Reviews of The LaFayette Place
Fantastic! Food was ready right on time, the server that brought our food out to be picked-up curbside was incredibly kind and double checked our order with us right at the window! Food was DELICIOUS and still hot by the time we got home. We will definitely be back for more vegan food!
Love, love, LOVE this place! Highly recommend to anyone, vegan or not. The breakfast Sammie, the full English, and the cheesy breakfast hash are winners. I also really like the QR code ordering system. It really streamlines the process and the food always arrives shockingly fast. You'll still have a waiter/waitress checking up on you, of course, this just gets your order in to the kitchen quicker. They've also got an assortment of vegan bakery items including donuts from East Side Ovens. Don't miss out on this super cute spot!! 😍
My absolute favorite breakfast spot! I've gone almost once a week since they've opened. Everything I've tried has been delicious. I love so much of the menu, I usually order a second meal to go! My personal favorites are the bagel sandwich & the cheesy hash. The cold brew old fashioned is a MUST! You can't go wrong with their smoothies either. Their rotating selection of desserts are great, I especially loved the butterscotch bars.
I took my non-vegan dad here as well as some other vegan breakfast spots while he was in town. Lafayette Place was by far his favorite! He wants to go back next time he visits to get the chorizo burrito again.
The staff is excellent! They always create an inviting & clean environment to enjoy a meal. Special shout-out to Georgia for always providing excellent service & lovely conversation!
I hope one day they add something sweet to their breakfast menu, like waffles or french toast!
My wife and I come here every week. It’s one of the best vegan restaurants in Milwaukee, period. Breakfast and lunch are both delicious and their constant variety of drinks and bakery items means I always leave sad because I couldn’t try it all. Not a single menu item has been a miss, but the sandwiches are particularly great.
It also must be mentioned— service is divine. The servers are friendly, upbeat, fast, and helpful. Could not recommend this restaurant enough.
The service was excellent. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The food was plentiful, but not my particular style - I didn't realize it was a vegan restaurant. I ordered the cheesy potato breakfast and it was loaded with a little bit of everything, which was a bit too much for my palette to handle I guess - nothing against this beautifully quaint restaurant with outside seating whatsoever. I also ordered a ginger and turmeric tea which lived up to its name as well! I saw another person outside on the patio eating some roasted potatoes before I went inside the restaurant, which is what I probably should've originally ordered. So after my breakfast, I ordered some. I loved the roasted potatoes so much - now that was right up my alley! Now I'll definitely be back for those if nothing else!
Grabbed the Southern Po’boy today for takeout. Absolutely delicious! Flavorful, interesting, great textures. I can’t imagine anyone not liking this, vegan or not. The space was gorgeous and vibrant as well - I’ll have to stop for dine-in soon! Definitely check them out!
My friend and I bought both the vegan burritos available on the brunch menu and split them. Both burritos were delicious, but in different ways. The veggie burrito was the perfect light meal option, for when you want lots of flavor, but nothing heavy. It was perfectly crunchy. The chorizo burrito was my favorite. Mouthwatering good, it had a deep buttery flavor with mid-spice levels. The fruit cup we ordered was fresh and good sized. We enjoyed our coffee and chai drinks. I'd go back again and again.
Everything here is amazing! I highly recommend brekkie sandwich, London fog and any of their smoothies - they’re all so good.
The cheesy hash and bagel sandwich was also really good! Brekkie is just my favorite.
Non vegan friends who tried it loved it too and their prices are very reasonable compared to some other vegan options in the city for breakfasts
Love it here!
This location has seen its share of restaurant turnover. I'm optimistic that The Lafayette Place has staying power! My first experience was great, a friendly environment, prompt service and most importantly an excellent meal (breakfast burrito). I'll be back!
I'd seen the space being prepared to open for months, and stopped in on a whim today because they looked to be open! The atmosphere of the diner is very bright and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and helpful. They have a mobile order/pay system that was super convenient, so I got to order at my pace without having to wait for someone to take my order. I got The Classic breakfast and a pumpkin pie smoothie, and everything was delicious! I have Celiac, and was assured the kitchen would use fresh pans/utensils for me, and the GF bread they had was delicious.
Tiny space but excellent food. Very cool to have an all vegan brunch & lunch spot. We will be back.
I was severely hungover in bed, searching feverishly for a breakfast place that had nonmeat options and by golly I hit the jackpot with The LaFayette Place! If I could rate my experience a million stars I would. The vegan breakfast Sammie brought me back to life and then some. Do not sleep on this place!
Tried Lafayette Place for the first time. We had the Classic and the Cheesy Hash. Both were excellent. Great friendly staff and really cute place. Oh, and the owners, they are awesome!
Great atmosphere, the breakfast Sammies are phenomenal and the staff is great. Highly recommend for any vegan looking for great eats
Everything on the menu is delicious, you cannot tell its vegan! Their chorizo burrito is to die for!! Love this place.
It was my first time at the Lafayette place and the food was AMAZING! Staff was extremely kind and friendly, 5 stars for meee!
This place is literally amazing. I’ve been almost every weekend since it opened! I highly recommend the Ruby’s Breakfast Bagel, it’s so good!! I’ve been vegan for over a year and this is the first restaurant I’ve found that does vegan breakfast right. Even my dad, who is a huge meat and cheese type of guy, loved everything he tried from here. Great place for vegans and non-vegans alike.
The dining area is small and cozy but doesn’t feel crowded. The staff are super personable and accommodating and you can tell they’re really enthusiastic about this place. They have a huge drink list of cocktails, tea, and smoothies plus lots of classic comfort foods with a vegan twist.
Great atmosphere and great vegan options.
Arguably one of the best breakfast burritos in town... and it's vegan!
Well priced vegan food on the East Side of Mikwaukee! Their peach basil smoothie was *chefs kiss*
I ordered the cheesy hash, with generous portions and a great flavor, and my friend ordered their soup of the week. We'll definitely be back!
The food here is amazing and the customer service is even better. It really feels like staff at The Lafayette Place is part of one of the last establishments to make an effort to be a part of the community in which they work. Expect to be asked your name on your third visit and to have some great conversation.
The staff here is also a lot nicer about using physical menus than a lot of other restaurants. I have issues using my phone to order because of my vision, but Georgia was so nice about it, especially compared to some other people working in the mke food industry. I really appreciated that and her kindness is the reason I went back. Now I am a regular.
The food is all vegan, which is my preference, but don't let that make you think there is something lacking. I haven't tried all of the menu, but I'm pretty sure I've come close. I don't have any complaints for any of the meals offered. My favorites are the breakfast sammie, the vegan hash, or the veggie sandwich+avocado. My partner enjoys the chorizo burrito and chorizo joe. (If you're not a huge fan of cilantro, I'd recommend asking for light cilantro. I am a big fan though, so I love it as is.)
Teas are great overall, though a larger selection of green teas would suit my tastes more. :P However, I love Rishi teas, so honestly, I can't complain. The London fog is so delicious, I highly recommend it. Coffee is Anodyne (a mke roaster) and I've never been a fan, but my partner likes it. I would like to try some of the mixed drinks (a lavender lemonade with vodka sounds delightful), but I personally can't bring myself to have alcohol so early in my day. The smoothies are great too. I haven't had one I dislike yet. I don't remember which one I usually get, but I think it's a green smoothie of some sort.
The pastry case has some of the most delightful items I used to love as a kid. Being able to have a real cinnamon roll or cheddar biscuit without making it myself is a luxury I didn't realize I had missed so much. I will have to confirm, but I think there might be a rotating scone. It was peanut butter when I went in today, and it looked so good. If you get something from the case while dining, do yourself a favor and ask for it warmed up.
The only slight downsides are the temperature in the winter, the hours, and the size of the space. I'm not sure I'd actually want that to change though because I love knowing I'll recognize the wonderful people helping me. Plus, the small size makes the place feel so homey and I wouldn't have it any other way. I suppose finding a way to make the space warmer might be nice, but bring a sweater and get a warm drink. It will be that much cozier. ☺️
I want to let people know that the space is small, so while I think it is technically accessable, I would highly recommend calling in ahead of time to ensure you can get the space you need for a wheelchair or other mobility device.
Overall, I couldn't be happier to have another vegan haven so close to home. I appreciate the care that comes from all of the staff and the food is some of the best. If you're not inviting The Lafayette Place into your Milwaukee dining routine, you're missing out.
Creative, delicious and beautiful vegan options. So much love goes into the food at the National, the owners’ other and first restaurant - I knew it would be the same passion at Lafayette. And they did not disappoint! Been once, going back today to try more of the menu. So excited and thankful they opened!
Walk by this place all the time and watched it come together through the windows! Great experience today. Friendly and engaging staff. Reasonably priced non-dairy and vegan food ($9 for one sandwich, $11 for another, baked good for $4). Easy take out ordering system and my food was ready within about 4 minutes of the promised time. Dine-in was busy for a Saturday on their "soft open" weekend. Got the last Chorizo Joe order of the day! Great start! Looking forward to seeing this place thrive. I'm rooting for them!
First time coming here and will absolutely be back. Wonderful food and you get a lot for the price. Drinks were also delicious. Our toddler also approved and ate everything on her plate. They were also super accommodating as toddlers can be, well, toddlers.
Stopped in here with my wife directly after returning from an out of state wedding. The food here was exactly what our hungover bodies craved - incredible breakfast sandwiches, bloodies and crispy breakfast potatoes. 10/10 everyone should try The LaFayette Place.
Really good vegan food in a chill, cozy vibe, and a really friendly owner who clearly loves what she does! :)
This is my new favorite go-to!! I've been working my way through the menu and absolutely everything has been heaven!! My favorite for breakfast is the Brekkie Sandwich. The Ruby's Bagel sandwich is a very close second!! The cheesy hash is also delicious! For lunch, my favorite is the Veggie Melt, it's out of this world. The po'boy is also so so good!! You truly cannot go wrong here. All delicious. Great, kind staff. Adorable, cozy space. Highly recommend!!!
I’m not vegan but I get breakfast all the time. It’s so good!!!!
We did not realize this was a vegan restaurant before we arrived. We are not vegan but both still really enjoyed the food!! We loved the contactless ordering and paying. The staff was still attentive and kind. Would definitely recommend!
First time today for lunch and it was DELICIOUS! Cute esthetic and super friendly staff as well. So happy to have a vegetarian friendly option just a few minutes walk from my house. Can't wait to go back!
amazing vegan food and delicious coffee!!! also very reasonably priced with very sweet baristas.
The breakfast sandwich and English breakfast was delicious, peach basil smoothie was so good, such friendly staff, and loved the outdoor seating with our dogs!
Delicious vegan options, friendly staff, great atmosphere 😊
This place was wonderful. I enjoy the decor very much. I ordered the London Fog and the Full English. I might just try the whole menu. I'll recommend this place to anyone.
They have perfected vegan cheese! Hallelujah!
Not just some of the best vegan food I’ve ever had, but some of the best food I’ve ever had!
Great staff, music, vibes and tremendous food. Coming back for sure!
Great spot if you're vegan. Good vibes.
No meat. Okay, but plan on it. Serves alcohol. Easy and efficient ordering through QR code from your seat.
Brunch Cocktail was amazing and food was super tasty. Need to go back for the chorizo joe!
Beautiful food, kind staff, inviting atmosphere. Highly recommend - we will be back often!
Great new spot! Had a delicious Impossible breakfast sandwich and a great sweet. Nice ambiance, recommended!
Perfect spot on the east side of Milwaukee and the sibling restaurant to the National Cafe. But this spot is amazing because, wait for it - - - VEGAN.
Great food and it’s delicious.
Lovely place for breakfast or brunch.
Amazing, reasonably priced foods. Service was on par as well, very impressed!
Small, quaint and amazing restaurant. Superb options and customer friendly!
Great food! Nice location. Will continue eating here!
It’s obvious they care ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ , place is clean, staff is happy, definitely all hard things to find in MKE these days
Great food! Clean and cheerful appearance.
My veggie melt sandwich was amazing! Caring staff!!
