I tried this place today. I tried the fried chicken. It was decent for fried chicken. My only complaint is it was a little salty for my taste. Not bad overall. I really liked the hot sauce. Also got a piece of the 7up pound cake. Not as good as my Aunt Pearl's but nobody makes it like that. My uncle proposed to her because of that cake.

Excellent customer service. Reasonable amount of food/prices. Crust on fish was a little too hard. I'm going to try again though to make sure it wasn't just a one time thing with the crust because there was excellent customer service.

Simple awesome. Everything is served perfect hot and this is unbelievable. After a long wait I found a place which serves everything hot and fresh. I ordered wings and fish combo and it was yum. I am definitely going to visit again. Staff is very friendly and prompt. Loved the service too.

I Love eating there. The staff is polite , it's clean inside of there .they also cook your food nice and fresh. You don't have to wait long at all. And the food is always nice and Delicious! I highly recommend this. Food joint!!

The catfish strips were awesome! I haven't had catfish in MN so that's saying something too. The hot sauce was yummy, not a fan of the cole slaw but I think it's because it sat for a bit in the hot styrofoam container. I will definitely be going back and make sure to order ahead of time.

I order a 3 item special. Didn't even know about the fries that was a surprise. The chicken was seasoned and crisp. The fish was yummy. i haven't ate catfish in 10 years or more but i ain't mad cause it was good. The shrimp was ok also for fast food place. They give a bunch of sauces and 2 pieces of white bread. Also a small cup of slaw, that i didn't try yet. I work 5 minutes away so I'll return. I enjoyed my dinner sitting on the bed watching Master Chef. I have enough left for lunch and dinner tomorrow. Plus a piece of Carmel cake.

First time, ordered 2 catfish strip meals, it was a lot of fish, at 6 or 7 strips, 6 piece chicken wings. The fish was decent but was missing something in the seasoning. The chicken wing definitely need more seasoning, we ordered plain. Not a fan of the fries, coleslaw was ok.

The food is amazing!! I had the steak burger and my husband got the catfish nuggets and the kids got chicken wings. We will definitely be back! The only thing is that tge Styrofoam containers melted a little bit from the heat of the food but the food was fine. I highly recommend this place and the workers were very nice and kind!

Generous portion of catfish, okra, and sweet potato pie that were absolutely delicious! Nuggets were deep fried but not greasy. They use a fine breading which complimented fish perfectly. Pieces were vey meaty and tasted fresh, fresh, fresh! Great job we’ll be back!

I just want to say I ordered a pretty large order for the fam. And it being my first time ordering from this place I went based off the photos. But let me tell you the food looked just like the picture and I received my entire order with not one error. And this was by far was the best fish and chicken I’ve had in the twin cities. Now this restaurant here I will travel all the way from Stillwater Minnesota just to eat their fish they have the best fresh hottest fish around I Love A & J Fish & Chicken they have a whole host of other menu items but my favorite is there hot fresh fish love it love it love it I have been a customer of A & J for years and no matter where I move I will make the trip to A & J when I want some hot fresh fish cooked to your order

So I been here since 2003 and I have also eaten here when I'm over south. I have never had an issue with my food and still til this day the same people work there. What I got was 2 four pc chicken dinners and and 2 calypsos... $25 PERIODT LOL.. I got like a breast,thigh and 2wings in each one with fries cole slaw and bread.... Now the thing is about 5 mins away kiddie corner from popeyes going towards Uptown,the guy in there will charge you $40 for a 2 4pc chicken tender dinners and 2 drinks.... GO FIGURE ON THAT ONE... HOOD FOOD PLACES A&J FISH AND CHICKEN SOUTH MINNEAPOLIS,THEY WILL GET YOU RIGHT😋😁

I've been eating at this place for years and I still love it. Some of the customers though are entirely rude. I usually always get the gyros I don't know how everything else is, but those are delicious. The price is reasonable as well and they do have a small sit-down eating area inside no bathroom though. They take cash or card. They also do delivery but I've never used that service.

Nothing like great fried food in a nearly dangerous environment. These guys know what their doing around a deep fryer. The fish and chicken are some of the best in the city. There's no shortage of criminal type people milling around the parking lot. I'm sure there's a handful of folks every night that make the drive only to stop short of pulling in for the cool city dining experience but the night i was there (sat) it was relatively safe. I knew we came to the right place when I got out of the car and was hit with the aroma of deep fried food mixed with reefer. I'll go again any time. I wouldn't recommend bringing the kids. The only thing that could make that any better is if they sold bottles of cold beer to wash all that good food down with.

Honestly I will say this place here 😃 is the best fried shrimp🍤 chicken 🍗 Burger 🍔 fries 🍟 gravy 😋 rice 🍚 steak 🥩 there are more food items to try that'd are definitely definitely delicious 😋 and customer service is completely compassionate 🙏🏼 for there paying customer's so I say truly go there for fresh tasty food 💯💯💯💯💯 employees will make you feel like family 🙏🏽

My friend and I went and ordered the chicken strips dinner and the chicken liver dinner. The chicken was really good - hot, fresh, and tender. Best chicken I've had in a while, coming from Bloomington where the 'best' chicken strips you'll find is at Perkin's. Friend and I joked about how it's ten times better than the Revival chicken joint (who doesn't season their chicken at all - yuck!) yet ten times cheaper. Absolutely worth the trip in my mind, I got a good meal and some leftovers. The chicken liver portion was very large too! My only complaint were the fries. They were unsalted and did not taste very fresh. This will not deter me from going again, though. Next time, I'll just try a different side other than the fries. Because the chicken is worth it to me!

Fried Chicken Wings! If you are on the go, want something to take home or are having a party and want whole fried chicken wings, this is the place to go. I called ahead and ordered for a group ordering 24 wings. When I arrived my order was ready to go. The wings were steaming hot, crunchy outside and meat was moist to the bone. They give you French fries and coleslaw with a wing order in addition to sauces and catsup. Fries are not crispy but a nice addition. Coleslaw provided was really a small portion (about a 2 tablespoons), so don't expect much. The group was very pleased and the wings went quickly. If you want fried chicken wing, hot, crispy and moist on the inside - call or stop by A & J Fish & Chicken! When it's all said and done it is all about the wings and if you like fried chicken wings this is the place.

Im from Chicago.. but ive been in Minnesota long time yet i still crave good Chicago worthy catfish. I rarely go to mpls for anything but i would anyday for this food! I called, first to make sure hours of operation matched online details, and was greeted by the owner, Jamal. Friendly freaking guy.. talked like I've always known him... great customer service and skill. We ordered alot! Catfish steaks, fried walleye ( my fav), okra, mushrooms, gyro plate, gyro sandwich, jumbo shrimp, chicken wings. No not one complaint from the fam. Not a 1. The walleye was pricey but its worth it! And they give big portions. I cannot wait to order this Italian beef... you know not just anyone can pull that off. Anyway it's great place. Try the walleye 😁

If you are from Chicago and get homesick this is the place to go. As soon as I walked in I felt like I was back in Chicago. It has that blue collar vibe when you walk in. I got an Italian beef with hot giardiniera and a pizza puff. I thought I was back on the west side of Chicago with the first bite. The staff was awesome. Definitely recommend this place to anyone. Good food and service order for delivery have not ate in but last 3 times food came to me cold, I understand they have only 1 to 2 delivery guys. But I suggest that they invest in purchasing 3 or 4 warning bags and not to let orders set or gather until they get 6 or 7 for delivery this is why I gave 3 stars.

The food is pretty good first off. But I would like to say that most of the employees are very rude. They never greet you, they rush you, and when they give you your order, when you say thank you, they don't say your welcome or have a nice day. When you ask for delivery, they take a very long time to give you your food (45 minutes). One time this guy delivered our food and he had Cheetos power all over his mouth and shirt. It was sooo gross. He should knew better to serve us like that. It's unprofessional. When I said thank yo for the food he just looked at me like he had a problem with me. The food is pretty good guys, it's just that they have bad customer service. But some employees are really nice though :).

The delivery guy was really weird. He wouldn't accept any coins at all and he kept on calling me honey and he kept on calling my house staff my mom and then he asked if he could use the bathroom at my house. I told him no and he told me to get my "mom" and asked her to use the bathroom and she said no. I got the popcorn chicken combo and the popcorn chicken was really really dry.

Hah! *Awesome* chicken joint. Totally authentic southern style (even if they did originate in Chicago?), and reminds me of many favorite little places from back home, down south. Service and prices are great. But more importantly: Chicken, shrimp, fish, liver, gizzards, okra, and more, with all the fixins! Heck yeah — this is how it’s done!

Decent food. I'm from Jax and this is in Minnesota. I asked for lemon pepper to be sprinkled on chicken and etc. He said due to COVID he couldn't do that but he could give me two small 1 oz containers for $1.00. That made no sense to me at all.

Great for wings and fish, If you are looking for something to share for a game, a friendly get together this is your place. They deliver or you can call and pick up your order. The parking lot can be a mess at times and is not located at the best area of town but is worth the visit.
