Cool establishment. The sea salad was fresh and balanced. Tasty herbs and unique texture in the kelp noodles. Drinks were well-made, balanced with pretty garnishes. 1970s funk and blues music playing off a turntable.

This small plate restaurant offered a really rare combination if flavors and original pairings. Drinks 4/5: wide variety of tripe of drinks. Prices were the usual. We ordered two vermouths, both delicious. The Blue Velvet drink does not own up to its name. It’s flavor is not soft nor smooth but rather citric.(I’m being generous with this description, trust me🥴) Portions 4/5: for a small plate place were good, but for the price they’re a little bit over. Ex. the gluten free “bread” has only 2 pieces cut in half. Taste: bread for our plates were a bit burnt and not the best flavor. Service 4/5: two people for a full restaurant is not much but they did a good job of taking care of us. HOWEVER, food took a LOT of time. Almost an hour for 2 dips with bread. Ambience: good outdoor seating not as noisy as you would think for the location. Inside siting is limited. A hipster multicultural melting pot, but definitely a casual place.

Personally, I find the menu to be a bit fussy. That's really a quality of me and not of the restaurant. The service is always superb. The small space can be quite loud. I think even with what I'm referring to as fussy food, any person who loves great food, including me, will love this place. I do. Conversation? You might have to hold that for later.

We enjoyed our time. The Brussel sprout salad, warm bread, and tahini potatoes were yummy! The hot tea was delicious. It's not really a place to get a big meal, unless you order several small plates.

Even though I am not 100% vegan I still enjoy meatless meals. I have been here several times with the changes in menus and each time there is something new to enjoy. The wines are superb also and I also like the ambiance with the vinyl playing for background music. I am hoping post COVID to return again. Definitely recommend this

Awesome environment, they have twinkle lights everywhere! The food was great too. I had Sicilian pizza, the soup of the day was chowder, and the Thai quinoa congee. The congee was quite savory( too savory for my taste) but overall delicious. I'll need to stick with a small plate next time so I can try their deserts!

This was hands down one of the best vegan meals I’ve had in a very long time. Not overpriced, VERY filling, and so much flavor! There’s something for everyone! The waitress was so sweet and let us take our time even though it was busy. Kombucha on tap too! I’ll be back this weekend!!

Can not recommend enough! Lucas was our AWESOME server. Fun energy and great recommendations. Phenomenal food and drink! We loved the potato croquettes and fancy nachos were incredible, lots of fun bright flavors. They offer wine flights for those who like a variety (like me), and the Black Christmas cocktail is SO underrated. Not to mention the atmosphere is super cozy and chic. New favorite place!

Great small plate vegan restaurant in the location that used to be occupied by Allium. A wide variety of small plate vegan dishes with soups and desserts. A large wine selection and some tap beer. Small so make a reservation. Excellent and knowledgeable service. Great place for a celebration.

This place has been on my radar for a while. I finally made the trip (i.e. 10 minute walk) tonight, and it was well worth it. Everything about it was what I want from a dining out; warm atmosphere, excellent service, and and unique menu options. I had an Italian soda with house made simple syrup made from a vegetable I had never heard of (something celery-adjacent, I don’t remember the name, but it was lovely.) The hummus, veggies, and pita was delicious, and I can’t wait to go back and try more menu items. This place is a whole vibe.

One of the best vegan restaurants I have been to. I had the Domaine De La Minotiere Cidre which had a rich taste. My entree was an Eggplant Involtini with tomato salsa and basmati rice. It was perfectly balanced in flavour and tasted pretty good. The Saffron-Lemon Creme Brulee for dessert was well made. Overall, I would definitely recommend this restaurant for vegans and meat eaters alike.

By normal habit I am a meat-eater. However, when visiting my vegetarian son in Milwaukee I get out of my comfort zone and select places he has options. Well Strange Town did not disappoint. The hummus was the best my son has had. The mojo de ajo potatoes were great and the mushroom polenta was great. More food than the 2 of us could finish. Can’t wait to go back with my son and wife.

Vegan food is becoming more and more available in Milwaukee, so I was really excited to hear about yet another vegan/vegetarian restaurant opening here. This is definitely a place to check out if you're vegan/vegetarian, but be warned - IT IS PRICEY! And the plates are small for the price you pay. But it's worth it if you choose carefully. Both of us really liked our meals, excellent flavors, beautiful presentation, charming atmosphere, friendly and fast service. The place is smaller than I expected, based on all the rave reviews I'd heard, I guess I just pictured it larger in my head. But it's definitely a place to go if you want an intimate, romantic dinner, a special place to go on a special occasion. I'd give it 5 Stars if the pricing was a bit more in my range so that I could come here frequently. Reviewed on 4/26/2019

I was in town for work and saw that this place was a vegan option in the city. The atmosphere was superb. The scent of the place was amazing. I had two specials a really great soup spicy and flavorful, a really subtle but full of flavor red blend drink with spices and citrus. I also tried the brussel sprouts and a dessert. Everything was amazing!

Absolutely wonderful food! Great friendly service, and prices that are reasonable for the high quality vegan dishes offered. Everything was full of delicious flavor, and the portions were perfect for sharing. This was the best meal I’ve had out in a long time, vegan or otherwise. It was a great place for a cozy anniversary dinner. Even the cocktails were outstanding, and very different. We look forward to going back.

Great for cozy place. Super friendly staff. Meals a pretty much all shareables and tasty. You'll need a couple to fill you up is the only downside. Good drink list. Would definitely go to chill at the small bar and have a dish like after a meal.

Went there with the boyfriend over the summer. The food was amazing, but the customer service was not the best. We had ordered a second order of an appetizer and it had already came. Then, they came out with another order and got annoyed when we mentioned we received the second round of it already. The waitress got kind of annoyed over a miscommunication... which happens.

This is a stellar restaurant, with a diverse and inspired menu. As a vegan, it's refreshing to be able to go to a restaurant and have more than just a few options, and I've also been here with non-vegans who have loved the food as well. The vegan panna cotta is truly exceptional, but you can't go wrong with any of their dishes.

Delicious, the service was friendly and attentive. Try everything, seriously. It's a small plates restaurant, so you share several dishes. My husband and I shared 5 and had dessert. We will be returning. PS! Extensive drink menu with very unique drinks (as an avid wine drinker, I have never heard of orange wine before!).

Really unique place. I've never been anywhere quite like it. "Playful" is the word I'd use to describe the carefully curated menu. I enjoyed my cocktail and meal and the environment was so interesting it captured my attention and helped bring me into the moment. Better for groups, the dishes are like tapas.

First vegan experience and it has me wanting to come back for more! We had a group of 6 and tried the December Salad, Samosas, Mushroom tartine, chip/queso plate, and two other dishes. Everything was delicious and presented well. The waitress knew the menu and could speak to it. Will definitely be coming back!

food: I love the food here, their options are all vegan and very unique, the menu changes and it's likely that you've never tried something like their menu items unless you have an adventurous pallet and try different foods regularly. Their drinks are also out of this world, their wines, ciders, and beers are ethnic but not from any particular place. Loved this. price: for the exquisite setting and fancy food items, the prices are amazing. their prices alone are worth the experience, because you'll taste great dishes at very reasonable rate setting: The place is so neat, somewhat small but cozy enough for a dinner with friends or someone special. reservations required, unless you're okay with sitting at bar top, which we did and had a wonderful experience. staff/service: the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, you'll likely have questions about the menu items and they do a great job of explaining what you plan on eating.

I met a friend here and it was our first time. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We sat here for hours, never felt rushed, loved the food and wine selection too. After dinner I had an incredible chaga espresso. Truly a unique homey little place.

I visited Strange town in Milwaukee in the past few months and was super thrilled to come here as I am exploring vegan places lately. Came here with couple friends and we ordered a few drinks to start off. They were out of a few ciders but we ended up getting one of the ones that was in the menu from Spain. It had a unique taste and quite different from the ciders you have in US. Give it a go. The wines I thought were very expensive given the amounts they served. My friends got some and they seemed to enjoy it. Since it's a shared plates place we got a few items to start with and see how it went from there.. the hummus was really good, I got the mushroom polenta which sounded really amazing but tasted a bit underwhelming.. I think it could be improved by adding perhaps truffle oil to it. I think their CBD Kombucha is famous here which my friends tried too. Strange town had very different kind of music.. at one point we felt like we were sitting in some Warner Brothers studio hahaha! I am gonna come here again and recommend trying this out!

We were a 3 top walk in and they were able to accommodate us. Amazing wine list featuring organic and eclectic bottles. The $5 pour is a great deal too. We ordered 3 plates off the menu plus 2 cups of soup for 3 people and we all left more than satisfied.

The staff is very helpful and friendly. I enjoyed my food, some of our group of 4 found theirs to spicy. I had rice balls with marinara sauce and pesto sauce my previous visit, but it was not available this time. Not enough choices tonight.

The best parts of Strange Town are the healthy menu and vegan/vegetarian options. The service was also solid, too. Unfortunately, the menu is expensive and the quantities are quite small. The menu highlights small and large plates but the items we ordered from each were comparable in size (i.e. particularly small) and still pricey. Drinks were also expensive. The restaurant is petite and you can be packed in pretty snugly. If you prefer small portions and want more of a variety of healthy vegan/vegetarian options, Strange Town is a good fit for you. If these aren't the most important factors to you, though, you'll likely be better off somewhere else.

I went here for my boyfriends birthday and had a wonderful time. Our waitress was very kind and knowledgable. She was very busy though and I think they could use another waitress because it was quite busy. Food was pretty good, lots of delicious small plate options to try. I had the pink moon which was amazing! Overall would go back, my only suggestion is to have a little bit more lighting in the restaurant. At night it was very dark

A fun place to try whether you're vegan or just looking for something healthy or a little different. They have a great drink menu and the food, which is served small plate style, is flavorful and nicely presented. The menu is fairly small, but everything was delicious!

Completely different from Vegan food you'll see anywhere else in town. It's incredibly unique and everyone here obviously cares so much about what they do. Our server was extremely accommodating and knowledgeable about the menu. Can't wait to try everything I missed the first time!

I would say it's a bit expensive for what it offers, but the food did taste *really good*, so I would gladly pay that price again. I liked the atmosphere, the decorations, and all the plants. It gives the place a down to earth feel. The music was good as well, but a little repetitive after a while. I wouldn't take large groups here - 5 people or less would work best.

The food is delicious, complex and beautifully served. As we left, my friend said, to the server, "I feel as if I have been fed." No, it's not Mom Food or "comfort food." Rather, it is a distillation of a thoughtful and knowledgeable approach to and love of vegan food. The dishes we had (a chickpea/potato/cauliflower/cilantro appetizer, the eggplant involtini and the arancini balls) arrived at a good temperature--not cold, not hot--and were beautifully served. The arancini especially has a wonderful tomato-ey, fennel sauce that would be excellent on anything. I don't know--I've had vegetarian and vegan food before but this is the best I've ever had. I am in love with the food at Strange Town.

For all the meat lovers out there - you won't even realize you're not eating meat! The dishes are so good. We got the Samosas, the two dips, and the aguachile (like ceviche but without fish). The samosas were my favorite, followed by the aguachile which was very lime-y (a huge plus for me!) and then the carrot dip and finally the artichoke dip. The table next to us was talking about how everything is designed for that specific restaurant - down to the music they were playing. May be a rumor - but would be pretty awesome if it is true!! I will definitely be back - well done!

We had a 6:45pm rez on a Wednesday night, which was worked out perfectly, as the place was otherwise full when we arrived. It's only small inside, maybe 6-8 tables as well as a bar you're able to sit at. I love the smaller and quaint size, it gives the place such a homey-feel. As does the decor and overall atmosphere.

Excellent food, even the non-vegans in our party were very happy. It's a small menu, but all so good. We had quite a few dishes that we shared, all were amazing. Especially the tempura mac, the congee, and the chocolate cake. The only thing that was odd was that we were the only customers in the place and the music was playing very loudly, making it hard to hear each other. When we asked about the volume, we were told that's the volume and it can't be changed. Regardless, I'll be back!!
