Coastal’s new location is inspiring. It’s fresh, inviting and such a fun atmosphere. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They answer any questions and never make me feel foolish. There is no other place to buy your seafood! They also have an amazing selection of charcuterie and condiments. One stop shop for me! And the kids love taking photos with the fish on the side 😜

They have the freshest seafood in the Twin Cities. The staff is knowledgeable, welcoming, and helpful. They have a deli which offers some nice lunches. They also have outdoor dinning so you have a place to sit down. Parking can be an issue when they are busy, and the pricing sometimes changes suddenly leading to some sticker shock.

Five stars for the cafe, selection of seafood and cheese, and the always friendly/helpful staff. Today, I tried the cafe’s cobia fish sandwich. The fish fillet was grilled perfectly and I was pleasantly surprised that fries came with the sandwich. I usually order the salmon rueben or fish tacos and was happy to switch it up. 10/10 per usual. Furthermore, all the packaging including the small ketchup container is made of compostable material. 😍

Best sushi grade fish in the state. The Ora King Salmon is amazing. We happened to have lunch here as well. We had lobster rolls, excellent as expected. Always a must stop when we go through the twin cities.

The only place to get fresh and frozen seafood. I always come here for our sushi grade tuna. The service and help from the staff is outstanding. They help us with the amounts needed for dinners and everything. If you like seafood or cheese, go check them out. You can also get lunch made on the spot.

Amazing workers, fair price for the fish since it is great quality, and they have a convenient section of other items (sauces, vinegars, cooking wines, bread crumbs ect) that one might need for whatever dish you are making (I am making sushi), and the workers really helped us out. We didn't really know what we were doing and they were super kind, funny and knowledgeable. Plus, for their sushi grade fish, they place ice blocks in between it and the other fish to help minimize cross contamination which I appreciate. I'm definitely coming back here everytime I need fish for sushi.

We have had many dishes from the MPLS location and have enjoyed them all. Tonight I tried the clam strips and the crab cake BLT. Doll went for the smashed Ahi tuna burger. She couldn’t stop raving about it! She loved it so much. My crab cake BLT was excellent, huge crab cake, gonna be two meals for both of us.

It’s hard to put into words how much I love Coastal. I usually go for sushi grade fish, crab legs and lobster, but started branching out recently and loved all of it. Their new storefront rivals Surdyk’s cheese shop and the staff is so freaking nice. I don’t buy seafood anywhere else and only direct people to Coastal. They’re the best.

I grew up having seafood as a special delicacy and growing up on the west coast, I've tried my fair share of fresh seafood. It's everywhere and has a distinct flavor that is unforgettable. Coming to Coastal Seafoods was like coming home again. As soon as I entered the smell that wafted in was incredible. I could tell JUST by the smell that everything they sold was fresh and I bet when cooked it would be absolutely delicious. It looked expensive but very worth it. I was tempted to get some raw seafood to take home but I had my eyes on another prize: the cafe. I've heard raving reviews of their cafe and so my husband and I got a lobster roll each. And they were gigantic! Totally worth the price. The bun itself was seasoned and had a flavor explosion. The lobster was towering on top and every bite was juicy. It was so good I could cry - and was actually kind of sad when I finished eating it. This is one of the best lobster rolls I've ever had. Thank you for letting me experience being back on the west coast again. I loved this place and can't wait to come again. Side note, their pandemic response is phenomenal. They limited the number of customers inside and even had temperature checks for every customer prior to entering. A++ from this covid nurse.

Super nice and knowledgeable employees that recommended the best sushi grade salmon and tuna I’ve ever had. Thursdays were 20% off salmon as well. They took temperatures at the door and had good COVID precautions. Would definitely recommend this local shop!

Well.....I from Florida so I'm used to the seafood in my city. The market is well set up and fully stocked. I gave 3 stars because we bought 1 dungeness crab for $25!!!!! I completely forgot that the weight included the whole crab not the cluster. At home you pay about $11-$14 a pound. This will yeild 2-3 clusters. After we boiled the crab and cleaned it, it was hardly any meat! We should've purchased the snow crabs. Also the store is across from the old location. Google sends you to the old location which is closed. The should add better signs😞 I would go back but would definitely NOT buy anymore dungeness crab!!!

I went there today and the guys who work there were really nice and attentive. Prices were reasonable. I just wish they had more variety of fish . Also, there is a restaurant in the store which is nice. However, it would be even better if you could buy your fish there and cook it in the restaurant.

Costal is the only place I go when I'm buying seafood to cook. They always have the freshest fish and crab for good prices. I live that they have special discounts of each day. With their new space (located across the street from the old one) they added a small kitchen and serve up a small selection of great bites. I like the new store layout and how they expanded it. As always the seafood sold is exceptional. It's my favorite place to go to for seafood. I love watching their video clips on how to prepare various seafood dishes. I tried a couple recipes of theirs and it was good!

First time in, and everything was great. I was looking for a whole fish to fillet and cook, and they had a selection of very fresh catches (the eyes were not glazed over--a telltale sign the fish is getting old). The folks behind the counter were enthusiastic about my mission to re-learn how to fillet a fish and offered some helpful tips. After prepping and cooking, the fish was melt-in-your-mouth delicious.

Every time we drive into the Twin Cities, I try to factor in time for a trip to Coastal Seafoods. Their products have always been so fresh and so delicious, and their staff has always been extremely personable and accommodating. And all of that has been greatly enhanced by their move to the big, new, clean, bright, fresh store with a prepared food service/dining option as well. I absolutely LOVE to shop there, not just for the best sashimi grade salmon that can be found, but for the general experience in itself!

Small store, but the fish looked great on ice! They even had baby octopus. I tried one of their hot fish sandwiches and it was filling and flavorful. I always make cioppino when I visit my parents. The dish calls for a variety of fresh seafood and many grocery stores often don’t have everything I need, let alone fresh not frozen. Never the case here. The variety, selection, quality, are all amazing. My parents live in the suburbs so its definitely a haul to get there, but if you need the best in seafood, then its worth the drive. The staff was all friendly and helpful. They can suggest preparation methods and will custom cut the amount you need. While the shop also sells other gourmet foods, it is a bit higher prices than many other places. Again this is the spot for seafood. Social distancing protocols all in place, felt totally safe. 10/10 will be going back.

The best place to get fresh sea food in MPLS, the pricing is fair and its practically right out of the water. Friendly staff, you know it's good when it stinks like that when you walk in. They also have a great assortment of great cheeses and snack crackers, I like to get some of the fanciest cheese I can find and put on a top hat and pretend I'm someone important (I am not).

This place is amazing. The oyster selection is impressive as is the bountiful selection of fresh fish and crustaceans. They upped the grocery game to the point that the only thing you won't be able to make from shopping here is a leafy green salad! I noticed Niman Ranch offerings as well. Pork lion and burger patties specifically. I got lost in the vast assortment of condiments and ingredients from around the world. Perhaps the most amazing thing is: They now serve meals!! I had no idea: Lobster Rolls, Crab Cakes, Clam Strip Basket to name a few offerings. I was not able to stay for a meal but I will be back! Hopefully on the next warm autumn day so I can enjoy the outdoor seating area in front. Beware of the parking lot. There is only one entrance/exit. This confuses people. Please don't let it confuse you.

Fresh and varied seafood options. Stunningly knowledgeable and helpful employees. A dedication to ensuring the store isn't over populated during the pandemic, and a rich assortment of high end foodstuffs to complement the seafood. I visit here every time I come to visit family in Edina. And we are never disappointed by the quality of our selections. This time, my head blew apart looking at 6 different types of oysters. (I really liked the briny one from the west coast.) In a word, if you love seafood and have the geographic fortune to live or visit nearby, you won't be disappointed in the quality.

The best seafood selection in Minneapolis — and now this location has a lunch counter! The menu is not long but diverse and thoughtfully designed. Even the humble tuna melt is classed up with stone ground mustard and Gouda. Other familiar seafood staples like clam fries and the lobster roll sit alongside inventive twists like a salmon Reuben.

Coastal is *the* place to purchase seafood in Mpls/St. Paul. The new Minneapolis location is gorgeous, not to mention four times larger (or more!) than it's old, funky location across the street. They pretty much know everything. The staff is friendly, unpretentious, and happy to help. There's no "specialty shop snobbery" here. If you don't know something, ask--they'll help you out. The quality of the seafood itself is excellent. Short of living near the ocean, this is as good as it gets. They also have classes if you want to learn more about The Bounty of Neptune. They are fun--and you get to eat a bunch of good food besides. The class on oysters opened up a whole new world for me (and they're routinely only $1/each, making them affordable!). Aw, shucks!

I had plans to go to a local seafood restaurant that got canceled and decided on a whim to go to Coastal Seafoods and check out their oyster selection. I am glad I did! I bought a handy dandy oyster shucking tool ($30) and 5 each of 5 varieties of oysters and it was game on! Everyone was friendly, I observed that there was quite a selection of seafood, fresh and frozen and many returning customers. I will now be one of those!

The staff here are so helpful and knowledgeable about every product they carry. If you love ANY type of seafood, this should be the ONLY place you get it from. Everything in their coolers is brought in fresh daily so you always know you are only getting the best quality fish. We love coming in on Mondays when their shrimp is 20% off. Put it on the grill with some rice or Asian inspired noodles for a flavorful dish. They also do cooking classes and am looking forward to going to one of those in the very near future.

As of yesterday sashimi grade fish was limited. They had one small bad looking piece of yellowtail and the only salmon they had was king salmon. Ahi tuna was available but at 39.99 a lb. That is outrageous. However the guys in there sure have a good time getting the customers fired up. I enjoyed the purchasing experience and I think that's part of what you're paying for.

Great selection, fast and friendly staff. They have everything you could possibly want. They had at least 10 sashimi grade varieties the day that I went. It is a small store but they get folks taken care of quickly so it's not too crowded, even if it's busy. They also have a good selection of various condiments and related goodies for whatever reason you're getting the fish.

Great fresh seafood, likely most consistent in Twin Cities market. More selection in morning than end-of-day, seems obvious but something to consider as you're planning your trip. You may have to wait a minute during peak times but it's a great experience overall that is fun! People are always real nice and helpful.

If you buy seafood on Xmas Eve there will be a line. The seafood is top notch! Sustainably sourced, fresh, and delicious. It was worth the wait! The service is polite under the crushing Holiday flood of customers. The shrimp is meaty. The oysters are succulent. I will be returning for the top notch seafood they sell.

Most fish shoppers probably already know that this is the place to buy seafood. There are other stores that carry good fish, but none of them have the consistent selection and quality of Coastal Seafoods. Pretty close to anything your heart might desire. The much larger space also accommodates more non-fish products including cheese, drinks, and sauces. Covid safety protocols were impeccable. The staff were all correctly wearing masks, the registers were behind plexiglass barriers, masks were required for customers, and they checked our temperatures before allowing entry. I'm so impressed with this upgrade!*** Best place in the Cities to get a big selection of sushi grade fish. today was my first time coming here! During covid you need to wait in car and someone would come out and take order for you and bring it out. Glad they are really precautious about this. Service was great! I went on fish day so it was 20% off. I got the farmed king salmon! Salmon was from New Zealand and it tasted perfect!!! My husband loved it! Definitely will come back again! Would recommend to anyone who loves fresh seafoods!! I used to buy salmon from Costco but it’s always a hit or miss. By far the best place to buy seafood in the state of MN (I’ve lived in many cities). Always super fresh, very high quality fish, and they also have other specialty meats like duck breast.
