjoy the show, your palate and stomach will thank you. The staff is warm and inviting. Amazing, filling, and satisfying experience... I would recommend the aperitif beforehand and let the bartender make you a surprise drink. The dinner was top notch from start too finish and served by your group instead of having to wait for all the the plates being ready for the entire room - resulting in fresh food and your own personal experience. We didn't do the pairing since we got late Sunday night tickets (just happy we got tickets!) But we bought non-alcoholic drinks a al carte. Come with an empty stomach, it is a great value considering all the courses and service, just good luck getting tickets the first of the month!

Wonderful experience! Every plate was carefully designed and delicious. The staff, including Chef Kaysen, rotated serving us throughout the evening, each chatting for a couple minutes. Everyone was so welcoming. I highly recommend the wine pairing. It provided a great compliment to each dish and was its own experience.

What a amazing experience. We loved our dinner. We started out with the custom cocktail and loved our drinks. Once sat down the menu was very tasty and full of great seasonal flavor. The Demi wine paring was perfect for our dinner. This is the best special occasion restaurant in the Cities. Must try for all food lovers.

Food was a little disappointing. I only liked the 3 Appetizer bites that came in the beginning. Everything else was just okay, flavors didn't go well together. Maybe it's me but I literally had a bite and couldn't go back for more. I gave 3 stars for presentation and customer service but I wouldnt go again because I didn't have a dish that was given special enough to come back for. I've gone to many tasting meanu restaurants and this was by the far the only place where favors didn't meet my expectations. For example the Red Bussan Crab was too salty, Au Bon canard Foie Gras Terrine dish tasted like stuffing and pate with jam on top, Sturgeon was too fishy after taste, French Veal tasted like spam, Ravioli has way too many flavors that didn't go well together, honey soy ice cream would have been better without the cashew butter totally over powered the whole dish, parsnip and banana had some crumble on top that almost could have broke a tooth, and the soup that was given in the beginning before the meal that left a thyme flavor in my mouth I couldn't get rid of. The portchetta was probably the only dish that I almost finished.

The most incredible dinner experience my partner and I have had to date. We decided Demi would be our place to celebrate a couple upcoming milestones and we already can’t wait to return. 👐 The staff was charismatic, professional, and very knowledgeable. My partner and I selected both the aperitif and wine pairing which complemented the courses insanely well. After missing the reservation many times I finally got in! Was the reservation process easy yes but with the high demand for this amazing experience its completely understandable with high quality comes lower volume. It was a special day to celebrate with my significant other so we opted for every upgrade from black Australian truffles to wine pairing. I must say ive had many wine pairings that seemed to barely be thought through this was a eye opener to that experience when the food and wine compliment each other so well you know that the chef put alot of time in training and test to get to this perfect execution. The food was all amazing, rare, flavorful,and cooked to perfection. The staff was very friendly and informative each plate was described in great detail to where it came from how it was prepared. One chef Adam stood out with his vast knowledge about everything he presented to us it just made the whole experience feel as if we were eating the finest food of the entire world in one place! We will be back and are excited to come!

This is such a hard place to review, if only because the experience and food may be drastically different from visit to visit. This is an experience. The open kitchen, the bar seating, everything about this will be unlike any other dinner you've had in the Twin Cities. The food is exquisite, every piece on the plate thought over and in it's right place. The wine pairing will be just as thoughtful, even reminding me that I don't always hate Chardonnay, and bringing out of my favorite Spanish Rioja bottles on our last visit. But something weird happened at the end. When we got to the dessert section (we had 3) they seemed to forget about us. No wine pairing (I could see others getting wine with dessert), no offer of coffee or tea. No one even indicated we'd been served the last course, and as we had prepaid the whole meal no check. We finally had to flag down staff and ask if it was over. Very odd, and I'm sure a fluke, but still. Also, we noticed that the nights first seating got their dessert bites boxed and sent with them. I wish they would do this for both as we were both quite full but didn't want to leave without eating everything. It's still an amazing experience unlike anything else in the area (maybe Travail, but that's more of a food party). It is easily on par with some of the midwest's other well known fine dining, or at least the Alinea group restaurants we've been to in the past. It's a shame our most recent visit has a few mis-steps. We'll be back.

Fantastic tasting experience in an intimate space. Staff gives great explanations of each dish and gives you a menu to take away so that you have a record of the experience. Recommend the personalized cocktail and pairing as well (equivalent of about 4.5 drinks in all). All counter seating in a horseshoe makes for great people watching as well.

My wife and I loved our meal here. It’s an experience as much as a meal. We did the wine pairing as well which was superb. The prices are very high but I don’t know of a comparable experience in Minneapolis. We will definitely be back!

I didn't know a dining experience could be so magical, for lack of a more powerful word. The food was art, the staff felt like close friends, and my next experience at Demi could not come soon enough! The vast majority of our dinner was fantastic, but there was a wobble related to my food allergy that was unfortunate. I am allergic to shellfish (all types) and let Demi know in advance that I needed an accommodation. They had it noted when I arrived and my courses were adjusted accordingly through to the ravioli course, which had squid in it. Squid is a mollusk and I've been advised by my doctor not to eat it. When I let the waitstaff know I couldn't eat squid they told me no, I was wrong, squid isn't actually an issue for people with shellfish allergies. They were very assertive about it and made me question my own understanding. I pulled out my phone and checked to confirm - I was correct, people with my type of shellfish allergy (mollusk and crustacean) should not eat squid. By this point the waiter had left the table and it took a few minutes for someone to come back and check on us and a few minutes more for them to switch out my plate. This was just a small part of an overall incredible dinner experience. I'm sharing in the hope that someone from Demi reads this and takes the opportunity to educate their staff regarding shellfish allergies to prevent similar experiences for other diners in the future.

From the moment you walk in the door, prepare to be taken on a first class trip through the entire culinary world. What I think makes this place so unique is that every patron must let go of the typical control they might have at a restaurant and trust the staff at Demi to craft a meal and compliment it with wine to perfection. Yes, there will be some courses that contain things you might not like, and yes, there will be some wines that you do not like either. Delicious, well prepared food served by an enthusiastic staff. Demi lives up to its reputation. But it's not something I would do again soon. Everything about Demi is turned up to 11. There is a lot of food - small servings but by the end I was more than well fed. The flavors are so many and varied it becomes hard to really savor any of them (although the perfect single ravioli in a fragrant tomato sauce left me wanting two more and time to enjoy them). The atmosphere is loud and boisterous- lots of people having a wonderful time with good food and drink tends to reach a level of sound that can overwhelm you at times. Do I recommend you go - absolutely. You will need to decide if you go back.

My husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary at Demi, and the evening was beyond our wildest dreams! The service was spectacular, warm, and friendly. We felt so welcomed, and everyone on the staff even knew it was our anniversary. The food was extraordinary. Every bite was perfectly executed, adventurous, unexpected, and positively delightful, and the reserve wine pairing was full of delicious surprises. Beyond that, I came here to thank the thoughtful staff at Demi for how they handled my food allergies and preferences. I have Celiac, so dining out is not always the most pleasurable experience. They made accommodations to each course that contained gluten that gave me the same elevated experience as my husband, and they were so careful in how each plate was presented and explained. We are already talking about making this an annual event (as an evening at Demi isn't an everyday occurrence!). Many thanks to the entire staff for a perfect celebration and hands down the best meal I've ever had.

The staff is extremely good at making you feel right at home and greet you like old friends. The pre-dinner cocktail is a must - how fun to have a drink generated just for you! The restaurant setup is so unique and the whole experience makes you feel like you're a part of it. The food is so interesting and inventive, not to mention delicious! We added wine pairings each time - the wines were described to us in detail for each course and the pairings were right on the mark. Did I think the pricetag was a bit outrageous? Sure. Was it the the best dining experience I've had in years? Affirmative. The meal came in ten to thirteen courses (depending how you count them) and we ordered the wine pairing as well. Hats off to the sommelier! Most of the wines were from regions or styles outside of my typical wheelhouse and I loved them all the same. There is a true art to pairing, and the sommelier is a master. The food was also spectacular, inventive, and exciting. Each dish was a new experience and involved wonderfully creative flavors and textures. This was a truly unique dining experience. Lastly, the service was fantastic. At Demi, you so not have a server--you have an entire team taking care of you. All staff were very personally and able to answer questions about the wine and the food. The service alone warrants a 5 star review. If you enjoy the finer things in life and can comfortably foot the bill, this is absolutely a worthwhile experience. This may very likely be the pinnacle of the Minneapolis dining experience.

I'd like to start by saying Demi is an experience. For those of you reading I won't spoil all of the fun in this review. I feel you should visit to truly understand. The food was amazing. There were many more courses than I thought there would be, you never knew what was coming next. I also did the non-alcoholic pairing which went well with each dish. Impeccable service, I wish I knew all their names since they all knew mine from the moment I walked in the door. Everyone working also knows each dish and pairing. They work as a team to serve everyone, this includes the chefs serving you as well. I have so much respect for all of them working, thanks for everything tonight. The seating was something I've never experienced. It felt inclusive and yet you never felt isolated. If you choose to go alone you won't feel awkward. I would always suggest bringing at least one friend, I feel that is the best experience. I'd say that for any restaurant though. I highly recommend trying Demi if you can!

I must say this was a very unique experience dining. Each course is artistically presented with a beverage pairing that compliments the meal. It was good, but quite frankly not my cup of tea. The stories behind the food were interesting but a bit forced. By that I mean it was more scripted than conversational (which I guess it would have to be), given the pace and time allotment for the dinner reservation. If you are a foody, I would recommend going once just for the experience. Again, it was interesting (the food in my opinion was good, but not great) but for the price offering I do not feel that the cost was justified. I just never really felt “at home” like I do at other restaurants. I realize I am very alone on this review and everyone has different tastes, but this will mark my one and only visit.

Hands down the best dining experience I have had in Minneapolis. our Host Adam did a fantastic job at explaining the food and wine as well as making us feel at home throughout the entire experience. Although I didn't love all of the dishes (which would be nearly impossible with 13 courses) everything was excellently prepared and I enjoyed aspects of every dish. There are only a handful of restaurants in the Twin Cities that I would suggest going out of your way to make a reservation for, this is definitely at the top of that list.

We did a double date here the first day of their Spring menu. Once we arrived, Scusi made us feel so welcome getting us sparkling wine and telling us a little bit about the restaurant. We then played a card game to make the perfect, custom cocktail. I highly recommend coming early to partake in this game. We were then seated on the corner of the bar which was perfect for a party of 4. We decided to do the more expensive wine pairing. Normally I don't enjoy wine pairings because the wines aren't something I would normally order. However this one was perfect. I enjoyed almost every wine and we enjoyed hearing about the pairing with each dish. Gavin Kaysen was there and came around several times throughout the evening delivering dishes. He was so nice and made the dinner even more memorable. The food was of course delicious and the presentation of every dish was impressive. So much thought went into the silverware, dishware, etc. We can't wait to return to try another season.

I am rating this based on the $200+ per person we spent (which includes a drink pairing), so being picky here and rating this like a $200+ restaurant. Food was very good - the courses were all at least "good", a few of the courses were fantastic, like a red pepper ravioli with lamb belly and manchego, a plate of golden beets and chevre and cucumber, a dessert of yogurt that had cherry and almond involved. I had the "temperance" drink pairing - the non alcoholic version - which wasn't quite my thing. Points for the attempt at a non-alcoholic pairing that wasn't a bunch of virgin mojitos, but some of the drinks (one made with red pepper and lemon comes to mind, and a wild rice "sake") were interesting for a sip but not something to crave a full glass of. Service and timing of courses was top notch. Volume was noisy but reasonable. Will return for a special occasion or when trying to impress.

We were lucky enough to score a reservation for demi's opening weekend to celebrate a birthday. Our dinner was phenomenal! Gavin (who was there and overseeing the evening) has absolutely nailed it in terms of bringing a world class tasting menu experience to the Twin Cities. The service was outstanding. The food was perfectly executed. The demi wine pairing was spot on. Without spoiling it for others, I will say we voted the cod or grilled octopus as our favorite stand alone course, the foie gras (aka church basement fruit salad) as the best pairing, and the Waygu as something that could very well get us to add red meat back to our regular diet! It was such a fun evening and a meal we will remember for a long time. We are already planning to return for our anniversary in August (assuming we can get a reservation as I am guessing this will quickly become a near impossible place to get a table!) Some tips for those that may be interested: - We found the 2 hour meal to be the perfect amount of food. We may try the 2.5 hour meal next time just to to prolong the experience (as it went by so quickly) but, food wise, the 2 hour experience was just right. - We did the standard demi wine pairing (versus the Reserve) and can't say we felt it was subpar. They were nice pours with a new one for every course. They were unique and well curated to pair with the food. For us, Alma sets the bar for wine pairings and demi proved to be at or even above it. (The foie gras and French cider pairing was genius! The Rioja and Waygu was spot on!) It might be interesting to try the Reserve pairing some time but not because we felt the demi was mediocre. - Our 19 year-old daughter joined us. We ordered the Temperance non-alcoholic beverage pairing so she could experience how food and drink complement one another. She loved it! They were each unique and thoughtfully created to accompany each dish. - Each party is seated separately and at its own time which enables very personalized service. We did the first seating of the evening at 5:30 and would do this again. We were able to be surprised by each course whereas arriving later, this would not be the case as you would see fellow diners served. - Service is second to none. Every member of the staff we encountered was friendly, engaging, and attentive. They even all individually wished me a happy birthday based only on the note in the reservation! The special doughnut and candy floss with a candle was a very thoughtful touch! - It was an absolute privilege to meet and have Gavin serve us some of our courses. He is very personable and clearly loves what he does. He understands not only how to make great food but also provide superior service. He spent time with us answering some of our questions and sharing about his experience and background. He even took the time to sign our daughter's menu as she giggled in delight!

Cozy, thoughtful, surprising, and well-put together. I highly recommend opting for the drink when you come in; you basically tell the bartender whatever mood, liquor, word--anything, and he will make you that in drink form. I asked for "law school" and was stunned by how delicious it was. The drink is undoubtedly better than the real thing. We had opted to have the white truffle on one plate. It's incredibly fragrant and added a lot to the pasta it came on. Personally, I do think truffles are too expensive. But if you want to go for it, I would recommend getting it on one plate as opposed to each of them so you can try it out without committing and getting overwhelmed.

I was able to get tickets on my first try. I took the advice of the internet and my friend and I spilt the beverages; we got one each of the Demi pairing and the temperance pairing and then shared. The made for you cocktail was delightful as was the experience of watching a master come up with and execute a wide range of very different beverages (and everyone sighed happily on their first sip). The pacing was excellent and the food was wonderful. This really is a Minnesota experience with fish from Lake Superior, wild rice, an upscale jello salad and plenty of ingredients from here. Yes, it is the most expensive meal I have ever eaten and I also understand there are plenty who go without. It was a memorable experience that I am so pleased to have had. I was lucky enough to come here for a birthday dinner with friends and the staff treated us very well For those who dont know, you need to get reservations which they release the month before for people to snag (So September 1st for all of October, October 1st for all of November and so on) They have a few options when you do make your reservation based on time and duration of service as well as drinks and extras Then you're given more options when you arrive, so you can dial your experience to your wallet There is no "menu" and everything is coursed out and paired with different drinks based on which drink option you chose They do their best to dial in the menu to your needs and palette The food and drink pairings are well thought out and accentuate the flavors or aid in digestion It is not a cheap meal and with service fees and tip your meal starts at $100 for the basic experience with no drinks and can climb to $400+ with all the options I suggest everyone experience it at least once
