Reviews of Book Club Restaurant
Kris K.
Delicious, fresh, scratch, comfort, friendly, ambiance... words I'd use to describe Book Club. We had skewers and the tofu to start. All were super tasty and highly recommend. We then had the broccoli mac and a fried chickend sandwich. The chicken sandwich was top notch. The mac was also fairly tasty.
Hanna Anderson
I have nothing to complain about. My fiancé and I shared both the fried tofu and both the steak and chicken kabobs. All were amazing. I had the Broccoli Mac and Cheese with added fried chicken. And my fiancé had the fried chicken sandwich with house made chips. Neither of us talked while eating. It met our expectations and we will be back. We went fairly late and it wasn’t busy at all.

Nice and friendly staff, but wasn’t impressed by the food whatsoever. I had a Bacon and Avocado Burger, which was typical at best, with uncooked “white” onions and stale house chips on the side. For a $15 burger, I’d absolutely prefer to go back to other local places such as Red Cow next time. My friends had the Rice Plate and Cobb Salad and felt better than I did. Overall, there is nothing I can point out that would make me excited to go back to Book Club. A mediocre American restaurant for times you forget to make a reservation well ahead of time at other nice places in Edina.

Excellent service, quality tasty food, excellent coffee. I suggest the bread pudding, deliciousness. Is not the classic latin bread pudding but it is nevertheless excellent, or it was to me, very very tasty. The drinks are good as well.

I enjoyed The Book Club for the first time this week. My Cobb salad was delicious and lighter than traditional Cobb salads. The salad dressing was a lemon vinaigrette that did not disappoint. Service was excellent! They have a nice selection of different bloody Marys. I had one made with Aquavit and their house made mix garnished with a pickle, olive and a small bite of a beef stick. My friend enjoyed the avocado burger. Fun inviting atmosphere with a large patio too.

Bartender Jess was fabulous! She was very friendly, had great recommendations and makes a killer espresso martini. Will definitely visit again. Highly recommend!
Heather K
Edit again: their happy hour is awesome! Get the steak skewers! Mac and cheese could use a bit more seasoning though.
Edit: I haven't visited this place since my last review, and it still did not disappoint. We didn't catch the bartenders name, but they were so kind and made our experience truly that much better. I love to try a little bit of everything, so they did their best to make it work for me and I was so pleased. We didn't realize they did last call for the kitchen already and the bartender went out of their way for us.
I can't say enough good things about this place. I love the vibe, service was great, they make a delicious dirty martini and if you're considering getting the grilled cheese with kimchi- don't hesitate and just order it. You will NOT regret it. This place is phenomenal and quaint in every way you'd expect a restaurant called Book Club to be.

I ordered (via 3rd party app) the half rosemary lemon chicken with mashed potatoes and the white corn polenta cake. The chicken was good and mostly deboned, the mashed potatoes were so good, but the polenta cake was too thick. It felt more like a “patty” because of the soft moist consistency and texture. I was expecting a more bread-like texture. It wasn’t bad but I wouldn’t order it again . Lots of gluten free options easily marked on the delivery menu. I will definitely be back to this restaurant.

Excellent service but a hit or miss menu. For the price, it’s a decent spot but you can probably skip it if you don’t like chicken.
The mock tails are way too sweet.

Great find: The host was very friendly, we had reservations, but running 15 late and they were very accommodating. The place is cozy and modern, very clean. OMG- They have a all day every day happy hour! The drinks were very good even though on a happy hour price. I had the Wheat Linguine, very good, light house made sauce and garlicky! My wife got the Salmon, she loved it. My buddy got the Bacon Burger and was huge and very good. Service was excellent, our waiter was very attentive. All staff that may have passed us, greeted us. They do have a 5% surcharge and we didn’t mind too much because 1) the surcharge was reasonable 2) the staff well earned it. Great atmosphere, great food, great drinks and great staff, what more can you ask for! Thank you all Book Club Restaurant for a wonderful dinner!!

I am writing this review because we had a much improved experience this past weekend. With that said, let's start off with some tips.
Regarding reservations, I looked on OpenTable and the Book Club didn't show up in the search results. I then went to their website and I was pleasantly surprised to see I could make a reservation. The reservation functionality was easy to use and took me a few seconds to find an opening.
Now let's talk about the most painful piece. Finding parking on a weekend can be challenging. The parking lot next to the Book Club is very difficult to get out of. You can barely see to your left and the street is very busy. In summary, it can be terrifying. Also, don't try to park on Penn Ave. There are multi-unit houses that park outside and an ACE Hardware store so you could end up a few blocks away. The tip is to park on the east side of Penn on 54th. The west side of 54th is jam packed by customers going to Colita. In addition, there is a secret parking lot across the street from Colita. The business using this parking lot is closed on the after 5pm Monday - Thursday and all day Friday - Sunday. In summary, leverage this tips and parking will be much easier.
It was a beautiful day so we decided to sit outside. Here is a new secret. The Book Club is using a large portion of the parking lot now for dining tables. This means they can take larger parties outside now. We sat out front near the railing. There is an updated happy hour menu with all kinds of appetizers and drinks. We started off with dirty martini and Pryes Pradmatic Pils (4.2% ABV). My wife accidentally forgot to ask for Greg Goose but when she tasted the martini she loved it. So whatever vodka they are using is quite tasty. Then I felt like a sandwich and the manager (or bar manager) recommended the Fried Chicken sandwich. I followed his advice and my wife ordered the 6 BBQ dry rub whole chicken wing (flat and drumette) with the white vinegar BBQ sauce. While we were waiting for our food, I saw a waitress bringing a fried chicken sandwich to a customer and my mouth dropped. It was gigantic! The food came out in less than 20 minutes. While I paused to come up a strategy on how to eat the huge sandwich, it was clear this sandwich deserved more than a beer. I then ordered the ruhbarb margarita (silver tequila, rhubarb syrup, fresh lime). Please notice they made a syrup from the rhubarb, not simple syrup. The fried chicken sandwich was cooked perfectly and the BBQ white vinegar didn't take the focus away from the chicken. So don't remove this the sauce because it enhances the overall sandwich. Please note this sandwich is the star so don't order anything else that will distract you from the main event. My wife was crazy about the wings. She said the wings tasted like a delicious BBQ flavored chip. She is a southerner so she is picky about anything claiming to be BBQ in Minnesota. Also, these are not small wings and could be a meal for one. My ruhbarb margarita arrived and I immediately took a sip through the straw. It was absolutely delightful. If your are like me, I hat overly sweetened margarita. The person behind this cocktail is a genius.
It is now time for me take eat a little humble pie. In the past, I thought the Book Club was average. I was wrong and we plan on walking down to the Book Club for many more dinners. We look forward to seeing soon.

A nice place to get your morning brew and a hearty breakfast sandwich.
I expected the space to be filled with books, but it is not. It's very spacious and has good outdoor seating.
Ted Schoen
Great food and a great vibe. Staff were very attentive and accommodating. I only wish we had been there when their updated drink menu was in effect. The cocktails we did get were delicious.
Thomas Carr
The fried chicken sandwich and avocado burger w/ bacon were phenomenal, as were the chips served alongside them. The server kept my drink full throughout the meal. I used Google Assistant to reserve a table and that also worked hassle-free.
Melissa M
The food was delicious. We had the roasted veggie sandwich and the veggie hash. The service was a bit slow (it wasn’t busy) which is why I gave it 4/5. Cute place, it was nice to sit outside.
Renae Petersen
Cute, unassuming, laid back with excellent food and drinks! I forgot to mention to our server we heard about it from MyTalk (get a free app or dessert) so we will need to go back! I got the red curry and hubby got the pork chop. Both delicious. GF options on menu and I think vegan as well.
Celestia
The Book Club restaurant was excellent! The best aspects of the place would be; the service, the food, and the atmosphere. Our waitress was lovely and attentive, exemplified outstanding service. The food was nothing exotic but still good, also the fruit, worth noting for me was fresh and sweet and did not include any melon (for once, thank you!) I'd also recommend the juice, not sure if it is fresh or not but certainly well made, organic, and "real." Lastly, if you take a look at the photos I took, you may see the atmosphere there was on point. It fit the theme of the restaurant perfectly and made the place feel welcoming and casual. An excellent place for brunch with the family.
jason abbott
Popular upscale eatery. Parking is free but limited. You can expect a high degree of customer service and a degree of professionalism among the staff. The seafood curry dish gets a special mention.
Sarz Hair
We often go in a large group. Book club is always very accommodating. Crispy tofu is great on anything. Good for brunch and dinner.
Jess Delicious Living
I ordered the seafood curry pasta without the broccolini because I’m highly sensitive to it. Another person at our table ordered the same thing. When it came out I asked which one was without the broccolini, they made a mistake and didn’t remove it. Of course they offered to make one on the fly without. Great! It came out 2 minutes later and it looked disheveled. The pasta was dry, when I think curry pasta I imagined it to be a thick sauce. This was not that. Also the seafood seemed old and there was only two small shrimp and 4 mussels in it. And after looking at it closer, there was still broccolini in it!! They just hand removed “most of it”. I was actually in shock that the kitchen would be so reckless. My sensitivity is not life threatening but it definitely sucks when ingested. Regardless, it could have been really serious had I been severely allergic.
Luckily management was very generous, apologized, comped my meal, drink and gave our table free dessert. The front of the house saved the back of the house from a really unfortunate mistake that may seem cavalier but could have been really damaging.

There are some really good, fun restaurants on 54th and Penn and Book Club might be my favorite. They have great patio seating and they are taking lots of great precautions to make everyone feel safe during the pandemic. Beyond these accommodations, the service is excellent. I’ve had a few different servers and they have been very attentive and friendly. They are also very knowledgeable of both the regular and drink menus and have been able to answer any questions that we’ve had.
The food menu isn’t that expansive, but I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. What they do have on the menu is delicious! Their fries are tremendous and so are their potato chips, you can’t go wrong with either. I’m a big fan of their burgers, but the chicken sandwich is what really has me coming back. It’s huge and absolutely delicious. Along with their burger and chicken sandwich, they also have some great vegetarian options. The tofu is worth trying out even if you’re a meat eater like myself! I definitely recommend this place for all people in the area!
Rachel Herr
Overall we really enjoyed our meal here! Nice drink menu with an amazing hibiscus margarita! Their food menu has so many choices and nothing disappointed. The fries could have been crispier (especially with the $2 upcharge) and the bread pudding was pretty eggy, but those are small complaints considering how good the meal was overall. Also, the service was phenomenal - would recommend checking out if you’re in the neighborhood!

Had a great lunch date with my aunt. Nice patio to enjoy the fall afternoon. The fried chicken sandwich was very good.
Banle Gaar
Came here during the "in between" lunch and dinner service. Was greeted by a foh manager and then sat at the bar, where the bartender promptly have his greeting and menus. There's a certain thrill of watching the industry, being raised by it but seeing it from the outside perspective as a random customer. I digress because if you haven't worked in it, you shouldn't know the secrets.
Had two different cocktails and sadly the complaints come from them. Bartender was fast and friendly enough, but the drinks were way too sweet. They overpowered the other flavors and left that sickly sweet taste in the mouth that luckily water was able to remedy. However the food, wonderful. The mussels dish is what I've been needing in my life for a long time. I could have a bowl of the sauce, a spoon and be in bliss. The bread pudding (made with croissants) was on point, especially if you like salty/savory.
Snow Farmer
Solid - eh...
Food was OK - bloody mary's were weak. It was all OK. But nothing that'd I'd recommend - not when places like the Ice House, Kenwood, Buttered Tin, and Hazlewood are around. And Red Wagon is across the street!
I didn't hate my experience but I won't be going back.
Also - huge miss on the name Bookclub. Where are the books? They have this huge Chalkboard - Recommend a book on the board! What book are you reading? I mean, lay into the theme a little bit.
Oh yea, and the Host was a grumpy dude. Oscar the Grouch would have been more hospitable.
Diane S
Interesting, unusual menu. I had Steak salad that was so very delicious. Smaller sized restaurant with bar, quiet. Look forward to going there again.
Brian Osweiler
We stopped in the afternoon and took advantage of the “afternoon delight” special, which was a bottle of wine and pesto flatbread for $25. It was a great deal for a decent flatbread and bottle. I’ll stop back for a full dinner soon.
Jillian Steinke
I think I showed up at a weird time because the poor bartender was trying to cover the while restaurant. Depsite that, she was still nice and helpful. Food was really good. Loved the bread pudding for dessert. Looks like they have some good happy hour specials.
MishaMPLS
It seems to me that they have lost a little ambiance in the switch from Cafe Maude. Not least of which is the fact that it’s now quite loud. Ambiance aside the food was excellent and we enjoyed ourselves a lot. The staff were quick, friendly, and helpful and the food was done well. I’ll definitely go back.

I've been here a few times and I've always had a wonderful experience. The service this time was slow but our waitress said it was because they were short staffed. Not a major issue to me but could be to some. I made a reservation online for 10:45 am on a Saturday. Not sure if you need one for just 3 people but would recommend for a larger party to make reservations. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting and makes it feel like a cozy neighborhood restaurant. I ordered the grilled cheese and cup of tomato soup and it was really good. They have a variety of options and would recommend checking this place out! There is a small parking lot next to the restaurant but plenty of street parking.
Mike Cook
We stopped in here with our pub passes and were very impressed! Excellent wait staff that were extremely friendly and talkative, good beer selections, and awesome food!
I got the mushroom burger and it was phenomenal. We also had the vanilla french toast and we will definitely be back! Be sure to check this place out if you're in the area!

We made an early reservation for brunch and were happy to arrive ahead of the crowd. Loved the atmosphere, the theme is so much fun, both the dining and drink menu were creative, and everyone was very helpful. The house salsa on the breakfast burrito was amazing, and the caramelized walnuts on the custard French toast was the perfect touch. My husband loved his mocha and I really enjoyed my latte. Looking forward to returning to this new neighborhood gem and enjoying a lunch or dinner entree and drink! Highly recommended!

The food was Very good and our waitress gets extra marks for being so sarcastic that I couldn't tell if she was joking or not. The only problems we had were with the amount of time it took to get our drinks and food. The restaurant didn't seem to be overly busy and it took 20 minutes to get our cocktails and at least 30 minutes to get our food. That said, the food and service really were great. Sorry for the photo of a 90% eaten steak. I was super hungry.

My friends and I stopped by for dinner and the location has a parking lot as well as lots of street parking to accommodate. The menu was fabulously themed with amazing selection of delicately prepared delicious food. We shared mussles in the green curry sauce recommended by our wonderful server Taylor, collection of vegetables from the margin section of the menu, crispy fried tofu with an amazing sauce and easily dipable into the mussles green curry sauce, the Mac and cheese, and linguini. We ended our meal with a rich and captivating flourless torte.

I first came to Book Club during peak dinner time on a warm Friday night and the place was packed inside and out. Thankfully I was still seated promptly and the server, while very busy, was welcoming and proactive. They have a good variety of local beers on draft and the food menu is essentially a bunch of classic favorites with little twists. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich, customized a little, and was sincerely impressed. I have since been back just to have drinks at the bar, the bartenders are wonderful. They really know their craft. I found this place thanks to pub pass and have really enjoyed the introduction!
Jim
My sister always finds these unique little restaurants. They really spoke highly ov this location. I admit the food was good. Plenty of unique names for dishes. Even virgin drinks for minors. One being the rubber ducky. We were there for Mother's Day/Family Birthday event.
Some feedback I would give. Music should be a compliment the atmosphere. Not be the atmosphere. Have the music play at a comfortable volume so that others can relax and enjoy it. Not shout over it or lean in hunched over to hear their group.
The lighting was relaxing and food was well done.

Came for dinner after randomly spotting this restaurant. So glad we did! It was a cozy place with fun decor and friendly staff! The food was also very good! We had the steak and chicken skewers to start and they both had great tasting marinades! We had the mushroom green bean bowl with salmon and the portion sizes were perfectly filling! Definitely looking forward to trying their breakfast next time!

Shared a nice dinner here with the wife and friends. A reservation was a must on a Friday night, all of the tables were full and most of the bar was (even though there is a good amount of bar space). Cocktails were enjoyed early on in the night: an interesting variation on an Old Fashioned and some gin-based drinks. We ordered the Mussels and Dumplings which were awesome (but we wanted more dumplings!), and they came with some sneaky spicy pepper slices. Main dishes ranged from the Red Snapper pasta, Turkey Leg confit, and Broccoli Mac n Cheese. I enjoyed the Mac n Cheese which I thought was excellent. It came in a baking dish to keep it warm throughout the meal, and it was one of those where I was scraping the bottom of the dish to get all the delicious cheese. Great meal and atmosphere, highly recommend.

We were excited for brunch and two of us got the sourdough french toast. It was sad. Two dollops of whipped cream and two piles of fruit compote plus the weakest, thinnest, blandest french toast I’ve ever had. Coffee was good and my wife’s burrito was good if unoriginal. Nice setting but way overpriced for the flavor and amount of food.

Delicious brunch on a sunny Sunday sitting on the patio. While the patio faces Penn Ave, the street noise wasn't distracting at that time of day. And the breakfast sandwich, with its from scratch biscuits as the bread, was really good. And with a cappuccino and after tip, was under $26 for just myself. A very good value for the price.
Chase Nelson
Book Club is a good place to grab a light lunch or dinner. The menu is fresh seasonal ingredients that blend together to form a concrete dish. It reminds me of home cooking, nothing out of the ordinary but all food you love.
Micalie Kempfert
Really fun spot for happy hour (their “afternoon delights” menu). Delicious food and good drink specials. Funky and fun decor!
Greg Garritty
Met my grown kids for lunch (brunch) on a Friday afternoon. We sat outside on the street-side patio. It was quite pleasant considering it was about 82° and quite sunny. The patio could have used a couple more umbrellas to provide some respite from the sun. We had two Cobb Salads, a Breakfast Sandwich and a Grilled Cheese Sandwich. Everyone liked their food just fine. The french fries were tasty. All in all, we had a nice experience.
JLC
Nice family atmosphere … food is ok - comfort. Salads are a bit overdressed. Good service.
John Weirick
Fun atmosphere and well-chosen decor. Vanilla custard French toast was rich and sweet, but not overwhelming. Goat cheese and herb potatoes with eggs, avocado, and fire-roasted tomato salsa was some of the best takes I’ve tasted of these typical breakfast plates. Coffee was over-roasted, so they could match the quality of food by partnering with one of the talented craft roasters in Twin Cities.
E Kiilu
Food tasted really good and the right portions. My 3yr old son really enjoyed the pan roasted snapper with the red curry noodles(he ate 2 plates). For dessert, they were out of pears for the poached pear and the bread pudding so we went with the banana split which was divine..super cute spot with delicious food AND they stand against hate, easy, sold.
Stephanie Uden
This restaurant was the perfect brunch place. My vanilla custard French toast and my friend's breakfast burrito was to die for. We shared bites throughout our entire meal. My friend also loved the fresh tasting bloody mary. We thought it was a cutely decorated restaurant with menu placemats. This is a must return to place in our future.
Note: We arrived before ten and as we were leaving it was getting busier so I would recommend reservations after that time.
Mary Swalla Holmes
We shared a wonderful lunch with friends. Super helpful wait staff, great menu and quiet enough to actually hear each other.
Ramona Jeffery
Comfortable seating, excellent wait staff, fun ambiance, GREAT food, decent prices. I had the hamburger, done medium rare.
Natalie J
Book club was pretty good. They had great happy hour deals on drinks and appetizers.
We had the chicken sandwich an vegetable flatbread. The chicken sandwich was well worth it. The flatbread was pretty good, nice flavor but the crust seemed a little underdone.
The service was 10/10. We were seated right away, the waitress was attentive and helpful. There was a mistake with our food but she went above and beyond to fix it.
Overall, I think it was a cute, aesthetic place, great service with some good food options and fun drinks. I’d visit again!
April Flesland
The interior is so cute. The menu with the book theme is perfect. I had the goddess salad and French fries with an aperol spritz. Everything was great. The fries were thin cut and crispy. I took a piece of the chocolate torte home. The slice was big and I was able to get two days worth.
Heidi Steffens
Went with a friend for dinner. Nice staff, comfortable environment, and good service. We each had tap beers, good selection. Ate the Korean skewers and the vegetables flatbread and added chicken. Finished off with carrot cake. All of the food was delicious and filling!
Barry R
Solid place with good food. Menu may be a bit sparce for picky eaters but they are very reasonable about letting you substitute if needed. Reasonable vegetarian/vegan options if that's your thing. Would definitely return.
Brigitte B
We came on a cool evening in early fall because we wanted a dog-friendly restaurant with good food -- Book Club was everything we wanted and more! Food was excellent. We had the fall sangria, rhubarb margarita, crispy tofu, roasted tomato soup, steak salad, and the mushroom grain bowl with salmon. Each plate was perfectly cooked, beautifully plated, and absolutely delicious. Some restaurants are dog-tolerant, but not Book Club. They have homemade treats for dogs and brought out a water dish. The service was prompt, warm, and tentative, without hovering.
Love this place! Great for a date night with your dog!

One of the best brunches I’ve had since goldroom. 😮💨 Me and my husband started off with the Mussels “chefs kiss” and I ordered a breakfast sandwich with bacon and he got the Fried Chicken with White BBQ sauce. Let me say that the sandwich was spectacular and the bbq sauce on the chicken was amazing it was so tender and juicy!! Please check out this place they also have daily happy hour from 2-6 ❤️
cakebaker B
A bit of a wait for the food today because of short staff. But food was worth it! Nice al fresco dining area. The one waitress hustled her butt off. Grilled cheese sandwich and chips were awesome 😎.

The BookClub has been a favorite of mine. Been over there a few times as it is close to my folks place. Had a date night recently, got there lobster Mac & cheese, delicious. Also had the bread pudding (2ed time best I've had) Sat at the bar with my girlfriend and chatted with the very cool bartender for a bit while on our second round of drinks. Will be back again for sure !
Amy Paape
Loved this place!! Awesome food-amazing service.
T
Every bite was delicious, service left nothing to be desired. Left full. Does cost a bit more but nothing unreasonable for what you get.
Morgan S
Cute place in a good location, they have a parking lot on the side which is a bonus. Service was extremely slow and parts of our order were completely forgotten. The veggie flatbread was really good and decently sized for being a starter.
Britt Murray
I adore this place. The food is fantastic and the book theme is adorable. I ordered the vegan green curry and it was amazing!
Lonnie G Lindstrom
Went on a Sunday after 7pm. For a beer and apps. May have been a little short handed. As things took a bit long. Service was great and food was tasty.
Lindsey McDermott
We went here a few times before the pandemic and loved it. We were able to return for Father's Day brunch. It was excellent. Really unique dishes and great coffee. Reasonably priced. Good service. Cute layout. My one feedback is that we sat next to the window and it was super dusty. I put my phone there, and it was covered in dust. Make sure to dust:)
Zack Anderson
Had the linguini with shrimp scampi, it was very good! Drinks were tasty, service was polite, a nice place to go eat.
Nicole Nyarko
Love this place! They have great cocktails and fresh, healthy food options. We'll be back!

Great food. Nice bar area. Friendly staff.

A great local spot to check out. Great staff and comfortable setting to have a drink

Great food, cocktails, and vibe. The staff is fantastic as well. Highly recommend checking it out.

We experienced 3 different dishes. They were all nicely prepared, presented and no one went home hungry. I'll go again!
Heather Kaiser
Favorite date-night spot for my husband and me. Just a walk from home, always great food and service. The salmon is my staple dish. Second place- the friend chicken sandwich. Great coffee. I wish they would return their old burger...the new one is good, but the original was amazing.
Emily Smith
Service was slow. Menu options were limited. Reservations aren't honored. Outdoor seating was available at social distance but they instead elected to restrict everyone to eating on one side of the Outdoor seating area. Everyone right up on top of each other. It didn't make any sense. Management seems to mismanage everything. And a bit messy.
Carolyn Wanken
This is my new FAVORITE restaurant. The staff is terrific and the ambiance is wonderful. Now...the food...where to begin. Every item we ordered was a delightful combination of flavors that married perfectly together. From the ceviche to the sweet potato bowl my mouth was dazzled. I can't wait to come back and try more items!
Cathy Kressin
The staff here is very friendly, and the restuarant lighting and decor itself is very tasteful. We ordered some very good cocktails from the bar that I had never had before. I ordered the salmon, which was like heaven on earth! The bottom had a wonderful crust on it, and the cook was perfect! My boyfriend got the muscles, which he said were the best he ever had! The seafood curry that he got was very flavorful! Perfect for a cold day! We had a great time here, and we are sure to be back soon!
Austin Roberts
Very nice interior, with a decent bar top, and a nice patio. Server was competent and pleasant. Soup was a potato soup with bacon and leek, and was thick and quite tasty- but much more suited for a late fall or winter day, than a mid June lunch. However, the Fried Chicken Sandwich was perfectly fantastic! Light, fluffy chicken breast on a pretzel bun for the win! Sauce that was on it was awesome too. Highly recommend it. Wish I could've got ice in my water (even just once), but then again, I didn't specifically ask for it. Price was on the higher side of lunch avg, but I think the quality of the food honestly matched it. Will come again!
Christian Andrade
Very cozy and warm environment. Menu had interesting flavor combinations. Tried the steak and it was nicely done. The rest of the people in my party ordered the ribeye and the shrimp curry which they all enjoyed. The only reason it wasn't a 5 star for me was due to the slow service.
Jessica Teppo
Great brunch food and drinks. Had Black Bean Huevos w/ chorizo. Bloody Mary. Friend had Breakfast Bowl add Fried Chicken and Mimosa. Everything was delicious. I wish they had a less hoppy beer back for the bloody but that's about it. It took 30 minutes to get our drinks and another 30 for food. Just as we were getting crabby (our server was slammed, the whole place was) our server brought us a pitcher of water and a whole carafe of coffee. No attitude when we needed more cream, etc. She made our long wait as pleasant as it could be.
*Not generally that type of wait. But thought they handled it well.
Joel Swanson
The atmosphere for drinks and a snack was great. Unfortunately on the day I was there only 1 person was serving wveryone so it took me about 20 minutes to get my first drink.
Jan Sandberg
We had an excellent dinner last night--large portions, fresh ingredients, well flavored and cooked. Dining inside felt very safe but for those who prefer eating at home, they seemed to have a very active take out setup.
Lesly McLaughlin
I took a friend to Book Club for a birthday lunch. There were nice and varied selections to choose from on the menu. We were pleased with our choices. Both selections came with a side salad that was made from the freshest greens ever. Dressed with fried shallots and a delicious dressing. Our waiter served my friend a complimentary birthday dessert of her choice with two forks for sharing. The dessert was coffee ice cream topped w/ salted caramel sauce and a half dozen donut holes that had just come out of the fryer. Absolutely divine!
Our waiter was very pleasant and efficient. We will definitely return.
Alec Dorenkamp
The portabella mushroom-steak burger (1/3 mushroom, 2/3 steak) was incredibly delicious and tender, and the pesto on it was a unique and smart addition for a burger. They have a medium sized and well balanced tap list(12 beers/ciders), plus cans and bottles, and the atmosphere is relaxing with a good number of tables. There was unobtrusive music playing through speakers at a comfortably low volume. This was a good place to sit in a corner reading and working for the afternoon. My waitress was pleasant and attentive, without being bothersome. Overall, I enjoyed this place. To everyone involved, nice job!
Sandrine Hedrick
Service was super slow but food was good. Just had the salad and soup so I cant really say much about their menu
Nilesh Naik
Great place for brunch and hanging out. The service and food was great.
Brenna
James Beard blended burger is excellent, the fries were great, and the blackberry Cosmo was lovely. Service and staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the restaurant itself is cute. There were at least a half dozen menu items that were really interesting, so we will be back!
Cassandra Scott
My husband and I tried Book Club today after seeing it was open. We really enjoyed the ambiance. It was fun but not overly casual. Our waiter, Mike, was ideal. He was attentive but not overbearing.
The best part of our meal was the cocktail I ordered. I got a Good Morning Sunshine which includes bourbon, lemon juice, and honey syrup. My husband tried it and ordered one for himself.
Unfortunately, our food was the let down. My husband got the French toast, and I ordered the pancakes with a side of sausage. The best I can say about any of our food was that it was hot when it came to us. Otherwise, it was generic.
We'll try brunch there again and order savory options (I had serious breakfast envy when I saw a women's eggs Benedict), but this morning's brunch was a little disappointing.
Kim Hodson
The restaurant was a nice change from the fast food that we usually eat 😋
Kathryn Baker
Ok, I have to start out with the food. It's really good. I got the rice curry bowl, my husband got the chicken, my dad got the seafood curry, and my mom got a different kind of chicken. It was all PHENOMENAL. My husband and dad got the bread pudding as dessert However, every single drink I tried was horrible. After trying two of the drinks, I returned one because no one at the table could drink it. Then I ordered a tequila sunrise and it tasted like Robitussin. My mom ordered a Brandy Alexander and couldn't even finish it. The waitress was very dismissive, although it could have been because it was busy. But she was in the back, assuming the kitchen, most of the time we were there. I recommend going here for the food, hands down it was awesome. The drinks... no thank you.
Sean T
Bloody was spicy and tasty. Enjoyed my Eggs Benedict. Eggs were cooked perfectly. I had chips on the side and thought those were good as well. Wife thought the black bean dish was decent. Service felt a little slow. Mostly good experience. I would return.
Jessica Rockswold
This is my favorite place to go to happy hour. They have craft cocktails for reasonable prices and a lot of small plate things that are delicious. Get the tofu skewers even if you aren't a tofu person--they are so yummy! The atmosphere is also really nice and cozy and service is always great.
Leslie Kinsman
Book club came through with a really great curbside brunch on the coldest day of the year. Not only were the flavors and textures good, but the eggs were beautifully cooked AND still warm when they got home. thank you!
Greg Ranallo
An eclectic menu, I chose between roasted chicken and seafood curry. The curry was great. Craft cocktails and a good wine and beer selection. We shared a flourless chocolate tort and a carrot cake for dessert, both were generous and delicious. No one at our table was disappointed by the food or the service.
Scott Christensen
Excellent food and fantastic staff in a tranquil atmosphere. The salmon bowl and breakfast burrito are wonderful - chefs and staff will keep us coming back
Colin Dunn
Tried their breakfast burrito with tofu and it was quite good. The high point was the charred tomato salsa! Not spicy, but very tasty.
The space is cute and contains a full bar. They also serve B&W coffee, an excellent local roaster. In short, a cozy place to grab brunch.
Karen Kane
Was very delicious! the bread pudding was probably the best dessert there. The ribeye was to die for. We were a party of six and all got a few different things and tried each others foods. The mac and cheese is amazing too. As is the fried chicken sandwich. Can't go wrong when you stop in to eat there.
Matt P
Neighborhood place that has pretty good food.Bacon avocado burger was a bit messy but good. Nice potato area and friendly staff.
Aaron Cohen
We always love eating here, the chef is absolutely fantastic. We've never had a bad dish. The green goddess dressing is great, the panna cotta is phenomenal. Looking forward to visiting again.
sophia olson
All of the food was absolutely amazing, and I'm not one to make the effort to rate restaurants. The burger was juicy and flavorful, the green curry mussels we're sweet with a small spicy kick at the end. And desserts - the chocolate torte was rich but not too rich and mixed well with the raspberry cream. AMAZING! thank you chefs.
Angela Garcia
The Book Club is a gem. Everyone is quite welcoming and gives excellent advice on what to try. The happy hour selection is amazing. Not the regular stripped down HH offerings.
Emma
I've been here a couple times now. The drinks are very good as is the food but the service always feels a little slow even when it's not very busy. I would recommend this place though if you are in the area and looking for a nice drink and a bite to eat. It's also in a good location near a few other small shops and restaurants.
Nathan Kreps
We had the veggie burrito and shrimp and mussels pasta. The burrito was amazing! It was made with a pumpkin seed mole that was unique and blended perfectly. The pasta was good as well. Easy curbside pickup and friendly staff.
Allie Hoffmeister
Good but not outstanding. Went for brunch and had the egg & bacon banh mi with french fries. Tasty but nothing amazing. My husband got the breakfast burrito. Once again, good but not amazing. The cocktails were really good! Got the Good Morning Sunshine and Prairie Dog. Super nummy. We experienced slow service and it wasn't that busy. The server was nice though. I would be interested in going back to try lunch or dinner and another cocktail.
Katie G
Love this place! We ate here while visiting some friends in Minneapolis and had a great time! The menu is super unique and there’s great drink options. We had the deep fried cauliflower burrito and their special of the day which was a Gouda Mac and cheese. The burrito was one of the best burritos I’ve ever had! Highly recommend!
Ryan P
The decor inside this place is great, very cool and pretty unique. Tried some of the small plates, the egg plant salad was pretty good. Nice selection of beers, a few good local options including Able. Server was nice and attentive. Wasn't wowed by the front patio. Definitely worth a try.
Kevin Coonan, MD
Great neighborhood restaurant with a limited but tasty menu.
As is the rule for most of the neighborhood, well behaved large dogs are welcome on the patio.
It is wonderful to have four decent local restaurants right on the same corner, and only four blocks south of an intersection that has at least four more local restaurants.
Southwest Minneapolis is truly a great place to live. Lots of great places to go in walking distance of each other, Minnehaha Creek, Lake Harriet, and even more places to eat down on Bryant and 50th.
Dustin Hoffmeister
Went for brunch on a Saturday afternoon. I had the breakfast burrito and the morning sunshine cocktail. The burrito was good, but a little boring. The cocktail was very tasty. It was pretty slow when we went, however, the service was also a little slow, but they were all friendly. There were a number of interesting sounding things on the menu, so I'll definitely return.
BIG BOOM 2077
Tasty vittles & NICE Happy hour drink specials. I'll be back.
Hans Loven
More of a soft, aspirational 4 stars here... That is, the menu is quite a nice departure from the norm, but a number of little things need improvement. 1: 3x too much salt on the fries--wow! 2: the wait was very long despite it being only moderately busy. 3: of our 6 menu items, a 50/50 blend of very good items, and then rather disappointing ones. For example, I was excited to try the fried cauliflower burrito, bad highly disappointed at how basic and bland it was. Hoping they can pick up their game--nice folks, interesting menu, and a nice casual vibe--oh and nice restrooms.
burcin ozel
Delicious! 3 of us shared the arugula, chickpea and eggplant salad as an appetizer which was terrific. I then had the rice bowl which was also delicious. I appreciated that they had several things that could be made vegan with just slight alteration. I also appreciated that they added a small surcharge so that they could help offer healthcare benefits to their staff without full time hours. We'll be back!
Roshan Rajkumar
First time guests. Mike was an amazing host, server and bartender. The Valentine's Day dinner for 2 was fantastic for the $85 price - amazing Caprese Salad w/ orange vinaigrette, entree of 18 oz. Bone-In Ribeye w/ amazing mashed potatoes and broccolini, and flourless chocolate torte. The wine pairing of $30 for three large glasses was a stunning offering - great Rose, Cab-Sav, and dessert Cognac. Plus kid's steak frites was tasty and perfect size. Mike calling up ice cream sundae for our 23-month old was super save. Great, easy-going atmosphere, solid Pandora Business Playlist, and free parking. Loved our early Valentine's Day dinner. Thank you.
Josh Weinzettel
Wife and I stopped here for a weekday lunch. Got in and out in an hour and sat on the patio. We had great service and a great meal. The award winning burger lived up to the hype. Value was just right. Good little spot.
Molly Nicholson
Great food and atmosphere. But the stand out for me is their amazing happy hour food choices and prices! I mean, who does happy hour 7 days a week? Book Club, that's who! Their fries with tarragon aioli is just fabulous!
Nicole Kasperbauer
Adorable servers and great happy hour. Their house wine was delicious and food presentation was very classy. The restaurant atmosphere was quiet and cozy, would definitely go back! Easy to park on the street as well.
S M
We were there after 8 pm on a Saturday and it wasn't busy. They seem to be taking proper covid precautions and had plenty of outdoor seating. Both of us ordered the sea bass and thought it was overcooked and tough, so wasn't a big fan for the price point. Great little area though.
C DaCruz
Super good loved the rice bowl, very nice staff too
Donna Garland
Really fun, local neighborhood gem. My personal fav is the seasonal burrito. It's always delicious. Nice patio when weather allows. Super cool vibe indoors. Staff is very friendly and nice. Love dining here.
Christopher Vang
Our waitress was amazing, the food was fabulous, (I had the Rice Bowl), and the locations is easy to find. The look of the entire place is aesthetically pleasing and would be a great spot for a photo shoot! I would definitely go there again for a casual meal!
Daniel Balto
This restaurant was the perfect brunch place. I had vanilla custard French toast and my gf's breakfast burrito was amazing. We shared bites throughout our entire meal. It was a well decorated restaurant with menu placemats. This is a must return for brunch, maybe we will try it for other meals. Great flavor, food portions, and value.
David Wilson
Ambiance is a 4. Unfortunately food is just a 2.
Elizabeth Mo
Awesome place for a date, we're already planning on going back for brunch. Salmon was delicious and the chicken was surprisingly spicy but nothing Minnesotan mouths can't handle. I'd recommend getting the fudge torte and bread pudding desserts, then eating them combined; it was amazing for cutting through the richness of the torte and adding heft to the bread pudding. I'm also a huge fan of the pepper aioli with the broccolini and red potatoes
Elizabeth Heikkila
We came for Easter brunch and absolutely LOVED it!! We couldn’t stop raving about it on the way home. Everything was super fresh and flavorful - we could tell the cooks were well trained. Our waiter was super genuine as well, nothing “fakey” about him, just great wait staff! Can’t wait to return
Scott Manley
I would summarize Book Club as: "it's not terrible, it's just nothing special, either". I was pretty disappointed by the quality of the food for the money after hearing many reviews and seeing very tempting pictures. I felt legitimately underwhelmed by the $12 fried chicken sandwich -- it was bland and the bun tasted cheap and was far too soft. The broccolini tasted far too acidic with its lemon dressing. The fries, however, were pretty good. The service was also good and I felt bad for the waitstaff, but I can't see myself ever returning. My friend had the porchetta and was also unimpressed. It was pretty quiet on a Saturday evening, while Red Wagon across the street was packed. I think that tells you what you need to know.
Samia Ali
Best restaurant ever! My kids and I visited here for our first time and fell in love. There are books available to read while you wait for your food and the staff are just awesome, I will visit again for sure. Great for kids and adult readers and they have the most adorable menu, I just love it.
Ann Fagerlind
We ate at the Book Club Restaurant Friday night. It was busy but our service was great. Had the red snapper and the rice bowl which were awesome. We also had the cauliflower chimichanga for an appetizer which was soooo good! My daughter insisted on the chocolate cake with raspberry for dessert..... ridiculously good! We will be back again soon!!
Christi Anderson
We’ve been going to this place since it’s opened and for years prior.
Food is good but menu is small. The lower rating is due to several factors that remain consistent and not based off 1 or 2 visits:
(1) In a small group of 3 to 5 for brunch, our food is never served at the same time; it is not uncommon for half of our party to be nearly finished with their meal by the time the other half of the plates come out.
(2) Service is slow; regardless of day or time. Frequently have waited over 5 minutes at the bar before acknowledgement.
(3) There’s always something floating in the water.
(4) The mimosas are too small. When your tab is easily $60+ (for 2), you’d expect the mimosas to AT LEAST go up to the belly of the glass.
With that said - the food is awesome! Mussels are delicious! Vanilla bean French toast is amazing. Best heuvos rancheros in the hood!
They have a lot going for them. Service is lacking, but easily fixable. We’ll continue to support them but it’s no longer our first choice.
Ras Kafka
This was a great surprise. The previous place was good if you were sitting at the bar and just ordering happy hour apps. But the few times that we went for meals, service was slow, usually one order would either be mixed up in some way or simply wasn't put in at all. The dishes were tasty enough, but usually too small.
So it has taken us a bit to finally get to Book Club, but it won't take long to get back. First, we noticed that it was understaffed for the full patio and half full house that they had. Despite the obvious madness these guys were going through, we did get seated in a reasonable amount of time. But I was still nervous, because under these circumstances, delays and mix-ups are expected. But no, these guys rocked it! I ordered a beer from the unattended bar and we ordered an appetizer of Balinese chicken thigh skewers. Both came in a timely manner and the skewers were amazing! They are mini skewers, so you may need an order per person. For entrees, we each ordered rice bowls. One bowl with shrimp and one with Korean rib meat with the special request of no slaw. We were not trying to throw anybody off, but an order like that is easy to mix up. But again, these guys nailed it! Meals came right after the appetizer with no mix-ups. These are not your regular rice bowls, but instead are an assortment of ingredients that compliment each other perfectly.
Things were so perfect, that we went for a banana split with capachinos. And that was the capper for a great meal. We went out last minute thinking we would finally try the newer place, not having any idea even what they offered and ended up having the best casual dinner that we have had in quite a while.
Leslie Hagner
Great food and modern atmosphere. We went for Sunday brunch and the service was very slow, but the staff was attentive. The drinks were delicious, but also very small. Will definitely be back for dinner!
Theresa Micallef
We visited Book Club while visiting Minneapolis for a wedding and absolutely loved it! I had the avocado toast and granola bowl, my husband had the classic breakfast, and all of it was delicious! Friendly service and great coffee, too. Highly recommend.
Danielle Zhu
So happy I visited, and will definitely be back. The atmosphere is comfortable (I arrived 40 minutes before the rest of my party and my server never made me feel pressured or awkward about it), the food is incredible (*highly* recommend the brunch rice bowl and carrot cake!), and the place is so darn cute!
Ted Kobold
Server was cheerful and sincere, seemed to really enjoy her job. Met the chef's, also, seemed genuine, skilled and welcoming. Food was easily 5 stars and so was the staff and atmosphere. Thanks for a great evening.
Alex Karpicke
We’ve been to Book Club twice now. The first time Was for HH. Service was great, food was quality, drinks were well made. Last night we stopped in for coffee and drinks. Bartenders gave great service and made excellent drinks. Coffee service, also quality. Highly recommend Book Club.
Tina Hamilton
Awesome place! Great people! The brews were excellent and staff is very knowledgeable at what they serve👍 …
Beril Ozay
Great food and service. Large patio area for seating.
Therese Linderholm
Loved it! There is all the right food here! I had delicious chicken, mash potatoes, green beens with capers and a lemon sauce. Really great comfort food. It is loud here so perhaps a late dinner or lunch if you dont want to lean in to hear the person accross the table.
Madison Holmes
Excellent food and drinks paired with friendly service. Fantastic addition to the neighborhood. I'm currently working my way through the happy hour cocktail menu and haven't found a single thing I don't like.
Michael Metzler
We've dined here many times and have always been happy about the choice. Great staff and great food. Full bar. Patio.
Keenan Olson
I hesitated to review Book Club because I want it to stay my neighborhood secret. I love this place for brunch. There is somehow NEVER a wait and there is even a huge patio so you can bring your dog! Wonderful tap list and cocktails. I have to be completely honest and say I liked it slightly more when it was Cafe Maude, but it was probably because they had Victory Prima Pils on tap. A rare find in MN. Its pretty adorable now with the succulent wall and the dope wallpaper. This place is great.
Anne Morris
Great food, wonderful service and beautiful atmosphere
Dana Habeck
It was a little spendy but the lentil bowl that I had was amazingly good and so much chicken I couldn't finish it. Two other people who saw what I was eating asked what it was and ordered the same thing. Yes it was just that good
J P
First time visit on a Saturday and we really enjoyed the menu, the happy hour specials and the laid back atmosphere. Our server was excellent, he knew the menu and could explain the latest tap beer selections.
Doug Thomson
I liked Cafe Maude (especially the original version) but Book Club is a fine update & replacement, a little brighter and more open, with more Asian influence in the food. Love the Balinese chicken skewers and the burger. Looking forward to trying more of the menu soon!
sharleen stueland
Food was great! Servers were friendly. Acoustics are pretty bad, conversation was difficult without shouting.
Elizabeth Tessmann
Food & drinks were delicious, I was in a group of five and we all agreed out entrees were great. Our server, Mike, was attentive, easy going, and provided great recommendations. Definitely will be returning!!
Maria Linn-Evans
Cozy atmosphere and a large selection of food options to choose from. We had an appetizer, drinks, and sandwiches which were all well made and tasty. Nothing was especially unique, but it was an enjoyable experience.
Abby Fleck
Wonderful atmosphere and delicious food! They have a great beer selection and tasty cocktails. I've enjoyed their brunch and their dinner. I would highly recommend!
Cindy Lehner-Smith
Server was fabulous! She said she was newish but would not have known had she not said. Squash soup was amazing. The rest of the table said too salty or VERY garlicky for their meals.
Shona Mackenzie
Delicious! We caught the tail end of happy hour, yay for cheap delicious cocktails and apps. I had the steak salad and the hubs had the fried chicken sandwich. It was fantastic!
Barbara G
The atmosphere is cozy and modern. We enjoyed the $5 Happy Hour specials. Our waitress was very friendly and amplified our pleasant experience.
Riss Widseth
They remembered a drink I had there two years ago! Wonderful staff and menu. Love getting drinks here.
Sam Flood
After picking Sammy up from the airport, we swung by for a light dinner and to use another Passport drink deal. Luck for us, we arrived during HH, so we snacked on the skewers and fries while we sipped on the house sparkling wine. Everything tasted great and service was good, but wish the place played up the “book club” name a bit more.
Emily Kruger
Had a lovely experience at Book Club. The food was wonderful and staff was very friendly. I would highly recommend!
Julie Stoltman
FANTASTIC! Had heard good things, so decided to do my birthday lunch with a friend there.
Loved it! Great atmosphere, excellent service, delicious food!
I'll definitely be back!!
Angela Horn
Great food.. reasonably priced..
Service was a little slow...
Will be back again...
John Alseth
Best old fashioned I've had in years.
Kelly Taylor
Terrific service, tasty fresh menu selections and a quiet place with it's own parking lot - a bonus in fine, city-dining fare!
Toni Hansen
A our food was very flavorful. The curry mussels app was so good. Needed bread or something as there was no need to let that sauce go to wast..
Christian Ankrum
Had the steak sandwich, it was their special and was fantastic. Great wallpaper! The cocktail menu is very intriguing and I'll come back some time soon.
Jen Einck
Amazing atmosphere , food and drinks were excellent , and the staff was extraordinary. I look forward to visiting again soon!
David Nelson
Good atmosphere. Tried their chicken sandwich. Just Ok. Very hard to eat.
Sarah Rostance
Same layout as Cafe Maude, same clientele, same dull service. Good food, fair beer selection. A place that calls itself Book Club should have more emphasis on books, a cocktail called The Hemingway, or an small plate appetizer involving Eugene O'Neill, pictures of award winning novels on the walls, not trees. Which oddly is where we get paper, there is irony on there somewhere. What comes to mind in the transition from Cafe Maude to Book Club is this "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet."
jesse james johnson
Book club offered a great vegan Curry for the twin cities vegan chef challenge! I'd definitely be back and hope they do some easy vegan modifications to existing menu items.
Nick
Great food and even better drinks. When they are busy it gets pretty loud in there. it can be a little hard to hear everyone across the table at times.
Pita Loopa
Fantastic experience every time we go. Service and food are delightful. Date nights for us are few and far between, and we choose Book Club pretty often.
Steve Youngblood
I had an excellent breakfast bowl with crispy tofu. It was excellent and the service was spot on.
Mike Garrity
Lovely pre-Valentines dinner!
Max Norton
So I’m a burger guy and I have ketchup with almost every burger I eat. Anyways, ordered the burger, comes without ketchup, I ordered ketchup, ate a bite while I waited. Finished the burger without any ketchup. If I could run into the kitchen and hold down the chef and scream I LOVE THIS BURGER in his face I would but security is pretty tight.
Annette Larson
We enjoy their afternoon delights (aka happy hour) menu as it has a selection of apps that are unique and affordable...a good way to try something different. We have always had good service, too.
Abigail Affeldt
Quaint, cozy, and the perfect brunch joint. Solid cocktail menu and good food. Great vegetarian/vegan/gluten free options.
Jeffrey Hall
American diner food with a twist. Wasn't terribly impressed with either options we ordered. The soup was delicious, but the food didn't make me want to go back.
Ole Johnson
Best chicken sandwich ever! The steak satay is amazing. If you like curry the red sanpper is awesome and try the mussels!
Tony Ghilani
Awesome breakfast joint. The Bloody Mary was great and the breakfast sandwich was simple but impressive. Staff was inviting and made it a great experience.
LeMar G
Fantastic neighborhood restaurant. Great for anytime. Food was a little slow coming out but was worth the wait
Jesse Bochniak
We went on a busy Friday evening, so as expected, service was a bit slow. Bar was running behind but food seemed to arrived in decent time. Food was a bit bland. Dessert was tasty.
Wade Forpahl
10/10. Would give a higher rating if I could. Food was phenomenal and the environment was full of energy. Service was great too! I will be returning for sure!
Veronica Walther
We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit here and I'm sure we'll be back. Food was great, drinks were on point. There's something for everyone at Book Club.
Rob Schweitzer
It was a last minute stop given a restaurant nearby could seat 6 of us together. Wound up having a great time and had wonderful meals.
Anthony Englund
Get a seat for happy hour and prepare to be yummed. Unreal value. The Fresno peppers used in the steak satay make me want to come back in like 1 hour...
Jeremy W
Good service, diverse but smaller menu. Ok beer list. Carrot cake was sub par, well below the quality of everything else.
Isadora felling
Great food and I loved the patio experience. The service was excellent and I appreciate the social distance rules in place to keep everyone safe.
Robert Salazar
Ok, this is my neighborhood spot for cocktails. These guys know how to make a bomb drink. The food is also delicious, but it is pricey. Go for breakfast and try their kickass breakfast burrito!
Brandy Churchill
Lovely mocktails, nice variety for both vegetarian and meat-eating folks, and good service. Great patio in the warmer months.
Lance Saldanha
Big fan. Visited here with the family and enjoyed ourselves. Had their burger which was great and their bread pudding is a must!
Jodi Williams
The food was really tasty but cold. Go for the Huevos! I was there for brunch and it was busy, but not very busy. I’ll give it a go again, hoping that’s a one off.
rita thoma
Ate on the patio so my dog could be with me. Great staff and good food.
j Stewart
It was a nice place for brunch with good Bloody Mary's and a good variety of food choices for everyone including vegetarian and vegan meals.
Sam Hasler
Food is very good. Service was pretty slow. Not like inattentively slow but “we’re slammed and understaffed” slow. Music should be louder. It was too quiet in there.
Nicole Hart
Happy hour selections were delicious and reasonably priced. Interior is a nice place to unwind and hang out. Loved it!
Lauren Ash
Vegetarian heaven!!! Tofu is out of this world
Matt Skaggs
Good food, great staff! Loved the theme of books on the menu!
Tanya Knippen
Excellent food, great bread pudding. Good service & nice & clean.
Kimberly Evans
Food would have been so much better if it had been warm. Waited an hour for our dinner. No apologies or compensation for tardiness and cold food 🙁 …
Andy Stearney
The space is very nice, service friendly and efficient. Of the two entrees tried, I found the food to be a little bland, but it was well prepared and nicely plated
Jacob Hausauer
Great food. Super fresh Hash browns. You will need a reservation on the weekend if you want a table.
Stacy Welle
Great pancakes and bloody Mary's! You must try a pancake if you go for brunch! I was disappointed that there was not more of a themed atmosphere.
John Honsa
Good Benedict. Full bar and good craft beer list. Parking lot and close street parking. Nice outdoor patio.
Emily Anderson
Food great, service excellent, but for a place called Book Club, they could have a few more books sitting around. I saw like 8 Reader's Digest condensed books and that was it.
Mac H
Amazing food, just don’t expect to be welcomed into the space. Not very friendly staff.
Susan Braun
Watching the bartenders work was one of the coolest experiences, they were super involved in my meal and at times gave me small tastes of drinks for free.
Chaunce Stanton
I'll definitely be back! Great selection of non-alcoholic drinks. And the food was delicious - both main courses and the starters.
Daniel Randolph
Excellent food. I have never had anything here that wasn't fantastic. This is one of those rare places that always delivers excellence.
Mary Tierney
3 of us went for happy hour. The food was delicious. The atmosphere nice, and service was great.
Anil J. Reddy
This could be my neighborhood corner bar. And the staff treat me as such: always a friendly, welcoming venue to have a drink with a neighbor.
Roop Bassi
Wow, their happy hour 👌. Little far from where I live, but a great date spot. Definitely would take a girl I liked here, haha 😂 …
James Lies
Great food and GREAT service! We were driven inside by a rain downpour and the fine folks at Book Club handled things perfectly.
Nori Miller
Absolutely amazing restaurant even has. Library books but I enjoyed the food and fancy automosphere n friendly service.
Erik O'Leary
Good space and friendly service, food is a bit bland though and coffee was served so hot the milk curdles
Jaki Kotlark
The food was very good and there were a lot of great cocktails too. The service was also very friendly.
holly nyoki
Wonderful food and service. Atmosphere was missed opportunity to embrace book club theme but still very nice.
anne doud
Good food, but out of hot chai, and server was not helpful or attentive.
Colin Wiesner
Big plates and oversized margs
Greg Barnell
Good service. Somewhat narrow menu. Limited wine selection. Good neighborhood restaurant but not a destination spot.
Cigar Gal
Amazing food, amazing vibe, super cozy, succulents in the lamps right above your head, there really is a book club, and love whatever fish they serve daily.
Laurie Jirak
Loved it! Great drinks, service and food. Beautiful to be outside.
Mark Norris
Great staff, amazing food REASONABLY priced. Not a lot of parking and a bit noisy for ian ntimate date. Otherwise GO THERE!
D. S.
Visited for the first time today. Friendly staff, great happy hour, good food. Will definitely return.
Shawn M
Tiffani"s service was Excellent!! Food was great! Patio is perfect. I had Chopped CA Salad and it was great, shrimp was fabulous
Kelci Bruno
Decent beer list, I didn't have any food but it definitely looked good
Samantha Bild
Red coconut seafood curry and Korean steak skewers are a must. Flavors on point.
Josh Raymond
Very eclectic place. Terrible wall paper made it hard to focus on anything else. The only thing worse was the bar service.
Emily Winters
Cool atmosphere, food was good but not great. The curry could have used a lot more broth.
Jay Lammers
Very flavorful and delightful food. Their cocktails are topnotch as well.
Krystal Caron
Love the decor! Easy, fun place to grab dinner.
Ethan Marshall
A handful of great dishes, but nothing especially creative or unique. Service is pretty great! Nothing to write home about.
paul hamann
Food and cocktails very, very good. Needs to get more friendly wine pricing options.
Kate Quirk
Got the rice bowl... good but very small. Waitress was excellent.
David Paez
Great service and great food. Latte was bit bland.
James Henderson

Loved the bread pudding here! Like a French toast that got dressed up for a fancy party. Coffee was perfect. I always hate when chicken sandwiches are too thick but the one here is crispy and just the right thickness. I haven't even eaten the Cobb salad I brought home yet but it looks beautiful. Great service and a nice atmosphere. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options labeled on the menu.
