We’ve eaten at many different Arab restaurants and this was the BEST food and ambiance. Everything is made so fresh and delicious. The portions are also very generous. We got the mixed grill platter but dove right in and I forgot to take a pic first! The presentation is also 10/10 and just the whole vibe of the place is very authentic and fun. There’s a whole area for photo ops that is a very cool experience to take guests. We will definitely be back whenever we visit Milwaukee!

My go to for delicious & fresh middle eastern food in Milwaukee. Sorta pricy and you can’t be in a rush because you’ll have to wait for your food…but that’s the price you pay for the quality. They bake a lot of the breads fresh. This is a great choice for Arabs that have high pallet standards and those simply on a hunt for a delicious meal. I love their breakfast spreads, tea and mint & lemon smoothie. I actually hosted my birthday there last year. They were so accommodating and actually helped my friend with her dead car battery in the snow. Great owners!

I am glad to find this restaurant. From start to end, it was a great dining experience. Such a clean and authentic decor welcomes you. Our server was very polite and attentive. Everything we ordered were amazing, fresh from the oven, and delicious. People who live in Milwaukee are very lucky to have this restaurant, I hope they know its value.

Food is great. Bread is made fresh too. The only place I know that make Turkish coffee. The seasoning and flavors are superb. The waitress was a bit novice and took a bit longer than she should to check on us or forgot to bring a thing or two. They also did not have all the pastries they offer in the menu; perhaps they are now focused on a narrow list but hard to tell. Overall we enjoyed the food and the ambience. We recommend this place to anyone.

I am from New York City and we were passing by Milwaukee and found this place on Google. I can tell you this is an hidden gem! Dining room is very clean, staff are friendly but inexperienced -this is understandable because nobody wants to work in these days and kudos to these girls they choose to contribute- We were two people and ordered just appetizers, little bit of everything. There is a chicken dish comes with stuffed grape leaves but I asked without chicken :) they said it’s okay. Soup and other appetizers were delicious too. I am Turkish and love tea after a good meal. They serve different than our style but still delicious. I strongly recommend this place. Do not afraid to try by looking some of the bad reviews (yes, I read all of them) most of them don’t know how restaurants work in US and some of them expect supermarket price for a service plus meal! Ignore them, try this place.

All I can say is wow! This is such a fantastic hidden jem of the South side. The meat in the dishes was cooked to perfection. The vegetables were so fresh and flavorful. And the hummus... oh man the hummus was so smooth and creamy that we almost made that into a meal on its own. The staff is mostly kids but are so attentive and professional that most restaurants should send their staff to see how they should conduct themselves with customers. You now have a new set of devoted customers that will be returning for years to come as long as this type of experience continues to be the norm.

Food here is great but it's a little inconsistent and the servers don't seem to care that much. In an empty restaurant, I waited 20+ minutes for food and our appetizers + meal came out at the exact same time. Both hostesses we're sitting on their phones before one of the girls was like "your table is ready" and they finally brought it out. They have a few things to work on, but overall this is one of the best Arabic restaurants in Wisconsin period.

This place is absolutely out of this world!!! From the ambiance to service to food, everything was perfect! We ordered probably half of the menu and managed to scarf it down because it was simply too delicious. The highlights, personally, were the kibbeh, cheese & za’atar manakish, and the ground beef pies. Additionally, the service was awesome. So welcoming and warm, I couldn’t recommend this place any more!

Excellent and underrated spot on the far south side for Middle Eastern food. Pretty laid back and good for takeout or a bougie but affordable sit down experience, whatever you prefer. Owners seem to be pretty involved in the Milwaukee Muslim community as well, participating in things like Halal Restaurant Week. I recommend the coffee and either of the featured entrees. This restaurant is everything and more. Come with an empty stomach to fully appreciate the experience. Baklava is superb. All food is fresh and unbelievable. Music, culture and atmosphere is authentic. Service is genuine and caring.

This was an amazing find! Pita bread with olive oil and spice mixture was heaven. I loved the beef cubes kabob. The decor is beautiful. We took home some hareeseh and it is so good.

Best. Food. Ever. Don't start with the spinach Fatayer pie, but do not leave without having one. Lentil soup (w/squeeze of fresh lemon) - so good.and the breads! Freshly made. The falafel has a brightness and lightness to it that mine do not have (yet!) Even the most humble of their menu offerings are elevated and are incredibly good. Everything they offer is going to stand out and I cannot wait to get back to Milwaukee to try more.

I have both eaten in the restaurant and had them cater and had great experiences both times. With catering the food was delivered fresh and hot on time and placed where I wanted it. The driver was courteous and helpful. Many of my guests commented on how fabulous the food was and I agree— The meat was grilled to perfection, juicy and flavorful. The baba ghanouj was smoky and well seasoned, the hummus was smooth and garlicky, and salads were excellent, the bread was so fresh— all of the 100 grape leaves in the order got devoured. We had ample quantities for that many people with two orders of the extra large grill and an order of grape leaves. Thank you Taqwas for helping making my party a success.

Absolutely loved dining here! It looks so unassuming from the outside, but when you step in, everything is beautiful! They did a great job setting up the atmosphere with the decor. All of the food we got was delicious! Very flavorful hummus with lots of herbs and some spicy & tangy sauce garnishes. Drinks were good, my friend got a Turkish coffee which came in a very cute presentation, and mint lemonade smoothie was delicious. Our entrees came on massive platters, providing us with enough extra food to take home for a whole second meal. Waitstaff were also very nice, gave us his recommendations on side salad options and appetizers which was helpful. Perfectly attentive...needs were always met but not annoying being around the whole time. Only criticism I have for the whole place is it would be nice to have real glasses and not red plastic cups. They stuck out like a sore thumb with the rest of the place being so nicely set up and decorated and the rest of the food presentation.

I've been to Jordan and loved their flavors. This place has lovely, authentic flavors and decor. Today I did not have a full meal, so my rating is limited to dessert. I ordered the Pistachio Baklava. Oh my, it was SO good. Not that sickeningly sweet kind one finds most places. The owner said it's flavors were "balanced" and that was it. I will go back to try more meals. Treat yourself. This is my second visit to this restaurant on a Sunday evening for dinner. Food was good, but the service was slow. They said the items will take 30 mins. But this is in spite of just our group of 6 alone present in the entire restaurant. The two items we wanted from the menu wasn't available. The mint tea pot we ordered was never received. We did remind her when we got the entrees. But finally she came back saying kitchen is closed. And while billing, the lady billed the mint tea pot we had not received and also a sauce extra. We noticed it after we paid, so the lady asked us to get some sweets for that price as she cannot refund the amount.

This is one of the best meditation resturants I am visited so far. The ambient is great, the food is even better. We ordered the large mixed grill platter and it was too much for 4 people. I think 6 people can easily eat it. The quality is good. The price is very reasonable. Also the Bekary is also fresh. Overall a great great place to dine in or take out. One small suggestion to the owner, when you are serving large portions of food like meat, try to place ot over something hot. Because, once it is cold, it does not taste that good.

This was our second time dining at Taqwas and the food was just as great as the first time. If you enjoy Arab dining, you'll love Taqwas. And their brick oven baked bread is AMAZING

This is our first time here. Did pick up. Ordered Mosakkhan, mixed grill platter with fattoush salad and baklava. Overall taste of the items is average but their meat felt fresh. Mosakkhan chicken was bland but the caramelized onion topped bread was full of flavors. Wrapped together with the tziki sauce it tasted good. All the kababs of the mixed grill platter tasted ok, had better in other places. Baklava was great, no overwhelming rose water syrup. I guess they are more of a bakery and breakfast/brunch kind of place. Their interior is very beautiful. I'll come again to dine in once the pandemic is over. I'll go for the light orders next time.

This was our first time visiting Taqwa's Bakery & Restaurant. Before we sat down at our table, we immediately noticed the beautiful decor and Middle Eastern music. We ordered the cheese & zaatar manakish, hummus, baba ghannouj, mthawwamih, falafel, and fried mediterranean cheese. For drinks, we had the Turkish coffee and laban ayran (yogurt drink). The food was fabulous. The bread was freshly baked in their stone oven. The dishes were authentic and flavorful. The restaurant was quite busy but the service was prompt. We will certainly be back!

What an incredible restaurant. Hands down, this is the best dining experience I've had in Wisconsin in at least a year. The falafel and hummus were perfection, and the freshly made bread is nothing short of divine. Such incredible food was only surpassed by the warm and loving hospitality; lunch here reminded me what I love about restaurants (and what's i've been missing during social isolation). Beautifully decorated restaurant with delicious, authentic middle-eastern food. I came with my family and ordered the large platter that serves 8-10 people. The meat was plenty, and so tender and juicy. The rice was light and fluffy. The platter came with 2 plates of hummus, 2 baba ghanouj and 2 salads. Everything was delicious and fresh. Our server kept returning with freshly baked bread, which was really appreciated. From the atmosphere to the service, to the food, Taqwa’s restaurant provides an excellent experience!

So glad I chose this spot for some lentil soup. Hands down amazing. We ordered dinner from here for our son's family birthday party with a ton of adults. Taqwa was amazing helping me select the right food, quantities and to stay within my budget. I wasn't sure what to expect but I knew the food was going to be great. I was blown away! Taqwa's husband Abdullah delivered directly to our house (for a small fee) and helped set everything up. He was so kind. As he kept lifting up the lids on all the trays each item was more beautiful than the next! The hummus looked like a masterpiece! Everyone at our party could not stop talking about the food, they all had seconds and thirds! They thought it was incredible. There is not a lot of food like this in the area and this is a place we will keep coming back to and ordering from. Taqwa, her family and her business went the extra mile for us. I can't say enough great things! Thank you Taqwa!

We live in Madison, WI and sought out a Middle Eastern restaurant on a recent trip to Ikea in Oak Creek. We wanted a restaurant that also has a bakery serving particular favorites z'aatar bread and fatayer (both spinach and meat). Taqwas did not disappoint! Even though we arrived after the bread oven was closed down (it operates for breakfast and early lunch - 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.) the owner, upon learning that we'd come from out of town hoping to have some z'aatar bread right from the oven, restarted the oven and prepared a generous order for us. Delicious! The fatayer were similarly wonderful. We also ordered shish tawouk as a wrap and the house speciality dish of a half chicken served on a piece of fresh pita covered with onions and lemon juice. While waiting for our baked items, we had bowls of the wonderful house lentil soup. Everything we ate at the restaurant and brought home to enjoy later was first rate. The staff of the restaurant, and the owner, are lovely people, very friendly and as is obvious willing to go the extra mile to take care of customers. We will make Taqwas a regular stop - it's not much more than an hour from Madison, and it's well worth the drive.

So the obvious and most important thing is that the food is amazing. I'm actually not the biggest fan of Middle Eastern food though I do enjoy it time to time just because the flavors aren't usually Hardy enough for me. But these dishes seem to have just a little bit more pop and seasoning to where I find the perfect and the people that were with us with a more traditional palette enjoyed just as equally. Good night that we arrived they were not planning for as busy as they were. It was evident that they had to call in another server as every table ended up occupied. Everyone worked hard was continually courteous and got things out and worked with all of us. Even with they are being overwhelmed it was an amazing experience where they bend over backwards to make sure that everyone left satisfied. I am now craving the next time I can go back!

This restaurant has the nicest staff and great food. The menu isn't too large: they offer all the classic Levantine foods and make them well. It's reasonably priced, they have a beautifully decorated interior, and outdoor seating is available in warm weather. If you're looking for delicious Arab food accompanied by unmatched Arab hospitality, you'll find it here.

My favorite middle eastern restaurant in Madison closed several years ago due to housing development and my heart was broken because of it - I spent a lot of time there enjoying everything on their menu. After several less than stellar experiences elsewhere when trying to find a place that matched the restaurant I was so in love with, I was hesitant to try Taqwas; however, the food, vibe, authenticity, and service were phenomenal. My husband and I stopped on our way to a week getaway for our wedding anniversary and we talked about how incredible the food was the entire week; it was so good that we made the decision to stop back again on our way home. We don't venture to Milwaukee often but we certainly will now. Taqwas has shot up to top three in my favorite restaurants. What an absolute gem of a place!

The rice was very good. The chicken kabob was very tasty and moist. The steak kabob was seasoned perfectly and had good char for flavor but was just slightly overcooked for my taste. Still, it was very satisfying. The seasoned ground beef kabob was ok flavor wise but was very dry. The salad was fresh and had a good mix of veggies but I didn't care for the dressing. It was a little too tart or sour for my taste. The spinach pie was cooked just right but again tasted a little too tart/sour and too many onions for my taste. The ambiance was GREAT! I loved the decorations and the music playing. I would love to come here with a group of friends whenever this CoVid situation is resolved. No matter what I will come back even just for takeout.

Stopped here because we heard good things from a Milwaukee Foodie group and we were in the area and it did not disappoint! The flavors are phenomenal. We tried the Mixed Grill Platter and the Dawalee. Both portions were huge. I think the Kufta Kabob is the best I've ever eaten. The beef & chicken kabob was also very good. Make sure you get the garlic sauce and hot sauce. I'll be back soon! :)

First time trying. Everything tasted good (especially the steak) but the prices were raised too high for the portions given. A $7 side salad came in a tiny container. Plus they did not allow me to buy bread to go even though bakery is in their name. Likely will not return.

My partner and I went there tonight just on a whim after seeing the name while driving past and wow am I glad we did. First, they were nice enough to stay open for us as they were closing down a little early tonight so huge points for that. The décor is beautiful. They managed to take a standard strip-mall type building and create a beautiful interior that stands out. The server was very friendly and also very helpful in identifying menu items that met dietary and allergy needs. As far as food goes... Zeit and Zaatar Manakish: The flatbread was fantastic as was the olive oil. The spice mixture was tasty, but didn't 'wow' me. That's not a commentary on the quality, it just didn't make me scream with joy. Falafel: HOLY GOD THESE WERE DELICIOUS! Not much more to say on that. :) Kufta Kabob Platter: First off, this comes on a huge platter of rice along with the kabob components so come hungry. The kufta was very well spiced and quite delicious. Even the rice and grilled veggies (onion, pepper, tomato) were extremely good and had that great char flavor. The entre also comes with a choice of one of their salad options. I went with the tabbouleh myself which was fresh and vibrant. The pricing was about average for what you'd expect to pay for dinner these days. For two kabob platters, an order of falafel (6), and two drinks it was about $45 + tip. I very much highly recommend popping by just for the experience of the décor, but they do also have an external carry-out window and delivery through the usual services. We're both super happy with our experience and will definitely be going back.

Great middle eastern food with generous portions. I’m a big fan of the dawali, but everything I’ve tried there has been delicious. We love getting her spinach pies and manakeesh for breakfast as well. It has a homey outdoor space that was nice in the warmer months. The decor inside is super cute and there’s a seating area for pictures as well.

Wow. This place is so clean inside and out. It looks newly remodeled and the atmosphere is very cultural. We have been here 3 times now and not once were we disappointed. We had the Large Mix Grill which is about 3-4 servings of food. It was nicely seasoned and cooked to perfection. Bread is baked fresh daily there in a stone oven by Abdul. Stop in and give them a try, you will not regret it.

I had a really great time at the restaurant. The food was amazing, there was so much flavor in the meat. Their kibbeh is super good. It’s like heaven in my mouth. The service was amazing too. I had a young man wait my table, and he was super nice. He had some good jokes too. He would help me out and was super patient with me and my curiosity with the middle eastern food. There was also this very nice bald man who would work at the bakery area with all the bread. Turns out, their bread is fully made from scratch, and it’s their own recipe. And let me tell you this, the bread, it’s extraordinary. It tasted amazing with the appetizers they gave us in the beginning. I will definitely be back and bring family and friends next time. I felt really comfortable and welcome in their restaurant. It was actually very homey and beautiful.

Wow! What a great place to open up on the south side. By far the best middle eastern food in the area. My husband picked this restaurant out of nowhere because he had noticed it while driving down S. 27th St. and curiosity won the best of him and I am so glad it did! We had a late dinner and when we walked in we were immediately greeted by our waitress and shown to our booth. The restaurant is beautiful they truly did an amazing job transforming it from a cookie cutter fast food space to a middle eastern oasis. Once we took a seat first thing they brought out was a delicious fire oven in house made middle eastern bread with dipping oil and spice blend which was a pleasant surprise. We ordered Babaganoush as an appetizer and you could tell the freshness of the ingredients used to make the dip. My husband ordered Shishkabobs and I ordered lamb chops. Both dishes were made with fresh ingredients which enhanced their flavor and showcased the spices and marinades of the traditional middle eastern cuisine and were accompanied by rice. The rice was outstanding and complemented the meats very well. We ended our dinner with dessert and authentic Arab coffee; I was pleasantly surprised of the spices that I was able to taste while drinking it and the Baklava, which was also made in house, was a great way to end our evening. Our waitress was very friendly, available always checking on us and had a wonderful sense of humor. Mohammad one of the owners was friendly and made you feel at home. One last thing I want to point out is the whole place is very Covid aware; everyone wore masks, tables were disinfected and wiped down after every meal, and there was hand sanitizer available by the counter! Keep up the great job; can’t wait to come in again soon 😊

I placed my first order from here after just hearing about it! It was soo good. I had the potato pie which I wish I had gotten more of. Next time I go I will be sure to get more and also try the other pies. I also got the chicken shish tawook wrap and baklava. It has only been open a few weeks and I have been there twice; once for carryout and once for in-person dining on their patio. Yes, they have a beautiful fenced in patio with super cushioned seating. At first I thought this was an Indian Food restaurant but it is Arabian Food! High protein grilled meat menu with luxurious Mediterranean sides, breads, and salads! Super healthy and Super delicious! They have a large fired oven in the middle of the restaurant where all their breads are baked fresh in front of you! The flavors are more subtle than Indian Food. There is no worry of having something "too spicy". The presentation of the plates is high quality. The ingredients of the food is high quality. The prices are very reasonable and the portions sizes are quite large adding even more value. The interior is exquisitely decorated in true Arabian theme. One would never know it was once a Burger King! They will be offering a drive through soon for even easier ways to enjoy their great food. Personally, in Covid world, I really enjoyed the Patio seating..but it was during the day. Come winter I will definitely make use of the drive through. When I did get carryout, the restaurant was FULL. It is a beautiful setting. But the food.....Fabulous!!!

Decided to try something different so we stopped in fo lunch an were impressed with the interior character and wait staff. We initially set at an indoor table but then realized there was a covered patio available outside which we requested and were allowed to sit at it would succeed me warm outside 94 degrees but the fries on the patio and the refreshing iced tea was very relaxing and comfortable not knowing which food assumed we were offered Suggestions by the server who recommended two entrees and not reviewing the menu in detail followed her her suggestions they were to see me tasty serve pleasantly and characteristic Mediterranean authenticity of lemon, parsley, cucumber sauce and mint and a variety of different mixes with meats and vegetables after spending approximately hour-and-a-half eating and joining the atmosphere we left without sampeling any of the scrumptious dessert which were evidently available. Iit appears as though breakfast and super are there strong suits, But I think one of the pies with soup/salid would be a great lunch.

We did carry out for the first time tonight. I did end up waiting for quite awhile in the parking lot for my order. They were pretty busy and the young lady was very apologetic so that goes a long way in my book. They did forgot my order of falafel so that takes a star away. The food was very good but a bit on the pricey side in my opinion. The taboun bread was awesome and still warm when I got it home. We enjoyed everything we ordered and I’m sure we will be back in the future. I’m glad to see something took over the old BK building.

We had lunch with friends yesterday. I had never been here but our friends love this place and I can definitely see why. The food is a 10 for sure. I docked a point because of service and also they told us they were unable to provide certain items on the menu because they were too busy yet we saw other tables getting the items we had wanted. The other thing was there was guys in the parking lot that had a gun and it seemed that one of the people working in the restaurant knew them because he went out there and was laughing with the group. It's sort of nerve-wracking to eat lunch and have to see a group of guys with a gun in the parking lot especially during these times we live in.

Tie me up and throw me into a pit of fire - the food here is absolutely delicious! The lamb chomps with rice was as good as the Libyan regime back in the 80s; fresh and savory. I highly recommend getting a side of hummus and falafel too. Don't worry about the bill, there's nothing better you could spend your money on. When you go there, mention my name "bandoor" - this way they charge you extra. They deserve every penny.

Dined there for the first time yesterday and as a middle eastern born and raised person from Arabia I can attest to its authenticity not to mention it’s great tastes! I ordered hummus, baba ghanouj, mix grill plate and a freshly squeezed mint lemonade drink! Big portions, and all very tasty. Bread is baked fresh before served in their fire oven which is visible to the clients (like a pizza open oven). We also ordered mana’eesh (a freshly baked bread in a pizza shape topped with Zataar and olive oil) along with fatayer ( like a stuffed calazone with spinach and cheese) all nicely packed and freshly baked handed to us on our way out! It’s an adorable family run business and the passion shows through everything! Mashalla.. a must try alone, with a friend or a full family.

Mrs. Taqwa recently catered a luncheon for our school staff and guests (125 people). The food ordered was delivered and set up by Taqwa and her helpers on time to the minute we requested it. In addition, she provided the desserts, drinks, plates and utensils. In other words, it was a complete service. The variety of foods was exceptional. We ordered chicken and beef kabob, rice, salads, spinach, cheese and meat pies, stuffed grape leaves (dolmatas), hummus, mixed vegetables in a rich tomato sauce and of course, the famous tabun bread baked fresh daily. The food was plentiful and all of the guests enjoyed the lunch. The price per individual was extremely fair. Highly recommend Taqwa’s for some of the best Mediterranean flavours in the Milwaukee area. In addition to catering and dine-in services, there is also a drive through.

the food here is really good. however they don't provide bread for takeout orders, which as an arab myself, i find to be crazy. you can't sell baba ghanouj and hummus and no bread? what? the first time they told me they ran out of bread. the second time i asked for bread she told me they didn't have any, then changed her story and said they save it for the buffet. which... who's doing a buffet in the middle of a pandemic? she said she'd check if she could give me bread and put me on hold and came back and said no. like, again, what? who sells hummus and baba ghanouj and no bread? if you're an arabic restaurant you need to serve bread on the side. periodt. let me know when you fix this issue plz.

OMG! I just found my new "go to" Mediterranean/Middle Eastern place. Since it was my first time, I ordered WAY to much cuz everything sounded great. The Baba Gannouj was outstanding (been way too long since I had baba gannouj as good as this) as we're the falafels and hummus. Got a Taboun expecting something like a pita. Boy was I wrong. It was as big as my head, soft, chewy and amazing. I'll never eat a pita again. AND I ordered a Manakish which, I had no idea, was the size of a pizza. Its was crispy on the bottom, soft and chewy in the middle, smoothered with chesse and unbelievably delicious. Yeah... I'll be back.

Just fantastic. We did a pot of mint tea, a lamb chop dinner, a lentil soup, mthawwamih (think Greek scordalia but better) labneh ( a yogurt cheese with a pool of olive oil in the center), manakish (think a light as air fluffy cheese pizza with zataar seasoning too), with a basket of the hearth baked fluffy bread, a small bowl of olive oil and some dry zataar for dunking as an amuse bouche and three anise date filled cookies to go and a total bill that was most reasonable. Looking forward to a quick return to try more items.

What can I say but wow. My wife and I went for a late lunch date and ordered the hummus to share, my wife had the mixed grill platter with cucumber yogurt salad, and I had kufta kabob wrap. The hummus was almost certainly the best hummus I've had in my life, the fresh warm bread and all the toppings? I'm never going to be satisfied with normal grocery store hummus after this, it's broken me. The portions on our entrees were insane, we're both going to get at least another meal out of them, maybe even more. The kufta was juicy and and deliciously spiced. Amazing that we have this option in our community, we're going to be back for sure!
