Reviews of Maharaja

I walked into a restaurant that had the atmosphere perfect for a date night. Greeted immediately with broad genuinely smiling faces. Our service was absolutely wonderful there wasn't any Gap in service at all. The food came out in a timely fashion nothing was missing. I had the tandoori lamb and the curry lamb medium spicy with garlic naan and cheese naan and another curried lamb spicy. The food was absolutely amazing hot well seasoned tender lamb good portions and the perfect amount of food for two. I was made a drink that wasn't on the menu but it was made perfectly but just in case our table checked on to make sure the drink was too my liking asking if I needed anything to balance to drink out which I did not because it was absolutely perfect. The service alone make me return to a place like this. The bathrooms were clean well stocked and tidy a bit on the smaller side but it does its job as far as bathrooms go. The restaurant was nice they had a full bar with bar seating and it appears that they offer to go as well. Would absolutely return 10 out of 10. Highly recommended.

What a FANTASTIC Authentic Indian Food!!
After Visiting Temple, I took my family to Maharaja Restaurant as I had heard much about that .
Waitress explained the menu Very nicely. We ordered some drinks and we preferred to go for the buffet. I liked crispy Punjabi style pakoras and manchurian.
Noodles I didn't like. They could have been made much better.
Potatoes and peas vegetable was very delicious. Even I liked Shahi Paneer preparation. Others in my family liked non vegetarian food too like Lamb curry, chicken tikka masala, Fish Fry but being vegetarian I was happy with very yummy garlic naan . All dishes were fresh and it tasted like homemade food. My son loved the Mysore Masala dosa with the sambar.
They serve Gol Guppas in the buffet but need improvement.
The drinks (certain type) were included in the buffet
Dessert like gulab jamun and kheer was perfect and they also served Mango ice cream on demand. I tasted everything but preferred Hot Gulab jamuns.
Service was super good. Friendly and generous reception . Everything neat and clean. Furniture setting was good and surprisingly no table was vacant. Sarah was our server and she made sure everything was taken care of.
Best thing, we all got private parking.

One if the finest Indian Restaurant i have tried in months. I loved how our server (Sarah) was very considerate, helpful and very smart. I lived the way she introduced herself on the table that she will be making sure everything is taken care of.
We went there in a party of 8 after my sister’s engagement. Since we went for the lunch, there was buffet or we could order Ala-Carte. We chose the buffet as it so many options - both in vegetarian and meat.
Couple drinks were included in the menu. I ordered Mango and Orange Mimosa and few others on the table ordered Taj Mahal Beer.
From what i could recall - they had Mysore masala dosa, pakoras, sambar, fish fry, paneer tikka masala, noodles, lamb curry, chicken curry, matar paneer, Manchurian, Pani Puri, salad. - i am still missing 5-6 items.
But food quality was very good. The naan are served hot on the table.
We enjoyed our food and then in desserts ate Gulab Jamun, kheer, and mango ice cream.
The owner of the restaurant was always in the dining area making sure everything is taken care of well.
Definitely a place to try if you are in Milwaukee area.
Family Owned restaurant - Do support them

We're from Madison, WI. The Indian Restaurants here no longer serve buffets, so we decided to try our luck in Milwaukee. Glad we did. We were greeted very graciously by our host/mgr as well as their super friendly waitstaff. Already a HUGE improvement from the service we get at Indian Restaurants in Madison.
The staff explained that there was a lunch buffet $20. We were there on the weekend, a little pricier than we'd like, however, it did include refreshments such as Mango Smoothies, Mimosas, Bloody Mary's, along with fountain beverages. Their Mango Smoothie hit the spot, especially after eating the various curry offered from their buffet.
Their buffet is small in comparison to some of our older Madison buffets, but they make that size up with absolutely delicious, foodgasmic experiences with their choice selections they put in their buffet table. I chose to get the standard Bread and Butter items, such as Chicken Tikka Masala, Saag Paneer, Malai Kofta, Goat Curry, and some fried catfish nuggets. Accompanying that was a few spoons of chutneys (Coconut, Mint, and Tomato) as well as some diced onions that I mixed with hot sauce to make my own type of onion chutney. Oh boy, that stuff was AMAZING! The Chicken Tikka Masala had great flavor, although my pieces of chicken seemed to be a little on the drier overcooked side, the sauce along with the chutneys helped overcome that issue.
The Saag Paneer had a great texture along with their cubed/diced pieces of cottage cheese. The Malai Kofta, great vegetarian option here for those that don't eat meat. The sauce is divine with the pieces of Veggie Meatballs, it's a match made in heaven. I personally loved adding some of my onion chutney with the sauce to scoop up with the freshest of freshly made Garlic Naan bread, so fluffy and soft and warm and buttery as well. I do appreciate the fact that the naan is fresh and not reused from other tables like in some of the Madison Indian restaurants.
The Goat Curry was amazing. Great flavors, not as spicy as I would like it, but I just added some of their hot sauce to compensate for that. The meat so so tender, especially the pieces that are attached to the bone. I cannot wait to go back to this hidden gem around the lake area. I talked to my family and relatives, and they are looking forward to trying this place out in the future. Unfortunately, the Indian Restaurants in Madison post pandemic have cashed in on take out carryout orders, that they make up lame excuses as to why they will not open up their buffets, such as "No one in Madison is interested in having an Indian buffet." Good-Bye Indian Restaurants in Madison, hello Maharaja in Milwaukee. I will drive on hour to eat at your restaurant. You're that good. You can have my business anytime. I apologize for the quality of the photos, I'll be sure to take better pics next time. The food was so good, I forgot to take a lot of pics. Keep up the great work. Love, from Madison.

I genuinely enjoyed this place so much I forgot to take pictures except for when we first sat down. Some of the best Indian food in the city for sure. Sanjiv, our server was incredibly accommodating and fun to interact with. He did really well helping out our party of 8. Don’t be afraid to ask your server about the menu items if you’re new to Indian food as well!
Brian .Castillo
Intimate, low light dining experience. The staff are so lovely and attentive. The food is absolutely delicious. Would recommend for a dinner date or family get-together. Also, if you like spicy, you will be satisfied with their spice offerings (they also offer non spicy).
shane zhao
Perfect buffet, Indian sauce is always so attractive. Chicken is delicious, and some goat meat lacks moisture.
James Aderman
We thoroughly enjoyed their Sunday sampler plate: appetizer, four main courses, and dessert for $15. The service was attentive. Parking is on the street, but on Sunday for lunch there was plenty of free parking close by.
Scott Bright
This is one of my daughters favorite places. She has taken me there twice and now it's one of my favorite places too. The staff is so nice here you feel at home right away. They start you out with papadum which is so good. Every dish we have tried has been great. They will make the spice level you are comfortable with. And finally, their naan is amazing. The garlic is the classic. The others are great as well. And yes they have beer.
Gary Kohlbeck
This was our first time dining here and we had an excellent experience. The food on the Sunday Brunch was delicious. The owners were very, very attentive to make sure the buffet was filled and that the waitstaff didn't miss any detail. The waitstaff was very attentive and very respectful. This is a very well run business. You must go there and see for yourself.
Kevin Golliher
This is my new favorite Indian restaurant in Milwaukee. The buffet had many meat and vegetarian options, all fresh and tasty. My favorite was Murgh Kerala and the other soup (not the coconut one). Try putting a Gulab Jamun or two in the Kheer, delicious.
Karen Solis
My family and I are regulars and we stay ordering feasts! The meals are always a great portion and high quality. We especially love their Mango Lassi as well as their Tandori plates and chicken Masala!!
M I C H !
Ordered makhani for dinner from here was delicious! Only downside is some of the chicken had bone in it, which I bit down on and it hurt my tooth a bit. But besides that I really enjoyed the food!
Yaakov Cohen
A staple in Milwaukee this is one of the finest quality Indian restaurants in the Midwest.
Attempting to support local restaurants during the pandemic, we made a reservation to sit in. Pleasantly supposed to find ample spacing between tables with every member of staff wearing masks. In addition they prevent takeout orders from walking in wo masks as well. It was a wonderful experience to be able to sit at a restaurant with no concerns and enjoy an amazingly prepared meal.
If your looking for a safe place to eat at then come to Maharaja.

Special Buffet for Thanks Giving has been setup by Maharaja with all Authentic cuisine with a touch of Indian hospitality.

I would say this is a really good Indian restaurant, waiters are very friendly and foods are very good. Those food are tasty and authentic Indian style. The Mango ice cream is really tasty 👍 The Mango smoothie is good too. For hot dishes, I would suggest the chicken biryani, tandoori chicken, Chicken tikka masala and goat curry. Actually, I like every kind of food they served 😋

**Buffet rating**
I’m still eating as I’m writing the review! The food and service are both good. The buffet selections are very mild compared to some Indian food. I don’t know whether to rate that high or low because there are reasons to go either way.
Regardless, it’s very tasty and it seems like a reliable location so it shouldn’t fail you.
Tom Brooks
The food, the staff, everything great here. I don’t eat meat and the meatless options are plenty and all are so good. One of the best restaurants in Milwaukee.
Andrew Ohl
Fantastic food and service, each and every single time! The staff...from the owner, to the servers, to the bartender... are some of the nicest people I've encountered. And the food... absolutely delicious. I have some favorites, including the Bhindi Masala, Dal Makhani, and Masala, but no matter what I try, everything is wonderful. Tonight, I learned about their amazing lunch special and weekend buffet... I will be back soon! Thank you, Maharaja!
John Bamberg
If you like Indian food, you have to go here. They always have quite a grand selection. Food is always fresh and tasty. Price is reasonable. My comments here pertain to lunch buffet. The day car is nice, and the staff are friendly.
Update for November 26, 2022: We miss the old days when there was always a lunch buffet, but glad that it is still offered on weekends. But now lunch buffet costs as much as ordering off of the menu. We were particularly impressed by our waitress Sherri who was happy and friendly.
Mike McCormack
Great service, exceptional buffet.. been a staple for a long, long time. Also the only buffet I eat from. If you follow me, that should tell you something
Alina Ancheta
The food was delicious and the service was professional. Here’s where they take the gold: during dinner, I was in a lot of pain. When I asked my waiter where I could find something for my pain, the staff went out of their way to get some ibuprofen for me. Thank you for going above and beyond and being so kind and thoughtful!!
Sarada S
Good and neat Indian restaurant. They have a parking lot opposite to the restaurant which was very convenient.
We had samosas, malai kofta, veg biriyani, and peshwari. The food was good. We ordered medium spicy food but it was not at all spicy. As an Indian, I would have loved more spice in the food. But over all, the food was nice.
Daniel Johnston
Great chicken curry and possibly the best garlic naan I've ever had. All around great experience.
Pilot Lee
Phenomenal lunch buffet
My family has been going here for decades and the lunch buffet is always delicious and reliable in quality. It's phenomenal Indian food. The food variety is huge and includes dessert. There are options that are comfortable for people familiar with Indian food and non-familiar alike.
The seating area is huge and the staff is lovely.
Richy Parkin
Amazing food
You can see in the pictures what we had and I have to say it was all great
Highly recommend eating jere when in Milwaukee

I came in with a group that included a young lady with food allergies. We asked about the food on the buffet, explained that she is allergic to garlic and the owners were very nice- they actually cooked her a dish too order with no garlic. The food was excellent and they service was outstanding from start to finish.
Daniel Cano
One of my favorites restaurants on the east side of Milwaukee. Their signature plates as Rogan Josh or Mango are amazing. The tandoori lamb are perfect too.
ali khan
Nothing exceptional. Food tasted like any other average Indian restaurant. If you like real spicy desi food, this place is not for you. Try their buffet for a better variety.
Akshaya Lakshminarasimhan
Always Looking upto this Restaurant for Indian Food 😁 they are Vegan Friendly and Very Accommodating 🤗 The Best Part is they have Parking 😍 …

The music, the scenery, and the employees are wonderful. I would not go to another Indian cuisine restaurant before coming to Maharaja. My mother Mia has been working here, and she as well me love it here

Classic north Indian Punjabi food. One of Milwaukee's best local Indian restaurants

Decent Indian buffet depending on the cook. Sometimes the chicken is a little tough, goat is always fresh and tender! The chicken biryani and mint chutney and fish pakora are delicious.Buffet is $20 Saturday and Sundays for anyone 10 or above have been going here 8 years. Wait staff very helpful you get choice of drink soft drink or mango lassi plus hot buttered naan bread with your buffet. You can also order on Eat Street from 11:30 a.m. till close . Have ordered from here several times the food is always hot and delicious. Also every time we have gone the bathrooms are clean and smell fresh.
Paul Shinkle
40+ items on the buffet, many you'll never see at a "curry in a hurry" place, lovely desserts, and very fine service; it's little wonder that this jewel of a restaurant thrives. As good as the buffet is, truly a proper dinner experience is even better. This is a top 5 restaurant in my book. A real family owns and operates it; you'll see them there, too.
Update: consistently excellent service, food, and ambiance. If you pick the right seat, you can watch the football game, too. I'm pretty focused on the beautiful presentation.
Adolfo Dorta
Great food and service. Been eating here about 8 years and it's never let me down. VERY excellent Covid precautions - probably the best I've seen in any restaurant
Abhi K
I have to be honest first of all to fellow Indians looking for authentic food - probably not here, you will get decent fresh food, that's about it. Don't expect to be amazed or anything.
The five stars are for the staff and management. I liked it. Food was alright, nothing spectacular, not bland or anything, I will be nitpicking if I start dissecting the preparations. Just not authentic that's the only complaint. But it caters to a major Caucasian demographic, I didn't expect anything other than what I got.
It's clean, simple, and the buffet or lunch menu is inexpensive.
John Calandranis
Excellent food! Excellent service (even on a late weekday evening! - a pleasant surprise). Strongly recommended! If you are a lover of Indian food, you'd savor it and if you are not, you will become one!
Herv Sim
Great food, fantastic service. My waiter was Sanjiv and he makes cool music he also has a gnarly hole in his neck, pretty rad
Pierce Da'esigil (Folferz)
Five course lunches with an appetizer and desert, unlimited rice and tandoori Naan... $13 a person, and same amazing quality you expect with their home cooked dinners. Highly recommend and a can't miss in Milwaukee.
Ashley M
Obsessed with the aloo Gobi and tandoor chicken. I have had great experiences dining in and with take out.

Amazing lunch with great attentive service and super affordable meal.

Wonderful food - very, very tasty and full of rich spices. I LOVE their curries. Reviewer Sally Cogan is wrong - the curry is WONDERFUL! Reviewer Kartikeya Rajdev is way wrong too, the weekend buffet is amazing. Huge variety and every dish freshly prepared. Outstanding chana masala, palak paneer, chicken tikka masala, biryani rice, aloo gobi, fresh naan! Highly recommended.
Ratnashree Biswas
Great food! Excellent taste! I had the murgh Kerala with rice and chicken 65 for starters! 👍
Katia Vales
The food was amazing and the staff super kind. Going back soon

Good Indian food, you must come to Maharaja. Allways smell wonderful with different seasoning and spices and herbs, You can tell. And looks like a good selection of alcohol.
Anthony Cappoferri
One of my favorite Indian restaurants of all time. Always outstanding. Anytime I’m in the MKE area and have a lunch free I’m always trying to get here. ESPECIALLY Saturday and Sunday for their buffet. Highly, highly recommended!
Rick and Dani Gramza
This was our first time at Maharaja, and we will be back. The curry goat was different, never tried goat before. The chicken tika masala was amazing, as was the rice and garlic naan! The hostess Afrin was so nice and welcoming!!! So glad we stopped!
Tess Halpern
Delicious food! Flavors were on point the couple of times we’ve eaten here. Slightly smaller orders than other Indian restaurants but the flavor makes up for it.
Bonnie McGill
If your in the mood for Indian food, check this place out. We had the buffet, 20 bucks a person. This price includes drinks and mango ice cream. Try the mango Lasso drink, yum.
Zeen Absolute
I wish the buffet was open, but it was great as always
Bruce Heard
Love this place. Food and service have always been excellent. Prices are reasonable. The restaurant owns a free guest parking right across the street, which is very convenient in this part of town. Comfort and space are adequate. The decor is fine, although it would benefit from a more thoroughly Indian flair. The music isn't at all what I'd expected from an Indian restaurant (Spanish guitar? Odd.) These are very minor issues. We've been to Maharajah several times with friends, including on Christmas Eve. Not once have we've been disappointed. Definitely recommended.
Claire Bilicki
Food is very good. I’m sad they got rid of the to go buffet, but please sit down because even the weekday buffet is good. I’ve only actually sat in at to eat twice, but the service was great and absolutely no complaints there. Mostly I order uber eats, the food is always good and sometimes I have complicated orders that they always get right. I haven’t tried all the Indian restaurants in Milwaukee, but theirs is the best I’ve had.
Alex Francis
Lunch buffet with authentic food never disappoints!
iriegnome
Wonderful food. Good people all around. Well stocked buffet lunch. Hot and fresh. The bread is amazing as well. The mango ice cream is incredible as well. Fantastic deep flavors and about as authentic as I have found in the area. Everything from start to finish was well worth the stop.
CJ Jurgens
Terrific food and great service! I've only eaten dinner here, but every dinner option I've tried has been delicious. Take advantage of great customer service, amazing food, and never a long wait for a table. The appetizers are great shareables and they have a wonderful selection of beers/wine to pair with your dinner. Another plus is the free parking in their Maharaja lot across their street!
Anna Joranger
Let's start by saying that this is some of the best Indian food I've ever had!! And let's continue by saying that Maharaja catered our wedding on 9/3/17, so this is a catering-oriented review - although if that's not what you're here for, I most definitely recommend a restaurant visit as well. :)
In a word, wow. Mr. and Mrs. Singh and their team were simply amazing. We knew we wanted something different from run-of-the-mill wedding catering, and this was the best possible choice. Most importantly: the food. I cannot tell you how many compliments my husband and I got on the food at our wedding; people who generally love Indian food were impressed, as were people who had never tried it before! Mrs. Singh was also SO helpful throughout my entire wedding planning process; having never hired a caterer for such a huge event before, I had lots of detailed questions for her. She was friendly and responsive and helpful from start to finish. And when the day of the wedding arrived, everything went so smoothly. Huge thanks to Maharaja for contributing to an absolutely amazing wedding day! We will be visiting them at their restaurant many, many times!
Kim Alwan
Our favorite restaurant in Milwaukee.
Food is authentic & consistent.
Mr. & Mrs. Singh add to the warm atmosphere & experience.
Anna M
Great Indian food! We will be coming back for sure.
Oh!No! The Miltown Clown
This place is always great! The Buffet is back on SAT and SUN, so check it out. Didn't they win the Shepard's Best Naan?
Reuven Cocos
I've been going to Maharaja for about 15 years now. I've seen many changes in the kitchen, and there's been a big change since my last visit, around a year ago. I realize that restaurants need to adjust things because of Covid, and Maharaja is not immune. My bill was just a few pennies short of $100. Two orders of chicken tikka, one tandoori lamb, one shahi pander, four servings of naan, one chicken 65 and two vegetable pakora. The servings were not as generous as in years past, but let me tell you this:
The quality is better than I've ever had there in 15 years. They've sacrificed portion size for quality, and I can stand by that. The lamb was INCREDIBLE. The sauce on the chicken tikka was as well. The chicken 65 was tender and so flavorful. I ordered takeout on Christmas day for dinner and they seem to be on their A game. Thank you Maharaja and staff. You've done a phenomenal job.
Joseph McDade
Bottom line up front, if you're looking for an Indian place you can stop looking and go here.
I ordered the vindaloo, my girlfriend ordered the chicken tikka masala, and we both got garlic naan. Everything was incredible. The naan was fresh, crispy, and fluffy. The vindaloo was spicy, tasty, and a member of the clean plate club. I tried a couple bites of the tikka masala and I have to say it is the most flavorful I've ever had. It's normally a fairly basic dish made for an English palette. This masala breaks that trend.
Without question, I will be coming back.
Maryam Sepid
The staff are nice, the ice cream and the deserts are wonderful, but the buffet doesn't have that much variety and most of the foods includes chicken. The price for this buffet is not that much reasonable($13).
It general, It's a good place for try, but I probably will not come back here if I wish some different food.
David Materko
My daughter and I ate their lunch buffet yesterday. THE BEST!!! We live 81 miles away. Worth the drive!!!!!
Debra Badzinski
Helpful, friendly staff. Willing to answer all my questions about their menu and offered suggestions. Food was very good, tool. I had a Rogan Josh with a moderate spice/heat level. Price was reasonable, portions were generous but not huge... just enough for lunch tomorrow. Will likely return next time business brings me back.
ALEXIS MUSIAL
Been twice now. Once for a buffet and once not. AMAZING both times. I wish I remembered our most recent server’s name, but she did fantastic. It was March 16th for night service. She is younger with long black and green nails (shout out and thank you!). She said she had only been there 4 months but she was one of the best servers I’ve ever had. She was knowledgeable and funny. And of course the food was great too :)
Michael Grebner
Appetizer, unlimited rice, 3 entrees with seconds on one, naan and dessert all for $15. Food was excellent. Tables well spaced. Staff wore masks appropriately. A thoroughly enjoyable lunch.
Yana “YANA” Sterling
Service was good, the food was okay. It was hard to order off the menu when you're unfamiliar with Indian dishes. Maybe a detailed description, or pictures would help make this a better experience for others who would like to try something new. My fault for not going to the buffet, which I did hear is amazing!
Tesla Lockwood
Interesting take on Tikka Masala. Delicious food, especially their lamb Tikka side. The lamb was so tender and charred; it was amazing. Will definitely go back, just not sure I'll get the Tikka Masala, which is usually my staple. Additionally, we ordered two different varieties of the Masala to try both the mild and the medium, one of which we ordered with mushrooms. We got two orders of the exact same mild Tikka Masalas both with no mushrooms. Maybe it was just an off batch?
Lillie Le
Parking can be difficult. Semi formal setting. Prices lean towards the expensive end for what you are getting. However, the restaurant does have very unique and interesting dishes--like lamb in green sauce. The chicken curry was delicious. If you like spicy food, they can deliver on that note.
Ned Hoff
Maharaja is an excellent Indian restaurant. The restaurant is owned by people from India. It is authentic Indian cuisine. They have a large Buffet with many different choices to suit anyone's taste and the prices are great. The staff is wonderful and very friendly also.
Christina Loftus
,(edit: we've been back several times and every time had been outstanding service.)
Very delicious food, however terrible service. Need attention quicker, more often, and check/bill needs to come when we are done eating. We waited an extremely long time for attention. Otherwise this would have been 5 stars. Dang the food was really really good. We will be back, hopefully with better service!
Adam M.
Went here for my birthday dinner with 11 others & while the food itself was amazing, our waiter for the evening was unfortunately not nearly as amazing as the food. In this particular instance, he only paid the most attention to half the table while almost entirely ignoring the other half. Even with the half he did pay attention to, he messed up part of the order. Normally, with service this bad, I'd give less than 4 stars, but the food was just that good. Hopefully next time will be better
Maureen Brock
I truly love Maharaja. The staff, decor, ambience, food - all wonderful. And I love that we can eat an amazing meal and not break the bank. Everything we've tried is excellent in the 8 years we've been going. They also love kids and make mine feel welcome which is awesome. I could literally eat here three times a week and be a happy camper.
Kathleen Strattner
Some of the best Indian food in Milwaukee, but note the change in hours. We went at 8:30, expecting them to still be open until ten. Though they closed at nine, the staff remained friendly, attentive, and didn't rush our group at all. Excellent service, wonderful wait staff, and truly delicious food. Late diners should try them out during the week day lunch buffet.
Cheryl Andres
As always, the food was amazing. Since folks were missing the buffet, the clever staff devised a five course dining experience so you can still enjoy a variety of your favorite dishes! Bravo!!
Kelsey Burke
Maharaja has a wonderful, varied menu. Their lunch buffet provides many of their classic options and dessert for a very reasonable price. The price also includes naan and a take-home box, something many buffets do not offer. Their full dinner menu is excellent for picking several options and sharing as a table.
Awake Joy
If you have never had Indian food before the best time to go is during lunch from 11am to 3pm. They have a large buffet with several entrees that you can try. There are even vegetarian option. The staff is always nice and friendly. The resturant is clean and they sometimes play the best music to set the mood. Ideal location for business meeting, date, family gathering and solo dining. Enjoy!
Isabella Marie
This place has always the best food. My go to full meal to go is The Tiki Masala, garlic naan and the mango lassi. You have to have it!
Ryan Berg
Fantastic authentic cuisine, fast and courteous service, no complaints whatsoever.

My favorite Indian restaurant. Wonderful authentic Indian food, very good service, and always welcoming.
nick flemingwood
What pleasant surprise finding Maharaja was yesterday in Milwaukee. The lunch buffet was very good and the Naan perfectly prepared and served hot, unlike many other Indian buffets. Many different main dishes, sides and vegetables to choose from as well as a nice selection of chutneys. The perfect end to lunch was the mango ice cream, it was spectacular.

Amazing food and great service! Went for Valentine's and was surprised to receive a rose on the way out which was unexpected but a very nice touch. My man and I normally have leftovers and this time we didn't because we ate it all so fast! (Spicy lamb curry, saag, and 2 kinds of naan). 11/10 Will come back!

They have delicious food here. I find myself craving it! Good portion sizes for sharing multiple dishes. My only issue is choosing what to get out of so many delicious options.

Delicious food!!! Was recommended by a coworker as the most authentic Indian cuisine in Milwaukee and it was not disappointed. A must try!!

Just had the best experience we have had at Maharajah. Rocky was the best waiter by far. My wife and I have been eating here for over 12 years and have had many different experiences, some up and some down. I can honestly say the service and food was EXCELLENT. Rocky took such good care of my wife and I. My wife had ordered her chicken mango a little to spicy and the waiter, and owner noticed she was not eating and without asking grabbed it off the table and said, "2 minutes," and remade her meal and brought her out a new one freshly made. We cant thank you enough for being so polite and thoughtful. We will be promoting this establishment for many years to come. Cant wait to have dinner here again.

As an Indian, I consider myself little difficult to get pleased with Indian food. I love going here for evening snacks(Indian Chai and starters). However food is kept a little mild than avg considering the spice tolerance level of everyone. This place is popular and always full and I like eating here but not when you looking for authentic dishes with no compromise on spice levels.

One of the best places to have Indian Food in Milwaukee Downtown. There are great number of options in appetizers, main course and desserts and all the items are too good.
weekday buffet - $9 worth the price.
weekend buffet price has been increased to $18. Although Menu has so many options you will hardly end up going past the appetizers.

Loved everything about this place! The food was delicious!! We went for the buffet and everything from the meal to dessert hit the spot. Come hungry and you won't be disappointed. Also took advantage of the free henna. Definitely recommend.

I haven't visited this restaurant in years. The buffet menu has improved. It had more options than I could have dreamed of. Everything tasted heavenly. They have food signs to show the vegetarian, dairy, and gluten free options. Thank you for all of the small touches.

Best Indian in MKE. Staff is friendly and food is consistently good. Ownership is usually there and genuinely cares about your experience. Solid place if you're looking for Indian food. If you're new to Indian I recommend the chicken Tikka Marsha medium spice with garlic naan. That's what I always get. I never have been here for lunch just for dinner.

My first time ordering Maharaja and the food was good but not for the price. I order a $14 plate an got a small 6 oz cup . If it would have been given the proper amount, I would have gave it 5 stars.

This was our first buffet visit. Loved the food and the hospitality of the staff.
Authentic Indian food. We liked Sambhar, Roti, Dosa, Kofta, Butter Chicken and Dessert.
They have their own parking too across the street.
Will definitely visit next time.

Food was fantastic. We don't have an Indian restaurant in our city so when we visit Milwaukee we try to stop in. We rated our tandoori chicken one of the best ever. Chicken Tikka masala was nicely spiced. Daughter's kebabs were tasty and we got a huge portion.

Love going here with family and friends. Dishes, just as most ethnic restaurants, are served family style so order a few things and pass them around to everyone. Main dishes are accompanied with rice and your table receives one order of complementary pomppadons, and you decide on your heat level for every dish. I have to eat gluten free and vegan (allergy and preference) the kitchen is very accommodating. There style is not Punjabi so if you're used to that the food may taste slightly different.

Solid indian food in the city. We actually had our family dinner there after a double baptism and everybody was very happy with their meal. Have eaten here many times and will definitely eat here many more times.

It had been a while since dining at Maharaja. I was reluctant to go because in the past my experience was lackluster due to poor service. My wife suguested we give it another go, and I am glad we did. The place was busy for a Monday, and appeared to be short staffed. Our server, Luke was incredibly attentive and professional. He managed to find time to answer all of our questions and never made us feel rushed- although he was clearly very busy. The food was outstanding. It is clear that Maharaja uses the freshest ingredients and takes pride in producing high quality food. I am extemely impressed and my only regret is that I waited so long to go back! See you soon Maharaja!

went for brunch on sunday, buffet dishes were almost half chicken base with some sort of curry. there was rice, very good. one goat dish, which was tough to eat. in general our experience as family was very good. one las comment, carpet expel this old place odor.
Ted Hertel
Great lunch buffet with a wide selection of choices. Goat curry and chicken tikka masala were among the best entrees. The naan was about the best we've had and the chai tea was, as well. Very reasonably priced at $13.

One of the finest Indian restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. This is a foodie place for certain. The staff is highly attentive and very concerned with your experience. Highly recommended.

When I came back to visit last week I had to go back to one of my favorite spots that kept me fed from when I lived in MKE. Thanks Maharaja for always putting out great tasting food. Good veggie and meat options and the owners are so friendly.

What a great find. Their rep for luncheon buffet is well deserved. Milwaukee is blessed with a few really good Indian buffets but this one is a step above. The cocoanut soup and chili pakora were wonderful, as was the basmati rice, goat curry and everything else I tried. You also get a small container to go. The staff was helpful and warm. I will definitely be back.

Writing this review from the perspective of a vegetarian (not vegan). They definitely have a few solid entrees, the malai kofta is my go-to. In regards to the lunch buffet- it's definitely a good value, especially with the take-out option- but the selection itself is a bit disappointing. Out of the 8 or so main dishes, only 2 didn't have meat and those were quite average. I'm sure the limited vegetarian offerings are a result of the generally meat-eating crowd that they cater to..but still. I think they could provide at least another meatless main dish or make the couple that they do have a tad bit more interesting. You can only have palak paneer so many times before getting a little bored....:P

They have an ok setting, the staff is ok also. The food is tasty by leans on the salty side and they have a hard time understanding when requesting something that deviates from the menu, like extra spicy hot, or please reheat this. Classic deserts tasted old.

Good food. The place was clean and well presented. The hosts were polite. It took a little time to get the food but that was ok. The host explained the size of the order and helped us order correctly. I would go there again.

Wonderful lunch today. I sampled chicken shahikorma, curried goat, and a trio of pakoras: fish, cauliflower, and onion. All served up with a basket of hot nan bread. This place never disappoints.

This review is about their buffet..I've been a semi regular but my recent visit was disappointing and could be my last . They have downsized so there isn't much to choose from .. tandoori chicken is not the same it tasted mostly like paprika but the fish was good

Green sauce is mind blowingly addictive. The stuffed appetizer things (sopos?) were so good we would have ordered three and has a main course!!! Lamb was moist, tender and full of flavor in all dishes! Vindaloo was good but the cream based were stellar (matter of personal preference). I got a medium spicy and it was just right, non spicy were also just right. Vegetarian options also full of flavor. Great staff, ultra friendly owners.

The best Indian Food in MKE! The food and service is fantastic! They serve a variety of dishes that are so flavorful. My favorite place to order mango juice and mango lamb! Keep it up, Maharaja!
Larry Kaye
Delicious buffet at a reasonable price. Just the tandoori chicken was a bit dry , maybe because we got there near the end of buffet time (3 PM) and they were the last pieces.

One of the first Indian Restaurants we explored in Milwaukee! Never fails to disappoint. The owners are extremely nice and the loyalty card idea is great!
Han Figworthy
Fantastic lunch buffet. At least 20 items, vegetarian and non-veg well represented. They bring the naan fresh to your table. Cozy seating area. Ambiance is simple. Friendly, welcoming service.
